"Once I know that we're both on the same page with that than our conversation usually does change in pivot, and it gets a lot more authentic and raw. Because then we can talk about how. Wants them to go and comfort eating numb because he knows the next day, their competence is going to be down because they feel regret for what they did. And they're going to be held back in shrinking and plain smaller because they don't have that I am a fighter. I HAVE SELF-CONFIDENCE I. Self validated lost all those feelings. And actually open up the spirit realm, and see the warfare that we're in it really does create even deeper faster healing for people. Absolutely absolutely it does, and so that's powerful and you know. Once you once we launch and people here you. How can they access gio? How how they find you? Okay, so everything for me is carpenter one eighty, but you have to spell the number E so at C., A. R. P. E. N., T. E. R., O. N., E. Eight zero, so facebook instagram and my website is www carpenter one eighty so instagram, a lot of fun to me especially on the stories, because outpost different foods that I'm eating during the day with protein. Protein fat and fiber and I tease out on the stories a lot more about the benefits of a hyper diet in terms of it lowering blood sugar, lowering net carb, helping you to earn that for fuel have weight loss without hunger If they want to go to my website for your audience, I seven days free SOS sues on your shoulder, and it's two minutes soundbites that come to somebody's own taxed that sound bite you listen to, and it's meant to rather than. It's meant to give you short little things that you can learn and its consistency over time compounds, so it's of like when we learn multiplication bats. Would all you learn threes in the forest? And eventually you got up to the nines and the tens, but the teacher brought you back to the threes and fours to reinforce. That's what SOS is. All about is beginning to teach, but so the actual learning can happen so that people can lose weight without hunger. They can basically. We're working to clear food. Confusion is what this is all about what it is a protein that when it's a fiber. Fiber and that's a great place to start. It really is. "Unfortunately they're the same residents who are particularly vulnerable to covered nineteen yeah Bob Stephen is with A. R. P. he is joining us on the Cougars live line he is V. P. for care giving and health programs and Bob thank you for joining us first of all thank you for having me come with them so how vulnerable our nursing homes during this crisis they're they're very vulnerable because of the population that that lives there so you look at at nursing homes and if you start there one point three million people across the country those folks tend to be their number one they have underlying health conditions we know that that is one of the risks or or more adverse effects from the corona virus but they're also older baby you know we know that you know if you're over the age of eighty you're a calorie rate from Colbert nineteen is six times greater than the rest of us and of the of the folks living across the country the hundred two thousand in California nursing homes half of them are over the age of eight so you know if you're a family member you've got concerns but it how do you address the most of us you know we can't go to these places because they've shut down do you know any visitation etcetera how can we how can we be sure that our loved one is being properly protected well you you're you're right it's it's it's tough right now you know they're two things you can do try to stay as connected as you can to your loved one I mean they're really going to need that because one of the things that we we really see a lot of is that and for those who are in nursing home they're they're doing how often Mitchell isolated and so keeping up that that communication that connection is really critical and the other is become an advocate for your loved one you reach out to the facility and and work for their safety and their communication so what question should families be asking these facilities especially right now others six questions that we recommend that the families out facilities and some of them may already be provided in which is great but then you know others we we know that it it varies so first question is has anyone in the nursing home tested positive for coke at nineteen that includes resident and staff possibly benders who may have been coming to the facility the second question what is the nursing home doing to prevent infection are they screen staff as they're coming and going and are they trying to to keep president separate who may be infected versus those who weren't third it does nursing home staff have the personal protective equipment and training they need to stay safe and keep their patients safe the fourth question what is the nursing home doing to help residents stay connected with their families or other loved ones during this time fifth what is the plan for the nursing home to communicate important information to both residents and families proactively on a regular basis and in the final question is is the nursing home currently at full staffing levels for nurses aides and and other workers and do they have a plan that they have in place so that if for example workers get sick they can still provide the level of the the need to care that the residents will will require Bob Stephen AARP's vice president for care giving and health programs thank you very much for joining us Bob thank you for having me still no news time is seven fifteen house speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate democratic leader Chuck Schumer calling on Congress to pass a fourth the stimulus package for cash strapped state and local governments democratic lawmakers are joined by three public service workers risking their lives in the fight against carbon nineteen Blake Anderson an emergency medical technician says federal funding is needed for healthcare workers on the front lines it is vitally important that employers in our elected leaders from the White House to Congress and on down provide first responders with what we need to fight this epidemic Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he's open to passing another relief bill with the copy out that Congress limit the liabilities of employees and employers from lawsuits said Sgt and lawsuits as state three open their economies millions of workers here in California have been impacted by the corona virus outbreak but it traditionally underserved group is getting some much needed help from a non profit trying to create employment opportunities for them source American president and chief executive officer Vince Lewis says as more businesses have closed due to the pandemic work from home options are increasing lots of us are doing telework and companies are utilizing telework in ways that they didn't think was possible and telework as a good opportunity and for a person with disability to be employed the nonprofit advocates on behalf of people with disabilities since its founding in nineteen seventy four member Felicity Huffman yeah yeah well her daughter's been accepted to a top university and this time she didn't have to cheat to get it to happen well allegedly Soviet Macy is heading to Carnegie Mellon university's theatre program following Carnegie Mellon start in Pittsburgh and is it there well that's always a tough following her mother's role in last year's a college admissions scandal remember she went to jail the award winning actress pled guilty to paying fifteen thousand to alter Sophia's essay T. answers Macy retook the test on our own and got accepted into the school okay okay good news time seven seventeen good girl how the presidential campaign has changed because of the coronavirus pandemic we talk to Joe Biden's former senior advisor at seven forty one.

"By A. R. P. so many many moons ago when I was studying computer programming there was a language that we learned called cobalt and it had a whole bunch of pics statements and that's basically kind of all I remember this point other than it was something like after when the nineties hit that nobody used Kobol anymore but what's interesting now is that in light of the corona virus pandemic is that state governments and federal governments are putting out calls for volunteers for people who actually know Kobal and that brings me to build him shot you are you're in charge of a group called the cobalt cowboys yes I'm the CEO and founder of cobalt double double along with my wife Eileen and so so what are you guys doing so you're you're just finding volunteers to help our our state governments in the light of this pandemic Julie up until the virus it we've been dealing more with bank and the insurance companies and health care I did do a project for the state of New Jersey in January on a different issue and because of that contact ideally did reach out to the C. E. C. T. O. of the state of New Jersey and send him an email saying we are we are ready to help you he has not replied but I understand why he I'm sure his plate is very very slow we did receive one call I'm sorry your crew will call well is this a Kobo New Jersey is running the state's unemployment system right now which you know you think about your like what is that I mean this is from the nineteen sixties but bill your essay you got an email from somebody I applied we did receive an email back from the state of new New Jersey asked us to to fill out some information for them but let me be let me push back a little bit on that every state runs cold ball every back almost runs global every insurance company runs global worldwide even though it was built and developed by admiral grace hopper and brown nineteen sixty how it helped you bombed through time and it is robust and powerful and it's unbelievable and a lot of the people or organizations that talk about rip and replace getting rid of my friends are called law are now going back this way we won't keep the mainframes and and bothered not because they're so powerful astro in the state of New Jersey I believe that when they when they modernize it they will stay with the main crime and the cobalt because it's there see that yeah that is so interesting because you think like with all the latest and greatest and we want to get everything on the internet and you know then we still have to deal with these legacy programs and so I I think it's session I wanted to get you on the show today because I know that we have a lot of folks who join us you know listen to the show they join us in chat rooms and are retired Kobol programmers in other states that are looking for cobalt programmers right now are Connecticut and Kansas where I think this was interesting the governor Laura Kelly says the department of labor's operating on okay this is her exact quote I'm really old stuff and it was in the process of being modernize when the pandemic hit and so if you know Kobol just like people are making masses that there probably is a need for you to get back into business as well all right with so many of us working from home these days your internet might be lagging or kick kicking you off line more than ever.

P. host of take it out he is also our health expert today he's gonna teach us how to get a better night's sleep is not sweet of course stay away from the corona virus you're good no that's it yeah we have a little bit in Canada yeah we've got a couple of cases I think like four four confirmed cases not that many all that's and you know and no deaths which is good yeah cute folk boy H. scanned the headlines today or look at your stock portfolio and you're not gonna feel so good let's start with the let's start with the keeping the technology out of the bedroom what some I mean they've been studies I assume to let us know that the in the actual impact of looking at a screen before you go to bed not a great idea yeah there's three main reasons why you want to keep track of the bedroom one is that you're right so these screens that we've got our smartphones are you readers are tablets or laptops it emits this blue light which stops your body from producing the melatonin that natural sort of would you call hormones or endorphins are your your listeners could correct me it stops your body from creating melatonin melatonin which you need to feel relaxed naturally and it messes with your circadian rhythms and things like that so the idea is that if your tack does offer an anti blue light or what's called a blue light filter use that but the medical professionals that I've spoke to spoken to in the sleep experts say just just don't bring it to bat don't bring your phone or tablet to bed to unwind it's going to keep you up and that that by the way also goes for any kind of light that you might see through your eyelids like a TV on in your room they say it's not a good idea put on a timer if you like to relax with the TV on the idea is to to not have any attack in the bedroom because it can mess with that with your body the second reason is that there's I I guess I distraction where you've got your phone on maybe it's on your night table and you hear it vibrator buys your home was that somebody come into my Instagram photo or is that an email so and you said I have that for yeah I know it's it's real it's a Dick right and yeah right FOMO fear of missing out so by not having your phone in your bedroom you're not going to though you're not going to care if somebody commented on your Facebook picture of your dinner that you uploaded a couple hours right you'll survive you're still thrive and then the third reason which any any the sleep disorders I spoke to for that USA today article last week was very resistant to sort of comment on this but we don't know what the long term effects are of having a full beside your head all night right I mean phones do emit radiation whether it's cellular or wifi so we don't know what it's like we've got this whole generation of teenagers who are going to sleep on their pillow with their smartphone beside them like right on the pillow in many cases we don't know what the long term effects are so just to err on the side of caution don't spring your smartphone to bad if you can help it if you like to listen to things like white noise or I I my wife and I sometimes put all those old radio shows those plays from the forties you know with the lights out we like hearing those old you don't get over time okay yeah right that's what used to be K. fights main programming Paul I did not know that that's cool that's cool so it's funny because I'm a geek come out like a futurist but I love this holds like nineteen forties medium so that we listen to that but it's you know it they're saying just to not have any at all so that was the the idea behind the articles a lot more details in there if you want to Google that do you pronounce it Jennifer gaffe so we're talking of course about these popular animated little loops animated graphics that you see on people share them on social media you've got it in your messaging app or maybe on a website it's a way of expressing yourself like an emoji and it's spelled G. I. F. and most of us pronounced with a hard G. so I guess however the guy who created it says it's a soft G. it's a Jeff which sounds weird so the guys that what is your or is it short for something is an acronym or what yeah I think it's I think it's an acronym that's actually gets a graphic interface something something with the word graphic in it but it's supposed to have a five G. graphics all graphics interchange format there you go and melatonin is a hormone Hey that sounds right okay there you go nothing nothing like live radio when you make it up on the spot and then so the folks who have the giphy search engine and they do call it give you the hard she it's a search engine we can find fun gets to add to your you know social posts and stuff they partnered with Jeff the peanut butter brands to create this custom label totally sold on Amazon sold out right away it's a fun play on the Jeffersons gift debate so it's a double sided label on the feet of water with that funny descriptions and there's some stuff written on the lid and it was just sort of meant to be a fine partnership a little joke on this side this sticky debate between Jeff and Jeff and job yes they sold out right away says ten Bucks for a you know whatever forty outside jar of peanut butter but I think it's a cute way a of of embracing this debate and there's even a hashtag Jeff verses gaffe and yes Sir a lot of people buzzing about that this week I said listen if if giphy makes any money I mean if the search engine makes any money this is their main reason to keep this argument going us of the people there to check out I think at the geek in me loves the fact that that things like this social media and and gifs and emojis have become a mainstream things like a pop culture thing that it's now on the label of peanut butter that you know someone's gonna grab off the shelf of a supermarket maybe you know right now stands out but I think it's so cool that something that's really nerdy is becoming like a pop culture kind of need you know on on a label of pizza but I think that's great yeah well you stay safe out there stay away from a corona virus and you two guys Marc Saltzman there again follow mark on Twitter at mark with a C. mark underscore Saltzman you can find all these fun stories in the tech tips that he puts out there as well and also the podcast the takeout podcast that you can find on the I heart radio app so we've been talking of course about corona virus and the dragging down of the Dow Jones industrial average yet another day with the Dow was down more than a thousand points almost twelve hundred one bright spot has been Clorox I think it's traded on the S. and P. five hundred but can Clorox kill the coronavirus also cloned pets please don't do that topic we're gonna do that topic my wife listens to that I am in for two thousand here's the thing you should just let her get a new dog and another dog with I have no problem with that but she'll want to clone this one that's from saying that's okay we need to pretend we all have our things during channel continued Chris little has the latest I do filing claims Fullerton doctored some evidence to try to shut up local blog bulletin food the blog friend for Fullerton future last year claiming city records were hacked and stolen online thirty third minute evidence that its expert actually created to make it look like someone had access to Dropbox's account lawyer Kelly Abela says the city has taken extraordinary action against a journalist doing nothing more than covering the issues the city doesn't really want to be covered bulletin says it stands by its expert's testimony and says the claims that the blog stole city documents remain valid a judge will decide in March in Fullerton Corbin Carson KFI news news brought you by Dennis Dillon RV ten more homeless families in south LA will have trailers to live in Veronica Lewis with service provider hotfix says thirty families already have been put on a list to move into the trailers but the ultimate goal obviously is to move an apartment housing so I will be working closely the case management team with them to try to identify resources to provide financial assistance to move them into their own unit the families will start moving in at the beginning of next week the trailers which had been used by first responders during disasters were sent here by governor Newsom a stolen makeshift hearse has crashed in a police chase in south LA with the bodies still in the back the black Nick Lincoln navigator was swiped from outside a church in Pasadena last night the S. U. V. originally had two caskets in the back it was stolen while the first casket was being loaded inside the church an old man in Florida has set fire to his hospital bed to get the attention of the nurses he says he thought they were ignoring him the guy says he didn't mean to hurt anybody by what he did last weekend the bed got damage though and it's going to cost four thousand dollars to replace from the southern California Toyota dealers traffic center we make it easy crash in Long Beach on the four oh five professor forget the cherry there start to clear this from the two right lanes but things are really heavy coming away from Palo Verde also it's gonna be very busy in the seven ten south still coming to Long Beach from the limo to basically be on the road all due to roadwork occurring on ocean Boulevard as to make it right into Anaheim ninety one eastbound side right before you get to harbor got a crash in the left lane so things are heavy just before beach Boulevard every time I've already spent sixty fifty seven still got the style big big in the two right lanes traffic heavy from almost as you said there are fifty seven slows from just before time of our Boulevard okay fine this guy helps get you there faster than.

"Way now but they would call you know they they you're paying money you on a portion of your money and they pay you interest on it but it's very small interest and these these crooks out there and I'm gonna call a mad because they they manipulate and that doesn't mean they're they're they're criminals it just means failed they're crooked the means are not straight they sell the things they call them lurks L. I. A. R. P.'s like it's an official government name like an irate they used to sell them at seven eleven I think they make this up it's a life insurance retirement plan now it's just life insurance is not a retirement plan they tell you to put your money into these things and that you can take it out tax free it was a good one you could take out money tax free no you can okay you can borrow against your policy without taking it out and then you don't pay taxes but let me tell you a little things they neglect to mention like at as you go on over the years your if you're borrowing against the policy your premiums can rise and if you don't pay those ongoing premiums your life insurance policy will lapse you go I don't care I don't need it anymore whole you care because that loan immediately becomes taxable as all that killer income expensive these people are slime balls they're out there to collect huge commissions for themselves I think they're deplorable I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole and please tell your son the same darn thing these guys are and it's all these things it's pay yourself first it's the bank on yourself all of these things are just that their their tricks to get you to make that money.

"American citizens because the odds are overwhelmingly will join either A. A. R. P. or a mac and many people don't know about a mac but it's the conservative alternative to a a RP people join for the discounts they don't join for the politics however you are supporting the left if you join AARP and your supporting the right if you join a mac the benefits are are there whichever one you joined I acknowledge but why not as well have the ability to support the values you have if your model of a life that's a Prager for a mac Prager for a mac dot com if nothing I've said convinces you how about this they're a big supporter of the show if the show was important to you patronizing the the the sponsors should be a big deal eight five five six two four zero one six three Prager for a mac dot com I'm asking you have Christmas when or something if you have a special dinner and if you have relatives and or friends of different political persuasions how did you handle it the so wonderful serving woman called about her son came what the Catholic school there was an atheist amis raising his kids is a theist if user to someone else you know what it is among other things intellectually lazy he won a PF Charles Krauthammer on atheism they're shown the Lake Charles Krauthammer was secular man I didn't know what he would answer for AS them about atheism okay I believe atheism is at least plausible of all theologies I mean they are not allowed once and there were the work so contrary to what is possible is eighty seven yeah I do that all this universe I mean what is it always existed it created itself like today hello and we talk about the violations of human rationality so that that to me is so often charge yeah talk about the violation of rationality that's what they see is the violation of Russian Bellamy to raise your children as atheists I understand people unfortunately violating rationality and being a fist fight some of them are nice people but why would you want to deprive your child of the only thing that in the final analysis means that life is is meaningful no god this is a meaningless coincidence the toll we are who visit the world in a in a blink of time all right anyway let's skip more of your dinner stories here a okay all right Jim has an answer to a left wing hypocrite al Sharpton okay but nobody if knowledge is that my bike question was all we hear is right wing hypocrisy right Christians who support trump they're hypocrites but leftists who support Hillary Clinton they're not hypocrites and she's a bigger crook than he is and she hurt the country much more than he did so that's what I mean that the fact that you might consider a leftist hypocrite is relevant the people who charged the right with hypocrisy never charge people okay so I'm opening up a line here and let's go to Leonard and in the in spring Texas hello Leonard well thank you I did thank you yeah we had a couple from us church members hold on it's it's not the clearest connection are you talking on a speaker phone cut it out there it's better okay yes a couple over from church and we we had a discussion they were Democrats and lost I'm of the Democrat so I get a family members they all Democrats I've been Democrat what what's all my life until I voted for president trump my discussion with them well how do you the Democratic Party had taken black America down to to all yeah well Martin beginning that did not during my eight what would be a warning of a black America big be part of America wanted us to go through to be part of the system and not feel like will distance filled so my thing is up I realize that the Democratic Party will making black Americans feel like a victim and they're all being well I'll do my years as a Democrat it is always the races thing dangling over a lack of carrot and anyone in the Republic of Republican Party as a Democrat you know my feeling and I'm pretty sure that most Democrats because I've been there they feel like they they pretty much were if it breaks we'll fill it yeah I agree with everything you said did you say this at the dinner all yeah yes it will happen at home sorry nine on.
