"AP sports I'm Josh rowntree. We start on the NBA where Memphis took a game over Dallas with multiple stars sidelined. Correspondent Robert Stevens has more. Desmond baines scored 23 points as the Memphis Grizzlies completed a two game sweep of the Dallas Mavericks, one O four 88. Naz played without Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving both injured while the grizzlies were again without John morant. Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins says his team up this defensive intensity in the second half. Come out of halftime with just a renewed energy and mentality. Hey, we got to raise our level both sides of the floor. We made a couple adjustments defensively that paid off for us, which got us going with our groove on offense. And obviously that third quarter kind of changed the game. David roddy and Dylan Brooks had 19 apiece from Memphis while Jaden hardy led the Mavs with 28. Josh green at 23. Bob Stevens Dallas. In Houston, the rockets knocked off the Celtics one 11 one O 9. And jabari Smith scored 24 to lead the young rockets, one of the best teams in the league, where it was in the finals last year, you know, just competing with him. You know, going down to the wire like that with a great team like that. It's just real promise in this room. It's really good for us. The bucks beat the kings one 33, one 24. Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 46 in the win. The warriors took down the sun's one 23 one 12 behind 38 points from Klay Thompson, including 33 in the first half. On the ice, buffalo scored three third period goals rallying to beat Toronto four three. Alex tuck at the 30 goal mark with a pair in the final frame. We kind of got back to just trying to work and make simple plays and you know I just roll over one line after another after another and it makes a huge difference out there and big news in the opening day of NFL free agency. The Raiders reportedly filled their QB void by agreeing to terms with former 49er. Jimmy Garoppolo on a three year deal worth, 67 and a half $1 million. The bears are set to give linebacker tremaine Edmonds a four year $72 million contract and the Steelers are bringing on three time all pro corner Patrick Peterson for a two year deal. "Number of other doctors and nurses get kind of more diverse viewpoints, talk to a dietician recently, also had a really cool conversation with First Lady of the West Coast. It's a musician out of California of the Oakland area. And we both talked about our own sort of personal struggles dealing with bipolar and how cannabis, how we utilize cannabis to deal with symptoms around that. Which I thought was just a very needed conversation because mental health and cannabis use is kind of a still a very taboo thing even in the cannabis industry. So lots of cool things going on there. And then sort of the thing I'm really excited about is that I think the last time I came on the podcast, I mentioned that one of the things we were about to do was launch an online learning platform. Correct, yeah. And that didn't happen last year. I was working on it, but it just didn't happen. But I'm really excited to say that it's come together. And now it'll be launching here in the next month or two. It's going to launch to my patrons first to give them sort of the first go to check it out and give us feedback and that sort of thing. And then after that, it'll launch to the public. And it's not just content that I'm producing, but I'm bringing in guest people that listeners will recognize from the curious about cannabis podcast. I'm working with Anthony, doctor Anthony Smith. To develop content, so we're sort of reunited and building courses and stuff.

Core Scientific Paid More Than $1M to CEO-Affiliated Jet Company

"Okay, first story, as you can see, if you're watching the video, but I'll read out the headline if you're just listening to the audio. Crypto minor course scientific paid more than 1 million to CEO affiliated personal jet companies according to coin desk. This story actually came out over the summer, but we have a little more details now because it's chapter 11 filings. Essentially here, of course, scientific was using a affiliate company, the CEO, Michael of it, to fly a private jet to and from assume his residence in other executives at core scientific and then to their facilities, the excuse being for efficient travel and use of time, stone, tower air is a charter flight company used in the past by core scientific for primarily transporting employees clients and personal or potential our data center sites and remote locations, which are often far from major airports. As according to chief mining officer, Russell can. It's an interesting statement. I will say that I'm like, yes, there's trouble remote stuff. But there's definitely term people's headlines. There's a lot of money for a company that's known chapter 11. It's definitely something you cover. Want to throw it over to you, get your take on it. Anyway, I think you had a pretty good analysis over the summer when we first saw this came out. I don't want to, I don't want to butcher it because I know this headline says it's like 1.65 mil, not like originally we thought it was somewhere between two and four mil in total, not just for 2022. I could be wrong about that. But you had a tweet basically comparing it to other industries and how much their executives spend on jet travel. And it was kind of like, it was a lot more than even a lot of mainstream tech companies. Yeah. And I think that just my quick take is it just kind of speaks to the exuberance is that we see a lot of these administrations that run these Bitcoin mining companies as public miners. We had some pretty good analysis from one of our analysts here in meru. It has trade index. He ran some numbers for public minor administrative costs as a percentage of revenue since 2021. And core scientific spent 41% of their revenue on administrative costs since 2021. And that's actually kind of in the middle of the pack. If you look at some other miners, you know, marathon spent 88% iris spent 56 and 55% clean spark 53%, but digital 45% stronghold 43%. And then we get to core scientific coming in at 7th overall, these public companies in terms of public spending for administration as a ratio of revenue. So 41% to me seems pretty high. This is something that Yara has been harping on for a while that a lot of these executives of these public miners are very handsomely compensated.

Chiefs edge Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII thriller

"8 piece sports and Mike Reeves, the chiefs win the Super Bowl in a thriller correspondent Greg eklund has the story. Harrison butker kicked the game winning field goal from 27 yards out with 8 seconds left to the game and the Kansas City Chiefs edged the Philadelphia Eagles and Super Bowl 57, 38 to 35. After a Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay, two years ago and losing in the AFC championship last year, chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named the Super Bowl MVP. I appreciate it because of the failures. I mean, the failure of losing a Super Bowl and losing AFC championship game and it gives you a greater appreciation to be standing here as a champion. On the college hardwood men's top ranked Purdue falls at northwestern 64 58 with the wildcats getting 26 points from boo boo. It's finally starting to show what the real answer is and I'm just super excited that we were able to get this win tonight and show everybody what we could really do. No. 9 Kansas blows lead, then holds off No. 5 Texas, 88-80

"The 9th ranked Kansas Jayhawks upset the 5th ranked Texas longhorns 88 to 80. After Texas battled to tie it early in the second half, Kansas fought back to a 13 point lead, padded by freshmen Grady dick, who led the jayhawks with 21 points. It was vital that we came out here with that energy and kept it through the whole game and whether it be through a timeout out of halftime and hats off to them, there are great athletic team. Texas held jayhawk leading score Jalen Wilson to two points on the night, but Kansas spread it out with 5 different players scoring double digits. With the win, Kansas is three and O against opponents ranked in the top ten for the season. Ian Ekland Lawrence, Kansas.

"Talking about a really hugely serious subject. It's gruesome. Tom Hamlin is my guest. He's retired air force major and electrical engineer who's taken it upon himself to investigate investigate something that he first noticed while watching a film tell us about the film because I think many people will want to watch the film. And by the way, that film is extremely disgusting, but if you're maybe it'll encourage you to eat less and you lose weight because it's that disgusting, but it's a film called die suddenly. Suddenly, go ahead. It appeared on the stew Peter's network is you can still find it, I think, a rumble. And it's about an hour long documentary about half the film about a half hours devoted to these 7 ballers finding these white fibers clots. Like I said, I was happy that my survey had a verify corroborated with 88 embalmers seeing the same thing that those 7 or so in the diet suddenly film saw. And I want to piggyback on something you said before the break, Eric. You know, it's important for people to pray. Doctor Ryan Cole has also said that there's a good chance that if you haven't had any negative side effect from the vaccine, you may be all right because a lot of people may have gotten what we call duds because if you remember the vaccines are supposed to be stored a very cold temperatures. And you remember a lot of long lines in the summertime at stadiums and stuff, people getting their vaccine, maybe by the time they got their vaccine dose, the mRNA had turned inert. So there's a good chance if you're not having any problems, you're not suffering any site ill side effects that you may have gotten a dud and you say ineptitude can be a blessing.

Help Todd Starnes Grow Across Stations in America

"A matter of fact, we love talking to our local radio stations that carry this program. We love going to those towns and communities and doing our book signings, and being a part of the fabric of the community. I mean, that's what it's all about. I mean, we have a giant front porch with a lot of cracker barrel rocking chairs. And we're always excited to hang out with you guys every single day. But it's a grassroots effort. It's not some sort of a big corporation ordering local radio stations. You have to carry this show. We don't care if it's good or not. You have to carry this show. And we've been very fortunate, and we've been very successful. We have about a 140 radio stations. They carry this program. And we think we think the good lord for every single one of those stations. Every single day. We have a little over 500 radio stations that carry my daily commentary. Many of you hear the commentary, and we thank the good lord every single day. For the radio stations they carry our commentaries. So anyway, we are ready to grow and grace baker is heading up our affiliate team here at the Todd stern show and we want to be able to get on a local radio station. So so many of you listen to us on our digital platform. So you may say Todd, our local talk radio station does not carry you how can we make that happen? Well, it's very simple. You can call grace baker and she's going to ask where you live. She wants to know your city, your state, and what radio station listened to. And we will personally reach out and then we need you to do the same thing. We need you to reach out as well to your local radio station. So give grace a call 8 four four 747 88 68. That's 8, four, four, 7, four, 7, 88, 68. And we're going to do this together. And we're going to celebrate together.

Well, you know, you want to find something that you can record on the road so easily with yes, And that and you've been playing with this microphone all afternoon. Oh, yes, I have it right here. Yes. Well, you have going crazy. You're really over. Complicating the salute Should I use to record remotely? You've heard me say it a dozen times. You plug that into your phone, You can plug it into inaugural cord on your phone. Yeah, I used the sure motive app. That gives me a wave file. The quality of that microphone is just only a half a step or a step down from your PR 40. It's a good mike. That 8 21 100. I agree. Very nice and it's cheap. Yeah, 100 bucks. It's 100 bucks. You're not spending a lot of money with it. I keep wanting. I bought it because of you. I bought you want to I keep one of the trunk of my car. I keep one of my go bag. I haven't ready anytime. And I wish that you would take that How small this is and I don't need a phone. That's true. We're talking about this tool. A battery powered Mike with the And he's got 12 gigs or eight gigs of storage in it, so I can record But you know, it's not so different from a zoom. That's another device. People use very popular that you can record another good one. Yeah, The zoom is a great one. And it hasn't built in mics. Two. I'm disappointed. Honestly, this is a Condenser Mike. We've talked about this before we did not. This was not on the air. I was showing this off during the break. This is the T U l A mic, But it's a condenser mic And I don't like condenser mics. I don't like the sound and I have to say it sounds a little muddy on this. So you know I should just carry the eight year one of the reasons though. I will be honest with you. One of the reasons I'm looking for an alternative is because I on your I can't blame you. It was my recommendation. I told one of our host Jeff Jarvis to get the er 2100 and know it was Paul threat to get the 80 Year 2100 for because he was going to Mexico so we could do the show with us, and it never worked right? It was terrible. We had a he had a. He used his laptop Mike, which was even worse for the for both episodes from Mexico. And so now I'm worried about the fragility of the 8 21 100 do. I've never had a problem with it? I banged him around. It's as solid as the as an S. M wonder what he did. I wonder what happened to it. He may have gotten a bad one. It's possible audio. Technica guarantees it for life. Well, I'll tell him he should send it back to women. He did replace it now and then he said, Oh, but it needs fan of power. I said no, That's why you get the 2100 and 2500 because it's a Dynamic mic that doesn't need fan and power. So I don't really by the way on the audio technical site. They've got that wrong. They have that wrong. They say it does need phantom power. That's where he was looking. But it doesn't only needs phantom power if you plug the headphones directly into the mic. And it will draw the power. It draws power from my iPhone without right, right, so I don't know what's going on. But if you don't if you use it as an XLR connector, no problem If you plug it directly, union USB connected the USB mic. Yeah, because of you and others who have recommended this. That's my stock recommendations. People want a portable High quality Mike for their podcast or whatever. It's inexpensive. The tr Audio technica 80 are 2100 X, right? The ex? Yeah, that's a new one that takes USB three U. S. B. C c. I like that. Um, yeah, You know, it's funny. I don't I don't know why Paul was having trouble with it. But he was maybe I don't know. I'm looking for something. So this is a little more compact. As you can tell. It's very small. "On the some songwriter in the film is sort of like something that he would put his fellow songwriters. Keep up the good fight. This other song called the song. Writers is more like something that he gives to his audience. Saying hey appreciate what. We do is another waltz and he sings. We get to break out of prison. Have beef breakfast in boston. Drink run in jamaica later that night with students where teachers where the devil where preaches we love mostly one nighters where the song writers and is basically saying right. We get to do all this stuff. We live vicariously through other experiences. And you as music lovers get to live vicariously through our experiences over the love that thirty years ago and had that in the film as well but i love songs about the art of songwriting is such a fantastic. So that's not in the film. Take another five hundred out of there for gino calling me an alcoholic son of a bitch only reason i drank so people won't think i'm dope fee. It was interesting how it could have been really easy for rip torn to basically redo his character from payday in this. I like how he just fits in. It would be hard for a lot of actors to come across as being a country and western performer. Being in the industry beside guys. Who really are like chris. Willie but i think rip darndest. He nails it in. This say accent was entirely convincing. Knock echo scooters. Real bad on won't sell everything belt. Buckle menachem caps t shirts piss. Warm beer picked programs popcorn peanuts. Oh shoot match. We don't have to do nothing. But otherwise i think you're right. Say just one of those guys that i imagine. You probably drying can awful lot to prepare for the role. You've just torn isn't it. He's just as i said at the start. This is the third film of saying him involved in where he's got something to do with the music industry so there was payday where he's on the other side. He's the performer. Rather than the management is a character with his demons. And then the other film that remember from was one trick pony which was paul simon's but an autobiographical. That was yeah. That was about him being probably not autobiographical. Because he's by playing a musician. Who was a has bain and just basically trying to keep his head up on the road and rip torn plays a record label head. Honcho is trying to get him in the thing. That songwriter has in common with one trick. Pony is in both films. A major character sleeps with rip torn wife but of course in songwriter. The richton character isn't gonna put up with that. Shit you know what was a real tragedy of the seventies not go on tangent but just for a second real tragedy of the seventies was the fact that we never ever got a buddy cop movie. We'd rip torn and dennis hopper privacy. That didn't matter what he was in he was so. Who's your plan rip torn. Yeah i know but who played in the movie he is. Who is the thing. That i sort of got confused about the start of the film when we i say and we sort of aright. He's going to be the villain of the pace and he's so the first time we see his character. Basically he's gone and booked kris kristofferson 's character for a gig that he knows he's not going to show up but he's going to put someone else on state so he doesn't have to give the ticket money back to the audience. He packs a pistol in his shoes. In cases any danger as michael collins said in the godfather. It's not personal. Strictly what's kris kristofferson does roll up to the gig and then threatens violence if he doesn't get his five thousand dollars for the show that he does do one song for from then on. It's strictly businesses. No nothing bed. And what can you do for another gig can introduce you to the famous singer who will absolutely knock your socks off strictly business. But there's another telling moment where rip torn discovers at one of the members of the band has been sleeping with his wife takes him out and basal shoots a glass of beer off his head just to scare him but better. I don't talk your head fixing the fam- trying to say. What am i. Nervous or uncontrolled think willie nelson to underestimated you dino. Oh you sound that just sort of. It's a lot of its business. But even he has his moments of pride even he has feelings. I this nothing complex in this film but as clauses areas to showing a three dimensional character debts his moment and i really really liked that moment in the film i ran to the store with a and when you were abundant and went.

"End up playing with a band named after they. You were crazy to sign a deal with anyone named rodeo rocky like some kind of ice cream amongst all the other films that you mentioned with kris kristofferson is one that i saw years ago that i really really loved this at john sales film lonestar. And yeah yeah yeah. He was a nasty piece of work in that film. Film me deal with treat williams too. There was a reporter cops in the eighties. I remember seeing that. And then he was in the sailor who fell from c. With grace the salad. Full from grace. With the i read that was a that was a japanese book to begin with and then watch the film. There's some characters if you've seen the film you know who talking about that. You just want her off a cliff then of course he was infamous. I mean the last time. I actually remember seeing on the big screen. Believe it or not wasn't blade. Oh of course. Yeah yeah he dies in the first one but comes back in the second one. Disney worked for leonard. Nimoy didn't it. well yeah they. Yeah asking our name on your song. Because i can't put my name on rodeo rocky would get all the money. Why did you ask me because you're songwriter. The answer girls never anything in her life. It's okay for people like that. Who can't right to say the wrote something they didn't right. They do that all the time. But you're songwriting. You can't say you wrote something that you didn't write unless you really really say the let's look into the film itself so i'm gathering from your initial comments team that you went that crazy about this role. Set the record straight. Okay when you're dealing with the film about music. I think the thing that you really have to hinge on our the performances and as much as these guys men are living legends. And they're born to be on the stage in this film. I think a lot of the performances really fall flat or they do seem really stilted her. They just seem like they're really kind of captured by somebody who really isn't familiar with capturing live music. It just seems really off to me. i don't know how to put it. I'm a critical person. When i watch things carefully but sometimes initially let a lot of things pass but when something just kind of rugged or wrong way the first time you watch it. Just kind of like some starring. Here i don't know what it is you know if it's just mere when you say the performances taming the musical performance. Yes yes yeah no. I understand that it's because you only literally gay couple of seconds of a song and then he'll kind of dissolve into another song right and yet you never get a grip on. I think interesting need that kind of consumer understand your point of view by dancing rudolph was.

"Hey did you do it. You're supposed to do today. How's it going. I think that's where you're gonna really fall in love. Yeah yeah. I think so. I mean i i still. I'm surprised that. I'm even in this position. Because i was such a gym rat and loved working out as much as i had time for. But i swear to you you guys. I'm not exaggerating. I'm so tired and that's my fail like we can. We can segue into win and fails my fail. Right now is that i have just been feeling. I'll drink coffee. I will do the things. I'm taking my vitamins. Doing you know. But i still feel like between work responsibilities in kids and then of course trying to work out when i can just. The nonstop factor of being a parent is exhausting. And there's no way around it. Like i i swear to you when i say like i do all the things you know. Drink the water. Do all the things. And i still feel like i'm sluggish at times and i i the how hard the days like when it's only nine or ten. Am when you know you've had a whole day already. Yeah and then you're you're thinking about the rest of it like oh shit right yeah. There's more than half to go ghost. That's an overwhelming feeling. For sure would gets me through those humps though is a few things feeling like. There's light at the end of the tunnel. And by that. I mean you know for us. This big house moving moving situation. You know like the fact that we are going to have so many changes coming our way and then setting little things in place like on august in august. We're going wine tasting And that's like a day for us and as overwhelming gordon wine tasting. What is it. we're going wine drinking. Gosh no i. it's just the is going to be no gets lost right. Yes we are Couple things you most likely will be new wing more drinking. We'll see how it goes okay. I'm just going to set the precedence. Now because i am exclusively breastfeeding and now we've introduced a bottle so she is taking a bottle once in a while which is great but i still need time to hopefully pump within this twenty four hour period that we're away and i'll probably end up dumping the milk but i still need to make time for it so that i keep my supply and so i can't be like so slash and i'm like all right. You know what i mean. I have responsibilities working at all. It's not that fun but you know why it's what i signed up to do what you can stop some fun fun. I am going to have fun. I just right now. I know the commitment that i have to feeding ivory. And that's what's most important. So i get it. I mean i'm saying like. I don't have any responsibility. I i get it. I just know that it's important once in a way to just incentives once in a way this episode can we just. Can't we just talk about the fact that it the fact that we are sitting here right now and we are talking face to face first of all. I feel like you're in a mood. Or maybe i'm in a mood. I don't know what's happening. There's something in the air where like we had to drag ourselves into the office. Which is our closet and get her done is it. What's what what is the underlying factor. Here you why. I don't know what is it about me. Tell me just you tell me though when is it. What is it about you my presence known not going to do this on the air for real i love you. Oh god standby for b. no there's no bs. I just don't know how to do this. It doesn't it doesn't matter what i say from this point on. Everyone is going to be like. He's an asshole. No i love you. I just think that sometimes you don't like me or sometimes you're unhappy. You know when i can't figure out why because you don't you. Don't tell me that much paul really hard to get things out. That's what you think is going on right now. Is that why you know no-fly miscommunication before we started the up. So then i was frustrated with miscommunication and then i think. Now you're just like you just like in your head shut up dude. I'll i don't know i'm not shut up. Dude okay. i'm not. I just i said this to the other day. It's when you preface things with like. I'm tired everything after that. Good or bad feels more overwhelming. Because they don't just bought into your tired. I yeah you know what i hate to say it but like there is what you say that you don't do that i know i'm trying to work through it. Okay first of all. This is partially careful. No it's tom's fault now. This is your fault emily's fault okay. We'll get their our neighbors. They asked us to have a drink last night. There also parents we went over. There ended up she is. She ended up staying until ten thirty and then came back. And then i went back to hang with tom in like twenty minutes later. It's twelve thirty. I'm like oh shit decided to wake up forty five this morning no way time. It wisely was early. So i couldn't sleep when i got in bed so i'm reading and it's it's like one o'clock ish when my eyes close and then five forty five. My my alarm goes off. Oh my gosh so there. You go what i was also going to say is i isn't here and so we are now spending money on coffee which we don't love doing but it's nice to support other companies around here. Which is you know helpful for them but for us. We don't have coffee like at our fingertips in our kitchen because our beans haven't writhed yet. They will be here today. I like we love going out for coffee. But now i look at it as a real treat. It doesn't make sense anyways like one day a week faren but we've been doing it for three days. Three days. four days started friday thing. Oh my god doesn't matter. That's several days to do the math. On how much was spent five bucks a coffee easy because not to mention the waste. You know what i mean. Noticing fills. we went to read window. We went to m. street fills is using compostable. Cups now an leads which is nice. They're only commercial grade. Compostable dude sustainability is frigging rabbit hole right but at least they're doing that Yeah i'm just noticing that that more of them are doing that and or like fully recyclable options. Which are good. It helps makes you feel a little better about drinking your coffee and five minutes and then tossing it out. I miss the days..

"Later this year and we've already seen pictures of a charred a blast toys in a venus horror from redone with the twenty fifth anniversary logo. And then they're all like gold sparklys all around all the way around it. So so there's another chart. They're just. They're just continuing to do this. Like pokemon knows that cobra's spend money if they put a charge of course collectors scalpers etc are like woah charred. It's going to be like a battle to whoever gets the first pack whether it be like an early release at a walmart and they send it off to. Psa to get it graded an under a day or they can do speaking the psa man. Psa's been crazy. They shut down almost all their services. Except they're like oltra high. End like mega express service and they just turned on line. They're two hundred dollar express service which is for cards declared with a declared value of twenty five hundred dollars. It's like the sports cards. Have taken over the ability to get stuff graded because there's just not pokemon cards in that value range that it's worth like saying. Hey i'm going to sell this this graded card but i'm willing to take a two hundred dollar chunk out of it just to get the thing graded it's like the the the amana those cards right now is so rare. "Don't know adam how how how is like be someone who's been a part of the khartoum unity forever understanding what it takes to pull cards and purchase cards to build decks and be competitive like how difficult has the last year been on the competitive player in terms of like acquiring cards for the deck for your deck like as it made it almost unattainable to do certain things so if we were that that's that's the tricky part is because covert hit and there were no tournaments leagues just started kicking back up like month and possibly last month but like we haven't had to have cards physically like i haven't battled anybody physically so i haven't had the urge to buy anything but the but that being said though the oddity of that is that the market is going nuts. The amount of transactions that are happening are nuts and they're not from the competitive the players because the competitive players didn't necessarily need the physical cards like you're saying right because we've been able to adjust and play on geo but it's like still needing the code cards still needing to be able to unlock packs to trade for the cards. You need for your right right right So that's been a little tough. I will say like chilling rain. Like i haven't. I did not buy a booster box. I didn't get one. I wasn't one of the lucky ones And i'm not going to pay over over Overlake the price. That i know it is you know like i should be paying more than one hundred bucks and i am then. I'm not buying it now now. You can't necessarily Target or walmart has ever carried booster boxes but like et bees. The glory of it is their retail. You paying ms rpm rare on you know. Even some of these specialty. Secondhand retailers are distributors. You're going to pay a premium. Yes and this like they have all these different elite trainer boxes. But they're are all seventy eighty one hundred dollars. I'm like that is a ridiculous. Every single pack they have. There is like eight or nine dollars. Heck no value deck. They have an entire shelf of just that intel on deck the like so many like they probably have like forty or fifty.

"And But fast forward to today. How is chilling green. Chilly rain is still on the shelves. Like i can still find it so you can go to a big loss styles on the shelves. I could still find it like at your target right now if you went through his cars there's probably a handful of packs some structure decks and the galeria rapid ash. Okay so are we out of the woods with this scarcity thing and do you think the fact that retailers like target but is it because they're limiting to to you know two items or whatever like is that why because of the retailer limits it has to be at least to a degree like walmart. I've gone into multiple walmarts. they're also doubt The only walmart that has anything is the one that keeps it all locked up and says one per day per person. I guess that's why they have it at the exactly but like that's the thing like they have tons of single packs because everybody's everything else. Yeah so it's like they're never gonna get rid of their single packs because people are buying one at a time. Yeah exactly yup which is fine which is fine. It is nice to go into that walmart and say i'm going to pick up a snack in get a pack of cards and it is nice to walk into target now and be like i mean. I don't know if i like. I even put. I even had two packs. And i was like do i even need these packs getting them 'cause they're there and why was saying getting them because it's it's limiting to and it's like if i don't buy two then. I'm not fulfilled vantage exactly. So it's like so. I went to like the the normal section. They normally are in the toy aisle. So i just put those there and i think for some reason i had to go there the next day because we're getting some gifts for wedding and it was like i walked in in those packs were gone. They weren't there so it was nice. It's like okay so some kid probably saw those. Hey pokemon cards. Because it's like as an adult. They have them all on the top shelf. And it's like how many kids supposed to get to those here all right. Well now. let's talk about the second hand market. I think that this is important and understanding like how the craze of the market has influenced like stupid prices like ridiculous prices on cards and how things are starting to taper in starting to settle but understanding how the second hand market is like crucial to the collecting aspect. And the the. I don't know the longevity of the collectability of these cards is based in value. Now that's a weird thing. Because there certain like creators and there are certain processes that we see online that exploit the fact that market value is important to the.

"We've got another email here. This was a short one. this is from liam says loved the show It helped my son. Who's five years old and i learned how to play the game. I'm looking forward to playing in local tournaments. Thanks so much for your thoughtful show and keep it up yesterday. What what a great positive email. Thank you leeann. Appreciate the support. Best of luck to you and your five year old son. Five years old man. That's that's a. That's a solid age to get get out of the competitive tip. That's great man. Listen if you can get them to sit through an entire game. That is like that's a win win. Yeah my son is like we play one game. It's like. I don't know if i could take them to tournament for best two out of three suisses. Okay it's quick and easy but Anything longer than that. It's like when's lunch. Play fortnite gonna squirrel sora at work though squirrel all right. We'll adam i've got a. I've got a good conversation here that i want to engage with and get your thoughts because i started putting some ideas together here and i think i've got. I've got some good topics. So i wanna talk about the state of the card market and kind of. I guess i'll start with the logan paul effect and everyone is talked about paul sprint of the press blah blah blah. It's it's so annoying to talk about it because you don't want that to be a reality. But unfortunately that's the reality. And the the fact that he ended up collaborating with leonhard it almost like added this credibility for some to logan paw and we all know that that kind of like created the spiral in the market. And you know he's buying these you know hundreds and two hundred thousand dollar boxes and this and that and then like on the wane mayweather fight. He's wearing the charter charter. Anesthetic like that whole thing. Influence the card market so much. That prices went crazy. Demand crazy scalpers went crazy. Had a you know a a front line front perspective. Heavy news covered thing and it blew everything up. Blew the top off of all the cards. And i wanted to talk about what this means. Specifically we could talk about the good and bad of logan paul and all that. But i don't wanna talk about barry. Now i'm just saying what the one it's like because of that. And what the impact that this had on retail availability retail availability and even specialty retailers like t. and comics and ultimately like marketplaces like tc g. player. Because this whole thing is like an umbrella that trickles down to all these areas. And i guess what was the turning point was it was vivid voltage right. Things became impossible possible. Yeah vivid sausage and it's still there vivid voltages still such a sought after set. Because of the hyper rare pika chew because the the value that it holds because of the amazing race. There's like there was just so much to pull from that set.

"Good to know that you're doing something to help. I was lucky enough to win one and wanted to be able to do something similar so me and my daughter gave out packs that we need to all the kids in the neighborhood today. It felt great. Love seeing the kids at so excited reminds me of when i was a kid but something i wanted to suggest for the show i loved when adam gave his tips on adjusting. The league battle dex to make them more competitive. I was wondering if he could do that. For the italian deck. I love that. I love the idea of it. But i'm not great at deck building. It and i don't have the expertise to make it fully competitive. Well sorry for the long email and grammar errors. Ah well keep it up. Guys stay safe. What agreed email. That is an awesome email. I'm glad that you did that with your daughter. that's awesome. Yeah that's that's like good good vibes all also also think. Think about it for like Halloween like instead of giving out candy. You can give out like pokemon cards of both. You know what i mean. People want candy. Then grab candy or both pack back cards and candy. It doesn't show anything rare you know. Comments and stuff is cool. Yeah but sean. I think in regards to the idea of taking that until the on deck and spicing it up adam. I think that could actually make a pretty cool segment for the show where we take off the shelf deck whether it's a theme dak or whatever and talk about how to use that as the foundation for a much better deck so then you buy that deck for thirteen bucks and then maybe you spend you know twenty thirty bucks just on a couple of cards to supplement that deck and all of a sudden. You have a competitive deck and you've spent less than fifty bucks. Yeah that would be really easy so all right so why don't we. Why don't we do that next week. And we'll talk about this you on deck. That sounds perfect sean. Great idea check back next week for the for the for the full for the full story on that i love that idea. I think that's that's good. Because i'm a huge theme deck fan so i always love the fact that they are upgradable because they would never come with the tax they would never come with the tag team they would you know just like the baby versions like the basic versions of the card so sure you could spice it up and just use those for other versions but you just don't see that off the shelf now with their standard format dax like they're they're league battle dex. That's it's the same thing like you know. You could even change those up. But i think from a female perspective. It's it's much more value oriented. So that's why. I really like that idea so good stuff and i do like that in telling already is like a level two because the index are level one in the in. The italian is a level two. So it's like this deck is competitive shelf but it can still be adjusted but like the level stuff doesn't that kind of refer to the level of complexity in the deck of like what you know. No it's yeah. I mean there's a lot there's a lot of stuff going on but the intel eons pretty pretty simple you know. Hey here's froth moth attachable do a bunch of damage. Nice nice..

And it's kinda got the stance like don't mess with me or my or my children raised in the sun and the sense setting behind it but the way that the light is is just radiating off of earthlings. Back is so cool is daunting. Yeah it's like the brightest is like rate under its legs and then it gets darker as it goes up like just the the scale of it going from so bright to you know. The darker sky is just flawless. And it's there's so much passion and anger in this in this one image. It's so good. Well it's funny because it has an attack called bad temper so that that's a the fits definitely and then the number one person doing that. I've never even seen until the r. n. g. hit is the seraing from sky ridge. It's the greatest is the same artist as less carpets. A hero arita. It is sitting in a hot tub a cigarette spring hot spring and it is literally just chilling out. It's got its feet setup. it's so relaxed and it's almost like it looks like it's whistling like does look like he's like whistling the bare necessities. That's great and it it just so relaxed. I've never seen this card. But this is so gorgeous gorgeous. No seriously this is. It's super stunning now. It is good. It is definitely good..

"And so there's cards featuring snow will. It's called chilling rains. It's it's kind of like an icy theme that the logo is like frozen so that makes sense right So cards featuring snow is like they have the article up and it's on pokemon dot com. But it's a score. Bunny and scarves got a big giant ball of snow that it's pushing Derailing is in a forest and it's snowing and blitz. sel is also just kind of like chilling out on an iceberg. This looks like it's like a snowball version of a dung beetle. Like just pushing giants though ball like they couldn't make it made kicking the snowball. I guess they could save that for the further evolutions but yeah but these are cute. Yeah it's really nice to to see like in under saas book actually has is kind of like it's evolved. It's in its snow form and our winter former should say it's the forest still it just kinda like in in a more of an open area but like groupies also in the snow and rocks in the snow. Rock rough is probably the cutest. Because it's like burrowing like a dog like that one in the i don't know the blitzer that like the blazel is is very cartoony so i kind of like muscled is concerning. Ok battisti standing out a little iceberg. Only the size of its footprints die. He's not going anywhere no he's he's going where the current exactly. Uh what's next. There's some that are. Let's say like thank you for your cooperation because it's pokomo working together so you've got a wheedle doing chin ups and then on the nets from branch a pie and it's looking down in this haircuts also doing sit ups yet on the ground. So they're like agony. Then when you've got obama snow and he's like throwing the fruit and sneeze like the fruit ninja and cutting all the fruit in half sneeze. We'll card yet. It's a sneeze. We'll card but still like it's just. It's absolutely hilarious. And then you've got a sabato and it's on a pa- simeon rapid strike but the persimmons chilling out like. Don't worry a little guy i got. I got your dog like holding his hand like it's okay. We'll make it through this. The next section is weird. Like the it says that's just gross and you'd you'd expect some kind of like nasty stuff. I don't necessarily consider this stuff too gross but see why they put it here. So there's a a gang are using lick and even though lakers like one of its moves on. The card is just like sticking out his tongue. So i guess that's gross. Then you have one of glaring wheezing just kind of polluting the air and is like three different types of like smoking smog clouds like so i guess that's gross and then in the one really gross one you've got glaring slow king who has the shelter shell on its head but.

And it's been fun so far. So i i just wanted to talk about some topics that i haven't heard talked about too much including like just where things are at and how you know the the bubble is impacted the way we get carts so looking forward to talking about it all right so jumping straight in We'll talk about the chilling rain performers. So shadow writer kelly racks and ice rider. Colorado are making a ton of waves in the competitive scene right now and shouted writers pretty much leading the way. This the v. necks v. maxes. Yes so the shadow writer v. Max has a whopping three hundred twenty hit points. It has an ability saying under underworld door Once during your turn you may attach a psychic energy card from your hand to one of your bench psychic pokemon if you attach an energy to a pokemon of this way. Draw two cards. That's absolutely insane. Yeah that's pretty stacked like okay. Let me attach it from my hand and draw two cards. Yeah it's brenner ju- celery android power. This sounds a lot like welder. Only i can do it every single day every turn as long as i haven't energy that's pretty broken. It is a v. Max it's weakness to darkness and resistance to fighting so it will lose against some darkness decks but Weakness isn't everything as we proved in the last episode Just putting in different pokemon that can utilize go against those is fine and they do a good job by putting galerias up dose into the deck where it only need energy to knock out a fully powered up eternit. This feedbacks and it's attack is for three cullis..

"88 7. This is all things considered from NPR news. I'm Ari Shapiro and I melt the chain from toilet paper to hand sanitizer to disinfecting wipes. The pandemic has exposed a number of supply chain problems and often left customers scrounging well. Restaurants across the country are now facing a new and uniquely American shortage. Catch up. You're really sweating over it. I mean, it's costing a lot. It's you know, a service issue. So for these restaurant owners, it is. It's not a laughing matter. Heather had uncovers restaurants for the Wall Street Journal, and she says the problem began at the start of the pandemic. Everyone was sheltering at home, and manufacturers really prioritize grocery customers, so everyone was, you know, eating their burgers and fries in home. Initially it was a boon for the industry. Retail catch up sales were 15% higher last year than in 2019. But now there's not enough supply for restaurants, especially as many are reopening. The manufacturers have to shift production back, and that is not something that can happen quickly or easily. A big part of the problem is the need for single use individually packaged ketchup, as opposed to big glass bottles on tables and the demand for those ketchup packets is a cost issue as well. Prices are up 13% for packets. I mean, that is actually pretty significant for all restaurants. Many restaurants are divvying up the catch up into single serving containers themselves. But without their usual suppliers. They have had to take matters into their own hands. Some general managers were having church you don't go out to Costco or other wholesalers just pull bottles off the shelf. One of the most challenging things finding alternatives to Hinds. Highs really is the favorite show. They have nearly 70% of the U. S retail market share for ketchup people Do you really love it? And Are pretty loyal to it. The company is trying to pay back that loyalty by opening up to manufacturing lines this month dedicated to catch up production of packets for food service. In the meantime, all of those Heinz ketchup lovers can draw inspiration from the company's iconic ad. Anyway, I think Rich Heinz get your taste.
