‘Nomadland’ Wins Big at BAFTA Awards – Complete List of Winners

"Held on Sunday night in London. As well as best film. It also won best director for Chloe Zhao and best actress for Frances McDormand. The BAFTA voting system had been changed this year after complaints that the awards were doing too little to encourage diversity. Here's our arts correspondent been sent out. E think friends part of an American tradition. My dad used to say what's remembered lives. It was no surprise. Nomad Land took the best film of the bastards. Lots of people expected to do the same at the Oscars. Two weeks from now. It's a powerful investigation of the soul of America, with Frances McDormand, superb in the lead role, and her win as best actress was predictable. There was talk of best actor going to the late Chadwick Boseman instead at 83, Sir Anthony Hopkins took it for the father. I don't know what she's cooking up against me, but she's cooking some of them. What's he talking about? That I'm not leaving my flash British Film Academy worked hard to broaden the electorate for this year's awards. That led to more diversity in the nominees. At least there was a lot of admiration for rocks. A realistic story of black British life. I think you should tell someone about young, long. You wouldn't understand. What's the problem? Talk to me. I don't get it. Don't worry for me. You're not. There's such a beautiful work. You have to leave. Get out get out was nothing contrary to what some expected rocks did not take outstanding British film. Its central character is played by Bucky Back Ray, who'd had no acting experience. Her reaction over zoom as she learned she had been chosen as best newcomer was the highlight of the evening. The winner. Off the E Rising Star award is Vicky Bakley. Wet Notes - 4-9-21

"This is wet notes here scuba shock radio for april ninth two thousand and twenty one first up today. I'd like to give you an update on new netflix. Documentary see spiracy. You might recall that. I introduced you to this film in a previous segment of wet notes. Well it did premiere on netflix's advertised. And i had a chance to watch. She spiracy a couple of weeks ago. The film is eighty nine minutes long and it can be captivating and controversial. Like i said this is certainly raising a great deal controversy especially as it relates to sustainable seafood and fishing. There's a couple of organizations that they called out into spiracy earth island institute and the marine stewardship council actually marine stewardship council issued a response on their website within days of the premier and every day. I see something more coming out related to the controversy. But i encourage you to watch the film and then decide for yourself about what it is saying like. I said lots of controversy. That's spiracy on net flicks now. Here's something that. I found really interesting. I came across an article that talked about how scientists are using thin wales to map out what lies beneath the sea floor. Now according to to seismologists vaclav kina from the czech academy in prague and john nab elec of oregon state university in corvallis oregon the song of the fin. Whales are loud enough to penetrate the earth's crust and revealed deep structures. I guess they have a network of fifty four bottomed size meter seismometers that the tech sound waves traveling through the ground and they picked up the of whales as they were passing by. Now they have a one hundred and eighty nine decibels song and that song can last from two and a half to five hours as they did more analysis they were able to map the underlying rock structures. According to these guys this is just as effective as those air cannons that are polluting the ocean with all that noise how practical this is yet to be seen. But you've gotta admit it is interesting. Now here's an update on the lectured aluminum tanks situation. You might recall back at the end of february. I told you about luxembourg Decision to exit the aluminum tank business and that they were looking to sell their plants in the us and the uk more. Here's some good news. Metal impact out of elk grove village in illinois is acquiring the graham north carolina luxembourg cylinder plant metal impact is no stranger to scuba tank business. They've been around since nineteen fifty nine and in two thousand fourteen. They purchase worthington. Aluminum cylinders has been providing aluminum scuba tanks to excess scuba and see pearls for a number of years. We've got quite a few from excess scuba over the past couple of years and so we're pretty familiar with metal impacts. This is some good news for the. Us aluminum Scuba tank supply chain. There's absolutely no doubt that. The pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the scuba industry. But i guess it's not all bad news if you happen to be in the right place and it seems that hawaii is those right places especially for new diver certifications. There's a recent article in scuba diving magazine. Titled more hawaiians getting certified than before the pandemic turns out that even though the travel has been restricted to and from the islands more locals are turning to scuba aloha scuba on awad who had reported a one hundred and twenty percent increase in new diver certifications. In two thousand and twenty. They went from twenty seven in two thousand and nineteen to eighty three in two thousand and twenty spurred by whole families going for they're open water certification with some great diving. It certainly makes sense to mask up and dive in our aloha state. Last week i was trying to see if the ocean based climate solutions act of two thousand and twenty was being introduced in this session of congress. Well no update on that yet but i did come across something very interesting. There is a house select committee on the climate crisis now. This committee was created during the one hundred sixteenth congress. That was the last one so it hasn't been around long. But they did produce a climate action plan of two thousand twenty. And that's called the congressional action plan for a clean energy economy and a healthy resilient and just america committee is chaired by representative. Kathy castor from florida and the ranking chair is representative garrett graves from louisiana now. I watched their organizing meeting from march nineteenth. Let's say there's just a little bit of difference on the ideas of how to approach In the approaches in making the us carbon zero by two thousand fifty but as representative castor stated. It's time to turn recommendations into policy. Now i'll be tracking our actions and keep you updated here and finally you might recall. Last year the uss bonham rashard an eight hundred forty four foot long and fibia assault ship burned out of control for five days. Now that was in san diego california. But now senator. Marco rubio from florida is proposing that the ship be used to create an artificial reef down in florida little bit of background. The navy did some cost analysis On what it would take to restore the ship to operational status an estimated that that would be somewhere between two point. Five and three point five billion dollars but the cost to decommission and scrap the bonham rashard would be about thirty million dollars. Senator rubio didn't provide any details on where the ship might be sunk and be become an artificial reef but he did say that it could be done for less than thirty million dollars to scrap the ship. This word Happened it would be. We'll keep an eye on it and see where it goes. Fingers crossed that will have another artificial reef down in florida. Something that big to dive on. Well that's it for this installment of wet notes for april ninth. Two thousand and twenty

United Airlines Plans To Begin Training Pilots at New Academy

"United Airlines says it plans to hire 10,000 pilots over the next decade, and half of them will come from its own new pilot training Academy. MPR's David Schaper reports from Chicago. The airline is also committing to making its pilot ranks much more diverse. Airlines were facing a long term pilot shortage before the pandemic, and they still do now. Even though air travel Amanda's only beginning to recover so United has developed its own flight school, and spokesman Josh Earnest says the airline wants half of new pilot recruits to be women or people of color. In some ways, what's really important about this is that this commitment will allow us to open the door. To an exciting and lucrative career opportunity that has previously not been available to earlier generations of women and people of color, at least to many of them. United is offering scholarships and working out outreach. It is now accepting applications to the pilot academy.

"But somehow if it's a radical it seems to me which they claimed it was. It would be eradicated i they reintroduced it and i say that because there's a number of news stories that came out recently where the kids got the measles vaccine and then got measles and then there was a bunch of other kids who had the vast settled science by the way but not yes but not the booster and they got measles. When did a booster become a thing for measles. So i i most of the opinion that go by especially if he can't get sued you take this and i don't want to sound like a conspiracy nut but from a business standpoint your big meet you make these these vaccines and now you're noticing in washington state in particular people aren't taking this shot right. It's getting disapproval from various medical groups. Dr Lee Beers is president of the American Academy of Pediatrician's bill was harmful in two ways. One it threatens the health and well being of transgender youth and two it puts politicians rather than pediatricians in charge of a child's medical care. Denton ISD to extend online learning into 2022 through K-8 Virtual Academy

"System that recognizes the benefits of virtual learning is the dent in independent school district just outside of Dallas, Texas right now, about a third of its more than 30,000 students are taking classes online, and they'll still have that option next year. That's because the district recently announced the launch of a new K eight virtual academy. Jamie Wilson is the superintendent. And he joins us Now. Welcome to the program. Thank you for having me today, Sarah. Now is this just about accommodating families who are worried about Cove it or are there other reasons why families and students want to stay online? So we've been an in person learning in our school district since the Tuesday after Labor Day. And giving our parents a choice to learn from home. As the years progressed, some families have made the decision to stay at home. That could be for a health reason or it could be because they're actually seeing some benefits to online learning. So we're planning to meet both needs. What kinds of students so far are you seeing benefit the most from virtual learning? Really? We're seeing a cross section of all of our students were seeing students with special needs were seeing students of gifted, talented some of our students who may B A B D or able to focus for shorter periods of time, and some students really can work through their curriculum a little faster, and it allows himself pacing to happen for our students and their families. So really, It's an individual decision that allows our students and their families to make a choice of how they want to receive their instruction. So much of school in addition to academic instruction Let's face it. A lot of it is about learning how to be around other people how to socialize with peers and with adults. How do you compensate for what? Kids who stay home Maybe year after year are not getting in that environment. We undoubtedly believed that our families will choose that be involved in extracurricular activities at school. We may even have some clubs that are available to our students. In addition to that, if you think about our families and in most families in general As we've gone through the pandemic, they've identified themselves small clusters of students for them to get with and be around so that they do get that socially. Most of learning and they do have opportunities to forge relationships. It's really Teaching us some things about collaboration in the ability of our students to self select some collaborators for their online learning is they kind of started with their own hubs in our forced online learning environment, So we think when we get intentional with it, and we train our teachers with making the best of our online learning environment that will even get As good or better results than we're seeing with our in person remembers.

"Before we jump in little news came across the running world last couple days and that is that dick hoyt died. Yeah that's right. He was eight years old and been suffering from a prolonged illness. And people may recognize the name. Dick rick whitehaven fixture of the boston marathon. Since nineteen eighty when dick. I pushed his son. Who was born a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. So they were very recognizable. They had actually begun. Doing other marathons around the country in nineteen seventy seven and throughout multiple decades. They did dozens of marathons and triathlons together Before the elder hoyt retired from running several years ago. I think it was in two thousand fourteen. They ran their final boston marathon together but he was such an inspirational man and will definitely be missed for sure. And that's team hoyt. If you haven't heard their story definitely go. "The fire service is always changing. It's fluid right and some of the changes may not be what we particularly want not everything where it's GonNa go our way right? We're not always going to get away all of the time. We will link together as one. Continuing to serve. This. The Brotherhood Academy Radio. Everybody welcome back to the Brotherhood Academy Radio PODCAST I am Nick Hilton I. Am your host. It has been a while since I've given you all a show and I really really do apologize for that but I decided to take some time off and if you hadn't noticed the show was starting to become a little bit inconsistent and I was getting less and less shows out to all of you and I didn't really like how things were going it wasn't certainly What I wanted to do right. It wasn't the direction I wanted the podcast go in and things weren't quite going as I planned for them to go. So I decided to reset and to focus on family work and some projects around the house. So. Coming to you with a revival show. Okay. Call us a revival show, but before we get into it. Let's talk about the F. Down to fight fire volunteer firefighters podcast. It's been awhile since I've given them a plug obviously because it's been a while since we've done a show. But these guys have been dedicated and mentioning us on their shows even in our absence and I really truly appreciate that I do feel that I owe them quite a bit and. Let me just say if you haven't heard of them, go check them out there on all of the major platforms for podcasting there on Youtube they're on social media. Imagine. Go check them out down to fight fire. Okay. DT F F their group of firefighters in Canada Western Coast candid up British Columbia, and they are very aggressive very active. They do a lot of training and they're very funny and they have a lot to talk about and we have been staying in contact over the last month when this show has been apps and they really have inspired me to get. Back into this and to start spend to get going. Okay. So we've been doing this show for about two years. Now actually wall we started in August two years ago and these guys in Canada have been really good friends of ours for about that same amount of time and we really appreciate their work towards promoting US and helping us out with getting more followers and listeners it's really appreciated and Thank you guys you're listening. You're anxious to hear show I'm back the other guys come on back soon, Nick Hamm on our talking today we're going to hopefully recorded episode Friday. And things are starting to get a little bit more back into the groove and I know I said that before I took the absence took a little break. But we've actually been collaborating a little bit so Hopefully Friday. If work permits, we'll have show. So thank you guys de tff down to fight fire volunteer firefighters podcast. For supporting us much appreciated. So in my absence from the podcast I have had time to reflect on a lot of things had time to listen to. Some personal development podcasts so that can work on myself and I feel as though this summer has been a big challenge for me personally. As I, am sure that it's been a challenge for all of you as well. I'm sure you feel the same way most of it is because of a lot of changes and adjustments, right. So I want to make this return or this revival episode about those challenges and changes. So we all go through these things from time to time, and we should know how to deal with them. So I want to discuss how taking a break has helped me reset and can help you do the same. So let's start off with talking about the life of me Nick, Hilton. Right, as most of you know I'm a husband to a beautiful woman and a father, two young children a four year old girl and a one year old boy and what a hand can be sometimes you're right it is definitely a lot of work, but it's fun work I really enjoy it. Also lieutenant on a combination paid. Call Fire Department. Okay. I'M A full-time sales representative for leading fire apparatus manufacturer. I've got the entire state of New Hampshire to myself and I started that job in January and I'm out on the road quite a bit all right and a meeting New People, new places and getting my feet wet still I think I'm up to my knees now. Okay I think I'm up to my knees maybe to my waist and you know when you get up to waste in the water how that feels rate you like. You've got into, you've gotten in far enough above your knees. Okay and then you just you know especially, you guys you get it. Right? You KINDA got to get up to your waist. Might be a little bit painful maybe a little cold, but you gotta work your way into it. Once you get past wasted but I'm I'm about at that point with this job I'm having a lot of fun with it I also run a side business with my wife we builds rebuild. rustic woods, signs and home decor right. I also have aging grandparents and my grandfather unfortunately on hospice care. So that's taking some of my free time. I like to get over there when I. Can when I'm not working when I'm not gonNA fire calls when I'm not with the family liked the you know with the kids I like to get over there and spend a little bit of time with him when I can. And then I run and manage this podcast the Brotherhood Academy Radio an also hopefully like the rest you I I enjoy working around the house and we had just built a new shed we hired. I should say we hired somebody to build a new shed, but there's a lot of finish work that I wanted to customize it. Right so I've been spending a lot of time there. And then got some hobbies. Okay. But so this may sound and I know I know it does sound a lot like I'm making up a bunch of excuses but believe me, I'm I'm not all right. I'm trying to make a point here, and that is that chances are all of you listening live a similar scenario right chances are you are working one or two jobs maybe even three okay and you have a family to support. You have hobbies that you want to keep up with you have work to do around the house. All of this can make very very difficult to balance your attention right and of your attention is on one or more of these things. Attention on one of the more these things is a little bit slightly off. Okay. You're gonNA find yourself in a little bit of a bind and I think that's where I found myself..

"Please conduct a training exercise with your department with your members on radio like it. It's very important. Please get on the same page with agencies around you maybe formulate some sort of standard among all of you in the same region. Okay. It's a matter of life or death. That simple. It really is because if one thing is miscommunicated. Something terrible could happen. Right. So it's very easy to come up with a standardized way as a very easy to learn these radio etiquette tips. Ripe. It takes a little bit of discipline. It takes consistency. It takes training. It takes education it it takes. It takes leadership to make it happen. So. That's my message for you guys this week. I am going to go to bed. It's almost the fourth of July. Day One of my favorite holidays and I think right now having independence day coming up is extra special. Because we're all Americans except for the T. F. F. Guys in Canada There are friends right. They're still friendly with us. We're friendly with them, but most of us here are Americans. It was Canada day the other day I. Put a post up on our facebook page. congratulations. Happy. Canada Day Belated Canaday but tomorrow's not tomorrow the next day is Independence Day. One of my launching this regardless on the fourth of July is Independence Day. We're all Americans. Okay. There's a lot going on in this country right now. There's a lot of division without getting into politics being divided. It's obvious who's dividing us. Don't know I do know I might know we can all speculate. Okay we're being divided. But we're. All Americans here. So think about that all right. Let's not let us get divided. Let's not let that happen. Right remember what we're here for. Remember why we're here. Remember how we got here. Okay how this country was formulated. Do some reading. If you don't know okay, So everybody have a safe and happy Independence Day. Be An. At least just for one day police just being American. Don't be anything else because that's where we all are one. A team here, okay role Americans and Canadians so. Everybody be safe. Thanks for listening. Time's valuable. You took the time out of your day to listen. You took two weeks to wait for us to come back. and. You're waiting even longer for the other guys to get back on the show hopefully soon. I don't know who knows. But they're busy too so. Thank, you guys for listening. I appreciate it so next time. Be Safe, okay? "Welcome back to the Brotherhood. Academy Radio PODCAST I'm nick. Hilton. I'm here with your Wednesday box, alarm and I WANNA. Talk a little bit of a topic that happened today. It's something that kind of really made me feel good. So my grandparents, today celebrated their. Sixty fifth. Wedding anniversary sixty five years. That's a long time, right? That is a milestone. Last night, before I went to bed, they were already sleeping I went over to their house, and my wife had made a bunch of science to say Honk. You know the whole couvert, one, thousand, nine hundred and social distancing celebrating thing that we do know you drive by someone's house. Senior Hong Right, so we We had a bunch of signs put up in their yard while they're sleeping, so they woke up this morning. Balloons signs everything in the yard and random cars going by and Hawkins, warns! So. This morning I put up on social media. You know this. A row. View you know anyone wants to drive by. Here's the House bubble luggage. Honk this and that. An hour later after that hopes to get a phone call. From. Was a phone call I got a text message from one of our guys saying hey. Can I bring a truck down there? Drive by I'm like what yeah? Go for a double check with the chief, because it's out of the district is on the other end of town, but check the chief and and see okay and yeah, that'd be awesome. I said well. Make sure you bring engine four. He goes well. Why can't I bring engine? Six hundred six hundred newest rock? It's the rotary on his new discuss signed off by. Four. Because when my father was alive, that was a truck that he drove all the time to calls, and my father was an only child. So it, mean a lot of engine four drove by some get. He, he drove the truck down there. He drove by made some noise and brought back to the station. Real quick, simple gesture. But it made my family fulfilled right. It made my grandparents extremely happy. They were in tears all day long it was it was really cool. So, that just goes to show how. The! Camaraderie in the fire service. Is Still Alive. No matter how much drama is in your apartment? No matter how much bullshit you guys put up with. Their still come rotary, the broader brotherhood and Sisterhood is still there. and. Just keep that in mind. Just remember that okay, and if you're seeing a member whose family may need a little bit of help with something earn is celebrating something or whatever step up, okay, and and help those families and do Nice things for your firefighter families. That's important. So. There's my message for the Wednesday box alarm. Really appreciate the time you guys take to listen to these because time is valuable, Brady, you're taking that time to listen to his show, so thank you very much. We'll talk to next time friends. "See. I WANNA I wanna see like an old school like John. Hanky if you're out there listening. I know you're a standard multi user. So can we please like? I know God that pet projects. You're hiding you from all across the lake the BBS backup instead of Mike. Let's just do some weird like please nemesis node that we are infiltrating through this old school breath mud. Yes I'll up so we can make an ingress mud early. That's what I'm talking about. You bring up an interesting idea. Maybe that's what you know where they're moving towards. Is You know our our universe is is real world so you have to move around but if you want to attack another universe you get our pe attack that of the universe and it's a whole from game same rules p different game. You know what I mean like. If you're not getting this game breaking gear or maybe the only year you can be used in that universe in that plane of you have an ego in that other universe and it has its own gear and its own. But there's been a totally different. They're not platinum and onyx. So these other ones that don't count towards the levels in the main one but down to have these extra level side thing that could be blue and green and purple instead of rehearsing new. Can you can project. I mean there's so there's there's lower you know Jack to another universe and Universe interesting idea. Hopefully somebody John is listening. And maybe maybe that'll that'll fall on ears developers. Maybe that's all right direction are going. We don't know using link when the audio is up to this soon linked to the tether maybe Melissa. That's why it's out near the end of the episode a little sooner this week but I will be offset experimenting with with a different streamer that exported to A file that made it a little more difficult to edit last week but There's other changes coming. You might have noticed if you're in chat this week that the URL has changed. It's not the Agent Academy Paddock. Ask but it's the shaft live and I figured I'd take a moment to kind of explain what's going on. The folks who were here at the beginning probably have heard this before but like this channel was originally created with a group called Dead Workers Party and we made a podcast. Co The shaft podcast. And that's really how this channel got partner and so all the different like emojis and Motorola and all that stuff is because of that show. Well we just started the podcast back again this week actually Tuesday night and we'd been planning it and I know I've mentioned something before that. Hey something's maybe changing Kinda just snuck up. We're finally like let's just do it. Let's quit like thinking of a day so we did it and at the same time we change the channel name and we'll be changing like figure what they call it Emojis Moda. God's the things that you get for being a subscriber but we didn't want to like because there are some agent Kademi listeners who subscribed and we don't want to be like. Hey glad you subscribe no more cons for you. So we're not gonNA take them change them out all until at least a month gun by so you got a month to use them if you still do. If you don't want to subscribe after that that's okay. If you do and listen to a MY GRANDPA gas to we're still talking about like do we want to continue to stream on this channel is aging academy or do we want to make a new one where we can build our own icons and stuff up there so if that something let us know and then we can still host from this channel. So people are here. They're whatever they'll still find it but the show itself not changing the cool thing is. Our website was actually getting kind of expensive monthly in the shaft is going to take care of that so they recognize that. We've kind of been keeping the channel. Go and and appreciate everybody. Who's been listening? So that's that's that's some good stuff so anyway just wanted. The website dog names still be badges for episodes which speaking out the bachelor. This one is it's ready for you. It's there so you can go get the bad right now. Which is where is it not put it in? Here is just running circles waiting. It's a virtual F. S. A. I think pretty sure that's what I said. Yes so just want to let you know that was coming down the pike. The China May Change. Just check telegram. Check the twitter. And you'll know if we decide to do that. And that's really all against Jaime J. blazed suggested a new code a where's it at a that can be next week? This is a wild conspiracy. I think got shoulder tapped by the heirs. Someone they're like.

"I have gotten a little bit ingress but mostly I've just been waiting on to killing me. It just takes forever. Seems like it's GonNa take three weeks for stuff to decay but on the other side you can hack and Phil and so. I've been feeling my inventory with La gear and that kind of stuff but now in thinking that may need to be clear more later on that I guess As we looked at a virtual for Saturday and there has been some results from the Asian Academy R D labs. I think our first project has been shipped so that'd be more to come for that nice and weekly show this cool image. Have you talked about that on the show at all I? I have mentioned that it was in the works. You Ski feel free to to out if you'd like to. It might take a second so I'll do it. Okay in the show the good anything or something like that but no yeah just just keeping up on making sure that. I charge. I don't know why I still want to make sure that I hack. Instead of trusting that a charge is going to keep the sojourner alive which isn't tough. I've got a portal across the alley and it's not that bad so some keeping that I think I'm up over a more hundred days now so probably about a third where need to be so in just trying to keep up with all the stuff that's going on it. Seems like they've really kicked in gear for changes to make angriness playable without moving which seems kind of Weird. But at that's what that's what begun a little too far. Yeah.

"Guys. Nick Hilton here with the Brotherhood Academy Radio PODCAST and it is Wednesday and I just realized Wednesdays almost over nine o'clock night and I hadn't even recorded a Wednesday box alarm podcast so I'm outside. The kids are sleeping. The dog's or in the basement with a studio is because we live in an area where an area of town where our backyard is all clay so with rain that we've been having and all that stuff. The dogs go out get covered in blood. We gotta hose them off and they go in the basement to dry. So I'm not gonNA use the studio for this one because it's again. It's a Wednesday box. It'll be short short episodes so what I want to talk about. Day is a topic that I've brought up a few times in the past. If you knew to the podcast you're gonNA hear for the first time here and what I like to preach is if you have yourself a call in urine incident commander on a call and it could be something like a fire alarm activation or motor vehicle accident or a brushfire something small something minor okay and you. Your department is a Department or Volunteer Department. If you have a unit on scene like an engine on scene okay and you also have maybe attack trucker a tender or brush truck coming or another engine coming. Whatever the scenario whatever the kind of collars and they're on the road responding and you've deemed that that incident that you are commanding is pretty much under control right. You could probably handle with the unit. That's on scene. Don't cancel the responding units as my neighbor's dog keep them coming. Keep the units coming now. Reduced their response maybe down to a flow of traffic response or something like that but please just keep them coming in. And why is that? Well you're members are getting out of their house right there leaving home the leaving dinner getting out of bed. They're leaving work to answer these calls. We don't want them's making that effort right and getting all the way to the fire station getting into the truck drive into that call and then getting turned around. Let THEM COME. Let them get their. Let them see what's going on. And then you can take that as a training opportunity so like I said in the past fire alarm. Activation is a great opportunity to do a walk through especially if it's a commercial occupancy right to do a walk through of that building to show the newer members how to reset an alarm panel okay. It's a great training opportunity A brush fire okay. You've got knocked down with the first engineer. But You keep your brush truck coming or your tank truck coming or wherever else is on the road? Traffic had them get on scene. Have them look around and see you know maybe they can find a cause or or whatever okay motor vehicle accident We had one the other day the other night and I was in command and it was very minor. Okay it was a car versus the telephone. Pole No injury Ended up being a little Roadside Olympics their. Dwi Arrests. But I had an engine in the NBA. Eric ingles cleared in service. And I kept the second engine that was on the road. I kept him coming. I said you know. Come with the flow of traffic when you get into the area stage in the area. Turn your lights on. What oncoming traffic. Because there's on old back winding road oncoming traffic know that there's an incident up ahead. Okay keep them coming. That's all I'm saying. Keep your guys and girls engaged. Keep them feeling like they're needed. Okay keep them coming so that's my message for today's Wednesday box alarm. I'm sorry guys but hey it is what it is. I had a busy day. So thank you for listening. Time is valuable. I really appreciate the time that you're taking your dates. Listen to this podcast and to give us a support that we like okay. "Many people hanging around each other. That's just that just goes without saying what opportunity to learn how to do some tactics with with manpower right. Yeah yeah point up take a truck out on the road and do something with with three or four members and see what we can do right maintaining our social distancing right so that idea got shot down. Unfortunately I guess it's good and catch up on something. Solve it look. It's tough time for everybody. There's no doubt about it and You know it's been hard for us to adapt or essentially doing all the same things that you just said. And now I mean look at the firehouse is a place that we all Goto because we enjoy it and not being able to not being able to just fall into our regular routine just sucks. It ought to be honest. "They don't happen up here anymore reason but he's speaking of that. There was a bunch of fires in Lawrence mass a little over a year ago and number of two thousand eighteen. Let's get you into that because you know. The premise of the background. On that over pressurized gas lines. I only know though what I had read as background. Gotcha Hardee's you got to hear it. Because it's pretty impressive event. That happened and it lasted just did last forever. You know the day. That went down the trickle. Down of everything. There's still dealing with stuff. So yeah so. Thank you for coming on. Thank you for traveling. All the way from Wisconsin just to get on this show. Oh yeah that was. That was the whole deliver to see some of my mentors. Damn cold cold. I'm telling you though. I'm I'm addicted to the beach. So the first thing we did want you drove up here. We had to stop. I've never seen the ocean so the very first time was less just just this past year in Kitty Hawk North Carolina. It's beautiful I was the yes. Yeah I went hang gliding on the same dunes that or yeah I was just there in a row of Twenty nineteen the Outer Banks for the first time it's beautiful. Oh Yeah I think I could live there beautiful down there. You don't WanNa be there during hurricane season though. Isn't that Nice? Imagine that Americans. I'm assuming I've never been there during hurricane season but wouldn't think you'd want to be there during that time but otherwise it's beautiful all those other times a year rush anyway. We don't think much of the ocean. I grew up a half a mile from it so much for granted we do. Do you know we can't get there in the summer because there's too many tourists so we don't go in and near at the summit. Shame on US I. I'm addicted to it. Every time I got there like I just gotTa take my shoes off for a second and let me walk around and don't do that. I'm like I'm going to do it anyway. Back here in the summer though honestly. Nice on the summer. Make it a point to come back here in the summer because the main coast is just beautiful. It's all rocky. I would totally recommend to come back here in maybe start here in southern Maine and then and then if you have enough time working way up to like bar harbor up there so it is still wanna see a lobster boat so we show you. We have plenty of them in in New York. And I've only town we can wear nick and I are from perfect a million of those harbor. This is something I want to see IRA all right. "Well I. I was on the road most of the week so I was in a cell that I might usually in so I figured I would throw some big bluefields over them. Normally in prison cell right yellow. Can't say but yeah. In the cell next door got to throw a bunch of a bunch of little fields and get a bunch of Eunuchs so that was Kinda nice getting into places I can get to and we have a couple couple of our agents that came back from college. Came back to town and said why. Don't we have a first Saturday. I said well if you WANNA throw them together so we got a first Saturday Saturday about ten or twelve miles away from me which is integral good choice. The first Saturday in central Illinois and January might be Kinda cold but thanks to some industrial college kids on Christmas Christmas vacation. We got one. I think we might even have a little gadget academy swag. "The Brotherhood Academy Radio PODCAST. I'm Nick Hilton and I'm here today for your Wednesday box alarm. I want to bring up a topic. That kind of Has Been on my mind for a little bit and you know what really kind of sparked tonight. I was at work tonight and I had a crazy crazy busy shift. It was wild and it dawned on me. Obviously when I was leaving for work or leaving to go home. My relief reminded me that. Hey it's It's Thanksgiving Week and things get crazy on Thanksgiving week. which totally made sense? But what I had said to my wife I sent her a Texas it. You know my my partner and I really need a drink after work. We really need one and she's like. Why don't you go have a drink and I said I got thinking about. I was like now I'm not going to do that. And one reason I'm I'm exhausted and too. I don't have a change of clothes so I'm in my uniform. I work uniform. So the coming thinking about representation. In how we represent our agencies that we belong to so obviously. I'm not going to go to a bar after work wearing my dispatcher. Uniform right I would just wouldn't be appropriate to do but how many of us out there As volunteer on call firefighters are wearing our fire shirts or wearing a shirt that represents that we are a firefighter. Her even if it doesn't show your agency name on how many of us do that and be willing to bet it'd be quite a few of us out there right. It's good to keep doubt in mind that if you're going out to have a drink or you are going out To do something that might be Kinda stupid. I Dunno young kids do stupid things things like I dunno modding. That's what we do Dublin Maine here. We used to do Mudan. I didn't do much of it but a lot of mainers do that. You know just Kinda in mature stuff. I guess we want to always remember that. We are representing our agency. Okay maybe that's not a good example. MODDING I don't even know no like I said it's been a long day. Seems kind of silly. Doesn't it think about how the crazy things that you did when you're younger or if you are young in your twenties or whatever whatever you do some fun stuff. Setting off firecrackers or launch off. Fireworks are just just stuff. Because you're young and you WANNA live life. Think about it. Think about this before you do it. Think about the agency you belong to. Do you want to be representing your agency in a negative way. The same goes for driving driving around town. Most of us have some sort of sticker on our vehicle that shows that we're a firefighter. Or You may have a firefighter plate. Some sort of identification location somewhere on your vehicle will show that you are a member of a fight apartment. You GotTa be careful when you're out and about in traffic you don't WANNA be speeding. You don't WanNa be passing assing. You don't WanNa be running red lights. Running stop signed Giving hand gestures and getting some road rage stuff going on you. Don't WanNa do that. Because you're representing your agency Z.. And even further when you are going to a call in your personal vehicle you want to be cautious as well I just got done teaching. Kabq course and that was the one topic that talked about when you're going to call on your personal vehicle one in our state anyway. We're not covered if we get into an accident not covered by the town of the municipality. which on we're on our own their liabilities on her own? But you're also a rolling billboard and even more so when when you're driving a fire truck right if you're driving a department vehicle with the name of the department plastered all over it. You're driving a rolling billboard. So it's it's up to us to make sure that we are at our best behavior right. We want to be representing our agency. The best that we possibly can. We WanNa be showing that we are professional that we're kind that were courteous and let our public know that they can trust us right if somebody's barrel in down through town in their personal vehicle and scream at squealing tires or doing something stupid and you've got a firefighter play on. What kind of trust does that. Show your tax tax payers in your citizens. It really doesn't. It may show that that the firemen are just a bunch of immature kids that WANNA bomb around in their big trucks and and you you know speed or break the law you know what I mean. Run Stop signs or just do stupid things so think about that before you make a decision to go out to to a bar or to do something stupid with your friends right. It's okay to every once in a while the do something stupid when you're young you can you. Can you can do that right. We've all done it I'm not saying go out and do something stupid right now but if you know what I mean if you do it. Hey we've all done it but just use some caution right. Use Your head. Don't represent the fire department and even if you're not wearing the shirt even if you don't have the sticker on your truck or the plate on your car you could be well known in your community that you are in fact a representative of the Fire Department and then keep keep in mind too. If you do get in trouble with the law say you Are Driving drunk and you'll get arrested for. Dwi or you. You do anything where you're intoxicated. Get into a fight or anything like the headlines in the newspaper. They're not going to say it's not going to say hey so own so or or male was arrested for. Dwi or something. No it's GONNA say. Firefighter was arrested for domestic violence. A firefighter fighter was arrested for this. Or that okay. That is something that's gotTa stick in your head that something you've got to continually think about and You got to represent you're going to be held to a higher standard all right so that's my thought for the night. I hope you guys have a wonderful thanksgiving. I hope it's full of family full of joy and full of delicious food and we'll be talking to you again on Sunday episode. So thank you guys for listening and everybody. Please be safe devote their that concludes this week's Wednesday box alarm. "Agent academy absurd number fifty nine recorded on June third two thousand nine gene I'm agent Gooney Guy and I'm agents only belly and welcome to a new show and I'm already clicking on things I do it automatically try it wasn't good try there's a lot of good tries fast yeah I had a lot of good I try things out and we'll be talking about that today during the show during news times mm-hmm and situation report but We we've had some things we've done I guess over the past week and a half and the last episode of show God see you in person that was Kinda cool which is the first time you know because it's awesome so sign it is my gotTa Mitchell he's that is really cool he liked y'all he thought funny and so anyway what does you've been up to me I thought we were GonNa do you I well let's see I got my Platt Trekker they got my gold connector and that's like the boringest stuff I guess I we have a new player that I've I don't know if I wrangled him into to playing the game of other coworkers wrangled him into playing the game but we have a new CO worker playing and he's already level six nights so yeah so we gotta get unverified locally and that gives me so close to those like instigates I'm like Oh so you you in six or seven people yes you need one more I have another person on the fence so there's some coming up soon I'm pretty sure I give away prizes every week and occasionally the prizes are tempting but not tempting enough the week I gave out green bubble ones like a lot of people were like hey played stupid game of life ah or you go to the dollar store and buy bet effort like when they show up in your office yeah I walk around and put them on their desks so if they're not at their desk they just come back to the surprise under does so it's Kinda cool Yup yeah so I have a contest each week about like whoever gets the most Ip for that week get like the top three or hover many of the things I bought get the prizes so that's how that works yeah everybody kind of gets people noticing like hey what are they doing so we get on recruiter badge action for any of the zero because the way the recruiter badges setup is not good because it's so hot explain to a new person like okay yeah you can download the download the game use the email you and click that from your phone and then download it from their ears I get credit and they're always like but I consider it here and APP store I can just click it right yeah you can and you don't want to bother someone who's like like getting someone to the point where they're gonNA download the game and go through that twenty minutes to to`real you already don't WanNa lose them it's like barrier it's just I just I'd rather not throw up the obstacles I got my two credit credit for two so the badge unlocked at least I'm happy with that like I don't like I don't care that's fine so let's see I missed out for Saturday for June for good reasons it was my besties baby cue which sounds like it's a baby barbecue but babies it's not that we're barbecuing babies it's that instead having a baby shower she wanted to have a barbecue their friends because she's one of those people she's like most of my friends are like guys and girls and so traditional we're just like she's like that's like half my friends can't let's just have a barbecue it's now at the same time yeah and it was really great except There was a horrendous like thunder storm that blew through and so the all the decorations and Steph were up for like maybe twenty minutes before like thunder storm and hail and we didn't see the hell but it was a round people driving into the to the barbecue still like those hail apparently y'all just have thunderstorms on Saturdays apparently right because at that we'll get to that but yeah I'm sitting there I'm getting ready to eat my my Pulled Pork Sandwich and the wind comes through oh and my entire cup of Dr Pepper goes right into my food and then the wind picks up the canopy that were sitting at and it just I was passed and I'm just like the guys that are crossing relied just met like four minutes earlier he just reaches up like ebbs it with the leg of it why by like Oh my Gosh you look at Europe thing would have ended up in the street anyway it was a mess so I was kind of like I heard for Saturday people because it was local obviously they got hit pretty hard they got some hail and stuff too but it blew over about twenty minutes of crazy rain and then flew over and everything's fine but no no not that day do you want to get to your week and sure talk about you can get to that stuff sure did go to First Saturday in and it was in Birmingham Alabama couple hour and a half away from where I am and met few agents but I just so I'm doing a little test experiment on my own because there's always questions about how they p works or whatever I it seems pretty simple and I just wanted to test it because there's always this will you gotta sign up and unregister than show your stats and do all this stuff and that's really just for the people putting on the event those don't really do anything other than that because they just not true big total so anyway I went and I said Hi to some folks but then I just act the the first senator portal when it went live and then I went and waited for time and went and did my stuff and I I didn't actually like submit my scores because I I didn't even want to be on the board like I just wanted to go get my triple a. p. and and there there are some extenuating circumstances on why and I don't even know if I want to get into it we'll do that maybe later so I'll tell you about it then you tell me if I should later okay you can be my the angel on my shoulder because right now we've got the thank you anyway so so backtracking a little damn and interrupt you real lick okay I heard a rumor that there's massive video leg Oh yeah live chat what is reporting like I guess whole baby barbecues stories ruined the stream I don't know the might they'll have to watch it live are recorded I guess they recorded one is coming through fine it is the stream I see it's like kind of slide show and Pixel early so we're not dropping any frame so I don't know I blame the streaming service that's where we're clear about yeah so I'm sorry for anyone watching live hopefully it will clear up but we'll be a recorded version which kind of sucks I'm sorry the Audio Spine so that's good maybe it's the new the new stream sugar to the old one you can give it a try I don't see chat that does some weird stuff I don't know why any of that would ask what the video that we will look into it and hopefully fixing time but this is live so we must continue the show John say yeah and so at the anomaly you made you gave me all these really cool buttons they recall F. Buttons for both factions to give out I printed out so me any blue ones I made resistance ones because I was being fair I bought equal numbers I was like yeah this is GonNa be good just give them out give them away and it would have been awesome yes would have been awesome did you not make it to the anomaly so genetic see people they're not people at the anomaly so I'm not so used to like big city traffic and when my son component up to this window in the middle of the city also only it felt like Oh my God we got to 'cause there's all these guys around the car waiting to get the keys.

Gooney Guy Agent academy twenty minutes four minutes
