This safety stand down comes in the wake of Thursday's deadly midair collision between two army Apache helicopters, returning from a training mission over Alaska. There was also a crash last month in Kentucky. They killed 9 soldiers, all aviation units are ordered to review the maintenance of their aircraft, pilot training and safety precautions, an army spokesman says the suspension of air operations is effective immediately, active duty units will undergo new training, the first week of May, while reserve units will have until May 31st. The two Apache helicopters were returning from gunnery practice to their base near Fairbanks, Alaska, when they collided in midair. Each helicopter carried a gunner in a pilot. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, the third died en route to the hospital. It's the army's third fatal helicopter crash this year, all of them during routine training. The top stories we're following for you today, the Maryland attorney general's report on decades of child sex abuse and cover up in the Catholic arch diocese of Baltimore has now been released to the public. The redacted report on the four year investigation is more than 460 pages long. It dates back to the 1940s and says there are 156 current or former clergy members and other members of the archdiocese who were the subject of credible abuse allegations. It details the lengths the church hierarchy went to cover up the abuse. Attorney general Anthony Brown says the report in his words illustrates the depraved, systemic failure of the archdiocese to protect the most vulnerable. We have reporters going over the document right now. We'll have more details coming up on WTO P, stay with us. China is criticizing a meeting today between House speaker Kevin McCarthy and the president of Taiwan, accusing the U.S. of violating its one China policy, but the U.S. is pushing back on that, more from WTO's Mitchell Miller today on the hill, House speaker McCarthy, along with a bipartisan group of lawmakers will meet in California with Taiwanese president Tsai ing Wen. The military says an aviation safety team found the flight data recorders and they've been sent to fort Rucker in Alabama to be analyzed 9 soldiers died after the two helicopters collided. Here at home, the new bike and pedestrian lanes on old Georgetown road have been criticized by drivers for slowing down traffic, but a new report shows the lanes could be improving safety there. A new Maryland state highway administration report says since the lanes were installed last October, there have been zero crashes involving bikers, walkers or runners along the roadway. There have been 35 other types of crashes none were fatal, more than 8000 people have signed a change dot org petition complaining about the lanes for various reasons. The new report does show that travel times have increased on average, about 30 seconds for drivers headed northbound in the morning, and about a minute in the afternoon. David hall is the first to be held accountable for the death of cinematographer Helena Hutchins. So this is after south capitol street, east bound on the freeway getting on to the outbound 11th street bridge headed on to D.C. two 95 headed past Pennsylvania avenue. Lane should be open. He says an army aircraft safety team from Alabama will come in to lead the investigation into the crash. A Wall Street Journal reporter was arrested on espionage charges in Russia, has pleaded not guilty in a top secret hearing that is what Russia's tass news service is reporting after American journalist Evan gerskovic was taken into custody this morning in the city of yekaterinburg.
