California Bill Targets Fast-Paced Working Conditions at Warehouses

"Lawmakers are weighing the first legislation of its kind. Which could give warehouse workers new power to fight speed quotas. Npr's alina seljuk reports. Hurry hurry hurry send you about. Eta says that's how it felt when she worked at an amazon warehouse in southern california. All you see people bending down scanning every individual items getting to screening individual items scanning to wayne it out having to run to the other side put it in the conveyor and start over again. She rotated through several jobs for ten hours a day. she would bend twist reach scan. Unwrap re wrap hoping to hit two hundred items. Our i rarely ever saw anyone to use the restroom or less you know. They talked to some morley. Do mind scanning this item like every three minutes just so might time off. Task doesn't accumulate cover for time off. Task is carefully watched by amazon. The company says it's to make sure all technology is in working order but also to identify underperforming workers too much time off task over time and the algorithm can flag you as a slacker and get you fired some workers leg bharata who is now an organizer with a warehouse. Workers resource center have argued that the pace of work is unhealthy unsustainable. That's what prompted new legislation by california assemblywoman laurenti gonzalez were absolutely targeting. The practices of amazon that are being picked up quite frankly by other retailers the legislation. Ab seven one is a rare bill to specifically target large warehouses. It's complex but has two key themes the main one says productivity quotas cannot come at the expense of health and safety. If they do the bill would give workers more legal power to fight them. The second is transparency giving workers the representatives and government officials more access to detailed records of quotas and workers actual rates. What we know is that amazon workers get hurt. Twelve times as often as other warehouse

"It's about control with the virus. Because if the gaza salt left was really serious squaring away right this virus from china. What would they be doing. Ab locking that border down so fast head would spin that border. Be tighter than a dixie hat band. They will you you. You couldn't get a burp through that border if they were truly concerned about that if that was their motive if that was their agenda right if they're really going today we're going to wake up. We're gonna shut down that virus boom close border. But they're not. They're not and now as i said stand by. The wheels are falling off the godless alt-left. They've got no exit strategy.

What Should Your Teens Be Eating to Fuel Them Through the Day?

"Knowing what you know right now with your personal experience. Your clinical experience. What would you suggest that teens eat. So they would get the nutrients that they need in their butter body and brain. Are you recommending catch sandwiches. No no never sure. No ketchup sandwiches today. After when i sit down with a team today. I think about what i would suggest to my younger self. I would suggest that the unlike hard boiled eggs topped with mashed avocado and maybe some red pepper flakes sprinkled on top to start the day off on the right foot. Cutoff deviled egg. That you're talking about. I do not like mayo. So but a lot of people do a lot of people do for the. I've maybe it would be my lazy version of a day because i don't even mix the egg yolk with the avocado. I just put some avocado on top of the you know at my house. I was hosts thanksgiving so when all the teenagers and kids come. And i have this huge platter of deviled eggs and two. They're all gone by the end of the day. They are popular very popular but yours is an avocado league. Yeah it's kind of like avocado toast. Which is pretty popular with some some teens today. But it's just that the egg with the avocado and maybe a sprinkle of some red pepper flakes or everything but the bagel. Yes that's really tasty and a lot of times also just you know if it does fit in. The budget should choose those organic eggs from pastured chickens because the dha that fatty acid that our brain needs are higher in the eggs from the pasture chickens. Just because of what the chickens eat. I would also suggest adding a half. A cop of roasted sweet potatoes made with avocado oil. And then have aside of sliced cucumbers strawberries. Ab a couple of tablespoons of pumpkin seeds. Gotta love those nuts and seeds. It's overall a quick easy to put together thing that you can have preps the night before and just grabbing. Go on your way out the door. It's free about its sugar. Gluten free and full of important key

What is Muscle Separation?

"Exactly is muscle separation and how it can happen. Hey you can tell you it okay. So the muscles we're talking about the six pack muscles in your the front of utah me so otherwise cold your abdominal rectus muscles and for people that have done a lot of ab- training and bodybuilding. They look like six pack so everybody has them mice people you just can't say them Generally and women that have had pregnancy. What happens is because the baby and the expanding uterus is on the inside of those muscles that the tissue actually between them so It's called fisher And it's a reasonably strong in normal times layer of tissue that is Around the outside in between those muscles and what happens with the expanding baby. Is that the That tissue can get stretched and then once the baby has been delivered. Everything kind of tries to go back to where it came from but often it tissue if it's been overstretched and again it's there but of that analogy about the elastic band. That comes to a point where it's elastic and then it stops being able to stretch anymore and doesn't return back to the original position and so it's very very variable between women so Sometimes if they had one pregnancy is not so much of a gap between them the muscles or not so much of a stretch but multiple pregnancies twin pregnancies lodge babies The more times you have pregnancy the more likelihood is going to be a stretch between Those muscles

Online Poker vs. Live Poker: Why You Should Strike a Balance

"Ultimately for the listener having a balance of playing some online and some life is just really priceless. Because you play a lot more hands on line you learn a lot faster and you know if you're using it as a learning tool you don't even have to play like super big right like you can play smaller and still improve your fundamentals as poker player. That's a really big one. Actually and it was kind of funny for me as i ended up focusing on. Mtv ts later on during the pandemic and realizing like okay. When i'm actually doing this other grind like not only do i not have to play that big for the purposes of improvement or you know sort of dot kind of motive thinking but like at the level of volume. I was playing like i didn't eat. Ab i of an average i into like more than fifty dollars to like have really big swings in like a day or in a week and so it was. It's it's can be kinda deceptive to where like you're not playing that big but suddenly you're playing like for ward eight t simultaneously and it's like okay the like true stakes of what i'm doing right now in terms of like the volatility. If you were to compare it to like one tabling is like you know four to six times more so Yeah i think there's so much value to begin from it. And i always been somebody who bounced back and forth between online and live these like brief stints where i focus pretty much exclusively on online poker Have always been. I've always been really valuable. And i've always represented like the biggest sport in my game whereas the times live. Maybe they represented lake the largest monetary gain. But where i maybe i in stagnated hard. Didn't like leap forward ever In terms of like fundamental than theory. You know i could improve other areas for sure. Like social You know seeking out additional edges like this kind of stuff matters in life poker and it doesn't really exist that much in online but at the same time those things don't further your ability to be games long-term in the same way that having solid fundamentals does having a really good grasp of theory does mean my co-host for tactical tuesday jon has been playing online poker really for the first time in his poker career since the pandemic believe it was like he started coaching with me. An august playing hundred no limit and by january. He's playing one k no limit and like ripped off a fifty k. Win in january and he was recently vaccinated and going back to the live poker streets because that was like where he came from and like he had just started. Shot taking it like live five ten and he's like asking me questions about like you know ten twenty uncapped games and like what are the expected swings. And i'm like dude like it's not as swiggy as you think it is even like ten twenty game you know like you're going to win or lose probably three buy ins on average on a day. It's rare to like swing ten brian's in either direction like very very rare like on two hands. I can count the number of times that. I've swung ten plus by and alive booker session. So like basically you're going to get in there and you're gonna realize like even at ten twenty six had never played before is much smaller than and playing one k. l. four tables at the same time against you know effectively much better

How Pro Surfer Tyler Wright Made Her Own Waves

"Elissa the story of australian surfer tyler. Right has so many layers to it but kirch seemed to come to a head at a surf contest called tweet heads in australia back. In september of twenty twenty. What happened there so to set stage a little bit you know. This was the first surf contest since the start of the pandemic olisa roenick's covered surfing and action sports extensively including the past decade of tyler rights. Career i was called tweed pro in australia. The best surfers in the world are there. We hadn't seen them compete in a really long time and tyler also hadn't been in competition in years. The horn blows for heat and her competitors run out of water and tyler standstill. She takes a knee and brush her fist into the air as the cameras. Pull back on the bottom of her sir fort. She'd written in large block. Black letters lock lives matter was literally the night before. I kinda penn soda on my surfboards. To make sure the spacing was ride and old all fit and discuss. I've never done anything like this full. I am not very odd. See your side. You know like very strategically like pencil. Little ab tyler is a white girl from australia. "So i think a lot of people don't think of it that way. That's kind of the overarching mindset. I would say that should be a shift for people where it's don't think about. Oh my gosh. I know everything there is no about myself. Where do i begin. Its think about the kind of person that you want to attract well. Ab and she said what what would be interested in hearing about you. What are the kinds of topics. You'd wanna talk to them about. Because one a mistake i see is people just pick prompts. You know a lot of the dating apps have prompt like Acute bed and they just picked prompts. Just answer the question honestly. I'm not saying people shouldn't be honest. But i think they should think about the questions that they're picking and think about strategically the answers of their choosing because a lot of a lot of apps question like what's your biggest fear and people will say bugs and it's like well. Most people are scared of bugs. And do you wanna talk about bugs with your potential d. I don't think so so. That's kind of wasted real estate on your profile is so. I don't wanna tell people not to be honest. It's just really about being strategically honest and figuring out. What are the prompts. That are going to be answers. That are gonna generate conversations. That i want to have with somebody got interested in and the kind of person i'm interested in will think are interesting and make conversation with me about So that's i don't know if that's one tip or more than three to help because a similar clinical rotation. I've had with friends before because like safety. Take me my best friend would probably looking for something quite in terms of the types of guys we like and are interested in the lifestyle on commitments of those guys. "Richard you're just back from brazil. What have you been doing. I've been down there. Pre producing for an immersive video at work have been making in collaboration with the composer. Now i also on my own going soto and making Multispectral maps of sites of environmental crimes. So tell us about. These photographs have begun to appear. There's a show at jack. Shane men and nowadays this show just about to open in bologna which is actually a sort of survey show. But it has these works. Tell us about the climate change thing. Yes. so the. The maps are ab- basically became fascinated with the the problem of representing climate change and and the processes of deforestation that the amazons undergoing all around. It's everywhere the skate of enormous. And i found that. Very hard to articulate to communicate. And that's my job. As as an artist. I need to find a way to do that. And hopefully an adequate way to do that. And it's bloody hard and that's something all storytellers all of us not just ours but photographers writers journalists. We all struggle to retail that inadequate way. And that's because the prices are bigger than the human figure and a kind of exists outside the limits of human language and human perception and so that fascinated me sort of catalyzed. A whole con concerned concept for me. But eventually i discovered was supposed. Just how could you not discover the scientists who are who are telling us all this data about the scale and velocity of deforestation in the amazon. And what that means. And how that's unfolding. This is all data that's been that's been gleaned through. Gps mapping

Pittsburgh Attorney Offers Apology After Client Mistook Aaron Donald for Attacker

"Week on Wednesday of this week, and attorney filed a criminal complaint against rans past Russia. Aaron Donald's allegedly Donald and others assaulted his 26 year old client at an after hours club last weekend. The dude was pretty beaten up. He needed 16 stitches suffered a broken orbital bone that's around your eye, a broken nose, a concussion and a sprain. Or broken arm. But thank goodness for modern technology because a lawyer representing Donald says there is video evidence refuting that claim here is Donald Attorney Casey White. The whole time, Mr Donald Aaron is being restrained. So as this fight or escalation, want call what everyone called continues. Aaron then breaks free from their strengths. And this is all on video. So I'm not making this up. He then goes to the pyre where this melee is taking place. And he starts tearing people off protecting Mr Sprigs. He actually saved Mr Sprigs from further injury. Mr. Sprague should write a thank you card to Aaron Donald for saving him Because that incident or Mr Springs is getting injured. That likely would have kept going for a least a few more seconds. Maybe a couple of minutes, But Aaron Donald saved Mr Springs. NFL nation reporter Lindsay Theory spoke to white about where the process stands. White told me this morning that a Pittsburgh police detective assented email that stated thus far there is no evidence from the video surveillance that shows Donald assaulting the victim Now. White also told me that given the evidence, which includes statements from at least five eye witnesses But he anticipates at the Pittsburgh police and district attorney will not charge Donald. As for Donald current mindset. White told me that Donald's frustrated that this incident took place and how it is since played out in the media, but adds that Donald remains confident his character and is eager to resolve the situation. The attorney representing the accuser, AB. Donald is now offering an apology on behalf of his client who said that he mistook his

How To Give Yourself a Spa-Worthy Facial At Home

"Obviously talking about at home. Facials today setting. The ambiance is so important light a candle. You've got that going already. So let's start with that first step. Is there anything spa inspired. You'd recommend to your clients to recreate like a facial worthy cleansing experience versus. You know just a regular daily cleansing that we might already be doing. Yeah definitely and think that the first thing that you need to do is we always say that you know great. Skin starts with clean skin. I mean it's like the april of every good skincare routine. And you really want to start out with something super gentle. I feel like you know for me whether i'm working from home. Or whether i'm putting into the s which. I'm doing a little bit of both these as as i mentioned a lot of of your listeners. Or doing his bell. i'm. I'm always in a hurry looking for something that's really quick and ab multi-tasking. But for something a little bit more luxurious. I might recommend that you start with a makeup remover or cleanser. That is definitely gentle. Make sure it doesn't have any less so no sodium salt a it's Which could be irritating to the skin. And then just decide which texture that you want to pamper yourself. if you bubbles use a gentle foaming at type cleanser. If you like you know essential oils us using oil cleanser but really just be out which texture you like west and i would say to give yourself like that experience beaks your one that it has a lot of sense reality in. I think that's one of the things we re when we walk into a spots like right away. There's this small. I those relaxing aroma therapeutic sense. Yes so so. Make sure that the cleansing and your tony routine that you're using a cleanser that's just elite gentle on your

"They're going to be doing that more. So on this season in any other living underground bunker no windows can be good. It's going to be good. I was hoping the common areas of the house would be less cool. I was I was hoping it would all be like it'd be a prison but it's the I also really like a golden eye level. You know facility or something like that. Yeah a regarding a couple things that happened on the first episode. If you haven't seen it skip ahead a little bit. The two biggest things aside from being overall good episode the Big Twist Ending Wherein TJ revealed that to win the season. You have to win an elimination essentially which. I'm kind of surprised they haven't done that. I love it. Love it because you're going to see you have to see. We've went years without seeing some of our favorite people get into a one on one head to head athletic competition with someone else and now. Who's an old veteran bananas? Even you're going to see them go head to head and they're going to have to want to go in in win instead. Coast everyone trying to coast the that was pretty much. The Game Plan for years was tried to stay out of elimination. But now you have to go in it will. It's almost you know. At some point. People are going to get lopped off. Maybe a couple through as the and correct me if I'm wrong there ways. That don't include. The elimination sometimes have competition. Where like finish last year the challenges. Yeah so you. I don't like how the first couple of episodes of every season early rookies consul being thrown in. Because I'm not attached to these people and it's just like you. We go again type of thing. But now it's going to be like you know the go and ask making. Yeah you have to go in going to be people volunteering to go in so I will be very interesting. What do you think about the bananas and West Alliance? Were you surprised by it? And do you think it's legit? I think it's very legit. And here's why I don't think they're rivalry the past few years has been. It's not a real rivalry. They went to Maury okay. That was a satire thing. It was fun. So these guys these two have been the face of the franchise for fifteen years now and I think they've both built a brand off hating each other win behind the scenes. They actually haven't fully hated each other like they. They understand for years so now they understand we can. We can run this show in terms of like the outside of the show advertisements and the buzz on twitter and all this by joining together. It's something I've been waiting for most of the time. Now's the time now that I'm perfect season for. I think they're going to have record number of people watching each week because of the situation that we're in With you know I feel. Tv in general is just going to go up but I'm excited for it. I like both of them. Bananas is my guy. He's number one that I root for obviously but west is. I always want to see him. Do good to people. Forget we had Laura. Study challenged close. Show like five years. I've I forget it. Constantly and that bananas listened to that interview and commented on his own for two week period involved in the world showers. Girotti are anyway. I was very excited when I was like. This is a no brainer because nobody getting stale and when you're watching it you know they don't really hate each other like I used to. But then they. Both are savvy rallied D. TV veterans. They understand how to make up storylines and stuff like that. Get more Airtime and this is a brilliant way to get own the airtime. I'm also glad that Kara in poly or not on the season core the by the end of last season I had soured on both them and I had kind of come around to the Jordan side. Jordan is obviously annoying and not someone I would be friends with unrealised but I I get the feeling. He's not sincere in his hatred for other people whereas Kara I think took it two straight recap. Watch the challenge. The ratings like you mentioned were up big victim I Highest in like ten years or something like that. Yeah so people were. It's they're pulling people who haven't seen in a while. If you haven't watched I used to watch every season in high school I haven't college. I've never never stopped. I've come back in recent years because you but I'm I'm here to tell the people who did stop in the last ten or fifteen years back in saint people and there's a lot of saint in the old and the New People you can get a coin to very quick easily easily card is that it then. What else I'd I added. Something this is this was from. I don't know. Have you been on twitter? Did you say you were off twitter? His has been. I've been mostly off twitter because it's mostly follow news organizations and that gives mega hair. I'm looking out for my grey hairs which are coming in and an alarming rate. So I'm staying on. Have you heard Graham? Beat battles no. I'm not sure at all. I'm intrigued. Have you heard about you? Haven't heard about them at all. What did you say people have been tweeting at us in particular former Listen Rim cast listener of the year. Stu well that's all right. I'm in you about this. Here's what's happening. Rim famous producers Singer songwriters are going are battling each other on instagram. In front of tens of thousands of people like eighty thousand. People are watching it live on instagram. Lives split screen. Where it's you know so for example this Saturday. It's t pain and little John In. Here's a here's the okay. Here's the gist of it. So it's like producers more than it's there's some systems yesterday they had the guy from one republic and it's too late to apologize. Yeah Big Fan Anyway. Scott Stories on there they did one with Timbale in verse. Swiss Beats Mannie fresh Mannie fresh for Scott Storch They're doing t pain legacy adverse littlejohn on Saturday. The biggest packet. No it's I think timberline started it and they did something like this. Live awhile ago but what they do is. They're playing music. That they either wrote the lyrics for the songs or they made the beats or whatever and they're battling each other so one person will play a song and it'll start and then another in the play. It'll be twenty songs each and it'll be each song. The one person will play a song than the next person will play a song. Whoever wins that ground of the fight so who decides who wins just the people. Eight thousand people are going you know. They're Latinos the fan. A lot of people watching a ton of people watching fan reaction so like for example one republic guy. Yesterday was in a battle with another dude and he finished with beyond say Halo and it was the knockout punch guy. So so you're seeing stuff like that. They're you know they're having to put number one. You don't realize how many of these songs people are put out like the people that the least viewed one was the one yesterday which was the one Republican. I can't we don't even know his name. Yeah I you'd know it if I can't if I looked it up teddy teddy's something Ryan header. Yeah he the guy. Yeah I'm trying to figure out who he was definitely him. But I can't remember Benny Blanco. Whose AT JUST SOME DUDE. That has forty hits. I mean we're talking. These people have so many hits and it's it's basically a combination of like a chess match trying to you know win. Am I going to put my biggest hits to knock knock? That's a very interesting but you also like one person started on us with with the hands up. What's that saw GOB hands up hands? Go up you know that jam talking. Yeah what's that song called? I frankly don't know worth. A billion socks is absolute jam and he laid it in the first one and it was a knockout. All I do is win. Dj Can do is when TJ calendar. One of the guys. He was the producer songwriter for that and he laid him out in the first blow. Knock knock out punch right. There is did he lose the rest of them. No because everyone's thinking about that knock out earlier. It's like a chessmaster. Boxing match a live concert. Because they're just you know riffing they're talking shit to each other it's awesome. It is cost them. I I how do who decides who wins who. I know you said the plan vote ran. There's no actual vote on instagram. Live is there no? It's not just it's just like everyone knows header knocked out. Benny Blanco ever knows that. Ram It's not a thing you don't need to worry about your thinking much into it. Everybody knows does he win next round. That's my fun. We're fast and loose. It's just we're trying to figure out. People are trying to get all sorts of wild names matchmaker. Yeah he's the him in. Swiss beets are the ones who originally did it and now they're trying to figure out you know they're trying to get people to do it. People are talking about like Justin timberlake getting on there with US or they're talking dream matches out here. We got huge names. There's GonNa be there's GonNa be two hundred thousand people watching that bet. That's not in the Biz that many on instagram streams is insanity. That's the biggest streams in the world. That's and that's just that's like their peak numbers like dropping. There's millions of people that are watching the throughout because we're talking in hour long competition in it's always at eight hundred thousand so easily. A million people are tuning in How crazy I am watching new girl and doing what you're doing but Saturday night. T pain on one of its just on their INSTAGRAM's era already. You've ever seen it and whatever it's going to be good it's GonNa be good okay. I'm sold but that reminds me Saturday. Night Fricken Wrestlemainia is not it is. Yes you have a quick take on Wrestlemainia. It's a two night event this year with no fan fan since I mean I don't. It's going to be like six hours. I've I've heard three hours each night. They've never done two nights like this. There's a lot of big names Breslin. It's the biggest show of the year. I'M SKEPTICAL. There's no fans it hasn't gone great. In my opinion they've done other like the lead up and smack downs with Dave leaned on showing past pay per views during raw. Like they'll have the though this play. Well it's three hours of RAW. They see it's hard to do. It doesn't that that doesn't bode well for event the year being in the same scenario that definitely does not. I am skeptical. I'm going to definitely watch. I just don't know how you get the big feel of a wrestlemainia without huge stadium in the people and the buzz that usually it's just not as fun. You know you almost. Obviously we're desperate for live events but this is one ram almost like I feel like I wish they almost wouldn't do it because it's going to be so much worse than the regular anyway. All right. Well there's a ton of other stuff we could talk about but your kids are up from their naps now and Chitter chatter and you've got to go take care of them make sure given the once-over for the hair. The hair go about your day. That was on a different episode. We didn't mention that on this episode. People have no idea where referencing. You just can't listen to the rose cast.

"Doc It's a stumbled. He said it's funny. I didn't like that either. We got the same bottom three Number five Black Panther. WHOA starting to line up here Black Panther got a two for entertainment entertainment but the story kind held the down from eight. Remember four Black Klansman number three Roma Dang. Yeah that kind of surprises me. You didn't really even live entertainment on my entertainment list. I put second to last and it still was up there. It's still was up there actually. First or second and acting I and originality in fourth and story expected forget its third their best movie imagining attention. Yeah if I paid attention attention. The WHO knows there to a stunning number two rim a star is born stunning listen. I didn't expect this to happen when I made the list. That's the thing about my rating scale. I don't know who's going to come out on. My favorite favorite movie was a star is born but who I think is the best picture. It's not that Green Bay it's crazy. Yeah wow how okay. Who Do you think is going to win the best picture? I I read all the stuff so I knew the favorites are I have. I don't know I thought I would have thought before war. I I looked so I read a I read a thing online Right before about stars born and apparently it's not even it's it's got no chance sat accurate. I think it's probably the second or third likeliest but it's lost a lot of momentum. Yeah I would have thought that was going to be the winner but now now it sounds like no it sounds like Roma is the likeliest driller. Okay like I don't think it's the best but I would like black Klansman to win. I think that's how how you get like does not know if it has a chance. I think that's how you if you want your Oscars to be remembered you pick a movie that is like really in line with the Times the era and then people remember like Black Klansman won best picture. Spike Lee gave a speech. He wasn't nominated for do the right thing in which people have been talking about for thirty years basically. I think it'd be interesting that when I think Rome is going to win now okay. Quick picks best actor Christian Bale L. Bradley Cooper Rami Malik Vigo Mortenson Willem Defoe is also up. But we didn't see that Mutola's AKASA. Yeah Who's your peg. Is that who we actually was played. Some said like you didn't know random person fake if you've been no I haven't seen a movie. I don't think so I would give it to remmy Bradley Cooper right behind him I would. I would give it to Christian Bale. I think he's probably going to win. But if it's such a dog shit movie why would you give him his. It's here's here's the cavs portrayal. It was perfect. Here's the caveat. He when he accepts the award he needs to praise the makeup team. Whoever helped to make him look serves serves as much credit as he does absolutely actress Ulitsa a pre AP Areso from Roma Lady Gaga a star? Ars Born Olivia Colman the favourite those of the three movies. You've seen I've seen these two movies Glenn close in the wife and Melissa McCarthy and can can you ever forgive me. Is that Melissa McCarthy movie good it's fine okay it's fine. It's pretty good. I've heard Jesus scumbag. Her character is a scumbag. But it's one of those ones. It's really kind of root for the SCUMBAG I'll tell you Glenn close's of virtual lock to win the she. Yeah and the wife deservedly so or I I think deservedly so okay especially compared to the other nominees here and the I will say that. The wife is a dumpster fire of a movie. In my opinion. That's a lifetime original quality movie. She is incredible and incredible. I would give it to Gaga honestly can't get over how stupid you got to win anything because there's not enough time in the show for her to give a speech that Gaga gives. You're going to be outrageous and I like Gaga uh-huh actor in a supporting role Marshall Alma her Chale Abbey Adam driver. They all deserve to be recognized. Except for Bush Adam driver Russian clansman same Elliott and a star is born Sam Rockwell vice and Richard E grant in Kenya. Ever forgive me which again you haven't seen. He's he's the favourite right now ahead of marsh lobby. Wow so what would your pick be Mahershala. Okay yeah I probably would to the other people all in the movies that I've seen don't even have big roles even Bush isn't that big of a role in that movie. I don't really understand. Marcia is the movie. It's him and another guy. Yup I agree the Richard E. Grand Canyon. Forgive me fantastic. Won't be mad at all if he wins they do this with older people. Sometimes yeah a key marsh. Ali is going to win a boatload of awards since the rest of his career even though he's a very laid linearly hasn't he. Yeah he has one of these. He came out of nowhere like thirty seven. Basically I still think he's GonNa he's GonNa win a lot of stuff. He's getting a lot of good roles he's GonNa want to. This isn't for Richard e Graham basically and I think he's GonNa get it actress in a supporting role. Amy Adams in Vice Marina de top in Roma who is the mother mother. Emily squeegee King and if Beale street could talk which I haven't seen Rachel vice in the favourite and Emma stone in the favorite. Who Do you got Abie I I would give it to the mother in Roma in Rome? Interesting okay I don't know who the favourite is. I'm sorry. What was your name again Marina del Rey? Todd Todd Pick Spanish guy and I can't say to era okay yet to be rat ta the IRA arena data bureau. I give it to her. I think there's a concern that Emma Stone Rachel ice might split the boats here. So we'll see what happens opens their. I don't know who goes to Emma Stone Emma Stone. Yeah Okay quick. My personal power rankings for actors number five Timothy Shalam. You're talking about not anything to do with these movies. Yes just top living actors. TV or movies. Yes Stephen Stephen Covey's Timothy Shalam. Why take into account their TB roles shirk okay number five Timothy Shell may some might say a tumble from the top right? I would've put him last year. He was in a movie called beautiful boy this year. was not a fan and I was not a fan so I love here. We're just Gaza last year. Because he's got the credibility and I think he was something else. I saw two. He was pretty good in the movie. The movie stunk. I think it was a misstep for him. Next up. Amy Adams number four this is actor and actresses ABC. Why not I didn't? I is in no way to solve them like five. There were worthy big. Amy Adams guys. Everyone knows that huge huge number. Three Claire Foy okay. Okay number. Two Adam driver not just for Black Klansman by. I think he's really good in Star Wars. He's really good in this movie called. How Patterson Adam drivers the man well number one Marshal Ali Alex the best you Michael Beat as a make your list because you didn't see creed to to why folks that is not the reason you know spoiler alert I have a pretty good the idea of how creed choosing to go to be a good movie? I don't think I'm be shocked by anything that occurs can wait. But yeah it's like if I were to if I were to have movie posters posters up around here on a shame I haven't seen pre two. It's truly it kills me other movies worth seeing. I don't know how many other movies as you saw. So if you haven't got one wreck in I'm spend to see it on the list. GIMME eight grade. Eighth grade was that was a really good well done movie and it was super entertaining. I agree I thought the story left a little bit to be desired. But it's also it's a movie for adults but eighth graders should be able to see that movie yet it. It shouldn't be too crazy. I like dates ally. I thought it was funny. Pretty good direct. joyal debut for Bo Bo. Burnham US our age. Here's here's movies. The I think should have been gone more. Nominations or nominations at all I reformed with Ethan Hawke increased and small town struggling with his fate also cedric the entertainer in that movie. Oh really good in them of. Mika first reformed controversial movie controversial. I man about Neil Armstrong with Claire. Foy and Ryan Gosling okay. You know what I saw saw that movie two or anything. It's not. I just realized I watched that because I take picture and forgotten movies totally forgotten. It's up for like sound mixing. That movie should've been up for the accidents. This that's not best picture you don't think it is. I loved it theaters. I think the name. I think it's a bad name. I think if it were named Armstrong number one it gives you a better idea of what it's about because there's not about going to the moon necessarily he'll they go to move and spoiler compound Neil Armstrong. The name hurting forgot. I watched that movie because I was anticipating being a best picture. I completely forgot. I told you to watch this. I gotTa See I. I like that a lot and watch it again. Almost added Ryan Gosling to my list. A huge gosling doc. Crazy Rich Asians maybe not a best picture nom. Hey that's the ROM com of the moment for sure. That's the Best Rom Com Mike and Remember. It's very memory. Good and very watchable. Absolutely a quiet place was my number number two theater experience of the year. What's that one? You didn't see a quiet place. I don't think so. Is that John. Krasinski is as named John Kuczynski Brzezinski and his wife. Whose name escapes me? which kills me? God what is her name. She super famous emily. Emily was God. That's embarrassed humiliated their kids the the the whole premise of the movie is you can't make any noise. Otherwise blasters answers for secret I would very much recommend it. It's it's it's a scary movie but it's not like a not that scary. It's good when you're in a theater are and it's dead silent and you have to be dead silent the monster. It's good it's good a couple more. The writer is about a guy who who is a bull rider any like doug gets a brain injury interesting part of that movie the real guy and all his friends and family play the P play their themselves in the movie and it's not that bad terms of act. Wow really you are never really here with Joaquin. Phoenix Love Simon. Also a good movie. Leave no trace our recommend that when I think that might be on Hulu or something I love dogs Zahn. Hbo Animated Wes Anderson Movie. He also if you WANNA get into problematic depictions of that. You can do that but it was pretty good movie Jumanji. Ab Jonah's hilarious. Okay when I can Kevin the art who is good. I have great on here. Totally little predictable. Charlie's their own Zenit annihilation. I need to rewatch senile ation. I didn't love it on porn. I watch but smart people web it so that makes me want to be one of them. Sabrina movies batteries. The wife stunk. Okay wife stunk. Doha's link a wrinkle in time was a big disappointment. I don't know if you read the book I didn't kids rink longtime big disappointment and wasn't a fan of beautiful boy movies. "Obviously Rimini we're gonna like this move. It'd be all. Next up and last of the best picture nominees. Vice directed by Adam McKay written by Adam McKay, he was the brain behind the big short. Good comedy type stuff vice has stars Christian bale as Dick Cheney Amy Adams as his wife Steve corral, Donald Rumsfeld Sam Rockwell as George W Bush tower Perry makes an appearance as Colin Powell lot nominations for vice best director this actor for curtian bail supporting actor for Sam Rockwell, supporting actress, Ramey Adams, screenplay, film, editing makeup and hairstyling AB. What did you think was good about vice it was just a fun movie? It kinda feel to me of what's that Leonardo DiCaprio movie wolf of all street. Okay. Kinda had that feel to me that type of move the where it took a real story in kinda it was almost like a parody of it was in real they were all real events, Christian bale. One of my favorites. I thought he did really good. And he transforms almost. Better than anybody jaw dropping makeup job. You can't Hewlett can't tell it all that. It's him. Indistinguishable. Could put Dick Cheney in the movie, and you wouldn't know. Legitimately the best. If you compare it last year. Gary Oldman darkest hour. And that blows it out of the water his crazy how much she looks like anything else. You liked about this movie? Those fast paced kept moving a lot of stuff in it. Let's go to digest. Okay. You one I got a feeling rim. Didn't like this movie at all Christian bale, incredible performance. That's the good the bad. Just about everyone else. I thought stunk Amy Adams, Amy Adams was fine. I well. Well, I'm a huge Amy Adams a guy checkout sharp objects if for her alone, the same Rockwell Bush was like an average Saturday Night Live impression I'd say it was way worse that was. It was a bad rail med for supporting actor. Yeah. Steve Carell did not remind me of Donald Rumsfeld at all. Now, these things you'd think oh, that's fine. Like, what was the story? Like, what was everything else about movie when you have Christian bale who's literally reincarnation of Dick Cheney? You can't have you can't Saran with comic book character, impressions people that don't they didn't do a good job of even having them. Look like, why didn't you put the makeup on Bush exactly Bush character looked like trash he didn't anything like George Bush exactly that he was so gaunt compared to the real George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld was like the short like scrawny? It's like this isn't he was like an old guy with, you know, lots hanging skin going on this. It's weird that just Dick Cheney was identical. And everyone else was like amateurish all said report, I thought stylistically AB. This thing was all over the place. Agreed the narrator storyline, and it's a storyline that there's a narrator on. Unnecessary. There was some unnecessary time. Jumps. There was one part where they were like back in his youth. And then it jumped him being the vice president and he's sitting in a room like eating a Danish and jumps back to something else. And it's like what was the point of that? There's no reason for that. The there was some gimmicky parts, which I won't mention because they're kinda spoilers there were there was something in the middle. That was like, okay hilarious. So funny. And then there was something a few conversations that took place where the characters were talking saying things that they obviously didn't say in real life who was meant to be like some absurdist parody. And they it was like a device to make our point. But it was just over long. Like, we got it. We know that the whole thing is crazy, and it was more distracting than affective I thought, and then they superimpose some characters on real footage like the Heche mission accomplished thing, they put same Rockwell who already doesn't look like him onto that real footage. It looked like SNL. And I don't mean that in a good way like s a week. Kley show. This is a big budget movie four as Gump look better twenty five years ago. So got all those things that scratch distracting the Cheney character his motivation was unclear they never really they just kind of told the life and like some big events. But like why is he doing these things are all these people doing these things also full disclosure on the target audience for this movie, not a huge Dick Cheney George Bush fan. I should be going here. Like, yeah. You know, this for attention if movies, but it didn't tell us things. We didn't already know it didn't really explain what their motivation was behind really anything. And it didn't convince me that things would have been different with any other person in that role visa a lot of the things that occurred from this era. I think probably would have happened. Like, it wasn't just him. Pulling the strings I think a lot of things would have happened anyway with another person in this group. So I don't think while, you know, while the point is clear that wow, dick. Cheney was bigger deal than you know, people things most powerful vice president I think is what they're trying to powerful vice president which you know, again, we kinda new at the time. And really they just took a bunch of things that were supposed to be mad about which, you know, people were then in are now and just threw him at the screen, and we're like doesn't this make you mad this happen? And then like, yeah, I mean, we were alive, and they it felt like it wanted to be a documentary. But the only reason they made it a real movie was because they had this ace up their sleeve in terms of the makeup person for Dick Cheney to make Christian yelich makers documentary, which would have been more effective in my pain. That's my opinion of the David review. Slanting? I hated it. I hated this move. Ow. We'll give me the number four point eight four four. I hated it. I don't know why I gave it time. Any I thought it was. It was mildly entertaining. Like if this came on TBS, I might not turn it off. I might not I've never walked out of a movie I saw this yesterday. I never walked out of a movie. This is one of the few were I was like, I would I thought in my, and I never will walk out of a movie frankly of committed that time and money into the movie, but this is the one where I was like I wish I could walk out of here. Right. Enjoy the would love to leave. Maybe because it was a bad theater. The seat was I didn't think it was that bad. But I can't I'm not gonna argue any of the things you said, we'll tell you that the Bush. I mean, the Bush moons whole movie I would say like we all in. It's not that far enough in advance let earned the in the past. And it's like, I know exactly what. George Bush looks like. Lakeville around all the time. I know George Bush, and that ain't George Bush, and it's it's a cheap George Bush. It's a low rent George Bush for best supporting actor, and it's I think only been gauche. Yeah, told yeah. Same requ up for best supporting actor with Marshall Ali AB take to the streets. Wow. And I think it's only because he won for three billboards. So once you win the seal is broken, you're gonna get like grandfathered in what you don't deserve it. I think I like Sam Rockwell. I do Ted blush that bad bad movie. This is this is this is one of my least favorite movies of the ver. Okay. Well, I'm not I don't mince words, I'll play games with moving rankings. The worst part about it. Is it got this nomination? The reviews are shitty to like a lot of people this movie it got this nomination. So now Adam McKay instead of focusing his talents where he's good. He's going to make more movies like this. I can't remember who I was reading. But the big short worked because nobody knew how any of that stuff worked. So we needed it. Explain to us. And then we got angry because it's like, whoa. This is worse than I thought. Yeah. But vices just like weird. He knew all this stuff. Yeah. You didn't need to explain any of this. No one's angrier than they were before in the Bush waste of my time and the Bush ruined. Okay. Let's do final power rankings ABD have that setup. Yeah. Got it up organiz. Okay. I got my I wanna hear I've already given my numbers. It's all just give my now because it's no surprise vice the worst seven the favorite six Baheen rhapsody, those three movies out classifies. I basically don't didn't like those three Black Panther. Then green book, then black klansman a star is born number two Roman number one since those two movies are so different. I could be convinced the, you know, talked me on a different day, and I might perform over the other Ohka, let's hear yours AB. And explain the formula again formula is I have four categories that I write rate them on acting the story the originality of the movie in the entertainment. I rate them one through eight because there were eight movies in each of those categories. So. Each movie will have four scores you add those four scores up whichever is the lowest because one is the best is the winning total K number eight number eight the favorite. Can't argue K. Like, I said earlier it finished last in entertainment lasting originality in last in story. It was saved by the acting. Which was third on my list for what movie got the worst acting advice because overall casts? No, I did black Klansmen. There was there were any none of the acting was really bad. And in these I thought don't take your, and I think vice in my head the Christian bale performance raised it up a few slots the acting. There weren't really any bad ones. Seven number seven vice. Right above favorite number six beam rap city.

"Right anyway. I like long shots. And there's a lot of those in this movie Yes. I just enjoyed the movie. I can't totally articulate. Why but I like the bad is at its long and it's really slow and the barriers to enjoying? It are really really high. And if you if you're those getting away you're not gonna like anything else on this a lot of movies this year I've Noticed when going back through them Had really low budgets and this was the lowest of them. Oh interesting fifteen million. Most of that probably went to the recreation nation of quorums childhood home like that was he really faithfully recreated the house he grew up here. Just for example Black Panther was one point three five million billion no no one hundred and thirty five million probably know sorry to two hundred ten million okay Black Panther. I I think black lacked director along with maybe able to Vernay in a wrinkle in time to have one hundred plus million dollar budget with Ryan Kugler yet. The favourite was the favourite was also fifteen gene had a couple of low really. Yeah fifteen then. Black Panther two hundred was the highest. You another digits. Yeah nine point two I gave him my ranking meal after watching it now you know into a misty eyed. Wow big I like that credible I liked it but again I put my phone on a different room and didn't have in watch it on TV. I wonder if Black Panther made more than all these movies combined. I think it's probable. Yeah Okay Oh no because the next one is a star is born. Oh okay all of them except for stars born you combine it. I think Black Panther. Netflix did This is directed by Bradley Cooper Super This sensation of two thousand eighteen. You could say starring Bradley Cooper Lady Gaga Andrew Dice Clay. I think it's still probably Dave David Chapelle same Elliot. How much did this make? Four hundred twenty three by Pacers one point two billion. Yeah it's been out for a full year two. Yeah other nominations. The side from best picture picture. Best actor Bradley Cooper Best Actress Lady Gaga. You're telling me that Lady Gaga up for main gene actress and Marshall is up for supporting best supporting actor. Sam Elliott barely in it. Same Elliott but this is like a a lifetime achievement award adapted screenplay cinematography exam Elliott doled gruff guy with the mustache. He's been the visser in the movie. Yeah his brother are there. Even though he's in the same category as Mersal. Oliver Sean Win. Yeah he's he's on the movie for ten minutes. Are you the joke me all right. Let's not get mad here and this original song. There's never been a better more obvious shoe to that song once once a day if not more and it was like ten to twenty times a day right after I wash everybody who saw this opt on the soundtrack music media. I'll start with what I liked about the movie and then we'll go to you. This was probably my favorite theater experience of the year. Okay that sounds talk. And that's saying something the musical performances were awesome. They were awesome and the way they were shot onstage while it was never from the audience perspective. It wasn't really you can see people audience. It felt like you were on stage with them. uh-huh Fabulous Music Lady Gaga obviously nailed the music scene vocals. were out of this world rim. And she held her own. I I think is an actress. I think shield their own. I don't think I dropped it fabulous. But she held her own. The two storylines coming away out of this movie were how awesome Bradley Cooper is and how we all talk about like Justin timberlake being a sensation. Doing all these things acting and singing. I'd say Bradley Cooper's the top V close. He's way more talented than Justin Timberlake who I thought was previously the most down man alive. They're his performance that in there. They're performing warming shallow at the. I heard you talk about a month event that it was good. I I don't have like here's what I liked about the story or is it was awesome. It was just a really fun time at the movies Bradley Cooper as a Rockstar. Works so well and he does it so convincingly Vinson Lee and his voice is tremendous. Here's what's bad about the movie Bradley. Cooper's voice now talking it wasn't always perfect. It reminded me of Bruce Wayne in the new Batman. Surely it Kinda changed or like you know. In game of thrones little finger like changes accents. It wasn't always is perfect but it worked on his regular voice. It kind of fits like get was he. 'cause he's this old rocker at the end of his career kind. So it kind of fits that it wasn't a perfect voice. Okay I like it. I'm looking I'm I gotTA find criticize. You'd reach in. Here's the Eliud couple of things. Someone said it felt like playing career mode on Rockstar to K nineteen okay. That's exactly right. That's funny but hey there's a reason we play the career modes in Turkey. Fun Fun I hadn't seen in the original stand either. It's been remade like four or five times. I didn't know the twists necessarily or even if they're the same even so did feel mildly predictable. I wasn't shocked by anything I. It was one of those movies where I expected to cry. While I was watching it. And the waterworks just never came maybe that keeps it out of the top echelon okay and last thing. This is a common criticism. I don't even know if I agree with that. It didn't really you know the movie didn't really say anything. New Per Se no sin engaging story trappings of fame classic rise and fall but not a groundbreaking. Okay what do you got what. What do you got bad things about it? Anything you didn't like about stars born I loved it all rim. I'm not gonNA give you anything bad. Okay that's fine lines this movie three or four times since the watching it the only one I've seen more than once that was question again. Yeah Watch it tonight. If someone asked asked me you WanNa Watch starboard Halio stars board crazy. This movie's tremendous rim. Yes if we're just talking about my favorite favorite and that's not what my list is about. Okay just to be clear if you're just talking to my favorite of these movies it's a star board. It's entertaining in in the performance by Gaga and in Cooper incredible those who have an undeniable can just separated from her and many people are saying that I saw so heated the live performance. He showed up at one of her shows and they did a live performance of it in he was looking at it in the same way. I have something that you have something there between these two and it shines brightly off the screen. I don't advocate for adultery but I wanNA see rumor married anymore. It's interesting game. I do think absolutely I watched the award show. She is outrageously over the top in her praise for him and her love for him and he just Kinda like relax lady Gaga will hold up him. I saw this performance. He walked onstage in the way he was looking at her. My God I've never seen in someone look at someone like that. It looked like someone like as they're getting married looking at each other as the now pronounce your man and why that's always looking at her. Never seen anything like it anyway. Great movie great movie. If you haven't seen this what are you. Why are you even listening to us to see this? This is the kind of movie that if you're getting a new if you're investing in a new home theater and you want to get a bunch like action movies that look good on four K.. You also want a star is born because performances are so in your face ace in the music and the sound is so good that you want it you want it to enveloppe. Uab You want to know the number eight point point nine. That's hi that's pretty high while a little bit below Roma on my scale and if you weren't if you're talking strictly entertainment the best of these probably by far his realm is not necessarily like entertaining all-time Blackhawk working good time. Next up and last of the best picture nominees in one more thing rim. You WanNa talk about music movies. This one puts Bahamian rhapsody grave. Okay and believing rhapsody Belushi number one hits in real life. These are these so these are the songs in Stars Board are better than anything queen put out. Okay you WANNA take there. It is won't buy me disagreements. The best song ever heard it's really I mean it's not a joke. It's incredible incredible movie obviously remedy. We're going to like this movie if you Roy. Moore's next up and last of the best picture nominees vice directed by Adam McKay written by Adam. McKay he was the brain behind the big short good accommodate type stuff vice Has Stars Christian Bale. As Dick Cheney Amy Adams as his wife Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld Sam Rockwell as George W Bush Tyler Perry makes an appearance as Colin Powell. A lot of nominations for vice best director this actor for Christian Bale supporting actor for Sam Rockwell supporting supporting actress Ramey Adams screenplay film editing makeup and hairstyling. Ab What did you think was good about vice. It was just a fun movie. Veit Kinda the field to me of. What's Leonardo DiCaprio movie? Wolf of Wall Street okay. It kinda had that feel to me that type of movie where it took a real story and Kinda it was almost like a parody of real. There were all real events Christian Bale One of my favorites. I thought he did really good and he transforms almost better than anybody. jaw-dropping makeup job. You can't you can't tell it all that it's him indistinguishable could put Dick Cheney in the movie. And you wouldn't know legitimately the best if you compare it last year. Gary Oldman Oldman in darkest hour a team that blows out of the water. His crazy how much she looks like him. Anything else you liked about this movie. Those fast paste can't move in a lot of stuff in it. Let's go to digest. Okay you want it to be I one. I got a feeling rammed in like this movie at all Christian Bale incredible performance. That's the good the bad just about everyone else. I thought stunk DONC. Amy Adams Amy Adams was fine. I guess we'll six. I'm a huge Amy Adams a guy checkout sharp objects if for her alone the same rockwell. Bush was like an average Saturday night live impression. There was some unnecessary time jumps. There's one part where they were like back in his youth and then it jumped to him being the vice president and he's sitting in a room like eating a Danish and then jump back to something else and it's like what was the point of that. ooh There's no reason for that the there was some gimmicky parts which I won't mention because they're kinda spoilers there were. "I teared up a little bit. I cried a lot of movies. But this one I was like damn in the the slowness, it's really slow and quiet, the whole movie, and that's if you're easily distracted or bored by that you're not gonna like this movie. It's since it's on Netflix. It's easy to just like pop on your phone. You know, if you're bored. Yeah. If you do that it's gonna the fat finale is not going to hit you that hard because you've been distracted so much. Also, it's frigging black and white and in Spanish like there's it has a lot of things working against it in term of someone enjoying it. Which is exactly why I I walked away. Not loving as much as I knew as I could. I liked the story. I thought she'd elites did a great job. Incredible. Those two senior referencing were hard Hittin. I'll tell you that those are two of the best that I saw these movies took me like four to five hours to watch it because I do other stuff when I'm watching movies like you have to be you have to be locked in to the movie to the screen. You can't it's all subtitles. No, one speaking English. So you have to be yet to be reading along with it. In it's in black and white. And like you said it moves slow. So there's times when you look away. And then they'll start saying something important in you have to had to run it back. So that cut into my experience quite a bit. I made an effort to not have any not have my phone or laptop. I was watching. This would have been a good one to watch in the theaters. I would waited a lot more even though it's in black and white kind of the splendor of the scenes, I think would come through if you're sitting out again with no distractions. If I watch us on my side screen while doing other stuff guy. Imagine you did. Yeah. I definitely wouldn't like that as much. Did this come out in theaters? They put it out in theaters. So you have to be on theaters to be eligible for most awards. That's what Netflix is doing. Now is they're starting to put their big they're big awards show movies out in theaters for a little bit, but it's not widely available. I don't think you'd have been able to see it in a theater. But anyway, I liked it L. I I can't really articulate it because I'm not art see, you know. I'm a sucker for really long continuous shots. If base if you pull that off I'm all in some of my favorites creed a hate. But when creed goes into the ring to face, pretty, Ricky con Lynn, and you can hear the music and the fans rising, and it's like five minutes of the walk to the ring fabulous true to be better than creed. Okay. Okay. All right anyway, I like long shots. And there is a lot of those in this movie. Yes. I just enjoyed the movie. I can't totally articulate why. But I liked it the bad is that it's long, and it's really slow and the barriers to enjoying it are really high. And if you if you're the wet those getting away, you're not gonna like it. Anything else on this AB a lot of movies this year? I've noticed when going back through them had really low budgets in. This was lowest of them. Oh, interesting fifteen million most of that probably went to the recreation of quorums, childhood home. Like that was a he really faithfully recreated the house. Black panther. I I think black director along with maybe a devante in wrinkle in time to have one hundred plus million dollar budget with Ryan Kugler in that movement, yet the favourite was the favorite was also fifteen had a couple. Oh, really? Yeah. Fifteen then Black Panther two hundred was the highest you all know, the digits. Yeah. Nine point two. I gave him my ranking immediately after watching it, you know, into misty eyed. While big I like to credible. I liked it. But again, I put my phone on a different room. And didn't have in watch it on TV. I wonder if Black Panther made more than all these movies combined. I think it's probable. Yeah. Okay. All no. Because the next one is a star is born. Oh, okay. All of them except for stars born you combine it I think Black Panther. Definitely did. This is directed by. Bradley Cooper, this insane of twenty eight teen you could say starring Bradley Cooper, lady Gaga, Andrew dice, clay. I think it's still probably Dave Chapelle. Same elliot. How much did this make four hundred twenty three by pay those one point two billion? Yeah. It's been out for a full year. Two other nominations the side from best picture picture. That's actor Bradley Cooper best. Actress lady Gaga, you're telling me that lady Gaga for main actress, and Marcia is up for supporting best supporting. Actor same Elliott barely in it. Same elliott. But this is like a lifetime achievement award adapted screenplay cinematography exam Elliott doled gruff guy with the mustache. She's been the million in the movie. Yeah. His brother. He's in the same category. As -mercial Oliver, Sean win. Yeah. He's in. He's in the mood for ten minutes. Are you joking me? All right. Let's not get mad here. And this original song. There's never been a better, more obvious shoe.

"More what they both were better for knowing what I took away as well and there's plenty of spine about the the past and racism Forcing that upon and you said they're spoon feeding white people tiptoeing toiling in isn't necessarily a bad thing. 'cause cheer in. It's a pretty good message. It's the movies it's Corny. It's Schmaltz it's it's paint by numbers And it probably portrays Tony. Because it was written by his son as better than he is yeah then he was There are parts where where it does seem like boys in that funny that they went to the fried chicken play like they made. It seem like some of the racist stuff was like a just a funny thing from the sixties it's pretty predictable and some of the moments were eye rolling but I really liked watching the movie. I felt at the end. I was rooting for a specific thing to happen at the end. I like the movie I don't i. It made me feel good. I'm sorry the ending had the biggest feel good moment of any of these movies. I agree that the end the move in I mean I almost frigging clapped in the theater. Abo is big smile on my face. I don't know to tell you anyway so I like I. I'm aware of I knew new all these things going into the movie I was like I'm GonNa hate this. I'm going to be offended by how simple this is and I wasn't. I like now that in. No Marshall is not for best this actor. I'd say I'm furious either. I had no idea and Wow insulting it's here's one thing I'll say if you haven't seen this movie or want see or you if you have I'll recommend the strictly to you but believe it or not Kareem abdul-jabbar has what I think to be the best defense of the movie grim Dole Jabbar's the writers he writes about the bachelor like curse Jabbar Watches all the things I do except he he. He's really thoughtful really really thoughtful and he points out things that I've never even considered though one thing he anyway he wrote about it in the Hollywood reporter she just Google he he saying like the controversies traverses and you know the criticism should not detract from the main message and the main message is while we said. It's these two guys for knowing each other became better. There's there's one criticism it kind of felt like it was from Tony's point of view and maybe it should have been from the guy who had a much more difficult time was Don Shirley maybe should have been more from his point of view. Creamed Jabbar says. The film is more effective from Tony's point of view because the that audience the white audience will be most changed by watching it from that perspective. Because you didn't watch and go like wow. I can't believe it was like that. You know what I mean. Yeah no it didn't change. Didn't change your perspective on anything so it's I think that's an interesting defense next up. Is there anything else to say. Liane Green Bouquet be my digits. Yeah give me the number scan a nine eight point three pretty good this brigade pretty good. I you know if some tweaks it could have been there more but you know I'm not I'm not discounting the criticisms completely but it's it doesn't destroy the movie for me. I don't think it destroys movie next up. Roma directed and written by Alfonso Cuaron one. It is a Baseley. Memoir of his childhood It portrays a the everyday tasks asks of a housekeeper for a well family. It's supposed to be the housekeeper inspired by the housekeeper in Korans youth and it takes place in apply a neighbourhood or area of Mexico City called Roma starring. y'All lead Sir Appar- EC. Oh I hope I pronounced that beget. WHO's up for best actress now? This woman's story is unbelievable. You should google if you haven't seen it yet. She was already. She's never acted in any shoes. This a normal person and some how got a role in this movie and blew up. And she's a Oscar nominee. I think they cast. They like two hundred people tried out and they kept looking for the right person and it was just. She was a schoolteacher. It'd be like that's what it was. I was trying to think of her occupation. Yeah crazy do things we should say it's in black and white. It's in Spanish with subtitles. The way it was shot long continuous shots actors coming in and out of rooms at distance I like that style because it made you feel like you're in there with them. I don't know what your opinion is of that. I liked it I didn't love some some of the it was really artsy. Yeah you before. I watched it that it'd be called a film instead of a movie and one hundred percent degree like they'd have. I like how it was shot. But then they do like they'd show you like water going down the drain for like thirty seconds. They didn't need that. Artsy scene of flour pedal dropping down onto the ground. I did that I did. I really didn't it didn't i. Don't think it increased any. I don't think improved this movie or did anything for the story. Okay what did you make the story. What did you make of the worst impressions of the movie overall? What'd you like about it I liked? I think I've said this before. But it's the story about a woman that lives a poverty poverty stricken life that I have never thought of or seen in a movie. It's it's it's showing the the struggles struggles of of people that I I don't know much about so I enjoyed that. It's a look into a life Yup and it's a deep intimate commit look absolutely mundane everyday tasks that she does her relationship with the family. That employs her Yup You know middle upper middle class. Ask Family in Mexico and she is. You know a poor laborer basically There there are two unforgettable scenes in this movie which I won't mention and one happens maybe like halfway or two-thirds away through which is like brutally sad so sad Tough to watch really tough to watch watch but it hits you and then the end the final scene of the movie. Yeah I teared up a little bit. I cried a lot of movies but this one I was like damn in the slowness. It's really slow and quiet the whole movie. And that's if you're easily distracted or bored by that. You're not GonNa like this this movie. It's since it's Netflix. It's easy to just like pop on your phone. You know if you're bored. Yes if you do that. It's going to the fat. Finale is not gonNa hit you that hard because you've been distracted so much Also it's frigging black and white and in Spanish like it has a lot of things working against it in terms of of someone enjoying winging it which is exactly why I walked away not loving as much as I knew as I could. I liked the story. I thought she'd elites did a great job. Incredible Those two scenes. You're referencing a hard hittin. I'll tell you that those are two of the best that I saw these as movies which took me like four to five hours to watch it because I do other stuff when I'm watching movies like you have to be. You have to be locked into the movie to the screen you can't. It's all subtitles knowing speaking English. So you have to be yet to be reading along with it. in it's in black and white and like you said it moves slow so there's times when you look away and then they'll start saying something important in you have to. I had to run it back so that cut into my a experience quite a bit. I made an effort to not have any not have my phone or laptop. I was watching. This would have been a good one to watch in the theaters. I I was a lot more. Even though it's in black and white kind of the splendor of the scenes I think would come through. If you're sitting down here again with no distractions if I watch us on my side screen while doing other stuff. Ag- I imagine you did. Yeah I definitely wouldn't elected as much. Did this come out in theaters. They put put it out in theater so you have to be on theaters to be eligible for most awards as that's what Netflix is doing. Now is they're starting to put their big. They're big awards. Show movies these out in theaters for a little bit. But it's not widely available. I don't think you'd have been able to see it in a theater But anyway I liked it all I. I can't really articulate it because I'm not artsy you know I'm a sucker for really long continuous shots if basically if you pull that off. I'm all in some of my favorites creed a hey creed you bring up green but when creed goes into the ring to play face pretty Ricky conlon and you can hear the music and the fans rising and it's like five minutes of the walk to the ring fabulous true to be better than creed. Okay okay all right all.

"Tony Val long unreal life so just a lot of competing narratives from the family between the family and the people who made aided another thing. The guy just mentioned Nick Val Longa and Twenty fifteen replied to Donald Trump's tweet and said the he saw Muslim celebrating it nine eleven so so here. We go spoiler alert. Mahershala Ali is a Muslim kind. Either of these the people that they're portrayed retrain alive. No okay which is it's not a well known story so there's no one really here to we have to just go by people's words last thing appear fairly again famous director. There is a nineteen ninety article in which he admitted to doing things. You shouldn't do onset in terms terms of body parts. Okay so a lot of a lot of bad headlines around the movie. Here's the criticisms of a movie One website says it. It spoon feeds racism to white people. With which is a funny way of putting improbably a fair criticism. It does kind of make you feel good. A white people can watch it and feel good about how far we've come. If that's the Lens you WanNa look at it through good thing. It's not bad like that anymore. You can do that if you want. one that many people claim that the the Don Shirley character is the magical Negro trope where the black person person makes the white person feel better and the white person improves is better than he was before because of just the the presence of the Black Item Ubi okay and then the last thing. It's called Green Book because there is a book called the Negro Motorist Green Book Yup in the mid early century and mid-century which is the travel guide that black people used to travel around the south stateful safely yesterday in places where they were welcomed type of situation the book itself not a part of the movie basely at all and I feel like many people could probably cut so those are those are the controversies. That's why people don't like it. That's why it's getting ripped apart by high minded people. I loved this movie. I don't know I I can't Sorry I've really enjoyed the movie. What did you think of it? I loved it to him. His great favorite movies. That is really good. Listen all the things you said like. I don't have any counter points to most of the salad. The crews are valid concerns. But that doesn't change the fact that I really enjoyed Royd the movie. These two worked phenomenally well together. It had some really funny parts Marsh Lally is he top of rhames power ranks right now. Wheels he wanted to find out if I stay tuned her his portrayal alone. He refused to have that character be pushed to the side. He was the justice. Vital to the movie is Absolute Vigo Mortenson. That's why it's absurd that he's as supporting actor here. I don't I wouldn't have guessed that at all I look at it like remember the titans we've learned in recent years I remember the titans was bullshit. Spoiler is basically all concocted thin air. I I don't really care if you're one of my favorite movies if we tear down every imperfect movie with a good hearted message. Then we're not gonNA have of any acceptable viewing options if you want to feel good and also I don't think this was the key takeaway was not look at how bad it used to be boy who racism sure was crazy back in the day yeah the key takeaway was at these. Two men both improved for the better obviously the dimwit Jim. What Racist Guy improve.

"Part you know. Vh One or FX affects. What do they call those when they call hero verse that people needed one of those whereas like six weeks? Our to our longs per week I. I needed way more than two hours to tell this story. I think I two other movies came to mind. I I think I prefer movies. That focus in in on a portion of someone's life not the whole thing Ali with will Smith. You're not the best movie ever but it was like a focus point in time where you learned about him. The character the man rather than just like bullet points of the major things in his life ray with with Jamie Fox did his whole life but it was three hours very long. That's the longest movies I've ever seen. Yeah raise extremely long so if he wanted to do that here. You could've win. They didn't they had some powerful subject matter in there too like was he was gay in the Eighties Nineties which was rough and they barely touched on it like they kind of flu that he they flew by that he had a double life basically and they didn't really they couldn't really dig into it deep so it kind of just kind of a montage of yeah it was like a plane music showing them play music and then they're showing throwing him like leading this double life and how troubling that is but they never really tackled the issue and couldn't because it was already two hours I another thing I wish they should have shown better is throw the the band's connection with the fans. Why do people like Queen? They just show that they became really popular. Why why they just? It's just like look at this genius. Why is he genius? Why do people like this person in this band and I think that would have helped the live aid seen hit even more because that was kind of the first scene where they showed fans like like appreciating their music? But we haven't seen that any point up to that another thing was and I don't. I'm not a huge queen guy and I didn't know all the facts. Apparently some some of the time line was like religiously off like totally changes everyth- okay for example. When he was diagnosed with AIDS was totally totally years off basically was a Mayton they said before live aid and in real life? WHO's three years later? Oh Oh so. He didn't tell his bandmates before them. Okay and live aid was not like a courageous. I have AIDS. This is my last Hurrah. I'd any moment performance which percent so I mean you don't need all the facts straight when you're working with historical material at all but when you make it like the point of the the crux of the film. It's tough I mean. I'll put it this way room. I I went and watched I think I watched an actual Freddie Mercury documentary prior to I. I'm pretty sure it was before and I liked that just as much if not more. I mean there's an awesome performance Freddie. Mercury was awesome performer. especially I mean you can go on Youtube. Tim Watch anything. And it's the upgrade but the movie. I don't know if it was a little disappointed. Great seen couple of great scenes though. Yeah I'm shocked. It's up for best picture. I'll put it that way because I'm not rare opinion that I am to. What are you rank it? Oh you want the number. Yeah the digital give us the gives you the numbers. I give it a generous a six point five. That's pretty low folks next up the favourite with a you directed by yorgos lamp. The most starring Olivia the trio. The incredible trio of Olivia Colman Emma Stone. Dan and Rachel Weiss Vice. I Dunno it's a black comedy drama about two cousins jostling to be the favourite of Queen Anne and it's set in the early seventeen hundreds first decade of the seventeen hundreds. I believe aby what what do you got on the favourite this does now say it does not seem like your jam at all I liked. Ah The act the acting from the three actresses. That's about it. I hated the story. Hated the story. The funny parts weren't funny. Funny it was kind of. They pegged it as a comedy I mean I guess I guess. Did you laugh you ever laugh. I mean it's that British style of comedy where you just go. Oh that's okay. I've I saw in theaters. There were not a lot of laughs in the theater. I'll put it that way. Free them worked perfectly together you could. They could affect just acting acting off of each other. It was good. I just didn't I didn't work for me. Didn't draw in. Here's what I thought was good. The actress is terrific. Chemistry Olivia Colman. Who Played Queen Anne the oldest of the three obviously? She was really good and she. She is going to be Queen. Elizabeth in the next couple of seasons of the crown. She's really Sinclair foy. which I don't think it's too early for that? You condemn me if you WanNa talk about the crown. But it gave me confidence that she'll be to carry the ground. I mean if you're into these period piece favorite we'll alike crowned it's different. It's not comedy it Sir is in its. I've recommended she before that if you're if you're struggling to find something to watch with your wife not you but if you're a listener out there and you're a guy and you think what me and my wife don't like watching the same things on your likes. The crown might be for you because it's got the British monarchy stuff mid since mid century and kind of the. I'm a fan of British monarchy stuff. I think it's an interesting setting and topic. Yeah clervoy terrific. I recommend the crown Anyway back to the bad of this movie. I didn't take a lot of notes on this. Not My cup of tea was the first one I put down after I left. I just couldn't get on board with the style style was weird. It's such a detraction from traditional these type above period piece stuff scorching high right now and this was like a turn in that upside down a little bit with the way it was done. I guess some people are are into. It wasn't for me. I didn't like the story. I left the theater in a bad mood. I didn't think it was that funny and idle and I like these these. I like these types of thing. Yeah I like the stuff so I went into it with high expectations. And it's getting big praise. Big Praise critics. Love this move. Okay so my Oscar rating scale. I've I've this acting story originality and entertainment. I gave it the worst score possible hospital. So they ranked dead last in story originality and entertainment entertainment story for sure those board originality original. But I can see why you wouldn't want to give it that. Here's here's my number for six point joint worse than Bohemian lower than fairy magically bind Black Panther and Black Klansman okay. 'cause while I don't have I I I've raided like two hundred movies in my spreadsheet. Six point one is and I'm pretty tough not a lot of nine eight six point one is pretty pretty low on the move through so now my favorite now I get why people like it. It's just not for me now for me next up Green Book I got a lot on this one. AP Green Book. Peter Fairly director. The Guy who did something about Mary and others other screwball comedies starring Vigo Mortenson the Great Marshal Ali. It's also nominated for best actor Vigo best supporting actor Martial Ali. which is what the support? What do you mean crazy story is about two guys? And they're both leads. Needs both the leads of this movie. Let's go back to the favor. Would it be supported. The the the favorite has ten total nominations. I think that's tied for the most best director. Best Actress Olympia Coleman best supporting actress. Emma stone and Rachel Weiss both got that for why those two those two. I'd say we're had more her. Yes importance to the favorite. I don't understand crazy have bothers me. The most is Marshall per screen. But that's the standard these two should both either have to put them in supporting. They have the same number of lines. I bet to leads so you can you have to I. I think I'm sure you can. They both sure it's crazy. I you wonder that there because I think everyone kind of knows who's going to win. Best actor I I wonder sometimes if the yeah my win supporting so we can win it because he also wanted. I think supporting for Moonlight one could argue that he was like as much of a lead in moonlight as anyone else. Anyway I mean that's a La- you can buy that a little more because he's not in like half the movie he's literally in the entire your movie talking in every scene. It's crazy this movie. If you haven't heard about Don Shirley a successful classical oh slash jazz pianist in the sixties he hires Tony Villalonga a racist long to drive them around the south while on tour in nineteen sixty two okay. It's a right off the bat. You know that this is good. Feel good see. Why can't we all just get along long movie? I like those movies I'm pressure. AB likes those movies. Sawyer should be on board with this. Let me quick before we talk about the movie. Give you a quick. Rundown of the controversies around the movie. Yeah I'd like to hear those because I've heard there are somebody I haven't really dug deep into. I'm GonNa Start with the controversies and then I'm going to explains why we shouldn't like we're not supposed to like the movie okay. The press tour was a debacle Morrison Dropped an end bomb He said the N. Word he didn't drop them. You know what I mean like. He said it while on a panel oppressed like QNA panel talking about how things have changed since the nineteen sixties. So on the scale of saying that word this was not like bad intentions. Okay but he said it and I don't think anyone was expecting him to say Eh. And when someone's recorded on the phone that's GonNa go around. In its Vigo the headlines Vigo Mortenson drops an EMBA. He apologized Marshall accepted his apology. Damage done though number to the family of Don Shirley said the film was loaded with falsehoods. His brother called a real a story. You're supposed to be. It's a real story. The Guy who wrote the Guy who wrote the movie is Vigo Mortenson character son Nick Villalonga okay. So that changes how you watch it now because you know who's being portrayed in certain ways Don Shirley's family said the movie was a symphony of lies is That they weren't actually friends and it was more of an employer employee relationship the bright. What the writer Nick Valongo said that Don Shirley himself told him not to speak with anyone before the making the film before he died and the director said that they tried to contact the family? But couldn't don on surely said that he was friends with Tony Val long unreal life so just a lot of competing narratives from the family between the.

"I also you mentioned snubs ousted antsy as many as I wanted to this year long I mean should I didn't see creed to charitable. I mean Nice should be put in the stocks for that. We gotTA keep a moving black KLANSMAN. AB directed by Spike. Lee starring. John David Washington in Adam driver. TOFA grace the guy from seventy show as David Duke and Laura Harrier Other nominations include best director Spike early. Best supporting actor. Adam driver adapted screenplay original score film editing. So it's got six total. Nominations what did you think of Black Klansman Aby ice. I should we should tell people what this is about. We should sit with a little plot. Summary this is the story of a black police officer in Colorado Springs Colorado Auto in the seventies news the first one on the force in the city and he infiltrated the cake the local KKK chapter and this isn't a Chapelle show situation where he just put the head on a never took it off in the at the meeting. He had his white compatriot in the forests. A help him infiltrated by being the guy showing up to the meetings historic by the way true story. Yes it's a true story and it was written by the officer or who pulled this off so ab. What'd you make of Black Klansman full disclosure? I Rim I didn't know John. David Washington was Denzel Washington. Son had no. Oh I dea. When did you find that out? That's very after the movie so I looked up who he was and found out. He's my favorite actor son. No no one knows that when they see him. I didn't know it for several. I'm a huge ballers guy he's in ballers. He's like one of the main Gaza hollers. He got the late start. He played football for. I know a lot about John. David Washington He paid his own way to play college. Football at I got I WANNA say Morehouse And then played in Europe for awhile caught on with some practice. Squads there someone we know who know someone who played with John David Washington Genton and they were like sharing hotel room and Johnny of Washington was like. Hey Do you mind if my dad's swings by in town and other guys like yeah sure you know and and then fucking Denzel Washington. He had no idea he was Denzel. Washington once you know though it's impossible to send me looks it's like his ass and he talks like him. Yeah Yeah what'd you think of the movie. I liked the movie rim. It wasn't my favorite of the year though those it's an interesting topic. I thought the real standout actor to me was tougher. Fabulous did a great job is up up for any supporting actors or anything. He's not Not at the Oscars as your first snub screen. I just think it's funny buddy. The hippies upset about the guy from that seventy show in the movie black clansmen nominated KKK. Guy Really should have got to not. I don't know what else to tell you a good. It was a great story. I didn't love the movie. Though I really didn't do you like the stylistic stick spike Lee is a different yeah director. He'll put some stuff in there. That might not seem like fit. Did you like the stylistic choices not really a lot of thing law thinks I'm that's caught. A lot of attention is the end. We won't spoil. What the end is but the end is different from the rest of the movie there throughout the movie? There's a lot of like obvious direct references to things that are happening now. Current Day tied earned day so when they sh- show some things are more direct times the current day. I wasn't opposed to it even though some people felt like Kinda threw them out of story a little bit. I didn't think that was the case to Mina Criticisms Abe I don't know why but I expected some laughs. I don't know why expected laughs. I think it's because the premises so absurd that there would have been more comedy in. There wasn't allowed to come to kind of look the way. Spike shot it though. It kind of felt like there should be some laughs. Laughs is well yeah. It felt like you're watching like kind of a anchorman. Yeah Times you know and it was Kinda long it was I think is two hours twenty minutes or or thereabouts to fifteen but it was always. It was always moving. I thought stuff was always happening. I'm just GONNA put it this way room. I'll probably never watched this movie again. I think I said that I I do that with good movies. You Watch them and you're like that's true. Yeah you know not that. That's not a huge knock but yeah I'll never watched it again. Probably it was worth seeing. If only for the insane story that we would know about this. Move absolutely okay so we're both good. Here's my I gave it an eight point seven aby so higher than Black Panther the higher than Black Panther. The story was too good and it's just It was a bold visible movie. Spike Lee doesn't really care about about pleasing the big audience. He's going to do whatever he wants to do. And say what he wants to say and the ending really hit with me so I was. I was a fan hyphen next Bohemian. rhapsody this was directed by Bryan Singer. Now exposed scumbag disc's exposed and then he left during the middle of the movie because I think his mom got sick. And then was picked. Up by Dexter Fletcher so this had to directors and a Tumultuous Making King of starring Rami Malik as Freddie Mercury and bunch of other people. Frankly I haven't heard of. Don't expect a sheer much of you star in this movie ribbit. There was. This movie was no no have any of the other people and I never will. I read a lot of stuff. Wow the other guys now spot on I. It's not what it was about. The frankly they're spot on for people that we don't know in real life either like Freddie Mercury is but we don't know the other guys in Queen it's not a so they might be spot on their spot on a boring rock. So what'd you like about this movie. Let's start with the things we liked. It was a story. I I didn't I didn't fully know I wasn't a huge queen fan so I didn't know a ton about Freddie Mercury. I've seen now are you more. Did you listen suggestions happiness. Listen I knew I knew queens biggest hits I was always a fan of some of their big songs You know they're at sports stadiums. When we were growing up we will ride you? We are the champions the kind of stock exactly. I thought the acting by the lead was one of the best of of the year if not the best way to find out room. Stay tuned stay tuned. He did an incredible job in the. It kept me locked in. Because of the music was gray. Everything was the scene where they're doing the the concert That happened in real life. That was tremendous. Those are literally the two do good things I have Rami. Malik terrific one thing one of our criteria. When we're talking about best backer is could someone else have done? This and I don't think anyone anyone else could have done this even with makeup and prosthetics and all that stuff. I don't think anyone I don't think a person better suited for the role than agree the live. They'd seen their famous live aid concert and London or wherever it was maybe La best recreation of a big event that I've seen in a movie. And if you'RE GONNA IF YOU'RE GONNA recreate exceeding that really happened on a big scale you have to give a different perspective. Otherwise we watched on Youtube and they did and I thought that was a really really really good. That was an awesome scene. And the associate That's it that's all I those two things things were all I liked about. The movie didn't really like this movie I didn't I was not a fan could have been on. Vh One. I wouldn't go that far. You went there. I will agree that like some of his. The other story lines that were going on didn't really I didn't really draw me in. I didn't care all that much music. bio-pics are just tough because they want to show the entire fall fall like rise from obscurity to the peak to the finish and you have to put in musical performances which take time so you gotta fly through through like in this case. I don't know twenty five years at breakneck speed so they're jamming stuff in like. There was one scene where it was like. They're about to like break up the next thing you know like within thirty seconds they start writing their biggest hit four. There's one scene where they meet with the record executive I I like the guy from the record company for the first time and within thirty seconds of meeting him. It's like all right now you're signed. Here's your new manager. Let's go make a record a slow down a little. But there's just so much to tackle. Yeah with this it almost would have been better suited for like a six.

"Too. Mr creed. I'm there's no bigger creed guy. Who's been out? So. Didn't see that. In the theaters eighth grade. No, it's nuts. It's crazy. And you know, I mean, I. Humiliating for. This is humil- sit wedding. You probably came into this. Punt men hope AB doesn't ask adverse way for Michael Jordan. I hope he doesn't ask me about Cree to I probably wouldn't have asked you either. But I just watched it myself. That's humiliating humiliating. Incredible. You know, why when right when it came out movie pass, basically turn off the spigot it came on the same time. Michigan Passmore remember being at the theater and movie pass wasn't were they when they almost ran out of money, remember, July or something. Shut it down and didn't tell anybody. So they wasn't an option on movie pass round. I kept telling myself like all all I just never. Each. I I mean, that's truly like I said prepa sit deep deep. Shame. I. Creed to yet. Wow. Yikes. All right. Let's see if we keep that in. That's how. Next black. What's your rating system? You very intrepid infamous ABC Oscar rating system, I feel like we can't get to it until the end. Because it's they're like puzzle pieces. I won't tell you the out. I won't give you the ratings. I'll tell you what the scale is. So it's based on Ford criteria. And then I rate them kind of like wrote. Oh baseball. It's acting story originality entertainment. There's eight movies in you, get one through eight. So I ranked them Iranians ask it's eight points the best one. So it's one to eight. So the lower your story, the lower your score, the better, and then the lowest score total of those four categories you add all the numbers up is my best picture. Okay. I like that a lot. That's like the famous rim scale for restaurants. It's unassailable my rating system is a big Google, doc. Okay. Google spreadsheet with all the movies. I've seen when I see him and notes I write notes to ever move saying. You know, why? Nobody's see those somebody asked me what I think of movie, I don't wanna be like odd saw at nine months ago. I forgot. Gotta stay right ready. You don't gotta get ready, folks. What do you where do you think? I have a page notes on every movie where do you think came from just whip them today? I am the my rating system is literally just gut the guest most. It's so Black Panther got eight point three Kansas outta ten. And I'm a tough grader only there's only handful movies that are above like nine point five. Okay. If you're above nine, Debbie. Debbie movies in your list? No. Of course, not. Okay. Let me just sort by. Let me just select all years. I can't wait to hear Rim's Oscar snaps his list of couple and rhythm share got away more that he believes should be nominated. Here's an example of a stellar stellar movie. That of recent years, should I give really high score. Mad Max fury road. Those good nine point seven. Oh, that's pretty high. That's really high. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, I also you mentioned snubs also didn't see as many as I wanted to this year. I've got along. I mean shit. I didn't see creed to credible. I mean, I should be put in the stocks for that. All right. We gotta keep it moving. Black klansman aby directed by Spike Lee, starring John David Washington. Adam driver for grace, the guy from seventy show as David Duke and Laura Harrier. Other nominations include best director, Spike, Lee best supporting actor, Adam driver, adapted screenplay original score, film editing. So it's got six total nominations. What'd you think of black klansman aby? I liked we should we should tell people with the about we should pass it with a little plot summary. This is the story of a black police officer in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the seventies news, the first one on the force in the city, and he infiltrated the KKK the local KKK chapter. And this isn't a Chapelle show situation where he just put the hood on never took it off in the at the meeting. See had his white compatriot in the force help him infiltrated by. Being the guy showing up to the meetings story, by the way, true story. Yes. It's true story. And it was written by the officer who pulled this off so AB, what'd you make of black klansman full disclosure, I rim. I didn't know John. David Washington was Denzel Washington son had no idea when did you find that out? That's very after the movie. So I looked up who he was and found out he's my favorite actor, son. No one knows that when they see him. I didn't know it for several. I'm a huge ballers guy. He's in Vollers. He's like one of the main guy he got a late start. He played football for. I know a lot about John David Washington. He paid his own way to play college football at gotta wanna say more house and then played in Europe for awhile caught on with some practice squads. There's someone we know who know someone who played with John, David, Washington and. They were like sharing a hotel room. And John Washington was like Haiti mind if my dad's swings by he's in town. Another guy's like, yeah. Sure. You know, and then fucking Denzel Washington. Over me had no idea he was Washington credible. Once you know, though, it's impossible to semi looks like his ass, and he talks like him. Yeah. Yeah. What did you think of the movie I liked the movie rim? It wasn't my favorite of the year. Though. Those an interesting topic. I thought the real standout actor to me was toe for fabulous. You did a great job is he up for any supporting actors or anything? He's not not at the Oscars as your first snub. He what? On screen. Just think it's funny AP's upset about this guy from that seventy show in the movie black Klansmen.

"This was in April. How many are there? Tell the great question. I don't know like thirty in the marvel. Cinematic Universe this this world. Nineteen I believe maybe twenty have been released already with a few more calm Like this year yes gene. I watched them all K- including Black Panther that was included in me watching these. I didn't know it was going to be an Oscar nominee at that point or whatever over but yeah I have seen them all now. Did you know did you do it. In order yeah yeah. I don't Cimino order. It was great it was great. I can't recommend something more than to go through all the marvel movies movies and watch their grandparents. Those are good movies. I hadn't seen most of them omitted effort over the last couple years basically because I wanted to get in on the avengers. That's why I wanted Eh to. Yeah what did you see Infinity War which came out last summer with everybody else and Black Panther to watch them all. Most of them are awesome. Yeah awesome awesome movies and when you watch them in order you start to pick up lots of That's part of what I wanted to do. It is well because I saw the Black Panther phenomenon. I couldn't go to it because I hadn't seen any of them and that could go to vendors and I'm like I want whenever the next avengers comes out. I want to be their day was ready. I'm ready for the next next avengers coming out in a couple of months. Where would you put Black Panther? What quadrant the top quadrant of marvel movies? I'd say it's not my favorite favorite I think like some of the captain America ones are good. The avengers are all good. The latest avengers might be my favorite. It's a good movie really good movie But Black Panther dried up there. I feel the same way I three probably. I'd say safely in the top third or top five out of the Johnny. Whatever movies I weirdly? I love the Captain America movies. I don't feel so good. That's the best. Like that's the best like franchise so this is safely in that one of the best ones. What what did you like about this movie? A. B. in general cast was phenomenal. I like the Black Panther character. I hadn't I didn't know anything about him going into it. He said I've never. I wasn't a huge guy I kind of dabbled from the outside new. My Spiderman congressmens on big big deep into the comic book game or anything like that so I didn't know the story at all. Aw I thought it was pretty good story for a Comic Book Movie Easier to follow. I thought that a lot of the other because a lot of the other marvel movies have other. MSU characters flying in and just for the sake of connecting them to other is just too much going on this is a pretty straight or to follow a story. You didn't necessarily need to have watched any other marvel movies to Joy Black Panther at audit also. I could've went in the theaters and watch. This would be fine. I was a big fan of the Said said the parts that were great about this movie really. You can talk about without spying anything. I thought the setting was awesome. The world that they were in was incredible. You kind of almost wanted to pass out in theaters. I you must wanNA pause it and like look around more To scenes to me that really stand out the casino seen Ab was like Damn. Now's incredible awesome bond movie. It was black Bond Yup and then the the to challenge unseens on top of the waterfall. Where also yeah with Michael be who it was great? It was great. The music was great. Just a really really fun movie. And we've even we haven't even touched on the cultural significance of this movie and learn why it's nominated obvious. That's why it's not the first black superhero movie. I mean it's it means a lot. I don't think people doesn't know that like growing up as a kid I didn't have any black black superhero. So I mean this would have been. This would have been huge if if I grew up with a Black Panther. I'd be Black Panther every day. Be Rocking that mask right now to this day if I despite a blank on superheroes but like there's there's no star wars yeah. There's no big Kinda huge franchises action type movies movies. There's no I mean. Who are the black action heroes growing up? Wesley Malaysian man. You gotta look up to necessarily That was obviously part of the reason. Why there's so much hyper and Wyatt? This movie more than anything proved you can make other shit ton of money with basely. Woes Ninety percent black casts this movement profited a billion plus dollars already credibly profited that while it might not even been the best marvel movie to come out in two thousand eighteen but but this was the only one that had any chance of getting a best picture which I'm fine with because I think it opens the door for more this blockbuster type movies grisly. I mean these type. The movies get a bad rap with though ords for no reason other than Sh- Nabi people not wanting to give them their shot Part of I didn't mention this but in the past couple years. The number of academy members has expanded greatly and there are now like like way more women and way more people of color voting so I think now is in direct response to the controversy. I think there's going to be way more movies. He's like this nominated. This can only be good for them to have popular movies in the best picture category. It can't hurt anyway if you're in a comic book movies at all or even if you're not but inveigle interested in you haven't seen this movie. I recommend it absolutely. I agree bad things. Do you have anything bad to say about this movie some criticisms Ab that could have been better her. No I mean this is kind of nitpicking. But I was in the middle of my comic book phase and I just seen like captain in America and I would've liked to be a couple more superheroes in there just caught up in that story I wanted like a halt to pop out of nowhere. I mean the the more heroes. There are in these superhero movies vendors with all the People Black Panthers there there frigging all the captain America. Iron Man all the people were there so I was in the middle of that kind of one more superheroes there but I can understand why they didn't. They were there. Ah to minor things that week criticism I can tell you didn't even really believe it if anything the cast is too loaded. I I think that'd be more. There might be necessary like Daniel Columbia is like I think one of the one of the greats right now. Best said is in the business in my opinion. The guy's got great is views barely unscreened. There's too many people you can't say no to all these like superstars that want to sign on for this movie so there was not there wasn't a screen time to go around. Olmos other thing is in. This was kind of the instant reaction when it came out Kilmartin kind of had a point and it took it took too long. Had A good point and it took too long. I think for them to kind of no spoilers but for them to kind of approach him with an open mind Salvi again nitpicky. It's a fun movie and it's if you haven't seen in the if you have the chance of CNN theaters would you like rim would. Would you like better this this movie or creed to. I hate the asking that question because I am when my great the probably the greatest shame in my life right now is that I haven't seen creed to talk with Mr. I'm there's no bigger creed guy uh-huh who's been out so I didn't see that in the theaters. That's crazy nuts. It's crazy and you know. Part of it is humiliating for Mrs. Mrs Wedding probably came into the spun does like Manna. Hope doesn't ask what's this. Wait for Michael Be Jordan. I hope he doesn't ask me about tree to. I probably wouldn't have asked you either but I just watched it myself. Humiliating Humiliating Eh incredible. You WanNa know why when right when it came out movie pass basically turn off. The spigot came out around the same time mission. Pass remember. Being at the theater and movie we pass wasn't were they when they ran out of money. Remember July or something they should take. "What's The kid count? How many kids do you have to do the end of their grandkids at this? It's been so long to kids three about to be one before and one. What does that mean about to be four years old and one year old? Okay okay I thought Kendall had pregnant with twins or something like wow that's crazy. Life is good we're here had to talk about the Oscars. The word show like all ward shows. That doesn't really have affect anything but it's fun to watch. Would you agree. Yeah well I love this time of the year because I catch up on all the movies and act like a movie snob even though I watch for ten months of the year. I don't watch any movies and then for two months. I'm going to literally two months if you talked about any about movies before January. He's hasn't hasn't heard of. I don't even know what you're talking about. Maybe just saw blige just heard about this Black Panther phenomenon going on forever no it does give us a reason to watch movies and it gives us the the thing to a shared cultural touchstone. which by the way? This country is losing out on A. B.. There's too so much of what the what the devices in the social media and what have you and their own little corners. We don't share anything anymore. Remember the old days everybody watch the MTV. You wouldn't you couldn't miss. It couldn't miss it now. People are watching all sorts of different stuff. Nobody knows the problem is ah you just watch the clips so like I see some stuff from the BMA's but it's just the clips just a couple of performances couple of funny things I'm not sitting down watching gene the BMA's anymore no one does there's too much other yet to many other entertainment options in the palm. Your hand okay. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to go through the eight. The best picture nominees talk a little bit about him. In what's the word alphabetical order. Maybe pick some Award the big awards. Don't put any money into a pool and baser picks on our picks. Ab just told you. He doesn't even really watch movies until this week. Okay well once I get going. I'm I'm there okay. So you're the authority here. Just a guy with a guy with a movie pass search for as long as that's GonNa last. Don't get me started on. That movie passed by the way Greg places got to be out of business. It's been a hell hell of a ride. I think I saw you know twenty five movies in the theaters this year. Stella Murad Aby no who votes on the Oscars you know movies. Stop Guy Movie Industry. I have no idea who votes on the Oscars. I remember like a couple years ago when it was the what was the thing White Oscarssowhite so why Oscarssowhite that's what it was and it was like ninety percent white people but I'm pretty sure they changed it since then. I have no idea what the criteria is though. So it's the Academy Awards awards and you refer to when people referred to at the as Kademi growing up. I always imagine like just rich people in suits who probably don't even see all the movies and they're just voting you know based on what they think. There's actually now eight almost eight thousand people and they're all like in the industry and you had to have achieved achieved distinction so there's and there's different branches. So there's actors directors producers Costume Designers Etcetera and the people in the different categories stories. Do the nominations for the relevant awards category. So like the actors do the nomination for the best actor and actresses roles then everybody votes for the winners okay and every all branches pick nominate best picture too don't like all. The Oscar winners automatically automatically get no vote going forward and there's no like you can't look up necessarily who's in the academy but people say they are sometimes there's no it's like Kinda Outta the revealing a baseball hall of fame boat. The most votes is the winner in all categories except best picture which is done by preferential ballot. Some there's here's scenarios in which the movie with the most number one votes. You might not be the best captured type thing which is good. Good background information I saw Black Panther. Ab directed by Ryan Kugler. Would you call him the biggest star her. Yeah I mean WHO's bigger. I gotTA list at the bottom of go to that later. Oh time are we giving out spoilers by the way. That's a good question. I don't think we should okay if you want to know like crazy. Spoilers like there's a split you haven't seen a star is born yet. There's a big spoiler there that you could say that would ruin. Someone's experience should talk about things that happened late in the movie. But don't ruin the experience black. Panthers a marvel movie.
