"We can access voting in our own states. And yet they're falling back on these procedural arguments. Um, as if people give a damn well, they don't They just want you to do the deck on legislation. This is not rocket science. It's common sense. Man with Republicans like Michael Steele, who needs Democrats. Um am I right, Am I right? Welcome back to the show everybody. Dana lash dot com lots of stuff to discuss today. And it's good to be with you all. Make sure you subscribe to chapter and verse, the newsletter Because we have some good stuff up there about the Sheldon White House thing. The whitewashing Sheldon White House whitewashing the White House. Whoa! Filibuster. The idea of filibuster reform. That's a that's a kittens and sunshine word filibuster reform is the same. It's in the same family that, um Assault weapon is Um, male feminist, you know things that don't exist. That's affordable care act right? So It's a it's a kittens and sunshine term. It's about completely destroying regular Senate procedure. It wants to make people Immediately endorsed something before they can even debate or discuss what it is right. I mean, it's it is, um and McConnell has warned people look You know, will will fight Scorch starts back if you want. You know, I'm your Huckleberry. People need to believe the man when he says this stuff. I don't know what in the world is wrong with some of you people, some of these driveways out there, But you all need to be believe in the man when he says this But This is This anti filibuster idea this this is why, by the way, Kristen Cinema Is trending because she has this piece. Over at unemployed. This and now she has a piece of the Washington Post, where she talks about how the filibuster must be protected. And I mean it. No, I mean, all of this is coming down to Joe Manchin and Kristen Cinema. And that's why they're getting more hate than the Okay, side. Mark. Who? For the love? I remember my parents watching the show My mom and my step Dad when I was younger night, court, John what's his face? The lawyer from night court. With the hair leg. Asano, no jump. Blur Kit. Oh, my gosh! John Lyric, yet he looks like a gray hair. John Larroquette. From like the night court days. He looks like this smarmy and I'm talking about Sheldon White House, the smarmy dude. But He's a member of an all white all White Beach club. And he even says, Well, you know, I hope that they change things, but not not. He's not just a member. He is the majority shareholder by the way. That's not a big deal. But oh my gosh, Kristen Cinema and Joe Mansion, stopping the Marxist onslaught within the Democrat Party by refusing to acquiesce to their demands to get rid of the filibuster. How dare thou? What gets me is that This Christian cinema and you mentioned their position is no different than what what Democrats had their position on the filibuster two years ago when they weren't in power, But suddenly when they When they were able to assume power and barely any, by the way they want to immediately get rid of the filibuster, and people need to realize it's not just Kristen Cinema and Joe Manchin that opposed ending the filibuster. There are other Democrats that also oppose it. It's just that they are fine right now. And I think that cinema and mansion who both come from kind of red areas, particularly mansion because Trump went, I think it was like 38 plus 38, West Virginia. It went for Trump not just in the last election in 2020, but it also went for Trump in double digits in 2016. So mansion is in a really safe spot by being in this position, and he has this relationship with West Virginia voters that is just I mean, that's why it's hard for Republicans to get in. He's like an old school. Zell Miller kind of Democrat. But He's like what Democrats used to kind of be. I don't agree with them on everything at all. But he's not unreasonable. So this sorry they there's no way they're going to be able to drum them out because voters The more that they the the more that the Marxist Democrat Party decides to push against cinema and mentioned that more that cinnamon mansion are going to dig in. I mean, none of these. None. Neither of these two care. And the voters are going to back up your They're just gonna They're just going to ensure that they get reelected. That's what's going to happen. But here's the thing. The argument about And I see some really stupid arguments out there. They keep people keep saying Oh, well, the filibuster. This is not something that is a constitutional allowance except That is not actually true the filibuster and this is something that the founders discussed. This. The filibuster is it plays a vital vital part in our democratic process in our republic. Um, there is, you know, Ideas of national Legislature, Parliament, etcetera. But this you Have. And this is a great piece that actually my friend Charles Cooke had written about the history of this with James Madison and enemy enumerated Powers doctrine, etcetera, But this is when you have a country that is so starkly. Divided as the United States is right now, anyway, there you have a practical challenge to overcome and constitutional order is there to make sure that there can be some kind of consensus? Not just between the different factions politically but geographically and religious and, you know, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, and that's where you have the filibuster within the Senate. It is allowed by the Constitution, which is completely different from saying that it is mandated by the Constitution. It is completely constitutionally allowed, and that is something that needs. This is why nuance is important. Because nuance prevents people from sounding like morons, and this has been used the filibuster so often. In fact, Democrats used the filibuster to set a record for 83 days straight when they were filibustering the Civil Rights Act. Uh huh. They love the filibuster. They really really like it, And they have used it to block true actual equality and not just the buzz word for it for many, many, many, many, many decades. So No, it is absolutely allowed by the Constitution. And when you are absent any sort of National consensus on an issue. This is where it comes into play, and it is allowed by the constitution because it was foreseen by the founders. So this idea that it is somehow unconstitutional or that it is anachronistic to this era is a completely uneducated, specious argument that should be disregarded as quickly as the character of the person making it. In the story. So this is and Democrats know this. They know this. I mean, they they did they have Democrats filibustered every single damn thing they could during the Trump era. Every single thing they could they filibustered. Whenever they are the party who is not in power. Democrats love the filibuster. They are best friends with the filibuster Democrats in the filibuster, they go to Sears, and they get portraits together in front of a beautiful falls in yet which they then in turn, stick with a magnet on the front of their refrigerator. They love The filibuster so much..

President Joe Biden slammed President Donald Trump and Republicans while he was on foreign soil. So much for the leader of the free world, huh? It is a shocking surprise that what's happened in terms of the consequence of President Trump's phony populism has has happened. His fawning leftist media didn't call him out over this, but they did when Trump did the same thing two years ago and foxes Jesse Water says no matter what happens in tomorrow's summit with Vladimir Putin They will call Joe the winner. I don't think he's going to do well one on one with Vladimir Putin. He's going to probably do a lot of listening, and he's probably going to be reading off a lot of script. Then they're going to release a readout and said, No, we challenged him here. They disagreed here and then the media is going to make him out to be Rambo. Yeah. Biden made the press. Wait three hours. He was three hours late for a news conference that was scheduled. The conference lasted 25 minutes because Biden had a brain Vaid in the middle of a question about do you think Putin is a killer? Hello. The governor announced the state will build a border wall, and he says he will detail those plans later this week. So he's building the wall he's visited. He has visited the border repeatedly. "Yeah, I think the message for the coaches and the players they come up with. They deliver that message to themselves. Essentially that It's gonna be tough. It's just gonna be harder to win a championship. We're still gonna win a championship. I think that our players truly believe that in our heart of hearts, and you know they're trying to achieve that goal, every playoff Ganic life, So I mean the first First up is trying to find a way to get this serious out. When it then do, you know? Go going if we are lucky enough to do that get ready for the next years. Why do you still believe even without Jamal of this team could win an NBA championship this year. Yeah, you little to experience we have been through these battles. Ma. You know, you always look at things from Will always look at things from our perspective. But sometimes you gotta like, try to put your Something their opponents shoes and like It can't be fun for any team that you have to try to face the M V p of the league or potential EVP of the league so many times you haven't m p m v P type candidate. You should probably feel like you have a chance to win every game you competed. So that helps a lot. Then we have God. All of our gods. We have a bunch of guys are used to winning that, like the wind or willing to sacrifice to win games and even a god that haven't even played the lead before, like composite. Playful. Real Madrid. Real Madrid ist Is the has the best reputation in Europe in the Euro League and a CBS Well, losing is unacceptable. So he's one of he's one of a million game's over last decade, and he's been in Such pressurized situations that the other MBA is the best thing in the world. It's a little bit harder, but You still have the same expectations? How does Jamal still help this team even though he's on the sidelines currently That's fascinating. I mean, even when he's playing Nicola's is, uh, you know, our undisputed leader of our team, the best player, but Way private. The Jamal's energy is presence on the court. You know, just this personality like It probably even overshadows the cola zone to be frank, like, so I think you still bring us some of that when you know he saw in the first couple of games, almost being up next to coach Malone and coaching the game and You know, almost down to Portland best just bringing out energy to the that he provides on the court. He's trying toe bring it from the sideline as much possibly care, talking to the general manager, the Denver Nuggets in Calvin Booth. Have you seen the improvement this year? Michael Porter Jr because I like to come out of college. The question was, Was he going to be able to stay healthy? He's a really special young player. Yeah. I mean, Michael just keeps on. Taking up space and whatever comes out of hay has to play a more important role for our team now. And he's even more the focal point of every scout report. You know, people started last year in the Utah seriously trying to tar the Carl, get him on the defensive end of the floor. My thinking has grown leaps abounds and smaller areas of the game. And I think you know, at some point in time, people will look at Michael Porter Jr as a good defender, maybe even great one and he's worked his way there. So I think this is ability that continually produce Being the focal point and everybody in the world knows that. He's like. We're the best three point shooters on the court and in the league and they trying to take that shot away. And he still he still shooting a high cliff, and he Those 345 from three last night. He still found a way to get make three of them, So I think it's really super impressive powers doing that. I love what you guys did the deadline to acquiring Iran. Gordon, can you take us behind the scenes how that trade came to fruition? Yeah. I mean, it goes back to the summertime when we lost your me. Grant, who was very impactful making our Western Conference finals run last year made the decision to go to Detroit. And you know, um, so we were basically had a hole. On the wing position that we need to sell and around the trade deadline. We weigh identified Aaron. Somebody competition show that hole and, um, we're able to find get the deal done. And we've been absolutely thrilled with what there is brought to the table is a consummate professional. He's unselfish. She sacrificed for a team and his defense is, uh Is even better than we thought. It would be mean his ability to guard one through five and I'll play position Defensive about Sally is elite. Do you expect that in Portland here in game number four. You guys lost the first one. Then you take the last two. What kind of effort? Do you think we'll see in Portland coming up tomorrow night? Yeah, it's gonna be. It's gonna be a lot of lot of vigor coming our way. Man is gonna they're gonna come out and they're gonna try to deliver another haymaker, but they're trying to do at the beginning of yesterday's game. Veteran group of Gods that have a killer instinct and I think that they know what the stakes are tomorrow and, you know, I think we'll be ready to meet the challenge, but it's gonna be It's gonna be a very, very competitive game, and we're going out to make a lot of lot of plays to pull it out Calvin Booth. It's been excellent to see the fans back. Unfortunately, though, It has been overshadowed by what did occur in New York and also Philadelphia. What can the league dude to better protect the players? You being a former player now being in a management role with the Denver Nuggets? There's such a hard thing to get your hands around because it's a We're in the entertainment business. It's for the fans. And you know you want the fans the building enjoy themselves. And you know you don't want to have too many. Um, precautionary rules or do too many things that they're like a lot. Don't allow them to enjoy the game. So Basically punishing the gods as it does, and continued the continued to send the message that we won't tolerate. Any kind of disrespect of our players or physical, huh? We will laugh, physical harm to be brought to our players on bits. If anybody Anybody wishes to do that? They wanna be bear from arenas, and they're gonna have to potentially face criminal charges. No. I've been asking a lot about your team. I want to ask you a personal question, though You were named the general manager in July of 2020. And I know you've been in the organization for you know, for a while. How do you kind of put in perspective coming up on a year in about a month of what this last year has been like Miss Mina has been a world would 83 days in the bubbles, Um, pretty much getting right back into the season. You know, it's been a lot of adversity for every team in the league. I haven't really been able to reflect on being named a general manager. But No, it's always. Ah, You know, it's always a big big achievement to be in this position and I'm going to be able to be called one of 30 general managers in the league. You know, it's a responsibility that don't take lightly. And you know, I just from the beginning when I started working the front office, I just wanted to work with a good group of guys. And be able to enjoy my job, and I'm still able to do that with this crew, but Tim Connolly being my boss. How do you guys kind of be there for the players? I know that everyone focuses on the results on the court, but then off the court with the mental health component of it, with just all the chaos in the world, really, and everyone's life has been flipped upside down the last year. Yeah, I mean, Or organizations trying to put a lot of effort into providing resourceful players. The MBA is really into it, too. The unsung heroes of every team, often towns or the Player development directors off the court director of player programs every dealer director of player services and are instances is Amy O'Brien..

"Instead. Right now we're joined by the head basketball coach of the Denver Nuggets, sixth season as Nuggets head coach Western Conference coach of the month for April, let Dan wrote to the conference finals for the first time in more than a decade. Denver in second place in the northwest, there at Minnesota, tomorrow, eight P.m. Eastern. I consider him a good friend of the program. He is Michael Malone. Michael. It's so good to have you back. How are you? I'm doing great, Jim. And as always appreciate you having me on. I really appreciate you making time for it has always Michael. So you're coming off a win at Charlotte last night. That meant that you were the only team in the Western Conference have home court in the first round for each of the past three years, knowing how rugged the West has been, What's it say about the team and the culture that you've built there? Yeah, It's funny. We were walking off the court last night and Tim Conley, our team president. He grabbed me gave me a hug. And he gave me that news, which I had no idea. And I think it speaks to the resiliency of our team. Obviously, I've been here for six years T have home court advantage. Three years in a row. How we built this gym organically from within. We've drafted we've built guys guys have gotten better. Um it says a lot about the coaches I have on my staff, The players not locked room and just a very Helpless and result resilient culture that we've been able to create here, and I couldn't be more proud to be part of such a great organization, Michael Malone and joining us, You know Michael in terms of that selfless culture that you developed there as an example, Austin Rivers, who recently joined the team, said quote. I've never experienced a team or organization like this. It's so about we and not me and quote I mean, that's something really difficult to create and sustain in the MBA. So exactly how have you gone about doing that? Yeah, well, it's been great to have guys like Austin Rivers who were sitting at home. Come help us out, and obviously in light of injuries to Jamal Murray Toe, Will Barton to Monte Morrison made his return last night. Austin's been a great pickup and has really helped us. With his play. But regarding that type of culture, you Lou to Jim. Obviously, it's something that When I got the job six years ago, when Tim Colin and Josh Karki hardly it was something that I felt was really important to create on that and season one was the most important thing for me wasn't wins and losses. It was Resetting the organization and creating a culture that we could drive in for years. And what I have to follow that up with his bring your best player when the league MVP in my humble opinion, the call Yokich embodies, truly being selfless every single day. Well, that makes it that much easier when you're young players, the guys that you bring in The best player on your team working that hard. Having no ego, not wanting any extra credit. That allows it by us to fall in line, So I have a great luxury and coaching, not only a great player, but a player who reminds me of a Tim Duncan where he's a great player but is almost embarrassed by the accolades does not want it to be about him. Wants to be about the team. And that's what the true greatness of Nicola is not just be on the court that everybody sees. But also he does off the court. In terms of helping that culture every single day. Michael Malone is head coach of the Nuggets. I love the analogy and the comparison and Tim Duncan the thing is, like he checks his ego, Nicola. He checks his ego at the door and his one any credit for anything at all. About what you know, you know, he wants to be out there every single night badly. The same time this season. It's such a grind. So how do you go about balancing that in approaching the rest of the regular season is the priority winning, or is it to get some rest and recovery? Yes, And that is a Nicole and I have a tremendous relationship. Yes, as a coach and player, but I spent so much time with Nicola off the floor. You know, I've gone to Serbia Bunch of time to spend time with he and his family. We also have the It's almost like a friend relationship, and we've been having lots of conversations. Jim about You've played in all 69 of our games on. I think that availability that durability is remarkable in today's day and age, especially when you consider Jim We were in the bubble for 83 days, we had a shortened all season, really the shortest training camp in NBA history. And he still came out and played every single night. And now that we have home court advantage wrapped up these last three games on I say this, you always playing to win, so no matter who plays for us, we'll be playing to win. But you also have to have that conversation about rest and being healthy, Um, start of Game one and round one on the following weekend, so Um, He takes tremendous amount of pride in being available every single night and having that toughness and durability to do so, But I think you also understand. The importance of being completely healthy, both mentally and physically as we start the postseason, so we looked at these last three games to get some guys Maybe having played a lot of minutes, get them an opportunity to play. Try a few things out, but also try to get some remain guys from rest a zoo much as we can I get that Michael Malone's joining us. You talked about what Nicola means to the organization, the team and to personally and then also, Michael, you mentioned Jamal Murray. I know on a personal level again. I know what he means to you. And I know that you know that injuries are part of the game. But what was it like for you to see him go down. It was It was really a kick in the gut, You know, a gut punch. And you know, I love all of our players, you know, and Jamal's another guy. We've been together for the colon. I've been together for six years. He came in when I came in. We drafted Jamal Murray after my first year, and Jamal and I have a terrific relationship. Just like I alluded to with Nicola on it. Almost. I brought me to tears being with them after the game as the Golden State team doctors were talking to him. And you know you all sudden you go to a really dark place..

Obviously, it's something that When I got the job six years ago, when Tim Colin and Josh Kroenke hard me it was something that I felt was really important to create on that and season one was the most important thing for me wasn't wins and losses. It was Resetting the organization and creating a culture that we could thrive in for years. And what I have to follow that up with is bring your best player when the league MVP in my humble opinion, the call Yokich embodies truly being selfless every single day. Well, that makes it that much easier when you're young players, the guys that you bring in The best player on your team, working that hard having no ego, not wanting any extra credit. That allows it by us to fall in line, So I have a great luxury and tortured, not only a great player, but a player who reminds me of a Tim Duncan where he's a great player but is almost embarrassed by the accolades does not want it to be about him. Wants to be about the team. And that's what the true greatness of Nicola is not just the on the court that everybody sees. But also he does off the court. In terms of helping that culture every single day. Michael Malone is take coaching the Nuggets. I love the analogy and the comparison and Tim Duncan the thing is, like he checks his ego, Nicola. He checks his ego at the door and his one any credit for anything at all. About what you know, you know, he wants to be out there every single night badly. At the same time this season. We also have the almost like a friend relationship, and we've been having lots of conversations. Jim about You've played in all 69 of our games on. I think that availability that durability is remarkable in today's day and age, especially when you consider Jim We were in the bubble for 83 days, we had a shortened all season, really the shortest training camp in NBA history. And he still came out and played every single night. And now that we have home court advantage wrapped up these last three games on I say this, you're always playing to win. So no matter who plays for us, we'll be playing to win. But you also have to have that conversation about rest and being healthy, Um, start of Game one and round one on the following weekend. So, um, he takes tremendous amount of pride. Being available every single night and having that toughness and durability to do so, But I think you also understand. The importance of being completely healthy, both mentally and physically as we start the postseason, so we looked at these last three games to get from guys. Maybe having played a lot of minutes. Get them an opportunity to play. Try if you things out, but also try to get some remain guys from rest a zoo much as we can I get that Michael Malone's joining us. You talked about what Nicola means to the organization, the team and to personally and then also, Michael, you mentioned Jamal Murray. I know on a personal level again. I know what he means to you. And I know that you know that injuries are part of the game. But what was it like for you to see him go down. It was Was really a kick in the gut. You know, my gut punch and, you know, I love all of our players, you know, and Jamal's another guy. We've been together for the colon. I've been together for six years. He came in when I came in. We drafted Jamal Murray after my first year and Jamal and I have a terrific relationship, just like I alluded to. With Nicola on it Almost. I brought me to tears being with them after the game as the Golden State team doctors were talking to him. And you know you all sudden you go to a really dark place..

"Here's the good news. We don't have to accept the failed government. Of Donald Trump and Mike Pence. In just 83 days. We have a chance to choose a better future. For our country. So, Joe Dr Biden. Thank you for the trust you've placed in me. Still I know you will be an incredible first lady. And my husband, Doug, and I are so grateful. Grateful to become a part of your extended family. And ever since I received Joe's call. I've been thinking yes, about the first Biden that I really came to know. And that, of course, is Joe's beloved son, one of his beloved son's Bo. In the midst of the great recession. Bo and I spoke on the phone practically every day, sometimes multiple times a day. Working together to win back billions of dollars for homeowners from the big banks of the nation that were far closing on people's homes. And let me just tell you about Beau Biden. I learned quickly that Bo was the kind of guy who inspired people to be a better version of themselves. He really was the best of us. And when I would ask him, Where'd you get that? Where this come from? He'd always talk about..
