The 95th Academy Award is going to be getting underway in about 35 or so minutes hosted by Jimmy Kimmel with everything everywhere all at once leading the way with 11 Oscar nominations, right behind is both all quiet on the western front and banshees of an insurance with 9 nominations. Global news 24 hours a day powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in over a 120 countries. I'm Dan Schwartzman and this is Bloomberg. Doug. Dan, thanks. Well, we've been talking a lot about the fallout from Silicon Valley bank, the SVB collapse and how this is spreading around the world, a person that we can speak to about this who knows the story very well as nabila Ahmed Bloomberg, Asia, finance reporter joining from Sydney. First of all, nabila, thank you so much for being with us. Give me a sense of what's playing out in your part of the world now, given the fact that the government, the US Treasury and the Federal Reserve have combined to create some kind of emerging emergency lending facility, I would think at least for the moment that this has helped to cool a lot of the anxiety. That's exactly right, good evening to you. The panic button that the market has had its finger on since last week has actually been lifted somewhat. So as you say, people are acting a little bit calmer we're seeing just in the markets that bond yields are coming back a bit. Futures trading futures for the U.S. markets are performing better. So I think people are just feeling grateful right now that the fed has stepped in and said that they will protect a positive. What happens to investors obviously is another big question. But right now we know that the uninsured depositors will get their money back and that has just calmed markets. What are the things that this reveals, though, the unintended consequences of moving to fight inflation in a very aggressive way, keeping the focus squarely on trying to get inflation under control by aggressively raising interest rates. One of the things that I think is also a part of the story is that the U.S. yield curve has been inverted for such a long time. This is perhaps something that I don't know could have been avoided necessarily. Maybe that's not the right way of looking at it. The question is whether or not there are other financial institutions that could be at similar risk. That's exactly right. And we have seen that the regulators step in today and put signature bank into receivership, for example. But the big question here, as well as contagion. So contagion is one issue we need to think about, who else does it affect? Where does the impact actually flow out to? But the other question is, should the not the regulators have known about this? I mean, they were the ones playing around with interest rates and, as you say, the yield curve has been invested for a long time. Why didn't they see this coming? And that is something that I think we will be asking more and more in the coming days and weeks. I don't know the answer to that question, but what I do know is last week, the CEO of SVB basically communicated to the market that the bank intended to raise a little bit of capital, I think, 1.9 billion in equity and also indicated that they might have to sell down a portion of their portfolio. So there may have been a move at the bank to try to avoid this, but in an environment that we were talking about of rising interest rates. There's so much damage that has been inflicted on bank balance sheets just as a result of market forces. That's exactly right. The bank thought that it could invest in a lot of these assets and that there would be safe because we thought that interest rates would remain low for a really, really, really long period and they were, but then post COVID as you saw inflation rising, the fed had to step in to tackle that. What's interesting is that interest rates have been rising for a significant amount of time now. And the bank probably could have seen that coming a little bit. I mean, markets have been hit, you know, like it's not just that it happened last week and they were like, whoops, we need this money. And we are investments are down. The question how is financial regulation written to kind of constrain a bank, I think that a lot of the dod Frank legislation when it was conceived maybe didn't invert envision an inverted yield curve. So here we are dealing with that fact at which when you've been putting money to work at certain durations, market forces have made those assets worth less. And maybe that was a consequence of this story. Or as a part of the story as well. Nabilah, thank you so much for being with us nabila Ahmed Bloomberg, Asia, finance reporter joining from Sydney here on DBA. We'll take a look at this hour's

Oscars 2023: How to watch the 95th Academy Awards today
"Since 1961, the red carpet at the Academy Awards is not red. It champagne colored. They're also will be a roof over it, not just in case of bad weather, but so that it looks like an evening event. While most of the country watched the Oscars at night, celebrities started arriving in Los Angeles at 3 p.m., Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel says he likes the look. I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shot. Speaking of Kimmel, this is his third time hosting the Oscars. He's only the 5th person to be a solo host at least three times, along with Bob Hope, Billy Crystal, Johnny Carson and Whoopi Goldberg, hope hosted or co hosted 19 times,

But hasn't even gotten a tired eye look by the house. The bill would make daylight saving time permanent. Studies have shown that the extra hour of sunlight leads to reduced crime levels, a decrease in seasonal depression and allows the kids to play outside longer instead of sitting inside on their phones. He Uh, before fleeing the tower, he watered the geraniums on the window sill in the 74th floor office. Isn't that funny? Under the circumstances. One doesn't think logically, I guess he says, Uh, I thought that was very funny. Another picture to remember the picture and so many different pictures we might recall may not have seen for years of the woman with the baby. On a baby. Um When a little bouncy things they sit on the little rest thing, And then she's on top of her apartment building and she got the baby and in the background is the towers on fire, and you know, across the river. And her son. Obviously, now is 20. He was a baby. Then he noticed how his mother had placed his carrier. So that he was facing her and not the terrible scene across the river, and she's looking at him. And that photo to this day. He noticed that enthusiasm that photo obviously it's beautiful. There has already worked on this work with us through the through this process on brother head basketball coach Beer and Champagne and the head football coach. I've already hired folks on staff will be specifically tasked with, um, you know, working through this new system to make sure that the players are safe, so I think you know there are still things that we've got to figure out when it comes to To the practical part of its practical application, But all in our really excited about the movie here, Yeah, I hear you and me and it's gonna be nice opportunity for some of these athletes. Young athletes to, you know, earn some money off of their image. You're right. It's just It's something that's gonna It could make a big difference to a lot of folks. I would think you know it. Just it zits. Amazing. Amazing to think. What What could happen if you know you kind of manage this the way it sounds like you, you've set it up to go. You've got to be. You gotta be proud of this. I really am. I wouldn't have thought, you know, 15 years ago when I was still in the cabin and in the locker won't want to do it and champagne that I would be able to have the opportunity to do this, But I tell you what it is. It's something that is really private, prideful and proud moment for me on I just want to say I know a lot of folks are looking at this and they think about it is the star quarterback of your question or Star point guard. University will annoy being able to break him. Bunch Bunches of dollars makes dawn You know who they are. But I also want to say that that this is going to be good for began a lady who's a softball player at Millikin University indicator who is a fan favorite. People in the area know her and love her and the car dealership was to put her name on the post. Her face on the poster is gonna be good for her, because guess what she's done with college. She won't have the opportunity to make money like that playing card or or that's what quarterback they start her athletic prowess right on, so there's really does. I think even the playing field in many ways, and they create some parity for folks who play sports who are necessarily revenue generating in most cases. Yeah. No, I hear you on that even the ability to have a camp up your valuable player and in the summertime, go back home and have a camp for kids. If you're like a star volleyball player, all the kids want to learn from you. You can't even charge. You know, 10 bucks a kid in order to do that before this bill, am I right about that? That's the way I interpreted it. That is what I actually had a conversation just a couple nights ago with a young woman who was a pretty good tennis player at Illinois State University. She just graduated to get year and a half ago two years ago, Um and she had issue where she wanted to give tennis lessons at her local country club. At home in the suburbs of Chicago. And she was unable to do that, based on the fact that she was scholarship athletes. Neither were you know, as you say, 15 20 bucks. Um you know something in her pockets up in that way, ingratiate her towards her community that she was hamstrung from doing based on the current law. So this really is something that something in here for everybody, and hopefully people understand that. Congratulations on the bill. I know you worked hard for it. "Injuries, um sports Even from bad posture over time, which is a very common thing that we're seeing now, especially with texting and cell phones, and I think text neck is now like a clinical diagnosis. It is text neck and now they should call it zoom neck because people are at their kitchen tables for the past 18 months doing zoom meetings. And bent over and they're on their laptops. The ergonomics are just terrible. And so think about that. Think it hold it like if you ever hold a bowling ball. Right. You ever go bowling? All right, So I like to picture like this. You hold a bowling ball. If you're just, like, hold a bowling ball up like a server like you're carrying a tray like a server. You know how it server will carry a tray like of waters to you picture that train now being a bowling ball. Now what you do, That's your heads that represents your head. You're carrying around this bowling ball on top of your neck right all day long. And now all of a sudden you're gripping that bowling ball. And now all of a sudden put it straight out in front of you, right. So now your arm is extended. Your elbows extended like you're not gonna be able to hold that bowling ball out in front of you for very long. What's gonna happen Those muscles in the back of your arm? They're going to start spasming. They're going to go crazy on you. Eventually your arm is going to start quivering and shit. And eventually those muscles are going to give out on you. Now, Here's what's happening is that we're walking around with this bowling ball on top of our heads. And we're doing life unintentionally causing stress in the back of our muscles, but is more with the with the head. It's more than just muscles. Yeah, there's individual bones is little Come jingle pieces and why I always go back to Jenga. I feel like that's just They fit really nicely together. They do so picture in the other's little Jenga pieces. You have these 24 individual, movable bones in your body and at the very base of your school where your school meets your neck. There's those two bones that Dr Tracy was just mentioning this C one and C two c one was that bone that Christopher Reeve's made famous? Remember him? He was who? Superman Superman. So when he fell off his horse, yet his chin that top on the next Slipped forward. It damaged the spinal cord and boom. Everything below that shut down now, Christopher Reeves. You didn't have headaches. His bones shifted too far and actually dented the spinal cord itself. But neurologically and this is the point. This isn't just muscles in your arm. This is these air bones that are out of place in the neck that can cause tension and stress and damage to the spinal cord. And those nerves and yes, the symptoms might be headaches because those nerves go open ahead. Those blood vessels go up in the head. Was tension could be uncomfortable, but it's more than just discomfort right? Those nerves. Remember Christopher Reeve's end up what we have. He had heart issues because the vagus nerve there controls the heart. He had irregular and disrupted bowels because of everything flows from above down, So from the brain goes down the spinal cord out through the nerves. So you have a machine to move his bowels he had ever respirator to pump his Remember, he was in that chair that really kept him alive for seven years. And what did you actually end up passing away from was an immune system problem, right? There's no special machine. To move on stimulate your immune system. But most people don't understand is that when you damage the nervous system, you also damage the immune system. So your immune system is that affected. It's a neuro immune response. So for somebody who's dealing with headaches, that's just a symptom of an underlying condition. Right, So it's like a very, very much like a check engine light that goes off in your car. You know those headaches. We don't have a check engine light or check spine light that goes off on her forehead. That's what symptoms are. Those check engine light's are to tell you to do what? Check the engine. Something's gone wrong. A bit too often. We just cover up that symptom and keep going on because the really the symptom is the problem for most people, but it's just a warning sign of a bigger issue. And everything that you were saying before about getting to the root cause of the problem. You do that by checking the nervous system. Oui, oui, way honor symptoms. We we value symptoms because they are that warning sign, so to cover them up with a medication or a bottle of wine. That's not going to produce the long lasting effect. That's not going to truly get you healthy, so that's why we take it back to the central. I source. We figure out what's the root cause here because when we address the problem there, that's how symptoms resolved. That's how your body heals, and it functions at its highest level, and that's what true health this Mm hmm. You were talking to a patient here recently and that patient was in the hospital. What? For? Gall bladder? Yes, Yes. Um, Yeah. I was talking to a patient. Um We'll call him Joe talking to Joe. And he actually recently got his gall bladder removed and chose elderly. He and his wife, they come in and they get adjusted, and, um, we love them. But Joe had his gall bladder removed because he had severe gall bladder issues for his entire life much much earlier longer than we've known him. Um, but he was in the hospital and he was recovering, and the surgeons were giving him expectations. This is how long it's going to take you to recover. This is how long you're going to be in the hospital. These are some symptoms that you can expect as your body is working to hell. And his wife was telling me that his recovery time was cut in half. He didn't have to take nearly any of the medications that they were telling him and The doctors were baffled, and they said, We have no idea how he is healing this quickly at his age, and his wife smiled at me, and she said, Oh, I I told them I know how he's feeling because he gets adjusted. That's great as talking Tonto Life West president Dr Ron overseeing this past weekend, and he's celebrating here to leave the seminar just a little bit early because he was celebrating his dad's 95th birthday, 95th. And, uh and I said, that's great. 95 years old. He goes and he's in great health. I said, What do you You know, It's kind of setting him up a little bit, because I kinda knew what his answer is gonna be, But I don't know him. I don't know his dad. Very well. I'm sorry. Don't know, Dad. I don't know him very well. So what do you attribute his good health, too? And he goes. Oh, I know it is good health is attributed to you goes, this guy's been getting adjusted for the past 40 years. He's lived this life and he's proving that this life ends with good health that you're you're independent, You know, he's not in some nursing home or anything like that. He's Is his independent. So you might be listening and thinking, Hey, the person you're describing Sounds like me. What I find when talking with people many times, that person just doesn't know what to do. And maybe that's you. Have you just are in that situation? If you're in pain, maybe you're struggling. Or maybe you have health condition and you don't know what to do. Here's what you do in my experience. You take action on that? That feeling that you have that nudge that.
