"Performance. You disagree with that. Cool up where you say whereas hair does many says what the that's the misconception of weight loss. Again the most weight the most weight loss doesn't mean the best preparation or performance so meaning that too much. It doesn't mean you're going. And that's what i'm saying. I agree with you. So when i when i thought i was at my best because i went i ran my most smiles. I lost my mojo sway was away but we we realize as team like that wasn't a good wait for me. I'm giving too much weight. You know luckily the power was still there. And i got the knockdown if not it would have been even worse by know what i mean. It would have been a robbery or i would have lost. You know so yeah. I can't beat su seventeen no more but yeah midi over here making it tough on me to show me while i reached out a week ago trying to get some help i mean i need to give him information though. I i gotta find one of those machines to give me my be a meyer mas- index whatever. He wanted those machines if not. I'm going to order the fifty dollar scale because dumi got one that does it via scale. Does he do be yes. And then i could give that two million and and Get a better calorie intake. I feel like sometimes. I might be under eating because i work out so much. Yeah but anyone who need to because that'd be dealing with that same problem but it's got a few always gonna run through real quick. This is not supercharged. But i'm big. Nick says i saw nestle most recent footage on the heavy bag and he clearly been watching old. Aj footage hellish short shots on that bag. And anything. I was just very tired. It was the end. It was the end and Like i said. I'm a numbers guy. I gotta get my my numbers man. So you know gotta jump on bad love it. They want bishop bad guys bag. Your bag is like eight. Hunter is a huge like six seven foot bag. It's crazy and it is in absorbs yours. Feels like it's draining. You like you just punch it and it just like As sucks the life out and bonnie wants super mags man. Bishop bishop bishop wants koala. But we haven't gotten any footage from kuwah supermax tiago. He was think he'll come back to border wars ten for kowa and he'll fight koala at cruiserweight he'll fight kuwa- kruse way. I wonder how bishop at forty six would look losing fifteen pounds and he. He probably you know we didn't see any like you know. I mean those skins. We don't know like You probably can make it though. No i mean. Obviously he's not going to ask for the fight if he can't make them manage very serious responsible he definitely is. Let me get back to the kept a may in. "Your avatar here. see how big you is in the savage. A yes are catholic. That is the guy that knocked out. Supermax do you believe that the best version of you was against gusts because media does now see. that's the best version youth c. see an and and and That was just the first time me coming into my own. Feeling a little confident Less i guess anxious you know but the training camp i wouldn't say was as good as the eddie training camp or as good as the high. He'll training camp. You not even as good as the that training camp but it just. That's what i'm saying. It takes all those fights. I feel like if for me anxiety was you know Not losing all your stamina one minute or a one round. Because you're you're in a fight. You i think that takes time You know like my. That's like my main question. You'll how you build stamina. How do you like do so many rounds in just like oh you just gotta get comfortable. Just got a spa. You just got us. And that's what i think. It is just like after a certain amount arounds rounds it just probably goes away or you start to learn how to deal with it you know. He also said he don't think you've prepared your best for a bullet or glasser. That's coach midi. That's not true. That's not true You know so. It gives us so again Football other grasser. I was under two forty five in for gusts to forty five. I was big for to forty. I was big for us fight You can see it in my stomach to which is crazy because again i did work. I don't under- word. But i'm telling you that because i know my numbers. The la fi was my best. Because i lost and that's my best in terms of weight loss after that fight. I decided i don't want to lose that much weight. Because i was a big dude. Having to wrestle with bigger do right so for the gusts fight. We went to two forty five and it was effective. Obviously the punch power was stronger. But i'd in look good so for the edify dropped a little bit more. I love it. I love it Esteban says a yo nasr. Gto tell rob lecco today. I'm gonna a though. I need this. I gotta do take you chat. I sent them your foot. Is i gotta do. He'd take you. this is how we do it. Man eddie be midwest sports talk says i'm six two to ninety five right now. Yeah yeah he said he's gonna he's gonna come in he's just working and he don't wanna get cova. I hear a man coachman nets against gus. You were ready to go for three rounds against any. You looked good for one round. But against gus you were good and comfortable. All the negative game plan many. See us again. I give a eventually got a retired. Because i'm teaching you give up the juice. I'm teaching people how to how how did how i do it. And hopefully you know it helps you but francis you know outside looking in mid he can say that so do we look at fights and fighters and and we have our opinion but the truth be told first round. I think school like two or three knockdowns bro. The took the second round off a completely off completely all know if we really watch it. That's not true. The first minute around. I one and then he threw shots which i blocked charlestown watching charter dervish. Tanko i'm looking like giancarlo catching oh. My coach liked to call. Buttons catching them sits. You know what i'm saying. And they somehow gave that round so but again second round. I took off their around again. Put the pressure. Got another knockdown like legitimately in the second round actually win. The ref looks at my corner. The rounded they gave. Eddie is the that the ref is like. Should i stop it but actually my own corner because in my corner happens to be the only legit ref believe me. My fights always get some bullshit. If that would have been steve willis. It would have been over. Even eddie even said it in his post fight. I thought it was going to stop it. I was done in that second round but somehow the haters and this is what i tell you you gotta live through. Mammoth lakes. You down around you down around like around where i got knocked down into the ropes. Should we stop it. I lost on everybody so be careful what you get into be says. Non ness got nasty jab. A just like fuck you wooded brooke and that's another thing is crazy midi i mean thank you anyway right like fuck it but i felt so much better in eddie fight because i copied the fury jab and the fame and it works man. It was it was on. Like i set him up with that thing in that job so much that it will in like i'll tell dudes again given at info but i always tell you i like. Oh don't just try to fight like try to think of someone right so i'm like okay. Mayweather stabs at boom from in to stomach with the jet. Hit him to the stomach. That the jazz then. Eventually i think the jet to the stomach turn into a hook dropoff score knock down with a left hook like hell no. I think the last fight was my better five. Plus he was more experienced yes. He was smaller but he was more yet. Five legit amateur fights understands boxing. You can see his last fight. More phone defensively. He's just better moves better. Yeah definitely you know with us. It was another wildfire. He was just a bigger dude and strong but he technically he wasn't.

"For me. They were both the same. Okay honestly honestly they were both the same. And this is again francis. I was the guinea pig. They were both the same. Because based off the footage you know hi-sci you'll look bad as he was what the footage didn't show is of dog. He was you know. Say but the footage showed that. He's like the he fight like a girl. So it's like okay. Mini you weiland. Either one of these like this dude is a big name. More people he actually. I think he was winning the pole or when or slightly missed poet and and other do one. But that's what i did though they call me to cherry picker. I'm the first and only due to fight somebody off the poco. Nobody nobody says who you want me to fight. Because that's the most dangerous thing is fighting the unknown on. No hell you let me ask you some man. Let me ask you something going from supermax to to morocco. Joe for smoke amount jay. That's a that's that's a big difference in styling pressures and you know it's funny you and do me feel the same. I think i'm jay. You'll be fine. But i'm saying it's an adjustment. It's gonna be an adjustment. Meralco probably his going to be mad. But i feel like until morocco. Joe shows me. He's gone punch. He's just he's just going to be a lineman and you ain't gonna win punch. I mean you ain't gonna wind punch you ain't gonna win points you ain't gonna win points shoving you know you just say no one's gonna give you points for seven you've got to at some point you have to throw a punch and connect- and you know that's the problem with it well. He said that he's getting. He's working so. I guess you gotta show it right. Necessary give says teddy be. Meanwhile you ain't fought yet k. You ain't for either. I you look for either you know. Hey y'all so so so. I guess age as a cherry picker to 'cause i told his Andy it's okay for is okay for age to fight a show. Do not now. I'm saying joe which is funny because you see. Look they ain't calling smoke them jay right right right but i learned that from floyd like they always going to build up the next you know yesterday. It was zack. You don't even know it was zack. You canadian brethren. Oh you'll never beat him. He's twenty six years old. Look at the muscles that was showing clips of him beating the bag. And it's like both you know what i'm saying i'm all somehow the underdog to win and still that cherry-pick meanwhile over six feet. I only one do five. Eight or j hold. I spoke about g with is he says smoke coach media says against media and coach media says smoking j. You think you ready for this. Don't estimate ness he's very well against gusts. Teddy says i'm fighting at the end of twenty twenty one not trying to catch kovin smoke. Mout j. three fifty. Oh absolutely fighting. He's find smoking j. against that so he china get. Let me see. I i got. I'm have to zoom into.

"Them on. I g. man do also bulletproof man. I do you so do your spine be that crazy or what. Yeah yeah guys. Are math li do. It ain't no so far you know. I posted a picture that they would. Bag 'cause my noses bell pepper right now this so they can't even act up y'all as difficult for me. I guess it's different for me. Because i'm big so i never really. Yeah yeah. I never really always always get heavy weight spawn. I might get a cruise away. I might get a big sixty. I get a very experienced. Seventy five pro. You know so. Maybe it's different for me and they don't come at me like that because i'm a heavy man that's crazy. I can't see myself having that type of dog dog as your question. Is that the reason why when you fought that dude. It was a surprise with the pressure. He brought the head the whole face. I'm asking not to know the difference with him was he was nontraditional. That was the issue. And that's what i keep telling people. I don't even keep that. I don't even keep that a secret life. Don't think you had a gym. And teaching you the foundation and the technical skills of boxing and you get an sparring with dudes that are pros or amateur. That you're gonna be any more ready than someone. That is not and the reason that i say that is because if you get an awkward style that is non traditional dude. That doesn't throw one tools. He's not a one-two-three. Bring the hands back up. you know. He's not a patient guy he's just this like how could you prepare for the wild man when all you've been preparing for is sweet pea you've been you've been that you've been training with dudes that are you know amateurs six nine and opposes like they not they giving you body size to the to deliver properly. They're not you know giving you open punches. Like fury did like you. You know you're not getting hammerfest gonna get hammerfest in boorda was Is is is different but after that i definitely implemented the awkward sparring like i specifically not only do me. Who's more of my hands on coach but the the gym owner is like. Oh it can only be this because look at what happened. I wasn't ready for that. And that's what i tell people to like Yo i told marvin nece. I said mauve and youtube confident people people look at my ma ma ceo fight and is still joked. That was the learning point. Ima- box in life right. It's like marvin. You confident you could be. I was the most prepared i ever been. I was su seventeen dude. I was went from two seventy eight. Two to seventeen is all mental. I was running the mouth. Like i was a fight. I was living that life. I was doing twenty-five pull-ups in a clip. I could do fucking ten twelve with a forty pound vest. I was living that light. This is all i wanted. And i had no fear. I touched his stomach and laughed. That's how confident grad look at elegant. What i say. Because i was getting sbarro. Today's green. I was spun hockey team. Nurse i was fucking getting leads from the olympian. The beat jose ramirez committee them. You know what i'm saying. I was getting kendall. Hope was telling me what to do. I was spawned a six four dude the minute i walked in gym i was a six four with sixteen. Amateur fights really really. The he had no fear. I was scared to spar monte barrett the professional and he jumps in with monte barrett on the regular understand so. When i got to that fight. I thought i was invincible. And it was like nah. You a never seen this you ready for this. Let's play football and wrestling and boxing all in one and that's what happened. Marvin not derail was awkward. But that he thought i've trained. I've done it all. I turned every stone over. But it don't matter because it's a fight man is a fight and you've got to expect the unexpected and that's what i've learnt from that man and i just i always tell my story and i hope people don't think that i'm saying it. You know to brush off what happened. No i'm telling us so that you so don't happen to you because you're gonna get that with oscar style. It's the mexican style though it's the mexican style. Nothing is it. nothing is like the mexican style. Nothing is in. That's why i ain't gonna front. I respect mission impossible. I counted him out. Maybe i don't know if i picked them or not but i feared the shots and what he coulda done because of the way that he he was showing his overhand right and sparring. Awkwardness was coming over the top on that mcdonald's semi dan you know but he didn't he didn't go no charts. Turn around and be the new chris vega meaning he lost and he. He's kicking himself like you. I ain't supposed to lose. Just like sean. Damn i lost. I gotta win. And they come back and they get that win but but but touch listen would a tank. He won't be a problem for somebody. He gave me a super duper problem. But that nice against a y'all listen you got to be midi. Midi.

Like i'm losing the lowest anyway. Since i started tracking the least amount of calories burned it was like non hundred like. I'm losing thousands of calories per day so there's no way i'm losing weight so again is about numbers men. If you fall in love with the numbers you're gonna fall in love with your progress and you won't stop because every day you're gonna want more. That's how i was when i used to wait live. That's how i was like man. I did two seventy five last week. I have to be doing more this week. 'cause all last week we did two seventy five so to your choice. Tilleke and statement with a super super chat that says ninety percent mental and physical. I never cheat my mental. There are no such things as cheap meals. You have to learn to quit completely before you. Moderate i mean but you are are the same. Right like my. My failure story with quinton is cigarettes. You know the first time. I tried to quit it. Got me had me browser chug java and i see my big ass fucking fifty three foot trailer with with the cab parking anywhere stopping at big shit anyway. I seen a gas station running and get them damn cigarettes. You know so when. I quit my i. I'm courtney cigarettes and a handicapped assorted smoking. Blacks like to we my fucking. I ain't gonna smoke this. 'cause i'm only smoke this because you know take a lot longer to champa black so i you eventually don't wanna smoke after all the bullshit. You gotta go through the city chapel. Black hellier forget that exactly exactly so that didn't happen though eventually the frustration of it taken so long making a mess in my truck. Fuck that bought a pack of cigarettes. Then i found myself like talking to myself. Like damn you really loss to this box of cigarettes like this shit. Beat you and that was it. It was like boom never never smoked up. Yup because i didn't want to be the guy that lost to some cigarettes you know what i mean. You don't control me but not everybody. Has that mentality like that's what trump is talking about. Like nah fuck. This is bad for me. I'm just not doing it. And everybody can't do shit they just can't they just can't they can't turn it off at ain't that easy cravings or motherfucker for some people But that's why the like nuts whole turkey to smoke cigarettes cold turkey. He stopped cold turkey. Seo is my last one boop that was it ever look back man. I did it twice. Twice stopped for two years. And then i went to go work at the airport in every single person that damn airport smoke cigarettes broken so you wait you. Don't listen listen. It was just not gonna no listen. Listen what happened is what happened. Is i like to smoke marijuana clean. People like to put agree. You make as how so. That's how it started so when you with other people now and they're putting it in that tobacco star to the facts. You should as that is addictive for sure. Tobacco is no joke. Yeah i hate that shit about jamaicans. Many always rolling with tabatabai. Your children do that shit by do not roll. I forgot with my gut john. I'm john what used to happen. I used to say. I prefer to smoke my weed clean and smoke a cigarette. Just don't mix the two so that's how it started to smoke and smoke a cigarette. That was the best a front man when i used to smoke cigarettes like like right now. I'm hard right. If i light a cigarette right now to the moon it is like a fucking rocky like it just takes. Your heart to another level is bananas. The combination bre don't prefer it together like jamaicans but if you chase the we with a cigarette no i hear you man. That shit is crazy you. I don't know how to that. Combination has bananas but Yeah menace is is always better if you could just re relieve yourself for the tobacco because that's really was was killing your lungs. You know what i'm saying. That's was was was ruining you because akhavan miles. You know what i'm saying like again it's like he said and i believe that so much i don't know if that's proven but the whole adenoid the percentiles. I know he said ninety ten. I'm just saying it's more mental than physical is what you tell yourself. You wanna doing what you're gonna do and then you'll get it done. You know i. I know that to the naked eye. It's physical and it's like no. Well he's big and you know he can't run like you when he can't but that's that's a lie though you know i gotta i gotta walk but instead i'm like you know what i'm gonna do it later and latest never happens later never happens. Do that right now. You know what i'm saying. is that type of mental. Like you got to be mentally. They're like you actually wanna achieve. Would you trying to achieve. This is definitely paces right like you can walk in. Lose the weight man. I i fall in love with those weight loss stories so i've seen peoples journeys like google to like diets. I've seen there's this thing. Called the potato divert nine never potato die tonight that just eat potatoes three times a day white potatoes too because people like to say the red potatoes a better my my man loss. "That fighter like looking. Marvin marvin looks completely different from when he started. Man is a fighter right now. You know what i'm saying and before that that Before that is just. He wasn't a fighter he was just saying saying. This is doing just you trial trial once you get that engine reverend men and go into you realize like oh. It's just like a machine and it just keeps going and going like you feel better about yourself. The workouts saying you get up for them a little bit more because your body is like okay. This will we go and do you know what i'm saying this doing. I'm feeling pains. I've never felt my life keeping hunt with you. But i know it's part of the whole you know what i'm saying. The whole the whole process motivation is something that got to come from within. And it can't come from without because you can have other people push you in an project but you gotta wanna for yourself as much as the other person wants four years very important very important that you look at yourself from one and and like you said not. Everybody's built the same way. Let me so. You can't put everything on the same level as everybody else. And i was in a little bit about. I wish we was all the same. And i wish it was just like you know like Tapping in right tapping connect my usb to francis. Open up the laptop and let me. Just tweak them up. let me tune him. Let me turn them like a tuna does an import car. And it's like fucking francis you need a little more boost. Let me raise the boost to to to to to you know what i'm saying. Let let me play with the admissions here. So that the fucking inject spit in the right amount of gas. 'cause i need you have gas so you could be on. Go and listen. I'll tell you if you fall in love with the numbers you're gonna lose the weight because every day you can lose weight if you do map my fitness and you put your goal it will give you the amount of calories. Your body is supposed to eat per day and it will guarantee you that you will lose that pound that they say per day. Now it's difficult to look at a scale every day but if you look at it once a week that graph is going to go down. I've used all those apps. Man matt my fitness by far the best at to try to the two things one yesterday again wife got mad at me. 'cause out of busy day she then you know what i'm saying. It's time to have dinner but dinner included deliberate cream as possible a little bit of cream and stuff and i was like no. I don't want it. i'm go to bed hungry. Drink some water number. Go to bed doing that. You work now but you don't need so but that's how like mentally. I'm like i've already forgotten about the food. Forget about the food. Because it's not what i want but why not just eat something else. There wasn't a there wasn't anything us at the time that i could have laid that. Was you know what. I'm saying to have got a little bit of seventy. Because i didn't sit down and nightside with her but i didn't eat anything which was eating. But that's show you like the mental mind is a like i. Of course a hungary's full but that's not that's not part of the goal. It's not part of the plan so sauce. Free offer does chicken pasta. And i just didn't i just didn't want the cream saying so i was like forget it man. I'll just loan. I'll i'll just forget it all together and she and she no. I'm like. I'm like that. Like when i'm done with like you said when i want i'm good when i'm with good like you know what i'm saying. I i got no problem just letting it go and Moving on and the second part about his When you working out just. I don't know man for me i just i just i just turned to something else. Man i love it. "Slightly. I believe he he. I believe he feels underrated. That is my belief. He hasn't communicated that semi but you know we had some words during a live show and he did not like the fact that damarcus wins he can be called an automatic mandatory because he meets the criteria he has two wins and then as soon significant wins right if he wins whereas white boy would only have the one very significant win over demarcus. Who holds the win over sean. Who the win over. Charge the dead. But that doesn't necessarily mean that white boy meets the criteria of actually having to wins or at lease two fights. So i sold him that you know while demarcus can be called the mandatory he. Why boy can at least petition if he were to win. Because this not like the public is going to see the level of caliber opponent. That he beat you know and fustrated him that frustrated him so i think that he's coming to make a statement. He's been wanting midi he wanted me. I am told him. You gotta get some fights and then somewhere around the line fight was offered to him and and he didn't take it. I could be wrong to you not smoke some pot but i tell you one thing when that gets made you guys are gonna love it. Those two they go back and forth whenever they do go back and forth. So i wonder how that's going to be in the ring and we'll see you again. Why boy right now is the unknown. But the known checking all the boxes. He's a hard worker. Check out his footage you know. He's in phenomenal shape. Checkout his body and he's always in the gym christmas everything he was. There you know and pg's nonetheless working though so we got a lot of interesting match ups names on this particular card and it's going to have a ripple effect on future border wars because one one turn of events is going to cause a whole. You know avalanche of things to happen and to come Just with all these fights you know The main event so intriguing marvin and keen both of these guys really really working Posting in that border wars chat It's really going back to the basics. It's funny that they chose each other because they're so similar. I mean yesterday. Accidentally they both posted working on single hand shots right like both one guy working on just jabs one guy working on gist right hands so the similarities Just continue to show themselves but that is the main event that you know so much can happen if the florida boy shot out. The team wins. I mean he shakes up the entire wars..
Trump gets experimental drug aimed at curbing severe illness
"President Trump in first Lady Melania Trump test positive for Covad 19 coming up in a few minutes, we're going to check in with Elena train. She's the White House reporter for Axios. And is about it's plugged in. Is anyone with what's going on there right now, and the events that have unfolded over the past 24 hours. The president is about to make his way to Walter Reed Hospital. Marine One is standing by at the White House right now, the White House is saying that he's being moved there as a precautionary measure. Of course, we'll continue to monitor that storyline as well. Right now. I want to go straight to the hotline and joining us. For some expert analysis of these major developments is Dr Marissa Levin, director of the Center for Leadership and Public Health Practice and professor at the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida. Dr Levine thank you for joining us and let me start with some basics on this Corona virus we're hearing about when people tested positive when they became Symptomatic. What should everyone know and understand about the early stages of this virus. Good evening. It's great to be with you. The most important thing is that there may not be any symptoms and the critical thing is too. Really take full precautions to prevent catching this forest. I think what we're seeing today shows us that this is an easily transmitted virus basically got through the security of the White House. On. That means pretty much. Anybody can catch it if we let our guard down. Can individuals tests negative today but begin to experience symptoms or tests positive within the next few days? Yeah, That's a great question, because It could take a few days three or four before we actually Khun get a positive test after you've been exposed. So if we know you have an exposure say today, often they'll be a waiting period of about 4 to 7 days actually do a test just to be sure. And during that time, the critical thing for folks is you really need to quarantine yourself meaning separate yourself from other people. So you don't spread it, potentially, you have it. It's been the toughest thing about this virus. You can have it and not even know it but still spread it. For those experiencing mild symptoms or even moderate symptoms right now, and it appears that a couple of individuals who are part of this outbreak are feeling those kinds of symptoms. When could they start to subside or in a worst case scenario, get more severe. So generally, What happens is in the first week to 10 Days is the time period where we see either progression or resolution, and people who end up getting hospitalized usually get hospitalized somewhere. Around 10 to 14 days, maybe a little earlier after they've started symptoms, And so that's why we often see when we're seeing those numbers every day. That there's a lag time if the numbers go up. Until we actually see hospitalizations and then You know. Unfortunately, people are dying from this. Unfortunately, most people don't have symptoms and do well but but dying from this is the latest outcome. That takes Anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. Really? To really show itself in the community, so that's a natural progression for somebody who's going to get worse. But the important thing is, most people do very well. The issue we have is if you're older, if you have underlying health issues You are at risk of complications and even death. And you really have to be careful to make sure you don't pick it up in the first place. And on that no President Trump's advanced age is wait. All concerns that are obviously getting a lot of attention talk a little bit more about how that factors into one's ability to recover. Sure, you know, we know a lot more now about Coke, and we know that age alone is a risk factor for more severe illness and death. One way to think about it is For people in their seventies. Based on everything we've seen, particularly in the United States and developed countries. Off 40 people who get it. On average. One person will die. So the good news is 39 people will recover. They may have some lingering effects or some other side effects that are concerning Um, but that's that's pretty significant and as your age goes up, it's even more likely to happen. Contrast that with people in their twenties, one average Yeah, you need to have about 20,000 young people at the age of 22 c one death on average. That's on average, and we had to that. In addition to age concerns, like high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, other underlying lung conditions, diabetes Then your risk goes up, regardless of age. So these are important things for everybody in the community to take notice, Because at the end of the day, you kind of have to figure out what our own risk is. And then put in place appropriate protection. I'm joined by Dr Marissa Levin, director of the Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice and professor of the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida. Of course, we're talking about the story today. The president and first lady Melania Trump testing positive For covert 19 President Trump is about to make his way to Walter Reed Hospital. And what we're hearing from the White House is that this is a precautionary measure. The president will undergo some testing. Can you talk a little bit about some of the things that his doctors air likely monitoring him for? Sure, and let me send my wishes, speedy recovery to the end to the first lady and everybody who's picking up covert. Unfortunately, so the critical thing now is To make sure that we're knowing more about the progression. They don't have a lot of Good data that we can get early on. You really just have to monitor people make sure that they're supported fully. They're getting enough fluid there, eating well resting. But most importantly, no if the tide's turned for the worst, because We've heard that the president has gotten in experimental treatments, which shows promise on that could be very helpful, but we also need to know if the tide turns for worsening. When to use went to implement some of the other present therapies that have worked for people who are hospitalized. Mom, We know a lot more now. Our own positions in the Tampa Bay region have learned a lot and we don't see death as readily as when what we saw today in New York, with the first outbreaks Partly because we've learned that there are some things that could really help. That's what will be watching the positions will be watching for and then make decisions in terms of other therapies that could be and probably time. You mentioned the experimental treatment that the president is apparently receiving Regeneron's Polly clonal anti body drug. What can you tell us about that? What do we know about that? So we know a lot about the virus in its structure and how it catches the cells in our body on what's happened here is that this company has produced About to monitor called monoclonal antibodies, which are very specific to Ah play 18 on the surface of the virus called Spike Protein, one that connects to ourselves. And the idea here is that those antibodies will block so that there can't be a connection to the virus, and that then allows the body to go ahead and try to clear the virus. So Again. It's early. It's still experimental. We don't have all the data, but the company's at least saying that there's some positive signs for that. But I think that's obviously why the president being afforded the opportunity to use that. Again. We're learning as we go. We're learning a lot more about this virus, its effects and how to mitigate it. So I think it's important for all your listeners to remember to stay up today and make sure that they know what we know about the virus so that they can Take the appropriate

Managers trying to manage teams scattered yawn people trying to get by in Quarantine Times Margaret Blazes. Megan McCarthy Carino brought us some of those stories back in the early days of this thing. She checked back in with folks this week. I I talked to Eric Selsky back. In mid March the account executive for a software company in Cleveland was working from a card table in the basement playroom screams of his children in the background. When I got in touch this week. Meghan. I'm well how are you doing well? I got the Kiddos plugin me right now. Not much had changed. He still doesn't have a desk even though he's probably going to work from home permanently his company is doing okay. "Let's continue here with the theme of the day which is in essence how we doing eight weeks into the federal government's plan to rescue this economy on the last day of March this year. Four days after the cares act became law. We got together a group of people who study economic history. All right I got out of the kitchen. Hold on who like the rest of us were and are working from home is spent this morning inside a couch fort constructed by my six year old daughter both my husband and I sort of trying to figure out the schedule so that we watch our son at different points. In the Day Jeff. Lean Day is a Johns Hopkins. Panelists number two. Was Eric Hilton. He's at Wellesley in panelists. Number three was Corolla Friedman at northwestern and we hit ask them to us back in economic time. The reason that the Great Depression was the Great Depression was that the financial system essentially melted down and for the most part. The Fed did very little to try to stop that banks by the hundreds by the thousands of forced to close. It didn't act as a lender of last resort to many banks financial system. Quake Action Tatas. So what we've learned from that is that you need to be able to bail out banks so that banks can keep on lending and restore confidence. They'd given us a couple of things. Keep an eye on. If we want to understand this crisis as of course we do unemployment. Of course and employment claims. The unemployment rate credit delinquencies credit market said it. Credit for small businesses significant Amtra lung deflation and bankruptcies so here we are eight weeks later and our panel is back. Hello hello everybody. It's good to be back. Hang on hang on. Hang on how we doing. Honestly I feel like I've done nothing but the dishes of the past eight weeks. Yes same here but the economic crisis. I think it's worse than expected as bad as I possibly imagined possibly worse. I think we're starting to see some of those indicators with these guys moving in more dangerous own okay Y. The most obvious one is that being increasing unemployment the most recent unemployment rate that was announced last month and it was fourteen point seven or fifteen percent. Those are levels that we haven't seen since the Great Depression unemployment during the Great Depression topped out at about twenty five percent ten percent during the great recession. We're now today at almost fifteen percent and we did incredibly fast. At least twenty one million jobs have been lost in something less than the past two months. It's the quickness and the severity. That is quite remarkable about this crisis. It totally is and yet. Financial markets are doing remarkably. Well still haven't seen massive strain in financial institution and. I think the reason for that has been the Fed incredibly aggressive response since this crisis started the Federal Reserve is taken steps that could wind up putting more than six trillion dollars into this economy. There has been a lesson learned from Degrade Depression. So that's good now. That other warning sign. We mentioned up top bankruptcies corporate bankruptcies yes there have been some big brand names that you know J. Crew Neiman Marcus. Jc Penney were nowhere at the level that we saw during the great recession. But I think those may end up being up later. And that's where you could start to see more lasting damage to recap our three indicators. Unemployment is bad and will likely get worse. Credit markets. Look okay so far. Companies can still borrow when they need to bankruptcies. Well we'll keep an eye on them. So what have we learned the past eight weeks? It's certainly the worst economic downturn of my lifetime month ago I wouldn't have said it will get as bad as the great depression because the factors that have caused. This are so different but now I'm not so sure I'm optimistic. Want my expectation is that he will not be another Great Depression. But the fact is there's just so much uncertainty. There is though one thing we do know. It's big it's terrifying. It's continuing to sink in and it will only be well after the fact that it's full significant is understood in other words and as with most things we will understand this crisis. Once it's in the history books to thanks again to our panelists Carl Friedman she's northwestern Kathleen Day at Johns Hopkins and Eric. At wellesley.

"Eight weeks ago today as I set up at the top of the program that cares act became law. It's officially the coronavirus aid relief and Economic Security Act. Should you be curious about that? By the way seven weeks ago today though the first day that one of the key parts of that law the paycheck protection program took effect. Marketplace's Justin Ho talk to some of the small businesses and banks most affected by it the back on the phone today to see what that law has and maybe has not done for them. It took a full week after the cares act became law for the small business loan provision called the paycheck protection program to get up and running by the end of that day. Ushwyn Day Schmuck said. He was finally making some progress on securing a loan for his New York City cocktail bar. You'll life we'll be able to get your least today by the middle of next week. Turns out. It took over a month but by this week day Schmidt said he's optimistic. He shooting to reopen the bar for carryout service and delivery a week from today and these using the loan money to hire a new chef work on all new cocktail menu and start selling baked goods. These are things that you know. We would just not focused on if the world was different right now. Like a lot of business owners who got? Pp loans they schmuck is struggling with how to meet the requirements to get the loan. Forgiven businesses have to spend seventy five percent on payroll within eight weeks. That's a problem can get in. Who Co owns a menswear store in New York are eight week very would be eight weeks that we are closed. Then it's basically virtually impossible to fulfill the payroll obligations to get the loan forgiveness. And he says having to spend most of the loan money on payroll means. You can't spend it on what he calls. His biggest problem rent payroll is flexible. Rent is not an rent input. Small businesses out of business. Some small businesses aren't worrying about getting their loan forgiven. Laura Lynn Wilson Cohen's and accounting firm in Portland Oregon. She took out a p loan insists she's rather keep cash on hand and pay off the loan later because it's like. I don't want my employees employees today. I also want them employed three months six months nine months a year from now. But Wilson says there's a risk that small businesses may not be able to pay back their loans if the virus spikes again later this year. Then the fear is okay. Can I actually keep businesses going or will I be forced to shut down in six months again? She says small business owners are worried. They'll get caught up in a cycle of having to Rehire people and then lay them off. I'm Justin Ho for marketplace coming up. That's an interesting place to put a sales person to stay like. Hey don't sell for a little bit an interesting place. Indeed but first. Let's do. The numbers Dow industrials off eight points. Today we'll call that basically flat twenty four thousand four sixty five on this Friday. The Nasdaq gained thirty. Nine points. Four tenths percent ninety three twenty four s and p five hundred sixty tenths percent ended at twenty nine and fifty five remember. Things were closed on Monday by the way for the week. The Dow up three and three tenths percent. Nasdaq IMPROVED THREE POINT. Four percent the S. and P. Five hundred zero itself three and two tenths percent higher. Bond prices rose yield on the ten year treasury notes. Dan Zero Point six five percents. You're listening to marketplace this is marketplace. I'm Kai Ryssdal. There aren't too many things more eye conic of American capitalism both the goods and the bads of it then the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange those pictures of jubilant or despondent traders depending on the day the trading floor though has been closed the past eight weeks. It's going to open up again partially on Tuesday so we got Stacey Cunningham. The president of the New York Stock Exchange on the phone to talk things over was going to have welcome to the program. Hi Chi thanks for having me on. It's great to have you here but I have to tell you. There will be people listening to this program who are sick and tired of hearing me say this. The stock market is not the economy. Now that I have the woman running the New York Stock Exchange on the phone. Help people understand the disconnect between what we all see happening in this economy and what we see happening in the markets. Sure you know as you mentioned that. The stock market is not necessarily reflective of all elements of the economy. It's when people are looking at indexes like the five hundred or the Dow Jones Industrial Average there reflective of of what investor sentiment is for a subset of companies. Then it's forward-looking so it's really what investors think might happen in the future in those companies but if you drill down to the economy you see that that's not that's not capturing what some of the small and mid sized businesses who aren't part of those indexes are going through right now. So what are you looking at as women running a company right? I mean the New York Stock Exchange as a company What are you looking at for signals as to how this economy is doing certainly unemployment numbers are are certainly relevant when we look at what the strength of the overall economy is we are looking at how the the more quickly businesses can get up and running back to normal? They can help support the other businesses. That are more impacted by the shutdown. So we have over twenty. Two hundred companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Many of them are large corporations. There were forces many for for many of them have been able to work remotely and I've been very inspired by the measures that so many of these companies have been taking to help the impacted businesses. And that will get us up and running more quickly. Let's talk about that reopening thing. New York Stock Exchange floor is going to open With some limitations which. I'm sure you'll describe to me on Tuesday Why do you need open up? Looks to me like the markets have been working for the past two months. Y'All been closed. The floor floors been closed. The certainly the markets continue to to operate a me. Ka Trait fully electronic been since March. Twenty third. What we're missing when we move to this model where we've asked were shut. The floor is the value of human judgement. So the reason why the New York Stock Exchange has the the superior market model out there that allow stocks to trade better. Isn't incorporate sophisticated technology with human judgment and saves investors money are stocks trade with less volatility? And as you've seen the stock market has been quite volatile over the past few months and you want to be able to provide that level of service. And so we're going to start heading back toward full service levels. Let me ask you about the two months that have gone by two months. You've been closed the two months the eight weeks since Congress passed the cares act that was going to take care of small businesses in this economy. What is your sense of the government's response and then what is your sense of? How much more review honestly Might be needed for this economy. I think I think the government has been very focused on trying to help and find solutions while I I will say the first phase the initial the initial plan was prioritizing speed over perfection as it should write. It was clear that something had to be done. Something had to be done in. Subsequent phases can have the a little bit more of the luxury of trying to focus on how we can get the money where where we needed to be at the right time and so I I expect any time. You're making very very quick decisions in the middle of a crisis. You have to acknowledge that if you take the time to study them. They might not be perfect. And that's okay fair enough. Stacey Cutting Hampshire's the president of the New York Stock Exchange Stacey. Thanks a lot appreciate done..

"Arguably the big global economic story of the day is that China didn't do something Beijing has scrapped. Its longstanding practice of setting a target for economic growth for the year. Gdp is what that's called. It's kind of an implicit acknowledgement that the short-term future is going to be rough for China and for everybody else as well but as marketplace's Scott Tong reports a lot of China watchers. Think the move is okay too many. This is a good news. Bad News story for China. I the Bad Beijing is not setting a GDP target so. It's less likely to push a big economic stimulus to juice. So there's less need for the kind of stimulus we saw back in two thousand eight. That's when China spend a whopping six hundred billion dollars to fight the great recession back then. Beijing had GDP targets and local officials. Who met them got promoted so many spent on projects with short term gain long term pain dirty factories companies that went under bridges to nowhere and that shortchanged other investments says China scholar Susan Shirk at Uc San Diego for years. The central government said they should know more schools. The goals are never met because the number one criteria for Fischel promotion was very so now a window for longer term priorities say innovation or wealthier consumers. Who CAN BUY NIKES N? Tesla's Yasha studies China at MIT. You subsidize consumers. No American company is going complaints with the Chinese government. Oh my Chinese consumers right. It's a win Win for China in the world if Beijing goes in that direction. I'm Scott Tong for marketplace.
"8 weeks" Discussed on Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal
"In Los Angeles. I'm Kai Ryssdal. It is Friday today. The twenty second day of Mega as always to have you along everybody. Alright if we've only got a half an hour to figure out this economy is we had best get going yes. Catherine Bell writes for The Washington. Post city. Brady is at politico. Hey you to take so me. I jumped in In my enthusiasm to get going perhaps too soon I to set the stage right eight weeks ago today the cares act was passed trillions of dollars in that the Federal Reserve as we know Katherine has plowed its own trillions. In two months later do you think well it still looks like it's GonNa get worse before it gets better. Unfortunately the obviously there's been a lot of firepower aimed at the economy Monetary and fiscal at this point but the number suggests that unemployment is still going up for example And there could be another sort of knock on effect that we could imagine happening quite soon which is state and local governments facing fiscal crises. At this point and they've already laid off almost a million workers last month and with their new fiscal year. Coming up as you could imagine more cuts which we saw on the aftermath of the great recession and prolonged the the amount of time. It took to recover from that so you might see that happening again right. And we will feel that obviously and local school districts and all of that stuff down the line so deep What your two cents on. How we're doing here. It feels to a lot of people like this was a the wave and we went to the bottom of the wave. Now we're GONNA come back from it and there's a perception out there that ono there could be a second way of our third wave. And what does that feel like when in reality what we're going to probably see our fifty different states with different ways all with their own roller coaster going up and down for months. Maybe even the next year and that is going to be really dizzying for everybody. Because we're used to thinking that everybody in America's GonNa come out of something together and we're GonNa see this shoot up and outside of the stock market you're not seeing that you're seeing You're seeing just like a really really confusing mixed picture across the country. Catherine a brief detour to the Federal Reserve. Here and I honestly mean brief because he gets a lot of press on this program because You know he's running the American economy. I am struck by the Powell. Palooza right. He is everywhere in a way that Fed shares have not been in the past. He's doing these these webinar things. He's doing another one. I think on Tuesday. What do you make? I think the Fed sees itself rightly so as sort of unnecessary rescuer of the economy here. Bernike broke ground. I would argue on this. You know about a decade ago coming out in in doing media interviews Powell's during the same thing part of establishing and maintaining the feds credit credibility of course is acknowledging the risks saying how bad it could get but also explaining what the path might be to mitigate those risks and so I think you see him going out and trying to communicate with the public. What the Fed is doing and also to some extent what he hopes his counterparts on Capitol Hill would be doing which which again involves fiscal policy. Thank you for that setup because the next question goes to use to deep ready Washington person for politico The Democrats passed a a mostly posturing bill a week or so ago When THAT BILL? Passed Senate Leader Mitch. Mcconnell said no way. It's dead now Mr McConnell has has started to say Oh yeah we might need another bill Do you think it's actually gonNA come in any speedy sense of the term Expeditiously I think it depends on. How bad conditions Look few weeks from now Mitch McConnell trying to play this Really delicate dance. He wants the economy He doesn't want states in state and local governments to keep relying on federal expectations and This will cost less in in his mind. This will cost less to the government if they can get the economy reopened. That's obviously a huge bet. Because you get the economy reopened to quickly. Then everything falls aren't costs more so they're all in this this weird dance to to just like try to buy time right now but the by buying time toward what is the question and he knows he's going to have to do something it's just. What kind of mix is going to have to come In the package right Catherine quickly on the way out here. I'll split the remaining forty five seconds between the two of you. What what good do you see out there? What green shoots might be seeing? I think it's a little bit hard to tell at this point. You know what's green shoot in? What's a weed or poison ivy or whatever? The right metaphor is because again. So if there's an there's an uptick in economic activity and that means that Economic activity resumes too quickly and prematurely in that we still research consent in infections. That's bad so is a good or bad at MTA MTA ridership. Is I don't know I will say one metric does look encouraging is that mortgage applications are up That seems like it's unlikely to raise the risk. People buying houses unlikely to raise the risk of getting sick all that much but is is a good indicator that some economic activity can resume so deep. Quickly your your dental metaphor of choice if you are look look. There's some people who are living in beautiful rose gardens right now. The the big box retailers of plenty of businesses are doing just fine right now and they're living through it and There's a huge swath of the country. We have to America's a huge swath that that looks like they're they're sitting on scorched than they have no idea when they're going to get out of it so that that's what it is and Like they're they're like two different worlds in one of them screen one of not so deep brady at Politico Catherine Pell. The Washington Post your gardening segments on marketplace. Thank you too thanks guys. Thanks Nice Weekend Wall Street on this Friday of a holiday weekend kind of a wash. Actually we'll have the details when we do. The numbers.
