But then 24 hours later, a 52 year old woman was pulled from the 6 story structure, prompting concerns that additional survivors might still be inside. After a missing woman poked her head out of a fourth floor window, about 24 hours after her building partially collapsed. They're getting her. Family say this is Lisa Brooks, firefighters rescued her on Monday evening. Hours before the building's demolition was scheduled for Tuesday morning. A family member said Brooks hid under the couch when the building gave way, and a reported natural gas leak may have caused her to pass out. When first responders arrived at the scene Sunday, the discovered the back of the wall of the 6 story building torn away, exposing personal belongings inside. Canine teams helped search for residents and crews rescued at least 8, but concerns grew when the building was set to be demolished before Brooks was discovered. Sitting there. My heart dropped to my big toes. Her nephew said his family had been searching for her since the collapse, and now that she's safe, they're worried others may be left behind. It is unclear this morning if plans to demolish that building today are still in the works. Republican lawmakers in Texas have approved a ban on offices and programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at publicly funded colleges and universities. Democratic leaders, college educators and students warned that the ban could have wide repercussions from a school's ability to attract and retain students from diverse backgrounds to weakening chances of winning research and programming grants. An official who wants to remain anonymous tells The Associated Press that social media accounts believed to have been used by 33 year old Mauricio Garcia appeared to have expressed an interest in white supremacist and neo Nazi views, Garcia was wearing a patch that read R wds short for right wing death squad. It's a phrase that has been embraced in recent years by far right extremists who glorify violence against their political enemies, one group that has adopted the term is the Proud Boys, smaller groups that participated in the white nationalist unite the right rally in Charlottesville Virginia in August 2017 were named right-wing death squad, Garcia, who opened fire at the mall on Saturday, was killed by a police officer. "A lot of horrific news out of the state of Texas, a lot of bloodshed, 8 lives lost outside of mall and Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas, 8 lives lost outside of migrant center in Brownsville, Texas. I just have a direct question for you. Why are the lives lost in Allen more significant than the lives lost in Brownsville? And of course, we all know the answer to that question. The answer to the question is crystal clear. A guy used a gun to murder 8 people outside the shopping mall in Allen, a guy used a Range Rover to allegedly or possibly murder 8 people in Brownsville. We don't know yet if it was intentional. Sure seems to be, if you've seen the video from Brownsville, it looks intentional. I can't speculate, no idea, I don't know, maybe the guy fell asleep at the wheel and it was just a, just a car accident. Doesn't seem to be. We'll have to wait. But I would submit to you that the 8 lives taken in Brownsville are every bit as important as the 8 lives taken in Allen, Texas.

SUV driver hits crowd at Texas bus stop near border; 8 dead
"8 people were killed and at least ten injured after an SUV crashed into them at a bus stop outside of a homeless shelter in Brownsville, Texas. A mass was held in the Texas border city of Brownsville Sunday evening for the victims of a fatal crash, police say an 8th victim died Sunday Night after an SUV ran into a group of people waiting for a bus Sunday morning across the street from the ozone center, the only overnight shelter in the city of Brownsville, shelter director Victor Maldonado, says most of the victims were Venezuelan men, we have never seen something like this. He says surveillance footage shows the vehicle running a red light before it ran up on the curb crashed into the group of the bus stop, flipped over and continued moving for about 200 feet. Whether it was an accident or intentional, that is still under investigation. Police spokesman lieutenant Martin Sandoval, the driver is detained, and of course he is under arrest. More than 5 years after he was shot and killed by U.S. park police after a slow speed chase on the GW Parkway, mija Gaza's family has reached a settlement with the U.S. government for $5 million, WTO's Meghan clarity with more. This settlement when approved by a federal judge marks the end of the Gaza family's attempts to seek justice and bijan's killing in November 2017. The Washington Post reports, it is a sign that law enforcement is trying to understand how potentially dozens of people may have had access to this highly sensitive info before it circulated on the Internet. It was spotted by journalists. He was arrested last week, charged with the illegally retaining and transmitting classified info on that server. He's not getting concerned people on the phone, which does give them more time to try to leverage each other and continue with this standoff. McCarthy has said he expects to bring a bill formally to a vote in the house next week. Stay tuned. LGBTQ groups in Florida are taking a second look at planned events in the future after state lawmakers passed a bill. They say targets, drag shows. The bill bans miners from attending adult live performances and while it doesn't specifically mention drag shows, LGBTQ activists say they've been targeted. We've lost sponsorships. Danielle hollow is organizing Lake county, Florida's first pride event, which he says is dependent on drag performers. Thus causes us to have to find new performers, possibly a new venue. The bill's author says it only targets sexually explicit events, but critics say that leaves a lot of wiggle room. The state is threatened to revoke the liquor license of one venue that hosted a drag Christmas show with three children at attendance while performers mooned the audience and war prosthetic female genitalia. About an hour or so from now, the group is objecting to a law signed this week that says runaway children seeking gender affirming care can be protected by state shelters and parents don't have to be notified about the whereabouts. Julie Barrett went through something similar with her own 14 year old daughter. If you've got a kid in crisis, things can go south really fast and Washington with these laws is not a safe place for children and does not allow parents to help their kids. Supporters of the measure argue that young people need to have a safe place to go if their parents are guardians don't support their gender care choices. You can hear more. I'm sure in the next couple of days about how this is going to play out. But the protest for tonight is scheduled to begin at 3 o'clock and last through the evening hours. Drop in crisis relief centers could answer the question of where police officers and other first responders can take a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Northwest news radio score, hey, tells us more. The state Senate has unanimously approved a bill that directs the State Department of Health to certify a new type of facility offering a short term stay less than 24 hours to someone experiencing a mental health crisis, unlike at an emergency room or jail admission would require no medical clearance. King County council member Sarah Perry supports the measure citing the current unprecedented behavioral healthcare crisis. We don't have the systems in place to meet the need or even a single walk in place where someone with a behavioral healthcare crisis could go get care. Representative Joe schmick, colfax Republican offers bipartisan support. I like the policy. I like where it's going law enforcement likes it because they've not really had a place to take these folks. And he points out a major challenge. I wonder how we're going to staff it. That may be up to the individual counties who paid for these centers. King County's current special election proposes a property tax to fund behavioral health services, including 5 crisis relief centers. Corwin hake, northwest, news radio, a bill banning child marriage, stalls in the state legislature, Washington is among just 17 states that doesn't have a legal minimum age to get married, just as long as a parent or a judge signs off on it. Jackie Kent has the story. Brett Monica Estonia is the bill's sponsor. Is a piece of legislation that I think is crucial, many of our young people find themselves trapped in coercive long-term married long-term relationships in a marriage. It's just a matter of getting legislators to prioritize girls. Almost all of the miners who marry in Washington and across the U.S. are girls married to adult men. Pretty Reese founded the nonprofit unchained at last after surviving a forced marriage at age 19 and works to end forced and child marriage across the country. There was a mass shooting in Louisville again, she was saying that the Republicans are failing to do something about gun violence. Something got to do something. You got it, there's got to be something that can be done. Well, what would you have us do? What do they do in Mexico? What are they doing in Mexico? Hear about the mass shooting in Mexico. I'll bet you didn't. 8 people were slaughtered at a luxury resort, poolside. 8 people shot dead, including a child. And I'm not asking this question rhetorically. I mean this sincerely. Is there a big gun control debate in Mexico? There's a lot of gun violence in Mexico. Isn't there? Are they sitting around on the talk shows and in the halls of their political environment and debating gun violence in Mexico? Or do they just talk about the bad guys?

14-year-old boy arrested in Mexico for murder of 8
"A 14 year old boy accused of being a hit man in a drug related shooting is under arrest in Mexico. The boy is nicknamed capito or little Chapo after the imprisoned drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, authorities near Mexico City alleged that in January the boy rode up on a motorcycle and opened fire on a family holding a birthday party in a Mexico City suburb, killing 8 people and leaving 5 adults and two children wounded, a man was also arrested in the killings and 7 other members of the gang were arrested on drug charges, the motive for the killings has not been made public, I'm down a water

"Morning continues its 14 till. Former president Donald Trump campaign in Iowa last night for the first time since announcing his bid for the presidency in 2024. Correspondent Clayton Neville reports that Trump boasted of his achievements, but also made news before his plane landed in Davenport. Former president Donald Trump and Davenport Iowa came just days after Florida's Republican governor Ron DeSantis made a speech in the same town. Now, desantis hasn't said he's running for president, but is still thought to be competition for Trump. Desantis heavily touted his education policies and pushed education over indoctrination. Trump touched on the topic, too. I'm saying parents you have rights. That's what I said, basically. Parents you have rights. He also praised his administration's work for farmers. And our Department of Agriculture cut 7 old regulations for every one new regulation saving farmers and taxpayers, $262 billion a year, at least. The former president hit on a number of topics, including the southern border. You think it was easy to get Mexico to say, oh, we'd love to have a stay in Mexico policy. I said, look, you have to do this because if you don't do it, we're going to put tariffs on everything that you have said. They said we would love to do it, sir. It would be a great honor. He managed to squeeze in a few references to his unproven claims of fraud in the 2020 election that he lost to President Biden. He can only win if you cheat at elections, okay? Because there's nobody going to say that open borders is a thing that's popular. Trump went after the Biden administration and said Russia's invasion of Ukraine likely wouldn't have happened if he was president. Well, this administration, you could end up in World War three because they don't speak right. They don't send the messages outright. Still early on the campaign trail, but things are slowly and surely ramping up a new Des Moines register poll shows that if president Trump is the Republican nominee again, 74% of Republicans in Iowa would likely vote for him, but desantis right there, just a couple points behind when paired against the former president. 8 dead, 7 missing after boat capsizes off San Diego coast
"Authorities say at least 8 people died and others are unaccounted for when a pair of migrant smuggling boats flipped over near a San Diego beach. It's one of the worst boats smuggling accidents off the coast of California. We've lost 8 souls. San Diego lifeguard chief James gartland on KG TV says they spent the early morning hours Sunday, searching for possible survivors. After receiving a 9-1-1 call from a woman who said that her boat had capsized along with a second vessel. When rescuers arrived 8 were dead, some 15 others unaccounted for. We did the best we could to recover people from the water, try and find survivors. Coast guard captain James spittler says smuggling enterprises lure these migrants into a dangerous trip. These people are often labor trafficked and sex trafficked when they arrive. Border patrol says there's been a sharp increase in the number of smuggling trips and fatalities in recent years. German police: 8 dead in Jehovah's Witnesses hall shooting
"Police in Germany say 8 people were killed when a shooter opened fire at a Jehovah's Witness hall in Hamburg. Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene Thursday evening of a three story building next to an auto repair shop a few miles from downtown Hamburg, police believe the shooter is among the 8 dead. They're not sure how many people were wounded. A student who lives near by says there were around four periods of shooting. She says she looked out her window and saw a person running from the ground floor to the second floor of the building, a U.S. based spokesman for Jehovah's Witnesses says in an emailed statement that members worldwide grief for the victims of this traumatic event. "Accusing a middle school this week in fairfax county of racially discriminating against children. The accusation is in response to fairly to a letter sent out to the parents of 8th graders about fairfax county public schools college preparation program. The Republican attorney general Jason miara is taking issue with an email sent out by Cooper middle school last week, which only listed some races and ethnicities for students who should apply for the program. Mia is in a letter to the school demanded the email be retracted and that the school proved the program doesn't discriminate in response, fairfax county public schools says claims of a ban on certain demographic groups applying for the program is wholly inaccurate and criticized the attorney general for not contacting the school system before a niche words making false and damaging public accusations against the school. Says last year, 8% of the students in the program were white in 26% were Asian American, Mike Morello WTO news. He was trusted for years as a local police officer, then as the chief of Laurel police, but now a jury has convicted 71 year old David Crawford of setting fires that apparently endangered the lives of at least 8 people. A Howard county jury convicted the former Laurel police chief on all counts following a weeklong trial. The judge allowed for prosecutors to introduce evidence from fires linked to Crawford across Maryland, as he's facing similar charges of arson and Montgomery and prince George's counties and was just convicted last week in Frederick county. His attorney Robert Bond says they plan to appeal the decision, noting there was no evidence the individual who set the fires intended to kill anyone. Prosecutors say Crawford is responsible for fire, spanning from 2011 to 2020. Meghan cloher, WTO news. "You want me to FedEx you documents to get a wet signature on it and then have the other 8 people sign it and that sort of stuff. It feels archaic. But just three years ago, we were doing that. But right, and the ability to do things, when I launched my firm, me and my partners, we were national, so we were always in the cloud, and we were always virtual. I found the pandemic kind of amusing for lots of people discovered video chat and screen sharing, all this technology is a decade old, how do you get ahead of a curve when suddenly you have a two year just rush into that space? How do you separate the winners from the also rans? Yeah. It's through a lot of work. It's through a lot of research. And it's by having people that specialize in that particular area. It's about surrounding yourself with not generalist consultants that come in and tell you this market is big and growing. We want we want our teams to engage with organizations that are specialized or better yet individuals that have been running companies in those spaces and that have been there and done that and know where the bodies are buried. Those are the people that we want to align with as we're going in to due diligence. We want to work with them and have them join the boards of our companies and so it comes by surrounding yourself with the right people and the right kind of people as you go into researching these type of businesses. So you mentioned earlier the marketplace is changing. What was tailwinds very often today? Our headwinds, which raises the important question, how important are private markets to the economy relative to public markets? In fact, you had suggested public markets decoupled from the real economy and now it's all about what's private. Well, I wouldn't say it's all about what's private, but there has clearly been an evolution that a lot of people haven't been fully conscious of. It's been a shift in roles, really, that the public markets are playing in the private markets are playing. It used to be the private markets where where you went to bed. Speculative investments. This is where you went to get your risky venture capital exposure or your highly leveraged equity exposure. It was called an alternative asset class. Because you were meant to allocate maybe the small little sliver. You're kind of in the public markets, is where you go to invest into bedrock companies that anchor the economy, household names, et cetera. That has changed. If you look at the companies that have been going public, the capital formation that's been occurring within the public markets. A lot of people are shocked when they dig into it. And they learn that only 20% of the companies that have been going public more recently have an earnings history. Okay? The vast majority are technology companies selling the dream or their shell companies without financial substance, those are the companies going public. Why Politicians Should Be More Authentic
"You know, I really wish politicians would be authentic. I really, really believe with my whole heart and sometimes I ponder this with myself 'cause I don't even tell my wife about it 'cause she told me no. That should I run for office. Now let me give you an evaluation of that on my end. I honestly believe I would be probably one of the better representatives out of most people that run for office in my opinion. And I think I will win in a landslide. However, there's not just whether you would win and whether you think you can really represent the people in an effective way, is do you want to go through the turmoil? Do you believe that you would be effective as a one vote person versus the influence that you have now? I would argue that I enjoy to come to work, really whatever time I want to come to work, for the most part, if I don't have meetings and stuff all day and schedule, and if I don't want meetings, I just don't schedule them. But because I'm a hard worker, I schedule stuff all day long and for the time I work out until the time I come in here and do a team meetings on Monday Wednesday Friday, I'm here from anywhere between 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock, all the way to when I leave this show. 7, 8 o'clock at night. But I enjoy being able to interact. I enjoy building a team. I mean, I started with just me and now I got like 8 people. And I think we're going to just continue to grow in a tremendous way. I enjoy doing that. I enjoy coming up on the radio and being able to speak to the people, YouTube channel, to millions of people a month, and I think that those things are more valuable, in my opinion, to my exposure, or to me, being exposed, exposing the truth to people, those avenues and channels of more invaluable to me and I think I make a better impact than being isolated into a political position.
