In Japan, Central Bank governor Corona left monetary policy unchanged at his last meeting as head of the BOJ, the policy rate was held at a negative ten basis points and the BOJ left the target yield for the ten year JGB at around 0%. Right now we're seeing a little bit of weakness in the Japanese yen against the dollar at one 36 45. In the U.S. financial shares tumbled in the last session, this was after the bank holding company SVB financial took dramatic steps to shore up its capital, SVB financial shares were down 60%. At the same time, the KBW bank index was down 7.7%, its biggest one day decline since June 2020. A former banker for Goldman Sachs has been sentenced in the one MDB international massive fraud scheme. We have more from Bloomberg's and Kate's. Roger Aang has been sentenced to ten years in prison after being convicted last April a conspiring to violate U.S. anti bribery laws and a launder money. The 51 year old former Goldman managing director and his one time boss were accused of conspiring with a financier to pay tens of millions of dollars to officials to win business with one Malaysia, a state controlled economic development company. The deals were arranged by Goldman, which later paid $8 billion in penalties for its role in the scam. Aang is still subject to criminal charges and Malaysia. That is Bloomberg's and Kate. The U.S. and India will sign an agreement to coordinate the plans to offer incentives to the semiconductor industry. We have more from Bloomberg's David inglis. U.S. commerce secretary Gina raimondo says the agreement focuses on information sharing and policy dialog. The two nations are working to align export controls and are launching a new trade dialog on the issue. This comes as the U.S. tries to contain China's development of the industry. For India, it's a chance to embrace opportunities to close the tech gap with China. It's offering $10 billion in incentives to win manufacturing projects from foreign chip firms. But it has only attracted some minor players so far. Meanwhile, the U.S. is leading the way, pouring $52 billion into the industry. That's where the aim of furthering chip development and production at home in the United States. I'm looking at the financial stocks that certainly was the story here in the U.S. today. A lot of concern that pockets of the banking system here in the states may be under pressure. We had a route in banking shares with the KBW bank index down today by 7.7% at the eye of the storm, SVB financial group, the company took steps to shore up its capital after what amounted to a run on the bank, SVB services startup companies, and they have been withdrawing cash at a very quick pace given the fact that they are burning through a lot of their cash levels to keep operationally in the face of kind of pockets of economic weakness here in the U.S.. We have the Dow industrial average falling about 1.7% S&P 500 today down nearly 1.9%. Consumer discretionary, healthcare and real estate stocks leading the hang seng lower by about two and a half percent right now. It's a BOJ decision day. We've got a stronger yen, one 35 88, and weakness in the knee K to the tune of about 1.2% in Seoul, the cost down about 1.2% and in Sydney, the market on the back foot with the ASX 200 down, about 1.9%. U.S. yields continuing to plummet. We've got a two year treasury now at four 77, a drop of nearly ten basis points after sliding 20 basis points in New York trading. We'll take another look at markets in 15 minutes bulk. We'll trade is it going to get key U.S. payrolls data for the month of February tomorrow. "On market action Brian courtesies in Hong Kong, Brian. What do you see? It looks like a lot of shelling coming our way. This afternoon. One, it's Friday, two, you've got the U.S. jobs report looming. And we had a big sell off in banking shares as you documented very well in the past hour, Doug. It was a couple of things. One, the collapse of silvergate capital, amid a lot of scrutiny in Washington and difficulties in the crypto space. And then the other big story, the Silicon Valley based lender SVB, taking a huge tumble down 60%. It's a complicated story and we'll be taking a closer look at the impact on the broader market because it does have some people concerned about the impact of higher interest rates, not only on the banking sector, but really on all different corners of the U.S. and global economy. If you think about it, interest rates were down close to zero for such a long time. And people worried about what's happening under the hood. So hopefully during the show today, we'll get a closer look at some of that. Right now we've got the nikkei trading down about 9 tenths of 1%. The ASX 200 down 1.4% bank stocks getting hit there and in Seoul the cost be trading down 1.3%, a huge drop in yields. The 20 two year yield dropped 20 basis points to 4.82%. And down a little bit more in the Tokyo session. And yield on the tenure at 3.88%. So now it's time to get back to you, Doug to unpack some of those top stories. "We heard similar sentiments from Morgan Stanley analyst Eric woodring earlier this week. Quoting his note, what gets us most excited is an apple analyst today is the business model transformation. Apple is undergoing shifting toward a model focused on installed based monetization rather than unit growth, which in our view increasingly argues for evaluation more commensurate of a subscription like business instead of a technology platform. Funny story, anx ideas aren't even new for Goldman Sachs. It's just been a few minutes. Apple three O's as Aang's thinking puts his firm back where it was before rod hull hit the scene in the 2010s. In November of 2015, a little over three years before Apple stopped reporting unit sales for iPhone or anything else, then Goldman analyst Simona jankowski wrote up an idea called Apple as a service. According to Apple three dot O, and thought the days of measuring Apple by counting iPhone unit sales might be coming to an end, the smartphone battle ground is shifting from unit land grab she wrote in a note dated November 15th, 2015 to user monetization through content and services, such as video, music, apps, games, and payments. Anyway, there's a new sheriff with old new again ideas and town. Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Aang starts his apple coverage with a buy rating up from hull's neutral, things 12 month price target on Apple shares as $199 from holes old and seriously soggy target of 130 bucks. There may be a new hue of iPhone as early as today, rumors have been bubbling for the past few days that Apple might update the iPhone 14 line with shades of yellow. The springtime color refresh for iPhone has been a thing for the past couple of years, a piece from Mac rumors reminds us that on Tuesday, march 8th of 2022, apple introduced a new green color for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini and the new Alpine green color in the iPhone 13 pro models. In April 2021, Apple made the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini available in purple. The move to green for iPhone 13 was a year ago tomorrow, a point not lost on Bloomberg's Mark gurman, the same Mac rumors piece. I had gurman hitting Twitter with the message nearly a year to the day after the announcement of the green iPhone 13, a new iPhone 14 color is indeed imminent. "For you here on Bloomberg radio throughout the week and focus especially on the UK. HSBC, those one of those UK banks with such a big Asia tilt, so important to kind of think about what they are going to tell us about the second biggest economy in the world. Yeah, it's actually a fascinating window into Hong Kong and also Mainland China. And they're obviously going through this really intriguing time where their larger shareholders effectively asking them to change their strategy. So this is ping an at least sort of indirectly or carrying out proxy campaign to try and split that bank up effectively and really focus on its Asia. Operations. I think there's a couple of technical things almost that we should look out for there. One would be, you know, they've put in their previous quarters warnings about basically the Chinese property market and they sort of suggested that would start to fade away this quarter. Question is will it? Or will they perhaps be worn in that market is still a bit troubled? That would be a sort of certainly a negative sign. And then of course, what are they going to say about this ping Aang situation? Both sides have been very quiet of avoiding too many public comments, but you'd think in the second quarter HSBC really have to say something. In terms of other European bands to think about, I mean, worth mentioning, of course, BNP Paribas, soc gen, BBVA, in Spain and what might we see from some of those other big European names. The French banks will be interested in a sock gen, one of the big big French rack will be interesting because of its collection to Russia. So like uni credit in Italy, it's got a very big or had a very big Russian operation which is subsequently sold. So I think its results would be quite distorted by that. They're going to take a big multi-billion dollar hit on that. And the question will be how much does that behind them have a kind of close that off and they can look forward sort of go ahead with a bit more of a clean business structure now. At the same rate for uni credit in terms of they again have a massive ration unit and they've got to be very clear on that what they do. And then B and P, I think it's the biggest lender after HSBC in Europe. And for me, I think Trump's not about them and they still have all this money from selling their U.S. unit. And so they're constantly the source of speculation about, oh, maybe bolt on acquisitions. I think this is a story a few weeks ago about them, potentially buying the Dutch lender, AB and ambro, which would be a huge sort of completely seismic deal. In fact, went through, not really clear that it is happening, but I do think that people will be looking out for signs of all have they made any acquisitions. What are they going to do with these billions like Facebook has got socked away? But before we even get into that, I want to introduce you to the theme or the series for the month of November. Now, you guys seem to really love the wellness series. So I said, let's do it again, but this time we're going to be talking about resetting relationships. And we're going to do it just a little bit different. And tell yes. You hired me. Resend relationships, fancy. So with the holidays coming up, I thought it was really important to give you guys some good content on how to process your emotions appropriately before you gotta go see Aang Barbara in them. We gotta get y'all mine right girl. So first, we're gonna be talking about processing emotions and then later this month, I want you to join me for an Instagram Live. I'm gonna do a live Q&A on November 18th at two p.m. central standard time. Now, if you can't make it live, I am going to be accepting questions ahead of time. And then, of course, if there are some people that are on the live that want to ask some questions, I'll do my best to answer them as well if we have enough time to do that. But we always have to start internally when we are discussing our emotions because our responses to other people also impacts the relationship. Relationships are two way streets, so yes, people do stuff to us, but then the way that situations turn out is often a result of our response. If that makes sense. We can not do a relationship reset without processing how we feel about what has happened. So let's stop playing around and dig in. Shall we? Okay, so for those of you that are new to this concept, you might be asking yourself, what is processing my emotions and while on earth do I need to do it? At the core, processing your emotions is simply about bringing awareness to our emotions, our thoughts and our feelings so that we can make sense of our reality. Now, I know in communities of color, we don't tend to have a lot of these conversations. And I can only speak for like growing up and childhood experiences because I have to be honest, I'm seeing this more and more in communities of color where we talk about our feelings in a way that is validating and accepting..

"Not exactly hyped about it, compared to, you know, the FTC community. I'm interested in it because I feel like Nickelodeon has the roster that can compete with the Nintendo. But looking at the gameplay, the animations are a little bit janky. It looks okay for the most part, but I don't know if they'll get everything correct the first time around, maybe the second time. But I'm interested in trying it and seeing what it has to offer because I think smash Bros needs. I think for a while, people have been trying to create smash clones when none of them ever properly stuck outside of bra and even still raw haul it didn't really go mainstream. It has like it's core audience and they have their tournaments, but it's still not on the same level as like smash Bros. We thought it was gonna be PlayStation all the stars that shit was asked. I think this actually has the potential to stick neck and neck with it because of the roster of the characters. People will be more intrigued by it. Oh, I can make cat dog, fight fucking hey Arnold, that shit sound kind of lit. And then you can make Avatar Aang fight Tommy. Oh, Corey. That's just kind of lit. The roster's looking really good in terms of the character. So I'm definitely I think it comes out the 5th, we're recording on October 3rd, like this Tuesday. So I'm gonna definitely try that out, probably at the stream some of the run of fade would beat up nomad. What's the name? I'm only looking at the other than that. It really wasn't anything in the game's comm game, so I was never really that impressive to me in the first place that stood out to me. But during the September knife showcase from Sony, they revealed some new God of War ragnarok gameplay, which, by the way, they spoiled the fuck out of that game if you did not play the first God award that was on the first ten seconds of it. Yeah. They spoiled the fucking ending and I was low key kinda heat. I was like, I played the game, but I was like, yo, I know the game's been out for a couple years. I was like, yo, that they literally spoiled at the end of the game. How are y'all feeling about that new gameplay? That was cool, I guess. It was so slow. It looked like more God award of me. At this point, I'm not playing it for the story. I'm not gonna lie, yeah, I kinda was like watching it and I was like, I'm not gonna lie to you. If you took it any screenshot of this game and you send to me and say, which got a war is I genuinely would think it was like an expansion of 2018. That's not like be a bad thing because like 2018 looked really good. There was like moments like I just couldn't tell that it was like a different game. Visually it doesn't look that much more impressive. And I think the reason is because they have to appease the PS4 fan base. It's gonna be on PS4 as well so they couldn't push the visuals as far. I think they're gonna have more sales yet. So you're just gonna get an upscaled version on PS5 pretty much. What a better frame rate. But it looks it looks like more. I mean, I guess it's cool. That's cool. Pretty much a good point because remember the world that you couldn't visit and you're and I got a warp ES four version. Yeah, there are thinking that ragnarok is truly going to be more of an expansion and, you know, just a fool or a new way to equal. So, yeah, I mean, I would have to agree with you two. I didn't see visually a step up from this one. Compared to got a word in 2018, so we'll see. I'm excited just because it got a war in life got a war was actually, you know, compared to a lot of people saying that, you know, they thought it was gonna be trash but it'll be one of the best games that year. Everybody, what the fuck? Show us something, so I think, you know, it pleased a lot of people, you know, for the meantime. You've got a warf and you're just only fancier. I saw a certain demographic was upset that there was a black woman in the trailer. So yeah. That was pretty cool. Once again, the ones again. The boy likes bad girls, what the fuck? Oh no. The other big announcement during this state of the play was a Star Wars night to the old republic remake was announced, they didn't show any gameplay which is kind of like a little teaser trailer. You're a big fan of this game. How are you feeling about that ethos? And I had a hard on bro when I saw that shit dog. I was straight on hard row when I saw that. I'm so excited to play that again. That's the one by wear game I didn't play. What was so great about it? It's a story. It is one of people arguing, it's probably in the top 5 best Star Wars stories of all time and it talks about rev. It's like the entire backstory of revenue and stuff. And revenue is considered like a lot of people who don't know about it like about the old republic era and stuff like revin was like. It was crazy. One of the greatest. He's not the most powerful person like that, but it's just his backstory and his how he ends up the way that he is is like really insane. It's really great. It was like one of BioWare's best games. The only problem has been those games had like aged terribly when it comes to the combat. They're like very old school turn based. And you know, it's just I try to replay it and I just couldn't. I was just like, yeah, this just feels clunky and it feels worse than like ME one felt. So yeah, good to see that they're doing like a remake of it. Yeah, I'm really excited to do it. You know what I'm talking about producing it, right? Yeah, I'm fine with that. I'm totally fine with that. If they're just remaking it kind of like how like Resident Evil was, they're like, yeah, we're just gonna keep the same story and stuff. We're just gonna be overhauling the engine and the graphics and maybe just update the combat to the action base. That's all I care about. Everything else that as long as they don't bother change too much stuff, I'm cool with it. It's just hard to talk about this game because basically the biggest coolest part about the game is just not knowing what happens and just playing it for the first time. That's what makes the game so good. But if you get spoiled on what happens in the game, it kind of like kills the allure of it, but they just play it, just play it. Just don't even research it, don't even look it up. If you like Star Wars, just play the game, and I promise you, it's worth it. It's worth it every time. Yeah, I think besides that, the other major highlights uncharted, you know, the untried collection, coming to PS5 and PC. Want to play that game. Bad boys were pissed, boys. Wait, why were they about that? Why do you think they come into PCE? I'm so far removed from that. They're still doing that shit. You guys are losers. You're still mad. They just have to accept the reality that every PlayStation game exclusive is gonna be on PC, except for the one that everybody wants, which is blood borne. They're never gonna put that on PC. "Terrible. Anyway they go back. We keep going back and forth between the fight between zuko jet and team avatar sneaking. And i really think this disservice to fight. Because i know like we're doing the same thing in the podcast but like it is like the fight is interesting but it's broken up here in so many different pieces that some of the interesting things like get broken up and you don't really get to see bill. It loses its flow. What did you think about this. Fight getting broken up. I think you summed it up perfectly like them cutting away from this fight and then cutting back to it because this if we got this fight in full it would be a great fight. Like i'm kinda wanna watch the youtube highlights of this fight rather than watching it like the way it is because for example they have the slow mo matrix shot of zuko cutting the grain inside jets mouth and a good fight honestly. I would rate if they had this. Fight it just one chunk. I would rate it higher than what i am going to rate it. Sadly i totally agree with that because we even have jet that classic trash talker in the nba there so many good examples. But it's like each just trash-talking him. He's getting in his head. He's like oh i wish you could hit me at the fire blast right now Then he's like joking around. We also have the thing where he takes us to hook swords any swings both of ones which is like super cool. There's so many cool moments of this fight but i feel like it loses momentum every time because yeah we see like We see them like fight. "Is like by far the most impressive dive. Maybe like ever animated. I don't know if i have to many adebayo dies to reference but yeah she does have a ten year. You're supposed to not make a splash. But i think being a water bender would also make it easier. Just be not very fun. 'cause like he just would not have a splash like it'd be that easy That's actually one thing. I hadn't thought of before if there wasn't olympics for the four different nations. They would have to have like some serious rules about bending like. Could you imagine if they're having like i don't know the biathlon or something and the fire benders able just like shoot fire all the targets in like never miss. It's just broken yet but the current everybody else shoot like rocks in water and air respectively at the targets to. Yeah okay fine now now. Unfair the diving ones clear like any swimming. Here we're talking like hundreds or thousands of refugees. Yeah they are just amazed by the sight of all the people that are around. This is like a sobering. Look at what's going on in the war and stuff because prior to this they always talk about the war but you never really see the effects of it until now you're seeing these thousands of poor starving refugees so it's pretty pretty messed up stuff in the avatar world. Do i fire nation. I think they do a good job of showing that because like you know the whole thing the whole series is about like you know stopping this war. I think do a good job of just not not just showing you the like aerobic battles but also showing like the refugees. That are getting hurt. The cities that were demolished. All that like. It's very sad to see. Yeah good job relaying these messages to children as because this is a show for kids and it's like describing the horrors of war two children. So i think they do artful job at the. Yeah we cut to a few other refugees now on a ferry. Some refugees that we know and love we got iro in zuko gone by their names sheet and lee and then we have a few freedom fighters got as we said earlier. Jets smeller being long-shot. Yeah it's fun here. I think ira has some good moments. Where he's like.
