They put it out 17 years ago. I can't believe it was that long ago because I remember Us talking about it on the air and going through the list, Uh, you know, and discussing it and all that sort of stuff and probably even took calls way back then on the whole thing, But that was 17 years ago. Well, they put out a new list of the 500 greatest songs of all time, And they changed. A lot of it, like a third of the list is different. Including a third of the top 100, So it's much different list. But you got to add new stuff, obviously to keep people interested, But I'm not really interested in much of the new stuff, because it's I imagine it's mostly pop music. Um, but we can go look like through like the top 20 or top 10 at some point, See what you think? Yeah, it's kind of fun. I made up a song. You want to hear it? Sure. Okay. It's a new Facebook jingle. Scores of internal Facebook documents reviewed reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show employees raising alarms about how it's platforms are used in some developing countries where it's user base is already huge and expanding. And they also show that the company frequently found out about this stuff and did very little or nothing at all. But it ain't slavery and harvesting organs nor hiring and paying hitmen in some countries where Facebook operates as few or no people who speak the dialects needed to identify dangerous or criminal uses of the platform. Yeah, we've all heard about, um The people Facebook hires to go over all these different posts and sites and stuff like that. And how it just like the worst job on Earth. Yeah, whole bunch of child porn and then violent stuff and everything like that animal abuse and everything, And you're supposed to look at all these videos and flags, and it makes people actually crazy. Oh, yeah. I've read it harrowing article about that just a couple of weeks ago, But that's if you speak the language and can understand what the hell is even going on. Oh, my God. Yeah. How How are you going to do it in a country where you don't have people who speak that particular language? Now Facebook will tell you, they take down offending posts, but they haven't fixed the system that allowed offenders to repeat the bad behavior, instead writes The Wall Street Journal. Priority is given to retaining users helping business partners and at times placating authoritarian governments who support Facebook sometimes needs to operate within their borders. "During the commercial break. We keep looking at this rolling stone list of the top five hundred songs of all time. I am going to get angry. I'm not investing in this i. I like the references. I like the The back story on some of these songs. I'm just not investing anytime or emotion. Inness paul. he's been trying to make me angry. I'm not gonna work. So if i told you that britney spears toxic is one spot ahead of led zeppelin whole lotta love on the list would say i'd say i'm happy for britney happy for her and you've seen them both equal amount of times in concert. I've seen both of them one time. I went to see britney spears by myself in los angeles. You have an educated opinion on. Yes yes. I do and saul zepplin in cincinnati better concert. While i'm gonna say britney spears yeah because the right answer like led. Zeppelin wasn't a great concert. As far as they didn't do anything. I mean it's yet robert plant usually in a belly shirt and jeans that were too tight and just like britney and in fact i think they could have come to think of it. Who wore it better. Robert might have worn better. Jimmy page would get on a double neck guitar. And he'd play a couple of solos. Then you'd have john bonham on drums playing the solo or two. That could last twenty minutes. So zeppelin wasn't a great pink. Floyd is as good a concert as i've been to visually because that's when they had the album animals and you had all of these balloons the like they were animals that were floating around You'd have a pig up there and you'll be it was just wild and you didn't really have that kind of you know stage performance back then you know the stones put on a great show. They were very theatrical. When i saw them the who. I didn't see him with keith. Moon so it was basically daltry would like sling the microphone up. And then catch it and then p. townsend would wail on the guitar and that was about it. Prince put on a great show. Bowie put on a great show as well. But i just remember going to the zeppelin. Show mike. that's it they're just gonna kind of. I love the music but there wasn't any real stage presence there other than robert plant's outfit. Yes hidden. yeah there was like what was that documentary. That led zeppelin released like a long time ago. And you can see now when you watch it like. It's just some spotlights in them standing there. Yeah it's almost like the strokes in a way like they just kind of get up there. Play their songs and they walk off. That's kinda what it seemed like led zeppelin did yes mclovin i. I hate to stand up for the beatles. But the beatles are a little slighted on this list. I tell against book world record said yesterday by the beatles the most covered song in the history of the world. How can that's nowhere to be found on here unless they put out the list. They just want reaction. Because if you put like four beatles songs in the top twenty and you put a couple stone songs in there you know. You're playing to a younger demo. Clearly playing to a younger demo. Yes you know. I think that rolling stone kind of admits that in the first line of the article because it says something. "Ten minutes long but as a masterpiece of music and that's the thing it can't just be the same thing over and over again for ten minutes like you gotta make it dynamic. It has to be like weather report suite by the grateful dead or terrapin station. I mean that song takes you on a journey. Absolately and i feel like they lost sight of that. Now they're just trying to make overly complicated overly long music. yeah and what. The latest album really showed me how their guitar player really is. I mean he is by far the weakest member of their bed for the bass player and drummer. They would be completely on remarkable right but the bass player and drummer are really good. And they hearing them and it's it's working. It's the pace but the busy all the songs need to be like half as long at least ten minutes and seventeen minutes. That's a big difference. That's true. But i mean the favorite of their long songs of mine would be ten thousand days and it just has this slow build up of tension until it explodes into it and then this gradual release. It's really really well done. You could tell. They spent a lot of time carefully. You've heard the stories about Phil Specter, who passed away over the weekend at 81. He was a brilliant record producer and the insane guy. No question about it. And in addition to Those early hits he produced with his famous wall of sound like he's a rebel and be my baby and to do run run, he worked with John Lennon and the Beatles. He Did production work on the Let it be album. He also added strings and acquired to the long and winding road of a Paul Didn't really like all of that. I've always been a fan of that. I like all that big wall of sound. Specter also Produced All things must pass for George Harrison and the John Lennon. Imagine album and you know what he used to do. He used to mix the music and then listen to it in the studio on a little bitty speaker. Because he knew that's the way the kids were hearing the music on transistor radios, and he made these rock operas and my favorite Phil Specter production. Is the song we're gonna play for you here this morning. A lot of people think this is the greatest rock and roll record ever. Rolling Stone put it on their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
