"Let's let's talk about this going back to the atlanta l. a. series. The scores have been low and so the red sox have scored nine runs in tonight's game so far and the houston astros have scored three runs and we had like a nine run total so sunday night. Yes sunday night. The score is five to four saturday. It was three to two totally. That's where we've had. We've had twelve runs tonight. Is this a difference between the american league. And the national league's data simple as as we talked about last week. I think it is i think so. That's pitching versus offense. And that's when we get to the world series. It's going to be way better. Because we're going to be able to see these like opposites attract thing happening in yang especially since like right now. It looks like the red sox cannot be stopped so it braves can do it. I don't know they've slowed down that dot that dodger breathing good. That's what i'm saying like it. And at this point you gotta wonder if the braves have what it takes to be. La it's It's the unstoppable. Object against an immovable. For unstoppable force against the movable object. Yeah right that's exactly right. Yeah it'll be fun to watch. I'm excited for it. Really excited for. It's also a little bit depressing because baseball is coming to an end. And then we have to address the cba. Yeah you know like it's it's like. I don't want to call it the elephant in the room. But it's like that chore that you have to get done that you've been putting off all day long then finally the end of the day or like i can't go. It's like making your bed after you. Wash the sheets. Yeah yeah. Don't wanna put the sheets back on because the pain. He can't get bed till you do it. A perfect analogy has the perfect. You know what the solution to that is right for life..

"Have home field advantage because they won the terrible east yellow but unlike size. Yeah exactly unlike the white sox. The atlanta braves are crushing it. They're rising to and extending beyond the occasion every single time. The and it's it is awesome. It's been a lot of fun to watch because this series has been. I mean it's been blow for blow right. I mean oh man where you talk about. Boxing i it seriously like right. Cross red cross uppercut uppercut like hook hook. It's been back and forth the entire time when one team goes ahead the other team responds. There's a reason it's been tied it in the ninth inning of these games because they're gonna blow for blow for each other and it's the last team up to the plate is gonna win and i hope it continues in los angeles because i would love to see more walk-offs doubt well in a walk off a way for atlanta would be exhilarating. But i do have to be honest. I need them to lose one game in la. Oh so they come back to. Yes so i can go see him in game six. They'd have to lose. They'd have to lose your right. Yeah to. I almost went both nights. But i just couldn't work it out anyway. I if they come back this saturday if they lose two games in l. a. And the back saturday. I'm going well you know. What break If they do they do in sweeping or only losing one. I mean you've got a world series. Exactly yeah you're right. Of course. I don't know what tickets for the world series would be but right now there are between one fifty and one seventy five a piece. You might want to sit down. Yeah you might need to double. It might need not go that price but whatever are inaccessible prices. That's we call that prohibitive. Yes it's ridiculous is what it is but no it's been. It's been an awesome series. If you haven't watching this like turn it on it's been on. Tbs find a way. Find a way to watch real. It's good and here's something else to is. The max scherzer. so max. scherzer didn't have his typical outing. He gave up a home. Runs gave up some hits. A home run sunday night. But he said he's pitching through a dead arm. You just they're like. Are you having like promises. No it's just tired.

"Is the here. Here's the group he's hanging out with ty cobb lou. Gehrig jimmie foxx kirby puckett and now kiki hernandez pretty good company. I'd say the previous four dudes are all in the hall of fame and this is the thing. That's it's funny. as. I don't know the kiki hernandez is gonna get in the hall of fame like i don't always sixteen years into his career long time to get hot like this but that's that's pretty good longevity but this is the thing is with this guy he he does this in october. He's never been this hot no. He's good in october. He's all right in the regular season but if he did he did this during the regular season we'd be talking about him up with like mike trout show. Bt's that's exactly what answer level of play. He's putting up right now. Well and i think he's outperforming guys like mike trout like. Let's be honest and not because he injuries but mike. Trout doesn't have the stage. He doesn't have the backup. He doesn't have the security the kiki hernandez being afforded by other guys on staff Yeah it's not his the thing too. Is that mike. Trout has three postseason games under his belt. And i don't know that he's done anything with them. Let me see if i can find them real quick like this. I know i know he's never wanna pro season game. That's a big thing that that's something. Actually the people hold against him He is one four twelve with one home. Run that's it a solo home. Run three walks to strikeouts in the postseason is. Oh i'm sorry keith. Hernandez seven years in the league. Sorry eyeball junkie. He's been at sixteen series in all. That makes exactly what it is. It's sixty five postseason games in seven year career. Yeah that's a lot in games on. He played a big role with the dodgers last year for sure last year a long time. Yeah i mean he. He was a big big part of the reason that the dodgers made as far as the last four years yet. Anyway let's go talk about or season by the way. Just okay ground on that out okay. Let's talk about Atlanta and la elo. This series has not only gone backwards. From what i thought it was gonna be but it's also been way better than i thought it was going to be so wait. Houston is exciting. Because boston's hit all the home runs. All the home runs in the american league seeing right yes exactly but atlanta has walked off the dodgers twice into games. Yeah twice two games now in the ninth by the way not. They're not all extra innings. Okay yes not in the seventh or eighth inning. There definitely walking up but like it's not an eleven games are not going long. They're walking off their first chance. They've got that is funny because There was there was some talk. About how like all my gosh. You know the the dodgers one hundred six games in atlanta only one eighty eight. There's no there's no reason for atlanta to have home field advantage blah blah blah. It's like well no you gotta win your division and that's the emphasis right there right like you can be a wildcard team. Get in but all it means that you're in you don't get any benefit. Besides continuing play that atlanta one eighty eight games..
Astros score seven two-out runs in the top of the ninth to seal ALCS Game 4 win

"Is this a spot? Is this a spot for him? I don't know. Just consider that, but Brian Butterfield has worked in the Igor organization in the past. He's worked in many organizations. He has one consistently, he has been one of the league's better third base coaches. Is that somebody you want to hand the keys to you? After a season of struggle after a weird Phil Nevin year, art is Aaron Boone's bad cop gonna be a bench coach now. Are we gonna dismiss Carlos Mendoza? Do we need the bad cop to be a third base coach or can we just bank on experience? 'cause I really do like Butterfield and I feel like adding him to the coaching staff would be nothing but beneficial. Also, John Sterling, beloved, we all love John Sterling. Rumor has it is gonna take on fewer games this year, moving forward for WFA and his legacy was complicated a little bit moving forward by the fact that he was not allowed to travel to road games for most of this year. It magnified his struggles, it amplified them and made us feel weird. The fact that he was looking at TV monitors and not looking at game action led to Sterling's trademark it is high as far as caught occurring more often than ever before. The Giancarlo Stanton play, much like the Phil Nevin send around third in the wild card game. The Giancarlo Stanton blast that wasn't a Homer that was called a Homer that embarrassed everybody and he said, what did I do wrong? He's on first. That didn't feel good. The less Sterling I guess the better if he's going to be cotton situations like that. But it still does feel like the end of an era, I'm not ready for it. I'm not willing to admit that it's time to move on from John Sterling and so seeing that admission on Monday morning on the old New York Daily News or maybe the post it made me sad. I just want to still say that a lot of people who think John Sterling is the worst and is a curse and is the worst thing to ever happen to Major League Baseball. Have never lived a full season with his calls and had ever lived and died with his voice. He is the voice of Yankee summers. And he always will be. So you take the good with the bad and if it's gonna be less John Sterling, we've already said goodbye to Ken singleton. It doesn't feel good. I will sign off today. Mini pod, little pod, Thomas back on Wednesday, don't you worry about it. He's gonna be handling solo dudes on Friday. I will be in Los Angeles, California, too late to watch. Dodgers, bummer for me. Anyway, before we sign off, the Red Sox and asters are still playing. I feel like I have to mention it. I said before the series, this was going to be one massive blowout for the Red Sox one massive blowout for the Astros and a bunch of 6 5 games and it was who's gonna be hitting during winning time? Who's gonna be performing?.

"Adam Weiner, Thomas Karen auntie is on assignment today. He refuses to work during the Astros Red Sox ALCS. That's not true. He'll be back on Wednesday. But for now, you've got me and we're talking playoff baseball a couple of moves in Yankees universe. This will be a quick one. Not a lot has changed since the Yankees dismissed all of their coaches on Friday, but we're gonna be talking about Corey Seager, what we're seeing why it's concerning socks astras who's got the advantage and a couple of recent moves that might affect Yankee universe. Make sure to find us on Apple podcast Google podcasts, Spotify wherever you get your podcasts, drop us a 5 star review along with the mailbag question will be more than happy to answer it, but honestly, I can't imagine that you really have a mailbag question that you formulated over the past week, considering the data points have not changed. Marcus Tim's gone. PJ pilota, gone. Phil Nevin unfortunately gone, unfortunately just because we love the fire he brought, he had to go based on what we watched in October, but then again, recalibrate your expectations slightly because Sunday Night's game game two between the Dodgers and braves. There were two moments in that one that really have you scratching your head if you're a Yankee fan, both because of the future and the recent past. Number one, the Ron Washington send in the 8th inning of any Rosario who got around the tag at home scored by a fingers length around the throes Steven Susan junior from right field that was not very strong. That send was remarkably aggressive was the reason the braves won the game because ultimately they were able to tie and then they were able to walk it off and it was also barely different from what Phil Nevin orchestrated at Fenway Park in the wild card game. As much as you may not want to hear that it wasn't a terribly different scenario from what directly led to Nevin's firing Washington got lucky. Sousa's arm isn't great, that play was not made on multiple fronts, even an average right Fielder probably throws him out there. A lot of things broke in Washington's favor, Nevin challenged the Red Sox outfielders, the Red Sox outfielders dominated the Yankees end of story. Of course, we know that Phil Nevin wasn't fired because of one play at the plate. It wasn't just the Aaron judge play. It didn't help his legacy that the season basically ended when the momentum from the rest of that ending was blunted by the air and judge play. But it's 22 outs at the plate this year. I mean, that's unconscionable. There was a lot of data to work with from Phil Nevin. It basically indicated this maybe ain't gonna work out at third base anymore..

"Got to tackle Monday Night Football. Gotta tackle the ALCS. Let's dive in first with this matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans in Nashville as of this morning, Titans getting 6 points at home on Monday night a total of 53 and a half so a rather high total with two offenses that at least ostensibly can put some points on the board. I mean, I was on this bill sign for much of this week. It was -5 and a half -5 for much of the week and it's now been steamed the bills to a key number of the buffalo lay in 6. And since it's gotten there, I'm actually gonna pivot to the Titans. At plus 6 or better for the Titans, I will play them at -5 and a half or lower I would side with the bills or right now we see plus 6 for the Titan. So I'll give them a shot in this situation. They're getting Julio Jones back. AJ Brown should be about as healthy as he's been all year and Derrick Henry's been an absolute beast. On the other side, the bills look like they could be the best team in the National Football League. There's no doubt about that. And they've been awesome since that week one slip up at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, I wonder if this is a slight letdown spot for them. They just beat Kansas City in prime time last week. Now it's another road prime time game this week and not that they, you know, don't consider Tennessee a capable opponent, but I have to imagine that they're more that Kansas City was more of a barometer for them, especially given the fact that KC knocked them out of the AFC championship game as season ago. So I wonder if they just circled that game a little bit more than circling this game and now that it's gotten to that key number of 6 in favor of the Titans in terms of how many points they're getting. I'm gonna pivot to the tight side. Certainly wouldn't be shocked at all if the bills do win and cover this game. But I think the Titans is the right play, given that situation and the spread that we're now getting. As far as some props, Anita's not here, I apologize won't be quite as extensive for boys and girls out there who loves me the prop game, but I am going to look at that buffalo side because we know pretty much how buffalo is going to operate, introducing or reintroducing Julio Jones gives me some pause on the Tennessee side because you want to feed him. You want to get AJ Brown going and of course you got to get the big dog Derek Henry eating. I think they'll score decently, but don't know where the production is going to come from. We know in the buffalo side, it's going to be Josh Allen. So I'm going to play him over 292 and a half passing yards against a secondary like Tennessee. I think 300 should be kind of the the floor, the baseline, given how many times the expected to throw the ball passing attempt profit is 38 and a half. I would consider playing that over, though, I certainly like the yardage prop a lot more at two 92 and a half. I think he's gonna end up with a total it has a three in front of it, not a two. And Manny Sanders, surprisingly, Manny Sanders has been a guy who has actually played more snaps and pretty much run as many routes as Stefan Diggs who was the number one receiver in the NFL last season. So since Sanders has lower thresholds, I found a reception prop at four and a half for Manny Sanders. And it's a plus money plus one 15. Now Diggs prop. His is plus money well as well, but it's 7 and a half. So again, digs is a guy. I'll never discourage you from betting on. I'm just pivoting to Sanders here because he's out there as much as digs. Even though it doesn't have quite the target share, the opportunity exists in terms of route runs and snaps. And it's a much lower threshold of four and a half, so at plus one 15, I'll play that alongside the Josh Allen passing yards prop over two 92 and a half. So that's all I'm looking at Monday Night Football. Let me get to game one of the ALCS. What a, what a thriller we've seen so far in the NLCS with the braze recording to walk off wins at home to take a commanding two O series leaders. That series now pivots to Southern California and LA. Don't the Dodgers are out of it by any stretch of the imagination. But as far as game one tonight, I'm going to take the small road dog in the Houston Astros plus one O one on the money line against Eduardo Rodriguez and the Red Sox Rodriguez good pitcher, the real life picture. Especially when he's been at home, but this Astros offense ain't nothing to mess with, okay? Especially against left handed pitching this season, they have the second best betting average in baseball. The second best on base percent is the third best slugging and the fourth OPS, all those stats against left handed pitching this season is where the Astros rank. And if you looked at how they handled, left handed pitching in that matchup, they had in the a LDS, they more than held their own. That well above 300 with an OPS, I believe above 900 in their ALD S series. So I think the Astros are hot. I think they're playing great baseball, they're healthy and they're line up specifically is so capable of doing damage against lefties, even the lefties in their lineup. Michael Brantley hits per day average against lefties. Your Donald Alvarez can do significant damage against lefties and then they have Altuve Correa, all those bats, Bregman from the right side that have the platoon advantage. So as a small dog, I think that's just the better value of the better price. I'll take the Astros plus one O one on the money line, even though the Red Sox have just answered every single call at every single point in this regular season and now postseason. I just see a better price on the Astros and a good matchup for them against what a Rodriguez because they like hammering against left handed pitching. "I don't think there's anything even really talk about here, but before we dive in, I'll obviously ask you how you feel as well. We can talk it out. We can add the debate. But Lance mccullers junior sounded like somebody who's gonna pitch in this series after Tuesday's game four. To be fair. But he was scratched with forearm tightness. He's the Astros best pitcher at this moment without him, the Red Sox road to the 2021 World Series could be through Shane bars, drew Rasmussen, Colin McHugh, Jose or kitty, Jose Garcia, framber Valdez, a Christian Javier Zach Greinke hybrid. What the fuck is that? It's insane. It's absolutely, and the way that Greinke's last month of the season unfolded. He was on the cover of all he came back and made two starts, then went back on the IO and then was only able to throw a bullpen ses because it was the end of the year. So he's probably not going to be able to fill him into the rotation. And if he does, I don't see him going like four inning seems like his max at this point. So the Red Sox if the colors is out, the updates don't sound bad. I think the coaching staff weighed in on it yesterday and think that he should be fine. But getting a forearm tightness to diagnosis right before the ALCS is supposed to begin on Friday is just classic bullshit Red Sox look. And this is why this team pisses me off because like we talked like I talked about on the last episode, hilarious. Absolutely fucking hilarious how the Yankees run into the race. Look, the Yankees should have got the job done against the rays last year. I'm not making any excuses. Blake snells on that good. But no, but they had Blake's now. They had Charlie Morton. They had Tyler glass now. I know they battered Tyler glass now. I know they they handle Blake Snell too at some point. But that was and then the race had a beast bullpen that year too. So if you have pictures that can actually give you length and then you have a bullpen behind it, that's worth something. That can at least be competitive. The Yankees when faced with competitive situations usually lie down. So the Yankees get that version of the raise. And then the Red Sox get this version of the raise, which, yeah, a 120 very good, but starting rookies in games one and two, and then a hybrid pitcher and game three and then Colin McHugh and other hybrid pitcher in game four, like give me a break. I'm never gonna forgive Brandon Lau, either. Like we can't over 18 but 9 strikeouts in the LDS and he beat the shit out of us with three home runs in like ten RBIs in the final fucking series of the season. This is what we're complaining about. The Red Sox are not as good as the raised, but the Red Sox didn't get the raise. They got Brandon low getting no hits in a four game series..

"I am not saying he's going to be the centerpiece of a deal right now, but why instead of Anthony volpe or Oswald peraza, why wouldn't you glom pitching prospects onto Luke Voight and tried to turn that into a trade? And again, this could be Clark Schmidt and peraza, I would keep one of Opie or peraza. That's sort of where I fall right now. I would do I would do peraza Voight and Luis heel for mattson. Yeah, I would do a number of things. I would go as far to say that you don't even need to include prospects if you didn't want to. Look, what if you, what if you packaged Luke voigt and glaber Torres? What if you packaged Luke voigt Joey Gallo in like a top ten maybe one top ten prospect? What if you did Luke Roy Aaron hicks in 8 half Aaron hicks his contract and gave them a center Fielder and then, you know, popped in popped in somebody else. It doesn't have to be a prospect heavy deal. I also don't think that's cheaping out on I don't think that's trying to screw the a's over at all. I think Aaron hicks may have some good years left. It's just not working out here and it's a liability for the Yankees at this point. I think they sour the relationship with Luke Voight. He can't be here anymore. They disrespected him. They traded for somebody else. They didn't get and then that other person went on the COVID IL, Luke .1 AL player of the week and then they benched him for essentially the rest of the season. Gallo Gallo seems like a guy that age would love to have versatile defensively, lefty power bat, played in the AL west. I'm can't believe we're drinking Joey Gallo. I laugh every time we talk about it. I mean, yeah, I mean, I laugh in a sad manner because this was a great, this on paper was a great move to help us in 2022 and how I just don't understand where he fits on this team. If you're not going to play him in center field. So I don't want him in left field. The Yankees shouldn't want him either. And they play tourists..

Spagyrics, Ancient Medicine for the Modern World
"Hey, there everybody a popham here founder of the School of Evolutionary herbalism and welcome to our new issue here on the blog and You know there's something that I've been thinking a lot about lately I've just been kind of looking at the state of the world and at everything that's been going on you know within the whole political thing and all the stuff going on culturally and just with all of especially with all the fires that we've been having out here on the west coast it just feels like things are really heating up literally on planet. Earth right now and I've just been thinking about. US As human beings and our relationship to nature our relationship to the earth and the healing that is required of all of us right now as human beings and how the practice of herbal alchemy or. Six has this what I see as great power and potency to bring healing to the people at this time in a way that I see is really required and one of the things that I've been looking at and kind of thinking a lot about. This dynamic of separation, and that's a critical component of the specific process is the process of separating out the principles of a plant in the ways in which they're prepared ALC- chemically and looking at our culture and thinking about human beings and where we're at in the world right now and seeing that there's this course separation. In our culture that I think is really at the root of a lot of the problems that we're facing on the earth right now and I think that core separation is this illusion that I would say a majority of human beings on the planet are carrying that thinks that we're separate from nature it. I always like to talk about the difference between you know the world and the earth, and it's like the world is everything that the human beings have created from our minds if I just I live out here in the country. So I'm kind of surrounded by nature and trees and plants the earth that every time I go to a city it's like, wow, you know it's kind of overwhelming in a way being surrounded by all of these manmade objects that are human made. It's that ultimately are arising out of the human mind. It's like the world is the human mind made manifest whereas the earth is something greater something greater than US created the earth you know thinking of the way the elements are in the way nature is and how you know obviously, we didn't create that we're in we're a part of that but we've created this world that has separated us from nature into me. This is one of the core. I would say this is the core fundamental. Issue that we're facing on this planet right now and this separation this delusion that we carry that were separate from nature. I think is behind a lot of the major issues that we're facing and because of that course separation that it secretes the these deeper layers of separation within ourselves where. Our mind is separated from the heart. Our intuitive faculties are separate from our rational mind you know in our culture, you know or science is separate from our spirituality, and in that way, we create this world that is separate from the earth and to me the goal. Of the healing that we need to do at this time is individually within ourselves to heal those splits inside of us you know to heal those splits between our heart and our mind our body and our spirit. So that, we can become integrated unto ourselves and when that happens on a large scale, I believe that we have this ability to create a world that is a reflection of the earth that we can create a way of living a holistic way of living on this earth that is integrated into the natural ecosystem. That is guy right. That is this planetary intelligence that we live on and in order for that to happen though I believe that there's Deep levels of healing have to happen within human beings. Right and to me that healing is far beyond our bodies right that we need a healing in our minds and in our hearts and even down to this soul level healing. We're able to heal ourselves in a way that reintegrates ourselves in our consciousness and the way we live our lives into that intelligence of nature to remember that we're a part of nature and that everything that we do is impacting the earth

Trump says will 'strongly consider' testifying in impeachment probe - but would it ever happen?
"Back to the daily DC. The Impeachment Watch I am Zach Wolf. Alex Marquardt is still with me. And we're pleased to welcome CNN. Legal analyst Michael Zeldin. Thanks for joining us. Michael my my pleasure to things kind of interesting happened this morning number one Responding to Nancy Pelosi from over the weekend Donald Trump president trump suggests that he could be Willing to testify or at least to give written testimony to the impeachment inquiry. He said essentially to move it along so the Democrats could get something done for the country. That's thing thing one thing too. Is the house. Democrats made clear that they're investigating now. Donald Donald Trump and whether he Lied to Congress essentially As part of the Mueller investigation when he offered written testimony or answered questions wins in writing for Robert. Muller in this part of They're a lawsuit to get hold of grand jury Documents and testimony any from the Muller investigation this now ties into the impeachment investigation. It's all meshing together but these two things about Donald Trump and testifying before Congress which would be pretty much unprecedented I think And number two This idea that he may have said something that was incorrect about wikileaks. Not Leaks and what he knew to Robert Muller what is going on with those two things in your mind so the first thing that comes to mind is my expectation of his qualified offer. Potentially offer written testimony was not something that he cleared with his lawyers and that his lawyers are going to be saying. Excuse me but we don't want to do that. Thank you Mr President. Well he didn't say he was GONNA do it. He said he he's thinking about exactly but I expect he's thinking about it without having first consulted Laura's because I don't think his lawyers lawyers would want him to be offering written testimony so I think that's more of a sort of a hypothetical offer than it is a real offer second second with respect to muller the the question and answer that has been raised as a possibility that the president offered false testimony before before Muller in his written statements relate to whether or not he recalled conversations between himself and members of his campaign who themselves may have. I've been interfacing with Ricky wikileaks or whether he had any direct contact with a representative of what of wikileaks. And the thing. I forgot to mention this. Roger Stone found guilty on Friday essentially of trying to sabotage congressional investigation With regard to to wikileaks right so so the lawyer in me says says if the question is asked did you have any contact with a representative of wikileaks. He can answer no to that. Because none of the people who allege allegedly told him anything about wikileaks I would definitely meet the term representative of wikileaks. If he had spoken he would have spoken to. Julian assange essentially For that question to be ally The way he answered now with requests with respect to the question of whether or not his failure to recall whether he had conversations with anyone on his campaign. Am Pain regulated. He he didn't say no he said I don't recall talking to anybody. Don't recall is what his answer was. And that's a smart legal answer and expectation Asian. Is that the documentation that was presented by the White House to Muller contains no indication that the president spoke to anybody on his campaign about wikileaks leaks and so he has the opportunity to come back and say well. Now you've refresh my recollection. Yes indeed I remember speaking to Roger Stone in the car and it was overheard by whomever so I think it's a very difficult prosecution to make. However the appearance that the president is unaware of his interest his own interest which he on on the campaign trail repeatedly touted wikileaks? I love wikileaks. We Russia if you're hearing me. Please release her emails. All is wikileaks. centric in a sense. It's SORTA strains credulity to that. He didn't remember this stuff. But as I said when you ask a lawyer whether or not. This is actionable as a law case case I think it's probably not what about this Offer so to speak that he would be willing to testify in Congress in the impeachment inquiry which actually got a laugh last week During one of the hearings when when Peter Welsh Congressman Walter Democrat brought it up and say you'd be most welcome to sit down is is that another one of these. Is the president just floating something for the sake of it. That almost certainly won't happen. What my recollection of that QNA was the Republicans skins. Were saying the person who has firsthand knowledge the whistle blower a person who they first accused of having only secondhand knowledge but now all of a sudden he has firsthand knowledge. They said the person that we want to hear most from whistle blower because he knows the most and then well said well actually the person who knows the most is the president and he's welcome here anytime he wants. And that's what the left in my expectation. Is that the the likelihood of the president showing up in person raising his right hand to swear to tell the truth before that committee Mitty is not likely. So you've told us about the importance in lawyering Somebody like president trump to give wiggle room in testimony. I don't recall Paul as opposed to I don't or as opposed to know We have somebody we have a real life example coming up with Gordon. Sunland who actually didn't recall recall Some very important things with regard to the impeachment inquiry he had his memory jogged at least one time and then subsequent to that we found out new information mation that About his call. You know the very loud telephone call in the Ukraine Ukrainian restaurant with President trump. So I I guess the question is. Is Somebody like that that in more legal jeopardy or in some sort of legal jeopardy for his the the way he addressed Congress and then had completely changed his story about whether or not there was some sort of ultimatum to the Koreans for military aid. Right so Saad. Lynn says I don't recall then. Other witnesses testified to his direct direct involvement in the thing that he didn't recall and then he corrects the record. And says that refresh my recollection. I now recall. And my testimony is consistent consistent with those others in respect of the homes. Telephone call that was overheard the alcs talked about. He was not really directly asked. That question didn't exactly Give a denial of of that call so he too has room now when he testifies again to elaborate on his prior testimony which I expect that he will do. I expect that he is not gonNa have memory failures like he did in the closed door testimony too much each other evidence out there which links him to this information that if he were to not recall under those circumstances it probably would be seen as a false statement achievement and you can falsely testify before Congress by inaccurately describing your memory as as being faulting so so just to wrap this up for everybody If in in congressional testimony don't say no and if you absolutely can avoid it I don't recall is a lot better. Because it's really hard to prosecute somebody for lying if they said I don't know because your memory can always be shocked. Yes with the qualification. In that there are prosecutions where individuals have said incredulously. They don't recall and that they were the prosecutors. Were able then and to present evidence to say that I don't recall was actually ally and you cannot therefore say with confidence. Just keep saying I don't recall I don't recall and you off the hook because at one point you're alleged failure of recollection is GonNa be tantamount to an affirmatively. I think what what we've done here is tumble into exactly the problem. That a lot of people have with Washington because this is making my head hurt Michael Alex thank you for joining me on the daily. DC The impeachment
The Astros Fire Their Assistant Manager After He Taunted Female Reporters
"The first thing they we all expected from Houston Astros yesterday we we expected to hear from the Houston Astros yesterday regarding Brandon top man the assistant GM I remember his comments in the in the dugout star in the locker room after the ALCS when as he can reportedly kept screaming we're so glad we have soon repeatedly in reference to the the the star in reference to the picture that service seventy five game suspension last year for domestic violence all of that context is important here because he he directed his comments towards three female reporters that were there one of which was wearing domestic violence support bracelet and as you continue to think about what that means what it means moving forward the Astros initially reacted to the statement by calling out the reporter calling out Sports Illustrated and even in it is flat out saying did they were fabricating a story and making something out of nothing that's where it started now I think true window smartly said as we initially reacted to it Hey if this is the thing one thing we can expect is that we will get more eye witness accounts there were a lot of people in the room let's see what other people in the room set well other people in the room immediately came out and feverishly defended the reporter and the Sports Illustrated story that led us to what happened yesterday and look sometimes in the world all you want is an apology that sincere and what you want or for people to come out and explain what happened why it happened and say they're sorry for it without any sort of mitigating factors without any sort of walk back but with actual transparency there was an opportunity for the Astros to do that yesterday they did not this is what Jeff flew now said the Astor GM this is his initial apology announcement yesterday that they fired assistant GM branded top we have separate with brandy top any longer an employee of the Astros his behavior was inappropriate and not representative of who the Astros are in our culture and what we stand for that original reaction by the Astros was wrong and we own it as an organization there were many people involved in reviewing that approving that and I'm not going to get into the details of that it was wrong it was the Astros decision and that's from Italy that so many layers on that to decide by the way that you're not going to get into that but we'll get there in the second part of what he said is our initial believe was based on witness statements about the incident who who did they talk to who lied to the Astros if they're going to say that they were lied to and they're going to blame that on part of why they made the statement initially that they made then some mind it like we have the the opportunity in this moment the right I would say to ask them to tell us who lied and what's being done to the people that live the other part of what he said there is it I'm not going to get into it it was in Astor's decision regarding the statement that was made that means it he's saying several people within the Astros organization had the opportunity to not make the comments in response they had the opportunity to not though the reporter on the bus they had the opportunity to not try to ruin somebody's career and the on the opportunity to not protect somebody they didn't deserve protecting but they chose not to do that and he tells you flat out that several people within the organization approved that decision without telling you who that led to a heated back and forth in the room about who should be accountable this is important check it out you smeared and potentially damaged a person's career shouldn't there be a price paid for the people who decided that that was the idea in the way that Brandon tell me just how to pay with his career I don't know the answer that to be honest with you you run the organ is it you want baseball operations as you now right and I help him crane hasn't come today Jeff I I understand that and and we're we're taking responsibility and accountability for that and apologizing for it at this point that's that's all I can tell you I don't have anything else to give you marry on that I I mean are you taking accountability for it doesn't sound like it it sounds like what you're saying is Hey a bunch of people decided that the initial statement was okay and that's not on me and that's not really my decision I'm just the mouth piece standing up here in front of everybody to talk about it and in the meantime we're sorry that we said anything but we were misinformed me that's what his apology basically is he came in and said Hey we were lied to I'm not gonna tell you by who and so we fired the person that did it and we realize that you know we decided to make a statement that was perceived poorly worst apology ever

win the series in six six four win over the Yankees and there you heard of course Jose altuva going deep in the bottom of the ninth and honestly that is one of those types of plays that I mean how many times is a kid did use to pretend bottom of the ninth two outs and a home run to go to the world series are you kidding me baseball player dreams of and that clip by the way courtesy of our friends at Fox sports one fuck the astros come on the gambling again haven't you Dan I haven't okay I understand Yup took him for the game I wanna be I wanted to the best one I've I like watching I like betting the baseball when I'm watching it as you know at the sports when they're on and so I have pretty good luck at the baseball and fell where I'm where I'm really shitty as the NHL an NFL I don't have much luck for whatever reason and so I wanted to Washington series which was which was in in the MLB anyway took the I got the Yankees last night they were the underdog by plus twenty five so you bet one hundred hundred and twenty-five there slight slight underdog and and Anyway L. to that guy if you're if you bet against them you're just just like what's what's going to happen now he's getting on base Steve got the batted something like three fifty during the series and you just can't believe it when you see the guy all the time that he's that good anyway he's for two going into the top of the night and the tied up with a two run homer and off they go into the bottom of the ninth and altuve aides to run Dinger to to get into the world series and I bet the Yankees Steve you need to stop I know I know a lot of people suggested why don't you cheer for the Washington nationals because that's what the expos became shores I called them the Montreal Expos of Washington or the meows yum yum yum yum yum oh I love that song hey I was reading an article this morning who sports guy a couple of other apps that I look at before we jump jump on to do the show and and I know some guys some guys talking about without too much detail how how baseball is staggering under its own weight right now and and you know almost like the viewership is way down I don't know I I should should like typical me of stories should know more details but this guy talking about like no one's interested in it the same story Steve I hear all the time when playoffs are on everyone always talks about being too long but it's been that way for forever you know and I was reading this article see the headline baseball saves its life again last night after this great ninth-inning you know and I'm reading the thing that's that's no different than any other year in baseball isn't baseball fine you know they're talking about you would you would mentioned about what what's wrong with the juice baseball anyway what's the problem with that at home runs getting dull I don't know and anyway I don't see any different watch the game was great game you know they blow through a bunch of pictures you know this guy's going well imagine seven seven or eight pitchers it to us over nine innings listen you both teams but listen you're Marin it's do or die game for the enke's and almost actively for the for Houston you know that's a lot seven pitchers aside no matter your circumstances that is a Lotta pictures on each side and I know it's a huge game and everything but it's still L. A. Law and you don't it's only the seventh time in the history of baseball in the playoffs where neither starter gets through the the first two innings yeah right no I understand that I understand that but in all last night you know the the two closers who's Oh sooner and Chapman of course his nails right who is absolutely nails as a closer for the Yankees gave up both home runs in the ninth inning but anyway I don't know don't knock it off with trying to find out what's wrong what's wrong with baseball I don't think there's anything wrong with it right okay let's change gears a little bit here Jimmy of course as we're recording this podcast it is election day here in Canada you're going to get out and vote I vote sure good man I gotTa vote I started to tune in this week because I can't wait for the thing to be to be over to be honest with you got back into the podcasting here right him I'm not a big social media guy but but you know I'm on twitter at flip around on twitter I watch it and it's just okay on call on the on the you know just the opinion of Trudeau must go you know he's a fake he's a liar he's racist you can't vote NDP interested in the environment. It's it's heinous criminal fuck it's like it's time for you to shut up is my thing that go away like I said I got I got afflicted with with flip and swiping past Thumb Disease Steve soon as I see it swipe swipe nothing funny nothing nothing enjoying nothing entertaining about it and it's the epitome of people on Social Media forcing their opinion down your throat I'm always I mean the the the same take everybody does when I look at the leaders you know have each of the parties not very inspired by any of them but at the the whole system just seems flawed to me like as with any job if you're a first timer on that job he gonNA suck for a while you're gonNA for four years it feels like you're just getting good at it and then like you know all the mistakes you've made his stuff okay those behind me I've got some experience in the role now and dominant position to start getting good at it and then it's like okay half the half the country's going good we want it we want the new guy it's always the new guy and I don't I don't like.

MLB playoffs: What a Game 4 rainout means for the Yankees and Astros in the ALCS
"Six so your mother nature won the battle when it comes to Major League Baseball American League Championship Series no game four on Wednesday that was expected game four is going to happen on Thursday night eight o'clock eastern time on ESPN radio and ESPN at both managers had to speak on in terms of the benefits of a post poll game first AJ hands of the Houston Astros gives everybody if they often have an opportunity collectors cells before gas for changes are pitching a little bit how beneficial it is probably easier to answer after I see how guys perform and how the pitching plays out but I guess it's kind of a wait and see but I does solidify who we starting game for game five without having to go to a bowl game and Yankees manager when it comes to a player coming back that'll be another conversation even though he hasn't been able to go yet I gave you and then the potential option off the bench in the heating situation if we like something so I don't look at it as were entirely twenty four man right now I do believe we have as bad off the bench right now and whether a situation for that arises we'll see but will continue to evaluate the best smartly as we can move forward to do you some Giancarlo Stanton who believes will be another battle of the bands I firmly believe this whoever wins game four will win the ALCS I think the Yankees the win in six I'm not going to back up that prediction I think the day off could help both teams if you the ask George W. pitching if you the New York Yankees get a chance to maybe get a little mo Jo back at the having a bad slow down losing game two and game three either way took the toll the after the better team but I believe were wins game four win ALCS I think with that team is going to be the Yankees may because I picking the winner six I'm not going to back down from the production right after those in seven sticking with the Astros in seven I don't care who wins game four the is starting pitching to me is the key to any post season team surviving in advancing as a great Jim Bob on a one seven kind came the NC double a tournament surviving advancing in M. L. B. post season all about starting pitching to me and the the best rotation the best horses on the hill goes easily with the Astros and wears game seven in Houston if we get there that's it that's the kicker right there for me is if the if the giving gets to Houston and then for the Yankees in the E. if it goes seven that's their long relievers and when they become leverage real relievers when I never heard of that before tonight before you mention that four different stories I read today will leverage really quick what noted is is is is like mold management became part of it and yeah looks at this and everything in long re yeah leave our yeah or just read the verse they haven't had to use on and three more than three figurines all season now you can ask them to go for for the first time ever with everything on the line and you put that pressure on you also we about stress innings right in stressful pitches in well this is a little bit more stressful than they've had to go through the entire regular season so to me it's all about the starting lineup Yankee fans they don't want to hear it but great he has not been good the post season but I got some guy even if you win game forty Riverland there in five then another duty may have to face call Gerrit Cole who is like the modern day version of sandy Koufax right now you've been unavailable since may so he scuffled by his standards with five walks in seven innings that's coupling is scuffling but the Yankees lineup will make you sick awful I don't believe the Yankees are intimidated or afraid of these guys now I agree with that as well then we don't have the Yankees getting in touch with their inner symbols cardinals and the national back like Houston Astros because the national thoroughly intimidated the Saint Louis cardinals that team was beat up on the feet of the metagame for even got started they had no chance of winning that game even they tried to make a comeback at the being now seven nothing I think the Yankees fully believe having a day off would be the perfect a mixer for them to get everything right because there's not a pitching staff that they don't believe that they can't handle no matter how terrific those guys are lander Reekie as well as call he's if it's in the Freddie Coleman Freddie if it's Simmons on ESPN radio Sirius XM channel eighty of the yanks are going to knock a who was sensational the start this series in game four but he doesn't go a third term through the line up because the analytic geeks say well when he goes through a third time in the line up they they're hitting three oh nine if the guys in a groove right you mean the mother figure out what he's tipping or what he's missing in that third time through you have as many brains watching all these stats and in every game figure it out but in this situation may have to knock a is it in a groove you leave him in there but they don't want to do it they haven't done it and now Freddie it's one that drives me nuts you know right you got this guy who's who's dealing through sex you probably because the numbers say so that that drives me insane the Astros don't do that even though there is number geeky is anybody maybe even more so than anyone out there right now to get involved with trying to steal secrets on the cardinals when they used to work for them all about **** now that'll to do holes what two hundred articles on again but AJ Hinch is one of those guys that's also eyeball if you're rolling man you're sticking but I'm a sticking with you so that's why I like it the Astros you no matter who wins who wins tonight I think that that that that night all this postponement favors distros because now you've got green key Enver lander both on regular rest and then you still have even have great he has gone up the skirt a couple times obviously the post season you've got overlander and coal Berlin under in coal you got to win two games I would put my money on those two over whatever the yanks so out in a leverage relievers and then you want to throw at the astronaut I look at it this way by the way we had read Ryan the present Houston Astros he joins earlier on Freddie if it's Simmons he knows exactly how good these Yankees team is and he knows this service is far from over you know I love it it's it's a great great route your current kicks back to fifteen we played in the wild card it obviously seventeen we win the World Series but what what a great seven game series the home team won one all the games and this year we we took four out of seven from home and you know we won three at home they won the first it was the final game of the season that that you know we ended up winning and here in New York and so all of these games get their nip and tuck it's a dog fight and just because we're out to one side does not mean that that this thing is over if it were a cruise control because that team their Yankee Stadium they're stacked we've got arms they've got power they've got great players all over the place cash did a great job with that club together and looking around and got a couple of stood on the bump and that we got you got you can swing it pretty good it was amazing that when the Yankees won game one everybody's like while they beat the daylights out of the Astros which they did in game one no doubt winning seven nothing the Astros win game two in game three the Astros are in control of this series of bacon all on a second control be three one to me yeah two one they're not in control of the service as I was yeah that me it if you're gonna use that tack with the out of being in control is saying that the Astros are in control my god Ian watching the MOB network watch ESPN and others forgot the baseball people on TV and was on radio all many **** how control is there's a two one you'd be amazed how many times I heard that today they got the point us okay I'm I'm not gonna be part of definition sandy with this kind of stupidity going out there get that one game in the series means you're in control no it doesn't I think this thing's going seven it's going to be epic then the only reason I like the strokes is because of what we read Ryan just mentioned there those two horses they've got on the hill Enver lander and cold at the Yankee still have to face what is your major league baseball you need this to go seven the NASA took care of business if you got a potential rivalry like this with the met in the playoffs two thousand fifteen two thousand seventeen and now two thousand nineteen you get a seven game series and now you have a cross country robbery so to speak was not these two teams in the same division or two teams on the same coast you got the big Ole boys in New York City and a good Ole country boys down Houston colliding in the series if you have that kind of heat that you can generate you could potentially have your latter day forty Niners cowboys or paid many versus Tom Brady because you got a big city I got a bigger city without a baseball city when it comes to Houston if his goal seven it could do Major League Baseball a world of good that they could have never imagined and never even had to beg borrow or steal if the Yankees Astros give us and Major League Baseball with the looking
Washington Nationals beat St. Louis Cardinals, finally make it into the World Series
"Dad you don't no matter your political views I think we can all agree there are good things happening in Washington on the baseball field national swept the cardinal seven for win last night first World Series for the nats ever and now they will wait for the Astros are Yankees strokes to game three by four one final yesterday to go ahead in the ALCS and around fielder Josh Reddick and the the expanse tossing debris on the field stuff like that really don't belong in baseball toss up on the field it's kinda disrespectful it's kind of tough to deal with special stuff like that happens but are you doing that you move on the wind here's a bigger statement stay classy

"And Astros resume their ALCS this afternoon and the viral video of a New Jersey toddler celebrating eleven months of being cancer free that story in about twenty minutes a decade after Congress gave the FDA the power to regulate tobacco products like E. cigarettes the federal government has repeatedly delayed or a weekend efforts that could have protected teenagers that's the finding of Katie Thomas reporter at The New York Times Katie explained product info that could be opened may really taken off for the last decade millions of Americans use them and yet never really been vetted by the FDA and when we when we look back on that it it turned out that for ten years the federal government has been trying to address but across to presidential administration well it has done done very little to Rick to rein in the industry well was there a sense that when they first came out that Hey it's just a vapor so go for everybody have at it yeah and there it is kind of a public health let on this which you which led to which has led to some of the delays and into the bin and action will on the one hand we know that cigarettes kill people the count more than four hundred thousand we know that they're dead move that's not in question and so any effort to move people off of cigarettes and on to something else it's going to be attractive to many people and so there were they there still are many people in the public health well she stay even though we don't fully understand that how do you know implications for the figure that we know that cigarettes are bad and it can't be such a bad thing to move and that would I think much stronger earlier in you referenced specific court ruling in two thousand ten that at least one former FDA commissioner I think you talked to said really set the agency back hell so what happened so the E. cigarettes really second showing up in two thousand seven and I think people might remember they tried to really look like cigarettes the record set alight and she we tell the story about how Margaret Hamburg mission at the time and her one to our home just to give her a warning about the need to have that so the F. T. early on they were worried about about these products which and then they looked like a smoking prevention device I'm like I'm looking past the summer my step that with the nicotine patch thirteen undergone extensive clinical trial an analysis of the valuation to determine that you know that'll get help people to quit smoking and in the afternoon product that we're coming on the market where I've been marketed as smoking cessation device it doesn't have the evidence and so we will move to actually and then and then being imported I thank the right no vehicle traffic and get the right product you think that companies and in two thousand ten quite agree with that and basically said you can't regulate the use of the drug which is a much more stringent requirements and then said you should consider the blues are kept back a product and it products under the newly passed lot then the lot was cast into the night and you have this level of of regulation but it's not on the same the same kind of standards that track speak with Katie Thomas reporter at The New York Times or stories called the E. cigarettes one one checked in ten years of FDA in action so it it does seem of I guess obvious at this point that officials are closing the barn door now that the horses of already this gave so now what yeah well I last month and in September you know a couple things came to a head one was the road new survey results that showed that sheen a really paying more than ever more than they ever have been in it open up and up there's bad and then there is a Wyoming new incidence of of illnesses related to the thing to and we put that with the team as well and for those two things have have really raise the alarm on east to raise questions about that September the trump administration so that they will finally act that within weeks to to put an offer for the first he said that sh that and then backtracked on and that they're going to do it still hasn't happened yet Katie that is Katie Thomas reporter at The New York Times twenty minutes now in front.
