"The rangers damage the Panthers playoff hopes with the four three win at Florida. Patrick Kane scored the tie breaking goal early in the third period. It was Kane's 450th career goal. He played long enough, you know, sometimes you reach these milestones, so obviously not the prettiest one, but I'll take it. Dr. Daniel Amen Shares an Amazing Story About an Overweight Friend

"Tell us about one of the friends you talk about in this book where you met with a friend who was overweight and you loved them enough to say, hey, you probably need to lose some weight if you want to get your life right. And he did, and he lived a better life. Oh, it's just such an emotional story for me. Mark and I had been friends. He's a psychologist, and we go to the same conference every other year. And we're having dinner at the restaurant, and I see him injecting himself with insulin. At the table. And I'm like, Mark, how much, how tall are you? He said, I'm 6 feet. I said, how much do you weigh? He said, 244 pounds. And I calculated on my phone as BMI, which was 31. And I'm like, dude, you're obese. And I also saw him order chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and a brownie for dessert. And after I saw that, I couldn't just stay quiet. And I said, I'm like, Mark, you're obese. And he's like, Daniel, you're so cold. I'm not as cold as you're going to be when you're 6 feet under. What's the matter with you? Why aren't you paying attention to your health? And any of the dessert. And I help. As I love him, but when we were at that conference, two years later, he'd lost 52 pounds. And I was having lunch with his wife. And with Mark, and he was telling me how much better his sex life was. And I'm like turning red, but it's absolutely true when you get physically healthy. Blood flow, you have better blood flow to your brain and it's just so simple. You have to wonder how many people that go in and they get these very aggressive pharmaceuticals how supplementation will tell us supplements in a second after the break and just losing some weight could at least improve some of their symptoms.

"Let me go to this. It says the left leaning website LGBTQ national appeared to be running interference for Sutherland and posted while there is no evidence of Sutherland and age 31 had sexual abuse abused children police discovered images of child pornography on his computer according to WTO. Sutherland's own owns child pornography was found with the child sized doll in his bed and worked in the elementary school until he was arrested for painting groomer on two libraries. Can't that be the reason enough to keep him away from kids? Now, I'm just wondering, I got to do my research a little more on this one because it seems like it says an LGBTQ left wing leaning site is running interference for him. So then it makes me wonder was he a conservative being nutty about this topic or was he actually a liberal trying to paint the picture that conservatives or spray painting nefarious things on libraries? Because I've seen both of these things happen. I've seen black people paint the N word on their locker and then say it was a white person come to find out he painted on his own locker. I wonder is this the same thing with his groomer situation? Because I've seen often oftentimes that these people that support the LGBTQ often are grooming themselves. And then I've also seen people who are so against it are the main ones doing nefarious things. And it's not just leftists that are doing this. I think it's mostly leftist. But there's Republicans that did it. It's a Republican in the state of Arizona. He was running for some office, and he in there, you know, you know, doing something he shouldn't have been doing in front of an elementary school. So to me, he'll creepy dude. He had no business doing that and he intentionally went in front of the elementary school to do it. And y'all know what I'm talking about. The toronto maple leaves and we should probably start to the with the injury to ilya mckenna's socks that was tough balanced on monday. But i hear it's going to be a little bit. Yeah so then. They had probably two guys. They're gonna have to put on waivers on sunday. And they only bronx in mario basically got the job because of it. It's a tough loss for them because mikheyev it so much approve this year. I think he's pretty devastated by. It really sucks. I'll tell you this. I like bunting you know. Kasha same question can be healthy healthy. Stay healthy think. Richie is kind of what they need. I think they're faster than they were last year. Which is not insignificant out. Tell you this you know. We started this podcast with carolina. We ended up with toronto. I just wonder if the goal tiny's good enough. How go okay when you look at a team like toronto you. One of the things that makes tampa a freak. I think is how great the goaltending is. And i've always wondered if you took like a nine twelve or nine ten. Save percentage goaltender and plunked him on the tampa bay lightning. How much would really change. So by my question about the leases. What's the magic number for. Save percentage normally say man if you had a goaltender like the nine to fives deep run in the playoffs. Can the maple leafs do it. If the goal is are like nine ten do they have enough firepower high. I think they do. I like monir on the power. Play what they've done with him in the bumper. The spot for him. Yeah i like that too. I do think they have enough firepower. Do but i just think they don't want that like this whole amazon show is about keith. Getting on them like you got to play a certain way. You gotta play a certain way. They're going to be thrilled with shootouts. All season long or that kind of way of playing all season long to me. "Setting really good goaltender ottawa. We risk dating this podcast because when it out the deal may have already been done. Can't talk about audubon. Without talked about brady ca chuck. Did you watch our exhibition game on saturday night. I did elliott. I again with open collar very controversial. Well you know what I just like everybody to see like the sweater. I wear underneath the shirt. So did you hear my take on on cacak. Yes so essentially. We've wrong your take on. This is towards the end of the game to you said. Look second emission remission. He said something along the lines of look. If he's not gonna do the long term deal bet on your team right now in the next three years. You have a lot of good young players. Take your shot now while he's agreeing to that three years. That's what i would do. I see people saying oh well if you only give them three years one year walk to usa you know to me. That's loser thinking that. Is you just saying that. We can't make this work no matter what the key thing is here one. He likes playing there too. He's with guys. He knows he likes playing with josh. Norris drag bathurst. Tim stewart slow. Alex berenson all these guys up front chabad on the blue line. He likes it when he was drafted. He i don't think he thought he was going to like it. He likes it. Don't screw with that. You have to say if you're ottawa. We've got a good young team and we've got good young players and we have to bet that he's gonna wanna stay with this and if you can't get a budget because i think this i think they need a great start there's always uncertainty. There's questions about the size of the ticket base. Get him in there and get off to a great start. Get them done by wednesday so he can play by thursday. That's what i would do if i was auto. I'd say fine three years. Let's go if you're not gonna bend. We need you hear the call in white injury. Hurt ya but there have been some positive signs coming at a training camp most notably shane pinto. Who i think has turned a lot of heads. Very good. I should've mentioned him too. I think they're i wonder if they're going to go out and get a center. I don't think it would surprise anybody. It makes too much sense. There's a couple of things about ottawa for me. One listen that that top line if they can get pretty good chuck back in the mix here soon with northbound thurston and get checked. That's real good stood continues to look better and better and every time you see them. You see even even saw glimpses on saturday freed game that you were working with with david and jennifer like every now and then. It's like okay. There's tim's law. This guy is going to be fantastic. Alex form straight line fast. Like just blazing speed nick. Paul says a hard worker conner brown still one of my favorite players and the you like connor brown a lot too. There's a lot of reasons. Ottawa i keep coming back though. Too big question marks in net and. I don't love the defense yet. I think one day this defense is going to be good. It's just not going to be anytime soon. I guess not this season that ottawa's can have good blue line. How do you see the sense. I'm with you on murray and the feeling on that he looks better like physically. He looks better. he's bigger it looks stronger and bigger. I've always been jealous of him. Because he's a really skinny guy. And i haven't been skinny and thirty three years. So you're jealous of matt murray twenty-seven-year-old nhl netminder who. When he's skinny goaltender played junior hockey member used to say he would turn sideways and vanish but he looks bigger. He looked stronger. I like that a lot of the other things too is yet. I agree with you on the d. But like i said every teams flawed. And they're kind of starting over like we're taping this on sunday night the to me and adam brooks waiver claim here makes a lot of sense. Dj smith yup maple leafs association the tampa bay lightning the defending stanley cup champions. Who have had you know. Part of their arsenal depleted Most notably the entire third line. There we made and for good reason a lot about but this is still a team That has brayden point. that has kucherov. That has sally and stamkos and headman and surrogate chevy and mcdonough and the big one andrei vasilevskiy. So where do you think they feel like. They should finish in the regular season this year. I don't think they care at all. They don't give a flying you-know-what at a rolling doughnut regular season. They'll get themselves ready. They'll they'll make sure they're in a good spot. Don't care just get in. And then just say we'll deal with this. But i do think you're right and that line was funny. I was talking to glenn. Healy on on saturday night. And he's tap is gonna win again. I said there they lost that line. He's like glenn. Nothing and i'm like wine. They've got some nasty guys there. You know the the bell mars in the and the perry's room. Those guys are maroon. But they're a little bit older. I don't know how much you're putting a lot of those guys in second line minutes which is basically what the gorge goodra coleman line wise. So that's the one thing. Like how do they deal with that all year. And that's a huge hannity. How do they reinsert that. That's my only question about this team. The only one. I have. And i think that barbara is getting claimed. That's a tough player to put on. Waivers he's not getting syracuse. No against syracuse. I'll tell you what we're gonna see a lot more of this year. We're going to see a lot more. Ross colton and from what we saw last year. That's a good thing as good player. And you're gonna see a lot of ross colton beside corey. Perry and. I don't think he's going to replicate that word line but trying to put together a third line that that does some of the things at that line did. I don't know man. Ross colton corey perry together. That's a pretty good start isn't it. I it's fantastic..

"I'm distracted looking at my team. Being like i don't know about this okay. So caroline you've got you've got vegas. Rangers phillies seattle chicago. Pittsburgh columbus anaheim. What do you think yes. You'll finish top four. I'm unsure. yeah. I'm not feeling overly confident but i'm not highly disappointed. See i have to say that this pool. This pool is the most random completely crazy pool. Having played it. Several times is the most random completely crazy pool that you're ever going to enter. It's basically a lottery. There is almost no. I mean i understand. Some of the moves that dave and jeff. We're talking about looking at schedules. But there is almost no rhyme or reason to this thing and you'll be infuriated in the middle of the season when one of your teams loses someone. It is absolutely no business losing to. That's the best part about this. The way i looked at it from this pool is okay. You get like your top team. Obviously which for me is vegas. And then i was just trying to pick the teams that i really have no idea how they'll be but i like to think that they'll be pretty good. So that's the rangers flyers and then she right through seattle in there but more so chicago so those are teams. I'm happy to gamble on. If you weren't gambling this pool would be no fine. Like making ridiculous picks in the middle. It would be no fun. So i totally support that. Are you going to update us throughout the season. They're going to be like going to be going back and forth so every night. We know who's got the cup and who's got how many days man that's going to get unhealthy fast. Chances are are one person i mean. There's a good chance one person wins both those things it happens. He's going to be losing. So amber your teams are colorado vancouver. Florida washington toronto. Ottawa montreal and buffalo. You have replaced. Ryan smith as captain canada team. What kind of tell you i. I think a very good chance here. Okay merrick you've got tampa carolina detroit edmonson. Minnesota's saint louis the kings and the arizona. Yeah i don't like my team. I want to treat it straight up for da's david's team. I like da's really all right. I do. I like your team. Da are you taking that offer a one for one deal. Yeah straight up. Also you my team for one hundred twenty five right and i've got islanders. Winnipeg dallas boston calgary new jersey nashville and san jose. Please direct deposit at cibc. I'll give you my account number. And dave the saying goes like this. Lord thank you. Oh lord for allowing me to be in the same studio as my king my liege elliott friedman feel free to dress it up. Dress it up our guys. Well thank you very much for your participation caroline and dave we thank you. Thank you guys for agreeing on this. And i by the way just so everyone knows. Jeff doesn't get a day or a point for tampa having the cop at the beginning of the year. No that's bogus man. I i won this thing. They get i get. I get one for day one. No no you. Don't they gotta win. Pittsburgh they got out of if pittsburgh beat tampa opening night. No get zero points for. No no i get to. I won the won the draft. That's got to count for something. You want shuffle from the commissioner here after the draft telling the rules. I dunno door. It won't be the last time. I change the rules in the middle of the pool door. David do no. There's no more canadian. Division like the actually have to play the atlantic and the metro and while not the method see. Now i'm sad. I didn't pick a canadian team or trades allowed with no rules bad canadian. Now this question killing. Because i've never seen one of these before but i think to make it fun. We should allow trades however my suggestion is so for example. If say jeff wants to trade. Detroit and detroit's held the cup for five days. I think he should keep the five days. The other person can't get the five days. Oh yeah no. Yeah a crude wins. Keep yeah absolutely then we could make traits wants. The season starts. Acc all your buffalo for vegas. Can i interest you in a coyote. Sierra leone for arranger. What do you think i want one of your canadian teams amber. I feel i feel like such a bad canadian. All souverain work on a deal. Now which one. You're dealing dave dave on the brady could shock of Negotiators here i'm. I'm not settling friday. There's no hometown discount for you. See see i'm sorry. Okay i'll talk to you in a week all right. Let's let's let the dust settle and we'll see where we're at ambers at the end of october with zero days with the cop. We'll see what he's i am. Going to go bonkers. Hey laptops who. Who's do you like. Whose team do. I like honestly kind of jobs. What i don't even let out of. Dude i don't even like i like i like numbers to i think he's got the best team. Just got some good low keys in there. That i'm kind of excited about going. Go sayers again amber colorado vancouver florida washington toronto. Ottawa montreal buffalo. Yeah that is good. Well i might not get anything on the back end there but we'll see i mean none of us might get anything on the back end because all about timing right. There's only one cup. Yeah that's it that's the thing it's not even about the team is just the schedules gonna play dictate some of it. Too bad teams. Get hot at the end. Yo let's go. Let's go red wings. Let's go coyotes. That's actually something. I in fact i only have two teams in the west back. Screw you know you can totally shut out west only play west and i only have you know. I don't have an opportunity to get my hands on the cup. Oh god what have i done okay. I'll trade. I'll trade into anita west team for one of these canadian teams. You think it through. Well i've got seattle anaheim chicago. Chicago is not liking what you got. You're saying vegas i purposely. Didn't mention vegas. Because i'm not trading vegas dollar us i do. What do you think those terms get you put in jail. Thanks very much guys. we really appreciate it. Thanks for having a smell s fund. Good luck to everyone but especially in tampa bay one here. We go enjoy guys all right. Thanks a lot guys so Jeff thanks a lot for Allowing yourself to be usurped for this one episode. We hope everybody enjoys it. And don't hesitate to the pool on your own. It's a lot of fun a..

"I don't think there's too many. Think the next generation will be more like that. Yes i think they'll be way more outspoken. And stuff yeah. I definitely think so but for me my personality lake. They might be like that and like the media and stuff like that. But i don't think they'll be doing the same things i did when i i came in the league like they're all delta health and all this stuff now you know what i mean. It's like we okay okay. So what is the best story you can tell us. That won't get us all fired about drew doughty coming in the. You can't believe you did. Oh man well that gold medal stories crazy like being late for the bus. I wasn't late for the bus. Actually the bus left without me. Let's we have to clarify that. And i can have. I'm gonna get the guy that was controlling the buses to to clarify this. Because everyone thinks late but i was not late but that story is absolutely insane socially just tell stories okay. So the bus left without me. I was to ship my gear home. Because i didn't want my luggage because i had to go on the road after the olympics like dallas or something so i was trying to ship stuff. Back to la. I was taking the first bus olympics. Than because i had to ship out this stuff at aside. Take the second bus on the gold medal game and they thought i was on the first bus and the bus. But you couldn't just hop in a cab because you're at the village head to the and there's like so much security everywhere so they give me a shuttle they take me as close as they can to the arena which ends up like hudson bay company like in a mall so i like go to the bottom after like take elevator up in this mall. I end up. Blake walking and then like the lineup to go through. The metal detector is like five hundred people and then i called people like judy. You've got a game like an hour and forty five minutes. what are you doing. And i'm like i please. You guys might like peter's like my whole sure all the way down here and i'm like texting flurry on the team. He was like the third goalie so he wasn't like getting dressed or anything. Like you'll get my guess which is like my underclothes might get that stuff out in the hallway and that same time. The guy that's controlling the buses like trying to help me sneak into because it was his fault that the bus laugh and then so i like get in there dress quickly in the hallway. Just leave my suit and stuff in the hallway and then like walk in and like. I'm not even joking. You like one minute into my walk in there. The coach is meeting begins. Like i got my stalin time. The only people that knew. Mike richards flurry in this bus guided. The only people that knew until mike. Richardson said to say it on. Like a podcast. I didn't even tell my parents or nobody's my mom and like are you kidding injury like you gotta be like yeah. That's a story forever though unbelievable probably because i had no time to think just panicking. That's probably why yeah. Have you thought about what you wanna do. Post career yet thought about it. I don't wanna think about acted like cry. Thinking after retiring but nudge. So hope. I gotta get ninety eight years in my career. I wanna play top forty or yeah tell. My body allows me. I wanna play as long as possible. But the reason i bring it up because one of my kids is played in the doughty invitation which is great awesome tournament a wonderful experience. They still wears his doughty hockey. Invitational with the king's fund. And all that still around the house is out something you want to get involved in minor hockey youth hockey. I think so my leg number. One thing i want to do is like honestly. It's like owner junior team or like work for junior team or something like that. But at the same time i definitely want to. I'll continue to to give back to like the hockey and organiz ation. I grew up playing for. I'll continue to always have that tournament and helping that aspect. I don't know if i necessarily wanna get into coaching young kids. I mean maybe if one of my kids played hockey. I would maybe do it but my dream would definitely probably be on nights or like wellstone that that'd be maitree our last one. The fans would like to hear this. When you first came into the room we were talking. You said you cannot wait to play in front of fans the air. So i think the fans should know how much the mean towards the best I mean when you're at home you know they just driving you to play better. Nothing we score bid goal and you feel goosebumps like we haven't had to goosebumps in a long time without the fans there so and then like nothing better than like getting booed by entire crowd score and just thaw make them all quiet. You know that there's a good feeling. That's a good feeling so No i miss a fan so much so much better playing in front of them. I think that's obvious Fan base is One of the reasons. We're even able to go out there and play because they support us there for us They pay money to come watch us play and they drive the team for sure. Is there one player. You can't wait to play against this year. One player can't wait weights play against. I'm looking forward to playing next ezekie skate with them in the summer Guys play out. She's good and he's like so say skeets and london so i'm looking for. I've never played against him only in pick up hockey so i'm looking forward to did. I don't think i had. But i'm looking for planning.

"Into the summer when the team was already done a lot of their business. It's not not make more sense to you. I think when you feel you can strike you. Strike anna carolina. Hurricanes have struck anything else before we wrap up this quickly. Edition of thirty still thirty-one thoughts the podcast soon to be thirty to thirty two. You know i'm really curious to see where all this cycle stuff is going to go up you know. I was very surprised to hear the news that he was switching agents. Everything that happened in the last couple of months from michael side he knew everything about it like he approved it. You know. he's the one who really wants to do this surgery and he was the one who wanted to release the statements when they were released. I don't think that his previous agents. Peter fish and he donatelli did anything differently than he wanted but from what i understand he just decided that maybe a new approach was necessary. And you know we'll see where it goes but like i said like those previous agents. They fought thought everything that that michael wanted. they did. yeah and they fought for him. Sometimes maybe you just need the velvet glove instead of the hammer. The one entity that i think of through all of this now more so than ever before as always in my head positioned it as tea. Michael versus team buffalo sabres. The one group. That i wonder about here is an. I don't even know if they can do anything about it. But i can't help thinking that if i am the nhl. I'm looking at this cycle. Saga has dragged itself out through the season into the off season It flares up every now and then there's been no resolution. There's been no surgery and now there's not going to be a jack michael to start the season if i'm the nhl. I'm just waltz. It's funny you mentioned that jeff. Because i was going to add that i found out i was working on this and now we might as well do it because you brought this up. There was a meeting in buffalo. I might have my days off. Because i was up at the cottage. I think it was wednesday. This eighteenth there was a big meeting in buffalo league was there. The players association was there. I go was there. His reps were there. That was still when he was with peter fish and the sabres were obviously there. I'm not sure if the sabers were. The doctors were there in person or via zoom. I don't know that one hundred percent. But i think everybody put their cards on the table and i think the players association wanted to hear it everything firsthand and i think the league wanted to hear everything firsthand and basically what i heard was there was no resolution. Everybody laid everything out. And i think they're still the sabers position hadn't changed as a matter of fact like i heard that everybody was still pretty dug in and we're still waiting to see where this is going to go. And maybe that's one of the reasons to that eichel made the change. Maybe like a steady needed the try. The velvet glove instead of the hammer will see by one of the reasons. I hadn't reported yet until you just dragged it out of me like under the form of torture is that i was trying to find out what the resolution was and as far as i understand there hasn't been a resolution like nothing changed. The sabers stayed in their position. Aigle stayed in his position and the league in the players association supported the player and the league's supported the organization in the cba. So i don't know that anything changed and it's been twelve days since that meeting almost eleven days. That's a whopper. We'll see where this one goes and we'll see where the offer sheet goes. And i suspect that before it changes to thirty two thoughts considering the nature of this. Guess berry kenya me. Offer sheet and the nature of. What's happening with jack eichel elliot. I don't want to say that. We're back to in fulltime podcasts yet. Because we're not. But i don't think this is the last thirty one thoughts the podcast that you'll hear before it turns into thirty two. Thanks again for doing this under adverse conditions and it's great.

"Okay freeze get rolling here We have a lot to get to namely every team in the nhl. And where they're at and what's next for them we're gonna start the pacific we'll go division by division start west and go east and we'll start with a team that's been pretty quiet and some might say too quiet and some might say this is a calm before some type of storm may be a big trade who knows. Serve the anaheim ducks. He'd been pretty quiet. Elliott been pretty quiet really quiet and they have a lot of guys going into the last years of deals right so you know you're looking at that and saying okay. What exactly is going to go on here. Where the going you know. I did for a little bit here recalls name out there because i heard the docs weren't crazy about you. Know the number that it was going to cost to extend them but obviously that hasn't happened yet. You know the thing about bob murray is he's very patient and other. Gm's who deal with him say that he'll be like no no no no no and then all this you'll be like okay. This is never happening. You know come back with with yes and you're like where did that come from. So you know they've been around on eichel i think buffalo's asked to them has been really high. Think anaheim ask them about The number one overall pick it. I don't think it was closed. Buffalo really considered it. But you know they've been one of the teams. It's been around on eichel. And i'd still be surprised if we got to next year and they hadn't done something interesting. I don't know what that interesting thing is going to be like. There's gonna be a group of people here that say okay. We didn't do much in the short term. But you know maybe we do something in the second wave or third wave. And i think anaheim is going to be one of those teams. I think they're waiting and waiting and waiting to see what comes to them and says okay. We didn't get our first or second thing done now. We're coming to you. For third thing we saw tampa make a deal for brent seabrook. Yup can you see anaheim. Doing a deal with ryan kesler contract. They've let people know they'll do things like that like they're willing to be creative. That's kind of where we are and nothing would surprise me. I think they're willing to try some things. I think they're trying to think a little bit differently. As an organization you know jeff solomon is there now and from the kings in. I think that's one of the things they're looking at is how can we do some things that maybe we didn't consider or didn't do before Real quick before we get to calgary are ryan gets laugh remains in anaheim dock. There were rumors about edmonson rumors about nashville etcetera. Your thoughts on him staying in anaheim. I think it's what the docs wanted. I think dallas did make a pitch for them a big one a legit one. I think nashville did too. We heard edmondson's name. I think montreal has looked at him for you know the last year but now with perry leaving. I wondered if it just wasn't going to be possible. I kind of always expected. He would be back but he looked around There's no question about it calgary. Flames bring in. Blake coleman tyler pit lick nikitas adore off all moves that look like well just to be blunt darryl sutter type moves trevor lewis trevor lewis as well correct and he's a guy that sutter's love for a long time. You expect the sutter team to be really hard to play against. And they got a lot harder to play against you know. He has an identity that he likes and that team is definitely gone to that identity. I think they liked nick. Ritchie two brads there. I think they tried to bring nick ritchie over as well who chose toronto. That's going to be their identity. That's what they're looking at. I still think calgary is gonna look around until the eichel thing is settled. I believe they've been right in the middle of all of that. I don't think they're died. I think if they can find something else to do. It's interesting for them. they might do it. I know out there. The whole thing about good rose trade list coming in. You can only five teams. That was a big talking point in the market. I don't think the flames ever considered that a major pressure point. I really don't think they ever really looked like we have to get it done or else the list comes in i. I never got a sense. That was an issue. I think we'll continue to look around at things by at the very least as you said. They've transform themselves into more of sutter. Team you're gonna hate playing against them. Edmonton oilers cody. Warren fogel comes in freeth and bear who they signed who they signed. Zach hyman darcy camper of arizona and darnell nurse extension on the horizon that considering what the marketplace for defense is right now make amenity similar price there we say to jones and more renske your thoughts on what edmonton's done. Well i do a radio hit. Every friday on Bob staffers showing edmonton was my last radio. Hit of the year this year earlier in the week. jeff. I'd reported that they were looking at a four year extension with nurse. I think that has now changed. I believe now. They're looking at the eight year term. And i would expect that. That number is going to be around. Hamilton's number. hamilton did seven times nine. I'm thinking that if nurse does get this done and they are working hard of it. It's going to be around the times nine range you know camper. I think they lost out on camper because whichever prospect they offered. And i don't know who it was arizona like connor timmons more than they liked what edmonton was willing to offer. And that is why. Arizona went with that package. Fobel's a really interesting one in the sense that there was a ton of interest in fogel like i heard that carolina was actually a little bit surprised by how much the interest there. He was in to the point where they said. Are we kind of making a mistake here. Should we keep them. But they couldn't get a deal done and and now fogel got one done in edmonton. You know of all the things they did. You know the two that. I kinda really stood out with the most were bare and cece cece played really well in pittsburgh last year you know the even some teams that played against him said that they thought he would be a total non factor based in what they'd seen in the last couple of years but he played really well. They're like he's not a guy who i think is bothered by a lot of things you remember when we did an interview with mark stone. We told them you know we were talking about quote. Ec in stone laughed. And he said yeah. You'll never get anything out of him. So i kind of wanted. If he'd want to come back into this it did surprise me of it. We'll see how that goes by. The bear thing released surprised me. Because i really like bear. I like him as a player. I think he's still got a lot of room to grow and get better. I recognize you have to give quality to get quality but bear is the one move. I wonder if edmonton's gonna look back in the future and say i wish we could have had that one over. What do you think about all this. I'm a huge fan of ethan bear. I think that ethan bear you know. Actually you mentioned darnell nurse and that impending contract on the rise in any ethan bear help make darnall nurse better defenceman like certainly darnall nurse helped out ethan bear but i think the bear really in a lot of ways also help darnell nurse edmund to me was the most interesting team just because they had a lot of holes to fill and it seems as if this is a squad that has a couple of ferraris and it's almost as if the general manager has the most complicated rubik's cube to try to figure out here. What do you put around connor. Mcdavid leandra settle. How do you make all of this work. And not all of them are going to be hits..

"First of all. Thank you so much for joining us today. On thirty one thoughts the podcast and as we've talked about before on this show everybody listening everybody involved in this program Everybody goes through journeys of self discovery throughout their life. And i just wanna start this by congratulating you on your journey of self-discovery that brought you to this moment to day. How do you feel now. I feel amazing. You know. I kind of started this process back in june of last year when i started telling most of my family and friends and just being able to finally come to terms with things being okay with who i am and living my true self. You know this past year has been crazy with Cuts it's been amazing just to kind of go through this journey and be myself. Who's the first person you told it was my sister. And if you'd ask me that you know three or four years ago that would i probably would have laughed in your face because me and my sister were not close at all. And when we came back from calgary me and my brother when covert and are seizing canceled just created this really cool bond and those first four five six weeks when we couldn't really do anything we were kind of inseparable always doing stuff together hanging out in the house playing board games stuff like that. She was the first person i told and styles probably around in april and we had this really cool bond that we gathered over kovin. She's always been there for me when i've had questions or when i haven't been feeling as myself Then i should and it's been really cool to create that bond with her and see how much support she has for me. One of the reasons. I want to ask about this. Luke is your nineteen now and there's going to be a lot of teenagers who are going to hear this and they're gonna say. Luke did the journey that i'm going to need to do. And they're going to be very thankful you did this. And they're gonna feel emboldened that you did this so they're gonna kinda wanna know how you did it so they can understand how they might be able to do it for sure for me. I mean it wasn't lake. I woke up one day. And i was like. Oh i'm gonna tell my mom or i'm gonna tell my dad or i'm going to tell you know all my best friends. It came to me at a time. Where i just felt really comfortable in that moment and i was like okay. You might not get this feeling again for a while and you'd like to tell it to them rather than having someone else find out like from someone else. So when i talked to alanna. I was sitting in my room. I was watching some sort of movie just kind of thinking about you know what i might say. Or what am i tell her. And i'm just gonna. I'm just said screw it so i went upstairs to her room is. She was the first person i told so. It was very emotional. You know. I started breaking down in tears soda. She and it just came to that moment where it's like something something inside of me. It was like okay. You need to tell her. And then that's kind of how it was for everyone that i that i told you. Know with my best friends It was just a random day. We're playing spike ball. And then we came back to my house. We all kind of gathered around my kitchen counter. And again i just had this feeling in the pit of my stomach. I'm gonna tell these guys. And you know i'm gonna see what the reaction is if it's good if it's not. I'm still going to be happy that i told them. So that's how it came for me. It might not be the same way for other individuals. But that's how it me. What was the reaction like. I mean i have not had. Someone have a bad reaction. It seems like nowadays. Almost everyone knows someone who's gone through the coming out. Process has a family member or a friend who's gale and it was a very emotional topic for mother. My first few times i had spoken about it with my mom with my sister with my dad especially my best friends because those are the people that like if they don't accept it and they don't support you. It's almost like you wish you hadn't told them just because they're so important to you in your life. But i mean all the reactions. I've gotten have been so supportive of the people i've told have been emotional as well. You know. it's just one part of me. I'm still their best friend. Doesn't change the way they look at me. You know to some of my teammates. I've told you know it doesn't change the way they look at me in the locker room or how we hang out outside of hockey. I'm still luke. I'm still a hockey player. I'm still their best friend. So all the reactions. I have had an amazing. I'm fifty two years old. Luke and i grew up playing hockey in toronto in an era. Where how should i say. This hockey wouldn't allow someone to come out. It was near impossible just knowing what they would go through and it destroyed lives. It destroyed people at destroyed relationships. How is hockey. Been for you and did this sport. Keep you from being you for what you now understand is probably too long a time. I don't think so. I mean obviously with hockey. The locker room is something that people talk about when this stuff comes up with the the banter in some of the actions and stuff like that. Personally i didn't. I mean i didn't really feel the people that did it. You know it was almost like those. Were the people that i wasn't going to tell you know early on because i wasn't comfortable with because i could see in other actions i didn't want them to. I didn't want them to know from me. Just 'cause just didn't feel comfortable or didn't feel right with me because of how they're acting or what they were saying. So i mean. I had only told two of my teammates. Gone calgary and those guys. Were you know the people that i had trusted obviously with the biggest secret of my life and i had known them previously for four three years outside of playing with calories so i had known those guys long time hockey. I don't think so to your point of it was the process of me being comfortable with it. i mean. even. If i didn't play hockey i still think it would've taken me this long as well and everyone has a different journey. Everyone has a different path. And how how young. And how when when they wanna come out if anything. Maybe hockey is actually made me. Wanna do it sooner Just because i have seen you know. I've seen so much stuff on the internet and going through this whole process. I've done a lot of research and you know. I think this is something that hockey needs and definitely needs more of a needs. No more awareness towards this topic in you know. I wanted to bring attention to it. And so i wouldn't say that it was rushed in the sense that this is why i'm doing it but it was obviously a reason for me to come out for sure. So when you went back to calgary this year for the short season your brother..

"Is it. Hyman isn't our mea is in another ford. It's one less thing for the oilers to have to worry about here. And i do wonder if that was a factor. Keith wants to be there your players. Give him a positive review. You think he's going to be better behind. Nurses opposed to the number one guy and you have something in place where a lot of other places you have question marks. That's the way. I see it one of the things that i wonder about here. Elliott is. how much of a market was there for. Keith or how much of this was driven by duncan keith. That this was duncan keith. Wanting to go to play with connor mcdavid and the edmonson oilers and this was chicago's way of accommodating. Someone who as i mentioned the top one stanley cups norris trophies one of if not the greatest blackhawks defenseman of all time. This was their way of saying. Thanks for doing all that well under market value. I think a couple things number one. I think keith initially started the process by asking to be close to his son like he explained how little he saw his son. During the media conference last year was pretty difficult. Not being able to see my almost three months without seeing them and then had a quick little visit and then another close to two months without seeing him so i know that the border restrictions in those type of things might be a little bit different this year but i was still at a point where he's eight years old now. He's got his things going on. And so i just thought that as time went on in the offseason realized i didn't want l. new. I didn't wanna go those long periods of time without seeing him so i'm excited to be closer to him and be able to see more frequently and have been more more involved and being able to to come down to edmonton. I think anybody. Who's any kind of parent would understand what he was talking about their him. Wanting to be closer. I also think chicago was willing to do it. Because one they had an expansion protection issue and to they want to go after either jones or hamilton. So both of those things were a factor. Here there's five teams though. I think were potentially and consideration. I don't think winnipeg for geographical reasons. I don't think winnipeg was ever in it. I don't think that vancouver was ever in it. I think if calgary did anything. It was very cursory. I think it was edmonton and for a time. It was seattle but then it became purely edmonton and they haggled for a couple of weeks. And they they made the deal. This is where we ended up and the other thing is. He's not gonna play first line minutes or i pair minutes. He's going to be a second pair guy for them. So one of the things that that is interesting here is because whispers about players like we're getting tweets about like this is like larry robinson going to la kings. This is like doug harvey at the end of the career going to the saint louis blues. This is leeches elif things like this. Generally get whispered right. There's this conversation that doesn't make it. That doesn't make it to the public but this one is very public and i wonder. Abode duncan keith. The player. There's no answer to this and it's not even a question as much as it's a common. There's no real answer to this. Other than i wonder what happens inside dunkin. Keith's mind reading all of this and hearing all of this like this has been very public. The criticism has been very public. There's nothing new that's been added to the conversation today other than you think. He sees the criticism. Yes i do. And i want because i firmly believe that players. If even if you don't read it yourself you hear about it. it's impossible it's impossible to avoid it. I don't know if i believe that. Okay i don't believe it's impossible to avoid it. I don't believe that. At all. But i believe some people block it out better than others. I have a hard time believing that players at that level. Don't know the story going on around them keith. He might. I don't know he was always. He always seemed to me like a guy who kind of kept things said arm's length if he was a guy who was worried about what people thought it was probably the people who affected his playing time or his role could be kind of growly with media and surly on the ice. I don't know maybe he does by all i can say. Is this if you took me away. Basically from my son for almost a year. And then you put me back in a position where i could see him a lot more often. I would be wired at the opportunity to play. That's what i'm getting to. There's that issue but also the very public criticism of him. I if you're you tell a future hall of famer Very publicly and create an entire story. Ray lee wrongly. That he's lost a lot of the juice on his fastball. That he's lost this case fired up around ninety eight miles an hour now. He's struggling to get to eighty five. I always wonder what happens to a pro athlete when he hears that. Even if it's at the end of the career to your point you put them in a better and fire. I'm not saying that donkey heath is going to have this magical bounceback season next year with the edmonton oilers. I just don't know how it can't affect you get must like if duncan keith. Everybody's different rightly. I find that. I'm reading comments less than ever like. I think all of these debates that we have about hockey. They're the same the same debates. Nobody's opinion is changing. Like i said this on this podcast the whole analytics versus i test debate. It's tired to me if you don't recognize that there's room for both. I'm not really interested. I just think all of these arguments that we have. They're tired of the same arguments we've been having for five or six years. Listen the one thing about social media that we've learned everything it's out in the open and a lot of the conversations are repetitive at news. Nobody actually argues about issues anymore. It's the same thing in sports. What do we all argue about. Sources where did you get that from. Where did you get that from. And then you criticize the source itself. Never actually talk about the event or the person or thing all you do is argue about where the perspective comes from and i think sports is the same as news right now. That's all that we're doing. Look keith if they were bringing him in to be a first line defenseman. I would say boy. That's setting up for failure. But i'm very curious to see what he's going to be like on the second pair. Whose partners going to be you know all of that stuff. I'm.

"Block by taller foley holds it into the right point. Joseph knocks it off his stick. It's out of the zone. Joseph collects matthew joseph into the offensive zone. Let's come back and this game is tied up to two with six twelve left. What a point by joseph. It was unbelievable. I thought he was gonna shoot it in shoot up but the guy went down in front of him so he just sauce maroon and he passed it to and maroon put it into the net. We're all tied up at two. Do you have a thought on those two plays. I can only imagine. Elliot how loud. It was the bell centre when romanoff scored well. It was hugely loud and it was also loud. Because i think this fan base has wanted to see romantic of play so the fact that he's scored that added another level to they like him and they want him in the lineup. Let's follow this up with With you overtime here and then move on. The podcast is when just going to be a quick you. The way folks Josh anderson scores in overtime. Making it three to this is after nick suzuki again who i thought was real good again in this game. Great game almost ended it short handed style in overtime. Your thoughts on josh anderson. Though he started it he ended it big speed size. Playing with suzuki and caufield thoughts on josh anderson. Well first of all. I have to tell you that happened right below where we sit.

"Filipino scores. That's been called on trying to get some transition here. This he's got sabar cressner his first that cuts the lead in half and we go to the first intermission. What did you think of. Wanna go period by period with this on you. What did you make of the first. You were there your thoughts. It was really amazing. The place was so wired. You know the montreal puts on a great show. Everybody was excited and three and a half minutes in its to nothing tampa came ready to play and you and i talked about this and i think i mentioned it in just about every interview. I did in the in the forty eight hours leading up to game three though lightning. We're going to be juice to play that game. I we all knew montreal was gonna be excited. They were at home. It was their first stanley cup gain at the bell centre. The fans. we're going to be lined up outside. It was gonna be crazy. Their home down to nothing. We all know that but you look at all the quebec connections on the lightning. Oh yeah in the front office on the ice new you replace one injured quebecer. Alice cholorine with another one. Matthew joseph to me the most interesting one and i showed it at the end of the in the first intermission. So all the tampa guys are getting booed when they're being introduced in they're all stone faced except when they go to circuit chavan. He has the smirk on his face. And he's of course got the connection to. He was drafted by the canadians. And i looked at that. And i said they're ready to play like sometimes you try to read someone's emotions and it can go totally flat but the moment that happened i actually asked our producers to keep that shot for me because i said these guys are ready to play and in one of the few instances i was actually right about something. I just think tampa. They're not only a good team there. A high iq team and they're well coached and they know what montreal's going to do and they attack it. They say this is how we're going to stop it or this is how we're going to attack it. You know like kevin talked about you montreal. Paxton very tight. So guys like ruta and headman they know what to do and they score the first two goals i just think again tampa is proving anything you any way. You wanna play anything you wanna try. We're going to be able to handle it. And we thought montreal was gonna come out and blow off the barn doors tonight. Tampa's like nope not happening. We're shutting down. You don't have thought of when. I saw that smirk from surrogate chef. What's that a conversation that i had with rocky thompson when he coached the windsor spitfires surrogate show was their top defense but everyone wins needs to say the same thing mikhail surrogate chev skates like. He's in a rocking chair. He's just easy and smooth and cool and doesn't get stressed and that's how he skate it. That's how he played and circuit shelvin rocky thompson would have these great table. Tennis matches both are really good table tennis players and remember asking rocky once said who wins these and he said. Why don't you go ask them. This is after one of the skates. I wouldn't ask them and all i saw was that smirk. And that's all he would do. It was honesty. Fiji was hilarious and then when we saw that the anthem and you brought it up in the intermission. I'm like i got to mention this on the podcast. Because i've seen that before. That's the table tennis question over the the epoch ping pong battles with rocky thompson with the windsor spitfires. We should point out to And i know goalies will always say well. It went wide Coal cough you'll hit a post in that first period to could go to the first period all tied up at twos after you know the tampa bay lightning. Go up too early in this one. I also by the way. That cooper was really smart not to challenge. Well i absolutely or else and listen to one goal. We're talking because first of all. I thought it was on side. And secondly if he's wrong it's two one in montreal. Gets the power play. And i bet you cooper thought about that like there's some challenges that have really blown up in people's faces this year. Montreal had one in the toronto series. Toronto had one in the montreal series. Cooper had one against the islanders. I think he was just saying unless it's so blatant or not. Even risking this second period was kind of like the first in a sense. Kucherov scores tyler. Johnson scores more than him and a couple of moments. And the knicks suzuki scores to end the period. To keep that flicker of hope alive. The montreal team has provided subject..

"Dangerous is so good he can make deeply. We're on the ice and fight on the ice. The power play was not without him there. The one thing you notice right away is no one on that team and the handed. It seemed like they handed the whole powerplays zone entry over to brayden point good but nobody gets zone as efficiently and susie as easily as nikita kucherov like he gets the zone sets up smoother than maybe anybody else in the league elliott. It's it's friday with frightening that. That's that's where tamper really mean. Outside of like the guy finds seems that nobody else seems. This seems to be able of fine but just the fact that he how easily he gets his own. Take such a large. So you're saying cloud over. I think they're good enough. Isn't team to win without him. I just think it's much much harder. And the and they're gonna have to find something on the power play but you know one of the things that was wild in the day between six and seven was. I guess there was a lot of jockeying for opinion on how kucherov got hurt. And you know we don't know what the injury is right now and. I don't question injuries like if that guys leaving the game eastland chip heard but i heard there quite a battle because you know first of all. I think if you're tampa you're trying to see you know should may feel get extra punishment which isn't happening but be if you're the islanders. You're defending him. Against the fact that that should even occur. And i heard there was a lot of jockeying about it. I got some of it about. How was kucherov actually heard some of us wondered was it on the crosscheck. Boy we all want was on the crosscheck but some were saying for sure it was the crosscheck and then some of us also wondered. Did he maybe get hurt on the play where he tried to hit bars. L. and ourselves ready for. And i guess you know. People were claiming that where he was really injured was when he i guess as elbow or his arm hit the boards. And maybe that's where he got injure so apparently behind the scenes. There was a lot of this jockeying going around about where kucherov was actually injured. It was a fascinating day. A couple of people were telling me about it. But you know to me i think is good enough. They can win without him. But it's a huge loss. It's a hard loss. And i think it's an enormous challenge. You know to me. You know there's a couple of guys in tampa by look at number one vassil eski after a loss. He's unbelievable guy. Kind of laughed. A bit felt bad for was was. John and lightning ran into penalty trouble. He said tweet saying you'd call.

"You're you put them on a pedestal. Having these great opinions maybe with had the idol of having the approval of man. But i guess let me finish and say maybe you you follow somebody. That has an opinion on something and you like agree with them right and then the next thing comes up and they have an opinion on that and because you thought they were right on this other thing you just automatically think that this opinion on this second thing you should all right i and to back to what you're saying the approval of man so the opinions of others about yourself so i think anyone would be lying to themselves if they didn't struggle with this ever. I like to take a people in my past thought. I was stuck up because and i just said i was shy but i just think it was a little Not wanting to embarrass myself so the approval of man. you know. i'd i'd keep to myself not offer opinions or not initiate conversations with people. Because i didn't wanna look stupid or embarrass myself for you. I worried what they would think. Right and i think that's where churches going with us. It's hard because nobody you said you'd be. I would assume that you'd be lying if you said you'd never struggled with that and maybe it's something we just need to a podcast on because it's something god is really been working over in my heart to about about that and it's kind of different subject but next time because we believe that that's possibly move might be tactful that otherwise tack in person to me about it. I love to carry on the conversation that being said so this this week. Also can i just say this because we're living in this cancelled culture. We did a podcast about this months ago. In thaddeus schooled me on what cancelled culture was. But it's very evident nowadays that we are living in this cancel culture. If you don't know what that is back. I don't know what episode number that is but i'm sure i think it's called cancel culture so you can go back and look in our library but we are living in this cancelled culture and i think even more. We're looking for approval a man because of how easy it is to be shut down and because maybe our values and beliefs don't mind up with somebody else's that we'll just be cancelled and it's scary like it's scary because you know if you put an opinion on social media that you might not match with somebody else's value so they're just going to cancel you and delete you and block you and say goodbye to you. Know that's just the society and culture we're living in. It's not even a..

"And god has put creativity inside of us. He has put a longing for justice and truth in all these different things inside of us and he's created us to be these beautiful humans because we are created him at his image. But i think what happens in what i see happening in my own life is i turn around. And i begin to create the god. I serve in image. I want and what represents me and what i agree with. And so therefore if i struggle with this and it's okay with god therefore if i believe this sodas god and we're creating this god who who no longer has an absolute truth and we're creating this god who represents already and in what we believe the world should look like and instead of it being. Here's a thing. God is god. He is omnipotent. He's all powerful he. He's all these different attributes all in one and he's amazing and he isn't trish. Do i in my representative of him. Yes am i created in his image yes but he is not created in my image. But i'm looking to serve a god who is sometimes and i think we as christians and believers we need to be repentant of that and we need to allow our hearts in our lives to be transformed and conformant who got his and allow him to give us a renewing of our minds and our hearts and i was thinking about this analogy. Follow me with this. So that is nice met. When we were sixteen years old and non piece of paper. I had from probably youth camp written down my dream guy and thaddeus does not match all my qualifications for my dream guy. He matches a lot of them but not all of them. But imagine if i for the past almost twenty years we've been together. Never really got to know thaddeus. And i just got all the qualifications that i had on my checklist of what my dream guy would be like. And i my husband was.

"Kirsten's should be holding ourselves to a higher standard in a. We're better the new but knowing right from wrong and things like that and we know what you know right from wrong and there's also this this attitude of an hate it because we're you know we're talking politics and we're talking about christians and or the seems like the loud the loudness of all. This is traditionally conservative. Christians are going to be republicans right and because they're candidate lost and then then there's they kind of throw things around in a way of when they when someone says oh. You shouldn't do that or whatever like like having a bad attitude about it and it's like well look at what the democrats did when they lost last time or whatever right that kind of that stuff. Your tate's me to you because it's like no. We should be better than that. Like as christians not not using what someone else did in blaming them and saying well look what they did. Well no look at yourself and how you're acting in and treating these people and those are just a couple of things that irritate me about what's gone on and all of this and maybe tricia more to add about this. But i think this is where we kind of intertwined too. What trish once. Talk about of pudding looking to man as do you wanna go there yet. Okay so i just wanna. I just want to put a little explanation. Mark on the thought of boat. People prophesying about kings about presidents. I suppose so when you read in the bible about the children of israel looking for a king and they wanted earthly king. They no longer wanted to live off of what the prophets had to say of the day and the judges they wanted a king and so god allowed samuel to prophesy over who would be king right so god did use a profit to put in a king and then again god used profit samuel to put in david and so god does use prophets and. We're not denying that. God uses prophets because we both believe in the gift of a prophet. Okay so i just wanna make sure. I i cover that ground in case the navy. You're listening to this and you're like they're denying that god can use a prophet to that..

"This week on the podcast. We are talking well a little bit of politics in a little bit not about politics and a lot about jesus so if you've been living under And you're hiding under aca jer. In the united states of america we inaugurated a new president. what a week and a half ago or something like that. Charlie push in two weeks ago. I guess and that being said you as a listener. I don't care if you're republican. Democrat libertarian green party legalize marijuana now party. Whatever the the thing is no matter what political affiliation you believe you follow or that you're a part of or whatever the plain and simple as president yes. He's a democrat. I'm not a democrat. I'm not a republican. I consider myself a true independent an independent political party. But i'm just an independent. I'm a free thinker and the bottom line is we have a new president. And i know that there's a lot of people that have voiced very strong opinions one way or the other about who was elected president. Whether you're a truly are the elected president or not or is this a a farce and it's such an and so going into this. There's there's a couple of things. I think couple maybe rabbit shows. I wanna go down and a couple trish wants to go down. But i think the kind of connect sell follow us indoor bunny holes some. We might say and i'm saying we is. We're doing this together and we might not necessarily agree you hundred percent on what we're about to say but what i'm about to say iron sharpening iron baby but that's okay and i think that's honestly the hard part about this day and age and i know we've talked about it before how everyone has an opinion but the fact of the matter is we we all have to live with each other still and it's okay to disagree and it's okay to agree with other people and it's okay to to.
