Airline Cards Lose Luster as Coronavirus Persists

"Do either of you have any airline credit cards? Yes, I've gotten American Airlines one doctor. I don't know. Have a Delta one and a blue one, actually, um Question for for both of you, I guess for Mike, So you've got an American Airlines one. Is that a card that prior to this year you used heavily on a regular basis. Know when I had kids, I switched almost all of my spending over to a 5 29 Rewards credit card instead of in airline credit card. I paid the annual fee at this point, mainly because it gets me free checked luggage on any of my American Airlines flights for myself, and I think up to three other passengers, so for me You know, family of five. If we fly one time a year, the credit card he pays for itself in chucked in checked bags, But you've made the selfish decision to prioritize your kid's education over your own travel. Correct, Very selfish. I'm sorry to hear that. You know Honestly, what the reason I ask this is that these these airline credit cards are big money makers in a number of different areas. The first is a lot of people don't realize this, But let's say that you get apart. Let's say you apply for one of these new airline credit cards, and there is a 60,000 mile bonus that goes for the jet blue water for the Delta one. Those miles don't just materialize out of thin air. What we actually end up seeing is that the bank that issues that card whether it's JP Morgan, whether it is Barclays whether it is Bank of America. Whoever is issuing that card pays the airline for those miles in order to generate the bonus. And so these bonuses can be very lucrative for the airlines. Because you know if you will get the cost the average cause if you're looking at the price on these miles Generally, the ballpark is anywhere between one and two cents per miles. That means on a 50,000 mile bonus, the airline that is offering that bonus is picking up anywhere from 500 to $1000 in revenue just by virtue of someone signing up for one of those cards. It's a lot of revenue and they don't have to fly anyone in order to generate it. So they get all this revenue and they don't do anything. It's just okay. Here we go. We've got a potential liability in the future. What they earn. This revenue was Sorry. You don't have as many people signing up for these airline rewards cards and the reason why is look, you just don't have that many people traveling. So why would you sign up for a brand new airline Rewards card? If you're not gonna use it any time soon, and with the potential of devaluations coming for these rewards programs as well. So a couple things there. I would think right now that the airlines are enticing people and maybe offering I actually know that they're offering. You know extra mileage rewards If they devalue those miles on the tail end of this, That's a different story, And I think they might, but I think that some of them are offering additional miles Chuck in your case. Are you paying annual fees on both JetBlue and Delta? The credit card. Yes, I am. Okay. Have you thought about cancer? I mean, you haven't flown at all this year or at least not since pre pandemic. I'm guessing you probably won't fly until May or June of this year. I flown once this year. Actually, no, that's not true. I flown once pre pandemic and once post pandemic s, so it's actually paid for itself even this year, but generally speaking, all fly You know 3 to 5 times a year. Are you able to justify those fees? So I've actually spoken to the issuers and gotten the majority of those fees refunded? Um, just because they get like you just say Look, I'm thinking about canceling this card. I'm not using it, They'll say OK, like either they'll offer you additional points not so much right now because they don't want to be spending the money order to say OK, we'll reduce your waive the fee for the year. But I wanna be able to keep him for the long term because they have things that are attractive based on you know, our travel plans and things like that. So, um the other piece on this is It's not just the airlines that lose out on a little bit of business. You also have the payment network so place you know, cos like a visa or in American Express. If individuals start using debit cards, which they're using Maura of and less credit cards, fewer credit cards. What you end up with is a situation where the interchange fees that normally would be collected on that credit card usage. Those don't end up getting paid out. And so it creates a little bit of a wrinkle then for you know these these issuers now They obviously are able to make that up with the fact that hey, people, you know, are using cash way less this year. And so maybe they're just not using the travel cards as much. But we saw here was that traveling entertainment purchases were down 69% year over year on Amex cards and 70% on Visa cards compared to a year ago for the last quarter, So obviously they're seeing a big change in volume there, then that means you know fewer interchange fees collected for these companies.

"You're right it goes from the Polo grounds which nobody could hit a home. Run to center field for eighty three. Does that better and a couple of years the stadium and then candlestick park the worst place in the world to build a ballpark and right on the San Francisco Bay Always Wendy. And here's maze coming out by the. By the way the first year the fences were way. The heck out there. They had to move him in just to conform with the rest of the leap and during EP as with crush the ball and the wind would knock it down across the ball. The wind would knock it down. You said if you hit a fly ball to left and zero chance that would go out. It had to be a line drive. But he didn't complain about it. He adjusted and learn to go to field and there was a jetstream out. Mountain Right Center. If you get it up in the air oftentimes it would go out. But I look back and he actually hit more home runs at home than on the road during his candlestick years. A lot of people say oh what it hit a lot more home runs but he adjusted made it benefit him. A lot of people complained about this thick but he just adapted to it. I think the bigger question is what would have happened. If he didn't go in the military and again he didn't complain about it. He did his service did his time. But that's two years missed. In his early twenties he came out of the military hit. Ninety two home runs the first two seasons in fifty. Four and fifty five so conservatively. If you say well in those two seasons he might have hit sixty well. We finished with six sixty and sixty. And that's six more than Babe Ruth seven fourteen. So again he never complains about it. I asked them many times John. What's wrong with sixty nine? So yeah you're right. Class does does in New York. Anyway you know people still remember the seventy-three world series when He was no longer himself could no longer do the things he had once done. And it's kind of one of these like standard Stories now when you talk about an athlete hanging on too long you think a Willie mays but but is that world series really representative of who he was by nineteen seventy-three and does it really Influenced the way people think of him as a player later in his career. You're right people will look at that and use the example. Don't be Willie. Mays don't play too long. Get Out of the game before it's too late and all that stuff and I said Okay. Let me look into that. So I looked into that world series talked to a bunch of people on both sides of the ball. Reggie Jackson Rollie fingers by you. Know Vita all the folks Fossey and all the mets teammates as well and I came away from that little different vibe now pictures we remember our willie losing the ball in the sun and Willie on his music..

"Life on. Espn radio and the ESPN APP. Here's Jeremy SCHAAP. Welcome to another dish of sporting life later in the show. We'll be speaking to the CO author of a new memoir by Willie mates. We won't be speaking Willie mays. We'LL BE SPEAKING TO HIS CO author John Shea. About new book. He's written with maize twenty four but before that we're GONNA be talking about another baseball hall of Famer Friday night on E. Sixty on. Espn A new show. Premiered Imperfect Roy halladay story reported by my colleague and friend infrequent guest here on the sporting life. John Barr and John is GonNa join us now to talk about Roy Halladay in the reporting for this extraordinary show John. Thank you for being with us. Happy to be here Jeremy. Thank you John Roy. Halladay was one of those players in baseball history. Who who was bigger than just his numbers. in kind of the way the Willie mays was to there. Was this Aura about him He was He was tough. He was He was somebody who seemed to represent all of the competitive traits. You would want in top level professional athlete but who was he has a man. Well that's that's really the the central theme of our story. There were two Roy Halladay. There was the holiday there. There was a Roy Halladay that was projected to the world. This STOIC workhorse. Who whose work ethic was the stuff of Legend in baseball circles And then there was the Roy. Halladay away from the baseball field. And you know much of our story is driven by a candidate and a far-reaching interview with Brandy Holiday Roy's widow and she shared with us in detail. How Roy struggled with pain and addiction. He had two separate stints in inpatient drug treatment and she also shed with us how we struggle with mental health issues. He struggled with depression and anxiety. Attention deficit disorder And this is something that that you know some of those issues trace back to Roy. Childhood is his early struggles as a professional athlete But they continued to to He. It's something he continued to battle right up until the time of his death in November of two thousand seventeen so That's really the guts of what the story is about. It's it's the Roy Halladay. We never knew as you put it in the show and again it's imperfect Roy Halladay story Which premiered Friday night? You say that when he comes when he gets back to the majors in two thousand one after having been down the miners after kind of a disastrous start to his major league career. Ninety eight ninety nine two thousand. He's he's a different person. Refresh our memory. Who WHO was Roy? Halladay in those first few years as major leaguer. What kind of Pitcher was he well? He caught lightning in a bottle. In second star he was one eight one out removed from a no hitter in his second. Start as a Toronto Blue Jay but in in the year two thousand as you reference. He had an absolutely disastrous year. His ten point six four. Era over the course of the two thousand season remains the highest era in Major League baseball history for any pitcher with at least fifty innings. So think about that for a moment..

Yeah I wouldn't be able to handle that. Would eleven race. Paint all money and yeah government. One of those characters come out that would be. It'd be funny if it's not you. We? We got a good guest coming up here rock. Absolutely Sam Hubbard, bengals player GonNa join us and just talk about what's. What's an off season virtual off season like in the NFL that comes up here next. And that's after the news newsradio seven hundred W L W. Talking to Richard Skinner earlier and I think the three of us agreed on one thing that. The NFL will be back. And if not on time, certainly right around. Brian question about it. Yeah, and look. Let's face I gotta say man the the NFL. Which I love with all my heart that they they affect. There's there so lucky. They always seem to just be in the right situation. The right time and I mean if they're season was right now. Like Baseball's is I'm sure it'd be a little bit of a cluster as well, but sure NFL has the the luxury of time here and every indication especially as The number of deaths in the states you know, continue to go down or at least level off. States continue open backup the NFL said really nothing other than we played on open the season fans or no fan, so should be cool, but nevertheless that has been a unique off season and I wanted to get on one of My good friends here Cincinnati, bengals former molar former Ohio state. Now you're bengals player. Sam Hubbard Sam. How are you buddy? I'm doing well. Thanks for having me on. Absolutely Sam just talk to us about what what say what say virtual off season. How's this been doing everything communication in otherwise with your coaches, the zoom meeting versus having the structure of the facility and Iota and all that. Has Been Interesting. It's been definitely a learning process as we've gone through it, but really just two hours a day Monday through Thursday. We get together on Zoom, and you know whether it's a D.. Coordinator always thought for the team meeting with the hundred or so guys in there, and then we moved split up the Corden doctrine stalls where they can share the screen, and it's actually pretty productive. You know we we are. We're able to learn and coaches, and we spent in a position groups and You know we're not face to face or in the locker room, getting to know other, but tries the involves go. We're getting a lot done. And really just walking out on her own and getting ready to come back right now. The plan is end in July so. We'll see how that goes. So say I was GONNA. Ask You about that as far as actually working out goes. I've been seeing. You know hearing about Joe Borough maybe working out with old friends of his and some players get together in different cities and and doing some training. Have you gotten together with any? Training throughout. The courtroom started drew stateful. are tight end and I've been working on together here. Cincinnati and You know we have been getting together too much. 'cause you know that's against the rules, but guys have just been up down the field, throwing together and finding whatever way they can to get the work done they to get their bodies and minds ready for the season. things in Jim. Start to open back up. Guys are starting to to link up and. Try and Organiz seven seven's and stuff like that so You know trying to figure it out. Now Sam, in terms of the the workout portion of it or the bengals. Do they send you? You know. Hey, here's on. Your Monday Wednesday Fridays. Here's what the workout is, and then just expect you to do it, or are they really leaving on your own to say? Hey, look, you're a professional and you know you better. SHAPE, how how's that working? Yeah some teams are they do their work out mandatory where you're actually on camera. Doing whatever's mandated. The bengals. Chose the way I think is most productive. They send you The beginning of the week worked out that we're supposed to do on our own and kind of really just trust that we're doing it and everything I've talked to guys and some guys that our team is gonNA getting in the best shape of their lives. Just 'cause you know there's not much else to do workout and train, so it's you know it's going pretty well so far. Let me ask you what kind of vibe again from the other guys I mean as far as the start of season goes and optimism. We're whatnot. Everybody pretty charged up. Yeah. Guys are excited. I think the coaches after accepted up. As far as you know, organization installing everything's pretty very organized. You can tell that this the first year they had under their belt has really benefited them and you know. Geyser are trying to find ways to connect you know I think we've done a good job. You know facetime in talking to guys. We've split up into a bunch of different team challenges the coaches creative to just get another rookies and stuff like that. Angie's good. You know obviously hard to gauge not being face to face, but everyone's excited and ready to get back to building. Bengals Defensive End Sam Hubbard joining us so Sam so much has been said about Sam Hubbard. and or Sam, Hubbard Sam Hubbard Joe Borough. Anticipating him and so excited. My understanding is you. Guys are friends from your state days. Tell us something about Joe Borough that maybe hasn't been said I, mean you? You spend some time with them. Just give us an indication something that hasn't been said already about Jonesboro. Joe The year below me at stayed, he spent three years with me. and I got to know him really well off the field. "That. Is there any service John that like? 'cause I thought this at the beginning of Netflix. This is what you paid for is any movie out there you wanted. You could get even if you had the mail the disk or whatever I wanNA service that says okay. I want to see I've ever watched I don't know Predator to in a while I would love it. You know if there's a service where you type it in and you get it I think would pay for that. Never gone all their own content. Which yeah what I wanted. From the beginning yeah Netflix's going to mostly original content and then a Lotta off brand. Moody's you know not popular movies if you want the hit movies. You really need either apple or you need Amazon. Prime Video Amazon Prime Video. You can get any movie any major movie over the past forty years. It's like you know you WanNa see the godfather you know you just get on Amazon. Brian Up Typing Godfather. Your comes it's GonNa cost you five bucks to rent and that's cool. You can see it. So that's a service that has almost every movie but again Amazon. Prime something that you're paying one hundred twenty dollars a year for you. Get the shipping with it too. But that's what we're saying for so many of these you look at you. Know fifteen bucks for Netflix. Seven dollars or Disney plot Who for nine dollars? And now they want another fifteen for. Hbo Mac I mean you're gonNA YOU'RE GONNA pay more than just basic cable bill. You had like three or four years ago. Well you know everybody's talking about cutting cutting the court and all that stuff well let's start mixing and matching and plugging this in here and that there to try to get everything you want. Pay More than three hundred bucks a month. Your beat three hundred and God forbid you still have cable to get you. Know like wow. These are getting expensive so take a look at it. If you're who absolutely has to see Big Bang theory every day or bugs bunny looney tunes shows. You know you're going to want it Or if you just You know love all those old. Hbo Series. They're all on it too but other than that. I don't know this one's going to be an I don't know I don't see it becoming as popular as isn't plus which like everybody on Earth Pants at this good time to talk about Disney. We're talking Disney. They just announced the other day the parks opening July eleven. But I tell you I would. Not You know you know Book Hotel and race right down there July eleven. It's GONNA be a slow opening starting with just a magic kingdom under limited hours and you gotta wear mask. You gotta wear masks. So you know if you got like a five-year-old is a five year old boy gonna WanNa wear a face mask the whole time at Disneyworld. I just don't know you know that's Kinda crazy. Little three year olds here. Here's a deal. I believe the estimate was a family of four costs around nine hundred dollars to do a weekend at Disney. So these people. Yeah Hey all that money and do all that and then. Some Dad pools the mass down to eat. His is Fifteen dollars cream cone. If somebody's going to jump out of the woodwork. And say Sir you put that mask on. Are you good at wait? A minute been paying tons of money here. It's I understand the rule but the enforcement of these rules with mass and stuff is a completely other issue here and I'm wondering do it. Yeah that's GonNa be really interesting to enforce the mask will also the social distancing you don't a lot of those rides are indoors. I can tell you. I think I waited. Like four hours once to get onto the Winnie the Pooh ride and the small world. Ride little kid that's right. You're waiting hours for these rights. And how things space bound If you haven't been on it it's a lot like flight of fear Kings Island where you stay at any dark tunnel. Okay how you do the social distancing if you're standing with five hundred people in a dark tunnel. I just don't know how that one is going to work. So you know. They're doing a slow open. It's going to be just a magic kingdom at I that they're gonna add Hollywood studios and Star Wars but the hotels aren't even opening until until later. They're they WANNA do it really slowly so it's GonNa be real interesting and I don't know I think a lot of families are and say you know what let's just wait for next spring and go then and hopefully this will all be over. Yeah yeah that's what we're that's what we're hoping because we're waiting for so much open land. We might get announcement on that next week because Yeah Governor Dewine is going to make an announcement about theme parks next week so chomping at the bit up there kings island to get open but they still have to wait for the governor to say something So that'll be hopefully in about three or four weeks and that could open. They just announced today. In fact that Kentucky Kingdom Dan Louisville. It's like a smaller version of kings island. That's opening June twenty ninth at the end of June. So they're gonNA start reopening the theme parks. And maybe if you WANNA Kinda of you're in the water and see what a theme park is like with social distancing you know you check out Kentucky Kingdom then you checkout kings island before that big big big expensive trip to Disney world all right John. Thanks so much as always. Hey stay safe and don't waste your money..

If you're not GonNa, let me either seeing playoff format or try to improve my playoff ranking. I'm not playing and I. Don't blame Damien. What was I any fighter for that? Anyway I think he like to watch the last two teams in the NBA, maybe some of the better teams in the least he basketball, so yeah, I I think we'll come up with something creative. Usually the first round of the playoffs is boring, right? There's kind of. It, there's a team that's clearly an advanced team that's not going to, but maybe with this sort of a round robin kind of format where they're put into believe it was like four or five different divisions. They WANNA put a salary cap on which they think order to do, but I think in this year I think both sides. We begin I I i. honestly think those are giving a little bit here I really do. The only problem is like I said the players don't trust them and have earned that they as time has gone on the way, owners, creed players, or been able to hide money, and the fact that they keep pleading poverty, and yet every year salaries go up. The salaries go up and salaries go up. The salaries go up. I think it's hard. For, you cry wolf, and so the players are saying you keep crying wolf. Wait wait listen to any long here we are. We're talking to Richard Skinner and skinny. You What are the things we talked about? With Sheldon was amount of games the common number that's been tossed around of courses like eighty two half a season. Want more games to make more money. We're talking about game season. You see that as possible I. Don't because like I said. What are we still start this season? You're going. GonNa, need a decent amount of spring training I mean these pictures to get. Flowing again and you probably gotta give them a good three to four weeks. So if that's the case basis basin, let's just let's just silver argument's sake that they come to a deal on. Monday That's not gonNA happen. Let's say for argument's sake and get a spring training story, maybe within the next week of that we're talking about an eight which takes us again to July. Eighth Fish. Fish. I. Don't know how you're the hundred games. The players will I think it'd be very difficult I know. There's talk of doubleheaders and taking a couple of days away. Etcetera, you don't like. The players wanted two hundred games, they the prorated salary, which is a person salary, so they want as many as they can. Possibly squeeze in the owners are looking and saying listen to what I in fans. I stand to lose less money by not playing then by play. So why would I be incentivizes? incentivizes want to play more if I can't have fans so yeah I just I I think we're terrible impasse at a terrible time, and the question is what we all sat my by the site in April, and may why. Why was the negotiations? Take place at that closed for a possible return i. mean you knew you weren't coming back those two months and pipedream while you were coming back to life for so why not start the ball instead at the eleventh hour? Now I think we're now. You're right, and you led me to my question, which is of course we don't know the books have all these teams are private, so we don't know what they're in the balance sheets and the red and the black. What all? That looks like here, but I mean. Do you feel skinny that there's? At least a decent amount of teams out there that are probably in that camp, and maybe could one of them be the reds. Look, we're doing you know the other day. This is a business and we're looking at balance sheets, and we're doing everything and to put on this whole baseball operation. Do all this actually cost us more money than if we would, if we. Go just kinda cancel the season. Let's start over fresh in cross our fingers for next year. Do you think they're mad as being considered? It should be I don't think it is rocky. I think that's that's I. Realize the issue and. Even, then you're gonNA. Have a handful of agents and a handful of players saying yeah, but you're hiding some PD money here and some so revenue from the pro shop. They're not seeing those Bauer show up. I mean I think it's just simple trust factor. Fully came open I. Don't know if the players would trust them but I i. do think the owners have to almost do it. You're saying of as much as they possibly can be. As transparent as possible the players look at it with a jaundiced eye and not elite, but I think somebody needs to do that I I don't see that taking place I i. do think I think there's going to come a point where both sides do meet somewhere in the middle. The question is how long will that take and then when the season started. And how many games did you play? I mean that's that's the biggest part. Skinny Rock and I were talking before we got you on the line. What do you see more likely to happen baseball NFL? Season College football. I'm GonNa go, NFL some good news on the College Front today about. Sending a proposal how you can get all your facilities reopened, etc, but. Nfl I I they. They had the luxury of having a normal season. I mean they really. Have I mean graph went on his? On his schedule. They didn't have the OTA's, but they were able to do that. Stuff Berkeley, while it's not perfect, not everybody wants. At least it was something, and it was a way to stay in touch and get some level of installation of offenses and defenses in terminology installed for for everybody. And you know if you can get to you, know may not be the full training camp. They expect may not be a full preseason that we expect, but you gotTA train capping in August possibly and get a couple of preseason games in. It's probably all you need. Anyway. That's all I. think players really on anyway, and you may have some of the regulars playing a little bit more that leads you into possible start for the regular season on time i. go to the NFL. I will to. Wanting we haven't talked about is NBA and obviously, we don't have a team here in town but I. I've seen them proposal. Basically, they're talking about going almost like an NC double A. or like you know round Robin Kinda, tournament for for the postseason, and really going totally different from what they've done. Which I think is actually cool. I think there's an opportunity here to say in because of how you know. Know things being the way they are. We can't change, but because now we have this excuse of well we. We had to adapt everything because Kobe let. Let's try a few things you're. You're almost given the free will to do that now, did you? See The NBA, starring in DC some of these other teams, even the NFL and just different sort of formats, because they're now kind of afforded that luxury. Anything in the playoff teams, the extra playoff teams this year. Anyway, so that is kind of a a change for them, but now I have to because I think you have to incentivize if you're. If you're asking all the teams to come back and you still they still may not..

"Our podcast. Welcome to the program related for Friday. And we're really glad that you decided to join us and we have a lot to go a lot to do today. And then there is breaking news all over the place and we will get to it as quickly as possible. Also number of guests including two governors from southern states talking about reopening their states. And what it all means so we begin with some breaking news from Brett mcmurphy. A three page letter obtained by his group and him power five commissioners ask Congress to quote unquote inactive clear national policy on L. and not wait for into AA process to conclude and so there will be uniform national standard that will preempt state laws time is of the essence. I'm sure Congress. Right now is delighted that they have been. They've had this dumped on their lap. They wanted to deal with it and now they will so that will be topic number one and we'll get to many other topics in a few minutes but Brett mcmurphy who broke that story joining us now breath. Thank you very much for the time and tell us what you have learned more important. What does it all mean? Good afternoon Paul. Why think you know? There's a three page document there if people want to read the whole thing but you know what jumped out to me is kind of what you touched on is that they they don't. WanNa wait for the NCAA. Now you talk to todd the other day about the piece He wrote about the the power five. Maybe breaking free the NCAA Asked the Somme Dis about the specific language in this document and they said Yeah that that was a subtle shot if you will at the NCAA because quite frankly a lot of the schools are not happy with the way this process has gone and so now they've reached up the Congress and like you said I'm sure Congress has a lot better better things to do than deal with this but You know that's kind of where we are right. We'll we'll see what happens. Does this force the NCAA speed up? But the big fear the power five commissioners is if we have different rules in different states govern- governing the the NFL. So you know there's eleven different states in the in the fourteen member. Sec There's eleven different states in the fourteen member big ten. So if you've got states with different rules within the same conference you know the SEC. Call is good as anybody you know how that could that could spiral out of control regarding recruiting and a number of thanks. So they're trying to make it a national rule for everybody now. What's those what those specific rules would be limitations etc like that is still to be determined talking to Bradley Murphy about this? This is certainly a topic one today but there are other issues going on man Brad. You've covered Athletic Directors and commissioners since this all began nearly three months ago the turn the pages being turned into June players returning to campus. We've heard all the protocols I'm really interested of your thoughts on where we are right now and is it. Is it a good? Go sign for the college. Football season is Paul but I still think that the biggest son known is is once we get going and student athletes test positive or coaches test positive. Obviously that's an older age group. Then what exactly what exactly happens? We'll we'll the power five conferences all have the same guidelines and hate and safety measures in place or will they be different conference to conference. You know that's that's the big question but you know. Look if I talked to Joe Stiglitz Tucker Jax swore brick the last couple of weeks they go said they're more than they weren't past weeks but again I don't think we'll definitively know anything until we get to mid July or even late July. Exactly what's going to happen? I know they WANNA play full. Twelve game schedule It's just you know. Hopefully we're improving with maintaining the virus and all that stuff but I don't think it's automatic. We're definitely going to have twelve games that I still think there's too many unknowns and I know Bob Bos. We said this number times. The big twelve commissioner. His biggest fear is there's another outbreak when we get later to the winter months. What happens then? Do we shut down. Do we play through it Do we reschedule the season for for finish the season after the Christmas break. Those are a number of things. They've got decide before we get going bread. It's interesting because he depends on who you talk to. You live in the south so you hear that part of it just walking around but if we don't get the twelve games. What are the contingency plans? Well the conference I think. Conference only is the most likely scenario. Because if you if you've got schools from different parts of the country so can't play Then it's GonNa be hard to feel that twelve game schedule with non conference games so I think it's more likely that schools would you know maybe the SEC. Go from eight to nine. Getting conference schedule. Maybe they would even go to ten games. You it's easier to add conference members than try to find people outside your conference if you'd get the twelve games And certainly if if one car major conference is not playing on conference games and probably all everybody will play Non Conference Games. And then you'll have some kind of conference only format which we already know how difficult it is to pick the best teams for playoff now so think of how much more difficult it'll be get. There is no out of conference games to kind of compare strengths. If different conference everything speculative of course. We all know that we covered this. We talk to people but you've watched college football for a number of years If I could move you to January Second Week of January when we normally have the College Football Championship What do you think we're where do you think we're going to be? Do you think we'll have a season? That has a finale of finish. Do you think it will be a jigsaw puzzle Do you think we'll even get to that point..

"Why did you keep officer Derek Chalvin? For like twenty years, he's forty seven years old when all these complaints have been filed. Nobody stands with officer Derek Calvin when he does when he did what he did. Nobody, it isn't us. Why have collective guilt for individual misconduct? You will not apply any other group. If some black guy commits a crime, you wouldn't say all black men are responsible. Wanted you correct that that's stupid? Stupid to say look at US look at us. WHO's US I stand with those who oppose. The killing of someone like George Floyd who was tortured to death by police officers. You're talking about a split-second decision. split-second decision. This went on for eight minutes. It said before he got into the police car. I'm I'm a little CLAUSTROPHOBIC? and He Kinda, he didn't resist arrest. He kind of I. Don't want to get into the police car, so they threw him to the pavement, and then put a knee on his neck for eight minutes. That is not a split-second decision. That is not. And so this is going to play out at the end of the day. The Black folks in Minneapolis have lost doors, businesses livelihoods, and that's not coming back anymore than Avondale came back after the rights in nineteen, sixty, seven and nine, hundred and sixty eight, every ten or twenty years is more revitalization model cities, programs and Avondale that was a good functioning middle-class black community untold the riots. In the city of Detroit until nineteen, sixty five, there was a four percent unemployment rate for African Americans. The riots took place, and that's when Detroit became Detroit since nine hundred and sixty five. The War Zones Minneapolis. Don't solve anything if there was a political resolution to this. The Democratic Party would have found it and corrected the problems I don't know how they look at others and blame them for their failure of their policies in so many parts of Urban America. So. Let's continue with more once again. the president scheduled two o'clock, but like many presidents is almost always late, and then the governor Mike Dewine. We'll talk about. The riots took place in Columbus overnight, and what's parts of the State Capitol building itself was attacked by protestors or demonstrators, but by vandals and thieves, so let's continue with more I'll be with utilities three o'clock in the Rock Connecticut. Can you smell what I'm cooking I'm telling you. Do not have collective guilt for individual acts of criminal misconduct that we all disagree with I. Don't agree with that, and so I'm responsible for my life, not responsible for officer Derek Galvin those who have been responsible or the police chief in Minneapolis, who bought ways black and the Mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Primes a left wing liberal and Keith Ellison the Attorney General Minnesota who's a black lives matter supporter. So who are they blaming? I would blame officer Derek Chalvin, and those directly in charge of keeping a bad cop after eighteen time soon charge of misconduct. That's what I would blame. Don't blame trump. Don't blame you. Don't blame me. Don't blame denny of Dayton. How about looking at yourself and say we have failed individually in this officers case there was systemic problems. WHY HAVEN'T LIBERALS IN MINNESOTA MINNESOTA solve them decades ago if there's problems with CPA? Solve them. You got the money you got the budget. Solve the problems, but don't blame us when there's individual acts a criminal misconduct. Coming up next we think is the president and the Governor to twenty five home. "Our, Bill said it is purely voluntary, and the government will need your informed rich and set in order to participate, and if you choose not to participate, the bill says the government cannot take any penalty action against you or withhold any benefit or healthcare from you because you declined to participate so therefore we think that bill we're actually helping contact tracing by shoring people that this will remain confidential that you ever write reviews on conscience, crowns, or whatever ground and that if you do reviews, you're not gonna be penalized, so we think that's great, but the rumblings are that the governor might be Joe that Oh my gosh. I'm not. Bill sites we got about two minutes remaining. We'll GONNA talk about money real quick. And it was about a three billion dollar rainy day fund and I said the governor when we were talking about two weeks ago. I can't conceive of a worse rainy day. His now got three billion sitting over there. You told me off the air that there's billions of more from the federal government flowing yet we're having hundreds of millions of dollars in cuts to public education, and also to poor folks with Medicaid aren't going to get medical care and the governor will not use the rainy day fund. When you speak to the governor's office, which I no longer going to do. What did they tell you about using the money off to the side for rainy day? If twenty six percent unemployment is not a rainy day I. don't WanNa. See One. What do they tell you? Well what they what they say, and frankly what I kind of agree with is. We're looking at a five and a half billion dollar deficit sport next year. That begins on July one. And, so the governor made seven hundred seventy five million dollars, worth of cuts out of in order to stem that tide, and he's holding back the rainy day. Money a for the even worse dire consequences of the fiscal year. That begins on July one now. The other thing I'll say is yes. The federal government has given the state. State of Ohio two and a half be with a billion dollars, and that will certainly help, and we need to get that money out. We need to get that money out to businesses. We need to get it out to local governments. We need to get that money out to hospitals and nursing homes, and I think the state needs to create a strategic. Reserve this like we have the National Strategic Petroleum Reserve to stockpile P. and the events. We need it for a future outbreak, so that there is not two and a half billion that we need to get spam but I'm not to criticize the governor for not easing the rainy day fund yet because it may be raining now, but it's GonNa be a Hurricane Dora. Come next year. We gotta run, but. Anthony Fauci said three days ago, not well covered by the media of course. Anthony FAUCI, said quote. Staying home orders intended to curb the spread of the coronavirus could end up causing irreparable damage to the economy. We're watching here in Ohio and I don't want governor wind. Be Governor Nero Fiddling Ohio Burns we gotta run House Majority Leader. Bill sites. Thank you for coming on the Bill Cunningham show. You're not asking Fuses Jeff Pastor. Bill have a great day. God bless America. Let's continue with more later on as Jodie Anderson is. Kinda come come on and talk about his comments about the George Floyd. "The hospitals have calculated their losses. Of Federal Reimbursement because the feds did give hospitals some money in their congressional package so of those receive. Across Ohio the hospitals we'll be reporting and aggregate loss of between two and two and a half be with a billion dollars. I let that sink you, so the feds have reimbursed hospitals. Between two and two and a half billion dollars because of Dr Amy Acton, and Governor Mike DeWine. When there's thirty four thousand hospital beds, and about eight hundred patients at covert, and they're still having shutting down parts of the hospitals. They're still doing that this afternoon. and. That's the other thing I've been. I've been here for him for two weeks now. They did relax the ban on elective surgeries, but if you need an overnight stay in the hospital for your elective surgery, that is still there both okay, so I've got neighbors. I've got friends neighbors here in my green township wonderful area. She's gotta a hip replacement that needs to be replaced. There is chromium. And cobalt that is leaking into her bloodstream. Her doctor says I'd be happy to do the surgery, but I can't. Because it would require an overnight stay, so this lovely lady is walking around in pain, fearful of the effects of chromium cobalt, running through her bloodstream, and until we get the ban on night safe before elective surgeries lifted. Lots of people are going to be in that same situation. I just read an article this morning. They'll from from the hill, which is publication, they say emergency stroke evaluations nationwide down forty percent as a result of these shut down. Half of over six hundred and fifty thousand cancer patients receiving chemotherapy are missing their treatments. two-thirds of the normal number of cancer screenings are not occurring and over fifty percent of the child back. The Nation that normally would be occurring are not being performed. These are all medical consequences, other lockdown that have obviously substantial impacts on real and substantial people. So what the heck are we doing? You think jeff passer is confused. Bill sites there's a study out of Massachusetts that said everything you just said adds up to approximately eight thousand deaths per month, additional related to covert nineteen because of the shutdown, but unrelated to covert nineteen. That is that there's policies in place that say we know. About eight thousand Americans, dying of numerous causes because of the governor ordered shutdowns eight thousand per month, which is going to be about the same numbers that covert nine, thousand, nine, hundred, hundred thousand number, even if it's not one hundred thousand of his eighty thousand, whatever the number is that the government policy is killing as many or more people than covid nineteen, but we can act as if it's a pandemic when clearly it is not can I give you one other fact from.
