"Been full strength and healthy for majority of the season. You know Mitchell considering that injury with the ankle, he missed his first four shots, including a pair of drives to the basket, and it was It was interesting. You were like Wow. Mitchell doesn't look right at the start of this game. You wondered if when he was going to get hot. His first basket didn't come to, like, eight minutes to go in the second quarter. But then he proceeded to score Utah's next 16 points. So he got hot certainly, and then ended with 30. So he still produced for his team just obviously wasn't enough with Eclipse shooting as well as they did, and I thought it was interesting. Tyler talking about his guy Paul G after the game. With different teams, and we know that you know, it's been like that all season long and he's been great. You know, we got a one bad game or whatever, but he was gonna have bad games. So the biggest thing is just I think defensively just taking a challenge. You know, Donovan With angles, but those guys closing out of closing out, but also stopping penetration. Beauty did a great job of that tonight. So, um, they got shots every night. We understand that the defensively is what we got to be locked in, and I probably made some mistakes tonight. But overall just to where we play. We played hard and played physical. And then when you compete like that, in a high level, you can cover from mistakes. And we did that. "I think any and all criticism is going to be completely justified if they can't Turn things around, and it starts by winning a couple more games. This Red Sox series. Well, they are over 500. But who do you think scored more runs this year? Courtney, the Seattle Mariners or the New York Yankees. I'm gonna go with Seattle. Seattle has scored. 222 runs the Yankees 215. The Yankees have only played one fewer game. Who do you think scored more? The Kansas City Royals or the New York Yankees? The Royals are rebuilding most people listening to this right now they're awful. I watched them last week. When I bought my $89 sweatshirt. They can't name one Royal, who scored more runs. Kourtney. The Royals are the Yankees. I'm going to go with the Kansas City Royals. The Kansas City Royals have scored 248 runs the Yankees have scored 215 runs. The Mets are the worst offensive team in baseball 182 runs. Part of that is they've had so many rainouts, so they've played fewer games. But the Yankees are 25th in baseball in runs scored this year. With that offense and that payroll and Stanton and Torrez and Sanchez and the stars they have on that team. It's unacceptable and it's not going to continue. Have scored. 215 runs so far on the season straight ahead. We spoke about a big loss at Roland Garros, but the big stars are showing up at the French Open. We discussed. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. She's Courtney Cronin. Story in Valley, ESPN radio, ESPN APP ID Sirius XM Channel 80. K. J. C, but I don't believe that Air Rogers will not play football this season. I believe he will play. It just won't be in Green Bay. More from Sanjay will ensue been Monday morning,.

I just want to say it's so nice to have a Steeler fan on the radio beside Steven. I suck up to our producer Actually, with your stealer love some 48 37, I think is that it has been The ball yet has been going down for the ball yet, Scott, Come on. Uh, we don't get to my brother now. Now when I was growing up this was years ago Old man back in the eighties, You know, she worked two jobs, and I played Little League baseball, football basketball and she got me to all my practices and games. Well, one particular baseball game. He was asked on pile 1st and 2nd base. Okay, so I hit the crap out of the ball and over the right field, his head and I'm running around the bases and my mother is following me from 1st 2nd 3rd home. Just good boy. So but go now, we'll never figured that That was 40 years ago. I will never forget that. That was just awesome. That is awesome. Mom. She loved you. Oh, my gosh. Thank you, Scott. I appreciate the call. Those stories are just priceless. And I'm glad, Roz. I did not have the parents that would scream at the officials because that those every team has won And you know that it comes from a place of love. But it is mortifying to be that kid. So be nice to your Empire's this summer. Be nice to your football officials Be nice involved, likely every every sport whatever it is just Be respectful, please. Triple eight, say ESPN 887293776. Private time on ESPN radio. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Rose gold on what they were asking you. How did your mom shape your love of sports? Nicky is in Indiana's on ESPN radio. Hi, Nikki. Hi. Um, I grew up in Indiana and my mom. Huge fan of Indiana basketball. I remember when I was a kid. I didn't quite understand what was going on on the TV. So I play in the kitchen with my toys. And then whenever I hear screaming, I run in the living room, and they were hollering at the TVs, the IU basketball and, you know, kind of fast forward to when my son was in high school sports. I And remember being at one of his games for they were playing JV and the parents section was hollering so loud that they officials through a flowered basically on on us. Give us a sideline. Morning. Tell us to be quiet, so, but, yeah, big big fans of Indiana basketball. We own a sports bar and A lot of fun, Nicky, thanks for the call. And thanks for sharing your story realized Ross as you hear these stories, like so much of our love of sports, and so much of what we care about comes from our family and comes from our parents. I can remember. My mom is a huge tennis fan. In a good tennis player. And when I was a kid Australian Open She would wake up in the middle of the night like she would set her alarm at two a.m. to get out of bed and go downstairs to watch the Australian Open happen Live. Because it just wasn't the same tow. Watch it on tape delay on ESPN two or whatever the next day like that's Yes, she's a serious fan. That's right. And you know she. Her mood that day, you know, would be dictated by whether Rafa Nadal or Andre Agassi, whoever she liked, had won or lost. I I unfortunately kind of carried that in too. Especially when I was a little kid. I you know, maybe the games were a little bit. Maybe the games were a little bit too important. Triple eight, say ESPN 887293776. That's 88 say ESPN. Roger. You 100% sure that Nicola Yokich is gonna win the M v p in the MBA. Yeah, I think it's pretty much his toe win. Um, you know, this is someone who the real icing on the cake for me was basically what the team the Nuggets have been able to do with Jamal Murray going down. It really showed that he was continue to keep the team of float. He's averaging like a near You know, 26.11 rebound like I think 8.5 assist something like that kind of near triple dust Averaging a triple double. Yeah, it's about rush. But and those air all statistically significant numbers, career highs and points and rebounds and assists like I mean, I was just talking about this. Like Um, you know, and then it's not a participation trophy, so he has played all the games while you know, indeed hasn't but you know, he's really been the most consistently dominant skilled and present s O. You know, his team's third. I think third right now in the last That's what matters. Yeah, I think it's too bad and beat got hurt. And LeBron got hurt. They would have been up there the other guy to think about here, and I know his team's gonna face the play in. But Steph has just been on a terror. Yeah, No, but his team's not good enough. He won't win the MVPs. Steph is that could be the most valuable player to his team, but he just he and when you look at who he's got playing around him and missing clay, and obviously Durant, not their Wiseman going out. I think he at least he both He and Westbrook deserve a mentioned with the way that they played over the course. Over the last couple months. It is a final at Staples. By the way, Nick's 106 clippers 100, they clinched a playoff spot. It's gonna be fun to watch the Knicks in the playoffs up next Braves Phillies on most ESPN affiliates or Pod Center. "We kind of know all the beats. Yeah, And I think the key to managing a relationship isn't actually right now, While there's a potential trade request, or you know you're searching around for different suitors. It's way before that, in the communication and the working through making sure that your star your superstar feels involved and understands that you're building for the future while still having him at the forefront. Of what you're trying to do and build and have success is an organization. I think like the whole Jordan love thing. You know, the lack of urgency and drafts really hurt the relationship and and perhaps better communication might have helped him through that point, and we wouldn't be here now. It's such a slippery slope, though, because Aaron Rodgers isn't an NFL GM, you know, And if you asked him, he'd probably say I want to take a receiver, a left tackle in the first round every year. But the opposite side of that is the last 10 years rise. The Lakers have taken the Lakers, the Packers have taken nine defensive players. In the first round, and the one offensive player that they took was the quarterback was Jordan Law Jordan here? Here's the problem, though they went 14 into this year. They're the best offense in the league. They have the best receiver in the league. Maybe in part because of Roger's. They just re signed Aaron Jones to a giant contract. Bachtiar, he might be the best left tackle in all of football. It Rogers can't look at that offense and say I don't have any help. Lot of quarterbacks would love to have the support that he has. Yeah, So is what you're saying, Maura, that you would like to see more security and maturity out of your your superstar quarterback Zach China. It's both. I think this relationship rise. A lot of the blood is on Roger's hands, and a lot of it is on the Packers hands and I agree with you about communication. What I was saying. Hey, do you want us to get Jordan love? They don't need to ask, but I feel like again. I'm not there, but I would imagine some kind of tripped the transparency and just keeping somebody involved. Let them know this isn't a replacement. This is about building the team. Hey, you're still the man. Hey, look at the great season we just had this year, you know of anybody could understand what it's like to be that young quarterback coming in. It's it's Rogers because But I also think it's about feeling appreciated, because, yeah, you know, I think the Packers have had 30 consecutive years of franchise quarterback play. And you know, at some point, they just might figure. Well, we could just transition to Jordan Love? No, no, Like Aaron Rodgers is a non renewable resource. If Aaron Rodgers leaves, you might not find another franchise quarterback for 30 years. Just ask the Chicago Bears are straight talk is brought to you by straight talk Wireless. No contract. No compromise up next. If it isn't the Lakers and the West. Then who will it be? We discuss and debate. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. She's Roz Golden. What I It's ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Okay. Jay Z e could certainly see how air Rogers feels about the way he's treated to Green Bay Packers that all of a sudden they won't extend an olive branch to make.

"He could play a little bit, but I e. Don't know who else on the Washington football team I put on that list. Look I think that JJ feels like he's got a championship run left in him and the one thing he hasn't done. Monica he has won the Walter Payton Man of the year. He has been the defensive player of the year. He has never played in a conference championship game, let alone a Super Bowl. So what's the team like? People are saying Pittsburgh? I'm not sure. You really want to go play for Pittsburgh? Right now. You think you're going to put them over the top like they're They don't look like an up and coming team to me like a team that you're gonna go win a Super Bowl on. No. There seemed to me to be too real contenders. I'm curious. Your take here, one of the NFC one of the Air Sea. Green Bay is an obvious one because that's from Wisconsin. He went to Wisconsin and You know, like that. Reggie? Reggie White went to the Packers when he was 32 went there and won a Super Bowl on JJ will be trying to do the same thing, right? The FC one is is the Browns. I think because they need to pass rusher opposite Myles Garrett, and that's the kind of up and coming I think more of a Super Bowl contender right now than Pittsburgh. Really are there any other teams you would like to put on that list? Cause we know half the league apparently is called about in interested in JJ Watt. So just in terms of odds to get back, I thought Chiefs I'm not 100% up one if they actually need or have room. Um, but in terms of quick run formula that was chief for my first thought. Tampa So I thought about that. But then what? Who's Who's there? J. P p. And those guys check check birds that potentially a free agent. I mean, after the Super Bowl he had he could have been Super Bowl M v P. I imagine they would like to bring him back. We'll see what happens over the course of the next month. With those negotiations. That's all that's a lot of guys toward the end of it Z2 very big names toward the end of their career, reviving themselves in the retirement state of Florida. Tom Radio DJ. What? But I mean If that man Yeah, Yeah. Triple eight, Say ESPN. 887293776 Ethan is in New Jersey on Game night with Aaron Goldhammer and Monica McDonough. What's up, Ethan? Hey, I was just wondering what you guys think about JJ walk, becoming a free agent and all You know, it's a great question that Z sort of been the nature of this, Ethan. Thank you for the call. I think that's sort of been the gist of the of the segment. Right? To pro Goldhammer, right learning so much from you, but nobody hold on. I want to be respectful T. Ethan. It was this segment not about What and where he's going to answer evens question. I think the biggest appeal for me from JJ Watt as free agent is the leadership and the quality character that he's could bring to my locker room with the ability to assist on some sacks. I mean, if he gives you five again in a position where he is not the primary guy like No, I mean that's you know, respectable. So then it's how much right because you don't want to pay him like a guy who's going to do, you know, put up double digits acts if he's sort of going to be in your mentor, coach role, and Be a guy who's not going to play on 90% of the defensive snaps. Maybe he only plays 60% or something like that. But you know, he's a big name. I think he's a bigger name than this plays a productive player. At this point in his career, I think he will generate more clicks for ESPN dot com. That he will produce plays on the field. But that's not to say he doesn't still have value. I just think of his career is a 18 holes of golf. He's like on sitting on 76 Day. Well, yeah, right. Right, Right right around there. What about Dallas? Funny enough, because if we're doing names and stars and all that, But do you feel like Dallas you want if you really wanted to win a Super Bowl if you wanted to go somewhere where you thought you could win. Like you want to go play for Mike McCarthy. No, You're right. Okay, so then so then I guess that's where we probably hit our fork in the road. Do we believe that J. J. Watt wants to make a championship run, or do we still believe that J. J. Watt is looking to get paid? I mean, they did for this version of him. Obviously, I think he's got to be the one answer that. But I would guess that asking for his outright release from $17.5 million J. J. Watt wants to go somewhere. He's made a lot of money. He's you know, from endorsements, toe contracts. He's made a ton of money. I think J. J. Watt wants to win when big for the first time in his career, he's a Hall of Famer. Regardless right. I mean, if he retires tomorrow, he's a Hall of Famer. Three time defensive player of the year. 20 sacks season is all of Famer. But, um, he never once he's never been to a conference championship game, let alone go into a Super Bowl straight ahead. We got an M V P duel in the mile high going on right now and potentially a major injury for the Lakers. We will update that situation next time, Aaron Goldhammer. She is Monica McDuck. This is Game night on ESPN Radio, the ESPN app coming up Monday. The Chiefs have won seven straight Air Sea.

"What this next five game stretch is gonna look like for them. Cause there's a world in which to me. The Jazz is a unit have Les miles on them. They're younger Dan Quinn is coaching his butt off and not to take anything from Vogel or tie Lou. But like Went Quinn Quinn cider. You mean Quinn's Excuse me Quinn tonight or apologize, Um, like masters like anything from those other coaches. But these are guys that are defending at a high level, and that is the bread and butter of what they do. There's no switch on for the playoffs. You know what I mean? Like what? We're trying to figure out if the Nets can actually play defense on any level or not. Yeah, I just think the Lakers have two superstars. I'm not convinced the Jazz have any I'll give you a team I don't buy. And I'll give you this. The team that I think is a real sleeper team. The team I don't buy is the Bucks. I just don't trust Johannes down the stretch in a close playoff game. I've seen it enough times. And I don't think the Jew holiday edition really has meant all that much to them. And I think to me the slippery team that doesn't get a lot of conversation is a bona fide championship contender is Philly because and beat is probably the second M V P choice right now and with a different coach and a different philosophy. The biases played really well, almost did it all Star level. Ben Simmons has become a premiere defender. I think he's really found his role, and I think now they know that Embiid is their guy and he's not standing out there shooting threes. Give me a team you dont buy Monica and then like a sleep re team that we should keep our eye on here as we approach the halfway point. Okay, team. I don't. But I think the bucks is an excellent choice is a team not to buy. Um Think based on what we're seeing lately. I think the Celtics Yeah, I'm out on the Celtics on Di Don't know. Big picture. Macro it maybe. Bubble fatigue shortened season a bunch of different things, but I think I'm out on the Celtics slippery team to me, and this is tough. There's a little bit of heart strings involved in this choice. Oh, man, Um Well got him. You got to that date, I think. Well, you're ahead of me, but that's why I was like, Wait, Wait. 1, 21 1 18 With 2.6 seconds left. Luca just missed an open three that would have tied it And I believe it is still Dallas Ball. So we'll keep you posted. What's going into the first half of our doubleheader on ESPN? The second half Lakers nuggets coming up. Give me your slippery team. All right, my slippery team. This is Miami. And I know that they're not looking so fantastic right now. They just had a shellacking actually, at the hands of the Jazz. The other night, but essentially, they returned everybody and they may be in the same bucket as the subject in terms of the wear and tear of last year and the shortened off season and all that may ultimately never allowed them to be entirely great. Um, but I love Jimmy Brother and that group was in the finals like maybe that's a two sides of that coin like they were playing late in But you know the east to me? Yes. Then that's may have the most town of bitterness. And I planned defense consistently yet. They're not even interested. And so to me, even though I'm with you on the bus and the Celtics like that Top four Top five group, they're gonna beat each other up. So if Miami slides in later, though, they've got the mental toughness. Yeah, it's hot at the right time anyway. Yeah, that the championship medal they need Tyler hero and Players like that to step up and play the way they did in the bubble will straight ahead. We are getting close to March. It's Valentine's Day. It's February 14th. And you know what That means. We've got that next college hoops on Game night. I'm Aaron Goldhammer. She's Monica McNutt. It's ESPN radio, ESPN app. The doctor made a sensational play Rock the baby. And what is this.

"A different story than if it's Game seven of the West. Do you know Eastern Conference Finals? You know that you really have to watch every single play because you've been waiting your whole life for this. If it's an NBA game in February. I'm sorry you could do some chit chatting during the game. So you're too intense for me. If you can't carry on it mid game conversation under those conditions, I will say basketball is a little different, but I don't think I don't think he will be talking to me at any Washington football game. Like I just don't think it will help yourself there. 16 of those like, you know, there's you know, so so the stakes are always higher. So maybe we should take NFL out of this, too, because in addition to wardrobe, we have to talk about alcohol can something here. Do you drink when you watch sports, and now we work in sports. So obviously you know when we're working, we're not drinking. But you go to a game. You went to Georgetown, you go toe. Hoyos men's game is a fan. Do you get a beer of the game? Yes or no? Okay, so I'm not the best person Ask this because I don't drink Except for when I'm on vacation. Okay, so I don't drink. But my I'm out with my friends. Yeah, especially if we're like I mean, not not me, but they do. Yeah, but the thing about that they'll go home is everything is so expensive. It is. It appears like the beers like $9, but but so expensive, But I don't feel like it again. It's this is everybody's individual romantic choices. The person that gets plastered at like a February. You know, I'm in Cleveland, February calves and bucks like you. Really? You know what? Age range, But, yeah, I guess I guessed it, I guess, but to two beers at the game has to be you Go back for a third beer where you get mad. Because it's the baseball game, and it's after the seventh inning where they won't serve you any more beer that says a lot about you. All right? You teased it, So I want to get Aaron Goldhammer. Monica. Make that with you. Game night, ESPN radio ESPN app. The question is a sporting event. A good date. And if you want to jump in with us Triple eight, say ESPN. Is our Goodyear hotline. That's 887293776 is a sporting event. A good date? Yes or no curious your thoughts on this, Monica, You had wardrobe thoughts that I really want to get from you. So so go ahead. So I am I am now 31. I will say in the past one, I dated a guy that we had We appreciate it. Rival teams, which was like kinda hilarious but kind of fun. There was a there was a time in my life where I would do heels to a basketball game. Since we're just going with basketball. I'm now I'm not a full on jersey for my team. I think for us working in sports is like a little weird. I might do something subliminal with the team logo, but I wouldn't pull up with a whole Bill jersey to the game. Um, I think For women like the wardrobe Things gets even trickier because, you know, the NBA crowd can be a little stylish designer. This is under that high heel or you gotta work your heavy heat sneakers, right? Okay, But some of some of this is Are you up in loud ville, or are your seats courtside cause courtside CNB scene Then you wanna rock your heels. If you're up in the rafters, then I think you're wearing you're wearing your hand that well, that's one thing. How would that out now? How the guy handled that would tell you a lot. Ah, whole lot or you don't catch me, right? Exactly. But you know up in the rafters, I would say, you know, maybe you break out the Bradley Beal Jersey. You break out the Collins sexed in Jersey. What would really impress me, though, is Like from a cab stand point. Like, if, if you had like the Mark Price Jersey or the Brad Dougherty like the throwback, then you're showing me that you're a real fan like a bonified fan. What about going to our college events? Because I have a super fly like throwback Georgetown Hoyas sweatshirt that I found on eBay. Who's my My model? Right? So I'm a matter. I'm all in like, Give me blue and gray. I might do some nail polish that day like I'm all in Yeah, even though they're struggling. Yes, so But if you obviously didn't go to my school, but we're going to my own mother game like to me that says a lot of about loyalty to Triple eight. Say ESPN. It's dated 87293776 Andrew in Florida. You're on ESPN Radio on Game night. What's up? Andrew is a sporting event. A good date. Yes or no. One yet they great day. Um, but I very literally just have the same conversation are having with my wife. Call it off 20 minutes ago. Okay, please share and I am a season ticket holders Orlando City. I'm a season ticket holder for the buck on. I don't have a magic eye. I got everything when USC comes to town on that USC from a huge sports fan. I'll bring her with me and the first time she she went to come with me to a Gator game. So season ticket holder for the Gators, she she wanted a dress real fancy. It was a noon game, you September Gainesville? Oh, no, I won't tell the picture that humidity picked up two degrees like it's no joke. Her face was on her shirt by the end it by the kickoff. Yes, if you like. Why don't you tell me I was like I did tell you I told you multiple times probably has a bad idea. And but but even to this day, and we've been married now for eight years, But even to this day, like Saturday night, we went out and watched the tomorrow Zeman. Gilbert Burns fight and you wanted to wear Feels when we went out and I told her we're going to go on for a long time. Your party and you heard it for a little bit, you know? Really gone for a while, and by the end of the night, the hell our household, the heels or feet were picked up on the Romney lost putting up, but that's but that's Angela. Hold on. That's a good test for you, Andrew. And then is she like screaming at the TV during the fight, Because I have some respect for that someone that can get into it a little bit yell at the raps chanted the opposing team! Right, And none of that happened. I'm fully with you 1000 great. If that happened now they're in the Super Bowl, and I'm freaking out over the bus. She was all in on it. But as far as this everything else, like whether it's Orlando City or USC or whatever. She's kind of just sitting there going, okay? How much longer till it's over and I'm going. Come on. You said you stay with us. Come on now. So I think that Zack actually a good story because I had a similar experience when I'm thank you for the call, and that was a great call Andrew. He's a Tennessee guy and I remember being super busy, but I told him I would come join Them at this bar in New York. The whole thing and like what I did appreciate is that it felt like he was really bringing me into his world. This is like when we first started dating..

"I'm a hammer Nation 19. You could follow Monica. Make not Monica and Monica. Just when it seemed like the Nets were getting it all together. Get the big win last night over stepping the Warriors Cady back in the day he's out. He's going to miss the next two games. It's a left hamstring strain. With his team. There is having a tough time like finding their roles in their rhythm this year, literally and I was just complimenting them. One string together two whole games of playing some defense and now Katie's out Now. Admittedly, he didn't play against the Pacers, either, Eh? So hopefully the defense is trying to stay on the track, but their schedule moving forward. We are about to get some potential preview action of Finals, depending on who you're talking to. So this is yeah. You know, there's a lot going on in Brooklyn and I don't know if it's only winning. I think you know, direct is their most indispensable player. And to me. I know he plays with two other, you know, M V p level guys, but I think he's in the M V P conversation right now, and I've been so impressed. Just How he's played when he's been out there, But you know how many stints in covert protocol and then how many injuries is he going to face and this is a team that really like doesn't have a traditional coaching situation to help them. Figure a lot of this stuff out. We find out last night that James Harden and Kyrie Irving have decided who's playing point guard and who's playing shooting guard? I guess Kyrie went to harden and said, You're the point guard and I'm the shooting guard Monica. Does this matter like a it is. Are they going to have a clear vision of who they are? Because They've determined which guard plays in which spot You know, I don't want to be little this right? But I did personally was very sick of the argument. Oh, there's only one basketball like congratulations, you lazy fart of a basketball analyst like that's the stupidest thing you could say about these Sounds like one of my takes. Yeah. Aaron, please don't. Don't start with that, I will say. For the sake of continuity. I think there's a couple things that happened this week that are worth noting. When we look at this decision, James Harden's conversation with Rachel Nichols in which he said he was looking forward to facilitating and talked specifically about the drain of being the guy. For so long with the Houston Rockets, eh? So that's one thing that I think you notice and then two for carry off the ball. Just think. Many of all of those three. The guy that probably does best with a clear defined role is Kyra. If that makes sense on it's funny because as you were talking about Katie's numbers, and they're fantastic, and he looks Back, which is scary. If Katie is kind of in this conversation of M v P. Do you have to then also consider harder being in this conversation because he's the one arguably facilitating now granted, Katie's getting all the buckets with 16 assists the other night like Mm s o. I think that this is good for Kyrie more than anything, and I think you know everybody had the question of who's gonna take the shot toward the end of the game. If they all agree that James is the best playmaker. Then he has the ball. Then the shot is gonna be taken by the right person because they all are elite basketball players and have tremendous respect for the game at least offensively for sure. Game night ESPN radio ESPN APP. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Monica McKnight. I harkened back when You know, Hardened and Kyrie were saying this, you know, LeBron was really the point guard in Cleveland at and the center and the coach and the general manager and the owner and the mayor. But LeBron was really the point guard. He is the guy who did a lot of the facilitating and that's when you know, maybe Kyrie didn't put up the best numbers. But that's when Kyrie did the most winning of his career plan to and I think that James Harden is a better playmaker. So I kind of liked this idea. Let's listen back. This is the post game press conference last night back and forth between Kyrie and ESPN is Mallika Andrews, Take a listen Doing a great job is managing the point. Our role. You know, we established that maybe four days to go down. I just looked at him. I said you're the point guard and I'm gonna play shooting guard and that was a simple is up. So he's been taking control of the responsibilities and doing an incredible job just makes my job easy to just go out and play play free and just make place, so it's a luxury. You want to continue? It is not a mental change for you, or is it just a natural fit that you fell into to say? All right, your point guard. I'm shooting guard. Let's do it. I'll put it on so many levels of basketball, but this one really good. This is just figuring it out in terms of ah, in terms of as a competitive, so it's fun. So fun challenge. You know, there's not every night doesn't look good. So when it does look good. Celebrate our performance and, you know, just wanna have consistency after that. Carry with Malika Andrews. Aaron Goldhammer, Monica McDuck Game Night, ESPN radio ESPN app one of the things that strikes me Monica about that, back and forth isn't the coach of the Nets. Back to back n b a. M v p who should have some role in helping figure this whole thing out. Wait, Go Hammer. You missed it. Did you not hear the side of this summer? We don't need a cultural coaches like then we need to go back to that Would all jokes aside. Um That's an interesting point that you make. But I also think the point that you made about Cleveland is important, too. And we saw Carrie as the man and the playmaker didn't go so well in Boston, whether you attribute that to him or the fact that you had up and coming talent, which we now see in this Boston organization, that kind of bristled at the idea of Oh, you come back from injury, And now you think we need you? Um I, You know, Carrie made it sound very simple. And I think the purest state of the game is when we make it simple and you have somebody At James, like James Harden as a luxury on your squad. Don't overcomplicate. Things just play to guard. But I would also argue that as diarrhea is coming into his own and thinking of all things beyond basketball, he also has a new appreciation for defined roles and allowing people to play to their strengths. It didn't work out for him and Boston as the one On DSA. Now he's trying to win. This is what I got to do when I'm the shooting guard. Yeah, it's interesting. You know, you bring up the Celtics boy. They are a mess. Right now. They're seven and nine on the road there 13 and 13. They are a 500 team overall. After they really put on a terrible performance, probably their worst game of the year. Today in Washington against the Wizards, they lose one of 4 91 look at Jason Tatum stat line by the three of 14. He scored six points. He only got to the foul line once what is wrong with the Celtics? Mm. Mean, Kimba said. They're.

"About it all show The amount of quarterback movement that we at least have built up to believe will happen over the next couple weeks as we are one month and three days removed from the start of free agency, But two days before that, the Legal tampering period window opens, which I think is the funniest name in sports, but At the end of all of this. How many quarterbacks Will have moved. And how money dear guests really Overall, how many teams will have new starters in your opinion of the 18 or so that have been thrown out? There is potentially to be on the move. I'm going 15. 15 quarterbacks. Yeah, I know it's a lot, but I'm expecting something. That's the league. I know. It's great. I'm going 15 and total And obviously there are all kinds of wild cards along the way. Whether it's whatever the bears decide to do whether Carson Wentz goes to a third team that we haven't talked about that much Besides Chicago or Indianapolis. You know what happens with the Patriots and average with Washington football team who, you know, there is sort of the middle of the draft order so not in a great spot to select a top prospects. But Also needing a quarterback or at least some depth at the position. What happens to a guy like Cam Newton, a. Ryan Fitzpatrick or Andy Dalton? There are all kinds of what ifs in the quarterback caress. I'm going 15 Courtney. Man, That's that's more than I would say I was I was thinking, maybe like 10 because it just never feels like I know it's not gonna be very fun, and I feel like I've overdramatized this so I'm setting myself up for failure. But Man 15. If we're talking about that, then that is a new look NFL in 2021. We've got to get out of here. Game nights. Coming up next on ESPN Radio. "Son wanting Murphy, The same guy who got the pictures to against the saints was the one on the play, and it looked like Yeah, like he said that he had some holding which in turn it around. Look, I'm for replay to get it, right. That's what bothered me last week with your game with the brand. I know you've talked this to death between the Browns and the chief. You're you're supposed to get it right. So if there's a key player, that's a key player in the game, they gonna turn over to get in touch in a 21 to 10. Maybe the game is over. I'm not a big replay guy. Just because I think from a technology standpoint, it should be faster. But I am forgetting it right. So if you could give a coach let's say you get one. Like they do in the N B. A. You get one. I don't care what it is, You get one, So if it's a holding play there that could change the game. If it's a play, that's helmet, the helmet. Obviously in your game, ironically enough, right before the half same kind of a situation right that could decide the game. You don't know when the game's gonna be decided, and that's the issue I have, and the point is to get it right and the reason why this live replay was brought in. Anyway was because Vinny Testaverde wasn't over the line. That was the most egregious air of that game when he was playing for the Jets against the Seahawks. If it's the most egregious error of the game, let my coach decide when it is. Yeah, and I think to you know, you brought up egregious like it should be obvious things. You know this past interference holding call that we're talking about. Pretty blatant, Miss. You know, I'm not talking about, you know, zooming in with incredible technology to see if the tippy toe of somebody is out of bounds. Don't like I don't like using replay in those situations. I like using it in when there is a blatant, obvious mistake, and I thought this was playing an obvious but the Packers really have nobody to blame for being in this situation other than themselves. They didn't play a clean half. They dropped a touchdown pass. They threw an interception, and they played incredibly dumb defense on the last play, And that's why they're down by 11 points and why now? They really need their M v P to rescue them on this first drive and make this a one score game again. It's game day on ESPN Radio and ESPN have John Lund, Aaron Goldhammer 21 10 at the half The Buccaneers lead the Packers and again a miracle deep touchdown pass to Scotty Miller from Tom Brady got behind Kevin King, which is six seconds left in the half. An unforgivable mistake 14 to 10, but just a Talk about your point for a minute. You can't complain much when you give up that play when you give up seven of 10 on third down what have one on fourth down 235 yards in the first half. If you can't do that 7.1 yards Her play for the defense for the For the Green Bay Packers. They've got to go in, and Aaron Rodgers can only do so much. He hit his first seven passes. 14th 19 1 69 Like you said controversial interception. It has not been on Aaron Rodgers. Having said that. If they lose this game, it will be on Aaron Rodgers. It will be on Kevin King. To an extent There's no question, but we had the legacy discussion before this game started. You win or lose games Tom Brady will move on Aaron Rodgers will not is still only have the one Super Bowl win. And regardless, Kevin King's mistake will be for gotten five years from now. Probably except for everybody in Green Bay. And they'll blame Aaron Rodgers for the loss. That's how it works. Is there a way this is? Roger's Last game is a Packer if they lose Why not? If he he could have played better in the first half. But he is for seven. Not if he plays this way. Now, if in the second half Rogers is completely throws two or three interceptions. Yeah. Then then some people someone will write. Jordan Love his first round pick. Aaron Rodgers didn't get it done in the playoffs. Maybe they need to take a look. I think that would be ludicrous, but I think it's going to be ready and they might say, you know, it might be positioned to this way does does Rogers want out? You know what he wants to go play somewhere else. And also, what could you get for every Rogers? If you liked Jordan love like we think to Shawn Watson would not a lot in part because he's younger. But he hasn't proven what Aaron Rodgers has proven. You know, this one player away from the Super Bowl thing like I think about the team that I cover right? The grounds if the Browns had Aaron Rodgers instead of Baker Mayfield Now everyone here is high on Baker Mayfield. Then he had a great end to the season. But if you throw Aaron Rodgers with Nick Chubb, Odell, Jarvis Landry and Are you? Are you a Super Bowl favorite? I mean, someone would have to think that way. If the Packers got to that point, I think the immediate moves now if they lose this game, I think the defensive coordinator is gonna lose his job. The way the last two championship games have gone. Last year. I mean, you know, Jimmy Garoppolo didn't have to throw a pass for 2.5 quarters. And the 40 Niners ran for. I'm sure you know it off the top of your head. How many yards did the Niners run for In the end? I know where he most it ran for 2 20. I know that Jimmy Garoppolo through eight passes in a championship game, completing 60 Day one, Okay. It was ridiculous. Let me go back to point from it. I don't think fans sometimes understand what championship Windows are Baker Mayfield younger and you could have him for 10 years. But the point is to win a championship, especially in a city like yours. Aaron Rodgers is 37 given what Drew Brees and Tom Brady and others can do. He's probably got five years left there in a championship window right now. I'm not saying that Baker Mayfield isn't the better guy for 10 years. Aaron Rodgers is the neck is the best guy for the next five. I don't know what he would get in comparison Tol Watson for the same reason, because Watson's could be around, maybe for 10 years for your team, But if you're in a championship window, there's gonna be a dogfight. If somebody is stupid enough to say maybe we should trade Aaron Rodgers because the first half hasn't been his fault. Yeah, No, I I don't think so. I mean, the interception wasn't pretty. And you know, we thought he's now thrown three against the bucks, right and three against everybody else, you know, so Tampa's doing something special to Aaron Rodgers to force him into some of those mistakes. And I think to get back in this game. Yes, they need to drive right here. And they need Rogers to step up right here with this first drive out of the half, but I think they also may need to turn over of their own to sort of swing the moment. Um back on their side. They're not out of it. Their offense has played pretty well. But I'm curious to see the lasting impact of that boneheaded Kevin King, Mike Pet and played and the half and how that's going to affect the Packers now going forward. I would just say this that if the Packers don't score for there is another turnover here. Some kind of a pick six. This game is over because they're hanging their heads. They're looking for something from Aaron Rodgers. And if he can't deliver, it's gonna be tough in the second half Fucking is leading 21 to 10 in the NFC championship game will keep you up to date on that, But we did this for the NFC. So we've got to do it for the A F. C. Call your shot a F C Championship edition. We'll do it. Next. It's Game day on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. Hackers Bucks Josh Allen has to find the honey Badger because he could.

"Of him of Bruce Smith on Keyshawn J Will and Zubin Sheeps working running back Clyde Edwards a layer Likely to play tonight, returning from a hip and ankle injury Lady on Belle likely out with a knee injury shot, Watson is still expected to one out of Houston, reports ESPN Chris Mortensen with the Excellent decision on the new head Coach not expected you for Swede wants his thinking or desire to stay. Greg Olsen, announcing his retirement after 13 NFL seasons of three time Pro Bowl tied at one final in the MBA. Raptors beat the Pacers 10712. Coming up Monday. It's NFL championship weekend. The Packers must get off to a better start than they did the first time against the Bucks. But can they, Keyshawn J. Will and Zubin Monday six Eastern on ESPN radio. You cannot let that happen. It is the Cardinal sin. It's game day on ESPN Radio and ESPN have John Lund Aaron Goldhammer. Tell your smart speaker to play ESPN halftime at Lambeau Field, The Buccaneers lead 21 to 10. 21 to 10 If you left early, maybe you went to go get some snacks. Maybe you ran into Barrows. 14 10. Nothing's gonna happen. Oh, did you miss out six seconds left. The Buccaneers have a first down. 39 yard line, So it's a 56 yard field goal would be for Ryan Suck up, They packers. Obviously thinking it's gonna be quick out. Maybe a five yard out pattern. Get out of bounds. Try to get closer for the field goal. Oh, no, no, no, no. Tom Brady throws deep with six seconds left. Uh, Scotty Miller gets behind Kevin King and the and the panic and King as he sees it, that ball is gonna go over his head and remind me of the Ravens and Broncos. The team or the Bronco's not deep enough. Scotty Miller halls in with one second left instead of 14 10. It's 21 10. Now the Packers do get the ball, but that's a cardinal sin. And could be one that you've obviously check Mark put something by and at the end of the game, you go go, and I don't mean greatest of all time. I mean horns. Well, John a couple things about this. Play one. It's a terrible defensive call By Mike Patton. It's a fireable mistake by the defensive coordinator. Because he wasn't thinking. Hail Mary. There was one deep safety on the field, and there were like seven guys around the line of scrimmage when Brady let the ball go, so there was no deep safety help for Kevin King there at all. He just left him man to man in a Hail Mary situation. What are you doing? That play will get a defensive coordinator fired. And then if you're Kevin King, and you know, you know that if he catches the ball at the one yard line, you can tackle him. You just cannot let anybody get behind you. You have to be deeper than the deepest if you're playing defensive back in that spot And for that to work, you know, the Buccaneers had gone for the fourth down just before that play instead of punting. When a lot of people thought they should have punted, we've got Greg Williams made the dumbest defensive move of the whole year when he blitz the Raiders. Derek Carr through that touchdown pass back in week. 13. I think the NFL season this defensive call was as dumb by Mike Patton. And if the Packers go on to lose, I think he and Kevin King will be looking for jobs somewhere else next year. Well, the Buccaneers take a seven zip lead. The Buccaneers got the ball first time it right down the field. They think a seven simply, Tom Brady throws a 15 yard touchdown to Mike Evans. After a couple of possessions. The Packers, they responded Marquez Valdas, camping at a 50 yard touchdown in his 77. On the game, and then the Buccaneers lead 14 10, and that's when we have this. This moment, The Packers actually had the ball with two minutes left. We thought maybe they could double up, at least get a field full of not going to touch down there were deep in their own territory with about two minutes left. In this thing, they have to put it over the Buccaneers and again. Looks like the Buccaneers might settle for the 56 yarder was first down, maybe try to do a quick out. But again, they go deep to Scotty Miller, and it's 21 to 10. At the half. It makes obviously the first possession for the Packers to me extremely important, because right now you're in the locker room. You're depressed. You're down If you come out, it's 21 17. Fine. But if you go three and out, you put it back to the Buccaneers. Let's say they get a touchdown. They're up two touchdowns. You start hanging your head. I think this first possession for the Packers is absolutely huge might be for the game. And I think the Packers composure here is really going to be tested, You know? Can they overcome this bit of adversity because I know it's not full. But Lambeau Field has got to be stunned. Right now, by the way, that half went and a weak minded team would allow this to just cave in on themselves. So ah, Lot of this is on Rogers, but it's also on Matt Leflore. Can they keep their composure? Can they stay calm and stay focused? Because You know they're down 11, but they do have the M V P quarterback on their side. They're totally not out of this game. But you know, we thought turnovers. We're going to be key. We thought whoever ran the ball better would be important. And Tampa is winning in all of those areas. They're running. They're running the ball better. They're converting third downs. Their quarterback has played a little bit better, and Rodgers threw the interception, which sets up Touched down at the end of the half. I thought on that play that there was pretty blatant pass interference called John that there wasn't called, but I thought that was committed. And to me, this is where a sky judge or making everything reviewable making the replay system simpler and cleaner really would help on a play like that, because to me it was It was pretty blatant that there was AH, hold on. Have a bay that did not get called a pulling of the jersey and it turns into an interception. And then they end up converting the miracle touchdown pass that never should have happened completely inexcusable for Green Bank..

"Our v A. V. Goodyear Hotline. John Lund. Aaron Goldhammer kept quick update on the NFC championship game Buccaneers and Tom Brady lied Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. 14 to 10. It could be tied at 14 Davante Adams with a rare drop in the end zone on the Packers last possession and then a third down stop by the Packers gets them the ball back, so they're deep in their own territory, but two minutes left You pointed this out Aaron. They could double up here. If they could get a score here. They get the second half kickoff, right. They have two time outs and the two minute warning, but they're starting deep in their own territory. Red zone is a big difference in this game. Tampa has scored when they've gotten down there touchdowns both times. And the Packers, of course, had the three place to Davante Adams that they couldn't convert for a touchdown and they had to settle for a field goal. So that's the difference in the game. The other big thing I'm looking at here seven for nine on third down Tampa in the first half. Mike Patton in the Green Bay Defense, John They're gonna have to make some third down adjustments and get off the field a little bit more. A couple of those were third and longs and I know it's tough against Tom Brady. But Campus. Ability to convert on third down has been a huge difference so far in this first half lives. No doubt that you can. You don't even have to look at the scoreboard. If you look at third downs, if you look at red zones, and if you could look at big plays, if you add those up, and one team is dominant over another. You're gonna win the football game, an interesting situation to the Packers. The Buccaneers could have called the time out there and they could've got the ball back, but it looks like they're not going to the Packers will continue. We'll keep you up to date on the game. It will also continue to talk about the A F C championship game later on between the bills. And the Kansas City Chiefs from Arrowhead Stadium. But we're having a conversation earlier, the Miami heat. I don't know how this technology works. I have no idea. Dogs are incredible. So the Miami Heat claimed they have dogs that can sniff. For covert 19 no idea how this works. Sniffer, covert 19th. So the question is What would it take to get you back into an arena in a stadium? Are you already ready to go? Are you waiting for the vaccine? Are you waiting for others to go? Are you waiting for dogs who could sniff covert 19? How would you? How would you phrase where you are, As far as if you could go back in with the masses that you would go well in Cleveland? It's very different than where you are in San Francisco, John because here we're letting fans into the basketball arena about 2500. And we went through a brown season where there were fans at every single game, But I have not been to a sporting event since the beginning of the pandemic for everybody. This is different, right? Everybody sees this thing differently. Everybody's a different age. They come into contact with different people. Their level of risk is totally different. John for me. I've got to get the two doses of the vaccine before I'm going back to these games. And I think that owners realize that there is enough. There are enough people that were willing to risk it, especially outdoors. But the tricky thing for the heat for for these inside NBA games is I don't care how good the ventilation is. Just my constitution. My insides tell me that being outside is safer for covert than being inside and to go to a mass event like this indoors here. I'm probably wait until I get two doses of vaccine before I'm mask up and go back to an NBA game as much as I miss it as much as I want to be there I have. I have been too numerous 40 Niners game. It's I Dupri in post game for the 40 Niners out here in the Bay Area, and it is the weirdest thing ever to be in a game in which it's a professional game, and there are no fans. It feels like a scrimmage. There is no Mo mentum one way or the other one. A team makes a big score. They scored on a 76 yard touchdown. And it didn't matter that there was fake noise and all these kind of things early in the season, there was no Mo mentum. The Arizona Cardinals came back. No problem. There is no intimidation factor, and I don't care If there's a small amount of fans and you're pumping a bunch of noise in in Kansas City today, it would be vastly different. If you had a bunch of lubed up people going into Arrowhead, save him and screaming their heads off and doing the chance and all the different things that they do. It's just vastly different. What happens with the opposition is and I've done it in MBA arenas have been there, too. Just there's no intimidation. You go on a 10 hour run. No problem. We're fine. It's like you're just you're playing in a neutral site, with with no energy or momentum going either way, and sometimes it takes the home team to wake up for a minute. At least it did early in the NFL season to say we make a big play. There's no momentum. We've got to continue this. It's going to be all on us. That's been the most difficult part. Would go to an outdoor arena and feel pretty well about it, depending obviously on what the parameters were indoor arenas like you just said I'm not there yet. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not there yet for an indoor arena because they've told you that the outside and for obvious reasons. You're less likely so outside arenas I would start to feel comfortable inside. Aries is gonna take me a while. Dogs are just the best. How can a dog sniff you and be able to sense that you have the that is amazing to me. And I wonder like if there's a certain part of your body that exudes the scent, so like do you like if it's your face, like do you have to get down on the floor so that the dog can sniff your face before they'd let you in the building that Z. I gotta see how these dogs the covert sniffing dogs work. I got to see that in action, but apparently it's it's for real. The other part of this, you brought up Especially for the N B, a in the NFL the reason to go to the game. Isn't just to witness it in person. It's to witness it in person with 60,000 of your closest friends, so they want to feel that energy that Horsing vibe that you get out of the walk off home run. Just got hit. Right for the big touchdown pass just got thrown or LeBron on the breakaway throws down that Duncan. Everybody like rises as one and I would think that to be in these vast arenas with just a couple of people. I would almost rather watch it at home, then be there in person, because it feels that could be just a constant reminder of the pandemic. Trust me. I have enough reminders in my life of what's going on this country right now. I don't need another one game be on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. When would you go back into an arena in Miami? The heat have Covert 19 sniffing dogs. I just know this. I am honestly I want to go to anything and I'm telling you, I'm not sure I want to go to a concert. You know what? I'm not gonna lie to you early in this whole process. I invited my ex wife over. That's how desperate I was to have some sort of adult interaction. And everybody who has kids at home schooling right now knows exactly. I just want to talk to adults. Even if she screams at me and tells me what a loser I am. Any kind of interaction, and I'm still nervous to go to a game right now. Not sure. Oh, I am. So that's where I am right. I've had days. I've had days like that, too. Haven't we all gave me on ESPN radio on the ESPN app coming up. We gotta look at the AMC championship game. We'll update you. It's almost half time in the NFC championship game in the A F. C. "Jamison Hensley joins us. You just got off a zoom called Jameson. Guys trying to wrap their head around what happened in this game. Let's start, though, with Lamar Jackson because we saw after you know, after he throws the pick six later on. He has the concussion in the end zone. When he is sacked. He leaves the game. He does not return. Do you have any update on kind of the status of where Lamar is right now? And just kind of what happened. Yeah, Only one player said he had spoken to Lamar now is wide receiver Willie Snead. He said that Lamar's frustrated but he's going to be all all right. He said that Mark told him that he's fine from the concussion, but he's just frustrated. He wasn't able to be out there and finish out the game. And you kind of sense that When you saw have walking into the locker room, he he kind of threw up his hands a little bit. You know, you could just tell he was he was frustrated and not being able to He had worked so hard to get this team to this position, and it was such a tough game for the entire offense to that point, but for him, not be able to even try to attempt to come back on now, that's gonna be weighing on him tonight, and probably throughout the whole season. Jamison I can project with this offseason narrative about Lamar is going to be scored 15 points in his team's last two elimination games. He did finally win a playoff game for the first time in his career this year. But what is fair and what is unfair about this? Bullet train of a narrative that's coming about Lamar Jackson. I think what's fair is that it might. It doesn't necessarily have to be put all in the bar Jackson's soldiers, but the rain's just need to find a way to get the more explosive offensively. I mean, they've showed they could run the ball, and it could be dominant in front of the boy. 16 stretch heading into this game. They ran the ball more than you know, rushing total, whether anybody else in NFL history but that's all I'm gonna take you so far and this all season. You saw Buffalo Bills Get Stefan digs for Josh. Alan, you saw Arizona Get DeAndre Hopkins for Colin Murray, the biggest acquisition a source wide receiver for Baltimore with Dez Bryant. He was out of the league for two years, so they need to address wide receiver. They need to get more playmakers for Lamar Jackson because you saw when teams do that for young quarterbacks. It helps their development. So again, I think the narrative will be Hey, he needs to prove as a passer, but I think everybody that's involved in. This also understands that the Ravens we're gonna have to do some things to help him along the way. Game night on ESPN Radio and the ESPN APP Cordy Cronin. Aaron Goldhammer joined now by ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley. What do they need to do? Because we've seen this like next step thing each of the last few years where you know, Lamar wins the M V p last year, and he's terrific in the regular season, but then they Take a step back when they run into the Titans, and they just completely fall apart offensively this year, it felt like they were trying to make some tweaks and changes to preserve Lamar more than anything else on Dino. You were just talking about, like, puts and weapons around him, so maybe they'll heed that advice this offseason, but Is it a matter of scheme? Is it something that you think great that would fall more on Greg Roman shoulders to figure out a better way to use his quarterback, whereas, yeah, they went through a lot of ups and downs in the regular season this year in away taking a step back, but No, the way that they played last week against the Titans, enough to get it done to be able to get to this point. What is it gonna take for them to actually win now in the divisional playoffs in advance of the A F C championship game, should they get back? Yeah, you know, one night as I kind of looked a little bit earlier. Just they do need add a more experienced wide receivers. They need to address it in the draft as well. They also the offensive line. I mean, I believe that Warren Jackson was pushing 55% of the on his drop back, so I am. He seemed like he was just I mean, every time he stepped back, he was kind of moving around dancing around. I mean, it's like dancing around the pocket just to try to get some time to throw the ball and this offense of line and I was talking to some people heading into this game. And there was a kind of feeling like Just under the line has kind of over achieved throughout the whole year. I mean, they had lost their all pro left tackle Ronnie Stanley to a season ending ankle injury on they had to shuffle some guys around. But you look I mean, You're the left. Left guard is badly. Those men who was 1/6 round pick their center is Patrick. Are you as an undrafted rookie? The right guard is 1/4 round pick their You know their You know the right tackle D J Fluker probably be playing for many teams out there so They need to address and also improve the office line. I think sometimes and the Ravens put so much investment in the defensive side because I think sometimes they feel was law. Jackson with his skill set. You could just make players better around him. I think they have to come to realization that they still need to give him they need to give him a better pass protection. They need to give him guys that could get open, sir. How many times did we see him tonight? In fact, there's one was pressure, then look down the field. No one's Open s. Oh, there's only so much for Mark Jackson could do And I think that the offensive the offensive size of all is where they really need to concentrate. It's for us. Created editions that and they do have small cap room than they had in the past few seasons and then also in the draft. They need toe address either the offensive line or put some more weapons, at least on the wide receiver on the outside for him. Jameson. Do you think they're going to give Lamar a big contract extension here or do you think they will just pick up his fifth year option? Um, you know again, he the fifth year option, I think is is definitely in play. Just because I mean, you saw under contract for next year, and they have toe at least kind of. Say yes is they're gonna pick up stick your absolute. I think everyone please. They're gonna do. Um, I think if you would have won this game and put them in the championship game It would have been extreme pressure on on the organization to give Mark Jackson an extension by not doing that, and the offense only put three point struggling through missed the game..

"So I think it's as they look ahead is great. Roman looks ahead as they try to do this with Lamar Jackson Knight. I do think he is a top quarterback. But I just don't know if he's one of the five guys that I would want down by 14 points to bring my team back, and I think that's an element that you have to have in order to go on a Super Bowl run. No, I think you're right. I think when you look at like the top You know the teams that make it to a F C an NFC championship weekend, just looking at the balance that they have offensively you're not going to find one that is completely you know. One way versus you know a team that's the other way. Yes, people gonna talk about the Eagles in 2017 their past first offense, but they could run the ball when they had to the year that they went to the Super Bowl Buffalo tonight. Hasn't been running the ball all that effectively and, yeah, they haven't really needed to in spite of the weather conditions, But you know that they still can and you know that you have a quarterback who could help you in that element, But you have to be more balanced than that. Like that's way. You never understand teams that have with these philosophies of run first or pass first, like whatever happened to balance like, Because look at all those years of the Patriots went to the Super Bowl. Why did they do that? Because they were balancing and really good defense is That's the key. I mean, football is a complementary game. That's what that's what it takes in order to reach the postseason in order to get far in the postseason, and I think that that's still you know what the what the Ravens are trying to work through here, especially offensively because their defense I don't think that's really the issue like but offensively they've How to be able to figure that out. As Lemar Jackson gets you no further on it into his career, if when you especially now that we're gonna be heading into the offseason soon, probably for the Ravens. We think about a contract extension for him and what that entails. How much you'll get paid. All that is here. Franchise guy certainly is, but No. You don't want to waste those early years where this is certainly for someone who takes his many heads as he does, And you know is in that position where he is a very mobile but running quarterback. You've got to try toe preserve that longevity for us long as you can, and that involves a better passing attack. Ravens don't score on fourth and goal Buffalo takes over and they're gonna win this game and move on and eliminate the Baltimore Ravens out of the A F. C playoffs. It looks like 2 30 to go. Those have the ball up 17 to 3 and again. Lamar Jackson left this game early with a concussion and has been ruled out for the remainder of a game night. ESPN radio ESPN app. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Courtney Cronin. You know what's crazy Courtney coming into this season. Off of his M V P year, everybody. Lamar Jackson is the quarterback you'd want out of the 2018 draft class. What's funny is at least going into tomorrow. The number one pick in the draft. Baker Mayfield is still in the playoffs. Josh Alan moves on to the A F C championship game. If you had to have one going forward for your franchise, take the money out of it. Take the contracts out of it. Lamar, Josh, Alan or Baker? Who would you want on Courtney Cronin's NFL team? That's I hate this question. Is it so hard? I would probably still go with Josh Alan. I mean, I know that I said Lamar, I thought that you know, he said they were my pick in this game, but Josh Alan, and the improvement he made from 2019 toe where he's at now, what did it take? Take it Take it took added Sto, adding could speak. Stefan digs into the mix for him, giving him more weapons on the outside. And all of a sudden he stepped up his game in terms of Q B. R in terms of accuracy, completion percentage the whole thing. And he's somebody who could scramble and he's somebody who's not afraid you can, you know, create design runs for take him out of the pocket. All of that. I think he's probably the most complete these. He's also got the most complete team. Minus the chiefs of any team that I'm looking at left in the A F. C playoff, So I'm going with the mark Jackson ever sees. I'm going with Josh Allen. Lamar Jax. You could make an argument for Baker Mayfield after you my number two just given Level of improvement that we saw from rookie year in 2018 with all those touchdowns and said the rookie record for passing touchdowns that year than you know, kind of the ups and downs and ups and downs and finally finding some stability. In that play Action offense with Kevin Stefanski and what he's been able to instill in 2020 season. I might take Lamar Third and this again is no insult to him in that group Also. Remember Baker Senso Del went down just before Halloween has 19 touchdown passes and one interception. He has been arguably during the second half of this season. Right there with Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in all of football. So it looks like the bill is going to advance the NFC Championship game. Courtney Trivia. The last time the Bills played in the A F. C championship, they played against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he guesses as to who the chief's quarterback was that day. Oh, man that's going to be. I think I was before I was born, So I honestly have no clue. Joe Montana was quarterback before I was part of the city Chiefs. The last time the bills played for Day F C championship, and it looks like They're going to do just that. Next Sunday. Coming up next l a season is Donna. Where to the Rams go from here. We debate. I'm Aaron Goldhammer with Courtney Cronus. Game night, ESPN radio, ESPN app. ESPN radio in the undefeated Celebrate.

"J. Willens even join us on the Goodyear hotline. So this weekend is weak 17 in the NFL lot of playoff implications for a lot of different football teams. No doubt about that. But the agency has got some interesting things going on, especially Browns and the Steelers. So There are five teams that are 10 and five in the A. F. C that are looking to get in with four playoff spots. One of those would be the Browns. The Browns could have locked it up. But in the postseason had they just be in the Jets last weekend. That did not happen, mostly because they were missing their entire wide receiving corps, essentially due to Cove in 19, so the Jets get their second W Now the Browns are in a precarious situation where they've got to go out and face the Steelers, a division rival in a must win situation. They win that game there in the postseason. Steelers have already Punch their ticket to the postseason. However, they're still looking at seeding. And so, Mike Tomlin has said. This is not going to be like a pre season game for us where I'm looking at, you know, backups and depth and whatnot. But I am going to sit Ben Roethlisberger, our quarterback, and perhaps another player at or two. And so Baker Mayfield has got to go up against Mason Rudolph. Jay. This puts pressure on Baker Mayfield more than he's had all season long, 2002 Was the last time the Browns were in the playoffs. The last playoff win was 1994. It has been a minute class down to this game since that franchise left and has returned, which was I believe in 1999. Haven't delivered a playoff win, so you have to go back to pre packing up and leaving in the middle of night. Brown's in 1994. There's a lot on the line. Pressure is where it all came from pressures is it comes at a premium, though, Right? And pressure what you always say. Boss Pipes? Yeah, it busts pipes, But pressures were the decision for Mike Tomlin came to remove Big Ben pressure from a guy like Myles Garrett getting after the quarterback and potentially injuring Ah, big bed, so he's out of the game. Elevated pressure now for Baker Mayfield. It is interesting when you kind of take a step back, and we heard Schefty say this and we heard Aaron Goldhammer from Cleveland radio. Say this big game out there. At ESPN Radio in Cleveland. Say this Baker Mayfield. Has probably secured the spotted quarterback for the most part in terms of career financially moving forward. But what Aaron said Goldhammer and as a pulse of Clement having a posy because we actually can hear from Aaron Goldhammer. Here he is. He was on earlier this morning with US and Keyshawn J. Willing Zubin. Here's Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN. Cleveland talking about how Baker Mayfield knows what's at stake this weekend. And the definition of a franchise quarterback in this town is someone that can take on those photos and win. So I think you know, Baker knows that his perception Around town and nationally of you know, is he the guy is on the line. He's already lost last year to duck Hodges in Pittsburgh to Brandon Allen in Denver to lose to Sam, Donald and Mason. Rudolph in back to back weeks is something that would stick with him for a long time. Even though you know it's not like the Browns will be on the open market looking for a quarterback headed in next year. Right, And he's already lost to the Steelers and the Ravens so far this year as well, Thank you for delivering that sound shape because it enhances where I was going. And that's why you're my wife because you can finish my sentences. You know what my thoughts are going here? It's called chemistry. We got it here. Filling in for Keyshawn J will end soon and she's shake or not. I'm Jordan Cornett. We're very blessed to be here. But yes, that's the point. Chef. He's pretty much set in his opinion, financially and career wise. He's proven to the decision makers in Cleveland that he is the guy moving forward. But Aaron Goldhammer, who is this sports talk radio guy in Cleveland, it speaks to the fans in Cleveland. I think there's some questions and still need to be answered in terms of Ken Baker, do it and delivering this win to get them in post season goes a long way. Baker can't worry about either one of them. Maker has to go out here take advantage of an opportunity given to him that he's not facing a Hall of Fame quarterback on the other side, and it quite possible he might not be facing many key members on that Pittsburgh Steelers defense If he does, maybe it's only for one half. So coming out, Getting in a hot start. Being able to take care of business throughout is gonna be big. Your receivers are back. You squandered an opportunity last week. We know you were a doubt your wide receivers due to code protocol but was one loss checks Team? And a franchise quarterback finds a way against an inferior opponent. You didn't do it last week, you have to find a way to take care of business early in this one. Leave any doubt and the very beginning of this game that it's not gonna be close. We're the better team with a tenant five team with our starting quarterback playing all of our people. You have to go out here and win this game. It is a must win for mo mentum. To answer questions and for history, which is on the line for Cleveland. All those things coming to a head here in this, the Browns have struggled in their last game of the season. In fact, the Browns have lost 12 straight games to the Steelers in the final game of the season. Also, they have not won a week 17 game. Since 2009. There's a lot of records on the line this weekend in Cleveland, so getting over the hump and getting that w no doubt is a big deal. Also, Okay, let's not be done here. There is the Mason Rudolph Myles Garrett Narrative. I would like to think, and I think he has moved forward that Myles Garrett has moved forward. He's put it behind him. His maturity is learned, etcetera, etcetera. No questions over Sportsman of the year is absolute. That's so rear view there exactly, But this is an opportunity for miles gear to go out and meet Basin Rudolph face to face and prove that they're the better football team. Without a dead love to meet him face to face. You'd love to get out there and I don't mean personally asked me to get out to the quarterback and be disruptive. Right? So there's a motivation factor as well as if you needed any more motivation heading into this game. There is that motivation factor there as well. Bottom line is it's a must win game in Cleveland. No matter how you shake it, I don't think we'd be saying this as much if you didn't have big Ben's sitting out in this game, or you didn't or you actually didn't lose the game last week to the Jets, of course, because then you wouldn't be in this must win situation. But given all those factors Comes down to this weekend. It comes out of this moment into this game for the Cleveland Browns. But Shay I smile because I grew up in Cincinnati, which is the southernmost part of the state..

"Really the guy that belongs up there. The most is probably Nick Chubb. That that that there's interest. Let me ask you this because you're gonna be asked this every single time you come on the show with us. What is it that you want this year in the evening for the Browns? Other than the Lombardi. That will set it by you. So you know, different organizations and teams have different standards. It's I've lived in Cleveland for 15 years. Okay? I've seen just about everything. I've seen the cab, the worst team in the league championships in the Indians in the world. I've never seen the Browns even competent so if they were to make the playoffs if they were to ever host a playoff game In a post pandemic world, and I got to see what so many people have told me about what happens in this city when the Browns air good. I mean, that is what I would love to see. So my standard for them isn't even winning in the playoffs. At this point, it's just if they got there. That would be the Cleveland sports highlight kids. The calves won the championship in 2016. Wow. Incredible. Great expectations. I mean, I just can't get over the nick Chubb comments. We'll have more from Aaron. If you're listening out there on the really big show every weekday afternoon on ESPN 8 50 in Cleveland. More of his great thoughts on Twitter at Hammer Nation 19. He really brought some interesting thoughts this morning. For sure. Aaron. Thank you so much for being here this morning. Happy to do it, guys. Thank you. All right, so we can't let this go key because while Aaron Goldhammer was saying post Jim Brown that this is the best running back he's ever had You had a quizzical look. So I picked up the old apple iPhone. What on this one, dude. Go ahead. I don't think of him in a minute, Okay? No, no problem. No problem. I mean, they had guys like Kevin Mac. They've had some really good running backs over the years. So Chuck came into the league in 2018. And again. We're not just gonna basis all on numbers. He's obviously extrapolating. What can you give us in the future? How does he pair well with Baker? How will all that work? So there's some, there's some nuance here in 2018 e ran for 996 Yards, nearly 1000 yard rusher in his rookie year. 2019. This stuck up on some people because of how bad the Browns were 1494 yards on the grass. We got better in the sophomore year, right Second League and rushing. When you consider that the Browns really couldn't do anything right. There was turmoil and chaos all season Long day ahead. Coach probably never should've been a head coach. Right. You get to the kitchen, get a confident head coach and they have a running back in the hills. Maybe he does even better And then this year, obviously, you know it's been early, but he really thinks The Nick Chubb. Could play a role and even be a bigger star than Baker Mayfield. His point about Linda is great. If Linda where we're to stay, I know it's on the baseball conversation, he would easily be the face. You've got a great smile. He's got incredible talent..

"There's a 5.5 point favorite against the Giants. By the way this week, that line hasn't moved. That was the look a headline. That's where it sits right now. Number one of Mikey's always go from week one week too, and see if there's some overvaluing or some major market corrections that are happening and see if you can capitalize. I saw the Browns are this Thursday night. Now it's short week right usually favors the home team. The Browns. Host the Bangles Battle of Ohio. Should the Browns be laying six to anybody, boys? I mean, not don't think they should be laying 60 anyone? Brown's Bangles. Is that what they're giving us this Thursday? This Thursday? My friend. Today's Who, for the big day out of the week already get burrow, though. At least I think there's something intriguing about at least watching young Jo Burrow Burrow Baker. Yeah, Burrow versus Baker. Over time he could could the Brown now the Browns might win by three touchdowns. I don't know. Maybe they bounced back after her. Harassing loss, but like should they be favored by Six against anybody. I don't I don't think they should answer is no unequivocal. No. Listen, the NFL has a formula. They have to get every single team on at least once on a marquee game Thursday, Sunday or Monday night game And so what they do is they say, all right, we got to get the Bangles and browns on ASAP before either team is in too big a hole. So what you frequently get In one of the first couple weeks of the season is a Browns Bengals or maybe a jazz combo where they're going to be on your Thursday night telecast to own one football spewed off while in the Browns. I mean, just you and they see the Browns elevated Cody Parkey. I believe, yes. More day Nate last year, Good luck to the Browns finished 7979.
