The Yankees hitting five home runs in an inning for the first time in their history as one out later, Giancarlo standing Glaber Torres follow with long balls to chase Chase Anderson in a 10 7 win. Aaron Boone on his team's longball prowess. That was a lot of fun. I mean to see the guys, you know, obviously a tie game going into that inning and then you know, everyone just started unloading with just really good at bats. Um You know, Frasier starts that ending off. I think with a walk, and then Gary smokes a ball and then Gardy in the seats, And here we go and again just really good to see everyone contributing in New York, setting a major league record. 19 home runs over a three game span 17 to hit five home runs in one inning, the first team with six or more home runs in three straight games. Even John Carlos Dame was impressed. You know, it's like it's gonna end. We don't want to, You know, um, We got a lot of fun the whole game in that inning, especially but turns out we need every bit of.

"It, all means a little less like the regular season, but the Yankees are going to beat it. You. Know, you're not going to be fighting for a playoff spot is what I'm saying. So there's a little. These are a little less important you're. Just hoping to be healthy and feeling good going into October. But I just don't want to be losing to the raising giving them confidence just do not want they've won winning. It's the Tampa Bay rays this year in six games rather. Yeah. So that's a problem like the gotTa beat the razor of good baseball team I think crops tweeted out of when the Yankees don't play the Red Sox. Eight like. When they don't play the raised fifteen free. Okay. Good counter. That's a lot of things that has happened I said. So in the eighties don't play the Red Sox this year they're nine and eat. But if you WANNA flip it when they don't play the raise this year they're fifteen. Over because we lost five race. What the three game series in the playoffs this year are the raise the scariest team to go up against that in the Al.. Possible Mellon Gloss knows a really scary matchups I feel like glass. No just seems like he gets taller every time he pitches he's always he just he looks normal. And skinny but every time I see him, I think he's like seven, one, seven, three, he's. He's probably six seven. I don't know there's a weird like optics with him and he's nasty and the have had his number. They did not have tonight. He was very, very good tonight. He throws a very wicked curveball and a very, very, very wicked fastball a that's just not a guy. You WanNA see Snell. Yeah I mean obviously as much time before they don't have guys like when you take DJ judge and stand out of a lineup sure like they're gonna be worse but you also need to win games where you can only scored three runs especially in Glasgow Coal Game like today just that falls on boot that is on boone obviously Britain to. If he was hurt before he came out and he felt his knee guys say something also I don't know when he hurt his knee. And he'll be on the guessing by tomorrow, which is Great. You get Chapman back you lose Britain sick. Yeah. So everything's great Yankee Land we just can't PA-. We've had two positive episodes in row I feel like this. Of A nice? Time. NOPE, nope. No. So I guess we'll take. We talked as much negatives. Can I guess? We talk about coal. Another guy was talking about Luke voight. He sneaky got nine homers this year and is absolutely raking. He was leading off the other day which was so wild move. But like Kinda worked, he hit a homer in the game and he he he he has a good i. it was weird and like you know maybe that's what he was running in the as you're saying, he ran a lot in the and quarantine and was running around his block, the game speed leadoff Guy Luke okay. But he's got nine bombs this year and he is seeing the ball great I think he's I don't have listed I based off the top of my head, but I'd be hard pressed to believe five better first baseman and baseball right now than Luke. Yeah I mean I think he's a point you might have started garnering some mb people. So you need mile that people have gone down on the got nine homers almost three, hundred, three, seventy, two will be P he's been. Just. so He's just got. A good. You know what? What's this limit? Dick he's just good. Treated. moral. If feel confident when these up and he just especially when man. He looks good. slimness looks fucking. Member when people were panicking that he lost too much weight. No. No. I. Think he's He he went up Oh taco second deck tonight. That's not easy. Scary lost weight where the guy's a fucking Moose. Yeah I, mean he loss weighty turned into muscle? So yeah. I mean it's young three eighty opposite field. That's to do. He's fucking hard especially of glass now. Yeah. He's he's cooking the people who wanNA doubt. There's always meals people in the first couple of games whatever but. Most are I'm looking at now first basement in baseball. It's the most RBI's in baseball is the first baseman. It's got the most homers as a first baseman. I believe is ob peas right up at the top that maybe few people have on that but I mean he's got let's see Matt Olsen Hacia. San Jose. Abreu Freddy Freeman Moreland hosmer I'd say he and Pete Pete Alonzo's like down there. Of course. It's top top three right now in baseball Freddy. Freeman. I feel like. You always to say Freddy Freeman is better for first base especially with his glove and then. Matt. Olsen look voight. That's it. That's your top three. I think. So He's better that Alonzo once sticks look forward is way better like everyone's everyone's quick to compare. Pita Alonzo Aaron. Judge. Let's compare look in Pe Lonzo. Yeah. I mean. You did fifty-three hormones last year if he'd Alonzo but right now luke void is better boycott hurt his his pace before he got hurt before he was playing with every muscle torn in his core was like a forty homer pace. Let's not forget that so. They showed yesterday one hundred seventy five names these is and got forty two home runs. Let's just a hair over a full season. Pretty. Good. And he was playing through an injury during a good about of those games too. You know he tried to come back in September last year it didn't really work so. I mean just he's just a good baseball player. That's just all of this. There's no fluke to him. He's a good baseball player that the cardinals could not figure out in their entertained whatever What. Else we did I mean Yankees did sweep on Monday the socks. That's kind of a formality. As we said like beating, them should be expected this point. There's no robbery all that Bob aw. After Jordan Mugunga? Really. Well, and he just you only goes through into thirds because the rain. Yeah. But I think. He took a lot of positives from it. I don't think like, I don't think anyone was like all the rain and like you know what could have been it's like they saw the Oh that was really sharp Montgomery in that game. Even. Have a good stuff. Wasn't how lowest pitch was midnight stat padding seven.

New York Mets' DeGrom and Yankees' LeMahieu Both Placed on Injured List
"Jacob. degrom the mets we all know Jacob degrom, but he was crash from his start on Friday. With a against the phillies with some next stiffness, he'll start his planning on starting against the marlins Miami and you know. I'm surprised actually pitching to be completely honest because. The season is pretty much I. Mean I guess that he would be. He would basically just be doing it so he could get paid at this point, but I mean he would get his prorated salary regardless if he was playing or not at the mets are nine and fourteen therefore games out of the. Four Games out of the East lead they've already lost one two of their best players with marcus, stroman and Noah syndergaard. Know. Why he would even play. It doesn't look like the mets are really going to be doing anything in the division. So. I mean. A. Whole I'll just come back through another game and then and then pretty much just opt out of the season if I were him but. You know he's he's out there playing and he's doing a great job this season and you know you gotta come you got you give him his props for endlessly fighting for the New York mets even then they haven't. You know they've been trying to hold onto whatever relevancy they've had since the I think it was Twenty Sixteen World Series, Twenty Fifteen, twenty, six world series when they lost to the Kansas city royals but alongside him another one in another player from the Bronx went down this weekend. Dj Lemay Hugh. Aaron Boone said the digital mayhew is going to be out for about two to three weeks. He was placed on the ten day de L. With thumbs strain. Suffered it just on a swing in the fourth innings. Nathan you've all the which is not. Not a good sign for the New York Yankees but I mean they're they brought up Miguel and do hard their defense is going to go down but their offense will stay. Will stay you know. Fairly even Keel for the most part I would say they would go down a little bit because Dj here's a four hundred hater and Miguel Angel Harz in anything like that. But I think M Miguel and do Haro. You'll love the at a little bit more power to the lineup. And? They'll lose a little bit of the base but I mean they're they're crews in right now. So I mean it's not going to hurt the Yankees a little too much.
Aaron Judge ailing, uncertain for start of Red Sox series
"Aaron. Judge is an issue right now for the Yankees. But then winning games is not another victory last night clint frazier steps in and he is great and we'll wait to hear what's going on with Aaron judge who has lower body tightness he wanted to play. Of course, he got pulled out of the game the night before and Aaron Boone said, well, we had some leverage in the game and we felt like he just needed to come out and that was that now we find out is that a lineup tonight? that. It's lower body tightness and it's not just lower body tightness. It's his hip it's calf. It's is everything hamstring. What else did he say he said three different body parts so who the hell knows? Not Good but you just hope that that doesn't turn into something bigger. But if you're a Yankee Fan, how could you think that it's not I? mean he used to be that every met injury turned into a four month affair and they're still some of those that are going on it's now every Yankee injury turns into something horrible and something that is lingering and you don't see these guys and Judge Stan were the prime examples last year I mean everybody that went down and do our in Hicks. It was just one after another after another. But. Who knows? Maybe it's just a little minor scare and Aaron judge gets back out there but it is borderline remarkable. What has gone on with judge?
Philadelphia Phillies beat New York Yankees 11-7 at home to open twin bill
"The Yankees allowing eleven runs illusion, the opener, the double header with the phillies yesterday, and then they ran into Aaron Nola. In the NIGHTCAP, he gave them all sorts of trouble, but eventually, they got into the Philadelphia both another three to pitch to talk. Line. In the right field, that survey? That's GonNa find the gap. Stanton will score. Harper gets back in talk man stops at second. So a rig double for Mike Talk in the Yankees take a two one lead, ricky. Ricardo. seventh-inning call here on the fan I will say one of the things I like about the no fans is getting to hear the dugout. Big Hits. It sounds like you're at a high school game in central New Jersey on a Wednesday afternoon. He's guys are getting all pumped up there on the bench on the balls, put in play, and you can hear some of that on the broadcast or shallow with an RBI single. He was two for three and the bullpen closed out a three one victories. They split the twin bull, the twin bill rather at Citizens Bank I. Seven inning experience for Aaron. Boone Company? What did he think about? About the first one was too short, and then this one was just right. Make sense considering they dropped the opener before the seventh inning rally Nola struck out twelve over six innings. But the Yankee pitchers kept them in the game as well. Jonathan Isaac. Open, he got seven outs followed by Avalon. Green Auto Vino in Britain the latter earning his fifth save Luke void homered in the second. His Fourth of the season reading in all situations doesn't matter who's pitching what game where we're at at homer. Here on the West Coast. It's anytime. It doesn't matter Ohio three. Oh. Oh, to whatever you know guys can always do damage. We're looking to do damage competition about every situation there the savages in the box Gary Sanchez not so much right now over to two more strikeouts, the batting average down to seventy four, and then rubbing salt in the moon, he gets drilled in the elbows. So they'll. They'll check him out later today leading up to the series finale, Jordan Montgomery opposed by ZACH EFLIN

"Can keep rolling right along after last night's five to win over the visiting Red Sox gave them five W's in a row and ran their record to a baseball best six and one on the season. James Paxton takes the mound for the Sunday night series finale. Less than 24 hours after manager Aaron Boone rookie Nick Nelson come out of the bullpen to work three hitless innings and pick up a win in his major league debut is I've talked about really since spring and on through summer camp, you know one of the things I'm so excited about his AA lot of the young arms that are knocking on the door, and now Nelson's one of those, you know, and he was. He was great tonight and relief of Masahiro Tanaka was making his season debut coming back from that concussion. Now, If you're planning ahead, the Yanks have had yet another change in their schedule. They'll host the Phillies tomorrow and Tuesday, then play in Philadelphia Wednesday and Thursday before a four game series down a Tampa Bay, which includes a Saturday double header. As for the
New York Yankees to face off against Boston Red Sox without fans
"To Yankees. They're going to go for five wins in a row tonight when they play the Red Sox at the stadium. They beat Boston on Friday 5 to 1 in a most unusual home opener, No fans for the first home game and first game against Boston. It was definitely a little bit different. Aaron Boone watched Erin judge hit a home run for the third game in a row Tonight. Boom gives the ball no Masahiro Tanaka for his 2020 debut. And he does so with much uncertainty in this sport because of the Corona virus, Tanaka said Cases were expected. It is a concern that this is happening. It's kind of a reminder that we really need to be responsible and the action and the behaviour that we take Tanaka through interpreter Shingo

Yankees the Nationals open the season at Nats Park, and Dr Fauci is going to throw out the first pitch the first game of baseball shortened season. The Yankees will spend the next two days finalizing the 30 man roster We might have seen. But I saw a sneak peek of the opening day lineup last night and that tie against the Phillies with D. J. Lo Mayhew leading off, followed by Aaron Judge Glaber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton. Here's Aaron Boone. Yeah. I mean, there's a good chance that that's what you could see Absolutely. "Yogi twitter is pissing me the gods such a horrible hi how do wrong this was a guy who had never managed before at any level never even been benched coach AH Tober seventh and this is the lead felt like something was happening there is something of emotion in the past because you can't pay this isn't a story the interview the athlete it stays with you arrest in this sort of goes without saying but could you just describe it means to be the manager of the New York Yankees Yeah I mean you're you're talking about obviously one of the most storied professional sports franchises and America or North American sports you're talking about a team whose one twenty seven world championships and you're talking about a fan base that expects to win and the world series every single year So you add in the history you add in the tradition and you add the expectations in a market like New York and you could arguably that it is the most pressurized or most pressure packed job in in sports and so the guy that now has this job of course is Aaron Boone and he's followed a very unconventional path to get there but he's also from a very well known baseball family and he is the son of Bob Moon base et cetera bail Mattie Brio scored man access to score the phillies latest John was the son of Ray Boone and right there you have the first family in baseball history to put three generations in the major leagues his brother Brett made the major leagues a few years before Him who hits t to right field going back modestly on the track on Wall Red Bull what pitch one homerun this was a family that was essentially baseball royalty yet I think you can call them bowl royalty and of course there's the thing that Aaron Boone is best known for his home run in game seven of the two thousand three in that homer of course knocked out the red sox and extended the curse of the Bambino and red sox fans have never forgotten the name Aaron Boone I do think that he is still to a certain red sox Perrin Aaron bleeping food.

"Could be the major league baseball postseason is in full swing and one of those series that we're keeping a close eye on is the Yankees and twins right and the twins historic playoff struggles have just continued. I mean they've lost today is about a guy who is being very closely watched in this series and a guy who's been under the microscope in New York for two years now the Yankees manager Aaron Boone Right I mean let's remember that when Aaron Boone was hired before last season it was kind of surprising the New York Yankees have decided on new leader precip Aaron Boone is the next team manager would hire somebody why he's never been a major deserve it in the dugout coach and suddenly he was now taking charge of the most iconic team in baseball right and yet so far has done pretty well and so on offers us spoke with the athletics rest dodd fout Boone's unlikely path to becoming the Yankees manager and some of the things that make him such a colorful character everything from player impressions to spending time in the boot yeah and we talked about how in Boone second season he's turned his doubters into believers it just as a quick heads up for listeners this episode includes a couple of curse words from wondering and the athletic I'm under skelter and I'm can beat the Davidson it's.

"And I was like. How 'bout? About boone. How about are? You used to work with Aaron Boone at ESPN. You guys are tight guys each other's number. That's yeah. So why don't you just sit there and Buna text message series at Dallas pulls out his phone starts typing. Mid text from his phone lo and behold who's standing right there. The steakhouse Darren boot. Boot any staring, right. At me. The Dow's gets up walks over to Aaron Boone they're talking. I'm sitting at the table by myself. Now, some this is awkward I feel like I should get up and go over there. And at least introduce myself. I fuck I am like whatever I'll just high. So I walk over there. You know, there's a break in the conversation between Aaron Boone Dallas braiding and like the bone Jag Kravis. Nice to meet you stick out my hands, shake his hand. He's like. I know who you are. It was a playful, but fuck you away, then to be honest with the ARIS spec that are specked out a lot respect the fact that. Does if we did interview him when we interview him again for a second time because I did the same thing with at noon, IOUs, if I've ever tweeted something bad about you. I'm not gonna hide from that. I literally read at Nunez. My mean tweet about him whenever he made made an error in the field. I tweeted how often do you think what are Nunez thanks to himself? What the fuck am. I doing on a baseball field. And I read that tweets him. Yeah. Whenever you make an error. Yes. But I'm countable, and I will fact. Yeah. It's big j shit. Yeah. I mean, I'm I don't even know if he's ever seen it. But I'm because the people that follow me on Twitter, and then listen to the podcast go. Yeah. Yeah. You buddy buddy with new is now 'cause you had on your podcast, you tell them about all the shit that you tweet about him. Yeah. No, I read him might sweet I read it to them. I will do that again with Aaron Boone because I want to read him might tweet that said. Something to the effect of do people realize that aren't Boone is the manager of the New York Yankees because he hit one home run fifteen years ago. I still in compared that statement to sort of Dallas braiding Dow's Brayden throws a perfect game in major league baseball. And then he gets the ESPN gig. Now is in barstool Dow's Brayden, very smart baseball mind. Very funny. Great personality. He looks like animal from the Muppets. So he's I mean, there's a lot. There's a lot there. There's a lot there to work with. But the gateway to that was the perfect game with Aaron Boone if he doesn't hit that home run in game seven of two thousand three I'll see us against the Red Sox is he's the manager of the today. I don't think so that was sort of the gateway to be like and Boone is now a guy. So then that unlocks the, hey, let's go to ESPN now that is that ES. ESPN? This is a good baseball mind. We know that now comes from a strong baseball family. Now, he's manager of the Yankees. Does he manage the Yankees ever doesn't hit that home run? I don't think he does. I would like to ask are you aware of this you so aware enough to knowledge this so fired up so angry? I'm not angry. I'm passionate. I am passionate about asking the questions that the ninety seven year old fucking ball. Beat writers are not gonna ask these guys because I think and that's the beauty of barstool. And that's that's why I wanted to get to these winter meetings getting front of these people. Hey, you know, we're not just hiding behind our keyboards..

"The game. Like, I should do. So were his were saying. No, I was it was, you know, from again, you know. You remember what time? All the time. I always go the blueprinting before getting a quickly so over when he got his normal. Pitches. Routine faced his couple hitters down there. So now no issue with that. He had plenty of warm up here. He had what he intended to go down there and get Larry said he was able to get through his his normal routine where he faces a couple hitters and everything. So it wasn't an issue. All right. This is from me answ with both Luis Severino number one. And you just heard, of course, from Aaron Boone Boone did not deny in what you heard and what he is possibly said since that sound bite. He certainly has said that. Yes, Severino was ready. But did not deny that he started warming up late, and what you heard from Severino just a few seconds ago. Was there basically in so many words, Ron darling didn't know what he was talking about? And it was darling on TBS who has all the credibility as a human being number one. Whether you're a met fan or not that has nothing to do. There. He is impartial and fair as he has always been doing a national broadcasts. Make no mistake naughty. But the most diehard Yankee fan would say otherwise darling reported early in the broadcast that Severino for the most part. Didn't know what time the game started. He thought possibly that. It might have started a when his wildcard game started which was after eight o'clock. And of course, the game started at around seven forty two and Darlene was talking about him warming up not warming up until seven thirty to about ten minutes before the game started. And of course, there was a caller we had now again, I mean, the caller certainly sounded sincere said he was at the game said he took a picture with a smartphone of several Nino playing catching the out. Outfield at seven twenty nine. So again, and Ron darling as all the credibility in the world. And I can understand Severino saying, hey, no, everything was normal. And but here was Aaron Boone talking about. No, no, no, no, hold on a minute. Don't get carried away in. So many words don't get carried away. Severino was ready but did not deny that he was very late warming up. So it's an embarrassing situation. Because when you stop and think that Severino apparently didn't know what or allegedly did know what time the game started. And where was Aaron Boone if that was the gays, and where was Larry Rothschild if that was the case and from those who do keep such stats apparently. I mean, go figure this, but variedly Severino. Has was reported from earlier didn't have at least one mile per hour on his fastball. And it certainly seemed like he didn't have his game. Certainly not the kinda game. We saw from Severino against the Nima eggs from Oakland last Wednesday night. All right, right back to the phones, we go and they're all forward the Yankees. And certainly this is not really the morning for the giants and Odell Beckham junior. And but for the New York Jets to die from from what you saw with the on Sunday. But nonetheless. We have plenty of time to talk about that as the week goes along. But this is the story tonight sixteen to one and over before you can really be well, listen, it was closed for like ten seconds. And why was Severino starting the bore? Then why was Lance Lynn the first out of the ball van when you have the basis order, nobody out and you need a strike out a double play and what on the ground, and here's Lance Lynn already tripping over himself with a hole in the mountain. Listen it wasn't right for him. You could see and you could make the argument he stayed with him to one. And then you bring in Chad green after the game is getting out of hand. All right to the phones we go and Joe is calling from mastic. And Joe you're on the fan. What's going on? Hey, steve. How are you? Oh, okay. Joe? How about yourself? Now, not bad. Just got back from the game. I take my son with big Yankee fans and. China. For some bright spots in the game. And I wound up catching the ball. They'd hold it. The cycle. Well, well. Here's the ironic thing is at Austin role. Mine has had better than Severino. You know, we were all standing and cheering for him because he did see. Get the guys out. But I didn't know that. That was a first time cycle. Yeah. I over I ever in postseason history. And and yeah, I know and now that ball may be worth something to you. Threw the ball back on the field. Yes. I did. Why did you? I understand now. Okay. No. I understand. But that ball might have been worth some money for you. I know it I know it, you know, it's it's just a condition here. I am with my son. Assigned to game as we kind of we. We stayed and everybody else was leaving. So I did day. You know, we normally do you can opposing. Back and then it was cold. I totally understand. And here's the thing. You know, what was the most important thing? I mean, obviously wanted to see your Yankees win. But you know, what was the most important thing of this evening. Not only that you've caught the for the cycle that homerun you were there with your son. And that is something that is a little bit more important than you even catching the ball or the ANC is losing a playoff game. Whatever you were there with your son. That's a good thing. Absolutely. It's the thing that I cherish the most of the taking to the game. Correct. And then we pay we normally have a great time. And so we did anyway. And it turned out to be good. And it's still more games to plan the hoping to come back. Well. Well, the Yankees are now down to their last twenty seven outs. Anyway. All right. But are you going tonight or no? You know, I'm thinking about it. And you know, I'm just I'm on cloud nine right now. Even though they lost historic Lois and all the bad things. But you know, I caught the ball. And you know, I'm feeling pretty good about that. Nobody knows well, Michael fleekerman on the other side of the glass reminds me something that is also unique about you and your son the two of you stayed until the end. Yes. The end of Obama. Yes. Your your wife is probably going what a crazy person. I got married. He is late for work. My son is going to be late for school, and you stayed for the whole game when it was over in fifth sixth inning already. But you know, what you're a great fan. Thank you. You know, we we are season ticket holders. We go to the games. We love it. We wanna sing Frank Sinatra at the end of the game. It's the thing that we do. And you know, somehow, I'm just gonna remember this day for the rest of my life because part of history now next time next time hold onto the ball until you know, it doesn't mean anything. Yes. My name is Joe parrots, and I'm going to try and get in touch your whole bag for him. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Well, sure enough. But if you well, you know, the thing is you might have been able to take up to afford your son going to college if you had held onto that baseball for Brockhall already with the I never cycle that he hid for of all people on that team. Hold with the cycle. First ever postseason psycho. Frank is calling from the Bronx Frank here on the fan, Frank. What's happening? Hey, Steve how you doing? Okay. Frank. Hello. Yeah. Hello. What? Oh, yeah. I can hear you fine, which is unusual for me. Yeah. I've disappointed. Fan. It didn't look like they competed to tell you the truth tonight. I hate to say that and I'm not going to try to take anything away from the Red Sox, but Nepean evolved the I mean. He's he's not that good that Qatar. It's all day long. We're hearing about the cutter. Well, let me ask you something. How in the world? If you're scouting department is supposed to be a top notch scouting department. Does that come as any surprise any playoff game of this magnitude in this important and another thing is? Pictures all night. Fast balls right down the middle were kind of selection is this from the staff. What are they thinking? You're not gonna give me. Should we get it out? Especially majorly kid is this good throwing maybe four miles fastball straight and right down the middle wells. Yes, severino. Listen, even to the naked eye, and my eyes are naked. You could see there was no movement. He was getting way too much of the plate. And when he wasn't getting much of the plate. He was getting a lot of the dirt and little fumbling. Although all on the one on a stolen base Sanchez could not gather the baseball even make throw down to second base on a stolen base up. Forget who it was. But the bottom line is he had a he had a top ten listening has a tough time catching Severino and and to. Unfortunate for Sanchez and the Yankees said he didn't have more balls to catch the Red Sox. Putting everything in play with one out. And specially with two outs. First and see they they came out aggressive day came out ready to put some pressure on the defense. To put the ball in play. This is what they do. This is how they want one hundred eight games, you want a home homerun, you'll you you look at the ankles to one manufactured or you want to run that is produced from the legs. You look at the Boston Red Sox van is calling from Inglewood, bam. You're on the fan. What's going on? Yes. Hey, man. What's happening? I'm good. I'm. Head. He, oh, Ben, then a weather's Ben. If you can hear me try to call us back. If you can Chris is calling from northern New Jersey pressure on the fan. Hey, Chris, what can you say? Yup. All right. So let's just kill the whole notion that he wants to grant who cares about that. Three. Well, yeah. Ready? He would've gave up, you know, he would have looked horrible. To look great on the first. And if I were call I hear all the only thing I would say here in this is your on your dime. But first inning top of the first thing if I recall he threw four pitches and had two outs. Yes. Whether it was ready. It wasn't ready. It went through the first escape so everybody trying to make excuses. And. Whatever I don't know. I don't John with that. Here's the other thing. Okay. He you at game shifts. Okay. Scored russ. But if we really go back and look at when they scored those runs it. After Austin had guys on the walk. Okay. Is on finding then they hit the blast affect the Yankees. Don't manufacture Russell what like us the past. And everybody else has either one right? Yeah. You look at it. Now, he. Had to change. It's not gonna change overnight. Laurel? You know, like waking up, and maybe shouldn't change. I mean, you want one hundred games, and it's really one hundred and two as we speak. All right. We have to go to the update. We'll get right back to your telephone calls and get into more with the Yankees. Losing this one sixteen to one you know from that. It's one Twenty-one, you know, from the number no from the plaque with Harrison..

"One of the great rivalries, all of American sports in the games. They'll play this weekend or about as important as any. They played in a long time, the Yankees and Red Sox joining us. Now, our former teammate and now the manager of the New York Yankees, Aaron Boone, and at the ballpark. Good morning boys. You're accustomed to the live shots here on ESPN. So obviously something that you're very comfortable with, but I would love for you and text him moment and help us would've live in this rivalry. You were there Erin. Obviously, during times when these games meant everything, including incredibly dramatic postseason games. So Dan, from where you sit as a manager, just have different, are these games Yankees, Red Sox versus the other games on your schedule? I'd be lying if I said they they didn't seem like a bigger deal. We had a series here in may. Kind of a back and forth series where the ballpark was electric. It felt like the postseason I'll go back to two thousand three. When I came over at the trade deadline from Cincinnati, you know, considered myself up to speed on the game fan of the game. I remember Tim neighoring, who is with the reds at that point now is is one of the vice presidents with us. He said, you have no idea what you're walking into and the first trip to Boston and August I went there. My wife was with me and he was exactly right. I had no idea from the people at the hotel just how big a deal it is how personal it is. And when the two teams are are really good and and like this season, I think it adds to it and it's a lot of fun frankly, to be a part of so gooney when I was a player going into Boston, it was an emotionally draining experience. First of all, the small clubhouse all the media, four hour games, the fans are on you the entire time. Is it the same way for union coaching. Staff. I mean, do you guys feel a little bit just exhausted at the end of these series and how do you guys stay up when you know there's so much on the line. Well, the the staying up part is really easy. I mean, it's easy to go in focused for this club. You know, there's they're so talented, the resilient. They can beat you in so many different ways. So you know, you've got to be at your absolute best if you're going to have a chance to beat them. So it's easy to stay locked in. It's easier to stay up for these games, but there's no question when you leave, and when you get finished with these series, it does. It does take a little bit out of you emotionally and and you've got a really kind of get your mind right and set in lock in because the next game obviously becomes just real important, but there's no doubt about it that going into the series, especially when the two clubs are so strong takes a little bit out of you. And these are unique circumstances. Obviously, educate me a little bit here because I've just covered this on my life and bene- fan, but you're living in at the difference between winning this division finishing second is such an enormous one in terms of your postseason positioning. At what point do you start thinking about that? At what point do you end the players start? Actually having that conversation, we need to catch these guys to stay out of that one. Gameplay in circumstance. You know what we don't have. Those conversations are focus, for example, is today right now, it's the Baltimore Orioles. We're going against Alex Cobb. "They're pretty they're pretty progressive man i mean i thought by the way shut out to angelo getting aaron boone on the shared aaron boone stays phase out of the way he just he just does assured food and kappler anytime anytime every team in baseball shift neck i mean you you put that toward kid dominguez in a bad spot last night i mean he's a fantastic pitcher you you load the bases and pitched to an allstar mistake huge mistake you lose margin for mean what was it a one to count i think on the head was still you walk four senate pitch because he's a good hitter but the kid before him is is a nobody he's not a nobody wants soda has over thousand he's betting three twenty seven he is a boon durkin this kid he's been amazing one soda here comes seltzer who he is he's nineteen years old all right how about this for you that he already is a nineteen year old has the second most home runs ever hit by nineteen year old in major league baseball history bryce harper's i last season that's pretty amazing bank three twenty seven daniel movies batting like one fifty i'd seltzer i think you need a ding yourself for that was a good answer right was good work by salter let's go to dave in center city dave you're on wwl pay mcdougal back again hey i'm brant here know one the one reason my people i think are holding back when things happen like they did last night it's hard to get behind a gap when you're doing a don't move sodo is doses right can play but he should have fish too i mean you look was a dumb mistake kept making those on the job mistakes kinda brings down the expectations of people have well listen he took a chance i didn't think it was a no brainer either way i you know i was fine with it i mean obviously you get a force at every base you also make it harder if you if you you know obviously walked the the batter then you then you tie the game and into a certain extent you can limit your pitches in that process but you know i was i was fine with that i really was.

"The yes network here's aaron boone thought he pitch really well you know he's pitching on the six day where he had to shorter outing and it just stuff wise seemed to be really coming out well today in that fourth inning where we went to a lot off speed pitches really really pushed the change up there and i think a couple hitters got away from a little bit but he almost saw him step off the mound and kind of talked to himself for a minute rain it in and then he just he got after him for those last three plus innings after that little little bump where i saw him kind of step off and correct himself and and then it was off off off to the races from there this is pretty much you've come to expect from him obviously anytime he goes i feel great about it i mean he's he's a great pitcher he's clearly establishing himself as one of the best in the game he gave he gave us a lot today she's looking at it as more encouraging news when it comes to sanchez as at the plate another yeah and in fact our the first time up you popped up the ball to third i mean that's that's the one where it's like he's all over that pitch he's in a strong position and that's the one he's kind of been missing over these last few weeks and he missed it there that first time and you know i'm sure he's frustrated with it but can you continue to battle through there and obviously at us a big insurance run there with long straight away damn it was kind of a curious play there in the i think the start the fifth the pop up that sanchez was under and then kinda came out of nowhere it was definitely him being aggressive i think when the ball i went up gary didn't see it so i think you know with the sun being what it was the way i saw was gary looked at it and then kind of look to his right for maybe help from third baseman or something like he couldn't find it and i think sevi saw that saw that maybe he didn't see it so i just think he said i'm going to catch it and went up and got the rebound.

"A remedy dot com courtesy of the yes network here's aaron boone stuff was really good came out early thrown real hard i know he hasn't thrown that many pitches obviously a lot dipped on a little bit but thought he thought he worked to the edges pretty good the cutter the slider i think going in we knew he was he would be tough he's real well for him and he gave an equality outing no doubt dmed staff as a whole really kept the offense at bay clearly given how they've come back so many times is it almost odd for you to see them be able to strike at the end of the game obviously we always no word a couple of routers on we always feel like that big inning is in there for us and so there's always that belief in that confidence we have when when when the game is unfolding and really this entire trip you know we had a very successful trip overall didn't necessarily swing batch grade but we've been able to have that beginning at a big spot and have those big bats tonight we gave ourselves a chance late tying run on base the go ahead run at one point in both those last couple inches couldn't get that hit tonight to push over the top and he credit them for forget it don against us tonight severino five innings took him out after ninety three pitches you typically write him a little bit more deeper into the game what made you decide to take him out at that point just because there are going to be lots of times over the course of the year where we are going to ride them deeper into the game and i thought he was a little harder form tonight thirty pitches there in the first inning i certainly felt like he had a little bit more in the.

"The post game so it's refreshing and not very often very refreshing unique and novel to see aaron boone hannah mated as he was so then the bottom line is i mean filling out a lineup cardis not easy to do when you have so much talent and so many options and also dnotice notice with aaron boone and this is not any kind of knock it's just you know it's him being him but in the post game press conferences at aaron ruined does i always get the impression that it's like he's in the dugout giving signals to his third base coach to give a sign or two to the batter i mean he's touching his nose he goes to the bill of his camp he tugs at his ear he might rub one of his cheeks a little bit it's like he's giving assign notice that the next time you happen to stick around and listen to an errand boone postgame bras conference and the first time i saw it i thought he was like having some fun with members of the media giving them the sign to cut the post game press conference short but if you i mean you got to watch him it's it's kind of amusing because it does look like he's he would be in the dugout doing the same thing flashing assign to a third base coach or to sanchez behind the blade i mean he's doing everything except speaking about any you know well he's he is speaking but he's giving all these lines anyway so neither here nor there already and he's got a tough job don't you think as a rookie manager already managing a team in which he has so many options with so many talented flare this roster so again now the yankees lose it by the score of six to four the pen wasn't that sharp either you know from that herman of course with the nightmare and the yankees the show how human they are losing this one with the rangers by the score is six two four will get to the metropolitans will get to the upset in oakland california the mouthpiece and the shimmy shimmy the.

"Believes double one avenue bone is definitely not the correct madge of the yankees because he switches in lineups left and right up and down not totally his fault main it's casualness fulton bringing on all these big names when as you can pose you could put labor torres ronald tara servatius keep these young guys asked positions as opposed to getting these names like drury and all these other different that's not aaron boone that's cashman that may those moves by but i don't think aaron the right person for the job i don't think so we'll came well see this is after eight hundred and first of all mickey callaway with the mets with a great record i don't think anybody would dispute that much better than we expected has made a couple of strategic blunders one of them didn't work out and they lost the game one of them it didn't matter they want anyway all right but the mets with a good record you're saying oh he's doing a terrific job bajic mickey everything he touches turns to gold and so far the yankees are a five hundred team so everything aaron boone does is a terrible mistake he puts the shift on well managers are doing that all the time now that's the way the game is being played changing lineups stanton you gotta drop them way down at seven in the lineup he's dropping him a little bit he's gone third fourth but you don't want to alienate a guy and and get a guy thinking boy the manager has no belief in me eighteen games into the season so i think it's much too early if if aaron boone goes through the year makes a ton of strategic mistakes loses the team they don't listen to him.

"The constant building up of aaron boone i i just don't get it it's not so much that i think that the the those that cover this team on a regular and consistent basis in the newspapers it's not so much that they're covering aaron boone and the yankees as much as their rooting for aaron boone and the yankees spike stanchion but i fought that picture of boone in the post game in toronto spoke a million words and if aaron boone thought that it was you know it's obvious and he knows this he's got the press behind him i mean how the hell could he not know we'd have to be stupid not to know but aaron boone had a up moment sunday after that game where it was clear to me speaking for no one else it was clear to me than aaron boone says to himself a i've got myself into something here that is much bigger much larger much deeper than maybe even gave credit for because let let let let's make no mistake about something any manager i don't care if you're talking about a seasoned manager with a demonstrated record of proven results in the ability to relate to a clubhouse and make a strategic in game decisions that that work out more favorably than not during his career i don't care if you're talking about a seasoned manager i don't care if you're talking about a manager who's been around the block to three years i don't care if you're talking about a first time managers such as such as aaron boone any manager would love would relish an opportunity to inherit the roster that aaron boone does fresh out of the box in his managerial debut with the yankees and again never having been in uniform prior after his playing career ended.

"The book and by the you're dealing with human beings right and part of being a manager who's been around not gonna make all the right decisions but just the like the hardcore i don't know i'm going by the book no matter what ended up causing him twice this past weekend this faulted bullpen is supposed to be a lockdown bullpen and i i give david cone a lot of credit i give john flaherty and jack curry a lot of credit they all ripped into it yesterday every single one of them i mean i i wanted to hear somebody tried to explain this away and they couldn't because you know why the baseball people and baseball people know when you're watching a game they know the flows of the game and i'm not sitting here saying that if they did pitch to josh donaldson that they were going to get him out but if you're if you're gonna walk the bases loaded anybody who's ever pitched at any level knows that you have very little room for error if you have the basis low especially when you talk about one came in a wall ties it and you're talking about late in the game and even if you know the eye contact between aaron boone and david robertson's stuff annoys me on your right now aaron boone you are the manager of the baseball team you are the one with consulting with with the consultation i should say with your your bench coach pitching coach that's how you formulate your decision now if you wanna take into account in particular players personal situation you know i to me saturday was just as bad because just i don consensus got throw inning after everything that he had been through as part of last season get out of the game he did his job put somebody else in there you got more than enough guys to be able to do it i mean has aspirin and you left him in and guess what happens.

"Thanks new york baseball teams are ruining our easter what a day what a day what a day they look like the yankees are winning all day long four to one in the seventh year thought okay that game is in hand with that stellar yankee bullpen and do to do mr robertson comes in and oh we will talk about the call the aaron boone decision to allow him to pitch to smoke who it hit a home run in the seventh and promptly gave you a grand salami and the eighth and the mets sees had their part they ruining the day losing the saint louis cardinals after taking the first two the series and gary komo's saying through the whole broadcast the mets can't close out series whether they're winning the first two losing the first two splitting the first two they invariably lose the third game and very often on a sunday and and you don't know what the heck they're doing saturday night wherever they are but sixteen and thirty six i think he's was the record or twelve thirty six something horrible on the third game of series three game series and they follow through with that today as stephen maths throws a lot of pitches not a lot of good ones matt's was was high i part of the game and i'm not talking about his demeanor about his pitches throwing high fastballs wasn't finishing his pitches wasn't getting on top of his pitches which especially affected his breaking balls they had not have as much sink on them and they were kind of moving laterally.

"Do you think he starts to stumble and bubble you know bumble well he well he'll be making some rookie mistakes that's it never too well but then even even veteran managers can make the wrong decisions if the execution by the players is not there or if he just know screws up with double switches when he asked to make one within early i mean there's to be a number of examples how he's handling the ball van whether he's overworking guys are under i mean there's all kinds of issues and everybody is going to be paying attention via the way there was you know listening to aaron boone and the reason i kind of a alter the voice a little bed that's my way of putting quotes around aaron boone when you are hearing about aaron judge is going to be batting number two that's not aaron boone that's brian cashman aaron boone is not really managing they new york yankees when you hear aaron boone talk you're really listening to brian cashman cashman will set the lineup most of the time i'm sure that you know there might be moments where aaron boone is allowed to make up the lineup that has been set in stone by brian cashman so you will hear all season long for bone about this and about that and about everything all shades of gray in between we're really hearing we may be listening to erin bone but we're hearing brian cashman joey is calling from the bronx joey you're on the fan of new york city what's going on joey no joey is exciting excited man i'm telling you i love disagree we don't need a quarterback because he like he got hurt i fifteen years so you're gonna be quarterbacking here's a big a quarterback he he's gonna be on the sideline thing is employees go back and starts one game okay so we need a one in back hopefully we pick him in the second round that cleaning don't pick him in the first week the second because oh and the and the and about a in an indiana every day the the break hall of famer he's your next oj simpson this guys you you you don't even call will be good weather is good because he did he do garage numbers in california he's okay web you know asia year under his belt by the time retires he'll.
