"The next few moments, surrender all the cares and concerns of the stay to the lord. Say slowly, from your heart, Jesus. I trust in you. You. Take over. Become aware that he is with you. Looking upon you with love. Wanting to be heard, deep within your heart. A reading from the holy gospel according to John, chapter 11 versus 45 through 56. Many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him, but some of them went to tell the pharisees what Jesus had done. Then the chief priests and pharisees called a meeting. Here is this man working all these signs, they said, and what action are we taking? If we let him go on in this way, everybody will believe in him. In the Romans will come and destroy the holy place and our nation. One of them, caiaphas, the high priest that year said. You do not seem to have grasped the situation at all. You failed to see that it is better for one man to die for the people than for the whole nation to be destroyed. He did not speak in his own person. It was as high priest that he made this prophecy that Jesus was to die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but to gather together in unity the scattered children of God. From that day they were determined to kill him. So Jesus no longer went about openly among the Jews, but left the district for a town called ephraim in the country bordering on the desert, and stayed there with his disciples. The Jewish Passover drew near, and many of the country people who had gone up to Jerusalem to purify themselves, looked out for Jesus, saying to one another as they stood about in the temple. Zooming Out on the Recent Turbulence in the Banking Space
"Today, we are catching up on the macro as we had an important moment to understand how the powers that be were feeling in the wake of the last few weeks turbulence in the banking space. Indeed, the world for this FOMC meeting looked very different from where things were last time. At least or especially to the casual observer. Now, consensus had been building for a shift back to a larger 50 basis point hike. In early March Powell attended annual congressional oversight hearings and delivered a Frank assessment of the macro situation. He said, quote, if the totality of the data were to indicate that faster tightening is warranted, we would be prepared to increase the pace of rate hikes. Jobs and CPI data for February had shown some cooling but were beginning to tell the story of sticky high inflation. Interpreting this as guidance that a reacceleration in rate hikes was in the cards, markets quickly adjusted. Pricing in a 78 percent chance that the fed would deliver a 50 basis point hike. Just days later, however, when the bank run at Silicon Valley was in full swing, the odds of a faster height collapsed entirely. Some market participants began to price in a chance that the fed would pause rate hikes with the probability peaking at 45% at the height of the panic. On Tuesday night of this week heading into the FOMC meeting, however, markets had priced a 73% chance of a 25 basis point hike, with the remaining probability assigned to a rate pause. Importantly, while this might sound like a strong consensus, that's actually the most uncertain market position in recent fed history. The fed almost always follows the market, but with a major economic shock occurring so close to a fed meeting, it was hard to know how the FOMC would weigh volatile market pricing. Jim Bianco actually outlined this in an excellent Twitter thread earlier in the week. He shared that the only example of the fed going against market consensus in the post 1994 forward guidance era was in September 2008. Bear Stearns had collapsed in March leading to large rate cuts, but by June policy had stabilized. That Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, the day before the FOMC meeting, and markets scrambled to price in a 68% chance of a rate cut, where they had previously been signaling the expectation of no move. Fed chairman Ben Bernanke ignored this repricing of policy and health rates steady. Three weeks later, however, the FOMC would hold an emergency meeting to deliver a 50 basis point rate cut as markets rapidly deteriorated.

"House Republicans move forward in impeaching, opening up an impeachment into Joe Biden? Now, there's been more talk recently about opening up impeachment proceedings, possibly Merrick Garland. I think those are probably both excellent ideas. I have advocated myself before for a Biden impeachment. It doesn't matter if it's not going to be carried through. It doesn't matter if it's going to make it through the Senate. First of all, there are multiple grounds to impeach this guy. He could be impeached on the border. He could be impeached over his actions in Afghanistan. He could be impeached over the financial corruption. Now, of course, he can be impeached over the classified documents. And the classified document scandal gets worse by the day yesterday I talked about the fact that it's now come out that Hunter Biden who claimed that house the house with those documents is has been paying Biden a rent of $50,000 per month. Per month. Now this is a house that's worth about $2 million, someone took the trouble of looking it up on Zillow to see what the rent is for that type of house. It turns out the rent is $7600. Who would pay $50,000? I mean, think about it. That's $600,000 a year in rent on a house that's worth, let's say, 1.8 at 1.9 million. It makes no sense. No one would do it. So in other words, it's very clear that this money is a kind of funneling of money. It's a way of getting money to the big guy. It's giving Biden his 10% share. And this is something that warrants investigation quite apart from whether it warrants impeachment. It's certainly warrants investigation. Now, the left continues its pathetic efforts to defend Biden. Here's Neil cat yalu is a legal guy in the Obama administration. He goes, imagine if two people borrowed library books and didn't return them. One forgot about the book finds it a couple of years later and then gives it back. "Season three we did an episode with a guy named mac montana. Mex good friend of mine and he's a really talented writer. The episode we made with mac is called the ambassador and it tells the story of max attempts to rebuild his relationship with his mom after decades of separation as we mentioned in that episode one of the inciting incidents in mac separation. His mom was the tragic murder of max brother asher back in nineteen ninety-two which we made partial reference to in the episode but didn't go into very deeply because we were mostly telling the story of mac and his mom by as i also mentioned in that episode one of our pieces of source material in. That story is an essay. Mak wrote about his brother. The essay is an extraordinary piece of memoir and as part of our process on the ambassador. I invited mackin to the studio to read it. The essays called a hollywood ending and it's a family ghosts episode unto itself. It takes a different approach to max family story than we did in the ambassador which is to say it's primarily about ashes and the different ways that it reverberated.

"Getting wrapped up into it and getting a defensive stance on something and then getting attacked for a stance on something and how that can just implode right. The other thing i see that impacts me so much with social media is it setting a precedence on what people should look like and how people should act and how people should think in be perceived by the world right and social media is telling us in its training our brain essentially to think this way about culture society about people about faith about politics all the different things. We're learning all of that and well in just the internet general right and social media. It's it's just so much more present than in the past where those types of things you're talking about you'd you'd hear more in a or see more in like year at the checkout lane at the grocery store and there's magazines right and you have those like images of celebrities or maybe not celebrities muscle and fitness or whatever right and it's like this is this is what a person who's healthy looks like right and it's really everyone's different and and a healthy body can look many different ways right but because that's what they're saying that it's causing that perception and when you then have the world wide web now where it's just everywhere and it's always an arm's reach rate always i mean it's just hard because and it's not just a woman's issue. I know a lot of times. You hear about women. And whether they have body positively or not right. It's the same for men and and yes. There tends to be more leniency with men for whatever reason where you hear about dads being cool and whatever but it's like you don't hear about mom odds that you hear about how quickly a mom snapped back to you know they're pre baby body or whatever right so it's those types of things that you need to guard yourself from as well and not just the being influenced by swear words in a song or movies and things like that. Yeah i would say the things that almost i hit the hardest with when i scroll through social media would i follow a lot of i would say positive influencers a lot of people who post really wholesome godly stuff on social media. And i'm very intentional about doing that. And filtering out people who may be would give me a negative spirit however even in that even in that garden in my heart and guarding of what in letting come into me. You know a lot of what. I'm seeing on social media. Is you're strong enough. You're pretty enough. You're fierce enough. You're capable enough your lincoln blink and blink enough right and it's almost telling me that i have to. I am a certain way. Or a. If i i'm strong enough to do anything i want to do where i'm capable enough to do anything i want to do. And that's a good message but it doesn't mean it's a god message right and we can do. All things through crisis strengthens us and we can do the things that god has put on her heart and god is called and equipped and fashion. Each of us but doesn't mean that is all things trish wants to do. I should do and it's protecting ourselves from even some of that positive messaging that is not necessarily biblical the mentality of if you on it go get it right because not everything you want. You should have honestly right. And it's that mentality of the yugo girl or whatever. I mean just all the different little catchphrases you could have. Yes we want to be positive and we wanna uplift each other and encourage each other to to go out and do things but we have to guard ourselves. That were really evaluating. Is something that. I really should go after not just i want to get a new car. So i'm gonna i want this car. I don't care how much it costs and whatever it takes to take the figure out a way to get the money for it where it's like well. Is that really something you should do or should you put your money elsewhere. Right get something that as a little more feasible so that you can do other things and maybe down the road that car something you can get right but is it. The is that something that you should just. I'm gonna go get it right. I know it's kind of more of a materialistic type of example but it kind of works with anything. It's kind of how the world has pervert or the world i should say. Christian culture has perverted the scripture. That says that god gives us the desires of our hearts into being that if i desire that vehicle or whatever god is going to give it to me not necessarily where i think that's scripture was going right and it's asking god we ask god to search our hearts we ask god to create an us a clean heart when i think. I think there's a big difference between desires of your heart and loss of your heart and lust isn't just lusting after a person. It's lusting after anything right like you. You want that car. You want to have that body type. You want to have that job. You want to make it to the olympics it's cetera right versus desire where it's like. I want to marry trish. Heck yeah you did. God gave me trish. So how do we steward guarding our heart. Well how do we steward guarding. What comes into our heart in what we allowed to infiltrate our heart and i believe personally for me like we talked about last time. It's asking god to search our hearts and see if there's anything that offends him. And i think that would probably be more like a god searches our hearts if there's anything that offends almost as more of things that we're doing that aren't offense to guidance not necessarily longing but we can ask god to create enough clean heart the bible in psalm. Fifty one ten says created me a clean heart. Oh god and renew a steadfast spirit within me. So it's just praying to god and saying. Hey god i know. I know myself i know i need jesus to die on the cross for me. 'cause i know i must her. I know that i've i've failed. And i've fallen short of your glory so many times. And god i ask that you create that clean heart you come in and you purify my heart within me so my heart can be a beautiful reflection of you in the psalm. Seventy three twenty six says my flesh and my heart may fail but god is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. So it's allowing god to come in and be the strength of your heart letting god come in and fill your heart so he can strengthen it and he can guard it and it's when i think of this that it's it's heaven the holy spirit and heaven coming into our heart and colliding in our heart with with the flesh lee man. That is with us start. Our human nature and heaven and earth are clyde ing within our hearts and it's the acceptance of allowing that holy spirit and who god is to come into our hearts and and.

"It's been a little while since you've last heard from us so this week on the podcast. We are continuing on where we left off. If you listen to the last episode we talked about searching your heart and now we're going to continue talking about how you guard your heart okay. But before we dive into deep luscious talk about summer. Because i look forward to summer all school year and i think that summer is going to be this relaxing time of being together as family and going to the beach. Maybe taking road trips and so on summers really busy. I feel like we're almost busier in the summer than we are in the school year. And i think part of that is because we're just overly scheduled but we also lack structure of just being home. Yeah it gets. It gets tricky in the summer at least for us. Maybe maybe it truly is relaxing and road trips. And whatever for you the listener us. It gets really busy with having we do. Have four kids and it's not that they don't do sports in school year because they do. It's just the schedules are different in the summer. and then i'm also helping coach to which. I don't coach other sports other than baseball. So it's very involved for me at that and helping with tournaments and different things so yes just crazy. I just need to start getting my hopes up during the school year that. Hey summer's coming in so it's going to be relaxing because it's false hope anyways. Yeah i'm really excited about what we're talking about in the series. We talked last time about having god. Search your heart in this time. We're gonna talk about gardening. Our heart and proverbs four twenty three says above all else. Guard your heart for everything you do flows from it. What does that look like to guard your heart. And how do we apply that as believers in christ when we talk about guarding your heart so we hope to jump into that today. Break that down a little bit and just starting from that verse that trish red guard your heart for everything you do flows from it everything so a lot of times you might hear someone say. Follow your heart. Follow your dreams follow you know try to. What are your goals. What do you want to do that. All comes from the heart. Some might say oh you know your brain or what are you thinking of or whatever typically it's coming from your heart and i know it's weird because anatomy and biology would say different right so like your heart. Your heart is your life right. It gives its pumping blood and making everything work. Obviously your brain is a big deal that too. And i think when we're talking guard your heart in verse talking guard your heart. It's not the physical heart. It's the heart of it. Is your desires. So the bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks and it's what is inside of us. What are we filling her heart with. Are we putting in our heart. Are we meditate on the word of god. Are we thinking about things. That are wonderful and beautiful. And then out of that that we're putting in our heart comes out of our mouth and impacts the world around us. Because i words have the ability to bring life and death rate and so they can put words hurt and they can cause a lot of destruction. So it's that guarding of our heart guarding what we're allowing into our heart because eventually what we allow into our heart does come out of us in matthew thirty three through thirty seven. I'm just going to read it to you. It's as a tree as identified by its fruit. If a tree is good it's fruit will be good for trees. Bad it's fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes. How could evil men like you speak. What is good and right for whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And i tell you this you must give an account on judgment day. For every idle word you speak the words you say will either acquit you or condemn. You kinda freaks me out a little bit to be honest with you thinking about standing before god on judgment day in being held account of over everything i've ever said right. I don't understand that verse so much. I know the blood of jesus covers us. But it honestly is one of those verses. Let him i stay in over. And i don't really comprehend fully. I know in part. But i loved what you said that he has said it for whatever is in your heart determines what you say so. It's the things that we put into our heart that determine what we say in a good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart rate. And so it's it's the old saying of garbage in garbage out so if if you're filling your life with good things and hopefully then you can produce good right and you can. You can be a good person and where it becomes. An issue is when it's when you're never giving yourself as something good right. You're just taking in all the different filler. Right could be could be just filler. Could be honestly just evil things right and what that is going to do to your to you and what you're gonna then produces is going to be evil right and it's that's why we're talking about guarding yourself and when i think of that i think of the scripture that says be anxious for nothing but in everything in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. Make your request known to god and the peace of god which surpasses all comprehension. Guards your hearts and your minds. In christ jesus and i think of that when you're talking about that thaddeus while we're letting come into us and how what we let come into stirs up anxiety within us or i i'll i'll go more specific what i let come into me. Sirs up anxiety in me. And when i ruminated on that and i allow what i'm watching the news or seen in culture and social media infiltrate my mind and it goes into my heart and it's it brings turmoil within me and it brings a sense of uneasiness. And when i look at the scripture. What it's telling me to do win that anxiety comes and those things feed into me. It tells me to bring it to god in prayer and supplication and thanksgiving because what happens how we guard our hearts what the scriptures say in how we got our hearts is if we go to god with these things with per supplication thanksgiving. That god's gives us piece it says the peace of god surpasses. all comprehension. Will come in to us when we go to god in prayer and that's what guards our hearts and our minds in christ jesus. I think that's good. The you brought up social media and things like that. Because so often it's just right on the forefront social media and it's and also the media right news outlets and things like that but a lot of what's on the news and media outlets hit social media and then is even brought up to higher levels right where it's a because everyone has their own opinions and you have keyboard warriors out there and and you have people like me. Just laugh it off. Because i think it's funny and entertaining so but i can see where it could be for anyone where it could be an issue where just.

It's almost like like the status symbol of not wearing a tuxedo. Make your so rich. You don't wear a tuxedo. And that's the art movement of going like but we're also shame and sexual ri- energy and fear and self doubt but that's a luxury because you were so built up and then you're seeing white women or whatever being built up with sex in the city and then the next step is is the art movement of going but we're also we have diarrhea and we're scared sometimes and we're and on girls. Training part of the the mindfulness training a big part of it is like diversity equity inclusion and accessibility training and you we have like separate groups for white people and for people of color. Because we've we've talked about this. There's no like of course. That is has some complications and they get that question a lot. I think of like. Why are we doing this. But if you are talking about race issues with where they're mixed there's white people than the peop- the burden often falls on the people of color to like educate the white people and it doesn't feel like totally safe space for them of course understandably so Anyway so we're meeting in these white groups and we're finding like so many of us have a story of like. I was raised by by parents. Who really were against racism and like would even talk about that or like some people are like their you know their parents were like hippies and would march and stuff but they didn't know any black people lived in like a very white area league a white bubble and we're just really seeing i think representation in.
