Keep the government's hands off of it. Get with the smartvestor pro. At daveramsey dot com. They'll help you do that as far as your tsp goes. "Your host. Ken coleman ramsey personality is my co host today. Thank you for joining us. Open phones at triple eight eight to five five two two five. That's triple eight. Eight to five five to five anders in washington. Dc andrew. how are you dave better than i deserve. What's up so We've been working with plan for three years We pay it off just on one hundred thousand all of that. And then the next two years spent Saving up and obviously doing emergency fund and we did the three we saved almost two hundred thousand. Put down montana house. Then we have our emergency fund in place great. So we're looking to kind of do the four five and six perfect Now the fifteen percent got that. That's great we'll start investing in retirement and now the question i have is the five twenty nine. Should i do that. A separate brokerage account. That's not a traditional five point nine specifically with our income and then we don't know if our kids are or are not going to go to college. Well what is your household income so right now it's A little over two hundred but kinda projected to go up okay. Well to start with. No one knows what they're gonna go to college but we're for sure know that if they don't have the money it's going to be harder so five. Twenty nine grows tax free. I love keeping the government's hands off the growth. It can be transferred to a sibling. It could be transferred to a parent another family member. It can be transferred if they don't use it. If they got scholarships they can you can pull from five twenty nine the equivalent amount of the scholarship with no taxes. Tax free growth. And so yeah. I'm doing a five twenty nine. I'm not gonna over-funded if you have concerns. I'm not gonna put two hundred thousand dollars in there but but i'm definitely going put forty or fifty sixty grand in there depend on age of the kid and maybe even more but and let it grow brokerage account infers that you're buying and selling stocks and you don't need to be doing that especially for your kids college so i don't want that much risk. I just use good growth. Stock mutual funds in tax free growth in a five twenty nine and that and you choose the mutual funds. And you choose to move them around. That's the type of five twenty nine you want. We're very specific about that. In in financial peace diversity in the total money makeover. But yeah just you know you don't have to overdo it but i don't do it either and over thinking about whether your kids going to college or not interesting so when we start the show. Thirty years ago the assumption was everybody wanted to go to college and now they don't yeah and increasingly becoming the case but also point out here that these five twenty nine plans that money can be used for non traditional college education as well so trade schools. That's anything from tech schools me you can use that and and so. You're seeing more and more opportunities for people to get qualified to do the work that want to do so. It's not like you're being unwise by for private school when they're one k. Through twelve you can. That's exactly right. So it's still the best option now. In keeping the government hands off the taxes and not screwing around with the money was single. Stock trades acting like you and your buddy eating a biscuit at cracker barrel. Have a clue what's going on. Don't do it don't do it. Man it just get in there and for mutual funds. Those guys are on. The mutual fund are coming coming to work in a car longer than your house. They know what's going on. So it's it's not perfect but that's where all of my kids college money was being hypocratical And so yeah. I'm doing a five twenty nine. You can use private school k through twelve. You can do any kind of post secondary education. There's all kinds of stuff you can use it for legally and it keeps the government's hands off of it and so you know if you put twenty thousand dollars in there and it grows to eighty or one hundred. That's eight thousand dollars with no taxes on it. I liked that. I liked that a lot better than screwing around with it in a baroque accounts. Right and a lot of options tons of options Gustavo is with us in tucson. I mispronounced that how you pronounce your name. I did say you nailed it. I wound in. He'll billy. Spanish is just a hard thing i'm just saying. So what's up Well i kind of had like a weird question. I on baby step. I'm finishing up baby. Step three next month just to give you a heads up of where i'm at and I wanna get a toy. I had when i was in debt. But i wanna make sure it's kind of weird because my vehicles aren't worth too much and the toilet i'm looking into. Which is the razor run. They run about fifteen thousand news. And that's more than my vehicles combined. But i'm we're kind of happy vehicle. So that's what my questions kinda. Is it weird that my toy would be more expensive than my vehicles. Even though we would be to this pike cash. Yes all right. I mean it's it's where you know. It's where that's why you're asking right. You aren't use weird but it's cool they're neat feat vehicles. Man you're talking about the is the canam make that who makes that really does Polaris makes yeah. That's right yeah. I've got some friends kabo. That have have them and they all right up the beach at kobo. Those things are very cool. They look they look to man and they will hall but they're fun. Yeah so you're you're in tucson so you're doing desert desert action with the thing Right yeah i mean i can make it our latest phoenix. I'm sure yeah. I bet you could. Yeah they're very cool. It's a cool vehicle. I kind of myself but anyway the yeah your cars. Are your daily driver transportation. Your family depends on those. Your income is dependent upon those And so yeah the you know a snowmobile ac- do a boat. A razor should not be worth more than your cars. It just kind of a common sense thing. It's not really a financial thing so all it says is that you're probably not quite there yet. That would be my opinion or she made the mistake of asking. So i i'll give you my opinion but the Yeah that's i mean you've got you gotta toy your house. I do but it was a gift to you and it was and as you know. I'm cash flowing the renovation. Here's a classic car yet. Gotta two convertible karmann ghia of falun old guy in the hood loves working on him and so he's gonna help me. Put the carpet kit in just a little bit at a time because we have kids in school and and other things and so you just have to go at the speed of cash like you said when we built this place. And so i got the exterior done still a little bit more to do. And it still looks perks. What looks looks sweet. But yeah you have to kind of what's the ratio on that. I understand what he's saying. he's like well. I got babysit three needs to get the baby. Step four actually. Put that in the budget. Then he needs to begin to say for something like that and you you know. I don't know that. I have a rule and i'm just kind of sitting here thinking on the fly right really your if your if your boat is eighty thousand dollars and your cars are ten.

How Team Retreats, Even Virtual Ones, Can Build A Strong Work Culture

"Now. Building strong culture in your business is huge. Because this will allow you to motivate your team members. Even when you're not washing those people will go to work every day. Working hard for your business. That doesn't happen by accident. The happens by design. You have to actually build that culture you have to instill the culture and it takes a lot of time a lot of work one of the things. That speeds up that process that reinforces. It makes a super strong. It's kind of like a booster shot is a team retreat because you're spending a condensed amount of time with people doing a lot of activities stepping out of your normal work routine doing things for fun doing things to get to know each other. You build bonds you built connections and that culture becomes even stronger and stronger and it happens very quickly. This is what. I love team retreats. Now this is incredibly powerful in person. But it doesn't mean just because you can't do it in person. You shouldn't do it at all and this is the conclusion we came up with. We went on a virtual tree because we know. A virtual tree is better than no retreat. It's not the same we know. We're not as some exotic location. You know sipping cocktails in front of a beautiful pool. You know doing fun activities in person whether that's atv being or bike riding in a rice patty whatever it is all that stuff sounds amazingly fun and doing it over a video call is just not the same i get it but even if i get fifty percent of the results i get from a in person or tree. That fifty percent of the result is better than zero percent. This is really drove nicole night to say. Let's do a virtual tree now. What does that even look like. So you can't just treat your virtual treats like a real life in prison retreat because it's just not the same so what we're doing is we're actually just running a retreat week and we're not doing the retreat the whole week. We're actually going to carve out a couple of sessions every day three days a week. It's going to be retrea week and we're going to take time off our busy schedule. Everybody in the company for few days that we to do this retreat. Do these retrea activities which are fun which are team building which will also be informative where we'll talk about the future of the company and what's coming down the line but also have a lot of fun doing team building activities having dinners having parties getting to know each other and because we're we're growing team there are new team members at join all the time and we need to get to know them. We got some old hands on our team and they're great but they need to get in on the new peoples

No More Noise: Turning Down the Volume on Cities

"During the pandemic open outdoor spaces like parks became even more essential on top of being the usual place for quiet. Walk to commune with nature. People were spending a lot more time outdoors and those who live near green spaces especially in urban areas appreciated them even more like the park surrounding the jamaica plain section of boston. We have probably more greenspace than any other neighborhood in boston. This is dr martha karsh share. She's a retired family medicine specialist. Who's lived in this jamaica. Plain neighborhood for more than three decades. We've got to make a pond. We've got the arboretum. We boarder franklin hark on. We have a wonderful forest hill cemetery which is beautiful It's a nice place to live. If you don't have a lot of disposable income you live in a three decker or one of those little tiny row houses the greenspace makes for an idyllic urban rest spent right car share says. Franklin park has become anything but sitting at boston. Leaders are looking for peace in franklin park new tonight. Take a look at this video near franklin park. It is a wild scenes like this that have people living in that area raising concerns about safety. There's been groups of up to a hundred dirt bikes motorbikes. Atv's motorized trikes. So the summer of the year of eighty slash eighty one. That school year mcglade. Six year. I had a paper route and so thin fax from august until the next september. It was a morning paper and it was too hard There's no other way saying it was because if there is really get a blizzard five in the morning you have to deliver the papers. And i'd walk around with his bag papers so in the summertime when the sun was shining the birds chirping even as ten year old. There's a neat way to start my day. It was very peaceful tranquil. But i remember like literally getting up on school mornings at five in the morning and walking in snow up to my hips and delivering paper. Vapors very unsafe by today's standards. Stand or delivering something. Nowadays there might be a new way to deliver or do something with social media or something just as a kid but what. What did you start to do as you got older. Oh and ralph garcia separated a time which saw angel and his mother grow very close the family which also included his sister rose. Ynez lived in hartford connecticut where the children drew up being taught. Bass Pro/Cabela's acquiring Sportsman's Warehouse and its 112 stores

"Up in new york but it has one hundred and twelve store locations it has product offerings for fishing camping hunting boating and so this merger seems like it's really logical it will get to expand its product offerings one of the other companies owned by the great american doors group as bass pro shops which is a company i had heard of. They have premier hunting gear as well they can get more boats in. Atv's as well as they have different conservation efforts. The great american outdoors group is one of the leading conservation movement so they protect wildlife. They introduce people to nature. They work with legislation. And so it's kind of a cool merger. I think johnny mars is the head of the group and he actually founded bass pro shops in one thousand nine hundred seventy two so. I think it's a really interesting group. group that i hadn't been super familiar with his one of those companies that because it's not necessarily focused in cities as sometimes it might be overlooked. It's also great to be talking about a retailer. You know still in the mix of things Still viable being taken private. Obviously but you think back. On how many retailers we saw. I don't wanna use the word niche but but certainly let's. Let's call it specialized too because sportsman's warehouse has its category in the same way. That sirois tab has its category for for kitchen goods and that sort of thing and searle atop didn't make it they're going into bankruptcy and we've seen so many retailers really take that hit this year so it's nice to see a business like this continuing on into two thousand twenty one. Yeah and it's interesting because they've actually done really well this year. I think it's help in the way that people are going more outside and you don't have as much to do so. Camping is more of a social distance activity fishing. All of the things that are kind of right within their wheelhouse and they also own a nature resort. The great american outdoors group also owns big cedar lodge in the ozark mountains in missouri. Which hopefully as things get to open up you can people will be able to go back to that And so. I think it's kind of this really interesting niche and they have a community center as well so through bass pro shops. There's something called the bragging board. So people can share their victories hunting and fishing and camping and things like that so they have they really operate in this kind of cool niche that has been really propelled with people having more and more incentive to be outdoors socially distant and then they also have this kind of community that helps keep it strong. So i think it it makes sense and i think it's gonna be a strong merger for both of them. Although you just touched on something with regard to the stock that i do think is interesting. Which is that sportsman's warehouse. I mean obviously it's having a great day. It was having a good year. Twenty twenty was good for this stock even before the big pop that we're seeing today you go back the previous five years though. It's only been public since about two thousand fourteen. Wonder Woman 1984 is better than the original

"So we can get down the details of bottom line. Did you enjoy it. Was this good movie. yes. I thought it was great. It was probably little better than the first one. That is for reference sake and for four reference sake. Disa- gives a little context. What did you think of wonder woman. I think generally got positive reviews but there are folks didn't like it or thought it was a little derivative comic book films. Where did you stand on the opinion of that original film. I was great. I was i went into that. In twenty seventeen with sort of neutral expectations given how inconsistent dc extended universe movies are. I was very pleasantly surprised. It's probably my favorite of the recent modern movies and naturally four is a little bit better than that. Well that is high. Praise the main as you note the dcu has been inconsistent but there have been some some bright spots here there without going to spoil territory. I know you can't spoil too much. The details of what makes one thousand nine hundred four better than the original. The emotional core. He's very strong. That's that's super vague. Butch like so. Diana goes on an emotional journey. Tried to put this announce votary terms. Yes she she mirrors a lot of characters around her alike so petro pascal plays max lord's and he's kind of the bad guy and krista week is barbara minerva. She's somewhere in there. I won't spoil the nature of her character and they kind of go on these different emotional journeys based on magic the magic in this and he's kind of propels the plot and they each react to his in different ways. Movie always takes time to establish the characters emotional baseline where they're coming from. And it's very clearly informs how they react to the situation and it's just really satisfying like that. Okay and in terms of how it fits with the the dc you i know. It's not exactly a cohesive. Simak universe like marvels is but in terms of like linkage to some of these other movies. Is there some of that or is it. More of a standalone i know. Dc is largely been pushing towards more standalone films. Where where does this sort of stack up. Well so this is. The title suggests that in one thousand nine hundred eighty four where the twenty seventeen was set during world war one. That's so it's all well before the made events of the other movies so they feel very stand alone. It's her kind of passed before we see in those other movies and as a result like they could be watched on their own. Like in sequence. Which i think is really satisfying took. Follow along with her specifically this is. This film is notable. Not just because it's the next dc or actually the first big comic book movie to come out this year. It's also coming out here in the us at least coming out on hbo mac for free if are subscriber and that is a pretty radical move. I'm just curious what you think that experience or if that experiences changes in one of these big cinematic blockbusters really meant to be seen in a theater is going to be debuting in. Most people's living rooms are on their phones or tablets so i went to a socially distance. I am screening here in london to. I feel like all this is the way to see. This is a very big spectacular movie like they all are and i was glad to see it on a big screen like first safety reasons like hbo. Maximum wage ago for people in the states. All our subsequent viewings or these movies are always on tv or on atv at home at. It's fine so it's probably just idea that we should see these terms on the big screen but like if you have a big tv and look decent sound system. This'll be pretty spectacular. And you don't have to deal with the stuff you have to deal with going to movie theaters. Like deep la thoughts or you know. The usual distractions. At least you have that control.

Kanye West leaves fans concerned

"Tiny west was banned from twitter for a whopping twelve hours for posting private information after the rapper engaged in yet another tweet storm. This since deleted tweet included the phone number of an editor for Forbes magazine and the caption that read quote if any, if my friends want to call a white supremacist, this is the editor of Forbes and then had his phone number. That's wild west also appeared to be West. Appeared to be urinating on one of his grammy's with the caption quote. Trust me I won't stop. And I believe him I believe he will not stop I. DO I trust them I definitely trust him on that one. After deleting twenty on Monday declaring that he would not release any new music until he is released from his contracts with Sony Slash ATV. Music Publishing and Universal Kanye West on Tuesday shared a screen shot of what appeared to be a text message conversation with an unnamed adviser who proposed potential game plans and claimed West West is masters are worth more than Taylor. Swift's which I do not think is true I took a poll on instagram and sixty six percent of you think that Taylor's masters were definitely or are definitely worth a lot more. West who Forbes this year estimated had become a billionaire could by his masters or rerecord them. which was the same. You know thing that approach Taylor swift with and the adviser said, but Taylor's caused three, hundred million yours would cost a lot more. I assume the adviser also referring to Scooter Bronze Twenty Nine Acquisition of the label big machine records from Scott for Chata. West. Could also propose a yeezy media and universal joint venture that is equal but not one sided but West replied that he is quote not open to any form of business with universal or Sony. So Conway is. I don't know if you can hear me like doing this while I'm recording but I'm just and break my finger is in my because I just I guess now my head hurts from all of this, it could just so ridiculous. So Kanye. Is Back at it and Kim. Kardashian is just an absolute saint for putting up with all of this because this really is just. So, Connie makes me really uncomfortable with this holy Jesus thing and calling himself a new Moses or whatever now I'm not. Religious by any means I grew up a Christmas Catholic but I went to Sunday school until I got my first communion. So I know there's like this quote out there somewhere that's like I'm your God in new shot have any other gods besides me in a very loose translation, but with Connie being so religious as he claims. It just totally contradicts himself and what he believes and it makes me just really uncomfortable. The whole Sunday service thing is starting to look much more like a call like it was really cute at first but now it's just looking kind of creepy. The whole yeezy brand is very like Orwellian to me and That makes me uneasy when he walked on water at a Sunday service, it wasn't cool it which is weird and they feel like all of these antics like if of these antics came from anybody else. They would be much more called out on it. But because it's conway. And he's just surrounded by so many like, yes people he's not getting really caught out on it people just like ha-had Connie being crazy again, Kanye Saha. Typical and I'm just getting to the point where I'm just very uncomfortable. I. Don't like I really don't support it and listen at the end of the day I hope that he can find help that he means but this is all starting to be a bit too much for me. I I can't I. Don't know how much more Kim is going to last with all of this. I imagine that Kris Jenner is absolutely horrified like they can't keep making excuses for his behavior or acting like everything is okay. Hey they either need to distance distance themselves from him or like diving completely and acknowledged that he is sick like more than just like a statement like actively. Be An advocate for him as opposed to just being quiet and like sweeping things under the rug. Family matter but it's like you have to pick a side. You just have to especially with the platform that you have. You just need to make a decision but again, that's just my opinion. and. You know in the words of Taylor Swift, you just need to come down. I think his value is going to keep going down with literally everything that he does.

New EPA standards for airplanes

"Is Reuters. Web Story here US EPA proposing I ever airplane emission standards. This is a story that's dated July twenty seconds. So just about a month ago I WanNa, say David with us on the list who did put this this David wearing? Louis. Do either of you know more about this. So apparently, the US EPA has decided that needs to get serious about getting consistent with some I. emission standards and. because these foreign countries might stop letting American planes in land, there may stop letting. Yeah. So. I don't know is this a big deal or is this Does this apply to g? A Yes. Yes it does. Okay. My understanding is that it applies to not in-service aircraft. Future designs right and that's the other thing. The does say that here in the story, it's which had which like you know ten years from now, it will have applied to six airplanes I got the job. Let's see, and that's the hook here for not having the the aircraft manufacturers GPA community and others come out of the woodwork on this because EPA is long lusted after the. Ability to enforce emission regulations on on general aviation particularly the environmentalists out in. Oregon Washington State California. I mean it was part of the big fight over Santa Monica Airport. Airplanes burnin leaded fuel. Yeah. That's what I was. GonNa say it's leaded fuel that we burn and. These standards go deeper than atvs also been noise concerns say the Grand Canyon Yep. Yeah I'm not sure if I get the connection, the Grand Canyon noise pollution as annoys airplanes. Okay. Yeah Yeah. Okay. So I guess that brings you back my first question here this story about EPA starting to enforce some regulations or greetings and regulations. Is this a deal for us or is this like like a just like we just said it's new airplanes only. So as long as you're flying an airplane that wasn't designed like ask her today. Know I. I'm not sure I haven't looked at this. And I could probably click the link that they put up here. A lot of this is going to apply. To TURBAN, aircraft. Including business jets but. It's not clear. That they will apply. For you. Should. Jabs find. Or whatever you like. David while we're while he's gone so. Epa I mean is this What do you think? Well? First off, let's give it some perspective here And according to this piece aircraft account for twelve percent of all transportation greenhouse gas emissions. And three percent of total us such US emissions. They're the largest source of transportation related greenhouse gas emissions not subject to standards. So what they WANNA do here is apply these. Standards that they've proposed. To new type designs as of January twenty twenty. And in production airplanes or twenty or twenty, twenty, one, twenty, twenty. Okay. Thank you and in production airplanes or those with amended Type Certificate starting in Twenty Twenty eight. They would not apply to airplanes currently in use that's what it says, and then that's a little bit confusing for me because. If it was built in January in delivering put into service in February it's obviously in us, but they say that's when they want the effective date to start on this or so. Now, I'm not completely clear here we're the lines being drawn. But The. Standards are fairly sweeping. I mean everything from noise to to nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide, and so forth But. It was an adventure -ality that this was going to be a fight at some point. I mean, yeah, I mean on one level it's. It's only right. It's just I. Don't know I'm protective in the area because we don't have a lot of good options for the leaded fuel but. Otherwise. You know we got to fix problems.

"Jon Wertheim here, and it's this week's. Illustrated Tennis podcast, we have two guests this week, a bonus guest in mainstream tennis player guest I. Am Query joins us. He is at the Greenbrier in West Virginia where he was laying world team tennis, and then as he will explain, is ready to embark on a full season starting in August, and we talked to him about what it's been like in the tennis bubble what his plans are for the rest of the season and sort of what the impact of this crazy and cratered year has been on a on a player of his status, his age. then. We have Eric Hutchinson. He's been on the show before Eric is a friend of big. Band of tennis and we talk a bit about what it's like to be a solo performer solar artists in the time of Cova probably not dissimilar to being a singles player. Eric has a new album class of one, thousand, nine, hundred, Eighty, eight. So we talk a bit about the process a bit about this sort of enforced break that we are all on. What the overlaps between music and tennis. All right now and some tennis chatter with a big tennis fan. So Sam Corey versed Haircut Simpson's second. Let's start in. West. Virginia. You're. In the bubble. I am. Tennis bubble. Let's let's start the president as a been. IT'S BEEN AWESOME You know for me I hadn't told a match in. Australian Open because my wife had a baby in February also I mean it's been five months. So I was excited to go I think all the players here are are really loving it and it's fine and we're finally back plans some competition and it's been great i. mean the I've never I don't know if you've ever been here. I. Know I haven't most you'll have in, but the resort is awesome So it is a bubble but at the same time you can there's golf fishing a bunch of restaurants you can go. You know skeet shooting eighteen. So you're you don't feel like you're just you're playing tennis and going back to your room. There's so much to do outside tennis, which is really made it fun for everyone because we are here for for three full weeks. And it's great to be back in absolute competition and. Going to court I mean it's going great so far. Some sounds like summer camp widsom competitive tennis thrown in. That's exactly what it feels like especially 'cause you're you're in the mountains that it's got a very, very much camp field. We're we're only doing this audio. I have to say you're your backdrop is tremendous. It looks like I mean you can kind of see like. Beautiful. No it's. It's this part of the I've never been here like I said it's I mean we went ATV and a few days ago, and you go up in the mountains in the views and. I. Spectacular. Doesn't sound like a bad way to spend July. What's been the? What about sort of the training, the nutrition, the hydration everything that comes with competitive playing how have you been able to deal with? With that. I, mean for me personally that's been that's been tough. The last like months to find the motivation for practice knowing or not knowing when we're GONNA. Start. You know you're kind of always like like apprenticed for like, wow not studying for I'll just as the next day and then I do the next day. So you know the last two months I haven't practicing hard but there's there's a practice shape and there's match shape. It's hard to really get back into your match shape until you play match. So. I'm doing the best. I can I've got Christian Cossio who travels with me as like a physio here with me. So we've been in the gym every day and working on my body. So physically actually feel fine because you know the team that I'm on I'm only playing singles every day. So I've literally got a thirty minute sets of five. And that's all the tennis I'm playing. So off days and even some matchdays I'm finding the other guys have updates in in an extra and extra practice and spending time in the gym and trying to make the most of it won't here. What's the level play? Overall? It's been high I. Mean I've played tennis twenty years because of the incentives this year online means finals, winters, It's intense. The teams are into it i. mean every you really feel like everyone's kind of laying it out there and It's made it better. You know I it's fun of the past but these incentives, I, it's it's up the level and there's a few more come on. There's a the teams kind of gathering around over a little bit more. So it's it's been really fun and I hope they continue to do is incentives can. Stays at this level. Yeah. I mean I was GONNA. Say, this is an interesting. You're a world team tennis veteran. This is unlike any other season you've had you just. League can. Use this crazy. This crazy three weeks as a springboard. I hope. So I. Mean Look at Fred Leading Eric Davidson behind it and they love tennis and You know they seem to have the financial backing to help move it forward in a good direction and Like the nave because of what happened, I mean the level and the talent they have this year is like no other year they've had world tanks. See this type of caliber players for a full season. So hopefully I mean I everyone that plays this year know especially those top players are GonNa say oh. My God this has been fun like this has been a great. Few weeks of practice, it's fun to be on a team and hopefully for the years moving forward, they're going to those top players GonNa WanNa do it again. Give, give us your your like top top four players of the season. If you're writing in your MVP, votes would be Gosh I would have to look at kind of like the the win loss record. you know Bethany Matic Santa's up there because she's just it seems like every mixed doubles in every doubles cheese. You know winning most of those. Sets. closers was up there until she got her she was just on fire. So I'm still GONNA put closers in the mix and then. Not so I'M GONNA try to I'm trying to think of a guy that's. been somewhat dominant. I can't tell I. Don't know I would need to look at like. He's been winning losing.

"Around so I think it is important to To Differentiate what you're talking about and. I think that you know this. You know I got a little excited when I got to wear. A helmet when I pull my Little Utd, which is a four wheel thing but a snow plow on it. And I pulled my helmet on just driveway and I think I don't know how you would enforced on per on your own private land. Do. What would that sad? It also like to ask the young lady. There qualifies forgetting your name but How do you have any statistics on how? These accidents and these. Accidents happen how how many times alcohol or drugs is involved in the Or the person is under the influence of either. Really, good question, vic. Thank you very much Abby take it away. Yeah and so we have found that in about half of the adult cases, alcohol appears to be a factor at some level. That is a that that's a factor in many of these instances, so some of the hazards that you mentioned in one of the safety tips there in term well I should just summarize first There's an important safety tip which is that when you're gonNA head out on the trail. do little advance scouting especially if you're thinking about heading out there high-speed. figure what hazards might exist, are there ditches? It could that could interfere with your travels and sometimes they appear in spring in a spring Melt. In Russia water, they'll be new hazards that appear in some of these trails and roads out there the class, four roads and so on. One. You mentioned just really kind of raises a nightmare scenario. Abby, Bearman and that was. So Nice people do put a say cable across the trail to mark off a property line, or basically try to enforce it no trespass, kind of an order or something. and these cables. Are you know in in going to be hit by a writer at high speed? That Have you seen any The hospital seen any accidents like that, abby. Abby bearman with us. Will. Do. We have another dropped. Call what about what about the Danny Hale? talked about about that sort of scouting process there. When you're trying to make sure you're you're you're? You're trails are safe. Danny. let's see here we are. Okay Actually we just have a few minutes to go here, so we're GONNA. Try Try to get our two guests back online I know. Exactly, maybe we have a cell phone. A cell phone networks you right now. I'm not sure where, but I will I'll. I'll recite some of these other safety tips in the meantime, because I do want to get these out there. folks to be considering they are, they are important. tuned in to know about here. and one is D-. There's talk of as we talked about fitting in the eighteen hundred writer wearing a helmet. Nowhere, you riding, there are public ATV trails in regions. Such as vasa trails in Vermont. If you're riding on private, trails or private property, check for hazards and risks, such as laundry lines, cables, blocking off trails ditches. Doing a safety check every spring after the snow melts periodically throughout the summer can help keep writers safer. The only time ATV should be on a road is to cross it. Cross the road in locations where it is safe to do so, and you have good visibility of oncoming traffic from both directions so not. Not right behind the curve, folks and Danny's at another another tip. You like to say only cross roads. Only only you're only time on a road should be should beat across it in an only in places where good visibility. Yes, that's a great safety. Standard Safety Idea of right there Vermont we do have access some loads for parts about bacterial system We use them as connectors to our private property trails. All that does is. Exemplified the fact should be our now. This are the basic safety rules. Yep -nother tip supervise supervise young riders. ATV's may be fun to ride with. They are not toys. The American Academy. Pediatrics recommends that children who are too young to have a driver's license not be allowed to operate an off the road vehicle address for the ride besides a properly fitted helmet, writers should wear long pants over the ankle boots, long sleeves, gloves and goggles. Clothing should be well fitted. To limit the risk of catching on surfaces or objects take safety class whether you're new ATV's or been writing the for decades. It's always good good idea to take a safety course he.

"Those things combined that again? Leave assets to support. Including supporting legislation to make count, it's mandatory the mall. While Okay and and so you would like to see helmets worn by by riders. On ATV's not just on your trails, but everywhere in the state. certainly when you're, you're recreational writing. If you're just pulling a you, know your ATV around your lawn. is very very low wage speed and using utility manner there. There's some some movement there where you may not need to. But certainly if you're doing any type of recreational riding trail riding, I certainly anything to do with a lot of the roads to their on the communities. Anything of that nature you you need to wear. Great. And of course! We should mention it. Eighty ATV's often are used as as important sort of as you put it utility or service vehicles where you know, you need to pull some equipment out to to a section of your property that would be a long way to carry it, so you put in maybe a little trailer Hook and see the back of your ATV and off you go. And that's that is a different a different animal of usage. I would think than you know it's more toward farming, or or just you know property may maybe some Would you know force maintenance and that kind of thing? although even that case, abby I would think you would like to see. People wear helmets. Even if they're heading out to just do yours. Yeah I know we're definitely digging down to better understand. What people are doing at the time of injury? But I mean ATV's are large vehicles. I mean even if I'm just moving my car. Down my driveway. I'm still probably going to put my seatbelt on. That's your injury prevention specialist so i. I don't mean to laugh, but it just. Started cracking up but ITO. Oh, actually the truth is. I probably do it I just had a habit, and in fact I remember one time a few years ago. I live in this little back street in my. And I got the bottom on my street and I suddenly I suddenly had the sensation of sort of feeling, naked or something. And I looked I said I forgot the buckle. My seat belt you know and and and I immediately buckled my seat belt, but but yeah you you. Do you develop these habits and that that's actually the best way to maintain safety is to have have these these behaviors kinda come to you, and and happened without whole lot of thought on on a daily basis, right? Exactly, if you normally wear a helmet, even if you're just calling something across your property, you're gonNA. Owes you member it when you're doing something else. Plus. Even if you're just planning to go to the back, maybe you run into a friend who's going by on the trail and they want you to join us. I know I usually get distracted when I'm Spain. I'm only induced one thing really quick always having that same equipment with you and CA- plan changes is always important. Yeah! That's that's that's an interesting point. There Abby also wanted to continue maybe to the next item on on your list. You say always wear a helmet. Let's see here. What What else do we have here? Fit the ATV to the writer. Sure that bank. You probably speak more to the different styles of ATV's and I could go. At expertise. The American Association of Pediatric says that's no children to you and to have a driver's license. They should probably not be operating or riding in any kind of vehicle. But the same time they do design. ATV's and different sizes, so they can better be controlled and ridden by their users, so making sure that the ATP is properly fetish the the driver. And making sure that you know. If you're at two percent et, insuring that both individuals there cold enough to safely ride it and we're wearing the proper safety equipment is also important. Interesting, Danny. What do you think is? Would that be good rule or as a rule right now? That says you know when you're out when you gotta take a kids especially out on an ATV or even a small adult, you know some adults are pretty pretty slight in size Fifty fifth machines to the rider. What do you make of that? Well? I think that's Great I that has been what we've been trying to accomplish in the HP. Be Bro for a number of years. is to. Make sure that people are on the right size machine had the right side the right amount. Of Safety, knowledge and adhere to. The basic safety. Net gloves I wear long pants long sleeves we promote that stuff within our organization every day. you know safely is one of the top priorities of our organization and and you know we provide safety courses for children. We provide education for adults. A lot of that comes through the dealership. and they try to make it safe and pretend that you know that's our goal is well. Yeah. That's that is a sure I mean. It's sort of common sense almost. when you're when you're going out to shop for a bicycle, you WanNa, get the right size bicycle so you know otherwise you can have somebody who. Who's legs barely reached the paddles and they're more prone to having accidents on a bicycle, so that's A. That is a always an issue. I mean it's the hard part I would imagine that these. "He's with the Vermont ATV Sports Association and we are talking about it. What appears to be from the stats being kept Vermont's tertiary care. Hospital there in Burlington. You've EMC. a big spike in serious injuries resulting from ATV. Accidents. We had a fatality just earlier this month. I know of in our own central Mont area. A young woman for Berry was. Killed in an. ATV accident over in. Orange and Danny Hill. This is this is This is pretty risky stuff. Isn't it I? Mean you know you're when you when you get out on one of these machines, it's not like a typical car where you have you know airbags, and in just the corner beams of the car and the roof and all this stuff. To and the big heavy engine if you hit something that's GonNa be absorbing some the shock in front of you. Et Cetera so. This is a whole different story, isn't it? Danny. The inhale. You're still with US Let's see here, maybe not. Just got a message, said call dropped me so maybe we tried get that rescue. Meanwhile I do hope and believe that abby urban is still with us. Abby is that right? Okay, great, well Maybe I'll get you to answer the same question. Obviously, the the risk profile of just a trip on an ATV is automatically higher than it is. Say in a regular sedan or SUV or whatever because you don't have a all of the things I mentioned surrounding you in on an ATV that you would have in the car. Yet with any kind of now motorized equipment. In car or boat and ATV, there's definitely waging. Keep yourself afer no with that is nick equipment. You wear behavior she follow. But, then I see some of those kind of ways to prevent these crashes is the fact that there's things that people can do to keep themselves safer. and talking to me a little bit about I mean you mentioned you listed some of the other day, but Fill our listeners. What is What were the items on your list? Now one of the things said. I know the Vermont. ATV's Sportsman's association does require a helmets required on all of asa trails. And for. which we love. But the thing we've noticed that when people were admitted that trump surface for ETV related injuries is that the helmet usage was really low among those patients Only about twenty five to like thirty three percent of patients were actually wearing a helmet at the time of their injury. Wow. So And actually I I'm curious. Now a most of these injuries coming in to your hospital, are they? Were they using vast trails, or were they kind of on their own property? You're on other other trails and so on around the state. Yeah unfortunately. We don't find out no just more basic list. If Ron VASIC MILLER NOT be usually if they were like a wilderness area or on a yard, or on a road, we do sumulong decent number that are on private property. So. I don't know if those are boss Bassett trails or not. That's definitely something it'd be interesting to find out. I mean I think that that would actually be a beast research, maybe for Rasa itself to find out you know of these injuries. Danny Hill you you offer on the phone situation for a few minutes. and I apologize if it was on our end. Or either way actually but. That's the nature communication. Sometimes. I just wanted to fill you in sort of wear. This conversation's been going and. I, we're talking about the fact that that On, Vasa trails and and she. She's very complimentary about this The on your trails you require. Riders to wear helmets right. Yes we do. Everything. Helmet on. And and I would think that's pretty basic common sense that you just you WanNa do that wherever you. You're writing in ATV but Abbey was saying that only a quarter to a third of the of the folks that are coming in with serious injuries were wearing a helmet at the time of the accident I and that led me to the question of do we think or I was asking? Are are are for the breakdown in terms of of these accidents, what numbers were the people on Bassett trails, versus what numbers of them were on their own, another other private property or on roads or on Any number of other places around the state where we sometimes see people. On ATV's. Do you have any sense of that? I don't have any official numbers. That I have been in a leadership position for twenty years in the in the movement here in Vermont and Certainly my my my what you're seeing is a lot of them are off. Most of them are not on Bassett trail. They are either on private property under the owner's consent. Or they're, a public. Right of way that is. Open ATV use. Code or or something of that nature. I see other thing increase. Dramatically in the past few years is. Something that because you have a, but we thought spy the side by side where you sit side by sides. They traditional straddling TV. The misconception that if they're in that. with a roll cage and they don't need to wear a helmet. Unfortunately, that's not the truth. at that point once you're inches away from. That's feel cage. you intact, more likely to get in an injury without being thrown from the unit because you get thrown around within the seats..

"With the University of Vermont Medical Center and she was talking about a sharp increase in the number of ATV accidents, resulting in hospitalizations and and then listed some safety tips for folks. Thought, I'd get Ms Ms Bearman on the program here and talk talk about a little bit about this topic along with. Danny Hale who the president of the Vermont Association of Sorry. The Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association in the through them are my guests here on the day. Grab Show Abby and Danny. Thank you very much for joining me. Today. Sure, Let you go first, 'cause you Kinda did with its statement that the hospital issued on Monday big increase in ATV accidents resulting hospitalizations. Would what have you found? Specifically that trauma center, so we're seeing the patients are aren't just at the little scrapes bruises. We're seeing people who have been seriously injured. and Aren't TV. Numbers are over three times higher than they were this time last year. pediatric increase is even higher. That's close to my more. Wow. That's that that is disturbing And, so what are the raw numbers Can you give a sense of that? What through the through the anime I guess? Is that right? And the May we had seen seventeen individuals already where in previous years we usually. Like four six cases at that point and we've had many more in June to the point where I've had no nurses and doctors reaching out to me going like hey, we keep seeing ETV patients. No the seems really unusual. Has there been winning crease? So I mean every level of our institution? People are taking notice of this. Yeah and and these are not statewide figures. These are actually just figures for the VM Medical Center. They're just numbers for trauma center so. I see okay, and and I I don't know. Have you looked into? I mean if somebody gets in an accident of any kind down to the Connecticut. River rarely. I would think they typically go to Dartmouth You could just a lot closer or if down in. the Brattleboro area. Let's say they might go to baystate medical center down or maybe to Boston or something So you don't have. We don't have complete statewide picture here I guess is what you're saying, but have you heard anything about what is going on? elsewhere elsewhere in Vermont. So there's definitely been some concern that I've heard and. Our assumption is if we're already seen it spike like this at ours Far Trauma Center that were. Screaming, there's a lot more going on in the entity. Yeah now Danny Hale. Who is the president of the Vermont ATV Sportsman's association? Thank you very much for joining me, I gather. This is not a happy topic for you, and I appreciate your willingness to I want and and sort of talk about this in, but let me Let me ask you. We, we spoke I think this morning. And you telling me that the there's been really large increase in the number of people using ATV's in Vermont. Is that right? Yes, they've been. Thank you for letting me be on the show today. Yeah This spring has been a great spring for people to want to get out and do things because he do alone, and it resulted in a very very prosperous spring. For the ATV dealers many units sold. Completely out. So that's. One thing about this. The the injuries I should say that. there there are certainly been some assumptions made. That this is a state thing we have not heard. through our channels including on. Of A large increase in accident we have heard about a large increase in users. which would help, unfortunately you know the results would potentially be an increase in the number of actual accident. We least. We. We try to follow every. Example of of safety and did behavior with our membership and support the UVM's athletes here, but We just haven't seen a large increase again through our data that we. Are Working on. And.

"Tell the Dago last weekend and fired to the race. They marched out his car and they marked behind good to the. World was A. it was a great show of A. Difference of opinion in Nascar from what we've seen before and healthy. On now. This conundrum as to how that happened, and there's a lot of conjecture because no one has really allowed in that garage area these days, and so how that thing got there. Yeah my my I was reading up on this a little bit this morning before our conversation candidate and Apparently, the the the uncertainty here is the FBI has concluded that I this looped rope which bubble wallace believes, and by the way bubble wallace apparently had not seen it himself. He had seen photographs of it so he might be describing from the photographs, but he's he's certain. It's news and you know. The FBI is saying actually. It was a garage door poll. I guess picture sort of a rope hanging from a garage sale. You might grab pull the door down and and You know the FBI look at it and said basically no news is good news right? I mean and the the driver bubba. Wallace combating. Don't give us this line of. Organic fertilizer here right. And so. That's where we are. It seems I mean I according to the stories. That are out in just this morning and so I don't know whether it will ever be any resolution as to whether. This item was induce or garage door poll, but that's that's. But. Meanwhile, NASCAR's take another step scan, and we only have a couple of minutes to go. Maybe you could tell us do. I understand correctly that that they've actually issued a ban on confederate flags that their events totally the. Longtime should've happened years and years ago, and it just was not one of the considerations when they're trying to keep the sport going, and they pay that much attention to it and perhaps the. And and that's taken care all thanks to bubble wallace. He didn't like the offensive idea. Of those confederate flags and all the trouble about statues came up He brought this forward and said. We don't need them in the NCO at the places we we run in. He being the sembler driver was. Of Blacks of that, that's a little different from some of the past, and we remember some other like drivers that had been there, but economically it's a tough sport and very expensive, and that never worked out. So now they've got a real shot with a kid getting support from Richard Petty, and the ally is is strong as anybody in the country as far as motor sports is concerned. And they are really evolving NASCAR. It's oldboy standard of many many years into something far better. Well that's That's hopeful I the best way to describe it. Is Hopeful, and let let's hope that if this was a news that no more incidents like that are occur or that if this was a news that the perpetrator of placing it, there is found in faces some accountability for that and meanwhile Ken, squire Longtime Nascar broadcaster and and raising expert in a longtime owner of wd, ev. The proposed ban on chokehold in particular choke holds of course have become infamous following the cases of George Floyd in Minneapolis is. In part because just weeks ago, the border to trustees the unions had voted to endorse black lives matter. which is explicitly a move? So here we have our senators working hard to craft legislation, which is entirely with the moment, and then my union voting against so this and then so I contacted the chair of the legislative. You ever seen a case where you know you're getting testimony from some members of the VCA, and but there's there's a significant division within within the unions ranks on an issue before your committee if you've ever seen that before. Not. Very often I think by large BSE A is not a terrific job advocating for state employees. I do think in this particular case that. The Evansdale Murders

"Longtime listeners of this fine program. We'll know that one of the tactics I would certainly use in any of these investigations is what I like to call the old pervert roundup and that is exactly what law enforcement did. Investigators tracked down approximately ten registered sex offenders living in Evansdale and all were cleared by police but according to CNN there were two hundred registered sex offenders in a ten mile radius is scary stuff now the town of Waterloo has did. He make sure that there wasn't a prison I I did. The town of Waterloo has one registered sex offender for every two hundred and thirty six residents for comparison purposes. Evansdale has a registered sex offender for every four hundred and eighty four residents over all the DCI says. It looked into over three hundred sex offenders to date throughout the investigation. Investigators had a hard time figuring out. Exactly how the girls were abducted. Where the bikes were left was quite far from their house and was not in an area. Cars could travel further. The girl sense had seem to lead into the woods. How a Predator or predators managed to get control of two girls silently and sight unseen in broad daylight. But we've we've talked about this many times normally. I'M GONNA guess that it's by threat of violence. I show you a gun. I show you a knife. You're a little kid is not gonna be that hard for me to You know most little kids are not going to think. Hey I could take off running right now or maybe I can scream or I could do something. You're going to see that gun and once that threat is made now that perpetrators in control. Yeah and what you have to wonder about two is do you take that a step further and say were they lured to a vehicle perhaps by someone they knew and trusted and there was no reason for them to scream and run away right. That's your second option. The other thought to had they been grab from another location. Perhaps a long road alongside a road. Which would make sense. And then the bikes left by their doctor on the trail and the dogs are just mistaken or confused while we talked about this a little off the record was the idea that what if the perpetrator had a truck or had A truck with maybe a cap on it where he got the girls got control the girls there now in his vehicle a he has the their bikes but now he's afraid that once he takes off that maybe somebody sees the bikes in the back of his truck. Here's the other thing to consider as well staying along the idea that it was a stranger abduction. Could we have a situation where they were somewhat targeted meaning? Had someone been watching the two girls as we said? This bike ride was pretty routine. They were out riding together often and I would imagine it would be roughly about the same time of day so somebody put together a carefully planned attack a snatch and grab of these two girls especially if they were following him and then followed them all the way to the lake that might have presented the opportunity. The perpetrator was looking for there. Were a rash of child. Abduction attempts throughout Iowa in two thousand twelve the following reports appeared in various media publications. And I'll kind of go through these one at a time. Captain you just kind of jump in where you see fit may nineteenth two thousand twelve th authorities say they were looking for a man suspected in the attempted abduction of three girls on the west side of Perry Iowa. Perry police say the man stopped his car about eight. Pm Friday and asked the Girls Ages. Eight and nine for directions to a convenience store he then tried to get the girls into the car asking for them to show him the way. Show him the directions. Police say the girls ran to a neighbor's house thankfully on June sixth of that same year. Metro police are teaming up with following a string of attempted child abductions in the Des Moines Iowa area. No this is like one hundred and twenty five miles away from Evansdale but I wanna go through some of these as we as we can hear the most recent of these attempts happened in Pleasant Hill on May twenty third of that year. Police say a man in A. Suv tried to lure a young girl into his vehicle in the same article. They're talking about walkie. Police were investigating an incident. That happened around the same date. There were two girls. They say they were followed by an SUV. In June parents and four city Iowa were notified of two abduction attempts and one of them. The driver of a Tan panel work style van stopped three children on bicycles on North Eighth Street and told them he was going to get them. The children ran away and the driver drove off. Seems like we need another stranger danger campaign through this country. I mean with all these creeps and all these pieces of shit to teach these kids one. Stay away run away. Run to the nearest house yell for help. Well what I find interesting in these situations is when you do have some a child or children who actually go missing and then the thought is abduction. You'll see these little stories in the newspapers in the local newspapers and they are just that they are little tiny stories because they don't know much about the offender they don't really fully know what the offender was attempting to do the actual crimes. They were attempting to carry ow. But it's scary stuff and they're really just delivering a little short warning to the community and to the parents in the area. What happens once you have a child who actually goes missing these stories all start to cycle back through the news because now you have people making connections and you're going alright. There's a shark in the water and he's over here swimming around in this area and look try to get somebody here and try to get somebody there In the same article captain there are going all the way back to march of that year. Where say the Police Department investigated a possible attempt to abduct a ten year? Old Boy. The boy who was in front of his home said he was approached by an Asian male roximately fifty years old with a thin face. The suspect was driving an older grey van possibly with I'll license plates. The man reportedly tried to lure the boy into his van after asking for directions to a church whether these attempts could have been the same person who took Elizabeth and lyric is almost certainly something that police in evansdale would have been. Considering at the time on the four month anniversary of the disappearance a letter appeared in the newspaper and it read to whom it may concern. We would use your name but we don't know who you are or maybe we do. Maybe you are someone who knows the girls. Maybe you're someone who just acted upon impulse. Maybe you had planned to take them. We don't know because we don't know who you are but we can sort of imagine that you must not have had the things you needed to grow up feeling safe and loved because only someone who hurts inside would hurt another person in their family. We've all heard the saying hurt. People hurt people. We believe this to be true. We are so sorry for what happened to you when you were growing up. Certainly all children do not receive all the love and care they deserve. Some are even abused by those who are supposed to have taken care of them. When that happens it is very wrong. Taking the girls from us has caused much pain pain for them pain for us and our families since the time you took them. Maybe you've wondered more than a few times how you could ever make it right how to be a hero. Not a monster. Things probably look pretty hopeless for a good outcome. We want you to know that we are praying for you to do the right thing by releasing the girls everyone wins even you the person who took them imagine how it will feel to? Have everyone remember that you were the one person and all the missing children cases the one person who cared enough to let the girls go you will not be remembered as the one who took the girls but as the one who let them come home? Our lives have not been the same since July thirteenth. Please let our girls come home to us. Do the right thing be a hero sincerely and signed by both of the families Wa- and then we're going to learn that that's not an option anymore to return the girls because the girls would be found. Yeah this takes place. On December fifth of that same year two thousand and twelve the family. They get the phone call that they were really hoping not to get. The family was told that two bodies had been found and at that time they believe them to be. The girl's three hunters found two small corpses in seven bridges. Wildlife Park and brimmer county north of Evansdale. This was a totally off the grid. One hundred sixty six acre wildlife area about twenty two miles from Myers Lake twenty two miles from where the bikes were found The area was not one that someone would just stumble upon. It was frequented mostly by hunters. Atv riders fishermen. You know outdoor people. This was a the type of park that you just take your kids for a hike and this was you said more for hunters and fishermen. Atv riders into kind of clue. Everybody in that's not from that area. When I see these types of statements it really really puts it into perspective for me. What kind of place? What kind of area we're talking about. This is also an area where people would drive and dump appliances. You know how you see. Things that are just dumped that are unwanted wanted. They have no other idea of how to get rid of them right. They just dump these appliances out in the middle of nowhere so and this is also a place that pretty much only the locals dough about you want to know about it. If you weren't from the area I mean you could find it on a map. But as I said it's it's very much like you just described it's only going to be frequented by people that are specifically intending to go to that area for the purpose of hunting or fishing

"ATV households will fall by four percent by the end of the year for the fourth time in less than two weeks North Korea has fired projectiles into the sea of Japan the two projectiles were assessed to be similar to the short range ballistic missiles tested by North Korea last week this according to one of the officials in the US government the latest test comes as a US defense secretary mark asper is in the region and the U. S. and South Korea started this joint military exercise on the Korean peninsula so let's get the latest developments with ABC's Tom rivers at that would last week when North Korea did this the president seemed to tweet about it and said like it was no big deal so it him is that a similar reaction to what we're seeing today you're absolutely right very similar you say as per is in is in Japan and that kind of thing will watch you closely were monitoring but trying to downplay it simply because the north Koreans don't like these these war exercises going on beard and they've been very very drastically reduced to a lot of this work is done on computer simulation that kind of thing if compared to what we've seen in many many years gone by but there are friends are like that is their way of getting a message across the been firing as you say now four different ways of the things over about two weeks and the latest rant about what two hundred sixty five to one seventy miles into the sea of Japan and there you go that's the message that they want to get across they want to have those discussions started with the U. S. team as soon as possible and I thought I would guess once the exercise is done maybe just maybe through intermediaries they can get the word out the yeah let's get some unofficial together around a table and let's start talking about what we can agree on how we can proceed and building up potentially then to yet another another some time of course it's no secret that North Korea has been saber rattling for a long long time to what degree do you suppose the north ians wanna make front page news at a time when the news cycle is so busy there may be they fear they're being pushed back to the second and third or fourth pages you know their their quote unquote knowledge of all how the western media works may be pretty limited right and this this is probably not the time to try to get a message through and given the fact that would be better for ways of these in two weeks it's kind of like you know where we've been there done that you know it's not going to have that shock value that may be the first one certainly did but there yeah as as the defense emerges were saying the washer closely monitoring is seeing what kind this this particular one seems to been fired from the west coast which is a little bit unusual and they think it was a solid fuel rocket of a Russian designed that in theory you could put a a nuclear warhead on the top so they're they're they're mindful of this but they're not getting bent out of shape and via the administration sort of downplaying it a bit right now all right ABC's Tom reverse thank you so much offer the roads we go and check in right now of Bob's he was.
