"Everything to that offense. You don't want to boil it down to one drive and say this is why this guy is so valuable. He was so valuable all season, but when it came down to it when the rams had zero other options to move the ball in the Super Bowl when they actually had to move it, they figured out all they needed was Matthew safford and Cooper Cup and they would make it work. The two of them would just force it to work. And yeah, and that's why the Super Bowl champion right now. The one thing that kind of stands out to me with cup is you hear all the time. And I think we're going to do more on this as the season goes on because it's just really interesting, but Matthew saver always talks about the body language. Cooper cups of body language is better than any receivers ever played with and the way he's able to basically transmit where he's going to Matthew safford before he goes. I mean, the chemistry the two of them had last year was just exceptional and even more incredible, considering it was their first season together, but man, I mean, there's really no reason to think that this won't be the same situation for the next two or three seasons there in LA. Yeah, I think what they have, I think, so I don't know, follow me on this one, is the best of what Tom Brady had with Danny mendola in Wes Welker in hyperdrive because Cooper Cup is a better athlete than either of those two. And the way that those two receivers combined with Brady were able to understand legal traffic and spacing, I think brought them to numerous super bowls. And I think that the same could be said probably for Cooper Cup, where in trips, if you can't get the hand on him off the snap, he's unguardable because he's always going to be able to find just a little sliver of open space and he's going to catch the ball. The other signing we're going to touch on this week, hunter Renfro, and this one was fascinating to me because I remember one point when I was putting our outline together on the receiver guys. And I don't even know if we brought up up on the show, but I just put like hunter renfrow and a question mark after that saying like, okay, mclaurin and Metcalf and all these guys who we know are number one receivers. And then it's like, what if hunter renfrow? A guy who is a really good player. But is really a slot only guy. He's a complimentary player. You know, he's not going to be a guy you can line up as like an X ISO receiver and get wins that way. He's going to be he's going to be inside. And that's what he's going to do and he's going to do it really well, but what would the market for that kind of guy be? And we saw. It's a lot. It's a lot of money for him. Yeah, it was interesting. I was talking to one NFL person who remarked that that was the moment for that person where that positional group jumped the shark. And it's interesting because certainly your tyreek hills and your Davante Adams are worth every penny of that. But as you start to look at the economics of the market, it is interesting that, for example, you throw out like, okay, is is hunter Renfro worth 5 Josh Reynolds? Right? I mean, that's kind of. I don't know what you're going to do with 5 Josh Reynolds is in your roster. Who's like a good who's a good veteran wide receiver that's making like a million bucks. Like a very just okay, you know, like veteran minimum guy, but you'll bring him in. I don't know. Like, I don't know who they have in Miami, now that tyreek is there filling out that depth chart. Is van Jefferson on the end of his rookie deal? Yeah. And Jefferson might be on the end of his rookie. Yeah, he's going to be a free agent next year, but van Jefferson is making 1.4 million. It's hunter renfrow worth 16 times what van Jefferson is worth to you. To me, no. When you put it that way, but the thing I, the thing I think about with hunter Renfro is I also look at the jets, but the current jets. And that's like the last couple we'll see. It's like they had jamison Crowder and they had Braxton barrios, and I think those are two guys who looked at and were kind of like, yeah, those are really good guys to have out of the slot and young guys, you can separate guys again make plays on third down, et cetera, et cetera. Now, neither guys as good as hunter Renfro, but they're not that far behind, and it feels like there's always, I don't know. Like, half dozen that you can just go out and get for a fairly lesser price there. I mean, Renfro obviously he has some chemistry there. A car at this point, you want to maintain that. And that sort of thing. But it's a lot of money. I would have been fascinating to see Renfro hit the open market and see if someone would have given him well, frankly, a bigger deal than he got from the Raiders here, but also what is the market for a guy like that as a complimentary piece to your offense. As opposed to devonta Adams or Tyree kill? Do you think that at some point the market is going to have a more defined subdivision? Because that was always the complication with when Wes Welker was up for a new deal or any of those guys in the past. And I don't think we ever really solved that problem. And I'd be curious to see as the position becomes more valuable, are we going to see more market tears? Because right now, the breakdown is weird, right? Like if you look at if you look at all the active receiver contracts, you have your true X guys out there. But within the top, I don't know, one, two, three. I mean, hunter Renfro is now among the elite, you know? And so somewhat elite, right? Like approximately average annual value. I mean, he's up there, right? He's Adam Thielen. He's Alan Robinson. He's a little bit above Robbie Anderson. And is certainly and it's not the same guy. Well, I'll tell you what the one quick point. Yeah. How smart to the Broncos look extending those two guys Tim Patrick and courtland Sutton before all that went down? Wow. No, they were, boy, George Payton was ahead of the curve on that one. I'll just say as far as the way this, you know, the subdivisions that you bring up, great rush song, but also it's a good point because I think if you go back and we can go back to Wes Welker, Wes Welker was, you know, the slot guy and Randy Moss was the big play guy on those great patriots teams. That was also a time when there just wasn't this kind of depth at the receiver position and also I don't think schematically teams were able to create production out of that receiver position like they can now. So I'm just, I don't want to say I'm surprised. Again, I think hundred reference is a really good player. It makes total sense to lock him in because you want America. He's good at football. He's going to make your team better. I just didn't think that the receiver boom would necessarily trickle down to guys who are clearly complimentary guys as opposed to true number one guys, which obviously that's what my dad Adams is. That's what AJ Brown is. That's what tyreek hill is. Yeah, so.

"Becoming the hub of the NFL and sports entertainment and just like entertainment in general. There was an urgency to create a real legacy for the Los Angeles Rams to establish them. And they've obviously done that to the best big possibly can to the degree they possibly can. But the future is interesting because like we talked about, we don't know where Aaron Donald stands, obviously, a key piece of that team building itself over the last near decade. They have a nice young Cooper Cup. They've got a good couple of young players, but at Stafford isn't getting any younger. Who knows how long it is going to be there? They don't have the picks to go get another guy where something to be happened to whether he decides to retire in the next few years or whatever else they don't have the capital to go get another guy quite yet. We don't know what the future holds for von Miller or for Odell that junior, we just found out that he torn his ACL in the game on Sunday, which is awful. So they still have some pieces that are come back. I do still think they'll be competitive, but do I think that they're in a place to potentially make another Super Bowl run in the next year or two? No, I don't, you know, I really, really don't. And they do not have one Super Bowl and gonna get you the fan base that you want to establish yourself a real foothold in the NFL elite. I think in order to create a real deep rooted legacy for the rams in LA the way that they really want to, you need sustained regular success over the course of three, four or 5 years. You know, one Super Bowl for Philadelphia. That'll do it. You don't really need, you only need one for the fans and the ability. They're hardcore fans that have been around for generations. They're not going anywhere. They'll live off one ring for a long time, rams? I mean, you're gonna have some of these bandwagon fans drop off real quick if you go back down to when you know ten games ten and 7 and going in and losing a wild card rounder, divisional round game. You're just not going to be able to sustain it. So what you really need to build up a real hardcore fan base into potentially become the team that you want to be long-term is sustained success. And I do wonder if that's either possible with where they've positioned themselves with their draft capital and everything else at this point. I do think that's something to watch, you know? A team like the Bengals who have this really hardcore fan base traveled really, really well to LA. They're going to be okay. They have their star. They are locked in for as long as Joe burrow is there. Zack Taylor knows Zach Taylor walked in. The rams don't have that. This was like, this was an all star team. And they were awesome. Mass Stafford is great and I do think he can play for a while longer now, but a while is maybe three, four, 5 years. If you're lucky, right? And I'm outside of that. You can't build a team around Cooper Cup. Like he can't be your star. That's just not how James work in the NFL in 2022. He can be a star. He can be as he can be everybody's favorite player, but you can't build a franchise around a wide receiver. And if you don't have a plan on how to sort of keep this ball rolling this one, the masked average time debate Cooper cut Aaron Donald ball rolling for at least another couple of years. I'm not sure the rams are going to be where they want to be. And where Stan Kroenke wants them to be and the next three or four years. I think that this may have been the mountaintop. But I am excited to see how the off season plays out and how where they go from here because they are so interesting. Both of those teams are so interesting because they built themselves up so completely different, you know? The Bengals struggled a couple of times and here they are in the Super Bowl that rams spent absolutely everything they had to get here. They win the game. So that'll be a fascinating to watch. And now that the Super Bowl is over and it's officially the off season. It's gonna be draft time and looking to see what teams do to build themselves into the future and AFC is incredibly competitive right now. I think it's in a much better spot competition wise than the NFC. That is the one thing that rams have going for them is the NFC is still a little murky. We're not sure where the niners are going to stand next year. We're not sure where Russell Wilson's going. Kyler Murray has now decided that he's not sure when he wants to do. He's playing some weird game in Arizona. Aaron Rodgers future as per usual is up in the air, you know, the cowboys seem to still be unable to find the solutions to their fatal flaws and so, you know, maybe the rams are able to eke out of the NFC just because of that, but they better hope tree Lance doesn't turn into the next generational quarterback, because if that's the case, they're screwed. This is what we do it for, right? I was all for Sunday and I had a blast. I've had a blast talking to you guys about the season this year. We started out with so much Mac Jones and Cam Newton drama and we come so far. We've come so far and rooting for young Mac. I'm ready to go into a sophomore season and see him rise to the occasion. We've got months and months to talk about that. See what Bill Belichick does build that team around the yellow star. They've got all kinds of coaching vacancies to build. So while the Super Bowl is over and we were into the off season. We will not lack things to talk about over the next few months and I look forward to doing that with you. Thank you. And have a great week and I will talk to you again soon bye..

"These defenses are contributing because we also saw really good defense from the Bengals postseason, you know? And I haven't even watched heading into the playoffs. I haven't even watched enough bagels to fully understand whether I should put respect on the Bengals defense or not. And I've come to realize I should have. But we know the respect that we owed Aaron Donald and the Ramsey fence. And what were you Morris was able to do schematically against Joe burrow and I believe that the media and the broadcast are doing a massive disservice. Like I said, to casual fans and even hardcore fans by not talking more during the game about what players like Aaron Donald are doing to affect every single snap every single down. What Donald does specifically? Because he's such a unique player. It's a yard by yard basis. Hold game for 15 minutes, a quarter from four quarters. It's not boring. He is a physical freak of nature. He is an athlete of the highest level in this league. We should not be having a difficult time talking about what he does and talking about it starting in the broadcast booth starting with collinsworth and Al Michaels started going down to the sidelines going down to the people who are on Twitter covering game. Down to the people who are live reporting it everything. It's all on us to start understanding and talking about this stuff so that because after the game, you know, so many of the more casual fans were like, of course, it's Cooper Cup. And thought I was truly thought I was crazy for suggesting that it be Aaron Donald. But the people who watch football truly maniacal degree who cover it and have been in the trenches talking about these games for years and years. Those people, they agree that it should have been Donald. And so there's a huge gap between the real hardcore football people and the fans and there shouldn't be one. There really shouldn't be one because it's actually not that hard and I know fans would absolutely be able to grasp how important he was to that game. If the people telling them about the game and explaining it to them, we're doing their jobs fully. Football might be over for the season, but basketball is in full steam for both pro and college hoops. Again, we've transitioned so far into only crediting offenses that in a game where the Rand's offense couldn't run the ball. The Bengals couldn't run the ball. They were Stafford through two interceptions. There was so much inefficiency and you gave the wide receiver, the envy. Come on. He had nothing to do with stopping that momentum after Stafford's taking had nothing to do with stopping to a girl from going down the field. And part of me feels like the people who vote for the MVP who decided that it was Cooper Cup. A lot of this is because number one, they don't respect defense as much as they should. They don't respect what Aaron Donald does at the defensive tackle position, which is essentially unmatched by any other player in the history of the league. And they don't respect Joe burrow enough to think that this was actually a free tall task, which is interesting to me because Joe burrow was able to take down the Raiders. The number one seated Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City and he looks like a different player and he was struggling a lot more in this game and I don't know how you don't see why that is. Put some respect on Joe girl's name because he can change a game in a heartbeat. And there was a strong chance he could have done that now. Did Zack Taylor kind of screw them a little bit with deciding to put some aji Ryan in instead of Joe mixing almost third down? Yes, yes, it was dumb. We'll talk about Zach Taylor. But show some respect for what Joe borrow was able to do to basically everybody else he ran up on in this postseason until he ran up on Aaron Donald and then von Miller and what they were doing to throw him out. I mean, do you understand how hard it is to get the ball out in two seconds over and over and over again? We got to do better. Going to do better in the booth. We got to do better on the sidelines. We got to do better on social media. Talking about a player like that because if he does retire, this season, even if he doesn't, even if it's in the next one or two seasons, whatever it may be. He was the best player in that game. He was the best layer in that game statistically, he was the best player in that game, I test wise. I really don't want to take anything away from Cooper. An incredibly special receiver, so fun to watch. But that was Aaron Donald's game. And I'm not and I can not let it go. That stuff coming up. The next thing I want to talk about is Matt Stafford and how we discuss his legacy post this game because it wasn't the best statistical game for Matt Stafford. And he hasn't, you know, it's not like every single post playoff game we've been like, holy crap, look at what he can do, whatever. A huge play is huge moments what he was able to do against the Buccaneers to win that game and that final possession again with Coca-Cola. This is that we know Jared Goff couldn't do. And yes, they made a Super Bowl with Jared Goff. We saw how that went. And we saw how the next seasons went. And there was obviously a cap on what they were going to be able to accomplish with him at quarterback. They raised their sailing dramatically when they brought in Matt Stafford, who has been a statistically dominant quarterback for a long time prolific. Lots of touchdowns, lots of yardage. And also known for game winning drives, which he got another one again last night. No surprise. There should not be any surprise. Matt Stafford does have that sort of door diamond mentality and there is yes a little bit of Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, I'm gonna throw the ball and risky situations potentially throw picks, but I'm also I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you at some point. And you better be ready defensively to make me pay for it 'cause if you're not. We're gonna win the game. And that's the kind of quarterback that Matt Stafford is. And I do feel like coming out of the game. There are some people who are, you know, there are some people who were talking about maybe this guy's a Hall of Famer now. And I'm willing to have that conversation absolutely. Look at where he is in the record books and tell him we don't have to have that discussion. You can't go through the record books for quarterbacks right now, not talk about Matt Stafford. Him coming out of Detroit coming to a stacked rams team and winning the Super Bowl on his first year with a new team. Again, very Tom Brady, obviously Tom Brady was going from a basically the opposite situation. The greatest, most prolific dynasty in the history of the NFL. And then goes to his tag team wins a Super Bowl. Obviously we had a staffer and you know he came from the worst team in the NFL really over the course of the history. And does the same thing. So really cool sort of competing narratives on either end of the spectrum..

But that's when it comes you know, if you're getting aggressive, they're just gonna beat you over the top and there goes the short game. They're gonna possess the ball 12, 13, 14, 15 times. And I know you're gonna come back at me and say, well, the rams gave him 13 drives last week and won. The Patriots can't play like the rams played last week. They don't have Aaron Donald. They don't have Jalen Ramsey. This is how they have to play. They need to, it's not even about winning the time of possession..

"Line cap overall for everything that you saw protect protection for Fields and Dalton, But as far as they're allowing the run to happen over 100 yards rushing from Montgomery, How would you characterize the offensive line overall? Uh, I would probably give the offensive line last night. A C. You did run for 100, whatever yard so I will give you credit that you did run for over 100 yards. They think they had 22 run plays 16 of them to David Montgomery, who was out for a while because He dislocated a finger. It looked like and they popped it back in and he came back into the game, so I'll give you credit for that. You till late in the game. Aaron Donald did not have a sack. That's gets a positive positive. I'll give them a C tough crater baby C plus, maybe tough, greater but We did our grades on the post game on TV last night, and I wish I could revise my grades. I have some DS in there. The only thing I gave a decent grade to a special teams. You just pissed off and like you are right now. It's like I get it right. Special teams. You got a big return at the start of the game. You didn't try any field goal, so I can't grade you on that You didn't give up any real long returns. They were fine. You're you're okay. I'll give you a decent grade their coaching Matt stood at that podium. He was caught. He was friendly. He was smiling. Hey, man, we You know, we thought the offense was going up and down the field. Stop! Stop! You got 14 g d points I get it 14. That means your offense was lousy last night lousy. I thought the offensive line was no worse than a B Plus B minus in that you're dealing with injuries. You already all all down to Wilkinson on the left side. Fourth left tackle. Yeah, fourth. You got them on there. And then Peters is out there. He's down. Boram is down. I thought that the offensive line played well enough for the Bears to win. But again, you know, only time adult was really in trouble is when he held the ball too long and fields and I hate the shovel pass like that's what he's in there for Just two just flick it off to Robinson didn't like that. The shuttle pass the shovel the shovel pass. You had the end around Goodwin. He completed two passes. One was short and one was, I don't know. Nine yards down at the two yard to Goodwin in the first quarter. Fifth play was he ran it in for a touchdown, so please explain to me. What it is Andy Dalton does. He doesn't stretch the defense because he didn't go downtown over 1/10 yards didn't try 1/20 yards. What does Andy Dalton bring to the team and the offense? I have no problem with him. Put him in the room. All of that. What does he bring to the offense? That Justin Fields is not ready to do because there was not one Freaking play in that game that he ran and he went okay. Justin has to learn that he doesn't stand back there. Go through his progressions 123 back there. None of that right? As I told you. Don't worry, just two. We had the lion's share of the time back there and I remember me. Remember, I told you that like you won't like it initially, but Fields will be out there. Trust me. Yeah, this to the Bangles. I don't know when they get a win. I don't know 3123323776 and we will play Justin Fields. You've got to hear him. Right after this. This is Kath and Jay Hood, ESPN 1000. "Every year. Aaron Donald Yeah, that's a hot take because I think at the end of the day, the Rams with the reinvigorated offense, and Sean McVeigh re establishing himself as the the great quarterback mind in the NFL, That's all said with dripping sarcasm. But there is some element of that. That will be true. And as a result, there's even less pressure on that defense. Aaron Donald, I think is going to be the M V P defensive MVP for sure, he's still the most talented offensive player in the league. I do think it's more likely Aaron Donald's. I think that's a hard take. Just not quite ready to see T. J Watt is that disruptive player just yet? And I'm definitely confused about the Von Miller selection. He has not been in peak form for a number of years. And with the health stuff and off and on things were a little strange this offseason and last year, I would like to see him be back to his best, but not so sure about that one. Alright, let's finish quickly with the offensive Rookie of the year if you had to pick one, Mac Jones or Trevor Lawrence. Trevor Lawrence. Uh, interestingly, also people saying Jalen Waddle, Nagy, Harris, and a lot of the experts are thinking Zach Wilson is going to have the best year I'm going to go Justin Fields, he's going to get out there. Okay you probably have noticed. There was one name. I did not mentioned in the top five because tom brady actually came in at number seven on the lip. Maxine brady have been tire. Yep yep the cliff is saying brady should add tire. I understand if you wanna stick. Aaron donald in there because arrand. Donald is a better defensive. Tackle than brady is a quarterback at this moment. However defensive tackles are so much less important than quarterbacks. It is impossible not to take that into consideration brady but if you wanna put donald ahead of get it. Ready should be third. Maybe fourth on this list.

Mr. Sprague should write a thank you card to Aaron Donald for saving him Because that incident or Mr Springs is getting injured. That likely would have kept going for a least a few more seconds. I'm used to see 'em fight and i from the start of our relationship always used to it. I'm always confident that he's going to be whatever opponent or guy that he's fighting with tara and like he has a six foot reach like. There's no way that you're going to santa chan guy. I love you. you're you're strong guy. You're in great physical shape your fighter. You train all summer to do this but no that is not not my idea. I know all right. So i was actually. I was actually when he was doing that. I was actually on a facetime with my friend at the time For that game when the last game that he fought him. And i saw him drop the glass and i was like oh god i was like here. We go so you felt like you felt many years ago when you saw me just house. That guy in the ice well. Yeah a pretty much. Yeah so didn't think you'd appreciate this. So when i had my daughter sabrina three years ago. I would come in and tell boomer things that she was doing like. Oh you know. She started to crawl a little. Bit started a babble. You know she's sleeping through all these little things and boomer would then fire back me. Yeah just wait till she's thirteen and she turns on you and leaves four years and then becomes an alien and it's like all these things but it's funny now because what he does to me with wins he comes goes when he started to babble a little bit you know. She said it watches video. Do you think she said something. And by the way she had her first piece of whole foods like all these things that i was telling him he would just fire back at all these negative things but now he's mr softy over here because he's boom pots incredible the transformation i- legit think that my teenage years probably like traumatize him and just erase all of the like fun young memories of when i was a baby i was. I was a hard teenager debt. I will. I will admit to that. But yeah he Anytime i sent him a video or anything she does. That's new he is like i dunno. It's the best part usa. She's your baby work right exactly and you know just to give people a little background. Sydney is a great mom but the pandemic has it's pluses and minuses. We all know about the mina. Because that was we've talked about that. You're but one of the pluses first moms like sydney and dad's like mad is that there's no parties. There's nowhere to go. I mean you could maybe go out to dinner best about it but you are with your child pretty much twenty four seven and that truth. Yeah i am with her. Twenty four seven pretty much great. Yeah of course. I mean it's it's bonds that you are building that will last a lifetime. You're gb is helping out a lot too. Oh yeah mom is really helping me out. But i'm just hoping that she isn't like super antisocial. Like a you know pandemic babies. You gotta worry about like yeah. They're not out in public. That much so Today the first day. Because i saw a photo where you were yesterday was yesterday. I i you actually had her out in situation like that What was food shopping yesterday. I'd really brought her to the grocery store. Yeah so she enjoyed it. But yeah i am. I know it'll be interesting to see when she's any setting where there's like lots of people will see. She's like her mom. Who's a social butterfly or her dad who likes to beyond body so it could be like or like you. Either one does matter. Did the other the other thing too. I mean like the honor is going to win the next two games place. Yeah i'm not. Can we beat the bronze place. Can we do something that helped. That's helpful in the house. Yes and our track record against the bruins season is pretty good. So i think You know i'm not going to jinx. Anything i'm not gonna say anything for you guys. NFL Playoff Predictions: Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
"We'll start things off in the nfc where the green bay packers playing host to the tampa. Bay buccaneers. You're looking at green bay. Three and a half point favorite at faneuil sportsbook total in this game at fifty one and a half and pain. When i dug into this game i was blown away not by some of the statistics that are there the xs and os but by the simple fact that this'll be aaron rodgers first. Nfc title game. That will at home given everything he's been able to accomplish in his career and greenvale have something pretty strong working in their favor when you consider that since the wild card round began in nineteen seventy eight teams playing their third straight road game or just five and twelve against the spread for thirteen straight up so tampa get have to work against that particular trend but when you have the greatest of all time at the quarterback position. I'm sure a lot of your fears are swayed by all of that when you try and identify some of the matchups here we know these teams that. You're just assuming. Patrick mahomes doesn't get seven. Well a patron hose may seven. But he's not the go he might be the go in waiting. And who knows. Maybe we'll get a ceremonial passing of the baton from tom to patrick in tampa in two short weeks. But we're getting ahead of ourselves there as well when you look at this particular game and i know we go through the offense versus defense but which side of the ball is going to be more fascinating for you to watch tom. Brady against this. Suddenly resurgent packers defense. Who in my opinion really hasn't been tested over the last couple of weeks or aaron rodgers looking to atone for his worst performance of the season against the tampa bay bucks defensive front. I think they're both interesting. Obviously in one thing that we've talked about air this entire postseason is we're getting some good matchups. We're getting some great games. We have to be thrilled with the four teams remaining. And i know browns fans won't like this but we don't have a team that's undeserving or doesn't belong. We don't have a team. That's seven and a half eight win. Team somehow sneaking their way into the final four so to speak here with with an upset win and then taking advantage of an injury to the most important play like we have the four teams. Here that are right up there in the power rankings. You could certainly say the saints or there but you know if if i think we knew exactly what was wrong with drew brees report we might not have the saints as the top five credential. You you mean his wife coming out and saying he played the latter portion of the season with a torn labor. Him didn't have any effect on his lacklustre efforts. Throwing the ball downfield torn torn labor. M- rotator cuff torn plantar fascia and still had. I guess three fractured ribs most healed but right and so i think that was part of the the line move last week now for sure looking at this right in this match while we're getting the great games and i of go back to my initial thought here while we're getting the great matchups for us to watch there's so much variance there so many like holes to attack. That team can do that. Like sometimes you get games whereas like you break them down. Nearly there's nothing really there. These games have a lot here. And whichever one can. It's going to cause this massive variance in the game. I think we even said that last week in the packers we're going to find out who's for real. We think the packers defense is packers. Offense is really good. We think the rams defense is really good. Neither of really played a tough schedule. And i get aaron. Donald was injured last week. But i think we kind of saw. What the rams were when. They went up against an elite offense because they hadn't really faced any elite offense is aside from my guess what you could call a familiar opponent with russell wilson seattle. Who is trending horrifically to end the season. So let's start there right. And i think the obvious element the thing that we'll talk about a lot because it's worth bringing up what you'll probably. Here's you listen to a lot of breakdowns of this game all week and the one thing that can really swing this game. I think is pressure on aaron rodgers. Can the the buccaneers defense make aaron rodgers uncomfortable. And i think it's pretty pretty simple. That's going to be the largest determining factor of this game and if you're going to get a situation where aaron rodgers is strong from clean pocket. The game's over right. It's done with of quarterbacks with at least one hundred and twenty-five dropbacks aaron rodgers number one in the nfl one thirty passer rating from a clean pockets got forty touchdown four picks and clean bach suggested completion percentage when kept clean is eighty five percent. If you don't pressure. Rogers like you're not going into lambeau in january with possible weather and beating him

What stood out to you in the battle of the minds here. Yeah i mean because these are two guys who know each other so well and you know. They're very much part of the same coaching tree. They both worked under kyle shanahan about the flora then works Under sean mcvay. So they have very similar offensive philosophies but that was just a game that was full of really interesting. Coaching matchups mallon floor wine. That batch up by far the packers had the better game plan. They were the better team better coach. All of this and sure aaron. Donald was not at full strength. You could tell that. He was very clearly hampered by the rib injury that he suffered during the wild card round but it was just a very impressive performance overall by aaron rodgers and certainly by matt leflore and that entire coaching staff the packers put up four hundred and eighty four yards of total offense against basically the best defense in the league. talked about aaron donald. Who's just a generational talent. Not being at full strength. But how is this packers offense. So effective saturday night. We'll everything they do. Obviously starts with aaron rodgers. Who just seem to have this innate mastery of what was coming and it kind of went viral on twitter a little bit because so many of fox's camera angles shown face on with aaron rodgers where you could see the moment that he realized what was coming that he was able to diagnose the coverage and dictate the play based on what was coming and the offensive line played really well protecting aaron rogers. He was barely touched. I'm not sure if his jersey had a single grass stain on after the game. And you know when you're not getting pressure on a quarterback and you're running the ball really well and you have davante adams who's one of the best wide receivers and football. It really wasn't even a close match up. And you know. I know a lot of people in green bay throughout packers land. Were wondering this is the best defense in football and it has to make you wonder. If that's the way that the packers aaron rodgers played against supposedly the best defense in football. What are they going to do for the rest of the

"The Jets may be getting something right. I know. I know. It's amazing that they kind of got something right. We are talking about what happened in the divisional round yesterday. The Packers beating the Rams 32 to 18. The virtuoso performance from Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Donald. Hi It's hard to feel bad for a £300 man crying. But I feel bad for that guy like Aaron Donald Him not being able to play yesterday. The way that he's a customer playing. He played like a third of the snaps, or about half of the snaps that he ordinarily plays. For the Rams. I felt horrible for him. You want to see what that defense at full strength could do against Green Bay? And you just didn't get it? Because Of that sack against Russell Wilson that ends up hurting his ribs. And you saw like the special patting the Aaron Donald was wearing. I don't know if any of it was going to help it. It sucked to see one of the best players in the league not be able to play his best. So the Packers advanced to the NFC title game they will host next week. We'll talk more about them coming up in a little bit. Bills advanced to the A F C title game for the first time in almost 30 years. They beat the Ravens, 17 and three this. It looks worse than it actually was because you had Justin Tucker Miss a couple of field goals. In the game because the wind was super crazy. In Buffalo. Josh Allen did just enough. And Maurin importantly, the bills defense got after it yesterday, and they get the Terran jobs in 101 yard. I thought for sure Lamar was gonna catch him and he probably would have there would have been a blocker and run double. But to take it back to have AH. Play like that in the playoffs. They complete it. That was the game like after that. The game was over a bunch of bad snaps last night, too, And one of those bad stabs me ended up giving Lamar Jackson that concussion. Not because he got hit in the head with snap, but because the snap forced him back into the end zone. He gets tackled, and then he had to leave and did not finish the game. I do want to talk to people who are fans of the bills,.

From 21 yard line. First down Williams again the single back quick tossed Adams on the outside Adam's Inside, the 15 got past Ramsey and his down to the 13. That was a one on one. Adam's Ramsey match up in a little juke moved by the wide receiver gets him eight yards. A time out used by the Rams their final time out, stopping the clock with 2 26 to go on a second and two from the 13 coming up. And with 296 yards today, James Aaron Rodgers has passed Brett far from most postseason passing yards in Packer's history. Rodgers, now in his 20th playoff game today, has 5322 yards. "When i look at the rams i trust everything about the rams except the guy is going to have the ball in his hands. More time than anybody else. That jerry golf. He's a turnover. He's an accident waiting to happen and he's playing with a fractured thumb and the cold weather. And so i believe the packers defense although the not great i believe they can a few turtles out of him. Be a fumble or interceptions. Now aaron donald aaron says he feels great. Aaron donald play with a torn cartilage. Not me i had. That injury are in my ribs door to rip cartilage. Yup i tore my my real ended up when came loose my real extra protrudes a little bit now because there's not intact because the cartilage was torn. It was painful now. I don't know if anybody's ever had that skip. But sudden movements and aaron don lizzy sudden guy giving out a tooth gap and guy and even if he was. I mean just that third to feel that you don't realize how much you use your core until injure and then you realize the simple things brush not putting on your clothes brushing your hair. Imagine trying to play. Nfl football tried to move with three hundred pound man against wheel. Now you've got two hundred. Three hundred pounds man tried to move you against your will so it's going to be interesting to see not no. He's going to get the medication in there and and to calm it down in. So he's going to be very interesting. He might hip. Injury might not be as severe as my he might be able to tolerate more pain the not cooler. I said you're looking at the splash element. When you factor in what Aaron Donald does snap to snap double team interior line changes everything. Can you make the assertion that it's close? If not yet favorite? Here's Here's why. BT Um, and in your right, You know, You can't really say that publicly. Aaron Donald's more impactful player than Lawrence Taylor. But Aaron Donald is a is a gap plus defender. So you know, they don't to gap out there. What they do is they take one gap. Everybody has accountability. It's why they're able to stop the run. Um, and also play the past with these coverages behind right, But the reason they can do that is because Aaron Donald takes 1.5 sometimes two gaps. And if it's a pass rush, you can't single block. You gotta double him and then with freeze up Leonard Floyd or someone else on the outside, so He's impactful, but not necessarily statistically, like.

Inching minute by minute closer to the Packers divisional round playoff game with the Los Angeles Rams kick off Saturday at 3 35 from Lambeau and joining us now a man you can hear. On the Packers radio network ahead of that game. It is Dennis Crazy, Dennis. I want to go back to Sunday afternoon. The Rams have already beaten the Seahawks, and it's becoming apparent that the Saints are gonna beat the Bears. And it's looking like okay, Rams are coming. The Lambo, Where does your head go? First? When you realize it's the Los Angeles Rams coming to Lambeau Field. Well, a couple things. Obviously I have tremendous respect for their defense, which is the top scoring defense in the NFL. But also you know the weather in Green Bay, even though it won't be really frigid, the forecast wise. It's an adjustment for Southern California team so And you have the Think overwhelming edge for the Packers quarterback because I don't trust your golf, some injury or not. He wasn't having a good season even before he got hurt, So I think everything is lined up for the Packers to win. It won't be easy. But I think you know, I think it's a decent matchup for them. That is, her friend Wayne Larrabee says. It's in that who you play. It's when you play them. I guess this would be a classic example of that. First you get the Rams at Lambeau. Like you said in second all you get him on their dinged up. Yeah, I think the big one that a couple of them that I'm watching closely, although apparently they'll play Aaron Donald with the ribs and breathing in and out in the January weather in Green Bay is not going to be easy for him. But he is truly an outstanding defensive lineman. And even if he's just 70% Here's the problem. The other is receiver Cooper Cup who? Apparently it's not a serious knee injury, and he's expected to play as well. He is a big safety belt for golf in particular and kind of a possession receiver that could help them move the chains. I think looking at this game, guys, the Rams running game is going to be enormous because if Cam Acres is able to run the ball that sets up play action for golf, and he'll be much more comfortable if he can't run it. The Packers can put the ball in God's hands. I think that works to the Packers advantage. That is. You mentioned one of the rains. All pro players and Aaron Donald. The other is Jalen Ramsey. How do you think the Rams are going to employ him on Davante? Adams? Is it just, You know Darrelle Revis shadowing the whole time? How do you think they're going to employ trying to slow down this Packers passing offense? Using the model that used last week against Metcalf in Seattle. They had Ramsey primarily on him. But Beth cast still call a couple of touchdowns, one on kind of a broken play. That Russell Wilson moved out of the pocket, and we know that Aaron Rodgers likes to do that as well. Adams is a better receiver, in my opinion that Metcalf and more precise route runner and to do different things, so I would be surprised if they had Ramsey on every single play. So the rest of the Rams secondary is pretty good, too. But I think if you're asking me a question about the Packers receivers It can't be just Davante Adams on Saturday. Somebody else is gonna have to make at least one big play last thing for a dentist. What do you make of the rest versus rust argument? We've been talking about it all week long here on WTMJ. You know, I think for the Packers, the rest was fine. The thing that concerns me more guys is home teams over the weekend. We're just two and four, and there's a difference when it's not a full house. And I know the Packers are gonna have fans for the first time. I know they have the advantage of the weather. But home field advantage this year in the era of covert is different. And I don't think you can lock this. You know, as a win automatically, you're gonna have to earn it. You can listen to him on Packers preview Saturday afternoon, leading into a 3 35 kick at Lambeau, Dennis Crosby. Thanks for the time and we appreciate it. "aaron donald" Discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP
"Serious XM Channel 80. We previewed a F C and the one game what we would if we had to pay. That's the one we would go to. I went in the previous out of the program, Courtney With being tightened Ravens mostly because of what happened the last year. You know, the Ravens have heard about that Non stop. You went sports hate Browns Steelers, which I truly appreciate. Cause it's true. It's a completely different game than what we saw just last weekend with especially Roethlisberger. Being in obviously didn't play it in a lady a burnin also out now when Achilles tear for the Cleveland Browns NFC one game. You could watch wild card weekend. Which one is it? I like the Seahawks Rams match up, and there's a lot of intrigue here just from knowing is Jared Goff gonna play? What's he gonna look like? I mean, I want to know what that some how that affects his throwing motion, or we're going to see John Woolford again. I mean, he had an okay game. Um, you know 20 to 38 to 31 no touchdown but threw an interception showed a little bit of mobility off. I mean, they've been injured, and so it's kind of one of those situations for me. Are we going to see the same Ramstein that we saw in the finale against Arizona? Put them out of the playoffs. Are we going to see a team that actually gets some of its health back? Carol Henderson can makers, maybe it a little bit more full strength, and then he was playing yesterday. He's got the high ankle sprain. Is golf back under center and you know where is Russ at right now, But he's not. I mean, he's not playing at the same level that he was those 1st 67 weeks of the season when we were, you know, crowning him. N V P early on. Um, I want to see what that offense looks like in the postseason, because if you know Russ had some trouble against Aaron Donald a couple weeks ago, I mean, in the end, he ended up winning that game. But I wouldn't want to go against that defense of front at any point in the playoffs, especially without they've been playing down the stretch of the season. You want about how Hi Russell. Wilson's game is right now, folks he threw for over 4200 yards and 40 touchdowns. We're going, and now he looks a little off that looked like the same guy E mean that that that is. That's just stupid is what that is, when it comes to have well how high he took his game. And what we expect to see from him Weekend week out Right now, I'm going my beloved's man. And that's the Saints, Courtney being run from the north shore of New Orleans in a little town called Folsom, Louisiana. Hey, man, it's the bless you boys. We live and die with the New Orleans Saints. And this is this is what's crazy about this particular squad this year, and I'm not going with Drew Brees and the rib injuries and and all that the punctured a lung. They were 13 win team last year. World wild card there 12 win team this year and the two seed Should have ABI Could use a buy with that We have Michael Thomas, who is right now slated to play, but he's been dealing with a bunch of injuries all year long. We don't know Evan update yet on Alvin Kamara. And the Saints. If there's every year, they could really use that bye week. It's this year instead, partner suit him up. You're gonna go play the resurgent Chicago Bears at eight name. Not gonna give Matt Maggie and then that coaching staff and the players a ton of credit. This a team. Month ago we left for dead. There. They were done. I mean, cooked as your Christmas dinner was and now They are in the postseason. You know, I'm making another switch A quarterback Mitch Strabinsky has looked much better. I'm amazed. Marveled at how the Bears Found and fought their way into the postseason so that that intrigues the heck out of me as toe. What team shows up down in New Orleans against my New Orleans Saints? Drew Drew Brees is looking better and better as he's got him. You know? His body has become more used to dealing with whatever the hell he's still dealing with coming off 11 rib fractures and a punctured lung. But to me everything with the Saints and they're going to avoid another one and done and hopefully down the last damn play of the game again for the fourth straight season. It is that defense led by Cameron Jordan. Yeah, and tomorrow Davis man, And then he called all the Buckeyes on the backhand that Saints D. Yeah, everyone talks about the offense, but the most underrated an under appreciated part of this team. Is on the defensive side of the ball. No, not a lot of people would say, Hey, give the Saints a break. Cut him some slack here and there. Maybe they don't deserve that. But they have gotten the raw end of the deal in the playoffs. The last Three years. I've seen two of those games up. Close the Minneapolis miracle. Then last year, you know, they lose because of a coin toss. And and Opie I and a push off. Exactly. I wasn't Yes, yes, yes. And you know the past interference the year before any in the NFC championship game. I mean, I just kind of I'm gonna be watching this game sitting on, you know, pins and needles because I'm wondering what's what's gonna happen this year. I mean, that's you know the curse and all of that and leave if you want to call it that it's intriguing on its own, right. But no, I mean, you think back to that game where they put up 52 points. The Vikings on Christmas Day. How they do it with the safety valve, So Drew doesn't have to throw the ball deep down the field. You can dump it out to the flat to Alvin Kamara, and they need that running back room. Back from the covert stuff and, you know, had it not been for, you know, pretty easy win over the Panthers, which you know their teams of mass there kind of taking in their own right? Just by not being very talented, but Uh, They need that group back. They need that running back position. They need the backups. They need Camaro. They need Murray. They need the fullback because they use the full back like they need to be at full strength. And so I'm wondering, you know, how does that offense change? You know when they're able to get those guys back against a really stout defense? I mean, they don't let a lot of teams run on you. And so how is that going to look again?.

Dolphins' Tagovailoa wins first career NFL start
"It always seems like he can find the bright side always seems like he can find a reason to smile or reason to be optimistic. And considering what they last year of his football career has been like the last year of his life dominated by rehab from a devastating hip injury, And here he is. You may have seen the reports that kind of sprinkling out over the last couple of weeks ever since he got the starting job, despite the fact that they were three and three in Fitzpatrick. Is a guy that really brings a lot of energy and great leadership. The reason they went to to, uh According to reports, it's because they want to know if they need to go back to the draft. And start looking at quarterbacks or to a can be the man moving forward and considering the number of times the Dolphins have been hit or miss on quarterback since, say, I don't know. Dan Marino retired. They want to make sure they've got the right guy. And so yes, there right in the mix in the A, F C and now are above 502nd place in the East Division ahead of the New England Patriots. When was the last time we said that? Bills rally to beat Rams 35-32 after blowing 25-point lead
"The bills. Blew a twenty five point lead on Sunday and lived to tell the tale. The bills happily received the gift of questionable Pi call on fourth down. Then won the game on a Josh Allen to Tyler. Crop Hook up with fifteen seconds to play final score thirty, five, thirty, two. Wow Greg the rams came this close to a comeback for the ages. Only let victory slip away. They left too much time on the clock. When you come back from twenty three, you got a time that final touchdown just to go to overtime and then win the coin flip, which is probably the only way. The Rams Defense was GONNA get a stop in a big moment here because Josh Allen. Did. It all in this game in terms of the rollercoaster, the the whole experience they had nine possession and they and they scored five touchdowns. So I don't want to hear anything about the bills offense being in any way let down now he helped set up the comeback with a couple of turnovers, one of which came on a very questionable call, but was also a terrible throw by Alan. So yeah, he was at some fall Aaron Donald took over the game as Donald Does but my big takeaway is that the bills are an offensive team you WANNA get on part of their team. For blowing the lead, get on the defense I I look at them more as a team. That's GonNa make mistakes offensively as we saw here and there but that had to third and twenty three situations with the game on the line and they wound up converting the both they got one into a four, thousand nine. They got that questionable call as you mentioned Dan and and if they didn't get it, we'd be talking about how they blew this game but I still. As. A global view. Take a look at this bills team in think this offense is really dangerous and Alan's going to have some ups and downs but the conversion that they've had into an offense that can score over thirty regularly is massive and they are gonna be a tough team to beat when that's the case One thing stuck out to me was the uproar over the the controversial call at the end of the game and to be honest I caught a lot of this game. The only reason the rams were in the game was because of a bad call in their favour in which there was a simultaneous possession interception, which was clearly caught by the offensive player, and then once they hit the ground was wrestled out of his hands by the defensive player was a horrible call and they tried to defend it afterwards, our river on did and. It didn't make any sense when he tried to defend it either terrible throw though two and they gave up four touchdowns in four possessions very quickly. I think it's giving the rams a little too little credit's saying that's the only reason. It was definitely a turning point but it was a bad decision by Alan and more more to the point the rams offense started cooking. In the third and fourth quarters I hated that call. It's funny. We just started this show talking about how referees are keeping the flags in their pockets that to me at the end of the game there and I I know L. River on got behind his boy there. But that seemed very ticky tack with the game on the line to call that. But you know at that happens ultimately I think if you're the rams. Yeah. You're smarting from that call but also there are two third in forever's that they had right the bill. And all you gotTa do is make stop and that was you know that was to opportunities they had and they and they let it go by the boards and that is a credit to Allen I didn't get a chance to see this game. So I can't really say too much about it other than. His ability to just move this team up and down the field for three straight weeks, he is passed for three hundred yards. In, three straight weeks and they are averaging I believe four hundred and thirty yards. Total yards per game and thirty one points per game through three weeks, which is obviously franchise records across the board. There's something special happening with his offer.

ESPN Daily
The Running Back's Struggle
"Josh last time we had ESPN. It was to talk about fullbacks today. We're talking about running backs in our way through the backfield man just like Aaron Donald Josh firms. Meyer writes about football for five thirty eight Josh late last week. The Rams announced in a shocking move that they were releasing running back. Todd Gurley. This was a remarkable turn of events Given that girlie one offensive player of the year in twenty seven teen thoroughly. He was discussed by some people as an MVP candidate in two thousand eighteen on route to the Super Bowl led the league in rushing touchdowns that year. The ten the five untouched. To the end zone touchdown todd Gurley and on top of that. He's only twenty five years old. What happened my goodness twenty five year? Old running backs are already aging out. The first thing that happened to him was he has arthritic me. So at the end of the two thousand eighteen season he had to be replaced and spelled by Anderson Mentally played a little bit in the Super Bowl but he was just entirely ineffective. Fortunately that ineffectiveness carried over into the twenty nine thousand nine season and inbetween. He was given an extension that made him one of the highest. Pay running backs in the league. So this season couple that knee with his expense the caps situation in a loss Angeles and he just became a casualty and I think he is kind of an exemplar for everything. That's going on with running backs in the NFL. It's this idea of short and careers injury proneness and loss of effectiveness and therefore being cut or getting lower pay on the day that he was released. Espn stats and Info. Put out an number that I found fascinating in two thousand fifteen year. That Gurley was drafted. Twenty two backs were drafted. Not a single one of them. Josh is still on the team that selected them. What do you make of that goes to this idea of running backs? Having really short shelf life season for running back usually occur in one of their first two seasons at least in terms of productivity in terms of touches. You wear them down so quickly in this league. Though it's one of the toughest position on on the body and so I think the League as we've seen so far this year they still are kind of have a predilection overpay for the very good running backs are the ones that just had a good season but on by and large I think across the league. You're seeing people being really risk averse and moving on from running backs after a couple of seasons. When did you notice that that some teams not all and we'll get to some teams that have continued to pay running backs winded some teams for start to realize that they had been overvaluing the position and wanted to invest elsewhere. It's hard to trace it back specifically to a particular team but I know that People in twitter sphere and analytics the NFL analytics of talked about the replace ability of the running back position for quite a few years. The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the first on board to kind of spend money at the position but spread that money out over multiple players to kind of make the injury risks inherent in the position kind of spread across multiple sets of legs. The Baltimore Ravens are also one of the ones that the forefront of really just paying the absolute minimum that they have to at that position and actually getting pretty good production out of you mentioned that the analytics community was sort of early on this trend. What did they find? What did the data tell us about running backs really two things? Were most important about running the football. The results of run plays are primarily determined by run walking and defenders in the box. The defense and not who's carrying the ball because of that the finding is the inferences. They're running backs are interchangeable and investing a lot of resources whether it's the draft or whether it's free agency just doesn't make a lot of sense is also can be pinned on the changing nature of football itself. By and large. The data tells us that passing more passing. Early is more efficient right absolutely absolutely. I mean it's not even close in terms of the average value of a planet passing versus running on early downs. Then you still have to get into this idea. Of How much does it matter to the mentality of the team? How much does it matter to keep the defense on their toes? How much do you have to do to keep them honest? And so there's no question about how much teams should passing as a percentage of plays but is probably a case. They should be passing more than now. So are there any situations in which running the football is more advantageous absolutely? I absolutely you need to be able to run well at the goal line on Short yardage. If you have a running quarterback like Baltimore had last season definitely scrambling in design runs for quarterback are extremely efficient. Jackson will keep it on the read option expense at the thirty Lamar Jackson. Ted Pa Touch Lavar captain with the spin. This print Emma score. We saw what happened with Baltimore last year. They say hadn't run into that. Tennessee buds buzzsaw in the playoffs. They probably would have made it to the superbowl in my opinion. So there's definitely something to be said for the analytics and say stop running entirely and if you are going to do it do it with deception. Right off of play action. Get the other team guessing. About what your actual formation means and so they lose half a step in responding to what you're doing those are the kind of the things analytics pushes for not not whether or not you should be one hundred percent run or a hundred percent. You mentioned that Tennessee buzzsaw that beat the Baltimore. Ravens upset them. I think a lot of people point to that team to Derrick Henry and say see having a unique generational running back does matter. Look they upset. You Know New England in Baltimore. What would you say to that? I mean he got a twelve point. Five million franchise tag out of that performance. The back end of that year so I understand their point. They're looking at what just happened. They're looking at how he's being rewarded. No saying obviously matters but they beat another rushing team it the problem that I think the face the Ravens and we saw it with Kansas City. And how they didn't share. This same problem was that if you're built around the run whether it's by the quarterback or running it up the middle an wide zone like ravens did last season if you fall behind against a team that is also a ground and pound team in trying to control the clock and control the pace and you put yourself in a position where you have to come back. And you're not used to doing it or you don't have a quarterback quarterback that perhaps his is known for that type of play. You get what happened in in in Baltimore that night Jackson under pressure always lose ball stemming interception Jedi for the titans come up with another turnover hennessy. Titans are shocking the ravens whereas with the city chiefs they fell behind early three straight times but ended up winning the Super Bowl because they have a pass attack higher variants. You could make up ground easier with the passing game that you can with the run. When everything's working great rushing is the first thing you should try. And if you're good at it you should do it as long as you can but when it fails it fails pretty spectacularly and you need to be able to pass and in fact at the NFL level we ever parody is so prevalent that you really should just start out passing at that point because everyone's trying to run and everyone's trying to stop the run so the chiefs are sort of the analytics darling in this scenario because you know they passed their way to the Super Bowl. Josh they also have Patrick Mahomes right. So if you're a team with an average quarterback do you still think it's better to take a pass first approach in every NFL GAME? Even with a mediocre quarterback we find that they are better and teams are better and more efficient passing the ball and in sometimes. It's even more apparent when you have kind of an average or slightly above average quarterback because the defense and the defensive coordinator is almost sure you're going to not rely on them right. They're gonNA say well he's kind of crap you know. They're probably going to run out us all day long. And try and be safe with the ball so to the extent that you can put a mediocre quarterback in good positions like. Perhaps Tennessee did last year. Then you can take quarterback that had been floundering for years like Ryan Tannehill in. Turn him in to one of the best quarterbacks in the league the number one running back by the end of the season a guy that some people thought could have been the super bowl. Mvp was undrafted Damian Williams who is set to make just over a couple million dollars next year. How much does finance or the market factor in to know what we think about running backs today? I think you know if you're a casual fan. And you see everyone else. Basically on the team. Except for the punter and kicker getting more than on average than these running backs. I think it's beginning to percolate that. They're probably not the most important piece on the offense anymore. Things about analytics. Is that unlike baseball? Where like things got more boring? When analytics became involved when analytics can evolved in Football. Become more exciting. We want more passing. We want to go for it on fourth down. We want to know more so I one of the good things about all of this is that you see more aggressive more exciting football when it's played in the way that evidence seems to suggest it should

Jalen Ramsey's troubled Jaguars tenure ends with blockbuster trade to Rams
"Terms of Jalen Ramsey will talk about this he finally got what he wanted the end result the disgruntled corner headed to the Los Angeles Rams the Jaguars finally relented and Ramsey to the west coast for first round draft picks two of the one in twenty twenty one in two thousand twenty one also a fourth rounder in the two thousand twenty one draft here's a statement for Jaguars executive VP. Tom Coughlin given the situation with Jalen we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars for this season and well into the future we feel the trade that we struck with the rams gives us great value for the next two drafts and remain confident that our team today will compete this season for a division title Jalen Wasser Productive Flair but the time came to move on and we wish him and his family the best in Los A- Angela here's head coach Doug marrone obviously I had a good relationship with him and we were working together to get them healthy on the field and that that's what my focus was so he can get on the field and help us you know win football games and now you know how concentrating on on the players gotta here and and getting our guys focused on on on Cincinnati I think in his league nothing ever really surprises me anymore you know especially from the business side of things I found out like everybody else did last night you know lately point Dave came in and told me Rams reporter Lindsey theory joins us from L. A. and Lindsey listen there's been a lot of coming and going and all Ryder roster changes what's the general reaction to all of the news from the rams this week Wendy for a team that's three and three and in the mid of a three game losing streak certainly renewed buzz and energy at the team facility this morning now I am told the Jalen Ramsey is in route to Los Angeles and he's expected here later this afternoon or the rams do expect that he will pass his physical and I am told that he could be on the field for them as soon as Sunday against the Falcons now this would be viewed as a move where the rams are going all in once again to try to make a repeat super bowl run but I am told the Rams really believe that this is a move for their long-term future keep to leave and Marcus Peters or playing the season on expiring contracts Ramsey has another season left and the rams do intend to sign him to a long term engine now as you mentioned he's not the only new face here at the facility today Kenny Young Austin Corbett also were here they have passed their physicals though remains to be seen if they will be at practice later this afternoon and one more note Wendy Safety John Johnson is headed to injured reserve because of shoulder injury. Lindsey thank you it was a rare blockbuster trade a few weeks now before the trading deadline Ramsey joined a small handful of veteran players traded for multiple first round picks in the last third two years or so Khalil Mack and Jay Cutler garnered big offers from the bears the dolphins move two first rounders for Ricky Williams and it too big halls to get Herschel Walker an Eric Dickerson listen we can go back to the jags but since June Ramsey is moving onto the rams let's start with what he means for the La Rams Right now we'll Wade Phillips now gets a play defense the way he wants to Wakefield's really wants to play in your face on the line of scrimmage with the defensive line pressure and then in your face on the live with men cover corners. He hasn't been able to do that to be honest with you with Marcus Peters Marcus Peters is not not played good man to man coverage needs a better zone corner so now wade having Jalen gets the opportunity to get back to Colin defense the way he wants to do it I'll be really interested to see if they use Jalen the way we want I bill belichick thrill reverse where you put him on the team's best number two receiver and then everybody else gets to get double teams opposing for the opposing offense but it makes their defense significantly best Champ Bailey the dion sanders I mean the great quarters you can do that lock him up and then roll the other side I think you'll see that the other thing that was curious for me was that Tom Coughlin mentioned that Jaguars were better this year and going forward I think maybe either that was miss written or because they're not speak they're not better by getting a great player out of there so I miss quotes tim so expe- Joe Joe Listen you were you were spot on Jalen Ramsey never changed his stance which is what you asserted from the get-go and I would assume just finally came to a point where it just made no sense to have him on a roster when he wasn't going to win this transaction happened yesterday the first thing came to my mind is how often the people I was always talking to that this was going to work out for Jalen Ramsey like there was no fretting I didn't hear any fear and now that this is resolved itself in the way that it has it kind of plays into the tone that I've been hearing all along now I was talking to a source obviously familiar with Jalen Ramsey. They said that he's excited considering this a fresh start to be with the rams I think one of the questions that I had in talking to ram source last night was why not hold onto Marcus Peters to have opposite Jalen Ramsey in terms of making this movie now one thing that the ram source said to me is that it looked like it was clear that less need did not want to pay marcus. Peters beyond this year he's eligible unrestrained the free agency next year and it was better just to rip off quote unquote the band-aid now so then it becomes well who is opposite Jalen Ramsey for this game against the Atlanta Falcons they mentioned that two thousand seventeen when cal Roby Coleman I came to the teen that he did fill in for a keep to Leon outside first and second down and then on Nichols would have him excuse me on third down having a nickel or sometimes have troy hill on the outside and then have an RC in the middle so expect something like that or combination of that against the Falcons either way Julio Jones saw the rams problems in the short turn no because the opposite of the ball is atrocious right now and that's been there issue as far as being a front now what I will say is it does play into them getting better though like we can focus on golfing what this offense has been doing but with the guy like Jalen Ramsey not only does he hell Aaron Donald give him a maybe a half a second more to get to the quarterback he also may be able to steal a possession to for you and this ninety four was out there so air down gets another piece on the back end that can help him hold off quarterbacks for a second for him to get there and that's that's really all I can think about so maybe you

Jalen Ramsey trade grades: Rams complete cornerback overhaul
"The rams have made a nother monster trade and this time they've traded for the best player available on the trade market Jalen Ramsey generally considered the best cover corner in the NFL extremely unhappy in Jacksonville it has been asking for a trade for weeks yeah is on his way to the ramps it is being reported by multiple sources now including Adam Schefter that the rams are acquiring jalen Ramsey for two first round picks a first round pick in twenty twenty a first round pick in twenty twenty one and a fourth round pick in twenty twenty one three total draft picks including two number ones all right king of the Ramle what he is saying I I'm so as soon as I traded Marcus Peters I thought are you initially said wait a minute keep Ta- Leib Injured Reserve yesterday Marsha I have no corner they have no corners could this be Jalen Ramsey and you're right yes it is Jalen Ramsey this is what I love about less need and Kevin often the ramps are constantly pushing their chips to the middle of the table you know three and three did not look good after that loss to San Francisco major upgrade to the defense ager upgraded the defense and by the way they also added a pretty good linebacker and Kenny foster and they added an offensive Lineman in Austin corporate earlier today for the Cleveland browns they are they are trying to accumulate Talat to turn this around at one correction you said Kenny foster it's Kenny Young's thirty on Kenny went to Ucla and was great at Ucla she was What's interesting now is what do I always pound on the table with the doctor bus pounded into me star driven town Yes star driven town star driven town no matter what you say star Driven Town Yep the rams now have five different players who are the top paid player at their position Jared Goff Yup uncooked. Yup Todd Gurley Aaron Donald and we assume jalen Ramsey we assume this trade is being made with the idea that Ramsey will sign a long term. term gas contract because if not it's all it's a lot to give up that is a lot every time the rams have wanted to sign somebody to a long term deal they've gotten because remember Marcus Peters on his fifth year option and there was plenty of speculation that the rams were not going to extend him now they've got a younger more accomplished cornerback in Jalen Ramsey who I think there's a much higher comfort level in signing for the long term and by the way he's going to be fun to talk to fun to cover he's a fascinating guy he's not afraid of a great quote and he also happens to be arguably the best cover corner in the NFL well and you have a guy like this it basically takes away half the field yes you just have to defend the other half 'cause you know Jalen Ramsey can guard the elite wide receivers that put him on an island silent or Dion island that's this guy and he's not even twenty five years old

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott back at practice
"The way zeke is now at practice for the cowboys. He signed his contract about fifty million bucks a year which is top of the class. It's in that todd gurley class and i know the rams this morning love their todd gurley contract is he got hurt but zeke zeke is an important player. I don't buy that zeke's the most important player i think dak prescott is the franchise. He's gonna make over double zeke makes he's the guy went in front of the microphone. He's the guy won't touch the ball late but zeke isn't a lot of wow he's twenty three touchdowns thirty five hundred yards but he went a bunch of games and i think he's a grown up in an adult and i think it's dax team. I don't think it's zeke's team. Although i think zeke is really talented. I think aaron donald really talented but i think it's jared goff's team in sean mcvay team not aaron donald in los angeles but i will say if you're a high school running back in college running back n._f._l. Running back this is a good day for you because zeke got paid and there is this narrative out there now that running backs analytically don't deserve the the money

Aaron Donald relishing first Rams training camp since 2016
"Rams training camp breaks over the weekend and one story we were accustomed to seeing was not a thing Aaron. Donald is actually their last two years Aaron Hotel no Aaron Donald is actually they're participating in an actual training camp. The last couple seasons Aaron. Donald hadn't been there as part of a contract hold out last year. They came to the terms and Aaron Donald. Actually there and Donald is looking to become the first player in N._F._l.. History to win defensive player of the year three times in a row the only other people who've done it two times in a row Lawrence Taylor eighty one eighty two J._J.. Watt in two thousand fourteen and fifteen so Aaron Donald Looking this season to make some history as the rams are obviously looking to get to the Super Bowl and win at this time. It's GonNa be difficult as can be very difficult and is not a based upon the results. It's not based upon his play is based upon human tendency

NFL Trade Rumors and Buzz
"And they're like what is the buzz about here? And I was like we'll Cuyler Murray's Wayne, but he's not even gonna test. Yeah, there there isn't mother isn't a there isn't one specific thing that people are really buzzing about I think there's a several position groups that are really interesting. I think the offensive linemen and the receivers have some really interesting players receivers, particularly there's like the whole spectrum of type of players. I mean, you've got decay Metcalf. You've got I came and then he got Markey's Brown, and like smaller shifty guys you've got AJ Brown who looks like a running back playing receiver. There's just all kinds of guys in. So there there's a lot of I think if you're if you're gonna say there's buzzer excitement about anything. It's it's watching receivers as watching the offensive lineman, obviously defensive lineman is going to be huge this week. Oh. Ed oliver. I think that was actually kind of an interesting thing this morning, he weighed in I think it to eighty seven. So that was a good way for him. That's plenty. Yeah. That's like more than what Aaron Donald waiting now. Obviously that's a comparison. That happens a lot. I don't think he's earned Donald. But he's a very good player very explosive and being at two eighty seven is a very good number for him. We'll see how he tests. I think that he over the next few days he could generate a lot of buzz of among the receivers. Is there anybody that you particularly like, it's just one of your guys? I think you came about a starting to he started to I I mean, I'm standing out to you a little bit. As things you've said to me in tweeted, I'm reticent to say, he's my guy because I there are worries with him in terms of drops and his like, he's just massively few look at his web chart on. Oh credible through the measurements. It's just he's like ninety eight th percentile in every day. Big, man. I think actually I heard that he set the record for wingspan at receiver position at the combine almost eighty four inch got. Yeah. So he's got an insane catch radius. I'm a little worried about like. You know, his ability to separate his his consistency as a catcher, but he has immense upside I'll put it that way like his ability to get behind. The defense is really good. He's really long strider really fast. So I wouldn't necessarily say he's like, you know, my pound the table guy. But I do like him a lot. I'm really interested to see how akilah Harry runs think. He's just kind of one of those guys that's really polarizing right now because we're from Arizona state. He he's a guy that is like really big physical super productive. But he's also sort like, there's he's kind of in the alshon Jeffery shor mold where you're like Kenny separate or is he gonna have to only sorta use his body in wind contested catches and things like that. I think he's going to be really interesting. The Stanford guy JJ JR Sega white said Whitehead is really interesting player. He's like form basketball player box out king. Like if you watch him they just throw it up into the end zone.
