"Is that if you to morning pages and you're miniaturising your critic remember What happens is that you're learning to do what i call dropping down the well into your creative flow into contact with your greater self and when you do this what happens is that you are able to do your other work. Much more freely. Because you've trained your critic to stand aside and to just sort of squeak to and if you do morning pages then when you try to turn to your quote real work later in the day you find that you're able to dive directly end if you telling people that the pages are preventing negatively you ignore the fact that you are in fact going to be getting some really good ideas and so what happens I think with morning writing is that you write for awhile and the writing would suggest a risk. And you think. I can't do that and then you'll write a little further and the writing would suggest the risk again and you think. I think it's too hard to do that. And you keep on writing and what happens when the writing. This suggests the risk again. You finally say all right. I'll try it and the attitude of all right. I'll try it leads you into risk Because you have the morning says sort of safety that you and the they are a companion to you as you take a risk. And that means that i tend to wake up once the sun is up and so i work in my living room. I have a window that looks out at the mountains and my morning pages. I'm in the living room. The bathroom is hazy today. The mountainous clear today so do a little bit of a flora and fauna report young. There's a bird. Oh goody. There's there's a flicker what a wonderful bird with checkered plumage. I hope it stays. What is an exercise a morning pages exercise of writing down things you love. This is something that i do usually at night. After my friends are all tucked in bed and too late to call anybody. I stood numbering and boosting things. That i love. I usually get up to about fifty. Wow.

"And he have really interesting thing. And this is something. I want to talk about with you around. Alex's visualization process. So i would love to know about if you use visualization at all and. He was talking about alex in in preparation for free soloing. He actually visualizes. He'll spend all day just sitting there thinking about through every possible climb but he thinks about falling and understanding if he messes up what her possible. Escape routes are which i thought was really interesting perspective so long way of asking. Do you use or have used visualization at all. Oh yes in fact we we. We actually started to study at a little bit. Because i was. I've always been fascinated with virtualization and even when we were in the teams. And actually when i was in the same job as a training officer we were putting together some some Some procedures and methods to help Guys perform better faster stronger and visualization. Became one of those things we really looked into when you look into the psychology of visualization the brain when you properly when you kind of actively visualize and when i say active vigilance you you close your eyes and you can. You can see yourself in a situation. You can feel like alex's case it can feel the rocks on his hands you know actively visualized that way Your brain begins to not be able to tell the difference between the reality and what you're visualizing in other words it's going to it's going to start making the same chemicals That it would if you're in that situation already so what does that. Tell us that tells us if you are able to actively visualize training something whether it be climbing skill. And i told by example of this with a with a field goal kicker one of the docs was working with said he had Had a a field goal. A football field goal kicker come in and this field locator was spending about eighty five ninety percent of the time on the field practicing kicking right and he said okay. We're gonna switch that. We're gonna we're gonna take your physical training down to about fifty percents. And we spend the rest of the fifty percent just visualizing yourself kicking the i.
