Booking Your Wedding Vendors: Essential Tips For Your Big Day
"So yesterday we had a little bit of a chat about the top four things that you need to book first, which if you listen to the first one, I missed one very crucial one. So you can guess which one that was as I repeat this, but it was venue caterers in one, photographer, videographer and celebrant. Which one do you reckon I forgot? I don't know. Let's just say you really need this one to get married. You actually do need this one. You cannot get married without this one. It's illegal. It is illegal. You can get married without this one. However, it will not be a legal binding of people. That's right. So to give the recap, those are the top four things that we highly recommend in our experience, in the time that we've spent with our thousands of rides really are the first things you need to be booking. And because we work with amazing vendors here in the Hunter Valley and in other places that we have worked before that, we just know that these are the ones you've got to get locked in. So to recap, basically this is all about your priorities, but those top four things you're always going to need a celebrant to make it legal. You're going to need a venue. So whether that is something really low key, whether it's your backyard, whether it is a chapel, you're going to need a venue of some sort somewhere you stand to say I do. And 9 out of 10, if not 9 .9 % of people, whatever, 100 % of people usually want a photographer or videographer or both. And these guys, they can only do one on a day. So you have to lock them in if you want a particular date or of course you want those particular vendors for your wedding day. So I think we're all in agreeance on that one. And then we did a little bit of a touch base on wedding dress shopping. We talked about the other vendors that you'll need to book and there's a good chance I may forget some, but you've got your dress, all your suits, you've got your hair and makeup, your florist, just stationary. If you save the dates, just signs. Look, there is so much to think about. Oh, you know, what about all the extras, Candice? Yeah, like cakes. There's cakes that need to be made. I don't know, is cakes separate? I mean, does everybody have a cake for their wedding? So maybe an essential, that one. Maybe, yeah. Accommodation. Accommodation. Especially if it is a destination wedding or if you're not from the Hunter Valley. Do you get banned? Yes. Yep. Do you get banned? Yeah, and the accommodation. Sorry, just because I cut you off there. Especially if it's a destination wedding. You've got to not only organize the wedding party, but unfortunately most of the time you're organizing your guests as well to make sure that they can get somewhere. I mean, it doesn't even have to be the Hunter Valley. We've got a lot of options here, but what if you're getting married in Fiji or Bali? Middle of nowhere. You need to think about how many people, and I guess that also can factor into what venue you choose as well. If you are having a larger wedding with people that are coming from overseas or out of town, you know, somewhere that is easy for them to access or that has some sort of transport systems. I know that quite a few of the venues have buses that will transport people back and forth. You can hire buses. I know that the Hunter has quite a range of different buses around that can take people to and from different locations if your ceremony and your reception are at two different locations. There's quite a bit with accommodation that needs to be thought about. I think that it's probably something that a lot of people leave to the last minute as long as they're sort of organized. If you're planning your wedding 12 to 18 months out, I guess you're not really thinking about, well, where am I going to sleep in some ways because you're just trying to get everything organized. Maybe bride and groom you're organizing somewhere and your honeymoon afterwards, which is something else that you have to organize if you're taking a honeymoon. But yeah, it's mum and dad. It's auntie Chazza, you know. It's even the day before, like us as hair and makeup artists, where are we going to be doing hair and makeup? That accommodation needs to be booked for the bridal party either the night before or the morning of. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, absolutely.

Biden's Inflation Numbers Exposed
"Jim, we got time for Rick Santelli, right? Here's Rick Santelli on CNBC. He was the guy who basically started the Tea Party talking about the inflation numbers. I want you to pay special attention to the last five seconds of this because that's where all the good, the nation is. Here, check this out. What I would consider potentially the most important, even though it's ex food and energy is over year year CPI, 4%, one tenth lighter than we are expecting, one tenth lighter than our last look, which was 4 .1 and the metric there, and this is a biggie, we have been under 4 % since May of 2021. Yes, under 4 % since May of 2021. Folks, that's the kicker. The Biden tea, why isn't it bad enough yet, like we started at the beginning of the show, because the media will not tell the truth. You can frame anything in a positive light if you'd like to. I mean, think about it, you get a pool of a thousand people and 600 are murdered. Oh my gosh, there's no way to frame that positively. You could say, yes, 400 people are still after alive the week in May. You're like, wow, that's really great. Never mentioning 600 died. The media is obsessed with the inflation's down 65%. Yeah, it is. Except the prices are still going up annually at a rate of about 3 and 4 % just because it was 9 % before and higher in some categories. The prices don't go down. If this show was by subscription only, not free radio, and it was $100 a year, and I raised the price to $110, and I say, news, good folks, next year we're only raising our prices

Think Things Are Bad Now? We're Not Even Close...
"One person to dictate the whole show but it's more than one probably other people were thinking that the point I'm trying to make about my is it bad enough theory that as bad you intelligent conservatives out there in the audience think things are the border the economy and they are public safety. The story liberals are getting from mouthpieces the in media and their government officials are things aren't that bad. Inflation is down I percent you notice how they phrase everything it is the problem is prices aren't down at all but you see how that the dipsy do flipper ooh how when you flip an argument and you make it about the inflation rate not about the price level people pay all the sudden it sounds like things aren't too bad. That's the point I was making, it's not a critique of the cops I know they've made arrests. I can't imagine the pressure and if the situation were reversed and the victim was a minority and the attackers were white this would be the FBI would be involved and the National Guard would be called in. I can only imagine the pressure they're under but no this was not a knock on the cops at all. This isn't bad enough theory is something you need to understand because it's not a theory it's real. People will not vote until the situation has gotten catastrophic. It doesn't mean we can't win elections folks we won in 2016. I'd argue we won in 2020 with all the shenanigans involved. We won. We can win. It was a rout in 2016. We won seats we had no No business winning. We can win. What I'm suggesting to you with this isn't bad enough theory is in order for a Reagan -esque 40 plus 9 state landslide a Giuliani 18 -point reelection that happened in his reelection effort in a blue state in a 50 -50 country it has to get sadly really really bad

Day 9 St. Gertrude the Great Novena Discerning Hearts Catholic Podcasts - burst 1
"Day 9 For the grace of humility, on this final day of this novena, we turn our hearts to Saint Gertrude's profound example of holy poverty. Her life, rich in virtue and devotion, continues to be a beacon that leads us to the true riches found in Christ. In the glory of heaven, she now stands before God offering her prayers on our behalf. Let us humbly ask for the grace of humility so that we, too, may embrace the spiritual poverty that opens us to God's infinite grace. And with trusting hearts, we ask Saint Gertrude to intercede for the personal intention we've carried through this novena.

Some of the softness that you are seeing in a lot of the manufacturing chemicals and manufacturing products here, and that's a sign here that we could see some more broader economic softness overall. Alright, see lubricants. They're important. Let's be careful, Carol. Let's walk through the numbers here on this Tuesday afternoon. A good day all around with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up almost 500 points, or about 1 .4 % here on the day. The S &P 500 higher by about 84 points, just a smid shy of that 4 ,500 level that it did trade above. It's going to close right around 4 ,495 and change here. That's higher by about 1 .9 % here on the day, best day for the S &P. Going back to January and the NASDAQ up about 2 % or 326 points above that 14 ,000 level. But we've got to talk about the Russell 2000, guys, because it was a phenomenal day for the Russell. A 5 .4 % gain on that index. Not only is that the best day going back to November of last year, but when you talk about the outperformance relative to the rest of the market here, and this has really been the bugaboo for so long, Carol, the idea that the Russell, the small caps, even the mid caps were not keeping pace with some of those outsize gains we had earlier this year, well, at least for today, those names are getting into the spotlight. Yeah, very, very telling. You've now got the Russell in the green year to date. It's up just about 2 % here. I just want to say, if you look at the S &P 500 remain, I mean, really broad based, and we know this, right? We've got almost roughly about 466 names to the upside today.

"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group and PayPal. It's Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, and this is Markets Daily from CoinDesk. My name is Noelle Acheson, CoinDesk collaborator and author of the Crypto as Macro Now newsletter on Substat. On today's show, we're talking about new inflows into the crypto ecosystem, inflation, and more. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice and turn on notifications. And just a reminder, CoinDesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now, a markets roundup. Crypto prices were heading down earlier today, but then we got some good news on the US inflation. I'll talk more about this in a moment. This has turned the mood around, with many assets clawing back some of the day's losses. According to CoinDesk indices, at 9 a .m. Eastern time today, Bitcoin was trading at $36 ,546, down almost 1 % over the past 24 hours, although up 1 .5 % over the past hour alone. Ether was trading down 0 .75 % over the past 24 hours at $2 ,043. Elsewhere, Cosmos, Filecoin, and the Lido DAO token were down 9%. Solana and Polkadot were down 3 .5%. Ripple's XRP token had an interesting day yesterday. A tweet reported that BlackRock had filed for an XRP trust in Delaware. This was taken as a sign that the asset manager was planning to file a proposal for a spot XRP ETF, and the asset jumped 12 % in just a few minutes. The news turned out to be fake, however. I mean, it's very, very unlikely BlackRock would file for an ETF based on asset that not only doesn't have a CME derivatives market, but is still in active securities litigation. Needless to say, the XRP price corrected sharply shortly after, with both moves triggering significant losses in derivatives positions. Earlier today, XRP was still up over the past 24 hours, but only around 1%. In macro indicators, the US inflation data for the month of October is in. And it came in soft, which is very good news. To recap, in September, the headline CP index increased by 3 .7%, and consensus estimates for October pointed to a 3 .3 % increase. That itself would have been good. But the number came in even softer, at 3 .2%. Even more relevant for the US Federal Reserve is the Core CPI index, since this strips out the volatile components of food and energy. In September, Core CPI jumped by 4 .1 % year on year, and expectations were for that rate of increase to hold steady in October. The actual figure came in at 4 .0%, the smallest increase since September 2021. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, shelter accounted for the bulk of the increase in the Core Inflation Index, but much less so than expected. And it seems lower energy prices are also doing their bit. On a monthly basis, Core CPI grew by 0 .2%, less than expected. This brings the three -month average monthly gain down to 0 .3%, lower than last year's average of 0 .5%. The average needs to come down further to give the Fed some breathing room, but it is progress. A US rate hike at the December FOMC meeting was unlikely anyway, given market tension, geopolitical fragility, and the likelihood of a government shutdown starting this weekend. This release now takes that totally off the table. As we head into record, US yields are heading down fast, with the 10 -year Treasury yield plummeting as investors were holding their breath for the inflation report. The good news in the figures has given the market a jolt of energy, with futures pointing to a very strong open. European indices were more positive yesterday, with the FTSE 100 up 0 .9%, the German DAX up 0 .6%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 up 0 .75%. The US figures are extending this trend for the DAX and the as investors digest the UK cabinet reshuffle. In Asia, stocks were cautiously positive today, with both Japan's Nikkei index and China's Shanghai Composite climbing 0 .3 % and the Hang Seng losing almost 0 .2%. In commodities, oil continues to head up, despite a report out this morning from the International Energy Agency that insists global oil markets won't be as tight as expected this quarter. The agency recognizes that demand is growing, as OPEC said yesterday, but non -OPEC supply apparently is growing even more. The market doesn't seem convinced yet, however, and the Brent crude benchmark is up 0 .4 on the day, trading at $83 .67 a barrel. After falling more than 1 % yesterday, gold today is benefiting from a drop in the $DXY index, as US yields digest the good inflation figures. Earlier today, gold was trading up over 0 .5 % at $1 ,956 per ounce. Stay with us. After the break, we're going to talk about new crypto investment.

The Eric Metaxas Show
A highlight from Larry Taunton
"Ladies and gentlemen, we all know that one plus one is two, and two plus two is four, and 4 ,782 plus 4 ,782 is 9 ,564. But did you know that there's a guy so smart, he can do all those calculations in his head. Well, at least maybe the first two. Please welcome your whiz kid of the airwaves, Eric Metaxas. Folks, welcome to the program. We have our friend Larry Taunton, LarryAlexTaunton .com. Larry Taunton, welcome. How are you? Well, I think I'm okay. A lot of tough stuff going on in the world. I want to talk to you about Israel. Why don't we start there? What's on your mind? Well, I'm growing increasingly alarmed by the pro -Palestinian, which is to say the pro -Hamas gatherings that we're seeing throughout the Western world. We've seen them in Germany. We've seen them in France. We've seen them in Spain. We're seeing them in the UK. We're seeing them in the United States, in DC, a massive one in DC. This, I hope, is revealing to many people. Well, there's a variety of things that I hope is waking them up to. One is bad immigration policies. I mean, we've allowed the orcs into the shire, so to speak. And then, obviously, the potential terrorists who are living in our midst and anti -Semitism, the growth. I've seen that you've been tweeting about this a little bit in reference to your excellent bestselling book, Bonhoeffer. What we're seeing, brother, is some frightening stuff. Well, a couple of things. First of all, let's be clear. As with the Antifa protests, as with the BLM protests, this is kind of organized. In other words, this is not grassroots. I hope people are coming out. There are people, I don't know if it's George Soros, I don't know who is behind it, but there is no doubt that they are organized to do this. Most of these people don't have actual jobs. They're single and stupid and foolish, and they are easily manipulated to, hey, let's come out. So part of that is the theater. It's the PR war. And it seems to me that the radical left excels in this, that they can get thousands of people out to give the impression that, oh, there are a lot of people that hate Israel. And you kind of think, well, there are a lot of crazy people who have that view. But part of me wants to say that most people understand that Israel has a right to exist, that what happened on October 7th is evil and needs to be dealt with. So on the one hand, yes, the orcs have let into the shire, but on the other hand, there are people trying to manipulate public perception and using these rallies to do that. Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly with that, Eric. I think the comparison to the Antifa and BLM riots, really, they were much more than rallies, much more than protests, is a good one because that's what we're seeing here. But we're seeing it in much larger numbers, it appears to me. And this is directly connected with terrorism. I mean, at least BLM could pretend, have the veneer that theirs was respectable, peaceful about civil rights. When we're talking about groups of people gathering in support of the Palestinians in a war that was launched by Hamas, we're talking about direct support for an organization that is very friendly with a terrorist regime in Iran, with the Taliban, and with Hezbollah. So we are talking about outright terrorism, and that there are people, respectable people, people I like, even some conservatives, who seem to be on that side of the argument, I find distressing. When you say conservatives, I mean, who are we talking about? I'm amazed. Well, I'll not out friends of mine here. I'll just simply say that there are not necessarily even big accounts. I'm just talking about people that you see on social media, and with whom I have conversations, who are thoughtful conservative people who would read your books and mine, and yet seem to be falling on that side of the issue. And I find myself continually saying to them, what is it that you're seeing that is leading you to this conclusion? And you know what their response is? They will refer to a video or something to that effect that I'm almost certain is fake. I'm seeing a lot of stuff that is being put out, I'm almost certain is being put out by Hamas shows that babies that are supposedly babies that have been targeted, not just merely injured incidentally by the Israelis, but targeted by the Israelis. Okay, look, common sense tells you, ladies and gentlemen, that Israel doesn't do that. That's a lie. That is an absolute lie. Israel doesn't do that. The United States doesn't do that. If anyone ever does that, they're prosecuted, they're put in jail. So you want to talk about Abu Ghraib or whatever, we go after that kind of thing. We don't promote that kind of thing. And so you're right, Larry, that that this is being put out to fool what we used to call bleeding heart liberals into, oh, look what Israel is doing. But the fact is, this is what Hamas does. This is what ISIS does. This is what they do. This is who they are. And also, I mean, let's be clear. They are liars. They don't have a problem with lying. They don't have a problem with murdering and mutilating and raping. And so they will say anything and do anything. And the left seems to fall for it over and over again. I mean, I'm going back decades. It's amazing to me how the left falls for this stuff, because we would all condemn atrocities. There's no doubt about that, that this if were true, we would be the first ones to condemn it. But these atrocities are happening on the other side and people are acting like, well, they're both guilty. Not in this case, folks. We've got to be very clear. We've got to have moral clarity.

"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group and PayPal. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice and turn on notifications. And just a reminder, CoinDesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now a markets roundup. After the hectic activity at the end of last week as markets reacted to BlackRock's filing of an EtherSpot ETF proposal, the weekend seemed like an oasis of calm. So far today, the market looks mixed. According to Coindesk Indices, at 9 a .m. Eastern Time this morning, Bitcoin was down two thirds of a percent over the past 24 hours, trading at $36 ,873. Ether was up one third, trading at $2 ,059. Elsewhere, Filecoin was up 14%, Cosmos was up 10%, Optimism and the Lido DAO token were up 5%. Solana was down 1 % after what has been an astonishing run. Over the past week, the asset is up over 40%. You may remember that in an early October episode, I pulled out the average performance of Bitcoin for the month of October going back to 2010, which was 27%. I calculated that if Bitcoin achieved that average performance during the month, the price would reach just over $34 ,000. Well, that's pretty much what happened. Do please note, I am not saying I know where the price is going, and the October result was pure coincidence, I don't have a crystal ball. But let's try the same exercise for November just for fun. November historically has been on average an even better month than October, with an average performance going back to 2011 of 44%. If this November meets its average, and it's a big if, that would put the Bitcoin price at just over $49 ,000. It's a pleasant thing to keep in mind. In macro indicators, today I have more news from the University of Michigan Consumer Survey. You may remember a couple of weeks ago, I talked about why this survey was worth watching. It's because of what it says about how consumers are feeling, which could impact future spending. Well, on Friday, we got the details for October, and there are some worrying signals in there. Inflation expectations one year out are now at 4 .4%, much higher than the expected 4%, and higher than September's 4 .2%. This is the highest level since May, which signals that the rate hikes are not doing what they're supposed to do, which is bring down corporate and consumer spending and reset expectations. The fact that consumer inflation expectations are more than double the official target is not nearly as worrying as the fact that they are heading up. And it's especially relevant since it is something Fed Chair Jerome Powell has said he keeps an eye on, as inflation expectations can influence behavior. This rise in the University of Michigan's survey result further confirms that rate cuts are not on the table just yet, and probably won't be for a while, at least until this number comes down to close to 2%. The University of Michigan inflation expectations for five years out also came in higher than expected at 3 .2%. This is lower than the 12 -month expectations, which is good, but it does send the signal that the Fed's inflation target won't be reached even in five years.

Connor Farley of Truvius writes, Fundamentals -driven valuation frameworks for crypto assets are emerging both within and across different sectors of the crypto market. The pending regulatory approval and institutional offering of vehicles for exposure to mega -cap assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum is an important first step toward broad -based investor adoption. But the next step involves unlocking broad, diversified exposure to all sectors within the crypto economy. It is critical not to overlook the fundamental value of blockchain -powered technologies that are driving new business sectors like decentralized financial services and smart contract platforms. Cutting -edge investors should develop investment strategies for these sectors. Market commentators often generalize non -mega -cap crypto assets as altcoins, primarily owing to the nascency of the asset class and the learning curve associated with its mosaic of use -cases. However, this generalization overshadows the significant opportunities for data -driven relative value comparisons both within and across various sectors and assets other than Bitcoin and Ethereum. For example, while news coverage converged on Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF speculation this week, crypto assets within the CoinDesk computing and smart contract sectors including Chainlink, Cosmos, Polygon, and Solana, which all have circulating market capitalizations in the billions of dollars, meaningfully outperformed the two heavy mega -caps. From a fundamentals perspective, over the last week, Polygon saw healthy network usage and stronger centralized exchange flows activity relative to peers. Solana and LINK exhibited strong price momentum and were also aided by relatively stronger activity from software developers contributing to these projects over the quarter. Like what you're hearing? Markets Daily Crypto Roundup
A highlight from Crypto Update | What Would It Take to Get Bitcoin to $40K?
"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group and PayPal. It's Friday, November 10th, 2023, and this is Markets Daily from Coindesk. My name is Noelle Acheson, Coindesk collaborator and author of the Crypto is Macro Now newsletter on Substack. On today's show, we're talking about crypto market dynamics, a possible Ether spot ETF, a shift in rates expectations, and more. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice and turn on notifications. And just a reminder, Coindesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now, a markets roundup. In crypto markets, yesterday saw a bit of a narrative pivot. After Bitcoin's strong surge yesterday, it pulled back, but is still up almost 6 % over the past week. According to Coindesk Indices, at 9 a .m. Eastern time today, Bitcoin was down eight tenths over the past 24 hours, trading at $36 ,962. Ether was where most of the large cap action was. Earlier today, Ether was up almost 8%, trading at $2 ,074. It is up 15 % over the past week. Ether's strong outperformance this week, yesterday and today, can be attributed to the news that BlackRock, the largest asset manager in the world, has filed for an Ether spot ETF. This step makes sense as, in principle, the same market factors that would approve a Bitcoin spot ETF are present for Ether. The asset is not as large in market cap or as liquid as Bitcoin. That is not a prerequisite for an ETF wrapper. And nor should the proposal be impacted by the lack of regulatory clarity around Ether, whether or not it is a security. The ETF shares will be securities. The underlying asset could be or not. It shouldn't matter. The SEC will be mainly concerned with market transparency, which is essentially the same for both assets. There could, however, be some issues around whether or not staking rewards could be distributed. That might become a legal question. As with Bitcoin, a listed spot Ether ETF in the US could bring in a lot of new demand, especially since Ether has notably underperformed Bitcoin so far this year. It's still early days in this process, and obviously the ecosystem can't count on SEC chair Gary Gensler's cooperation. But it's a very interesting development that could have an impact on the relative performance of Ether going forward. It seems to also be impacting what are known as Ethereum ecosystem tokens. Optimism is up 7 % over the past 24 hours. Arbitrum is up 4%. And the Lido DAO token is up 17%. In macro indicators, earlier this week, I talked about why we should pay attention to what US Federal Reserve officials are saying. Today, I'm going to focus on one particular official, Fed chair Jerome Powell. Speaking at an IMF conference yesterday, Chair Powell sounded more hawkish than many had expected. Hawkish in Fed speak means talking interest rates up, while dovish talk suggests rates will come down. I don't know where these terms came from, but I think of it as hawks generally fly higher than doves. Anyway, back to Powell. Many were expecting to hear the same sort of neutral tone that he had at the recent FOMC press conference, in which he said that long -term US yields could take care of some of the necessary tightening of economic conditions. Back then, 10 -year Treasury yields were above 4 .9%. Since then, largely encouraged by Powell's remarks and by signs that the jobs market is finally cooling, yields have corrected sharply, down to below 4 .5 % yesterday. So, it's fair to assume that maybe the Federal Reserve won't be so confident that it can pause because long -term yields are high when they're coming down. Sure enough, Powell's words yesterday included phrases such as, and I quote, if it becomes appropriate to tighten policy further, we will not hesitate to do so, end quote. Powell also stressed that the Fed was not confident that it had achieved the appropriate policy stance to bring inflation down to 2%. Basically, this was Powell telling the market that it was wrong to assume peak rates were in. Sure enough, yields started heading up again, passing above 4 .6 % yesterday. This morning, they are settling back and are currently at 4 .57%. Stocks also reacted, more than undoing the week's gains. In the US, the S &P 500 dropped 0 .8%, the NASDAQ dropped almost 1%, and the Dow Jones fell by over 0 .6%. Futures this morning are pointing to a modest recovery on the open.

We're bad threes or something like that, but they just, I think now that Paul George is out for the rest of the regular season. Pretty huge that Russ was just sitting there on the street for them to go sign. And like I said, spraying two to three weeks. He's going to come back. Now what? What? Now that is for you, actually. Oh, what do you got?

The change is coming as metro tries cutting down on the number of fairy vaders. Micro says one in 8 riders is now vaulting, stepping over or forcing open the fair gates to prevent fair evasion the agency's been testing a different design gate at the fort totten station. It looks like a swinging saloon door. It's a higher four feet tall door that opens and closes when someone swipes their smart trip card. It'll take about $40 million in 15 months to have the new fair doors at every metro station. Neil Logan stain WTO. You're the only district in the state that is closing schools currently. Have you thought about that? Brian Simpson, come on news. More Washington teachers are leaving the classrooms now that at any point in the past three decades, an analysis by the Calder center shows the teacher attrition rate last year was nearly 9% more than a percentage point higher than the attrition rate after any of the previous 37 school years. The overall turnover rate was almost 20% in 2022. As now for 37, the rate of initial COVID vaccinations amongst the other public school students rose from 56.5% to 80.3% between December 21 and June of 22. That from a new CDC report, which has the biggest increases were among students ages 5 to 11, as well as black and multilingual students. It credits an effort from Seattle King County public health and community groups aimed at schools with lower vaccination rates as well as clinics. Sarah regal with public health says they learned valuable lessons. That we can value the strengths of the relationships and the existing resources and services that are included in our schools like the school based health centers, for example, they can continue to provide routine childhood immunizations, those that are required for school and others along with COVID vaccines for students and their families. The CDC also suggests that high vaccination rates may have also played a role in the increases. Metro bus drivers want the health department to take that comments on the effects of fentanyl smoke. "I'm an immigration, so we're hearing that this idea to detain families and attention again is one of a lot of policies that are currently under consideration as title 42 restrictions are going to possibly end on May 11. So I wonder if you can rule out family detention or what can you say about the idea that families may or may not be detained migrant families may or may not be detained. So I'm not going to go in on rumors that are out there or conversations that are happening at this time. The department, as you know, as you just noted calling the Department of Homeland Security, is certainly continuing to prepare for the eventual lift of title 42. So yeah, and the no answer is there. No answers at all. Well, the good news is that we have a very energetic and with a president of the United States to help us through all this. So Joe Biden, who seems to appear on TV, a lot more often than Joe. Probably because she's still alive. So she has been going around doing a media tour in the absence of the president of the United States who is her husband. And in the middle of this media tour she keeps getting asked about the fact that she is basically Edith Wilson and they're wheeling Joe around in a chair. And she has some answers. Here was her answer yesterday as to how fit Joe Biden is. What do you say to those people who say, maybe he's too old to be president? Are those fair questions in conversations to be having? I say, look at what he's done. You know, look at what he's doing. Look at how physically he's got the good bill of health from the doctors to his physicals. "And I loved research. I knew finance had a close corollary to econ. I was in Chicago, Morningstar being a big research firm. So I applied and was hired as an ECF analyst in 2005. They were actually relatively nascent. They were back then. You were there really as they exploded O 8 O 9. More or less, after the crisis, right? That's right. And so Morningstar coverage was really just getting started on ETFs and the 2005 period. And of course, now it's a very robust coverage. It's sophisticated. It has a philosophy. But then we were still feeling our way. And so there was a lot of need on the act of mutual fund front. And so my coverage list kind of converted over time to focus more on mutual funds to focus on 5 two 9 plans, college savings. I was getting my CFA charter around that time. So it was a period of, I guess I would call it intense study, intense focus on understanding different investment strategies, what makes a good investment strategy. I think a lot of people think of Morningstar and rightly so for the star ratings, which are performance measurements, but Morningstar spends a lot of time actually doing fundamental work. And analysis on what makes a good mutual fund. The people, the process, and that work. And that's where I was spending my time as an analyst. So how do you find your way from economists to analysts to asset manager? So in 2008, I just perceived my CFA charter and I was beginning to look around and think about where else would I want to go in this company or outside the company. And at that time, the Morningstar managed portfolios, team, which as you mentioned, is a subsidiary of Morningstar. Had an opening. And so I tossed my hat in the ring. And moved over in October of 2008. I've read that investors are really marked by the environment in which they kind of come of age. And so I came of age in the global financial crisis. And I mean, there were so many lessons learned that maybe I had to process over time. One of them was very smart, very credible people with very good backgrounds and experience can be very, very wrong. And I saw that firsthand with some of the analysis that was done at that time. I saw how personal money is. Let me give you some background on Morningstar managed portfolios. These are portfolios that we're creating whether they're individual stocks or whether they're multi asset portfolios, that we offer to financial advisers who in turn offer them to their clients. And so our customer base is financial advisers and their underlying clients. And so over that period, we were having maybe biweekly, weekly calls with financial advisers, just opening up the doors and having a conversation. We were doing the same with clients. And I can remember one client and he was saying, just go to cash. Please just go to cash. And you know, it really struck home with me that money is very personal, that it's closely tied to security. And when we look at price movements on a chart, sometimes we forget what it feels like to be at those different points on the chart. And it just stuck with me. This idea that this is a very serious matter. When you're managing folks assets. Coming up, we continue our conversation with Martin Norton, chief investment officer of Morningstar investment management, discussing

"My guess is, I mean, well, they'll be on the road against Minnesota on Thanksgiving, so I don't know if that's gonna be a factor, but they've worn them on the road before, especially on Thanksgiving because that's like the one game that stands out in my head is that Thanksgiving game in Detroit. I think it was where they were. Well, they did that twice. They didn't know too, and then in, I think, go 9, whatever. I'm sure my brand is remembering O 9 more than O two. I feel like it was that long haired Brady. I feel like it was long hair to number 9. For 9 or ten or whatever, the reason I remember the O2 game, it's the first time in my life watching football I saw running back split out outside the numbers. They put in the motion Antoine Smith all the way to the outside. I thought it was the wildest thing I'd ever seen. Yeah. So the pat patriot logo, the helmets look absolute fire. I love the stripes down the middle of the helmet. I don't remember the old ones having those stripes down the middle. So the ones they wore in O 9 were a little different. There's like 5 or 6 different iterations of the white helmet and there's different color face masks and everything. The ones they wore in O 9 were that was the remember the 50th anniversary of the AFL. So those were based on the almost entirely. They actually used a different logo. And in 1960, they had a different logo. It was just like a hat. If you Google try corn logo. Anyway, those are based on the 19 the ones from 1960, the ones they wore in 2009. The ones they wore in ten, 11 and 12 and the ones they're bringing back now is more like the mid 80s to early 90s. Got it. Is what that one's based on the shoulder stripes a little different. There's the third stripe. You're thinking of just the two red stripes on the helmet. These ones have a blue in between the two red. So that's like the 80s. It looks great. I was kind of hoping they'd bring them back with the red face mask. I like the white too. But yeah, no, it's cool. It's fun. That's why I normally try to be like, you know, objective journalist on the show. I wear my high school hat or just the generic logos, but I had to break this out today. I didn't do the Jersey. I don't have my Steve grove in Jersey with me, unfortunately. If you're talking about like what games are they gonna wear them right? I look at the last two of the last three times in ten to 12, they warm against the jets, so I feel like there's a possibility there. In the opener against the ravens, like getting it going early, I could see that. I could see one of the holiday games late in the season. I think week 6, whatever it is against the bangles. Yeah, week 16, Christmas Eve day. Again, Cincinnati red like Santa like that would be awesome. Thursday night against the bills feels like a possibility. The two I don't..

"So Elizabeth Banks is directing a new movie called cocaine bear. And it's based on a true story from 1985. It's a fucking doozy. Back in those days, 85, the head of the height of the cocaine era, a black bear, stumbled upon a duffel bag, filled with 70 pounds of blow. It's worth $15 million. And some forest in Kentucky. The poor bear comes around and says, holy shit, a bag of food for me. You know, they can smell things in mile away. He scarves it all down, and he dies of an overdose. Right near the bed. I mean, he just fucking dropped dead. His body was found months later. Right next to the bag, which was empty. So what happened is the drugs had been dropped from an airplane by a local smuggler. This guy that was once a former comp who was also killed at the hit in his head while he was parachuting out of the plane. And 9 more bags of cocaine were recovered. I mean, Jesus Christ. Maybe I spoil the movie, but I don't think so, because there's a lot of angles to this and they're not quite saying what angle they're going to take. Is it going to be told from the people who find the dead bear from that angle from the angle that a guy jumping out of the plane? Who knows for the cops who went to try to solve the case? I don't know. But it's going to be produced by Phil lord and Chris Miller. These guys did Star Wars story, The Lego Movie, Spider-Man, cloudy with a chance of meatballs. They got a good imagination. But Elizabeth Banks in the director's chair, you know what? She did pitch perfect to terrible movie unless you would shake and it's just not even like a cool chick, a corny chick, she did the Charlie's Angels, which was fucking awful. So I don't know why she's getting a third chance. Everybody loves this woman. I like her as an actress, but I don't know who's going to play the doomed drug smuggler. I don't know who's going to play the bear for that

"Right. If that's the case if there is either or both of objective or subjective diminishment during the time of discernment than the constellation with preceding 'cause and the thoughts that arose from. It are not of god and should not be followed. So that what kathy with father marks help is going to need to do during these months is to use ignatius vocabulary. Give much attention to the course of these thoughts and as to whether there is no diminishment or there is such diminishment as these months go by and then ignatius gets even more specific six signed three objective three subjective by which we can identify an end that is of the enemy so if the end. Let's say deke. Kathy comes in her seventh meeting with Father mark and says you know. It really seems to me at this point that god really wants me to pursue the inner city school. That's the next step to which he's calling me all right at that point she has reached with. Ignatius would call the end in the course of the thoughts She has come to a conclusion. Now if there are if such is signs such as he's company that end it leads to something. Bad ignatius says distractive or less good than the person had planned to do before or on the subject of level if it weakens a soul as she goes through these months disquiet the sole troubles taking away the piece that the person had before this process of discernment began so that there is objective diminishment that is in terms of what the person plans to do. Or a subjective diminishment. That is in the person's spiritual energy both of these by comparison with what the person was doing objectively and experiencing subjectively before the constellation with preceding. 'cause and new thought of the new initiative began if we see either kind of diminishment. These are clear signs of the enemy. So let's look at each of these signs firstly the three signs of an objective diminishment and firstly. Something bad ignatius says no. Let's keep in mind that we're speaking of people in the second spiritual situation charles barbara and and so forth kathy patricia. These are people who really love the lord and are very generous and serving the lord and only that's all they want so that when ignatius speaks of the end of the process of discerning discernment turning of leading to something bad. We could understand bad. Firstly in a moral sense that is that if the person does not discern the enemies good and holy thoughts and pursues them to the fulfilment of what ignatius 'cause his perverse intentions they could lead to something that is morally bad. That's not going to happen quickly or lightly or easily such persons but if there is no discernment and if the person an undiscerning pursues these what are genuinely good and holy thoughts are not of god and if pursued will lead the person away from what god wants it could eventually lead to something that would be bad in a moral sense more likely however would ignatius has in mind here is that it will lead to something bad for this person who is very goodwill and out of love for the lord will pursue something that is What the ignatius calls the hidden deceits of the enemy disguised as an angel of light. So that charles. For example with goodwill and undiscerning lee believing presuming each case that. This is the enemy at work. So i'm just going to presume that right now in each of these examples for the sake of clarifying. What ignatius sang in rule five. Let's presume that it really is of the enemy. The constellation and the thought of serving the young and there are apparent reasons and subtleties and so forth. At work in. This charles may will find that what will happen is he really doesn't have equalities. That person really needs or at least doesn't have them in the same way that he has the qualities to serve the parish with liturgy and finance and he may begin this work. Find out that it just really isn't going as well as he'd hoped and finding wind up finding himself discouraged in that sense. This end of this course of thoughts was bad for charles. It was not a good thing for him. And if pursued could wind up a weakening his energy more broadly for for what is a very fruitful service in the parish and barbara as she pursues a further and further steps in the simplification of her life out of a love for the simplicity and poverty of christ life may find that she is gradually getting worn. And this is leading something that's Siphoning away the rich spiritual energy with which he was pursuing the lord in her life of prayer and her involvement at work and in the parish. So this would be something bad for barbara. And then cathy as she pursues the thought of the inner city school perhaps May find it difficult for her to adapt to a multicultural school and that her knowledge of spanish is less than she thought and she struggles to communicate and finds that her teaching is now less effective and touching the lives of fewer students. It has led to something indignation sense that is bad for kathy. So the objective diminishment may be that it leads to some the end leads to something bad or ignatius says something distractive that is that pulls the. It's a good thing but it pulls the person away from the good thing that god genuinely wants the person to do and therefore leads to harm objectively for the people affected and eventually also for the person distractive so That is this is the end is not something bad but for this person is a distraction from what god truly wants for this person for him or her. You remember that when ignatius trying to learn latin the memorization involve as As young as a student in his early thirties with these young boys and the spiritual constellations and the good and holy thoughts that are poured out abundantly upon him in the time dedicated to memorizing congregations and declenchant and so forth is precisely this quality of the fact that these constellations associated thoughts distract him from what he knows. The lord wants of him he needs to learn latin if he is in fact to pursue the calling to the priesthood which he has discerned at this point. It's that distractive quality of these constellations and good and holy thoughts that leads ignatius to discern that these are not of the good spirit will return to the second week rules for the discernment of spirits with father.
