"79 degrees, and that brings our Cuomo news time to 4 35. The Taliban announces its new government and for more Americans have left Afghanistan. ABC s Andy Field, joining us on the Cuomo, Newsline and Let's begin with the Americans who got out of Afghanistan who got them out. Do we even know the State Department said they with big Air quotes helped facilitate their departure. But they're not saying exactly how they did it. There are Republicans in Congress who say they are working with private organizations, former folks who served in the military over there and others who basically said no, no, no, no, we help get them out. We're the ones who are on the phone with him getting them out of there, so there seems to be some dispute as to who Who is responsible for this, But it's four people, and apparently they got out over land. And they face some pretty serious scary times facing Taliban armed soldiers who kept them for many hours on end and then finally let them past the checkpoints and out of the country. The U. S State Department says there are about 100 more American passport holders still in the country, But they have emphasized over and over again that many of them are dual citizens. A lot of them were conflicted about whether they were going to leave up until the very end. Then just go. Can get out because despite state Department warnings back in March, they decided to stick around, even though the US told them to get out as quickly as they could, and now it's really up to the Taliban to say yes, these passport holders. Some of them are dual passport holders. That means that they are either Afghans who have U. S citizenship or U. S citizens who have Afghan citizenship more than likely because of their family ties. There. It's now a challenge to get the rest of them out of there. We're learning more about the Taliban. Government today. No women in that lineup, but it is a who's who have quite interesting characters. Yeah, it looks like the lineup from America's most monitor the FBI's most wanted list that we have Mullah Hassan a. Coon, who is the new acting prime minister. This is the so called caretaker government. He's on the United Nations sanctions list. Then there's sure Okucani, who has been appointed the minister of interior, he just happens to be listed by the FBI's a designated terrorist. And if you go on and on down the list here, speaking of women Not only are there no women in this new government here, but the Taliban announced that they have gotten rid of the Ministry of Women's affairs. Apparently they don't need that anymore. Despite they're saying that they are not hostile to women, and that women need not fair. They're taking over the government there. But, of course, many still are very afraid of what's happening now. Now that the old government's gone and the Afghan military is no longer there to protect them. What does it mean by a caretaker government? You know, your guess is as good as mine. Apparently, they're the ones saying, Hey, we're In charge. But being in charge and actually governing are two different things. You have to set up an army. You have to set up a police force. You have to have a citizen tree that it actually looks at you and says yes. We think you are the legitimate government. And if you don't have that Then you have chaos and anarchy there, which apparently exists in some parts of the country, or at least people living in fear not coming out of their house. Not going to work in the economy completely paralyzed, which also we're hearing is is the case. The Taliban if they want to govern, will have to deal with the rest of the world, which is where the United States insists it still has leverage because it holds billions in frozen funds from the old government. Plus if they want to do outside business with other countries, the United States is one big customer. And if the United State doesn't deal with you, then you're not going to get that business and that income. How do we deal with them when one of them the appointed Minister of Interior is listed as a designated terrorist and wanted by our government for a terror attacks and ties to Al Qaeda? Yeah, we're not getting that answer from the State Department or the president. The president was asked if he was going to recognize the Taliban government of Afghanistan and his response was pretty risk and said, that's a long way off A B C's and appeal. Joining us from D. C. Thank you, Andy. Thank you. Come on news time now fourth 39 come.
