Seventy three percent of expenditures went to locations were foods the primary product think grocery stores wholesale stores convenience stores restaurants and a significant percentage went to local businesses. Researchers at the harvard kennedy school's rappaport institute for greater. Boston conducted the study joining us to talk more about the program and this data is chelsea city manager. Tom amber sinoe. Tom welcome back to radio boston. Thank you very much. Push you to be here so tom. We talked with you in october. Just as you were getting ready to launch chelsea eats you said then that while you knew this wasn't something. The city could necessarily sustain with its own funds long term. You were hoping the results would help people rethink this idea of direct cash support programs which have been quite controversial. Were these the kinds of results. You were expecting and hoping for Both we were hoping for them. And frankly we were expecting that people would spend this money responsibly. And that's exactly what the data shows so tell us a little bit more about what the data told you so the majority of the money More than a majority of it was spent in places where likely people bought food supermarkets grocery stores places like bj's and costco. A lot of the money was spent right here in the city of chelsea particularly at some of the largest supermarkets like market basket. And and campari shopping compare so we felt Very calm very Enthusiastic that the program

Washington likely to part ways with QB Alex Smith in coming days
"All right tyler discussing football. You said there's a little bit of breaking news yes according to you and rappaport about five minutes Alex smith and washington are expected to part ways within the next coming days. Said he still wants to play. He is thirty six Someone will get them. Probably as a backup. I will watch. Houston making the starter next year. Why wouldn't it. Kansas city chiefs possibly in back. Ooh he knows his role for why not. What's chad haney there. And he's a nice job. Did a nice job. Maybe you let those two. i don't know head. He's already a legend in kansas city for that further down run baby andy just says you know what. Give him a chance to go because he's never gonna see the field here and then maybe that's what he does but see that. Maybe san francisco's looking for another backup quarterback. They had some troubles with their backups. This year the mullins. And and beth third were just quite. Frankly just guys. So maybe maybe they look into it.
Detroit Lions coach says Matt Stafford trade talks are 'hot and heavy'
"Is the NFL off season braces for a game of quarterback musical chairs like we've never seen before. New Lions coach as reportedly said talks involving a trade of Matthew Stafford are and I quote here hot and heavy. NFL media's Ian Rappaport tweeted expect to trade before the Super Bowl. Washington, Of course, in the mix for the teams interested in Stafford's services,
Watson Wants Houston Texans Trade - No Matter The New Coach
"Be enemy. Who watson apparently liked and wanted at the beginning the talk. Now there's nothing better talk narrows it. The shaun watson is doesn't care who the head coaches that he's going to ask out and he wants to be traded now. This is the fact that i've tried to say speculation until he says something. But there's enough insight from these people who do their job morton schefter and and rappaport and all the people that it's this is not fake. It's obviously real people. Think laking this to these. I don't have any idea. But all of them have their sources. It's definitely there's there's no way it's anybody. But sean somebody connected to sean agent. A a buddy whatever it is we everybody has somebody that go to for this. And this is obviously real. The question is how real is the trade. How real would it be. And sean again. The texans on a on a give him all that money which he deserved. But putting a no trade clause in for twenty five year old and an and now if he decides to drop the no-trade clause he can decide where he goes. So let's say it was the pittsburgh steelers who wanted offer but it was less offer than the. Let's say the chicago bears and he says i'm not going to either one and i'm not going to be here so now you've been he'd that the only thing he does control about this he can hold out but he can also pigeonhole you into who you're going to trade with which may cost you less. Because they know the sean while you may get less for him because shawn watson can lead you down all six different teams and lead you down to. Here's the to. it's either here. i'm not going. And i'm not showing up now. You can call the bluff and say we're not trading you there for that and cause they're not we're not we're going to get somewhat close to equal value which is going to be impossible. But then you're going to have to hold out if you wanna play that kind of hard ball or less. Just gonna go in and say you know what we'll give you away for a cheaper price. Let the fact that he's unhappy as obviously real so. It's something that has to be discussed now. I'm not going to sit here and speculate will go into the jetsons you i don't know and none of us do and i don't know i still think it'd be stupid to trade him. But if you play hardball you and you're playing that okay. Are you going to hold out. You're not call the bluff.
Christian Debate Champion vs. David C. Smalley
"My guest today is really going to take me back to a debate. I had A few months ago with randall. Rouser known as the tentative apologised where we talked about is is it rational to believe in christianity order the christian faith. Rational and. I'm excited to have him today. So please join me. In welcoming cooper right here to the podcast he cooper. Thanks for joining me today. Thank you david for having me on so in the pre show you were telling me you actually heard that debate that i had with randall right. Yeah so i was a little frustrated by both of our performances. In that debate to be honest with you felt like we kept talking past one another. I didn't feel like i was able to get my point across. He kept sort of the thing with randall. And i like him by the way. We follow each other on twitter. We share a lot of the same political views. I like randall. But being in like a match with him or some sort of discussion like that specifically some sort of formal debate. He tends to want to be the wrath. While he's fighting and throw a bunch of flags and say that i'm committing fallacy and a fallacy of rather than dealing with the actual discussion. And i i find that frustrating. Sometimes and i felt like. That's what kept happening. He kept telling me that. I was arguing for something. I wasn't arguing for. He wasn't really adhering to rappaport rules and it was it like an uphill battle to me but What did you think of the discussion david. I'll tell you one of the sympathies. Have with a lot of debate. Is one of the things that i met can be. Frustrating about debating is is. They often like to have very elaborate answers to a question that should have a pretty simple response whether that be a yes or no question or something that that is more directly related to the question you asked instead. They might have a habit of where they wanna about something else. So it can circle to something different. So i i kinda saw some of that going on debate. Which is where. I kinda sympathize with your position. Navigating that Of course you know. I do like randall as well I think he has some phenomenal ideas But i i understand why you probably would have been frustrated by some of that debate. I think my biggest thing. And if i were talking to him by the way i would say the same thing so i'm not you know. This is all public eye problem. Saying what i would say to randall but In fact i was getting ready to do a charity. Thing and randall jumped all over in wanted to be a part of it was going to help me raise money for someone. He's he's an absolutely one. Forgot that the thing that the curveball. I couldn't get around. Seemed to be that i kept saying. The belief itself is an irrational belief. Because it's never happened before know dead people. Don't come back to live and die if you have faith. That's fine say it's on faith but to say it's rational doesn't make sense. He would then say. You are calling christians irrational and i kept saying no no no. I think rational people can occasionally have things that they believe. That are irrational. Without making the person as a whole an irrational person they they with rationality day in and day out. They walked to their cars. They put their key in their door before they open. They don't just repeatedly tried to walk through it and say something's wrong with my door. They use rationality all the time. And i felt like he was trying to make. It seem as though i was attacking a people. When in fact i was just saying the idea itself doesn't follow basic logic and reason and i hope i made myself clear in that but from randall's responses in the moment that it didn't seem like i was successful in doing so. Yeah so on that particular issue when you look at. Is it rational to believe something whether or not someone is rational or irrational. Doesn't really matter what matters is the way they come to such belief rational And so you know. In that position out of argued why think a believing in a resurrection would be rational Or why come to that conclusion. Be rational in order to disprove the point. Okay so so so before before we get into that Tell us a little bit about you. What is your background. What is your denomination In in how how did you get involved with things like this. Like reaching out to even you know here an a podcast or to be an atheist speaks with believers like like. How did you find me. Are you a part of an apologetic ministry. Like what's your what your story so probably one of the more significant qualifiers for myself if you would is did collegiate. Debate didn't high school to for about five years. And i've won two national competitions in debate so my overall personality is one that likes to be a to likes to question who likes to discuss in. Who has an earnest desire to figure out what is true. And what's false. So you're you're in literal debate champion. Yes yes says. I've won two national titles as a as someone who did debate. Yeah
Chargers player tests positive; facility open
"Couple of tidbits of information from the National Football League. Uh, obviously, the positive tests continue to roll in from Tom Pel Acero. The Giants have quarantine all but four. Of their offensive lineman after one tested positive for covert 19 That's from Tom Palace Arrow. Now the Giants play tonight. I believe against the Tampa Bay Bucks. So I'm not is that is that You know, I got my game screwed up tonight's Carolina in Atlanta. I'm sorry. Do they play this weekend? Tampa Bay in New York. I thought I thought that they are the Monday night game Monday that okay, so they play Monday night. And now all before their offense of linemen have been quarantined and also for me and Rappaport. Rick of the Chargers have a positive test. You just reported Chargers had a player test positive for covert 19. And that player in all close contacts were told to stay home and isolate. The team learned of this last night. The facility will be open, but all meetings will be virtual. So Charger's not practicing today. Wonder how if it all that will affect the game Sunday here in Denver? Yes. You gotta wonder. We'll see how this plays out.

"So first of all, I was like never the type to believe in such things. I'm just saying I'm not I never journal than ever meditated never did like any of those? You know like it just not my type. But once I did it literally that first session it changed my life completely. So I always tell people until you try it and I just once because remember at the process, please try a few times. Don't say anything you could maybe think it's weird but still try it be open to see maybe there's something there. Okay. Now once you try it. See if it works. If you did it, a couple of times didn't work. No harm was done if you did it at, it changed your life like as dramatically changed mine. Good for you. You love it literally kind after client who just comes changed their marriage they understand what's happening like recently, I had a client who was. Separated okay. The she still loved her husband, but she'd been separated and things were just. Not Looking so good and was working with her A. She realized that she drew a picture. She's been really similar exercise to like when I told you before and she drew a picture of a cow and her mom was on the couch and she was on the couch and. Then, she was journaling about it and while she's journaling, she realized that her mother had manipulated her as a kid to behave a certain way. Okay. Now, then she went to a different country for high school, she stayed by her hand and she. Did some work there, and again her aunt manipulated her. Okay. So for her the only way she knew anything was manipulation. So she loved her husband so much and she wants to show him her love. So at that, she'd do without even realizing she's manipulating him like for example, he's overweight and he has to lose weight and she wants him to lose weight. What does she do? She controls or tries to at least control every single byte he eats now we know that doesn't work. So she leaves even the group, he's going to go eat something else. She's not home restaurant who knows what he's GonNa. Right. Now to her, she just cares about him and she wants him to be healthy. So that is why she's going on controlling everything that he eats, but that's not healthy and it's not gonNa make a marriage work. So through this process of writing about it, she realized that Hey, I know I never knew this I realized that my mother manipulated at manipulated me and to me showing love is through manipulation. But that's not a good idea. Now, how can I go and change my habits that talk? So that way I'm not manipulating him anymore, and then from there, she was able to move forward and just recently she actually back in with him so. It's a process you're going to want to try it see for yourself and save them. Works. No harm is done if you write on some paper. Okay. So there's proof people see there's A. She's So incredible stop incredible. I I love all this I'm going to try this out is I'm scared about it dime going to try this out. cause. Okay. Definitely. Definitely by have one last question for you before we get out of here..

"They wrote and no one gets to look at it unless you decide that this person is safe. Okay. So if you wrote something about business, you might WanNa than share it with your business partner. Maybe, you'll wanNA tell it to them maybe you'll WANNA show them the paper, but you you don't have to Warri while you make it's almost it because it's not gonNa work because your body first and foremost is going to protect itself on protect you. So you might even try this and see that you're not getting any answers and we'd like okay never mind and give up on this try to get in a few days and again a few days later because just like when you meet a stranger the first time you don't go and tell them all your problems. Your mind is not going to go and tell you all the things that thinks if it never trusted. The process didn't trust what's going on here. So once you show it a few times that hanes looking at this is safe that you'll slowly slowly slowly you'll be getting more more answers. So. Say. Like you said, you have this fear rejection prefers something out. So let's say you journal something or had what to do in your marriage. Okay. Now you WANNA. Go and tell your partner that but it's really hard for you. You're embarrassed you don't know what to do. What he to now could. Journal about how should it go and tell them because that will go and tell you the answer. Maybe there was something you didn't think about another great thing to do is. You can have a conversation between your two hands, which can also be between you and another person. So let's say you WanNa tell your partner something. and. You don't know how to go into that. You don't know how they're gonNA react. You don't know what they're gonNA go insane what they're going to ask you. You can go and have that conversation I on paper with youth thinking logically writing with your dominant hand and they answering in the conversation sing whatever they wanNA say without youth thinking if you're not dominant an now obviously, it's not going to be exact word for word what they're going to say but it's GonNa be about. Their mindset is you're going to be able to understand more about and you could even ask those questions before they shut you down because they might say a mad or they might say never mind and run out at you or they might yell at you and then you closed down we never know which way it's going to go. But if it's just papers, it's not as scary because it's just on paper so you could go and take it further without running two different room. I. Love that because incredible stuff I like it but let me tell you this actually People are listening to this and they're like, this is weird. That the words right out of my mouth. Sd What are you talking about this? The Budget Huey? This is. Work. It's work for me. You know using other hand what what are you talking about to? Tell them. Can you tell them in defend yourself right now esti defend yourself and say you know this this word for me people I've known thome stuff right now that. Okay..
Commercial Real Estate's Great Reckoning
"So. Whenever I think about commercial real estate or read a story about it I think about our offices at NPR in New York. I know they're Ripe Time Square we worked on the nineteen th floor of this big skyscraper it was filled with workers people in publishing fashion insurance lawyers. Yeah. That's right the streets around midtown Manhattan or like full of people in suits and they're rushing to and from the Subway catching. Uber's grabbing coffees talking on their phones. Yes. In that area of Manhattan. Some of the most expensive real estate in the world commercial real estate in that area is just like very, very high stakes. Steve Rappaport has been in the commercial real estate business in Manhattan for fifteen years and he says, it is not for the faint of heart. It's competitive. It's fast paced. It's all commission based exciting. We asked the ABC's of getting paid and commercial real estate always be closing always be closing you have to hustle for everything. So no deals though commission and in the brokerage world. Ten percent of the brokers make about ninety percent of the money were you in ten percent? They come in a good position. Ten Percent Day thing. I'm guessing you was. was being modest modest, and of course, it's not just the real estate side of things. That's competitive. I mean New York is an easy place for business to thrive. It's very cut throat and Steve says, business owners have to be really careful about the location and the space they choose because that is the kind of thing could make or break a business, the right price or at configuration the right ceiling height they have to. Feel that it creates the right environment because retailers Rommel you're setting the stage. He said the right stage you can make a fortune. If you set the wrong stage, you could lose everything lose your shirt. Steve says in the world of Commercial Real Estate Five, hundred square feet is generally the smallest space that'd be like a tiny little coffee shop with no tables that tiny space packs a big rent punch Karm Square and sustain. Spaces. Could be two thousand per square foot. Like a million dollars a year in those neighborhoods. Yeah. You don't find any five hundred square foot store on. You. Starts at a million dollars a year. You had to sell a lot of coffee pay that kind of right at is so much coffee. But those are the rents people were paying and those rents had been going up for years and years, and then in March they stopped in fact everything stopped it really. flatlined this Steve says everything just hit a wall people who had been looking for space to open up a restaurant or bar they all stop looking people had a space to rent. They were not getting any bites. The many people. Quite frightened were you frightened? The No. I was not happy. was, I was said. because. Sad for those who were hurt and who are losing their businesses are still losing businesses. It's an uncertain future Steve says, there is some action now but businesses not even a third of what it was just eight months ago I mean, how long do you think it'll be before you're back to one hundred percent. Two years within two years they're gonNA say at a a definite uptick. And you think you'll be back to. Back to one hundred percent maybe. Or the new one hundred percents. Would have. Is. So here's the problem with real estate right now this is not a typical recession because this recession has been accompanied by stay at home mortars and a big cultural shift in the way that we work and commercial real estate right now is getting it from all sides. Yeah. I A lot of businesses have closed in the US nearly a hundred thousand since March all of those storefronts and offices are now empty and that has major ripple effects because it does not just the empty office buildings. That are feeling the effects of the current change. It's all the businesses around the empty office buildings, Yup bars, coffee shops, restaurants, dry cleaners, clothing stores, those businesses, count on people commuting, and moving around town, and coming to work and going out after work and when people are staying at home. It's just less business for everyone and even when people do start going back to work chances are they'll be going in less often and also there probably won't be nearly as many people going back to the office. I think this is a permanent
Groin injury for David Montgomery, could be out 2 to 4 weeks
"There's also bears news at this hour for me and Rappaport. The injury to David Montgomery may be not as serious as they originally thought, which is good news, a groin injury for David Montgomery, but Ian Rapoport had it as a 2 to 4 Weeks. Timeline. If it's two weeks he could play in the opener. If it's a little bit longer. Maybe he misses a game or two. But it's not quite as devastating as everybody was making. Ah sort of making it out to be for a little while there about 24 hours ago on social media, so
How to find (or become) a good CFI
"People keep asking me how to become a better CFI. On how do I get better as a CFO or if you're on the pilot slash students side of it, you can say, what am I looking for when I look for a good? Good CFI. I mean, that's a really tough one to answer honestly because you can. Be Brand new to the game. And you might have had fantastic instruction and you might have. A BIG APPETITE FOR Washington struggle I mean that's not a bad but he might enjoy helping people solve problems. Born teacher and just because you're new doesn't mean you're bad. Without bragging I sort of think that's the situation I was in right I met Richard. I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was intentionally putting my whole heart into an reteaching some of the stuff that he taught me on and. Certainly Green when I started a lot of mistakes and have corrected a lot of those things since that I still make mistakes. But I think I was a pretty good teacher straight out of the gate. Had A colleague enough for jet blue and I distinctly remember him saying to me one day. He said, Hey, dude, I can't I'm feeling really guilty I can't see my students. For anything, except ours. He was seeing as little our Johnson, his logbook. But even though he was coming from that perspective, he did a pretty darn good job. Right? He he had a sense of responsibility when it came to teaching people and he was doing his best. Now, you can have an old timer who hasn't worked at a flight and Flying School or Fight Club and twenty years. Maybe he has fifteen thousand hours in his logbook but I might be a really bad teacher you know set in his ways not. Not, keeping up with the things that are changing on. This just illustrate how it's not a very simple problem. Certainly from the student pilots to know. If, you've got a good instructor how to find a good instructor if the instructor you're working with this week in any way. But one thing you can ask are certain you know metrics I'd ask how many students that person has put up for a check ride in the last say three years. Or two years, which is the. Recurrent training interval required for CFI's we have to go back for a flight instructor renewal course every two years. And it doesn't have to be a lot. If someone says I put ten people through in two years says something and someone says that but one person two years that's fine to. The point is they're working with an examiner and that's really When I think about that question what makes against the F. I? How do I find a good CFI? And I struggled a look for some common denominator among all of the people I just started described in a two personality types I just. Any one of those things is some version of peer review. That's an extremely important part of the process for everybody. Phase checks, for example. I rely on fees checks heavily on even if it's not an official face check, I love it when my students. Take a lesson I can't be there and I say they want to eat fly with Mary this day or Fly with jaffer whomever it is. It doesn't even really matter what I want from that instructor is one hundred percent honesty no ego involved right? I've been doing this for. Twenty years more than twenty years now, and I want to know if there's holes in my game and I'll give you a great example. You know this is probably five years ago. So there I am fifteen years into Jane. On and I sent a student on a number two as a lesson or a check but he goes out with Jeff Rappaport who jeff was a pretty new CFO at the time he was my instance student. So you had been a relatively museum. and. Jeff comes back and says you know you're seeing it in great on this this this and the other thing. But I noticed that he didn't do after landing checkless. and. You're right. I don't think I'm very militant about after landing checklists. You know if you don't pull check this out for every climb level offer descent on you like white on rice but am I really that diligent about an after landing checklist when the wheels are on the ground over staring at the park probably not and is that a good thing? No. No that's not a good thing. It's a whole that Jeffcott immediately, and then certainly in examiner would catch. Right. So I immediately plugged that hole in my game. Haven't seen the all the time just made a mistake on Patriot regarding night currency requirements and one of the guys on my content team cut in, and we now I call the examiner and get to the bottom of it, but it's that Peer Review I. think that keeps instructors sharp. Keeps instructors current and saying relevant information. I'm in. It also inspires confidence. For the student.

Camera doesn't want name. But has been going through all the questions, and when I say all the questions we have sixteen pages now of questions that have come in in this person has been loosely categorizing them and putting them in, so we have them, and so even though they don't want to be mentioned a lot of the help was being done by this person, in both dressed in I. think since both Justin I. know who it is thinking. "There's there's this. There's this notion going around that Jesus. To. Muslims in dreams and visions, and they are getting eight. There's a lot of problems with that. Hebrews one one and two is a big problem got a talked about it earlier, my session God long ago spoke to the father and the prophets in the importance in many ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us in his son, whom he appointed heir of all things who also made the world. Hebrews one pretty much an them to God. Speaking to people in dreams and visions doesn't do that anymore he did. At one time. On occasion not regularly, but on occasion he did, but he's not doing that today Hebrews. One puts an end to that Romans ten also puts an into it I think. How will they? Call on him and whom they have not believed. How will they believe in him in whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a dream vision? No, not what he says is. How will they hear without a preacher? You have massive theological headwinds with this whole Jesus, appearing to Muslims and dreams and visions with Hebrews one in Romans chapter ten, both of those are just insurmountable odds to this in insurmountable obstacles to districts, a odds insurmountable obstacles to this. God Jesus is not showing up in dreams and visions muzzles in a couple of things else to add to that. This Jesus quote unquote Jesus that is appearing to Muslims and dreams and visions. A OF TIMES HE SENDS THEM TO BAD churches. Since onto a Roman. Catholic Church or word of Faith Church. Data ain't the real Jesus. Jesus is not going to send you to a bad church. so that's one thing another thing is. Of course Muslims have dreams about Jesus. Why wouldn't they?.

He'd be Roman Catholic. So children just naturally adopt the worldview in which they are in. It doesn't mean that they've owned it. They understood it in. It is changed them from the inside out. so there's a lot of people in our churches that. are hanging onto. A baptism event that they had as kids in thinking that they're okay that they're converted that they're say they prayed the centers prayer quote unquote in were baptized as kids, but there's no real evidence of conversion in their life. There's no godly sorrow overseas, and there's no genuine repentance genuine fruit. There's no growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. But. They think they're saved. Because they were baptized when their kids, so there's a lot of. Baptized unbelievers there are also a lot of. Ties believers because here's what happens on the flip side of that coin. Same five six seven year old kid praises centers per again. Quote Unquote is not in the Bible, but not. In bad ties as a child. But. They're not saved, not converted. But then they grow up. They go through their teen years. They become adults somewhere in their twenties, thirties forties knows somewhere along the way. Guess what happens, they actually do get saved. They actually do get converted in. They do begin to show genuine fruit in keeping with repentance. In so they're in church. And they're. They're faithful members, but guess what they're doing. They're still holding on to that. That happened when they were kids. Even though their conversion, they're real conversion. Happened did happen, but it happened at some point later in life, but they haven't been biblically baptized because they're still holding on to. What happened to them when they were seven so? If, anybody's watching US right now and you're thinking. Wow, you know I think that's me. I remember being baptized when I was a kid, but I don't think I would say the end, but I I know I am now. May I joyfully encourage you to? Seek Biblical. Bats, Batum tell the elders church share your testimony. What a joy that would be! What a thrill! What a what an encouragement that will be to the other believers, so there's a lot of people who are in our churches who actually are believers, but they haven't had biblical baptism because they haven't been baptized as believers, it happened. Way Back you know. Where we had a young girl who was baptized child and she wasn't saved. Realize as I was preaching. Real and got saved. A year later that she finally came to me and said I think I think I need to get baptized again and you're right..

"Who is the man and dressing worthy man? They escorted him out and as he's being out, he's preaching the Gospel on the way out well. There's a difference there 'cause. This is someone that's leading people astray. To to damnation that you may have a church that they're not the they're. You disagree with them, but it's not damnable It doesn't lead them to hell, so that would be the difference. I'd make their. this next question. We can't answer, but I'm GonNa, read it and ask the person get hold of me. Cindy asks. I'm a sudden. I was going to join a church, but my doctor Says No. What should I do? What you should do is email me. just at Info striving for Trinity Dot Org. August that we the that's why we can't answer that because there's just not enough information. we don't know what your situation is that the doctor would say no just in. Here's a question that came in I was asked to you, but I have a feeling. You're going to throw back at me. So this is in the category of world, religions cults in movements when. The question is Justin. Do you plan on addressing Hebrew roots? Yes. It's IT I won't say it's not. It's not my front burner necessarily, but it is something I've looked at in. In all probably end up doing podcast on it, but. It's it's bad Juju, but but yeah, that's that's definitely. Wait wait wait. You're GonNa Talk Hebrew roots again with the bad juge knew. What do you want against my people? The Bad Juju. About, Hebrew roots no less than calling you do. I gotTA learn to stop saying that around here. Will give you a resource. For this only resource I know on Hebrew Roots Movement again. It covers my face, which is good tourism. Tour is I've gone. No are else, Walberg. We've done to podcasts I've had him on my rap report podcast and the title that we use of that podcast was tourism and I had him on politics live, and the top title was tourism. Tourism is a term. He came up with to describe HEBREW ROOTS BLACK HEBREW ISRAELITES. All these groups that want. Want to put themselves back under the law, and it is the only book that I've seen on the subject. It is an excellent excellent book handles things wonderfully and I recommend you getting it so just look for the book. Tourism are Christians required to keep the the law of Moses and so You can go to tourism book dotcom Tour Ism. Book Dot Com. And you can pick it up there. And let Robert Know that I send you a way..

"And so you WANNA stick with guys. They're more the theologians of just mentioned striving fraternity. We do seminars unapologetic. you if you listen to the RAP report daily Podcast, I'm literally giving two minute answers to apologetic questions. That's that's pretty much what what we do on most the shows, so let's move into church questions. You know actually what I would do. Typically is just wholesome books off my shelf. But they're not there so. I really can't actuate. I can recommend this because it's my seminary professor. is every believer confident? By mark. and. Mark is was my seminary pressure. He's got a PhD in in should keep it up there, so you could see it. He's got his PhD in precept presupposition apologetic. So people always think that I actually this is much better because covers my face. Look at that. Every, believer. Confident by mark for him and people think that like. Water answers and Jensen from one thing let's. Thinking well What I got all my precept from cycling wound-care, because that's when most people became aware of presupposition, positional, apologetic and I'm like no I. I I was taught at twenty years before by PJ in it. Long before had was believing, decide didn't know it until later, but let's move into church questions. so the first question in this is for both of us. What the nomination are members of or are you nondenominational? I am nondenominational house. born and reared in southern, baptist. Denomination but I'm not southern. Baptist anymore With people I'm feeling much better now. I mean there's a lot of issues of with SBC, but our churches nondenominational so for the last ten years been. NONDENOMINATIONAL! And I I I've been. Since I've been became a believer since have been converted Christ I've been in independent Baptist churches. So pretty much in line with with MacArthur. All right so then. You and I would be yeah with MacArthur on. Pretty much everything. Not that. You know my mind. I think we have very minor things that we have the same. Grid Yeah, you and I have very little difference. We have very little difference with MacArthur. Both of you when you correct, your theology will agree with me. It'll be fine. So let me ask you this question, and a this one over to you. What should someone do and they learn that they're under a leadership of false teaching. Leave quietly. Leave but point out I should pointing out be done privately or publicly. Leave quietly or Are. Publicly I. I mean I. Guess if you know if. It would depend on the severity of the error as opposed that you're in, but. I would. Kinda difficult question. It's not like a one-size-fits-all, but here's what I would say if you are. In this happens a lot. 'cause I hear these tests on all the time. You're in a bad search. But all this alison somewhere along the way you actually get saved. and. Then, you do exactly what Christians do you began to grow you? You have a hunger for the milk of the word you begin to understand scripture you read study as you grow, then you start realizing. Wait a minute, something. Here's not right. This is this is lining up with scripture in these alarm bells going off all over the place. And I get questions from people. They say I know now that I'm in a bad church I know that there's a lot of things being taught. That are on Biblical..

"Dash doctrines and mark gives a just a list of the primary essentials the secondary essentials. That might be one resource to go to. Let's. You know of some others there. Justin! Now. Than the question for you. Is Out of James Five fourteen to eighteen, it says how do we properly interpret James Five four eighteen? Often taken as a promise of healing so long the elders of the church pray over the sick or rights. Like Elijah. Or hard to. But. But yes or harm you. How would you answer that? Yeah, it's a question. asked often in James Chapter five verse thirteen. In fourteen, following his anyone among you suffering, he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? E is to sing praises. Among you sick! They must call for the elders of the church, and they pray over him, knowing him with oil in the name of the Lord and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick load. Raise him up. If he's committed sands, they will be forgiven him so. is any among you say there's a couple of different ways to take this. And in the Greek. That word sick could either refer to a physical illness or a spirits will weakness. It could go either way in its use both ways. so. In in commentators honestly seemed to be divided on some believe it's a fiscal sickness. Others believe it's a spiritual weakness. I think the context. For a spiritual weakness as opposed to a physical illness for a couple of reasons one. There's nothing in the book of James at all about physical sickness. Except arguably right here there's nothing else in the book of Genesis saw all the sudden. Just kind of appears and there it is, and then it goes away but there's a lot in James about sin. That James has been referred to Christianity in blue jeans. Our live out the Christian, life. In fact, it's even in the immediate context here. Is Any among you sick? He must call for the elders church prayer offered in faith of were store the one who's sick Lord raise him up. If he's committed sins, they will be forgiven him therefore confess your sins to one another. So I think the context, our argues for a spiritual weakness as opposed to a physical illness. So that's one point. Another point is that even if it is a physical sickness that is in view here this word this rendered a sick in the Greek, even if that is the proper term, this still cannot be a blanket promise for guaranteed he. it cannot be that. Why can it not be? That cannot be that because the Bible is full of examples of faithful servants of God, who were sick and we're not healed. So, this is not a blanket promise for guaranteed healing. You've got Moses. You've got David. You've got Elisha who died of an illness. You've got Timothy. Take a little wine for your stomach. You've got trophyless. You've got the Apostle Paul himself Galatian chapter four verse thirteen. Sit A. he had a bodily. So the Bible is just full of examples of faithful servants, of God who were not healed, so it cannot be a blanket. Promise across the board for guaranteed healing from a sickness and disease and one other little point, notice at James says anyone among you either weak or sick. He must call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him. Notice. Who Does the calling here? The one who is weak or sick calls for elders of the church to come to him. What are we say in the Charismatic Movement? We see faith healers. Calling the sick to come to them. So it's the opposite of of what we. What we see here model James is the exact opposite of what we see in the in the charismatic with..

There's really no other card to play. If if you sense a willingness and a tenderness and the person to. At least be open to the possibility that his beliefs the have been wrong and willing to have it corrected from scripture. Then that's good. That's what you want which he hoped for, and that's a that's an opportunity in an invitation to spend more time with that person reasoning from the scriptures, but if they're just absolutely, their heels are dug in if they say i. don't care what you show from scripture. As I've had people do with me then there's no with a car to play. There's no other rabbit. pull out of the hat if they won't been the need to God's word. That's just pray for them..

"It's nothing mystical. It's just. Growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Christ Bob Studying in obeying God's word, and that is the filling of the Holy Spirit to you if I could. At while, I'm thinking about it. A lot of people think oh. You've got to be filled with the holy. Spirit was not. You're baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ at your conversion. That's the baptism by the Holy Spirit when he baptize us into the body of Christ that conversion. And when Paul says, do not be drunk with wine for that dissipation, but be filled with the Holy Spirit. grammatically in the Greek it could either be with the Holy Spirit or by the Holy Spirit. I would submit to you with the context argues for the ladder that It's not like you go to bed at night. In your filled with holy. Spirit but you wake up in the morning in your court low, you know. That he seeks out somehow, and you have to get more loving when you're converted. You get all of the Holy Spirit you're ever going to get the the Bible says it that he gives the spirit without measure. So when you're converted, you receive the third person of the Triune God head in it's. It. Is The word of Christ the content end of the feeling is the word of Christ, is the Scriptures as the word of Christ dwells richly within us so. Right so the next couple of questions here they're gonNA combined together, but basically the question is how how do I get my family or friends out of word of faith movement? If they're trapped in false, charismatic were defaced churches so. I I kind of mentioned this earlier and I. You know I, figured I. Said skipping that question as I mentioned earlier is is one that comes up often, so we should deal. Mean one thing I do. The thing that actually started. The Justin I win battle that we've we've had which is to him and I going back and forth started because. you know I had a guy working in my house contractor and he was a web. Joel Stein and in word of faith, and I keep several copies of clouds without water from Justin on hand. And so I ran out of them, and that's why I said to Justin. I need some he wanted wanted to give them to me and I wanted to pay forming. We went back and forth, and that's what started that fun fun exchange, but and I won by the way just for the record. In this whole thing, I've I've gotten all of you to help donate to Justin on my behalf so. So just an I win. Right so so I keep the I mean that's actually the best thing to have on hand is to to go to Justin. Peters Dot Org get a bunch of clogged without waters and keep them on hand if there were to face I, don't know anything better to to get them out. Then that that the other thing I would keep on hand. His Is American Gospel. Get several copies of those and the the the first. There's actually several films that they're doing save done two films. The first one is is a great one to have on hand. and so I would I would look to things like that and say this is some stuff you may want to have just as a hey. Can you review this? Let me know what you think now what ends up happening? Is it depends on the person? You're relationship with that person and the person themselves. If it's someone I, have a relationship with.

"The Voice of Salvation that John Twenty. Seven my CPA my voice that that is not A. That is not a literal. All -able voice because. I mean my shape. We're seeing right Jesus in heaven. He's at the right hand of the father, so we're not hearing is audible voice. He's he's in heaven so That's clearly a symbolic. This is the effectual call. This is when the Holy Spirit. Convicts of San Righteousness and judgment convicts us that we are a center. Convicts of our lost state convicts us of the Truth of the Gospel need for the Gospel grants, US repentance and faith in Christ. And we go to the shepherd. Just like I mean we go to the shepherd? symbolically we don't literally see Jesus standing out in a field and we walk up to him That's not that's not commercial. We go to the shepherd. We rest in Christ for salvation. So that's that's what that is talking about. Not Talking about literal audible voice that you could record WanNa. You know. Whatever? Tape. Recorder gets people used tape recorders anymore, but so that's that see the other one was being led by the spirit. Yes, Christians are led by the spirit, but it is It is not a mystical. kind of leading one of the primary roles of the Holy Spirit in the lives of us as believers as I was teaching. Is that he dwells US third person of the Triune God in dwells us in. He does work of elimination. He helps us to understand. The scriptures we understand on me, enables us to obey them. Granted, not perfectly, none of us does perfectly, but we grow in that progressive sanctification from the moment of conversion until we are glorified. Dying we experienced our glorification in heaven. So it is, it is a leading the holy spirit creates in a person. A desire for God's word. If you'RE A new creature in Christ, you're going to desire the pure milk of the word. It's this GonNa be a desire that the Holy Spirit will give you. And you go to the scriptures. He helps you to understand the scriptures obey scriptures. And it is this Is that sense in which the Holy Spirit leads us as as Paul says to the questions, let the word in clashes three let the word of Christ to whale richly within you. as the word of Christ dwells richly within us. Our minds are informed by the word of God and then we just naturally obey it so in this is all the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of us as believers in that's that is the leading of the Holy Spirit? It's not A. It's not a hunch. It's not a a sense. It's not a you.

I I know there's been tons maybe millions of people that God has saved out of this deception, but they're you know just lay people if you will to use that term I, don't know of any big names that have ever repented probably the closest that would come to that. would be custody Hin, and he's not a big name. He worked for a big name. Benny? But He was a catcher for his uncle. In this miracle, crusades catch people. They were slain in the spirit and that kind of stuff He is definitely repented and come out of that and teaching strongly against it now. but as far as like. Kenneth Copeland Urban Hanner Jolo stain or one of these names you would know. I'm not aware of any, but wait wait wait. Benny Hinn came out and said he repented united a video on nets and a podcast on this he repented did any. Or Yeah Yeah. Yeah Yeah, he. Unfortunately so-called repentance he just. Dug his hole deeper because he he actually said in his quote, unquote repentance. He was asked about it. He said that he no longer believes some of the things. Some of the things that are used to teach about prosperity while the problem is is the things that he no longer believes he didn't just teach because he believed them. He taught them because he claims that God told him to teach them. So. He actually outed himself as a false prophet. Then, to add insult to injury. He said that. He said I don't know why. God waited so long to reveal this to me. No, you just threw God under the bus. Don't blame God for your San. That is that I mean that's repents one. Oh One! If you're blaming God for your San. You haven't repented. Coming out and saying I was wrong about. If you think that's not repents, N Han was truly repented, he would empty his ministry. Coffers liquidate. Everything has ministry has give every red cent of it to doctrine Lee, sound. Ministries. And or churches. Shut his ministry down because he realized that he is not qualified to be in the pulpit, he would come out in admit to people that he's been lying to them for forty plus years doing false signs false wanders. He's a false prophet. Own Up to all of that. Shut his ministry down. Join a good doctrine. We Sound Church. Sit in the Pew Learn. That's what I would that if. If he truly repented, he would call his his nephew Benny. Nephew costly and apologize. That's. Another Of through. So another question that we got here is. A, what defined what is the defining line between heretic and false teacher?.
Refuting Ben Shapiro
"Here's how he starts. His most recent show Republicans brought up in the Senate a police reform bill and the police reform bill didn't give Democrats everything they wanted. For example, it did not outright. Ban Choke chokehold. It said that departments has to take a look at chokehold and decide how they would be applied, and the federal government would make its funding contingent on particular procedures. Put in place with regard to. To choke, hold now. They're a bunch of Democrats who think the chokehold should outright ban because either they are mischaracterizing what a chokehold is. There's a difference between a chokehold and a and a mission hall, or they're trying to deprive law enforcement of a tool, the sometimes require in order to make a situation more quiescence. Okay, hold on so right there the difference with a choke hold and a submission hold. What is he talking about? I know he's hinted at being a part of Brazilian Jujitsu. I have to. You know that some submission is called. It's called a rear naked choke. You're squeezing the carotid arteries of someone to reduce the oxygen flow to their brain, so yeah, if you have your bicep on the right carotid artery in your forearm, pressing into the left side. If you, do it properly it safe. The problem is most police. Officers are not trained to do it properly. You can watch the training. You can see them fight people in public I, personally have been a Ju. jitsu Jim where cops come to fight. They do not understand the actual and breakdowns of Brazilian Jujitsu on how to properly apply a rear naked choke. They don't do it correctly. They will crush your larynx. They stop your breathing. That's not what choke is supposed to do. Okay, and let's be clear. Clear to that. That I think just stopping. The colts is also misguided even on the Democrat side I think it's misguided I think it needs to talk about bodyweight on. Someone's back the ability to breathe while you're leaning on. Someone's back as fixation we need. We need to ban all sorts of things like that, but I don't think it's fair to say that. They're mischaracterizing a chokehold from being a submission hold because nobody's preventing cops from putting someone in an arm bar. Let's be clear about that. That as opposed to being forced to use deadly force in a case where somebody is resisting, arrest me, and this is really one of the instances in which officers you see, an officer and the officer is trying to put somebody into submission. Hold read they're trying to. They're trying to deprive oxygen to the brain, not the personnel, or at least put the person and more quiet than state. The alternative to that is the person continuing to thrash around struggle. Maybe grabbed. The officer's got bent so often talks in. In absolutes he is so black or white absolutes. You're going to hear him today. Say things like every single time. It's not true all they want. It's not true. These these are Straw man after Straw man after Straw man of the Democratic position and I WANNA. Be Clear I'm not a registered. Democrat I'm an independent I consider myself a liberal I, don't I don't say I'm a leftist and I'm certainly not on the right and here lately. I can't even say have even been in the center I'm. Left of center, but I'm a liberal if you have any of credibility. You should pay attention to rappaport rules, and if you don't know what that is, look up Dan Dan. It read his books and or Google rappaport rules, and the very core of reports rules are. If you don't fully understand someone else's argument, you're not yet ready to create an argument against him. You should be. You should be able to state their argument back to them in a way that they say. Wow, yes, that's the way I feel and I. Wish I would put it that way once you can do that to someone then you're willing to make an argument against them. But these blind strokes of of all and and absolutes are just crazy, and that's not the alternative. Ben If you walk into a situation assuming I either have to choke you or shoot you because I'm an occupying force here to make the streets. then. Yeah, you're going to be violent. Either way these yeah, the choke holds pretty. Damn Nice when you put it that way. That shouldn't be the cops job.

Not All Bread Is Yeasted Bread
"You're listening I'm Adam rappaport all right first up this week. We've got editorial assistant. Jesse sparks getting on the phone with basically editor expert Baker. Sarah John to talk about non east of bread. Everyone's been obsessing over homemade sourdot lately and baking a lot with commercial scoreboard east. But Today Jesse Sarah are focusing on breads and bread lake. Things are made without either of those after that chef tyler record reads an essay. He wrote for Bon petite dot com called. I used to be a chef. Now I'm defeating monsters with a toddler in my empty restaurant. Okay here's Sarah and Jesse okay. Sarraj Powell basically editor baking extraordinaire agency. Tiny kitchen gear. How's it going fine? I made a horrible loaf of bread through. No that is a great way to start off. Bread podcast cursing which I do not curse. Secularly at high was so frustrated. I think it's the kind of thing we're like when it's good. It's good when it's bad it is. It is so bad the process. What's happened so I was like super diligent and it was soured. Oh it's like everyone can roll their eyes by. I was really diligent about it and I had even written Alec this full schedule of every time I had to fold it like it's rests. I had coordinated my day around it and I think I just let it overproof because it was kind of warm and my kitchen and I didn't take that into account so when I went to look at it after it was fully risen it was ready to get shaved. It was gigantic like pressing up against the LID Super Wet and I put on the cutting board lie work surface and I was kind of like this is going to be fine just like us us enough flour and anyway this was all karmic energy. Because I just the I had been talking to you about this but like a few days ago. My husband was making bread. And he was just like disastrously shaping it like like I was in there in the kitchen like over his shoulder like a little Brat. Being like this is what are you doing like horrible? And they came out super flat and I was like you know patting myself on the back. Little Miss know it all and then. Yesterday my bread was a disaster. Speaking of issues the sourdot there is so much to the world of bread. In kind of your estimation. Can you give me kind of like a breakdown of the three general categories and breads? Oh well I guess it's like you have leavened unleavened breads so like you know breads that are rising in some way and I guess like an ancient times that was usually like wild beasts which is sour dough and people who are still using wild yeast to Baker Baking sourdough bread and then you have breads that are leavened with instant or active dry or fresh. She's which is commercially made east. And that is much more convenient. And it's much more reliable and consistent because like you're getting a product that was made in a factory you know what you're getting instant. Yeast is my favorite of those. Because it's like virtually indestructible like my instant. Used has literally been fridge for years and still got still got it. Yeah and then. They're like you know quick breads which are breads that are leavened with chemical lavender's so yeast which is like a living organism but baking powder and baking soda. And then there's the world of unleavened breads flat breads so like PIRATA wrote. They're probably hundreds of flat. Breads just on the Indian subcontinent alone. And then like they're flat breads literally number single culture People at have been really into Scalia pancakes lately and they're like also you know tens of different types of Scotland pancakes and make it more confusing. Some flat breads are leavened. So like pita is a flat bread but it's leavened non is often Levin sometimes it's leavened with yeast sentences leavened with Baking Powder Bing Soda. So yeah it's a huge world for big big wide world of bread it's terrifying so one of the things that we're going to focus on. Today is the big wide world of nine east. Does that still managed to produce those like beautiful brady like chew texters? So can you kind of tell me about what are some of your favorite examples of like the non USA does if you're not going to use yeast. I think like the best option usually is eleven or like baking powder baking Soda Soda. Breads are really classic bread this leavened with baking soda and it kind of like has that baking soda e taste but it's tamed by acid so baking soda as a base but if you add enough acid to it you kind of temper that you know basic taste and those are super easy to put together and like hard to mess up and acidity in the dairy oftentimes. That's buttermilk makes it tender. It's not I wouldn't say it's like a great bread for like slicing like a sandwich or anything. But it's like great to pull apart enjoy and you can make it savory or sweet those are great and then you wrote about beer breads which are fun because they use like the carbonation of beer in conjunction with the Londoner to get an even bigger rise and then another thing is that people on the Internet Have been kind of like pulling up these recipes that are also like creative ways to get around this yeast shortage that were having and so something. I've seen that I'm interested in is assault risen bread which I have not tried but apparently it has a stench stench. Like that's why people don't really like to make it anymore. I'm into that and then I've seen this peanut butter bread going around which uses peanut butter to get that sort of bread like consistency. Yeah and then I think like flat breads are different often. Provide like a different thing like. It's kind of a different product but I find those to be super satisfying to me. We have a yogurt flat bread on the site. Developed by Jesuit excited another one by Chris Morocco and those are both very fast breads to make they don't involve any east at all and yeah I mean I also have made a non type flat bread that was used baking powder and Baking Soda and Yogurt and not turned out really well. Also so there are a lot of options if you don't have yeast though it's not exactly the same

"Where's the every all right here? We go another episode. What are you doing here? Probably dropping this week sometime good I I think darryl and I kind of looked at it from the standpoint we both enjoy podcasting but you know we really wanted to make sure we kind of held each other accountable And making sure that we're producing material because it it really. Is you know everybody talks about. Well you don't really need a podcast. I mean whenever we can listen to people like James White. Who's GONNA listen to you? Well about three hundred and something people do at least You know and Andrew said there. There's a ton of bad teaching out there so you know if we can have one person listen to some solid Biblical teaching in the True Gospel being presented than you know. I'm all for it but this greatly works In favor of sanctification God definitely uses that To Saint Defy me to To teach me perseverance to Having a brother Light Daryl hold me accountable for you know. Come on you need. We need to get this done That's very valuable Used in a way of discipleship in a way in You know when I talked about. We talked about Gee Three Conference Maybe once a month or something me my wife Shelby Darryl in his wife care and get on and you just have a just have conversation discipleship session or something I think I think that would be very beneficial to people for two married couples to get on to discuss the things that they're struggling with in their lives. The good the bad theology. Maybe some bad theology. I don't know I'm pretty sure I've got some stuff. I need to be corrected on But the good the bad and the theology is there. Some reason he's get the good ugly was it was hitting home. It was it was it was. I'm never gonNA live it down. I just it was too soon to say if you just named a podcast too. I did watch. I really wish Andrew. I'm not sure if you know know you had already flew back. I'm going to have to tell you about the name of podcasts that that are come up with At the bed and breakfast I'll do that privately because I don't know if they're actually going to go forward with it but I really hope that they do. I'm excited about it so I don't know if you guys got the experience that you know I know I got it going G. Three and just having people come up and and saying how much your podcast is encouraging them and teaching them and for folks who are listening. You don't know how much that helps those of us. Who podcast unless you write a review send email call. Lahser. Say something to us in some fashion. We don't know the impact that this podcast has on your life and it is greatly encouraging to to those of us who spend the time to study to prepare to get. This isn't something we're just. Hey you Let's just jump on and start talking now. There are podcasts that I guess do that. But that's not how you had. James gives us lots of time so we can start researching unknown what we want to stay on things. And that's there's it's not just winging it and that is the thing is that we don't know impact unless you let us know so. My encouragement to you is to go. Write a review on for five. Solas podcasts contact James Go Goto. What are we even doing here? Contact Daryl I'm Karen and let them know how their podcasts are helping you in your spiritual growth. Yeah it goes. Podcasting can get quite lonely at times. You know you kind of feels like you're talking to just yourself and you know maybe sometimes you are but into this microphone. Just black thing right here. That has this cushion over it. That's what I'm talking to you. That is a very fancy microphone that you have look at that. Now you're GONNA have to try it for people that are listening on pocket. Its cylinder like yeah. It is a cylinder like is a what is what's the model number of that one can't remember. I'm sure I M B or something like that seven. Mba yes seven ambulance seven mb Beyond Andrew anything else that you want to add in relation to solar script tour. Of course I'M GONNA ask you to share the gospel enclosing the what exactly Roman Catholicism. Listen Jeffrey Rice did it already. That's enough just replay. That every week. I said we don't need to listen to Paul washer anymore. Not Anymore we me and Darryl will sit and right beside him so we felt the heat from that Gospel Presentation. So you you share. Because you're hoping to you it saved okay. Let let let's. I'm pretty sure I've also about salvation about six times since we've been here so I need to get it back. Says I can't only if that's what that passenger talking about it. Here's here's The Gospel. Real simple is the fact that all of us the three of US would admit that we've broken God's law. We are criminals in his sight. We do not deserve in any way shape or form any merit or or favour from God. We deserve his wrath and rightly so we deserve attornal consequences. Because we've offended in attornal being. That is what we rightly deserve because we are guilty of breaking his law he is the creator. He's the one who puts breath in our lungs and yet we reject him we. We think that we should Gotcha count what we do. As more important than what he did on across when he almighty God became a man so that he could die. A death that you and I can never do. Because he is an eternal being that death he suffered had an eternal consequence. That's how an eternal consequence can be paid only by paying you for all the attorney or having an eternal being paid once within time. And that's what we have. Jesus Christ Almighty God paid that once in time and because he is an eternal being economically counselor attorney but count for for more than one person so this is what the Gospel messages that though you and I are guilty though you and I do not deserve any of God's favor we deserve the worst of his wrath but God and that's just stop right there and think about that but God because what God did was he made a way of escape. God came to Earth and died on that cross that if we turn from trusting ourself as a good person or turn from trusting our good works and trust alone in Jesus Christ we can have a turn of life. He is authority. He is the one we must trust in. It's the payment he did on the cross and that alone that can save us. That can be a punishment a payment for the punishment that we deserve. And so without that we're going to have to pay the punishment on our own. My challenge to you is receive eternal life. No Jesus Christ turned from yourself and turn to Jesus Christ and live. Amen isn't. Isn't that a beautiful message just and you know people wondering why don't you share the Gospel? The Gospel shared every single episode. Well number one is. I'm sitting here almost in tears because of the realization of what Christ did on behalf. is very saint defined to hear that message in Andrew has a way to relay that message. You know almost unlike anybody that I've ever heard so thank you for relaying that message Darryl d have anything enclosing now just repents and belief exactly what Andrew Just said and we know that we can be assured of that because the scriptures tell us that in the scriptures are the very word of God God breathes out the scriptures written through men but they are all breathed out by God we can trust God has said so. Turn to Christ Amen will everyone. I've enjoyed doing this episode. Of course we can unravel solo script tour and an hour and ten minutes. But you know we had some pretty big points Ladies and gentlemen I want to thank you for listening. Thank you to Andrew for joining us on this episode with us You look beautiful on the video and a little little disappointed. We didn't do the running water in our sprinkle a little bit more. But it's okay. Well I'm pretty sure we'll have a war in the future but ladies and gentlemen thank you so much this is Darryl Updike and James Watkins. With five soloist. Podcast thank you for listening and as always may all that you do be done to the glory of God..

"What's up my beloved podcast listeners? This is James Watkins with the five. Solas podcast hope that you were all doing phenomenal so tonight I am here with the beloved Daryl. Updike how You Doing Daryl. I'm doing great. I'm going very beloved filling very beloved. It must have been that must have been that Presbyterian versus Baptist semi debate that still in the morning world. Yeah you are and we're also here with other quoting Presbyterian rest in peace RC recipe. So we love you brother but we are here with another dear brother in Christ one that I I think maybe initiated the little press. Be about this debate. The Star is going to be Andrew Rappaport Andrew. How you doing all I know is that Darrell was a good Baptist Church earlier today. I can't. I can't vouch for this afternoon or this evening but I know in the morning he was in a good Baptist Church and I was asked. Did he tried to use sprinkle one of the babies. Yeah well we are here with updike. And we're here with Andrew Rappaport and we're going to discuss a very important topic in relation to the Church and that is one of the foundational rallying cries of the Protestant reformation. And honestly I would venture to say that. This was the Main point of the Protestant reformation. I know a lot of people. Think that Sola fee day Was really that that hardened battle cry but I think whatever you look back through the history you really look and see that it is sola script Torah or scripture alone. So I have Andrew. Here who are resident expert? I'm just going to jump completely off this and let him talk about it. I'm kidding I'm glad to have Andrew on here. I know he's been Very passionate about this topic It it does a lot with the sufficiency of scripture. I would say and and we're GONNA get into Toyota confessional. Is that what we call it? That would be shooter position not yet but future including the inside joke is that Daryl. They're always in a Baptist Church. He he's been going to a Presbyterian. Church is close to his home looking for a good church. And he's he's there and it's really because his twitter on twitter he his name is Daryl. I think soon to be Presbyterian. I think that's what it is. All probably changed messing around. I got a lot of presby friends on twitter. So you know he's he's he's going to be. You Know Darryl two percent baptists. I wasn't gonNA put Baptists in the morning president of the evening on there. It's all how you identify. Yeah if you identify then you know some of these online forums might give you a little bit of a hard time. Be careful that but We are here to discuss the teaching of solar script tour. So I do WANNA start out indiscriminate. Let's get a little foundational with this just to kind of build upon what it means Andrew. You just did Christ alone and you know me. And you talked about this at really. The teaching US solar script horror is the one that should have gone. I in the recording. But we actually started out by grace alone through faith alone a Chrysler and according to scripture alone but I am in agreement. We should've done sold the script tower. But I can't go back and change the future. I'm not God They thank God. Right change the past yeah. I can't change the past. See I'm already not nip attended thing but Edrich. Can you start us out? We're going to be releasing this own videos. Well so hopefully we get a little bit goofy like we were in the Pre recording phase Andrew like having a little difficulty on that side you WanNa talk justify something. I just reach for a glass of water and just all using a Westminster Confession of faith to clean up my seeing those right. No well good use. Oh all right. So let's all right about our symbol for sprinkling and yeah. I guess I I guess I must've been reaching for the spring something over there. Yeah that's what it was really water a great for podcasting so all right all right so so. Let's let's get serious. Was the question now. So so the issue that you see with sole script or actually goes in this thing. People have to understand the they think of the reformation has really starting with Martin Luther Nailing the ninety five theses the whole argument over salvation by faith alone. That is the thing that so many people will will look to and say that is the beginning of the reformation when the reality you could go prior to that with. Anya on get John Hus. And what the argument he was making was that he would look at the things that traditions of the Catholic Church and then he would look at what the Bible says and he realized there is contradictions and he was on trial and he he basically argued that you have to show him in scripture? If it's if it's not in the scripture but it is by the traditions and that's the very thing he's challenging. He's challenging the traditions and the authority of the Catholic Church that they gave to themselves. Will you can't find that in scripture. Of course they're going to give themselves that authorities so a lot of his challenge was he would argue for scripture and they would give him councils and they would give him what some pope said it and he was giving me the scripture. That's really where it came from. And you saw that with Martin Luther. As well and the reason that's so important is because it is a foundational question asks the question of Authority. What is going to be our final and ultimate authority? The reason that becomes important is. How do you know Solar Feta by faith alone? How do you know? Solo Grazia Micro by grace alone. How do you know so Christoph by Christ latter you know these things from the Bible right right so it is a question of? What's your authority because if you hold to a position as the Catholic Church does that your the Catholic Church can interpret scripture and is the only authority to interpret scripture. Then if we think about this what does that do so they would say they have scripture tradition magisterial which is the church and they're all equal authority however the magisterial are the only ones that can interpret the scriptures. So then what does that do with the magister him it puts them above the scripture. It has to because without them. You can know what scripture says. And that's why it's it's an issue of authority if you don't if you don't say that the scripture God speaking God's self revelation is the ultimate authority will what in the world are you going to trust greater than God speaking right so you. You mentioned Hus and count of how he was You know give me scripture scripture and then we look at Martin Luther Kinda Mirroring the same thought whenever he says unless I am convinced by the testimony of the Scriptures or by clear reason for I do not trust either in the pope. Orange Councils alone since it is well known that they have often aired in contradicted themselves. I am bound by the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the word of God so Andrew. Whenever we're talking about this we're not just talking about Just a full-blown assault on the Roman Catholic Church in our day and age right now because I would say that apart from True Biblical Christianity that teaches by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone None of the other colts would hold to Sola script tour where the sufficiency of scripture. Well I mean soon as you say called the in in my book what do they believe? Provided definition of a cult and one of the first things you see in that is a authoritarianism. And it's the find that a group Either an organization or individual has the Authority. Only they have that authority to interpret scripture. So right there when we look at a Colt. By definition no cult can't as solo script tour because they are so low watchtower solo. You Know Latter Day Saints Solar whatever they say is the thing that is the only source to provide a proper interpretation so whenever we look at Sola Script Torah then do we actually define what this is if somebody asks what. What do you mean my soul? A script tour. What what is a definition that is to the point that can inform them of what exactly we believe I would say it's so so? Scripture is that the scriptures alone our final authority. Now we're joking around with our soon to be Presbyterian brother.

"Amen Amen and whenever we're looking at this whenever we are looking at the all sufficiency of Christ's that means by implication application alone that we in and of ourselves or insufficient and that's what the Scripture says it says not that we are adequate and ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves but our adequacy is from God and that is Second Corinthians chapter three verse five and so. I think that we need to logically go this route for the believers that are listening. This should I say should I'm kinda getting some Air quotes here. This should be a question that we are able to answer But once you find as never you asked this question who is Jesus this Christ you kind of get answers that are all over the place if you Utah Atheist Rents and say thank. They know everything there is to know about the bobble about who Jesus says Christ is but they end up giving completely wrong answer so i WanNa dive into with you if you don't mind who is. Jesus Christ Jason. I do want to give you a little bit of a plug because you can help people out a lot more. I in a lot more detail with this than what the podcasts up. So can give because you have written into very detailed books you have written. What do we believe which basically is the breakdown of the Christian faith and you also have written? What do they they believe? which dealing with this topic here of Solas crease? I mean this could really benefit others to know what do other people believe regarding. Who Jesus Christ is what is How do they define salvation because like you were saying? Mormons Roman Catholic so use a lot of the same language wjr but there are very very huge differences. 'em What they mean by WHO Jesus Crisis Speaking to a Mormon for instance. They'll say. Yeah I believe in Jesus is he lived he died. He rose from the dead. Okay but who is Jesus Christ will he is a God right. So can we dive into that. Who is Jesus crisis someone Ask you that question. What answer do you give well? This is an essential question to ask when it comes to discussing religions specifically Christianity Hannity every man made religion is based on a man-made system K.. You can have Islam without Muhammad because there's is nothing special about Muhammad himself. He was someone that they would say. That ally used now. Muslims will get very upset when you say something like that but there's really nothing special about him you can have mormonism without Joseph. Smith's you don't need that individual you could look at you. You know any of these religions and there's nothing special about the individual founder of that religion but that's not so with Christianity Hannity Christianity. Which by the way little Christ? That's Christian means little criminals. They look like they trying to act like Christ. That's exactly right and it is what it was meant as a as an insult. Christians had had like that. Yes we want to be like Christ. We're little Chris okay. We'll take it. Thanks for the. Thanks for the advice on what to call ourselves. Yeah is better than the way which is what they were being called before so so what you see is when you look at Christianity Sanity. It's based on the person of Jesus Christ not his teachings but he himself who he is so so Jesus Christ is truly God truly man we we could get into why. That's important later but the issue is you must see that he is not just a human eamon being he is truly God truly man making him different from any other religious leader or founder. It is because Christ did on the Cross that Christians look to Christ that he died in our place that he took our sin upon uneven cell phone that cross and in exchange. This is what you see in. Second Corinthians five point one in exchange he gives us his righteousness that is a mind blow unfathomable that he takes our sin gives us his righteousness but that is white based on him. You will not have Christianity Distri Hannity without Jesus Christ. This is what Paul says when he talks about the resurrection. We are most hideous able if Christ didn't race because our faith would be in need he so this isn't based on teachings grace. This is based on Christ himself so you brought up a very important point in there in that Jesus Christ is fully man fully God. Of course this is. The teaching that we know is opposite again. I remember whenever I was first being introduced to you years back. I can't exactly remember how I come up on the video on youtube but there is a video of you you're dialoguing with a Jehovah's witness and one of the waist you started out was cannot tell you why Jesus must be God but in doing so you also explained why he had to be fully man and the explanation that you gave to the Jehovah's Witness it just blew my mind because I think he was at that moment dared that are it really just clicked with me because I was coming out of the Prosperity Gospel at that point so it just kind of clicked with me that this Jesus said. I thought that I knew I didn't know anything whatsoever. And I want us to dive a little bit into that particular doctrine. And we're going to do that right after this quick break. Hey Tom Daryl them. Here's my wife. Karen we're the host of the. What are we even doing podcasts? The podcast that seeks the answer. The question that we All asked what are we even doing here. We cover topics such as marriage family life and living a Christian life in this crazy world. We don't have all the answers. But we know where look subscribe to us on Itunes and follow us on Soundcloud as we seek the Kingdom of God and find out what we are even doing here. Welcome back everyone to the five. Solas podcast is your host James Walk Instill here with the Great and incredible Andrew Rappaport doctrine repent of that gets. I should repent of that right. Lord please forgive me you know that is not correct. Audi was well before are we went on a break. We were talking a little bit about the hypothetic union. We're about to move into that. And I made mention of a clip that I had on Youtube. Why Jesus Christ Must Be God? And Luckily Andrew or providential I guess is the correct terminology to us here found the the clip and I want to play. This is about four minutes long but it's very very rich and I think that we need to dive into it so much as Andrew to play that really quick and just remember that this is outside. I'm doing open air so the audio is not going to be the best. Why Must Christ Bhagat? That's question that gets asked. You hurt here it is. Here's the question. Why did Jesus Christ have to be? That's an essential thing of Christianity which what makes crochet given every world religion. This is why it's essential every single. One of us have violated God's law. God says that all liars will have other place in a lake of fire which burns bribes. dotes call the second death. There's only one or two ways to paint eternal fine we can pay for off aww attorney or Turtle God compared once in time and how to count for all eternity. Why because he's an eternal being it's because he's eternal consequence that he paid cares for eternity? Otherwise me personally. I don't even know how many lies I've told so for me to pay for my first one. I'll never finish in the first one to pay the second one while reasons why can't pay for someone else maybe want to be a perfect person. Never violate God's law and you'd say well. Hey I'm perfect but you only be able to pay for one other person's penalty in time you because we're not an eternal bane. got being an eternal being can pain eternal fine care for all time. That's why Jesus Christ had to be gone but he couldn't be just God you and i. He had to be a man. We can't go to a judge in a human according to say your honor. I know I got six months in prison. My poodle will do my my time. The Guy got judge doesn't work that way but one of us can pay a find someone else but we have to be human. Jesus Christ was God. Almighty became a man for one purpose. He did certainly could die in our place. Being God he capanna ternal fine being Amana could pay for you and I that is why we can have salvation. That's what makes Christianity different than any world religion because every other world religions based on works that we would do. Work will work against us. God will actually George's underfire balking. The name of the book is the Book of Works. There's two books they gotta hasn't happened the last book life and the book works. Our Name is in and one of those books in aware. Been Forgiven by God. Because he's made the payment for us and our names in Lamb's book alive or Our Name is in the Polka works and it's very works that we're going to be judged by. We often think our works are gonNA count for good. But here's a way of thinking of it if you had a father who takes on fishing and small. Hey I don't want you to go to lower part jetty because it's dangerous down there with the son. Being typical son does believe that. Says you know what I really WanNa get some fish for dinner. I want my family. I'm going to go look jetty when he gets down. There and alligator whips excalibur knocked the kid in the water. The kid doesn't have swim. Will Dad dies in the water. He grabs the son. He starts swimming into shore all of a sudden the alligator rips boss. The father's legs off all the energy we've ever the as left as a senator blading craigslist under shore. Son Says Hey. Thanks Dad but I really they WANNA make sure. I had some fish for dinner. I'm going to go back to Johnny. That would be disrespectful. Why because a father just gave his life to save the sun and the sun sample look.

That I have on my docket and then you do a lot of travel on top of that so I mean do you. Do you have more than twenty four hours in a day and is that is that a part that comes living in Jersey or no. There's no perks the thing is is. I don't sleep so I get more done in a day than I guess most people. So you brought up the Christian podcast community and the episode that we just did with James D White on the topic of solar vide. We talked about the Christian podcast community a little bit and just a not necessarily the fact that I mean there are a lot of podcasts. That are coming available double with the podcast community. But it's not really so much a boast about the number of podcasts that we have by the quality of the content that is coming from the community and I really and truly enjoy being a part of the community owls I was blessed to be the I guess the the first Guinea pig. I guess that's the way to put it But Andrew was on with me today and we are discussing. We're continuing our five solar series here and today. We are arriving arriving at Solis crisis. Christ alone it's pretty big one. I think we're doing so script Torah. Oh no wrong wrong. Calendar now actually. I'm very excited about doing solo script or and to answer your question. The reason why that one can go I We're talking about a little bit last week. The person that I'm doing solo script horror with we could just never get the scheduling right in order to to get done. Dr Melissa Melissa said that must be. It is not the good reverend this not. It's not I don't I don't want to give away who it is very very sound brother in Christ you knowing the other James White No he was just last week but I might go knocking on his door again pretty soon but today we arriving at the teaching of Christ alone. Chrysler is really intrusively a dagger to the heart of the factory of idols men make that deviates from the all sufficiency of Christ and. I'm assuming that is why you really wanted to. Whenever I asked in the podcast community Rudy facebook page? I was just asking who do what and I'd like to do. Christ like okay. I wouldn't mind I wouldn't mind that ear. That's that's pretty easy one but further for the listeners. Out there whenever we are talking about the teaching of Christ alone. What exactly is it that we are meaning whenever we you say this year well let's put it in its historical context because this is something a lot of people don't know to do is we have these doctrines we know does him today and we we unfortunately removed them from their historical context that they were formed in and then we start picking at them so in its historical context? There was a battle going on started actually with Hus John hus but later with Luther Calvin Alvin others willingly. The issue was and you see this a lot with us arguing and then more so with Luther. When he's he's arguing with the Catholic Church Catholic church had corrupted the doctrines that we see from the early church? Fathers and in that they're adding tradition. They're adding the church. They're adding their own authority so the Catholic Church meaning the magistrates. The the leaders are are the ones that can give grace can bestow this on people and actually give salvation so now you have this issue issue. Well where does salvation really come from. So when we say solar script store a Sola feed we say all these Sola Chris dos. Were Shang Chang alone Christ. Meaning it's not Christ and the church. It's not Christ in Majesty Him It's not Christ and your works. This is essential to the Gospel. Because this is what's going to separate every single man man made religion and the divine religion that God established every man made religion every single one of them. Hinduism Buddhism Islam the Second Temple Judaism which is different than Old Testament Studio Roman Catholicism. All of those they all have some element of human effort every single one of them. Even if it's the Catholic church where they're going to say it's faith plus works if it's mormonism. It's grace after all you can do. If it's Islam it's one good deed counts for ten bad deeds if Second Temple Judaism. It's doing Tara obeying the law. All of these have human effort and Luther said no it is Christ but it's not just Christ it's Christ alone.
