Balaji Srinivasan Makes Million-Dollar Bets on Bitcoin Price
"All right guys, well, another busy weekend. If you were on Twitter, I'm sure you saw the frenzy of debate around balaji's $1 million Bitcoin bet. TLDR, balaji, srinivasan, who is the former coinbase CTO and just generally interesting thinker, he authored that book, the network state, which is also the name of his new podcast, and has been on this show before as well, has been what he has been ringing the alarm as he puts it around impending financial crisis. He is arguing that these bank failures are a direct result of fed policies, and he thinks it gets worse before it gets better. Now to put his money where his mouth is, he's taken at least two people up on a $1 million bet that Bitcoin reaches a $1 million per coin within 90 days. If that seems crazy to you, you are certainly not alone. That has been the standard response from people in the fin twit space and from traditional finance, but those who are in crypto don't quickly forget just how prescient biology's predictions around the COVID-19 pandemic were. Anyways, it's something I'm watching, but if you want more in depth on that, go check out the YouTube channel. I did a whole episode around it on Sunday. To the extent the story continues and it continues to shape debates, I may come back to that later in the week.

Hunter Biden Admits Laptop Belongs to Him
"I want to work on connecting the dots with some of these cultural issues. Tying or connecting the dots with the corruption. All right, so what I was telling you about the Hunter Biden laptop, we were telling you about the $3 million that would split in three ways between the Biden crime family. There was another partner involved whose name escapes me at this point. I'll get that back to you later. Halle Biden is the new Biden member that got a little bit of that Chinese communist cash. And then there's still an unknown Biden. So we'll have to wait and see if Joe Biden is named, but listen, we know that Hunter Biden is not going to make money, we're not for his dad being the vice president or being the president of the United States. Now, they pick on this guy, John Mack Isaac. Isaac said a man who believed who he believed to be Hunter Biden dropped off three laptops, all right? At his store, this was in April 2019, only one was salvageable. He repaired the laptop, and then that's where he when he discovered the disturbing material. He said the customer did not return. We now know that customer is Hunter Biden for 90 days, all right? He couldn't get in touch with him. So Isaac said he first searched the emails by key word in June or July of 2019, according to Isaac's account, the FBI first made a forensic copy of the laptop, then returned weeks later with the subpoena to confiscate the laptop. When he stopped hearing from the FBI, the FBI, they're still holding the laptop to this day. You know, ran by Christopher wray, the not so not so moral FBI today. When he stopped hearing from the FBI, Isaac said he contacted several members of Congress. They just simply didn't respond. They didn't respond. So at that point, his intermediary reached out to Rudy Giuliani's attorney, Robert Costello. Now, Hunter Biden has seemingly acknowledged our admitted that the laptop was his back in February of this year or last month, but I don't know what gave it away. I don't know if it was his body naked body being all over the freaking thing that gave it away or what, but he finally admitted to it. These people are morons.

Fed lent $300B in emergency funds to banks in the past week
"The fed lent hundreds of billions of dollars in emergency funds to troubled banks. I'm Lisa de weyer. The Federal Reserve says that cash short banks have borrowed about $300 billion in emergency funding from the Central Bank and the past week. Nearly half the money, 143 billion went to holding companies for the two major banks that failed recently, Silicon Valley bank and signature bank. The money they borrowed was used to pay their uninsured depositors with bonds owned by both banks posted as collateral. An additional 148 billion in lending was provided to other unidentified banks through a long-standing program called the discount window and amounted to a record level for that program. Banks can borrow from the discount window for up to 90 days, typically in a given week, only about four to 5 billion is borrowed through that program

Sen. Bill Hagerty: A Failure Like SVB Would Not Happen in Tennessee
"Senator, that again, we're dealing with startups and the problem was 90% of the companies that had business at the bank were well over the $250,000 Mark, but many of these startups, it usually takes months if you're going to a main line bank to get the approval process and it was just taken about a week or so at SVB, so no wonder they were in such disarray. Yeah, SAB has a very different business model than most traditional banks. I mean, I've served on bank boards in Tennessee, we take a very conservative approach to banking in Tennessee, as you might imagine, this type of situation would not have occurred. I don't believe with any bank in Tennessee. But when you get to the core of what happened here, the management team should have been managing their investment portfolio. What happened was they were taking in a tremendous amount of deposits. They went from a $70 billion bank in 2019 to 211 billion in 2022. They weren't in a position to prudently lend that money out. So what they started doing is buying safe securities, meaning they're buying treasuries, mortgage backed securities that are backed by the government. But to get a higher yield on those, they were going further and further out in terms of the duration of those securities. And so when interest rates start rising dramatically as they did when the fed steps in to try to fight back this inflation that Joe Biden has created, they find those securities underwater because the security that's paying 1.5%, which is a lot of that was in their portfolio. Now that rates are up at 4.5%, you're going to get somebody to buy that security from you today. You're going to have to make up that difference by discounting the value of that security, meaning it may be worth 90 cents to the dollar 80 cents in the dollar 70 cents in the dollar. That's the size of discount. You'd have to get in this environment to want to take that 1.5% paper over the option to make four and a half percent if you just bought short term paper today. So that

The Major Questions Doctrine
"Yeah, yeah. General Clement, when I read the D.C. circuit's opinion, which is a two one opinion. I read that after I read your petition for shirt before I wrote my Washington Post column, they seem to treat the Supreme Court new precedent on administrative law the way that the national marine fisheries service treated the comment. It was like a potemkin village notice and comment here. 90% of the notice and comment responses that don't do this, you'll kill us and the national marine fisheries service just dismissed them. Well, the D.C. circuit took a look at what the Supreme Court has been saying about administrative law and they said, we are fully aware of that, but this isn't that. And I said, oh my gosh, this is exactly that. I mean, isn't that your reaction? This is exactly what the major questions doctrine or other changes. Maybe they just need a two by four to get it right. Well, sometimes the court has to give an unmistakable message to the courts of appeals before they'll listen. You know, I had a case last term completely different area of the law. But for years and years and years, the Supreme Court had basically been saying, we've moved away from our lemon test in the establishment clause context. And last term, the court got frustrated with lower courts not getting the message and just made it unmistakably clear in the case involving coach Kennedy. And I think we may need something else in the administrative law area.

Is It Time to Decouple From China? David McCormick Explains
"So provocative idea that some people have floated out that I sympathize with on moral terms, but I also understand that it's rather aggressive is that time to decouple. I mean, there are some really thoughtful people that are talking about economically, that's a harsh measure that would definitely mean that there would be rising costs and probably economic uncertainty. But is that something we should be entertaining or at the very least, you know, identify ten or 20, 30 different sectors. They say we want to make this your thoughts. What I call it in the book is strategic decoupling. And listen, I was shocked, Charlie. I can't believe it. And I know I should follow a no such things, but that our pharmaceutical supply chains during COVID were so dependent on China. I was, you know, I knew we were highly dependent on microchips but 90% of the microchips that we require are manufactured 90 miles from Mainland China in Taiwan. So it is an absolute travesty that we have an entire semiconductor industry which is critical to every aspect of national security and economic well-being that's offshore. So that's a perfect example where we need to decouple. There are a number of areas where we need to bring those capabilities home or have them within our closest allies where we can be dependent on it. And that's going to have implications for our ability to have manufacturing jobs here at home in very positive ways. It may raise costs but it will create actual security.

Should the Retirement Age Be Raised to Sustain Social Security?
"The average age so if you're going to, if you're going to get social security benefits, you're eligible for full benefits what at 62. You can delay, you can delay that as you can up to what age 70, I think, and of course your benefit about will increase. But a lot of people are debating whether or not they're actually going to retire at the age of 62. Now keep in mind that back when that age was set, most people were not what life expectancy was not that far past the age of 62 for most folks. So anyway, senator John Kennedy, the Republican from Louise Anna, was asked about this, cut number 7. I mean, the life expectancy of the average American right now is about 77 years old. For people who are in their 20s, their life expectancy will probably be 80 5 to 90. Does it really make sense to allow someone who's in their 20s today to retire at 62? Those are the kind of things that we should talk about. It's a fair question. Because social security was not created for the average person to live until their 80s or their 90s.

Is the Traditional Financial World Collapsing?
"Joel and lord Travis here for another episode of the bad crypto podcast this one coming hot on the heels of a weekend that will go down in infamy. Hello trev. My my my. Crypto goes down, crypto goes up, crypto goes down, crypto goes up, and wow, you know, it's really up today. You know, is that Joel? The world it is up today in the world doesn't change. Like here we are with the second biggest bank failure in U.S. history and the U.S. government stepping in to stop the contagion and the dominoes falling. Trevor, are there any other banks that people should avoid? I mean, knowing that S is a bad starter for a bank. Yeah. Yeah, that's so true. So maybe if you are Santander bank, you might want to be on the lookout south state bank. Security bank. There's a few of those out there. S and T, that's one. Stockyards bank. I mean, there's a lot of banks that Sally may. Santana has a bank. Santana has a bank and they play guitar when you come in. Come to a bank. We're going to have a bank around here. We've been talking about this stuff for a while, folks. And you know, it's like, what happens? What are some of the first stages of a potential traditional financial system collapse? Because if you've listened to some of the previous episodes that we've done, G Edward Griffin and talking about the creation of the Federal Reserve banking system, the creation of Fiat currency, how the life of a world reserve currency Joel last what? 80, 90 years, maybe. And here we are, so all of these things are sort of lined up, and then you had the pandemic, and then you had all these banks taken into posits and then putting them into risky things. It's just crazy watching what's going on. And one thing that's peculiar to me, Joel, is that every one of these banks are like innovation friendly kind of banks. They are. So

Seth Dillon of the Babylon Bee Joins Trish to Talk Censorship
"I couldn't think of a more perfect guest to have on this program than my friend Seth Dillon the CEO of baby on be a company that has seen its share of shadow banning and full out banning. Seth, welcome to the program. Thanks for having me on. So I love your website. You know that. I've told you that many, many times before. I need that sort of levity, right? Given everything that's going on. But you guys went through a two double L and back over the last couple of years, like many of us did, but what was unusual about your situation? And I'd like you to speak to it a little bit. I also want to talk a little bit about the business of conservative media with you because you are such a entrepreneur on that front. You've had to deal with this censorship in a way that is pretty extraordinary, even when it comes to humor. What's up and like? Well, I mean, we faced a number of challenges with our humor. One of the things, which is kind of a funny one that doesn't really fit in with the censorship, but it has been a challenge nonetheless, is that half the time we make these jokes, they end up coming true. And so you have the situation where they're fulfilled prophecies instead of punch lines. We have a spreadsheet where we're tracking them now. We have like 90 plus jokes that have come true, which is just kind of a crazy sign of the times. I don't know if that's funny or disconcerting. I guess you can look at it either way. Just concerning, for sure. You guys. You guys are futurists in a way. Yeah, but you know, it started out for us, the censorship really started, we experienced it in 2018 initially, you know, Facebook was facing a lot of pressure to crack down on misinformation. Basically, the idea was Zuckerberg was responsible for Trump getting elected because he let conservatives talk too much. You know, God forbid, conservatives have a platform. You might end up with a Republican getting elected. So, you know, they were trying to crack down on the spread of misinformation. They started fact checking things. They started working with partners like snopes. And next thing you know, we ended up getting our jokes fact checked. We had the first one that was a really big deal was the CNN purchases industrial sized washing machine to spin the news before publication. That was a joke of ours, which is just silly. And it's like the image there is just this big washing machine with a CNN logo across the front of it. Snopes rates at falls, Facebook threatens to kick us off the platform if we keep spreading fake news. So, you know, we've been ever since then when that started, we were dealing with this issue of our jokes continually getting fact checked, getting flagged for incitement to violence, getting flagged for hateful conduct.

David Goldman Unpacks the Concept of a Moscow-Beijing Axis
"Idea of a Moscow Beijing access is that pie in the sky are these people really friends or are these just strange bedfellows out of convenience because of the current situation in Ukraine. Well, it's convenience, but it's a very powerful kind of convenience because if Russia is treated as a pariah state whose leaders are accused of war crimes and in the case of failure, phase Nuremberg tribunal, they will do everything in their power, including make enormous concessions to China, no matter how much they dislike China in order to survive. So yes, it's convenience, but it's a very compelling kind of convenience, survival is a kind of convenience, but a very special one. But how do they look at each other? I mean, you've written the book, you will be assimilated, so this is your tome on China's plan to sign a form the world, Russia is just another nation they wish to have as a tributary. They wish to have pole position, correct? Remember that Russia graduates more engineers each year than we do in absolute numbers, and they're good. Maybe 10% of them have emigrated because of their distaste for Putin's war. But 90% are still there. A third of Russian students study engineering. So Russia represents an enormous pool of technological talent, especially in the military sphere.

There is a parcel of land. Acres and acres right on the edge of Atlanta between Fulton and da cab county. And they are putting up a 90 million that's 9 zero million police and fire training academy. Wouldn't you think that after everything we've been through with George Floyd, BLM, all sorts of cases that have gone on that you would want your police firefighters EMS first responders trained at a new facility, one would think, right? Except that you have this very organized funded by whoever flying people in from out of state. You had people here from Utah, Colorado, Massachusetts, Maine, and then you had two foreign dudes, one from France and one from Canada. How did they get here? Last I looked, those tickets are over a $1000 one way or round trip to Atlanta, Georgia. It's not cheap to fly anymore. And here they are. All these outside agitators with the exception of one guy from the southern poverty law center that left wing institution. He was arrested and now luckily they're facing a domestic terrorism charges, so at least they're not going to be getting out in a revolving door. These people actually have to hire attorneys for setting it on fire. They set some equipment on fire. They set a police car on fire. They were throwing bricks sticks, rocks, shooting off firecrackers at the police. They deserve what they get.

He co hosts the award winning TV program way of the master, which airs in almost two hundred countries on and on, I could go ray comfort, welcome to this program. I'm sorry, please didn't go on and on. Embarrassing. I should say welcome back to the program. Well, you really have written so many books. You've been at what you do for a long time. Now, for people who know nothing about you, where did you grow up and how did you come to the faith and to doing what it is that you do? Let's start there. I was born twice in New Zealand. New Zealand down under by Australia. And itinerary ministry there. And the thing that brought me to faith was the knowledge that I was going to die. I had a Solomon experience. It was kind of my life was kind of squeezed up at the time. I was 20 years old. Done everything I wanted to do. I had my own business, my own car, my own house, and wife had made one child by then. And so I thought, what's next? And I thought, this is vanity. It's like chasing the wind because everything I grab is going to be ripped from my hands by this mysterious thing called death. It didn't make any sense. And I knew one night as an on Christian, I just cried out why, why? I wasn't even crying out to God. I just cried out why. Thankfully, God heard my prayer in 6 months later, I came to faith in Christ, I remember reading the sermon on the mount, where Jesus said you've heard it said by them of all, you shall not commit adultery. And saying to myself, well, if there's a heaven or probably get there because I've never committed adultery. But then I read the words of Jesus, but I say to you, whoever looks upon a woman to last for her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart. It was like an arrow hitting my chest. I thought, no, does God see my thought life? I had no idea that he saw my motives in my intentions. And that's when I understood the cross because I understood that I was condemned, I didn't ha if I died in my sins, then the cross made sense that Christ died for me rose again, defeated death. And I came to faith and I was like a man who had found everlasting life.
