I don't need to go into that any more depth, but that was basically kind of woke me up and I started thinking critically and trying to apply what I learned from history forwards to today. And I find that when talking about Bitcoin, that is what resonates with people the most is giving historical examples and giving all the examples. And I think the reason for that is because we tend to get caught up in the moment, like trying to understand the technology, jargon, how does it work? Why does it work? This, that and the other. And I think putting it in the context of the greater human story say, I think helps it make a lot more sense. And to me, when I was reflecting on what parts of that story are the most undeniable and the most objective or at least as close to objective as possible. One of those seemed to be the exponential curve of technology. I mean, we all in this chat knew it, but not even the people that hate Bitcoin. You think it's a scam or it's a Ponzi or whatever. Even they are forced to recognize that technology is an exponential curve. And it's only changing life faster and faster. And so I had a little thought experiment to myself one day. I was like, I was taking looking backwards. I was in Israel last year. And that was amazing to me because I saw so many places of the ancient world, you know, two, three, 4000 years old, and it was amazing for me to think of that in context with all, you know, anyone in the room here that's been in an ancient place, you know, whether it's the pyramids, or whatever. For me, it's a very strange experience because there's like, okay, these things are here near these pyramids or this building or the stone or this rock or whatever. It's been here for thousands of years. And there have been there's been more change in this local landscape than the last hundred years.

And I turned it into a number theory and cryptography course was cryptography was a thing you could do with number theory. So I went looking for uses of cryptography like crypto number theory and cryptography and discovered Bitcoin. But I didn't immediately go, how do I buy this? I didn't go like, how do I ape into this thing? It's a new asset class. I just thought this is going to change the world. Interesting. And that's the kind of mid curve thing to do. Find something interesting, but not do anything about it. Yes. That's definitely it is now. But I suppose from an academic perspective, you're used to approaching things with academic rigor. I imagine just psychologically it must be hard for you to just go right, money in a park, go. Yes. And it's something I've been reflecting on for a long time, really, is like, why didn't I buy you do think about these things? Because I've known about Bitcoin for 13, 12, 13 years. But didn't buy any till 2016. And then the most are bought of it the first time round was like at the top in 2017. I was like, that's when I was like, right now is the time. So this is going to 250 K and yeah, it was not that first run of really felt like you were on to early on to something, even I thought I was late in 2016. Because it had been around for so long and I had made like weed off the dark market or whatever with Bitcoin. And yeah, we're like posting about it on Facebook in 2013. And you know, all right, people using that stuff now. And yeah, and then he even buying some myself to buy some kind of like sketching neutral nootropics of the off the Internet. Because I had some papers to finish writing or something. And I bought some Bitcoin and got it and thought this is yeah, this is super interesting. This is a new payment system, I get it. Well, they found a 4000 year old artifact at this dig site. And it was made of solid ivory. And it looked at first they were like, what is this? So it was one of the fascinating things about this because this ivory came from an elephant tusk that must have come from Egyptian traders, so we knew that the canaanites were not only well traveled, but really wealthy because even back then this solid ivory comb would cost a fortune. "The viewership numbers for the new Lord of the Rings series going to get a boost. Advertising alone must have cost Amazon a pretty penny. How much do they sink into this project? From what we understand reportedly a $1 billion so far, 250 million of that was for the rights to Lord of the Rings that they paid for back in 2017, then another 465 million apparently to make this season. And then they're on the hook also for the next season, which they've already green lit, which is another at least 304 100 million is more. So we're looking at a $1 billion. And one of the reasons it costs so much money is because they built all these sets, which they plan to use for several years for this project. So a lot of that came up front. But they built actual cities and towns and ports and ships and all this stuff that they're going to need when they filmed in New Zealand So and you see it on the screen. I mean, it looks fantastic. I mean, we're really in a golden age here of television shows where the stuff that we're getting on the small screen is just as good if not better than the stuff we're getting on the big screen. I haven't seen a new load of the rings movie since the first trilogy came out. I never got around to watching The Hobbit movies, do I need to do any homework? No, I don't think so. If you want to refresh yourself, maybe that would be fun. But this starts about 4000 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and the hobbits. So while there's crossover in kind of history, there's not a whole lot of crossover in characters. There are a couple of characters. Galadriel, who is the elf queen from Lord of the Rings, played by Kate Blanchett. Her character not played by Cate Blanchett and this one is here. 4000 years earlier because galadriel, I think, is 8000 years old or something like that. So here she is a fierce warrior elf who's running around trying to find the bad guy. So but if you know the rich history of J.R.R. Tolkien and Lord of the Rings, I'm sure there's a lot for you to really love. But this is a kind of origin story that nobody has really seen before. So everybody is coming in mostly on fresh ground. Okay, what if I want to laugh this weekend? Anything new out in the theater? In the theaters right now, there's only one new movie out this weekend. It's called honk for Jesus, save your soul. It's a religious satire starring Sterling K Brown and Regina hall as a pastor and First Lady of a mega church who got caught up in scandal and they're trying to recapture their old glory days. Sterling get Brown is born to play a pastor. He's fantastic in this role. The comedy is it's there. It's subtle. It's also streaming on peacock. So my advice would be to watch it streaming, I don't know that it's worth going to the theater and paying money for. And just like we saw a few years ago with close encounters now in 3D, you can see those lifeless eyes, black eyes like a doll's eyes, tell me more about the rerelease of jaws. Yeah, that's in theaters now for I think it's about a week. So you're going to want to catch it this weekend. And really my advice would be to on Saturday, it's national cinema day. The first ever national cinema day where theaters around the country over 3000 nationwide are offering up their movies for $3 per showing. It doesn't matter which one morning noon night whatever. Three bucks. So on Saturday, you go see jaws in IMAX for $3. That's the way to go. 3D it has its detractors that has people who like it. I'm not personally a huge fan. That's when the schools baseball coach put in a request for the school districts first rainwater harvesting cistern. Since then, the district has installed tanks at 5 other schools that together can capture more than 500,000 gallons. School districts are big resource consumers, says Lisa Randall. Let's talk about the changeover leadership. It is really if you don't mind. I mean, I know how close Israel is with the United States. It's our best friend in the Middle East, obviously, Christians and and, uh and and Israel very, very connected as well. Israel Is the promised land. I think a lot of people think that heaven is the promised land. It's not It's Israel and the importance of Israel historically, never changes in my mind. But depending on who's in leadership there and who's in leadership here, it does seem to change in the minds of many. So let's just start from the very basic start. Netanyahu is out. He was in in control for a long time. Got a new guy in there now. Does that make a difference to us and what's the difference with the Israeli people? For for us as American Jews. I think the biggest change in the picture is this is your latest. This is almost a delivered as a reputation to Israel as the quote unquote apartheid state in that region. Uh, it's for a long time been the only country in that region with both Jews and Arabs in its Supreme Court. Government media, you name it, but now you have a government cobbled together that includes an expressly Islamic Arab party in the government. As part of the leadership, and it's part of a leadership along with a right wing party, with Naftali Bennett being characterized by the left for so long as a racist, anti Arab and yet now he's created a government with them. So I think for American for Americans is actually a positive message that can be taken away from that change in government and change in leadership, not even because of what they will accomplish. But just because of what this government represents its rabbi, Uh, Yakov making getting the first name right now, the second overseas affecting me for no reason, But but I appreciate meeting you appreciate having you on as we do this more more. I'm sure that the name will flow more freely from my tongue. If you can, can you just very quickly if This is your purview. If it's not, we can move on. He's very quickly explain to those who are watching and listening the dynamic of Palestine and Israel. And here's what I mean. There never really was a Palestine. The Palestinians, really Jordanian and their Egyptian. They're not really Palestinians. That's just something that I guess we've taken from the biblical philistine. Um Israel was historically That was their land for 4000 years. They kept on being driven out by the by the country surrounding them. But now in this day and age, there are young people who are growing up in a generation who really believe that Israel showed up and said, I'm taking Palestine from you, which really didn't happen. There wasn't a Palestine there, right? Do I have the dynamic right or is the modernized view of that region more correct? Actually, Joe, you put it together incredibly well. The name Palestine itself comes from European colonialism. That's what it is. It's Greco Roman colonialists. It goes back quite a few years, but they are the ones who called that region, Palestine's specifically in order to disenfranchise the Jews. From their homeland, which was called Judea or the land of Israel, because it rather expressly said what it was and whose it once this idea the Jews didn't live there and moved in like a bunch of colonialists is Entirely fictional, and in fact, the modern day Palestinian is a racist concept. And why do I say that? Because if you go back to the late 18 hundreds, the majority of Jerusalem's population was choose. And as before, there was any Zionism. It was all about Jews wanting to live. And who are they to do that? Who the hell are they to do that? And so this is this movement, particularly the the trans movement as they call it, I suppose that rejects it. And so your Facebook pushing 58 different varieties and others pushing four different varieties. And now when you get on an airline you can you can say male female other whatever That means. And you can see this being pushed by the Department of Education again. It's being pushed in our schools transgenderism. If somebody is transgender ring And they're of proper age. Nobody cares. Nobody said. Don't do whatever we people may have their opinion. If you're going to make a public, it doesn't belong in elementary schools. One of the entities that's pushing it among students is the United Nations, and you'll see again an American Marxism the book and they have a whole teaching plan that's being used now. Are we about to see a ceasefire regarding Hamas and it's a mas going to agree to such a thing? I mean, is the big question. There's a lot of rumors out there right now. And and from a military perspective perspective, I can only tell you how we're posturing. Right now. We are acting as if there is no cease fire whatsoever. I mean, we the army has hit and many many targets over the last 24 hours, we shifted our operations. From the area that underground terror city that Hamas built with international funding, which has been called the Metro exit looks kind of like underground subway metro system. But instead of transporting civilian transports terrorism and we moved shifted our operations to the Southern area, the Gaza Strip, which is where they have the missile silos. Their storage facilities. We had enormous numbers of operations and success over the last 24 hours and just understand what this means. I mean, Hamas. We've taken out there a lot of their manufacturing. We took out most of their underground city, but the actual rockets they spread these things all under Gaza. Every one of them is inside a home so last night We took out rockets that were in. I'm not exaggerating inside the cupboard inside a home not only in the moments that one of the homes of the former justice minister of Hamas in his coverage he's got the Rockets so again, you notify the families. You call them. You wake them up. You look at them. You watch them leave, And then you take out the rocket. You look for secondary explosion. That is how painstaking It is because I must put everything near civilians, eh? So we're moving forward with all of our targets and is long as we don't receive a red light, and we're continually able to do that. We were moving forward with the mission of crippling Hamas infrastructure. That is really that's what our focus is right. Take a second to talk about this idea of rockets very often will see the American press talked about rockets being launched into Israel. But rockets will make you think of the Rockets red glare. It's almost Independence Day. Fourth of July, almost In the ether. Could you discuss what the military capacity of Hamas is their firepower and the sophistication of the weaponry? Sure Hamas began this conflict with around 12,000 plus or minus rockets, the payload on a rocket to put it in normal civilian terms. If that rocket lands near a home, the entire home is incinerated and and everyone in that home was killed. I mean that that that is what Iraq it means It's not a firework. And that is not even one of the stronger rockets. The direction capability and the Rockets is not fantastic of those 12,000. They have a few 100 rockets that are able to hit Jerusalem. If we go back in time, 11 days ago, they did fire rockets at Jerusalem again. My own Children Rangers from on that very day, my own kids before I was Holed up in the army. My own kids had to take shelter. You know, Imagine a bunch of kids were out and all the side and sirens, you know, start ringing and they had did you know they had to take shelter and so a few 100 are able to hit Jerusalem. On other far reaches of the country had tell Aviv um it's it's home made with Iranian technology and funding. When you see that happening in the United States, what is the take on those kinds of demonstrations? Look, It's very, very sad, um to Israelis, and we do love the United States. United States is our greatest ally. I will say this. I think this is reflective of something. You know Israelis. We have plenty of internal problems in our country. But we do know our story. Israelis know that our story we know that we are people that have been around for 4000 years. And when the com discussions when we see this lack of support from certain sectors, it's just seems to be people who don't know their own story.
