What We Learned From the Latest Fox News-Dominion Case Filing
"Uncovered covers new ground. And it does so. There's only one anonymous source that I would call from the book, Steve, which is the NBC News executive who wants to blast Fox and go on the record with you to do so. I think you only quoted one anonymous source. I've got to tell you getting bob ley to talk to you this way. Getting all these people to talk to Tucker, it's not going to help them in the dominion news case. I was talking with Chris Christie earlier today about the dominion news case. You obviously went to press before that happened. Does it change your opinion of anything since those text messages came out? No, not necessarily. I mean, I think that there is it's an interesting story. I think anytime you can read the text messages of people in power, it gets juicy. And so I think what's interesting about the dominion case is that frankly, in the original filing, 400 pages by dominion, 200 or so pages where Lou Dobbs, tweets, and Instagram posts at Facebook posts, Lou Dobbs, more than perhaps anyone was the driving force of the dominion lawsuit and of the kraken from Sidney Powell and Lou Dobbs was the guy who was fired immediately after the lawsuit was put out. So I think that's an interesting note. But I think it does also reveal that it was a really perilous time in November 2020. And I don't get too much into that in the book, but I do think that there was a real moment. I wrote about in my newsletter that I kind of described this blood in the water where Trump is spinning these lies and we see in the text messages, people like Tucker talking about the fact that Trump is spewing this and is hurting the people that are both fans of Trump and fans of Fox News

I want to write a university, the subject was white privilege is a myth. Now, mind you, we're at a university where people should be able to explore differences of opinion. And I show up there, it was supposed to only be 50 people at a turning point chapter. It ended up being 450 people. 400 of them were black people from the black student union. They were the most disrespectful people that I've ever experienced at any of these universities. And the ignorance of those young people were astonishing, one of the girls walked up, she came to the mic to do the Q&A. And she started coming at me with all these excuse by my mom was a crackhead and all this, and I said, sister. Are you on full scholarship? She goes, yeah, I'm on full scholarship. I got a food. I said, so your mama don't have to pay for it, right? Yeah, yeah, I know. I know 'cause I had a full scholarship. My parents had to pay for my scholars. I said, but this is God's opportunity for you to be a generational changer. Meaning that you don't have to live in a footsteps of your mother. You now have an opportunity to get a free education from a university. And you can go on and become what you want to be. The world is literally up for you to take advantage of. This is God giving you an olive branch. And I didn't say it is irritated as I say on now. I just spoke to her in a loving Conway like I would do my own sister. And they booed me, they boot me. All of these 400 of them, not all of them. I'm pretty sure some of them in the crowd probably didn't boot me, but it's just roaring booze. And I don't probably know Luna that ran for office in one. She was there with me. It was me and her on the stage. They booed me. I'll throw you a sellout Uncle Tom because I told another young black woman that you can be whatever you want to be in America. And that you don't have to be subjugated to your mother's mistakes, God is giving you an opportunity you have a full scholarship. It is your time.

And a over a 4000 percent increase in the number of life threatening adverse events reported. And that's compared to a full 400% increase in the total number of vaccines given.

"Another disappointing inflation report thumps Wall Street. I'm Lisa dwyer. Stocks fell by the most in four weeks following more evidence that high inflation is staying stickier than expected. The S&P dropped 1.4% after a report set inflation at the wholesale level slowed by less last month than economists had forecast. It echoed a report on prices at the consumer level from earlier this week that suggested inflation isn't cooling as quickly and as smoothly as hoped. The Dow was down 431 points or 1.3%, while the NASDAQ dropped 1.8%. Stocks have been turning recently as worries about persistently high inflation could push the Federal Reserve to get even more

"Joining us now is colonel Douglas macgregor colonel. Welcome back to the program. Love having you on and our audience is just enthusiastic every time you come on because you're clear and also contrarian to the nonsense that we see on television from the military industrial complex. What is the latest in Ukraine? Is it true that Russia is likely planning a blitz or a major offensive in the coming weeks? Well, I think the major offensive Charlie is actually already begun. It's not beginning the way we would begin an offensive. One of the things the Russians made explicitly clear is that they were not interested in this shock at all business. That's not how they do business. So what we're watching at the moment are a couple of things that your audience needs to know. First of all, the numbers of artillery strikes, rockets, missiles, hard shell artillery has risen dramatically. Most of it, not all of it, but most of it is focused on destroying air defense. Air defense radars air defense capabilities. And that is logical because once you've stripped away the air defense, then there is nothing to interfere with your own close air support as well as all of your other stand off attack missile and rocket systems. Secondly, they've marshaled an enormous number of forces down in the south of Ukraine on the east side of the dnieper river. And moving from left to right from zamora, which is near the river over to bakh mood, which everybody's under great deal about. And then up to a place called liman, close to the river, that's about a four, three, 400 kilometer stretch, and they have marshaled roughly 250 to 300,000 troops there. And then in the western part of Russia, another 100,000. And what we're seeing is an incremental rollout of these forces. These are many of the mobilized forces. They are led by combat experienced commanders, but many of these troops have not seen combat to this point.

Boeing plans to cut about 2,000 finance and HR jobs in 2023
"Boeing has announced its cutting jobs in the finance and human resources departments. The company says a total of about 2000 jobs will be eliminated this year. According to the Seattle times, Boeing plans to cut about 1500 finance jobs and about 400 HR positions. But Boeing issued a statement saying it will quote significantly grow its workforce this year, with plans to add another 10,000 employees with a focus on engineering and manufacturing. Last year, Boeing said it added 15,000 jobs. The company had 156,000 employees at the end of 2022. I'm Mike Hempen.

"Tell you, Gordon Lightfoot story. So we used to we have the world's largest songwriters festival late March early April. You've been ten pants out. We do a hundred shows, 400 riders, and 5 nights. We take over the town, and it's amazing. And one of my favorite parts is you never know who's going to show up. But we used to kick it off. We don't do it anymore for a lot of reasons. With the legend show. And this night it was Gordon Lightfoot, Donna Summer. I think kitty wells. It's just potpourri through time of fantastic songwriters, songwriter artist. And I think Gordon would acknowledge this. Gordon, you know, he's been doing this for 50 something years. So he agrees to do it, but look, he doesn't really have a relationship with us. He does it because of the other songwriters who are going to be on that Bill. I think America was on that Bill. It was an unbelievable show. And so it was a little high maintenance. Gordon goes, I need private jets. I need this and we just can't do it. So he ends up paying his own way down there. And it was in the tens of thousands. And like, go to my dressing room, whatever. Until the show started. And he walks out of the dress and I saw him watched on a summer, I saw him watch kitty wells, and he started crying. Because Bart, Bart, this is why I did it in the first place. I hadn't felt this in years. And so he does his gig, stunning. He goes back and calls me the next morning in Canada, and we're both a little weepy and he goes. At least for a moment, it took me back to why I did this in the first place. And that just meant so much to me because as you know, we're a songwriter town. And the artistry and the staging and the big stadiums and the smoke bombs. But when it's just you and a guitar, there's something emotional about that and Gordon felt it. I am proud we made him feel that for a night.

Saudi Arabia announced that Islam's annual Hodge pilgrimage will return to pre-pandemic levels this year. In previous years, the annual religious commemoration was curtailed over concerns about the coronavirus. The Hajj is required of all able bodied Muslims once in their life and represents one of the world's largest gatherings of people. "Senator Scott, how are you going to navigate now being in the Senate minority? What power if any do you have to be able to issue subpoenas and have meaningful oversight be done? I think the biggest thing we do is we each have a pulpit. And we can talk about things. That's why I think what's going on in the house right now is you're starting to see a lot of people out there being vocals. That's the biggest thing. And I plant my plan. They say rescue America dot com. I think everybody ought to say, this is what I believe in, and let's fight over what the right answer is. That's one. Number two is we won't be, you know, the way the committee structure works, the Democrats will control the committee's side. It's a public demand that we really have better understanding of what Joe Biden and Hunter Biden's relationship was with China. The Democrats are going to have to do it. So I think the key is, we need to get out there, talk about the issues and put the Democrats in position. There's going to be, I think, what, 24 Democrats up this next cycle, they're going to have to start worrying about their elections. So I think we have to be constantly out there. So I can propose bills. I can push things on committees. I can ask the federal government for more accountability accountability. So like yesterday, I talked to secretary orchestra Homeland Security about 400% increase in migrants in the Florida keys. Now, I'm going to be very vocal that it's his job to fix it. I think he is misrepresented or lied whatever you want to call it. Where we are on the border. But I'm going to hold him accountable. He'll come and he'll be coming to talking for a committee. And I'm going to ask him, how he's doing. I'm going to do that with everybody. That's what every senator has the option to do this. We just all have to be very aggressive at doing it.

Mpox has faded in the US. Who deserves the credit?
"Reports of new cases of empaths formerly known as monkeypox are down to a trickle in the U.S.. Health officials are shutting down emergency mobilizations. We had our peak of impacts of over 400 cases in August. The threat of empath seems to have virtually disappeared from the public consciousness, CDC director doctor Rochelle Walensky says there are a number of reasons for this. We had a lot of education that was getting out there both to providers who could educate their patients and who knew what to look for know what to test for. But also to patients and to community members who started to learn how to that this was out there and that they needed to do things to keep themselves safe. There's also a vaccine and past research suggests there may be limits in how many times monkeypox virus will spread from person to person. Before I realized it, I said, we should go running together sometime. It was that night that I realized I'd better start running. At the time it felt near impossible, but on some level, I felt I could really be a runner. Today I'm a distance runner for several other reasons. I'm completed several marathons, ultras, and I run to show my kids what's possible. I run to show them what it looks like to chase really big goals, crush life and build the impossible. Fun fact, I married the guy I wanted to impress him for 25 years ago, but even more importantly, I'm proud of who I've become as a distance runner. Hello, my name is Mindy, and I live in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I started running after my second son was born. And I never stopped running. So he is 27 years old this year. I was always mesmerized by athletes and one day it just clicked. I'm going to begin to train for a half marathon. And many of you probably know what that leads to. I did 5 marathons as of this year. I did my 5th one in Scranton, and I did my best time and felt the best at age 58 than I ever have. Run on run free wild thing is my model and I got a tattoo last year with that on it. Like so many, I just started running as a means to get some exercise in my day. And truthfully, when I first started thinking about running a full marathon, that seemed so out of reach. And I was just so amazed that people were able to run that long of a distance. Fast forward, I eventually got enough courage to sign up for my first full marathon in Chicago in 2019. I started long distance running because I once heard that less than one half of 1% of people on the planet have ever ran a marathon and I thought I think I can do that. I also had a wonderful group of friends awesome running community and that really helped motivate me to run my first marathon. My name is Christy Albers. I live in Franklin Tennessee, and I was a runner for a long time before I started doing distance. I was doing 5 ks, month after month, and I was at a race that had a 5 K and a ten mile, so I stayed after my race, and I was watching the people cross the finish line, and I thought the women running the ten mile look so strong and powerful and I thought it was just amazing that they were doing something so to me at the time seeming so impossible. And so at that race, I decided I was going to do that next year. And so I ran the ten mile next year and over that time I started cementing my identity of a person who can do something that's difficult. And I loved setting a goal that would really challenge me and doing it and then feeling like, wow, I accomplished something that was hard. And then I decided to go from that ten mile to train for a half marathon. And I got my boss to do it with me. And about halfway through that training cycle, my boss and I realized that if we added two miles every weekend, then we could run the full marathon instead of the half. So we did that. I ran my first marathon before the half marathon. And it was awesome except for I got that thing where you drink too much water and not enough anything else. I didn't know about that. And I fainted at mile 17 and then woke back up and somebody gave me some salt and I finished the race and it was terrible. That afternoon after I was sitting on the couch, I thought to myself, wow, I bet I could do better. And I did it the next year, and then I kept on thinking I bet I could do more. I bet I could do better. And I only ever intended to run one, but now I've run 16 marathons. I love it, having accomplished something difficult. It builds mental resilience for other things in your life, like a hard work situation, or even be able to handle boredom. So I just love it now, and I can't imagine ever not being a runner. Back in 2008, I added to my bucket list, the goal to run around the world. You know, the circumference of the world at the equator is 25,000 miles. So since 2008, I began tracking every mile I've run. Now I'm not the world's best runner, and I am not fast. I slog along whether I'm running two miles or 26 miles. And while I think a lot of people would say, oh, I would love to like, to me that reminds me a bit of people saying, oh, sure, I would love to see a phone. But it's so difficult to actually design a phone. And it's so difficult to actually make this ecosystem sticky. Because you need to make it interoperable. It already drives me insane on certain things that the Tesla is actually the car. It's not interoperable as well with the phone, which sometimes drives me insane. A Mercedes is way more interrupted with an iPhone than a Tesla. And while I love how interoperable one Tesla is with another, that's incredible. It just drives me insane how my phone does not properly speak to that car. And so yeah, I would just, I would be probably while I would find it super exciting and I would cheer Elon on. I would probably sell my Tesla shares in this moment in that moment. Just because I would struggle to see how he's going to compete against traditional media, how he's competing against all the other car companies and then how he's competing against the most powerful machine this world has seen so far with Apple and I think he should, I think him fighting two battles, that's fine. Fighting three battles. I don't know, that's not what I would want to see. As a shower, honestly, so just to put it in conspiracy comparison and I know for the fact that you tweeted about this a few months back, like it's mind boggling to me how you, for example, the CEO of a sizable company, how you structure your day and you find the time to get involved in all these different kinds of apartments being very hands on knowing everywhere what's going on and still I know you share a bit of how you structure your days, which they are insane, like every minute is planned through and through and through from sporting to wifey time, how you call it and the kids and the company. We're going to save everything. We're going to print a bunch of money and we're going to bail out or we're going to drop some AirDrops or some UBI or some stimulus or whatever. This is 9 out of ten times if a country has the possibility to either let it slide and burn down the bush or to print money they're going to print money. And I think this time is not going to be different and in my mind still Bitcoin or crypto is a great liquidity hatch, not really an inflation hatch a hatch for more quantitative easing for more QE. And I definitely can foresee a moment so that the fed, they're going to keep hiking rates until something breaks. Between the line, Paul practically said that they are going to do that. And usually it is not within the United States that something is going to break. It is offshore. So it's probably going to be Europe or it's probably going to be Japan or any other unforeseen thing. And if I just look at crypto things, what makes me bullish is I look at a few things and I look at addresses with more than 0.01 Bitcoin hitting all time highs, other addresses with more than one Bitcoin hitting new alternates. So the platforms they're stacking. They're buying their hobbling. If I look at who's actually selling within the last 6 months or so, it is mainly people that are new in the ecosystem. It's mainly new addresses is mainly people that came in in 2020 in 2021. Those people are selling hash rate is doing exceptional. We can see a small setback, not really that it's starting to drop, but like maybe a pass. And also that profitability is super low, that miners are selling probably the most as they have been setting since 2018. So there is minor calculation ongoing. We see big players going insolvent BlockFi entering chapter 11, which are all kind of signs to me that we are very close to bottom. And also, if you overlay past bottoms with the cycle that we are having right now, we're right about in the range where a bottom seems to be happening or on the table. And.

"My one good thing. Is this tiny tomato? Lisa, that's a baby baby tomato. What's going on? It is, I mean, I guess technically it's a grape tomato like from a grape tomato plant, but it feels very small. I grew it in my garden. And I have a very small garden that only grows small things, and I've only gotten two tomatoes off this plant. It's not enough to make anything. It's like you can put it in the first tomato I ate, I cut it up and I put some like a little mozzarella balls in there and I put some basil in and I seasoned it and I ate it like a freaking shish kebab. But yeah, every time I get a little tomato off this plant, I'm like, I grew that. And I just have this little moment of pride in my garden. I get to eat something that I grew. And I'm like, is this what? Like Rosie the rover felt like in 1942 or what? Come on now. Homesteading. That's it. My little tomatoes just make me smile. It's wonderful. I love it, Lisa. It's guarding time. Yay. It's garden time. It's always gardening time for me, but like, you know, it's nice to reap the harvest or whatever. Karen, what is your one good thing? It's a book surprise. It's called under lock and skeleton key. It's by Gigi pandian. It's about a family of magicians that own a construction company and they make secret rooms in people's houses. What? It's adorable. Is this fiction or nonfiction? It's fiction. Oh, okay. There's a mystery involved and they're trying to solve the mystery and there's some magic. I'm going to tell you straight. The mystery, it has some holes in the plot. I do not care. Like this book is adorable. Just the descriptions of what the houses look like and how they build in these kind of secret passageways and stuff. It's very atmospheric. And I really loved the break my brain got just to imagine these spaces and imagine this mystery. Also, the family that's involved, some of the family members are from India and so there's lots of talk about southern Indian food, which I really loved. I love this book, the characters are great. The plot, the mystery is like, yeah, whatever. The atmosphere is fantastic. So I just got a lot of warm fuzzies out of this one. That is amazing. I love the idea of this. I also would watch this as an HGTV show, if anyone wanted to do a show about secret rooms built into houses, I would attend. This is just great. And I truly hope that someday when my novel comes out that people say, there were some holes in the plot, but I didn't care. I really hope that's okay, because honestly, it's a testament to the writer, I think. To their skill in crafting something that you're just keeping, you just keep trying on the page. "Say again. Who's gonna fight me? Who's gonna go back in the archives and count and fight me? Nobody. Nobody. So, fuck it. Welcome to our episode. We are really excited to do 400 of anything. I'm glad I did 400 of something. This is delightful. Our format's going to be slightly different. We have a story that we want to do for you. And then we have a bunch of questions that we're going to answer because you guys sent in some amazing questions for this episode. So Lisa, tell us the first story about Esprit. We're going to take a little historical trip. We haven't done one of these in a while where we've done just like one story and told you the history of a brand or a particular situation. So why not do it now? Thank you to listener Haiti, who sent us this article and I promised that I was going to tell you all about it in a previous episode and then my brain forgot. So here I am now. Here it is. So this story comes from an article in SF gate by Joshua bote. It's called the rise and fall of a spree. San Francisco's coolest clothing brand. Picture it 1968. We weren't on the moon yet. That happened the next year. Susie Tompkins has started a dress company with her friend Jane tice. Susie's husband, Doug, soon gets involved. He's got a little money to invest because the couple, Suzy and Doug, just sold their outdoor shop, the north face. Just a little company, you know? A company that is unknown to us is a little mysterious company. They open a garment factory for plain Jane, which is susy's new venture it focuses on dresses that lacked a lot of the fussiness of the look that was popular in the 50s and 60s. Like this brand was ready for the 70s. By 1970, the brand is doing so well that they move from a tiny showroom to a bigger one in San Francisco. And the three partners rename the company to a spree decor. They also bring in two more people for a total of 5 individuals running the company. This is basically like at this point of these 5 people. Doug commissions a nearby garment factory called zheng said to make clothing exclusively for Esprit de corps. But in 1974, the workers went on strike for allegations of poor working conditions. Also, delayed pay and allegations of racism. Hey, nothing changed. Uh uh. According to documents, Doug had made a rule that the 135 workers could use no more than two rolls of toilet paper per day. Oh, God. Oh, no. Oh no. You hate to see it, truly. This is not a supportive IBS month either. You all need to recognize that even in the 70s, people had IBS, okay? Doug locked the workers out of the factory and got police to arrest picketing workers. It became one of the first major union strikes by Chinese immigrant women in the country in the United States. In December of 1975, Tompkins was forced to pay back wages to the factory workers. Cool, right? Like, cool. Except then the fire came in January 1976 and burned all of Esprit's headquarters. Not the factory, but the headquarters for the company. Firefighters on the scene told the San Francisco Chronicle. That's not the way buildings usually burn. Is this a fashion crime? It could be, but let me tell you. Okay, okay, okay. I don't have enough details to say that for certain. Okay. Speculation? I will say this, as I move on, a year or two, after this suspicious fire, we can say it's suspicious. Doug kicks everyone else at a leadership and buys out their shares, except for him and his wife. This is referred to in the SF 8 article as a coup. Oh. This is when the Tompkins couple drops the decor from the name. It's just a spree now. In the 80s, the company went bay, headquarters had the new headquarters, had a gym and organic juice bar and a trampoline. So I feel like they were a little ahead of their time. Right, save your ping Pong table, they got a trampoline. By 1989, a spree had 80 stores and outlets in the U.S., plus its presence in department stores. So things were looking pretty good. But when a spree posted its first ever losses in 1987, Doug and Susie Tompkins blamed one another, and outsiders blame them both, according to this SF gay article. Oh. Oh. The couple divorced in 1988, but they couldn't agree on who was going to run the company. At one point, the two of them were even shooting competing ads. How dumb is that? How dumb. Dumb dumbs. And with the 90s on the horizon, enthusiasm was fading for the peak 80s vibe Esprit was still getting. In 1992, the company launched E collection, aligned with organic cotton and wool, but it didn't do well with younger audiences. Susie Tompkins launched a signature line next, but it was too dark and dowdy according to critics. The company even spent 8 million on a 1991 ad campaign called what would you do? I don't know if you remember this car and you might have been living overseas at the time, but the campaign asked real teenagers what they would do to make the world better. You have a young Gwyneth Paltrow appearing in one of the ads saying that she would distribute condoms in every high school in America. It was pretty radical at the time. And it was a hit socially..

"How rare is that? So now we have to say dietary supplement health and education act. So now the FDA has food, drugs, cosmetics, and supplements. So supplements are their own category now and so since 1994, they've been regulated by the FDA as supplements. One of the biggest myths that exist is that supplements are not regulated. They are highly regulated. And we've discussed these regulations in past episodes. When you hear somebody say supplements are not regulated, it should tell you one of two things. Either they are disingenuous, they know their regulated, but they're not telling you the truth because they want to prejudice your opinion, or they're just woefully under informed. Certainly somebody says they're not regulated, does not understand that this law and this regulation now exists and companies are being regulated by the FDA all the time. You might not see it as a consumer, but it is certainly there. There's a lot of elements to the de che, one of those is the development of good manufacturing practices. So there are a lot of things that came out of de che that were for the good. The problem is always been lax enforcement on the part of the FDA. The FDA just doesn't have the manpower, the will power or the inclination to go after some of these egregious players in the supplement space. And so we've talked about things like adulteration, poor quality, ingredients, poor quality, manufacturing, ingredients that are in the product that aren't on the label, products that are listed on the label that aren't actually in the product or are in the product in insufficient amounts. So there's all kinds of challenges in the marketplace. And that's why it's important for you as a consumer to understand what these challenges are. And what are the signs of a good company and what are some of the warning flags of poor quality companies? We've had some very interesting interviews, one of the recent ones with gene Bruno from neutral science was are your supplements fake or real, and how can you tell? So if that's a concern of yours, you might want to listen to that interview with gene Bruno.
