The Euro 1.0624 against the Dolly the pound 1.2085, the yen is at one 32.83, Bitcoin's moving a touch higher up a half percent now, just shy of 16,900. That's a Bloomberg business flash. Paula Matt, Nathan Hager. Also, in Washington, D.C., wait, that is just the power center today here of Bloomberg news is Washington, D.C., good stuff we appreciate that. Nathan. All right. By the way, yeah. Nathan Hager and Amy Morris also answered a question that I had lobbed out there. Oh, you did. Has a sitting president ever been primaried and the answer? The answer is yes, at least Ted Kennedy tried to knock Carter off the I guess in 1980, exactly. He finally gave up Kennedy did like the second day of the convention, but it was brutal for the Democratic Party. So yeah, that was a harbinger of things to come for, mister carden. And of course, they lost exactly, badly. All right, 2022, let's put it in the rearview mirror. There's no place to hide whether you're in a stock market or the bond market. One of the questions I have is, how did the really super high end net worth kind of folks? How do they do this year? What are they doing? Where do they put their money? And to that, and there's actually a very interesting we'll get to our guests in a second. But there's a very interesting story on the Bloomberg terminal that got my attention. Superyachts flocked to the Caribbean for lavish yearend party. So I guess they're doing okay and we had this great function on the Bloomberg terminal map go and you can kind of sort for yachts and super yachts and there's a lot of yellow dots in the Caribbean in the Mediterranean. So that's where they're going for the holidays. So good for them. But we talked super high net worth. We also like to talk with Michael sonnenfeld. He's the chairman and founder of Tiger 21. Tiger 21 is a network of learning groups for high net worth investors. Michael, thanks so much for joining us. When you talk to your members, how did they fare in 2022 and what do they thinking about for 2023? And again, this is a super high net worth and the marketplace. So first, great to be here, happy new year, guys. The members are not a monolith. You know, if you talk to our members in Texas who have a lot of oil and gas exposure and northern Canada, they've had an amazingly good year best in many, if you talk to our members in San Francisco who are more in the high-tech world, they've had a really tough year. But overall, the biggest story for our members for the year is private equity in our most recent survey grew to 29%. That's the largest percentage ever recorded. It was as low as 10% over a decade ago. So this is a tectonic shift in the way high net worth Americans and particularly entrepreneurs who are members of Tiger are expressing their hope for the future. All right, so keeping in mind that they're not a monolith, can we draw any conclusions about average sort of investment? I mean, are they in these markets? Are they out? Do they like fixed income? Are they are they going for equities? Is there an outlook for 2023 that you can kind of pull from the whole picture? Yeah, the big stories are that, as I said, private equity for the first time has trumped both real estate and public equity at about 29%. Fixed income is a little bit coming to life. People are liking short term rates for the first time for so many years. You were getting under 1%. Now you can see four and 5 and 6% both in municipals and high grade set really interesting. Hedge funds are still in the dog house, only about 3% allocation, kind of mind boggling given to where they were a decade ago. And cash cash at 12%, 11%. Wow. High levels of cash. But not for us, our members have held this high level for a very long time. The public equity reduction to 25% says two things. First of all, if you take our real estate and private equity and add them up together, what you have is a little over 50% while public equities are only 25%. What our members are saying is if you know how to invest in public private equity and you're not investing real estate, which is where our members created their wealth over time you can probably do better than public equities, but in the public equity markets a lot more index funds, a lot more ETFs because history has shown it's really tough to beat the public markets if you're trying to pick stocks. I guess what's happened to Tesla in recent days would be a good example of that. Hey, Michael, when I think of your members at Tiger 21, I think maybe some business owners who have sold their businesses. They now have a lot of liquidity or maybe they've had liquidity events in other asset classes. I don't necessarily think about them as exposed too much to crypto, but boy, that's been such a big issue this year and lots of news coming out of the crypto space. A lot of volatility that if your members are they thinking about, all right, now maybe is the time to look at this thing or does it just validate maybe their belief that crypto is just too volatile. Surely they were all in at some point. Yeah. So most of our members are very different, but when you have 1200 members managing a $140 billion of their own net worth, that's an average over a 100 million per member. What you have by variety. We have a couple of members who run crypto fund and in total crypto is about a one to 3%

their job Every guy who's out there is trying to catch the ball right Everybody who's out there is trying to score They're trying to win the China scores make points as possible there They're not worried about what the line is on the game or what the bet is as far as who's going to score the first touchdown or whatever else I think they're just playing the game they normally play Stay tuned for that conversation with Drew Brees plus later in the hour We catch up with Vince sports group CEO Steve griggs That's the parent company of defending Stanley Cup champs The Tampa Bay lightning fact they're going for three in a row That's straight ahead on the Bloomberg business of sports show but first let's look at some of the top stories of the week beginning with The World Series the fall classic and the ratings okay for our time today the ratings aren't bad It's not old school ratings but the ratings aren't bad Well right now the game one is in the head a threading of 6.1 and 10.8 average 10.8 million people watching the game It's up 20% from last year But last year that's of course all the games were played in Arlington Texas the Dodgers played the Tampa Bay race But what you really have to measure it against is two years ago when the Washington Nationals and the Astros went 7 games in a very exciting World Series and its down 16% Other than the COVID season last year it is the lowest rated World Series opener since they began keeping records And that's discouraging of got to be discouraging for broad Manfred and baseball people Yeah but baseball is in football Is that what it comes down to Yeah but it's their ultimate sport This is it This is their NBA Finals Stanley Cup finals This is their sort of Super Bowl week I wonder how much it has to do with the fact that the Houston Astros are playing in the World Series as well How much residual anger is there among baseball fans overall that this is the Astros who were caught in that cheating scandal not so long ago I'm sure a lot of people are thinking like it's TV execs Man we wanted the Dodgers and we wanted Boston dang This now we got this And it might be a point you guys are breaking Yeah I think that thing was so long ago what happened in 2017 that it's really a pandemic four times Yeah So many things have happened since then I think it's the late hour I mean you know life and for young kids boys and girls who are of high school or elementary middle school age it's a devastating news I mean none of them will get to watch the World Series They will know what happened Remember that guy who was trying to run for an office in New York the rent is too dang high Well the games are two dang long We gotta do something about this Scarlet what do we do Well you know one thing that there's a really good story I read about how rob Manfred the commissioner of the MLB is kind of caught in this awkward position because wherever the game is played whether it's Houston or Atlanta The local fans there are not fans of him overall or of MLB given that they felt he scapegoated the Astros for the cheating scandal when it was fairly common for people to steal signs Of course that was ancient history as lynchy just pointed out but more recently of course Manfred had pulled the All-Star Game in response to Georgia's new voting law And so there are a lot of people in the braves organization who are not happy with Manfred either And ironically the World Series is coming back to Atlanta which was celebrating the great Hank Aaron You can see the 44 mode into the lawn out there and a lot of people lost a lot of money when they pulled the game out of Georgia It probably politically was the right thing to do but economically it wasn't then the people that work at that ballpark and count on it to make their living and meet their rent and meet the car payment didn't have a chance to work that game all those three games because it's a big festival So he'll get booed by Atlanta wins in his hosting the trophy there Whoever series ends in Atlanta he'll get bored and if it ends in Houston get food there Get food overall I guess that's the deal that you make when you are a commissioner of a major sports league Speaking of people getting booed right now we talk about baseball The Cleveland roller Derby team they're booing MLBs Cleveland Indians Now the Cleveland Indians are going to change their name to the Cleveland guardians So what's the problem Why is this Cleveland roller Derby team suing Because their name the Cleveland guardian They're the original guardians Yeah Yeah Now you know I hate to I don't want to make an opinion but I gotta say it the attorney said look you can't go into Chicago And then name of lacrosse team and then name that team the Chicago Cubs It's not going to work And you know they've got a point I'm not sure what to do here I don't know how New York got away with it years ago when the New York Giants had a football team and the baseball team in the national league team would have played in the Polo Grounds was the New York Giants There were two New York Giants teams didn't get involved maybe Maybe that was it You know what.

There's the snap sprout back throws complete first down inside the 10, angling for the end zone getting in Jackson Smith and Big Book for the touchdown. 4000 conversion straight to the house that time for the Buckeyes. Once again, they're chasing down those ducks. It's 35 27 excellent conversion, and Oregon brings some Pressure on this one. It's 35 28. Oregon keeps running out. Ohio State keeps chasing him down. In fact, it was seven point game. But you said it a moment ago. And now the key is you gotta find stop. Got to get the ball back when you're only down one score. You have the 12th ranked team in the country in Oregon coming into the horseshoe, and they put up 35 points. If you got to give him a lot of credit, and I would say counting because nothing is really shown that they're going to be slowed down mid Ohio State in this defense has got to find a stop. They've got to be able to get Somebody in the running game down on the ground. It's likely been CJ Bergevin. Travis. I think Tampa Bay is going to have enough juice to provide 35 points 35 ish points in this game, Then it's just what does that press gotten that Dallas offense provide, But we know a couple of things one Mike McCarthy likes to play a nice tempo. He will push the pace. He will create more plays for his team. And even if that offensive language without Zack Martin is struggling a little bit against the D Line of Tampa Bay. Getting into passing situations was, I think Dallas might find themselves in either playing catch up, or, you know, in third and long situations. That means the balls in the air. That means the clock stops that helps overs again. I think Dallas can provide enough offense to lift this over because I think Tampa will do their part. But even if Tampa is kind of blowing Dallas out, I think that kind of helps the over because Dallas will be chucking the ball in the fourth quarter, stopping the clock trying to get a chunk plays. And may be loosening things up or getting a little more dangerous on defense as they try and create turnovers rather than stops to flip the game, So I like the over there as well. And as we said earlier, I'm playing aside based on everything has happened with Dallas so far, I got to play the Tampa Bay cider pass right. All another or you take your tease it down for the box to learn. Yes, we we discussed that earlier. Is there another game you like to tease it with? You tease both those down six make them 1.5 point, favors Tampa Bay against Dallas, San Francisco against Detroit. Yeah, That sounds pretty.

One of, if not the worst losses of the season the Lakers dropped two in a row to the Dallas Mavericks. The one thing, the one thing heading into this series that you absolutely could not do go, one-on-one, okay? You're probably still all right. In terms of positioning, you cannot drop both games to the maps and there was a complete lack no show by the Lakers in the second half. Inexcusable things should be being thrown in the locker room right now and I can't wait to dive into cuz we've got a lot to break down here, but exact time. What happened? What went on and what went wrong in this game for the Lakers to look, so terrifyingly bad in that second half? Well it was a rough one. Matt Peralta from Lakers Nation joining me that.
