What does it mean to you to be the number two pick? It means a lot. It means I have a lot of work to do. It means I need to lock in and focus on my craft and get that rookie of the year. That's what I'm aiming for. Get that Rookie of the year. That's the goal. Yes, ma'am. And so when you're trying to achieve that goal, one of the things that may be prepared you a little bit more. "And watch our show tomorrow on ABC TV at 10 30. On TV half an hour show. We're here to educate you, but really, at the end of the day, I want you to think about this. What bothers you, Chris? You just said it again. You beat me to it. The key word. And hope you get something out of this today is what bothers you. Is it the taxes Because the tax cuts now they are going to help a lot of people. And by the way, if you haven't had a mock tax return now is the time to call us come in, and we'll do a mock tax return and see if you're going to get more income next year because of what the tax cuts have done. It's going to help a lot of people. Chris mentioned Social Security maximization. How many of you out there? It bothers you, And I mean it bothers you really bad that you don't know when the heck to take Social Security and what it's going to do when you take it is a taxable Is it not taxable and Chris? You talked about something else. We have federal employees that come in and regular people that come in from Publix from all over the place, And here's the question. Can I retire? Well, can I retire? Does that bother you? If you can't retire? Yeah, I'll see that. And the other thing is now let's figure out where Let's see what you have. Let's put a plan together. I will say this and Chris, you can. You can take it from there, but we have helped so many people retire. Using what they have and not really tapping into their retirement plan to make a living happily enjoy retirement. Let's just say this. You don't know what you don't know. And there's many people have come to us and They have worked for so many years. They focus on what they do each and every day they have these piles of money Retirement accounts. They just don't know how to maximize the income. Or have buckets to create future growth and income on a tax favorite basis. Well, that's what we can do. We can show you and you mentioned a great point. Because to client that came in last week, they said. Well, I don't know if I could retire. And we sat down and we talked to them. We looked at tax return. We looked at the income that they need. We asked them a ton of questions to make sure that we understood them. And then we told them at the end of the meeting. We said, Hey, you can retire and you can have more income coming in than actually working. They both sat back. And they said, Really I don't know that they don't know the numbers exactly. And when we showed them they were just It was like an aha moment And they said We didn't know this and go back a minute ago because we talked about the sequence of returns, and the gentleman that came in was a math major. And it's funny because the numbers didn't match up to him the way he thought, So, Look, when you do planning when you do tax planning and do income planning, the numbers have to be what you need. And the gap that you have created. We have to figure out how to open up that gap so that we can give you the income you want. Exactly. So at the end of the day you're listening today. What bothers you Pick up the phone scheduled time to meet with us. Let's sit down. Have a conversation. You know, come to our office and we have office on both sides of the day. Let's send a time, uh, to meet you to get to know you, you know, write down those questions. What's keeping you up at night? Write them down. Let's address those because many people have these questions. They don't know where to go. And you know if you're working with a broker, all they want to do is just put you in the market. You know, if you're working with an insurance sales, maybe they just want to put you in safe money. I don't know. What about a bank? They probably just want to put you in in C D s. But think about that. Are they really doing the best thing for you?.

Protests Erupt Over Paraguay’s Handling of COVID-19

"Clashes between police and protesters in the capital as soon theon on Friday. I wanna go well. President Mario Abdo is now our school ministers to stand down. He says he would appoint a new Cabinet to deal with the demands of protesters who are angry at the government's handling of the Corona virus pandemic. Fiona Aquino is a report of the ABC TV channel in Paraguay. She described the scene in the capital last night. We can't say yesterday was a total disaster here Innocence soon because everyone is fed up with the government's corruption. That's why 4000 people were out in the streets protesting everything WASP very peacefully at first. But then we have like some incidents. We even have hot, someone who died in the protests yesterday. Now the protesters are angry over the government's handling off the corona virus pandemic. What are they worried about? In particular, people are out protesting because we don't have medicines like attract audio and meanness alarm in the hospitals. And people have to spend like two million won years or four million war nears that are like $600 per day to be able to buy this medicines. We don't have diverse sins here in para white. We are like six million people, and we got 4000 for since last month. Right now, The hospitals are collapsing. We have like 1000 in 200 cases per day. And like 300, people are in the intensive care unit. We came get any more people sick because we can And give them that attention they need. Why hasn't Parag wide got enough vaccines, the government said. At first we got like an agreement with the callbacks facility. We were supposed to receive four million vaccines for two million people. Because the calf like two shots, we were waiting for those persons, but we never got them. We are still waiting for the Provokes facility to give us those vaccines. Then we are actually waiting for the Russians were scenes to the government did not made all the deals. To buy those vaccines for the Para William people. That's the main problem. I see that there are accusations that the government has been stealing millions of dollars that could have been used to deal with the Corona virus pandemic. Could you tell me more about that? We got $500 million for the health Ministry. We don't have the medicines when it in the hospitals, So we even know that some people from poor families had to buy. Medicines that were or generally from the health Ministry. But if you go to the drugstore you can buy that attack Korea or bad mean a solemn that wasps from the health Ministry. So that's why people are talking about corruption. We even talked to some families day show US photos off the medicines. And it has imprinted in them. This is from the Health Ministry, and you cannot sell this, but people were buying those medicines. The president says that he's going to appoint a new Cabinet to deal with the demands off the Protesters. Is that going to keep people off the streets? Do you think I don't think so. Actually, people are right now. Going to the downtown wasn't young once again because people are fed up. Everyone wants the president and the vice president to go and this is not going at all. To apply Kate these protests in any way. I was feeling Aquino a report over the ABC TV channel in Paraguay.

"You want to retire? If your teacher if you're a federal employees that worked at the in Tampa or in ST Pete, If you work for any government agency, we know your benefits. How many other advisors out there? Don't We could run an illustration for you based on your benefits, and we have the same software that OPM has. And the state has. So this is something that you have to take action because we're asking all of you every week to take action concerning issues that we're talking about here. So that's why we do this radio show to educate you So go back to the questions that we ask you a few minutes ago. Will we have higher taxes in the future? And if so, what are you doing about it? Are you prepared for that to hit? What if the taxes go up to 30 40%. I said this to a gentleman the other day. In fact, he was a doctor and I said, if you go back to the eighties and think about how hard the tax was work What if you're qualified account gets hit with a 50% tax. That means 50% of your money is gone. Think about that. Think about it. That's your future Income stream. You many people have former cage T s P s. The investment plan. "To tune in to our TV show Tomorrow, ABC TV A 10 30, the Magi tax and financial show educational show. And don't forget to visit our website Maggie tax dot com. There are a lot of information on there for you and videos that will help you because this is what people need education with the situation Now it's very hard to get out and meet with people and again. Don't forget one thing. If you're interested in meeting with us, we do zoom. I left when I say that because That is what's transpired. Now, Chris, the landscape of every industry has changed. So doing the zoom or calls we could do that for you. So if that's gonna help you get answers to your question. You will spend an hour of us and have a conversation and we're talking about. You know, why should we have a conversation? Because the purpose of these conversations that we have is not to tell you anything. It's designed to take you through a process of discovery about issues that must be considered, but in many cases have not been thought about. We mentioned them before. So the question we ask, you are to help you organize your thinking about all those issues and give you direction about your most important considerations again. I'll go back to Chris that says the Magi point You have tohave a path to run on. You have to know what exit to get on and off. And I think most people today don't organize their assets. They don't organize their thought process about We talked about it before. What if taxes? Go up? What's your plan? What if you get lower benefits? What's your plan, and Chris? Other advisors? Don't do that, because it's strictly talking about, you know, just wait and wait and wait. For what? Wait for one life so we're talking about is just managing money. But there's so much more to that. You know, we think about this. I mean, we've seen markets correct. We see markets go up market goes up and down. But at the end of the day, you know what if you're taking income while the market's correcting, you know you're losing income you're losing value. No. So what do people do? They ever cash in their product, their profits. Most people, don't They don't know. I had a cache in. They don't know how to take profits. What they're doing is just you're still in the waves. You know that are out there in the Ho shin. I mean, it goes up, it goes down. I mean, is that where you want to be with your retirement and we're in such a financial bubble right now. I mean, they're printing so much money. It's crazy. You know, the Fed is just printing and printing and printing. When will it ever stop? So do you ask these questions that you know it's about Thinking about what's gonna happen, and we're not doom and gloom here. We're about putting together strategies. Let's take advantage of these upswing when the mark goes up, But when the market corrects and you're in your distribution phase, what is your plan? You know things were going to happen. Trust me, you know? Ah, what's gonna happen? Maybe not now. But maybe in two years from now, maybe in five years now, maybe in a couple months from now, What is your plan? Because if you have just piles of money You doing what everyone else is doing, going to fall victim to what everyone else is going to be subject to, and that's not where our clients are. They have a plan. They have a path and you're talking about that, and that's what we do call the Magi will go back to what you just said a minute ago. For many of you out there. Think about it. 18, 6020 and Chris. We talked about it with a client the other day. This is the quickest recovery we ever had. No one expected this to happen. So here's the thing If you know something like that's gonna happen, are you prepared to do something about it? So it doesn't happen again, or at least protect part of your money? Because no one likes to be told what to do. So we can only help you to reason out what is appropriate for your situation and everyone listening to the Chris. This situation is different. You have to sit down and have a conversation. So by asking you questions that help you arrive at and discover your own solutions. This's about you. What do you want to see happen? One of the questions we ask everybody that comes in is What are you hoping we could do today? We don't see. What are we gonna tell you what to do? That would be silly, right? So most people say well, and then they pause and tell you what Gate opens because that's a question that I don't think other advisors are asking. What are you hoping we could when this is your money? You know, many people are afraid to meet with advisors because they have to have $250,000 to invest. I mean, it's not about that. This is your money is your hard earned money? If you have questions about the furs, FDR s with the federal employees or the furs fr us with the state employees with a pension plan of the drop plan or the investment plan. We can help. We can run illustrations for you. We can show you what your benefits are going to be, And that's what's so important. Take ownership..

"Of the Bay. And don't forget tomorrow, too, in on ABC TV at 10 30 for the Magi tax and financial show, and also let me remind everyone if you're just tuning in. If you want a copy of our two digital books, the new rules of retirement saving And no compromise retirement plan. We co authored a book with the actuary. How many of the advising out there even speak to one actually in this why Chris and I understand the tax codes, you know, because people out there don't one of the changes that are going to happen in the future if the Trump text expires in 2025, that's going to change. But what happens if it expires earlier? Then the tax brackets are going to change. And the thing is about uncertainty. You know, people loathe uncertainty. And did you know the studies revealed that human beings will do almost anything not to have uncertainty? So what we're asking you today is what are you doing about it? Are you taking action? We just sitting back and waiting for everything you know to get cleared up, and it's not gonna happen That way. I said it In the beginning of the show. You can't separate your retirement and you can't put a mask over it. So don't do that. That's why we're offering the free seminar. I'll send it to you. So you not to come out to a hotel or a restaurant or buy food. Just give me a call 833 Magi tax. I'll send you the seminar on taxes on Medicare and Social Security. It's 40 minutes. We have a seminar on empowering women another 40 minutes to it in the privacy of your own home. So how do you avoid uncertainty? And that's the question that we ask you when you come in. Call 833 Magi tax. Let's set a time. So that we can help so we can help eliminate uncertainty. 833 Magi, Tex, and that's just it. You know, many people need someone to talk to someone to find a plan to understand what options are available out there and Did you know that the American people are being called upon at this current moment in time to tolerate uncertainty at the highest level that we've ever seen in our country's history? It's amazing what's happening right now. But if we could reduce or eliminate that uncertainty So you can have more control being control rather than being controlled. Wouldn't you find the time now pick up the phone schedule times and me with us. You know, we could do a virtual appointment. You could meet with anyone of our In our locations across the town of Bay Area either way coming to meet with us, you know, we have the safety. We have the precautions in and said, So. When you coming with us, we'll take care of everything in the right way. Everything's clean. But also the more importantly, is that these questions that you have need to be answered. Uncertainty causes financial disasters. It also cause emotional, physical, intellectual, even spiritually disasters forever listening today, the time is now now is the time To do something. Here are some issues that many people are concerned with. And how many are concerning you. What about taxes? What about inflation? How that affect all of us? What about longevity? How will we live life before? We know that we might run out of money? How do we know that the money is going to be there? That's all security. Think about that. The more people worked, the more we pay into FICA. If more people do not work, that means what less money paid into social security, which means what it's going to be affected those your income sources. So what are you doing about it? What about your income? Do you have a plan that will guarantee lifetime income? If not, we have a plan that generates paychecks and also play Czechs. Are you concerned with interest rates? Yeah, they're low right now. But when you going to do how can you leverage your money? We can show you there are options. So pick up the phone. Schedule a time to meet with us 833 Magi tax. "Tomorrow on ABC TV at ten thirty tune in to our show the Maggie tax and financial show so let's just start by talking about that we're navigating something right now all of us and uncharted territory so in some ways this uncharted territory in others not so much so think about this in our lifetimes we've never experienced a public health threat like the one we are encountering now and we've never seen widespread closures of schools sporting events and other places where we commonly gather we have made it through other difficult times together many of which also drove market volatility in those times and now my advice is to stay calm and try to reduce your chances of making reactive and emotional decisions I know that finances are often an emotional topic and of course I know that this is easier said than done but because of that please feel free to reach out to me to my son Chris with questions or concerns about your situation and of course please take appropriate measures to keep yourself your family and your community healthy and Chris it's such a hard time right now for people you and I have talked about that you know our clients that have save money green money or not calling us and saying they lost money and yes there are some people that say they may have lost some money but not so much because the way we put it in different strategies so would you agree that the communication at this point right now for everyone listening to the show has to change it has to open and be open to new ideas that work because you can't keep taking this risk so talk about this welcome everyone and thank you for listening to our show and we thank you very much I'm Chris Nagy and as always glad to be here and as I did mention we are navigating through uncharted territory in less than thirty days the corona virus has changed the world as we know it forever important thing to remember is that this is not bad news nor it is good news it's only news and the main thing that we talk about is how we position ourselves and our clients that's what determines whether it's bad news or a spectacular opportunity that's right in front of us and you know the Merican to plan and prepare for occurrences like the corona virus not only view what's happening as an opportunity they're also actually positioned to take advantage of that opportunity and that's where our clients it and that's why when you listening to today show there's so many different advisors out there there's so many different ways to invest your money and many people you know just follow the crowd and that's all they do is just put money in investment A. and that's all they do and just because everyone's doing it well there are other options out there and alternatives you can position yourself in a better opportunity give vanish these opportunities that are there for you and that's why.

As Australians panic buy toilet paper, those closest to Coronavirus outbreaks panic the least

"A tale of two countries for the past two months. China correspondent Bill Birtles has been chasing the corona virus. After going to the epicenter Wuhan in January. He recently traveled today. Goo This south in the South Korean city which has the highest number of confirmed cases outside of China but after returning to Beijing. He's developed cabin. Fever forced to quarantine at home for fourteen days. His bill having covered the corona virus for more than two months. Now the thing that strikes me is that people at the center of the outbreaks seemed to panic the lease. That's what I found in Wuhan in January and it seemed again to be the case in the South Korean industrial city of two and a half million people is about the signed distances Sydney to Canberra the drive down the highway. Seoul was smooth and uneventful at the time. The number of new cases were rising my hundreds each day and as we need the city out phones kept buzzing with emergency alerts unlike China. The roads were blocked. There were no signs of any extra police. It all looked quite normal when we arrived in Taizhou we headed to one of the major hospitals treating Corona virus patients as my report that day for ABC TV showed there were temperature. Checking stations and Mike. Shift tenths everywhere. This is temporary screening station. Too tight temperature checks and if you look around virtually set up tents going back for quite a long way but there were no people. The tents were empty. No lines no panic from local residents racing to get tested and outside the hospital while everyone deed wear masks local business. People carried on as usual. It felt so strange to me. Having arrived from China where the government has whipped the nation into a national wall campaign against the virus South Koreans seemed worried but not too panicked hand. Sanitizer was available everywhere and despite rumors of a lockdown on the government decided. It wasn't worthwhile that night. Perhaps against judgment we finished now worth and headed for a light Korean Barbecue. Dinner at a restaurant next to the hotel. It was surprisingly busy customers eating drinking and chatting without masks. A reminder life goes on in these places even at the news makes it sound like local fruit tariff on it. The next day we headed to another hospital which was blocked off only Kovic patients could be brought in outside stopped walked back and forth in has suits while local shops nearby world shot. We wanted to interview locals but it was pouring rain so we retreated to a shopping mall with Wifi to file our stories heading back to Saul. I could tell things stepped up a bit. The hotel had set up temperature. Chicks and made phone calls to verify where we'd been. Schools had been suspended but life otherwise went on with the story largely in the bag. We made plans to head back to Beijing. One of the most annoying things about covering this virus is you have to travel for the story and that means quarantine upon returning given. How much of a quiet place? Beijing has been during the outbreak. I was just glad to get out for a few days to Korea but opponent returning I realized the city government had stepped up its measures. You have to register at your building compound. The rules keep changing but at the moment everyone from outside. Beijing must stay at home for fourteen days. I arrived time really late at night and the next morning policeman was at my door. It wasn't his first visit. He also came after my initial trip to Wuhan but it appears he doesn't have all the infighting he asked me where I'd been. I told him South Korea. He noted it all down and within minutes. The system swung into action. The residential compound rang me to ask. If I had a fever into. Tell me I had to stay home for fourteen days. This is on top of my office. Compound requiring all staff to report the health situation in recent travel and an e miles from the foreign ministry requiring all journalists to send their temperatures h died but soon manager for my building was at the door with some documents to sign acknowledging. I accept legal responsibility for obeying the quarantine. She also stuck a note to my door addressed to my neighbors. It told them I'd come back from Korea and I'm staying home to observe my health until March thirteenth. It thanked them for their understanding and support and included a name and a number of someone from the building committee for them to ring. Why would they ring? I'll leave that up to you to guess but it puts me on edge even just a sneak out to take the rubbish down the hole in fairness the building manager made it clear she thought the noticed was excessive and she said for any deliveries. I just ring her and she'll send a worker to bring them up and leave them at the door at the time when she kaime a just offered a home delivery flat white so I felt very sheepish ringing to ask someone to go and bring it to me but those are the rules and this is far more comfortable than what many others going through in the lock off who bay province. There are tens of millions of people who have been told to stay home for more than a month in some cities there. The local building committees organized buying food in the cities. There's no normal high delivery like in Beijing. An Australian. We interviewed this week in the city of Ginger described it as like living in. Gile some other reports talk of people in Hubei Province. Now running low on supplies as the number of new infections in Hawaii and China more. Broadly declines day-by-day thousand during the tightest quarantine measures are desperately hoping for some relief. It puts it all into perspective being far away from Hoover up here in the capital Beijing and it makes it all the more baffling for me to watch people all the way over in Australia. Panic and stock up on toilet paper. This is bill birtles in Beijing for Correspondence report but a perspective China correspondent. Bill birtles quarantined in his Beijing apartment.

"Watch a show tomorrow on ABC TV at ten thirty the Maggie tax and financial show I would be talking about a couple changes that we made and we're gonna be doing seminars every month so if you go to our website Maggie tax and just click on seminars you're going to see if someone was there for social security and Medicare and taxes are you gonna see one for empowering women and then you go to see a one for federal employees but click on that link all the dates of their it's going to be done on a Saturday because a lot of people working we understand that this is a very educational seminar it's up to you to start learning because when you listen to our show well you can hear so much but we want to teach you the right way and what to do in terms of social security and Medicare and now on the new thing that we're talking about here is the secure act we talked about it before because the stretch I array is going away now we talked about maybe some of the alternatives and Chris something that's really important that's come up is about annuities I'm in the secure act the annuities will soon be available in four oh one K.'s so think about that people have an opinion on a new eighties because they have heard you know they're not good but that's not true because we have a lot of people that we see we teach about the different types of annuity so think about why would they put in a nude in a four one K. that guarantees them income why would they give them that option well here's the thing you know many people out there financial planning is viewed in a different way you know you want to plan for your income for your investments for your state plan but the so much to it and many people run out of money in retirement because I don't have enough income sources so how do you create your own family pension think about it you know we're all used to maybe getting so security or with that we work for a company for ten fifteen twenty thirty years and then what happens you get a pension well that's guaranteed income but what if you can create your own family pension how to go about doing it to the secure act that was just passed one one two thousand twenty has a lot of different strategies now to take advantage to help people protect and secure their retirement so one of things that as we mentioned before is that the stretch IRA no longer exist which is to us gonna cause a lot of tax revenue in the future so what are you doing about expression of the ever and I array of for one K. four oh three V. you need to make sure that you protect your money and that's why we encourage everyone who has an IRA to pick up the phone schedule time to meet with us let's show you what this is going to impact your retirement and annuities informant Katie is you know now you have the opportunity creature own pension your lifetime income to supplement your current pension or you're you're you're so security or spousal security so now what are your options what do you do to plan for retirement and that's what we put together an income plan as well as an investment plan for your time and so come on in schedule time to meet with us is eight three three Maggie tax visit our website at Maggie tax dot com we have offices on both sides of the day to help you out education is so important and that's why I encourage you to set an appointment with us so we go over this with you and you have to understand there are many options and if your advisors not talking about it a Christian I've been doing this for years so we understand the tax codes we understand how you can reduce your taxes and do it right the other thing that changes the the new required minimum distribution age this is so important because a lot of people don't even don't even know they have to take the record and distribution but it was at seventy and a half now what is a change to Criswell judiciary one little bit if you have an IRA or tax deferred account such as a four three view of form Kane you retire at seventy to half you have to start taking money out of these accounts that are infected with taxes with the you want to or not as my dad mentioned before age seventy and a half was the time when you have to start pulling money out what what they did was they just pushed it back to age seventy two so what is this do for you well yeah it off to take it out over those couple years but what in retirement what about her time in the future when your account builds and there's more taxes what are you gonna do about it so what the strategies to defuse this big tax time bomb what do you do well one of the things you need to do is maybe take a look at your beneficiaries because since the stretch our rates have been eliminated I don't know how your arteries have been set up but this is a big thing Chris and I talk about beneficiaries learn how your heirs could see a tax increase a tax increase because of the secure act and again it goes back to what we talk about tax planning we had to advance tax planning strategies you need to understand what we want to do here we want to help you want to educate you tax season is here so pick up the phone and give us a call eight three three Maggie tax we started sixty nine dollars and stop paying hundreds of dollars for tax preparation that's not what you have to do because we take a look at your tax return we can see what we can save you want taxes how many of you would like that eight three three Maggie tax so learn how you know you could benefit by these tax strategies where your advisor right now is just trying to put you in the market and go up and down and I don't know what they're trying to do to be honest because it just trying to accumulate money Chris but with the market goes down and then it goes down twenty thirty percent then the accumulation part is is going to go down but the distribution part is also going to go down how important is that to people right now what's the investment side and absolutely is so important you know many people come in our office and we ask the question of safety important to you and most of time the answer is yes but what do you doing about it yeah this market has gone to skyrocket is done very well but we do want to protect your money thirty percent loss could wipe your accounts out you know pretty pretty big so what are you doing about it to protect yourself and that's why part of our investment division we can help you analyze what you currently have you know we manage money we have third party money managed actively manage the money any time you're in the market you need to have a specific purpose with your money so what are your accounts doing you know right now let's get a second opinion maybe it's a great time to take some profits especially if you have an IRA form K. because think about this your uncle Sam's gonna get paid first we talked about this from the tax side but what about your future income these accounts are put together to give you income to make sure it lasts you never.

"All right. Well, number two here on this on on spoke is just family, and you've got a wife and a dog. It sounds like but family and also just relationships that goes beyond just the immediate family. So what are the things that you're doing consistently for those key relationships in your life? I went through something very intense. Some recently. After after I was on ABC TV show and after the podcast took off and the book took off relationships. Once once you have a high profile can get weird, and I was probably a little too naive and was taken advantage of and burnt a few times by people who I thought were my friends who were just trying to, you know, make themselves look better, like get more influence, or whatever it was. And so so anyway, it bums me out and made me feel alone for a while. And for the first time in my life. I felt bad for Justin Bieber. But that's a funny statement. But at the same time, I've always been really close with my family, my mom and dad are still together and some of my best friends in the world. They're musicians as well. They live in Florida. They're involved in health versus port if Alison my wife is close to her enormous family as well. So that's just a built in kind of support system. And and we're for the most part with just a couple of options who mostly just don't talk to anybody. Everyone is cool each other and supportive of each other. And that's really important. And I try not to take that for granted. Because not everybody has that. Right. But so that's always been important. But but I missed all my best friends like after I graduated from college. One of my best friends went to Vancouver. I went to DC another friend went to Russia and another of my best friends went to China, and we're all just like oh. Bikes and bureaucrats: getting the shot in Beijing

"S we approach the fiftieth season. I thought we take a look back at some of the programs memorable stories this year and today, let's hit to China on ABC TV a few months ago, you might have seen foreign correspondents investigation into China's homegrown rubbish crisis and didn't happened with some startling images about China. Correspondent Bill Birtles just at side. Beijing walking between thousands of dumped bicycles will sometimes in China. It's the easiest shots that are the hardest to film and Bill Birtles found out the hard way. But never underestimate the sees Beijing bureau, I'll let Bill till the story in Beijing there up lace military armed police security guards. And even volunteer neighborhood, watch types everywhere, and they have one thing in common when they see a foreigner. And the camera first instinct is to shut us down recently. I tried to film a bike dumping ground. These are the places where local. Governments dumped tens of thousands of share bikes to clear them off city straights. They make for quite the visual shot, and it was a good example of Chinese overproduction and whites with heard of a massive dumping ground on the outer fringe of Beijing tens of thousands of bikes in yellow blue orange green all piled up as far as the I could see we drove up an adjacent road only to find to private security guards guarding the site. They said multiple gods. Took turns to guard the site, including at night worse yet the bike dumping ground is perfect for a drone shot. But when Steve Wang lighter tried to fire up his drone, it wouldn't fly. Beijing government enforces geo blocking on drones in the city. And it turns out this village was right on the periphery and still affected. So we left empty-handed. Having filed to film a single shot. It was not a good day. But a few weeks later we hatched a plan to go back. So it's about five in the morning here on the outskirts of Beijing, and we're on a bit of a covert mission of cameramen Brandt coming and the other Beijing KOMO Steve one with me. Brent how you feeling? Well, it's conditions could be better. But wait mart work in favor. And then it's it's quite early. And it's it's been whether it hasn't been great. So we're hoping the security is of this particular Artis leaving. This is going to make a quick escape a little bit harder for bogged down so to speak. We've got the getaway drive. A he hung Ming. His drive extraordinary. We've got the car. We're ready to go get mugged up here as we moved across the muddy field as quietly as we could power. Neue creek dean the move. The longer village down in that little gap on coming down this from towards the towards. The thing is we got up at three in the morning. It was a two hour drive to get here. We'd already come back empty-handed once before and we really wanted to get this story. I was not taking any chances to have it scuttled by a couple of bleary eyed security guards. As we need the bikes. We sheltered behind some hedges. It's one thing to get some quick shots. It's another to do a proper job of it, including a piece to camera and some aerials if as a Curie God us, so hurt us like county IVA getting the way and ruin everything as I went in -mongst the bikes with Steve one, I rehearsed pasty Hamra one of many dumping ground dotted around just hoped. My voice wouldn't be loud enough to alert the guards as we started punching out pieces to camera brand would to get the shots from the sky. If anyone can get around some technical problems withdrawn, he's the man and Stephen I got out shots the word of the drone taking to the sky. Above us made me realize we were half way towards getting the shots. We need at any point a God could come down and stop us. But it was becoming clear out gang. Able to come back so early in the day had paid off the guards were asleep. And after twenty minutes of uninterrupted filming we got out of there. So mission accomplished are on the way back. Fred you had a few struggles withdrawing, but you got it up there in the end. Yeah. Okay. We live and learn with these things. You know, we didn't go very high, and we didn't go very far. So hopefully, we won't attract any. Issues from doing that. And Steve Young men on the grounds shooting up close. How did that guy? Yeah. This is to be honest quite hard for us. And there is. Security guy, and we have to. Lead fun some pass, and and and get rid of them. So I think yeah, it's but it is perfect. Get everything. Yeah. But this is just a bunch of Boston Gul's in a field.
