"For when you first grab one as a pro bowl running back. Aaron jones I just look at see how many games are late in lambo. You think in cold weather is that what you're saying. Is that what you're thinking if we get the code. See if we're at lambeau. Early on in the season or later on in the season you know it's usually one or the other you get more of the home games at the beginning of the season or more at the end so just check him for that and I mean i kinda knew a new before. How how i guess how the seeding kinda worked A little bit so. I'm glad we get to place over the top teams you know. So what do you think of the fact that six of your first nine or on the road. And there's a lot of home games in lambo in december january. What do you think about that. Aaron jones play long. Get the suitcases. Ready to the first the first couple of weeks On of at the end and Welcome to the cold weather. You're welcome to what we like in limbo. Merry christmas to to the browns christmas day. But i just wanna make sure i'm being accurate No there's another game there's another game cultured cardinals you lead into that. One browns packers whole country settling and christmas day for you on it okay. It's coming up so you liked that idea fantastic Anything else at the schedule leap out at you. And then home for the steelers. You got that going on right there. What are your thoughts on the first four right good quality teams on both sides of the ball so Is you know best i best. "Over there. Which is like which games are we going to which teams are gonna put on the secondary which are gonna throw out there. I'll tell you man packers fans do at being the host of the The schedule release show for all this time. We want sent scott hanson into a green bay hotel to interview people as the phones. Remember that season he that he was doing his report from hoteling young bay because when the scheduled comes out by both of what france do. We'll know what they do is they. They cancel because beforehand about vance by up for rooms for every weekend hotel and then when they learned when the packers are on the road they call to cancel those weeks so they had they already have a reservation for the weeks of packers. I mean that's the way it works and as you know mooch told a story about note new guy who had our home right on the perimeter of lambofield and he would lease out the home to a bunch of college kids during the year and then would move into the home on the weekends of packers home games and turn the year tenants into the wait staff for his tailgate. Parties in this home mooch knew that. That's i mean that's how it works at lambofield and around lambofield greatest love it. Barbecue smell ever smelled in lambofield. I mean the food cook tailgating. It's insane in wisconsin. It is not a privilege. it's right. casey was good. Buffalo was good. And that's how lead into this conversation with one of our favorite green bay packers He was he was on this show and he was just a a rookie and now look at him. He's got a new contract and he's got that in his back pocket as he joins us here on the rich eisen. Show aaron jones of the green bay. Packers how are you. I'm doing good of you a better for talking to you. How has showtime underscore thirty three doing in the middle of may right now. Been doing all right. You know getting back to the ground back in the days and Try be successful. What was free agency like for you. I assume that was a first for you right. Obviously it definitely was a first for me. just kind of sock you know Never been in that position before not knowing where. I'm going to end up playing football. If i'm going to have to pick up and move across country or would it may be. But i'm glad i got to stay a packer Stay at it while. I mean the way it worked. It seemed like you know the team you and the team. We're going to move on right. And then if i'm not mistaken the timing of it did you sign after the new league year opened. I mean how. How did that work. There was like a twenty four hour period. Where i thought are you kidding me. They're not gonna keep him Or was just that the way that the news cycle went. Was there a moment where you thought that that was it was over in green bay for you I definitely i mean after the season. I definitely It was probably over up into I would say right by one toddler to saw you know My drew my agent had called me and he. He mentioned that the packers still still wanted me to come back and still interested in me. You know and i love the system. I feel like i fit in the system No the players they are on the. I have my home there and so just you know everything felt right and I'm i'm glad i was able to stay there and They wanted me back. Well i mean the part of the reason why. I'm kicking the tires. On this portion of our conversation. Aaron jones is because you know the the front office of the green bay packers and how they go about their business and do their business and roster building and winning now or winning for the future or playing for the future is definitely front and center. I'm sure you are very well aware Did you have any contact with aaron rodgers during your free agency period where he was checking in on you or anything like that. I don't know what the nature of your relationship is. I just figured i'd ask that question. He told me saying how how is doing and I text him letting them know that. I was coming back in and say and David say these they were all excited at the no before i get it broke. Um and all of our guys leaders excited for me and Congratulate and so What is your sense on. What is going on with roger 's and the packers right now I mean i'm just sitting back up steve. Everybody else sees. I mean i have heard from aaron or anybody. So i'm just i'm going away to get up to green bay and see for myself or hear hear from him myself you know is just I don't get caught up in the reading articles and things like that Just waiting to plays out in shorewood. I can control. So how much time did jordan love. Get on the practice field last year. Can you take me into that front row seat. Did he get much time at all in errands. Mvp season. I mean we. Do you play scout team and I'm he was working with me every saturday. I mean we doing over their shoulder. Ball drew different things like that so george did get a lot of words i mean and then they have. We have periods every day. where There we have individual periods. Where they're working with us working on our development every day. How is he handling all of this. Do you have any contact with him erin. I haven't. I haven't really talked to him. I mean we're we're communicate here there but it's just hey how you doing Just kind of checking up on each other and not so much about a. Did you see what was going on. Not not too much like that is just a checking up on a mouse out of football. So how many people are asking you the questions that i'm asking you in your life. I lot i imagine you know. And and i you know look. It's not like to break any news here but you know this is a very frayed time. Correct for for packers fans and people in your life wanting to know if the gang can be run back together or if whatever pieces have fallen apart can be put back together. What is what is your sense of things on that. Just you know knowing whatever you do know. And whatever feelings you may have on the subject matter Definitely i mean. You know everybody who's asks Who's curious you know We all want arab back in green bay. I think that's that's obvious He's a great leader a great player and a great person off the field. Somebody to learn from He he probably believes in you more than you believe in yourself when you first come in and He just help players develop. So i mean i. I love having him. I love having him around. What continues to be my quarterback. I i think you've you've mentioned this before but i'll ask it again here Certainly since you just mentioned that what do you mean by. He believes in. You may be more than you believe in yourself. What do you mean by that Just you know players coming in like rookies. You know you're is brian. This is new to you You mean everybody may not believe themselves but you have A future hall of famer guy who just won the mvp in your corner and he's telling you. Hey i'm your one of my I'm one of your biggest fans in his organization. And he tells you that he's he's obviously the fan because he's seen what you what you do and what you bring to the table and just gotta continue to work so I mean that's part of it right there and not just me. But i've seen him do it to solve the other other players Picked them up. Or as rookies. You know just bring them along and guide them along and then they ended up. Being great players is an easy. Do that for jordan. Love to aaron. Oh yes oh yes you see them. Working with jordan Every day all day trying to teach teach them as much as he can and So that's the cool part to see about a rod you know. Can you give me an example of that like you. See him off to the side. Giving jordan love tips and things like that..

What the Trent Brown trade tells us about Bill Belichick’s thinking

"Notable today trent brown. The you know pro bowl top you know. Left tackle offensive tackle in the entire. Nfl when the top guys on they traded him back to the patriots this interesting he was unhappy clearly The raiders were unhappy clearly because he's barely played so even while the raiders had like this dominant offense align at times. Trent brown was even playing for them. Sometimes you know last year. I feel like he barely played due to injuries and everything else. So the raiders weren't appreciate the effort. They felt like he could push through some of that probably. They felt like he was out of shape. You know Might may i came out and said that that when he's in shape and healthy is one of the best hackles ofo ball when he's not he's no good for you so My assumption is my guess of. I had to predict out. Trent brown will be entirely healthy next year. Because he's a patriot now and so he will not do injury concerns. He won't have all these issues because he's happy because he thinks he's on a winning team. No surprise surprise. Trent brown the patriots wearing good last year. The patriots. don't even have a quarterback sir. They don't if he can't come back. That's great but bro. You don't even know your protection. You don't even know how this even the plow because they didn't play out so hot last year now another get a lot of players back that You know took a year off because of covid. I fully assume. Bill belichick is anna. Start to repair this team. The best he can But you know the they're left guard go. I believe they decided to franchise tag him. That'll be interesting. But this always you know as a raiders fan. This kind of stuff always annoys me because players leave the traded with ever. They go to another team. Take the pay cut because he was getting paid. More with the raiders. That was annoys move. Obviously the raiders always play pay. You know a bonus they always have to pay up compared to other teams especially a successful team like the patriots so right so okay that comes with the territory. Donate to play the game. I respect that. And then you know. I hate when these guys on twitter and they started. Tweet tweeting my. They're so happy so excited. It gives me those antonio brown vibes when he left the raiders. So yeah that's it's frustrating but listen term row with some non baloch patriots at which But it's raiders all

"Rid of all uncertainty because even if the thing about drafting running back high the thing about drafting running back at all as people think they just drop off trees in their great. I mean the last time. The dolphins had an absolutely elite running back in his prime was ricky williams guest. Ronnie brown was good. He suffered So some bad buck in terms of injuries but but people like to get this idea in their head the running back. They're so easy to come across and he asked me for a couple games resolve savannah. Men have a couple of games at the end of the season. Myles gaskin looked awesome. That's for sure but it's also important to keep in mind. There's a big stretch. They were myles. Gaskin was doing the there was a four there there. There was no ceiling that that could really carry that team into the end zone. There was no stealing that could carry the offense deemed by game. So when i see someone like aaron jones what. The dolphins delvin lagged mets at playmaker. That is that touchdown ability than just hasn't been around. I don't think it's fair to sit here and say that running backs are a dime a dozen because that was the case the dolphins would have had a better running game or the last ten years. Lamar miller was alright. Addle in other guys struggled with injuries and he was at the lead shortly after his time in. Miami was up what's our. Why can't i think of his name. Two thousand sixteen carried the team pickle. J. j. j. j. guy he was he went to the eagles. Shortly after that year in miami he was never the same right so so. There's a tweet over the dolphins and are truly struggle. This yes myles. Gaskin is a great story for seventh round pick has been a legitimate steel however what aaron jones does in both the passing game and the running game to help young quarterback to kind of seems like an ideal situation for him to go to again. You can look at the leon bell deal and issue there but this is going to be money. That's gonna put them apart with joe mixing and derrick henry. Think the bangles or the titans are sitting here regretting those decisions especially the bangles. They were able to do that. Because you have a rookie quarterback not even a rookie sophomore quarterbacks of this point excuse me but but those rookie deals. That's you can kind of mix and match where. I don't think the the price tag of a twelve thirteen fourteen. Mill is is insane as some people are trying to make it out to love. How you bring up ricky williams because that really is you know the truly last elite running back dolphins hat and i think even in that article where i wrote it. I was like if they bring aaron jones in. Let's be honest. This is probably the best running back that this team has had since ricky williams and self but again it just it changes it changes every day and it does the same thing with the draft. I mean you're right. I don't know which you know. I'm sitting here. I'm saying i. I would not spend that money. But you're sitting here making a pretty damn good argument as to why they should so It's like with everything this off season. you know. There's different tiers to the level excitement that you'd have if if they signed player. Extra draft player experts in the day. I mean there's very few options here that would truly have you upset. And i think that just is a testament to the way the dolphins truly set up this rebuild and have this team in positions so i guess that's probably that with aaron jones. Unless you have something else say. Let's jump into an ad in we'll hop into big news from yesterday. Albert breer and davante smith support for this episode comes from locker room the app. That's changing the way we talk. Sports locker room is a sports fan. Dream come true. It's alive audio.

Ronnie brown miami Albert breer ricky williams yesterday aaron jones Gaskin davante smith Lamar miller seventh round Mill Two thousand J. j. j. j. myles Myles gaskin Addle derrick henry twelve thirteen fourteen both Miami

"We have a byron jones dilemma. We have a richmond. Webb pushed to the hall of fame. Welcoming defense radio. I'm jake mendel joining me. Josh house and we all these different topics. You're going to dive in today to shawn watson miami dolphins saying they were going to be in the suit stakes for all. That is kinda tossed aside because josh. We're going to record this last night last night being monday night but here we are on tuesday. We pushed back a day because clearly we look into her crystal ball and we could see that berry jackson. The miami herald was gonna port. That not only are the miami dolphins interested in aaron jones. Free agent running back for the green bay packers but aaron jones is also interested in coming to miami so with all that said. I've been listening to a bunch of comments reactions from twitter from finsider dot com and josh. I know we talked about this a couple of weeks ago. But here we are. Free agency is slated to begin march seventeenth. How are you. Would you feel about the miami dolphins making move for someone like aaron jones. While jake i mean what what a way to to kick off this podcast me like you said we were going to record last night. We weren't really sure what we're gonna talk about now here. We are the bunch of different topics. But how would i feel. I mean i think i feel the same way i did. You know when. I wrote an article a couple of weeks ago and it was that the dolphins should not break the bank for jones. I think that's where. I remain dead set aaron jones. I mean this guy is golly talent. I mean you can talk about the touchdowns guy puts up. he's a touchdown machine. Let's be honest and he can do a little bit of everything. But you're hearing twelve million dollars so reports this at fifteen million dollars. I mean this is in our money you know. I can't sit here and pinch pennies because ken dolphins draft the running back. I mean ken. Chris greer trade free running back. I mean they failed miserably last year. So maybe this is the best approach but for me. I think there's better ways to use that money. But what would i do. If aaron jones was given a huge contract by the dolphins i think we would both be over. The moon excited an ib trying to trade from every fantasy league. Because let's be honest. I mean again. This is probably top five running back in the nfl and and he's going to get pay what he's worth. I just again don't know if it's in the dolphins best interest to be that team to break the bank josh. I got a couple of questions for you here. cory littleton. Linebacker for the raiders. Are the raiders in salary cap. Hell because a cory littleton atlan becker. No I hope not about the cleveland. Browns sheldon richardson. Interior defensive linemen are the browns and salary cap. Hell because of him. No where are you going this. how about how about. Let's try this one. Devin mccourty safety for the patriots. The patriots southern cal because of him no but they are in salary cap. How does that does. But it doesn't so point is these are players that are slated to make around the same amount that aaron jones would get paid under the quote unquote let me put up the projected contract that pro football focus on. I actually didn't have it on page. So i'm gonna kinda keep rolling here Fourteen point six that they had projected to make last year deal. Twenty five million guaranteed roughly twelve million dollars a year. The guys i just gave you all make from eleven point. Five million dollars a year to twelve point five million dollars a year and a lot of the reaction is seen and rightfully. So you know. We are so used to the miami dolphins being in a situation where the cap has been a total total disaster. And you don't want to ruin that whole time. The miami dolphins haven't had a great running back so these two things. I think we need to put into context. That twelve million dollars per year contract the twenty five million guaranteed probably makes it where the dolphins get more wiggle room. This would be less than joe mixing this would be less than derrick henry. The dolphins signed this deal. So when i put into the into my brain the idea of the dolphins signing running back i instantly go. I remember guys like zac. Stacy i myles gaskin supper round. Pick aaron jones on a different level. This man is twenty six years old. He just bawled out for two straight seasons sixteen rushing touchdowns and twenty nineteen was the most in the nfl of the dolphins this year. Average two point six touchdowns as a game that was twentieth in the league joshua. So when i look at someone like aaron jones what he can do to this offense not only. Does it help to have a stud when you have a rookie and or young quarterback under center but josh the dolphins biggest weakness is inside the twenty. They struggled so much score inside. The twenty yard by last season and aaron jones based on his track record would do a wonderful job at fixing up that area of concern for the team. Yeah they get foot. Forty three total touchdowns throughout four seasons. I believe it was over. What three thousand x amount yards. I mean this guy again. He can do it all but to me. I think it comes to just you know how close to the draft you know. The dolphins have four top fifty draft picks. We know then. Go out there. And they get nausea harrison travis. I'm going to write an article about your bones say williams there are some prospects in this draft class but again or any of those on aaron jones level. I i don't know and again. I don't know that the dolphins you know we saw last year they completely avoided the running back position. They thought they get get their with jordan. Howard they make traits for deandre washington map read. It didn't work out. I mean. I did the math. Aaron jones at forty three touchdowns over his career and those guys i just mentioned had forty eight combined so i mean that just goes to put you on what type of level aaron jones is at so again. It's not my money again dolphins. They desperately need a running back. No one can argue that but just knowing that. We're this close draft. Knowing the dolphins. I put themselves in a very nice position to address the running. Back room That's why probably use that money to address a you know maybe a pass rusher or maybe a wide receiver but shaky throw an interesting name. There myles gaskin. And i talked about this on the podcast. I mentioned eric. Studs will play a huge role in developing myles gaskin. And you know. He did average four point one yards per carry. No he did look like a pretty damn good running back when he was out there. So you know a little bit of that plays into this. But i don't know jake that you know what you saw from myles gaskin. What you saw from salvin akhmed we saw is running backs. Can you know take you out and running for a talent like jones. So it's gonna come down to you know literally if you're sitting here and telling me we can get him for eleven point five million dollars. I mean that's a lot different to me than what some people reporting. I mean when i check spo track at fourteen point six a few weeks ago. So if that's changing i mean. That's a pretty significant change here for me but again not my money and air jones would be a helluva town for the dolphins to bring in the south beach one more so i still don't necessarily know where i stand on this but i do find myself talking talking myself through the situation of signing a running back like an aaron jones and what kind of just does for the situation the team and another number that i think is worth pointing out is You mentioned last year. They brought in matt. Brita they brought in jordan howard. I two guys that they signed jordan howard frequency paid. Matt breed is three point five mill. Along with trading leah draft. Pick on pick to the san francisco. Forty niners josh. Both of those things combined is about nine point five million dollars and then you put on a draft pick and and i dunno to draft pick seconds worth worth especially if we're going with a fifth rounder fifth rounder them pan out all the time but i mean nine million it. Would you pay that. Four or five million dollars to upgrade to someone like aaron jones to get.

Four jake mendel twentieth aaron jones Aaron jones nine million tuesday twenty yard Five million dollars twenty five million Twenty five million fifteen million dollars Chris greer cory littleton jones twitter twelve million dollars byron jones josh Devin mccourty

"What does this mean to you guys will go. I think this is an of an era at then we all kind of tell back To him and ben kind of sitting on a bench crying after the loss This year in the playoffs. And i think for you know when when i was around two thousand nine hundred ten when pouncey joining when he was drafted man And i was just kind of like coming off an injury and moved left guard at the time and he was ozzie. Are starting center man. I knew from day one to kill special. this he he played with such a freedom And then i wish. I could have ron johnson here to talk about it man. He he plays with such a wh- with a joy and a passion for the game. A lot of guys. Don't play with that but there's a lot jobs guys want to be ultra perfect on field right it. What to do their best when it kind of just when everything kind of be you know right on par and he have some guys who just you know that get caught up in a moment and maybe two stages too big for them or there's always someone he plays with absolute freedom and he loves the game and his his. His passion his charisma. His charm is grit his fight. His athleticism all comes as comes to play When he suits up on sunday so i had a lot of time to talk and and gets home in see where he is a where he's at right now is a man is is astounding magazine. Oxy's have a hell of a career is a kick ass owner for a long time but he really embodied the still away. And that's an an and i don't think too many guys to say that At the end of their career right a lot of guys you leave that organization either bidder that they weren't able to continue or something's happened on some this county gotten away. He he left as a steeler he he abided everything would have been to steelers so I'm i'm just so happy for because he can look back I'll say he never had a rain But he can look back and be very proud of everything he's ever him in his brother To have two twin brothers retire and had the rear they have is very rare so He he he means lots of. He's a special person to me. And i i love him to death and I'm just happy that he's walking out. On his own accord he's ninety and pushed out Like some other steeler greats than who are very did as they are bitter herself of. Yeah how they're how they were treated But that's not pals. He gives leave knowing that he gave it his a rebirth. Whose body tried to fight fight organization into the game itself so Among very happy for ya. I agree with everything really said i mean a guy owns a day one starter after he got drafted in the first round and twenty ten At center obviously he's formed that connection that bond with with big ben So that's kind of where my mind goes next. Obviously in embiid big ben's twitter account tweeted out. You know a quote from ben that you just said i have no words you know. Thank you and i love you with a picture of him. Hugging pouncey One of his best friends on the team. Such a strong connection like ryan We were talking about ryan jensen coming up with with tom. Brady a man. I mean just one of those guys that you want to go back alley west and william you can speak to it. Obviously but i feel like if i had to pick a steelers besides besides willy. It'd be you know markey's pouncey and david decastro these guys that you and you saw it on the unfortunate incident with myles garrett mason rudolph the two dudes are right there. We're trying to look the shed on myles garrett after after happened with mason rudolph was pouncing the castro That's just the kind of guy player. That markey's pouncey was county. Maty was You know all all sorts of steelers beat reporters talked. About how yeah. They'll miss him as a sinner but they're going to miss him in the locker room to just because of the kind of teammate. And the kind of Veteran that that young guys come in and look up to and that he could take care of so. It's going to be a big loss for sure multiple ways for the steelers and and and you know pounds. He's a legend. I'm so glad that he got to be a steelers. Entire career I tweet about it. A super bummed that we could get him a rain. You went to the super bowl in his rookie. Season didn't get the play because he was hurt but a steeler for life and now of course my next question comes to. What does this mean for big. Ben is that enough to push big ben to where he says he now pounces pounces done. I just don't have it enemy anymore. I i'm done to or will he come back and be ready to work with a free agent signing at center or rookie center that we drive this year. That's my next question. Quick you know about the center position. You just like the quarterback or star defensive lineman or whatever linebackers the face of the franchise a all pro center usually as to when you so when you have guys like johnson and pouncey jeff saturdays of the world and and audit although those those guys who as owner has as a semi who owns the team. Your center is the guy you wanna see. And if you have the luxury of saying i played position for longtime and driving offense. And to have your quarterbacks back guy the quarterback who you're paying one hundred dollars over the years you know he's in good hands with a solid center That that that's hard to replace. That's not something you know nick. Mangle don't see those guys around and have those type of careers. It'd be dominant and be a cornerstone for a franchise. So you have the neck mangoes and ryan jensen man in markey's pounds. Somebody's solid solid centers. Man You know they're hard because those guys all stick around nor they can it really gel with a quarterback you know some so that's why we see those guys last as long as a special. Yeah it'll be interesting to see because it's pounds. He's gone if the if big ben goes like these decisions are going to have to come pretty soon because you know the big bend. On runcie quarterback free agency is a is about a month away A lot of a lot of quarterback names are are going to be changing teams. That'll be very interesting. That the drafts The steelers based on the record in sierra macro picking to high should be interesting to see But we've got a very fun interview with packers running back current packers running back. Maybe not for too long. Aaron jones is gonna be one of the crown jewels of this free agent class One of the best running backs. No league He is going to be in grades and it appears unless he works at deal in the next two weeks but aaron jones packers rimac interview pro bowl running back that we get.

"One of the biggest rumors from this weekend was that the miami dolphins could at interest in aaron jones and it came from a couple of different sources. One being ian wharton a very well respected a writer for bleacher. Report work all over the place. But there are rumors linking the miami dolphins to san francisco. Forty niners the pittsburgh steelers and the chicago bears as having interest in twenty six year old. Aaron jones and jake you can look around the nfl. You can see you know how these rosters built and you teams just are not spending that big money anymore on these running backs but i thought was most crazy me. It was not only how many how many dolphin fans you know. We're sitting here in the draft of the eighteenth two picks and in the second round top four top fifty picks and fans sitting here talking about maybe throwing the bank at running back. That's not named derrick henry and it's just something that is baffled me because last year i talked about derrick henry. I've talked about their country for many years. And you know. Dolphins weren't really into that but now according to spo track you know what aaron jones could see on the open market is fourteen point six million dollars. You're looking at more than maybe with eric. Henry makes so Aaron jones love what he has his running back. We cannot. We cannot see your talk enough about how much we love fantasy football so we know what impact he has. How impressive he can be as a pass. Catcher wills between the tackles but shake fourteen point six nine. They're looking at a four year. Fifty eight million dollar contract potentially again. This is just You know. Just an estimation but but tell me your thoughts on going out there and dropping the bag off for running back neighbor jones. I certainly won't tell someone how to spend their money. Especially stephen ross. After in this situation. I will say if the dolphins did go out and make the signing of aaron jones i would spin zone it into oblivion about how it's the best citing in the entire trade for all my fantasy leagues. If you had him in that you run. I'd be on your knock next door man. I don't even every fantasy league but you know you always go back to the. I don't cliche at this point but the you know good teams. Don't sound running. Backs i mean..

Mina Kimes Explains Why SheIs More Excited for This Weekend Than the Super Bowl

"Meena. Hello pablo hello is an nfl analyst for espn and the host of the meantime show featuring lenny so i need to know where you are on the football excitement alerts scale right now because i for a true tape grinder like yourself conference championship. Sunday is in some ways. Maybe even better than the super bowl if the football excitement scale as you call. It was one through ten conference championships. Sunday's about fifteen for me. There's know maybe about whether or not it's more exciting than the super bowl. Pablo it absolutely is. This is my favorite sunday of the year and in part because by the time we get to the super bowl we've talked about same matchups over and over and it's usually like. How many times can we say what you guys rush brady with four. You know before and of course always been in the super bowl the last decade or so. That's a phrase. I've said a lot inventive. You say that. I was going to say you're the person i i would really make that a me. I mean it's true but it's also more fun when you get to talk about other things and this particular set of games. It's really the best possible combination of teams in my opinion. There's a reason why the lions in vegas are very close because it actually looks like a pretty well matched pair of games. I wanna start with buccaneers packers. Meena because this was not a close game when these two teams played back. In october roggio touchdown tampa bay fire the cannons the bucks and thirty seven rogers was abysmal. In that game through zero touchdowns he threw two. picks completed. Completed doesn't half passes in tampa bay when they played each other. The first time and tampa bay destroyed perhaps not coincidentally green bay. Thirty eight to ten. So how did that blowout happened. Well this is. It was such a strange game. Pablo because aaron rodgers has had this incredible season which. I'm sure we'll talk about this. Is the one real blemish on his staff third drops better pass picked off the other side. By two thousand fifteen touchdown touchdown booker. He stunk i. There's no really nice way to put it. Now he stunk in part because the offensive line in green bay which has been spectacular. One of the best football year got beat up. Front rodgers was sacked six times pressured twenty one times. I mean no most of the time this series look cool as a cucumber back there but this was not the case and as mentioned had these very surprising interceptions coming from him. I think he finished the game with a passer rating of like thirty five. Okay so really. It was all about the buccaneers. Pass rush beating green bay upfront and aaron rodgers being uncomfortable as a result and that was also reflected in the running game. aaron jones had just ten carries. He averaged like one point. Five yards per rush again. Very dissimilar from the rest of the season. But you saw what could or should i. If in the eyes of tampa bay be the formula for beating green bay which is if you can stop the running game and keep the packers from executing their play action passing attack which flows from that and get them into third down and get pressure on rogers and obvious passing situations. That's your best chance of beating now. All those things i just said barry. Few teams in the nfl been able to do that but tampa was able to do that the last time. These two teams that so many things obviously have changed since then as you alluded to. That was back in week. Six when that game happened. So in what you've seen since then who's been better this year. Aaron rodgers tom brady. Aaron rodgers is undeniably. Been the better quarterback this year and he is my pick by the way for. Mvp it's between him. And patrick mahomes. It's close but rodgers is that an unreal season. I mean just statistically he's been first and qbr brady was tenth. He ranks third in yards per temporary. He was eleventh forty eight touchdowns brady at forty. He only through five pigs brady threw twelve. You get the idea. So while tom brady is the most complex quarterback of all time i believe. Aaron rodgers is the most talented. Patrick mahomes is kind of them. A run for that. And when these two goats meat i don't know where goat's meat in a field a meadow anyway to meet makes me sort of hungary. Honestly that phrase oud took it there. I guess goats will be hurting in green bay this weekend but the goat whose homefield it is home meadow. It is has been the better one this weekend. That's metaphor really. Just got out of control.

"But what do with with the tape of that week We washed it on. You know you can't just throw everything out you gotta watch you. Gotta critical of yourself But also have a short memory at the same time and know that hey. This wasn't our standard of football This wasn't our best and hopefully we get to see this team again and they will see our best football and worked out like that and you did see veto on that day and it looks like you're going to see him again He's coming back From well actually no he. He had gotten hurt the week before. So you're going to see him for the first time. I'm just seeing that Well how do you think that might change. the Your your degree of difficulty. And well i think it always helps you know again. You're getting your main guys back your starters especially a key defender in d. tackle but You know we know it all starts front with us and we'll be ready to play aaron jones here on the rich eisen show. Okay did i see. I don't know if you you couldn't see. He was under center at the time It looked like aaron rodgers was smiling as he's looking over the defense and calling plays. You saw a picture of that on twitter after he saw that He's he's having a good time. I couldn't imagine how do we know what he was. Did you ask him to. What was he smiling. Because he knew that the coverage was right or he's just looking around and just being able to live in a moment of a of a big playoff game like that. What what was that about. Can you tell. I think that's when you check to some. Then you get the exact. Look you want or something like that. That grin is just like gotcha. That is definitely a scary notion for for the other side. What what is it. What's he what's he been like these last couple weeks from your perspective. He's been a true leader. You know Let let the guys know. Hey gotta make the most of our opportunities. distinct doesn't come around too often so make the most of it Play every down. Like as if it's your us you know you never know when you go out there. Well i mean. If i had him on he wouldn't talk about it so i've got a a big time teammate. Of his on. Can you give me an example of his leadership skills Involving either you or teammate of yours that he's that he he has just Serve with distinction in that role with the seon his chest. Aaron jones Yeah i mean is so many instances day after day But i mean it could be from somebody who's armed practice squad an him just taking a tom if they're in on a red with him him taking tom. Hey this is how it's supposed to be ran our this is supposed to look in He'll correct them and then and then the next time they come out and they run and they do it right. He gives them a little odd. That little that little small that you know and and that gives you a sense of confidence. Hey i'm gaining his trust. He knows that i'm understanding this. And he just wants to see you and then at the end of the day right and how about with you or with somebody who's usually in the huddle or something like that with him That i mean first interaction with him. I always say this. He told me I'm one of your biggest fans organization. And you don't know what that can do for somebody especially a rookie taken a snap coming from a future hall of famer There's just one of the many. I mean in terms of just sitting down On certain routes hey once you get to the fourth step do this at the top of the route and then give me your eyes. And and so he's just you know he's helping you. Evolve your game in every way not just nudges in certain places but as a receiver and protection. He's you know how to how to recover just how to read. Where the where. The blitzes coming those kind of things so he. He's he's improving everybody's game around him. And how do you think he's gonna do is in jeopardy when he gets there. What do you think about that. He's going to do. I think he's gonna kill it. Yeah you know. I mean what gives like. I'm not trying to come a quarterback you know hosting is kind of like my territory. Will you let him not back off with that. And i'm like. I'm not going to sit here and say you know what i'll give. What aaron rodgers usually does it try like. I'm not asking him. You know what i mean like. Just tell them Stay in his lane. If you don't mind. Would you mind you i got you. Yeah go up to him when you see him. Next day i was on the rich eisen show. He was talking about Hosting jeopardy tom stay in his lane. Okay do that. Will you really do you just laughing. And saying yes. We really know arado rich told me related message for you now and then i'm gonna let him know right. Yeah and let let them know that i. I hear his footsteps. And i don't greatly appreciate that at all. You know. it's like he's probably take that as a compliment. The footsteps okay. Yeah you know what i mean. I don't run fast. Aaron but i mean at least but i run fast when i host you know what i mean if if if hosting was running i i run a four four and that's the way i i'm coming out of the smoke. I get very competitive. When it comes to that. I think is more like a four three a little bit lower than i appreciate that. I'm a tremendous slouch. I understand what you're saying so The floor how does saleh's the coach helped you and your game. You just told me how. Aaron rodgers told you x y and z and how it's improved you but what about the coach who seems to get no run here for any coach of the year. Even though there's back to back thirteen and three seasons what about matt lawyers for coastal for us is really gave me a chance to a show what i can do and Turning me into the full time starter of before he came out with the full time starter splitting tom and then just You know sean. As well as someone what you can do and Running the ball protecting and then also as a receiver gone so many more opportunities as a receiver And just to show that i'm a. I'm a well rounded back. In that. I can't do everything and just a opportunities did he. He bought well again. You know just before. I let you go here Your kid from texas right and and now you're up there in wisconsin and you're going to be playing in a big time playoff game in in lambofield In in in the nfc champ game this is the stuff that dreams come true And you're you know you're you're a pro bowl runner of note in your own right. I say all that by asking you. If i told you growing up that you could deny tom brady a victory in what's maybe for him. The most important game of his career. I know he's one super bowls and they're all very important to him but this one to get to the super bowl at home. Nobody's ever done that before and to do it in his first year. Outside of new england this is very particularly important to him. And you have the ability to prevent it with your play. If i told that to that kid what would you have said. outta believed you just wouldn't maybe thought it was tom brady. Oh i who knows what quarterback is going to be. But i have believed you alabamian. I believe myself Since i was a little kid. I told my parents plan the nfl or nba I wanna be a super bowl champion. I wanna be a pro bowl. I wanna beast you know all these things so I believe if you if you think you and you believe in you talk into existence and it it'll happen..

"Aaron jones from the green bay packers will be calling us shortly as well. Do you have a poll question over there chris. Brockman that you can kyw cup. I had throughout a couple of ideas. I wrote down this morning. So that means no means. I have to give to all right well. Look i think we're on. I don't want to unpack them. Because a packer packers about to call in be curious what aaron jones thinks about these questions. Okay you sure. Well the the packers not evolved okay. So we don't put them in an awkward position. How he's not going to back here on the rich eisen show with already audience He is he's a touchdown maker. In the playoffs touchdown. All three of its playoff games to last year. One this year. Oh yeah so He is a at the running back position but we were on that we we were all that when he was running wheel routes and no one really add on their fantasy team. We were all over this kid in He's dynamite now. He's going to be running for the packers at home in an nfc championship game against a stout tampa bay buccaneer front. He is aaron jones. The green bay packers how aaron. I'm doing great are you. I'm doing better for talking to you. How's life other the hidden. I'm doing lives great. No complaints Blessed and glad to be talking to you well i. I'm always appreciative of you. Calling in and You know i. I kind of felt free last week. Aaron because you were the third most talked about aaron in that game. what gives. That's ridiculous with all the time to be named erin net that that was the worst possible game. You know what i mean. Yeah yes are i mean. Afterwards it wasn't too bad in the end zone. It wasn't too bad either. Did you did you. What was it like going against aaron. Donna was frustrated. We could be picked up a fifteen yard and obviously it was very emotional at as the rams it was obvious that time was running out on them. What was it like Being in that mosh pit with him when he was out there and I think our offense did a great job of limiting him you know I think i don't know if him not being one. Hundred percent plays a role into that. But i'm proud of our guys up front. It was fun going out there competing in anytime you get to go against the best You see where you get to stack up. Stack up it and you know i. It was fun for me Watching the game and hearing actual fans in the stands. What was that. Like for the for for this playoff game for you. It was amazing. You know all season. We haven't had really any fans in lambo And then to come back out. And i think you might have been eight thousand nine thousand there but it sounds. They were so amped up on like eighty thousand and I'm not making it up. I'm i've turned around and looking like what are these people hitting the stands with like they're literally begging something on the stand and it's is loud rocking and i loved it. Well yeah i guess the sensation take it for granted all those years and then you don't have it right and then all of a sudden it's so beyond appreciated aaron Definitely i think that's one of the things that was taken for granted the most Fan and how much of like impact they can have Help with momentum and in so many more things just bring that extra little energy that you need and then obviously now you got the nfc champ game two years in a row And this time however it is at home and that's gotta make a big difference. I would imagine you know Yes sir We we we think it's a advantage being up here in lambo With his code up here We feel like not a lot of people. Wanna come up here. We were used to it. We live in practice in it every day So is just a you got to embrace innocent mentality living up in the north. Where did you watch the The packer of the The bucks saints game aaron. Where'd you watch on sunday. I watched it at my house when my parents okay. So did you do some scouting in a way when you started seeing that you knew you'd have to face either. One of these defensive fronts do that Watching the game scouting both sides. You know You know as they as they were playing okay could be planning. These guys could be planning these guys so you. You're watching Both defenses playing. And then you know Come kamar really good back. So you get to see i he. He did against their their defense and see some of things that helped him be successful. So what do you do. Aaron jones here or the green bay packers on the rich eisen show. Now you had played both of these teams so you knew it was gonna be a rematch from a regular season contest. One in which you you beat the saints in in week three and then another Just right after that. Getting absolutely boat raced out of the spot where you hope to return and play a super bowl and what do you do with that film from that game against the bucks this week do you think what do you do that. you take it you learn from it you look at tendencies Wh- personnels You also look at how you started the game. You know we. I think we came out. We were up ten zero so Just look at look at how you can finish finish and continue to improve upon that ten. Au start right up in that game and then all of a sudden The the roof caved in in in in tampa so did say after that game..

"Get to the show won't let you know that today show on sirius. Xm channel eighty two mad dog. Sports feel good. Friday that involve a couple different. Things have worn sharp sharp analytics ball expert on the internet who has gone a lot of attention because his big old brain normally gets things right and his moustache is a big voluptuous. Hopefully he'll be on wearing or having a mustache lane. Johnson super bowl champion from the phillies. Eagles got injured this past season but can't wait to talk to him about what the fuck happened in philadelphia lane lane play. I know you're not in their gay. Because all covert protocol and things like that but you had to be text with some of the boys what the hell is going on over there and also lane is one of the most entertaining people. We've talked to one of the most entertaining people. I cannot wait to chat with him again. Houses offseason look into. We know what his contract is. Set up he. Do we know anything about that. We'll look into that. What he's got going on the future cannot be with him and in the third hour. Aaron jones running back for the green bay packers will be joining us Great conversation always upbeat always happy and now they're enjoying an off week and watching super wildcard weekend from the home because they are the number one seed in the nfc job. Well done to aaron jones before the season came on. Aaron rodgers told us that. Aj dylan who was going to be tough to get some snaps because or alluded to the fact. Didn't say it exactly. But he said aaron jones jamaal williams really good excited to get. Aj in there. I forget how exactly what it. But that's good running back room. Talk to aaron jones last year. He's a cool guy. We talk to him immediately after scoring five touchdowns against dallas cowboys four touchdowns against dallas cowboys and this year has been a big year from. He's going to get paid. he is. i just. Don't think it's going to be by the tackles. Fortunately well he probably understands that. That's possibility wants to go on a hell of a run this playoff speaking the playoffs. We'll talk about all the games this weekend. There's three on saturday three on sunday sunday night. Football be the cleveland browns. Taking on the pittsburgh steelers in front of no fans just family and friends at heinz field in the rivers city. The interesting thing about this cleveland. Browns haven't been able to practice because the amount of positive cases that have been rolling through their organization. They're without their head coach. They are without their playcaller which could potentially be a large deal on sunday night. We have advocated for the fact that he should potentially be allowed to drive from his house in cleveland to pittsburgh in his own car then they have people with full has match suits on the escort. Him up the back side of the stadium into his own booth in heinz field and let him call place. He doesn't want that nobody else wants that. We just think it should be possible but that game is going to be interesting because not only did the steelers allow the cleveland browns in last week by allowing them to win in not just that game. Got the cleveland browns into the playoffs. Cleveland browns have had a hell of a year but they had to beat the steelers in week. Seventeen to get in the blast. The steelers let them do that now. This week they get into the first time in eighteen years. Cleveland browns in their entire team is basically looking to be. They got no practice time today. No new positive so the boys are allowed back into the building. The game is scheduled to be on. But how will it team. That has no head coach. No practice time and no experience in the playoffs. Handle the pittsburgh steelers on sunday night. That'll be a large topic of conversation to turn to a die steelers fan on how he feels this thing to remember cleveland. Browns hadn't practiced they have not been into blast in eighteen years. They got no head coach. Playcaller no pro bowl offensive linemen couple other players out. Couple other coaches out going into pittsburgh pittsburgh at home okay. Home field advantage dot really with no fans the way he was talking before we got on. The show was a bit alarming. Fear steelers fan because dads has been right this year with the steelers digs your thoughts on game sunday night. You think there's a good chance that the dog pound goes into heinz field khanates every fucking body. You think they're gonna kick this.

Packers survive scare from Jaguars, hang on for win

"Wayne laravie. Wtmj with the call. Knicks shook now joins us. They adams did what davante adams does go down on. The packers won his. Td grab in. The fourth quarter was the difference in twenty four twenty win over the jaguars at lambeau shook. I know home. Field advantage was like fun and happiness in general eradicated by covid nineteen but how the hell the green bay let the loot nights hang up. It was weird games. I mean every once in a while you see a team that is clearly superior play a lesser team and not necessarily make mistakes but just things of unfold where the lesser team manages to stay in the game. A punt return for a touchdown makes what was going to be a runaway game. Close game just kind of unfolds from there that's really what the jaguars did for the most part Until the latter stages of the game when you actually put the ball and jake luton's hands and well we saw the result. I mean he's he's simply not the guy. But i mean a credit them for battling and and for sticking around the game long enough to make it competitive but ultimately the better team won the have to be thrilled. That marquez valdes scantling Put up the kind of game he did that. It's not just davante adams. But aaron jones came back on. I'm looking at the numbers here. Not mind-blowing was it was just sort of the way the game went that he wasn't massively. Impactful yeah and it was one of those strange games where the packers one time of possession by a small margin and it worked out of the jaguars favor in that. It limited them from making their own mistakes. You know the longer. The packers had the ball the less of a chance to jaguars had to make a game changing or a crushing mistake. Like throwing pick six or something like that and the credit to the jaguars for limiting the packers ability to turn those into points for the most part. It was the packers settling for three. Not being able to turn those possessions into touchdowns except for a few occasions and kind of just resulting in a closer game than expected. But i mean if you watch the game on the field for the most part you could tell you knew who was the better team like we knew coming into this game and it was just a matter of them pulling out the victory. Not everyone is pretty. And this is an ugly win for the packers. But it's still the same in the standings even was against the jack bars.

"aaron jones" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"Who? The Falcons forgot to cover. For the first touchdown last night. That was ridiculous. He will be joining us once again he's one of our favorites man. What a delightful story and when we had Aaron Rodgers on couple of Fridays ago I asked him about Aaron, Jones, and from his perspective watching his star rise in Rogers called him one of his favourite teammates the last sixteen years time. So. You know, and so we'll discuss that with Aaron Jones and more for the foreign. Green Bay packers phone lines are lit if you're on hold stay on hold and enjoy the next conversation because this guy. Is One of our favorites going back to our old podcast? I mean this guy's been around longtime longtime. And he's a delight. When he's either running with the Bulls jumping over bulls or now at the bills with the ball on the side of his helmet. Or? Bill Bill, the `Tatanka. Had A big play knocking the ball out of Darren Waller's hands chains a tenor, the game. A lot of momentum in this was. ALMO is wearing silver and black until this guy showed up making a his debut, the buffalo bills. He's richeisenshow favorite Josh Norman. How long it? Going on and what introduction? That's always know how to bring you probably. Don't want Josh I'm just as you know. A lead pipe wielding professional. But also I spit facts. That's what I do for living I skipped facts. What did I just say that was wrong. None of what I said was incorrect none of. None. Right you? Absolutely, right. It's You know what I feel like I'm for no every day but you are actually really that and I and you made quite an entrance. It was your first game with the bills after missing the first three. What was it for you to be out there Josh now man, it was such a blessing oh gosh. Big Big List now been working myself back. Tell us Since you know we coin actually even before we go on Tran-. Cabinet shelves being going down to injury getting with the training staff who is phenomenal by the way when best changed that I've ever been around we got they got us back healthy. The got his back in the game. doing everything that Noah supposed to do and. Working out feverishly more. So than I have before and you know just Bein it to get back out there with those guys and because there's such a such a great group man and they have fun with each other. And it's just so close here and you know I was able to get out there. They will put in you know what I said. We was GONNA do and finally came to in you know had not rust off I once I, got out there. The ended up not making play play for our team and that's why we're here. Knock the rust off and then you're not the ball away from Darren Waller and then your quarterback caches and infra six he's a special player. Josh Walk me through your thoughts having been around him for just a few months and seeing. The way that Josh Allen has been playing for your team. Oh my gosh. New Shoot. LEANING MVP candidate. I don't know who he is on the wrestling guys doing a good job over there. They're doing over there and you know homes he teams do what he's doing. But stuff these guys prenup. You know bringing nobody's had it's just remarkable. These things coming into his own he's. Far More, advanced than he was last season I think the weapons around him boost his morale even more confidence grows and he just wants to be the guy with the bomb of hands at the end of the game to make that way he's never out of it. So you have a guy like that you see what that looks like. It's almost like rally behind him and give him everything you eat go in his arsenal. So when that time comes, he can strike and that's what he's been doing it since we can week out and even his preparation going to. The game, it's just a student of it and you can see him rods and his elevation each and every game you put out there It's a special guy telling I'm glad to be a part of team with so you know we in the media business like comparing and contrasting and things that It's not your first rodeo serve being around an MVP quarterback who can throw and run and his big as a linebacker, and it's tough to take down and occasionally has been criticized for accuracy issues. Do you see similarities between Josh Allen and Cam Newton from two thousand fifteen? A great question. Thank you. Sorry, question. Thank you the not actually. I I will say this their willingness to win. And no matter what it is if it's threatening needle in that moment this picking up the first down by running if it's on the goal line and knowing that we got to have it, they're going to go forward. That similarity right there. Is just like the MVP Caliber Two Thousand Sixteen Candy. and this is Josh Allen. So I don't want to take anything away from him or compare him to Cam just only. Book. Personality wise. Put in a sense of football. mentality got that killer. You know instinct to where it's glass drive balls in my hand I'm GonNa make and that right there just can't coach or you can't teach so you got having. He has every did of that Moxie and saw. Josh Norman. Buffalo Bills cornerback here on the rich Eisen show and it is also not your first. Rodeo or would not be should this team make the Super Bowl you've been on a team that has made the Super Bowl before you've been on teams that have aspirations to make it as well. How does this first four games in BUFFALO COMPARE? To those previous campaigns, for Josh Norman. Feels great man right in itself you know it's going out there. We know we haven't put out best game out there on the field and I think in Carolina was the same thing to you know was first couple of games we just got rolling you know wheels on best start worn game two games we'll turn for that first quarter was four. No, it was like, okay like let's get sharper. But the thing that got me was our hardest moments wasn't the game. It was in practice like competing in practice even harder. Was it a game because we competed the price we made fun to the point where this right here this. is going to be hard right by teach. been coming into the game. It was just like a walk-through trust rehearsal like we was going to know it was showtime. Beth dude on best fit we don't go out there and we're GonNa make some place and we don't have we won't dance with fast literally that mindset that we take into you know each week and I saw like manifest itself last week really and we had a great week of practice and going out there you know over to Las Vegas it showed up on the field. Yeah. I'll be the defense mindset. The don't break mentality we had that going in, but we really wanted to you know. Out Dominance because we have shown that yet but was able to come up with he plays that we need to get the ball back to offense and win the game four. So we're waiting on that one game where we just you know Pinot ears back and go. Will Dak Prescott Sign A Long Term Deal With The Dallas Cowboys?

"Prescott. There is two hours and fifty one minutes left until Dak, Prescott, and Dallas Cowboys can work in extension if not he will be under the franchise tag for the next season earning himself thirty one point four million dollars guaranteed. With the potential chance I, guess up after this season or get franchise tag again. He is now the third quarterback in the history of franchise tags and the NFL to play on the franchise tag. If that happens obviously before after four o'clock drew brees that it what the San Diego chargers. He leaves Don Kirk cousins, does it? What The Washington redskins twice? He leaves town, so history says Dak Prescott will play. This franchise tag may be getting again even but not in Dallas Cowboy long-term. If Your Dad, how do you feel? Do you pumped about thirty one point? Four million dollars guaranteed because if I'm looking at that piece of paper I'm like fucking here we go. Yeah. He's got to be torn. I would imagine I'm sure you're excited. Okay? I'm going to be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys for another year. MC, thirty one million guaranteed, but he doesn't feel like he has that long term security that he wants from the team. McKay. You think I'm your guy. You're willing to pay thirty one MIL for one year. Why doesn't that don't you think you should give me five six year extension and give me big time money for down the road? That's where he's gotTA. Be Thinking, but so if he doesn't do it today though. He will become a free agent. When the League year starts next March right now after the season they can negotiate. There's another window after the season before free agency to work a long term deal. I actually had that happened after I got franchise tag the day before free agency, we worked a five year deal or four year deal, so I never hit the market, but I was franchise tag the year before, so they could still potentially do that, but I guess I five year deal was offered to Prescott. Numerous Times but DAK wants a four year deal. Cowboys won a five year deal and we've been told by everybody around the cowboys and that knows the organization that that is literally. The only holdup is a one year difference so that's very interesting to me because it feels like there's it's much bigger than just a one year difference there. Thirty three to thirty five million dollars offered with over one hundred million dollars guaranteed, so if you look at that, they know that the cowboys won a five year deal that means three years of that deal was guaranteed. The other two were not locked in for five years as opposed to attack once for four, so everybody's assuming he's going to sign that deal. They're not going to get a deal done, but it's interesting because. He could potentially get thirty seven point four or something next year if he gets franchise tag thirty seven point nine if he gets franchise tag again I, don't see them running into the situation next free agency. I don't. There's no way that the franchise tagging him again they would. You would think they get the deal done I think that they're trying to see if he and Mike McCarthy going to work, I honestly believe that I think there's now granted. They made him one hundred million dollar guarantee already, so maybe I'm wrong in thinking

Super Bowl Bound: 49ers and Chiefs

"Did bill. We made it to the Super Bowl. You me and Jimmy Garoppolo. I feel I I may have sweat more watching the NFC championship game. That Jimmy Garoppolo actually swept playing being in the NFC championship game. Bill Barnwell is a senior football writer at ESPN and the host of the bill. Barnwell show so after two weeks Of Extremely Exciting Football Championship weekend did not disappoint niners and chiefs fans disappointed pretty much everyone else or at least anyone who wanted close close games both favorites dominated so let's start with the most dominant team the San Francisco Forty niners bill win the niners packers met earlier earlier. This season. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career threw for one hundred and four yards. Tonight he threw for three hundred twenty six yards But the result wasn't much better. Why is that okay? So the first time these two teams played the niners won with an absolutely dominant. Pash Josh Rush Nick. Bosa and his teammates knocked down Aaron Rodgers ten times on Sunday. The only knockdown Aaron Rogers twice and while they did hold them without a first down conversion in the first half both of those games the packers movable pretty consistently I should say after after halftime instead the forty niners otherworldly in a different way on Sunday they ran the ball forty two times for two hundred eighty five yards and four. We're touchdowns averaging nearly seven yards per carry to put that in context. ESPN has a stat called expected. Points with measures how each play impacts team's James Chances of scoring on a given the forty niners racked up the second most rushing. EPA for any team in a game this season and and the most for any single team in a playoff game over the last decade just narrowly beating out the prior record holder. which just happened to be the forty niners? Twenty wanting twelve playoff win over. The Green Bay Packers would Colin Kaepernick. Ran For one hundred. Eighty one rushing yards. So they're leading rusher tonight. I was not Colin Kaepernick. It was re Moster who ran for two hundred and twenty yards by himself. were good has hat trick the first half of the NFC championship game deserves a hat trick of field grade baby bill. Will I am guessing. A decent amount of football fans hadn't heard Ramos before tonight. Okay so you mustard is basically it accident accident in football terms but it's such a cool story so the Shanahan offense has a history of unearthing obscure running back and turning them into stars going back to Mike Shanahan stays in Denver but even among those backs most particularly remarkable case. Liners did everything they could to find a different running back over the past a couple of years. They hand picked a runner who they traded up to nab in the two thousand seventeen draft never played a game for the team. They signed Jerick McKinnon Torres. ACL He's collected more than and twenty one million dollars for the niners without ever playing a single game for the team. This offseason they added. Kevin Coleman from the Falcons who suffered an injury in the first half and that opened up the door from western and most of its story is easy to root for. You heard him talk about it. After the biggest game of his life on Sunday crazy that I've been on seven. Different teams actually still have cut dates every before every game a look at the dates when I got cut not everybody can can deal. Would that type of stressing the pain and agony I went through. I kept the faith to not only myself but whoever gave me the opportunity is organization has done a great job most are made the niners roster as a special teamer at first but after he looked good in limited time last season they gave him a three year extension after playing. Well this season most are just became the first running back. NFL history to top two hundred rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in a single game. That's never happened in the playoffs playoffs before pretty good for a guy who was really an afterthought until the two thousand eighteen season. What's just remarkable? Bill is those two hundred twenty rushing yards. Were nearly three times as many yards as Garoppolo the night as quarterback past for which made for a remarkable stat sheet. There was a point in this football game where according to ESPN stats and Info. Jimmy went ninety four minutes in real time without attempting a pass so I have to ask going into the Super Bowl. Is that a sustainable offensive approach. I mean we all had that friend and in our twenties who got by succeeded solely because they were good looking right now that friend is Jimmy. Garoppolo I mean in the divisional round. He barely through through the football in the conference championship game. He barely through the football. We saw a similar situation with Ryan. Tannehill right over the first two weeks of his post. The season and when Tennessee ran into an offensive juggernaut with the chiefs their offense with Danny Hillis not able to accelerate into a higher gear. Now of course Garoppolo is the one who has to face the chiefs unless the forty niners can shut down the Kansas City. Passing game with their pass rush which isn't out of the question they're going to need to throw the football more quite a bit more. We've seen the niners succeed in games or Garoppolo and to throw the ball at ton with the Saints Win. Maybe as a notable for example but since Garoppolo through that interception against the Vikings in the divisional round cow Shanahan has called seventy one runs against just twelve passes passes even if the niners do end up throwing the ball effectively against the chiefs. It's clear that Shanahan doesn't WANNA put the game on Garoppolo shoulders unless absolutely necessary and that in itself is telling throughout the game bill packers fans were frustrated. Understand police and they seem to be taking out some of their wrath on the coaches arguing. They should have devised better game. Plans to both run the ball more and stop the run and do you think there's anything that Matt Leflore or the Packers Defensive Coordinator Mike Patton could have done differently in this game. Yeah I think so I think to be fair. Shanahan might just ask pedants number. It just felt like you is several steps ahead of the packers defensive coordinator and when pen and tried to adjust it just never seemed to catch up and work there. There was one play I think in the second quarter was a microcosm of everything that went wrong for the packers in this game. They came out in their nickle package with five defensive backs against the forty niners base. He's too back offense which created the size mismatch. The niners pitched the Baltimore and not only did he have a huge hole but he made both safeties with on their tackle attempts downfield win for about thirty yards. pedants struggled to put his players in positions where they could succeed and meanwhile leflore didn't coach like a guy who was a seven point underdog. The packers punted. I believe on their first drive on fourth and one from the fifty yard line. We know the packers are enormously more effective offense with Aaron Aaron Jones on the field but the floor still Jamal Williams their backup running back. Play over thirty percent of the offensive snaps and he didn't really take advantage of move the niners movement Richard Sherman. That was really fascinating during the regular season for the niners and during the vast majority of his time in Seattle Sherman signed up for almost every every snap asked the left cornerback. Defense playing against the right side of the offense. The niners started the game on Sunday. Which chairman on the opposite side of the field on the right side of the defense on the left side of the offense against devante items and while Sharon didn't travel to the left side very frequently? He did do it a few times during the first half. The second half Adams was able to be isolated Sherman over the top for a huge play downfield. I think that played about half of his snaps on either side of the field. I would have liked to have seen for trying to isolate him against German a little more often and take his chances with

"The Packers are one step away from the Superbowl after churning inside the Seattle Seahawks twenty eight twenty three at Lambeau field Aaron Jones with two rushing touchdowns davanti Adams catching a pair the Packers built a lead of twenty one three at the half the Russell Wilson almost single handedly brought Seattle back got it within five one last possession but the Packers got to stop and Aaron Rodgers closed it out with a couple of key third down conversions with another clutch effort again there's a lot of belief in those moments are gonna get the job done and today was fun to have to have plays in the making Packers head back to Santa Clara to take on the forty Niners a team that beat them thirty seven eights in the regular season mark Daniels Green Bay

MNF Recap Packers Vikings; Beastmode returns

"The packers certainly did not blow the doors off the Vikings Aaron Rodgers and company. They you know. They struggled for large portions of this game on offense against a good vikings demon in a very difficult place to play. But I think the story of this game really will be what a massive egg. The Vikings Kings laid an Wessel. Start with you I know you and I have had our disagreements with Kirk cousins and the Vikings were blamed should be assessed when the vikings go wrong and this does not make me the winner that argument you're right and everything he said it was all right. Dan is declared the winner. Now that is that is not true because a lot of people people didn't show up in this game it's certainly not kirk cousins either seven first downs for Minnesota and four quarters the fewest home game by this organization since Nineteen seventy-one Avenue. One Keith. Hands US was a junior at Clarkston high school at that time senior clocks down high. The man's grandfather. Wes speak to it. Come on Kirk cousins. Put the team on your back when they need you. Well like I said on Thursday you and I see more IDA. I'd on this than than it seems like. I don't care what his record is on Monday night football that is immaterial it like somehow nine Monday night games are better than than Sunday games. I might have been true in one thousand nine hundred three three. I don't think that's been true lately. Thirdly we've seen this before he didn't come up. When the redskins needed a late season victory he didn't come up big when the Vikings of two thousand eighteen needed a late season victory and he didn't come up big tonight and like you said the blame can be assessed to a running game? That didn't exist. An offensive line that got worked over by the packers Akers front seven a defense that got some turnovers but also allowed one hundred and fifty yards to Aaron Jones. A coach who punted down thirteen with three and a half minute or four minutes left in the game. There's a lot of blame to go around but I you cannot escape. The Kurt cousins led an offense that had seven first downs. And like you said since one thousand nine hundred seventy. One was the last time that happened in Vikings home game. This is one of the most disappointing performances. Any team is head all

Packers' win over Vikings

"Bit about the Packers and Vikings the game last night in a victory for Green Bay as they win the NFC north a six time that our Rogers is quarterback the Green Bay Packers to an NFC north title there twelve win team but they're not getting the respect that they deserve or is it a case of you look at those twelve victories bogus and say I know they're twelve wins but you know are they really that good of a football team you are a ball bill Parcells used to say you are what your record is so the Packers of one twelve of the fifteen games that they play this year they've got one to go I mean that's pretty darn good when you think about it and they've got an opportunity to be the number one seed in the NFC they win and the forty Niners lose our they're gonna be the number one seed so all in all all avenues will go through Lambeau field for the Green Bay Packers yeah which is not where you want to play in January slash you know we're December slash January but I just I don't be it's fits all that both the this game last late leaves us wondering about both of these teams right what what how good actually the Vikings and how good actually are the Packers and I I think the easy thing is to say man the Packers play defense last night and they ran the football if they can do those two things consistently here the next couple weeks they're gonna be a tough out but I I I still in stock on Aaron Rodgers because I went into that game paying close attention to him I'd read it I guess it was last week an article about how there been a developing split between Rogers early and late in games and the Packers are a team that kind of script to be how they're gonna start a game they have the feel they can have their first like ten or fifteen please planned out and once Rogers huddled recently had a left that kind of scripted portion the game plan all of their production had kind of dwindle it'll be like they were they were scoring points early in the struggling late I want to see the pattern continued last night and he never really got it going last night no and the three turnovers early and you want the point we made almost the beginning of the show back in our number one and you know I I I want to believe in them I will especially playing at home in limbo but I I know if if he can't throw it and they can't catch it and they can't score points that way I I can't trust the defense enough against San Francisco or New Orleans we're Seattle your ticket to get them through a game anywhere so they've got to me ask you this is our Jones good enough to carry the team offense I don't think so you don't think so I I think young with what you saw last night a hundred fifty four yards on the ground he's had an unbelievable year the albums have been an issue right but you know catching it and run it out of the backfield Jones has been an absolute start for the Packers could not be less about Rogers could be less about his brilliance of a signal caller and more about running the football winning at the point of attack in a winning time of possession getting after the quarterback they can certainly do that defensively but offense of Lee can be less about Rogers pulling a miracle out of his rear end and could it be more about Aaron Jones basically wrote it down your throat hit list yeah I get it its it's there's two distinct ways to look at it that this is that this is good news that they actually have a complimentary Aaron Rodgers throwing the field for a long time they haven't had a good game and he was able to throw it have success throwing it despite no running game I just I still ng feel that they need that passing attack to be at maybe dynamic is asking too much based on the weapons around with us and who we throw the football to but I still think they just need more than they've gotten over the last month or so that's fair and and listen I I don't I don't necessarily disagree with that especially in this kind of a league especially the fact that neither you or I can really trust that Packers defense even after what we witnessed last night but let me ask the question this way is it a case of not having the weapons around him or is it a case of a regression in the quarterback I don't think if any regression is there I don't think that it's anything more than that and kind of the normal regression you've had you'd have to be at this point of your career I don't I don't think he's falling off more like in any significant way he just wanted me because he is always you throw devante Adams right Jimmy Graham is a what it once was but should be great still good target yeah all right and although it it sound I don't know if it's Jimmy Graham I don't know if its defenses I don't know if it's a Rogers thing but but grant as we get targets anymore no it is not getting the target but it but you would we would both agree that Jimmy Graham can if the boss coming his way Jimmy grams gonna make the reception I like Geronimo Alison I like don't think Rogers does no I I I but that's what that's also a problem to where you do limit yourself offense of Lee if you're targeting one player sixteen times right over the course of the game I mean that's where you could look at the regression maybe not the physical regression but maybe it's the mental regression of Allah Rogers where he is too too much of a lean toward one player and maybe that's where it's hurting the offense where he's not spreading the football around enough to where he's building up the confidence of young players rather because while did our Rogers bogus she was never got it yeah I looked at the library not being totally a product of guys around him I don't I Rogers guy that you know you me and it Palade a chap could be the wide receivers and our Rogers of find a way to get the football you're still less and less of that as he

"A great a this was a fun match of the NFC north Chicago Bears have won three in a row the Green Bay Packers have now won two in a row does green they keep winning or does a Chicago Bears keep winning that's a tough one because the bears I mean this is basically the bears season if they lose this game they have no hopes of of the playoffs so and I look at I look a Green Bay and air Rogers the second best player on on this offense because Aaron Jones is the key I mean everything goes through him his receive an outback feel him making big plays and and and really using his speed and his quickness to make things happen I don't trust Mitch Mitchell travesty I just you know I think he's been doing a great job of running using his legs and making plays but I'm a ball with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers I think I think it's important for them to keep pace and and to keep that you know kind of this is that the playoff seeding where they're at I like Green Bay I'm really what the bears because you said it the the need to have to win this game in the sense of they lose the playoffs are over but real quick here's a statistic that's mind boggling Aaron Rodgers is thirty six years old he just turned thirty six years old I know we set the first what three or four years of his career June is only thrown eighty two career interceptions including only to this to this year right that's right that's it that's unbelievable you think about that that's efficiency at

"Think that he definitely has the chance to have some huge weeks and I think it's more more like this year is going to be tough for the giants. In general to you know have houses of Games But with him being twenty two years old Rian from a dynasty perspective. I think he's got gigantic upside. All right let's move on. We have another Guy Derrick Henry on this list who before we go any further is on by this week We are aware that you're aware of that. Ouch Yeah he's on by this week but he's had a big season season so far man and I I've seen a lot of talk Derrick Henry on the time line these days and it seems like I don't know it seemed like some people aren't crazy about them and then some people super crazy about him so curious where Youtube Fall. Let me say the rest of the year. We got a bye week this week. And then we have the Jaguars. The colts the raiders. The Texans and the saints the Week Sixteen does any that get you guys really excited with Henry or are you part of this strange group. That's not excited about Henry How you guys on this one? I mean I was in last week's podcast like if you can trade for Derrick Henry now is the time to to do it. I said that last week he went off in was a either the top or second highest fantasy score last week. I can't recall for sure. But like Derrick Henry is the RV five Pr Leagues Right now. And this is the beginning of the year like everyone has the impression that Derrick Henry Henry this monster at the end of the year will. That's coming so if that's possible. That's what's going to happen with. People seem to be afraid of this their upcoming schedule and Tennessee. Not being in plus matchups. And you know him being game scripted out. I guess but I mean to me it's Derrick cadre and they're going to continue to feed them ball and the colder against the more they're gonNA feud the ball and I just think that you know with how will his performed I don't you can trade them for anything outside of if you're getting like a Dalvin Cook I don't even think I'd trade him for Aaron Jones at this point because I think that down the stretch he he to me. It has huge upside and I want on my team. Yeah and this is like a PSA to the fans community. I understand. The raiders are on the schedule. So you're scared but don't be it's all right it's all right it's going to be okay. This is Derrick Henry. He is if we're talking about trust like he is what you trust them. The titans like that. Like if you're going to trust anything it's him right so he's had a great year so far there's nothing other than the raiders on the schedule. A free two points that he's a struggle so I mean I I don't get I don't get I don't get the flack. He's getting an atom. It's important that you said he's number five. MPR like nobody would have believed that right like before. Everyone always like this guy is like you know. So he's not GonNa be good. NPR formats as good. And it's just like he's proved that wrong and so like I don't understand why any alleyways Guinea slack arena. I just don't get it. He doesn't have the floor that somebody is getting six targets game right GonNa have but he just he has the the ceiling and I think also probably goes back to a lot of like if you're playing in leagues where you start at six or seven guys. It might be tough to start a Derrick Henry who doesn't have floor but if you're starting titter eleven guys does ceiling becomes a lot more important. Yeah man like Derek. I don't get it. I don't get the hate. I like a man like Adam said. He's only going to get better going the rest of this year as a as a as a Katina Procedo the guys wear down. Henry's is GonNa hurt defenses man. I don't get it. We all trust them. That's very obvious we don't really need it explained. We're not to say we've already explained it The next one thing thing allocated to that just because it's funny it doesn't really has to do with Derrick Henry but Derek Henry's the RV five right now he is one hundred seventy fantasy points. NPR League's Christian. McCaffrey outscored him by over a hundred fantasy points in one less game. That's crazy. Just like what is he doing. I don't know but it's definitely time to sell over Montgomery for sure This this is the window. Let's move onto another guy. You mentioned just a couple of seconds ago. Adamant as Aaron showns. Aaron Jones has made our trust issue list. Anyone want to establish this. Yeah I do trust because I think this is like one of my biggest hits on the year I hit home. I'll admit it all all over Aaron Jones. I mean he's one of my like three highest stone best ball running backs and I. Yeah I mean proof move I feel. I feel almost like I lucked out. Because he's had some monster touchdown games but really at this point. I think the Green Bay just just like I S- crazy but I think that Aaron Rodgers bought into somebody else's offense and it's working and the away they're able to run the ball. I mean both Williams and Jones have been super viable but Aaron Jones is the one getting the touchdowns man and I just. I gotTA keep rolling out there every single week. He's the Is just it's all touchdowns though like he's you know he's very much in a in a timeshare is getting sixty percent of the work. It's it's all on the Red Zone touches touchdowns Josh you can say. He's the Willfuller running backs I just like. Do we think touchdown street continues. That's I mean has he. He's been like bad. Had An amazing and then like okay okay and then be amazing and bad and then it just like I don't know I don't know if it's predictable in any way or if we look back NC exactly where he's done bad and why you know why those cases have happened. But I mean like Adam said he's had some monster games and then he's had games where he's like basically basically been like three points four points He does have you know he catches the ball at that. That share kind of concerns me a little bit. I feel like especially as the season goes on. Are we concern. Turn it all of those share more and more or that will lean one way or the other. I don't know that will change. You know I always. I'm always afraid of of splits. That are so split like this that what you know and maybe that is I look back on the games that he did bad. Did Williams do amazing or do they just both do bad. I mean Williams has been really really consistent cent. Yeah But I think we over over concern ourselves with these split Backfield's in the NFL today. I mean remember Alvin. Kamara was the top five fantasy running back. You know like with Mark Ingram in the backfield like you don't need a ton of touches and the thing that Aaron Jones owns is doing is. He's succeeding both in the running game in the passing game. It's not like he is only urging weeks. He's only had one reception but just three weeks ago against Kansas City. He'd seven receptions for one hundred and fifty nine yards. The Guy has an insane skill. Set the spans. Basically anything you could want from running back. I think what Green Bay's doing. They're utilizing him smart. They know they can't the overuse him and have him for the play offs so they think that Williams is capable back. They're realizing him as well. I think for fantasy out can let me be disappointed. I mean this is the workload is getting these Arby's three. NPR Leagues So. I have a feeling it's either going to stay pretty consistent or have the potential to go up still because he's not receiving that big of a workload and if that workload increases his fancy reduction could as well. Yeah I I can't say I don't trust him I I certainly trust them but I also trusted. He's going to have games where he may not be so so So so much of the factor I guess and again I don't I haven't looked close enough to see exactly why that is or what else happened in those games but I feel like you know you have to take the good the bad you. Now he's going to have those huge gains where he's GonNa when weeks and you hope that if he does this appear again. That is not in the game that matters in the playoffs overall Josh do you trust Aaron Condones. Now Oh now I mean if I had him I think you keep playing but like I'm just waiting for the bottom under drop out If he doesn't score a touchdown the best he's been rb thirty three. There's just there's no god there's no floor. The floor is fallen out. Adam sorry buddy jazz entrust them. He does not trust Aaron Jones. So you can make a lot more. Derrick Henry is getting all opportunity so we so would you so when a Derrick Henry Jones trade happened. That's interesting I think it's totally fair. I honestly I think that's fair. Verron both dynasty and redraft. I don't know which side I'd want. More on. Roads is a better player. Like he's he's a very get player. I don't think that's the issue eight. You know. He has passing game. Talent guys are above some pretty impressive names on the list you know. They're both out there in the top five so I mean it's hard to argue either one that I mean hard to say you can't trust either one of these guys. They're both top five. It's just a matter of you know when the fancy playoffs come around you know how. How do you feel you know? How do you feel about putting it all on one of these guys and you know and them carry Gary Your team to the promise land I think you have to trust them. I'M NOT GONNA lie. Most teams would be better off with Aaron Jones in the lineup and than what. I'm starting at running back. But it does just feel like he's gotten a pretty good ride on the touchdown variants. That's what's that's what's going on. It may be a continues if green. Bay's offense keeps clicking. Keep deciding Xining to run in the red zone than I guess he has a good chance of continuing. It's GonNa be fun to follow the file. These two guys Actually real quick. I was just thinking it. This is kind of the weird thought but I did so many drafts this year. That like stuff like this is ingrained in my memory. These guys were going in like the third round you easily could have started a fantasy draft this year Christian McCaffrey. Aaron Jones Stare at camry interest dominated killing it. Yeah I don't think I have any of those. I don't either GonNa be well aware if I did and Aaron Jones is on by this week's of yet your Brian Hills is your felon right right. Josh Right Right. That's right. He's your guy all right. That's it for trust issues with three players that we were pondering this week. Let's move over to our WRANGHAM. We Josh Josh puts them working on this one again man. Josh is putting in work on these notes. He's got the showdown slate. He actually added names this week. I see Josh. I'M GONNA ACKNOWLEDGING LEGITIMATE ACKNOWLEDGE IT. I'm going to acknowledge your your work ethic here bucks in saints the showdown slate. We're going to rank them. Are you prepared. Prepare for this item. I mean I have actual questions for Josh Are you intending to have more of a DFS slant and actually you based upon their salaries or we just talking straight up..

"Ten fans the fan groups that are going to suffer the most this year and he did the ten of them and it didn't have the browns in. There had to be the first time in twenty years at the Cleveland. Browns were one of the ten longest suffering fans or most suffering fans or whatever that that thing was and I actually tweeted to him like. Are you kidding me. And he's like no the browns. The browns are going to be good. I'm like wow. That's that's bold. Did you know this. This team has proven to not know what it's doing for a very long time and you know they have the pieces. I mean there are I mean. I don't know if they have all the pieces. I don't think that's the case but no all kinds of playmakers and and and bite jumped the gun on how good Baker Mayfield is is right that that was a huge air went with a head coach. Who certainly did some wonderful things last year as a coordinator for the first time in his career but no coaching experience? No head coaching experience. No no very limited coordinator experience so that happens and and then of course injuries are injuries and they happen. Everybody and suddenly you look around. This team is not very good and I don't know that anybody has any idea and they're playing incredibly sloppy right. I mean that's the bad thing I mean. You turn overs in penalties. I I mean that's that's exactly what you don't do and then you don't have coach. Go around telling people. I don't coach penalties. We we know that you've you clearly don't coach how to prevent them. That's that's a big issue so for me. This is so much it's fun because as you know I mean I've been a sports writer for very long time and we work together at sports illustrated and we've done a lot of things. I've written a lot of football but now I have have this opportunity to write what it's like to be a fan right of a team. That's not and hasn't been good for a long time and it's really fun and I. I realized that experienced doesn't not many people right about that. I mean fans do but I mean not many not many people right like a like a weekly diary the way I do about the browns and it's fun to sort of you know even more than I would normally live and die a little bit with it so that I can sort of right about what the experience appearances like and the experience right now is i. I don't think these guys know what they're doing and look out below. Here's one thing that I would that I would say this to me. The first person who ever said this to me was Ken Anderson of the Cincinnati shores. And he said you're never as good as you look when you're winning every week. Yeah you're never as bad as you look when you're losing absolute right and I think that is everything about the Cleveland. Browns grounds. The thing I told people at the beginning of the year and the reason I did not pick him for the playoffs. Is that talent wise. They're starting team. One through twenty two was one of the best twelve Talent groups in football. So you say well you know. Then that's a playoff team but everything else about this team. This organization at this time was was unprepared not that they didn't try to prepare but if the NFL gives you a schedule where in week two WHO. You're on Monday night football in week three year on Sunday. Night in Cleveland. In what you know good friend of mine is from Cleveland. CLEVELAND SAID IS THE BIGGEST GAME in Cleveland since we came back right nineteen thousand nine hundred nine. No doubt okay. You go from the emotion on Monday night too short week you playing on Sunday night. There's Al Michaels and Chris Collins. Yes then two weeks later. You're on Monday night football again. Yeah in San Francisco against is a surprisingly good team. Yes and so this is a this is a franchise that for twenty years has been playing Sunday afternoon at one o'clock with nobody watching right and the sixth broadcast team for CBS. Do in the game. Yes and now. What is it like every week when first of all you've got Nansen Tony Romo Roma Right? And then you've got the Monday night guys. And then you've got collins worth and michaels and so time after time every single time that you try to have just a normal existence or wait a second. There's somebody wants to come in and do a half hour Mike. Tharika wants to do a half hour our with Baker Mayfield and this guy wants this and this guy wants that and all of what I said at the beginning of the year is that the browns have not arrived yet. They're being treated like a team. That has arrived yes and I think a lot of teams probably would be fairly good at handling that except no-one no one on that team. With the exception I would say of Dimitrius Harris the backup tight end mortgage Brunette the safety. They've played deep game games into the January eighteen. You're right no one else of the fifty. Three guys on that team ever has the head. Coach has never coached that even in January January. He's never been a head coach right so I look at all these things and I just said it's a perfect storm designed for them to be seven and nine or eight. which doc I know everybody is going to say Oh my God? That's not progress. Yes it is progress. Yeah you know if you get used to if you get calloused by the the by the bigness. You'll be okay next year. It's just in my opinion. I said this to good friend of mine from Cleveland. The only thing I would say. Just don't overreact. Yeah just don't because you're gonNA wake up at the end of this season depressed. Say I'd still. You'll rather have this team than the Derek Anderson. Her Breezy Quintin. Oh absolutely and I would agree with every bit of that including to the point where I think if they can get eight seven and nine if they can play a second half of the season where they go five and two or four and yeah. Yeah I think I think it's a real progress. I they they have had a tough schedule. Your point is one hundred percent right not only to have a first year head coach but ever first year coach. With this kind of expectation dictation put on them. These kinds of circumstances put on. They've not lived up to that they've not handled it and you can see that a lot of it is is overreaction. A lot out of it is trying to do too much so I don't think that's the issue. I think the bigger issue to me has been the lack of improvement as the season has gone because you go through with one time two times three times. You have a bye week and and then you lay an egg like that in New England where you know you match up and can't come close because you're so outcoached and out. I think ought to be interesting to see Joe in the second half of the season where you get the bengals twice. Yeah steelers twice yeah. We're you've got where you've got and a lot of teams that you've got a chance to win these games right every week. And that's why I think if they end up. Worse than eight nate. or or let's say worse than seven nine which I don't think they will if they end up worse than that then. It's time to worry but I don't I you could. I could it just see this coming. I'm not saying that I could totally see too in five coming but I can see a lot of this coming and I think my only advice to people love the browns is just just. Don't overreacting this right. I didn't I think there are two big questions. And we'll find out when they are because they're playing Denver this week when they're playing teams that they definitely only match up with you week after week. One is is Freddie. Kitchens advancing as a coach because as of right now he's he looks overmatched. All the time and the two honestly is who's Baker Mayfield. I mean I think you know it is. It is really a disjointed experience to watch Baker Mayfield struggle on the field and then watch ten commercials with Baker Mayfield in them and yeah you experience. Good it does. And he's great But what would you know what's going to happen on the field with Baker Mayfield and and I think he has been put unfair position as they all have the NFL and this is what it's about. They played incredibly tough schedule under a huge Mike microscope that they did not necessarily put their they they were running around for the most part telling the only people that were going to the Super Bowl. It's everybody else that was saying that about them so they were put in this situation. They had to live up to it. They have not lived up to it. But now we're going to find out what this team mm-hmm is really about. Joe Poznansky the life and afterlife of Harry. Houdini from avid reader press. I'm I'm a huge fan of yours and I'm a huge fan of this book. I very very strongly recommended. And by the way it's coming coming up the holiday shopping season this is GonNa look so beautiful under the tree. For one specific reason the covers allred. It is very nice very nice nice but anyway joe thanks a lot for coming over and joining me thank you my.

"The escape because it was a reporter for the Daily Mirror who these and I love so many things about it but what I love of most about it is. We still don't know how he did it. Exactly everybody as theories including me and you wrote about three of your theories I did. I wrote about at the most popular theories that I did some minor theories and then I had to give my own theory. How he did it but a guy from the Daily Mirror said that he had found locksmith in Birmingham who had built impossible to escape handcuffs right? They've they have these very long key and you have to turn the key key several different ways in order for it to open the lock. So you can't pick it. It's not a pickup lock. And he brought it challenge Udine who the. I didn't want anything going to do with it. And then you could tell that. Houdini was nervous. He was very when he was when he was confronted by this reporter. Yeah in in an auditorium right. He did and the hippodrome or wherever. You wasn't hippodrome. That's what he did he always. You'd say okay anybody anything to challenge me and he took the stage reporter and said I challenge you. And he's a no no all those aren't regulation cops and then he went off to another part of the stage and the guy refused to leave the stage and they eventually. Houdini had no choice. The crowd was jeering him and the guy actually made a great he yet to give them a lot of credit he said oh Mr Houdini. You're an American and I understand. Americans have nothing to fear from the British. So so do you want to represent your country. You know and Houdini was found himself trapped and he said okay. I accept the challenge but he was nervous service and he before he went out he said I cannot. Houdini was a very it was braggart news a bold guy but he said before that he goes. I can't promise you I'll get out out of these but I promise I will do my best and it was an hour long escape. Life had many many peaks and valleys. That people can read about. If if you if you what was so interesting I thought about this and I forget who today told you today. America has no no America's too impatient shore through performance. You want something different to happen every second and yet crowds were being asked when Harry. Houdini performed like this time in England. They were being asked to sit there while Harry Houdini would go into a tent right or or would go. You go behind the curtain or whatever to try to work to do everything to get out of these handcuffs is straight jacket. Yeah and so this. This was happening and I recall from your story three times. He came out yes and at one point he asked the reporter. Would you you please unlock my handcuffs. Because I'm getting hot right and I WANNA take my jacket. Yes yes and the reporter refused to do it. He said I've you've seen the cuffs locked. You've never seen them unlocked. I won't do that. And the crowd booed and that Houdini said okay enough and he reached with his mouth into his front pocket and pulled out a pen knife and and like somehow opened it and then like made a whole bunch of slashing motions and slashed the jacket. Right off the crowd. He was such a showman. You know and the crowd went crazy. But you're right. The crowd is sitting there. You imagine now for twenty minutes staring staring at nothing. There's literally nothing while a band plays. You know you're just like but but it was a different time but there's no question all the time people were in the crowd crying. They were so scared they were so nervous and he came out and everybody cheered but he still had the handcuffs on and then and then he went back in when he came out again and everybody cheered and he still had handcuffs on. I mean yeah. That's not playing today. We're not nobody. Nobody is watching that whole thing today but it would do differently today. Am You if you believe as I do that. A showman is a showman. You know somebody who can who can perform they'll find what the audience wants and that's what he was able to do. So Joe what happened in this particular in this in this particular story which is my favorite story in the book. Yeah well at the end he he does escape end. The place goes crazy and they carry him on his shoulders and he talks about you. Know what a end the end the reporter order graciously says you know Dini has has one and everybody goes crazy and and nobody knows for sure how he did it. But everybody's pretty sure that he made the whole thing off like the whole thing is is Houdini. Houdini sat up and so in other in other words. Do you believe to this day is at your best. Guess because you can't know runs sure this happened one hundred fifteen years right so you can't know for sure but is it your a best guess that it was an inside job with him in the reporter. That's why I believe I have. I have theories about how they did it with. I really fun but it's so Houdini every like this is like the thing that that you come to at the end is. Houdini was in some ways. Houdini was more or of an athlete than he was a magician. He had to win. Winning was everything that matter to him win win win. You challenged me. Nobody can keep Houdini prisoner. That was his slogan. So he's not going into something he can't win. There's no way that Harry Houdini he's not going to have some way of getting out so and later there are many stories. I don't know how true they are but when he would perform the water torture. Sal performed the milk escape. Milk can escape. Yeah where he'd go underwater same thing that the escaped literally took seconds to get out but then he would be backstage reading a newspaper Ver- way while the crowd is going crazy outside waiting for the right moment to actually come out so it feels a little bit like that Joe. Got One one more question to ask you. You write in great detail about how he died and to me. It's it's a matter of great sadness quite honestly that he probably died by getting beat up by somebody who might or might not have been been a college student right and Harry. Houdini late late in his life very late in his life now would challenge lynge people in always both physically mentally everything and he was being interviewed in Montreal. One one day when someone showed up and I can you just recount the story about what exactly happened. Yeah yeah the the guy shows up. He's doing an interview with other college students. He's older and you know he doesn't really fit the scene but Houdini seem to have known him and he says. Isn't it true. Mr Houdini that you have challenged anyone to punch you in the stomach you can withstand any challenge and Houdini kept saying. I don't WanNa talk about that. Let's doc kept saying Oh my muscles feel strong. My muscles are like he would. He didn't WanNa talk about it but the guy kept saying I've heard that's true. I've heard that's true. And Houdini finally said yes. ACID is true. I can withstand any punch and he said I'd like to punch you. I'd like to try. This and Houdini started to get up and while he was getting up the guy punched punched in the stomach as many as ten times right it wasn't just one it wasn't just want some guy who basically came in. It looked to me trying to almost assassinate Harry Houdini. It's crazy when you think about it and the craziest part is as you said. He challenged people to anything but there is no evidence at all all that he ever challenged anybody to punch him in the stomach. Like this whole thing might have been but you know at that point. Houdini probably was like. I'm sure at some point. I've challenged people you know. I'm challenged the people and everything else. Why not that? And what's most likely I think is that he was already suffering from appendicitis. That's the most likely scenario. There are those who think the punches themselves caused it. But that's not as likely that he was already suffering from it he was. He was a very stubborn guy he would not go to the Dr and then after he got punched in the stomach he was definitely not going to go to the doctor. He's not GonNa let anybody like all. Some kid was on with the show on with the show and it was on with the show. Oh all the way to Detroit when he collapsed on the stage tried again collapsed again on the stage finally got taken to the hospital and they were able to remove his appendix index and would've saved his life done it earlier but by that point the poison had already seeped into his body and he died five days later on Halloween Halloween. Wean Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Nineteen Twenty six joe my last question about this. I am very very curious as a writer and you were writing about a subject. That is fascinating to you. But it's totally totally out of your Bailey completely. You know year sports writer and you go delve into this bizarre world of magic. So what did you. What did you learn about what you learn about yourself during this process? It's a it's a great question because there's no crossover between magic and sports being sports writer as you know and you've done this fantastic. If you drop a story on me this minute I would would at least know who to call okay. Maybe this person knows this person you build up that I didn't know anybody magic. Nobody literally zero people and and to the point where the David Copperfield. Who who is a prominent part of this thing? I wrote to David Copperfield through the contact US page on on his on his on his website and and all the other options were like. I've lost my ticket or I can't make clicked other other and then asked him if I could come and so I had no way of doing it. But here's what I found out about myself and this is absolutely true. I loved it I so Oh loved being back on the highwire. There's not to say that what we do is is is is easy because it's not but after a while you build up enough sources you build up enough reputation. Maybe and and you can usually sort of get your way in anywhere right here. I was a nobody just a complete. Nobody starting to try to do this story. You've probably the vast majority of people who you talked to didn't know who you know who I was and they and I and it's this kind of book. I needed them to trust me. I didn't just need to talk them. I needed them to trust me so they would tell me things and and I was so much fun I loved it so much which I did not know that comes through in the book through honestly the joy of the task. Yeah it isn't like you write some a lot of times you can tell. The person is doing a workmanlike. Sure job but it you can tell you went to so many weird places places this crazy to talk to people and to try to seek people out in people's lives have been changed in that. I really had a lot of admiration for you about that because because you had to go down so many rabbit holes always you know Joe Pas. Nancy will end with this. You are a clevelander and you had a tweet the other day about how you really want to trust the browns. You really want to trust Freddie Kitchens but oh my God can I do it as an objective human being and I'm not that's not what you tweeted but it's basically that so so at this point halfway through this season that was supposed to be at least borderline playoff season that has resulted. She didn't two wins by Halloween. What do you think I do not think very much of what's going on in Cleveland? I you know I I think i. I've seen you write some stuff like this. It was I believe there was. The expectations did not match what was real. You know I mean there was somebody. I think Yahoo. Who wrote you know? He did like the ten the ten fans the fan groups that are going to suffer the most this year and he did the ten of them and it didn't have the browns in. There had to be the first time in twenty years at the Cleveland..

"aaron jones" Discussed on The MMQB Podcast with Peter King

"Welcome to the Peter King. podcast where this week. We're going to examine some things in an out of the national football league. I sorta Herta got this idea when I was reading a book recently. Called the life and afterlife of Harry Houdini by Joe Poznansky. WHO's a great American sports writer? I'm sure most of you who listen to this will know Joe or know of his great work. Use The two thousand twelve sports writer of the year in the United States. But we had a long conversation about this book because I am totally smitten. I'm totally fascinated with Harry. Houdini and have been for much of my life. And you'll hear that conversation with Joe and a bit but also I have shorter conversations early on just a few minutes with John. Harbaugh the coach of the Baltimore Ravens. I got him right after the Ravens. Thirty seven two twenty victory over the Patriots Sunday in the bowels of MNT Bank Stadium in Baltimore and also a player who this week in my column I believe will be one of the most important players in the second half of this. NFL SEASON NON quarterback division. Dan Aaron Jones running back the Green Bay packers. I talked to Jones last Thursday which obviously does not include the major league that the packers laid at the Los Angeles chargers on Sunday. But I'm just fascinated by the story of Aaron Orrin Jones and we will get to that how he grew up how he was without his parents for awhile. You'll hear that story so three guests this week doc. Baltimore coach John Harbaugh Green Bay running back Aaron Jones and Joe Poznansky the writer of the Harry. Houdini book first a few words about the team. I saw on Sunday night the winning team the Baltimore Ravens. And why when I I look at the modern NFL why. I have so much admiration for the Ravens teams in the. NFL will take. Let's say the New New York giants in quite a few teams. They might go through a dry spell and they might win for awhile contenders for a while. Show up to training camp every year and think. Hey we had a good shot to be playing football in January but and I'll use the giants specifically typically. I guess the giants stuck too long with ally manning and they are paying for it now in the effort to try to continually build and and add players around Eli Manning so that he could contend maybe they bought some mm free agents that now look like poor investments a nate solder. The left tackle right now. They were desperate to get a left tackle. They made him the highest paid left tackle in football and if he watched the Monday night game this week the whole line of the New York giants in the game against Dallas is just a sieve cannot protect cannot block for the running back that they paid so handsomely. For in the two thousand eighteen drafts saquon Barkley. But that's another matter. What what I mean to talk about is what the Baltimore Ravens have done? They didn't wait too long. They didn't wait years in in watching a mediocre Joe FLACCO. who wasn't getting the job done a quarterback they? They waited a couple of years when they were dissatisfied with the production at that position. And what they did is they went out and they drafted Lamar Jackson. Thirty second overall in in two thousand eighteen. There were five quarterbacks picked You know in that round and and clearly now at the time it was Baker. Mayfield Sam Darnold. I love those guys. Are Most people love those guys and there was this coldness around the candidacy ended. AC- and the draft odds of Lamar Jackson. And now you see him after. Thirty one teams passed on him. You see what he's doing. He didn't put up Gaudy numbers Sunday night but he obviously played very very well for the Baltimore Ravens Evens but this is something larger than that the Baltimore Ravens. The reason I admire him is that the ravens are a continuum. It's very hard in the NFL. These days to make sure that you continue to supplementary team and you continue to be good and to me I think it is so interesting the way they have built their team and I talked about this on my earlier. podcast based on Monday this week my FM. I mini pod. Bud when I look at the way that they have used the draft first of all more compensatory picks than any team in football in the last ten years and more draft picks than any team in football in the top six six rounds than any team in football in the last ten years as well that enables team to stay on top when you have all all of those draft picks especially in the higher rounds and they always keep their eye on the prize. They do not worry when win a key player like Cj Moseley leaves because obviously if they lose a great player in free agency. They know what's going to happen. They're going to get criticized publicly. They're going WANNA get criticized in the press. They always have under Ozzie. newsome now the first. GM Eric Decosta. But they don't really care because they understand Dan that first of all we're not paying a guy who we believe is a good player but not nod in ear replaceable player. We're not GONNA pay him so much that we're going to ruin the rest of our team and so. I think that has been sort of a hallmark hallmark of what they have done over time and why I respect them. They don't get married to any single player. They get married. Read the team the team the team. It's so ironic that the head coach of this team. John Harbaugh his brother. Obviously obviously Jim Harbaugh. The coach at the University of Michigan one of the most influential people. In his life was Bo- Sham Boeckler the coach coach of the Michigan Wolverines who coach Jim Harbaugh as a college football player. And that is the famous slogan. That Bo Sham Becker lived by the team. The team the team and I think okay everybody in Baltimore lives by that and I think it's something that for years now that they seemingly have their long term quarterback in Lamar Jackson accent that we're going to see the last thing. I'll I'll tell you that I thought it was really interesting in in the locker room. With Lamar Jackson Jackson. I spend a little time. I sort of staked them out after the game because after his press conference where you know there's a bunch of people there because I was is hoping to get a few words individually so so later mean a couple of other. Writers were standing his weight former and talking informally to them and you could just tell how excited he was and how happy he was and how much he was just into the moment. This wasn't about how great it was. Oh my God. I beat Tom Brady tonight. It wasn't anything to do with that. It was we want a game tonight and hey I'm happy because we won you know there's nothing about me me me and I just walked away from from. There walked out of the locker room that night. And I said man with this quarterback and with this ethos they have on their team. I think they're going to be good for a long long time. Anyway let's get into my first guest. Which is the coach of the Baltimore? Ravens is John Harbaugh and we're going to pick up the conversation. It's only a few minutes. We're picking up the conversation when I talked to him about A. Ah How fun it was to watch. Lamar Jackson go out there and really control the game. Ben Rothlisberger all years and that was the thing that drove me crazy with him he moved around make plays any throw it tomorrow do that too but the fact that you can do with his legs to who is just as it's a it's a great weapon. You know outdoor playing ball long. I'm glad everybody got you as it John. Did you ever think you would have an offense since that so many different things tonight you use some. RPO stuff you almost a couple of times. You know you did wishbone often. I swear you know he pitches it out but.

"Hour number two of the rich Eisen show is on the air we had Kurt Warner pro football hall of Famer join us in the first hour he was making his way back home where he's touching up for a bit before going with me and Mary Eugene Micheal Irvin to London I will be calling the bucks and the Panthers Week six games from Tottenham Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this coming Sunday that's where the raiders just shocked the bears and I'll be calling the pants Thurs who have won three games in a row with Kyle is their backup quarterback now they're starting quarterback taking on a bucks team that Tried to follow up a win here in Los Angeles week four with a week five win in New Orleans but it didn't work out that's a big game for all of us Kurt called last night's game on Westwood one for the forty niners and the and the browns he said if he answered our poll question with with victory for the forty niners Chris two things stand at the top of our number two here on the rich Eisen show go yeah so we're going to who wins the NFC west Kurt Woman Forty niners at twenty nine percent we in the way the twelve or out seahawks fifty seven percent okay and it's a big week coming up this week because the forty niners come here Los Angeles take on the ramp Seattle then goes to Cleveland and We'll see what Cleveland does they're good thing Cleveland doesn't play in the NFC west they've lost to the rams and they've lost the forty niners ear come Seattle Oh boy oy that's what's going on with the browns There is a little bit of news involving Baker Mayfield from last night Richard Sherman said he didn't shake hands but for the game before the Coin Toss and Pat McAfee put out video from the forty niners instagram stories feed it looks like he's dappling everybody up maybe he didn't shake Richard Sherman's hand but Sherman tweeted out that he did not Shaka say okay there you go he's writing checks that unfortunately his play has not yet been able to cash except in Baltimore in terms of writing checks that your play caches my eyebrows were raised a little bit this week when I heard that our next guest said he would go or was able to go yard for yard with Ezekiel Elliott even his own head coach Matt floors like we don't do bulletin would material here and also that's a pretty darn good defense that's on the other side and Dallas and man was that check cashed over and over again I think the I cache so many uh-huh I think he withdrew funds over withdrew funds on that check certainly didn't bounce four touchdowns and a career high one hundred eighty scrimmage yards for guy who we got to meet in studio here this past year and now he's back on the show on the phone Aaron Jones of the Green Bay packers are I'm good thank you for having me Ooh no thanks for coming back again and certainly when you ball out like that as as prime would say you get the call right here from the rich Eisen show for sure why did you say that about being able to go yard for yard with Zeke prior to the game this week Erin I mean as an athlete and a competitor WanNa reporter asks you comes up to your answer do you think you can go yard for yard with this guy as a competitive athlete I am I'm not gonNA say no I believe in myself and I believe abilities and it's not just this week it wasn't just Zeke I WANNA go out there every week to be the best is back on the field and what were you able to do this week that you put it all together asked in a way that we had yet to see over the first month of the season I'll tell you what the blocking unit the Gaza for they did the job they made it easy for me to just around and find lanes and go on touch sometimes and when you can do that it's going to be a good day there's GonNa be a lot of fun out there and what was it like for you terms of fun walk me through the day Oh man it was it was amazing I have my family their coal to thirty people back home and assist so that's the closest they'll get to see me play and just just knew it was gonna be a good day from from the moment I woke up and then game gets kicked off and we get going I get a couple of times early in a GIG on I'm starting to make people miss and I just knew I was in his Donald as about to ask you about being in the zone how does that feel different from other Games it just when you get the ball your hand you're just you're making plays I mean you're making people administered you're just you're you're that playmaker right then in that moment and try to cheat every time I step on the field when you are in the zone does that what causes you to wave goodbye to a defender that's trying to chase you down in the end zone Alan Oh yes definitely I mean you know when you're out there the gang gets chippy. You guys get to talk and usually I'm not a guy who talks trash unless you talk trash to me first so then I don't stop talking after that you're GonNa hear me for the for the game but it was no disrespect to Byron Zone he's a great player just having a little fun in the heat of the moment so are you saying there was a lot of Jones on Jones chatter through the day so no no not not not Jones but I just game in general everybody who who could I mean all right put me down on the field here Erin what were they saying they were a little bit of everything so stuff you can't say on Air Okay it definitely gets chippy I mean your competitors you WanNa win you're out there it's almost like a fistfight you're out there blocking each other get off blogs so chipper GonNa get physical in support of the game now I understand that but I mean how how can anybody start barking at you the way that you got off and continued to just dominate the game Erin I don't know but it it it feels it feels me it keeps it keeps me going just like it's like adding fuel to the fire stuff I mean I'd I'd take Aaron Jones here on the rich Eisen show and again you played your college ball at you tap that's that's why this was a home game for you Ashley right or I know you were born in Savannah I don't know what your Texas history is other than that you went to school there I moved here in seventh grade went to middle school high school and stayed there for college in my family still lives there so because I'm not saying I'm from El Paso those were home is for me from hearted and the people there show me nothing but love love and respect and support a lot of Catholic fans there but here in Jones Fan says well I said you shut a lot of people up do you think I think I did Told my dad I got a little bigger actually go back home now style that's great what would that seventh grader who moved to exists and has been surrounded by cowboys fans his whole life what would that seventh-grader have thought if somebody walked up to you and said hey one day four touchdown on for the packers in the home of the Dallas Cowboys Aaron Jones probably would have said at the time when I was twelve years probably have said now probably score there's some for the cowboys I I love it I'll I'm honored and blessed to be attacker I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else and so now that's all of your kid is definitely journal about scoring four touchdowns against his favorite team growing up so so much has been mentioned Aaron Jones about the packers this year in the offense and Matlock Fluor Being brought in after what we saw with Mike McCarthy for a dozen years you are not therefore those does full for all the dozen years but so much has talked about change of culture has there been a culture change in that locker room you could be it definitely tell the difference in the locker room is is more energy around here is more of a family vied guy guys hanging out way Oram just it's just a whole different energy and I think it starts with coach he came in and just commanded the room and we all bought in and now this is one big family and then and it just it just trickled down in this this show on the food I mean the office makes play they're all celebrating together to defend Mesa play they're all celebrating together we're all happy for each other and that wasn't really the case all the time in previous couple years not that it wasn't it just wasn't stressed as much and you can just tell that this year's just brought the different valid I as one big family I mean I've hung out with so many guys on the team this year that I Patten hung out with last year and when you get that it's like you're playing with fifty three fifty two other brothers next to you you'd do anything for and again I know I might need to take it up with the other Aaron Aaron Jones but on occasion we do see as a family conversation might be it could be called between Aaron Rodgers and matlock floor can you tell me what if I was a flying that wall what it would sound like Aaron just the Them to get the best that they can do we wanNA score every every chance when you have a great quarterback like we have the ability to score every place so it was just them communicate and trying to get to the right call what they've seen on that play so that's what that's what I'm hearing okay yeah because I saw there was one towards the middle the game last week in Toronto Mollison was just staring straight ahead like he wasn't he didn't want to seem to be wanting any part of that conversation you know but we know we have aided heated conversations here every now and then but then we've just because we just WanNa put the best the best show together you know Oh yes sir it's all about being the best you know so okay so now it comes down to it can you go yard for yard with Kerryon Johnson Eric I'm not just carry on but Eddie back in the league I'm I'm one of those back so I also against any back I love that see I was trying to just get you to do something for just the Monday night game but when it all comes down to I know you have to speak it into existence you have to believe it and there's so many you know this is a key and how are you feeling that there's more plays being called for you now in that regard last week they call you you're an issue number okay lock you go to work beat a playmaker when it all comes down to it Aaron Jones you had a huge game man and the appreciate you calling into this show you're always have a spotter you don't have to score four touchdowns every time but I'd love to check back in with you later on this season that has started out just dynamite for team and then obviously this past week for you so definitely I would love to come back on hopefully it's after another four touchdown game well I mean how about a five one I mean by the way I am definitely cool with fog I do have to have full disclosure here or caring now third disclosure here's full disclosure my fantasy team stinks I mean it blows it really it just it's terrible I'm Owen for coming into this week and it couldn't it couldn't have I couldn't what have needed a win any more than I needed it this.

Who is more important to the Dallas Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott or DeMarcus Lawrence?

"Would you say is more important to the success of the dallas cowboys ezekiel elliott demarcus lawrence simple question well. I would say this is zeke elliott but for reasons that aren't as apparent. He had seventy seven catches ashes. He's a factor in their passing and we we agree. Zeke light is more valuable to the dallas cowboys and demarcus lawrence marcus lawrence pete over twenty million dollars. A year out of context is everything zeke. Elliott has two more years on his contract. He has no place to go. They could franchise him after that so that is a big look. He's really important but where else this is he gonna go. He has two years remaining. That's what makes it hard and it's not just the two years remaining the to franchise tag after that third franchise tag if they wanted so you could make the argument that dallas controls zeke's rights for five more seasons and get ice about until he decides through the collateral damage and all of this is the play the teammate you sitting there you you know nancy. We had the preseason bahamas. You're now. Everybody's focus week. One game plan in for the giants here. We're planning for the giants. We're getting ready for a divisional opponent and our best player has named reported. You know how much of a down of that is going into the the season will all everyone has all this optimism because everyone's owino right every it's a clean slate for everyone. You had a data zeke elliott. There hasn't ed's reporting and damian from a player's perspective. Here's the other thing anybody could get zeke elliott signed. That's the easy part. The context is dot prescott amari cooper byron aaron jones and starring see so you want your teammate in there but in the back of your mind as veteran. You're like wait a second. How much of the pies left for me so you have to really artful in terms of saying well. I got to be able to get jailing smith signing because he can't leave the marcus lawrence of good pass rusher but i gotta leave enough money for these other players because the starting quarterback he can't go anywhere. He may not happy elite but they've won. A lot of games with the sky is one. We'll say mike and i'm sorry but this is the dallas cowboys for for building team around zeke elliot. You look out of the dallas. Cowboys are constructed. They are like one of the few teams that their bill ronald running back. Okay so dallas cowboys put themselves in this position right now and now they're paying the piper because zeke elliott zeke elliott has perform and then maybe the top running back in the national football. He sees what the future is running running back position and he's sitting there saying i'm not i need it. I need to withhold services right now if i don't do it right now. I'm never going to get paid like like the other top running back. You're the best argument you can make for zeke elliott. They were fifth in the n._f._l. Last year and time of possession translate look at their defense. They were top five defense because they were never on the field. There were twenty two point scored but zeke elliott kept the their defense off the field bottom line. What's the eleventh-hour in this. I think that once you get to next week next week we get past monday or so monday or tuesday not complete the opener which again juries now bracing for an expecting and i think the problem with this situation with melvin gordon the longer it goes on the more things are said the more issues pop up we already heard jerry jones one say zeke coup which basically insulted zeke as agent so these things going. You never expected last year. After a couple of weeks. Steelers offensive lineman would be critical levian bell and they were and that inflamed the situation association and led to hurt feelings and eventually led to levy on bell sitting out the year so once you get this far into the game and they're so many sides with so much at stake everything is very personal sensitive and it's very risk but there there's a big distinguishment here. Fear does the work of reason. Maybe i'm bell was a free agent. J._v. soundcloud can be free agent. Zeke elliott's going anywhere at some point. He has to be reasonable because if he wants to play football is going to be all you with that but what i would say to you there is this in the next time zeke elliott steps on the football field he has he's not gonna be out there until he gets new contract when it gets a new contract what's the guarantees on that you tell me why would he stepped foot on fulfill. Find me take who am i sell it. I'm not stepping foot on a football field until i have my thirty forty whatever the number raising guaranteed millions of dollars and i'm not risking myself getting an a._c._l. Injury were some kind of career threatening injury. That would damage value. You keep your three point eight million dollars dollars this year. You keep defines. They come with that. We'll see how it goes if i'm sitting out the season and not playing and there are questions every day season to sabotage and if i'm jerry jones is stephen stephen jones. I'm betting on my offense align. I'm betting on good quarterback. I'm getting on the return of jason witten and every game i win. I'm more voted in my position and that's how why this whole thing is gonna implant and i've been in that situation. I'm like boy. We hold up without the role rears omnitel his agent we can but that's what kept me up at night and that's really where the cowboys are can only pollard pass protect. I promise you the first time that he gives up a sack. That's gonna put more money in zeke. Elliott's pocket and that's why i said at the beginning zeke elliott is right. The dallas cowboys right. Both sides are right now. The question is figuring out a solution that works for everybody that helps them save their season and help zeke. They don't either talk about it again on monday today to announce they are inactive ninety minutes before kick-off. I'm saying the eleventh hours like ninety one minutes as long as as long as he can get sign on that day on sunday before kick-off saturday four o'clock right he'd have to be in a roster exempt. It's a great point susan because they could get roster exemption so maybe they could sign him. He could work out for a couple of days but it'd be saturday and then as you're limit though

"Aaron Jones. And this is where the Packers had some pretty good success. Michael that opening drive getting Jones running between the tackles, you read my mind. I think if they commit a little bit to the run game L, baron Rogers big picture in the second half. Aaron Jones is average in six yards. A carry on the season and played extremely well. Five carries twenty three yards tonight toss played a Jo- of walkers at Fatah's. He goes down the left side mount across the. Thirty five and spins down to the thirty nine yard line. That's a thirteen yard pick up the first down failing. Yes, sir. You really went failing. I did. Can you spell it? P A L. I just wanted to make sure you could spell a word you use. I've got them all written out in front of me. I've got this whole game script. You think I'm doing this ad lib? Says here it says here it's first and ten at the thirty nine yard line for the Packers vice grip. What are they gonna do believe they're gonna send? Yup. Valdez motions to the slot left side of the give right up the middle to Jones as predicted bounces off a tackler at the forty tries to go away. From those guys drives his likes forward road extra yard, maybe two to the forty two. That's pretty good work by Jones didn't get much, but he got more than it looked like as they'll put it in between the forty one and forty two yard lines. Nice job the point of attack by Chianti Davis. He doesn't get credit for the tackle. But he bounced in. Jones will get some congratulations. As will get a breather of the sideline Jamal Williams in now for Green Bay, how big a differences there when they switched those two running backs, you know, not all that much. I like a boat and they were both drafted a year ago. They drafted three running back from the same draft class and Aaron Jones Jamal Williams have come to the top of that class. Get a lot of carries. Both very talented young back Rogers in the gun. He's got Williams to his left drops to throw on second pressure. Come back side Rogers twists away Rogers throws on the run right to the sideline. Williams has the patriot forty five at Williams ushered out of bounds by Kyle van noy at the New England forty three yard line the mobility of Aaron Rodgers bought time sixteen I in the quick release most quarterbacks when they're going to they're left have trouble getting the ball out quickly because you have to square your shoulders, and I've never.
