"Leapy sports. I'm sure freedom coaches on the move in college basketball, Rick Pitino has headed back to the Big Apple, patina will leave his coaching job at iona to take over at St. John's getting his 6 year deal. Former Notre-Dame coach Mike bray, who recently resigned, takes over at South Florida. In the NBA, Philadelphia celebrated its 40th anniversary of the 1983 NBA title, but it was all Chicago Bulls in the second overtime. The bulls went at one O 9 one O 5 or the sixers. Bull centered Nikola vucevic says the team showed a lot of fight for a big win. This year, no matter what was going on, we always kept coming back and fighting back. We had light up and downs, let it tough bosses, a lot of things were we could have just kind of quit and gave up. But we keep battling, obviously, there's still a lot to play. Memphis rallied late to beat Dallas one 12 to one O 8. It was the New York Knicks getting 57 points from Julius Randle, not enough, though, has Minnesota topped the Knicks one 40 to one 34. We gave him confidence in a team like that that can really score the ball. He gave them confidence early. They're going to stick around. Utah beats Sacramento, Memphis over Dallas as the gris rallied late. Charlotte over Indiana and Golden State snapped an 11 game road losing streak in downing Houston. NHL, Florida defeated Detroit 5 to two Alexander barkov set the Florida franchise record for most career points. Dylan Ferguson had himself a game in the nets for the sins as Ottawa defeated Pittsburgh two to one Ferguson had 48 saves. It's still sinking in to be honest. My big focus tonight was just go out there and be me. Don't try to be anyone I'm not. And just stay in the moment. Colorado shout out to Chicago 5 nothing. It was Los Angeles blowing out Calgary and it was Edmonton defeating San Jose in overtime. Women's NCAA tournament another number one drops as Indiana got beat by 19 Miami. "It was a crazy offensive game that saw Minnesota beat the Knicks one 40 to one 34 in defeat Nick Julius Randle scored 57 points, but put the loss on the lack of defense. No, I mean, they didn't feel our presence from the beginning. So we gave them confidence in a team like that that can really score the ball. You give them confidence early. The FDIC said over the weekend, signature banks 40 former branches would become flagged or bank a subsidiary of New York community bank. The FDIC is also attempting to auction off what's left of Silicon Valley bank, the second largest U.S. failure. The deposit insurance fund is paid for by assessments on banks not taxpayers. Israel, Palestinians meet in Egypt to ease tensions

"Israeli and Palestinian officials are meeting in the Egyptian resort town of shamal Sheik. The talks may offer an opportunity to ease tensions between the sides and reign in a spiral of violence ahead of a sensitive holiday period beginning this week. The meeting is the second attempt by the sides shepherded by regional allies Egypt and Jordan as well as the U.S. to end a yearlong spasm of violence. It's seen more than 200 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire and more than 40 Israelis or foreigners killed in Palestinian attacks. The upcoming period is sensitive because large numbers of Jewish and Muslim faithful pour into Jerusalem's old city, the emotional heart of the conflict, and a flash point for violence, increasing friction points. "What does that mean for me? What does that mean when our children tell us who they are? I mean, to give a slightly wacky example, my son, when he was about 5, said he was Superman, and wanted to jump out a window. I give you my word. And should I have listened to who he was? I know you're not Superman. Your 5 year old tells you that he is a girl and you listen and say yes, of course you're a girl, what the hell do I know? I'm 40. I'm 35. I'm 50. What do I know? Biden's Problem on the World Stage

"It off in the show intro today about the Biden administration's problem on a world stage. Right now you have Iran, China, Russia, and North Korea all flexing their muscles on the oral stage because frankly, they don't think they believe that the Biden administration will do anything about it. And now you have a Russian plane basically hitting one of our Reaper drones over the Black Sea near the Ukraine and, you know, just hitting it and nothing at this point is happening. I've watched a few interviews lately and today. And the last, as we've been going on yesterday and today about the fact that these countries are not going to keep quit doing this until they're met with resistance. And this is a scary mile for sure. Yeah. I mean, I don't really know. I mean, again, okay, first of all, it's Russia. So they're obviously, it's so funny that with everything like they're always just going to be our enemy. They're like, it's such a weird, I don't want to put it in because a lot of lives have been lost for this, but just the idea that they're kind of like, if you watch a cartoon, like the arch enemy that keeps coming back. That's like Russia, like the Cold War was supposedly ended almost 40 years ago. Yeah. And we're still dealing with this nonsense because we're helping a nation. And we're not and we're just a floating drone. It's not like we're spying on Russia. I mean, we're probably always spying on Russia, but they're also always flying on us. What's the difference?

Collin Plume and Charlie Discuss the Idea of a Fiat Currency System

"Explore this idea of the Fiat currency system. And again, if anyone wants to read, there's a fascinating book called the creature from Jekyll island. If you really want to get into kind of the, I don't want to say none dare call it a conspiracy, but it's well written. About meetings that happened right near sea island, Georgia in a place called Jekyll island, where basically the Federal Reserve system, as we know it, was created. It was launched. And so, but the American when America was founded, we were on a metallic based system. Correct. And in the 1700s, 1800s, and then something changed, right? Industrial revolution, what why did we decide to go away from basing our currency on gold? We wanted to spend more than we had in reserves. I mean, it's really just the fundamental it. And during The Great Depression, we wanted to expand the money supply. And so they recall the gold standard and we've been on a runway of hyperinflation ever since. Yeah, let's talk about that just FDR confiscated gold. Correct. To be able to expand M1 at the time. Yeah, and it was a bad deal for anybody that turned in their gold because basically he said we're confiscating the gold, the gold price was in the low 20s. And then as soon as it was completed within a year or two after that, the price jumped, they set the price in the 30s. So everybody that sold, they sold their early got like a 30 or 40% clip on what eventually they said the price of gold being, which was in the low 30s in the early 1930s. And the

Apparently, U.S. Regulated Banks Are Riskier Than Stablecoins

"All right Friends, well, today we are going to discuss the delicious irony of why, despite all the teeth gnashing of politicians, it wasn't stablecoins that disrupted the regulated financial system, but the regulated financial system that disrupted a stablecoin. First though, I want to do a few follow-ups from things we've discussed over the last few days. Yesterday we talked about Credit Suisse. You'll remember that markets were freaking out about it and pricing in a huge chance of default. After their biggest investor said absolutely not to further investment. As we discussed, despite the fact that its problems were quite different than Silicon Valley banks, having another bank in peril so close to last week's dramatic events inherently connected the two. Well, today, Credit Suisse has posted a record surge of as much as 40% and has seen major drops in their default swaps. The big update is that they were able to open up a CHF 50 billion credit line with the Swiss national bank, which is about $54 billion U.S.. They also announced plans to purchase some senior debt to the tune of about CHF 3 billion. So seems like the European banking crisis is over, right? Well, enough so that the ECB hiked rates by 50 basis points today, and I guess we'll have to see how that plays out over the next few days. Meanwhile, back in the U.S., all eyes have been on first republic. Indeed, before the New York department of financial services decided to off signature bank over the weekend, most believe that first republic was the most likely next U.S. domino. Well, on Sunday, first republic reported that it had more than 70 billion in unused liquidity from agreements with the fed and JPMorgan Chase, but its stock still cratered this week. Given that, word is that they're exploring a sale. Unlike SVB, silver gator signature, no one industry makes up more than 9% of first republics depositor base, and their emphasis on private banking and wealth management seemingly make them a juicy target. JPM is one that many have mentioned in conjunction with the sale, but it seems like others, including Bank of America subsidiary Merrill Lynch, and Morgan Stanley might also be interested.

"That last call, if I could be quick. I'm an African American yada yada I'm an American. The last caller, come on now. Where are we picking kites? We're not still stuck in slavery. We had a black president. You get black medium as you got black billionaires. Come on. The opportunity is what you make of it. Mike, the situation is, it's just like me asking you to pay my fight like Bill every month. Why wouldn't you not do that? Because you didn't create the light Bill. Right. I did. Well, but let me say this, Andre. Let me stipulate racism still exists. No one and nobody's saying that it doesn't. But she, I think this last caller who says, well, we didn't get our 40 acres and a mule, and if you don't understand how we're still suffering, maybe he means since racism still exists, that's the impact of slavery, and that's why we got to make multi millionaires out of him. Maybe that's his argument, Andre. Not anything to impact the slavery. That's just the impact of somebody's heart. That's right. Just because racism doesn't have an effect on me. That's right. If a white man don't like me because of my black color, my black skin. Oh well, so big. But that doesn't stop me from being successful. That's right. We have too much opportunity to become who we are. And this is my last point, Mike. Stop waiting on the government to do something for you. Andre. This country doesn't get me an opportunity to make it or break it myself. White folks stand up. No, you know, OS anything. You didn't have nothing to do with it. That's how you end the discussion. What Does President Biden Stand For?

"It is difficult for me to express how bad a human being or president is. Because I've never done that, and I have been broadcasting 40 years, democratic presidents, democratic politicians, with whom I differed entirely thought they were making the country worse. Like Barack Obama, nevertheless, it never even occurred to me. To say what I say about the bad person who occupies The White House. It's hard to know what the man stands for since he's so corrupt. And we'll say anything or do anything for political ends. But it is hard to know what he stands for. Because almost everything he does makes this country a worse country. In other words, if we had someone who said, I hate America and I will do whatever I can as president to destroy it, he would do the same thing Joe Biden is doing.

The Banking System Broke; Will That Force a Fed Pivot?

"All right guys, it continues to be interesting times and today was supposed to be the big financial event of the week with the CPI report. So let's pick up the story from where we left off yesterday and see if the CPI report actually had as much significance as it might once have seemed. So here's where we were. The falling dominoes were silvergate closing down on Wednesday, Silicon Valley bank being put into receivership on Friday, and over the weekend, the squawking chaos is the tech industry viewed itself facing moral peril. All of this led to the fed's coming in on Sunday Night as the white knight, saying, hey, we're invoking systemic risk. Everyone's deposits are safe, management is not protected and taxpayers don't have to foot the bill. Oh, and by the way, we shut down signature bank as well. Yeah, the crypto won. No, don't ask us to explain why. And into all of that on Monday morning, market started in turmoil. First republic began the day 70 plus percent down in small and regional banks everywhere had their trading halted for volatility. However, then, at least in the non banking sectors, markets started to recover and even move into the green. Many commentators were incredulous. Dimitri kofinis from the inimitable hidden forces wrote, we got a global pandemic that killed millions of people, the start of a potential World War that could kill millions more, the steepest interest rate cycle in 40 years and now the second largest bank failure in U.S. history and markets are still like nah, we going up. And it wasn't just stocks. Crypto absolutely roared yesterday led by Bitcoin, which was up nearly 20% on the day. And by the way, has continued to increase today as well, hitting 26,000 at the time of this recording. So what the heck you may ask is going on. Well, let's talk first about the crypto side. Yesterday I did a YouTube video exploring three possible explanations for why Bitcoin was going up. The first one is the one I'd most like to be true. And that is that this moment is piercing the veil of people's perceptions of the solidity of the banking system and showing them that they are a part of something that is more complex and risky than they might have been led to believe. Even if one isn't clamoring for the destruction of the fed and the end of Fiat money, it certainly strikes us that it might be better if a more informed electorate better understood the part they play and more specifically the role their money plays in the system we have

Washington's Disconnect From Middle America

"Last question on this Dave McCormick, one of my comments yesterday flying cross country was billions for the blue bubble boys in Silicon Valley and you don't get the time of day if you're an eastern Ohio or western Pennsylvania on the derailment. Some people thought that wasn't fair, but I believe it's all of a sudden these connected VCs are on the phones of their buddies in D.C.. They get action in 48 hours. We still haven't got the president in east Palestine, and you know that area very well. I mean, you grew up there. You probably are closer to each Palestine than I am. It was 40 miles down the road from Warren, but it's probably less from where you grew up. Yeah. Well, you know, from where I was born, certainly. Yeah, I grew up in a different part of the state, but I grew up around Scranton, but I was born right near there and I've been talking to my Friends at beaver county. Who are most affected by it. And I agree with you a 100% in the following sense. The thing that I discovered on the campaign trail, the thing that I felt more visceral I should say on the campaign, the thing that I think president Trump tapped into in 2016 is that there's this disconnect where the people that are making policy in Washington and the excel a bubble between Washington, New York are completely disconnected and really not particularly focused on or care about the people that are living in mainstream America. And that certainly the case with and these Palestine thing is essentially a good example, not because the president is showing up would have changed the outcome necessarily or even change the policy. It would have been reflective of actually caring and being connected to the people that are most affected by it. And it's the same with fentanyl, it's the same with fracking. It's the same with inflation. It's the same with the open border. These are issues which are being felt by a huge part of America, and that was really the inspiration for the book.

"40" Discussed on Talk Is Jericho

"The change of this demographic wants this. It's tough it's right when when we were doing the among the living show a couple of years ago where we were playing the whole record. We quickly realized first of all kind of thing. Charlie who said we can't play it in sequence order. it's not working. Because that record the sequence of that record it goes what among caught I am the law like nfl skeleton. It's like six in a row of big big anthrax songs and then it goes to like one world which we hardly hardly alone. Yeah we hardly ever did that. Song live and then horror of it all and then imitation a life so after indians it would literally go from here and then crickets rate for the last three songs like it's like people never heard those three songs like literally like we were playing new songs and so we changed. We changed the order so we weren't like sliding down a slope for the last fifteen minutes of the set. And that just really shows you to like people would go nuts for those first six songs and then they get the something that they weren't as familiar with and literally the fucking energy. You very strange. When metallica the black album and this entire they started from the last song and went all the way back to enter sandman right. Same reason the livestream where we are playing different song. When i was being sarcastic yeah. We'll play a song off a fistful to you. Know so looking forward to it last question for you guys. What's your i. Guess not to sound to oprah but what kind of like your last thought about the last forty years of anthrax. You're overall feeling of this huge part of your life. And what's your favorite anthrax record. That's not among the living. You want to start charlie. Well i mean the obvious thing. The first thing that comes to my mind is kind of like family. Like everybody's kind of like family i see. I see these guys. More than i saw my family. You know. during the years during our adult life we spent pretty much allotted time together. So if i don't see them in a long time and then when i see them it's kind of like oh is what i've been doing it. And we all start kind of talking enemies start laughing and then and then and then that finishes with backed i see it. We gotta go no. But no. But it's like i think that a lot and i i actually think about spreading disease more because that was the record where i think. We came that dan in. Oh geico says you're next. Joey your thoughts. I guess it's just the overall just being a musician and bnl does stick with it and be always on the on the upper end up you know. Just do you need to do and be be a good good band guy. You know whatever it is you gotta do and just take it in knowledge. Success that we've had. And i'm really happy about that. Makes you feel good about what you've cheesed again us. Same thing with charlie spreading. Because we're all happened for me where everything discount plugged in there. We went you know. And it was not frankie. It's crazy or forty years in. You say he's album is our molex scrapbooks of your life if you look at them the way they are and you remember the times touring great time recording all that stuff all the whole ride. I called i. I enjoy the ride and the right funding up. You go to records. I like doing now for all kings. So i leave it there for me. It makes a lot of sense where we're on right now and see what we're up to next to always going i like the mystique that anthrax ask. You don't know where we're going. I love that about the energy energy that we have. You don't know what we're gonna come up with you know. It's going to be quality but i'm excited. I don't use the band member but a fan gets really important. Scott i was fixing the light and here because it was make a still is giving me like these crazy. Looks like these angry eyebrows. You just some new pickup bela lugosi. What was that. What was the first part of the question. Just what's your kind of your overall thoughts about anthrax. Forty years later mr mckenzie. I'm just looking at his eyebrows. Down crazy i do my god. I love the fact that we've been able to do whatever we've wanted to do. Always it's it's just always been our band. It's just we've done it our way in a lot of ways. It's it just really plays to my kind of blue collar work ethic of getting up in the morning and go to work. It's not something that i've ever had a problem. And i love the fact that this has been what i've gotten to do for all these years all these decades like this is what i get to do and you know the the joy i think. That's even. I saw like something that i'm constantly thinking about or you know ruminating on. I know how happy this has made me in my life because you know i'm generally a very happy person. I think that has to do the fact that this is what i've gotten to do all these years and it's all i ever wanted to do and i say that keeps you young. So fingers crossed favorite album. "Twinkie. Another private show one of the best moments from anthrax. You guys mentioned your smile. You have great personalities. I just saw it a couple of weeks. Ago is your is your appearance on married with children. Which is legit funny. It's not one of these stunt castings where the guys are kind of like you know like rain. Gretzky on live recant. Act and it's very stone delivery. It's really funny. Once again one of the classic moments and anthrax career. Yeah gets talked about all the time. I can't breathe almost talk about it. Yeah i think about that. Week i mean. That's one of those things that i think about it a lot. You know like it'll just 'cause you know married with children pops up o'neill or i katie. Gal i just heard her on on something. And you know you see christina applegate at you see these people so that boom the memory comes back and it was and it's a great memory was unbelievable. Week just unbelievable. The story about is originally we were pitched for the simpsons and the simpsons had already had their seasons all done the season all done so it got passed around in produces america. Children wrote this episode around us. And that's how it happened. And i'll never forget the first day we're at the table read and we're all sitting there in like what the fuck you know like. All these people are sitting around us from the show. It was crazy and we took a break and went outside and as tony danza. Just right there you remember that. Yeah who's the boss. Right next door. It was so surreal man that was shot and it was great. Just hear other table read just watching like do as lines with katie and going over stuff and the last right there with didn't work out so much fun that just like kids in a candy store. Guess awesome great here. We were all fans of that. Show you know so. And we had met them before we got to play in one of those kabc softball game or a tjmartell.org grind marcel. So we admit them in but you know a hang out with them but yeah suddenly. You're in their bubble like in their world. And i got it. I was super nervous. You're sitting there at the table. And i'm like see like oh my god my lines coming up you know i just want you wanna do a good job. You don't wanna hold people up but everyone was so nice it's use the lines on to allot yet set in your way right. Y'all would pull you aside. Like i remember one time. He pulled me aside and he said you know what say it like this with the inflection here and then he would do it and try like that. It might feel more natural than the i try and be like thank you so much. You know like it's just he was. He was so cool though the last last day. When it's friday when they take they take two shows and they tipped an early evening one and then there's one about an hour after that so we did the first one we thought we did so great and then they changed our lines for the next show and it was like. Oh no we only had a couple of hours to learn new lines and stuff like that kinda changed everything that was going on still really. It worked rona better. The sack of early. You were right by the totally. There is one part of that. There was a part in the script. Where i i was so happy that it was me. where christina where kelly takes basically decided she's gonna sleep with one of us and it turned out. It was that just so happened. It was me and there was a partner script where we even rehearsed it on the set where she takes me by the hand and we'd walk up the stairs to go to the bedrooms. Of course there's no veggies up go through that doorway. There's nothing back there. But when i when i found out that was happening i mean. My head was exploding because all my friends see this guy. Married with children was such a big show. And it's like an. I'm going upstairs to have sex with kelly bundy right in fake tv world. That's amazing right so cuts you on the thursday We're at the read. And that whole thing is not in there. And i went over to one of the producers and i said what happened to the scene where i go upstairs with with christina. And he said yes. She came into office last night and she was like. Yeah about that scene where i go upstairs with scott. She's like you know. I know my characters a slut. But she's not that much of.

That are highly concentrated around major physiological functions right the central nervous system the gut there's areas in the body where there's this high concentration of these receptors will what are these receptors. Do they effectively help the body get back to balance. Right they help. Those major physiological systems become more balanced and in modern life. What science has also shown is that these receptors can go fallow. They can just not work as effectively as they once stood through a combination of sedentary lifestyle. Poor diet toxic overload. And so the reason. I think there's been such a huge surge in interest both with respect to cannabis but into particular around hemp derive. Cd is because we need it right. Most people are deficient scientists. Now showing this right. there's this endo cab annoyed deficiency syndrome. that's now been identified because these receptors go fallow and as a result. Hopefully that gives you a general idea of the cabinet system and how heme derived cb locks in or nourishes these receptors in the system that ended can system is like the like once. It's fired off. I started to suffer from prolonged burnout. Adrenal fatigue you know this was just a twenty four seven sort of operation and high stakes so ultimately i hit bottom in late. Twenty twelve in the midst of a founding and now leading a multimillion dollar business with dozens of employees on but i'd ignored my health aspects of my lifestyle. My family i just was working constantly. And i knew then that i had to turn things around because this business was in jeopardy. 'cause i was in jeopardy and that led me on ios a health transformation and In the midst of that transformation. I was searching high and low for anything that get helped me a because it was forty two years old and i was sort of at the peak of my career but i was mess. I came too early morning. Hours of november third twenty the l. Sort of just abusing alcohol. i'd been on antidepressants and so in that discovery. You know i saw homeopathy naturopathy. That had these medicinal and therapeutic properties that in particular had a positive reports around stress and anxiety. Some of the things that i was really struggling with sleep. Start your metabolism. Some of those things that are going to help that. So that's why it's like when you look at a list of foods that are i'll say Food list that's why you're choosing those. You're choosing the ones that you liked the ones a year gonna eat the ones that you can. You know it's not like oh. I don't need these types of foods and you have to search for all the other things or i'm following this exact diet. Try not to follow the exact trying to make. Just try to have look your plate and you see you know when you go into the facebook group if you you're not part of the facebook we're gonna facebook group because when people post foods generally everyone now unless you're new you put here's my starchy car. Here's my healthy fat. Here's my protein source in here my fruits and vegetables when you do that and when you can do that you know i'm in now and that's perfect and i'm telling you that will be the biggest. Your nutrition is the biggest difference if you say all funk. I've been doing all these workouts. I'll be doing my ab workouts and i still have this belly fat and then in the same same sentence you say or the second sentence when i ask you all housing nutrition online traditions okay. There's your answer man that's your your answer is get your nutritional one hundred percent then worry about everything else. That's really the key because when you're nutrition's one hundred percent everything's just starts to fall off or you start to build muscle because i remember so i remember i did just say we don't count calories. We don't way our foods. Just wanna make sure we have a source but once you have a source of all of those things bounce plate then and you get used to doing that then we can start to manipulate the size of the food. We can go okay. That's why like when you guys post 'cause like i say hey man. You need more food on his plate right you need. You need more food on his plate like you only have two pieces sperry. "Right. It's got to be sustainable. Which means if we are traveling or if we are at a someone's house or if we go somewhere we still should be able to eat not we. One hundred percent can eat healthy. Whenever i go to my parents whenever we have family get togethers. Big thirty forty got a big massive family. So you know it's like a massive. It's it's it's it's it's it's tables of food right west indian food all kinds of food and so i know though i can pick and choose from all of that stuff there and and how super healthy food guide. There's the rice you know. Maybe there's some cook up rice put in there. There's obviously there's all kinds of meat you know there's always vegetables and and you know there's always i can always grab it avocado or put on all or whatever but i i can eat healthy not no if ands or buts about i can eat a meta test boost to saucer boosting madame metabolism boosting meal. But it's it's it's the nutrition and the attrition is a meal attrition that's going to help boost artas rhone booster metabolism while we keep quarters on estrogen. Obey we balance or insulin. And we decrease inflammation and. It's going to be easy. So what is that while it's a. It's making sure that your plate is balanced right. Uh-huh you have a balanced plate a balanced plate of healthy carbs writing the reason why we need healthy complex starchy carbs. That's number one. Healthy complex starchy guards every plate that you eat three times a day breakfast lunch dinner so or meal one meal to meal. Three whatever you call it you should meeting three times a day specifically if you're just starting every place should have four of these things. On their plates four quadrants the first quadrant will be a starchy complex car which means rice White rice black rice rice. Mas mighty rice sweet potato potato keen wa steel cut oats right those those You know are are your starchy carbs. And why because starchy car- carbohydrates will help support your thyroid along with muscle growing and stop because some of the micronutrients and the foods that you will eat will help increase your t levels because they have they support your t levels. But it's your thyroid that we really want to focus on and when you have carbs your you'll be supporting that thyroid remember. The thyroid is months before metabolism. So we need to start again. I'm talking about us. Guys in our late thirties forties fifties sixties and seventies. Because when we were younger we could eat anything and still you know some of us still have the six pack But that doesn't happen right now. We gotta make sure that. We're we're eating. Foods that are gonna balance of on balance or hormones so number one starchy carp. So make sure you have whatever started. Kirby like to eat whether it's on your plate or in your smoothie or whatever it is number. Two protein obviously protein animal protein though animal protein. That is so important. It's the highest not the highest quality. But it's a very high quality protein and at first you don't have to worry about getting grass fed protein or organic. Just get protein. Whatever it is. make sure. There is a source of protein on your plate. You don't have to count cowers you. Don't have to weigh your food. You just have to make sure that there's a source of protein on your plate. The third thing is healthy fat. Why you eat healthy fat while.

"Gratitude things. That will help you not only physically recover but mentally recover members. Stress is going to be hitting us from all levels remember. I've also talked about how there's always this stress in the back of our minds. we just went through. Almost some people were still going through. But you know a year and a half of this pandemic a year and a half of this frigging pandemic and some of us are dealing with a with a great. Some of us are not new. One of the great some of us are what whatever. Some of our family members are like on. The other side doesn't matter it still back your even if we don't think it's here it's still there like they're still things that we have to adjust to so let's stressful right. It's something that we have. We have no control over. What's going on here. It's very stressful. And when you try to take control and put yourself out there you're gonna get stressed and you're gonna get pushback from other people. Were trying to you know. Follow the rules or whatever so six one half dozen in the other. That's always there so we need. We need to understand okay with this. Stress always are always air just because of the life that we're living in the world we live in plus and things that we can't do that we wanna do plus everyday life you know work workout sometimes relationships whatever it is or lack thereof. Because of where you're at loneliness. Whatever there is that's stressful so things that we can do to help recover from mental stress meditation. Mindfulness gratitude focused on positive. Things that are happening in your life. Only those positive things that are happening learn from your mistakes set it aside. Don't live in the past things that happened in the past that you'd have no control over either. Don't live in it or deal with it and then leave it right so that it's check okay dealt with that i dealt with this okay. I've things that happened when i was younger. I'm gonna go. i'm gonna go talk to someone. I'm going to go and make an appointment talk to someone and and let it out and get it out and then let it go. Because that's that's something that i can't deal with anymore because it's stopping me from being the person i need to be moving forward right so whatever that is back part of recovery plus of course part of that's part of mental recovered right. We all we have to be on. Top of that guy's men don't generally do this. Which is why i love. We have the brotherhood because we don't talk religion. We don't talk politics. "Rich or famous you were going to go back to my home in california and lock myself in my house and wait to die because that's what we thought thought of hiv. It was a death sentence but olympic gold medal diver. Greg louganis dr. Susan told them to keep training and compete in the one thousand nine hundred eighty eight games. I think ultimately saved my life. The stigma of being hiv positive was crushing members of the gay community. The disease look different. The world after basketball star magic johnson revealed his diagnosis in nineteen ninety-one researchers struggled for fifteen years to find effective life-prolonging treatments. I think people tend to forget the sorrow difficulty suffering. That came before that. It's remarkable to think that aids was first detected forty years ago that got us thinking that during the covid nineteen pandemic shots now going in arms a year and a half after that virus was detected has any progress been made on hiv aids. We spoke with gary lacosse executive director of the canadian aids society. Gary early june marks forty years since the us cdc first published a report about what ended up being hiv aids Back in nineteen eighty one when you think about just the past four decades of the What a lot of people have called it rightly called. Hiv aids pandemic. what are some of the highlights that come to you or perhaps lowlights if that's a better term to use while the highlights that come to To the front of my mind is that it's the first patient croup that demanded that they be put centre stage with researchers and doctors and to to Require that nothing about them. You've done without them so it was. It was the first patient group. I really demanded that that was at the international aids conference in montreal. The eighty s with silence equals death campaign. And so on so forth for mac up. Not so it's come a long way because then came. Denver principles that Really established the guiding principles for great involvement the people living with aids at the time and now thriving with hiv. Though there's some discussion about exactly with those handicaps overtime. Gary in the early eighties aids was known as grid or gay related immune deficiency but. That's obviously changed. How has hiv aids evolved over time in terms of who defects. Well you see. The virus started off. It was a it was a gay brackets so gay men were dying off. Nobody knew why and the stats have progressed. Two time to be worldwide now fifty fifty split between women and men who have hiv. Okay so we've had there was there's been at least seventy five million cases of hatred view so far approximately let some of them the documentation stats. It's an issue but half of them have died so we have over thirty some thousand million deaths of hiv of aids. I mean an hiv related illnesses. So what what really is in is is Is frightening is that the level of understanding what. Hey try via's today in. Canada is not understood by at all because our youth comprised twenty five percent of the new infections. Okay so that's one of the biggest groups that are being affected by hiv today. So when we look at the curriculum in schools for sexual health knowledge. There's not that's why we're coming out with sexual be a sexual health behavior for youth. Because it's a gap in the space and so on and so forth so it's like youth. You could listen to the show interview. That happened a couple of days ago. The youth that was on the panel was saying i know it hey tried the existed and this was a well educated man and until he contracted hiv outside. It doesn't make sense we do that. This is not taught and this is not widely discussed as because it really reduces the barriers to stigma if we discuss it openly and calmly and with respect and dignity with hiv is and we. Also i think have to lean on our elders and also lean on the shoulders of giants that i've passed to understand exactly what it is time tried to because the people who were to die of. Hey tried to be nine. Nineteen ninety six which was a milestone are thriving that with hiv because of the antiretroviral treatments. That came out in nineteen ninety-six and since then the other biggest statement the milestone. That came out was you. We calls you. Hiv became a treatable disease in one thousand nine hundred ninety six fifteen years into the global pandemic by this time. Nine hundred million people have been affected by hiv. The effective treatment hiv was known as combination drug therapy consisting of free medications. It stopped the virus from replicating in the blood halting the transition from hiv to aids and began to control what coma globally devastating disease. Scientists found that with continued treatment. The amounts of hiv in the blood became so low. That routine tasks could not find it. In other words it was. Undetectable in two thousand and eighteen. It was scientifically confirmed that someone with undetectable levels of hiv could not transmit the virus to a person who doesn't have hiv during sounds. It was unkowns miserable. Undetectable equals.
