"But shouldn't game changing series turning to run home runs be a get on my back and follow me moment. And twice the Dodgers have recovered, have gotten those home runs and been like, let's lose. Like, it's just weird. It is weird. And look, we'll keep talking about the Red Sox. Complementing the Red Sox, the Red Sox have say what you want. Traded Mookie betts great. Guess what? They went out and they got guys who had chips on their shoulders and had personalities that that really put them over the edge and allowed them to perform in these big game situations. KK Hernandez, why did he leave the Dodgers? He wanted more playing time. He wanted a starting role. He was ready to start playing Morgan. And it was hard for the daughters to incorporate into him into their plan because of the depth that they had. And the Red Sox were like, great. We'll take a chance on a guy who wants to play who wants to know him from team PR. And then you look at you look at a guy. I know Chris sale obviously is was acquired a long time ago, but, you know, that's an ace that that's a great personality to have at the top of your rotation who's yelling who I know it's annoying to me. I hate it. But he clearly moves the needle for that team in that motivation regard. You look at Alex Quora, very outspoken guy, supports his players also, is it afraid to be honest in candid? He's the opposite of Aaron Boone. I know, I know we're mostly talking about players right now, but that also that also goes hand in hand with influencing the culture and whatnot. So I think I do think it's valid and I think the big problem a big problem with the Yankees is they're just looking at numbers. Great. Who hits home runs? Who gets on base? Who has a high spin rate? Okay, bring them in, cool. And then you have a roster of robots. I love Aaron judge, but like, Aaron judge, you didn't start saying like cool stuff until like the final week of the season. And it's like, okay, where was this when we were 41 and 41.

"At <Speech_Male> <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Advertisement> <Speech_Music_Male> <Music> the end of the <Speech_Male> day. I think i <Silence> think <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> i say <Speech_Male> that. The majority <Speech_Male> of people who watch <Speech_Male> his team will agree <Speech_Male> that the players <Silence> on the field were not <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> right fit <Speech_Male> for what they needed to <Speech_Male> get to the promise. <Speech_Male> Land whether they <Speech_Male> performed perfectly or <Speech_Male> not still wasn't <Speech_Male> the right like the. The <Speech_Male> style of baseball was <Speech_Male> not so <Speech_Male> if you're going to apply <Speech_Male> the analytics <Speech_Male> to a <Speech_Male> to this team won. <Speech_Male> I hope <Speech_Male> that they're able to <Speech_Male> tweak. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> You could still <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> be Likley <Speech_Male> driven and not <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> totally <Speech_Male> totally dependent <Speech_Male> on <Speech_Male> the homeroom <Speech_Male> bust or <Speech_Male> the strikeout. <Speech_Male> You can still. You <Speech_Male> can still find that <Speech_Male> that that mix <Speech_Male> and i'm <Speech_Male> i'm very hopeful <Speech_Male> that they <Speech_Male> don't. I hope <Speech_Male> i pray that <Speech_Male> they can find that mix <Silence> because when you look at somebody's other <Speech_Male> teams. <Speech_Male> They still had they. <Speech_Male> They hit the ball. They spray <Speech_Male> the ball <Speech_Male> They have they have guys <Speech_Male> who can. Who can <Speech_Male> who can hit. Houston <Speech_Male> struck out the leeson <Speech_Male> in the american <Silence> league this year. Yep <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> and <Speech_Male> they're <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> analytically driven. <Speech_Male> Right there homerun team <Speech_Male> but <Speech_Male> they struck out. <Speech_Male> They had the least <Silence> amount of strikeouts <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> as offense. <Speech_Male> If <Speech_Male> you could just cut the strike <Speech_Male> outs sound <Speech_Male> if could just cut <Speech_Male> the strike out guys down. <Silence> Cut them off. The team <Speech_Male> fit <Speech_Male> in some some <Silence> roller guys. <Speech_Male> Oh my god <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> it would be such <Silence> a better brand. Today's while <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> the watch <Speech_Male> and you also <Speech_Male> need guys that can play. <Speech_Male> Better defense <Speech_Male> more athleticism. <Speech_Male> You need smarter baseball <Speech_Male> players. I think there's <Speech_Male> far too many dumb baseball <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> players on the team. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> And when you have a dumb manager <Speech_Male> and dumb baseball <Speech_Male> players do a lot of dumb <Speech_Male> many one trick ponies <Speech_Male> is what they are <Speech_Male> there too many too <Speech_Male> many adam dunn's as we <Speech_Male> said before too many <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> out of don's you cannot <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> win with multiple <Silence> <Advertisement> adam. Dunn's <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> work <Speech_Male> joe gallo <Speech_Male> strikeout out two hundred times. <Speech_Male> That's not saint. Louis <Speech_Male> kill him. So that's what i'm <Speech_Music_Male> saying. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> This is going to be <Speech_Male> a lot to talk about <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> Arbitration <Speech_Male> stuff that we're gonna talk <Speech_Male> about restrictions important <Speech_Male> this year. There's there's a <Speech_Male> lot. Nineteen guys <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> arbitrate eligible. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> We'll <Speech_Male> talk some big decisions. <Speech_Male> Area made their. I think <Speech_Male> we'll talk about that coming <Speech_Male> up on a on an <Speech_Male> episode very soon <Speech_Male> Scott <Speech_Male> i will do our annual <Speech_Male> general manager <Speech_Male> game that we <Speech_Male> always do <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> as always lingering <Speech_Male> so sure that'll <Speech_Male> throw <Speech_Male> her first baby <Speech_Male> december first. <Speech_Male> That'll throw <Speech_Male> some wrenches in everybody's <Speech_Male> plans because <Silence> they'll be a shit show there <Speech_Male> but we <Speech_Male> obviously <SpeakerChange> had to talk about <Speech_Male> the news <Speech_Male> today. "Him. This is like your your one thousand percent all in on. You've got to win a championship. And you cannot win it with this car. Roster and i feel like brian cashman knows that bhai by acknowledging that the roster that they had even after the trade deadline not winnable not winnable in deep into the post postseason. So what does that say that says that we need to shake up this roster in a pretty significant way one or two people that doesn't really change the whole landscape of this team is they need to change it up and started. Catcher is a big area of need. I just maybe this is a bad example. Because it's maybe an anomaly. I look the red sox and the main difference is that alex cora comes back and the team is on its way to the world series again. It's like you could see how much of a difference a manager can make and how much of a difference a bad also never but they never really lacked. Mookie betts was gone but they actually picked up that slack. Pretty fucking quick. The other guys around that the core of the team was there and they have tr- it's like they took the The partial season awful jd. Martinez was a shadow was was a shell of himself for that year and then came back. Denver's and bogart's are okay. Why did they come back. i don't have. I don't think it's all. I'm not putting all of that on the but here's a drastic difference. Do you think he's a big bet. He's a piece of it but but he's he's not. He doesn't affect the talent. That's on that team. They still have on that team and they they brought in they brought in. They smartly brought in role players. That are complementary to those guys. The guys that they brought over were smart. They were good baseball players. Good baseball players. That didn't follow the same pattern as some of their other guys. They they change it up. They added complimentary baseball players. And when you have complementary baseball players that will just again make the other guys better on the field demanding job becomes so much easier. You just become a motivator at that point like your are more of a rah rah guy than than actually going out and and effectively tweaking what you have on the on. The plainfield gives the yankees what they had. It didn't match. It was a tetris board. That got stack. you know in today's date myself tetris. I don't even know if that's still a thing. But the the roster was was not the right roster and the way you do look at the complimentary pieces of the red sox brought in. They pretty good baseball players. Not great baseballers not superstars but one that could play ball were ready that that complemented their superstars. And i give them credit for that yankees. The freaking look what they did and how they went from zero about to go to the world series effectively. Make some changes. Similar in that vein. Do you know many people in boston. Consider alex cora. The face of the red sox franchise yeah. I believe that he's outspoken. Because he's outspoken. Okay alex cora like love affair. But and i hate the dumb shit. He does some dumb and game stuff as well. I know in certain moments like like every managers to make the astros. The astros have have a-walking fossil as their manager and they're in their fifth straight elsia. Who the hell knows does. Sometimes you can just be so talented that it doesn't matter. Maybe that's what the yankees were in two thousand eighteen. Two thousand nineteen. Maybe it was aaron boone. Who was actually making good decisions in two thousand eighteen in two thousand nineteen i. I don't know the fact is two thousand twenty and two thousand twenty one. The team was not talented. Enough in the roster was not good enough to just wipe out all other potential issues and again. I still think boone is a potential issue. Yeah i mean. I.

"aaron boone" Discussed on The Bronx Pinstripes Show - Yankees MLB Podcast

"Years three more years. Well option plus an option. What's up everybody. Welcome to the bronx pinstripe. Show scott never joking about the fact that the yankees have resigned. Aaron boone two three years because it's the only way we know how to cope with the just terrible news. In my opinion. I think in your opinion as well i it out when i saw the news saturday for yankees fans because it's really the organization. Admitting that pretty good kind of mediocre is sufficient for them or they don't know what they're doing what's worse to take either way. I think we both expected this to happen. You know this was something that we identified. If they didn't make this change at the all-star break or in july at some point like it wasn't going to get near forty eight hours after they got their butts kicked in the wildcard game. Once it went past like thursday of that week and we just heard nothing from the team. We knew the writing was on the wall. This is what was going to happen even with the the mini coaching shakeup at the end of last week. Still nothing on boone. We knew this was coming. I don't track record. This is what they do. They said they don't they don't they haven't left a manager. I mean we. We haven't had very many managers in the last Twenty five years but the ones that have been here. I've been here for ten years. Plus you know that's that's kind of the mark and that's what they're setting up for again getting close to that so they're in they're in it. Brian cashman senate. They're they're in it. That means there's a cashman extension coming at some point in the near future to probably now. He's already got a contract through twenty twenty-five visit through twenty five. I thought it was shorter and there was an option in there somewhere but either way there there clearly. Staying long-term the steinbrenner family is is Is good with the direction and just. They're they're disappointed in the results because they had the ability to be there but they believe this guy so it just. It just sucks. I was like feels. We're gonna talk about the press conference but like going to rehash everything we've said on boone. And why i don't think he's equipped to be the manager. I've talked about that enough. It just sucks. That they are sticking with him and that they're not willing to make what i think is a necessary change like a legitimate change and now there were some positives i think from from today. Brian cashman pretty much saying the roster is not good enough which is not something he has said in the last few few off seasons basically That he always preaches. We have the team to win the world series this year. He admitted we didn't really have the team to win the world series. Could they have done some damage in his words yes but he also said he admitted we knew it could have been a first round knockout like was because of the jekyll and hyde nature of this team. So i will at least grant him that. That was good because there's some admission that things need to change. I think it's ridiculous that then forty five minutes after. Brian cashman talked about that. Aaron boone says he believes the roster is good enough to win a championship. He just sounds like an absolute moron yet. Another reason why. I hate that. He's the manager you. It's one thing to sit there and june july august and say that he believes in his eyes. Even though we see with our own is that it's not working because at least you have the defense of this in season. I can't quit on my team in season but now when your general manager at noon says this team needs major changes and wealth. Forty-five aaron boone says. No we got what we need in house. You just sound like an idiot yet. I mean you have you have you the ability at that point so now talk about the team in a in a in a way that that is relatable to your fan base because at this point. You're you're you're on a different planet than everybody else. Who's watching this team. So and and i guess that's that's part of the reason right. Read is part of the reason why some of these coaching changes were made as well because he had he had baseball guys in his ear too much and on the few times that he did use instinct and gotten baseball argument they are looking down upon that and that's frowned upon. So there's mixed mixed things coming like the fact that they need someone in there to drive home to to to to be the bad guy in the dugout but also they need someone. They need more people that are kind of following the company line with the analytics Going on what. That is yeah. It's mixed messaging coming from them. Yeah the the one of the reasons. They cited that they're moving on specifically from phil. Nevin is because they felt he earned boone's era too much in that they didn't like that Phil nevin notoriously by the way on the manager. Who who who has the boss in this little ecosystem. Aaron boone. is the boss right. We didn't know what this like. This is like when you when your child is hanging out with a kid that you don't like it's not the kids fault. It's the other kids fault. It's the other kids fault. Who's getting little johnny into this mess. He's putting him in bad situations. He's not making the decisions. This other kid is in his ear. Phil nevin fell nevins. The the bad guy here. It's crazy what what are we supposed to believe..

"Podcast. I'm at a minor ball alongside Thomas Karen ante and I just checked to make sure there are four division series going on on Friday, the Yankees are in zero of them. So very interesting. We're gonna move along from that and continue to the post mortem. Who's got to go? Who might stay? Why the New York media is prepare you for Aaron Boone's return doesn't it feel like it? Why there hasn't been a Brian cashman boon press conference of any kind since Boone said that teams are closing the gap in the immediate aftermath of the wild card loss, gap closed. We'll talk about the postseason games that have occurred. But let's also address some articles that we wrote that we think are irrelevant for this context. Off season moves. Clearly made in the context of the World Series run that never happened. And Gerrit Cole getting harassed in the Boston bullpen wheel address it. I'm sure we can all come to an agreement on this. Folks make sure to find us on Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts, drop us a 5 serve you along with a mailbag question will be more than happy to answer and I'm getting a little bored with the spiel clearly. I'm over and I'm going through the motions like the Yankees at the end of the 2021 regular season and postseason. But believe me, I'm gonna buck up for the rest of the podcast. Thomas Garrett, welcome to the pod. Interesting Thursday, great Friday coming up in the game of baseball. We are not participating. And the Yankees front office is doing their best not to butt in on the action that's currently occurring. We haven't heard a PEEP from them since Tuesday night. No, and that should have been there, what tenth time addressing the public for their team sucking for reasons that can not be explained. Would have liked to have heard from somebody, I don't know why there hasn't been more speculation that boon is gone. It feels like he's coming back. I don't know for how long I don't know. I don't know what this scenario might be. Once again, I think our biggest fears might be coming to life where they just might run this back for 2022 and see what happens. You know, one of the things that kind of struck me also was judges postgame comments. I know we briefly touched on this last time. Said he wanted to be a Yankee for life, but then said that contracts and trades are out of his control, so we'll.

Aaron Boone's Bullpen Decisions Don't Make Any Sense

"Like the managerial stuff in that sense is insane to me. We can talk about moving Joey Gallo to the two hole when he did earlier in the week and last week when it was just clearly not. I don't know how you do that. When he's the worst hitter on the team, laboratories is the worst player on this team. I'll just have to say that. It's just so by far. And then the pitching decisions I'll quickly go through. It's the bullpen. Look, you need your man. Your team top to bottom is going to do this. Not as bad as the Yankees are doing it. But your team is not going to be clicking and you're going to need some help in the form of the guy running the club. The guy who's executive decisions can sway the momentum of a game or can save the team can stop the bleeding at any point or can save the team from themselves and Aaron Boone continually does not do that. The Yankees the Yankees have Luis heel on the mound on Wednesday. Was he looking good? No, was he was he looking bad? No, he was wild. He issued 7 walks in that one. He finally ended up giving up his first runs of the season because of Aaron Boone's decision. But he'll walk he got one out. He walked two batters and then boom leaves him in for another batter. What do you think's gonna happen? He has no control. So instead of taking him out there and having the bullpen home, we're at the game, we're standing there at the game looking at the bullpen. There's nobody going in the bullpen. Louis seal is missing the strike zone. Batter after batter after batter, then file they're like we're at the game. There's like four guys up in the Jays bowl. Yeah. Just like stretching. Yeah. Hey, in case you need me coach I'll be ready. Yankees bullpen, like the bullpen catcher's throwing balls to people in the

It's Time to Give Aaron Boone Credit for the Yankees' Turn Around

"This is really shaping up to be one of the craziest seasons in recent memory for the Yankees. Nobody saw this type of turnaround. Nobody saw this team being galvanized to this extent. Nobody saw the rotation being this good. And the great part about it all is that, yeah, the Yankees did need that kind of fire from Aaron Boone earlier this year when they weren't performing. But guess what? We'll take it at any point. You got to remember guys, Aaron Boone underwent heart surgery before this even started. I'm sure he was still taking time to recover. I'm sure he was still taking time to kind of find his bearings and find that passion deep within him to really get the team excited, go out there and look, he's say what you want about Aaron Boone. He's defended his guys in most spots. I know the beginning of this year. It's kind of been problematic because it's been a lot of defending players who have been underperforming. And it's been a lot of excuses. I think the famous one was baseball is hard. We heard that one earlier in the year. Yeah, we know it's hard. But for as much as you want to criticize Boolean, I know a lot of people don't like them. He's got his players backs. And it was clear last night. It was good that he didn't allow that situation to dictate the game. He nipped it in the bud. I know the strike. The strike zone definitely improved after that. But you don't want to be the manager standing in the dugout watching this kind of let this garbage strike zone continue for the entire game. He saw enough in the second inning. He was fed up. He went out there. He led his voice be heard, got ejected. Everyone gets pumped. And this is the kind of stuff that you need. And guess what? Why not like the team on fire during an 11 game win

All Star outfielder Aaron Judge was among six New York Yankees. Players who have tested positive for Covid 19. This all happened yesterday. So that's the reason the game got postponed. They would have played the Boston Red Sox that was supposed to open the baseball second half of the season, leaving other players on the American League All Star team undergoing testing now, obviously, because Judge was over there at the game. They're going to have to ensure they didn't contract the virus to. So here we go. This is going to be a kind of. I think a lingering story here. Murder. Um, let's hear some sound. We got Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone on this Yankee Covid situation. It's a fluid situation that could spread. It has spread to some degree We have Three positives and and we have three ending that we've had rapid tests on and took the lab based tests come back. The the rapid tests come back positive and so on multiple occasions now and so, therefore Or well, wait now for the lab tests to come back, which I'm assuming is going to be positive as well. So that would increase our number. 26, Certainly, you know,

"Loss was the all time historic worst loss and it has me going through my head thinking about ways i can atone for my past that might undo whatever curse god has placed on the new york win. This game resumed in the sixth inning. In the after the pouring rain the second hour plus long rain delay. They don't call games anymore. I guess and the second that happened. I went to sleep. Comey bad fan if you want to. I don't care really because everyone with a shred of intelligence knew aroldis. Chapman was not holding on to that lead. Whatever that lead ended up being at the end of this finicky six hour. Nonsense you did. Call it I don't blame anybody who own asleep you call the you said this game. There's no point watching this game. It's either a win or it's gonna end with disaster because like you said Chapman in the rain not good chapman and not a safe situation. I did look splits. He surprisingly does have good stats in non save situations but like this was a borderline save situation because it was just one. More run wasn't safe situation when he was warming up. Yes So i don't know like like we've talked before peace thrown off any aspect of his access whether it's losing losing the the foreign substances whether it's aaron boone. Deakin him with that. Intentional walk against carlos santana. Whether it's i don't even know he's he just it needs to be a dialed imperfect situation for aroldis chapman or else. It's it's not a good situation for

"Must have but i must have been looking at mandy on the phone when when he made that call because it seems so early to me that was. It was very quick and You know so. Usually a good rhythm where i look with mendi and i'm holding them off. Apparently he said something. And then when i went to turn and challenge it was too late. You are clearly hot for for good reasons. They're just out frustrating. Is it in that situation. Considering you have replay you have the ability to go back and look and see if a run scores and it looked as though that run would have scored I don't think it would have based on what were just looking at now and there but Yeah very frustrating. i mean obviously. that's a you know. I'm going to challenge that at that point the game all day long but i at least want to give them a chance to to see both in case it's a total moot point. I listen to this clip. Like three or four times last night. And i couldn't believe what i was hearing once again. Could not believe what i was hearing out of the mouth of aaron boone where he says in one breath when meredith and and good for asking him. The question that needed to be asked. Hey it's the eighth-inning what are you saving your challenges for. Don't worry about what. You're guys down the hallway say just challenged the plates literally the game right there. Did you think about just challenging it immediately. Oh yeah we thought about it. But i wanted to give our guys a chance to look at it. That's a play. I would challenge all day long immediately. Would why didn't you. You're just so stuck in the need to check with my guys in the clubhouse on what they say before. I'm allowed to make my next move because you're a robot puppet and your shock collar around your neck will go off if you do anything out of line. Joe sherman joe sherman nail. Do with a tweet tweet from joel sherman on a bang. Bang play for final out in the eighth inning wire yankees even calling replay guy on whether to challenge just challenge. Uric are so stuck in process. They have lost a feel for the game. It's the final out of the eighth inning. Yes so stuck in. The process is such the right phrasing there because how many times in the post season conferences after the yankees got bounced in two thousand eighteen. Two thousand nine hundred and two thousand twenty. Did brian cashman sit there and say how they were happy with our internal process. We trust our internal process and were so close because we are happy with our process it's all about processes and as long as the process is on point. They don't really care about the results. Even though the process is not leading to the results we all want at the end of the day the crew chief umpire i forget his name was was in. The wrong is well at the end. I don't care about. I'm so dumb with no. I'm not blaming you on paris. I'm just trying to make point here. They were wrong but it doesn't matter. The overwhelming fact is that it doesn't matter first of all boone. Didn't even think after after hearing. He said he said so. Many different things the same way in different ways don't self circles. He doesn't at the yes he talks are still because his brain is broken. I put the billy madison challenge when they when they did the the competition. Giffen there about we are all now dumber for what you just said because it made no sense. Nothing made sense what you said. He was saying that they would have that run. Wouldn't have scored replay. Our guys say that wouldn't have scored so then. Okay why did you then get mad for not challenging. It was so confusing like okay. Guy said that don't do don't challenge it because they run would have scored so then why you get mad about trying to challenge it. If you if your guys said it wasn't it was just made no sense. And then even afterwards he said that it wasn't and clearly you look at the s replay. It would but this is really missing the point here. It should have been challenged no matter what even if that play was like clearly going against you what we've seen from replay this year is get it wrong not just this year all the time all the time this might as well. It's the eighth inning. You might as well you're not scoring a baltimore orioles. You better goddamn challenge to try to get that that run across because runs right now or at a premium for the new york yankees which is four which is sad. The sash bag orioles pitching stuff. This much is clear. Aaron boone is so completely overmatched and overwhelmed when it comes to managing a baseball game he is he. Just flat out is overmatched. He's getting worse. He's overwhelmed he's overmatched. He's talking self in with the media because he doesn't know what he is doing. He is not what he's doing and he's a giant to rely on other people to tell him what to do. And then what are we doing here because it you might as well be any any literally. Anybody could be out there in that seat at that. Point if you're if you're not using what you have seen in your baseball pass whether it's a manager or player and you're just completely getting putting instincts out the window and you're just relying on what people are telling you and process you of lost it. You have lost the game. You have lost the game and if that's if that's not completely apparent after last i don't know what what people are thinking about and what they're watching because it's the most obvious thing right in front of us. This guy is has lost the fuel for any any semblance of baseball acumen that he had at one point is gone. I know how it comes back. Because he's so reliant now on other people process and just what is apparently told that his job is supposed to be rather than what's in front of him in reacted. It's because he was not qualified for this job but he got it anyway. Okay so when you hire someone who's underqualified and put them in the most prominent manager a position in major league baseball and they are told by brian cashman and everyone else above him in the organization. Just trust us. We're going to get you to the promised. Land trust us. You need to be our vehicle to communicate to the players. That's what you're here for. Trust us on all the other stuff. He can't think for himself. he's not allowed to think for himself and he can't think for himself when it comes to managing a baseball game he hasn't. He has not developed any skills. He's actually gotten worse. Because i thought in two thousand and eighteen. He relied a little bit more on the instincts. He gained from playing major league baseball. And then what they were. They were instincts. They were in the thinking. The instincts have been just completely stripped out of him. He must follow the process or else as i've said dozens of times his shock collar.

"The bronx pinstripe. Show episode five hundred and thirty nine. Scott i want you to take a thirty second pause in. Just wait and decide what you want to say instead of just initially saying what's up to the people on the show like aaron. Boone did last night eighth inning in baltimore. So take a thirty second breather and then come back and say what's up. I'm not gonna take a thirty second breather. Because i don't let robots decide what happens here i don't let process and you know the the the nerds tell me what to do when i see something. That's so very clear in front of my face. There are so many problems with what happened last night that we had to come here and talk about this one game with the baltimore orioles because it was a microcosm of what the what is wrong with. This team team is insanely frustrating. And this today's episode really is going to be a therapy session for for the things that have to be said. Because it's so goddamn embarrassing. What happened last night now. Starting starting the game with with matt harvey starting. The the episode was matt harvey shutting down the new york yankees matt harvey thirty two years old. Thirty three thir- buys we'll be forty years. Old matt harvey hitching the league last year. In the last time we saw him pitch with anaheim angels the reinventing himself for claiming to reinvent himself with hasn't gone into the sixth inning until last night throwing throwing making literally the yankees made him. Look like nolan ryan. You know this dude has a heavy sinker. That was apparently good from hearing postgame. He did not look good. He looked he looked pedestrian mediocre. He was around the plate. he was he was Getting hit yes. We have to do with the yankees. Be around the plate. they'll get themselves out. Are you surprised when when we did the bob segment on the monday show and we talked about number of runs scored and you're like so confident the yankees are going to bash the brains out of the baseball in baltimore. It's like why are you so confident in that. Look at this team. It's they're still not scoring even though they did. Take three out of four in cleveland. They're still not scoring lights. Things have to go back to normal but sell the wait before we even do that before. We even get into that nonsense. The though the eighth inning last night was a complete debacle here it was a complete debacle There were so many things that were wrong and that frustrated me and i wish the mailbag that came through from from monday's episode about the things that the little things that annoy you now that you're watching this like that. That's the first thing that went to my brain and what. I'm seeing aaron boone at their arguing with the empires. I'm just like shut the fuck up. Just shut the fuck up. I don't care what you're arguing about right now. Because in the moment i wasn't totally sure what he was arguing. But i just don't want to see you yelling about whatever it is. You're yelling about because that's not the root of the problem here. The root of the problem is a non disciplined that goes out there and makes mental mistake after mental mistake after mental mistake and doesn't change the approach in anything that they do. It's mind numbing watching this team play and it's sad to say that but it is. It's painful to watch his team. When i see aaron boone out there yell at the umpires essentially placing blame on somebody else. 'cause that's kind of what it is right. So why neat little bitch going out there screaming it somebody. This is not. This is not savages in the box. This is a getting your your guys back in motivating the troops. Because you're yelling just yelling because you're an asshole and you didn't do what was supposed to be done and Challenge apply immediately. But instead you're waiting to hear from all the frigging robotic people who are telling you know playing a game of telephone to tell you exactly what you saw in front of your own. Is eighth inning challenge. Throw the goddamn flag or whatever. Just tell them to initiate it and all this restarted. because your guy who was running with with With two outs growing across second base steamrolling into third base with a guy that has a good arm knowingly. Everybody knows that discounting report says that they send it on the broadcast ninety seven times it was a mistake and instead of fixing these little problems that continues to happen over and over and over. We are arguing with the umpires based on something that you didn't do because you took too long. Is the whole system screwed up. Yes the whole system screwed up the replace this screwed up the umpires are screwed up for. He should never have said no you have. You can't challenge it's dumb. There's no real timeframe. It was in between innings. It didn't affect anything of course challenge that play. But that's not the problem. The problem is this non disciplined team. Aaron boone using it as an opportunity to just get mad for no reason and guess. What if that motivates this team. This is going to shame. Yeah team come on no because you don't get motivated because like you just said the whole reason we're in. This situation is because aaron judge failed to do just basic one fundamentals. The ball is hit in front of him in lebanon. You're watching the play and you can see it. There's no benefit to us trying to stretch to third base your still in scoring position at second base you just stay parked there and you try and pass it to glacier tourists as if he was going to do anything. That dude has to be is on the season but yeah so you're completely right. You don't get motivated after aaron judge. Random them out of an inning but boone. You are one hundred percent right. He is saying he's basically saying whoa. Whoa we were going to score there. We were going to tie the game of the umpires. Just let me challenge and comments after the game to meredith. We're gonna play them right here and then you and i will react to them exactly. What happened on that ejection.

"But if he's going to get twenty five million, he's going to get a twenty five million dollar contract from from Japan to go back to his old team. Thanks Tanaka it was a really fun. Seven years I'm sure the angels. The Angels Easier Congress Day, another veteran pitcher to that's past their prime to sign. Your see with what was a guy goes over to America and does well, like Tanaka on the Yankees you signed him back for twenty, five, million a year you it's like it's marketing. You mean, for the for a Japan for the Golden Eagle Yeah he's a he's a hero back there. So yeah, it's different two different play. The top pleasure different talent, he may go over there and have a phenomenal season. The top player in their league six, million dollars a year. Yet. So there's different places in his his wife is a pop superstar. Yeah. I've never heard any of her songs though. Would you know if you've heard them? No yes. In the you align the power couple back in. Japan. It. Yeah I don't know. Do you think Tanaka still wants to? Do you think Tanaka would rather pitch for a MLB team, not the Yankees or go back to Japan. I. Don't know I. Don't know what his. From his comments, the public comments about the end of the contract it seemed it seemed to me that that it was almost like a a little a little bit of closure thing for him. Trying to. Sacrifice Tutsi- trying to sacrifice like what what could be his last start and make it a positive experience in the playoffs because it wasn't good in the regular season, and now there's two of them that are both that are both not good So bad taste in your mouth. I don't know if that's something that he wants to correct or he's just like. going. To cut it and go somewhere go somewhere else. Well, I think if if he's done with the Yankees in five years from now, we're not going to necessarily remember Tanaka for his. Playoff performance well, first of all people are excusing his Cleveland start because of the weather and and I think it's SORTA like not to compare these two. Jordan on the wizards no one remembers no one remembers Jordan sucking in two thousand and really really kissel because we're Jordan won multiple championships in the team before and I said I'm not comparing the two I just couldn't think of another analogy of Willie mays on the mets right movie mazes also hall of Famer and it's also it's also a different team. Yeah. On saying is. In. Five Year our people will remember the bulk of the positives and not the last the. Yeah I agree people will remember playoff Tanaka in his. None of those playoff Tanaka moments landed in championship so They're not in Europe Yankees Laura. So maybe he'll just be forgotten into the ether poof gone. Yeah. He could be he just he's another guy that was on the team that didn't win. He was a piece of the puzzle that was a big hype. It was a big fit and didn't have didn't pay dividends. Do you think not based off market value based off of results? Do you think the contract was worth it on their injured fifty million dollars? Value yes they I. Think they got a it wasn't all on Tanaka shoulder not winning by any means for result didn't happen like you said the the you know the combined. Powers it were these guys are more powerful individually than they are as a unit and I think that affected. His his tenure because it could have been different early on. He pays. His best seasons also were on the worst teams. Yeah that's the problem. Doesn't equate the championships. but Yeah I mean. So as far as the press conferences go. Like we got the gentleman was is big is a big point and basically they're talking about up we're going to do what we do every year we're going to let this team evaluate this team. We're going to evaluate the pieces and and make appropriate. Decisions and offers where we deem. Necessary and will feel good about that which which is which. Has. Me Worried, do you think they're setting up for a dry offseason because style talking about how they lost a ton of money and cashman and Boone are talking about how they have their process and evaluate and have the discussions on what we're GONNA do I don't necessarily think they're setting themselves up for something like that because we've heard them say that they're not going to do much or they'll do. It seems like this hit the same thing, every single year, and then all of a sudden they don't. They don't WanNa play their hand. They go out years ago, and then Giancarlo Stanton gets right gets gets traded for from and train cashman and jeeter happens Brian Cashman says that there are fully operational death star and then everyone thinks that means they're going to sign Bryce Harper and then they don't even talk to his agent so. Yes. So nothing means anything. DC Sweeney Sweeney murdy wrote those He wrote an article or he did something where he basically was like, Hey, Yankee stopped trying to be the death star it blew up twice. No sure. I mean, that's that's been something that's been pointed out early on the death star actually wasn't a good thing in the rebels beat it. By getting the right by finding their Achilles heel and and just poking and poking and poking and poking until the Guy Damn thing blows up and that's the strikeout. Is. It the strikeout or is it the starting pitching? If, you're looking at one thing probably look strikeout the strike out the fact that you don't make any contact with the pitching is spread upon like actually had some good moments in their from guys he didn't expect. So is Luke skywalker Kevin cash or is Luke skywalker arena or is it? No who's Luke Skywalker on the race did? INSERT MLB team here. You know it's just like whoever's up that you're if the rebels just like all the new star wars like there's there's different people there have been different people fighting this. It's not a it's not a long term thing. You got little segments, little iterations of people who are beating you but at the end of the day. They're still getting the. Yup Yup Yup Yup. All Right I. Be The rebel force much the rebel force will they win in the end? So yeah. So can we do that? skywalker is like a high priced free agent. I'd say that the force has a number of high price free agents. No Walker Scour wasn't free agent. He was he was a use a homegrown talent. He was a homegrown. Okay fine well. You could. You could go both ways on that the the he's chose the right, the right path, but the thing is. There were high priced free agents. Okay. When you look at the the Ron Solo Han Solo's a high price free agent. The demoniac Falco Falcons just alone. You add you start adding in The guys that were on that ship..

"They rely on the on the on the long ball, and there is a is a. Rested and ready to go pitching staff or A. Ace type pitcher like Erico last your who could come in and shut you down you're in trouble but it starting pitching I guess Yeah, I, think I agree with you overall because I think that game who is a is a pivot point for the Yankees in the. I. Mean If you if you get rid of game two and forget what happened there say that they lost game three was even bigger. The fact that the fact that. To knock him out and. And Shit the bed was a big deal. Okay Yeah. In a perfect world you know if if they stopped doing all the fancy stuff with game two and Tanaka, you game three and game two. If Tanaka Sucks in game two and he just starts any and he gives up five relic flip those games. Are we so angry that this? Angry about about the situation games you're probably not no. Oh, that's a good point and were probably just saying damn. This team has Garrett Cole and that's it. You can't win a world series if you just have one starting pitcher. and. That's that I think is a is definitely a takeaway but that's not like a revolutionary thing that we just figured out in the playoffs we knew knowing it no but I I think a lot of people are trying to like really just lean on this game to shenanigans where in fact the result of what happened the way that the series played out it actually In some capacity, maybe it had an effect of on the series. But if you put Tanaka in that game, the one, the guy that everybody was agreed upon that should be in that game or you know. Monday morning quarterback that Tanaka would be in that game. He still sucked too. So if they did that weird stuff in game three. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. They're trying to get by there like they should actually at this point because they don't have that pitching, do you know the irony of Tanaka having a bad playoffs? This year? Was He like he? He really did not pitch well in his two starts in the playoffs and it made it. So his stats, his postseason career stats are now almost identical to his regular season career. The five hundred it goes back to it's Maybe not. His era has fifth like all of those stats are within a ten percent difference of his regular season, which we've been I've been saying for a long time just because Tanaka has a one point seven era in the playoffs doesn't mean he's a one point seventy are a pitcher. It means he's had good postseason starts it doesn't mean he will continue to have. He's he's he's a solid starting pitcher. He's never been anything more than. That since his elbow injury, but in two thousand, fourteen was dominant starting pitcher. Then he had elbow injury and he's never been dominant starting pitcher since then so the nine eight getting the numbers that you're saying though like you, they're all, you look at the the the macro you back and you can get numbers that that should tell you some data but they really don't because you're looking at the regular season, which is a. Lot Of Games Mashed together, and then you're looking at the post season, which is a smaller sample size, but it's a good amount that you can get, but it's also stretched across however many years. So it's exactly yeah. It doesn't really tell you the full story. No because if Madison Bumgarner goes into the playoffs this year, he's going to go in with that unbe unbelievable track record, right but no one's like, oh, he's GonNa. Pick nine shutout innings this year in the postseason because he's not a good pitcher anyway. But in ten years those numbers that you're talking about that are now looking more like their the regular season numbers are going to be looked at differently. So I I think I had a realization. After thinking about the series. So would you agree that the rays are a team who sum is greater than its parts? Like, captain like Captain Planet. I don't know Captain Planet us. You don't know Captain Planet is Holy Shit. yeah. Captain Plant it's all the you know the kids together we are now. With our powers combined, we are Captain Planet is something that like Kemp is watching a no cartoon from like I duNNo. Then nineties I guess. Kathy I thought everybody knew Captain Planet let's apparently I went straight nine I went straight from watching like Thomas, the train engine to watching sportscenter. Okay. There was no in between. So Captain Planet is is a number of kids that have different. Skill sets and when combined, they are very powerful or they like the power rangers. I. Watched the power interest. Yeah. But the power rangers were always power rangers. They were still a team captain planet like became Captain Planet. You GotTa Howard. So With their powers combined, they are in ultimate force. Do you think an so on the flipside conversely I think the Yankees are a roster that is less than some of its parts. So you're saying the individual accolades are higher than the than this than the team in general you pick out you pick out anyone in that Yankees lineup while look at his Oh bp look WRC plus while Luke voight led the League in homers, isn't that the problem with analytics? yeah I think it is a problem with analytics. If the pieces don't fit together than it M- than you're not GonNa win a world series. Win A lot of regular season games because. You play so many bad teams in the regular season and over a long stretch of time with volume. You will get the results you're you're looking for, but in a five game LDS versus the Tampa. Rays, you might not get the results. You probably not going to get the result one of the fundamental problems with relying on choosing players or or going purely based off analytics is exactly that the sample size that you're looking at is is macro. You have to have a larger sample size to get the data that you need to actually make a decision about a player. Now. What you're doing is you're taking that that that data from a player that. Is Spread over time and you're dropping them in the middle. Of a short series and expecting the same average result or close to it again. The most elite starting pitching or relief pitching in the League So I think that the Boonen Cashman were asked about righty lefty balance in the lineup, a bunch and Boone said Oh in a perfect world. You'll have that balance because the Yankees, you look up and down the lineup in nine of their eight of their nine starters are right handed hitters and optically that doesn't look like balance..

"When you as a player, let yourself in and the fan base and send Yankee fans. All we want to do is see stand, go out there and hit and hit a town hit the ball a country mile, but They also want to see him hit the playoffs and ultimate oh, you ultimately ultimately Maggie. That's thank you very much. Ultimately. That is really how you're going to judge Giancarlo stands so yet it's is it refreshing. You hear that? He is just as frustrated as everybody else. Yeah, is it you knew that the Yankees are frustrated? You heard Aaron Boone say, you know, he did everything right. He bought in the echo Those sentiments. He heard it from Stan himself yesterday. Yeah, I think it makes him a little bit more human on DH. I think Yankee fans are not out there just to root against them. They want to see him succeed. So yeah, let's him in a little bit. Mohr gives him a little bit more of a touch of a feel cut him. He believed something like that. So I think the Yankee fan can relate to it. But Doesn't mean that it buys them more time. You know, come October big at bat postseason men on 2nd and 3rd 2 outs stand comes out strikes out our Yankee fans just going to be just as I rate Of course they are. Yeah, I think there and I think stand, it's clearly searching. Still searching in a sweetie asking a great question on the zoom, which was like, basically have you identified if you try to get to the root cause of why you were having all these injuries, and he said Yes. You know, we're leaving no stone unturned. The problem is, is that he hasn't been healthy enough. Long it off to know if any of these training tactics to identify why they're not working right? And so he's still a man who's searching for for what's gonna work for him, And I think that leads to frustration. Not just for him, but it leaves a frustration with the entire Yankee training staff. It leads to frustration with, you know, it's 2020. We know so much about athletes and science. And and why is this guy still now being, you know, being hampered by these chronic soft tissue injuries? And so I think that that's a frustration. There's another part of this, though, right that you heard in Stanton's response is there Still a lot of time left in his opinion, lot of time left come back. Have regular season and the playoffs. This is where I think Yankee fans could get themselves in a little bit of Ah, tight spot here, Right? What is this team shown you? The replacements are fantastic. And the replacements have hot hands. Everybody is hitting on this team. I mean, Sanchez started Come around, Glaber started crowd. You, Gardner? No, but you know what I'm talking about right steam hits a ton, the backup said. It's on there constantly on bass traffic all the time hitting home runs all the time. It's It's It's amazing right up and down the lineup, so if you have hot hands it Clint Frazier is still playing the way he's playing, say and do our comes around. We could find out that's form if everyone is running. Do you bring? How long view allow stand to find himself. Win. Now it's coming down to the back stretch of the season. And then you're going into the playoffs mean the baseball playoffs are phenomenal because they are so unpredictable, right? You're gonna have the first Siri's is going to be a three game series. Whether you're the number one seat or not right. You get home field advantage. Great. Jake is a 10 a tow at home. It obviously works. But how long do you give stand? If you have other players who are red hot. How do you sit those guys and allows stand to potentially find himself mid mid stride or at the end of the season. Even And Yeah, that's who are amazing. I I get it, but he's going to play. They've got too much invested in. Um I understand the the whole mindset of okay, well, but guys are hot bats will see. Exactly and things have a way of working themselves out. But Giancarlo stands going to be given an opportunity here. They're they're invested him. He's not going anywhere..

"Chris Lopresti, Aaron Boone with the latest status update on Masahiro Tanaka after the Yankees right Nadir took that Giancarlo Stanton the line drive to the head during Saturday's work out of the stadium. Feel really good about where he is. He came in about Around noon or 12 30 today and was in really good spirits and you know, I got a good night's sleep. No, no loss of appetite. I think all the signs are pointing. You know that he really dodged a bullet there, obviously officially diagnosed with a mild concussion. He is in concussion protocol, but Brett Gardner said Tanaka was walking around like his normal self today down, the Yanks will be holding interest squad games. "That's an option right to use that pinch runner right out of the gate. Yeah, no question. And that's you know, especially early in the season when you had 30 players, So you have a big bench. You can you know, Chances are you might be ableto. Be a little more creative. Um, you know, have a little bit more flexibility. But, yeah, Those are all things that, um you know, we'll try to be as prepared as possible going into a game depending on our personnel and and you know who are facing in the situation to Ah, to make the right strategic decision. Darrin. How about the relief pitcher now having a face three batters? I mean, what's your thoughts on that? And how would you approach that? Yeah. Um, you know, I selfishly I'm okay with it, because because I feel like we have a pitching staff that's cut out for that. You know, there's there's very few times. Um, you know, especially during the regular season where our guys are in there for a batter, Teo, you know, because I put such a premium on If I get a guy up and get him get him into the game. I want to use him because You know, you know, we try to stay away from using guys several days in a row or more than three out of four things like that. We put a lot of premium. So if I get a guy up and in You know, I'm I'm doing it, especially with our high leverage guys with the idea that they're in there we're using. It's not for a one hitter or two hitter situation, you know, unless we're may be finishing off an inning or a starter's given us some length. Um, but I feel like our guys are are cut out to get both handed out and to face more than more than one hitter. So you know, depending on obviously the matchups that we like we try and, um You know, get our guys in situations to where their face in the part of the lineup that best matches up with their skill set. We're talking Aaron Boone, manager of the New York Yankees, and they cast been alluded to it the other day that it's likely Giancarlo made D H a lot early in the season. Where is he physically? And do you expect him to end up playing a lot more? Outfielder? Do you look at him as a d? H mostly, we'll see. I mean, again. That's that's what the you know these three weeks. They're goingto obviously tell us, um, but then even into the season, you know, you know. You know if we start July 23rd say, um, That's three weeks from now, so we'll see where he's at at that point, and then you know, a month from there, you know, at the end of August, it may be a different point. In middle of September. It may be a different point, so we'll just see how he's how he's building up. I know he feels good about where he's at right now. So the the boring answer for you right now is we'll see. We'll see where it goes. You know when you look at his 60 game season, Aaron I mean, I look at and I say, but you know to me this levels the playing field in a lot of ways. I mean, I think it gives teams that No. Maybe weren't expected to contend a much better chance of contending. What's your thoughts on that? I would agree with that. I think it definitely puts you gnome or teams in the mix. You know that 1 62 kind of is a separator. You know it. It weeds out the fluke. It weeds out. Somebody is hot for A month or something That's clearly more more more possible. Now, um You know, I don't I don't think that affects us much and in our minds that it won't be. You know, we're going to go out there with an expectation every day that we're going. We're coming to be two down. We're coming. We're coming a win. So our focus doesn't change personally, But I think your point that does it open the field doesn't open up for more teams. I think absolutely it does. The aspect of all the rules that are put in place safety precautions that are put in place that players have to follow. Obviously, you guys have to follow. How difficult do you think that's going to be for players obviously played a long time You get yesterday. Your habits. How difficult do you think that's going to be for a lot of the guys? I think it'll be a challenge. I think it will be the team. I think it will be something that teams Khun Gain an advantage on And what I mean is the teams that deal with it and handle it. Well, um, I think give themselves an advantage because there will be teams that don't handle it well, and there will be individuals that don't handle it. Well, um, so one of our You know, one of my You know, Biggest messages to our club will be how we handle that. And you know there's going to be you know, days in this, you know, a month in three weeks and six weeks in where maybe a guy's having a rough stretch or a bad day, and he doesn't want to You know the nuisance or the monotony of going through some of the protocols is a reality and we have to. We have to be a club that uses that to our advantage. We've got to be ableto handle that. We've got to be able to deal with that. We've got to be able to live in that world and not only live in that world, but Go out and perform to our ability in that world and that that will be my one of my messages and absolutely my expectation of our guys. You know, it's probably hard question to answer, but you never really have had to deal with anything like this. But How about playing with no fans? I mean, that's going to be pretty weird. Do you think that affects anything at all playing basically and what will be an empty stadiums? I think it's another area where there's big advantages. The game. The team that That can Ah, you know, gain an edge from that, Because again, they'll be teams that that that probably You know, struggle with that they'll be they'll be individuals that struggle with that They'll also probably clubs and individuals that that could be a better thing for we've got to make sure that It's an asset to us, and however we confined that edge. However, we confined the the energy that we need to bring as a group day in and day out to deal with with whatever no fans..

"I just had to give back Aaron Boone show four one zero nine two two six six eighty did I say something funny yes right here on an open show is still laughing anyway I like the fact that I can be humorous without even trying anyway SO four one zero nine two two six six eight if you'd like to call in and ask a question I do have one call or online but if you'd like to call in and there's lines open for one zero nine two two six six eighty to direct the conversation in the direction you wanted to go into and I'm going to Barbara in Mount Washington Barbara how can I help you hello I'm seventy one years old and I have a number of Irish and then what happened this year I have to take the minimum how old are you one right but I have to take them I I was born right before the time that you could buy three seventy two right so you were turned seventy and a half last year okay correct okay so actually since the market is down I was wondering if it would make sense to take a fair amount of the fire at them to Abbas IRA and pay the taxes especially since the tax rates are low now and probably down the road they're going to be much higher yes it everybody everybody who has an irate especially if they're over seventy and a half for seventy two and a half to start taking required minimum distributions especially this year when they say you don't even have to take it this year but you normally do should be talking thinking and analyzing Roth conversions it is an absolute anybody who's not doing that is making a serious mistake now just because I said that doesn't mean that you should be doing that because you have to analyze the tax issue you have to analyze what's to go what to come across me to convert this money how much is what is my tax bracket like for example here's a here's an interesting point forty all right so let's say you get twenty five thousand dollars a year social security and you really don't make a lot of other money other than your says the security and you've got five hundred thousand and higher rates and you think to yourself we know Hey self I'm going to convert sixty thousand dollars of IRA money to Roth because tax rates are really low and that'll still keep me in the quote unquote fifteen percent tax bracket or whatever the case may be and so this is really great this is what I'm going to do but here's the point somebody with social security in those lower income bracket starts taking that money and starts to make the social security taxable if I had a white board here in front of you I could show you you're not in a fifteen percent tax bracket you're probably more like in a twenty eight or thirty percent tax bracket because every time I create a dollar more of income out of my irate I create fifty cents to eighty five cents to says the security is taxable and in essence one dollar of extra creation of income brings in maybe a dollar fifty to a dollar eighty five of taxable income taxes fifteen percent is all set in twenty to twenty five percent tax bracket not a fifteen percent tax bracket and so you know you got to just think of these things before you just run off and think okay this is a great time to do it we always do at least two or three analysis saying what if I do ten what if I do twenty what if I do a hundred what's my tax bracket what's it going to cost them yeah go ahead our work well my husband and I were to speak with you I'm not worried I mean we can talk on the phone I'm not worried about that aspect of it but how does it work I know you say you have a financial physical and then you pay a certain amount for the financial physical and then once let's say we we said yes we want to go with you how how does it see structural girl I know you're the only which I live right everything starts with the financial physical and you know so to answer the question how's it go it really depends on what your situation like after we do the physicals kinda like working with a doctor if I sat down with the doctor and I said if I come in and do a physical exam with you how's it going to go from that point on because doctors going to say probably right this is what I'm fine you know because it could go a lot to different directions there can be a flat feet a yearly flat fee there could be hourly rates there could be a percent of assets under management so it depends on which way the client situation is and what exactly they want us to do for him but everything starts with the financial physical that's why we guarantee the physical and say look you do a physical and we can't show you that we have the expertise that can help you dramatically or you just don't feel connected to us don't just tell us we're not going to charge anything because we're looking for a great long term clients and clients want that assurance that you're not here to sell me anything proved to me that you really can do this and if you can I'm more than happy to pay your for your physical but if you can't I also want to know that I'm not going to give staff for twenty five hundred dollars that's how we work sounds good all right nine well I wish I could answer your question better is when we'll be able to answer my question you know if I can sit down with all my tax programs and everything I can give you a really good thorough analysis and show you exactly what the benefits and detriments would be if we do this all right our program from all right Barbara take care good question very good question but it you know again I I have nobody on line right now so I've come into the final quarter of the show if you want to call in and direct the conversation for one zero nine two two six six eighty next week I'm going to have gas we're gonna talk about PPP loans and you know all this a corona virus relief for business owners especially and it's it's an important topic and so you know next week we're not going to be on an open shows if you have a burning question better asked now this is gonna be the day to do it and before I finish tonight for one zero nine two two six six eighty if you want to call and anyway we have about a minute or so before our break and I just want to reiterate what I said to Barbara everybody everybody should be thinking Roth conversion Roth conversion Russ conversion but you need to do it wisely you need to think about what is the income tax consequences if I do this much if I do this much if I do this much you know where do I think you know you gotta watch out for that Medicare limit you know man we all know what the Medicare limit is so Medicare part B. triggers a much higher premium when you go over a hundred seventy four thousand dollars you gotta be careful of that and I'm not saying it's the end all of the analysis but one dollar over a hundred and seventy thousand and you're going to pay a year I think it's something her husband wife is going to be about nineteen hundred dollars a year more because you went one dollar over a hundred seventy thousand that's a hundred and ninety thousand percent tax rate if I if I calculated that happen correctly and this in the in a short period of time you know I mean this is the way you have to think about Roth conversions is what happens if I do this what happens if I do this much what happens if I do that much you know and so forth so just don't rush off and just do it because you know somebody's telling you that this is a great time low tax rates and so forth do the analysis and do it properly make sure you're working with tax people and not just people who call themselves financial advisers and not to sell products and so forth anyway I got to take a pause for traffic I'm gonna come right back to Robert after this but if you want to call in I still have the opportunity for at least one or two more callers four one zero nine two two six six eighty four one zero nine two two six six eighty take get away traffic this W. "At the end of a defensive drills on Tuesday an MRI found a grade one strain here's what Aaron Boone said probably put us back a little bit I would say it's time for him to get back to me before the start of the season but then getting built up and stuff we'll see second straight day that the Yankees are to deal with these issues we separate of course is gonna miss the entire season as he has they have Tommy John surgery and Mike it's it's it's tough Giancarlo Stanton was a big trade and obviously a big money guy when they got him over from the Marlins but now we're looking at this situation where Stan's gonna be injured again and how much of a concern is this recurring injury thing because we had so many Yankees injured last year going are presented by president George drivers to switch and save paying an average of seven or ninety six dollars less per year let's just be honest a signing up for our twenty five million dollars and work out the way they want right actual set it just it just hasn't and the downside of this injury and I always talk about doesn't matter the sport here when it's pre season one is right for your season and you get a strain this place a calf acquired a hammy the the bad part obviously is it's a it's a strain that can reoccur the other side is it's a lower body yes all of it did not provide a lot of times you keep going Cardi allies keep moving in this case you can now you got to be offered you got arrested so then there's the rebuilding process once it's healed to get back up as much as what was said into playing shape they're booted into get into that plane should be able to move around some and then as I've always said there is that possibility of something like that did you tweak it again and it becomes a lingering thing now you have the time to keep them out as long as you need but that still doesn't mean it can't come back on your cell this is tough I mean between that the pitching and we know that's what they lacked last year they took care of a lot of that we get a cold this year but you know having Severino be out the entire year this couple months with the backstage body could going to junior girl her mind is at sixty three more games on his office budget I suspension going on that started last year so there are you know the obvious you can make a trade for pitchers well which I'm sure they probably would but this is a for a for a team that basically it's like Yankees and Dodgers walking into the World Series or I'd gone out with them and and they had injuries last year the Yankees didn't they still won the game they want to so they obviously can't do it again but you know all the stuff certainly don't help now stand by the way played in just eighteen games last season due to the number of injuries yet to eighty eight three homers hit thirty eight homers his first year with the Yankees and that was the year after hit fifty nine and twenty seven right go ahead yeah no visit but it you know I I have no idea how the Yankees staff is preparing these people but it seems like last year there were core entrance at our core injuries after court where you get those things the hammers and things like that of course you do you go to the trainer said okay what what gives what's going on here yeah so we'll see but but we'll see but a guy like him we got a separate register the extension and and barely Bridgeport twenty innings last twenty innings or you got two guys obviously make a lot of money in a couple of guys that that unfortunately are giving you a lot of production out there can I just say how proud I am of you right now is your microphone broke as you're trying to have a bite to eat and I I'm fairly ask your question without looking over to see if you would just put something in your mouth which you had yeah and then you rushed over to do it and you you just move them I didn't break it not going to sell off this Mike is that a problem for a while and it's supposedly been fixed seventeen times yeah and yet here we are and your hold it like a champ I'm holding the might just let you know that we have another hour in the show I'm really hoping I don't have to hold this Mike the whole next because otherwise it might be might drop that's.

"I asked Aaron Boone if you missed it does this have something to do with Miguel do heart. Well, yes. And no, yes. Of course, it does. Because you need more him. Even if an do our has not made a decision that we know of yet. Whether he was going to have surgery on that shoulder or not. But whatever it is. He's going to be down for a while and that D H spot and particularly from the left side. There's just. No hitting their so Kendra Morales who. I I'm not sure what they they saw his stats weren't all that great in Oakland. But from what I'm gathering, the Yankees saw X exit veal that was really good. And they saw a few things that they think they just didn't look at the stats and say, this guy is finished. They looked at tapes, and they looked at things, and they said, you know, everybody's thinks they can fix somebody or anybody thinks they can help somebody, and hopefully they can so Morales will be that the D H E can play a little first base if they need him too. But whatever it is. And do our has not decided what he's going to do. But whatever even if he doesn't it's there's no. Guaranteed that that he's going to be back anytime soon. So Henderson morale should be here. By the second game. We'll be back with the start of this afternoon's came after this. This is the WFAN New York. Yankees radio network. I wear. My father's Patrick Philippe wristwatch every day. And every day. I'm reminded of him. I used to watch the way he dressed. He would shave talk trying to answer. He put his wallet into one pocket and his keys into the other. And finally, it was always finally for some reason he put on his watch his pack Philippe wristwatch and every day. "You know, and I'm just will will bothers me the most about STAN was that he came up a couple times against the Red Sox in the first couple of games with basis loaded. He did nothing. He was trying to hit the long ball or or sack flies. The Yankees were great. Sack flies. Don't get me wrong. And they were great at home runs. But they could not hit for the life of me with guys on base there. One of the worst teams reversion scoring position. And unless they changed that it's not gonna be a potential World Series contender not at all not your point about Aaron Boone. I think is going to be there as long as Cashman's there because Cashman could have signed Girardi. He didn't he let him go and Boone was his pick. That was his guy. So if Boone goes, I think Cashman will take a lot of heat for I'm not saying he's gonna get fired by any means. But Kashmir will take a lot of heat if the Boone manager spot does not work, and I want to I was against the Boone signing from the gecko. I wanted somebody of the giants bench coach whose name of bam. Bam. I wanted him from the giants. They didn't get him. So it was like, you know, what let's see if it works. Let's give it a couple of years now last year. He don't lot of adversity between injuries. And losing Josh. Judge in he handled it well. But the biggest reason why boom was brought there was because he's good with players. He's good at kissing there. But in being cuddling now Sanchez, you could say he was caught on you could say was he handled better with Boone it's hard to say, I'm not in the locker room not in the clubhouse. I don't know how he handled Sanchez during his tough times with the past balls in such. But that being said his success as a manager will depend on the development of the young guys mainly Torres. Andrew hearth. They keep him in. Specifically Sanchez focus who is your top five favourite prospects in the system as right now, obviously, we have the top thirty list, and we all have different opinions on where people should be. But if in the system currently right now who would you rank as your top five favorites? Like guys that you're interested in seeing in watching this year. We'll one of them's gotta be Floreal because of the amount of potential that he has. I mean, he's a five to a player who can do everything hit. Power speed defense arm. Currently right now is hit tools. Forty five is powers. Fifty five is run is seventy.
