"The Phillies with three consecutive hits with two outs here in the second have a two nothing lead. And then after a walk to Jake Cave by Cueto Kyle unloaded Schwarber on Johnny. Here's the 3 -2 payoff pitch and is that swung on and hit high and deep right center field forget about it. Number 42 it's into the Phillies bullpen it's five nothing Philadelphia. It was pummeled 425 feet into Philadelphia that Phillies bullpen. It would remain five nothing until we went to the fifth. With one out, Garrett Hampson came to the plate facing Yarinola. He's trying to get a little something going here. 1 -2 pitch is swung on and hit high and deep to left field. Cave is going back at the wall and she is gone. Garrett Hampson has two career hits against Yarinola. They're both homers. This one gets the Marlins on the board here with a fifth. It's a five to one game. And then after a double by Xavier Edwards, Jacob Stallings was looking to exchange places with them. Nothing in one to count to Stallings with Edwards at second base and the 0 -1 pitch is swung on and hit down the left field line. Fair ball for Stallings rolling into the corner. That'll play it another run. Jacob Stallings a one -out RBI double here in the fifth. Miami with two runs on the board now. It's five to two. Stallings at second. Luis Ariz then hit a line drive to left. That fell in front of Jake Cave. Stallings went to third. Ariz was at first. Stallings was at third. It was a five to two game at the top of the fifth inning and the batter was Josh Two and two now. Nola comes set again. He kicks and fires. Two -two pitch. Line drive. Center field. Marsh can't get it. It's gonna roll all the way to the warning track. Marsh slips. Ariz will be held at third. Stallings will score. It's an RBI double for Josh Bell. This is a five to three game and the Marlins have the tying man and it's second with one out here in the fifth inning. It was second at third with one out in the fifth inning. The batter was Jake Berger. He was facing Jeff Hoffman who replaced Aaron Nola. The 0 -2 pitch from Hoffman to Berger. Swing and a fly ball in the air. Left field. Cave drifting back. Hearing the warning track, he'll make the catch. Ariz will tag from third. He's gonna score. It's a sacrifice fly for Jake Berger. This is a five to four game now here in the fifth. And unfortunately that is as close as the Marlins would get tonight. Anamanuel DeJesus made his major league debut relieving Johnny Cueto with two outs in the fourth inning. He got Kyle Schwarber. And then in the fifth, DeJesus walked Trey Turner. Bryce Harper's single that after a strikeout of Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott was hit by a pitch. So after JTRO Muto popped up in foul territory to Louisa Ariz. The bases were loaded with two outs in the the bottom of fifth inning of the batter was Brandon Marsh. 1 -1 pitch to Marsh is swung on and hit on a line down the right field line might clear the bases. One run will score. Two runs are going to score. Here comes Stott. There won't be a throw plate. to the That's a bases clearing double for Brandon Marsh. It's 8 -4. Now credit and Manuel De Jesus who allowed the three runs on two hits there in the fifth inning. After that he would retire next the ten before walking Castellanos in the eighth. Then he got Christian Pache to line out to end the bottom of the eighth inning. And Manuel De Jesus making his major league debut tonight. Three runs, two hits, four and a third innings of work, two walks, and three strikeouts. For the Philadelphia Phillies following the fifth inning, Jeff Hoffman would work around a two -out single in the sixth. Gregory Soto worked the perfect seventh. Jose Alvarado worked around a one -out single in the eighth inning. And then Craig Kimbrel closed out the ninth. He lead off single from Garrett Hampson. So for the Marlins tonight, four runs, ten hits, two errors. Six men left on base. And for the Phillies, eight runs, hits, seven one error, and four men left on base. Hoffman, the winner, he's 4 -2. Cueto, the loser, he's 1 -4. Total time of game After a rain delay to start this thing, we got underway at 623. We finished it at 930. Total time of game, three hours and seven minutes in front of 40 ,899 here at Citizens Bank Park tonight. With a loss, the Marlins are now 73 -69. With the victory, the Phillies are 78 -63. For the Marlins tonight, 86 strikeouts. That means that $150 will be donated to the Drive Pink Initiative to fight against cancer. For every strikeout this season, $25 will be donated to the Drive Pink Initiative. Philadelphia wins 8 -4 here in Philly tonight. This series is now level at one a side. Sometimes it clicks and it doesn't necessarily mean that you get two hits and have a great night. I think sometimes it clicks and you have some bad luck in the pitcher makes like really good pitches and you go over four. Carrasco scattered 6 hits over 6 innings. "And we can talk a little bit more about rob here and maybe we'll get to that because I think it's an interesting trade for mat two, but rob is basically went from what? Like 70, I think $72 to a $180 in three days, three or four days. So he's definitely improved his prospects for the auction and next season, making these deals. And it certainly seems like based on what he said to you in the chat just now. That he's got more to sell, which he certainly does. Any thoughts or any sort of surprise on rob zen, like he is three big pitch or he has four big pictures that were on his roster like last season, he had Joe mosgrove, his Aaron nola, Luis Castillo, and he also had the least severino Nolan being the most expensive and I think most people would probably opt for the grand option ahead of even though Noel is probably safer in almost as almost as good or like the 50th percentile outcome is probably about the same. And then Castillo is like $21 and submarine is 18. Which of those guys would you have preferred to have paid for? Or would you just pay for musgrove? I think musgrove must prove. I think, you know, there's a lot of different ways to look at it. I'm not a de Grom guy at the moment. I mean, the math doesn't really work on my roster. I think somebody who and neither does for that matter. So. Most of them, just a bit of fan must grow for a while, a and like them, you know, he's never really showed his seasons has just gotten progressively better. There's obviously the risk with the Grom 34 years old. So if you're asking who I'd like the most might be a different question, who I think made the most sense on my roster probably would have been much more than Nolan or de Grom. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I guess the other two I would have been asking for would have been Luis Castillo or Louis severino. I wouldn't push this up. I mean, I remember when he got him, you know, for a buck or something super cheap and different story, but I just I'll let someone else I wouldn't have overpaid for him. I happily take him on my roster for 18 bucks. He's able to Luis Castillo. I think he had such an awful start last year. I wouldn't overpay for him either, but I love to have my roster for 21 bucks too. The musgraves, yeah, I'm a must grow fan. I think the price is right. I don't think it was an overpayment. I think, yeah, like you said, it was the market. Good trade for both sides. If you look at a together just because again, I assume that a coon you would have been tossed back, right? So really Matt paid 29 bucks for musgrove Corona worth and Hanukkah yeah, he basically had Andrew pay for the deal. Right. So here the hell that off season so far is basically what's it been three days? Three days into the off season. He's a tough mudder list. Yeah, I think. Yeah, not had a really good day in terms of acquiring and selling. I think the weird part for Matt is when you look at Matt's roster, he has so many good players that are super cheap. Like I can almost fill out this entire column. I might have to increase the size of this thing just because he has so many cheap players that he can keep and I think this deal makes it a little bit more challenging to keep everyone. So he's going to have to sell some pretty quality players in my opinion. I'm just filling this out right now, so we got Joe musgrove now. That's going to add another 14. He's got he's got Lance mccullers. He's got Justin Verlander. He's got Michael Harris. He's got missing a big one. I don't think he keeps walking around. I think Michael gets tossed back. I would not keep walker Bueller for whatever he's priced at. What's the status going into the season? Do you know? He's off for the entire year. Oh, that's right. Okay, I couldn't remember what I couldn't remember exactly what you drew. So never mind, you get started there. He's probably going to keep Romano for four bucks. He could keep Joe Ryan. He could keep. He could bring singer, like, and this is just one variation of this. You could put in like 5 other names, but he's God, yeah, 14 guys for 89 bucks on here. Yeah, better all super cheap. Everyone is like Joe musgrove is the most expensive player on Matt's team right now. It's a Scott Vanderbilt team. It very much is. So I'm guessing some of these guys get moved. And maybe he goes and adds, I don't know. You get out of a big time picture he could add a big time hitter, perhaps like cheaper. But you get so Perez. He can go get Sal Perez. But he's got adley rushman. So which was always my issue. So stop them before you go. And certainly didn't. But yeah, I mean, we can go on AD nauseum over the Salvador Perez terrain, but and like I said last year, I would gladly cut Saul Paz. But Matt forced my hand and I'm very happy to have a very cheap Dalton var show for $4. Cool. So I think we've went through each of the trades that have went down over the past couple of days. I did kind of want to touch on just real quick. Maybe some guys that we haven't talked about much like it's pretty much been the same, we've talked about will. We've talked a little about me. Obviously you've talked about Andrew and Johnny quite a bit. We've talked about rob, but like maybe someone like Tim, I've been discussing trades with people in terms of someone that I've spoken with, I think he was also someone that was trying to make a big time deal tonight and fell a little short, but he has kind of a sneaky like a sneaky good roster with Darvish mcclanahan, he has Christian homme. He picked up Bobby witt. He's got a cheap all hundred Kirk in the catcher spot. He's got an intriguing Aaron ashby. You know, there's a lot of options that he can go for. But I think he needs to, but this is the thing. I think he needs to still add another player to, but I don't know how he does that with where he's at money wise. He only has a $184. And this is kind of the problem with what you were talking about a little while ago with Gary Cole was. Like Gary Cole should have ended up in Tim's hands. He shouldn't have been to Johnny. It should have been ten. And Tim should have won it in the off season with $84 and paid a 104 coal, but he decided Tim decided that he could

The one year loan prime rate at 3.65%, the 5 year at 4.30%. We also had the bank of Japan holding his first unscheduled Bon buying since the fourth quarter plan was released, and the ten year yield did in above the 25 basis point ceiling again. We had yields of pushing a little bit higher this morning in Asia, the U.S. tenure yield, up another basis point to four 14 from the U.S. close to two year edging up a basis point as well to 4.57 percent. It's not been a good day for equities. We're seeing downward pressure there, the nikkei is down 1.2%. The ASX 200 down 1.1%, we have trading right now in Taiwan, it's about the lowest for the region with the tyres down one point 9%. And it was a down day on Wall Street as well with the S&P 500, chopped around a lot, but finished down two thirds of 1%. And Japan's finance minister says Japan absolutely can't condone excessive action in the currency market. It's not sure we've seen that excessive action yet. "But also, it would be nice if they could just pony up for another hitter every now and then. You know, just like, of course anything can happen and it's two games and this is almost unfair to look at this small sample and say, oh, the rays didn't hit in these two games. I mean, neither did the guardians, but with either of these teams because offense was not their strong suit and they had holes in the lineup, like it's just the foundation is so good. They've developed such great players. I mean, the rays with their ridiculous farm system in recent years and the guardians with just such a young team winning that division title and so many homegrown guys and guys they've gotten through trades and have done well there too. Like if they could just either of them supplement, you know, just like spend a little more of like they would go from being the winner of a weak division that is fun and exciting but still has some flaws or a wild card team that you know is kind of there every year, but generally not a powerhouse, not this year at least. If they just did everything else they did and also added to the payroll and were able to bring in some free agents here or there or make some big trade at the deadline like you never know that could make the difference in a series like this. So again, it's like you compliment how they put these teams together year after year. It's really pretty impressive, but also you kind of wish that they could combine that like maybe if they were more free spending like, I don't know, they just wouldn't be as cutting edge in the front office stuff and maybe they would get complacent and they wouldn't be able to beat other teams to talent and the other ways that they beat them. That's possible too. But if they could keep doing what they're doing and then also just like you know shore up a few holes over the winter at the deadline by taking on some money and some talent, then maybe they would be in a bitter spot come October. So it's hard to quibble with the track records because there have been teams that have spent a lot more that have not had the histories of success that certainly the rays and also the guardians have, but still it's hard to get there and get there every year and then feel like if we just had this or we just had that and it would be bats for both of these teams. Yeah, I mean, I feel nervous I feel nervous for them as they advance these guardians. I feel quite nervous. But I mean, what do you do? You got to go with the guys you get, you know, and hope that the boppers, the various boppers on the Yankees are not able to bop. Yeah, and plenty of them did not pop for long stretches this season. So I'd feel pretty nervous as a Yankees fed too, but we could get to that next time, I guess. All right, so those are the AL series. Then we had Philly's cardinals. The other sweep, three sweeps here, two game suite pickets, we specified at one point that when it's a two game sweep you have to specify that it's a two game sweep. I think, because you have to win two, Ben. Just want to emphasize that. So this, again, I know that there were controversial managerial moves and everything, but ultimately it kind of came down to what we were saying last time, which is that the cardinals did not have the top two starters that scared you so much and the Phillies did, like the Cardinals, maybe a better all around team, but in this format, in this series, when you can line up Zach Wheeler and Aaron nola, and then they can both pitch the way that they are expected to, which they did. Yeah. It's hard you're already finding yourself in a hole there. I mean, yeah, we could point to specific lined up decisions and bullpen decisions and such and maybe we can mention those. But when you come into a series and it is a best of three, as we have mentioned a few times and you're throwing two of the best starters in the national league at the other team, now yeah, like the middle of the cardinal's order, just kind of didn't show up specifically Paul Goldschmidt. Yeah. Looked a little lost. Yeah, he did. Again, it's two games and the guy had a great year. And I know he tailed off a little down the stretch. But either here or not, probably going to be the NLM BP this year. And you combined their lines for the series, and it's not pretty. It's because it's a two game series, and they were facing exactly where they are. So I don't want to make too much of it, but that's what happens when one team throws its aces and they pitch like aces and then the other team, whether because those aces were pitching like aces or just because those batters were a bit distant populated that day. They didn't perform and then you have a two game sweep. So it's kind of about to. We could go a little deeper in the analysis, I suppose, but that's the top level and probably the most important in my mind. It's funny because that first game, I love how you are underselling the madness of that first game. That's true. Overshadowed by the Mariners come back. It's like there is a great Phillies come back too. Yeah, like they, they wild it out first. We shouldn't forget that. But before the disaster inning that doomed the cardinals to lose game one, you could construct an alternate narrative where it's like, yeah, you know, you can't do anything against these great starters and your big bats that you've relied on the whole year kind of go cold. But then you have one, right? You have the hero to hit a two run shot and it's going to be great and you're going to ride off into the sunset and then you're going to actually forget how to play defense for parts of an inning that was weird. Yeah. And you're going to issue some walks and you're going to have your best reliever just have one of the worst days at work he's ever had and the Phillies are going to manage to capitalize on that in large part because in this particular instance fielding was not a thing that they had to do. And so you had this weird literal freaky Friday where the Cardinals were a team that was built around defense in particular their infield defense, right? Where those guys have just been nails, all season long, and not all of what happened in that inning was defensive failing, but some of it was. And that's the thing that we associate with the other team in red.

"He had Scherzer, which had Scherzer in one thing that we never talk about is the fact that he had great closers in Martin moland fantastic season. And that really, especially if Musk grove had two starts in a week, he could really kind of piggyback. Those and just stock up on padre pitching points, but yeah, anytime I assess rob's roster, I always just look at the pitching and I was like, this is not a team that wins a championship because of the pitching. So yeah, and I was part of the reason I wanted to face him as opposed to you or Kaiser in the first round. Yeah, I think he was really very susceptible in any given one week. You know, I would be really curious, I'm sure we'll chat in New Orleans, but he made the first big move to go get Aaron nola. And really set the market to some degree, which he always great, you know, use your sort of turbo boost early on, but there was a lot of great options out there. I was furious when you got Robbie ray, like literally screaming in my apartment, is so angry at BJ. I mean, you make a steep price. I don't know that I would have matched it, but just it seemed like it came out of nowhere. And you lose that opportunity to shape your team later on. I think if he would have maybe waited, he might have had an opportunity to shake his team in a more competitive way for the playoffs. And that was a strategic decision that I made too, is that I didn't feel like some of the pitching assets that were available at the trade deadline were all that great. And then I chose to flip more hitting because some of my players really, they had hot starts, but then they tapered off. So getting one scene Freeman were huge to riding me for August. Muncie was leading baseball and OPS there for a while. It was doing really great. So a lot of instruction that goes into it. And I don't even remember exactly I'd have to go and try to pull up our ads for the week, but it is tough sledding around there when there's it got a little bit better when it was just you and Kaiser making as it at the same time versus the rest of the league who are making ads. But it becomes hard to count on that. You brought it up a great point. It's an average of 6 points. And if you pick the wrong one, it could be really devastating. Yeah, I will definitely get into that. And also what you said about picking up at bats, heading into the playoffs. Because I've kind of pivot from that. But yeah, and kind of going back to the air and all of the air null actually has a 4.6 ERA right now. He's been doctor Jekyll mister Hyde player all year. Been a tremendous source of strikeouts, but hasn't been able to get quality starts, which is really important in our league. And I think the pushback that I had on that purchase was you're not going to keep paranoia in all likelihood. He's not good enough for the price that you're paying. And going back to the Robbie ray acquisition, that was fueled by my matchup with Johnny in which my, I woke up that day and I was like, I'm going to end this season. One way or the other. So yeah, that was July 4th because I ended up buying this night. And watching Arizona play San Francisco and that was my 4th of July I was watching dusk of pitch. Actually a gem. He really actually struggled kind of down the stretch, but he was very good for most of the season. I'll be curious to see if anyone tries to purchase him at a very reasonable $6 in the off season. It was really good. I had him at the first start and then I made you make one of those crucial decisions and week four to drop a guy to keep it moving. You don't know if he's going to hold on to his success and that sucks, but I was able to pick up Wainwright at some point in was killer the rest of the year just the Cardinals were like, yeah, go pitch 8 innings. We really don't care. Enjoy the enjoy and that old man could really throw it. So those are those are the key decisions that really influence your season. Yeah, he got the cardinals are just so hot right now. I just blown away how well and that also factored into our matchup because I definitely expected the brewers to be more competitive during that week. So what odds did you give yourself in terms of winning the whole thing going into the week into the playoffs? I would say I was pretty low. I was certainly obviously thrilled to beat rob, but even if I had beaten rob, I knew that it was going to be enough hill battle going in the following week. And so 15, 20%. It would have taken a lot to be rob. And then certain things didn't break that way. And you get a bad start out of you, Darvish, or something else, and all of a sudden you're really starts to crumble, and if how your Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday goes really dictates your other two in the ads, maybe that you have left. So I would say they were pretty low. I was certainly very happy to make the playoffs. Kind of manage my way to get there, but I was, I was not hopeful about the championship. And then, yeah, one of the things, so my matchup with Tom was in some ways I feel like similar to the matchup that you and I had in the finals where although it broke a little earlier, but like Tom and I were pretty close through most of the week and then one of the things that I wish I hadn't done was I picked up players for the weekend when it turned out I didn't need players because I was gonna I ended up just blowing Tom out more or less. I think that Friday. Yeah. And so like I had more I was I ran up the score and I didn't need to, I would have liked to have kept those ads and then picked up the player that you picked up Monday morning, which was, was it espino? Or spending? Yeah. It was one of the Washington pictures. And I thought, actually, to kind of transition into our matchup, that was probably the best streamer pickup of the week for the entire week, in my opinion. I woke up maybe 25 minutes after you picked them up and I was like, damn it. Which then kind of put me in a weird spot, I would say, I knew I was gonna have to pick up a hitter because of, I don't know if I had to drop someone or if it just made sense for me to have an extra player, but I had the dilemma of do I take the best player available get for the rest of the week, which in my opinion was it certainly wasn't who I picked up in Jean Segura. It was Brandon Belt, who is going to course, and I had actually streamed Brandon Belt in course earlier in the season against Jack. And I think I scored about 30 points in two days. Because when you and this is something

And it was very sad. Looks like you got plans tonight. Yeah, right. Welcome back into the program. 85561616 20 that is the accurate mortgage talk to text line. You can tweet into the program as well. At Matt Paulie on Air Network work continuing to preview the postseason, The Brewers are going to be a postseason club. They are. I think they're going to end up playing the winner of the N L E. I just I don't think there's a whole lot of drama left. I know there. It's not mathematically figured out, the Brewers could still possibly move into that overall number one spot, which is the way things have played out. It really feels like when the season over is over. The Brewers are going to have the second best record among divisional winners, and they're going to end up playing either the Atlanta Braves of the Philadelphia Phillies, probably the Atlanta Braves and got text message from Doug Say, Who would you rather play in the first playoff series? The Braves are the Phillies lineups are about the same, but the Braves have those two left hand starters. Or do you think it matters? I think Braves are a little more of a worry. I think the Phillies are a little more of a worry to be perfectly honest with you, Doug. The Braves left handed starter thing and we've talked about. They've been better here recently. By the way, the Brewers have faced some lefties and I've done an OK job with all Max Freed. Yes, that's he's He's legit. He's left handed. When Max freed starts if they play the Braves, which is the likely first round matchup. I will be concerned about how the Brewers perform in a game against Max free because he's left handed, But more importantly, he's really, really good, with all due respect to their other left hander Drew Smyly. Okay, Well, I'm not even I'm not even for sure that smiley would start like I get that he's a left hander. But I'm not. I'm not sure that he is one of their top three guys. He's nine and four or the 4.74 iara Ian Anderson, Charlie Morton. When Turkey to Santa's on he's better. The wild card and all that is Waske Noah, who was really good early in the season before he got injured. He got injured against the Brewers when he punched something in the dugout and he ended up coming out of that game. But I just I don't know if Drew Smyly starts a game, you know they got two left handers in their starting rotation. But It's Max Freed, and then it's everybody else. So I to me the Phillies. I don't I don't. I don't like that matchup against the Philly. I'm well aware I was there. I am well aware that the Brewers just took two out of three from Philadelphia. But you you got Bryce Harper in the middle of the line up, man. You got some really good pictures you got you got a guy like Zack Wheeler, who's already completely shut you down on a couple separate occasions. You look at what an Aaron Nola can do. I just that the Phillies scare me more. They just do. I think they've played a little bit better here recently as they've been trying to Fight their way back into things, and they have definitely put themselves in playoff contention both in terms of the division. They did take a hit. They took a hit when Zach Heflin is done for the season. Um, but, you know, Kyle Gibson did a really nice job. The fact that Gibson had that one. Yeah, it's struggled so much in the early going and then was able to lock in after that, and you look at his overall numbers this year. Um yeah, I just I think the starting pitching of, say Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola and a Kyle Gibson. That for me is more concerning than what the Braves will send to the starting rotation, especially when you consider the Phillies lineup and trying to Deal with Bryce Harper over and over and over. He just It's just so tough to get past them. So that would be my thought on that. 85561616 28 5561616 20 that is the accident. Anthony joins us now for his weekly hit. All right. Where is I'm not going to labor over last night. How did we get here? Like How did this happen? Yeah. Uh, just Just baseball. It sucks. It's uh You know, we It was like a month ago or last win, but it was no hitter there in L A and First game going out West. Get that win and just It is scared, and it seems like our offense is we're just not scoring more than 23 runs. Four runs, Um And then obviously game in and Milwaukee crushed us, But, um I mean, bitch. Just one of those neighbors just gotta desperately going to win somehow, some way going to be a weird win. But we just got to get one. Okay, so You were a little kid. In 1997. The Cubs started all in six. That's how they started the season and they lost the two really amazing teams. The Marlins who would win the World Series and the Braves, who had Maddux, Glavine, Smaltz and Avery, they come home. I take the keys to the then that the radio station had. I drive it up to Wrigley and I said, I'm going to do the radio show from here and I am going to sleep in the van till the Cubs win a game. They started on 14. I didn't know that. Yes, I I knew I was in trouble. First, I had Mark Grace dropping chicken off to eat. I had Doug Glanville knock on the van door and then the team got back really late at night. And I opened the van door and it's the manager. It's Jim Riggleman. And I'm like, Hey, Riggs. What are you doing it like whatever time it was in the middle of the night. He's like Dude, you're going to be here a while we suck, and it went to 14. And I finally got out of there Now, Glanville, text me I got these people are reaching out. They want me to live in a Tent. In the Wrigleyville area to you win again. Any thoughts on that. I can't believe we're here. I I Obviously, I I can't believe it either of Player. We expect to win every day when every day and every game, but If you if you do do the tangible hot so you're gonna have to bring make sure you just pack appropriately. Um, she stay hydrated, but I mean, it's just Losing is not fun and in this part of the season before the All Star break. Um It's just It's not fun, and we have to find a way to win a game and Obviously easier said than done, but Um I mean, we just have to win. That's it. So do you think I should do this? Because I said to Danny at the break, Okay. If I do something, whatever it is tent or some kind of Goofy thing to help. You know, the cause I want to. I raised a lot of money last time. I'd like to raise even more this time and have it go to your foundation. So do you think I should do this? You have any suggestions? Doesn't have to be in a tent. It could be something else. I mean, honestly, I just I think that It will be a waste of time because we're going to go out tonight and get a W So It's my optimism, but if you were to do something Then I mean Sure. I don't know. There's some nice Wrigleyville bars. I'm sure would host you there for a few days. Yeah, Leader Murphy's and Bernie support he reached out you can live in our place. Um But it's just I mean, and the called the House on the inside. We've been rallying and doing Things needed. Obviously, nothing is working to this point. But, um I mean, W is definitely on the horizon. Okay, so I had people texting or demon or tweet in questions. They got a lot of them. So what is it like in that room Because I likened it to. There's this guillotine hanging over the door where you walk into that beautiful clubhouse and You don't know who it's going to chop first because of being 8.5 back, and we're in the month of July. Is there this feeling in the room of impending doom? Like Anthony. They want to see you upstairs or Anthony Jed's on the phone or Javi or Chris or Craig or whoever it is or it's not even thought about. I mean, it's definitely were We're all humans. "To real muthu. Swung on and linux senators abrasive. Another bad pitch up over the plate and good hit like realmuto bang smack the senate for the hit cigar stores. It's an rbi for real. Muto and philadelphia has five nothing leah. They were up earlier on saturday. John sterling with the call. Of course seven nothing. The final scores the phillies take both saturday and sunday. From the yanks. Aaron nola was outstanding. It's been a bad stretch for the yankees. But aaron boone believes his team will be okay. Mic confidence in those guys is unwavering But but it definitely starts with me as far as making sure we're invest position to go out and play our best game and we haven't done that haven't and he was asked specifically if he thinks the team is getting used to losing he says. No why not i. I know them too well. And and i don't think there's any getting used to frigging lose. Hell no hell out of your tell it. I think ken davidov i think i'm not sure that was him because he was the one who asks the spider tech question. John let me hear it again. Well i gotta find you. The whole thing doesn't matter here was Boone on judge not playing with the back spasms. I don't think he's really availa was hit or to us today. So we'll see how he gets through tonight and and and obviously treatment and stuff in the off day and you were on tuesday not good. They'll be in terror although being buffalo to play toronto on tuesday flag day. Two thousand and twenty's flag day flag day. Yes june fourteenth twenty twenty one flag. We'll the yankees make the playoffs. I'm saying no no anybody say yes anybody but i do want to revisit this after the trade deadline. Okay you go all in. There's no way they're going to stand pat with this team like this would be sellers as opposed to buyers no eight and a half out. So they're eight and a half out you've got wildcards and play. I'm not worried about eight and a half out. I gotta worry about just finding their way back to playoff contention and they're not gonna sit around and watch the season just whittle away. There's no way three and fifteen in their last eighteen. That's a trend. They've been bad i. I'm aware they've been bad. I get it three and fifteen or they five and thirteen. I think it's five and thirteen. Because i have other. Damn sorry right right. They've lost eleven of fifteen for sure. Eleven fifteen and they are five and thirteen. They're now eighteen one game over five hundred thirty three and thirty two. And you've got the razor forty two and twenty four now as they swept baltimore over the weekend four out of the wild card so the the nets and the yankees are proving is not just about being money being never about money and the mets better be careful you know because you know they're going to have to spend some money here some people and you know you never know what happens when people get. You never know. that's exactly right. Padres beat them at seven three for an internet. Teach junior and manny machado. A back to back home runs in the seventh inning. Mets had a two one lead and that was basically was evaporated. Here was time cares. i saw me. Galaxies my certainly go castro children. I saw al's favor pitcher. "Get your name. Excuse me on the list for the show. Notes aren't so we go down the lines you're talking about. Some wind moves from this past week and the markets look like they've been pretty sharp on totals moves. We've seen a lot of totals moves upward down a full run and those seem to be cashing at a very high rate and the half run moves cashing in a pretty high rate as well so the markets the modeling crowd. The crowd the qualitative handicappers. Everybody seems to be pretty in tune with totals so far this season. So if you're seeing a totals move in particular one that's up or down a full run those seem to be cashing a very high rate here. So far this season we saw totals move on walker bueller. jt brubaker. Seven and a half up to eight and a half four that game for the dodgers in the pirates on monday that one fell in between it actually fell on eight but we also saw big move in the braves and phillies. Total with aaron. Nola andrew smiley that one went up and easily over the total there in that one sauce sunny gray and reds money on tuesday adrian. Hauser and the brewers the reds taking money at home. This is nothing new. We've talked about this a lot. It happens virtually every game that they play so a lot of reds money coming in in their home games also subsequently the reds fade in their road games. I don't think that that's stopping here anytime soon. Saw some marlins money. On tuesday heavily at that with pablo lopez up against colorado antonio sends a tele rockies did went on the road on wednesday there now five and twenty three in their road game so yet seeing a rockies fade on the road pretty regularly they'll lament and padres money came in on tuesday and zach davies and the cubs. Actually money on the padres. Both tuesday and wednesday against the cubs and the cubs went both of those games including area and darvish on wednesday. The padres not hitting right now. Offense has been a problem for them all year. long way. too much talent to be this bad But you know they're they are so we'll see if they can figure things out offensively as here. Heavy tigers money came in on tuesday. It was marco gonzales and matt boyd boyd. In the tigers a winner there in that one houston foot to a clear favourite. The modeling crowd loved fromberg valdez. Expect money to come in infirm. Rebel starts on the astros. So that'd be something you want to try to get out in front of out there in the marketplace when he is the scheduled starter other total. Move here george. Montgomery michael pineda in this yankees and twin series and a lot of runs so far. Both of these totals getting beat up on tuesday and wednesday and both of them going over the total. You angels took money on monday. Tuesday and wednesday all three games of that series against the royals and they want all three of them so the market correct on those not surprising. The fate of chris bobick in the middle game book. A guy who is in line forced negative progression to be sure. I thought that brad keller and the royals were a little bit. You know underpriced on wednesday and of course they lose six to one in that one. But the angels taking money in all three games of that series and lastly for tuesday. A lot of chris bassett's team for oakland against arizona. Wednesday zach f want money. They hit the board that wound up a winner as the phillies walked off. The braves. Much to my chagrin dodgers took money on wednesday. That was twenty gone. Selene and tyler anderson johnson off the i l. dodgers against the left. He's still got bet up. Only won the game two one but as i said. Keep an eye on tyler anderson there and those decreased spin rates red. Stick money again on wednesday. The tigers also took money again on wednesday a lot of fades in the mariners out there in the marketplace. We've talked about them a lot here recently on the show where they are an overachiever. Based on those alternate standings metrics of third order win percentage base runs thackery and win loss all of that not a surprise to see anti mariners money in the market against the tigers. And we're actually seeing it pretty much every day. Here as i mentioned the fate of randy dobnak and some money on your at cole and wednesday but the biggest thing for me was that totals move going up and the game easily going over the total little bit of a fan of taiwan walker and the mets on wednesday by the way the mets despite all these dudes on the i l. Their offense has been very very good here of late if beating up on some bad pitching but a lot of these journeymen guys in call ups and all that have been very effective for the mets. The over money was right in that walker and matt harvey game. But the fate of taiwan walker really hasn't worked he still has one of the biggest well differences on the negative regression side in baseball. But it just hasn't come to fruition yet and people are losing a lot of money fading taiwan walker right now raise the money that was mcclanahan and corbin raise law second nine to seven by the way patrick corbin only three swings and misses in that. Start for the nationals. He does not look good at all and i agree with fading him pretty much any time. He's on the mound. The cardinals took money with adam wainwright on the hill on wednesday. They hung a big number on the tribe and one that one against john carlos mia and the indians bullpen karnal. Saving money at home specifically in wainwright starts not a big surprise at all thursday. We're seeing some more dodgers money. That's julio uriel and mitch..

Selene tyler anderson john carlos mia Tuesday matt boyd boyd marco gonzales wednesday six julio uriel tuesday adam wainwright mitch thursday chris bassett pablo lopez patrick corbin tyler anderson johnson dobnak brad keller aaron

"Utah tonight, still out with that sprained ankle when they take out Memphis of Game one of their serious and chase Elliott wins the NASCAR race in Austin. Hey, it's crazy. The Brooklyn Nets take care of business in their first playoff game together, Do they clearly look like the team to beat for the NBA championship? We'll talk about that and more with me, Greenie starting 10 A.m., Eastern on ESPN Radio and ESPN plus Friday's the 20 Year anniversary means shattering my elbow in a softball game for the ESPN softball team. Man Sean feel was pitching that night. It's all his fault. I'm not sure he's even listening anymore, but yeah, I did a dumb thing on my arm is a beach somewhere chilling. He's not listening us. Come on. Why would he and you know here I am. I can only straighten my arm and 80 80 degrees. All right. Saturday, I should celebrate. We're not elbow macaroni and Friday night, dear. Right, Uh, Oh, okay in the park. I think it was the fourth of July. What do we have Massive Bumgarner's on ESPN. Plus at cores? No, no, no, no, You don't want to you, by the way, by the way, the medicine but gardening. In addition, of course, he's coming off the injury, So there's a little uncertainty as to whether he'll make the start. They think he will, and I don't know how far he goes. What's interesting about always no hitters is like Gary Cole Bieber to Graham. They're not throwing these no enters the Caracol faces. The White Sox too. Good offense, missing some parts, obviously, but And he's just like who was throwing these. It's not. It's not top 10 starting pitchers You never see Walker Bueller. Take a no hitter into the sixth inning. Right more. Aaron Nola. It just doesn't happen very often. If it all and then you got, you know Spencer Turnbull doing his Bud Smith. It's just It's interesting today. I don't know Smith. I like it. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like you can't predict this stuff like Robby Ray has no hit stuff is gonna walk after team, but he's got no hit stuff He's facing 10. And I think you have to use Robby Ray against Tampa, although they probably right. The only reason Robbie Ray, you wouldn't predict you know a top shelf. Performance of a no hitter is pictured pitch efficiency. It's the Blake Snell problem. He's going six innings. Brady singer gets Detroit. Yeah, I'll use them something that was starting, Are you Yeah, Not really. I mean, I'm with you on the matchup. Detroit isn't it means you have to use anybody against Detroit, Cleveland Seattle right now. So like whoever San Diego's with I'm sorry, now, you Pittsburgh, right? He's always used Pittsburgh writings as well. Yeah, OK. Sunday night Baseball, ESPN, Zach Davies of the Cubs. His pitch better of late. Against calling you on Kimmel. I thought I heard Wainwright might go in that game, but they have their activating Carlos Martinez for Friday. They're activating Miles Michaelis for Saturday. They're pushing Wainwright to Sunday and they're going six man. Most likely I've got shares a Wainwright a bunch of places and I'm still sticking with him because he to me is durable goes deep in the games helps him get wins and strikeouts. Yeah, He's kind of an all or nothing starts this year, but the Cubs offense is kind of all or nothing as well. So I like Wait right here. I have Wainwright and Davies on a couple teams together. The ESPN plus games. Andrew Heaney in Shaman A Ni. A couple like Underwhelming lefties. I expected more out of both of them. And where does not getting it? Yeah, he He had his moments earlier in the year. I still I just don't see it. I haven't been on board with him for 2 to 3 years. At this stage. I keep hovering having him hovering in the sixties and my starting pitcher rankings. Yeah, I could see that. Patrick Corman six. No Hitting is against Baltimore on Sunday. All right, let's see what you think It's happening. It might. It might. Well, Corbin against the feelings of his last night. He looked really good. I gotta tell you, you and I felt good about holding on to him and a bunch of leagues. You have to like what you have to anyway. We have to bring in now, Kyle. He's got trivia. And I don't have. There is tribute today. But if those hash browns for sure, Carl what we got We could make up some trivia as we go here. There's I'm looking at the top five in the hard hit percentage. You've got stand Judge and a kun. You are three of them. I want you to name the other two. Top five and hard hit percentage. Uh, five miles an hour off, the better harder Whose greatest percentage of time we'll get back there in a second? Yeah. What was that? I said Spencer turned over some Yankee. No hitter trip. Bobbitt on Ron. No aid that we Shaw's No, it's west in this week. Not even like they're not that rare. I mean to have seven of them is in seven weeks is, you know That sucks. I'm getting concerned about the my feelings on the Bumgarner. No hitter now that that's going to come back and burn us, and there's been more three more no hitters than 300 games. Yeah, sure. Wow. Money, right. I mean, All right. What's Ah, one of the hash browns today. Matt want to know what he's doing with question here, Uh and OBP Keeper league. We're on a keeper. You have to keep him. But you are you keeping your in a redraft format because man, he was terrible and you're sitting doubles in the minors, but he's not not going nuts. They're and vocal. Bach gets on base a little at first base from Milwaukee. So it's like that. Not in any hurry here. They're almost treat your like Joe Adele. Is what I'm what I'm feeling here. They're in. No hurry to bring up testing your again. Even though he was a monster last couple years, they're treating him the way they angels are Joe Adele, which is really weird. So in a redraft, I might just move on..

"Aaron Nola gets Waske. Are you Noah, each right hander coming in at three and one, you know, having not allowed an earned run in his last two starts. Let's bring in baseball tonight. Analyst host The baseball Tonight Podcast Buster Olney and Buster Aaron Nola gets the ball for the Phils tonight. Ah, sub three e. R. A S sub one Whip. I mentioned the record in search of his fourth win impressions of his early season showing It's difficult. Aaron Dola, You know the last 4.5 years. He's been one of the best pitchers in baseball. I think, because the Phillies haven't had a lot of success. He's been underrated. But he's one of the best guys once before. When I talked to Brian Baker, the manager of the Braves, I asked him Hey, who did his curveball remind you of because they're no has got arguably the best curveball in baseball. He said Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals without hesitation and yesterday, talking to Kelly Kassam, the pitching coach for the Phillies. He said that basically Erin know it can wake up in the middle of the night and he could throw his curveball for a strike. We can manipulate it. Add subtract You could do a ton with it. He's gonna be a challenge for the Braves tonight. Yeah, The Phillies endured some tough luck last Sunday against the New York Mets, but her five and one since what does that say about this team? I told you already about that yesterday with her after that horrific loss they had last Sunday if the team took anything away from it, and he Talked about how I really felt like the players understood. Look, we gotta clean this up because you remember in that game they made like 56 defensive mistake's all kinds of problems. And he's been encouraged by how they've been playing. Since now. They did have a tough loss last night, but generally speaking, performing a lot better. Yeah, they look to take two of three in the serious Buster. Only our major League baseball insider delivered by U. S. P s business is changing. USPS is changing with it. His team has banged up young star playing in an M V P level. While last year's M V P is not playing at his customary levels. The Braves still trying to figure it out, as the starters have been On even as has the lineup, the manager of the three time reigning NL East Chance Brian Snicker with our book shop be earlier today. Jim. Thanks very much. And here with the skipper of the Atlanta Braves, Bryant snicker. Well, let's rewind a second go back to last night. How wild was that game? That's a pretty memorable win for this team. I know it's early in the season, but to come back from those deficits the way you did. Pretty incredible. Amazing. Amazing. I tell you that, um I'm really thankful that we got the Sunday night game today, Uh, after going through all that, so, but it was good. I mean, it was good to see the guys charge back like they, You know, that's kind of been our Mantra for the last three or four years. That's how they come back in games and how they did last night was above and beyond. Probably anything I've ever seen. Tell me about what Scarry Noah. It's a big arm. I mean, the fastball gets up there, but he throws the slider a ton and with a lot of effectiveness. What was your expectation for him coming into the season? He's been probably your best picture this year. No, I have my expectation was a young guy that took a lot of strides. Last year, he made some like opener type starts. You know, we didn't know. Going into spring training. We stretched him out as a starter. We didn't know if you'd be like in two or three. Any guy coming out of the pen if we need it in to start, so it was good that we stretched him out. He's made a lot of progress. He's a young guy, that just, um Started just but the experience is getting better. Like you say he's got the knack of a breaking ball. I mean, we saw actually when he started when he has started, we've seen velocity that we didn't even see in spring training. But he's always had kind of the knack of Of the breaking ball and he can hit with it. It's a weapon flooring. He's a big, strong kid. That doesn't scare you. Just you know, he's continued to work in his craft, whether it's holding runners speeding up the delivery to the plate. Um all those things and You know, I I didn't expect the offense and, um, prowess that we got out of a meter. Or is it a couple of homers this year with the manager of the Braves, Bryant snicker. Couple more before we let you get out of here. Freddie Freeman and Ozzy all these. What do you seeing from those two guys? Freeman specifically in terms of I know. He homered last night, but sort of the stretch that he has been in and overall the start. Yeah. You know, it hasn't been. What he expected had been what I expected. It happens. You know, I mean, Freddie's of a new league player in our game and expects to do well and then he's that's been, uh Along with our team. It's been a rough first six weeks and then we went through have been through a lot of the club. A lot of individuals have been through things that being said We're just we're kind of hanging in there. So, um, you know, Freddy is going to get it going. He had a really good He had another ball really hard last night. Um, you know, it's just things that a lot of times in this you keep playing this game. You're probably going to experience some things that you haven't experienced before. And this is one of them for Freddy. He'll be fine. He'll get through it. You'll get right back to the player that he wa so there is Coup nya with that hand slash finger injury. Can you give us the latest? He has been spectacular. I mean, right now, I mean front runner for M V. P. All the accolades and an amazing talent. Is he gonna play? Well where he's at down hitting right now as we speak, so we're hopeful that he can. But until he really torqued the bat we're not gonna know And that was booed with Brian Snitker earlier. We bring back Buster on Lian Buster. We talked about Ronald. A coup nya hit by pitch last night. What is his playing status for tonight? And it's a moment that happened. There was concern in the Braves organization that he had suffered a broken pinkie. But this morning and talking with brave people, they said, You know this kid Is so talk to us such a high tolerance for pain and he had such a desire to play..

Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia Phillies Stay Hot With 3-0 Shutout Of Nationals

"At number, Twelve Philadelphia Phillies I have them there now seventeen and fifteen on the year. They are two games over five hundred for the first time in a long time. That's exactly true. But it sure feels like it as affiliates fan but they're starting rotation the last two nights going against the The Washington nationals facing Patrick Corbin and Max Scherzer will zack wheeler dealer Aaron Nola when sixteen scoreless innings or fifteen scoreless innings. I think it is. It is just a man. It is fun to watch those two guys at the top the bottom end of the rotation trying to figure things out that Geffen was good arrietta bad Spencer Howard starting to put it together but they made multiple editions in the bullpen. Their entire bullpen has overturned from the worst bullpen in. Baseball, they added four guys via the trade and then you get two guys won via call once coming back from the COVID nineteen list who hasn't played all year. So they're going to have six new guys available in that bullpen, and then a couple of holdovers from last year, and you're going to see upwards of eight guys who weren't getting the baseball for this team in the bullpen in the month of August who now will be in September and they could potentially make a run because if you get those top two again in that rotation, best five, you're getting three starts from wheeler and Nola Yeah I mean I'm I'm looking forward to that I certainly am

"Good baseball teams in if there's a way to improve alexandroupolis is going to do it but that today you know when you go through a season like this there there have to be these little magic moments and that one was that was as entertaining baseball game as you will ever see today there was some magic moments for the cardinals on sunday courtesy of jack flared he was fantastic and that's a another team who you know you never know how quickly young talent is going to evolve and you kinda look to that cardinals rotation going into the season guys late weaver and flaherty potentially having a lot of growth for them in a short time and maybe that rotation looks a lot different old flaherty was fantastic on sunday struck out thirteen phillies and route to a five one victory so people are gonna remember flare these performance richard but i think one thing we're really gonna remember from that game is jordan hicks cardinals reliever he hit a hundred and five miles an hour on the gun twice in that in that outing and relief of flared one third inning outing and this is a guy who's got a lot of attention this year for the pure velocity he's up there in the arolla beyond they were all the chapman realm he's averaging ninety nine mile an hour plus with his fastball at the average but what stands out to me richard he struck out nine guys in twenty two innings so it's not like he's just blowing his fastball by people you know he's getting some ground balls in that that seems to be predominant route by which he's getting his out so it's not the traditional one hundred five on our fireball if you will know and i think steph cass had his him today throwing the five fastest pitches of the season so obviously on a day when flared outpitched aaron nola he was geeked up and got the last four outs but he you know he throws a hundred and he's effectively while i think that's the term for it a walked to in there's a lot going on with the cardinals right now they lose their shortstop paul d young for for weeks and they're kind of might mathies trying to figure out you know the colt long back.
