"The chicago bears football right now and they were good back then so you know they they are. That's the ball rolling on itself after a while and i think it's clearly it was kind of happened in the last in the last few days so i'm sure you're with. Jj fees research either the most recent iteration or out the previous iterations about what a september hot streak means or doesn't mean for a playoff team success and that is based on a lot of playoff teams. And it's certainly possible that their individual playoff teams for whom it did. Pretend some success just because they happen to get healthy all at once or maybe they fell apart all at once and that actually would bode ill for your playoff fortune so if you were going to construct a case that the seventeen game winning streak is not just a fluke gra hot streak. That doesn't have a whole lot of meeting but it actually means that the cardinals are positioned to make some sort of run in october. What would that case be at. Did the cardinals get better in some way or have. They shown their true colors here. They were under performing up to that point. Or is this just one of those fun but fluky things. I think that they're obviously not seventeen. I is as ever existed in actual timberlake team. That's gonna rattle off eighteen in a row. I it's hard to think of any team. Obviously doing that but it. There is definitely a sense that they have. This is what they were trying to lock in the all year. This is what they were trying to get together. This and there's a lot of things they hope would be better than they are right now. All told you probably would theoretically universe. Not what john to be your second starter by that. That is not like the best possible cardinal cardinals team but the problems have plagued this team all year. They have in a very good job of jerry. Rigging some sort of a fix for them whether it's whether it's there's pitcher doing strikes whether it's the all year you've had Goldschmidt was actually hit. The ball really hard for the first half of the year but just wasn't really getting results. Now he's the second half is opiates over. One hundred thousand like he's he's been credible in september. He has really. He's been hot at the same time. That aaron nado has been hot at the same time. So neil has been. Everyone's kind of becoming like their best selves offensively. Which really was a lot of the lot of the issue. The starting rotation is not any. It's not about as unsturdy as has been all year. I mean they've actually gotten huge stars. From jake woodford who has come in at of nowhere and can provide a little bit stability the rotation. But even with the idea that you're bringing in leicester and half for innings. They're still throwing like five minutes a game but like alex rodriguez had been really good in the first half had fallen on after that he gave up that grand slam the vogel back and they changed his role and kind of started moving him around and using him as a win needed rather than as closer pushing shelled out of his natural comforts which is not. What would not that mike show. We were sold by the way but nevertheless he's he's now he's moving race around. He's kind of gotten raise. Settled down getting the the arms of t. mcfarland and we see has been really huge guys. Have you if you want. Devil magic guys. Those are the two. Like the fact that that mcfarland garcia have come really from garcia was the closer for for the yankees aaa team. I think the orioles had released mcfarland and they came in and they had one clear mandate and it was the result of watching the cardinals for the first four months of the year. Throw freaking strikes like throw strikes. Keep them on the park and throw strikes and that's what they both generally done. They both had huge success from it. Garcia looks great. By the way. I i there are many times you have to the yankees. Have to be wondering. I know this is fans are very frustrated..

"One overall pick this year. Benny montgomery as their second best prospect. So they've done well taking high school outfielders with huge upside. They also took lsu right hander. Jaden hill in the second round. Who could be steel in the draft if he stays healthy e thrace monteiro. Who was acquired in the nolan era. Nado blockbuster he sitting to sixty nine with ten doubles thirteen home runs a double a. So he could be called up here sooner than later. So starting with the sell off of nolan. Aaron nado the rockies are starting to replenish that minor league system just a little bit out there in colorado and number twenty three. I have the los angeles angels. They have a couple of tier one guys in the system. Outfielder brandon marsh. The twenty three year old and left handed pitcher re debt. Merce the twenty two year old so both of those guys at the top of the list. You also have sam bachman who was recently drafted this year now into their top. Five prospects shortstop kyran paris has just three professional games under his belt but the nineteen year old is himself a start here in twenty twenty one. So the list there in la starting to replenish again. But that's been the trouble for them as they haven't had the prospects to come up and help guys like shohei. Otani and mike trout get over the hump out there in la number twenty two. I have the saint louis cardinals. They have very high level talent but a relatively large drop off after that they have three tier one guys for the cardinals right now. Third baseman not gorman left-handed pitcher matthew liberty tour and third baseman jordan walker. So two guys at third base tier one guys now. Eventually one of them's gonna win that job and the rest of the guys there. Of course the other guy is going to be moved outside but joshua bias was also a salad pick for them this year. Michael mcgreevey college arm. Who is excellent to nine to alec. Berlin now a fulltime outfielder hitting three hundred with seventeen home runs and high a and aa so the cardinals they got again high level guys there but a bit of a drop off once you get past that first tier and number twenty one. You got the boston red sox. They have forward guys their top prospects right now is the guy. They just picked marcello meyer. The shortstop followed by first baseman tristen. Cassis the twenty one year. Old outfielder jaren duran twenty four years old and then shortstop second baseman jeeter downs are all listed as tier one. Guys potentially right so marcella. My or the five tool shortstop he goes to the top of the rankings judd. Fabian is also a first round talent if he could cut down and swings and misses. You have right hander. Brian bellows throwing the ball. Well to five five at a and aa so the red sox have some good thinks cooking down there on the farm. And i like what they're doing in boston. Higham bloom certainly has on the right page. And when meyer false you and the drafts. I mean you just scoop him up and take him. And you're feeling real good about yourselves and number twenty. I have the kansas city royals. They got themselves five to your one guys so now we're starting to get into a little bit better right. You notice how these tier ones are growing and growing but you got shortstop bobby witt junior left-handed pitcher ace seep left-handed pitcher daniel lynch right handed pitcher jackson co war and first baseman nick product all with top end talents right so they did reach this year for frank. Maza kado at number seven but they signed kansas. Prep right hander. Bencun drope above slot in the second round so they were able to save some money in round one. Spend a little bit more there in round two. It's taken nick pro. Sometimes to figure things out at the plate since he went fourteenth overall back in twenty seventeen. But he's reworked his swing a little bit. He looks better than twenty. Two year olds hitting to eighty eight. Thirteen doubles fifteen. Home runs in fifty six games at aa and the royals again. They're starting to build that depth down there at the minor league level. I number one thousand nine. I have the texas rangers. Jack lighter goes right to the top of the list for texas texas only has two tier one guys right in the royal have five but they got a lot more talent in that two tier level down there in texas jack lighter like i mentioned the tier one guy josh john the other tier one individual but catcher sam. Huff righty co win. Right yeary rodriguez. A lotta guys are tier two there for the rangers and the depth. I like it right. Twenty eight first round. Pick co win is having a strong season. Twenty twenty the twenty one year old has a two four nine era at aa frisco so he started to figure things out so texas looking up there especially on the mound when it comes to the next next round of pitching. That'll be an arlington very soon and number eighteen. I got the detroit tigers. I love these guys at the top spencer torkelsson. I think he's going to be excellent matt. Manning the right handed pitcher right handed picture jackson job who they took it three overall this year riley green in the outfield. I think detroit is certainly trending the right way texas as time madden. I think he's fantastic. Ivan pacheco or isaac. but gieco. he's going to be excellent burto campos. they signed him after. He defected from cuba. But he's got one of the highly higher ceilings in the minor leagues for the tigers. So detroit so and some growth this year at the big league level and i like their minor league system as well and number seventeen. I have the chicago cups. The cubbies got a few tier one guys but a ton of tier two individuals outfielder. Brennan davis is their top prospect braille and marquee left handed. Pitcher is also very good. Ed howard the shortstop at tier one guy for them left handed pitcher jordan wicks was the most polished starter. They took in the twenty twenty. One class infielder reginal prosciutto hitting three ninety five at rookie ball. Outfielder owen cassivi sitting three thirty three rookie ball and both of these guys are guys that they got for you darvish so some of those traits for chicago. Restocking what they have going on. I like what they're doing. They're for the cubbies and the last ones here for segment. Two and number sixteen. The minnesota twins the twins. They got some nice tier. One talent. Shortstop royce lewis. Looks to be one of the best prospects in all of baseball and you follow him up with a couple right. Handed arms johan durant and jordan. Bliss cevik are going to be fantastic for them right. They rolled the dice this year. At twenty six with flame thrower chase petty. He's touch up to one zero two. You've got alex law and trevor lawrence. Cheb moved to the majors royce. Lewis is out for the year this year with an injury.

Benny montgomery Jaden hill thrace monteiro Nado blockbuster Aaron nado brandon marsh sam bachman kyran paris shohei mike trout saint louis cardinals matthew liberty jordan walker Michael mcgreevey marcello meyer baseman tristen jaren duran cardinals jeeter Brian bellows

"An opposite field home. Run as he continues to play great baseball show. He's the best catcher in all of baseball. And you had raise. Backstop mike zimmer nino hit a home run and it's not often you see catchers go deep and all star games let alone have two of them. Ultimately each go downtown. You also had jared wash. He made the game saving play in the eighth inning. He stole a hit from kris bryant and this was just even more outstanding because walsh is a first baseman by trade and he was playing left field. At the time with the bases loaded kris bryant. Hit a line drive out to left field and you could see wash again. not textbook. Not fundamentally sound kind of came in sliding grab fielded the ball off to his side ultimately making the catch but the reason it was a game saving catches because the way he went to feel that if it goes off his glove or if he misses it and it gets by him. That's going all the way to the wall and we were going to have a tie ball game at five five it would have been a three run double or maybe even a triple for kris bryant but ultimately it was the game saving catch for jared walsh the american league of course continued its all star dominance the american league they have won eight straight games and they have won nineteen out of the last twenty three all star games. So it's just man. The american league we always say hey. They've seemed to have more talent on paper. And honestly you saw it here once again. Multiple home runs win eight straight nineteen of twenty three said stuff to see the national league. Go into this particular type of funk and the american league now leads all all star games. They've won forty six lost forty three. And there's been tied twice ultimately so the. Al now holds the all time advantage over the national league. When it comes to all star games you also had some guys make fashion statements. We'll get into the jerseys here in just a moment. But vlad guerrero junior had a fantastic glove right. There was an iconic photo back in the day of vlad senior with flat junior. They're in their time of the expos and he basically made this print into a glove so there's pictures online if you haven't seen them It's just pretty awesome to see the glove and what's going on there but no-one aaron nado he had himself a nice day obviously back in colorado where he called home for an extended period of time and the fans. They're made him feel very welcomed right shoutout to the rockies fans who were very positive and bringing aeronautical giving him multiple standing ovations nice to see one of the best players in organizational history. Get get reminded of that and have a positive experience you also had liam hendriks. So liam hendriks and pitching ninja on twitter had themselves agreements where hendrix threw a knuckleball. They do a donation to charity right. I forget what it was. It was for pets like an animal shelter type pet charity and liam hendriks. Being a man of his word. He threw himself a knuckleball on television. Right eighty four miles an hour. Rpm's like four hundred and forty which obviously is extremely low. But because he did this a lot of individuals on twitter are donating twenty dollars fifty dollars one hundred dollars to this pet charity and again what is a tremendous 'cause and just a an outstanding collaboration between pitching ninja. Liam hendriks to get money donated for fantastic costs so shout liam hendriks in the guys for coming through on a promise they had made. Shout out for you guys out there if you happen to have been one of the individuals that donated shoutout to you. That's just absolutely fantastic. But now we gotta talk about these jerseys. These all star game jerseys. I mean goodness gracious swing and a miss when it comes to major league baseball these jerseys were just absolutely gross right. They look like these guys were wearing pyjamas out there on the on the field. I mean you had your individual logos vertically on the left side of your chest with the abbreviation of the city right so san diego. Sdp milwaukee m. i. l. philadelphia. Pa gye and then you had the team's logo kind of scattered right in the middle of it and it was just it didn't fit right it didn't jive and you're kinda trying to figure out who these guys were. I'm a fan of leading the guys. Where their team uniforms. Whether it's home or away you know if it's all the white jerseys but but let the yankees where the pinstripes like. Let the padres. If they're on the road. Where the the brown jerseys or the blue jerseys. Or whatever they wanna do if you wanna go throwback right if you're a phillies guy on the road and you want to wear the powder blue or the. Maroons like let these guys wear their team. Jerseys because these oh my god these were just bat right so they're not going to sell any of these and if they did man. I've god bless you for buying one of those. Because these were just absolutely grotesque jerseys and the players were not happy with them as well. I mean tim anderson. The white sox shortstop said we can do better. We need the players input next time. brewers pitcher brett anderson. Mlb let the players where their own uniforms instead of these slow pitch softball ones so man. It just wasn't a fan right. Liam hendriks the white sox closer. Said i'm a big fan of each team wearing their own. Don't get me wrong. I love you formity. But i don't mind little stars on the back but for me this year especially it would have been nice. I don't like blue pants so again. A lot of the players are on the same page. I am with just these. Slow pitch softball. Pajama style pants. That were just absolutely gross to watch here. But the american league of course they won by score five to two like i mentioned flag guerrero junior the mvp but looking at some other individual performances. The national league had two runs on eight. Hits tat junior brandon crawford and trai turner role held hitless. Mac muncie. oh for to justin. Turner went one for two. Aaron nado over to manny machado one for one escobar. One for one. Freddie freeman won for two cronin worth over one castellano so for two and down the list you go. Jt real mutual one for two omar navarre's one for two frazier one for two albee's one for two on the pitching side of things for the national league. Corbin burns ultimately took the loss going to innings allowing four hits. Two earned runs. Everybody else kept them. Scoreless except for tajon walker when one inning gave up a hit a home run now. Rogers rogers out of miami did allow two unearned runs on the night ultimately to get to the five spot but sure burns marquee rogers walker peralta. Milan-san rao's kimbrell and then wheeler ultimately going for the national league on the american league side of things. Of course you had vlad junior one for three to rb is zander. Bogart's to for three denver's won for two wendo one for one simeon one for two zunino and hernandez one-for-two and then garcia going one for two and on the mound otani one scoreless lynn. One scoreless gibson scoreless inning. Yuval d a scoreless inning. Soto gave up a home run. Jt real mutoko bassett gave up an unearned run for the two for the national league. One scoreless barnes one scoreless and then hendrix scoreless inning ultimately for the five two victory so overall certainly a success for major league baseball..

Liam hendriks kris bryant american league american league of course baseball mike zimmer national league jared wash jared walsh vlad guerrero aaron nado Pa gye walsh expos twitter rockies hendrix

"Alright giants with the all time Coors Field experience last night 12 runs in the opener. Having lots of laughs and then the shocking turn of events and the bag really here to talk about that, and a lot of big picture giant's stuff here as they get ready for a little 12 10 today, Polly 12 10. John Gray for the Rockies. Logan Web for the Giants, Andy Good morning and your bag with the athletic on the Yuma guest. Lynne, How are you? Thanks. Good morning. How are you? We're good. I have thanks to the great John Platz, the Stanford broadcaster. I have the walk off homers for the Giants at Coors Field when they've been on the wrong end. And I'm gonna see what was your first year on the beat Andy 2004, But wait, what the Giants always be on the wrong end of it. Yes, that is correct, Of course, by definition, but September 98 Navy, Perez got robbed Nin in the game that forced the Giants Cubs one game playoff it Wrigley. June of a one Larry Walker got Chad Zerby and then in your era, August Oh, nine. Spill boards off Merkin! Val Dez in the 14th. By the way, kids ask yourself what 1/14 inning is, they don't happen anymore. Right? June 2017 Nolan Aaron Nado completes the cycle off of my Lanson. And then last night, all fond memories, right, Andy? What? Why are you putting people through this? Exactly? What? I'm not sure. Just decide to be a status today. There. You know what Don't therapy Don't Don't forget about the Rockies introduced themselves the year that the Giants want to learn to games and didn't win the division three and go to the plastic. There was no wild card. Guess what the Iraqis did against the Braves. That year, They went like, Oh, and 15 again, so rocks kind of announced themselves to the baseball world by saying Giants. We will never do you any favors whatsoever. I mean, seriously, I actually had it. I mentioned that they got course you know last night to go forward lead into the into the final inning. I can't see ninth inning. It's the seventh inning and lost and I got a couple salty. Rocky stands in my mentions. They were like, Oh, every time its course field, the Giants blame course build more than any other team. Like you should know. You watch staff your games there. I mean, the Giants is a tough place to hang onto a lead. That's that's not. That's not the Giants experience. That's everybody's experience. And obviously, you know, a tough way to end. What otherwise could have been. I mean, did you have a more positive day than giant Sweep? A doubleheader Dodgers get swept in a doubleheader, but you just had to settle for three of the four. I guess you pick up a game on him either way, or at that point, so good by the way, far away, Texans says. Don't forget Last year you could walk off and in a way park Padres did in San Francisco. Off of Sam Kun. Rod. That's right. Mr Grisham got turned the trick. My friend in Philadelphia is texting me. He's pitching Well, he had a five out safe for the Phillies. He goes. Thanks for Coon Rod. I was like, Wow. I didn't see that coming. I read something where he was. He was. He's playing catch with Kinsler or one of the other relievers there and was really getting some good sort of council on on what he needed to do just to stay in the strike zone. And you know what if he's able to find it and turn it around and be able to harness his stuff? Good for him because he throws 101. So, um, but, you know, I think that was a deal where it was just it blew up so bad. That I think a change of scenery was probably in order for everybody. Well, it's a good place to start as any is. That's the bullpen because I imagine you beat guys We're gonna be following how Kapler uses the bullpen how Kapler closes games Now we had my cocoa on two hours ago, and he said, Listen, it's you know, it's the big leagues. Sometimes you take you take it on the chin. You still go with what you got? How you said, however, if you're looking into remote possibilities, you know, the minor leagues have started. You start looking at that. And if you really it really remote Johnny Cueto comes back and you move Logan Web to closer. I don't know. And I'm throwing them all out there. What do you think? Well, I don't know if they move him straight to closer, but I think that they definitely could have something with him as a short reliever, And if they have the pitching depth to be able to do that, That means everybody else is pitching well and healthy, so that if that's an option for them, but I think that that's going to be a pretty good sign that things are going well. But But you're right. You know, Jake McGee is going through a rough patch. I think you know yesterday, even though it was course field, throwing him out there with a four run lead was probably a good you know, then you to try to get him get him on the beam, and that didn't work out. Obviously. And the problem is that you know they didn't have the fallback option they used. You know Rogers already the use Whistler in Game one. They bring in communities of all, which is a tough, tough spot to bring in a kid. He's only got a handful of big league appearances, and obviously he gets a pop up from from CJ Crone. That's got unexpected batting average of 100, but because Stephen Douglas claimed his cleats on the warning track plan, no doubles, which you gotta do. Um, you know, then it falls in and that that's what I mean about getting course you know that that that that's it out nine times out of 10 and probably in 2029 ball parks that authority and then Charlie Black ones. They're really good hitter and activities supposed to do And in the end of the game, So it was e. Don't think Capital made any any mistakes in this bullpen management. I have observations. Criticisms. It was just really weird to have him start out his postgame by saying I thought to all did a great job for us, and I thought, I don't know if you could only say that when the guy gives up the game winning walk off Homer. But I understand why he said it. He's protecting a young player from getting his ego crushed. He's doing what he's supposed to do. He's backing up his players. But, you know, I think that the manager's got to say, Hey, look, it was my choice to put him out there. I thought it was interesting that he threw 12 sliders out of 14 pitches the guy that was 99, but whether he's being told not to throw his fastball, or he doesn't have confidence in it. And either way that that to me tells me he's not the right guy to have out there in that spot, but But that's what happened..

Larry Walker Jake McGee Stephen Douglas Johnny Cueto Chad Zerby Sam Kun San Francisco John Platz 14 pitches John Gray CJ Crone Lynne Grisham Perez Polly 12 sliders June 2017 Andy Last year Kinsler

"And busy day yesterday in the sports world. Denver broncos making changes in their front office. Finally the and so. I'm torn now. I'm torn now but finally jeff bridage. I hate cheering for due to lose his job. But when you perform as badly as jeff prior to chaz and a pair and he botches. This nolan an auto situation. That's what happens when batra job. You lose it and jeff brightest the general manager for the colorado rockies fired steps down yesterday good news so now the question remains does my boycott of going to a game remain or drag to go to game sow It's no code al presented by the j nine agencies. let's not waste any more time kris. Van rie director of reporting for nine news. Joining me up on highland chris. How are you my friend. I'm good i out of curiosity though i look this morning. 'cause it didn't i'm not paying that much attention to baseball for obvious reasons but i looked this morning in st louis cardinals. Are i believe eleven. Eleven and nolan. Aaron nado is hitting below two fifty right now that i don't take joy in either one. I just wanted point that you're you're such a liar if you if you don't take joy in that because it always helps when me see you dumped for somebody else and then they're like they're not there. They're not happy still. It's early in the season. We're only six and a half games out of first place. There's plenty of plenty of baseball. I like the like the optimistic. Approach there chris. Beta redirect reporting for nine news so chris You last time we talked. You were lying to get your second dose of the covid nineteen vaccine. How did that go. It was interesting. I i you know. Obviously i'm i'm an advocate for the vaccine and most an advocate for just being truthful. I had a rough day on wednesday. Nothing catastrophically bad but i definitely had a temperature Woke up with Hold on. I hold on sorry parked in the wrong spot. I woke up with a slight temperature And i woke up with lots of chills and didn't feel good for about a day and the next day totally find and That's that's my body doing what it's supposed to do. Yeah that's that's seems to be. The constant constant theme is that there's gonna be one day after that second does that really Really hits you hard. Chris what i appreciate about you from the beginning. Why i wanted to get you on for weekly on. This program is your Your transparency and truth telling among all of these things but also your ability to say. Here's the facts As as presented and then not push people in any way shape or form yes. You're an advocate for the vaccine But this this Rhetoric is starting to really ramp up talking about people who don't want the vaccine and and who will not be getting it your thoughts on how this is going to transpire. We talked a little bit about it last time. But your thoughts on how this is going to go down. i think it's gonna get a little ugly And and like. I said i don't believe in this idea nor do i believe that. A journalist job is to sort of advocate for sort of forcing people to get the vaccine. I'm in line of. Here's the facts. i believe. The facts are pretty clear. There's been a lot of testing vaccine. I believe they're safe. I would give it to my own child That's everything that lots and lots of doctors about the vaccine. Here's the problem is that we're now reaching sort of the the point in time where anybody who wanted to get a vaccine wants to get the vaccine. The availability is there in about a week or two You're going to really start to run out of people that are in that area. That really want to get the vaccine. So then you're going to start to rely on the people that are on the fence. There's gonna be fewer of those and then you're gonna have the holdouts. It's simply aren't going to get vaccinated under any circumstance. The question is how close did we get to seventy. We're not anywhere near right now in terms of full immunity and so the question is what happens if we don't get to seventy percent. I think that's going to be very realistic question. Not just for colorado but around the country. Because we're going to get close but potentially not close enough. And i think that means we're just gonna have these little waves that come up every few months whether they're seasonal or not and just they'll come up and they will be a problem not massive disruption problem. But think about it this way. What's the one group of people right now who cannot get vaccinated in large numbers. It's kids it's school age kids and this will be a problem in schools when you have these ways. It's going to be difficult for schools to sort of because it's going to be like a flu season year round where you're going to have these waves and the only way to get rid of these ways to bring a diet down to get to that seventy to eighty percent range and if we're not there yet i think we're going to have those ways particularly be a problem in school age kids well and that's an interesting. I mean it's interesting to look at the. What ifs of this in where it goes from here my question though You take a state like texas. Who was kind of leading the way in. Getting rid of the mask mandate and of opening things backup. We haven't seen the increase in texas that we thought meanwhile here in colorado were training backup. We talked to over six hundred hospitalizations for the first time in a couple of months yesterday how i mean what's the rhyme or reason for that. Chris i here's here's what i think and and and you know i ain't no scientists so take it for what it's worth but i've been looking into this for a long long time. I think that this over reliance on this idea that social distancing and masks or a cure all to sort of i always bring the virus activity down is overrated and saying. This is a mass. Don't work absolutely not but this idea that they're a panacea. The only reason why cases go up and down. I think it's too much. And you're seeing what people call seasonality in various places where sometimes the virus will take over in and actually gain a foothold in the community and keep going because of the sometimes of circumstances that are beyond human control. And i think that's what's taking place in texas. I think that's what type thing place in florida. You're seeing uptick in colorado. And i keep waiting. I mean eventually this is gonna go down but it hasn't happened yet. And i'd like to see it happen sooner rather than later but that to me suggests i mean look if there's no mask mandate in texas and there is still well a pseudo mask mandate here in colorado You have to start to wonder. Is it beyond a mask. Mandate and i think the answer is yes talking with kris van debris and director of reporting four nine news. You know we we heard Governor police come out about a month ago now and say that by by july when the the mlb all star games. Here we're not gonna have to worry about covid win. Does he get a little nervous about that. As.

"Then he's not going to happen. He's he's going out here so now you're at this point. Where and he may have wanted out of there anyway. Even with nolan auto. Who knows but this is where we are man. I'm not. I'm not defending dick mon- i never once have done that. Even at my deep thoughts from a wandering monica crap because people are like. You're just putting this positive spin on the nolan thing. You're trying to make nolan. The bad guy not making nolan. The bad guy he wanted out he wanted to get out and the rockies had no choice was that the best deal they could get was austin gohmert and other guys and then giving fifty million dollars. I don't know that my i want to believe that. That was the best they could get. That was literally the only way to offload nolan. Aaron nado in the pandemic because teams were hurting mark. Knutson told us you hear him on the newton corner throughout the day here on kfi. He told us there's no way team would take nolan's nola knows contract in this climate with what happened last year and all the money situation. Well there was a team that would take him but they require fifty million dollars. So i do think that that was the only way to do i really do. I mean i don't know that for sure but that seems to be like the only way nolan was pretty pretty focused on getting the hell out fourteen minutes after the hour. We're gonna talk football. Cody rourke pro. Football that work. We haven't had him on the show in a while. I know he's been busy. He's got a lot to talk. What's his board. look like. "Looking pretty doggone good right now lou. Yeah they're looking good right now and if it was a sixty game season i'd say that well on their way to a potential playoff spot boy at. There's a good. What hundred and fifty games to go. Let's see what happens in august. Say we were taking on the philadelphia. Phillies cardinals definitely the team to beat envy and al central gone off to a good start not great but a good start and definitely seeing very good returns on their acquisition of nolan. Aaron nado phillies expected to be a fourth place team in the nfl. East gone off to a nice start as well beaten on the braves. They played the mets tight and their line of appears to be healthy. One of the better ones in the national league right now starting pitching. It's been better than expected with wheeler and nola up top. I think the phillies issue last year as we all know was their bullpen ultimate demise. This season it's been much improved and because of that. I like the phillies this week. I think the cardinal starting pitching does not have much of a chance against a very good phillies lineup. I think the phillies badge not off. Yeah you're definitely a lot of questions regarding the cardinals. Rotation i mean obviously the pieces. They got air. Not everything's working out their offensive lee but they really don't have you know depth in towards the end of the back of the rotation or guys it you can't depend on Think gant right. Now is a guy martinez. You don't know what you're getting from him. I think cam could be one of the guys to really watch. Watch out for. Because if kim comes back and returns to this rotation and pitches like he did last year lu. I think he's going to inject some life almost like an adrenaline shot straight to the heart. I think that's what they need right now from the pitching because they're getting the hitting right now but yeah i think at this point i'm gonna take i to take the phillies also just because i like how those bats have been going and again. I think you're catching the cars right now. in they're not playing as well as they should but they've been they've been very inconsistent I think it was tuesday and wednesday perfect example tuesday. They put up. I think fourteen runs. Beat up stephen strasburg. And then the next day joe ross shut them out they in score single run and lost six or seven nothing so one night fourteen the next zero. I mean something's gotta give. You can't be that inconsistent. Yes exactly you know scoring three runs a game. They had a streak there. That's not going to help your pitcher. You're going to have to have a quality start from each and every pitcher every time out even stay in the game so yeah i agree with you know consistency so far from the cards. Yeah i mean. not known. Air nautilus excellent and goldsmith goldschmidt. But they need the rest of the lineup to really come together. And not be so inconsistent. This is sports overnight. America lew landers arrived. At least be back. Mlb.

"Michelle Small men from one of one ESPN and ST Louis is joining us to talk about on the Goodyear hotline. No. One air nado, who has joined now in a trade the ST Louis Cardinals, the Rockies are sending a Renato and $50 million, according reports to ST Louis for a host of players I haven't actually seen. The final report is to who Michelle. I assume I mean, there's probably they're very few places in America, where they care more about their local team than they do in ST Louis. So his ST Louis excited to get one of the top 5 to 10 talents in the league on the team next year. I think you nailed it when you said that. This is one of the rare places in the country where you can talk baseball 24 73, 65 and people care as much as they do, And I think a text I got this morning from a cardinal fan really describes the way people here are feeling somebody texted me this morning and said, I woke up. I went to ESPN dot com because I needed to make sure that I wasn't dreaming that this was actually real. And in fact, it is. But it was weird here in ST Louis. For a while. Fans were almost responded with the state of the team. They thought that the Cardinals were gonna remain inactive this entire off season. In the matter of 24 hours, the team goes out. They bring back Adam Wainwright. He was the best pitcher on the team last season. And is it obviously an icon and a legacy player here in San Luis, and they get the white whale. The player that favorite Cardinal fans have been lusting after for many years, and Nolan Aaron Auto, and as you mentioned, the Rockies are kicking in $50 million, and the Cardinals didn't have to give up any of their top five prospect. It's crazy. It's almost too good to be true. San Diego's on the rise. Atlanta's on the rise, The Mets are on the rise. The Dodgers of the defending champs. What is this move do for ST Louis? What in terms of the entail hierarchy where they had right now? That's a great question. And you're right as this offseason has continued on Cardinal fans were sitting by watching the Padres making love. Oh, they got you. Jarvis must be nice. All the mess. They're going to nab Francisco and door that must be nice. And even though the Cardinals had been inactive, they still had ah, pretty clear path to winning the NL Central. They run a post season last year. They were getting players back from injury, and it seemed like Could contend for the division. But you go ahead and you add someone like millenarian auto to this team. Ah, guy who clearly is going to help you defensively. He's an eight time Gold Glove winner. He's a five time all star. You know what he can do From the offense standpoint, that's your shares of your offense even more, and then we look at it. From an offensive standpoint, you're looking at potentially Dylan Carlson, who's their up and coming superstar hitting in the two hole, Paul Goldschmidt and then No. One Erin Otto. You're looking at a team that not only can clearly win the division, but definitely King content for a World Series. It seems that they're not a goddess, where she made it clear that he wanted out of Colorado. What is the divide in baseball right now between the teams that are looking to spend big and contend, and then everybody else it looks like they're willing to give up anybody and everybody. That's interesting because I think no one ever not a look at a situation where he signed that deal with Colorado, and it's clearly a place he wanted to stay. But then the team didn't build around him. And this is someone that once Too. When he's made that very clear. The situation almost has shades of the Shawn Watson in it, where he signs the deal, and then things kind of crumble around him. And there was a lot of tension between he and the Rockies front office there, general manager Just write it, but Hold out into the public, and he made it clear if I'm not going to win here. I want to win somewhere else, and ah lot of teams, especially coming off the pandemic season. Don't have the capital. You acquire a player and a contract like millionaire in auto, and that's something that the Cardinals have gone back and forth on for many years. They had wanted a Renato even before he signed that contract, But I think as the tension continue to go on the asking price evolved over time, and it seems like the cardinal to our mid market team and who are missing that gate revenue that they heavily rely on after a pandemic season. Real life the past year and that this is potentially a deal that could pull off and they went for it. So while there are teams who can't spend big, like the Met or the Dodgers, I think there are other teams like the Padres and the Cardinals that trust their core, and they see a specific opportunity and they're going to go forward as well. Obama Cardinals fan. I'm over the moon with this transaction, But I do have to ask. What's the concern level regarding the fact that Aaron Nado before time Silver slugger is entering his age 30 season and has had numbers propped up by playing it course field. He's not gonna have the luxury of 81 games at altitude anymore. I think if any other fan base were to have that question posed at them, they might be concerned. But the Cardinals have had experience with with this before Larry Walker came from Colorado seemingly did well in ST Louis, Saving with Matt Holliday. We were concerned about the numbers coming out, of course, field in the altitude even pretty well here in San Llosa's well became one of the major leaders of this team, a cornerstone of this team and won a World Series here. Wild Molinari. Natto might be a product in some ways, of course field..

"Sorry house. It's a shot at olive garden. I couldn't say the same thing about something in Egypt, you know. Talion jokes. You can make a talion Joe. Very interesting. Very interesting standard. Make fun things. You can't make fun of the Egyptian guys doing overheads very interesting. How that works? Yeah. We call that a double edged sword. What would you call? You're not speaking in the microphone. Where's the pen? What's your pen look like is a blue? Chewed up. Different. She's my pen, so are you up in arms about specifically against the US woman staff? Eleven thirteen like you've never scored a goal before kit kit. Don't like one narc the girls in college here, beat Thailand and soccer. Like what are you celebrating? Well, I mean they look like they couldn't play that under it was somewhat competitive for thirty one and a half minutes. You see that goalie? You see the goalie. Not a ton of intestinal fortitude for the intestinal. Fortitude, nancy. She couldn't play. Listen, they sent the team Karmiel can only play the team that they send that's it. Bush league man chilies got a good goalkeeper though. Oh, yeah. They might find time a little bit tougher against Chile. Don't we dominate doesn't like the women? Nobody can even pull the candle the Francis. Pretty good. Really? Yeah francis. Good. China's been good in the past Germany. Did mine shaft, usually the Germans play like machines. No motion whatsoever, just machines that the women have won. How many of these have they won? They won the ninety nine that's one. I remember the one, the one, the one, the last one women seem they're going for their fourth on. There you go. Four. Taylor. Twelve men is channeling his inner Karm. He said the same thing. Abby Wambach has issued this tweet for all those issue with many goals for some players. This is their first World Cup goal. They should be excited. Imagine it being you out there. This is your dream of playing and scoring in a World Cup celebrate. So it was as first game would you? Tell us men's team to not score. You celebrate. Did you tell Jordan to shrug when he can't stop him? Threes. That's a little different. Shrug was kind of a, hey, I don't know how to explain this. Of that wasn't a it was also still a game, and that was in agenda, first half that wasn't a gesture of he made six still maybe a five point gains. Really wasn't a gesture of disrespect Jordan looked over managing is like I don't know. I can't figure this one out, what's more. What would have been more disrespectful? But the question is repealed or however, the hell you has she ever scored a goal? I don't know. Yeah. She scored she's really good. Okay. So you could tell anyone back. So you're upset the backflips to what's going on. Flips at all Alexis. Apple. Playing in an inferior opponent business even being on the field with you, who I would fee for put them in realize the situation for a minute. Alexi lalas. It is not the US, W, N, T problem responsibility. I have no problem with celebrations. This is the World Cup. Captain. Thanks for giving us a here, captain jackass, while I'm not shocked Billie Jean King defending the women when I hear Alexi Lalas talk about soccer I just start laughing. Jack a loon anyway. Who cares? Use women's team won. They've got to play Sweden in two games the game against Sweden. We'll be there important game. The Rockies have put their lineup by the way, black men, leads off, the hopefully, didn't faze, Brad Brock against story doll. Aaron Nado, Desmond Reynolds, it first Rogers at second Walters catches and koneohe sends it will pitch against Cole hamels sent saving wind gusts. You're on the road ten straight road wins. I mean a home wins for the Rockies. How many straight with a dog today? How many straight road losses for the cubs? I don't know. You're at six I believe venomous thing. Yeah. Believe it is that six the Rockies straight at home. Ten. You said it. Last night was number eleven ten. Okay. And they're an underdog. Yeah, splaine that to me, I'll hamels is minus one thirty four because he's better than sends. It's our. The pitchers. So if you were betting the game has you bet it couple probably bet hamels, straight row, a ten straight home wins like you're probably due to lose a game. Right. Hamels has been good Hemos and give up a ton of home runs. Does he? He does not. That's always good and corers probably say hamels, but it's not a game I will be playing. He's like a dollar thirty favorite today. Yeah. Would you play well game. Would you play today? Baseball didn't really look too much. I don't know thinking about the hockey game tonight. But I've been wrong on which way you're gonna go. The only game. I picked. Right. So far was the first game? So maybe that's a good sign. Like I'll pick the first game in the last game correctly. The middle. I've been wrong our guy will win. I think the Bruins will win. Our guy Zo said that if you play the total tonight. He said, understand that if it's like three to one in third period team 'cause you're gonna pull the goalie really early right minutes left. He goes in, you're gonna get like the other night, it went over when it's one nothing to third thinking on the under in, I feel like the Bruins win. But I don't know man. Then there's that crazy stat about the blues. They haven't lost on the road in the playoffs when they've been down or Thai or Thai than game, not taking not counting the start of a series like that's a really strong roads in favor of the blues. I have no idea. But if you think maybe on rookie goalie and a game seven on the road has the butterflies a little bit more than two grasp does who's been there done that. So I think the Bruins but I don't feel too good about it. So I came. Warriors back up the, the raptors plus four two and a half now I'm probably just going to back them up on the money line since I already have them winning the series on the money line. I might as well who the raptors? So I might as well. The money line. So what are you gonna win the series? Plus thirty five. Oh, congratulations. And then tomorrow night, the plus one twenty five so might as well just just going to double it up. Just Pat him to win. Right. And hope that they actually pull it off. And if not, you got game seven in the Bank, hopefully at home and you win their how're the raptors dog's favorites. I mean they've dominated the first two games. They're golden stay at oracle reflects the wagering interest. That's right. It reflects how the public's going to bet. They might be afraid that established the rafters favourite. They just get a conta- money coming in public money coming in on the warriors. They, you know, hey, look at that. They're good at what they do. We always react like boy, how could that be the line? It's the like is is usually pretty good. They're usually. Right. I had another idea. John, give me your thoughts on this. Go ahead. They're trying to figure out how they can put their kickers in a pressure situation. They released Chris blue at this morning. So what about today at the end of practice you bring every single guy on the field? There's Khalil Mack. All these guys and say, hey guys, you want tomorrow off and you're off till training camp. These guys are going to kick twelve field goal six each. We make ten out of twelve no practice tomorrow. They miss were practising. What do you think of that? I think for this round of kickers that you got you better lower the bar to six you better make it like what you want to do. Give the guys a day off tomorrow. So if you if you want them to get the day off, you need to lower the six twelve. Yeah. And from what distance are you kick on it, and kicking twenty three yards forty then they've got a chance there all the way at forty two forty three yards of same thing, Cody parkey missed. I think it's a great idea. I need eight of twelve eight of twelve. Now you really far. Eight of twelve they might have a shot, maybe six hundred twelve twelve because you want to guarantee the fact that these guys are going to get the auditor, but there'd be Saigo with six to twelve so nobody's mad at kickers. If you made it six to twelve now only made five you'd have to chase, both of these kickers out of town. You're starting all over again. That's what she would have to do. Great idea, that's putting pressure on the kickers over point in trying to do. I'm not I'm not taking away from the I d I'm just telling you the quality Skinner's. If you're the player may give you nothing. What if you do if you're the player, we've got come to practice the kickers? Real low, that would be really, really interesting just in just as long as we can kick the ball, twelve times how 'bout that really lower the bar. Get the snap in the whole down in the kicker just kick. It just go from forty and tell him, you gotta make maybe to be just above fifty me. Gotta make seven out of twelve. How's that? Forty yards average from forty to forty five karnal. I'm guessing eighty some percent with gas. Yeah. Easily JD some percentage should be making nine. But like you said, you've got to lower the bar for six. I. Six hundred twelve is what I'm trying to tell you arm can't get greedy here. You cannot think yourself cannot believe how much kicker talk, we've done man, and they would badger, the kicker then they'd be on merciless kickers. You're not here to build kickers confidence. Either guy has already doesn't have it. The job of the Chicago Bears is not to build guys up. You know. So you could become a confident kicker, either you are confident kicker you are not find me, the guy that's confident they can come in here and the ball. That's said, if these guys ain't it get out of dodge. And let's move on some fresh body so much for blew it. He blew it Egon. I'm hoping some Australian started finding some kickers out in Australia. Yeah. Thump the ball, Australia kid and then everybody starts talking about being rugby. Find me rob about Nagin repeat, okay kick, she got a good leg. You want to celebrate a field goal then celebrate about Alex Morgan. She hot stick won't let you and real nice cap. Stick with what, you know, the great soccer player. She smokes. Kathy ireland. What, you know, the garguzzos no cheese, right? Alex. Knows women's soccer attempting a forty three fuel Kathy Ireland love it. Find somebody please over three Nagy sounded very upset. My only be concerned about is September fifth. Yeah. He was mad then on the text chain this morning. Again, the guys were talking about Ravi. Gold up Louis out. They're gonna go after Ravi. Inside inside sources tell my buddy, Tony Novak that the bears are gonna go after Ravi. You guys got.

"Every day because dodgers have like thirty seven different lines. They have the right is left vis vis net. And sometimes you saw him you know last last year, he played a lot of games but I think he started one hundred whatever it was thirty five but he wants play every night. He does play. He doesn't care lefty. Righty. And I love that about that was going into camp service, kind of, like, oh, okay. Really, well, guess what? I'm getting four hundred dollars the first six weeks of the season. But I love players that believe in themselves. You know. And the better question is rich. When you say you're talking about, you know, a boundary yelich you sit back and, you know, we're this conversation last week on pencil talk like worse Bryce Harper fit in those cata, you know, those, those right hawks. You know, you got you got my trial. You got Bellinger. You got Aaron Nado you got wrong Mukunu junior in Atlanta. You're the kids, Soto in, you know, twenty one but you start asking who would you start your team with, you know Bryce, you know, he's probably in the top ten maybe. But there's some players now then the Ellis's really kinda like they don't he's an MVP they think laughter. I'm like, he's not that good. I'm thinking this got eighteen home runs. He was the most valuable player last year you better start locking in on Christian yelich. This is a good ballplayer. This is a bait. It's amazing. So here's the pitch and Aaron Nado hits a high foul out of play into the upper deck first-base, I'd balls and one strike. They're going to charge par with an air allowing Hamson to go from second third. It's a double in an RBI. And it's own one to Aaron out of the pitch while its own too. "Baseball some movement perhaps on the notion of rules changes ESPN's Jeff passan reporting Tuesday night that MLB has a proposal on the table for the players union were baseball will set aside the notion of a pitch clock until at least twenty twenty two in exchange for a number of other considerations in discussions with the union also in that proposal a joint study of the strike zone and mount height and distance. But baseball needs a spot to try these things out, and they have found just add MLB is partnering with the. Independent Atlantic league to act as its testing ground for the experimental plane rules and equipment during the season. It's a three year agreement between the leagues that was announced Tuesday. The agreement allows for baseball to implement changes to the Atlantic league playing rules in order to observe the effects of future of potential future. Rule changes at the major levels. And yes, those changes could include moving the mount back and using a computerized system to call balls and strikes in the past baseball had used the fall league as the testing ground, but the Atlantic league Atlantic league offers players with more experienced about forty percent of the players in the Atlantic. Have major league service time and most have spent time in the minors Nolan will spend more time in Colorado. He has a new deal with the Rockies eight years. It'll be the highest paid player in baseball to the guy's a PTI Waban's 'aeronautics signing be a bigger deal than the eventual signing of Harper. Yeah. Aaron nado. I mean by most measures, and God knows all kinds of measures. These days is a better player better everyday player better defensively. I no one is in third baseman and outfielder, but but more important to his team defensively. More clutch got six straight goal. Yes. He's great. He knew what the acid rain doesn't affect the not catching adult. But offensively I it lightly. Does you wanna just sort of there? But Tony, this is an important signing. And maybe it's also Nado saying, you know, what these free agent bonanzas aren't quite what agents have been promising. No, no. But he didn't become a free agent. Not what I'm saying. No. He took thirty to the point. Was he stayed where he right, right? Right. Right. Wait for somebody to tell them if you wait for the Yankees and the cubs in the dodgers and the Mets four hundred bird in hand take the burden. His average is over the last four years to ninety seven batting average forty homers hundred twenty six. Yeah. That's in Colorado. But it's fantastic numbers games. Right today on my podcast. And I said, well, why hasn't Harper sign and he said Bryce Harper is so amazingly competitive that it is important to him to sign the greatest contract of all time. Well, I'm not sure that Boris and Harper S fingered on thirty two point five a year. That's that's the number one number right now. I don't know what this means for Bryce Harper could do shorter term. You don't think somebody was signed him right now for three years thirty four million dollars a year or four years maybe five, but again, we have now you're talking ten. That's the whole point. We have this discussion about Harper all the time as you wait for Harper for three years he could've stayed wash. He could've got numbers. And I don't know. I don't know when he looks at this. Does he go does? He just what's going on here. Darren donaldson. Somebody miscalculated on the Harper team might be. Eight years two hundred sixty million and ask for Harper. The discussion, of course, is about terms now as well as where he will go we heard over the weekend. The dodgers were back in the mix. But they're looking at a shorter term offer for our Mark to shero says come on now. These are conversations that should have been had in November. Okay. What do you want? What are the years? What are the a v? I know I signed my contract right before Christmas. I thought that was late. So I just don't understand, you know. What Bryce Harper thinks the market the market stocks gonna change that much from now until the season starts, and I I'm with the Phillies. Tell me if you're in or not if you wanna be here sign the three hundred plus million dollar contract that you have in front of you. If not we're going to move on is this a play. Do you think that Scott Boras in any agent is trying to get the most money for his guys out there of maybe using this as leverage to see if he can get a little bit more money out of the affiliates, or do you think possibly that? He doesn't wanna play in Philadelphia. I think it could be both Scott Boris is the best agent in baseball. Just put it out there. He gets the best contracts for his clients. And he is using other teams as leverage, but there has to be a part of Bryce Harper that really wants to stay on the west coast, and he saw last week three hundred million ten year deal that Manny Machado got with the Padres last Friday. Two thousand fifteen National League MVP six all star appearances and seven big league seasons with the Washington nationals to forty nine hitter. With thirty four homers hundred RBI last season. Straight ahead knows ion no win for Duke. That's straight ahead. Sportscenter allnight continues. It's ESPN radio. Eight. Sports..

"Do you fly Mark Walser and the manager Dave Roberts who's had a long day two biggest fern impromptu meeting, you know, with supposedly had off season to do this. What's making you make that push? You know? And so when that meeting hat, I started checking in with the guys I knew in Vegas, you know, Bryce and no Bryce family. I think that's a really great theory. And I hope that there's no, you know, that I hope it's not right. I hope we get you know, we got a healthy Kershaw and Bryce Harper. I really think that that is an interesting point. And that's something worse. You know, anybody that follows the dodgers. It's really worth examining. Clint last thing for me. There's another Syria out there that there were people in the dodgers for an office that really loved the idea of Nolan air Nado who would have been a free agent after this season with the Rockies, and you know, with Justin Turner getting up there in age you could assign ear not to be the anchor of your batting line-up into play third for the next eight to ten years. That's now off the table because he signed a big deal with the Rockies the theory. I read was because they they were in the back of their minds saving some money in the event that Aaron Nado was there. The fact that he's not there anymore. Frees up money for Harper. Do you buy that? I do by. Absolutely. You know, I mean, they timing is everything and it just kind of feels like over the last forty eight hours like perfect, Domino's are falling. You know? Now, you see that biggest automakers have suddenly made the dodgers the odds on favorite to sign. I, sir. I do think that the in that came out right around win the air and auto extension broke. So I think that you know, that that's a big piece. You know, I think the dodgers were very interested in auto when that went away. They're like, okay. This is our last big fish left in the tank, if we wanna bet, you know, over the next couple of seasons the salaries, you know, space, sell let's go get this guy. Let's see how he feels about. You know, maybe playing you know playing field. And you know, maybe that's what time meeting was about the other night specifics about when you become a dodger. That's that's a very good point though on there or not. All right. Hey, listen. Clint thank you very much for coming on Clint Evans from dodgers nation, which is an indispensable site. If you're a dodgers fan. Thanks, man. Thanks, man. Okay. Coming up next. We don't know if we're going to purgatory sin domino is in Florida. Trudell is rumored to be making an appearance, but we don't have here. Have we seen Trudeau? Here by three though. All right. So we we will carry us to be doing the show with Trudell or George you're doing the show together. Okay. So we're going to deal with Trudell because Saddam was on on remote. Okay. But we haven't seen him yet. Coming up next. Purgatory Mason, Ireland ESPN LA. Hey trudell. Oh god. I thought you got shorter. He was in a catcher stance. Fixing a bag. I'm like, oh, God what happened to shrinking Mitra? Dell is coming in here for purgatory. I understand. In florida. Yeah..

"Came here on the fan coming up next hour. We'll get little NBA talk. And it's been heavy on the baseball so far Howard Beck is down in Charlotte covering the NBA all star weekend for Bleacher report he'll op aboard with us next hour getting your calls here. Like one from Sulina. I'll bill. Hey, sal. Hey, jodie. How I. Listen talking about well, first of all the guy kind of pushed you I know it's called you come up with numbers. On the back end of his contract. But they're paying slightly more than for the first year in less than four for each of the other four years. So there's basically a four million dollars off after. Yes. So the metric close to twenty million. So it wasn't eventually found him. He was making it sound like the to get front. They're just take a loss on the back end. That's not the case it's fairly well spread. I love it. A life of what's left up? Can I was contract? I know if you if you know, you wouldn't have screwed it up so high. Listen, screw it up at all. I just didn't have it handy. I look at it. Exactly what it was. Yes. So you're right. I mean, you screwed it up. I'm just saying that, you know, exactly what it would have been no question anymore. You don't. Severino. We're talking yesterday and the more. I think about it this kid aside from the Yankees pitcher him not being confident in some people were talking about I don't buy all I think she can bet on himself this way. He's got the next three or four years. He doesn't have to think about should. I take a little off the ninety nine for the next year or two shade. Take a little off the eighty eight mile and Alice lied to try and save some bullets that I don't kill myself. He can go all out all out clear, conscience, give everything he's got every single game to the five years. And if he ends up long out in Elba like everybody, usually does he's got five years of protection the one year that he's gonna be out and most of the next year where he's not gonna be the same guy. And then he's still twenty nine. Clubbing and this kid if things go, right? There's nothing wrong with six years. One forty I call them and got on top of the five years and fifty two does this all with a clear mind, and I don't see this as as Nola or him saying from freight to bet on myself. Let me take awhile I can in any of that nonsense. I just think a smart move. Hey, and sometimes hedging is the way to go some guys go year to year. Aaron Nado is certainly played it that way and stole the chips. I think it was like five then he did a two year deal. So they bought two out of two years out arbitration, and he got almost twenty and this year twenty six flat out for one year. So he got upwards of sixty million for the four years. He was in the arbitration process. He went more basically year to year, and he can't stole the tips. Now, we gotta make sure it doesn't get hurt this year because he's going to get a mega pay day next year. This is the NBA. Everybody is facing the same risks with achilles. As and stuff. Like that in baseball. I think if you're a pitcher. You'd be smart if you're gonna hedge you'd be smart to hedge as a pitcher and Severino Lola's case if you're your position player. Like an hour an auto or Machado, or I don't think you need to hedge. I mean, obviously, anybody can get hurt. But you see guys like like Harvey, and and other guys that you know, that two hundred million dollars guaranteed is in the way. I mean, and that he got eleven million. This year is really I think overpay considering walking. I think the angels. Really, they probably could have got into six. Maybe they know something that we don't know. Because I didn't think our view it's getting double digits. Yeah. Absolutely. Not only that. But now, he's he's these positive you're to be available for opening day because he's already heynen the gluten so to speak, and he's he's ready. I you we. Pitchers hedging is an excellent one. If you're gonna do it. You're in that position. Do I take the guaranteed? Maybe I tell myself a little short, maybe I'd benefit permitted. Yes. Pitchers are more likely and more. Well advised to do. So because you just have more injuries with pitchers than you do everyday players, right? Jodi, s usual pleasure. Speaking to you. You have a great weekend. Get back to me brother, Kenneth why coughs up on the fan. Hi, jody. How are you doing buddy? Good couple of things. I college hoops. I'm looking forward to that Kentucky Tennessee game tonight. Did you catch the end of the Kentucky LSU game the other day? I did. Yes. And you know, I didn't realize until they got they went back into the studio Greenberg said that the offensive interference or vascular and not reviewable. They were just looking at the clock to see. But clearly that ball was on the rim. But I wouldn't say clearly. I would say yes, it was. And if you down to the slowest of frames bottom line is. Yes, I think it was interference. But it was damn close. I'm not overly critical of the referees. Wore that because the call they made I thought it was really really really close. I think it should have been. Offensive interference. But it was a hard call to make. Yeah. Let me come to Rutgers hill the CPI done a real good job record since getting here. A couple of wins on the road the place. Iraq is back in because I think it's a sell out tonight. Nice to see that program. And I go back to the days, we're still sellers when they were thirty one before they want vinyl floor, and it's been a long time since we got into the dance and speaking of the dance I mean every year, it's so tough. I think this year one of my sheets, I think I'm actually going to have three and a half year old grandson take teams out, and he'll probably do as good or better than half of the sheets that I submit that's the beauty of. That's why it's one of the major wagering items each and every single year because anybody can do it anybody can get lucky with speaking figured it out the fan duel down to Meadowlands has been really doing. Well, not just Super Bowl. I've been a number of times, but that's one of the horse races. That went down before the Breeders Cup. And you know, there's people. The lines. And I'm listening to some guy in college football, not hearing how much he's bet, but he's been Ohio State this. And then he says, well, let me take the citadel points lecture. How many people are out there? Betting the citadel and the Senate. Yeah. But they're doing well and speaking of horse racing. I think the state just approved a ten or twenty million dollars Jackson. Some of the persons because they really struggling with with mama's, and hopefully, it'll help it. But as you, and I have said there is nothing nothing like our toga. And you gotta make a date this year. I, you know, I always try Keti. Unfortunately, you have my work situation. I'm. A guy who's basically on call. I need to be available. So I cannot ban and how out it any one of the four or five outlets. I work in. So my schedule is not as fluid as it used to be. So I if I make it up to Saratoga it's just going to be the kind of luck of the draw year. Scott nights are five and nine in big ten play. You gotta have a five hundred record. Now, if you tell me that they want a couple of big games, and they got a shot. Okay. Fine. You gotta get to five hundred Dan, they're not eight eight and ten in the big ten is not going to get into the big dance. Minimum. You gotta be five hundred to be able to get in to the NCAA tournament Jesse from precipitous up on the fan HSA. Hey, jodie. How are you? Hey, I was wondering if you'd take a minute. Have you talked about kind the Murray on whether or not you thought it was a good idea for him to go to the NFL. Obviously did I haven't heard you talk about. I think it's his call. I've never seen Kylo Murray. Take one at bat in baseball. So I'm not going to sit here and go. Oh, he's such a good baseball player. Why would he do something like that? I don't know. I know he was taken in the top ten in the draft. So that sits alone as its own evaluation. Now, the as could have been right is wrong. But he was picked where he was back. But I'd never seen him play. So I'm not going to sit here in judgment and go. Oh my God. He's so great baseball play. Why would he go? He's not that good of baseball plays. A great great. He's a better football player. I don't know. All I know is he created a lot of buzz winning is men talking to people who evaluate players draft Nixon the likes scouts. He's certainly jumped up from where he was from the start of the year. That's why. Inside baseball contract because he didn't know it was going to have the kind of year. Did you had for Oklahoma? Yeah. I think that's why when I look at the Machado and the Harper, and even the stuff all the contracts and everything I think people really don't realize that the structure of payments baseball, the big. Contracts blind. Like, do you still want people say stupid idea for him to go play football? He's coming into guaranteed signing bonus money if he takes the risk on trying to get picked in the first round, I feel like on himself the same pitcher but bed he's doing it. Now, he's riding the wave of being Heisman Trophy winner. And I think it's a smart idea for him. Will. And we we will never know after the fact either we know this that if he gets drafted in the top half of the first round then financially he made the best decision. Make because he's no locked ever get two free agency. And baseball knows player. He's going to be a may or may not even make the big leagues for all. We know in his signing. Bonus might be the only big pay day. He ever gets in baseball. And you're right. If he's drafted in the first half of the first round his first contract, and the NFL's bargain is going to surpass anything. He got from just being drafted in baseball one less thing. Jodi, gotta say one shout out. I love you. Luke, Luke, Lou. I said when next you see him. Got time for that will hit the top of the hour here. Don't want to shortchange anybody. Bob, America, Arne from Brooklyn and Scott from James Berg, you'll start the one o'clock hour for me on the phones on the fan. Hockey fans. Wouldn't it be great to just put on a t-shirt.

"But yeah, it's it's a it's a it's a shark tank and for Jeff to put up a team like that in a shark tanks. Really impressive. But that's Blad was going to be divisive. There's going to be some leagues where he does go second round. He might even spike a first round somewhere. I do think that's probably going. You know, I it's try hard. But he'll have a mint cake in the top fifteen event. F B C at hand that league where he went fifty second. God, right. Fifty six or fifty six. Okay, six that's one. But let's move on. Let's go over to Anthony Ren down. And I mean, I love Anthony down. He just is steady production. He's feels to me little bit like a cheaper for a reason by the way because he doesn't put up quite the production. Once you hear the wants to hear the, but like a cheaper knowing Aaron Nado where he just does what he does every year lately. And you know, it's again, it's more twenty nine. Three three hundred twenty nine ninety. But it's it's there it's just every year. And I remember he started with the injury issues. We talked about this on the last point dating back to rice. And then that's why he went sixth overall in the first place. He probably could have been a one one. He has that kind of talent and the injuries plagued him through the minors in his first couple of seasons. He only played over one hundred games once in his first three years, it was ninety eight one fifty three eighty but now he's got three full seasons. The last three seasons. He didn't have a little bit of injury last year, but still popped five ninety seven on the plate appearances. So, you know, we're three shy of three straights. Six hundred plate appearance seasons for known the Anthony ran down. I love him. And I'm wondering, you know is something of a bargain here after back toback one forty plus WRC postseasons seasons. Like how how do you feel about Anthony and Donen where he goes here at pick forty six on average? Necessarily, call them a bargain. But I think he is a fair value. The fact that he stopped running is, you know, hurts his overall production because I mean, he was a guy who you you thought you were getting five category. Production from. He's no longer moving on the base paths very much. I mean, he dropped all the way down to two stolen bases on three attempts last year that may be a team kind of contract or or a choice on him. A he strikes me as one of those that could flip to and you don't. You know, you don't make choices based on on a maybe like that like, oh he could. But I do think Anthony ran don't. I I don't know that it's something that it's completely gone is on the right side of thirty and with full health. I do think he gets spike. Another eight to ten again when I was about to say, I think maybe with Bryce Harper gone. Maybe runs a little bit more. You know, maybe they didn't want to send him in front of rice when he was up to bat. So you know, he he's going to be in the three slot. This year behind eaten and Turner should get plenty of chances to drive guys in again, maybe it takes back up to the eight nine stolen bases. I think he's just one of those guys that is unsexy to people and therefore you get him at a really decent price..

"And then you were like, yes, you'll Puig back in the day. You you're winning. But. I don't think that baseball players are wired that like somehow he's acquainted being the highest paid player in the game where like eclipsing Giancarlo Stanton's contract as winning and I'm like, no, I wouldn't from Las Vegas. This is like basically signing with your home, and you would own Dodger Stadium, and it would be great for your brand. And it would be great for you're going to win here. Like, what are you? What are we missing here? I everybody be funny. She. I know I'm gonna miss him. You're playing those those live forever on this show. Okay. Good. Vince gully is still selling me farmer. John hajjaj. Do we can just play. We can do a whole segment of just drop. Hey, I see you soon baby. Great. I know he doesn't miss those people Robin his house for like what time. Yeah. He wasn't winning. Then that was for sure. Yeah. Yeah. It it'll be fascinating to see how it works out. Now passan told us before we move onto the brunt that he thinks the dodgers will hold out for Aaron Nado next year. And that's the guy they really will go after give the big crazy long contracts. Make sense. He's third base. You Reputation no. on his way out splits outside of Colorado. Not so good to sixty three hitter. He Long Beach collecting, I yeah. Yeah. And his slugging percentage goes down significantly like it's not it. I afraid of that stuff. That's just me. So how afraid are you of LeBron missing another three games? According to the Los Angeles Lakers. She's now missed eight he will miss eleven total. I'm actually glad. Yeah. I'm glad he's he's not rushing back. And I thought there was a real chance that he would rush back with that Friday time line because they have the Cavs coming up on Sunday that would have been nice game for him. Then you have a couple of plane. The bulls at home on Tuesday, that'd be like a nice comeback type of game. Either of those. I thought were the targets and especially when they went one five without him. They lost those three in a row. But then they just won the last two and they look at a little better. So we can sit out some more and really give that time to heal. Yeah. I look to be like you've talked about this earlier in the show. It's like, it's January, right? Like. This isn't even when LeBron really ministers to think about any of this stuff. So generally after the all star break, he tends to kind of hone in a little bit..
