UConn routs Gonzaga 82-54 for first Final Four in 9 years

"The Connecticut huskies are headed to the final four for the first time since 2014 after an 82 54 west regional final win over Gonzaga. Yukon scored the final three points of the first half and then started the second half on a 21 to 5 run. Huskies head coach Dan Hurley. Obviously we were just playing at a super high level, but we're not, I don't think we're obviously surprised by the margin of victory, but not surprised about where we're going next because this is who we've been for a large part of the season. Cody McMahon scored 18 of her team high 23 points in the first half as the buckeyes stopped the husky short of the final four for the first time since 2007. We looked at it as any other game and I feel like that's really what helped us not to feed in the fact that they are Yukon. This is a great program. Why Simon Campbell Went to War With Local Pennsylvania Authorities

"Those who missed our chat on my newsmax show recently in the last time you were on the show, just give us a little crazy little summary of why you went to war with the local authorities in Pennsylvania and who ended up winning eventually. Yeah, right. Well, the local school board in Pennsylvania a bunch of 9 left wing radical liberals were silencing people at public comments, three citizens before me got silenced. That's why I showed up in Malibu. They weren't allowed to speak. Exactly. They showed up a public comment to criticize the critical race theory program and they were basically told to shut up, sit down and be quiet. And it was all on videotape. So I found out about it. And I'm like, right, well, you're going to get a piece of my mind. And they tried to shut me up as you saw. And so the four of us sued them in federal court for First Amendment violations. And we won an injunctive order against the district saying you're not allowed to enforce this piece of garbage unconstitutional speech policy. And then they ended up selling the case for $300,000. Paid to the lawyers, of course, because the lawyers make the money. And for my trouble as a plaintiff, I got the grand total of $17 91 cents. Now you tell me Sebastian, 1791. Does that ring a bell to you? I love it. I just want to know, how did you engineer that your reward was $70 and 91 cents? Well, here's the thing. When you file a First Amendment lawsuit, you can only get what's called nominal damages because it's not like you're claiming you broke your back or anything like that. And so you have to put a figure in for the court and I said, well, I will update it. It means something. I want the year the Bill of Rights as enacted. I want those suds to send a British citizen a check for 1791 and don't mess with it, but a citizen's First Amendment rights again or I'll get 1791 from you.

Boris Epshteyn Reacts to Ron DeSantis' Latest Interview

"Talk about the disaster that is Alvin Bragg, but first things first. A couple of disastrous interviews for Ron DeSantis without pathetic individual peers and Morgan, then he didn't exactly shower himself with glory with my colleague at Eric bolling, and then Ron DeSantis had this comment to make, which I found rather amusing. This is cut 5 baron your reaction. So here's the thing, I think these are people who are in the political class, journalists class, politicians, and like D.C. in particular, they get mad, I don't do the cocktail parties. I don't like rubbing elbows with other people. I like doing my job and then spending time with my family. That's just what I do. A lot of the people that are criticizing, you know, they would say, oh, he doesn't do well with donors. He doesn't glad him with him. And yet I raise more money than any non presidential candidate in the history of America. Are you kidding me? So we tend to do. We do well. But I do think that ideal better with regular people than I do with some of the people in the political class. Help me out here, mister senior adviser for the Trump 2024 campaign. Allegedly, the governor of Florida doesn't like robbing elbows with donors, doesn't do the cocktail circuit, but he didn't speak at cpac because he wasn't a big fundraiser. I'm confused. Help me out, baron. There is anything to use a considering that he just had a few weeks ago I had a whole concept multi day concept at a very decrepit, very every day, very middle American resort called the four seasons in Palm Beach, Florida. This is absolute typical establishment nonsense like Mitt Romney used to find in an airplane to Iowa and get into a get into a fancy car. Find those private jets, get into a fancy limo and then get into a Chevrolet to go to a rally. Typical inauthentic old school politics, which has failed time and time again and it is not what the American people want. The American people want authenticity from president Donald J Trump.

Every Bad Idea Comes From a College With Candace Owens

"Look at the world right now in America and this is a fact. We have never produced students that have graduated with lower IQs. It is a fact, since the establishment of the Department of Education, the collective IQ is going down in America, okay? So they federalize the education system and we're getting dumber and dumber and dumber. If you go back and you reread the writings of people that had no formal education and were Civil War soldiers, read what they wrote to their parents, it's like poetry. The way that they describe what they're seeing when they're writing letters back home, no average American can write like that. I would be challenged to write like that. It's literally poetic. So what has happened? How is it plausible that we've never produced kids with this law of a collective IQ? And yet, at the exact same time, we have never handed out more degrees in American society. Does that make sense? Does that can we chart that how are we kids are getting dumber with their getting more degrees? And why is that happening? But because the government understands that to give you a degree is to give you an inflated sense of ego, right? How stupid to think that you should spend four years and a $100,000 to receive a degree in gender studies. You don't dumb that is. You don't have done that is. You get out into the real world. And what happens is you realize that nobody in the history of the world anywhere at any time ever said quick, get me a gender studies major. I really need a gender studies major to help me in this. It's never happened. So these kids spend all of their time getting these degrees four years, $25 that they go into the world and they get punched in the face by free markets and capitalism. They realize nobody wants them. And then they turn around and they meet these kids that didn't go to college, right? They didn't acquire any debt that jumped right into the workforce that have real skills and can work with their hands and they realize, hey, wait a second, Johnny, that I went to high school with and has no debt is now running a business where he fixes AC's and he's cleaning up and he's making millions a year. How is that possible? Because let me tell you, everybody at some point in their life, especially if they live in the south, they said, please, for the love of God in the summertime, I will pay you anything to fix my air conditioner,

Which is big news for newsmax. I'm sure they're celebrating over there. Here's Eric. Talking to our colleague, Sebastian gorka, and doctor G doesn't sound like he's much of a Ron DeSantis fan. Let's just say the governor of Florida has not shout himself in glory in the last four days. Let's remind everybody that president Trump is a resident of the state of Florida that he is governor of. He says nothing for 48 hours about the impending arrest of the 45th and potentially 47th president of the United States. And then in the press conference on Monday on another topic he's asked and he does this snarky thing twice. He has to talk about hush money for porn stars twice and get giggles from the peanut gallery. It's an NDA. I signed an NDA with president Trump in 2015 and I ain't no porn star. I was writing security papers for the presidential nominee debate and an NDA is absolutely normal. So the idea that he says this is none of our business I'm going to concentrate on Florida. You're a former jagran rule of law should matter to you in the interview with pays Morgan was a bloody embarrassment.

Our Country Deserves a Moralistic Standard

"I honestly believe in our country we should have a standard. I don't think that, you know, you should be mad at somebody if they want to identify with a certain way and be gay or whatever. But I do think that there should be things put in place to keep a moralistic standard, which means that marriage is between a man and woman and that's it. If you want to have some type of government, recognition, then you can call it a civil union with benefits and all other stuff that come with what they call government sanctioned marriages or government related marriages. You could do that, but just don't call it marriage. Because then when you call it marriage, then you start encroaching on all kinds of other things that are morally inconsistent. I believe with the foundation of this country. And the same thing with like trans and stuff. Okay, you can be trans, but you have to be an adult. It is against the law, the transition your kids outside of the age of 18. That's what I think should happen. Give them kids a chance to grow up, give them a chance to figure out what they're doing in life. It's a young girl, jazzy, what's her name, Jennings? "Blocking. With one download. Duck duck. Go privacy, simplified. From NPR and vur. I'm Robin Young. And I'm Tanya Mosley. It's here and now the skies over New York City lit up with fireworks last night to celebrate the state's lifting of coronavirus restrictions and across the country here in Los Angeles, more than 50,000 people fill Dodger Stadium for the first opening with full capacity. But as people celebrate the progress we've made in fighting Covid 19. The disease continues to claim lives more than 600,000. People have died in our country from Covid 19. That's more than the population of Baltimore. So what do we still need to know? And do as we work our way out of this pandemic. Let's bring in Dr Critica Kapali. She's an infectious disease expert at the Medical University of South Carolina. Welcome back. Hi. Thanks for having me. Doctor. Are you worried that we may be moving too fast and declaring victory over Covid 19? You know, I am a little bit concerned that we might be moving a bit too fast. I think that one of the things that I've learned the last year and a half is that every step of the way we get thrown curveballs when it comes to Covid 19. I think that, um we've been humbled by the virus and we've been Humbled by these new variants that we keep learning about. And, um, I do worry that we might be moving a bit too fast. Um, as we continue to learn about how these variants of concern are working, and and also, um, you know, we're still learning about how various populations of people are responding to the vaccine. And so I think, um, without having much more information about that, um, I get worried about Um, as prematurely declined victory, particularly when we're seeing what's happening around the west of the world with cases surging. Um you know, not just in parts of Southeast Asia but in Africa in the UK, you know all over the place. Right? Well about those variants, the CDC officially declared the delta variant of the virus a variant of concern. What does that mean? And how concerned should Americans be about this variant? Yeah. So, um, a variant of concern is a variant where there's evidence of increasing transmissibility. We see more severe disease and also a reduction in neutralization of antibodies that are generated during prior infection or vaccination. So it is concerning and and we've seen that this Delta variant is the most contagious variant that we've seen. Thus far. We know that it spreads about 50 to 60% faster than any of the other variants that we've seen. So it's more contagious than the prior variant. Um and you know, all one has to do is see what's happened in India. And over in, um, the U. K to get an idea of how concerning it should be just in the United States. So far, we've seen that it went from accounting for less than 3% of all infections to more than 6% and may account for almost 10% of all infections, and there's concern it will become the dominant street here so You know, um, that being said The one thing that we do see is that the vaccines still work relatively well against this variant. So that's good, But we need to be worried about the people who are not fully vaccinated. Those who have not been vaccinated and again, Um we're still learning about how the vaccines work and people who may be immune compromise, so I think it could cause outbreaks and parts of the country where people haven't been vaccinated. Let's talk a little bit more about those people who are most at risk. We know that the death rate has gone down dramatically since January, but there's still about 300 people who die from this disease on average every day. At this stage. Who are the people? We know some immuno compromised those who have not been vaccinated. But who are the people dying at relatively high rates? Who's at most risk net right now? Well, there's a study that came out recently from the CDC that people who are not getting vaccinated are mostly people in rural areas. Those are people who are less likely to have received the full course of the vaccine. So those are people where I'm most worried about. We are seeing younger people who are getting, um, a voted with disease because there's still that narrative out there that younger people can't get infected and then also our racial and ethnic minorities who they're still disparities when it comes to vaccination. So those are people we still really need to reach and we need to work with our healthcare providers or pharmacies are faith leaders and community partners to identify and address barriers to get people vaccinated. There's still a lot that we're learning, and there's still a lot of things we need to keep in mind. Safety precautions. I have just under 30 seconds with you. You know, we're not having the discussion anymore about masks and social distancing, But those are still very important steps to take right, doctor. I only have 15 seconds. Yes, Absolutely. Those are very important steps to take, especially in areas where there has not been great uptake of the vaccine, and if you're immune compromised especially very important. Dr Critica Kapali, infectious disease expert at the at the Medical University of South Carolina. I look forward to talking with you again. Thank you. Well. President Biden and Putin have had their hugely anticipated first meeting in Geneva. They are holding separate news conferences. President Biden has yet to speak. But here's Russian President Putin, speaking through an interpreter. I think there was no hostility Quite the contrary. Meeting took place. Principally speaking. Many of our positions. We don't share the same positions in many areas. But I think that both of these sides showed a willingness to understand one another. And to find ways to bring our positions closer together. The talks were quite constructive. No hostilities quite constructive. So what can we discern NPR White House correspondent Scott Detroit is here, Scott. It is very early days. But what is your initial reaction to what we've seen and heard in Geneva? You know, I think I think we all know at this point in time that we need to hear both sides of the story before we can make any firm conclusions. And of course, we are waiting to hear from President Biden. But I think That headline right there in that clip right. There shows that at least the very low bar that the White House had set for this meeting. To have a conversation to try and restore communications and get to a point of stability may have succeeded. There were a lot of questions of whether the fact that this meeting did not last quite as long as the White House said it might meant that things did not go well. But you're hearing Vladimir Putin right there saying, you know, as we heard useful talks, no hostility That was really the bar. The White House was trying to meet just to have conversations again, because really this relationship It is at a post Cold War low point Yeah, well, it did go on for about four hours. Do we know anything about what was actually discussed? We don't. I mean, Vladimir Putin is still speaking right now, And he's being asked about issue by issue, so we're still trying to get a clear sense. I think we'll we'll get a clear readout from the White House. At one point, we do know that going into this meeting, the White House had a lengthy list of topics, everything from Cybersecurity. Of course, the White House is pin blame on recent high profile ransomware attacks on on criminals within Russia, not necessarily Russian state actors, but people inside Russia. 22 nuclear stability to climate change to, of course, Putin's annexation of Crimea and Ukraine, something the international community has has has has opposed for years and really pushed back again. So a wide range of topics but again over and over. You heard the president and his advisers saying, We're just beginning conversations and and the fact that Putin says there was an agreement for Ambassador. Relationships to return seems to be a sign that it might have worked..

"Make sure you taste the pasta before you take it out of the water but the pasta should be al dente. Cut the avocado into small cubes and place it in a dish. Of course you're going to appeal the avocado and take out the nut in the middle. Then you're going to cut it into small cubes. Place it in the dish. The lemon juice is squeezed. That on top of the avocado does not get brown. You're going to set that aside. Clean the shrimp plays two tablespoons of olive oil in a saute pan and Heat that then. You're going to place in the shrimp that has been puled in clean and saute for one minute. I'd in the white wine saute that for about four minutes you know not too long because shrimp can get rubbery and until all the liquid has just about evaporated. You're going to remove that from the heat and set that aside. Drain your pasta. By this time. The pasta should be done. Drain the pasta. Well at the pasta into the saute pan with shrimp ad in the avocado cubes. The fresh corn another tablespoon of olive oil. And you're going to toss and serve this immediately while it's still warm and then you're going to garnish it with chopped fresh parsley and you know great some fresh pepper and pinch of salt on top if you would like. I don't use a lot of salt in my cooking but if you like the salt you know a little pinch of fresh all will do and there. You have it. So that's my penny pasta with fresh corn shrimp.

With just five months to go until the German election, the race has begun to replace Chancellor Angela Merkel, who's stepping down after 16 years in office. And as May Nicholson reports, the two main candidates are laying claim to Merkel's centrist legacy. Post Merkel era is imminent, something and anxious German electorate has been trying to ignore.
