"Better. Aaron judging the Yanks lost to the race to one in Game five of the LDS judges. Homer was one of only three Yankee hits for the second year in a row. Aroldis Chapman allowed the season to finding home run. It was an eighth inning blast off the bat of Mike Brosseau. Who was buzzed by Chapman in September, thinking about that at all that happened Ah, about a month ago. You know, this is the way it worked out Chapman through translator, Marlon Bra you, Brosseau insisted no revenge wasn't mine. However, the Rays did celebrate to the tune of New York, New York, as Aaron Boone's Yankees were processing the law is going to get there. He spent his entire 16 year career with the Yankees, A six time World Series champ 10 time All Star. Whitey was 91 years old. There is a trip to the CS on the line tonight and no better gotta have on the mound for the Yankees and Aaron Boone, then Garrett Cole. I'm excited to see him go pitch. There's no question, so I know he's excited to get the ball with the opportunity to To help us move on to be able to hand the ball. By the best pitcher in the game. There's some comfort in that. New York Yankees to host Miami Marlins in the Bronx
"Though the Yankees aren't going to be playing their wild card, Siri's in the Bronx, they would like to go into the postseason playing much better than they are right now. Just haven't played clean enough baseball and obviously we're gonna have to do that if we're going to reach our goal. Aaron Boone's Yankees, losers of five out of six after the Marlins top them for three on Friday, and extras they hit into five double plays, committed four errors. Aaron Judge called it a mental mistake. I'd rather get him out of the way now. "Games at the stadium this season, Yankees lost to the Marlins, 43 and 10 guaranteeing that their wild card Siri's is going to start on the road. New York Mets' DeGrom and Yankees' LeMahieu Both Placed on Injured List
"Jacob. degrom the mets we all know Jacob degrom, but he was crash from his start on Friday. With a against the phillies with some next stiffness, he'll start his planning on starting against the marlins Miami and you know. I'm surprised actually pitching to be completely honest because. The season is pretty much I. Mean I guess that he would be. He would basically just be doing it so he could get paid at this point, but I mean he would get his prorated salary regardless if he was playing or not at the mets are nine and fourteen therefore games out of the. Four Games out of the East lead they've already lost one two of their best players with marcus, stroman and Noah syndergaard. Know. Why he would even play. It doesn't look like the mets are really going to be doing anything in the division. So. I mean. A. Whole I'll just come back through another game and then and then pretty much just opt out of the season if I were him but. You know he's he's out there playing and he's doing a great job this season and you know you gotta come you got you give him his props for endlessly fighting for the New York mets even then they haven't. You know they've been trying to hold onto whatever relevancy they've had since the I think it was Twenty Sixteen World Series, Twenty Fifteen, twenty, six world series when they lost to the Kansas city royals but alongside him another one in another player from the Bronx went down this weekend. Dj Lemay Hugh. Aaron Boone said the digital mayhew is going to be out for about two to three weeks. He was placed on the ten day de L. With thumbs strain. Suffered it just on a swing in the fourth innings. Nathan you've all the which is not. Not a good sign for the New York Yankees but I mean they're they brought up Miguel and do hard their defense is going to go down but their offense will stay. Will stay you know. Fairly even Keel for the most part I would say they would go down a little bit because Dj here's a four hundred hater and Miguel Angel Harz in anything like that. But I think M Miguel and do Haro. You'll love the at a little bit more power to the lineup. And? They'll lose a little bit of the base but I mean they're they're crews in right now. So I mean it's not going to hurt the Yankees a little too much.
Aaron Judge ailing, uncertain for start of Red Sox series
"Aaron. Judge is an issue right now for the Yankees. But then winning games is not another victory last night clint frazier steps in and he is great and we'll wait to hear what's going on with Aaron judge who has lower body tightness he wanted to play. Of course, he got pulled out of the game the night before and Aaron Boone said, well, we had some leverage in the game and we felt like he just needed to come out and that was that now we find out is that a lineup tonight? that. It's lower body tightness and it's not just lower body tightness. It's his hip it's calf. It's is everything hamstring. What else did he say he said three different body parts so who the hell knows? Not Good but you just hope that that doesn't turn into something bigger. But if you're a Yankee Fan, how could you think that it's not I? mean he used to be that every met injury turned into a four month affair and they're still some of those that are going on it's now every Yankee injury turns into something horrible and something that is lingering and you don't see these guys and Judge Stan were the prime examples last year I mean everybody that went down and do our in Hicks. It was just one after another after another. But. Who knows? Maybe it's just a little minor scare and Aaron judge gets back out there but it is borderline remarkable. What has gone on with judge?
Philadelphia Phillies beat New York Yankees 11-7 at home to open twin bill
"The Yankees allowing eleven runs illusion, the opener, the double header with the phillies yesterday, and then they ran into Aaron Nola. In the NIGHTCAP, he gave them all sorts of trouble, but eventually, they got into the Philadelphia both another three to pitch to talk. Line. In the right field, that survey? That's GonNa find the gap. Stanton will score. Harper gets back in talk man stops at second. So a rig double for Mike Talk in the Yankees take a two one lead, ricky. Ricardo. seventh-inning call here on the fan I will say one of the things I like about the no fans is getting to hear the dugout. Big Hits. It sounds like you're at a high school game in central New Jersey on a Wednesday afternoon. He's guys are getting all pumped up there on the bench on the balls, put in play, and you can hear some of that on the broadcast or shallow with an RBI single. He was two for three and the bullpen closed out a three one victories. They split the twin bull, the twin bill rather at Citizens Bank I. Seven inning experience for Aaron. Boone Company? What did he think about? About the first one was too short, and then this one was just right. Make sense considering they dropped the opener before the seventh inning rally Nola struck out twelve over six innings. But the Yankee pitchers kept them in the game as well. Jonathan Isaac. Nelson 3 hitless innings wins debut, Yanks' win 5th in row
"Can keep rolling right along after last night's five to win over the visiting Red Sox gave them five W's in a row and ran their record to a baseball best six and one on the season. James Paxton takes the mound for the Sunday night series finale. Less than 24 hours after manager Aaron Boone rookie Nick Nelson come out of the bullpen to work three hitless innings and pick up a win in his major league debut is I've talked about really since spring and on through summer camp, you know one of the things I'm so excited about his AA lot of the young arms that are knocking on the door, and now Nelson's one of those, you know, and he was. He was great tonight and relief of Masahiro Tanaka was making his season debut coming back from that concussion. Now, If you're planning ahead, the Yanks have had yet another change in their schedule. They'll host the Phillies tomorrow and Tuesday, then play in Philadelphia Wednesday and Thursday before a four game series down a Tampa Bay, which includes a Saturday double header. As for the
New York Yankees to face off against Boston Red Sox without fans
"To Yankees. They're going to go for five wins in a row tonight when they play the Red Sox at the stadium. They beat Boston on Friday 5 to 1 in a most unusual home opener, No fans for the first home game and first game against Boston. It was definitely a little bit different. Aaron Boone watched Erin judge hit a home run for the third game in a row Tonight. Boom gives the ball no Masahiro Tanaka for his 2020 debut. And he does so with much uncertainty in this sport because of the Corona virus, Tanaka said Cases were expected. It is a concern that this is happening. It's kind of a reminder that we really need to be responsible and the action and the behaviour that we take Tanaka through interpreter Shingo

It's a sixty game season today's day one and manager Aaron Boone, certainly one looking forward to it opening days been a Artemije life my entire life, it's all I know. It's one of the holidays of the year for me and my family, and it's privilege to be a part of a major league opening day. That'll be the case again tomorrow night in as unique. Circumstances I've ever experienced probably, and that is now tonight. Unique no fans in the stands dealing with a pandemic months and months ago. The Yankees got themselves Garrett Cole tonight. They see him for real for the first time in Boone fired up for. We're looking forward to him being able to go out and hopefully go start impacting our team on the field. Field in a huge way starting tomorrow and I'm just excited for him. Because obviously it's been a long time coming for him to this day and I'm excited for him to to really begin his career now with the Yankees very excited for him in numerous ways, here is Ham excited, even though they are dealing with weird circumstances, it still opening day. Yes, in a long time coming out of clearly Garrett Cole isn't exciting. Talent he's been focused has really even relentless in terms of his preparation. Even you know when spring training stopped. He never has stopped. He's been. Preparing for this day for quite some
Dr. Anthony Fauci to throw first pitch at MLB's Opening Day game
"Washington, D C has become a diehard Nationals fan and he will be there. Let's see. Maybe he'll brood for a tie on Thursday night. Yankees the Nationals open the season at Nats Park, and Dr Fauci is going to throw out the first pitch the first game of baseball shortened season. The Yankees will spend the next two days finalizing the 30 man roster We might have seen. But I saw a sneak peek of the opening day lineup last night and that tie against the Phillies with D. J. Lo Mayhew leading off, followed by Aaron Judge Glaber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton. Here's Aaron Boone. Yeah. I mean, there's a good chance that that's what you could see Absolutely. You know, we'll see. Obviously, we'll see if D J is ready. But there's a good chance that that's what it could look like opening day and will make you a late arrival to summer camp because of Copan, 19. He's going to get more live at bats today. He wants to be in the lineup opening day, we'll see if that ends up being the case. Metz and Braves Open up

New York Yankees, Mets Return To The Ballpark As 2020 MLB Season Preparation Begins
"And despite hand Stander Tizer in the outfield and zoom meetings before practice, you met manager Louis Ross felt everything was pretty smooth. Wants me in the field. It was almost like can I mean we're out there? We're maintaining our distance is on. But you know once when they started when, during ball around and BP that we saw there She's excited to see the ball coming up, you know, felt a very normal you off for the Yankees players back on the field. It leads to the first question about players help. Of course, First up is Aaron Judge. This was Aaron Boone with Joe in heaven Right here on the fan. The rest was critical to Faras, allowing that that bone to heal and, um so I would say for him, it's been a really productive couple of months of of getting to the point now where he's really ready to ramp it up, while the total test for covert 19 and baseball was 3185 people There were 38 positive test. 31 of those players, seven were staff members knew on that surprise. "There's so many so many memories or moments in your life right that you can. You can recall and picture and almost like you remember exactly that moment. But that's one of those moments. That's very very fuzzy for me. Very great you know I I. I've seen the clip. Obviously so many times. I've watched it so many times. I I like watching other people's reactions but it's one of those memories like I can talk through my run around the bases and what I was thinking and everything but the memory the photographic memory part of it for me is very very hazy. Wow and so do you remember Remember talking to Scott Brosius about his reaction When when he hit a home run in the ninety eight world series and he didn't know what he did until after he saw a replay of it and he was mortified like like watchers. 'cause you you know you put your hand in the air and then. I found interesting that you're going from second and third year. You're pulling off your batting loves now. So so what happened? There is which is another interesting thing that happened in that so I wore in two thousand and one I broke. I got hit with three pitches on the hands so I broke my wrist Miami and my thumb in three different instances during two thousand one. They cost me some of that season. So they made for me. This lightweight had that would velcro onto my batting glove that I wore from from the start of two thousand and two for the rest of my career so here we are in two thousand three and that Velcro never came off in my career. Except on that swing. So what I'm doing is re reattaching the Velcro to my batting glove as I'm running around the bases which which never happened before then and never happened after while you and Rivera the the replay shows you and Rivera shared a big hug. What do you see? What did you say to you remember? I don't know I don't. I don't remember much of anything that happened to me. I don't remember going into the clubhouse. It's honestly so hazy for me all the all the memories and things. I would think I would absolutely remember that. I don't one of my biggest memories of that night is at some point later in the evening sitting in my locker looking over at Mike Mussina. In as you know my is who. I love playing with great teammate. Dry Smart funny cutting serious all of it to see him the joy that was exuding him as he was sitting over with a with another with another With got a staff member just sitting there enjoying the moment was was one of the biggest memories I take from that night. And it's really cool Last one for you. Do you think that your manager the Yankees. If you don't have that moment and I know it's a difficult question to ask because it's such a path to becoming manager of the Yankees but in your heart what do you think. Yeah Man Maybe not maybe not. Maybe it's all in some small way baked into the cake that got me to the point of being manager the Yankees so maybe in some small way. It's part of it all so I'll say no interesting. All right Buni I appreciate you taking the time and they keep in touch with these stay safe all right. Thank thanks buster take care. We mentioned opening day moments. How about this one for mark? Burleigh opening day. Two thousand ten the broadcasters. You're going to hear hawk. Harrelson and Steve Stone is mark. Burleigh makes one of the greatest plays of all time.

"Hey man you have no idea what you're walking into and I thought sure I do I. I know what I know the game. I know what's going on and my first trip to to Boston in August and he was right. I had no idea what I was walking. Just just the awesomeness the intensity of that rivalry. You know. I'll tell you a story my wife and I. My wife came on that trip. And we're checking into a Ritz Carlton with the team in Boston. Obviously a very nice hotel And had a key went up to to check. Open my door into my room at the hotel. My wife and I are the keys not working so I called down to the front desk. They come up. This guy comes up to the to my room. And he's got. He's working on the lock. And I jokingly say to my wife must be red sox fan and and Ritz Carlton. They're they're they're they're very great. Great at service vary treat their guests. Great he looks up at me with this glare. I'll never forget I was like yeah. That's right I was like Whoa okay. And what's funny about that story? Is this year. We're the hotel. We now stay out as a different hotel in Boston. And I noticed in the lobby working at the hotel. We're staying at this past season. That famous guy that worked on my door. I'll never forget his fate. You're sitting and so i. I'm not kidding. So I went up to him. I Mike did you used to work at the Ritz Carlton like back in the early. Two thousand six said yes and I said I will never forget. Because now he's graduated to higher up with this Hotel we stay at and I'm like I will never forget your face but do you remember you came up and let me in and I told him that story and he just kind of laughed and he said Yeah. I'm a pretty big fan but it was. It was awesome because I was with a couple of guys with a couple of my coaches. I Say I'll never forget that guy's face and I tell them the story so anyway so he might myself a nice guy that let us in Have a pretty good laugh about that now. A couple times I went back to that hotel This past season so you can. Based on that experience you probably can believe. Those old stories Lakers used to tell about the air conditioning being Suddenly broken when they're in the boss Nygaard and things like that. Yeah I tend to. I tend to understand that exactly all right. Let's fast forward to the American League Championship series. You guys are up three to two in this series three games to two seventh inning of game. Six you lose a six to four lead. Boston wins a game to even the series and then we go to game seven. And what I you know just going back and look at the at the record and different things that happen. In those years you played every day in two thousand and two you played one hundred sixty two games in two thousand and three. You played in one hundred sixty games and during that series You were taken out of a lineup. I think it was for gained three and Ricky Wilson Steps in. How are you feeling at the plate in early series? All right so you know I I. I was for better for worse in my career rather streaky when I was good I was pretty darn when I was struggling I could. I could struggle with the best of them so I swung about pretty well in the previous series and then I was just kind of not right not swinging well in in the Boston series and Enrico. Wilson had great numbers in his career against Pedro Martinez. So couple that with the fact that I was struggling joe started in Rica in both games that Pedro started so I was on the bench and obviously in game seven. You know it was. It was honestly. It was very difficult. It was a tough time because I was scuffling. I was brought in to you know. Be a part of this thing and and here. I find myself in game seven. You know even though Enrica had these numbers have been you know playing my game. You know I would've been in there so I was frustrated that I wasn't performing like I knew I was capable of wasn't swinging back great but but also you know you kind of temper that with hey this is game. Seven certainly isn't about me. This is about trying to get to the world series. You know right now so you try. You GotTa get over that you know just as a professional as soon as possible and this is about us so I was able to do that. You know fairly easy. You know dealing with the frustration of a struggling and all but so just trying to as best. I can to be prepared and to be ready. You know for any kind of situation at that point by career you know. I had never really come off the bench so as a different kind of role date but as best I could try and do you know as the game unfolded prepare myself for for some kind of a role or an opportunity. All right so I you when you saw your name was a lineup Kind were you upset where you matter. He just Kinda like well. That's that's the way it is. Yes I think I was probably all of those honestly buster I was. I was probably I know. Probably a little mad a little frustrated a little. You Know I. It's my fault. I'm not giving them a reason to take me out of the lineup But but again you gotta you gotTa Kinda get over that and and feel like I was. I was for the most part able to all right so David. Ortiz homers in their league goes to five to to What do you remember about the feeling in the dugout? At that? Point where you guys down only six hours away from the red sox winning the series with Yhombi hitting the two solo homers and then lose coming in and get out of a huge jam. Those were to see those were a couple of kind of performances in that game that really. Kinda campus in it and kept us with some hope and I remember I remember. Then the there were teas- home off a David Wells and how how Mad David was because David David was feeling the same thing you know. He's like hey we're back in this. I need to come in and hold it down and give us a chance and so he was pretty frustrated that Ortiz got him but but no it was still all right. We're in this. You know. This game have easily got away early in the reality is. We're up against it but but you know the five to deficit. Stranger things have certainly happened and And then and then rally begin. Were you surprised at Pedro came out for the eighth inning? And then after grady little went to the mound during that eighth-inning that he still stayed in the game yeah. I don't remember being surprised that he came out for the inning. But I do remember being a little surprised that he stayed in. 'cause I feel like there was that sense on our bench. Us GET TIRED and we're starting to get to them a little bit and So so I think we're a little surprised that he stayed in But also remember. That was the year You know I remember. It was a big deal. Where the red sox didn't bring a closer. They didn't have a true closer. They kind of just we'll guide. Yeah and they were So they didn't really have that you know the absolute guy that we hand the ball to in this situation. They had a lot of guys like embryo. Tim One that were really good. That we're more situational so I guess we're a little surprised because we felt like he was getting tired. But but I wouldn't say we were shocked by it because you know at the end. It's Pedro Martinez. Jorges facade Dumps in the game tying head. What do you remember about what you're feeling and seeing that moment? Whoa I remembered the roof. You know I guess the roof was already off that place but the roof fell like it came off that place like and I can just see Whore hey out there at second with that just that raw emotion of you know clutching his fists and pumping waving like. Oh my God and I just you know I can see her decky you know leaping as he comes across the plate and kind of an awkward weird way like like no way. We've come back and tied this thing but here we are and and then And then it was time promoted. Come on and do this thing. Yeah and what did you see him nine Tenth Eleventh Innings? I mean that red sox offense was so good and he came in and I just felt like was in complete control and I and I know in hindsight. They said he was done after that third inning of work and I don't believe that had we gone onto it to a twelfth thinning. I'm quite certain that Mariana would have been back out there. But I I just remember just Kinda really pretty easily going through those three innings against that great lineup and and actually those big for me because it got me a chance to get into the game. I pinch ran. For Ruben Sierra thinking around the don't even know what it was. You probably don't eighth or ninth or whatever ending up so it got me into the game which which I was you know which I was glad for is again having been an everyday player. You know this is a different role. Sorry remember going out and pinch running and it was such a weird feeling but but it was good that I'm all of a sudden in the gate and I got to play a few weddings on defense and I made a play and so I was in the flow of the game in a lot of ways by the time my at that came up so tim. Wakefield's in the game for the Red Sox Some hitters that. I've covered Darrell. Strawberry most notably loved to face knuckleball pitchers. What about you know? I didn't it was different and I hadn't you know had faced him a lot down the stretch in in in that postseason so Iraq up a lot of bats. The last couple of months of the season against them having not faced a lot of knuckleballer in my life I mean and and wake was in a really good group. I mean he was he was maybe on his way to win probably in the conversation when the MVP of that series and he came on he had good any and then so I had very little success against somebody always felt like maybe I could have success against them because sometimes you see the ball company and so well and then you just find yourself swinging through it so I remember running off the field at the end of the top of the eleven the end of most third inning and lead. I knew I was leading off the inning a new face in Wakefield no. I'm struggling at the plate but kind of had this honestly this good feeling that I was going to do something and you know something like love down. I walked down and grabbed my bat to go out on deck and Joe Torry Grozny's like hey stay through the middle doesn't mean you won't go deep. Just stay through the middle of the field meaning. Think back through the middle so. I'm like all right as I'm on deck. I'm thinking all right. I'm GonNa take a pitch. Just WanNa see a pitch and then we'll go from there leading off the inning and as I'm walking home plate I changed my mind and I I just. I'm just like you know you've been thinking too much right now. Just just get a good pitch to hit whatever one that is. I pitched seven pitch third pitch. Get a good pitch to hit. And that became my focus and First pitch a good pitch to hit and finally I finally squared gone up against them. I asked David freeze. Can you still see the pitch and your minds iron? No really no it. Yeah I mean I wish you know..

"The dodgers <Speech_Male> in Major League Baseball. <Speech_Male> And so. Let's talk <Speech_Male> about that as we bring <Speech_Male> in. Aaron Boone <Speech_Male> the manager of the Yankees <Speech_Male> Buni. It's really <Speech_Male> terrific to see you <Speech_Male> here and I just <Speech_Male> put together sort of what <Speech_Male> you were looking at a very <Speech_Male> high expectations <Speech_Male> and you have a lot <Speech_Male> of injuries. Where <Speech_Male> does that <SpeakerChange> leave the manager <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> with high expectations? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Nothing ever changes <Speech_Male> for us. <Speech_Male> I feel <Speech_Male> like we're a team capable <Speech_Male> of <Speech_Male> handling any <Speech_Male> adversity thrown <Speech_Male> our way. We've been dealt <Speech_Male> our share <Speech_Male> here early on <Speech_Male> obviously Sevi- <Speech_Male> going down <Speech_Male> and knowing we're GONNA lose <Speech_Male> him for the season <Speech_Male> You <Speech_Music_Male> know Kinda <Speech_Male> hurting for him <Speech_Male> and what that means <Speech_Male> for him but <Speech_Male> we also feel like <Speech_Male> we're very equipped <Speech_Male> to handle <Speech_Male> it and move on and still <Speech_Male> go out and do our thing <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> As far as some of the other <Speech_Male> guys you mentioned <Speech_Male> I still <Speech_Male> believe they're going to be <Speech_Male> on <Speech_Male> the shorter sides of things <Speech_Male> I just <Speech_Male> just spoke <Speech_Male> with Aaron judge <Speech_Male> before I walked <Speech_Male> out here. He's doing <Speech_Male> so much better. <Speech_Male> We feel like he's in <Speech_Male> a pretty good spot <Speech_Male> here. Moving forward <Speech_Male> Giancarlo. <Speech_Male> You know. It's unfortunate <Speech_Male> with the cap strange <Speech_Male> at <Speech_Male> calf strain. But <Speech_Male> you know at <Speech_Male> the end of things it's <Speech_Male> it's it's a great <Speech_Male> one calf strain <Speech_Male> so we're <Speech_Male> GONNA make sure that's completely <Speech_Male> healed but <Speech_Male> we also don't necessarily <Speech_Male> think that's a <Speech_Male> long term situation <Speech_Male> and we <Speech_Male> do feel like James Paxton <Speech_Male> is is moving <Speech_Male> according to plan <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> You know probably scheduled <Speech_Male> to start throwing <Speech_Male> here in the next week or <Speech_Male> so so <Speech_Male> We we do <Speech_Male> feel good about <SpeakerChange> the prognosis <Speech_Male> of a lot of our guys. <Speech_Male> All right so <Speech_Male> all of those are good. And then <Speech_Male> you have to take great comfort <Speech_Male> in the fact that you can hand <Speech_Male> the baseball now <Speech_Male> two Garrett Cole <Speech_Male> on opening day <Speech_Male> and see what he can do a <Speech_Male> lot of people believe he is the <Speech_Male> best pitcher in <Speech_Male> baseball. What are <Speech_Music_Male> your expectations for <Speech_Music_Male> him? <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> That he'll continue <Speech_Male> to go out and be <Speech_Male> the best or certainly <Speech_Male> one of the best pitchers <Speech_Music_Male> in the game. <Speech_Music_Male> You know <Speech_Music_Male> we obviously made a <Speech_Music_Male> huge commitment to Garrett <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> based on <Speech_Music_Male> him being <Speech_Music_Male> one of the Great <Speech_Music_Male> Aces in our sport <Speech_Male> in the prime of his <Speech_Male> career. But <Speech_Music_Male> we also made that <Speech_Music_Male> commitment. Because we <Speech_Music_Male> feel like we're getting a special <Speech_Male> person <Speech_Male> and and a guy that's <Speech_Male> going to impact our <Speech_Male> our room our clubhouse <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> That has all the intangible <Speech_Male> things that <Speech_Male> you want in a player <Speech_Male> that are hopefully <Speech_Male> going to lend itself <Speech_Male> to him having longevity <Speech_Male> to <Speech_Male> him positively <Speech_Male> affect in our culture <Speech_Male> <hes> <Speech_Male> to him hopefully <Speech_Male> having a positive <Speech_Male> influence on the rest <Speech_Male> of our staff <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> he's been everything <Speech_Male> as advertised <Speech_Male> here in the early days <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> of camping <Speech_Male> in in just <Speech_Male> a and <SpeakerChange> he's throwing <Speech_Male> the ball incredibly well <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> then a final thought. <Speech_Male> I know that you have answered questions <Speech_Male> about this. Before <Speech_Male> for those in our audience who've <Speech_Male> not yet heard from you what <Speech_Male> sorts of conversations <Speech_Male> after your <Speech_Male> team was one of those <Speech_Male> loss to the Astros in the <Speech_Male> postseason and all the <Speech_Male> controversy that <Speech_Male> has surrounded that during <Speech_Male> this spring training. What conversations <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> have <Speech_Male> you and your players had about <Speech_Male> that. <Speech_Male> Yeah <Speech_Male> I mean we've had a lot <Speech_Male> of them <Speech_Male> You know some <Speech_Male> from real raw <Speech_Male> one on one <Speech_Music_Male> conversations <Speech_Music_Male>

Now Okay he's GonNa play pick up with the nets trainers and staff. I rather him play with the best players in the world if purchase attempts out. If I'm going to try to block your shot I'm GonNa give you this land can injure yourself Magog. Doesn't know what the hell he's doing. I'm going to try to do everything that is not right because he was. He was yelling like he was speaking the Gospel. Some like everything come out his mouth now. The Gospel Cared Kevin. Durant needs basketball. Like I need food I got ahead. And that's what he is. He is going crazy right now and I love let their man plan Olympics into Steven. Naismith poet like four as with the money side of it. When you're a real hooper. You love the game of basketball. The money don't even matter when you got love for the game of basketball you just WanNa hoop and like you said Jay will he's GonNa hoop regardless you all catch him at a wellness center. You catch them. At a rate lead you'll catch him at the port. Katie is going to play basketball regardless. This is the first time that I agree with rich or anything. You guys I mean. You GotTa think rich and K. D. and all of his guys in his camp. We're GONNA make sure that he has the very best lower the out and you notice you try. You will the only way to get ready to play. Basketball is to play basketball. That's the only way the comb drills the one on one drills is out the window to play basketball under the careful watchful eye of the train medical professionals on the team with which you signed a contract that made a ruling decision to pay you all and I love. Kevin Durant made a ruling decision to pay you all this money. Knowing that there was going to be one season in which you did not play at all. I don't care what anybody says going to. The Olympics is definitively putting yourself in harm's way more so than the other ways that you can be going about this. I'm not suggesting. Should we playing pick up with the managers of anything but there should be very careful process involved here and over the way we should have another conversation. Another day about when the time comes to Stephen as other larger point when the time comes that we stopped sending NBA players to the Olympics. That we have made our point. The point has been made. We needed to make the point. That America is where the best basketball is played. We made that point after we lost in eighty eight and finished with the bronze John. Tom's team all the rest of that. We've made that point. We approved everything there needs to be proved you don't. It'd be sending guys in their thirties to go play in the Olympics during the summer. That's fine for you. But how about for the next kid? Like how about a kid like Imani beats like he's in high school and now he's a sophomore. You don't want him to represent as I say teams. That are twenty thousand. Usa Basketball is working in alignment with the nets on what the training staff to make. Sure that Kevin if he bought away. Nobody said that he's definitely going say. Option is opened. Who GOT IT? Who is coaching the USA team? This you pop pop. Who's assistant coach? K? Right No I don't I don't know that he's involved in that regard listening and let me tell you so. I had a incident when I was in two thousand eight. I got an invite to go trial for the Olympics. I turned it down. Worst mistake of my life my basketball career. You don't never take situations like this for granted in the chance to go play. In the Olympics people die to get this opportunity so you never take for granted and I don't want kids to think that this is not some major because it is when you have a chance to go and represent and play basketball and his highest level and represent for your country. You never take this opportunity for granted. Finally down the only person I could tell Kevin durant not to play his JOE CY. And he's the owner of the nets and that was still potentially be an issue. We will see. Meanwhile we'll have more on that.

"Could be the major league baseball postseason is in full swing and one of those series that we're keeping a close eye on is the Yankees and twins right and the twins historic playoff struggles have just continued. I mean they've lost today is about a guy who is being very closely watched in this series and a guy who's been under the microscope in New York for two years now the Yankees manager Aaron Boone Right I mean let's remember that when Aaron Boone was hired before last season it was kind of surprising the New York Yankees have decided on new leader precip Aaron Boone is the next team manager would hire somebody why he's never been a major deserve it in the dugout coach and suddenly he was now taking charge of the most iconic team in baseball right and yet so far has done pretty well and so on offers us spoke with the athletics rest dodd fout Boone's unlikely path to becoming the Yankees manager and some of the things that make him such a colorful character everything from player impressions to spending time in the boot yeah and we talked about how in Boone second season he's turned his doubters into believers it just as a quick heads up for listeners this episode includes a couple of curse words from wondering and the athletic I'm under skelter and I'm can beat the Davidson it's.

"And I was like. How 'bout? About boone. How about are? You used to work with Aaron Boone at ESPN. You guys are tight guys each other's number. That's yeah. So why don't you just sit there and Buna text message series at Dallas pulls out his phone starts typing. Mid text from his phone lo and behold who's standing right there. The steakhouse Darren boot. Boot any staring, right. At me. The Dow's gets up walks over to Aaron Boone they're talking. I'm sitting at the table by myself. Now, some this is awkward I feel like I should get up and go over there. And at least introduce myself. I fuck I am like whatever I'll just high. So I walk over there. You know, there's a break in the conversation between Aaron Boone Dallas braiding and like the bone Jag Kravis. Nice to meet you stick out my hands, shake his hand. He's like. I know who you are. It was a playful, but fuck you away, then to be honest with the ARIS spec that are specked out a lot respect the fact that. Does if we did interview him when we interview him again for a second time because I did the same thing with at noon, IOUs, if I've ever tweeted something bad about you. I'm not gonna hide from that. I literally read at Nunez. My mean tweet about him whenever he made made an error in the field. I tweeted how often do you think what are Nunez thanks to himself? What the fuck am. I doing on a baseball field. And I read that tweets him. Yeah. Whenever you make an error. Yes. But I'm countable, and I will fact. Yeah. It's big j shit. Yeah. I mean, I'm I don't even know if he's ever seen it. But I'm because the people that follow me on Twitter, and then listen to the podcast go. Yeah. Yeah. You buddy buddy with new is now 'cause you had on your podcast, you tell them about all the shit that you tweet about him. Yeah. No, I read him might sweet I read it to them. I will do that again with Aaron Boone because I want to read him might tweet that said. Something to the effect of do people realize that aren't Boone is the manager of the New York Yankees because he hit one home run fifteen years ago. I still in compared that statement to sort of Dallas braiding Dow's Brayden throws a perfect game in major league baseball. And then he gets the ESPN gig. Now is in barstool Dow's Brayden, very smart baseball mind. Very funny. Great personality. He looks like animal from the Muppets. So he's I mean, there's a lot. There's a lot there. There's a lot there to work with. But the gateway to that was the perfect game with Aaron Boone if he doesn't hit that home run in game seven of two thousand three I'll see us against the Red Sox is he's the manager of the today. I don't think so that was sort of the gateway to be like and Boone is now a guy. So then that unlocks the, hey, let's go to ESPN now that is that ES. ESPN? This is a good baseball mind. We know that now comes from a strong baseball family. Now, he's manager of the Yankees. Does he manage the Yankees ever doesn't hit that home run? I don't think he does. I would like to ask are you aware of this you so aware enough to knowledge this so fired up so angry? I'm not angry. I'm passionate. I am passionate about asking the questions that the ninety seven year old fucking ball. Beat writers are not gonna ask these guys because I think and that's the beauty of barstool. And that's that's why I wanted to get to these winter meetings getting front of these people. Hey, you know, we're not just hiding behind our keyboards..

"One of the great rivalries, all of American sports in the games. They'll play this weekend or about as important as any. They played in a long time, the Yankees and Red Sox joining us. Now, our former teammate and now the manager of the New York Yankees, Aaron Boone, and at the ballpark. Good morning boys. You're accustomed to the live shots here on ESPN. So obviously something that you're very comfortable with, but I would love for you and text him moment and help us would've live in this rivalry. You were there Erin. Obviously, during times when these games meant everything, including incredibly dramatic postseason games. So Dan, from where you sit as a manager, just have different, are these games Yankees, Red Sox versus the other games on your schedule? I'd be lying if I said they they didn't seem like a bigger deal. We had a series here in may. Kind of a back and forth series where the ballpark was electric. It felt like the postseason I'll go back to two thousand three. When I came over at the trade deadline from Cincinnati, you know, considered myself up to speed on the game fan of the game. I remember Tim neighoring, who is with the reds at that point now is is one of the vice presidents with us. He said, you have no idea what you're walking into and the first trip to Boston and August I went there. My wife was with me and he was exactly right. I had no idea from the people at the hotel just how big a deal it is how personal it is. And when the two teams are are really good and and like this season, I think it adds to it and it's a lot of fun frankly, to be a part of so gooney when I was a player going into Boston, it was an emotionally draining experience. First of all, the small clubhouse all the media, four hour games, the fans are on you the entire time. Is it the same way for union coaching. Staff. I mean, do you guys feel a little bit just exhausted at the end of these series and how do you guys stay up when you know there's so much on the line. Well, the the staying up part is really easy. I mean, it's easy to go in focused for this club. You know, there's they're so talented, the resilient. They can beat you in so many different ways. So you know, you've got to be at your absolute best if you're going to have a chance to beat them. So it's easy to stay locked in. It's easier to stay up for these games, but there's no question when you leave, and when you get finished with these series, it does. It does take a little bit out of you emotionally and and you've got a really kind of get your mind right and set in lock in because the next game obviously becomes just real important, but there's no doubt about it that going into the series, especially when the two clubs are so strong takes a little bit out of you. And these are unique circumstances. Obviously, educate me a little bit here because I've just covered this on my life and bene- fan, but you're living in at the difference between winning this division finishing second is such an enormous one in terms of your postseason positioning. At what point do you start thinking about that? At what point do you end the players start? Actually having that conversation, we need to catch these guys to stay out of that one. Gameplay in circumstance. You know what we don't have. Those conversations are focus, for example, is today right now, it's the Baltimore Orioles. We're going against Alex Cobb. We got sunny gray on the mount..

"Do you think he starts to stumble and bubble you know bumble well he well he'll be making some rookie mistakes that's it never too well but then even even veteran managers can make the wrong decisions if the execution by the players is not there or if he just know screws up with double switches when he asked to make one within early i mean there's to be a number of examples how he's handling the ball van whether he's overworking guys are under i mean there's all kinds of issues and everybody is going to be paying attention via the way there was you know listening to aaron boone and the reason i kind of a alter the voice a little bed that's my way of putting quotes around aaron boone when you are hearing about aaron judge is going to be batting number two that's not aaron boone that's brian cashman aaron boone is not really managing they new york yankees when you hear aaron boone talk you're really listening to brian cashman cashman will set the lineup most of the time i'm sure that you know there might be moments where aaron boone is allowed to make up the lineup that has been set in stone by brian cashman so you will hear all season long for bone about this and about that and about everything all shades of gray in between we're really hearing we may be listening to erin bone but we're hearing brian cashman joey is calling from the bronx joey you're on the fan of new york city what's going on joey no joey is exciting excited man i'm telling you i love disagree we don't need a quarterback because he like he got hurt i fifteen years so you're gonna be quarterbacking here's a big a quarterback he he's gonna be on the sideline thing is employees go back and starts one game okay so we need a one in back hopefully we pick him in the second round that cleaning don't pick him in the first week the second because oh and the and the and about a in an indiana every day the the break hall of famer he's your next oj simpson this guys you you you don't even call will be good weather is good because he did he do garage numbers in california he's okay web you know asia year under his belt by the time retires he'll.
