"For that starting job. Well, I think baker has played his last game as a brown. So I don't even think this is about competition. I think that he's just toast. In part because I think the browns are ready to move on and in part because I think he wants a change of scenery, which I think you'll see that take place here. Over the course of the next couple of weeks. So then the browns have to come up with a better answer. And my guess is guys, it'll come from one or two places. Now, the draft thing is really dicey this year. The browns could end up with a top ten pick, but there are no top ten quarterbacks in this draft, I don't think. So then, you know, can you get in for Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson? I'm sure Aaron Rodgers was watching that game last night thinking, wow, I really want to go to Cleveland. While he was with Peyton and Eli. And I think what's most likely is there's a second tier of guys that come available in the Derek Carr Matt Ryan conversation. And I would bet on one of those guys being the starting quarterback of the browns next year. Going to be a very interesting 2022 already for the Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield. Will not start this coming weekend against the bangles. We'll likely have that surgery on that now I'm throwing shoulder and I'm sure Aaron goldhammer and company over at ESPN Cleveland will have plenty to talk about. Aaron, we appreciate the time as always my friend. We'll talk to you soon. You know, if you think that cookie and Mayo is gross, go Joe. I once had to eat horse manure when the browns drafted baker, so there's nothing worse than that. Aaron, I did want to bring that up, like when you watched me eat the mayonnaise this weekend where you think amateur? I was proud of you. I was proud of you. And I want everybody to know, the highlight of both season used to be the granddaddy of them all, the rose bowl, now I think the duke's Mayo bowl is the best bowl there is. Aaron, I didn't say it. You said it, but I wholeheartedly agree with you on that one. We are here to spread the duke's Mayo bowl propaganda to anyone and everyone who will listen. Take that Australia and Dionne Warwick out here hating right now. Hammer will talk to you soon, all right buddy. Take care, guys. Thank you. Aaron goldhammer from ESPN Cleveland, who, yes, did one time have to eat horse manure after losing. I forget what bet he even lost, but Chris, that's probably where I draw the line just as a human being, but I respect him for having no boundaries and understanding content rules. Yeah, I think he just told us, though, it was Baker Mayfield being drafted first overall by the Cleveland Browns. I think that was the best ultimately ended up losing. And so I don't know go Jo, I'm usually a man of my word, but when it comes to something like that, paying off that bet, let me tell you what I ain't gonna do. Chris, he fought it like the plague. We had to track him down on this one. It was basically our mission ordained by God to make sure that that man ate poop. Yeah. It's hard to trust anything coming out of that mouth. That is for damn sure. Even though we'd like you to trust it because man, he just said the Baker Mayfield played his last snap at the top. How about that? That was one right there that I was shocked. I didn't believe that he was so convicted in saying that Baker Mayfield took his last act as a Cleveland Brown. That is a shocker. Very interesting that he said, he thinks you'll see that desire for a change of scenery start to bear out here over the coming months, which begs the question, which team out there in the NFL, if you are an NFL team who's going to need a quarterback this off season. "I'm Christine lacy, here's what's happening, brown's quarterback Baker Mayfield moving forward with surgery to repair the torn labrum in his non throwing shoulder, he won't play in the regular season finale against the Bengals on Sunday, could add the surgery as soon as this week Mayfield under contract with Cleveland through the 2022 season and bringing him back this fall is the right call by the browns in the opinion of ESPN's Jeff Saturday. You kind of got to stay with the guy unless you can upgrade right now. Stick with him. He's been up and down, but he has one playoff games. He has taken you there and he was injured since week two. Maybe you give him one more run at it with that money and maybe sign him to a longer term deal that's smaller in money that could benefit you in other areas of your football team. Canty, Angola junior, some newsperson, some writer in Australia, put up an article with the headline. Commentators disgusting on air act. Proves that the United States is beyond saving. Like I'm the reason great headline. That is just an objective headline. He sort of nailed that one here. The new post is somewhere even applauding that one. But the second one I was not expecting in addition to again an entire nation of really an entire continent of people in Australia, which, by the way, you guys eat Vegemite. Like, let's have a real conversation about throwing stones from glass houses here. Of all the things that have happened in the last two years, that moment is what they felt like was where the United States is clearly gone wrong. Canty and bullet junior. I can't even go to junior on ESPN radio and ESPN+ we're presented by Progressive Insurance. We've been having the conversation all show long off of the Monday night meltdown about Baker Mayfield and whether or not he's the long-term answer for the Cleveland Browns. We want you to chime in on the Dr Pepper call in line, the number is 8 and 8 say ESPN that's 8 8 7 two 9 three 7 7 6, but gojo right now, we got to go out to the Goodyear hotline and bring on ESPN Cleveland's very own Aaron goldhammer and Aaron. I guess I gotta ask the question, what's the sentiment of the fan base as far as Baker Mayfield is concerned and whether or not he's the long-term answer for the browns at quarterback? Well, this is complicated. You know, back before the season started, guys, browns fans wanted to give baker and Emily Mayfield their own money to stay in Cleveland. They wanted to pull up their own brinks trucks and dump the cash on their front lawn. The browns did not give him the contract extension. They wanted to see more. Weak over week over week. As baker's play has continued to descend, and now I think he's in the conversation most disappointing player worst quarterback in the league this year. He submarine the brown season. I mean, really, with average quarterback play, they'd have won this division. I think now the majority of fans, I don't mean to speak for everybody, but I think the majority of fans feel like, yeah, last night might have been the last time you ever see Baker Mayfield in the browns uniform. Aaron, how much of that falls on Kevin Stefanski for not making a change in that position if this is the way it had been trending for so long? This is complicated and a lot, I think. I don't understand what Kevin's to fans he was doing this year. If baker was really that injured, then he shouldn't have been playing and maybe then case Keenum, who's a serviceable backup and took the Vikings to the NFC championship game a couple of years ago. Could have done something with the browns and then baker would be in a much better position than where he is now. If Mayfield really isn't that hurt and this is all just a narrative to try to put him in a better light, then obviously we know what the browns think of them. But what I don't get guys, he played pretty well last year. Like we know this guy doesn't totally stink. We know he's not a giant bust. We know he's better than Sam darnold, right? So what went wrong between last year and this year, the injury is the thing you have to point to most predominantly. Aaron, one of the things that was a little bit of an eyebrow razor for me was in the wake of the OBJ situation in him ultimately being released by the team. You heard opinions from players in that locker room that felt the way about the organization moving on from OBJ inciting with Baker Mayfield. So I just, I want to know where the locker room is in terms of Baker Mayfield being their guy moving forward. I think this was complicated already because baker does so many commercials. You know, and he's so popular. And he makes so much money off the field, and he's got such an abrasive personality at times. That I always think his locker room dynamic has been complicated. But going toe to toe with Odell, I mean, baker has admitted this in interviews. He keeps referring to fixing, distractions inside and outside of the building. And my guess is, you know, if you ask the browns wide receiving core, what they think of Baker Mayfield or the offensive line, if you got them over a couple beers or the defense that is played much better in the last 5 or 6 weeks. I'm not sure it would be such a pretty picture. One other thing I want to mention here, you know, Jarvis Landry is one of the browns team leaders. He gave that contagious speech a few years ago on hard knocks and one of the guys that really helped change the culture. He used to speak to the media every single week during the season. And so Dell was let go, and remember Jarvis and Odell are good friends going all the way back to Baton Rouge and LSU. He is not spoken to the local media here in a browns capacity one time. And I think by not speaking, he's telling you a lot. Ken angle of junior here on ESPN radio talking to Aaron goldhammer from ESPN Cleveland on the Goodyear hotline, Aaron, how much of this is exacerbated by the success you guys are watching the Cincinnati Bengals have with Joe burrow this season. Yeah, it hurts. The browns had the number one pick in the draft. And they took a 5 11 kid from a spread offense. And the Bengals had the number one pick in the draft and they took a 6 four strapping quarterback who grew up in Athens, Ohio, to be their guy. So it's not just burrow. It's also like what kind of quarterback has been successful in this division before. Let's set Lamar Jackson ascites one of a kind. You're never going to find anybody who's in any way like him. But, you know, Ben Roethlisberger is from Ohio, right? He's big. He can take the pounding of the AFC north. And so yes, do I think brown's fans have jealousy of what's going on in Cincinnati? Absolutely. The Bengals this year are the browns from last year. They've caught lightning in a bottle. Their offense has gotten hot. And they're a fun team to watch. The browns are on watchable. Guys, I don't know about you that game felt like it took about 7 and a half hours. Did you stay up and watch the end of that be honest? Was your TV on ESPN at the end of that game? I was on ESPN2 because I was watching the man in cash. I was interested to see how they handled the Aaron Rodgers interview. I wasn't watching it for the entertainment value from the game. Night one of the bachelor's new season was on the rose ceremony going on at the same time. It's a big deal. Spending this thing forward in 2022, what are the Cleveland Browns going to do at the quarterback position? We know Baker Mayfield has had surgery that they bring in some competition for baker

"The Packers making their final preparations to take on the Saints in Jacksonville on Sunday. Kick off set 43 25 Indian baseball the Brewers in Cleveland, starting a three game weekend series against the Indians. Tonight Coverage here on WTMJ this evening starts at 5 35. The Milwaukee Brewers are celebrating Bob you curs 50th season in the booth during the last home stand up this season before the playoffs begin. Now we all know in the state of Wisconsin and here at WTMJ with Bob Bucher means to us. He's a civic treasure, and we cherish it each and every time he sits behind the MIC to college Brewers baseball game. But is there another fan base that appreciates him just as much joining us now from ESPN, 8, 50, w. K and R in Cleveland, he's a host out there he is. Aaron Goldhammer. So Erin the Brewers are in Cleveland tonight, two cities that are forever intertwined because of the major league movie series And because of Bob you cruise role as Harry Doyle. What do you think it is about? You can we obviously know in Milwaukee and then the state of Wisconsin? What makes him so special behind the mic? But what do you think it was about? You can those movies that made him resonate outside of our state lines here in Wisconsin? Well, look, I think he's resonated in Cleveland, because I think it feels like he's actually calling the game in this sort of sarcastic way that embodying how the fans felt about the Indians for so long. But I think it's important for people to remember when that movie came out, Brian that the biggest game that the Indians had ever played in Pedro Cerrano. It hit a home run. And if wild thing Vaughn came out of the bullpen to pitch You know, so fans would cry watching that because in most of their lifetimes the Indians had never really played of meaning. Forget, Um, And so I think it was really this perfect storm of Them having struggled for so long, And then the Indians got good sort of right after the movie came out that you could just sort of became the voice of this exciting new era where the team would be relevant and cool and not the doormat of the American League. Is the staying power of the movie and of his performance. Still there even post Cleveland Championship. Yes, definitely. I mean, if you're doing a Cleveland sports talk radio show, and you don't play just a bit outside. You know you're not doing it right? And I think that That movie in the organization are synonymous and one of the things everybody talked about Brian when the name change went through, and obviously the team is going to be known as the Guardians moving forward, starting in 2022. Is that that incredible relationship between the movie and the team will feel a little bit more distant because the name is going to be different. And I remember, you know, Game seven of the World Series against the Cubs in 2000 and 16. Everybody wanted Charlie Sheen on the bound to throw out the first pitch. And if Sheen wasn't available, I mean, Yuk would have gotten one of the biggest standing ovations in the history of Cleveland if he had shown up that night on that mountain. Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN 8 50, W. K and R in Cleveland with us as a part of brewer's 3 60 this morning on WTMJ, Erin. It's hard not to draw parallels between the summer you guys had in Cleveland in 2016, and what's going on here in Milwaukee in 2021, with the box winning the championship in the Brewers, seemingly having this season of destiny. What do you remember most about? Not necessarily this summer. I think that's an easy answer from a Cavaliers perspective. But what do you remember about that fall that maybe Milwaukee sports fans can take away from the Cleveland sports experience. Yes, well, the Indians had about seven major injuries going into the playoffs, and what I remember the most is that we had completely written them off. They played the Red Sox in the divisional round. We assumed Boston with sweets. And then the Indians somehow won Game one, and then they want Game two, and then they pulled off a sweep. And you come to realize that the baseball playoffs are about momentum and who's hot, who's lucky at the right time. And that was them through the first, like 2.5 rounds. That's right. You know, they smoked the Blue Jays, the LCS and they got 31 lead on the cuts. We thought they were just going to cruise to a championship and then obviously At the worst time, their their luck ran out, but I remember how unexpected it was. So it was a lesson in just get in and anything happens. Hopefully, we get to hear Bob. You could call the World Series Championship and see if the Brewers can close. The deal. Unlike Cleveland, was able to do Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN Cleveland, thanks so much for the time and appreciate it. You gotta get brewers 3 60, sponsored by injuries. "Up. We're gonna be sending somebody to Jacksonville, Florida see the Packers and the Saints. Who would have thought that this game is going to wind up there. But that's what hurricane ID it into the big, easy to the point where the game had to physically be picked up and moved. To a completely different venue and be interesting to see who is going to be there in the seats. Who's gonna have the home field advantage, But we're doing our part with West Bend the silver lining in WTMJ, sending to fans very shortly to that game Sunday. Pre game starts at noon with that man there, Brian D. Yes, Opening drive starts at noon. Very excited to get the season underway in a big way in your right team. We're doing our part. Big thanks to our friends in West Bend the silver lining for making it happen all season long, hooking people up with these amazing trips all around the country and to Lambeau Field for the home games as well. 20 years it's been going on even last year when we had covid to deal with. We worked around it. But now it's back in its original incarnation, the one that we really enjoy this actual sending of fans to the venue that the game is being played at Brewer's 3 60 coming up next, a little bit of a twist this time a little twist. Normally we have good buddies that cover the team are on the air jumping in to give us kind of where The Brewers stand, and obviously things are pretty uneventful for the Brewers. Right now. They're just coming along with in series with the post season on the horizon, hopefully and Magic number down to 10 Division championship hopefully going to happen here sooner rather than later today that we're going to chat with our teammates from our sister station, ESPN Cleveland Aaron Goldhammer. "Cowboys seven seconds left. Good staff. The spot. Here's the kick by sucker. Is it good? It is wf us in Tampa on the call. There. The Buccaneers kick a 36 yard field goal with less than 10. Seconds to play. They survived against the Cowboys. Final score. 31 to 29. What else did you expect? Tom Brady leading a game winning drive Cowboys kick that field goal to go ahead with Buck 30 left in the game? Yeah. 90 seconds. Yeah, they gave more that they can handle and I've actually got more in that game coming up an extra points at 7 45 this morning of high stuff. Tampa Bay. Even if they they they played one of their worst games last night and still find a way to win. So how could you pick against them when they played their best game? It's going to be a tricky thing to do all season long couple other notes here. Other games happening in the NFL this weekend, especially around the NFC North Vikings visiting the Bengals, Lions hosting the Niners and the Bears visiting the Rams. And finally in baseball. The Brewers there in Cleveland tonight, starting a three game weekend series against the Indians. Not much to complain about right now for president of baseball operations. David Sir, It's been a really nice stretch for us. We're Just finishing up a 16 game. Stretch with no off days, which this time of year is pretty challenging, and Passing on a group and to come out of that. With a good run and increasingly in division. We're certainly pleased with how we're playing coverage of tonight's game here on WTMJ starts at 5 35. And then later this morning Jean in Brewer's 3 60. We're going to chat with one of our teammates from ESPN. Cleveland about what Bob Bucher means to that city and that fan base because we know what you can means to us here in the state of Wisconsin uses civic treasure, right? We understand that and we're so fortunate to have him behind the mic. "I think any and all criticism is going to be completely justified if they can't Turn things around, and it starts by winning a couple more games. This Red Sox series. Well, they are over 500. But who do you think scored more runs this year? Courtney, the Seattle Mariners or the New York Yankees. I'm gonna go with Seattle. Seattle has scored. 222 runs the Yankees 215. The Yankees have only played one fewer game. Who do you think scored more? The Kansas City Royals or the New York Yankees? The Royals are rebuilding most people listening to this right now they're awful. I watched them last week. When I bought my $89 sweatshirt. They can't name one Royal, who scored more runs. Kourtney. The Royals are the Yankees. I'm going to go with the Kansas City Royals. The Kansas City Royals have scored 248 runs the Yankees have scored 215 runs. The Mets are the worst offensive team in baseball 182 runs. Part of that is they've had so many rainouts, so they've played fewer games. But the Yankees are 25th in baseball in runs scored this year. With that offense and that payroll and Stanton and Torrez and Sanchez and the stars they have on that team. It's unacceptable and it's not going to continue. Have scored. 215 runs so far on the season straight ahead. We spoke about a big loss at Roland Garros, but the big stars are showing up at the French Open. We discussed. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. Now when I was growing up this was years ago Old man back in the eighties, You know, she worked two jobs, and I played Little League baseball, football basketball and she got me to all my practices and games. Well, one particular baseball game. He was asked on pile 1st and 2nd base. Okay, so I hit the crap out of the ball and over the right field, his head and I'm running around the bases and my mother is following me from 1st 2nd 3rd home. Just good boy. So but go now, we'll never figured that That was 40 years ago. I will never forget that. That was just awesome. That is awesome. Mom. She loved you. Oh, my gosh. Thank you, Scott. Private time on ESPN radio. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Rose gold on what they were asking you. How did your mom shape your love of sports? Nicky is in Indiana's on ESPN radio. Hi, Nikki. Hi. Um, I grew up in Indiana and my mom. Huge fan of Indiana basketball. I remember when I was a kid. I didn't quite understand what was going on on the TV. So I play in the kitchen with my toys. And then whenever I hear screaming, I run in the living room, and they were hollering at the TVs, the IU basketball and, you know, kind of fast forward to when my son was in high school sports. I And remember being at one of his games for they were playing JV and the parents section was hollering so loud that they officials through a flowered basically on on us. Give us a sideline. Morning. Tell us to be quiet, so, but, yeah, big big fans of Indiana basketball. We own a sports bar and A lot of fun, Nicky, thanks for the call. And thanks for sharing your story realized Ross as you hear these stories, like so much of our love of sports, and so much of what we care about comes from our family and comes from our parents. I can remember. My mom is a huge tennis fan. In a good tennis player. And when I was a kid Australian Open She would wake up in the middle of the night like she would set her alarm at two a.m. to get out of bed and go downstairs to watch the Australian Open happen Live. Because it just wasn't the same tow. Watch it on tape delay on ESPN two or whatever the next day like that's Yes, she's a serious fan. That's right. And you know she. Her mood that day, you know, would be dictated by whether Rafa Nadal or Andre Agassi, whoever she liked, had won or lost. I I unfortunately kind of carried that in too. Especially when I was a little kid. I you know, maybe the games were a little bit. Maybe the games were a little bit too important. Triple eight, say ESPN 887293776. That's 88 say ESPN. Roger. You 100% sure that Nicola Yokich is gonna win the M v p in the MBA. Yeah, I think it's pretty much his toe win. Um, you know, this is someone who the real icing on the cake for me was basically what the team the Nuggets have been able to do with Jamal Murray going down. It really showed that he was continue to keep the team of float. He's averaging like a near You know, 26.11 rebound like I think 8.5 assist something like that kind of near triple dust Averaging a triple double. Yeah, it's about rush. But and those air all statistically significant numbers, career highs and points and rebounds and assists like I mean, I was just talking about this. Like Um, you know, and then it's not a participation trophy, so he has played all the games while you know, indeed hasn't but you know, he's really been the most consistently dominant skilled and present s O. You know, his team's third. I think third right now in the last That's what matters. Yeah, I think it's too bad and beat got hurt. And LeBron got hurt. They would have been up there the other guy to think about here, and I know his team's gonna face the play in. But Steph has just been on a terror. Yeah, No, but his team's not good enough. He won't win the MVPs. Steph is that could be the most valuable player to his team, but he just he and when you look at who he's got playing around him and missing clay, and obviously Durant, not their Wiseman going out. I think he at least he both He and Westbrook deserve a mentioned with the way that they played over the course. Over the last couple months. It is a final at Staples. By the way, Nick's 106 clippers 100, they clinched a playoff spot. It's gonna be fun to watch the Knicks in the playoffs up next Braves Phillies on most ESPN affiliates or Pod Center. "We kind of know all the beats. Yeah, And I think the key to managing a relationship isn't actually right now, While there's a potential trade request, or you know you're searching around for different suitors. It's way before that, in the communication and the working through making sure that your star your superstar feels involved and understands that you're building for the future while still having him at the forefront. Of what you're trying to do and build and have success is an organization. I think like the whole Jordan love thing. You know, the lack of urgency and drafts really hurt the relationship and and perhaps better communication might have helped him through that point, and we wouldn't be here now. It's such a slippery slope, though, because Aaron Rodgers isn't an NFL GM, you know, And if you asked him, he'd probably say I want to take a receiver, a left tackle in the first round every year. But the opposite side of that is the last 10 years rise. The Lakers have taken the Lakers, the Packers have taken nine defensive players. In the first round, and the one offensive player that they took was the quarterback was Jordan Law Jordan here? Here's the problem, though they went 14 into this year. They're the best offense in the league. They have the best receiver in the league. Maybe in part because of Roger's. They just re signed Aaron Jones to a giant contract. Bachtiar, he might be the best left tackle in all of football. It Rogers can't look at that offense and say I don't have any help. Lot of quarterbacks would love to have the support that he has. Yeah, So is what you're saying, Maura, that you would like to see more security and maturity out of your your superstar quarterback Zach China. It's both. I think this relationship rise. A lot of the blood is on Roger's hands, and a lot of it is on the Packers hands and I agree with you about communication. What I was saying. Hey, do you want us to get Jordan love? They don't need to ask, but I feel like again. I'm not there, but I would imagine some kind of tripped the transparency and just keeping somebody involved. Let them know this isn't a replacement. This is about building the team. Hey, you're still the man. Hey, look at the great season we just had this year, you know of anybody could understand what it's like to be that young quarterback coming in. It's it's Rogers because But I also think it's about feeling appreciated, because, yeah, you know, I think the Packers have had 30 consecutive years of franchise quarterback play. And you know, at some point, they just might figure. Well, we could just transition to Jordan Love? No, no, Like Aaron Rodgers is a non renewable resource. If Aaron Rodgers leaves, you might not find another franchise quarterback for 30 years. Just ask the Chicago Bears are straight talk is brought to you by straight talk Wireless. No contract. No compromise up next. If it isn't the Lakers and the West. Then who will it be? We discuss and debate. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. She's Roz Golden. What I It's ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Okay. Jay Z e could certainly see how air Rogers feels about the way he's treated to Green Bay Packers that all of a sudden they won't extend an olive branch to make.

"What this next five game stretch is gonna look like for them. Cause there's a world in which to me. The Jazz is a unit have Les miles on them. They're younger Dan Quinn is coaching his butt off and not to take anything from Vogel or tie Lou. But like Went Quinn Quinn cider. You mean Quinn's Excuse me Quinn tonight or apologize, Um, like masters like anything from those other coaches. But these are guys that are defending at a high level, and that is the bread and butter of what they do. There's no switch on for the playoffs. You know what I mean? Like what? We're trying to figure out if the Nets can actually play defense on any level or not. Yeah, I just think the Lakers have two superstars. I'm not convinced the Jazz have any I'll give you a team I don't buy. And I'll give you this. The team that I think is a real sleeper team. The team I don't buy is the Bucks. I just don't trust Johannes down the stretch in a close playoff game. I've seen it enough times. And I don't think the Jew holiday edition really has meant all that much to them. And I think to me the slippery team that doesn't get a lot of conversation is a bona fide championship contender is Philly because and beat is probably the second M V P choice right now and with a different coach and a different philosophy. The biases played really well, almost did it all Star level. Ben Simmons has become a premiere defender. I think he's really found his role, and I think now they know that Embiid is their guy and he's not standing out there shooting threes. Give me a team you dont buy Monica and then like a sleep re team that we should keep our eye on here as we approach the halfway point. Okay, team. I don't. But I think the bucks is an excellent choice is a team not to buy. Um Think based on what we're seeing lately. I think the Celtics Yeah, I'm out on the Celtics on Di Don't know. Big picture. Macro it maybe. Bubble fatigue shortened season a bunch of different things, but I think I'm out on the Celtics slippery team to me, and this is tough. There's a little bit of heart strings involved in this choice. Oh, man, Um Well got him. You got to that date, I think. Well, you're ahead of me, but that's why I was like, Wait, Wait. 1, 21 1 18 With 2.6 seconds left. Luca just missed an open three that would have tied it And I believe it is still Dallas Ball. So we'll keep you posted. What's going into the first half of our doubleheader on ESPN? The second half Lakers nuggets coming up. Give me your slippery team. All right, my slippery team. This is Miami. And I know that they're not looking so fantastic right now. They just had a shellacking actually, at the hands of the Jazz. The other night, but essentially, they returned everybody and they may be in the same bucket as the subject in terms of the wear and tear of last year and the shortened off season and all that may ultimately never allowed them to be entirely great. Um, but I love Jimmy Brother and that group was in the finals like maybe that's a two sides of that coin like they were playing late in But you know the east to me? Yes. Then that's may have the most town of bitterness. And I planned defense consistently yet. They're not even interested. And so to me, even though I'm with you on the bus and the Celtics like that Top four Top five group, they're gonna beat each other up. So if Miami slides in later, though, they've got the mental toughness. Yeah, it's hot at the right time anyway. Yeah, that the championship medal they need Tyler hero and Players like that to step up and play the way they did in the bubble will straight ahead. We are getting close to March. It's Valentine's Day. It's February 14th. And you know what That means. We've got that next college hoops on Game night. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. She's Monica McNutt. I love you being my teammate s O for our listeners not born raised products of the D. M. V, D. C. Maryland and Virginia. Think Kevin did that on purpose. Just for me. That was yes. And Ode to Adele. Terrific. You know, 1921 1 of her best albums. Although 25 was popping too. She was hilarious. When as you know, last year, too, by the way, But that is the go go remix of Hello. So those those drums you hear that little extra balance? The extra swag is signature. Go go Music to the Washington D. C. Metro area, my hometown. So that just got me hype for on another level. Game night is about to go all the way up, Goldhammer, just so you know. So this is when you say the D m V. That is Delaware, Maryland. Wow. I'm gonna have the night off because that is deep just for Joe D. C. Maryland. Massey, Maryland. What about what about the poor people in Delaware? They don't know what? I'm sorry. So here's the deal. The D M V is also synonymous with the metro area, which Produces products like Kevin Durant. I'm saying like we love our basketball, but when we say the metro area it's literally you can get to the places where referring to on the Metro So even the D. M V is general because I'm not talking about Richmond, Virginia. Okay, I'm talking about Fairfax County. I'm saying you're not talking about Charlottesville. You're talking. You're not talking about south of the Mason Dixon line you're talking about. The D C. Suburbs like Arlington is part of the D M V, You know, go joking. I know I would spend much of time I went to college in New York. So I know that my East Coast lingo is okay. I just I felt bad for the people in Delaware Is Baltimore part of the D M V or No? Okay, so no. Because Baltimore's outside of the I heard you, Devon. I feel you there. Outside of our metro. You can't get to Baltimore in the Metro. Okay. And what's more, is his own other ether yet, But my Baltimore could take you to take the Amtrak too. But that's not the metro you. Come on, Goldhammer. Focus. Okay, You gotta get to the metro. I'm glad I'm glad we've clarified this for everyone. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. She's Monica McNutt. I grew up in Denver. She grew up in the D. M V. There you go See Maryland and Northern Virginia and You Southern Virginians. You were in the Confederacy. You don't count is the D M V. Listen Valentine's Day is here. And I feel like you know, in a non pandemic world, Monica That's typical Valentine's Day date. Right is dinner and a movie is you Go, You sit in a cold air condition theater and you watch a movie with someone. To me. That's one thing If you're married, whatever. I am surprised the little bit that more people don't use the sporting event. Baseball game Basketball game College game pro game. As a great litmus test for someone that they are considering dating as an early date like a first three dates, and I think when the pandemic is over Going to a game should become part of a Valentine's tradition. Yes. Now we're sports. People don't go the hammer. We're sports people. So we appreciate this, But I will say first three is a little early on Lee. A three of the three would be the first number for me because you know me millennial woman like we're alternating. We're splitting. 20 of them. They're not cheap. Okay, you know, right, Like sports are natural. Okay there then if we're gonna if we're still in the dating impress you phase Either. I'm a hilarious person and want to see how you respond to these nosebleed seats. Do you respect my button or I'm still trying to impress you and might be blowing my budget for these center court 100 section seats now. Okay, so once we get in Goldhammer what we're doing about food, right? You know, Okay. Ah, fried cause me costs me $11. That's just one front. Know what? Let's listen. See, I wanna be the guy that Packs and I am married. By the way, I'm just put making myself stereotypically single just for the purposes of this conversation. Would be the guy that would pack the Ziploc bags of delicious gummy candy and sneak them into the arena. And if the girl gets mad at me for saying, Oh, you won't spring for the $2000 Starburst from the concession stand. Then I know that that's not the girl for me. If the girls if the girls like Oh, you got the little bright crawlers, which you bought it CVS or Walgreen's, or whatever. And then you stuck them in it like then I know that's the girl for me. I just think that all of this the food and then the other thing, what you're what you wear what you choose to wear to a sporting about. I also think says a lot about you 100% hundreds and now I will say this before we get to wardrobe because that's a whole another element. What It also depends on I said, third date, and that's being generous to me because I have learned about my boyfriend. He is. He doesn't want to chitchat. We haven't done a live event together. But just from watching events together, he doesn't want to chitchat right And then vice versa depending on what's going on, like I don't necessarily want to chitchat either. Won't hold on. It doesn't like if it's a regular season Wizards game, okay. That's a different story than if it's Game seven of the West. Do you know Eastern Conference Finals? You know that you really have to watch every single play because you've been waiting your whole life for this. If it's an NBA game in February. I'm sorry you could do some chit chatting during the game. So you're too intense for me. If you can't carry on it mid game conversation under those conditions, I will.

And you know, the Browns game against the Chiefs really turned on that crazy Rashard Higgins worst rule in sports play down by the goal line. And so I think the message there is You can't make a mistake like that and expect to beat the defending Super Bowl champions. Truer words never spoken. And you're right. We rallied around our hatred for that rule. Aaron, we appreciate the time and you helping us. Open up these old wound. Thank you. Nobody will talk to you soon. Yeah, well, the drive is next on Shin Angola, Junior, right? Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN. Cleveland. So there you have it. Keep mall in front of you Try and get him up to make a play and just pray to God. Some of those guys drop it easier said then done good luck books all much easier said than done. "Son wanting Murphy, The same guy who got the pictures to against the saints was the one on the play, and it looked like Yeah, like he said that he had some holding which in turn it around. Look, I'm for replay to get it, right. That's what bothered me last week with your game with the brand. I know you've talked this to death between the Browns and the chief. You're you're supposed to get it right. So if there's a key player, that's a key player in the game, they gonna turn over to get in touch in a 21 to 10. Maybe the game is over. I'm not a big replay guy. Just because I think from a technology standpoint, it should be faster. But I am forgetting it right. So if you could give a coach let's say you get one. Like they do in the N B. A. You get one. I don't care what it is, You get one, So if it's a holding play there that could change the game. If it's a play, that's helmet, the helmet. Obviously in your game, ironically enough, right before the half same kind of a situation right that could decide the game. You don't know when the game's gonna be decided, and that's the issue I have, and the point is to get it right and the reason why this live replay was brought in. Anyway was because Vinny Testaverde wasn't over the line. That was the most egregious air of that game when he was playing for the Jets against the Seahawks. If it's the most egregious error of the game, let my coach decide when it is. Yeah, and I think to you know, you brought up egregious like it should be obvious things. You know this past interference holding call that we're talking about. Pretty blatant, Miss. You know, I'm not talking about, you know, zooming in with incredible technology to see if the tippy toe of somebody is out of bounds. Don't like I don't like using replay in those situations. I like using it in when there is a blatant, obvious mistake, and I thought this was playing an obvious but the Packers really have nobody to blame for being in this situation other than themselves. They didn't play a clean half. They dropped a touchdown pass. They threw an interception, and they played incredibly dumb defense on the last play, And that's why they're down by 11 points and why now? They really need their M v P to rescue them on this first drive and make this a one score game again. It's game day on ESPN Radio and ESPN have John Lund, Aaron Goldhammer 21 10 at the half The Buccaneers lead the Packers and again a miracle deep touchdown pass to Scotty Miller from Tom Brady got behind Kevin King, which is six seconds left in the half. An unforgivable mistake 14 to 10, but just a Talk about your point for a minute. You can't complain much when you give up that play when you give up seven of 10 on third down what have one on fourth down 235 yards in the first half. If you can't do that 7.1 yards Her play for the defense for the For the Green Bay Packers. They've got to go in, and Aaron Rodgers can only do so much. He hit his first seven passes. 14th 19 1 69 Like you said controversial interception. It has not been on Aaron Rodgers. Having said that. If they lose this game, it will be on Aaron Rodgers. It will be on Kevin King. To an extent There's no question, but we had the legacy discussion before this game started. You win or lose games Tom Brady will move on Aaron Rodgers will not is still only have the one Super Bowl win. And regardless, Kevin King's mistake will be for gotten five years from now. Probably except for everybody in Green Bay. And they'll blame Aaron Rodgers for the loss. That's how it works. Is there a way this is? Roger's Last game is a Packer if they lose Why not? If he he could have played better in the first half. But he is for seven. Not if he plays this way. Now, if in the second half Rogers is completely throws two or three interceptions. Yeah. Then then some people someone will write. Jordan Love his first round pick. Aaron Rodgers didn't get it done in the playoffs. Maybe they need to take a look. I think that would be ludicrous, but I think it's going to be ready and they might say, you know, it might be positioned to this way does does Rogers want out? You know what he wants to go play somewhere else. And also, what could you get for every Rogers? If you liked Jordan love like we think to Shawn Watson would not a lot in part because he's younger. But he hasn't proven what Aaron Rodgers has proven. You know, this one player away from the Super Bowl thing like I think about the team that I cover right? The grounds if the Browns had Aaron Rodgers instead of Baker Mayfield Now everyone here is high on Baker Mayfield. Then he had a great end to the season. But if you throw Aaron Rodgers with Nick Chubb, Odell, Jarvis Landry and Are you? Are you a Super Bowl favorite? I mean, someone would have to think that way. If the Packers got to that point, I think the immediate moves now if they lose this game, I think the defensive coordinator is gonna lose his job. The way the last two championship games have gone. Last year. I mean, you know, Jimmy Garoppolo didn't have to throw a pass for 2.5 quarters. And the 40 Niners ran for. I'm sure you know it off the top of your head. How many yards did the Niners run for In the end? I know where he most it ran for 2 20. I know that Jimmy Garoppolo through eight passes in a championship game, completing 60 Day one, Okay. It was ridiculous. Let me go back to point from it. I don't think fans sometimes understand what championship Windows are Baker Mayfield younger and you could have him for 10 years. But the point is to win a championship, especially in a city like yours. Aaron Rodgers is 37 given what Drew Brees and Tom Brady and others can do. He's probably got five years left there in a championship window right now. I'm not saying that Baker Mayfield isn't the better guy for 10 years. Aaron Rodgers is the neck is the best guy for the next five. I don't know what he would get in comparison Tol Watson for the same reason, because Watson's could be around, maybe for 10 years for your team, But if you're in a championship window, there's gonna be a dogfight. If somebody is stupid enough to say maybe we should trade Aaron Rodgers because the first half hasn't been his fault. Yeah, No, I I don't think so. I mean, the interception wasn't pretty. And you know, we thought he's now thrown three against the bucks, right and three against everybody else, you know, so Tampa's doing something special to Aaron Rodgers to force him into some of those mistakes. And I think to get back in this game. Yes, they need to drive right here. And they need Rogers to step up right here with this first drive out of the half, but I think they also may need to turn over of their own to sort of swing the moment. Um back on their side. They're not out of it. Their offense has played pretty well. But I'm curious to see the lasting impact of that boneheaded Kevin King, Mike Pet and played and the half and how that's going to affect the Packers now going forward. I would just say this that if the Packers don't score for there is another turnover here. Some kind of a pick six. This game is over because they're hanging their heads. They're looking for something from Aaron Rodgers. And if he can't deliver, it's gonna be tough in the second half Fucking is leading 21 to 10 in the NFC championship game will keep you up to date on that, But we did this for the NFC. So we've got to do it for the A F. C. Call your shot a F C Championship edition. We'll do it. Next. "Our v A. V. Goodyear Hotline. John Lund. Aaron Goldhammer kept quick update on the NFC championship game Buccaneers and Tom Brady lied Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. 14 to 10. It could be tied at 14 Davante Adams with a rare drop in the end zone on the Packers last possession and then a third down stop by the Packers gets them the ball back, so they're deep in their own territory, but two minutes left You pointed this out Aaron. They could double up here. If they could get a score here. They get the second half kickoff, right. They have two time outs and the two minute warning, but they're starting deep in their own territory. Red zone is a big difference in this game. Tampa has scored when they've gotten down there touchdowns both times. And the Packers, of course, had the three place to Davante Adams that they couldn't convert for a touchdown and they had to settle for a field goal. So that's the difference in the game. The other big thing I'm looking at here seven for nine on third down Tampa in the first half. Mike Patton in the Green Bay Defense, John They're gonna have to make some third down adjustments and get off the field a little bit more. A couple of those were third and longs and I know it's tough against Tom Brady. But Campus. Ability to convert on third down has been a huge difference so far in this first half lives. No doubt that you can. You don't even have to look at the scoreboard. If you look at third downs, if you look at red zones, and if you could look at big plays, if you add those up, and one team is dominant over another. You're gonna win the football game, an interesting situation to the Packers. The Buccaneers could have called the time out there and they could've got the ball back, but it looks like they're not going to the Packers will continue. We'll keep you up to date on the game. It will also continue to talk about the A F C championship game later on between the bills. And the Kansas City Chiefs from Arrowhead Stadium. But we're having a conversation earlier, the Miami heat. I don't know how this technology works. I have no idea. Dogs are incredible. So the Miami Heat claimed they have dogs that can sniff. For covert 19 no idea how this works. Sniffer, covert 19th. So the question is What would it take to get you back into an arena in a stadium? Are you already ready to go? Are you waiting for the vaccine? Are you waiting for others to go? Are you waiting for dogs who could sniff covert 19? How would you? How would you phrase where you are, As far as if you could go back in with the masses that you would go well in Cleveland? It's very different than where you are in San Francisco, John because here we're letting fans into the basketball arena about 2500. And we went through a brown season where there were fans at every single game, But I have not been to a sporting event since the beginning of the pandemic for everybody. This is different, right? Everybody sees this thing differently. Everybody's a different age. They come into contact with different people. Their level of risk is totally different. John for me. I've got to get the two doses of the vaccine before I'm going back to these games. And I think that owners realize that there is enough. There are enough people that were willing to risk it, especially outdoors. But the tricky thing for the heat for for these inside NBA games is I don't care how good the ventilation is. Just my constitution. My insides tell me that being outside is safer for covert than being inside and to go to a mass event like this indoors here. I'm probably wait until I get two doses of vaccine before I'm mask up and go back to an NBA game as much as I miss it as much as I want to be there I have. I have been too numerous 40 Niners game. It's I Dupri in post game for the 40 Niners out here in the Bay Area, and it is the weirdest thing ever to be in a game in which it's a professional game, and there are no fans. It feels like a scrimmage. There is no Mo mentum one way or the other one. A team makes a big score. They scored on a 76 yard touchdown. And it didn't matter that there was fake noise and all these kind of things early in the season, there was no Mo mentum. The Arizona Cardinals came back. No problem. There is no intimidation factor, and I don't care If there's a small amount of fans and you're pumping a bunch of noise in in Kansas City today, it would be vastly different. If you had a bunch of lubed up people going into Arrowhead, save him and screaming their heads off and doing the chance and all the different things that they do. It's just vastly different. What happens with the opposition is and I've done it in MBA arenas have been there, too. Just there's no intimidation. You go on a 10 hour run. No problem. We're fine. It's like you're just you're playing in a neutral site, with with no energy or momentum going either way, and sometimes it takes the home team to wake up for a minute. At least it did early in the NFL season to say we make a big play. There's no momentum. We've got to continue this. It's going to be all on us. That's been the most difficult part. Would go to an outdoor arena and feel pretty well about it, depending obviously on what the parameters were indoor arenas like you just said I'm not there yet. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not there yet for an indoor arena because they've told you that the outside and for obvious reasons. You're less likely so outside arenas I would start to feel comfortable inside. Aries is gonna take me a while. Dogs are just the best. How can a dog sniff you and be able to sense that you have the that is amazing to me. And I wonder like if there's a certain part of your body that exudes the scent, so like do you like if it's your face, like do you have to get down on the floor so that the dog can sniff your face before they'd let you in the building that Z. I gotta see how these dogs the covert sniffing dogs work. I got to see that in action, but apparently it's it's for real. The other part of this, you brought up Especially for the N B, a in the NFL the reason to go to the game. Isn't just to witness it in person. It's to witness it in person with 60,000 of your closest friends, so they want to feel that energy that Horsing vibe that you get out of the walk off home run. Just got hit. Right for the big touchdown pass just got thrown or LeBron on the breakaway throws down that Duncan. Everybody like rises as one and I would think that to be in these vast arenas with just a couple of people. I would almost rather watch it at home, then be there in person, because it feels that could be just a constant reminder of the pandemic. Trust me. I have enough reminders in my life of what's going on this country right now. I don't need another one game be on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. When would you go back into an arena in Miami? The heat have Covert 19 sniffing dogs. I just know this. I am honestly I want to go to anything and I'm telling you, I'm not sure I want to go to a concert. You know what? I'm not gonna lie to you early in this whole process. I invited my ex wife over. That's how desperate I was to have some sort of adult interaction. And everybody who has kids at home schooling right now knows exactly. I just want to talk to adults. Even if she screams at me and tells me what a loser I am. Any kind of interaction, and I'm still nervous to go to a game right now. Not sure. Oh, I am. So that's where I am right. I've had days. I've had days like that, too. "So I think it's as they look ahead is great. Roman looks ahead as they try to do this with Lamar Jackson Knight. I do think he is a top quarterback. But I just don't know if he's one of the five guys that I would want down by 14 points to bring my team back, and I think that's an element that you have to have in order to go on a Super Bowl run. No, I think you're right. I think when you look at like the top You know the teams that make it to a F C an NFC championship weekend, just looking at the balance that they have offensively you're not going to find one that is completely you know. One way versus you know a team that's the other way. Yes, people gonna talk about the Eagles in 2017 their past first offense, but they could run the ball when they had to the year that they went to the Super Bowl Buffalo tonight. Hasn't been running the ball all that effectively and, yeah, they haven't really needed to in spite of the weather conditions, But you know that they still can and you know that you have a quarterback who could help you in that element, But you have to be more balanced than that. Like that's way. You never understand teams that have with these philosophies of run first or pass first, like whatever happened to balance like, Because look at all those years of the Patriots went to the Super Bowl. Why did they do that? Because they were balancing and really good defense is That's the key. I mean, football is a complementary game. That's what that's what it takes in order to reach the postseason in order to get far in the postseason, and I think that that's still you know what the what the Ravens are trying to work through here, especially offensively because their defense I don't think that's really the issue like but offensively they've How to be able to figure that out. As Lemar Jackson gets you no further on it into his career, if when you especially now that we're gonna be heading into the offseason soon, probably for the Ravens. We think about a contract extension for him and what that entails. How much you'll get paid. All that is here. Franchise guy certainly is, but No. You don't want to waste those early years where this is certainly for someone who takes his many heads as he does, And you know is in that position where he is a very mobile but running quarterback. You've got to try toe preserve that longevity for us long as you can, and that involves a better passing attack. Ravens don't score on fourth and goal Buffalo takes over and they're gonna win this game and move on and eliminate the Baltimore Ravens out of the A F. C playoffs. It looks like 2 30 to go. Those have the ball up 17 to 3 and again. Lamar Jackson left this game early with a concussion and has been ruled out for the remainder of a game night. ESPN radio ESPN app. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Courtney Cronin. You know what's crazy Courtney coming into this season. Off of his M V P year, everybody. Lamar Jackson is the quarterback you'd want out of the 2018 draft class. What's funny is at least going into tomorrow. The number one pick in the draft. Baker Mayfield is still in the playoffs. Josh Alan moves on to the A F C championship game. If you had to have one going forward for your franchise, take the money out of it. Take the contracts out of it. Lamar, Josh, Alan or Baker? Who would you want on Courtney Cronin's NFL team? That's I hate this question. Is it so hard? I would probably still go with Josh Alan. I mean, I know that I said Lamar, I thought that you know, he said they were my pick in this game, but Josh Alan, and the improvement he made from 2019 toe where he's at now, what did it take? Take it Take it took added Sto, adding could speak. Stefan digs into the mix for him, giving him more weapons on the outside. And all of a sudden he stepped up his game in terms of Q B. R in terms of accuracy, completion percentage the whole thing. And he's somebody who could scramble and he's somebody who's not afraid you can, you know, create design runs for take him out of the pocket. All of that. I think he's probably the most complete these. He's also got the most complete team. Minus the chiefs of any team that I'm looking at left in the A F. C playoff, So I'm going with the mark Jackson ever sees. I'm going with Josh Allen. Lamar Jax. You could make an argument for Baker Mayfield after you my number two just given Level of improvement that we saw from rookie year in 2018 with all those touchdowns and said the rookie record for passing touchdowns that year than you know, kind of the ups and downs and ups and downs and finally finding some stability. In that play Action offense with Kevin Stefanski and what he's been able to instill in 2020 season. I might take Lamar Third and this again is no insult to him in that group Also. Remember Baker Senso Del went down just before Halloween has 19 touchdown passes and one interception. He has been arguably during the second half of this season. Right there with Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in all of football. So it looks like the bill is going to advance the NFC Championship game. Courtney Trivia. The last time the Bills played in the A F. C championship, they played against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he guesses as to who the chief's quarterback was that day. Oh, man that's going to be. I think I was before I was born, So I honestly have no clue. Joe Montana was quarterback before I was part of the city Chiefs. The last time the bills played for Day F C championship, and it looks like They're going to do just that. Next Sunday. Coming up next l a season is Donna. Where to the Rams go from here. We debate. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Courtney Cronus. Game night, ESPN radio, ESPN app. ESPN radio in the undefeated Celebrate.

"Not the plan. I don't believe going into this, but you know the way that it played out right now a close game. I don't think most people would have expected 33 a half time but You know, this Buffalo team is really dangerous and following up on the performance that they had, particularly defensively down the stretch there in the fourth quarter against the Colts and the You know the Hail Mary Pass break up after they, you know, had the penalty and then give Philip Rivers a fresh set of downs last week like I That game was coming down to the wire to begin with. Off loans of escaping that you know by a three point win, But this defense can play close games in ways that they might not have been able to, particularly in the red zone earlier on this season, and I think that that's probably their greatest sign of growth. At least till now, So I'm curious. I'm eager for the second half to start to see. Do we finally start seeing the Ravens get a little bit closer and you know that they're able to score and just to see how the bills Red Zone defense. Especially that secondary is able to handle them a couple of things, so I said the three rushing attempts Courtney. One of them is from Devon Singletary for three yards, the other actual running back. The other two are from Josh Allen. Lamar Jackson, meanwhile, has seven carries for 18 yards. Courtney which quarterback do you trust the most of these two in the second half of this game? I would trust Lamar. If they're not going to make him have to do everything because right now they don't have a lot going for them. Offensively, they haven't been able to to score outside of Justin Tucker's, You know, third field goal, So I would like to trust Lamar if they can keep those passing numbers, you know, not see some sort of huge influx there in the second half, but you know the way that Josh Allen's playing means he's 13 22 120 yards right now passing. I think he's playing all right, so I still I don't know My money's still on Lamar in this game. Yeah, I'd say Lamar to Josh l It's just been a little bit erratic, but some of the throat But five years past guys, some of that is the wind and maybe they should run the ball and second, I don't know up. Next, we dive back into the Packers reaching another and F C championship game. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Courtney Cronin. This is Game night. It's ESPN radio, the ESPN app..

"On your smart speaker just say play ESPN radio. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Courtney Cronin and James Harden. First of all, Courtney, it looked like he'd lost about £20 since he played in Houston earlier this week. Yeah, I think those weird tie dye it looks like what I used to make it summer camp. Those tide I looking next jersey. They're like blue. And then there's like a splash of white here and there. It looks like how I would do when I was in fifth grade. Um, I think it's very slimming because that does not look like the James Harden that we saw back in December when the league was just getting underway and he was in a Houston rockets uniforms. Is it possible for these guys to like gain 10 Pet like today lose in gain 10 or £15, just because the amount they eat and the amount they work out when you're a professional athlete like I've heard LeBron say before, for example, that he's lost. 10 or £15 during a game of before for me to lose or gain. £10 is a phenomenal amount of weight, but I work out like four times a year. Um, so it's hard for me to really get a feel it looked there. The pregame pictures from the other night against the Lakers hardens last game with the Rockets. And the pregame pictures tonight It looked like a completely different person looked like he'd lost 15 or £20. So the Nets win 1 22 1 15. They got a big performance just to win by seven. Courtney. They got big performances from both Katie and from Harden. Durant also had 42 in this game. In addition to hardens 32, but it's almost like no one else. You know that They've got two guys now on this team. It's almost like they have no one else who can contribute. They need those big time performances from all of their stars. Other than that, they're margin for air. To win, I think is pretty small. Yeah. I mean, that's the hard part. When you take a look at like the 14 trade that sent out care, slivered in Jared Allen and you know all the boatload of picks that the Rockets are gonna have through What 2024 25 like the next half of this decade s o. That to me is when you lose key members make cares the vert somebody. It we're thinking is potentially a six man of the year candidate to start out the 2020. 2021 season s O I don't know. You don't want to get into a situation where it's like Oklahoma City a couple years ago where you had Russian, U N k D and then you had everybody else like you have volume scorers as we certainly saw today, and I know that Kyrie Irving still on his sabbatical or whatever s so I'll be curious to see when they get him back in the mix. You're gonna have a team that scoring it will every single night But how long is it going to take before we can Actually tangibly, see and feel the contributions from other guys in this bench because they you know, while they brought in a superstar player who, by the way, I think the most interesting thing if we're talking about the James Harden introductory press conference and all of that yesterday You know, most times, guys come to places and say I came here to win a championship. I came here to be a part of that core that can do that. His thing was he wasn't making any promises, he said. Quote. It's not a guarantee that me coming to Brooklyn is guaranteeing a title. He certainly talked about the chance to do so. It's important for him at this stage of his career. It's what he wants, but I don't know that one kind of like if I know that he essentially said the right thing, but just the tone of it in just the way that, he said. It made me think that it's like, OK, even here sees that this could be very difficult to do even though you have three great players. Three prolific scorers when you don't have and you don't have so much uncertainty about the rest of your bench. And all the contributions that you may have given up Essentially in this trade game night, ESPN radio ESPN APP. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. With Courtney Cronin right now ongoing in the NFL playoffs, Justin Tucker of the Ravens has missed two field goals both off the uprights. As the Bills lied. Baltimore three Nothing with 6 55 to go in the second quarter Packers win earlier today, but we're talking MBA is James Harden makes his debut tonight as the Nets beat the Magic 1 20 to 1 51 15 and Hardened had a triple double. In his debut with Brooklyn. I think this is a big three coordinates the new Big three on D usually big threes, make the finals or win the title. If you have a big four, you're like assured of that, right? But this big three has major questions in a variety of areas with Katie. It's his health. Other than that, I think I can count on Katie to be a superstar in the best player on this team. With Harden. It's just his playoff performances. You know, I know. James Harden could put up a game like this against the magic in the middle of January. He's January. James. That's this is what he's known for. He's proven he's in all MBA all World player this time of year. It's what happens in June and July this year That's going to dictate a season And then I think what? The nets right The biggest question of all is what if anything, are they going to get from Kyrie? Irving? Can they count on him? So while they have a big three, I'm not convinced at all. Courtney that this is the best team in the East at their best. I think they are, but because they have all of those questions hardened in the clutch and Durant stay healthy and Kyrie even being around and I just have Ah, lot of questions still about how this whole next thing is going to come together. I think you can say that high risk because of all those factors that she that you mentioned, high risk high reward mean Durant is playing at a level right now that I was shocked to see he didn't look like you missed a beat after 15 months. Between the last time he took the court Game five of the finals in 2019 to where he debuted this year this year with the Achilles that's impressive, impressive. He's averaging more in 29 points. Um, you know, the way that he played with the Warriors like that looks like the Durant that we're seeing now, but almost like on steroids, And I mean that like, not in that sense, but like a really heightened version of Kevin Durant to the point where it's like, Who is this guy? Did he reinvent himself in his time away from the court That's going to yield a different version. Of him when he's at this point of his career with the Nets, But I think all the ancillary stuff around this is what gives me a little bit of pause, because could this potentially be the next big super team? Yes, it's got a big three when Durant was with the apple with the Golden State Warriors. He was part of the Big Four. So he kind of left one situation where he was criticized for, you know, joining a super team to essentially join another. I mean, yes, it was him and Irving when they linked up initially, but I'm sure he had quite a say in bringing James hearted in considering how close they are, and they were Oklahoma City together all those years or early on, so it's kind of weird to me like it's like he left one to join another, and maybe it's because the people couldn't came to him. It wasn't him being the out liar, joining the already great team, I don't know, but sure there's so much uncertainty with that. That? Yes, This is a team that can score. It will, but they're not going to be is good on the defensive end. Let's say it's a team like Milwaukee. I don't know if they're gonna be able to stop teams that will like that. But they're going to be entertaining his heck to watch because they're gonna be scoring. Ah, lot of points every single night when all three of them Assuming urban comes back from his sabbatical. I don't know how long that's gonna last, but You know if it's effectively soon that could be a really hot team entering the month of February. Beyond that, Courtney and it's here in gold and with Courtney Cronin, ESPN radio ESPN APP with Game night. It's if they don't win the title based on all the pics that they gave up in this trade and the way they mortgaged their future if they don't win a championship with this core group I think it's a massive failure because they're going to move into the latter part of this decade and have no assets. What so ever in order to improve their team, they're gonna have no Bonified..
