"First step or next step to me. That is brilliantly as usual. But one thing I wanted to follow up, you mentioned mental health parity. I'm wondering if you could explain what that is and where we are with that. So I don't know, two years ago, three years ago, we had a law in the country passed where insurance providers are required to ensure using the same word again that any patient who's insured under them has the same funding available to them to cover mental healthcare, that they have to cover physical healthcare. And that's essentially what mental health parity is, because prior to that, ensures widely variable in terms of how they would pay for care. Or what they would authorize to have paid. And more often than not, you were much less likely to have mental healthcare paid for than you were physical healthcare. Because the stigmatized. People didn't think it's not a necessity. So that's a part of mental health parity. They also just passed a law increasing the type I call it alphabet behind your name. The type of providers who are eligible to receive Medicaid and Medicare. And they added, I think, master's level, I forget what specifically that thing is licensed professional counselors are now part of that group when prior to that, they were not. Now think about that. There are far more LPC's masters level providers than there are PhD or MD providers. Yet Medicaid and Medicare were not allowing many of these folks to Bill. If you go start scrolling, I'm sure Leia can speak to this. If you try to find a mental health provider, it's probably far easier to find somebody who doesn't have a doctorate than it is somebody who does. But if you're on federally covered care, you couldn't get it paid for until this week, right? And so that's the mental health period. That's ridiculous. That's like, you know, for any kind of physical ailment when my kids were little, our pediatric practice was run by a nurse practitioner. And one of the most single most important things to me is that we have an equitable distribution of federal research dollars. So then anytime we're having these conversations, particularly around mental health, because that's what I'm passionate about. We have data that is reflecting the widest range of our young people possible. So I want all of our young people a layer, my kids, everybody's kids, to feel like they see themselves in the data so that we can generate solutions for all of our young people that are going to help the greatest variety of our young people. So that's a crude answer, but that's effectively what mental health parity is. That's super helpful. Thank you for explaining that. Especially thinking about the intersection of the Medicare Medicaid, wealth, race, and all some of the stuff we're gonna get into. So thank you. Yeah, of course.

"That was just a very unstable way to make your way into the world. And how old were you when your mom died? I was it just turned 9. It was right after my 9th birthday. So 9, and then high school ends at 1718, 18. So you've got 9 years with your mom and then 9 years with just your dad, and then your dad is in a do you remember him before your mom died? Was he that way before? Yeah, such a great question because he was, but what my mom did was to insulate. So I never really felt his wrath because she had the stay away from kind of a protector died and then you're left with the abuser. Exactly. And came as a complete shock, obviously, because he really, he traveled the world and golfed a lot and so I think she just said stay away, let me raise them and so what ended up happening was I conflated graduating from college as this binary proof that I wasn't the abject failure that he predicted I would be. In other words, he kicked me out of the house, no money, no job, no support, got to go figure it out. Plus, I got to go graduate from college. If I don't, then he was right. So I kind of figured it out and the first couple of years were very rough admittedly. But I got into a rhythm and Andy doing very, very well in school. And I'm working and making a living and trying to keeping into this rhythm. And so when I'm graduating from college, I'm looking at the people around me. And they're all going off to Harvard Business school and medical school and law school. And I'm just feeling honestly, though, like, I'm so pleased that I made it here. Like, this is like the best it's ever going to be. I don't know how I did it. I don't know, I pulled it off. And I still didn't have any of the confidence because it's just been a struggle for all this time. And I started thinking, well, what separates me from these people that have the self belief that they could go and be somebody more than

"This is the legal disclaimer where I tell you that the views thoughts and opinions shared in this podcast belong so late to our guesthouse and not necessarily Brady or Brady's affiliates. Please note, this podcast contains discussions of violence that some people may find disturbing. It's okay. We find it disturbing too. Hey everybody, and welcome back to another episode of red, blue, and Brady. I'm JJ, one of your hosts, kind of flying solo today, but also kind of not because I am joined by not one not two, but three amazing guests. Starting off, we've got Steve huff, a first help, an organization devoted to honoring the service of first responders who have died of suicide. I also have doctor Steve olbricht, an expert on workplace and school violence prevention safety and security. And then Dennis Harris cofounder of T lock, a smart gunlock company. What all of these gentlemen have in common, despite their work now currently touching on gun violence prevention is that they are all now retired law enforcement officers. And they're here today to talk about not just their areas of expertise, but a really disturbing statistic that has directly impacted their peer group, right? Which is the fact that we lose more police officers here in the U.S. every year to suicide than we do to death in the line of duty.

"But i have a front runner. Full my favorite story of the week it is this one about pump and dumps games and the corporate watchdog. We've spoken a bit about pump and dump chat rooms and the why these they games upright and this is basically where an invest up or where a group of investors push stock hod and as the price rises they sell out making a profit basically leaving everyone else though with potentially i've across stock the corporate regulator actually joined one of these chatrooms yesterday. I did surprising. Everyone is strange. Securities and investments commission posted a message on the telegram chat room telling try it is. They might be breaking the law. I have never heard of that before. And i don't think anyone in the chat room had heard of it before reports suggest didn't think it was actually esi but essex lighter in the dice had it was them. I told everyone in the pump and dump organization forum that he could say all the trades it had access to try to identities and it warned them of million dollar fines unusual tactics for unusual times..

Next honorees with the tb award. And they're people you know submit commentary and things like it's really great. Nice really cool. Then we've also put in place. This field incentive plan so basically you know we look at what the profitability for the various routes and. everything should be in again we. We're kind of made this too complex and now we need to simplify it. Yeah but to the extent that actions that the guys on the ground taking are causing additional profit to the company we give back yeah a portion of that and we'd give them the opportunity to double their annual incentive comp through the field incentive program and we've awesome. We've paid out you know. It's is calculated in. We pay up probably between eighty and ninety percent like max target your quarter and are operating expenses. Are you ask how you know how we optimize what we do. I mean our our operatings bizarre. I think they are the lowest in the industry. I know they're by far the lowest of any of the operators that have not up that we have not up interested in yet and we're about fifty percent less than our average up interest in our three thousand and when we look at public companies were significantly less than them. Yeah and it's and it just goes down like it's not he's never sitting still there inventing and they're fully armed to go and make changes and figure out you know what is it that is causing me time. What is it. that's causing me money and you know how do i do. I fix it. One guy who who brought in a automatic soap stick launcher that. He started installing certain of his wells and like it was unbelievable. The savings out of it and this is like these are the pennies nickels and dimes. That we're picking up doing this and there was pretty cool. He put together a training video. And how it works and presented to the company at one of the Health and safety meetings. I thought it was so great. I showed it to our board at our next quarterly. Board meeting is just amazing. Unbelievable the level of kind of entrepreneurialism. That we've just down the initiative that you get from people when you have a line in since right. I mean people are going to be way more willing to think outside the box about. Hey the small business. How can increase shift changes that. Yeah we had So you know as if things weren't any better for us after the oil price collapsed During cova which kind of proven the thesis right We then went and bought a big asset at bankruptcy in the summer of twenty twenty..

"Society is not exchanges the social scripted not exchanging but marking bodies which are part of the earth. We've seen that. The regime of debt directly resulted from the savage inscription or is the unit of alliance and alliance is representation itself. It is alliance that codes flows of desire not by means of debt rates for man a memory of words that represses the great intense mute. Iliad memory the germinal influx as the representative of the non coated flows desire capable of submerging. It is debt that articulates the alliances with affiliations become extent nor to form in to forge a system in extension pation based on the repression of nocturnal intensities. The alliance that answers to it. Nature described as humanities prehistoric labor. The use of the cruelest nima technics in naked flesh to impose a memory of words founded on the ancient bio cosmic memory. That is why it is so important to see debt as a direct consequence in the primitive inscription process instead of making it and the inscriptions themselves into an indirect means of universal exchange. Is the family. I was born with alliances the extended groupings of that. They went through a lot more in depth of that. But it's Where i came from almost genetically a micro existence whereas alliance is the the rest that surrounds me. Maybe an awkward way to phrase it but alliance was more spatial. More vertically arranged i would say and and felions horizontally temporal. Oh yeah and that's interesting because when we talk about these alliances it's like you subscribe to a form of preset order. That has not yet changing not Doesn't pay attention to how it will generate so to speak and maybe took it more concrete. It reminds me when they say the socio is in script of mocking bodies like this Constant revolutions in controlling and Yeah how do how do we say. "You know that so now. You can take someone's obese. Yeah have them build muscle and you see a great protective effect in terms of insulin. So that's probably why resistance training had such a beneficial effect on the brain is because it's building muscle and so the person can remember muscles stores. James could burn up sugar. It's also insulin sensitive. So your body's can utilize it insulin. A little bit better. Yeah and so. It's just an amazing protective mechanism. Is it better than walking because everyone says walking is the number one exercise. So here's why. I like walking right. I like walking because it's easy. Inaccurate injected into everyday life could do it right so for example if if a client says hey. I want to be more active. I've never worked out before. I hate exercise. What's a great way to become active. I'll say okay. Why don't we attach activity to your normal daily routine so you eat breakfast lunch and dinner and they'll say yes. Okay because i want you to ten minute walk after breakfast lunch and dinner at thirty minutes a day in its attached to something that they already do and it just keeps consistent. It's easy. I don't have to change into workout clothes. Get on equipment. I can go do it so watching straight for that but if you compare it head to head to structured resistance training it pales in. Comparison doesn't even come close. It doesn't matter what parameters us. What whether it's fat loss joint mobility. Did you know that resistance. Training is a phenomenal way to improve flexibility. This is myth around resistance. Right makes you tie. As i say i never heard that before because look at the size of you would never think that you are very flexible. Okay so let me expire you up. Let me explain. Let me explain. So you have flexibility which is range of motion at regime. That's just like how far can i take my foot to my head mass. Then you have. What's called functional flexibility. Which means i have this range of motion. But do i have strength and control within that range so to give you an example like a squad right but let me. I'll give you an example. I have a baby. We have a five and a half month old at home right. He's very flexible. I could take his legs and put up his head. He can do the splits but unstable if i put load on them or how to try to do something positions. He probably dislocate one of his joy. In fact hypermobility. Some people have that..

"And i want you to really honor yourself and what your needs are and make feeling good fulltime job. I know you think you have a full-time job. Is your career. But really your job is to be a human. Your job human should be to feel good as much as possible because we know life is hard we know life is not always going to be you know rainbows and sunshine definitely not so when you are feeling good enjoy that and when you're not feeling good how can you try to reset the balance point and get back to the feeling good right so i really want you to start thinking about feeling good as your job. That is your job as a human being is to feel good about yourself is to continue to heal from everything that has happened to you and that is your own personal journey. I don't want you to compare yourself to anybody else because we're all in different mental health and wealth journeys. I know as you can see from all of the podcast interviews. We've had on the show. I've had people you know who have declared. Bankruptcy have been deep in debt and people who are very wealthy and financially independent and all of them are dealing with so many different issues. And i think it's important to acknowledge that nobody comes out of life unscathed so anybody that you're admiring right now thinking. I wish i had their life like they have this out of the other. They're dealing with some other stuff that you probably don't want. Just everyone has their different pile of craft were dealing with so just acknowledged that and i hope you have enjoyed the show. I really appreciate all of my listeners. "People everybody from real estate construction lawyers bankers. We have a ton of different. New members is not kind of what it used to be. I think that's An age old idea. That only petroleum-based people. I wish there were more oil and gas people like yourself there. You should be there. That's what i was gonna say. I mean i. I've been there a few times in a feels like a lot of them are lawyers of bankers people that i'm just like you know people i've dealt with like every time we go in the petroleum club you got us a highlight twenty people you to your table but it's It's i've never seen enough oil and gas guys there which it sounds like you james. Try it that's awesome man. Yeah and so. That's what i saw that as a problem but something that i wanted to change i think being a part of a member or member of a club just like you are that he's houston Puts you around different types of people and the club itself is downtown. Which can be a problem for some downtown houston like island or people downtown. People that live near downtown. I mean it's a steel when it comes to price and once you get the bar is what most people like seeing smoke. Cigars in their Not only that. The reciprocal memberships so the memberships. You have with other clubs especially when you travel. It's probably my favorite as well as just my favorite place to work your set up at the bar. You can work all day. Most of my meetings. I host the petroleum club. So it's easier for me. As entrepreneurial gas to sit there have coffee. Have some cocktails have lunged at bar do my emails phone calls and then i can how. That's how office how much it costs which we used to have my partner used have Office downtown and it's expensive. If you don't know it is so just working out. Trillion club just makes perfect sense. So i guess how does how has the petroleum club been affected by. Cova did in the past. Let's say you know year and a half now and you know i. I assume you know the oil and gas industry in general were kind of the. I don't wanna call us for a little bit calls. Ignorant to the fact that kids around because But in general how is it affected business. How are people still coming in or is it kind of back to normal now or is it. You know. I'll say this everything's an opportunity. That's how i see everything i think. Leadership trump club sees that as well. And that's all we've been able to capitalize on covenant Turn into a good thing Of course you know membership people drop a lot. Would we have one hundred and sixty thousand house in the greater houston area for oil and gas..

"And how to create what you desire to chief predictable results and create a content life wherever you are and tear your host kathy tate and daisy pop and hello everybody and welcome to another episode of bold and blunt mindset evolution. I'm your host from dan on that. Cassie tight to bode warrior and wish me as a wise is at hurst from florida ks. Hi daisy hi. Cathy of my different and podcast partner. It's so good to see you. Good to hear you and i'm so excited to record another episode and i'm sitting on pins and needles so often when we record because you're going to throw topic at me and that's okay i am daisy and i've got to g c one for six quake. Oh juicy juicy. Yes very interesting especially for me. Because i've spent most of my life trying to figure out how men work and haven't answer. I talk about it. Let's talk about the differences between men and women and the brian spang wide. Different behaviors been quite different. Well i would not even say that. This is juicy. I would say this is huge. I think this is quite a challenge to fit into one episode. I do believe this is a one week workshop boot camp somewhere but i will do my best and well okay fine so you were trying to figure out how men work. So what were you interested in about. Or what did you ask yourself as a single lady is. I think going into dating armed with as much information as possible is a smart move out. Okay well before you start getting into the dating or into that scene of dating. I highly suggest but you already did that but really get familiar with the formula for finding true love because that really prevents from heartaches and headaches and stomach pain and oh i can't take it anymore. I can't stomach it. Physically biologically truly so that is one thing but then knowing more about the other gender i think is a very smart thing to inquire because the more we know the easier it becomes to maybe build bridges. But let me tell you something that might shock you. Men and women actually are incompatible down. Now i shocked you. I knew it. She's got me speechless. I can't say i'm shocked because suit will explain a lot. I think that there are things that we can learn to enable a better compatibility that rush yes men and women are little bit like if p c and two macintosh. They're just not compatible but they've means also that we consciously can build connection which is not easy. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying it's worthwhile and when we can see that there are aspects of. Pc can do much better than a mac. And then there are other aspects that men do better. And let's say the two would appreciate one another's aspects and maybe we could then start realizing that we perceive reality differently than it becomes possible to exchange how we perceive the world and share these perceptions and then we can build bridges so understanding can.
