The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix
A highlight from Preseason Begins & The Annual GM Survey
"This is the crossover NBA podcast Chris Mannix joined as I always am by Chris Herring and Rohan Nadkarni. Quick housekeeping note fellas the NBA preview issue is out I guess the basketball preview issue because there is a lot of college stuff in there as well but the cover is NBA Jimmy Butler guest editor for this NBA preview issue Rohan you spent some time with Jimmy Butler in parts unknown I assume South Florida did a a story with him it's excellent check that out I've got a piece on the Phoenix Suns spent some time talking to Matt Ishbia James Jones Frank Vogel key pieces of that organization trying to recreate exactly what happened after the season ended how they got this point where they have one of the most expensive teams in NBA history a lot of good stuff there scouting reports different elements as well make sure you pick up the magazine on stands right now. So fellas we've got the NBA GM survey that's out and I want to dive into some of the elements of that but before we start recording this podcast I was just going through social media looking up some clips and all that stuff and I came across one from the Pat Bev pod the Patrick Beverly pod he does with Barstool Sports I just want to play this clip for you because Pat Bev was joined by Michael Rubin the former owner of the Philadelphia 76ers now this still the CEO with fanatics someone who has a strong relationship with a lot of players including James Harden who they discussed in this clip here as a past NBA owner obviously you're close to the Sixers the situation that's going on with James Harden how would you handle it it wouldn't have happened you know first of all James is family to me and like I'm not going to hide about that I love James this thing is breaking my heart this thing was just not handled well he was playing with us in practice and boy he was cooking he was oh I'm talking about the pot was out and he was stirring that bitch up there's nobody who wants to win a championship more than James Harden I know this guy like my brother people give James a hard time because you know he likes to have fun it's bullshit like the guy the guy's work ethic for basketball is insane and his attitude has been great he's been leading he's been giving advice so you might hear all the bad shit you know TV from reporters that's not there but actually being a teammate that's there he's he's been phenomenal I block out the noises really same because I think a lot of people just don't know like the real James Harden how badly he wants to win I think he's in great not good shape he's in great shape yeah he's in great shape right that's right body looks great yeah every time I'm in the weight room he's in the weight room he's gonna ball out this year so herring I know my blood shouldn't boil when I hear stuff like this and I know it you know the podcast is doing its job if it gets me kind of drawn in and talking about it but to hear Michael Rubin say that James Harden wants to win a championship more than anyone at the same time that James Harden is trying to force his way off a championship contender that is a Rubik's Cube of nonsense that I'm really having a hard time wrapping my head around your thoughts on the propaganda emerging from the Pat Bev pod about James Harden I'm just trying to think of a stranger mashup than the one you just explained I mean the the whole universe of Michael Rubin and all the there's so many things lately that just on social media that I've wanted to mute and I don't think I know enough about how to do it I haven't taken the time to do it but if I had a way of muting like Michael that Rubin parties James Harden and any other number of athletes are at or like all these white parties and everything else it's like I would do that but that makes this element of this story this this framing odd because it's like okay well he presumably is friendly with James Harden or James Harden is friendly with him but also the fundamental standpoint now at this point that maybe there are people in the organization that instead of kind of just gloves off which it seemed like it would be based on what James Harden said about Daryl Morey earlier this summer that there's also the very real possibility that maybe he's not traded and so they need him to feel wanted and they need him to feel like they want him to perform well which is what you would want if you're a team that at least there's a you said in one of the last pockets we did it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could be a winner a contender a champion if everything fell right you know the right way so I think that's all this is is just positive reinforcement but I mean it's also silly from the standpoint that you're saying that clearly people that are making trade demands whether it's behind the scenes whether it's publicly whether it's saying my general manager my president is a liar it's hard to hold those two thoughts in the same time in your head that you know on the one hand he can say those things but also nobody wants it more than he does come on like I did I know it's just you know the first thing probably that popped into Ruben's mind but it's just silly Rowan I know you're you're a regular at these white parties but do you have a issue let me just first of all echo my esteemed colleague Chris herrings fatigue with Michael Rubin just this guy's everywhere all the time fanatics sucks I'll say it fanatics is not good wow let's start there I mean like kudos to Michael Rubin you know what he did getting involved with meat mill etc but like we could have left it at that listen I if I were James Harden I might be living my life a similar way I let me put it that way but there is now a what is it a preponderance of evidence that winning a championship is not necessarily number one on this guy's priority list just not only in terms of how he's carried himself this offseason but how he likes to carry himself during the season when he's staying in Miami or Vegas for an extra night I'm away from steam mates are flying separately etc that all that stuff's been reported I'm just I'm sick of the the Sixers offseason I'm sick of the Embiid hard in partnership I respect you Mannix for still holding out hope having faith you've always been kind of an optimist a wanderer a dream I died that's why I don't describe you but I'm just so over this it just well like you said I mean respect to that podcast we're here talking about it I love Pat Bev he's a good personality but like what are we doing here Michael Rubin who are you who are you fooling okay we are familiar with James Harden's game okay you're not fooling us game off the court specifically right like you you can't say James Harden is misunderstood or gets a bad rap when right he he forced his way out of Houston by throwing a multi -week temper tantrum he effectively quit on the Nets which forced them to make a when deal they probably didn't want to and now here he is trying to get out of Philadelphia after holding you know one of the worst holdouts in holdout history to stay away from the team it just the the I mean just trying to get us to believe that is just wild so you know we had to talk about it you know James Harden still officially member of the 76ers we'll see what happens as these preseason games go on and what they do with them but right now James Harden kind of between a rock and a hard place might have to play for Philadelphia this season so I want to talk in this episode about the GM survey which always provides good preseason material whenever it comes out and there were some interesting elements in this year's GM survey guys and I want to start with the championship prediction from the NBA GMs which turned into a two -way tie between the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets Milwaukee coming into third place 23 % Phoenix 7 % they came in fourth in the LA Clippers finishing at 3 % last year the Bucks were the leader at 43 % Denver doesn't surprise me Denver has the core of that team back we've talked about this before I think they can expect some organic growth from Christian Brown I think Peyton Watson might be able to play they've some other guys on that roster that can take steps up by the way while we're speaking of the Nuggets condolences to Mike Malone's family for the passing of Brendan Malone his father that was revealed by the organization this week but when it comes to Denver on the floor I can see why they'd be a championship contender the Celtics I might be one of the few pessimists I don't know if I'm pessimistic about the South I have more questions about the Celtics than many people do my good friend Scalabrini was on TV recently and he said every GM would want this roster and I tend to agree with that sort of because if you could bubble wrap this roster and guarantee that it plays 65 to 70 games together and will be healthy going into the playoffs I think you're absolutely right I think the backcourt is really strong especially defensively Drew Holliday elite defender Derek White big time defender we know what Jalen Brown Jason Tatum can do you know that that that speaks for itself the front court is good right Chris has Porzingis good player Al Horford good player but Porzingis chronically injured right like he played what 60 -65 games last year but that was a contract year and I have less confidence he's going to be able to repeat that he was already injured this off season with whatever happened with his foot over in the World Cup Al Horford's 37 by design he's probably only going to play like 50 games this year because they want to keep him healthy for the playoffs so we don't know what's what Al Horford is going to look like at the end of this season after that what is there they signed Wennion Gabriel Wennion Gabriel last year played 68 games for the Lakers in the playoffs he played 10 he averaged 3 .7 minutes per game in the playoffs with the Lakers last year that is the definition of playable in the regular season and unplayable in the playoffs like it just is what it is Luke Cornette is still there he was unplayable for Boston in the playoffs last year you know this is a team that was already thin when Grant Williams was there now Grant Williams is gone and I don't know what they do if one of these two guys goes down for any length of time so that's a long way of saying like yeah I can buy the argument that the Celtics are the team to beat Eastern Conference I can buy the argument that they are a championship contender but Rohan I just I have a lot of concerns about what happens if anything goes south in that front court I agree I mean that's why I thought the holiday trade was so fascinating and why I wasn't sure how seriously to take Boston as a contender for holiday even though his name was obviously their name was obviously coming up that entire weekend before he was traded a huge reason why they've been been special the last few years is kind of the alchemy of their front court mix -in matching Horford, Rob Williams, and Grant Williams that's gone entirely I see people saying now Porzingis and Horford might start together this talks about does Derek White come off the bench there's a right that's another thing I don't understand I mean you don't you don't have a backup really for either guy right now why aren't they backing up each other that already is starting to not make a ton of sense for me the way I look at it Mannix is I do think we're starting to see some trickle -down effect of the second apron because you look at the top teams right now whether it's Milwaukee, Boston, Phoenix, Denver to an extent it's not that the championship teams of yesteryear were flawless but we're looking at teams that are especially top heavy these days and Boston doesn't have a lot of avenues to improve the roster same for Milwaukee I mean I think Milwaukee has a great five and uh Holliday, Conaton, Middleton, Giannis, and Lopez but then they have Bobby Portis and they have a bunch of question marks after that they don't have a lot of playoff rotation guys uh Phoenix is in a similar boat Denver I think you and I are probably high on Denver's bench than most people we like what we think Peyton Watkins can do Peyton Watson can do Zeke Najee Swarther had a nice pre -season debut but those are a bunch of question marks for them right now so on one hand I echo your skepticism about Boston only in terms of Horford's coming off the worst postseason of his career um I think on both ends of the floor and he's only getting older Porzingis he's played 10 playoff games in his life but when you match them up against kind of the other contenders unless you think like a team like the Lakers or Warriors who have a little bit more depth maybe not quite as much top and talent uh can make a push I understand why you'd put Boston there only because I think a lot of the contenders are really top heavy right now well I mean but the the front court like to get out of the Eastern Conference you gotta get through Milwaukee and Milwaukee's front court is still really strong they still have all the pieces that were in place they still got Giannis still got Brook Lopez still got Bobby Portis they've still got all the guys that have the potential to give Boston a lot of problems and I go back a couple of years and the Celtics back when they had Rob Williams and they had Grant Williams they were in the mix for Yaka Purdle when San Antonio was trying to deal him they wanted to get Purdle they didn't want to get two first -round draft picks back then but they knew back then when they had you know three you know strong front court guys that they needed one more to get through Milwaukee that was when they made the deal for Mike Mascala and he turned out to be unplayable in the playoffs as well so I have concerns about Boston's front court anything about the predictions hearing concern you or you know stand out to you whether it's the Celtics or somebody else I mean I can admit to the same thing you guys are saying that I was surprised that Boston was tied for first for just you know the team that GM's thought was the most likely to win the whole thing it's really hard for me to look at this roster without wincing just a little bit we all can acknowledge that there's a lot of top and talent in this team there was before the moves they made this summer there is now the Porzingis fit is interesting I think everybody can look at that and say wow that if this works out they can win a title obviously no one's denying that it's just to have him and Horford as your two centers and then Wendy and Gabriel who I really like but I don't think of as necessarily my second or third string center or you know if he's even a center he's like six nine or whatever he is so that's all it's just you know and look I've been critical of the Celtics from the standpoint of you're trading away a lot to get Porzingis if only you're talking about Marcus Smart from the standpoint of you know a backbone a heart and soul obviously a very versatile important defender within that cog that they have defensively so they go get Drew Holliday and I think it does kind of answer a lot of those questions a lot of those criticisms but I just I still wonder a little bit of if now you're doing that and in doing that you give away Robert Williams if it makes you thinner at the spot that I was most concerned about now you know it's center even when they had those three it was kind of a weird hodgepodge of guys that you're not for any reason you're not gonna feel comfortable about whether they can hold up and be healthy the whole year also stylistically if you're missing one of guys it changes the way your offense looks because two of them are guys that can shoot from three one is a guy that's kind of more around the rim and setting screens and stuff like that so anyway I was just a little bit surprised that as we're all acknowledging the potential thinness of this group that they would be a co -favorite here I think the Nuggets still deserve to be the favorite and I personally would probably take the Bucks over the Celtics as a favorite but but all that said you know I don't think there's a runaway team here after the Nuggets I would probably leave them at number one because there was a lot of other stuff that happened between the depth of the Lakers the top end stuff of the Celtics the top end stuff of the Bucks to me when I see that much stuff happening I'm just going to defer to the team that won last year that granted they did lose some things but they have the potential to get better with more continuity of the top end guys that they have that haven't been healthy up until last year so I would you know I was a little bit surprised to see that Boston pulled into a tie with Denver among the GMs well we as we know the Boston media mafia is working over time in these kinds of situations I'm kidding I know it was the GM survey one thing I want to throw out there is in a in kind of a funny twist like the Celtics have had the best Joel Embiid defender over the years in Al Horford and Horford was giving Embiid problems in the semis last year to the point where Tucker had to get in his face and be like bro you need to take this matchup but what does Boston do now in that matchup because if you're playing Horford against Embiid does that mean you're playing Porzingis and Horford together and which of your guards are you keeping off the floor does that mean you keep Derek White off the floor it's kind of an interesting problem they've created for themselves unless they're willing to live with Porzingis on Embiid but that kind of takes away one of the biggest strengths they've had in that matchup over the years yeah is it going to be a challenge for them because Horford has been excellent I mean Embiid he gives him so many problems he clearly has the timing down on Embiid like he does he knows yeah it's fat it's fantastic to watch he pushes him off his spots he's he's just got a lot of you know and maybe some of it's mental too like Embiid's seen him so many times over the years that it's like all right well Al Horford again and you know he's asked about every single postseason he's had great games against Horford don't get me wrong he's played really well at times but it is I have a little surprise guys that the team nobody's really in on the Suns yet seven percent seem a little low for me you know man look I understand maybe Herring you got to give this team time to figure itself out and see if these guys can play together and see if this mix of players can work but you know if that team gets the playoffs fully healthy hard to stop very hard to stop in the postseason no no question I mean you know I watched clips I watched bits of the the game that they played against the Pistons and granted it's the Pistons you know one of the youngest teams in the league but to watch the Suns who you know have just started playing together that you know have 80 points between the first and the third quarter of a road game road opener for preseason there's obviously a lot of potential there offensively I would say that as we talk the things we like and dislike about teams the thinness the depth of these rosters I'm a little bit surprised that the Suns haven't done a little bit more to go out and get a a bonafide point guard I think it's a big granted you have a lot of ball handling on that roster it's not to say you don't and top level guys that can do it but it's a big change to go from having Chris Paul be your point guard and even to have campaign be your backup point guard to then going and just saying we're you know we're going to kind of take the Clippers route to have our forwards handle the ball to have Devin Booker handle the ball again all guys that can do it but these are also guys that you like to just kind of throw in iso situations you don't want to wear them down the whole season of having them handle the ball so I they've added depth and I think they need that they obviously needed it last offseason or I'm sorry last postseason and so they've done well to add to that but I think that they still it would do them well to have even if it's you know I look at something like what the Bulls did they went and got Javon Carter someone that played for the Suns at one point the sort of guy that could really be helpful to this team I also wonder just a little bit just a little and I think I saw some of this in their first preseason game as well Yusuf Nurkic is an interesting fit I think he can do good things for them he's good you know as a playmaker here and there defensively I worry just a little bit about him of how big it seemed like he took in Portland and you know for all the problems Ayton has at times I wonder if he's more nimble defensively and would work better defensively with that team but we'll see we'll see what happens I think that the Suns absolutely could win it they absolutely have the talent and skill to do it I think they have you know a coach that I really like one of my favorites in league and Vogel but I definitely have some questions about them which is why again would still take Denver head and shoulders above everybody else for now I actually am a little bit surprised the Lakers didn't get more picks here as well in this in the survey I maybe would have liked the Suns more before the Nurkic trade I'm just I'm replaying that Denver series in my head and while Landry Shammet was getting a ton of open threes and theoretically that could be Bradley now I mean I look at them as even worse or you know more poorly equipped to slow down the Nuggets than they were last year and while we're on the subject of health I mean Durant you know he missed some time obviously he came back right before the start of the playoffs and looked great at times and I think bookers only continue to improve but I mean there's a health there's a health question mark hanging over them you know as long as Durant is there and I I need to see it I mean there's definitely some exciting moments just watching kind of Beale Booker and Durant take their turns in that preseason game and it's like oh man like they have three guys who can go just iso and get a score seemingly anytime they want but and I'm I'm warming to the Nurkic move more than when it first happened but I really need to see that defense in action for a little while before I can take them seriously as a title contender yeah I think you guys just articulated why they only got seven percent of the vote there's a lot of question marks out there about them until we see them actually come together and play all right we had Nicole Jokic picked up first place in two different categories and I want to talk about both of them first was the player most likely to win the 2023 -24 MVP he got 43 percent of the vote in that category Yanis at number two at 20 percent and then if you were starting a franchise today and could sign any player who would it be he got 33 percent of the vote in in that category Victor Webayama coming in second with 23 percent on the subject of MVP guys let's start there 43 percent of the vote I'm actually shocked it wasn't higher like I thought it would be like 70 percent because not look first he's 28 years old he's in his prime he's durable he's just won a championship he was you know the best player on the best team in the NBA there's no reason to believe he's not going to come in next year and put up comparable or this year put up comparable numbers and I do think that the people that were divided on Nicole Jokic last year are not going to be divided this year the people that were skeptics about his ability to win and use that against him when it came to MVP voting and use that as a reason to vote for Joel Embiid those people aren't going to exist or that feeling isn't going to exist if Nicole Jokic puts up MVP numbers on the guy on the team that is at or near the top of the western conference there is no doubt in my mind he is going to win MVP he is going to get deservedly I think every benefit of the doubt this year when it comes to MVP votes so whether it's you know Embiid, Giannis, Jason Tatum, Luka Doncic I think Jokic is going to get the benefit of the doubt there Herring I think he's going to be by far and away he is by far and away the front runner to win the MVP.

Baseball, the Blue Jays made it a three game sweep of the braves as Danny Jansen hit a two run single in the bottom of the 9th. It's a good team over there, so I had a feeling it was gonna be, you know, big blows going back and forth throughout the series and stuff. So just kept at it. The braves fourth straight loss combined with the Dodge's 5th straight win gave LA, the NL's best record. Tony Gosselin pitched the first 5 innings of Sunday shutout when over the Padres. Jason Tatum was zero for 6 from three point range before hitting two straight late in the game. The first pudding Boston had 84 83. Malcolm Brogdon provided 6 of Boston's 23 pointers and finished with 23 points, helping the Celtics win despite just 7 points from Jayson Tatum, game three is Friday in Philadelphia. I'm Dave ferry.

"That's a lot of defense. You could say your light on shooting there. And I think you are, but if Frank vocal is in that mindset where he's just saying, look, I'm going to put the guys out there who have size and can defend and do those things, and I'm not going to worry as much about shooting. Maybe that is a lineup that you go to. I think you could also put in Malik monk in place of Reeves. If you do want a little bit more shooting and scoring punch, but I'm really curious just like a lot of you are to see what does Anthony Davis and when you Gabriel look like together because he could Gabriel could be a piece that complements AD pretty well. We won't know until we see it on the floor though. Sometimes things on paper, you would think would be good and they're not really. And we've seen it, we saw the Steve Nash Dwight Howard Lakers back in the day. There have been times where something looks good on paper. And it just doesn't work out. So I'm curious to see what that looks like though. And I think if and when AD comes back, the Lakers should commit some serious time to exploring that. That specific tandem and see what you can get out of it. Because in theory, that can unlock a lot of what Anthony Davis does, and also allow when he Gabriel, to just focus on doing the little things. The dirty work that he's certainly good at. People saying they missed too many shots. You know what? I actually thought the fourth quarter, it was about stops. The fourth quarter of this game, the Lakers had cut the lead to two, and when we were doing our live stream of it, where we did our play by play. We said going into the fourth, it was going to be about stops. You were going to win this game on the defensive end of the floor. And the Lakers just frankly didn't get enough stops in the fourth quarter to get the job done the 76ers. It felt like they were scoring almost every trip down and the Lakers were struggling. We're struggling to get anything going on the offensive end themselves. So that was, I think, an issue for the Lakers. They end up losing the four 33 to 30, which isn't terrible, but you were hoping to hold the 76ers a little bit more than that. The Lakers did put up 39 points in the third and then 30 points in the force. I mean, that's 69 points that they put up, which is nice. In a half. That's pretty impressive by the Lakers in that particular half, a 22 point second quarter looking back is what really hurt them though and stop them from getting this win. Damon blaze said, I was super chat. I don't know why I'm asking, but any update on Kendrick nunn, non unfortunately, I wish I wish we had an update, but as of right now, the only thing with any type of validity that we've heard is that the Lakers were hoping by the end of March, he would be back. Well, here we are. The clock is taken..

"Free throw line you won't take, but I'm not going to worry too much about that. So Russell Westbrook, I thought overall this was a pretty solid performance out of him. Yeah, there were a few rough turn numbers, but you needed bruss to be aggressive tonight. And I felt like the Lakers got that out of him. Carmelo Anthony 20 big points, 7 boards, and then he was 8 to 15 shooting. Two of 6 from three made a couple of buckets in the in the for somebody said Trevor is invincible. I think the word you're looking there for there is invisible, but no, I am not invisible for anybody who's just tuning in. I don't have a strong enough signal to send out video. If I did turn on video right now, everybody would just complain that my video was lagging all I can do right now is send out. I send out audio. So we'll make do with that because again, I'm working off of hotel Wi-Fi here, making sure I still get a show out for you guys, even though I've been here in Las Vegas, been at blue wire studios, if you've seen some of our videos recently, that's where I've been at. I've got some more coming from there. I've been doing that at the win in Las Vegas. So that's where I've been, but I will be back in my normal studio tomorrow. Malik monk, ten or 20 shooting, three of 9 from three. So ten from 20 shooting, but he was three of 9 from behind the arc that hurts a little bit. You were hoping he would get hot from behind the three point line. Three assists two steals 23 points. He at least picked up the scoring with LeBron James out. All right, let me see some of your questions and comments that are coming in. We do need to get, well, there is no 360 awards tonight because only one guy played it. That was Russ. So he wins it by default. Russ was the best of the star level players. And again, I really do think this isn't just kind of a falling backwards into an award for us..

"Of you who are joining us live via YouTube via Facebook, via Twitter, probably noticing, no, there's no video tonight. The reason for that is because I don't have a strong enough signal to send out a video signal right now. I'm actually doing this from my hotel at the moment. So unfortunately, hotel Wi-Fi, not the best. So you guys would all be complaining saying that my video is lagging and all that kind of stuff if I tried to do videos. So no video just audio tonight, but welcome in. Welcome in again. I don't like doing shows this way, but it's what we've got to work with at the moment. Don't worry, I'll be back in studio tomorrow, though. So, appreciate it, everybody, for coming in here. I'm seeing all the comments coming in already from Facebook from Twitter from YouTube and the Lakers. Yeah, they came up short against the 76ers, but I got to say, I'm pretty pleased with what I'm seeing in the chat already. Seeing a lot of people that are that are saying that this game didn't feel that bad, that Russ was fantastic that the Lakers really got really got after it, and they did. They did. Seeing a comment right now on YouTube is a baby GB said said, great effort, turnovers and free throws ultimately cost them. Yeah, I mean, look, this was a fantastic effort by the Lakers. And we can say I wish I wish they had played this way the entire season. We certainly would be in a different position right now in terms of the standings, but you know what, at least they found something. They found some grit. Frank Vogel, he even cut down on his rotation. We saw an 8 man rotation tonight from Frank Vogel, no LeBron James, and I thought the Lakers came out and they played as well as anyone could have thought. You know, I mean, they were expected to lose this game coming in. They were very much the underdog in this game and yet the Lakers fought the entire way through and you can say no, no moral victories and all of that and look, yeah, at this point in the season, you need everyone, but to battle a 76 year team that is hoping to win a championship this season and to force them to really go all out to beat you. When you don't have LeBron, you don't have Anthony Davis. That's a solid performance from this Lakers team. They fall one 26 to one 21..

"Existed until you just said his name. Exactly. Outside of duel embiid, the Philadelphia 76 was like when I forgot he played tonight. I swear. When he said when this short on offense, like when it rains it pours for these guys. Tobias Harris, two for 7 -40. This terrible. Nonexistent. I keep my lips feel on him. When this team is vulnerable, it's something that can really capitalize. And this is yeah. Earlier before Bobby came on. I honestly do think this is a message. I'm not a message in though. We'll take care of you guys with a look out for us, where we'll build something here, type of message. Yuck. I wonder if embiid had PTSD from the they always kick our ass when he used to talk about it. It's not a rivalry. It's not a rivalry. They always kick our ass. I love that. 'cause this was a this was a beating. And I don't care if James Harden or not. I mean, this was a beating. Oh my goodness. Yeah. That's what they had coming in. I mean, the missing curry, right? Out of that group and the drum and second unit, and it's mattered. He actually looked pretty good for Brooklyn and his debut too, by the way. So this is the risk that we've taken here is hard and going to stay stable and healthy here and if not, they cut out their debt big time to get him there. Well, Bobby, how are they going to play though, you know? Are they going to give them the keys? You know, are they going to be like, do your thing? That's what he was reportedly complaining about in Brooklyn. What a dog say about that? Yeah, he was just talking about all the different stuff that they can do with those guys together and how that's like the least of their concerns, but it was a lot of chemistry talk. You know, and he's a very honest guy when he talks about his group and what he's doing here. In fact, he said he doesn't know how to use Paul Millsap and he barely played in this game because of it. But in terms of the two guys there, he was saying, you don't know how they were going to respond to his personality and to the way he's going to do things here. There are ground zero there and he was pretty Frank with that. They don't have a lot of time. There just isn't hit right now. And so guys in the practice, like trying to feel off each other and figure out what they're going to do in terms of each other. This is going to be a boom boom boom process here in terms of figuring out how to play with each other..

"I thought that was an interesting word choice there just in terms of how he's been playing the temperament or the approach to the game, being the key word there. But basically everybody just felt that someone else is going to have to step up there. Then listen a huge concern over it. And honestly, I don't have a ton either. You know, we'll see what the grade is and everything like that. It's an ankle sprain. He'll miss some time here for sure, but it looked really bad when he went down and with the all star break coming up Detroit tomorrow. There's no good time to get hurt, but he'll have a week and some change here to recover from whatever grade of a sprain that was. It wasn't great to see him not being able to put weight on it though. Overall, the email was pretty tight to the vest about it. He said he didn't like the way he was walking when he left the locker room here. It looked bad. That's not good. Did he have crutches or a boot or anything? No word on that. No, I didn't. I mean, yeah, we had somebody there to look. Come on. Watch him leave. Damn, Jimmy. Damn, Jimmy. That's right. Now it'll trickle out. We'll find out soon enough it's all good. Yeah, I mean, they'll be back in Boston. The worst ones are the ones that those are those are awful when you step on somebody else's foot. Those are so good. It looked very painful. God, so, you know, again, you'll see, I mean, you know, what's the point of playing doctor two weeks three weeks four weeks? You're hoping it's not you're hoping it's not 6 weeks and then lingering, you know? So like anything, anything within a couple of weeks, you feel pretty good that you got away with one. Yeah, I was talking like it's a good thing it wasn't the calf strain we saw last year. That's what I thought. I thought he was holding his calf. I thought he was probably thinking he's probably thinking about that. That's why. And the calf strain was like a tear. You know, like it was like bad. Well, listen, guys, I mean, again, not to be all doctor, but when you roll your ankle, you do pull multiple ligaments in that leg. Calf could still have been the calf good call. It's almost like the knee bone in the hip bone. Here we go. What the hell are we doing? It's not the injury. It's just the momentum slammed the brakes. Whether you lose it for X amount of time or it takes a while to get back into it. It just was, that's why it's bad timing. And the fact that they're so thin. You lose one other person for even a teeny bit of time and you're in a weird place with this team. So it was interesting though, because I thought the rush was going to come right after that in the second half. I think it was just under 30 point lead coming in in the second half, but grant and I'll let those threes and it was off to the races from there. The Philly just never made a push, even though smart wasn't in there. They got minutes against nee Smith and Pritchard..

"One, I've been hurt before, so I'm not completely, I'm not completely sold yet because I've seen this happen in the past. So I'm cautiously optimistic about what I've seen too. Jimmy's looking like Charlie Brown and Lucy. He's like, I'm not falling for that. Exactly, I'm kicking his football. Two. Could the NBA all star break we have any in a worse time for the Celtics? I mean, talk about a team that's been clicking. Not giving the Marcus injury, but yeah. Yeah, the markets injury aside, sure. I just mean like they have so much going in the right direction right now. I hate for them to take like a week, you know, I'm not saying I'm not worried that they're gonna go off and party or we should understand they have all this momentum that you kind of want to just keep playing games. Well, I mean, I'm not as bothered by that only because I'm looking at the teams that they're gonna be playing out the gate. You open up with Brooklyn, which I've broken, which is great because no Kyrie. When you play a Detroit team that you should be Indiana is not very good. Atlanta struggle. I mean, Memphis is pretty much the first real legitimate challenger. You're going to face alpha break. And you've got three tuna three or four tuna games before you get there. So I'm not worried about them coming out the break 'cause I think again, as I mentioned earlier, they're playing teams that they should be able to be. Regardless of where they are. Regardless of whether you have Martha smart available or not. I think they're in good shape. Okay. Okay. Okay. He thinks he's a good shape. We're gonna wait on Bobby to pop in here too. He's doing some postgame stuff and we'll go once around the horn again. Who have we not talked about tonight? Obviously, people got to see their Hauser minutes. You know, look, you don't know how he would hold up against actual NBA players having to play defense and critical moments. The dude can shoot, though, man, and it's so free and easy. Again, we've talked about finding ways to hide Hauser minutes, you know, put them in lineups where the defense isn't going to be so noticeable. Other teams do this. There are players in the league who just shoot and aren't great defensively and you just find ways to get them in there. You would like to see, you know, again, it just it stinks to know that that's there on the bench and to not break glass in case of emergency because they have shooting emergencies a lot, you know? They don't need it now because they're just winning with defense and whatever level of offense and level of shooting that they're getting. But I'd still like to see a way to work him in there a little bit. And again, I think you've got enough good defensive players you can hide. You can hide him in some lineups..

"And he set the tone for them offensively before everything else kind of started happening for the Celtics. And, you know, everyone started knocking down threes in that, but Jalen was huge early. In this game. And like I said, super important in a game where Tatum's gonna, you know, and Tatum did get it going eventually, but you know, it was a little tough scaling in there. He picked up the slack though. Yeah. So, I mean, that was great and then I mean, look, man, you know, we do the make miss league thing all the time. You knock down this many threes. Right. I think what we need to do is examine this closely and figure out what's the recipe that has to happen again. I mean, obviously, you know, record breaking shooting isn't going to happen every single time, but more consistent approach to how they're able to knock down so many threes would be huge for this team moving forward. I mean, obviously, I don't think they're gonna crack the top ten and shooting, but the fact that they're the best offensive team right now. When they're able to light it up the way they did tonight, obviously, I mean, who in the east is really gonna stop this team when they had that much momentum. Right. And that was just too. It's like 32 37, 32 34. They never took their foot off the gas offensively. They won every single quarter, including the fourth quarter, which was basically straight G league, you know, main, you know, start to finish there. And they still won that. They still won that quarter. Handily. Yeah. Peace just way. So Jalen's are Jalen Brown phenomenal player of the game award winners. The brownie. He gets the brownie. So we actually, that's a little inception because we incorporated that award in the show so that we would always talk about him in some ways shape or form, but tonight he actually won it. So, you know, that's something that we'll have to keep tabs on. I have to have Nick. It's almost instead of the Tommy awards to brownie award. The brownie award. He played the jailed jaylen Brown, we're not gonna talk about it award, right? We're not talking about it anymore. But Dana came up huge.

"With a turnaround. This turnaround can be gone. John called him a wagon. Screen grab that tweet. I want it on record that John called them a wagon. A freaking wagon. Dude, at that point, I mean, I mean, it was that way all game. But in that third quarter, holy, wow, they just put their lights out. I mean, it was bad early, but you figured puncher's chance Philly had come in, hit some buckets, smart had just gone down and no, man, oh my goodness, gracious. So I don't know where you guys want to go. The wind is so impressive. I wish we could dedicate all of our time to like, you know, we keep talking about statement win statement win. Okay, fine, they don't have harden, but you play tonight's game without rob. And you just put the screws to them. And then Marcus goes out in the first half and you just extend your lead. And it's not even funny. They had a little blip there, Philly goes on a 7 O run, and then they just put it, you know, put their foot on the gas gone. But it's all great as long as Marcus comes back and he's not out for a really long time, but it's just hard not to like worry and wonder, because what the trade deadline did for you is it made you extremely freaking thin. And obviously like any core player extended absence would be bad. So where do you guys want to start? You want to start with the gamer you want to fret about Marcus a little bit? No, I want to start with the game. Go with the game. We got to spend a lot of time on this game. Yeah, man. It really annihilated this team, man. We got to give them more than what two minutes. Gosh, not what we wanted to see out of this one, got bad news during the day today that LeBron James would be out of action for this game. Well, first we get the update that he was questionable and then Frank Vogel told us right before the game that, indeed, LeBron would be out. And so without LeBron James, the Lakers do fall Anthony Davis, nice performance, but we've got a lot of things to dive into and I see already a lot of stuff coming up here in our chat. Joining me tonight is Mark gut from Lakers nation dot com. Mark, thanks for coming on. How are you doing? Hey, I'm doing pretty good besides that game. But everything else is good. Besides the one thing that we're here to talk about, you're doing. Besides that one thing, man, this was certainly not a great, you know, we're gonna get into the specifics, but this really felt like a game where we've seen out of LeBron two, Anthony Davis was fantastic in this game. He was incredible. We've seen games where LeBron is incredible and they wind up like Will Smith and the empty room. There's nothing else around there kind of looking around going what's happening here. They weren't getting any support, Anthony Davis certainly not getting support in this game. For the rest of the team, guys could not hit shots in this one. And that was certainly frustrating to watch. I'm sure I can see it our chat. A lot of fans are frustrated that nobody seemed to be able to score. None of the other guys really stepped up to make up for LeBron being out. Yeah, I mean, look at the bitch points. They only had 21 bitch points today. And then outside of Westbrook, nobody else scored in double figures besides Westbrook and AD, obviously. So yeah, very tough night long shot 40% from the field. And then look at the three point percentage. That was really the big disparity in the game for me. My Lakers were 6 for 29 in the 60s I'm sorry. They were 13 or 35. So I mean, they weren't even that great from three either. They shot 37%, but I mean, if you shoot 20% from three, and you're getting up 29 of them, that's pretty bad. Absolutely. Absolutely. And then you look at the Lakers turnover, 17 turnovers in this game was pretty high now. I will say Philadelphia's defense was pretty good. They've got some light out there, they've got guys that were flying all over the floor. I thought their rotations were nice. Defensively, the Philadelphia 76ers look good, but part of that too was the Lakers not doing things to take advantage of opportunities that they were getting at them when they did get looks just not knocking down shots. So we're going to start breaking down some of the stats here and everything from the game. But I wanted to get into a couple of super chats before we get into the exact stat breakdown here. Let me see. I've got one right here. Matty James said, why was THT even in the game tonight? Every time he subbed off monk, Reeves or Bradley, the lineup just got worse with THT on the floor, bench him..

Unless you're going in full rebuild mode, which obviously wasn't the case with itself. Guys, guys, guys, we're not thinking about this. The way people were thinking about it then. No, they're not. Not just in case. I get it, but we didn't know what the selfie. The entire NBA was like Charlotte gave him what? What a terrible deal. Like, it was the not a personal life thought that was a good idea to pay that man that much money. And everybody here was thrilled to get Kemba and not Rozier. So again, you can't go back and say, was it a question? But would you have gone up to the one 30 for warfarin? I know people weren't throwing the ball. No, it was Kyrie versus Kemba. Everyone needs to kill. Everyone needs to relax, okay? We're all gonna go back. It was Kyrie. You lost Kyrie and you got Kevin. That's what everybody was at that point pissed at Kyrie and they were happy to have Kemba because Kemba wanted to come to Boston. Yukon guy, and he's cardiac canva. Now, it didn't work out. Obviously, hindsight is 2020. If you go back in time, you'd keep rows there. You never signed canva and you'd keep horror in Horford probably wouldn't leave. I'm sure Horford would stay in Boston too. If he could go back in time. So we can keep playing this game, but it is what it is. It is what it is, and that's it. There's no reason to talk about any further. I don't even know what the hell we're talking about. It wasn't going to hate going back. Look at that one. Would you have paid the one theory to keep them? Because guess what? Now he's back on that contract. So that was the key decision. You knew how important Horford was this team back then? Obviously, I think people looked at that price too and were like, oh, that much for Horford, but sometimes you overpay to keep something good here and they lost too much. They lost rose. Yeah, I think we can all agree that knowing what we know now, they should have paid Horford the extra, whatever it was, 15 million or whatever he got that you didn't originally get in Boston. You win, Bobby. You can wait past the Jersey on when you get home. Wait until we get into, by the way, wait till eventually we start talking TPE and Bobby blows your mind with his with his proposal to use the Bobby TPE. He used the 48 for it to use the fournier TPE on fournier. It was an idea that we put on the drawing board today. Once you dove into the cap though, it's not possible, but when I thought of that one, I was like, wow, that's a good position..

"It's good. They took them away from the Celtics here, but to hear you may talk about that experience. The way they misused him as he said in the preseason, or if it I think called it challenging when he returned here to Boston and I know it's just bits and pieces of kind of shade cast on that experience, but Richardson was complaining about the locker room and just some of the interactions there. Like we talk about how weird things have been around the Celtics over the last couple of years. Billy's had its fair share of wackiness on the inside too. And Richardson Horford were two guys who didn't have a great experience there. And you know, I guess if it's all expand, people follow in Boston. Soon we have a better time here despite all the crap that comes up here too inside the team. So there is a great return to that in 2020. You would have been able to sign rosea. It is interesting to think about where they'd be right now if they just brought back their share that year. We've done segments on that. We had debates about that and it was kind of contentious at the time and now looking back on it seeing what happened with Kemba this week in the last year or so here. There's really no question like the best team possible would have been roger from the back up to 2019. I guess it just feels totally. Everyone has to remember Terry Rozier shot 27% that year. I know how good he is now. I know, but that's the point. Nobody would have seen what you saw from Rozier. He looked unplayable. He was he was the worst playable? No. Rosea and his bag from the horn, it's still here in his last year in Boston was the worst player on that team. He was awful. Don't make me watch. You couldn't wait to get him out. He was awful. And the style that he played and that he was one of those guys who wanted the ball more and hell I think, yeah, so that's the thing. He was thinking he would clash a little bit more with Tatum and Brown and smart than he would have if he was able to he was kind of allowed to do more of what he wanted to do in Charlotte. So I think it's kind of hard to compare Charlotte Rozier to Boston her because he would have had a completely different role here. He probably would have been unhappy to start her here. But he would have been started but he would have been like the distant third wheel starter based on everyone's inclination on how jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum were eventually going to be. Now, whether that's right or wrong is remains to be seen..

"No. I couldn't really hear us earlier. People are asking for a live show during the game. We might do that if the games start to merit. What do you have? What do you have for a takeaway, John? Other than rob's final play of the game from this. I mean, is it just another offensively channel? Would you say the defense kind of did this thing? I don't know how much of that you want to credit and be to rust, COVID, but I mean, he was off all night. I thought Al played Al once again. Show that he's in beats, daddy out there. I thought. So that was takeaway number one. It's hard to watch this game and like the national headline of this game is gonna be embiid shooting performance and the fact that the Celtics either shut him down or he had an awful game depending on which spin you want to put on it. It's really hard if you're the Celtics, especially after the rob Williams experience defending Joel embiid last year where that was like the game that broke rob, right? He was everything was going great. Then he went in there and he filed 7 times in like three minutes. He was like, I'm actually not good. I'm not good. And then he went into the tank. Everybody told me I was good. Every time, let's wash the guard report, and that guy John kept talking about me. Yeah. Oh no, this is what a good player looks like. Really? And he went in the tank for a little bit and, you know, that was like, and then everyone's like, oh, crap, you know, like we still can't use them again. Yeah. And so what happens when he was seeing ghosts after that? You bring back the frigging embiid stopper, you know, which was, you know, Al Al's, you know, during the reincarnation, I'm calling this a reincarnation of when the Celtics were dominating the sixers for those couple of years there. It was Al. It was Al, who was doing it. I got a thumbs up from Bobby, so we're gonna roll the dice here that he's got a thumbs up for both these guys..

"He got some really good looks in the first half that he missed so that was kind of fortunate for the sixers but he was aggressive in that third quarter and took the ball of the rim. Really well which was impressive but one thing six did do a good job of limiting his threes. I think he only had maybe one or two threes the whole game. That's that's huge because giving up layoffs Contested layups is one thing but giving up three. After three bradley beal is gonna really hurt on the scoreboard. So i thought that was good. And i think that's not going to be easy to key bob So that's a big challenge. And like i kind of mentioned before simmons. It seems like it's just going to match up with westbrook and try to take him out of the game. And i thought he did a good job of that yesterday i think ruskin get some crazy baskets around the rim in the paint stuff like that Condition a little bit. But if ben can really limit his offensive production So he know fifteen points. This was a struggle one. So i think it starts with those two guys. Davis bertans was solid. He came off a couple of screens and hit some threes. He's such a liability elsewhere on the court that he doesn't concern me too too much. I think the key is don't let westbrook in beal combined for fifty sixty seventy points because of that happens. This wizard team can put up one. Twenty one thirty one forty and they've shown ability to do that this year but also surrender those points so i think holding those two guys in somewhat checked. It is the key and forcing those guys into turnovers as well. Westbrook and bill both had six Yesterday i think that's that's really huge. So the other thing is what we're going to be both played forty plus minutes yesterday so keep grinding them down. Keep making them raw. And that's going to wear them out and as we've seen brad beal is already dealing with a bit of a nagging injury. Continue that and the sixers. She'll be all right. Yeah i agree. I think this i think that first game actually you might have been most competitive game that we might see a lot of times. The team or the opposing team comes in a feisty. They're trying to play very aggressive and test. The sixers but i think after the sixers are gonna plan if not. I think it's going to be. I think they're going to win. In five games at the sixers. Would you take on that. Yeah i think five is Five is safe. bet. I definitely think five is safe. Bet i think they come out and game two and blow them out because you know. The sixers played in seven or eight or nine days. Maybe in the wizards obviously chemo the plan tournaments. They're little of brusher. And i think you saw that in sixers. Three point shooting the first half there were a lot of shots short. A lot of people's likes the little..

"Series two years ago or the raptor series two years ago so so fun to get that atmosphere back in philly. Yeah i'm sure. And i think i think philly especially is a is a team and a place. That has a serious homecourt advantage Compared to like other other cities that might not be as not having passionate fans we can say so. I think especially places like philly that home homecourt advantage is even more crucial with that energy in wells fargo. So that's must have been really cool experience so starting with the sixers. Who would you say played. I know tobias harris scored twenty points in the first half Not expected at all. Would you say he was probably the best place for the sixers and that game or would you say another player. Yeah i think it was definitely harris. I watching that first quarter. Sixers fans definitely got nervous with joel embiid getting disemboweled trouble right and we can argue about whether those worse and software calls but generally all game the reps were calling it a little softer which is is what it is and so once embiid went out. I was really looking for who was going to take over on the offensive end and it was certainly tobias harris. I think the wizards switched a lot of screens and it got spies harrison. Some really good mismatches that he really took advantage of. Obviously the wizards are not a team with great frontcourt depth westbrook and deal on the back court. That's kind of their strong suit and so alex. Len davis bertans robin lopez. Those guys aren't antastic rim. Protector harris was able to get downhill. Find his spots and really honest those those guys in fish over them really impressively so that was huge. And then ben simmons i think was kind of the jack knife that he is On both ends of the floor he was a plus eighteen in the box. Score fifteen assists fifteen rebounds. I think only four other players have ever done that in a playoff game. Fifteen rebounds fifteen assists that. I was something interesting That i found but he really was fantastic. Especially at the defensive end They started him on westbrook. Any gortat westberg. Most of the game. They kind of tuned. Danny green and matisse stibal on bradley beal but i thought he really shutdown westbrook westbrook was seven seventeen. He had six turnovers. He was frustrated all game. He was talking to the reps after every time out. It seemed like exhausting exhausting. The refs so i thought simmons was huge. And then joel really brought it home. Ten or twelve. Fourth quarter points Hit a few of his patented mid range back type Type of shots. And that's what you want at your star player so those three guys were really impressive. Obviously go thank you and so those were some guys who played really well who would you say underperformed in this game for the sixers. I think moving forward. The bench is going to be the biggest question for the sixers. I thought they got really subpar. Bench play Basically all day especially in the first quarter and second quarter Really needed it with beat on the bench. So i think that's going to be the question moving forward you gotta love with. White howard brings in terms of energy and in terms of activity. He hits the glass really hard you know he can be erratic at times commit some bad fouls so thought he was good at in stretches. I didn't think it was one of thighbone best games. He always has good impact on the defensive end. Not as physical is maybe a ben. Simmons would be a matching with bradley beal. So you'll kind of got in the pain a little bit on him and then shake milton..

"Hello welcome to gen z. Seventy sixers. i'm christie. Ambrosi your host and we'll be going over the latest stats breakdowns. Recaps and drama for the philadelphia. Seventy sixers get ready for episode. Four where we'll be joined by a seventy sixers expert justin hershey. Who was actually at the first game of the seventy sixers wizards playoff matchup. And he will be giving us a first hand perspective on the series. If you want to become a true expert on the philadelphia seventy sixers and you came to the right place. Today's a great day for a cheese steak 'n philly basketball So as i mentioned today we are joined by a close friend of mine just in her. She was the captain of the episcopal academy basketball team extremely reputable team that has had. Nba players. gerald henderson and wayne ellington on and great player himself just in has a greater appreciation for nuances and details. That go into basketball. And as i mentioned He knows everything about the seventy sixers every player stat cetera. And right now. Justin is a rising senior at vanderbilt. Some podcasting himself so thanks for being unjust in. Maybe you can start by just talking a little bit about your podcasting at vanderbilt to. Yeah thanks so much for having me chris. Great to talk sixers especially after goodwin yesterday as you mentioned yes i'm a rising senior. Can't believe it at vanderbilt already. I'm actually the sports editor for the vanderbilt hustler. Our school newspaper down there. So you a fair amount of covering the vanderbilt commodores which can be can come with some some hardship. Not not the best in some of those main sports. But it's coming down the stretch in baseball season here so we'll be covering a lot of baseball If any vanderbilt fans are listening the idea that podcast for for the vanderbilt hustler. Sports thirty podcasts. So really looking forward to talking some sixers ball today. Yeah that's awesome cool so let's get started so you're at. You're at the first game of the seventy sixers wizards playoff game. So what was it like to be back at alive. Mba game especially during the playoffs. Yeah it was incredible really lucky to be there yesterday. I think i had two million realizations. When i took my seat before the game yesterday and i think the first one was while i haven't been around ten or eleven thousand people since december twenty nineteen probably the last game. I went to A couple of years ago and my second realization was while joel embiid is still seven two because it just strikes me every time i see him helping that it is. He is a monster and obviously watching on tv this year. I've kind of noticed. He slimmed down. But it's evident when you see in a person's well he's in really good shape on obviously really showed that yesterday. And i think only about eleven in the stadium i believe yesterday and i think they're going to go to one hundred percent in about two three weeks but it felt like way more and i think players would agree it was it was rocking down there and the fantastic atmosphere. I'd say down the stretch in the third quarter to six hundred really good run some really good defense and they really went on a good run and went up seven on a big. Seth curry three late in that quarter and crowd just erupted. It was just like..

"A game. They're so you're looking for a silver lining. There's a decent one. Oscar Ortiz said is Gasol useful in every game? No, that's why you see his minutes get cut in some games some games. He doesn't play very much. We've seen that happen quite a bit tonight was a night where you really needed him to play and play. Well thought he was just okay, but no gazala's also same idea. Gasol's not useful in every game just like Montrezl Harrell is not useful against every match up if you put him up against some of the better taller Biggs and may be a while. You're going to have some problems. Finding guys who can do everything be seven feet tall defended the post block shots at The Rim defend on the perimeter scorer. It's finding these guys not home. It's not that means why Anthony Davis is so rare to my Joell embiid is so rare. But that's why you kind of need different skill-sets. You need different guys for different situations. All right guys, one more then we're going to call it an evening here. one more Someone mentioning that the Jazz are now yeah that did actually happen. So the Utah Jazz are now number one in the western conference with that Lakers lost the Jazzy a nine-game win streak. They've been playing very very well. So the Lakers right now are the two and the clippers for the time being are the three the Clippers are 13 and 5. The Lakers are 14 and 5 and the Jazz are thirteen and four again. It's super long based on point differential. The Lakers are still the best team in the Western Conference, which sometimes can really tell you about overall talent, but the Jazz has been playing very very good basketball. And so right now on the standings they are off the number one team in the west or the moment. I've got lots of one year and although La Le Monde said did you see the play where schreuder was wide open underneath the basket and kicked the ball out to LBJ sure doesn't like taking a lot of those jobs at The Rim where he's really under the basket and he doesn't have a running start to shoot that floater cuz he's like six 1 if we're me and generous and so that doesn't really work. A lot of times it guy will fly in a block that song and so that's why he doesn't take that. That's why he'd rather kicked up all out suck the defense in and then kick it out. That's why you're seeing him do that. I know it looks weird sometimes and sometimes you think oh he had time to get that off the backboard, but for the most part, he's probably making the smart play because it would be pretty easy for a guy to come flying in and block that shot. All right, everybody appreciate all of you joining me tonight. We will do this again tomorrow night the Lakers taken on the Detroit Pistons. Hopefully, they'll bounce back and get a win on the road in Detroit, but appreciate you all joining me here tonight coming in from Facebook from YouTube from Periscope good questions tonight again, tough loss Lakers dropping by one point to the 76ers almost looked like they were going to win it at the very end and then Tobias Harris hits that shot to beat La wage a few seconds left on the clock. But again, thank you guys for joining us. Make sure you do head over to the flake app. You can find the link in the description over here on the Lakers Nation YouTube channel you come join us there. "Game came to an end. I do want to talk about the Philadelphia 76ers getting in transition. That was something that concerned but you know, the Lakers and Sixers are in some ways similar teams in that job. All teams like to get stops on defense on defense, which of course everybody does but are particularly good getting stops in the half-court defense and then getting out and running the Lakers have been devastating when they do get out and run down to a very well tonight the seventy-sixers at 21 fast-break points. The Lakers had Thirteen the Sixers were doing good job running off of Lakers. Mrs. We saw a couple of times about one play in particular. So by his hairs got kuzma one-on-one and transition kuzma thought Harris was going to pull the ball back out and he didn't and scored on him easily. That's something where I'd like to see the Lakers have a little bit more urgency on both sides off in getting out and running themselves and getting points in transition when they get stopped teams are hustling back against them and that's a credit to the Sixers. They did everything they could to make sure they got back and didn't give the Lakers those opportunities, but I think we also need the Lakers to do a better job getting back defensively. There wasn't a lot of attention to detail there. So that's something where if Frank Vogel is in the they're looking at film tonight before the game against the law. Just tomorrow, that's something I think that it's going to jump off the screen to coach Vogel if it's not something that he's already upset about right now. I think it's a situation where the Lakers just need to get a little bit more than a sense of urgency and getting back and not allowing teams too fast break against them. All right, let's do it guys. Let's do the third man of the night award. Here we go. All.
