Reporters say that they expect 'em pj to get extended at some point or e seems to be the team's future plans. What do you think of that court floor in denver. Do you think they're title contender. I think the reality is that the nuggets have done everything right like they literally have done the team building. They've they've got the second round. See yokich tournaments an emmy. They have done nothing on almost nothing wrong. I would say and so. It's hard to criticize them. But when you look at the reality of the landscape and what teams look like. I just don't see how this team is more than perhaps a conference finals. It's hard for me to see that because obviously we don't know what your mom. Mary's can look like that's a big question. "Aaron gordon signs extension with the denver nuggets four years ninety two million player option on the last year seems like a pretty reasonable deal especially after the trade for last season definitely. Soak up some of the minutes. That jamal murray might have been vacating here early. Some of the responsibilities on the offensive end up my question. I think is the question that we always come down to with denver. They seem to be putting themselves in a dicey proposition as far as the luxury tax and fitting all these contracts and because one michael junior is also do an extension for next Robert worried at all about denver long term. Because they've talked a lot about being willing to pay the tax but they never actually done it. That's the big question right like if this is an announcement that the nuggets are playing in the big leagues. This is historically a franchise. It's taking care of their guys in terms of the draft. They develop a sign. Those guys to extensions as quickly as possible if this is a model where they're also paying the aaron gordon's of the world on top of that there really racking up that salary number this is what the real contenders do and the nuggets are in a position over the next couple of years if they want to be in that category and jamal jamal. Murray's recovery you know is on pace and as expected they're going to be in that group they deserve to be spending this much money to have a competitive team so remains to be seen. When the bill comes due are they going to be paying it or will they be pat. You know trading out of guys dishing salary trying to cut wherever they can. We'll have to wait. And see. But i think i think it speaks to at least a certain at least suggests that they might be willing to do that in a way that they weren't previously we don't tend to think of denver as the biggest cheapskates in the league but kind of are like outside of probably charlotte because he had mike is like hi dan but like outside of charlotte. We're going to be one of the top teams in the west and so therefore we pay are probably in the scenario fourth best player twenty three twenty four million dollars a year. Because i thought about the clippers is option if he were to get bought out. I honestly couldn't come up with a single team. Who would actively trade for john wall on his contract. Which for the record is two years point. One seven million dollars The second year is a player option. He will most likely be taking that player option. And so like. Why do you think that fit makes sense. Like if you're just giving up like guys who are essential to the title-winning product with lsd. You like him in on team as a hope of course because john walls back in his heyday you know when he was leading the league in corner. "This year, so if we remember, he came in on that contract that was a declining contract previous the one he signed with the magic. And he's probably outplayed it a little bit. At number feels a little big to me. I think about 20 million average annual value was what I had pegged for Gordon because you've already got jokic night so when reminder, this kicks in next season, this is not this year. So next year, when this kicks in, you'll have him at about 20 ish million. You'll have jokic at 33.6 tomorrow Mario 31.6. And I'm going to guess Michael Porter junior is going to be on the full max right around 29.7. And then you've got will Barton at 14.4 in Monte Morris at 9.1. That is an extremely expensive team. Now you've got your top 5 in your 6th man locked up. So you're not in a bad spot necessarily. If you're the nuggets, but yeah, if you believe in what happened after they traded for Gordon, when Maury was still healthy in that, that stretch, you can see why they did this because Denver looked like they might have been a title contender. If you are a little more skeptical on Aaron Gordon, then you start to think, boy, that's an awful lot of money to lock up for him. But I guess if you're Denver, you're looking at his look, we don't want to run the risk of losing this guy. I'm not exactly sure who the suitors would have been. This off season. It's not a great summer for cap space teams. Not a great summer to be a free agent, but you'd rather not mess around if you can get the guy locked in and what you feel is a pretty fair number. Get it done and keep this thing moving forward. Yeah, I mean, this isn't that far off from like, say what Lonzo Ball got or something. So I'm totally fine with Aaron Gordon getting this number because like you said, I think he does bring a piece that can take the nuggets to another level. And if you buy into what they did right before Jamal Murray got hurt, they looked like the team that was going to come out of the Western Conference. Now, again, there is that big qualifier there that we don't know for sure that that was going to be sustainable or not Denver clearly thinks that it was, but you also have the rating MVP. And so you've got to do everything you can to maximize that window to win to win right now. And you can say, look, even the MVP, right? Injury probably impacted that. "It's the contract that really complicates things here for his situation. So it'll be interesting to see how the Houston Rockets do handle this. It is a bit ironic. I mean, they go from Chris Paul to Russell Westbrook tonight and John wall and here we are. But it is good to hear that is an amicable situation. It says John wall demanding out. This is both sides came together and said, look, this is the reality of this situation. Let's work together and let's see what we can find. And so that's where now John wall's agency, they can go around to teams around the NBA and they can openly talk like, hey, what are you, what can you guys offer? What can we create here and they don't have to do anything secret behind closed doors because both sides are on the same page. And I think that does help the process. Yeah, for sure. Now, for the rocket side, without John wall playing, opens the path, Kevin Porter junior at much like he was after he got traded there is going to be the starting point guard for the Houston Rockets going into next season. My guess is they might bring Jalen green on along a little slowly. Maybe Eric Gordon starts initially, but my guess is by the holidays, it's Kevin Porter junior and Jalen green are playing all the meaningful minutes in that rockets backcourt and then the vets like Gordon DJ Augustine, David dewa, those guys are just going to be filling in here and there for those guys back up minutes. At this point, they're still trying to move Eric Gordon. We know that. That's been going on for months now that that's been rumored. So we'll see. But yeah, Kevin Porter junior, he wasn't bad. It's going to be bumpy at times, so it was, but why not you're not a good team, you might as well see if you can turn them into a point guard because if you can, you have an infinitely more valuable player than just an off ball wing player, which Porter probably is never going to shoot it enough to give you a ton of value there, but as an on ball guy, you might have something there..

We've got some NBA news to dive into today involving high profile names we're talking John wall and Aaron Gordon, but first, Keith, did you see the hawkeye trailer? Oh my gosh, I meant to talk about it on yesterday's show. And somehow it slipped my mind. It's die hard with a bow and arrow. I love it. Sign me up. I love it. So we'll be able to watch hawkeye, probably one of the turkeys cooking and enjoy just a nice day of marvel and then some football food and family and all that good stuff. Gonna be a good time. I will say this. And I promise we will get to our NBA basketball stuff, but Jeremy Renner plays hawkeye. And my daughter, year or so ago, she was four, maybe she was still three at the time, but but she was pronouncing hawkeye as hot guy, like HOT. Nice. Guy, and my wife did not correct her. I don't know how to feel about that right now, but in any event, I'm sure that she'll watch that marvel series with lane household. Yeah. It was amazing. I love it. "You've played. You were an all star this season but like those you know the pull up. Mid range jumpers that. You're just taking like six a game. Let style those back and turn them into spot up threes. That are set up by kemba setup by tatum. I think that'll help our offense and that has helped boston's offense and if you just look like yeah tatum's usage has been going up. His efficiency has been going. He's taking more threes fewer of those contested frustrating twos. I do think that one of the variables for him for sure and variable is really a light term but having cove in the middle of the season and it actually impacting him I think that that cannot be overlooked. But one of the things that i wanted to talk about with kemba. Which kind of ties into this tatum. Conversation is if you look at the month by month. Usage rates for kemba walker and the month by month offensive rating kemba walker every month. His usage rate has gone down. Yes good let me guess. Less is more than i. Can i spoil this. And every month his offensive rating has gone up And so. I don't think that that is a coincidence. I think that You know trying to kemp is just not hitting shots. That he hit last season are the shots that he absolutely needs to hit to come. Close to justifying a max contract and so when you have him yeah less is more as a way to maybe a little crude. This is bringing me back to like algebra. You remember like as x approaches zero widen approaches infinity. Do you remember that at all. Where like you get the little curve just like taking off so like i think if kemba never shoots. Boston will score every possession if we continue this trend going forward. Maybe one of the dorkiest things i've ever said on this podcast but i know there's a few math guys out there that are with me and i actually think it's true. Of course you know. Give him ten shots again right. That's all we really need from campbell. And i actually think cutting has minutes. It's a smart play to okay. i don't need to you know. Be that critical of kemba. Think that he's he's very good and very important. It's just like the pull up. Twos that were a staple of his game for basically his entire career have been like atrocious. Long he just never been able to find it and so the way. He's drifted away from that. Shot has been just a boon for boston's offense when his on the floor. And i do think that you know. His great value is as someone who's like super speedy super zippy can get into the paint and then find shooters like the fact that they have forty eight. They have tatum. they have jalen. They have really good outset shooters now who are reliable. Kemba the playmaker. I think might be what is. Destiny is in the best version of himself on this year's team so them trying to find that and find that balance a little bit more as the season's gone on has been good for them. I mean look the point on the jumper. I mean it's ugly. Michael forty two percent from ten to sixteen feet. That's down from forty seven percent last year..

"All right. Get into a little bit of basketball here. Aaron gordon the big acquisition at the deadline for the denver nuggets made his debut sunday verse. The hawks a solid debut might look the line and say thirteen points on six of nine shooting. That is exactly what the nuggets want. He played really well off to coca shed a beautiful dunk on the baseline. This is what they want him to be. They want him to be a cutter playing with better players for the first time in his career. I think that he does have like that aggressiveness like that presence that we always are saying like, why doesn't Jalen Drive why isn't Tatum Drive why don't these guys drive and create contact and you know, get to know that stuff off. Well, and I think you know you guys already mentioned it like allows them to do a couple of different things on defense wage. You gotta give me more than frankly than you're giving away and to Bobby's point games are probably going to have to give them three or four pics to get John Collins, even if those pics suck even if those pics are like six hours that are unprotected or or some type of you know mechanisms by which they can get asked is whether they can prove you have the option of flipping pigs have to get something that is bigger grander and greater than what you could have got done with them like maybe three four weeks ago, but it's a good thing too. Washington DC chefs band together to create new ‘ghost’ restaurant due to pandemic
"On how restaurants are finding new ways to adapt to survive during this pandemic in DC is Global Park neighborhood. What used to be a popular restaurant and bar has been gutted. We turned our entire biggest dining room of the former restaurant and turn into a giant bakery. Aaron Gordon is the owner of Ghost Line. Which took this old restaurant space on Wisconsin Avenue and turned it into several many restaurants. There is outdoor seating, but most customers either order take out or delivery.
