A highlight from PEPE Coin Is Back! New All-Time Highs Incoming?
"Pepe is once again one of the strongest performers in the market, rising over 82 .43 % over the past week. So what does this mean for the crypto market and is Pepe officially back? Should you long? Let's talk about Pepe in today's video because something is definitely happening here and I think there's actually a really interesting trade around Pepe and the meme coins at the moment that I want to get into. But firstly let's talk about actually how Pepe rose to prominence. We know that it was essentially just this random meme coin that seemingly came out of nowhere and took the internet and of course the crypto world by storm when it launched. I mean just look at its website it's a pretty janky looking website not so professional but they had the power of community behind them and they became quickly a fan favorite on twitter which resulted in the price of Pepe absolutely skyrocketing capitalizing at a 1 .5 billion dollar valuation. This made it the third most valuable meme coin in all of crypto after Doge and Shiba for a brief period of time. This made early buyers extremely rich. In front of you you can see the top 10 biggest profitors from the Pepe trade with the number one place making 14 million, number two making 14, 14, 11, 4, 3, 3, 4 people made absolutely crazy money on Pepe and it wasn't just the team and the insiders and these sort of people that made money off Pepe it was your normies as well. I mean even myself if you remember back into the earlier of the year Pepe was actually my best trade of the entire year. Hustle as well called a 10x on Pepe and did really well. Even David from the trading competition actually shorted Pepe and made a bunch of money there and actually ended up winning the Bybit trading competition a 100k prize. So there was definitely a lot of trading opportunities around it and it made a lot of people rich at the time and it was one of the most explosive and powerful trades of the year. But ever since then things have just seemed to be getting worse and worse for Pepe. Things really took a turn on the 25th of August where we saw some weird movement in terms of the changes to the Pepe multisig. You can see this user here pointing out that the Pepe multisig wallet changed the threshold to make transactions to just two out of eight signatures which was of course a red flag and then the Pepe coin official twitter came out and said that they were actually experiencing internal conflict and essentially some of the team members were being led by big egos and greed and they had to get rid of them and make a bunch of changes in the process. So this obviously resulted in the token absolutely crashing in price and things were made a lot worse by just a couple weeks later their official telegram being hacked. So it seemed like things were just getting worse and worse and worse for Pepe and as you can see the chart did not respond well. From its retest of the range high it dropped over 56 % so despite it being one of the best performing coins at the time and actually relative strength wise versus bitcoin and a lot of the other altcoins it took an absolute nosedive and smashed through its lower support band. So that's the recap but what is happening now? Well of course bitcoin is absolutely pumping and there's more interest on the crypto market at the moment. Now meme coins in general are generally your crypto retail pulse that indicate retail's proclivity to investing crypto and interest in crypto and although I don't think retail's fully come back to crypto I do think that it's some sort of measure that the market is coming back to crypto. So that's one thing to observe but bitcoin of course performing super strongly is still leading most of the altcoins. So although there are some outliers like Pepe as you can see here that are performing really well bitcoin is still overall leading the altcoin market as you would expect at this stage in the crypto cycle. But there's a reason why Pepe is leading it's because of a couple really powerful announcements that have started to garner hype back in the crypto community. So of course Pepe is some sort of retail pulse for crypto when retail comes back they like to speculate they buy things like Doge, Pepe you know all your favorite meme coins but it's not just that being the reason why Pepe is rising in price it's the fact that there's been a couple major announcements. The first one happened on the 24th of October which was three days ago where the team announced that seven trillion Pepe were burnt which is around six million dollars worth and they also announced that they brought on a new team of advisors to guide Pepe forward uses for the remaining 3 .79 trillion tokens attributed to the original team for strategic partnerships and marketing opportunities are currently being explored. Then it was revealed that 169 billion Pepe from the team worth 200k was converted to USDT and is being transferred to cover the cost of strategic partnerships and integrations that we look forward to announcing in the coming weeks. So pretty much this original wallet that held a lot of the Pepe which was one of the reasons why people were becoming extremely skeptical of the project is essentially being sold off slowly or burnt in order to benefit the project. I think the burn was a leap of good faith at least in terms of extending an olive branch to the community after some of the hardship that they have experienced this year which no doubt took a knock on the fundamentals of Pepe and I think this announcement just goes to show the power of announcements at the moment given the fact that bitcoin is now starting to exhibit more positive price momentum. Typically when you get positive price momentum in crypto this tends to lift all ships in terms of projects starting to become a bit more comfortable with making major announcements that they may have been delaying due to market conditions. So as market conditions improve typically you see more announcements the projects that have good announcements clearly can create a positive effect for the token price as you can get some hype back into the narrative and this is something that Pepe is clearly doing right now but it's also logic that you can apply to many other projects in crypto to try and time these announcement pumps or at least trade around major announcements going to be lots of opportunities I think especially if bitcoin holds up over the next few months to trade altcoin news and altcoin announcements. So what's happening with Pepe now in terms of price and where do I think it's going next? Well firstly the fact that they are willing to be strategic with their treasury here and the fact that they're also willing to come out with major announcements I think is a bullish thing for the token no doubt justifies to some extent why the token is pumped in price and I would actually be interested here if bitcoin holds up to maybe take some long positions on major pullbacks I never think it's wise aping into a major pump like this especially when you're in the mid range of a trend and Pepe has really clearly defined trends that it tends to stick to but if you get any major pullbacks into key zones and you could mark out this 110651 level here as a key zone in the mid range and then your next key zone for me is actually the range low at 84. If you do get consolidation around these zones or you see the price starting to reverse I don't think it actually is a bad play considering there's some hype coming back if bitcoin holds in price big caveat on the if because of course you don't want to buy into the hype and then bitcoin sells off and then you're stuck with a Pepe bag which ends up retracing. I also think there are a few bag holders that are underwater and are probably going to start taking profit in this zone so I don't think you're going to miss out on the trade if you don't long today but I do think it's an interesting one with some of the hype coming back the announcements for Pepe I'm certainly not shorting this I'd more be leaning towards the long side of course not financial advice do your own research of course but for me that's where I'm leaning and actually for Pepe this demonstrated a really important thing one of the doubts and skepticism that I had over the past couple months was the fact that a lot of the FUD impacted the project what would the community then think of Pepe because it's all community driven right the entire project is based on sentiment it's a meme coin if sentiment turns for a meme coin then it becomes not sustainable as a trade and it can end up dying off we've seen a lot of meme coins come and a lot of meme coins go due to FUD and due to the narrative just dying off and of course this runs the risk of happening with Pepe considering the FUD that it's experienced but the fact that it's responded so well to positive news and positive announcements being teased actually gives me a positive sign that maybe the market is still respecting Pepe as a genuine meme coin alongside other meme coins like Doge and I had a thesis back earlier in the year that Pepe could actually outperform Doge next cycle this was back in June 2023 and the logic I used was Pepe has less underwater bag holders people are a bit fatigued by the Doge meme there's more of a discrepancy in market caps so thinner liquidity so it's easy to pump the token price a few good reasons but over the past few months I was reconsidering that stance because I have started to acknowledge that Doge has a really strong narrative behind it the Elon factor it has more staying power retail knows Doge more so when retail is getting back into crypto they tend to know what Doge is whereas Pepe is more of like an on -chain thing that was born this year amongst the crypto degens right so I've come around on this thesis to a relatively neutral territory but I've kind of come to the conclusion that both I think can become bonafide plays Pepe front runs Doge because it's more of a crypto community play whereas Doge is probably better for your general retail entry into crypto which you haven't really seen yet I know at the start of the video I said retail is coming back into crypto but that's happening in very small amounts and that that kind of retail is the retail that was already in crypto to some extent the retail that I'm talking about with Dogecoin that could come in later next cycle those participants maybe haven't ever used crypto before or only dabbled with crypto during the bull run so I think Doge appeals more to those guys so now just an update on this thesis I kind of sit in the middle here I think Pepe is over the past few days at least exhibiting that it is willing to respond which is obviously a great sign for the fundamentals of Pepe and the burn has gone a long way to justifying this repricing because obviously there are less tokens in supply now but I think that's also gotten some hype back for the token which is great because meme coins are built on community and meme coins are built on hype but I also certainly respect the Doge trade and that's why I'm saying I'm sitting more neutral in this trade now because I just think Doge as a DCA spot hold is not a terrible bet to be honest going to next cycle so that's my opinion on Doge so in terms of trading Pepe now I did mark out some of the key levels before but I just want to acknowledge once again how well Pepe has kept structure I mean pretty much bounced perfectly of this level at the 147 zone had nice bounces had a pretty clean rejection retest rejected again tagged range this low and has actually reclaimed and also tagged on the way up in the form of a retest so pretty much Pepe gives perfect retest I don't know what it is but for some reason this obeys market structure really well and it becomes really easy to trade around these key range high and range low levels if you want to take the technical peak of Pepe then this becomes mid -range and this becomes range high but in the lower time frame so the one hour and the four hour these become your range low and mid -range but it's mainly just semantics easier three zones that you want to take major trades off both to the short side and the long side for me right now though as I mentioned before leaning more towards the long side in terms of Pepe as a long -term bet I actually don't mind it it's a risky one it's a speculative one I fully acknowledge that Doge is the safer play it's hiring market cap retail knows it Pepe has some inherent risk given the fact that it went through what it went through with the internal team conflict that's never a good sign for a project so clearly some red flags but due to the market cap being a lot less we know what happens when it pumps it pumps harder and this was very clear on on the first week that it launched what it ended up doing in terms of price so that's something to keep in mind in terms of the fundamentals in terms of centralized exchange data a few interesting data points to look at here you can see Pepe volume been spiking over the past few days if you look on the monthly chart we've seen a lot of interest coming back as well open interest for Pepe also starting to peak here at a hundred million dollars which is quite a lot I mean for recent times but I don't think Pepe's hit that since inception really since it first launched on exchanges so open interest starting to come back meaning people are starting to trade it more obviously that involves some leverage as well more liquidations which involves more general trading activity so the metrics are starting to doge but I actually want to look at how it could potentially affect the crypto market this isn't necessarily some insightful observation but I mean it gives you a little bit of a look into what happened last time Pepe obviously pumped during May it hit its peak roughly on May 5th you can actually see when Pepe started to peak Bitcoin started to actually have its huge sell -off and I don't know if you remember back in May but all the on -chain alts started to tank after Pepe started tanking so it's interesting that Pepe actually marked the local top back then a lot of the time market tops in the short term are indicated by crazy meme coin blow -off tops and although Pepe isn't indicating that it's had a blow -off top yet it's something to keep note of given the fact that Bitcoin dipped last time it's not an indicator I would get super bearish off the back of but it is just something to note definitely watch Bitcoin here and when Pepe starts pumping you definitely have to take note but it's also a sign that some of those guys that were on the sidelines those retail guys are getting interested again but one plausible explanation for the pump is not just that it's the fact that they had a major burn which obviously impacts price because when you cut off a large amount of the supply it's got a reprice to the upside although it still wasn't a burn that was in it was six million dollars it's not in line with the market cap of Pepe which is currently sitting at what is it 500 million dollars substantially more right so that's something to look at as well something that I've been doing in terms of trading on all -chain altcoins but also a coin like Pepe which is on a lot of the DEXs and not on all centralized exchanges is using an application like Kyber AI to actually get data based on the bullishness or bearishness of the coin using on -chain analytics so if you haven't tried this out there's a link in the description below to Kyber AI you'll actually be able to see when Pepe shifts from bullish to bearish or bearish to bullish territory which can help you get for confluence your trade entries alongside TA so if you haven't already link in the description below to Kyber AI it's completely free search up the Pepe token and you'll be able to get a lot of really interesting data that's AI generated from Kyberswap's machine learning algorithm to get information on the on -chain data price analysis of Pepe and one more reminder before I go if you want to win half a bitcoin all you need to do is go onto Bantle Bubbles which is an amazing application and enter in your UID your price prediction for bitcoin on January 1st and the closest person will win half a bitcoin all you need to do is have a Banta account to Bybit or Bitgett or Coindw there's a link in the description below to Bybit or Bitgett if you want to sign up claim those bonuses you'll need to enter your UID once you enter your UID you can put in your price prediction and you can submit your prediction and if you're closest you win half a bitcoin you can see most people here guessing that bitcoin is going to be bullish by the time January 1st rolls around you can see a lot of green predictions here so enter your prediction do you think bitcoin is going to be hitting some of these targets like 52k like some of these people are suggesting super interesting stuff I'm going to leave a link in the description below to Banta Bubbles and the links you'll need to sign up if you don't have one of those exchange accounts already as well as of course Kyber AI as well are you bullish on Pepe long term let me know in the comments below and I'll see you in the next one.

A highlight from Fireblocks Discloses UniPass Vulnerability
"Welcome to your Ethereum news roundup, here's your latest for Thursday, October 26th, 2023. Fireblocks discloses a Unipass wallet vulnerability, Arbitrum Orbit is mainnet ready, Polygon activates the Inkaberry upgrade, and Metamask expands support for networks on its bridge app. All this and more starts right now. The Fireblocks security team disclosed an ERC4337 account abstraction related vulnerability in Unipass's smart contract wallet. Attackers could have exploited the vulnerability by modifying the trusted entry point in hundreds of Unipass wallets, which would have allowed them to control and drain funds from the wallets together with Fireblocks, Unipass executed a white hat operation to patch the vulnerability, setting the entry point of impacted wallets to a new rescue contract and adding missing permissions. Fireblocks highlighted the challenges of securing modular smart contracts and the need for standardized security measures such as ERC6900. Arbitrum Orbit, a tech stack for deploying layer 3 app chains on Arbitrum antitrust chains, is now mainnet ready. Orbit chains can post data availability to Arbitrum One or Arbitrum Nova, enabling ultra low -cost transactions. Gaming and derivatives platforms have emerged as a top application use case for Orbit chains. Rollup as a service providers Caldera, Conduit, and Outlayer will facilitate the deployment of Orbit chains. Arbitrum Orbit is compatible with Stylus, a tech stack that supports smart contracts written in any Wasm -compatible language. Orbit chains can also integrate Arbitrum Nitro updates without having to obtain governance approval. Polygon has initiated the IncaBerry upgrade for its ZK -EVM mainnet beta, which introduces cryptographic enhancements, bug fixes, and updates to the prover and node. A 10 -day time lock set to end on November 5th is in place for users to withdraw funds and developers to test the update. Developers will need to update to the latest versions of the node and prover once the upgrade is live on Ethereum mainnet. And lastly, Metamask added support for bridging between Base, ZKSync era, and Linea, bringing the total number of supported networks to 9 within its bridge portal. Powered by bridge aggregators socket and LeFi, the portal includes bridge providers like Hop, Cellar Cbridge, and Polygon Bridge. A 0 .875 % fee is applied to all bridging transactions on the Metamask portfolio dApp. In other news, the Frame Layer 2 rollup is now live on the Arbitrum Nitro testnet, the Bridge kicks off OP incentives, S .Box releases an on -chain URL shortener, and CCTP is now live on Base. "There we go. What's up everybody? This is Carrick with ACG and I'm here with Johnny and Abzi for the best gaming podcast number 430 as always we had a little bit of a technical glitch Had multiple technical glitches if you guys were informed about an hour and a half ago that we went live Obviously we didn't I don't quite know exactly what's going on But I was out playing with my dogs and it suddenly said that we were going live. So I apologize for that We'll try to get it fixed I'm trying to work on it behind the scenes YouTube is just sort of a disaster when it goes behind the scenes We're live right showing me live. Yeah All right Anyway, we're live So Johnny and Abzi are here what I was saying earlier was it's so funny because I can always tell something's either really bad or Somebody said something to you guys in the chat Because I was talking and I was asking you guys questions and you weren't answering at all Yeah, we were trying to figure out like what was going on. Yeah, we weren't live But anyway, I appreciate everybody showing up. Sorry about that We you know what? We're the best gaming podcast for a reason. There we go The joke's never gonna die because it just does not go away. No matter Omar says I watched you guys an hour ago Yeah, exactly. Again. I have no clue what happened, but it's just one of those things Um, I was saying to these guys Johnny's showing up for this one He doesn't go to the Wednesdays and silver was gonna come today, but he ended up feeling ill So he said that he was gonna bow out so he'll probably be on next week to tell us about sad games as what I was So now we're full energy full focus now now we are ready do it Let's see. What's up, Big Mac, Eric Omar. I appreciate all you guys popping in played by Ken Laid by Ken Jack. We're gonna we are gonna talk about the GTA trailer for sure Christianos What is that? Christian on Oh, Susa. Is that right? For your channel, Christiano Sousa. Yeah. Thank you very much for showing up Absolutely. Appreciate it now big question. Let's get it out of the way is Carrick doing reviews anymore. No This is it me and I'm done with reviews. Yes, of course We've got some reviews coming and I've been playing the games for 60 to 80 hours, which is my workweek So that's why you haven't seen a review from me since Mario But there are reviews coming out. What have you guys been playing Johnny? You can go first up. What have you been playing? I've been playing cyberpunk revisiting it checking out the new skill tree Experiencing it kind of in a fresh way after a long time since release. It's and it's now a really fun game It's a banger game. I mean, I like that already in release, but now it's a bit more arcadey. It feels more enjoyable for me And I'm gonna try out the DLC and stuff. I've also been playing some Indies on my new steam deck David the diver and Underlilies a side-scroller So it's like great atmosphere, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah banger music Anime girl, it's got all you need all you need. Well, I your words not mine And my mom you I'm just you And I also put mankind divided on the deck and I've been playing that too Yeah, it's a very it runs pretty well on the deck too, which is great Yeah, man kind of bite. It is a good game that people should play if they like cyberpunk at all. Go ahead Abzi, dude I don't want to be that guy Johnny, but trust me bro. Trust me You need you need you need them cider cyberpunk mods, dude. Trust me. They make the game like 20,000 times better than it is true. Give me your top like one or two top one two months out of 200, bro Yeah, mom's top one or two. What do you got top one or two? Okay Fuck okay, PED damage overhaul with with I think it's a euphoria mod, which has like the locational damage stuff. Mm-hmm and Fuck what would be my second? Can I group like a collection of mods a Collection of mods would be immersive bartenders immersive food and drink immersive Ripper dogs all that stuff so you could actually have see it happen in the game world. Yeah I'm gonna add one more and like a stock market. Oh and and okay, that's it That's it but I swear to God like all of them together like and I have to pay like insurance for my car if I if I hit someone or something and I don't know There's a lot of stuff that literally that just make the whole world more immersive and less like a less of a backdrop You know more emergent. I'm just stealing cars like Wouldn't There's there's also one that makes the gangs like Dynamic and like fight with each other in the world and stuff and you'll see like Mad Max Fury Road shit where they're like chasing Each other and fighting each other and that one's like a cool overhaul mod as well. There's so much dude, dude I'm feeling like they added stuff. I'm just Constantly finding stuff that I don't remember Experiencing it originally like Of course the police system now works Yeah, that type of thing and the ability to just hijack cars Am I just an idiot and I've forgotten could you always in multiple cars there? Yeah, there's 2.1 update and then next week or here soon. We're getting Another update with met stated. Yes. I saw some list of stuff and there's some when I figured out Dude, like GTA I could just you know, hijack any cars that I found cool. That was yeah That's what that was from release. You could you could hide if you have enough strength or enough tech. Yeah. Yeah It could be Maybe you noticed it because you switched your character type this time and you had some abilities. You could be yeah. Yeah Very interesting that that actually seems like that's probably what's going on Is that you know you had a different character at one time you're playing a certain way and it can very much feel like Oh was this there I've done that man I've gone back and played a game and even deus ex if I choose a different, you know path and doing stuff I'll be like and also the way I was playing first time was like I have my car. I have my house I have my routine, you know the whole emergent narrative thing. So I wasn't even stepping outside of like What's my stuff? I wasn't really looking to steal or do that type of thing when you guys see if you can find I just tried to and I couldn't find it easily the cyber the There's a leak or a rumor or a list of what was what's included and includes the Metro But when I looked it up, I didn't get Google hasn't been working well for me And I remember pretty much everything but I don't have like a list Yeah, I'm trying to get the list so that people don't be like you miss something. There's Yeah There was a list for the brand new the patch that comes out next week They yeah Metro and some other stuff that I did not expect at all. I didn't know In fact, this is where I want to go with the conversation So while you guys are trying to find that I did want to point out a couple people were not mad they were frustrated a little bit that the their playthrough Sort of their ultimate playthrough was phantom liberty and they were done And then now we get this idea that there's gonna be yeah, and they they weren't like, oh man, we get more This is terrible. It was more like oh, dude, I like you guys said that was the thing so they jumped into it and they probably have Mod for Metro if you want because I believe there's a there's a Metro mod that's out there But I do get sort of what they were saying because they were under not an impression I mean developers should support their games I think it's awesome, but I do get sort of the frustration of maybe jumping in and going Oh, man, this is gonna be my sort of 2.0 playthrough This is gonna be the thing I do and maybe that is a foster your energy a little bit It is a frustration. But yeah, I can see that very it's a good one to have right like like like Yeah, yeah, it's a good one to have and then the grand scheme of things But I mean like it's like that's the least of the word like that's it's it's all it's always a good thing Like this what's happening is for sure a good thing even with these frustrations And and and also to that I feel like a lot of the things they did Add for the new update are more sandbox emergent stuff, which Would be nice if you just felt like being in that world one of the biggest issues of cyberpunk for me was that the world was more of a backdrop a very beautiful backdrop a backdrop nonetheless There weren't a lot of sandbox elements in the game other than quest markers to go and kill stuff and do outputs and stuff And so the so so the things they're adding it might be nice for people to just like revisit it just to be in that world and not completely focus on like one like just doing the narrative and there is gonna be some dissonance because of the Whole structure of the narrative and now it works and it's like you're gonna die in two weeks So you got to do the thing so but so so it might be nice to like go back for a second or third playthrough just to like You know forget about the main story and see what the world has in store with the with all the new updates and stuff like that Yeah, I'll be interested to see what it yeah My would I mean, I'm I don't see myself ever installing it again but if like you get the metro and all that stuff than a year or two down the road I could you know, maybe I'll maybe I want I was uh Not to get into the weeds. I was I wasn't disappointed. I wasn't disappointed at all with phantom Liberty actually liked it. I thought the updates were awesome, but I still could feel that it wasn't You know, it was like this is such an improvement but still nowhere near Eclipses the main game. Yeah, you know, I know in there I mean that when I played the whole game again to do phantom liberty and or experience the game and then jumped in the Phantom Liberty even when I left I was like this still isn't at all. What like was originally suggested It's a huge no no, but it's like it's a huge improvement I still had that thing in my heart where I was like damn this is not I still want more like I just yeah So, yeah, I think Yeah, I think I in general to sum it up and like a sentence is that I I wanted more of a of a sandbox RPG and this was more of like everything was around one Narrative basically. Yeah, so there it's there's just not much to a good-looking narrative do right? Yeah good-looking narrative Now it would be ridiculous to ever complain about it hush out Google $5 super chat playing Yakuza 0 got me thinking is there a Game-mechanic to earn money in a game. You would want to be in real life beating up strangers for money. For instance, dude We've talked about this if games if real life was as easy as games I'd be a billionaire because I find like some trade route in freelancer that takes like two seconds But makes me a hundred grand each day And train training frugal a more frugal of my money in games. Oh Yeah, more, uh, yeah, no means you don't spend it like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah like I'm holding on to it I don't I don't think I'm not gonna buy this like low-level armor. I'm gonna find you know, anyway So I just save save save save save until I literally money isn't even a mechanic anymore and then it gets boring You know what game did it really? Economy really well was wasteland 3. I felt I felt like with whale wasteland 3 I was always like in a flow of gaining money and losing money and gaining money and buying stuff And it never went away. I was never way too rich or too poor. I was very well done Yeah, man We were talking but before abzi got in Johnny and I were talking about Johnny's starting to work out prior the podcast So he has energy and I run in the morning To do the same thing and my lips are chapped man. I just realized That cold. Yeah Yeah, my lips are getting yeah like 29 degrees when I went out there and I was like, yeah this is this is gonna be and You're running and then you're blow, you know, the air is hitting. Yeah this morning I just realized I was like, why is it so painful even smiling was hurting. Um, yeah with With cyberpunk, I think it's awesome to see and I think that's a good frustration. It's like, you know, I mean If it only happens once or twice, it's like having sex and not finishing you're like I still had sex. So yeah cyberpunk is really really Awesome sex and maybe there's the chance of you know little sex later, which is this new patch. I'm excited for it I think the Metro is all I mean, I met I love fast travel stuff I don't use it, but I love it to experience. I love that exists in a world even though I don't use it I don't you abzi and I talked about this on Wednesday. I don't use the wagons in Skyrim, but I love that they exist I don't use you know half of this stuff in spider-man like the subway Why would you ever use a subway in spider-man but but you know, you can use those things and you know We kind of shed on RTX a lot But I'm gonna just continue down that line where I I think it's so not worth Right now, you know for cyberpunk. I turned that that sucker on and immediately I'm at 45 Yeah, forget about it without frame John. Yeah Instead I can play the game. I'd like almost a hundred most of the time and it looks incredible right the lighting When you can run it as well I love the path tracing they're like it's it's you know What I noticed most abzi is the shadows like they're like the Sun shadows. I Definitely noticed that it's better looking at nighttime like a nice idea. Sorry with path tracing I feel like you can you can see it more in the nighttime But yeah, it's just one you just want to flex because you have a 49 it's literally it's like if you can run it It's worth it. But if you can't it's not but like it's it's even then like it's just still such a Such a my new kind of niche thing that I feel like Doesn't have to be like I don't want to see art go away like we were taught I think a couple podcasts ago where we're talking about, you know stuff like baked lighting and raster and and you know, there's all these really really cool tech that's coming out for global illumination and all that stuff and And that is just something else. You know, I mean when it's not, you know light in Games, it's it's not meant to bounce like that And and I mean it is in a way like where you want it to be hyper realistic but what I'm trying to say is like everyone has their own art style going into a game and I feel like It's it's just not that necessary. I guess what I'm trying to say It's it's not like a core thing that should be like at the core of like a games style. Yeah, or hopefully not. Yeah Yeah Next gen or whatever, you know 50 90s or whatever they're called and then whatever is coming from AMD I'll probably be able to do it which will be cool I think that we start to see how good it can look in racing games Which is always the premiere of technology a racing game is almost always the premier Yeah, and now I was seeing John from digital foundry was doing his comparison of GTA verse sorry of Gran Turismo versus Forza and Some of the Forza some of the GT shots, of course look cool, but some of the Forza shots I was just like Jesus that does look, you know when everything's done, right? It looks good, but I have noticed also that when it looks wrong a programmer isn't touching it by hand Which means they can't fix the wrong parts So when you're touching it by hand you can go in and say this part isn't lit, right? Let's fix this But if everything's running through let's say ray tracing There's this middle ground that starts to pop up where it's like this is good enough and we start to get those issues with games Where one place looks amazing Amazing a mate like night in a lot of games night looks great And then the daytime you'll be playing Assassin's Creed is I think some Assassin's Creed is not all but some are known for that We're at nighttime. They look awesome. And there's like this. Yeah, really cool. Look and then during day they just don't look as good. Um Looking here what people say does ACG ever smile I do whenever anybody has really bad luck You will see me smile or whenever anybody sends me when we mentioned dragon's dogma Yeah, be like dragon's dogma, too. Yeah, we're gonna talk about it again because I just can't stop talking about it I do want to talk about the leaks and the weird stuff. So let's just jump I was playing by the way, unless you that's because I told you on Wednesday So I was going with Johnny's but if you've played anything different feel free. Yeah, I just yeah There was just one thing I want to bring up. I can bring up bring it up later. No, go for it. You know, what was it? It's a it's a game it's a game called quasimorph I it was brought to my attention by a youtuber called Seth which who reviewed the game It is it is it is a fucking game dude, it's a hardcore Extraction single-player. It's kind of like Tarkov like 2d Where where it's top-down and it's turn-based but not turn-based in the sense where you take a turn they take a turn It's like oh you shoot that took like two turns the enemy could move or or you move and that took a turn So like on action and it's a turn and basically, it's it's You're in the future and it's like an Arco capitalism and you're like a group of mercenaries And you make these clones to go out on on missions for you and kind of like XCOM You have your team and you assign classes to them and all that stuff and and It's like Tarkov where you go into missions and Everything you loot and you take and you extract with you keep at home base You expand your inventory you use it for crafting use it to turn it in quests And if you die, you lose everything you lose the character Yeah, and and it's funny because they go like well losing a character is nothing they're just clones like fuck them you know what I mean, but you do level up each character and stuff like that and and It's it's pretty interesting and there's like many different corpse and you can invest in them and side with them and You just just do missions and you can go against other corpse and do all that stuff and it's like procedurally generated so as like a rogue like element to it and It's very very hardcore in the sense that dude You can get like infected and stuff to the point where you have to like amputate your own legs And you can get crazy with it. Yeah, because you know, you need to eat you just Like yeah on your hands Yeah, I think so. I haven't amputated my leg or anything. So I haven't tried Could you please and then get back to us next Wednesday? That's a that's a question. I think it is burning in my mind now Anyway, not only that Carrick you so there is food in the game where there's like calories and every step takes calories And you want to replenish those calories and obviously if you're starving and you don't have food you can amputate the enemies you kill and Like other actions do is it increases this thing called like a quasi morph meter and the more it's filled up but the more crazy shit happens like when enemies die now, they spawn a zombie and the the higher it is the more drastic the consequences are and what's cool is that you can interact with these corpse and like talk to these NPCs and like sell stuff and If you're like really down bad There's a certain corp that will buy limbs from you And if you have nothing you can just like cut off all your all your limbs and just sell it to To the corp and then let your limbs regenerate back in the ship for the clone that you used to do all that with It's a very interesting game. There's a lot of like you got to treat your wounds and all that shit So it's pretty hardcore, but was a more it's a very fun time quasi morph. Yeah, and how much also is it still in early access? Oh, how much is it? But it's let me check. I think I bought it for like 20 bucks But it has a lot of content 20 bucks Yeah I was a lot of content right now and just the nature of it the Brings and repeat and a lot of trial and error I feel like I can just get into it play and then when it comes out With more knowledge play more like I see I see playing that game just like regularly When I want to you know, kill myself So, wow, that's such a great sales pitch 2d games that reminds me of I believe flashpoint 2 came out and and utterly failed I believe flashpoint 2 released. I didn't even get a PR But so flashpoint is a 2d one of the best 2d games ever made It's 2.5 D sort of like it used polygons back in the day and it was a you know Like an Ori or whatever where you're going side to side on the on a screen, but sci-fi very hard sci-fi as in not difficult but hard like, you know that deeper sci-fi where There's a dystopian feel to it And I'm pretty sure I saw some reviews popping up for that and it didn't review Well it so the idea of another to like 2d game I might jump to instead of flashback, but because I was I was thinking about getting them But I saw the reviews it goes very very deep and I just love I always love the feeling of risk versus reward to like gain items that you can use that base to like craft stuff and upgrade things and I Just love the idea of that just continuously going on risky missions and stuff. Oh, yeah Back to man flashback. Yeah Initially you said flashpoint.

Thanks for tuning in to the Unchained Recap for Day 9 of the criminal trial for Sam Bigman -Fried. In devastating testimony for the defense, former FTX head of engineering Nishad Singh detailed instances of bullying behavior from ex -CEO Sam Bigman -Fried and numerous times when SPF used customer funds to fuel his spending spree. Singh described an organization that allegedly defrauded FTX customers by freely spending customer assets on ill -advised investments, sponsorships, and political action, all at Bankman -Fried's direction, and a leadership style that browbeat and belittled anyone who disagreed with him or expressed concerns. Singh's testimony echoed comments by the prosecution's other two star witnesses during the first two weeks, former Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison and former FTX chief technology officer Gary Wong. I was blindsided and horrified. I felt really betrayed. That five years of blood, sweat, and tears from me and so many employees driving towards something that I thought was a beautiful force for good had turned out to be so evil, Singh said. I knew that customers were betrayed. So many customers had to put their trust in us. Singh, who came across as earnest and is having a strong conscience, told jurors that SPF continued to spend excessively even after learning of an $8 billion hole in Alameda's balance sheet that mushroomed as the crypto market slumped following the collapse of the I deficit. learned of the hole and even after that, implicitly and explicitly, I greenlit transactions that I knew must have been digging the hole deeper and therefore coming from customer funds, Singh said. Singh, who was Bankman -Fried's younger brother's friend and had known SPF since high school, was initially intimidated by the defendant after joining Alameda in 2017. But he lost faith in SPF amid his dismissiveness and seeming dishonesty to where company's financial management. I had a lot of admiration and respect for him, Singh said. Over time, I think a lot of that eroded, and I grew distrustful. Singh described his increasing concern about Bankman -Fried's spending even as the company sank deeper into debt. I'd frequently go to Sam and express that I thought that the spend was too large or that it didn't make sense, in essence, a bad business decision. And I also would express that I felt kind of embarrassed and ashamed of how much it all reeked of excess and flashiness. It didn't align with what I thought we were building a company for. Some examples of the excess were that Alameda had invested $1 .5 billion into Bitcoin miner Genesis digital assets in early 2022, as well as $500 million into AI startup Anthropic and $200 million into incubation firm K5, founded by Michael Kives. The K5 deal accelerated after SPF attended a Super Bowl -related party in Los Angeles with several top A -list celebrities. Hillary Clinton, Doug Emhoff, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Kate Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bezos, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, Kendall Jenner, Kris Jenner, and Corey Gamble. Singh said SPF described the event as, quote, the most impressive collection of people he had ever seen in one location, adding that the FTX co -founder told him that if asked, K5 could probably arrange an FTX dinner with Elon Musk, former President Barack Obama, Rihanna, and Mark Zuckerberg in a month. When Singh saw the term sheet with K5, which proposed hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to Kives and his partner Brian Baum, as well as $1 billion for their VC firm, he was shocked. Quote, I was worried that partnering with K5 and giving them this much money would be really toxic to FTX and Alameda culture, that every day I was actively trying to espouse, I felt we all were, that politicking and social climbing was not going to be rewarded. And here we were rewarding people in exorbitant amounts, Singh said. He added that he asked SPF to use his own personal money for the deal so that it wouldn't affect the culture of FTX. Singh also detailed his shock at the $1 .1 billion FTX spent on sponsorships, such as the naming rights for the Miami Heat basketball arena and endorsements from top celebrities, including Steph Curry, Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, and Larry David. He was also uncomfortable with the spending on real estate. For instance, before they moved into their luxury penthouse apartment, Bigman Fried and his future roommates argued over where to live. The group had initially chosen a more modest apartment, but SPF wanted to check out the penthouse. Quote, Sam really liked this one, Singh said. Sam's a fan of views, and there was substantial disagreement about if we should go with it, in part because it was really expensive, in part because it's super ostentatious. When discussing it with SPF, Singh said, quote, Sam said that he would pay $100 million for the drama to just be done with and go away, which I took as a pretty clear sign that I should shut up. In September 2022, Singh had a discussion with the defendant about the lack of collateral Alameda had to support its futures trading. Singh determined that Alameda was short $10 billion of what was needed to support its trading positions and relied on its $65 billion line of credit to make up for this multi -billion dollar deficit. Bigman Fried instructed Singh to transfer SPF's Ellison's and Wong's personal SRM tokens, which were locked, and therefore illiquid, into Alameda's main trading account. Singh said the transfer was meant to fool the CFTC, or US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, by making it seem as if Alameda had posted more collateral than it had. Singh did not execute the transfer, saying that it felt wrong. He said, quote, I was fine giving up my personal assets. I'd taken on debts and given up my assets for the company countless times. But I understood the purpose of this exercise was to be, you know, to fool a US regulator and to fool employees of the company. And I wasn't comfortable doing that. Singh, who was freaking out about the possibility that FTX would be unable to meet customer withdrawals, had an evening talk with the defendant in the fall of 2022 on the palatial balcony of their luxurious apartment, which featured a swimming pool and several lounge chairs. In this talk, Singh said he was worried about Alameda's NAV, which was his euphemism for the hole, and Bigman Fried responded, quote, I'm not sure what there is to worry about. NAV is fantastic by almost any measure. When Singh asked how much Alameda was short by, SPF said, quote, that is the wrong question to be asking, and then proceeded to talk about how much he could deliver within various timeframes. Around $5 billion in 24 hours, substantially more in several weeks. And after that, quote, again, substantially more. At some point, Singh said, Jesus fucking Christ. And Bigman Fried said that his shortcoming of several billion dollars had been taxing him about 5 to 10 percent of his productivity. While Singh responded, he thought it would hit him a lot harder. The prosecutor asked Singh why he didn't leave FTX. He said he considered leaving the company every day, but added, quote, how could I live with myself if my departure precipitated a fall that might have been unavoidable? Singh details how he tried to cut costs of the company and said that at first he was, quote, pleasantly surprised and felt he was able to cut a couple hundred million dollars in spend. But further conversations with SPF made him realize that what Singh felt was, quote, an obligation was, quote, not being taken seriously since SPF was unwilling to cut endorsement and sponsorship deals that meant another $1 billion was, quote, headed out the door. After SPF returned from his Middle East fundraising trip, Singh, who so rarely met with a former FTX CEO one -on -one, said that it was an annual occurrence, met with him privately again, this time in one of Sam's apartments. After beginning by stating he was not doing well and thinking of quitting, Singh asked SPF how it was going with NAV. SPF, who was standing in the kitchen with his back against the fridge, said he could raise anywhere from $0 to $5 billion. He told Singh the main plan was to make FTX a success and said to Singh, quote, that depends a huge part on you. You're one of the few people, Nishad, that can take that kind of work off my plate so I can focus on the rest of this. Singh admitted he had been afraid to ask SPF for the meeting and said that he felt the defendant was, quote, very mad and that the meeting was tense with, quote, long periods of silence. Then he listed some of what he called Sam's tells for when he's upset and how SPF showed them in this conversation. Quote, puffed out his chest, hands back. He was grinding his finger, closing his eyes, grinding his teeth or tongue in his mouth. And when he opened them to respond, he would sort of glare at me with some intensity. I ended up apologizing to him at the end for asking for the meeting because I could tell it was so unwelcome. Singh pleaded guilty to charges related to violating campaign finance laws, which involved letting donations be made at his name even though they were funded from Alameda or as a borrower from FTX. Some of these loans were used for Bank One Three's political donation campaign and to fund his brother's political action committee, guarding against pandemics. Additionally, he said he participated in falsifying and backdating FTX's 2021 revenue numbers for auditors. SPF wanted FTX's revenue, which stood at 950 million dollars for the year, to be one billion dollars because FTX's revenue would show up on a spreadsheet that would be presented to investors. SPF proposed creating fake revenue backdated throughout the year from charging for offering staking services of serum. When withdrawals began to accelerate on November 5th, Singh became, quote, concerned that this might spell doom and the end of our fraud. Since he knew customers who expected full access to their assets did not know that they were not backed. Although Singh seemed to have a strong sense of right and wrong, even he ended up doing things he wasn't proud of. Around this time, he sent SPF a signal message asking if he could, quote, make some fictitious transactions that it looks like I had paid off this amount that I owed. Singh explained that he meant backdated transactions, which was, quote, something I knew could be done because Sam had proposed it once to me in other contexts. Singh acknowledged this, quote, felt wrong and said he wasn't trying to excuse himself, but said, quote, I was in different levels of having a right mind throughout these days. On November 6th, he said a war room meeting gathered in one of Bankman -Fried's apartments. It was attended by Singh, SPF, Ellison, Wong, Romnick Aurora, and by phone, head of FTX Digital Markets, Ryan Salem, who all were workshopping a draft tweet thread by Bankman -Fried. Quote, there was a point when they were discussing whether or not to characterize FTX as solvent or well -capitalized. I felt very uncomfortable with both definitions, Singh said. I felt neither was true. Singh leaned over the couch to say something like, quote, I'm not comfortable with this. I'm recusing myself. He testified. They acknowledged in a kind of annoyed way and proceeded. Singh had wanted to halt withdrawals rather than make a statement about FTX's strength. He said, quote, I'd overheard in the conversation opinions that these tweets should be really strong, which I understood to be a euphemism for particularly misleading in such a way that will quell fears definitively. On November 8th, via signal chat, Singh and Bankman -Fried discussed the fact that lawyer Dan Friedberg was angry and that Salem might resign. Singh then wrote, quote, they may need to know that it wasn't a ton of people orchestrating it. In testimony, Singh explained, quote, I really wanted Sam to clarify what everyone's role in this fraud was. I wanted him to clarify that I wasn't orchestrating it and that I learned about it really late. I wanted Sam to clarify that he was orchestrating it. I was certainly guilty for participating in it since September, but don't feel I made the whole. And secondly, I wanted the state of my relationship with these people I loved and tried to do right by, to remain intact and for them to not hate me. It was during this part of his testimony that Singh revealed he had been, quote, suicidal for days shortly after his direct testimony ended, meaning that Tuesday morning he will face his cross -examination. Unchained will be back for more recaps tomorrow. And if you like, you can also get real -time updates on my Twitter feed at Laura Shin at around lunchtime and after 4 .30 PM when court lets out. Thanks and see you tomorrow.

This guy's been with me for like two years, something like that. Back in the early days, even before we called it Cafe Bitcoin. By the way, Cafe Bitcoin was started over on, what the hell's the name of that other platform? Clubhouse. Thank you. Clubhouse. Long, long time ago by Cory and a couple of other OGs who did that pretty regularly for a long time and then I started doing spaces. We were calling it Bitcoin Breakfast Club and at one point Cory's like, hey, you guys should call it Cafe Bitcoin, which we did. But ant's been with me for a long time. Ant's got some really cool stuff that's going on lately. First of all, thanks for creating time chain stats. My pleasure. I'm really happy that everybody likes it. It's one of those things that I needed to cite myself and when I get the feedback from everybody that they enjoy it too, it creates kind of like a feedback loop of incentives for me to make it better. I really appreciate it and keep sending in your feedback. Fantastic. All right. Send them some sats too. There's a donation page on there. Yes. Top right, there's a little orange button you can donate in sats if you choose to do so, if you're into that kind of thing. Also, ant has an announcement to make. He has built something that actually has to do with that little orange button that is going to be pretty important to the entire Bitcoin ecosystem, in my opinion. What is that thing, ant? Yeah, so real quick, I mean, this is something that happened out of the course of the development of this website. A good friend of mine, Wooderson, some other people had advised me to put some donations on here, but I just never did. Woody made a good case for me to get it on there, so I finally looked into it. I have a good friend, TC, and he's built time chain calendar. We kind of did this at the same time. I put BTC pay server up and running. I got it going, got some liquidity on lightning, and then launched my BTC pay donations app on time chain sats. But the problem is, BTC pay server is awesome. It's really amazing. Whenever you get into the configurations and everything, you start to learn how cool it really is. You set up a few things for a payment button to take donations or tips, and it gives you code that you can just drop into your HTML site or your PHP site, and it's just immediate. There's your button, and you can style it. It's great. Time chain stats and time chain calendar are made in a modern web framework called React, and unfortunately, it just doesn't work in React. React has a different way of coding. They actually call it and refer to it as the React way, so it's like a different way to do it. You can imagine the building process. We got our BTC pay server going, and then it's like, okay, we've got our React apps, and here's the code it gave us, and now we have like three more weeks or two more weeks or whatever to you thought you're ready and you're not. So we built these components from scratch. We rolled our own, and we basically, you know, emulated exactly what they would give you, and, you know, as like kind of a default setting, and then we also allowed people to make changes to it. You can edit it however you like. You can, you know, once you get it installed, you can change all of your colours and everything. It's change your buttons, whatever, and change, you know, the amounts. It's really flexible, but the idea is we wanted to leave the light on for the next guy. You know, the next people who are using this, let's save them some time. We made it into a package, so you can just do, you know, NPM and download the package, get it installed into your app, but, you know, the cool thing about it is that now that it's on there, I mean, any other React developer who's looking to install their BTC pay button, they can do that with just a few steps. Okay, Ant. In non -shadowy... Block found! Block found! Y 'all are on it. Luxor. Luxor. It's a Luxor block? Ant's not a fan. All right, so, Ant, in non -shadowy super coder language, for people who don't know what React is, why is this a big deal? It's a big deal because React is a modern web framework. I mean, when you think about it in, like, web stacks, I mean, HTML is kind of like the basic, you know, web vanilla, you know, website frame, you know, coding language or whatever. It's not even a coding language. And then markup language. And then, you know, you get into React. I mean, there's like in 2020, I think, or 2023, I think we looked up and it was 12 million websites are using React. 12 million websites using React? Yeah. You know, it's more than that. I mean, this is like a modern way to build websites. You know, React introduces like this component model. It's a very flexible way to build your apps. And so a lot of big companies are using it. Like, you know, React, I mean, a lot of huge companies use it. So it's a big deal. And we think of it as kind of like a bridge. So, you know, TC and I, as we're building this thing, we wanted to make something that was so flexible, but it was like the default option. So if you had your, let's say you set up your BTC pay server and you got that code and you're going to put it in your website, this one matches the look and the feel exactly. And all the settings and everything, it's just super easy. One, two, three. Now React developers can do it with no headache. Out of curiosity, are there any React developers in the audience right now? None. All right. No worries. Yeah. Here's the other side of this. So, you know, it may not be like the most exciting thing in the world, right? But here's what's really cool about it, is that it solves a major problem. Like this is something that we ran into as developers and, you know, we couldn't get it fixed. We had to roll our own. And in fact, later on I found this post on Stack Overflow and someone was asking the exact same thing. They were saying, you know, how do I embed this pay button into my React app? And it was, that question was asked three, you know, three and a half years ago. And there was no answers. There were some comments about it, no answers. I answered it the other day with, you know, this one, two, three step process. And so, it's really cool. And the other part about it that is really exciting is, again, it's not some big ground shaking like, you know, massive development. It's cool and it's going to save some React developers some time. But, you know, it's not some big protocol development or anything like that. It's happening in the application layer, though. And from the beginning, I hoped that BTC pay and those guys would appreciate the work. But frankly, like, you know, it's permissionless. We see an issue. The code is available. I'm using Microsoft Outlook, for example. I don't know if they have the code available on GitHub that you could go, you know, look at that and work with that system. But BTC pay server does. So, you can make that change, put it in, build something that works with the system and they ended up adding it to the documentation. So, we're really happy to say that, you know, now you're on the BTC pay documentation. You're a React developer and it has the steps right there. So, it's really cool.

Welcome back to the Here in Jesus podcast. I'm your host, Rachel Grohl. Welcome back to our introduction to the Gospel series where we're going through the Gospel, starting with the Gospel of Matthew. And I'm just teaching on some of the things that we sometimes miss from the history and the culture and the background, things that help us understand the text a little bit more clearly. So today we're in Matthew Chapter 8, picking up at verse 14. And if you're just joining us, I would encourage you to go back and start listening from the beginning of this series. Everything kind of builds on itself, so it will make more sense, I think, if you do it that way. But we're so glad you're here. So I'm reading from the New American Standard Version of the Bible, starting at Matthew Chapter 8, verses 14. It says, When Jesus came into Peter's home, he saw his mother -in -law lying sick in bed with a fever, and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and waited on him. Now when evening came, they brought to him many who were demon -possessed, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled. He himself took our illnesses and carried away our diseases. Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea. Then a scribe came and said to him, Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go. And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head. And another of the disciples said to him, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead. There's a lot to unpack here, and hopefully we'll get through it all today. If not, we'll pick up tomorrow. But I want to make mention initially about the location of where they're at. It says in verse 14, When Jesus came into Peter's home. So this mother -in -law scene is something that is just so touching for a variety of reasons. But I wanted to just spend a little bit of time talking about Peter's home, because this is one of those places in the scriptures that we have a lot of evidence for and verification of the house of Peter. Back in 1968, there were excavations done that convinced most archaeologists that this was the actual site of Peter's house in Capernaum. And so they sifted through the remains of lots of different kinds of buildings like centuries -old churches, and what excavators eventually came to find was this house built in approximately 63 B .C. That was originally one story that had walls made of that black basalt stone that we talked about a couple days ago. There was a roof made of beans and branches of trees that was covered with a mix of earth and straw. There was pottery shards and oil lamps and coins all discovered within the ruins, and they all dated back to that first century, along with artifacts that included several fish hooks and things from the layers of the first floor that indicated that it was a fisherman's house. And so the house was organized as several rooms, and it was built around two interior courtyards. And the dimensions by ancient standards were fairly large, but it was very similar to other houses in the area that were built around the same time. It's interesting because this building, they can tell from the archaeology, it was a typical home for extended family, and Peter and Andrew apparently moved the family fishing business from Bethsaida to Capernaum, and they established their home base essentially in this house, and it was large enough for an extended family. But during the second half of the first century, AD, the use of the house was changed. Instead of a primary residential house, the domestic pottery, which is how we tend to live, that domestic pottery stopped, and the walls of the large center of the room became plastered. And that is pretty unusual for the region, except when there were groups of people that will be gathering lots at the time. So instead of it being a residential place, this is now a place that would be housing a lot of people. And there's actually graffiti that are on the walls that mention Jesus as Lord and the Christ, and that's both written in the Greek and some Hebrew. And then pieces of evidence indicate that during this time, the house became this center of Christian worship, and it became a home church. And so this home church continued to be in existence for nearly 300 years, and there's evidence from over 100 Greek, Aramaic, Syrian, Latin, and Hebrew sketches of graffiti there in the walls. It's scratched literally into the plaster walls, and there's numerous crosses, there's a boat, there's lots of other letters, and in the graffiti, there's at least two possible instances where it says Peter's name. In the 5th century, an octagonal church was built right over the original footprint, and I'm going to put some pictures of both of these up on the Patreon if you want to see what it looks like. But I want you to just think about this for a moment. We have archaeological evidence of Peter's home that later became a church. I just love that because so much of the history of the scriptures is lost. Now we do have a lot, but there's very few things that are verifiable, but it is verifiable that Peter had a home in this area in this timeframe, so I love that. So in verse 14, when it references, he saw Peter's mother -in -law. Mark later informs us that both Peter and Andrew lived here, and perhaps had been a home of Peter and Andrew's parents, but it was now occupied by the sons and their larger extended families, including on Peter's side, at least his wife and her parents. And so Paul also alludes to Peter's marriage in 1 Corinthians. And so it says she was lying in bed with a fever. And as Matthew explains this, the actual language says she was having been thrown on a bed with a fever. And what that isn't an indication of is that she was in throes of a severe illness. She was feverish. They think perhaps it was malaria that was really common in that timeframe, that culture. And so fever was considered by the population to be a disease, not a symptom. And so it wasn't just like, you know, we randomly get fevers when we're fighting off a flu or something. The fever itself was seen as a disease. And so we don't know exactly, but like I said, malaria was pretty common, and that is symptomatic. You know, it's consistent with those kinds of symptoms. And so it's interesting to see how Jesus healed her and the response that happens. And as I was thinking about that and praying through that, I was thinking about what healing from Jesus has looked like in my own life. And I think it's consistent with what we see with his mother in law. The response of Jesus healing her produces in her this service upon the Lord. So she immediately got up and started waiting on him. And I've been there. I've been in that place where I have experienced healing, the healing of God in my life. And immediately it puts me in such a place of being thankful and wanting to just serve him, serve him with my life. And I love that we see that picture here. Moving on to verse 17, it says this was to fulfill what was spoken to the prophet Isaiah. He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases. Now, infirmities, of course, mean sicknesses. And this is another allusion by Matthew to the servant that is mentioned in Isaiah's prophecy in Isaiah chapter 53 in the Old Testament. And what he's doing is he's focusing on the servant's role of bringing healing. And so the servant bears the sickness of others through his suffering and his death and eventually his resurrection. And so many modern scholars doubt that first century Jews would have interpreted Isaiah 53 as a messianic prophecy, but some of the later texts from the rabbis in the later time period recognize that this was a messianic interpretation of this passage. And so what we see is even before the Jewish leaders of the time understood what was happening, Jesus was fulfilling this prophecy from the book of Isaiah. In verse 19, it says, then a teacher of the law came to him. Chapter eight, verse 19, it says that. And I want to mention this because the Jewish population, they had a high percentage that were trained in things like reading and writing, but only a very small segment of those people regularly worked with writing materials. And so even fewer had access to the books or of the law or the scriptures. And so therefore, the skills of writing and reading were very highly valued. And so throughout the ancient world, there was a class of people called scribes, which were basically people that were trained in reading, writing and transcribing. And because of the importance of that trade, they would often go beyond just secretarial skills, but they would also include things like teaching interpretation and even helping others to understand and regulate the laws that were found in official documents. So in this culture, the class of scribes that had developed were experts in interpreting the law and teaching the scriptures. And that's why they're called the teacher of the law. And so in verse 19, it says, Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go. The teacher of the law has in mind this kind of rabbi teacher relationship and not even teacher, but rabbi disciple relationship, because that goal of that teacher of the law is to continually educate themselves within the context of the law. So that's an admission from this teacher of the law, recognizing that Jesus truly is this amazing rabbi. If he doesn't even recognize the messianic part yet, he recognizes that there's something different about Jesus. And then going down to verse 20, it says the son of man has no place to lay his head so that the teachers of the law would enjoy a high status within that culture. And so Jesus, as a rabbi and as a teacher, he did not have a school. He did not have a synagogue. He had no real place of honor among that religious establishment, if anything. It was the opposite. And so Jesus would stay at the home of friends and relatives and other disciples throughout most of his ministry. That's what we see. He would stay at the home of places like Peter and Andrew while he was in Capernaum. Or we see in the Bible study, I talk about this. He stays with Lazarus and his family, the sisters, Martha and Mary. That expression, he has no place to lay his head. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is homeless, but rather his ministry as this rabbi in this culture would not result in this institutional establishment, meaning he wouldn't have all the benefits and the comforts that the religious leaders of the time would have.

Looking forward to hearing all the good things you're doing with your company, and of course every barbecue is one of my favorite things, so I really want to hear about that. Before we get started, take us back, tell us what you did in the Navy. Thanks, Joe. I appreciate you having me on. I was a Navy corpsman with the Marine Corps. Had the pleasure of serving with, for most of my career, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, and it was some of the best and worst years of my life, for sure, but mostly because of combat. But, you know, an amazing journey and made some really good friends, lifelong friends. Yeah. How many years were you in the Navy? Six years, and pretty much all six years were with the 1st Marine Division. Yeah, wow. Game on from the get -go, huh? How many deployments? I was overseas, I went, deployed to East Timor, that was kind of the first little conflict we were a part of, and that was, gosh, I guess, 1999. Iraq, And then and then got out and, I guess, still had a desire to go back over and then went to work for Blackwater, and that's a whole other chapter of my life. Oh, yeah. Wow. Okay. Awesome. Well, talk about your transition out of the Navy. Was it planned? Did you have a lot of preparation ahead of time, or did you prepare, or was it just something that happened real quick for you? I think that I was ready to get out, but I wasn't quite sure what the long -term effects or short -term effects were of PTSD, and I talk openly about it because I think it's important. I knew I wanted to get out, and I was kind of always an entrepreneur at heart. I always had a lot clearing business or weed eating or something going on when I was little, and realized from a young age that I wanted to bid on the job or I wanted to kind of be my own boss and have more control. When I got out, I had started a mobile auto detail in Orange County, and it was doing pretty good. And then the ordinance said that you can't have any water go down the drain, and so that made it very difficult to have a mobile auto detail and wash cars and not have water go down the drain. So we dealt with mats and things to try to retain the water, and nothing was very efficient. And so I got out and then went to work for a company called Extra Lease. And that was a big Berkshire Hathaway company, big corporation, and I did well on that. I moved up through the ranks, if you will, pretty quick, became an operations manager. But was it a great experience, but I believe that that was something that it was just one more underline of you need to do something, you need to start a business. And ultimately, my wife and I, we decided to come out with a product and go all in with it, and we definitely have, and that's the pit bra cooker today. And so you had never produced a product or sold a product before, but your first idea, the pit barrel cooker, is what you're still selling today. It is, and that's actually the way you frame it up is kind of an interesting lens to look through, because never having an idea of retail. And not only did we go into the retail business, but we jumped in head first and touched every aspect of business and trade, from negotiating the raw material good to the trip that it takes importing it into the United States. We export, we ship all over the world to different distributors. But then once it gets here, the marketing, the development, the operations, logistics, wholesale, retail, distributor model, everything, dealing with the buyers, we handle all of it to the customer service, to it ending up on the consumer store. Yeah. What a learning curve that's been. How long have you been, when was the first idea, the pit barrel cooker? I would say it was right around early 2010, 2009. Oh, okay. I And when started, when my goal, excuse me, I was contracting for Blackwater at the time and overseas, and I thought I was saving my money to go to culinary school. I always loved to entertain and thought I want to open up a restaurant. And everyone said, that's probably the worst way to go, or the easiest way to go broke rather. And they're probably right. And so I said, well, what is it about entertaining and food and cooking that really intrigues me? And that's just the act in doing it. And I could cook anything on a hibachi or any kind of grill, but I thought if we could take the guesswork out and truly make something that's affordable, that we're not gouging the customer and is simple. And our product, I really truly believe is, and if we could do that, maybe we really have something and possibly put some intellectual property behind it and really increase the quality with the coating so it lasts.

as we do each and each and every day here on the channel let's break this baby down Bitcoin kept up renewed pressure on $28 ,000 into the October 8th weekly close as geopolitical uncertainty entered the traders radar here you're looking at the Bitcoin one -hour candle chart data from Cointelegraph and trading view showed Bitcoin price performance avoiding a downside of volatility over the weekend we had Bitcoin slash USD recovering from a snap retest of 27 ,000 a couple of days ago on October 6 thanks to the surprise United States employment data which diverged policy tweaks by the Federal Reserve now the 28 ,000 resistance formed the main point of interest for market participants going into the new week and in the lower timeframes analysis of exchange order books popular trader skew said the major bidding power was still required in order to flip $28 ,000 into support quitting the analysts here so on the long timeframes we can see clearly the market is still trading 28 ,000 as resistance going to require a big spot buyer to crack that area in my opinion perps are shorting every low timeframe bounce into 28 ,000 as well say goodbye to your credit card rewards big -box Dan crypto trades caution the ongoing short Bitcoin should a sudden breakout occur as this might form the start of further upside quitting him here I will say that what Bitcoin sitting around this big 28 ,000 level which has the daily weekly 200 moving average sitting there I am personally not very keen on shorting any deviations above in the past we have often seen a weekend breakout at these kind of spots which tends to not retrace as easily as they otherwise would and we also have an accompanying chart showing around the CME price is best practiced during a ranging and choppy environment we are still in such an environment but that would likely change upon a strong break above this region hence me not being too eager to short immediately in case we'd see a weekend pump I also think you got to be crazy to be shorting Bitcoin at a time like this but that's just me now in the wake of new events in Israel others meanwhile flagged geopolitical instability as a potential Bitcoin price catalyst to come quoting crypto analyst me Cal van de pop now market perspective is going to be a volatile week my idea is that Bitcoin continues the upward grind and potentially reaches $30 ,000 as worldwide uncertainty grows and I am sure you have all seen the devastation of what's happening between Israel and Palestine right now van de pop previously forecasted a trip beyond the 30 ,000 mark in October traditionally Bitcoin strongest calendar month hence why we call it up tober yeah I mean and check out this analysis from Titan a crypto he says Bitcoin 41 ,000 intermediate target in play a bull flag is forming on the two -weekly chart if it were to play out it would catapult the Bitcoin price the $41 ,000 imagine the smell in an environment of gloom and doom announcements well we got to consider Bitcoin is on its own vector anything is possible the current high for this cycle I should say for this year thus far is just south of $32 ,000 I feel once we can recapture that we can head on up to 40 ,000 above and beyond now let's break down some information max Kaiser shared over on X which I'll read out loud here he wrote warmongers can't confiscate your Bitcoin and buy guns and kill people with it that's a fact max also says that no nation once adopting Bitcoin as the legal tender referring to El Salvador has ever gone to war if you want peace go Bitcoin Fiat money always leads to war and violence capisce on confiscate a bull Bitcoin monetizes peace and love facts so shut out to the high priest the Bitcoin max Kaiser so there you have it fam let me know how many of you are currently bullish on that King crypto and now let's break down our next story of the day and that's XRP pro attorney John SPF Deaton slamming sympathizers which is quite interesting as you know the ongoing lawsuit continues and trial in court with SPF attorney and crypto advocate John Deaton criticizes supporters of former C FTX CEO Bankman freed during his ongoing trial related to the crypto collapse FTX in a post Eaton says that those characterizing SPF as a well -intentioned individual who made errors are unfit to manage people's finances facts he suggested that such sympathizers should not be considered for interviews with prominent television shows like CBS's 60 minutes a divide has emerged within the crypto community with some deeply concerned about SPF's alleged investor fraud charges while others attempt to portray him positively in the media very interesting the same media that once called Bankman freed the Michael Jordan of crypto even after FTX is bankruptcy filing SPF continued to participate in interviews and was often depicted as a crypto hero sparking backlash from the web3 community here's the actual tweet from Deaton people who believe SPF fraud is a good guy who made mistakes and FTX grew too fast and it got away from him should never be in charge of other people's money and certainly should never be interviewed by 60 minutes or any other news outlets and yes his parents are 100 % complicit let me know if you agree or disagree with that statement by Deaton I agree 100 % I think his parents knows what's good FTX had successfully recovered over seven billion dollars worth of assets however there is a growing call for SPF his sentences to act as a deterrent for other industry innovators Deaton is also resolute and holding Joseph Bankman and Barbara freed SPF's parents accountable despite FTX's present leadership pursuing a legal case against them no regulatory agency has initiated legal action against SPF's parents I wonder why maybe they're all interconnected Deaton believes that Bankman and freed share full responsibility for their son's alleged crimes a view shared by others in the industry that's why I want to know your thoughts fam let me know in that chat and according to Bloomberg Stanford University decided to return the entirety of donations received by FTX amounting to roughly five point five million dollars and here's your you a pharmacy benefit manager a middleman your insurer uses to decide which medicines you can get what you pay and sometimes even which pharmacy you should go to why can't I go to a pharmacy in my neighborhood because I make more money when you go to a pharmacy I own no one should stand between you and your medicine visit ph RMA org slash middleman to learn more paid for by pharma and I read yesterday that Stephen Curry considered the greatest basketball player of our generation definitely the greatest shooter of all time he was paid he disclosed 35 million dollars from FTX to be an ambassador and in return all he had to do was put in 20 hours worth of promotion over the course of so many years so you can see they were handing out money hand over fist because they can print unlimited amounts of their scam token FTT so it's a damn tragedy we'll see how this plays out a big week ahead in the courts as Caroline Ellison is gonna be testifying against Bankman Freed and we know they also dated I think she is going to throw SPF under the bus because SPF already threw her and Gary Wang under the bus and just the other day Gary Wang also testified against Bankman Freed said he knew damn well what he was doing so there you have it fam how do you think it'll play out for SPF let me know in the comments right down below now let's discuss some more bullish technicals for the king crypto and why a bull run is amongst you know I mean the corner we're about the climb and go parabolic while he followed crypto analysts as the number of high time frame indicators are currently suggesting the bitcoins bear market is over in an expansion upward is imminent send it and let's go I also agree that we likely when we hit that bottom of fifteen thousand seven hundred in the fourth quarter of last year I felt like the bull market started and commenced since then and this year already we're up pretty substantially still up like I don't know something like 60 % or something like that so let's see if we continue to climb higher fam anyways anonymous analyst tech dev tells his followers that Bitcoin is in the same situation now which it was before the 2016 and 2020 bull market kicked off and how many of you were around for the 2016 and 2020 bull markets let me know fam tech dev shares a chart with the monthly candles Bollinger bands and an additional indicator showing the logarithmic width between the bands relative to the 200 months moving average the chart which you can see here in your screen appears to suggest the bitcoins Bollinger bands which measures the relative volatility compressed enough to foreshadow a likely breakout to the upside send it let's go quitting the analysts here what Bitcoin has looked like before heading north can you say deja vu you see those three yellow arrows on your screen you already know the closely followed analyst says that both Bitcoin and the altcoin market are simultaneously jockeying for breakouts he compares Bitcoin with others a chart that measures a market cap of all the crypto assets except for Bitcoin and aetherium and according to the trader Bitcoin established support at the beginning of the long -term bullish impulse while others have broken a downward resistance as outlined in these charts Bitcoin and alts are lining up let's go now earlier in the year tech dev said the Bitcoin had checked the three prong signal which proceeded each of bitcoins for all -time high runs so there you have it fam how many of you are anticipating a new all -time high for the king crypto let me know and how hot do you think we're likely to climb for this cycle peak next up we're gonna be discussing a prediction from the one and only high priest of Bitcoin and that's Max Kaiser projecting his short -term target for Bitcoin of 220 thousand dollars per coin let's break this down and again shut out to the one and only high priest max is a Bitcoin enthusiast and crypto advisor to the president of El Salvador Najee Bokele and recently made the bold prediction of where the Bitcoin price could be heading joining other experts and making some eye -popping guesses in the tweet made on X Kaiser confidently stated he thinks bitcoins price will go up a lot reaching an impressive two hundred and twenty thousand dollars per Bitcoin meanwhile his statement came after reading a CNBC article about the current financial market which is facing some challenges due to worries about the economy and rising prices however he didn't say exactly when this target will happen but eventually Kaiser has had been a big supporter of Bitcoin for quite some time in 2011 he called it the currency of the resistance and one of the biggest stories of the decade so he's ultimately been telling you to buy Bitcoin back since when it was like a dollar insane right how many millionaires are responsible for being created due to Max and Stacy in the Kaiser report let me know fam if you're one of them his recent prediction seems to be based on the idea that the central banks worldwide will print lots of money not surprising right leading to a massive increase in the supply of money that's where Bitcoin comes in it's seen as a way to protect your money from losing value when the prices go up that's right Bitcoin is the ultimate hedge against inflation so apparently not everyone agrees with Max's rosy outlook when it comes to the Bitcoin price action and inflation Nicholas Merton who I would consider a Bitcoin permeable and other experts so -called experts on crypto think the rise in prices could actually be a problem for BTC he suggests that people who control the money might need to do something about it like raising the interest rates which could make it harder for the Bitcoin price to go up we also have Bloomberg analyst Mike McGlone who has shared some concerns he says that if interest rates go up the Bitcoin price might go down and one last thing to keep in mind Bitcoin isn't all by itself it's connected to other things happening in the financial world and when big things happen in regular money or stocks it can affect Bitcoin too so even a Bitcoin is digital and fancy it's still a part of the bigger picture but if you actually do the math what's the alternative where can you park cash right now and not lose 20 % of its value due to inflation or hyper inflation the alternative is gold but gold is a terrible alternative because the gold prices are also manipulated hence why JP Morgan Chase got caught spoofing the precious metal markets and had to pay north of a nine hundred million dollar fine they literally got caught with their hands in the cookie jar so you can't make this stuff up when do you feel that Max Kaiser's 220 ,000 Bitcoin price prediction is likely to come a reality let me know in the comments right down below now let's discuss a 750 to 1 million dollar price prediction and the latest from the bit max co -founder Arthur Hayes and then we'll dive into the latest from Kathy wood of ARK Invest and her one and a half million dollar price target and then we'll wrap up the show with our live Q &A as we do each and every day so here's the latest from Arthur Hayes he says that two key catalysts will spark an epic bull market for the digital asset industry how many of you are ready for this bull run fam make some noise in a new interview with crypto banter Hayes says that the commercialization of artificial intelligence better known as AI and historic money printing by the Federal Reserve better known as money printer go will lead to a massive bull run for the crypto assets quoting Arthur here so I had this thesis I presented at token called 2049 double happiness and it was all about the bull market we are about to experience that we're on the cusp of and it's a combination of the most amount of money ever printed in human history in a two to three year period and the commercialization of AI and how that relates to crypto as the most transformative technological development that has ever happened in human history these two things combined are going to produce the most epic bull market in crypto and just about everything else that's sort of a risky asset around the world and according to Arthur Hayes the economic powerhouses such as the US Europe and China are going to be issuing ridiculous amounts of debt which will work in the favor of digital assets quoting him again I did the research and to how much debt is actually going to be issued by the US China Europe and Japan and it surprised me to the upside it's just so ridiculous how much money is going to be printed over the next two to three years while the central banks try to save the government bond markets that I guess I am just so bullish on Bitcoin certain crypto stocks and so bearish on fiat just because there's going to be an umpteenth more trillions of dollars of it so there you have it fam let me know if you agree or disagree with Arthur Hayes and to watch this video he recently did in this interview check the show notes below the video in the description now let's dive a step deeper as he recently made a very bold prediction as well that the Bitcoin price is likely to soar up to as much as a million dollars within the next three years by the year 2026 that's right in a recent interview Arthur Hayes boldly projected the mind -boggling price range of a 750 to 1 million dollar Bitcoin price by the year 2026 known for his unapologetic and often controversial statements Hayes says once again he caught the attention of the crypto community and when asked about his rationale behind such a staggering forecast he confidently stated the following I think it'll be the biggest boom in financial markets we have ever seen in human history very bold words such a statement may sound hyperbolic to some but considering the meteoric rise Bitcoin over the past decade it is not entirely implausible fact from the bottom 14 years ago to the top of 69 ,000 Bitcoin already appreciated 69 million percent so let's not forget that Hayes pointed out the bitcoins limited supply cap to 21 million coins combined with increase in global demand will inevitably drive his price to unprecedented heights he emphasized that as more institutional investors and corporations enter the space the scarcity of Bitcoin will become even more pronounced leading to a surge and its valuation basic stock to flow supply demand and can you say supply shock incoming there's currently less than 2 million Bitcoin sitting on the exchanges and next year we have two major catalysts which we know are incoming Bitcoin having scheduled to take place in April of 2024 and also the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF so let's freaking go and our next story that day with Kathy wood we're gonna be diving a little deeper into what that looks like and what it equates to for the price action now while some septics argue the bitcoins skeptics argue the bitcoins volatility and regulatory uncertainties could hinder the growth Hayes remains unfazed he believes that the crypto ecosystem matures and regulatory clarity improves Bitcoin will become a staple investment for retail and institutional investors and as the Bitcoin industry continues to evolve and gain mainstream recognition many experts and analysts have offered their projections for the future price of the crypto while authors projection of 750 thousand to 1 million dollars per Bitcoin by the time of 2026 has garnered attention it is essential to consider other general trends and projections in the industry one common trend that experts highlight is the increasing institutional adoption of Bitcoin over the past years major institutions like PayPal square and Tesla have embraced Bitcoin as the legitimate asset class this institutional interest has put as seen a significant driver for the Bitcoin price growth bringing in more liquidity and credibility to the market and of course we now have a dozen applications for major institutions for a spot Bitcoin ETF and another factor that experts consider on the ongoing narrative a Bitcoin is a store value against a hedge for inflation as governments worldwide continue to print fiat currencies at unprecedented rates many individuals and institutions see Bitcoin as a way to protect their wealth from the potential devaluation as Michael Saylor once called it the melting ice cube keeping your hard -earned cash in the bank is no different than watching a melting ice cube melt preach however it's important to note that projecting the Bitcoin price accurately is challenging due to various factors including market volatility regulatory developments technological advancements and macroeconomic conditions which all shape the crypto's future price trajectory therefore it is crucial to cautiously approach any price predictions and projections and consider multiple perspectives when making an investment decision so there you have it now let's break down our featured story of the day and the latest from Kathy wood of arc invest projecting the Bitcoin price is likely to hit one and break this baby down shall we welcome those just joining us and tuning in make sure to say hello in the live chat and at the end of the show I'll read everyone's comments out loud so as you can see here on your screen this is the one and only Kathy wood early Bitcoin adopter and very savvy investor and now u .s. base arc invest last month announced its entry into Europe and said the odds are going up that the Securities and Exchange Commission better known as the SEC will approve her firm's application for the spot Bitcoin ETF let's go now arc invest which last month announced it had acquired the UK base rise ETF to assist with its push into Europe filed an application with the US regulators in April to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF with Switzerland base 21 shares the SEC has yet to approve a string of spot Bitcoin ETF apps that it had received from asset managers including the likes of BlackRock the world's largest invest go fidelity and Vanek we're talking about behemoths last month the SEC delayed its decision on our spot Bitcoin ETF and now has until January 10th of next year to make up its mind quoting her here we're partnering with 21 shares in the United States hoping to launch a Bitcoin ETF and if it's ever approved by the SEC we think the odds are going to go up and that it will be approved wood said during a media a media call three days ago on October 5th the acquisition of rise which manages 450 million dollars across 11 European ETFs gives arc invest directly entry into the European market and a platform from which to launch and distribute products globally the deal which was brokered in just a few months also raised the prospect of arc launching crypto focused products over in Europe UK let's go in the US meanwhile Woods flagship 8 billion dollar arc innovation ETF includes coinbase and block amongst its top 10 holdings what is also one of the biggest Bitcoin champions let's go champs she has previously predicted the Bitcoin price can top 1 million dollars by 2030 and it's currently trading as we know just shy of 28 ,000 there are already several crypto exchange traded products on offering the European investors with firms such as wisdom tree fidelity invest going global X among some of the providers that offer them would say that any crypto focused products would probably see arc invest relying on their expertise a 21 shares rather than trying to create products from scratch however would said she did not anticipate any problems including indirect crypto plays within any product arc invest Europe might roll out in Europe quitting her here my senses there won't be any issue but we are still working through this with our partners who are speaking with the regulators now Stuart Forbes the co -founder of rise ETF said the firm was looking at arcs existing fun lineup into the u .s.

The Crypto Overnighter
A highlight from 691:The Global Crypto Regulatory Landscape: Kraken, Canada, and the UK
"Good evening, and welcome to The Crypto Overnighter. I'm Nick Ademus and I will be your host as we take a look at the latest cryptocurrency news and analysis. So sit back, relax and let's get started. And remember, none of this is financial advice. And it's 10 p .m. Pacific on Friday, October 6th, 2023. Welcome back to The Crypto Overnighter where we have no sponsors, no hidden agendas and no BS. But we do have the news. So let's talk about that. Tonight, we're diving deep into crypto regulation from Kraken's bold move in the Netherlands to the UK's unique stance on crypto governance. We're also examining how stablecoins are faring under the regulatory microscope in Canada and how crypto oversight is evolving in Taiwan and Hong Kong. And don't forget Ripple's critique of the SEC. Strap in, it's going to be a heck of a ride. Kraken is charting a strategic course towards European expansion through the acquisition of Netherlands -based digital asset broker Coinmeester BV or BCN. The decision was announced on October 5th. This was in sync with the EU's Markets and Crypto Assets Regulatory Framework, indicating a well -calculated move to fortify its presence in Europe amidst new regulatory landscapes. The financial intricacies of the deal remain under wraps, yet it's clear that this acquisition is a linchpin for Kraken's European ambitions. The exchange has already nestled itself in several European markets by securing virtual asset service provider licenses in countries like Ireland, Italy and Spain, underlining its intent to broaden its European clientele and adhere to the regional regulatory mandates. The Dutch market is renowned for its robust economy, high cryptocurrency adoption rates and a culture ripe for innovation. That market is key to Kraken's European expansion blueprint. This acquisition aims to leverage the thriving Dutch market to bolster Kraken's standing in Europe, particularly at a time when prominent exchanges like Binance and Gemini have retracted their operations due to stringent regulatory requirements in the Netherlands. The exit of these notable exchanges has seemingly opened the gates for Kraken to establish a robust presence and cater to the crypto -enthusiastic Dutch populace. This strategic acquisition is not merely a market expansion maneuver. It's a symbiotic alliance where both Kraken and BCM clientele stand to gain. BCM recently rebranded from Bitcoin Meester. It boasts a diverse cryptocurrency trading and staking portfolio, extending access to over 170 cryptocurrencies. On the flip side, Kraken, with its seasoned experience in the crypto domain, plans to augment BCM's existing product line, enhance liquidity and escalate security measures for a broader user base. This move is poised to enrich the crypto trading landscape for Dutch traders and fortify Kraken's market position in Europe. Kraken CEO David Ripley captured the essence of this acquisition, specifically the significant market position Kraken aims to secure in the Dutch market, which in turn is expected to broaden its European market share. This acquisition is a testament to Kraken's commitment to making cryptocurrencies more accessible, resonating with the BCM's founding mission. Mitchell Zanwiecken, BCM's long track record in the crypto realm, makes it an exemplary steward for BCM's business moving forward. In a broader perspective, this acquisition is a beacon to Kraken's long -term vision to thrive and grow in the European market, navigating through the regulatory tides and fostering a conducive environment for cryptocurrency trading and adoption. If you're enjoying the deep dive so far, don't forget to like and subscribe for the latest in crypto governance. Now, while Kraken makes strides in the Netherlands, let's shift our attention to stablecoins. Let's find out.

What a Weird Week
A highlight from What a Weird Week Canadian Thanksgiving Special: Ten Ten Again! Fri. Oct. 6, 2023
"What a weird week Canadian Thanksgiving special 1010 again Hi friends, I'm Scott and this is what a weird week a show about the weird news that happened this week for show notes and More visit show notes dot page. That's show notes dot page It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, but instead of taking the week off or even posting a rerun Please enjoy this 10 10 episode where we revisit 10 Former number 10 entries from this podcast and see how they hold up now So here comes season 4 episode 54 10 10s for Thanksgiving first published on Friday, October 6 2023 10 kicking off the top 10 this week number 10 from March 24th 2023 the headline was bonkers carrot caper This happened at the Clearview Mall in Pennsylvania where police caught the suspects charges at the time were Expected pending two people stole a giant foam carrot and a pinata from a mall Easter display in March of this year and when they took off a Security guard was dragged by the getaway truck for around a quarter mile. No one was hurt Thankfully police located the large carrot and the Easter pinata at a home And at the time we hoped there would be some sort of Hollywood treatment because no one got hurt We were like, maybe this should be a movie. All right, how does that one stack up long story short it holds up We haven't had any other giant foam carrot Theft stories on this weird news podcast since that happened in March This is our only weird Easter caper story So that one holds up the follow -up on this is they named the two fellows an 18 year old and a 20 year old And they said they would be charged at a future date They also said because of the nature of the crime they wouldn't be taken into custody. Oh, they were both visiting from, Texas So the anonymous tip came in they found them at a house. The two fellows were visiting from, Texas When they said the nature of the crime, I think what they mean right is it was more of a prank No one got hurt. Although that security guard did get dragged for around a quarter mile behind the getaway vehicle But they weren't taken into custody and then that story goes cold I don't know the follow -up is kind of open -ended what happened next The story just went cold after that 10. The next number 10 was from March 31st of this year It was about the fella the 91 year old fella who crossed the Grand Canyon It's around 24 miles to hike from one edge of the Grand Canyon down through to the other edge This took five days 91 year old fellow named John did it and he got in the Guinness Book of World Records He is the oldest person to ever cross the Grand Canyon. This one holds up no, 92 year old was waiting in the wings to break this record, I guess or hasn't done it yet. So John is still the World record holder is the oldest person to cross the Grand Canyon at the time I remember treating this like an inspirational news story something You know if you've always dreamed of getting in the Guinness Book of World Records But you can never seem to get it right you could never get that Rubik's Cube solved or you know cross the Grand Canyon There are still opportunities as you get older this one You can train until you're 92 years old and then attempt to beat the world record So this one holds up and still inspirational You Are listening to what a weird week It's a show that leans into the weirdness 10 our next entry in our 10 10s Thanksgiving special is from April 7th of this year. How young is the world's youngest published author? That's weird And we went from the oldest person to cross the Grand Canyon one week and the next week We kicked off the show with the young author this was a story about that boy from the United Arab Emirates four years old four years and 218 days old and has a published book called the elephant sayeed and the bear The book is about kindness and an elephant and a polar bear and it is officially a Guinness World Record This person the youngest published author You have to have at least a thousand copies sold to have an official Guinness World Record as a published author this book sold more than a thousand copies and Guinness World Record This story holds up. No one younger than four years old has published a book. Come on slackers. What's going on? In writing three -year -olds to sorry to this one. I did I remember at the time I was maybe in a bad place that week I remember thinking wow once you start kindergarten once you're five years old Strolling into the kindergarten class if you don't have a published book You've failed already because a four -year -old did it That one was not a great take on my behalf. I would say for the aspiring writers When you crunch the numbers the demographics of this the people who listen to this program it cuts off at a certain age So you don't know how many five -year -olds are listening to this podcast But I want to apologize to any five -year -olds listening who want to be a writer and I was like you might as well quit You didn't get the world record. That was a terrible thing to say Continue to pursue your dreams five -year -olds, please continue to write stay with it Let's end on that message 10 next up was our story from April 14th of this year How short is pearl the Chihuahua the shortest dog in the world? And so just to recap from the ground up pearl the pooch is 3 .59 inches tall a little bit taller than 3 .25 or half of a dollar bill or a little bit taller than a credit card Also a can of soup is taller than pearl the pooch Pearl is about as long as a dollar bill five inches long weighs a little bit more than a pound Does this story hold up turns out pearl the Chihuahua was? Actually a person in a suit. It was all fake you guys. No no, the story does hold up and pearl the Chihuahua is still the shortest dog in the world and the photos are still Wonderful if you want to see pearl the pooch and smile click show notes that page is You This the what a weird week show a weekly rundown of weird news 10 if you're just jumping in here We're doing 10 number 10s from past episodes as a Canadian Thanksgiving special and then Going back to see do the story still hold up. Are they still weird? Is it all still a real thing? Did it really happen? Will we be disgraced by reporting something that was completely fake at the time so far so good The next one is how fast can you this one doesn't hold up you guys spoiler alert? How fast can you drink are you ready to set a world record a German man shattered the this is from April? 21st of this year when the German fellow shattered the Capri Sun speed drinking world record 10 .41 seconds finished an entire Capri Sun drink. These are the ones where if you don't have Capri Sun where you're at it's a Bag of drink and you stab it with that pointy straw and you drink the thing Well, that was a nice record while it lasted but just last week We talked about the fellow who now has a Capri Sun speed drinking record of under 10 seconds Eight point something seconds to finish an entire Capri Sun So this story does not hold up from April to last week It was a record but now there's a new champ in town 10 next up from April 28th of 2023 Nudists will feel naked and exposed if cable car over nude beach goes ahead This was a story we had in April from Vienna Where there was a plan for a cable car route to pass over a beach frequented by nudists and it was not a popular thing amongst the nudists a Nudist named Barbara was quoted in the story I don't want to end up on the internet 72 year old Barbara said The developer said the cable car will pass over the beach for hardly any time at all The cable car windows could be the kind that switch to non see -through when the cable car gets close to the beach Anyway, that was the story in April. How does this one hold up at the time? I remember I was like everyone calm down. Keep your pants on nudists. I was very proud of that joke I remember so does it hold up? The last thing I can find about this is from a blogger who says in their blog post not sure if it's a sure thing yet or still in the Possibly could happen stage. So there's not a lot yet. I mean these projects sometimes they take a while You got to get approval. You got to get money all of that and then you got to calm down the nudists There's a lot happening behind the scenes no doubt, but there's not a lot of follow -up yet on this one I've found some video of non nude variety and I will post that in the updated show notes a Weekly countdown of Weirdy McWeird stuff This is the what a weird week show 10 next is from May 5th of 2023 Our number 10 that episode was freaky foot world record. Do not attempt This was about the lady named Kelsey who said a Guinness World Record for her freaky footwork Basically, she can point one foot forwards and the other foot backwards Kelsey is a librarian from New Mexico. Her official world record is most foot rotation for a female She discovered this world record ability at her library when the new Guinness Book of World Records came out She's flipping through she saw the foot record in there and she was like, I wonder if I could do that She did and she could get more Flexibility or more whatever She could be going in both directions more. So however you word it. I'm not sure anyway, this story holds up this one is still a Guinness World Record and Please if you're going to attempt it stretch consult a physician I just feel like you could try this one Maybe you're having a couple of wobbly pops or something at a Canadian Thanksgiving party this weekend And you're like, I'm gonna try that world record and you haven't warmed up enough or whatever Maybe your feet would stick that way. How are you gonna get around now? Please do not attempt 10 next number 10 was from May 12 2023. How excited are you about printed fish? That was our headline from May the company in Israel has 3d printed fish It's not meal ready fish you print it out and then you have to cook it fish fillet they start with lab -grown grouper fish and They turn that into some sort of edible filament for a 3d food printer That was kind of how I described it at the time I you know, it's oversimplification But you get the picture lab -grown printable fish could save the environment could save real fish could save all of us Like the other lab -grown meats they're trying to get enough food for everyone Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone all of the humans had enough to eat that would be good, right? They said they wanted this to be available for purchase next year at the time. I described it as white goo It looks like white goo. I stand by that. It does look like white goo and how does it taste? Well, unfortunately our website when you click our show notes, we do not have that capability I know I should be upgrading to Squarespace. I get it. But right now our show notes blog Does not have lick the screen capabilities so that you can taste what the printable fish would taste like So is this story fishy or does it hold up? I say it holds up I mean, we're still at the place where they're trying to get regulatory approval get through all the hoops You got to jump through and then by the end of 2024, they hope to have it available You know, you could have it on your plate by next year. That's where we're at with this one So I say it holds up. I've been voting all of these hold up haven't I mostly Maybe I'm biased Recapping the weird ones from this week's news. The Bitboy Crypto Podcast
A highlight from Interest Rates CRUSHING Home Owners! (Bitcoin A Better Investment?)
"Good morning, everybody. It is time to discover crypto. It's October 5th. It is 10 .31am. It took us a minute to get there, but we finally got there, guys. We got Tim and Druth on the ones and twos. Yes. How are y 'all doing today? Yeah, I'm doing fantastic. Did you enjoy your little bit of time off? You had Rodney filling in for you. I mean, were you able to accomplish a lot? Were you getting your lifts in? You're just doing like all core lifts, right? Yeah, pretty much. If I'm not on camera, I'm probably lifting something. No, Rodney was amazing. Cannot wait to have him back. If you guys love Rodney, put a one in chat. I don't know what the future looks like exactly, but I think that you might see a lot more Rodney here on this channel. Guys, we're going to talk about inflated housing today. We're going to talk about Bitcoin. It looks like it's got a little bit of a pump lately, too. We're going to talk about the house speaker a little bit there. Will it be Trump? I don't think so. I'm putting it pretty low odds there. Also, some DeFi stuff. And real quick, Tim, what is your deadlift? My deadlift? Right now, probably hovering around 600. Yes. Back in the day, about 750. Alright, guys. Yeah, y 'all didn't know Tim Lifts, man. He's hiding behind the hoodie. Why aren't you wearing the XRP hoodie, the dripping paint XRP hoodie? That's going to take us right into here. Make sure you check it out. It's at HitMerch .com. If you go to the website, it's just sitting there right at the very tippy top there. We also got the trucker hat. We'll rock the trucker hat for a little bit. I might take it off in a bit. We got the trucker hat. We got the drip, the paint drip hoodie. Also got a t -shirt. Me, personally, I think I'd rock. I don't know, man. I feel like if you go all drip paint, it's a little too much. I think I'd go with the white with this on top and then maybe that right there. But how about that Drew shirt there? That's a good one. This is huge. Yeah. Drew, is that a pit terrier? That's actually, it looks like a Caney Corso. I got a Caney Corso at my house. I'll tell you what. I met a guy in Denver that was wearing that shirt. We might need to rebrand and start putting on Commander that shirt. Oh my God. Commander's violent. Okay. Okay. He's talking about Joe Biden's dog got kicked out of the White House last night. Oh no. No. Did it? I didn't know that. The dog got kicked out of the White House. He bit too many people. He bit too many people. Is it going through dementia? Because oftentimes when you're in dementia, you get easily aggravated. Possibly. Similar to what you saw Feinstein do and some other geriatric politicians. I was worried about Joe. What if he got Joe by the hand? I mean, he's frail. He could toss him around like a rag doll. I mean, it would be like when your grandparents gets a bruise. You see it two months later and you're just like, it just makes you think of mortality. All right. Let's look at the crypto market cap here, everybody. We are up and we're moving up. Crypto face was in a long, I knew it was going to be a good day. We're coming in at 1 .4 % to the upside, coming in at $1 .1 trillion, which is US debt every hour. I'm kidding. It's not that high. Also, we have 24 hour volume coming in at 34 billion Bitcoin dominance. Moving up, Tim. It is now at 48 .1. Are you feeling good? Yeah. I mean, again, it's taking longer than I thought it would, which is still leading me to believe I'm staying in the bed. I'm a little worried about 60%. I think 57 is probably a more realistic area, but I feel good. I think there's still a chance. 11 people were bitten according to the person with 4 .2 chain link. All right. And for a derma roller. All right. You know what? I'm taking the hat off now. I'm going to derma roll tonight just for you. My day, let's see. I like the DZ hoodie more than I like suspender DZ. Chad, what do you know? What do you think? Let me know here. I think I might try to do suspenders tomorrow though. So maybe we'll go back. What if you did suspenders over the hoodie? Oh, I like that.

A highlight from Uniswap V3 Contracts Live On zkSync Era
"Welcome to your Ethereum news roundup, here's your latest for Thursday October 5th, 2023. Uniswap v3 contracts go live on zksync era, party protocol deploys on base, open zeppelin releases contracts version 5 .0, and favor raises a 7 million dollar seed round. All this and more starts right now. Uniswap v3 contracts have been deployed on zksync era, with the first implementation featured on OkuTrade, a DeFi trading platform developed by GFX Labs. Partially funded by a grant from the Uniswap Foundation, OkuTrade serves as a user interface for Uniswap, offering a sex -like experience for traders. OkuTrade features order books, price and depth charts, and trading history. The launch on zksync era includes initial trading pairs for USDC and Ether and USDC and Wrapped Bitcoin. OkuTrade has just over $400 ,000 in TVL on zksync era, an EVM compatible zk rollup. zksync era is the fourth largest rollup by Total Valley Lock. Party protocol, an on -chain group coordination platform, launched on base mainnet. The protocol allows users to pull funds towards a shared objective and distribute ownership via membership NFTs. Participants can then propose and vote on how collective funds are distributed or spent. While the protocol is live on Ethereum mainnet, its expansion to base enhances accessibility with reduced transaction fees. Users on base can now crowdfund, create membership NFTs, pull assets for NFT purchases, and host both public and private on -chain parties. OpenZeppelin released Contracts version 5 .0, a major update to its Solidity library for Ethereum and EVM chains. The release introduces a simplified codebase, enhanced security features, and optimizations for reduced gas usage. It integrates modern best practices like the use of namespaced storage conforming to ERC -7201. The update includes fuzzing and formal verification rules for testing protocols. Tooling enhancements have also been made to the OpenZeppelin Contracts wizard. Contracts version 5 .0 is natively integrated with OpenZeppelin's Defender security platform and is accessible in hardhat and foundry development environments. And lastly, Favor, a Web3 social app built on LAN's protocol, raised a $7 million seed round at an $80 million valuation, according to TechCrunch. The mobile app allows users to sign up via email, create content, and monetize their profiles while maintaining ownership. Favor plans to use the fresh capital to onboard new team members, further development, and form ecosystem partnerships. In other news, Circle deploys its cross -chain transfer protocol on BaseTestnet, Wallet Connect releases its Verify API, Conduit announces partner integrations, and Fracks releases its v3 docs. This has been a roundup of today's top news stories in Ethereum. You can support this podcast by subscribing and following us on Twitter at ethdaily. Also subscribe to our newsletter at ethdaily .io. The Breakdown
A highlight from SBF Defense: "Blame Caroline! Also He's a Nerd."
"Welcome back to The Breakdown with me and LW. It's a daily podcast on macro, Bitcoin and the big picture power shifts remaking our world. What's going on, guys? It is Thursday, October 5th, and today we are talking all about the opening arguments in the early witnesses in the SBF trial. Before we get into that, however, if you are enjoying The Breakdown, please go subscribe to it. Give it a rating, give it a review, or if you want to dive deeper into the conversation, come join us on the Breakers Discord. You can find the link in the show notes or go to bit .ly slash breakdown pod. Hello friends, happy Thursday. As I mentioned a couple days ago when we did a primer on this trial, I am very much hoping that the SBF coverage will not be every day throughout the course of the entire four to six weeks of the trial. In conversations with you guys, most of you wanted a comprehensive update every couple of days, and I think that that's right. Now the challenge is, of course, that right now, especially with it having just started and hearing these early arguments, it is really by far and away crowding out every other story in the crypto space. So much so that I actually think that we're going to start to see some take out the trash type stories. In other words, stories that people have to get out there but they want buried be released over the next couple days. For example, I think I just read that Ledger had some cuts, something like 12 % of their staff. That's exactly the type of story that you're going to get as everyone's paying attention over here to the crazy courtroom drama happening in Lower Manhattan. So given all that, today is an SBF trial day, and effectively we're going to do a play -by -play of the first couple days and then try to understand what it says about the case to come. Now technically things started on Tuesday with jury selection, but that actually wasn't finished by the time that court adjourned on Tuesday night. Because of that, Wednesday's hearing began with the final stage of jury selection. All in all, 12 jurors were selected, 9 women and 3 men, along with 6 alternates. The jury features a range of white collar and blue collar workers with the majority over 40 years old. One juror that some have noted is a 68 year old retired investment banker who worked at Salomon Brothers. Some speculate that he might have the financial knowledge to help understand and interpret some of the more complicated parts of the case for his fellow jurors. Now when it comes to what people thought of the jury selection, former convict, pharmaceutical entrepreneur and now AI entrepreneur Martin Shkreli has taken a deeply personal interest in this case for reasons that he has said he's not going to divulge. But what he's said about the jury selection is this, SBF jury analysis, disaster. He then goes through person by person making comments like, the social worker will convict, the not -for -profit fundraiser will convict, corrections officer is going to convict, you have to be kidding me. In fact, all in all, Martin thinks that there is only one juror, that former banker, who might be able to convince the rest of the jury that Sam might be innocent. But of course, that would rely on the defense's argument actually carrying any weight. So from jury selection, the hearing moved on to opening statements. Each party laid out a summary of their cases and foreshadowed the evidence that they would present during the trial beginning with the prosecution. Assistant US Attorney Thane Ren began by stating that Sam's wealth in the FTX empire was a house of cards which was built on lies. Underneath the facade of wealth, power, and influence, the prosecutor said quote, He was committing a massive fraud, taking billions of dollars from thousands of victims. He had started FTX. He told customers it was safe, but he was taking their money and spending it. Ren claimed that Sam spent it on himself as well as on political contributions, leaving his customers with billions in losses. The prosecutor went on explaining the business of a crypto exchange, noting that they are quote supposed to make money by taking a fee, not by taking the customer's money. Ren asserted that Sam used his trip to Congress in early 2022 to publicly claim that FTX was trustworthy, that it did not mishandle customer funds. Moving on to Sam's affiliated trading firm, Alameda Research, the prosecutor characterized it as a business which had some big wins as well as some major losses. Ren explained that Sam handed control of Alameda to his quote on and off girlfriend, obviously referring to Alameda CEO Carolyn Ellison, who will be a key witness in the case. And yet, despite handing the reins to Carolyn nominally, the prosecutor claimed, quote, he was using her as a front. In reality, he was still calling the shots. Ren went on, Alameda had secret access to FTX assets. Once Alameda had it, the defendant could spend it as he pleased. Ren explained that there were two methods for Alameda to access customer funds. Quote, first, customers sometimes deposit dollars on FTX. The company would tell them it was in their accounts, but it never made it to FTX. He set up a bank account linked to Alameda. He lied to the bank to set up an Alameda bank account. Then he lied to the customers. He took billions of dollars without their consent or approval. The customers had no way to know. The second way Ren said was, quote, From there, the prosecutor laid out a rough summary of excuses, which are likely to be presented by Sam. That there was money left in FTX when it declared bankruptcy. That more customers would have returned. That lending customer assets was a legitimate part of operating an exchange. And yet the prosecution case will center on the lies and the secrecy behind the transactions.

Markets Daily Crypto Roundup
A highlight from Crypto Update | Bitcoin vs. Oil Price Fundamentals
"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group. It's Thursday, October 5th, 2023, and this is Markets Daily from Coindesk. My name is Noelle Acheson, Coindesk collaborator and author of the Crypto as Macro Now newsletter on Substack. On today's show, we're talking about the market reset, crypto funding, the oil price, and more. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice. Just a reminder, Coindesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now, a markets roundup. Crypto seems to be on the move again. After gently climbing most of yesterday, Bitcoin started out indecisive today, first heading down and then turning around. Things got more heated as the US market woke up, however. Early this morning, Bitcoin jumped on no clear catalyst, almost hitting $28 ,000 again. According to Coindesk Indices, at 10 a .m. Eastern Time, Bitcoin was up almost 2 % over the past 24 hours, trading at $27 ,943. Ether was up 0 .03%, trading at $1 ,640. Reported exchange data is starting to show an uptick in spot trading volumes. On a seven -day moving average, however, volumes are still lower than in August. And according to crypto market data provider Keiko, liquidity has not yet improved. In this case, liquidity is measured by market depth, which is the ability of the market to absorb large orders without moving the price. Moving on to signals in the macro market. Yesterday, we got the latest data from the ISM services report. ISM stands for the Institute of Supply Management, which conducts a monthly survey of purchasing managers in more than 15 non -manufacturing industries. You may recall that on Monday, the ISM manufacturing report came in better than expected. The services data we got yesterday covers a much broader segment of the economy. Manufacturing, after all, only accounts for around 12 % of activity in the US. The services data is telling a different story. The manufacturing data showed a slowing contraction, which is good news. The services data shows a slowing expansion, which is not so good. This could be behind the lower than expected private company employment increase we talked about yesterday. Month -to -month private employment data, however, tends to be noisy. A more significant figure will be the official rate of unemployment out tomorrow. Consensus forecasts are pointing to a slight decrease from August's 3 .8%. In traditional assets, the tension of the past few days took a welcome breather yesterday. Bond deals corrected, with the US tenure back down to just above 4 .7%. This is still high, but it's not quite as alarming as the 4 .9 % we almost saw earlier this week. This move down helped US stock indices to recover yesterday. NASDAQ led the way with a gain of over 1 .3%, with the S &P 500 up 0 .8%, and the Dow Jones up 0 .4%. Today looks more somber, however. Although US yields continue to trend lower, all US indices opened down. It looks like yesterday's breather was just that – a breather rather than a recovery. Economic data is still sending mixed signals, and investors are nervous.

Well, the <Speech_Male> next day, <Speech_Male> we got a <Speech_Male> report that someone <Speech_Male> had gone to <SpeakerChange> visit him, <Silence> <Speech_Male> and he <Silence> <Speech_Male> decided he wanted <Speech_Male> prayer, <Silence> and <Speech_Male> he accepted <Speech_Male> Jesus as a <Speech_Male> savior and got saved. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> So you <SpeakerChange> see, our <Speech_Male> estimation, <Speech_Male> think about the thief on the <Speech_Male> cross. <Speech_Male> The thief on the <Speech_Male> cross is there, <Speech_Male> cussing Jesus, <Speech_Male> making <Speech_Male> fun of Jesus <Speech_Male> with the other thief, <Speech_Male> and then as he's <Speech_Male> dying on the <Speech_Male> cross, <Speech_Male> it's too late <Speech_Male> for him to be religious <Speech_Male> too late for him <Speech_Male> to get baptized too <Speech_Male> late for him to do <Speech_Male> anything. <Speech_Male> No good works are <Speech_Male> possible at this point. <Speech_Male> He's dying <Speech_Male> on the cross, <Speech_Male> and he <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> realizes that Jesus <Speech_Male> is the messiah. <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> he says, lord, <Speech_Male> remember me <Speech_Male> when you come into your kingdom. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Which is not even a theologically <Speech_Male> correct <Speech_Male> sinner's prayer. <Speech_Male> But he says, lord, <Speech_Male> remember me when <Speech_Male> you come into your kingdom <Speech_Male> and Jesus says, <Speech_Male> today, <Speech_Male> you will be <Speech_Male> with me in Paradise. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> you see, <Speech_Male> we need to <Speech_Male> keep <Speech_Male> preaching the gospel <Speech_Male> to <Speech_Male> our loved ones <Speech_Male> and Friends and inviting <Speech_Male> them <Speech_Music_Male> to come to <Speech_Male> Christ. <Speech_Music_Male> Because <Speech_Male> God <Speech_Male> doesn't give up on <Speech_Male> people, even in the <Speech_Male> tribulation. And <Speech_Male> so we need <Speech_Male> to be like the tribulation <Speech_Male> saints <Speech_Male> and fall <Speech_Male> of God and <Speech_Male> what he's doing <Speech_Male> and not give up. <Speech_Male> We need to preach <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> gospel and warn <Speech_Male> centers to repent <Speech_Male> and believe <Speech_Male> the gospel <Speech_Male> until the very end. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Let's go to the lord and prayer. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Heavenly father and thank you <Speech_Male> for these people. <Speech_Male> I thank you for the gospel <Speech_Male> of the lord Jesus <Speech_Male> Christ, the good news. <Speech_Male> That <Speech_Male> Christ died for our <Speech_Male> sins <Speech_Male> and was buried in rose <Speech_Male> from the dead and that <Speech_Male> we can be <Speech_Male> saved through faith <Speech_Male> in him. We praise <Speech_Male> your name for that and <Speech_Male> we do pray <Speech_Male> that if there's anyone <Speech_Male> here who's not saved that <Speech_Male> they will believe in Jesus <Speech_Male> Christ and <Speech_Male> receive him <Speech_Male> as their personal <Speech_Male> savior and have their life <Speech_Male> changed today. <Speech_Male> And we do <Speech_Male> pray if we <Speech_Male> have loved ones, Friends, <Speech_Male> relatives, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> people we love <Speech_Male> very dearly, <Speech_Male> who are not safe, <Speech_Male> we pray <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> you'll encourage <Speech_Male> us to keep sharing <Speech_Male> the gospel because <Speech_Male> eventually <Speech_Male> it'll break <Speech_Male> through. <Speech_Male> And many of these <Speech_Male> people that were praying <Speech_Male> for will get saved. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> If we don't give up. <Speech_Male> So we pray that we <Speech_Male> would keep <Speech_Male> witnessing. <Speech_Male> We ask it in the <Speech_Male> name of the lord Jesus <Speech_Male> Christ, the <SpeakerChange> name above <Speech_Male> every name. Amen. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> We'll stand in Sega verse of amazing grace.

"And we see that from the martyrs and it said there were so many martyrs that no man could count them. And so there are lots of people getting saved, but there are people that refuse to get saved. There are people in the tribulation that will take the mark of the beast. They will refuse to get saved. And there are people preaching to them, these evangelists going out, preaching to them, and telling them you need to repent, you need to turn to Christ, and we'll see that later in this chapter. And they keep rejecting it. So these locusts, these demonic creatures come, and they are attacking these people. And to them, it was given that they should not kill them. But that they should be tormented 5 months and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he strike a man. Daniel imagined they say a scorpion bite is one of the most painful things in the world. And so you can imagine this 5 months being tormented by these bites. Are these stings, brother? And in those days shall men seek death and shall not find it. And she'll desire to die and death shall flee from them. Demons usually afflict the mind. They can't afflict the body, but they usually afflict the mind. You know, you look at the description of the maniac of good dare. He had thousands, possibly, of demons, and they would cause him to throw himself into the fire. Well, they were driving him crazy. They were afflicting his mind. And because these creatures afflict men with a painful sting for 5 months and because men are not able to die, though they want to. It's possible, I'm not saying this is what it is because we really don't know. But it's possible that this is excruciating mental torment that they are tormenting these people's minds.

"5th angel sounded and John says I saw a star fall or that had fallen from heaven unto the earth and to him was given the key to the bottomless pit. Now, while this could refer to any fallen angel, what angel specifically does the Bible refer to has fallen. Luke, TN 18, Jesus said unto them I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. So this fallen angel could refer to Satan or to an angel who fell with him. In the book of Isaiah, there's a more detailed description of Satan's fall. Go to Isaiah 14 versus 12 through 15. And in this speech, the remaining Jews are taunting the king of Babylon. Who has been brought down from his lofty throne, but many CA picture here of the fall of Satan as well, even though this is directed towards the king of Babylon. And so Isaiah 1412 through 15. How art thou fallen from heaven a Lucifer son of the morning. How art thou cut down to the ground, which its weakened the nations. For thou hast said in my heart, I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit also up on the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds. I will be like the most high. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell to the sides of the pit. So in chapter 9, we have a fallen angel, a star, and he is given a key to the bottomless pit. Now, we'll take a look at this pit. And that brings us to verse two, the deep, the deep. And he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose a smoke out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

"We'll be looking at the 5th and 6th trumpets this morning revelation 9, the whole chapter versus one through 21. And by way of introduction in chapter 8 of revelation, we saw the 7th seal opened. And this brought a new series of judgments that pertain to the latter part of the tribulation before Christ return. We saw 7 angels blowing 7 trumpets and these trumpets announced the judgments. And so far, we have seen flaming hailstones destroying the earth's vegetation, a great mountain like thing, probably a meteorite falling to earth, burning with fire and killing a one third of sea life. A store falling and breaking up in the atmosphere and spreading poisonous gases, making the water better. And one third of the sun stars and moon going dark, which is a which was a miraculous work of God's judgment. So the last verse of chapter 8 is an introduction to chapter 9, and so we'll read revelation 8 13 and the word of God says that I beheld and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven saying with a loud voice woe woe woe to the inhabitants of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels which are yet to sound. So there's three more coming. And we're going to look at two of those today. Now, when it says, I beheld and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, many translations read eagle, rather than angel, and this is because they were translated from a different text than the authorized version. And whether it is an angel or an eagle, the announcement is made that three woes are coming to the inhabitants of the earth. This phrase in habits of the earth appears in the book of revelation in speaks of the unsafe population of the earth. It's not talking about safe people on the earth. It's talking about the unsaved. And these judgments will come up on them if they do not repent. This chapter, chapter 9 begins with another falling star in the last chapter, a star exploded over the earth. It fell and exploded. And here a star falls or rather has fallen to earth. But this star is not a heavenly body of gas, but it is an angel. If we go back to the book of job to the Old Testament, God when speaking to Joe, talked about the creation of the earth.

"Next business war, Taylor Swift versus Scooter Braun. This is a great season of business wars. What's your favorite Taylor Swift song? The listeners need to know. Oh boy. That's hard because I really have a lot of respect for Taylor Swift and feel awful that when she got who she started out, I regret to say that I wrongfully dismissed her because of the hike that was surrounded. I mean, everyone was falling over themselves about Taylor Swift. And this was at a time when she was transitioning from her success in country music to her pops sensation. That she's become. It would be a bad answer to say bad blood. I don't think so at all. I mean, to me that that one really resonated with me and it made it such a big impression. My kids were listening in the back seat of the truck. And they loved to sort of turn me on to music because they know how much I really love music. And that was the song that they used to pry away my resistance. It was bad blood. So it's got a certain sentimental significance to me. So I guess I'd have to say that. That's great. So our final question of this segment. What is your favorite season of business wars? I know it's hard to pick, it's like picking a favorite child in that we all do it privately, but don't want to do it publicly. But the one that maybe you have the most fun working on, or maybe the one where you learned the most. That's a hard one because you're right. You're right about the sort of the analogy of the kids, except if my kids are listening, I do not actually have a favor. That was Josh talking. And I'm free to say that because I don't have any kids. I can just judge. I think that maybe I have a special fondness for Gibson versus vendor. What I really liked about that season in particular was that I didn't know a whole lot of the backstory I knew the little bits and pieces of it and I love the idea of two companies that did head to head battle and are still doing head to head battle, but not cutthroat. That there is room enough in the marketplace. It's not a zero sum game, in other words. It's always. You know what I mean? It's not you have a winner and a loser. You can have two winners, and I would say that despite the ups and downs of both companies and because I know both brands and love them both for different reasons, I really love the Gibson versus fender series. What a lovely answer. And I think that's a perfect place to conclude our episode. David Brown is the host of the award winning podcast business wars. I'm Josh gondelman, host of this one segment of the award winning podcast business wars. Thank you for joining me. Should I should I hang up now? Josh, you were priced us. Thank you so much for doing this. Thank you so much, David. This was so much fun. As we wrap up our 5th anniversary program, I was trying to think of the perfect words to say because if I said what's in my heart, it might sound a little, I don't know. Like the sort of thing you might say on the anniversary of a podcast. And long about that time, I got a message from a listener that touched me in a way, well, so many of your stories do. It was from a listener in Kentucky. I want to read you her message slightly edited for privacy. And then I'll read you my reply. The subject line, your podcast is our bonding time. Hello, my girls 12 and ten asked me to find a way to contact you. Business wars is given us a chance to really bond after my divorce. I was the sole breadwinner, so I was always working. This show has given me the chance to talk to them about how business works and how company culture can impact the final product. After every series, my daughters and I do a taste test to compare the two companies and to decide if the one we would rather work for has the product we prefer. My younger one age ten always asks what the new series is for our weeks together. She keeps hoping you'll do lysol versus Clorox. Again, I want to thank you for all of the special memories your work has given. My girls and me. Signed, a listener in Kentucky. And here's what I wrote back. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading your message just now and tell your daughter what an awesome suggestion. Lysol versus Clorox would make a great series. I'll share that idea with our production team. I'm genuinely touched by you reaching out and sharing how you and the girls listen to the podcast and make the concept come alive. How creative and fun. And as a dad myself, well, I can't think of many things more precious than those moments of connection. Those are forever. To be a small part of those memories means more than I can say. When we record business wars, I try to imagine visualize the listeners out there because I find it helps with the performance of a script in a rather solitary studio. Your message is a gift to me. I'll be thanking you all when I next get behind the microphone. From Austin and Los Angeles and Boston in San Francisco from all the places where our team members work so hard on business wars each week. Warm wishes to you and the girls. And thanks again for reaching out. And if you have more ideas for episodes, we'd love to hear them. Yours truly, David. And you know, I might say the same thing to you right now as you're listening in your car on the way to work or coming home on your walk in the park on the train at the gym or wherever you might be right now. In ways big and small, you've made business wars something special. I think of you as part of the family. And you made this journey more precious than any of us could have imagined 5 years ago. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. From wondery, this is business war's 5th anniversary special. Next time on business wars, we look at the multi-million dollar weight loss industry. Companies like Jenny Craig and weight watchers went from 80s fads to mainstream successes, but as unintended health risks start to appear customers get fed up. We'll see you next time for episode one of diet wars. I'm your host David Brown. Emily frost and Kelly Kyle produced this episode, Kieran Lowe is our senior producer and editor. "Back up about seventy years henry. The eighth was the king of england and his wife. The spanish and very catholic catherine of aragon wasn't able to provide him a son and heir. Actually she had three sons and three daughters but none of them survived more than a month. Save for her daughter. Mary in order to have the son he wanted. He petitioned the pope to get his marriage annulled so he could get married again. The pope was having none of this. So in fifteen thirty four he did. What any monarch would do in a similar situation. He started his own religion with himself at the head so he got married again and again and again and again and again. When henry created the church of england he made being catholic. A treasonable offence confiscated ultra property. And there were many executions. After he dies his daughter. Mary eventually takes thrown who is catholic and she restored catholicism as the state religion and she executed many protestants then married is and she's replaced by half sister. The protestant elizabeth who wants again makes the church of england the official religion and makes it compulsory to both catholics and other protestants alike. Most of those other. Protestants became a we call. The puritans elizabeth is on the throne for a very long time. Forty four years. In during that time catholics are forced to practice their religion underground. She dies in sixty. Three and the next in line was the scottish king. James sixth who was also a protestant. Initially james wasn't as dramatic as elizabeth henry. Before him he had a catholic wife and he was more lenient towards catholics. However this quickly began to change james had tried to juggle different demands from different groups and he tended to favor the puritans over the catholics there was a plot discovered against james in mid sixteen. O three called the bye plot. Where a group of catholics and puritans conspired to kidnap james and take him to the tower of london in february sixteen. Four james denounces. Utter detestation of catholicism kicks out all the priests and once again cracks down on the catholics. It was in this environment that the gunpowder plot was hatched. The catholics didn't wanna just sit around and hope for change or keep taking it on the chin. They wanted to do something. The organizer of the gunpowder plot was a catholic named robert katz b. Cats be had been persecuted under elizabeth and dropped out of university to avoid taking an oath to the church of england. His plan was pretty simple at the opening of parliament. When the king would be in attendance they would ignite a whole bunch of gunpowder. Below the house of lords and blow up the king his ministers senior bishops with the church of england and everyone in parliament then according to the plan with the death of james his eldest daughter elizabeth who was eight years old would be placed on the throne brought up catholic in married off to another catholic cats. Be by all accounts was very charismatic. I manage to recruit several other people into his plot. Cats be. I recruited thomas. Winter winter was a well. "All these other people with these counts that have been hiding so that they don't have to pay taxes so that we can hold them accountable. You know, if you as the average person figure out how you can hide your money from the government and they find out about it, they will crush you and they will put you in prison. But nobody wants to say anything about these filthy rich people in our country that are doing that and getting away with it in these offshore accounts. That should have never been allowed in the first place because it was only established specifically to allow rich people to hide their assets. And that is bullshit. I don't get to get away with that in my taxes. So they shouldn't either. Yes, what kinds of says pendo purpose show the wealthy hearting trillions. Not only that, you know, Donald Trump's name is on there. Well, I mean, very well, could be. And you know that Mitch McConnell and Joe Manchin, their names are on that. The Kavanaugh's names on there. Well, you know what, when you're talking about somebody like Joe Manchin, nothing would surprise me now. You know, I mean, we now know that Joe Manchin over the course of the last ten years has basically received over $5 million in dividends from coal companies. Joe Manchin doesn't give a shit about us. You know, and that's the thing is these things coming out will start to paint a real picture of who these people are. You know, I can't do Jack shit about the prime minister of the Czech Republic. I can't do Jack shit about the person that's connected to Vladimir Putin that does this yet. Because at the end of the day, they're not friendly assets of America. But we in the United States of America need to know the names of every single person in this country who has been hiding their assets and their money to not pay their fair share in taxes. And then they need to be made to pay their fair share in taxes. And then we should create laws to make this illegal for what they're doing, because that's absolute bullshit. You know, they take their money and they hide it so they don't have to pay taxes. I don't get to do that. You don't get to do that. And nobody right now that's on this podcast gets to do that. But once again, when you're at a certain level in terms of wealth, apparently you're allowed to get away with stealing from our government. And that shit needs to stop. Are they going to release the American names that are on that? Well, I would assume that that's what's got to be next. I mean, right now they've already talked about certain people from other countries, but this is over 330 people that are absolutely some of the richest people on the face of the earth. And, you know, we need to know. And oh, by the way, I mean, you know, if king Abdullah from Jordan is buying properties in the United States of America, you know, I mean, I'm at the point where like, you know, you got people from other countries coming in here, buying up our land? I mean, you know, what about Americans? You know, I mean, this is stuff that's being allowed it's really a bunch of bullshit. And it shouldn't be allowed. And if Mitt Romney is on the look anybody, anybody in the United States of America, if they're a member of Congress, if they are an actor of musician, I don't give a shit. Nobody should have the ability to basically hide their assets and get away with pay it without paying taxes..

In case you've just discovered civilization after being in the wilderness for the last half century. The beatles were a four person band of liverpool england. The band members were george harrison on lead guitar. John lennon on rhythm guitar. Paul mccartney on bass guitar and richard starkly a k a ringo starr on drums. After lennon mccartney and harrison played together for a few years they formed the beatles in nineteen sixty and in nineteen sixty three. They took the world by storm. In what became known as beatle mania as i noted in the introduction in one thousand nine sixty four new york deejay jokingly called himself the fifth. Beatle do work in promoting the band on his radio. Show after that the phrase the fifth beatle began being used to describe other people who are associated with the band or who had a part to plan their success. So who are the people who were described as the fifth beatle. The first person on the list would have to be the person who is actually a member of the band and was in the beatles. Pete best pete. Best was the original drummer for the beatles before ringo starr. He joined the band in nineteen sixty as they were about to set off for their hamburg tour where they would do shows in nightclubs. He was with the band for about two years until they got a producer more and him later and began doing studio work. Best wasn't really considered the best drumming and they felt they would need to bring in a drummer with more experienced to do studio work while best was good on stage and was well liked by their small group fans. Ultimately the other band members decided that recording was more important to take the band to the next level. Best was dismissed by the beatles manager brian epstein on the sixteenth of august nineteen sixty two. He was supposed to play his last game in the evening of the sixteenth but he never showed up another local drummer. Johnny hutchinson was called up to play that night. He was actually offered the job of the beatles drummer but turned it down because he was best friends with pete best they hired another local drummer. Ringo starr and the rest is history. Best one said quote. Lots of people have laid claim to being the fifth. Beatle i was the fourth unquote leave it or not. Just on the basis of live recordings in hamburg that he took part in. He became a millionaire. Just off those royalties another candidate for the fifth. Beatle would be the person who was quite literally the fifth person in the band. Stuart sutcliffe the beatles when originally formed had five members not for the original bass player. Was stuart sutcliffe sutcliffe was primarily an artist who had purchased his bass guitar. After selling a painting you got into the ban. Because he was friends with john lennon you played at the group in hamburg but was unquestionably the worst musician of the bunch. When the band returned to liverpool in nineteen sixty one st cliffs stayed behind and died at the age of twenty one. Soon after from a brain aneurysm cliff was the first in the group to where a mop top haircut which became the group's signature during beatlemania and he was probably the person who came up with. The name of the band is image. Can be seen in the background on the cover of the sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band album is on the far left. Best and sutcliffe were the only two other people who could lay claim to being former members of the band however there were other musicians who played the beatles who have also had the moniker fifth. Beatle applied to them. After sutcliffe left the band to return to art school in hamburg. They needed someone to fill in on bass by they finish their hamburg gigs. They recruited a local german named klaus. Foreman foreman was a beat neck and had influenced the band in their style. He moved to liverpool and actually lived with harrison and star for a while. He remained friends with the band and designed the cover art for the album revolver for which he won a grammy. After the breakup of the band he appeared on solo albums. John george and ringo. Jimmy nicholl was the drummer for the beatles for the first eight shows of the beatles. Nineteen sixty four world tour because ringo got sick. It was decided to hire replacement rather than cancel the tour completely. Beatles got back from germany. After sutcliffe left the group they got a part time bass player named chas. Newby because no one else wanted to play bass. Eventually paul agreed to play bass which ended the rotating bass player issues. Tony sheridan was the drummer for the first beatles recording of my bonnie when the single was released in germany it wasn't issued under the name the beatles but rather under tony sheridan and the beat brothers. Andy white played drums on the recording of love. Me do because george. Martin had hired him to play drums before they had settled on. Ringo is a drummer ringo. Played tambourine on the track. Billy preston played keyboard with a group during their nineteen sixty nine back sessions which resulted in the let it be album. He is the only person who received joint credit on a beatles single. John actually suggested he formally joined the band. But the idea was next by paul eric. Clapton played lead guitar at the invitation of george harrison. On the song while my guitar gently weeps you later played guitar on solo albums for all four members of the band. These were the notable musicians who played with the beatles at one time or another. There were many other session musicians. Who played with the group on various instruments which the bandon play. They regularly played with strings and horns which gave the beatles their unique sound and this is where we now have to talk about the non musicians who are considered fifth beatles. The foremost among this group was a producer. George martin morton produced every beatles album other than let it be a background in classical music and became attached to the group before they hit it. Big much of the sound that the beatles developed was due to martin. He was responsible for arranging strings on songs. Like eleanor rigby and horns. On penny lane. Outside of the four band members themselves no one else had as much of an impact on the actual recording and music. Other than george martin when he passed away in two thousand sixteen. Paul mccartney said quote if anyone earned the title of the fifth beatle. It was george from the day that he gave the beatles our first recording contract to the last time i saw him he was the most generous intelligent and musical person. I ever had the pleasure to know. Unquote julian lennon. John lennon's son said that martin was quote the fifth. Beatle without question..
