Do People 25 or Younger Know What Happend on 9/11?

"Mentioned that on friday but saturday was the actual anniversary of nine. Eleven if you have a grandchild or child who is under twenty five. That means they would have no recollection of the event. That's a lot of people. Anyone under twenty five th and believe me for all intents and purposes twenty six twenty seven would probably fit to how much the remember of the in the news when you were six. I'm dennis prager by the way and welcome to the show so you ask them what happened on nine eleven. Just say what happened on nine eleven. Don't even give the year that'll confuse them can expect them to know that much. Two thousand one. What happened on nine. Eleven if you Have a nephew niece grandchild child and they are again a under twenty five twenty six years of age. Ask them what happened on nine eleven. My my suspicion is that many will not know and if they know they will say. The america was attacked by airplanes. I i i don't know if they'll use the word terrorist than i don't know if identify them as islamist on ice. I strongly suspect they won't identify them. Which is sort of like saying what happened at pearl harbor. America was attacked. By whom don't know the that would be an analogous example. So i if you have any answer to that love to. I mean you would have to be tomorrow. Obviously but i would be very interested. You send me an email. Dennis prager dot com. I would be most interested in knowing what the twenty five or under in your life would answer that question very good and then show them the preview video. If if you can't ask your grandchild or your child for five minutes. I don't want to the press you that shows year really walking on eggshells with your own child or grandchild

"May be in the waning days of summer. But they're still plenty to do and as we do most fridays. We are getting some recommendations for arts and culture events. This weekend brendan kiley. Covers arts and culture for the seattle times. Brendan welcome back. Hi thanks so much for having great to have you okay. Your first pick is for a campy lounge show we like camps and we like lounge so tell us more about this right so it's called. Mrs pacman breakout. It's at the west hall of the century ballroom on capitol hill and it runs Thursday through sunday and The character is based on the iconic eighties video game character. Miss pacman by this fantastic comedy actor. Scott shoemaker who anthropomorphized her But made her sort of a bitter and angry trainwreck. Oh that's hilarious brennan. I used to ride miss pacman for like forty five minutes on a single quarter. I'm giving myself away there. But i want i which she can't be a train wreck. She's miss pacman. Well i'm impressed by your video. Game skills But yeah the ideas that she peaks in the eighties and has been cratering ever since and now. She's trying to resuscitate her career as a lounge act. But she's a mess you know she sings. She dances sometimes begrudgingly. But what she really wants to do. Is tell us confessional stories about her divorce in her pill problems her affairs her wreckage and there is a dose of schadenfreude in there which makes it feel like a bit of a guilty pleasure but his entertaining is that is. There's something else going on here. Who was all about cruelty and making fun of her. The show wouldn't work You know there's something relatable about her and her frustration with the world. I think if you ever feel like your life has been one long blooper reel or people aren't taking you seriously as you like. You have a friend in miss pacman.

Biden Calls Xi as US-China Relationship Grows More Fraught

"Us president joe biden has held a lengthy phone conversation with his chinese counterpart xi jinping the first time the leaders from the world's most powerful countries have talked in seven months. A white house statement said both men had discussed. The responsibility of both nations to ensure competition does not veer into conflicts. Let's get more on this now with former. Us diplomat. Louis lukens lose now. A senior partner at the consultancy cigna global. Good afternoon to you lou and tell us this phone call after a hiatus does he represent a real meaningful breakthrough in your view. Hey tom i think it's too early to tell. If this is a meaningful breakthrough. But i think it is significant. As you mentioned there was a quite a height as they hadn't spoken the two leaders for seven months and this book for ninety minutes yesterday which include interpretation that that's forty five minutes of substantive discussion so it's meaningful in the sense that it's important. The leaders of these two countries communicate and talk and try to find areas that they can cooperate and work together. And that's what joe biden has been trying to. Do i think so whether this results in a ratcheting down of tension. I think remains to be seen. But it's certainly a step in the right direction

Tracking Growth Marketing in 2021

"Gonna be talking about growth marketing day. All kinds of really important subjects obviously was fintech as focused jonathan. You're up here but you're muted. Because twitter likes to annoy people that way. John are you there i am. Hello danny how are you good. We're getting people through this tunnel one next. We're going to get marianne set up here in just a second but in the meantime i'm going to introduce our speaker today. So jonathan metric is the chief growth officer at portage ventures or advises a global portfolio with companies including wealth simple in canada albert in the us and clark in germany previously. He was the chief marketing officer of policy. Genius when the largest intertek marketplace's leading a division of forty plus growth marketers in scaling revenue. Kennex over three years jonathan. Welcome thank you thank you very much. It's great to be here and excited to be on this new pop pharmacist by twitter spaces. Hang out so. I'm excited to see kind of how this goes and great to chat with you to today but growth and fintech absolutely. Well i will say it's gone from alpha to beta at this point. It was pretty janke the first few times we did this. Maybe two three months ago. And i think the android app is now working at doesn't crash every five minutes. Good started when you think about growth and twenty twenty one i i to me growth has been the uber story of the entire year in every company is growing. The marketing channels are getting congested. Cat costs are going up on almost every pay channel. It's more competitive than ever on organic. What are you thinking about these days when it comes to growth in two thousand twenty one. Yeah i mean. I think you you hit the nail on the head there right and i think you know if we dial it back a little bit to the beginning of cova. I think there was a bit of a pause on you. Know is the sky falling. Are we going to be growing all right. And i think you know a couple of months after that in twenty twenty we saw immediate rebound with folks just kind of shifting attention to online direct ways of buying products that weren't necessarily in person direct to consumer. And you know. I think growth really road that way right and when i think of gross you know i think it's more around folks who are looking at driving revenue for their business and that can involve marketing can involve product and Components performance marketing.

"So I said, What is this full talking about? So I go back. And of course, he cherry picks from media matters. He didn't listen to the over four minutes. Discussion. I had about this over four minutes and media matters. Filled with low EQ prepubescent buffoons. The hard left. Even they provide the audio. They have added five minutes and 12 seconds. And what I was talking about. At the time was the messaging and marketing of the C. D. C. Which is utterly convoluted. Certainly in July. Were there telling people at one point get the vaccination at the other point, the vaccination doesn't protect you from the delta Variant. Remember all that Mr Producer? So I said, Well, then why I get the vaccination. I wasn't telling you not to get the vaccination. I was saying Then what's the point of being vaccinated? If they're trying to say two things at the same time? Yeah, get vaccinated, but it won't protect you from the delta very. And I said they got to provide the data. The data, meaning well, how many people are getting this Delta variant? And how many people are dying from the delta variant, very tiny percentage of people. Killed by the Delta variants. That was it. That was the whole thing. Pretty much. But now I'm an anti vax or you see, And why are all these? These host dying? From the vaccine. You have these wonderful people. These wonderful people like Phil Valentine, but he's not the only one. Mm. Who take a principled stance. And then maybe they change their minds or something like that. And these guys are dancing on their graves.

Biden Faces the Fallout for His Chaotic Retreat in Afghanistan

"A decision was made biden faces. The fallout for his chaotic retreat. In afghanistan by brian bennett. It was the first time. Joe biden had witnessed dead americans returning home from foreign battlefield as president and commander in chief the bodies of eleven marines a navy medic. An army staff sergeant arrived on. Us soil on sunday. August twenty ninth all killed in a suicide bombing at the kabul airport on august. Twenty sixth amid america's chaotic exit from afghanistan after twenty years of war for thirty five minutes as the flag draped cases were carried down the ramp of an air force c seventeen cargo plane at dover air force base in silence except for the home of aircraft engines and muted troop commands. Biden stood in front of the cold reality of his decisions. A series of fateful choices over the past six months drew a tragic line to that moment it was biden who in april settled on august thirty first date for withdrawing u s forces from afghanistan. It was biden who chose a minimum number of us troops to secure the exit and it was biden updated in intelligence briefings and meetings over the summer who oversaw his administration's abandonment of a key. Airbase the delay in evacuating us citizens and allies and belated scramble to provide more troops to get everyone out safely. Hard decisions are histories. Acid test for precedents. It's easy to forget amid the posturing and politics but the architecture of american power means there are some calls that only the president can make and when it came to afghanistan biden was determined to make them he had watched the wars launch. As the senate's top foreign policy overseer nearly twenty years ago then fault and lost an efforts to end it as vice president since announcing the exit he has never publicly wavered on that

"Thanks for joining me. I'm really excited to catch up and and learn. I'm stuttering because i can't believe this is the first time we're talking to you. But thanks for coming on. I'll thank you raviol- super excited before we jump in and start talking about a raza. Can you give us some perspective. Kind of dial back because mankind is not. It's not a name that came out of nowhere. There's really important history. Can you talk about that a little bit. I sure mankind comes from our founder named alfred mann and now man was a true innovator he started i think seventeen companies and everything from you know to cook lawyer. Implants to the pacemaker To insulin pumps that many of us know. Today's medtronic used to be called mini. Med and now man built on pumps over the eighties nineties and was very successful and sold that company to medtronic and then he took literally one billion dollars of his own money and invested in mankind and he had put this coming together Through three companies the on the technology to make a freezer would was was really combination of companies. And the reason he was so dedicated as he saw in the market which we now see today on c. gm was that the variability in mealtime control was so high and fluctuations. You see the influence takes about an hour and a half to kick in. And it's hard to get real time control if you can't get a fast acting insulin. And so he stood up to make a real thing. Insulin so president inhaled Monarch and that was really what the magic was in our technology making a dry powder was was if you heard different face cream. We have basically large dob machines and our our factory reverie free dry the particles to make a freezer and Under stabilized monomer form. So when you're inhaling you're inhaling informed that soon as it's in your blood active for when you inject it has its heck summer and has the breakdown about forty five minutes. And that's how you can make it stabilize in injectable form But it has to break down and then starts working. And that's why there's always dislike effect between you know we see jekyll. On inhaled also very different products were categorized with mealtime rapid acting but named mankind comes from alabama and guy who probably sixty people in pumps there pumpkin. He created so on amazing. Gentlemen huge contributions diabetes and people alive today because of his work and his generosity. Rovan take that forward here and kids and frozen hilton

"Circle back sake is going to circle back to reporters once they get more information on how to get americans out of afghanistan. Yeah that's that's that's gotta be great comfort to the loved ones of people who are trapped in afghanistan. Going to be hard to get people out of afghanistan's airport if they're blowing up the airport. This is a catastrophic debacle. The worst foreign in foreign policy implosion in a long long time. Here's the fox. News channel report moments go of the explosion at the outside the kabul airport. The explosion unclear. How big comes hours. After the state department warned americans outside to quote leave immediately do the increasing terrorist threat. Also lucas reports. The secretary of state lincoln said yesterday. There was a very real possibility of an attack. So that's from the pentagon standby we should get a briefing there in about thirty five minutes. Dana back to fox news. There's fox news reporting on what appears to be a major event An explosion outside the kabul airport. There are images coming through of bloodied dazed victims of what appears to be a huge explosion. The timing of all of this is fascinating. There's a lot of things going on that. Make one wonder if there is an almost other worldly aspect to this in other words Things couldn't be going worse for those who have an agenda that seems to be destructive to the united states. this is a terrible terrible time for democrats. "Robber. Why don't you just give us a little brief I don't know three five minute Synopsis of your career. How how do you go from from a high school kid to becoming chairman of the national transportation safety while that's a great question. I've been wondering the same thing for a number of years so I i've i've been extremely fortunate You're right. I did start flying in high school By the time. I had graduated from high school. I i had my private and then of course went to college a few months later and i marched into the dean of students office after i've been at the university for just about three weeks in explain to him why we needed a flying club and then he sat down and proceeded to tell me all the reasons why that was not going to happen and on the way out and by the way this was the university of south carolina and on the way out. I said gosh. I just thought since clemson had flying club since one thousand nine hundred ninety eight i thought south carolina needed one and He said Sit back down young man and within about five months we had our first airplane For those who are not That aware is you can imagine having to state supported schools in a tiny state. There's quite a rivalry between those two between those colleges unfortunately clemson as the one with the with the football team the question is did clemson really have a flying club. Well you know as a seventeen year old. I was probably known to exaggerate things a little bit. But but to the best of knowledge. I think they they did so high school. What what what's next were you. "Something to share that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with yes. What's up fire nation. So when it comes to real estate and entrepreneurship people think that you always have to work hard to accomplish your goals and your dreams. The reality is you gotta work smart. You gotta be able to delegate and and make sure that you are sharpening the saw and just be very efficient with your with your habits. Yeah what was that. Abraham lincoln quote that if he had an hour to cut down a tree he's been the i fifty five minutes sharpening the blade so thick above that fire nation. You're going through your process ends. As i mentioned in the introduction we have both kierra in khalil on the mike today. We're gonna be talking all about building a seven figure real estate business using other people's money so before you turned thirty you had a seven figure business. You owned an entire city block and baltimore. I mean how the heck does this even happen. I barely have my driver's license at thirty. Yeah i mean it was really when we were about a year out of college. We really trying to figure out what this whole thing was gonna look like. It was around the time period when we were talking about there not being enough funds for social security in people taking about their pensions or started. Put money in retirement funds our full-time jobs and we realized that this was not probably going to be it for us and that we really needed to figure out how to take the reins on what our future was going to look. Like and real estate became that space or we decided to get really focused and intentional about building our portfolio there for that long term flow being able to that appreciation but also be able to impact the community in the neighborhoods in which we are investing And so you know. We didn't have a trust fund. We weren't legacy you know real estate developers but really Decided to work smart and be intentional about how he's been our time to be able to build that portfolio

"The whole story about how you ended up in hertel corentin in itself is really quite unfortunate. Pap how come. You ended up in quarantine. Well originally when i book my flight on didn't have a great big long layover like i ended up with While i was in darwin i ended up. Having my flights changed for different time. I think it was the last change not long before i left. Darwin that gave me a layover of twenty three hours. Twenty five minutes in melbourne. And i thought to myself well. I am not staying in the epo for all that time with that. Thinking of any of the light problem that might occur. I just booked myself into the closest mitchell that could which was the ibis airport motel which is six hundred meters away. And yes. I've just had a look at the on. The map. pins like the ibis budget hotel at melbourne airport is basically within the april precinct. It's a short walk from terminal and it's you know it is the only hotel around albany. Puerto says it's not quiet currently quarantined. I tell us it would have been the only option for an overnight stop but queensland consider that to be entering carpet hotspot. Yes and i didn't really a look should have done more research before i left because i didn't attempt to fill in the queensland boorda pass until i actually arrived in melvin so that was when my panic started when i was in the hotel and sort of read started to read the instructions and that you know have i transited through a hot spot and i thought well. Currently melvin is a hot spot. It wasn't went. Ibew the tickets and another thing that i thought was a beat. We'd was that. Why would virgin have put me on a flight that went via from darwin to melbourne. Full that long and then debris brisbane. The next day knowing that melbourne was out spot.

"Let's kick things right off. Ways your opinion about the challenges that exist in the digital forms of identity in the world that we live in today the challenges Let's be honest. We have a lot of challenges. How and When to Fuel Your Body While Running a Half Marathon

"If any in place for fuelling during a half marathon before during after. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks so in a word girlfriend. Yes you need. You need to taking calories during a half marathon. I mean what a world of difference it'll make and also need to be drinking sooner than mile ten. You didn't ask about drinking. But i'm gonna chime in with that the adage as well. Yeah absolutely apps and this is something that i would say across. The board makes a difference the first time you do it right. Like people kind of get a little gun shy about two he and calories because they might think about their stomachs not being super tolerant of that or maybe they're nervous about you know i'm out here to run to lose weight or whatever and i don't want to take him calories and kind of go against that but i will quote. Coach jen harrison. Here she's like people never gained weight during what they ate during work from what they work and it only helps you go faster and farther and feel better right and i mean it's basically just a you know a pretty simple gas take kind of metaphor. Your muscles can only hold so much like agenda which is easily accessible fuel right. It comes in the forms of sugar basically when when you take it in sports nutrition and so sixty you have about. I mean ninety minutes worth of glycogen your muscles right but but the reality is is. It's you know you can't get down. You can't let your warning like come on before you start to refill and an expected to be you know it's going to go down no matter what over the course of a race but we want to kind of keep it as topped off possible. That's the easiest way to explain it. Yeah yeah yeah so you specifically mentioned gels christine which we appreciate us. We love our longtime pals at goo so They recently am. I think you saw at that infographics that goo released showing you know when to start to fuel and their chart says to Start with the gel five minutes before the start so. I think that's intriguing because i think most people are a lot of people probably think like. Oh it's when i started. You can actually kind of prime that pump back to the Gas tank analogy of getting it taking five minutes before so you think about that while you're in the starting corral and you wanna be taking in calories with liquid either water or noon every forty five minutes or

No. Is it because you were there after nine o'clock at night? Because that is always my experience. Yeah, I'm not talking about that thing that you're thinking of. Okay? Or that other thing, Even Okay, I know what you're thinking. I only do that on Tuesdays. We all know every location has security cameras in there. Yeah, right. Recently, customers have been reporting. They'll hear a ding sound kind of like this. And then Out of nowhere. A person's voice will come on over a speaker in the ceiling, and some people are calling it the voice of God. 7 11 God speaking to us at 7 11, this makes sense by more slim Jim. Yeah, I'll just play for you. But let me paint you a picture. Just imagine a 7 11. Nobody else is in the store. It's just one employee. He walks over to the fridge. Grabs an energy drink out and starts drinking it. And then this comes out of the ceiling and called me that you have scanned the bottle that you took from the colours about five minutes ago. Okay? Okay. Thank you. Please make sure that you scan the project father before consuming it. Why? What? That's the police of God God, catchy God catching him stealing an energy drink at work, So I'll explain kind of cool, though. Basically, 7 11 has been having issues lately. "I think if you continue to do things the same way in you see good results on. There's no reason to say stop doing that. Just because that's what you're seeing is trending right. I think it's very much about Again i hate tom. But it is true within the social media while testing in learning and the beauty within social media is that you can probably tested loud better than any marketing bosco out there right and testing learning can be done at a singular post level. If that's what you set out to do before you do it. Just make sure that you have a clear expectation of what you're trying to learn because of the old now with Makes you can very quickly to down that. Learning by looking into eighteen. Different analytic points rather than just click through rates are engagement rates number of shares. Whatever it might be. It shouldn't spirals creativity. I'm not gonna say that. It doesn't also make walking social media exhausting. Can't we're gonna come onto tested in the lead in more gambling. Want to touch on another point. That's really relevant to this. Current question james which zone around the so agility and the space fragility is so of global. Brackish mentioned it briefly about five minutes ago with the pandemic. And are you able to turn around that. Massive body work within seventy two hours. Is that something that you guys ready. Champion and focus on that agility because of social because some global organizations that can be quite tricky for instance. I mean i think you have to champion it right. Because it's a key. Differentiated full social media. Right is the speed in which he react. I think you know litany of examples where reacting for the sake of reacting is not a strong strategy. Rightness got to be a very strong pop is behind. Why you're something that's the most important thing right so doing something for the sake of doing it is never good thing in any that. Any walk of life right but especially in social media. I think it's about making sure that there is a clear pompous reason for responding something. We'll creating content in response to something robin doing it. Just because it's big deal and see people told me about the show the show and onto the test in and then important as well so it's obviously like a crucial part of what you into social stra jay but when it comes to a you know globally recognized brand. Is there a lot less room fulfil failure. And how do you counter. How do you afraid to test in. Yeah i mean. I'd be lying if i didn't say for good reason. Some lesser reasons Over the last eighteen months. I think you know that room for failure is shrunk a lot but it is Minimize dramatically right. So i think there's a lot less face full screwing up. I think that that's a good thing right. So you know. Speak to his conscious marketing What's wrong in there should be nothing wrong with overly conscious. Mon thing you know yes. It's probably a little bit of walk. That's you'd much rather be sure what you're delivering is right from a perspective of individuals versus just going on your guts You know we've seen again a hand flu examples of when you go with your gut is probably the best way to approach something so i think yes. There is definitely less room failure. But i also think that's a that's a positive evolution gonna add that you know for being such at massive organization a massive brand You guys will have several. Different count handles different profiles that you have to manage any given time create content full. I'm interested to hear how you guys collaborate between the different owners of those channels on higher able to maximize the efficiency of you'll social content and make sure everything solve in line with each of those four big crescent. Because i know it's a big job for a big jump for big brother flying and i will say it's probably something that we could always prevent right. Ri have again Teams before me. That have done a fantastic job of building up. What i recall the channel architecture. That does simplify things right. I can speak to us name. There is a massive tech brands. That i'm friendly with the head of social and when they joined They had three hundred eighty facebook pages right. So you can imagine the editorial governance and the r. y. On three hundred eighty. Facebook pages is probably not strong when less. I'm just gonna assume making up numbers camp less than ten percents of post probably got media. You know so. They were in their little echo chamber speaking to themselves probably yes. I think it's very much. We very lucky in the fact that we have a very narrow channel check show. I'm going to say on instagram. That's probably less than five or six. I think technically on could be wrong. certainly five six global global channels. And that makes things a lot easier from general competent standpoint right and there's reasons why that set up not just for that east sampling little social remarks saying in olisa. Sam points is. You're not creating a handful of different channels justice Specific narrowed audience so we do have sort of editorial style meetings not global level across all regions at that happened a monthly basis. Just to make sure the oversight of of. What's happening when ozzy that changes often because it is the well the social you know. "Correspondent and the author of Charade. The Covid lies. That crushed the nation. I'm really curious about this day because again you're one of my my New York City. Uh, Covid lockdown skeptic, folks, right? There were not a lot of us, especially the early days. There were not a lot of us. I'm not going to start calling out conservatives now, but I know some people that are On the right who were very pro Fauci. Really, until about five minutes ago. I mean, certainly until this year, um, but so I I appreciate what you've been doing all longer. I'm wondering Have you come across Anybody who Really changed their mind on this one a A true believer in the brilliance of of Governor Cuomo and Dr Fauci and masks will save us. All the way the other side of Wow, This is all just been this has been a charade as your book title indicates, like Do you know what? Because I feel like people are there so dug in to thinking that they were smart enough to know what was going on with this early on that they never want to admit, Oh, I was among the I was among the swindled. Yeah. I mean, look, there are still plenty of people out there who are so invested who put so much investment in all of this that I think they'll never Listen to reason on on this, Um And I get it, You know. Listen, if you spent a year basically locked in your own house, Uh, it's not easy to admit that that was a mistake. But I do think along the way you've seen public opinion on this move. Really at a at a couple of key junctures, right? Obviously, the first big one was the protests the moment that tens of thousands of people started gathering masks or no masks. To protest racism. You know, everybody sort of said OK, but why can't we have a Yankees game that have capacity with fast on that right that that clearly made no sense and for all the media's efforts to They try so well. Racism is a public health crisis to a ton of people at that moment, said No, This isn't working. I think another one was last winter when Cuomo shutdown indoor dining again here in New York. At the same time, released the contact tracing stuff that said dining in general was only responsible for 1.4%. The spread of the virus think that was another moment where a lot of people said. What are you doing here? And yes, certainly Over the past couple of weeks, as Fauci is, emails have emerged and as he has declared himself to literally be science I think there are more people who are willing to admit that yes, A lot of this was was a big mistake, So I am hopeful. That opinion is moving on on that, and it's important for the very reason that you said at the top, which was that we need not only accountability, but we need to make sure that We don't follow this path. You know another time? Yes. I'm worried that first of all, uh, I'm talking about this as though we're done. I mean, I'm going to be flying to Nashville next weekend. And I'm going to have to wear a mask and I'm going to have people paid by the airline. Tell me, you know when everyone does the where, you know, they always say, like, Don't crowd the Isle of you Don't pull down. Everyone was just stands up and pulls down their bags right away. They're gonna be doing the whole make sure you social distance as you exit the plane thing. And they say this and I see I think it is. Debasing. I think it's humiliating to be forced by your by your job to say, manifestly idiotic things and to enforce manifestly idiotic rules. See, this has been a problem for me all along, and maybe it's just part of my mentality. It's maybe why I do what I do and why I didn't like working for the government all that much, And there's a whole bunch of things that come together, your David. But I'm not. I'm not willing to just sort of say Okay, well, enough of it's gone. No, I want all of this gone, and I'm not going to rest until people realize this was always stupid folks. Like being told that you had to put a mask on to go walk up to the host at a restaurant and then to take it off when you sit down or when you're on a plane. Pull the mask down while you eat. Pull it up while you're sitting there. This was always more on. This was never okay. That's where I am. Yeah. Listen, my my 10 year old knew that right? When? When? When? When into our dining opened up again last year. You know, I I took my 10 year old to a restaurant. And as we were leaving, we had to get up obviously, like, walk out the door and I said, Yeah. You got to put your mask on now and he goes. He says to me right? Because the coronavirus can affect you if you're sitting down, which is 10, but I mean, like he knew that Um yes, Look, there's going to be outlier things like cruise ships and like airplanes and those it's going to be hard to To shake them from what they're doing. But, you know, I went to Mass last weekend, and I think technically In my church. You're supposed to be wearing the mask and again. I was with my son and we walked in, and I saw about 20 or 25% of the people in the pews. Didn't have masks on and I said that I started to take it off. I took mine off. And nobody said anything right? There wasn't an official rule there. It's just that slowly as more people sort of have the courage to say no, I'm not going to wear this right now. Things start to move in the in the right direction. So you know, knock on wood man, you know, hopefully, hopefully that keeps happening and happening more. We're speaking to David Marcus. You also check out his book. Called charade. The Covid lies that crushed the nation. Speaking of the nation, David, I feel like The land of the free home of the brave thing. We're not really that free..

"It was like it'll be on a front front of the doctors. Should you? Fuck about him kids. So about five minutes ago like the fuck so sad. We used for a little girl die on the river like ten minutes ago. And all of a sudden, it's like your names Olympia, which that was one of the memes people talked about it was like Olympia was talking about how she wanted to name her daughter after like, a Disney. And then she just completely goes against her wishes. The names are Olympia. Yeah. All right. That was kind of like a slap in that. You knew the name kid now, I'm going to get to the questions part. Okay. So I. What are the creatures? Like, they never explain what they are. Now, charlie. He gives an explanation of their kind of these like demons that exist all throughout, you know, each culture's mythology, and basically is like some end of the world thing that the human race is being judged and the creatures, you know, make your deepest fears manifest, you know, to, and I guess that's maybe why people are killing themselves because in the case of Douglas's wife, she sees her dead mother. And then she's compelled to kill herself. We don't know what. Mallory sister. See? She just as what the fuck is. Yeah. Kills herself or tries to crash car and then walks in traffic later, so we never definitively know what the creatures are or where they come from. And apparently in the book, it doesn't. Plane it either and the screenwriter for the movie talk to the author about it and one of the first questions that they ask is will where to creatures come from. And the author says, oh, I have no idea they had no intention on ever explaining what the creatures were how they worked or anything like that. Because again, like, I said, the movie isn't about the creatures people and how they deal with this. Okay. So now, we're about the birds. Okay. Okay. My question was why didn't the birds freak out on Gerry, but they did two fingers and to the guy who was on the river who tries to make Sandra Bullock in the kids. Take your mask off the birds freaked out every but when Gary shows up Dave and make it a point to look over at the birds when when Gary, and they don't do anything and my possible answer to this is that. The birds only since when the demons are nearby, and they can't tell when someone's possessed because Gary puts the birds in the freezer before he opens the windows. So my thinking there is he knew that the demons we're gonna show up once he opened the window. And he knew that he didn't put the birds in the freezer day with freaking out and notice something was wrong. Yeah. So they couldn't necessarily since the guy on the river. They didn't necessarily since fish fingers. Close by when they were showing up, and that's why the birds freaked out. So that kind of kind of explains that. But my other question is why were the other people who got possessed like immediately into trying to make you look. But Gary of just played it off like has remember when I saw them in a house, his is weren't all crazy normal. He was just like, oh, no. He has his whole story about how the crazy people tried to make them look and yada, yada. The only thing I can think is maybe he was one of the people from north woods. Maybe he just took somebody suit, and we just pretending to, you know, house ability because nothing else really made sense. But yeah, his character threw me off. And I was the one thing about the movie that I did not like because I felt like. That didn't make sense everybody else was like immediately..

"Hello. Once again to be empty bowl, a breakfast, wastes a island of calm in a sea of milk. My name is Justin McElroy, and I enjoy cereal very much. My name is Dan Gilbert, and I just finished a bowl of berry kicks about five minutes ago. Now is berry kicks the one that has like regular kicks, but like the berry shaped. Ephemera in. But right now it's incarnation is plainly spheres kind of going with the the uniform approach. But I don't know. People have complained that it's it's not the same as it once was and a lot of serials feel that way. So we try to. We try to hold onto the experience behind it more than anything. You know, I threw it a couple of my own dried cranberries to it. So there is no Syria might have been a little less fruity, but I really made the most of it and I'm really happy with what happened. We should do an episode sometime about mix ends because I have a lot of strong feelings about serial mixon's. Yes, to very hot topic in like I moved into a new apartment recently and you know, he don't always talk. You're the best at those times and I had to make the most of what I had. So I mixed in have was hunting Cheerios. There's some criminal zucchini bread in there all things, and you never know whether this can come from Dan as you know, this is supposed to be a soothing podcast, and that was one of the most challenging ideas I've ever heard. So when needed I just a little bit, it did take me to digest as well. This is a show that requires nothing of you other than to sit back, relax and think about serial. That's it. It's to be a combing place. We're going to have some relaxing music. Some nice ocean sounds, and this is a place where you can come chill out and just think about serial and just leave it to Dan. And I, we're going to wrap you up in a nice crunchy blanket which still actually sound that saving now that I say it out loud..
