But this Cape Cod Mansour has something in common with the biblical figure now Commercial lobster diver Michael Packard was going about his business off the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts, when he was swallowed whole by a humpback whale trapped in its gullet for nearly a minute before being coughed back up. I was completely inside. It was completely black. I thought to myself, there's no way I'm getting out of here. I'm done. I'm dead. All I could think of was my boys. They're 12 and 15 years old, but when he realized he could feel no teeth He began struggling and felt the whale shaking his head and discomfort within 40 seconds. The massive mammal spit him back out into the ocean. I saw light and he started throwing his head side to side and the next thing I knew I was outside back in the water. My first thought was. We've talked a lot about the Texas electric grid. And the fact that in mid February it got within about five minutes of a complete collapse. We knew that right? Yes. That would have been a terrible time for a great Yes. Yes, it would have But apparently we're learning that the problem could have even been worse than that. How could it have been worse than that? I'm in The Wall Street Journal is reporting that there is a little known network designed to jolt the grid back to life. That wasn't working properly. They rely on standby generators called black starts. And their job is simply to rescue the grid by supplying electricity power took power plants. Okay, so you gotta have okay. Howard of the power plant for the power plant the run Just start the grid. Right? So it's it's kind of like in the Wall Street Journal. Use this analogy. It's kind of like jump starting a car with a dead battery. Around saying You gotta jump starting back up again. When that storm hits us in February. Nine of the 13 primary generators design designed to get a down system back up again. Uh, we're out of commission. 99 of the 13 6 of the 15 secondary generators, which is the fail safe for the fail safe. Had trouble as well, including freeze damage of problems getting fuel. So people all the time talking about wanting Texas's secede from the union and be its own world, right? We can't even keep the power on. So we're gonna be like a third world country. You know, I I've been hearing the whole time I've lived in Texas. Oh, yeah. Texas is the best power grid in the country. You know, we're all independent. Well, Stop selling it. Yeah, yeah. I mean, apparently we there were there were some real mistake's here. But we don't mean we came within five minutes of losing power. For months. The very moment our adversaries were certain we'd pull apart and fail Adversary. We came together. We're united, who was Who was betting on us to pull apart and failed, You know, adversaries. The millions of Americans that didn't vote for moves you're talking about. Yeah, that's a country's No. He's talking about those who didn't vote for him. Yes, Nielsen took a while for there for them to get their act together. But now that we do have that Nielsen numbers not good for the Super Bowl well that the one of the headlines on drugs said the worst since 1969 96.4 million viewers on CBS. In there. You know you could bundle it on other stuff as well now is that it was that worldwide. This was this was a US numbers. That's a third of the United States. That's bad, but but way down Oh, okay. Yeah, That's 8% off of last year. Wow, that's big. That's a big drop in last year have the smallest one since 2006 and you're below. That's so mean. You know? Well, I don't know. Five million streaming Well, that should count somehow, as part of the ratings it does, But that's not my point. The point is, we've been told about all these people that are cutting the cord of that. That's the future and that's where it's headed. And that's what everybody does now. Yeah, they're not. And I pine for those billboards. Because Tommy be said it would be like this, and he joins us now. Good morning, sir. Good morning, And you're absolutely right. I am a hall of Famer and many, many, many fields many fields fields of education, Meteorology, Baseball Hall of Fame. Yeah, you know, I got into the baseball hall of fame by cheating my way in. And so I'm there I am all there. Yep. And you know what else? I think I'm gonna be in the inventor's Hall of fame, too. You're not out with the flamethrower this morning. All right? You want to know if there was, you know, I measured the snow and I looked at all the observations as a general beautifies hunches, but my lawn right now in my driveway looks like it's June. Yeah. WeII had some drivel last night. Tell me Tell me. How does one remove the snow from the lawn without without scorching the lawn? Well, you know, you have to be very careful with this. First of all, I climbed on my roof and I pointed down, so I was a good 30 35 ft from the lawn and the driveway, But it sits in beautiful shape right now. Yeah. Looks great. In my mind. I have visions now of the World War, two shoulders in the flamethrowers going around with him Just I worry about you sometimes, buddy. Well, everyone does. But there's no need to. There's no need to. I'm in good shape. And you know you are here myself. I have. I only have 12 ounces of bourbon a day and every now and then I mix it with V. So you know I'm in great shape. That's not bad. Well, no, Listen, there's nothing wrong with that. Let me ask you a Let me ask you a question about later this week. Are we going into colder temperatures this week? What would be more Seasonable because we really had a nice vacation up until this snow, you know, from typical winter weather. Uh, it's gonna be a cold day. Uh, Friday and Saturday into Sunday. Yeah. Temperatures on Friday may not even get out of the teams during the day. Any. Uh, now that that's the regular temperature? Yes. Do you mean the regular temperature? Well, you know, like regular temperature. No, but you're building temperature. Now, I've always mean when chill and then feels like and you know it started off with wind chill and that I could understand. They would say, Well, the temperature is going to be 15 degrees, but with the wind chill, it'll feel like eight degrees. Okay. Now they have the feels like temperature because They also do it in the summer. They the temperatures 85. Then they factor in humidity and say it feels like, uh, 100. And I don't get that. I don't get that because by the way I've been in 100 degree weather. Uh, visiting visiting, uh, Nevada. When it's 85 inhuman. It doesn't feel like 100. If you've been in 100 degree weather, you know what 100 feels like, you know, And you know me, Tommy. I don't like the extreme heat. S so I'm I'm kind of sensitive to it. Um I don't like that Feels like so what I was asking was it's gonna be in the teens on Friday. Is there gonna be any wind? Is it gonna is it gonna be a hell Oh, there will be on. You know what? That little speech that you just gave? Yes, I give that a D. Plus, you could have asked me. Is there going to be a wind chill? And then one sentence? I would have said yes, there will be Jimmy. No, no, no. You have to go into this tirade about the humidity in the summertime. You know, it's all crazy. It's crazy. By the way, I haven't read it. "I texted to pictures of my fig tree to you. Which I need a trim back as I came. Get around it with a lawn mower anymore. Did you happen to see those? Yeah, I'm looking at him right now, Larry. How dark can I cut that back, especially on the side next to the fence closest to the fans. Azi far as you need to now, that doesn't sound like that's actually guidance. You are figures big and looks healthy. Looks well established. It is not going to be bothered by you cutting it back. Not at all. So don't be shy with it. You can go to grow about yourself every year and wit. It doesn't it or more. Yes, it does. And terming it just makes it mad could just mess it grow more, But this is the maintenance that you get when you plant a fig. Um, you picked this location. It's not like it's too close to the fence. But don't be shy about taking control of the plant and keeping it the size. You need to be able to do the maintenance around it. You are not gonna phase that planted all by cutting it enough to be able to mow completely around the circle. Like I said, I have tol share mine. I removed 3 ft, or more from one side of it Simply because it rubs up against my house is that every single year? Hasn't bothered FIG tree so don't be shy. Good sharp tools. And you do not have to paint the wound. I should wait, probably like two or three more weeks before I do that. You know, it's it's sprouting right now. You know it's been sprouting for a month. Yeah, I don't I don't think it'll make a huge difference. Larry. I don't think the plant would be bothered if you did it today versus a month from now, even with weather conditions. Um, that big Excuse me things in general. And yours is well established. It's kind of great size to a good good number of trunks to it. I don't think it would be phased. If you went out there this afternoon and trended or you went out there a month from now and trimmed it, But the important thing is is to remember. Shoot, trim it and try to keep it in control. Every year. You're finding out If you trim it, it just put down more girls. Well, I guess that's good. Uh, the stakes were delicious. Last year. I bet we got about like, off at least two or three gallons of figs off of that tree. Maybe, but you know, I don't know it just kept coming and coming. Your bag is young yet believe it or not. Oh, I know, I I know. My fig and I posted pictures of this before. His 35 ft across From one side to the other. And it is easily 15 to 20 ft. Tall. I've given up in many cases trying to trim it because every time I trim it, it put down twice the growth. I just I just do what I can to keep it off my house. Yeah. You know it throws back about 45 years ago, so It is just the first year I had it in the ground, and I've been that is leaving the lead swelled up around the trunk ever since. And, uh you know, I've never taken away unusual, especially for a young fig and folks who are considering things. You have to understand this. Small fig. Um, it's not at all unusual for freeze to the ground. I haven't Italian black and it took four years before it finally got big enough that it didn't freeze all the way back, and now it's growing. Of course, like my Celeste. It's getting huge and you know, it's got all these branches on it. So young figure it is not at all unusual for its first couple of years to freeze all the way back and come back from the crown. So folks need that patients. I mean, you have proof with your fig here, Larry, that you go from It froze to the ground and look at it Now. It's a nice big plant, producing a lot of yield for you. Well, deaf it was your you on John's recommendation on that Take do it, Celeste, and you hit it. You hit it out of the park. And she your show is great. I learned a lot from you. Well, I appreciate that, Larry. And yeah, Really do recommend that big? I don't know anybody who spent disappointed with it. Folks looks like we may have lost Larry there. Yeah, Yeah. Sorry, Larry, that you dropped off. Yeah, A big is a fantastic plant for central Texas. It is relatively drought tolerant. Once established, it needs a little while to get going. It requires very little care. They have to be smart about where you planted. I cannot emphasize you're going to go to a nursery and pick up a Celeste pagan. It says it's going to be 15 FT by 15 teeth. Sorry. It's gonna be bigger than that. One of the few It's one of the few plants you go into a nursery where they undersize it. You were fake overtime can get much larger 20 by 20 or more. But it readily takes to pruning. You can almost cut one to the ground every single year and let it grow back. You don't want to do that. You won't get much of a yield. But a fig can be brutally manipulated the fit in a space but start off by giving it the right amount of room. The fruit of the fig that Celeste produces reliably every year. It is so sweet and delicious..

"There's a guy ripping my mask off and he was he was able to rip away my baton. Beat me with it on No, he was practically foaming at the mouth. So just these people were true believers in the worst way when things were looking better, you know, obviously, I was calling out for all I was worth and officer behind me was able to get give me enough room to pull me out of there and they brought me to the rear. So I was able to express myself. Cognitive dissonance on the zealotry of these people is unreal. You know, they were waving the thin blue line flag and telling us you know, we're not your enemies while they were attacking us. And you know that killed one of us. Stay home. Stop this, But you know, On the other hand, I kind of thought. I hope their cart. Let's leave it at that. There is some belief that the people at the front thought all the police would be on their side, I guess and would just let him through. And as soon as they put up any resistance, it was okay. You're one of them. Whoever them is, you're not on the correct side here well, and there's speculation that some of the Capitol police were on their side. I don't know whether that's true or not. There are quite a few groups in the U. S who believe in the need for the violent overthrow of the government from the right. Who sought this opportunity to T O implement their plan and they came damn close to at least doing some enormous damage and five people are dead. I mean, that's damaged enough. What sickens me and what's so counterproductive right now? Well, I guess we have one more clip. Don't wait. I'll make that point in a second. Let's hear D C police officer Kristina Laurie. The individuals were pushing shoving officers hitting officers. They were spraying us with what we were calling. They're essentially bare maids. Oh, yeah, That's one thing I want to mention from the Wall Street Journal video. So you see a great angle of Ah, few cops lightly armed as this mob comes from comes toward them, and they quickly realize holy crap. I mean, we're going to get overrun and they were quickly, but so they get out their little. You know, Mace is like, you know, women carry around to protect themselves in the parking lot or whatever, their their little pepper sprays. And these these giant dudes who came there with you know their flags. They quickly hold the different way and you become aware that okay, that's carrying a giant bat is what you're doing with that flag, and that's why you were carrying that. And they have these giant canisters of bear Mace. So the police are going to stand there going. Oh, this fire hose a bear Mace in their face, right? Just made to shoot like 35. Ft. Yeah. Yeah..
