"So somebody could ask us that and we'll be like, no, like that. I know what that looks like. They have no idea what it looks like. The suffering and the probabilities are so low. And we just saw that with COVID. With me with a strangest thing that I was asked with COVID is when I had alpha and it was bad. Were you scared? I went, no, it was sick, but I had a 1% fatality rate or maybe two in my age group. I was that's zero. That's not to worry about. If I started going that direction and ended up in the hospital and now I'm at 12%, I think about it. But these are still remote probabilities. People can't they can't do that kind of probability thinking. Yeah, so go ahead. Yeah. So the fourth question I remembered it is really important because this is the one that also has a funny story with it in the book. What do you need to be able to do for living to be worthwhile? And this is a big one because it changes, you know, through your lifespan. You know, if I asked you when you were 30, you would tell me something really different than what you're going to tell me now. I suspect, and so the Doctor Who was talking to a tool go on date about this said that she asked the question to her father and he said, he wanted to be able to eat chocolate ice cream and watch football on TV. And the reason this was so surprised to her, she had never even seen him do one of these things. It's really funny. It's interesting. The point is, don't assume you know what the person's answer is. Ask them and let them just slide. And even if they don't answer the point is getting back to what is palliative care about, it's about helping people, you know, to not suffer, but also to make decisions that fit what's important to them. Like for a person who doesn't want to be a burden, you know, that's a good example of a value that might lead a person to make certain decisions. Another person's value might be to live as long as possible, no matter what, right? Now that's not my value, but it is some people's value. Like if I have a person who says, well, you know, I want you to do everything. I want you to do CPR, you know, no matter what. And what I will say is, okay, that means you're okay with spending the last days of your life in the ICU on a machine. Suffering. If they say, if they say yes, that's okay. Then I know that they really mean it when they say that their value is, live as long as possible, no matter what, you know, there's no point in ever bringing that subject up to them again, because that's a very clear, you know, that's kind of an extreme, but it's very clear. You know, most of us are more kind of in these gray areas where it depends, which is why trying to do things through a living will is so hard because you can't really anticipate every possible scenario. Right. That's right. Well, it's also why you must keep talking to your patients so you can represent what you're understanding of their point of view is when that stuff starts happening. Because that and doctors are afraid to do that and that's, I think they have an absolute categorical ethical responsibility to do that as opposed. And the nursing to nursing is often like in nursing homes and things, they're very scared of end of life stuff. That is part of living. And by the way, I'm so glad to see a surgeon having created this book because I'm so used to surgeons putting me in the worst possible situation, particularly with cancer diagnoses when they have a debulking procedure and they come out and they go, we got it all. Got it all. She joy. We did it. We got it all. And they tell that to the family. You've got microscopic vision. Oh, God. I've been in that situation so many times. It's like, no, and then of course they punt all the patient care to the internist and the palliative care people who are now trying to piece the family back together. I thought they got it all. I thought we had this, and they got it all. No, they got it all doesn't mean shit when you have cancer. Maybe prostate cancer. Maybe skin cancer. Maybe melanoma. That's about it. Everything else got it all doesn't really mean anything. So it's interesting to me. In my lifespan, the culture has been done a lot of in this country. Live like live in the now, live like it's your last day. You've heard those sorts of messages, probably many of us are whole life. And yet none of us ever asked these four questions that people who really are on their last dates needs to answer, and we probably should ask ourselves on a regular basis..

"Vaccinated yet, because vaccine wasn't really ready. And but they went and did everything was out there masks anyway, and they all got sick and then January and February. They're dying. So that was the worst. Worst time. For us, but and now, of course, it's so frustrating because the low vaccine vaccination rates are really bad for the vulnerable. I mean, they're really bad for the people who got vaccinated, but aren't going to get a full response. Traditionally, what predict what protects those people is high vaccination rates. Because it's high vaccination rates that help stop spread in the community. So it's not just about getting vaccinated. It's not just about protecting yourself. It's about protecting others. And that's the thing that I have found very frustrating about the lack of people wanting to not be vaccinated because they say it's a matter of their personal freedom. I was engaged in that point of view very aggressively during alpha and delta. I'm not sure it applies so much to the omicron and its variance because this just breaking through all over the place. And maybe but it still may be less likely. It's still keeping you from dying. Oh no, don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. Get vaccinated. Don't. I mean, the problem is that, right, it's out of the horses out of the barn. And maybe if people had gotten vaccinated back at the beginning, we would have never got to omicron, but we will never know. But that's not what happened. Yeah. And then with omicron, there was the whole myth that omicron was less virulent. Just tell that to the kids, over a thousand kids have died from the omicron variant, because very few of them are vaccinated yet. So omicron is only less virulent if you're vaccinated. Yeah, I've seen a lot of that's an example of a confounding variable. Omicron has been protean in what I've seen it do to people. I've seen it destroy unvaccinated. Young people, and I've seen it hurt unboosted people. And I've seen it be very mild, typically for boost it up, or hybrid immunity. Hybrid immunity in my experience was very good for omicron, which means you had it and you had the vaccine. And that's me. And omicron, and I get destroyed by viruses. So it caught my attention when I had a very mild go of omicron. It's unusual for me. I had H one N one. I get everything. I get everything viral. And H one N one, I assure you, was from my perspective. I was much more, I was sick with COVID. Don't get me wrong. It was a very weird illness. But I was sicker with H one N one. It was toxicity, really awful. And so that was our last pandemic that no one even knows about. That's what I kept saying. You don't know we had one in 2008 or whatever that was. I remember it, 'cause I was an ER doctor.

Eric Welcomes 'God, Caesar and Idols' Author Rick Boyer to the Show

"So I'm thrilled to have the author of God Caesar and idols as my guest, Rick Boyer, welcome to the program. Thank you, Eric. I can't say enough how much respect I have for you and your organization and your commitment to a biblical worldview and the people of God, it is a tremendous service to the church and to the lord Jesus Christ. You're very kind. I think many people listen to this program of course who are not committed Christians who are all over the map. Ideologically. And I think I want to help them understand even why I'm a Christian and why I know that the founders understood there is no way for America to succeed without people of deep faith. And it kind of astonishes me as it clearly does you from the way you've written the book that we have drifted away from this. So before we get into the book itself, you're a constitutional lawyer living in Lynchburg, Virginia, your liberty grad, you said your dad is a liberty grad. What led you a lawyer to write a book called God Caesar and idols, the church and the struggle for America's soul. Well, my background really is in conservative activist politics. That's what's really floats my boat, if you will, and I've done that since I was a teenager. And after the, and I guess I went to law school specifically with the idea of learning the law learning how to apply it to politics. And of course, Liberty University school of law, you get a terrific education and the biblical foundations of American law. But after the 2017 elections here in Campbell county just outside of Lynchburg, Virginia, where I live, watching a elections for school board here in Campbell county, where some candidates were talking about, hey, we need to take a stand against the transgender craziness ideology in our schools and others were saying, no, that's not a big issue. Let's just find more tax money to support more programs. And I watched my community right here in the shadow of Liberty University. "This is that it is very reasonable and should be done is to say, okay, for COVID, for instance. Okay, if you're 70 or 300 pounds or you're a poorly controlled dab at it or let's say you have an autoimmune disease, you're on an immunosuppressant medication. Here's some things that you probably need to do. Now let's say if you're 30, your normal body weight, you have to medical problems. That list of things we would recommend for you to do is a lot less. But we don't, it's like if we try to do that, everybody is like their hair catches on fire, then we just don't do a one size fits all. Well, that's not how medicine works. Right. But when you infect science with politics, that's what you get. And when you start to gaslight the population where it becomes abundantly clear that there are certain things you're being told or not really true in the political leaders say, well, yes, they are and if you don't believe me, then you're just a horrible person and you should be silenced. It doesn't work. We have 2000 years of history to show you that that strategy never works. And I think the vaccine is a great example of that. You know, I think people on the right like myself get this like, oh, you're just an anti vaxxer. Well, no, no, no, I'm not. I am a get it if you want it. And I know some of my staff members have the vaccine. It's not my family as the vaccine. I'm not an anti vax guy. I personally just didn't feel the need to get it again, going back to my original point. I've had COVID twice. I'm a healthy 30 year old for me. That was enough to say, I don't need it, right? Just like I don't get the flu vaccine every year. I haven't gotten a flu vaccine in my life..

Rick Santorum Describes the Convention of States

"Rick santorum, welcome to this program. Thank you, Eric. It is great to be at your side. You are someone that I've known long enough that I do get confused sometimes. I'm trying to think in what capacity did you last have an official position and by what title do I need to address here? Yeah, no, senator was the last time I was elected to anything. I ran a couple of times for president. You might remember. And that's not ringing any bells. Yeah. That's sort of what happened. I well remember a lot about you. And it's a joy to sit next to you. I'm glad you are at the NRB. There's a number of things I want to talk to you about. I want to talk to you about current events, but you are involved in what's called the convention of states. Yes. There are a lot of people listening to this program that don't understand anything about that. If you don't mind explain what that is. I'd love to because about 8 months ago, I didn't know very much about it. I mean, I'd heard of convention states. I knew that it was an issue. But all I knew about convention of the states was that it was a dramatic sort of break glass and pull in case of emergency provision that was included in the constitution and that at least when I first heard about it, I didn't think we were there yet. And candidly, you know, I saw some things happen in the past few years that have really concerned me that we're seeing even more than normal. I mean, I was always because you know I've written books I've been out of the campaign trail talking about the decline in the culture and what's happening in Washington, the increasing authoritarianism in Washington. But we've reached a whole new level. I mean, $30 trillion in debt. And candidly both parties seeming unwilling to be concerned about federal authority or federal spending or anything when it comes to the power that's located in Washington D.C.. And I see presidents, you know, I loved what Donald Trump did. Didn't always like the way he did it. I mean, I think, you know, using executive power and sort of rolling over is something I expected more on a Democrats. I hesitate a little bit when I saw the president Trump. I understand why he did it. The frustration that he had. But I guess the straw that broke the Campbell's back is when actually it was Donald Trump calling for the end of the filibuster four years ago.

"Class and I needed the financial skills because that's what's needed out there. Exactly. Well, one of the things I think financial literacy. You know, you can tell if you're on your lane you're doing the right stuff, especially work wise is what you do it for free. Do you wake up and you're lit up like would I be a voice actor for free? Yeah, yeah, I love it. I love it. Yes. You do it. I do. And I'm in a very blessed, I don't know if you do it for free. For the work that I do. And but I think that I think that, you know, as someone who's had near death experience, you've had some pretty traumatic experiences. Learn, learn from us and others that have had trauma in our lives and understand and I'll say it time and time again, you deserve to be happy. And there's so many people that are changing this all chasing this almighty dollar, and they're not happy. I have a good friend of mine. Super successful, super successful. He's lost track of friends and he's lost track of just happiness because he working so hard and he's doing these multi-million dollar deals and really having an impact in the world and other people. And he's not taking care of himself, and I just got a text from today and he's like, hey, I really mission. I go, yeah, dude. And then he's telling me how he's in some serious health issues. And I'm like, you gotta take care of yourself, brother. You have to take care of yourself, and it's not being stingy or selfish. You have to take care of yourself and a lot of people don't take care of themselves by being in occupations or situations, whether it's relationship with a spouse or what have you, that doesn't honor their life. There's nothing more important than being happy. I want to be happy with my work. I want to be happy with my personal life. I want to just be enjoy all the time. Now that doesn't mean bad things don't happen or things don't work out. But I always think if something doesn't work out, it wasn't meant to work out. And there's going to be something better next. And so when I was trying to get a book deal for my book, the wealthiest spirit that was my first one. And, you know, it was a lot of rejections, a lot of turn downs, but I got a little book called rotten reviews and rejections, all about how really famous people turned down a bad reviews for their work. So it kept me going, I said, well, everybody has this because you put yourself out there are some people who are gonna take a pot to add at you. But my mother taught me this. She called it playing the glad game. Whenever we were disappointed or depressed about something she'd go poor thing for about 30 seconds. And then she'd say, well, let's play the glad game was still good in your life. Well, we didn't want to play the glad game. We wanted pity. We wanted to report things. But no, she said, what's still good? And we go, well, I didn't get the part I wanted in the play, but I did get a part, then there are some people who didn't get a part. And Bobby didn't ask me to the prom, but Steve dad, so I can still go and I got an a on the history of past and Sally's still my best friend. And suddenly you're feeling good again. And I'm telling you, that's the most important trick there is in the universe is to take whatever is crying about it for a minute or an hour tops. And then go, well, one still good. Did you read today? Yeah. You got a place to sleep tonight? Yeah. Oh, then everything is good. Even the point of I'm still alive is still breathing. I can get out of bed. Exactly. Exactly. So it's so important to have that that mindset. So what are some steps that you do to always stay in that moment? I love with your mom shared about being glad. That's a great, that's a great story. I love that. What are some other things you do to stay in that positive space? Well, I do positive affirmations every day about love and money and a happiness and joy and I do about a hundred of them. And I have a list of 14 on my website. And when I was working on getting the book deal, I had an interview with an editor at forest books. And this editor said to me, well, there are some things we think should come out of the book. And I said, okay, like what? And she said, well, first of all, all of the affirmations have to come out. Yeah. Well, this woman isn't publishing my book either. So I was fighting by this time and I said, oh yeah, why do you think that? Because chelly, there's 90s 7 affirmation books out there. I can't go to my 40s salespeople and say we're doing another affirmation book. I said, oh, you think everybody knows this already? She goes, well, yeah. And so let me ask you a question. What are you doing? She goes, I said positive information. So especially about money, specifically, are you doing them? Every day. She goes, no, I'm not. I said then I challenge you here to see what your life is like. So every day and talk to me. You look okay. Yeah. She did him the next time here from hers. Three weeks later, she calls me up. She goes, tell me. I said, yeah. She says, I can't believe what's happening. I'm getting money out of the air. People are paying me off loans. I forgot they owed me. I'm getting a bonus at work. I've never gotten a bonus here before. And I'm getting bigger boot deals. I said you do in the affirmation. She goes every day on the way to work and on the way home and sometimes before I go to sleep, I said, you doing anything else different? She said, no. I said that it must be the affirmations, because I think so. I said, so again, they stay in the book now. She goes, yeah. So the wealthiest spirit is the subtitle is daily. That's perfect. That's perfect for a lot of people right now. I think all of us can use that. I think no matter where you are in your life, finances, just add stress. I mean, the more you have, the more you the more stress you have, the less you have, the more stress you have. So I love it. So you can get those affirmations at Shelley dot com. And it's not the way you would think it would be smell this actually CH E L L IE. Shelley, thank you so much. Oh, jelly. The whole time, I've been saying it wrong. "Because i think they made that very clear but what i am suggesting is that there's endeavor properties roy ireland's grew. I've heard rumor has it that they are doing very well in the bidding process that their their lives that they i know the municipality here is i've talked to them and they're they're very high on roy arnold chander restoring racing here what will do for the municipality because it will be a truly world wide recognized destination for raising given all. That's going to be constructed here. So the problem is that if you if you don't have churchill does not apply for dates next year and there's there's no vehicle in illinois law for a successor older of a racetrack to come in and apply for dates. Which means they would have to have all won you off. Well you know. Steve wynn horses go other places when people make other arrangements and certain people. Just stop raising. You know you have to have that continuity in the simulcasting community and the community and when you lose that he could get off the train tracks if you will it's very hard to restore and and in fact is very horrible. I don't know you know. It seems like everything they do these days and lined her racing and illinois air or or hurt. The people involved in racing idol. No i don't get it. We got an earnings report on going on right now and and people give a damn out there. They should call in and allow. Allow not stand for this. There's no reason that they can't at least allow for racing next year at some racetrack. Some destination for someone dates what the and i have not. I have not had the chance to get roy. Arnold into to kind of frame His conversation and and and and maybe they prefer any way to to work behind the scenes but mike. What have you been the conversation. In terms of the you know the discussions or the approach to how are they being just simply rebuffed Or you know is there. Is there any. Is there any dialogue between Between arnold's group and and cdi. I believe there is You know. I'm not privy to that those types of conversations. But i i do i you know i hear. I hear a lot when you're president of of association like myself but yes i believe they are and and time will work it out. I mean the churchill is soul in control of the bras. come up with almost anything. But there's no denying one thing and that is churchill's commitment to stop any gaming in ireland compared from from competing with rivers. It's the worst kept secret. Now on the way and and that's the part that that is just galling about this because for that we would have gaming ear and and this would would've restored racing do. It's very finest day And instead we find ourselves in a position where the people that i represent all these folks out here on this backstretch all these owners and trainers participating raising during the summertime. Here they're gonna have no place to go next year and so you know. yeah i. we're really. I got people that are just traumatized by those thing. And it's just it's it's so difficult to get your arms around the idea that there could be no summer racing for thoroughbreds in illinois next year. And so you know it the appeal quite frankly is churchill. Come on give these people. These four people shot you know. Let them make a living for crying..

We'll Yeah i think you probably some immigration law but this year we got connections you get referrals from from those firms that makes a ton of sense Sure there's a lot of crossover with the different firms that don't pry some of the things that you do So what is the kind of Gives a little bit about the plans going forward next year five years. Obviously the podcast and you're you're investing in a in your firm in the content and and how you're getting your name out there and how you're you're helping you your potential prospects as well. "If the child support guidelines comes back at twenty thousand a month you might argue okay. He'll pay for college. He'll put some money potentially in a child's trust account you know we want to ask the court to modify potentially downward to meet the child's actual needs which will still be fairly high but it won't be the other parent potentially having a windfall and maybe some of that money's put aside for child you can make the argument that maybe some of the child support's put into a trust that will ultimately be in the child's best interests. So you know whether it's by agreement or discussion with the court that's pretty much what it means by good fortune support case. No that makes sense. I guess that would be a little bit differently but The numbers familiar with so sean. Good question thank you for reading blog. Here's another one from sean. "I'm gonna talk to you about the pros and cons of it so these are some of the things my client faces. My clients may face or someone may face from thinking about coming spin litigation matter particularly and it happens across the board people. Use your surprise. How long the systems can take and how expensive and really how the elements of proving. These things are not. They're not like we know like as practical like hey we know that's true. You know what. I mean. I saw it. You know really not always that simple. It's about evidence and getting the witness. Witnesses doesn't remember what he sees later on. And you know it's a vacuum authenticated so they're awfully surprised by that so i try to make sure they understand that early on what it would have to face going forward. That makes sense. I guess that would kind of lead me to my next question. Is what mistakes do you see. Common lee made a with your client so like you said. It seems straightforward. But maybe they didn't documents up-to-date or have clear evidence of something or were whatever. But what kind of mistakes you see commonly made by the clients while a lot of times. They think that they did document things better than it was so whether they had a contract. That stated what you know what they thought. The terms were Or they have a texas shows that they deviated from the terms. That's often an issue you know And also they take it in. This is personal is our people's lives slide. Sometimes some litigation can be someone's objectively just feels like they're owed money and they want their money back and breach-of-contract some people make it personal on the other side to aggravate you so a lot of times. They can't step back and be objective about really. What's going on to make a decision a lot of times. It's initially based on emotional. This person so for me. They did this. they did that..

So i took that ingrained it with a lot of other things that i learned a long way. I realized that we're energy. And i can be in my face. I can be in your ace elite and change the energy in your story to what it was that he needed. The event in your story stays the same but the outcome of it is not. That's what i home lines. Thank you for sharing. That is so amazing in. It's so powerful. How the mind works in when you really dig deep and learn different different tools how you can change the whole dynamic of everything around you so happy that you mentioned that we were talking earlier and you also mentioned it just now veteran your health. We re just about the mind in everything. So what would you say after finding out all that energy work as in the food. Did you start eating differently. Because i know the food you eat it affects your whole body function. Actually so if you eat john you're gonna put out jump right. So how was that aspect for you in the beginning. I liz working out. I was going to the gym six days a week. I had a personal trainer. I counted my calories and a kept law. And i was doing all of that because i just had my second child and i was trying to release the access way off of my body from year later. None of that change. It didn't matter what i did. I wait was exactly the same. So i changed. Jones change trainers a switch that my diet eating healthy and again another six months. Nothing else didn't change. This is all going on. Well need trying to figure out why they just food right and what happened. Was i stopped all of that. When i realized what was happening in my marriage the anger and just dealt that illinois through that process summer i released forty pounds off my body in three months. I did not go to the gym. I did not eat healthy. And if i wanted a pan of brownies for dinner. I don't recommend today because i felt good. I wasn't under the scrutiny. And the energy of everything else that was going on there was no one there to say no. I couldn't have it. So i felt good about me because i felt that i felt happy because i was happy. The excess weight slowly now to wasn't anything just call. It was the emotional eight that i was putting on to protect themselves from the environment today. How to write e very mindful. I eat healthy when i lived in the australia. Doesn't vegetarians because it was that i discovered from that that my body does need meets. Because there's an amino acid in and certain kinds of red meat that my body needs to have my blood type so i do eat me but i eat it very mindful. Make sure that it's organic grass-fed last and that They don't eat it everyday. Only when my body needs it silas into my body's that these things do i still I try to eat as raw. And our danny is possible in our lifestyle but if i start i'm going to have something to enjoy because i treat ranch of dairy anymore and Brad i do very little gluten or read products but you know. My friend had ripley last night out native whose birthday cake was just monterey shin with moderation so yeah but not in all the time thing so i'm probably ninety ten or eating healthy ten percent the stuff. I probably should not have already. But it's not about always what you're putting in your body. It's about what you're thinking and what you're ceiling while you're eating at this axiom motion. You're feeling because. I remember when i was eating healthy at the gym and all i had stopped and got a salad from him fast. Food restaurant to eat healthy. And that's what triggered my body into the spiral downfall because it was twenty four hours later. We salad not digested inside my stomach. It was a salad and healthy eating but it wasn't the salad. It was all the anger that i had inside of me that he was eating with my salad. So it's how you feel on your eating not necessarily what you're eating. That's a different outlook. Why you type in some of these things. You're going to be seeing things like diet and health. You're gonna see things like essential lyles during the sea thing for vitamins and supplements. You're gonna see things like meditation. You're gonna see all of these different things. All of these things are about do we. You're going to do something to fix the symptom now. Vitamins and minerals to help central oils. Do help meditation else. I talked about it earlier. They all help that. They all don't address the root of the issue to once really underneath that they're treating the surface the conscious awareness which is about ten percents to really make that change. You go to the subconscious percent. Now when i work with someone i might recommend in a special i o or a vitamin supplement to support the work of judy. But it's not rely on this one vitamin supplements twenty four seven because it can stop doing it. S let the root of the problem. The problem sir. Chief ED is true and it turns out that money united gave the home league news for two. He's also voted in the pivotal moments in reverse fixture on in the season. How Old Trafford when the vegetable run ends at forty nine to nil ballot a buffet this is the thing that's always remembered. That's kind of overlooked. That was Campbell who gave away the penalty for first goal although Campbell in true Stahl says it really dived by because he was English it was intelligent play looking for contact anytime. Anyone says anything about the game win us no lost the record about, Oh, I watch these hold on back at home the worst referee guys. All I can think of as Mine Kyanne tried to jump off for. Like nothing else says, says you started talking by what did sell Campbell do did Rooney do what did vanish the Roy Do? Care and jumping all of. That's exactly how more secure would. Of course fair there is a small Palmer is actually looking back now my in Cam was playing in the mid to thousands what yeah, and he was both. The? Thanks but also individual team also played villa rights is. Of the three of those one of them is very. He did a lot of things. I might joke earlier in the day with A. Campbell doing those as invincible and he's Paul off. The will go down in history along with Preston, and hopefully another solid this season as being an English team that goes through season in the top flight without tasting defeat. Cut A more remarkable is we've talked about intense sense about partnerships in previous seasons which actually. So it's good seasons. The way we do this him Kodo, the back that was kind of new job because this season he got rolled out for the full car test drive and safe to say worked quite well. I'm not sure actually colored story a hundred percent very underrated in terms of his influence in English..
