"6 inches. Starting the day started the day sky of the day this is the start of the day. Stat of the day brought to you by panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. What other baseball notes do we have here? Paul. The angels are a half game out of first place, I believe right now. A game and a half. So right now you're in the wild card picture. And we were talking before the shows, do you think this is a good thing? I go, yes, because you're keeping ohtani in a playoff race and really that's what it comes down to. It feels like. That Joe Maddon talked about this recently where he said, if they're not in contention, he can't see Shohei Ohtani staying with the angels. All right, if it comes down to its either we're in the playoffs or we're not, I'm going to stay or I'm going to go, then this has to be a great thing that you're in the playoff picture right now. This was the ultimate angel's performance. Shohei Ohtani, and then Mike Trout hits a home run. Why do you think this is a bad thing that the angels are in a playoff chase? Well, I start with I agree that there's some good signs to it. Let's say the angels are in contention all season and it changes or showy a tani's opinion on the franchise that, hey, we could be competitive by next 7 years that I signed for. But that puts him in a no man's land. Right now there's 17 to 14 7 out of ten they are definitely in playoff contention. If they continue this pace, they will not trade him. And they will not trade trout and they risk the chance of finishing the season without trading Shohei Ohtani because you wouldn't trade while you're in playoff contention. Have you done? But if you don't trade him at some point this season, you may lose him for nothing. Whatsoever. He could sign with anyone for any price. But don't you think you're going to get a better idea that management is going to say, at some point during the season, hey, we need to make a decision. You need to make a decision, let's make that decision together. Do you want to stay? And if not, then we have to get something for you. You hope so. Or if you're going to stay, this is what we're going to offer you. You would hope so you would hope that management offer him in the next two months. The biggest contract in baseball history, would you take this before the trade deadline? Because then we know what we could do. But it would be almost easier for the angels. Let's say the angels were 20 games out in June, which they bend before. Then they could go, well, it's going to be an ugly headline the next day, but if we trade him to the Yankees Dodgers, et cetera, we can fill our franchise up with good players for the next decade. I agree that that's what they have to there has to be that coming to Jesus moment where you go, God. We're out of playoff contention. We're going to have to trade you. By being kind of in playoff content, I don't think anyone thinks they're going to win the World Series this year. So if they're not, they're in no man's land with Otani. Because the rays are what, 25 and 6. Yeah. I got a hot raised at for you. Oh. After 31 games, the Tampa Bay Rays have outscored their opponents by a total of a 113 runs. That's the highest run differential through 31 games since the Pittsburgh pirates in 1902. Today here comes that what stat of the day top then you have the reverse of that, you have your Oakland a's. Your Oakland a's after 31 games, Dan have been outscored by a 123 runs by their opponents. That is the worst run differential in the first 31 games of a season since. The Cleveland spiders spiders 1899, 1870. 1887. They were terrible. Thank you. Thank you, Tim Kirk. Horrible bullpen for those spiders. Zach grenke pitched last night. He has struck out 20% of the managers in Major League Baseball. He's been around that long. He struck out skip Schumacher, Aaron Boone, Mark katze, Craig counsel, Rocco bell dally, Phil Nevin. He also has faced three other managers, David bell David Ross and Gabe capler. How wild is that? But how old is Zach grinke? He's not older than Scherzer, or Verlander, is he? But the fact that he's struck out 20% is he 38. 99 years old. 39. He struck out 20% of the managers in all the baseball. He might be first team athletes I've never heard interview to my life. When I heard that, I'm like, okay. All right, maybe there's something there. And that's why when you talk to guys, oh man, Clyde's got a great sense of humor. Yeah, pulling. Booker scores 38 points, Suns beat Clippers to even series
"Devin Booker scored 18 of his game high 38 points in the third quarter to lead the signs to a one 25 one O 9 victory over the clippers and tie their Western Conference playoff series at one win apiece. The sun's bounced back from 13 point second quarter deficit with Booker hitting a three pointer to tie the game at halftime. Those obviously a point of emphasis for us to have a better start, but you're still not promised that you're going to make all your shots. So just felt the game out. Settled into it, seeing what they're doing. And just went from there. Kawhi Leonard led the clippers with 31 game three of the series as Thursday in Los Angeles. George Tanner, Phoenix

"It's not either, so yeah, they pick the same quite positive and optimistic that they will get that over the line and that they will host the Euros after the one that we have in Germany. In the following summer, in 2024, so yeah, let's see. By leaving out Old Trafford, I don't know. I'm assuming they don't want to spend public city of Manchester doesn't need public money and if they did, the Abu Dhabi would just pay for it anyway. So maybe that and then they don't want to be seen to be giving the glazers money to refurbish it. You would think so but maybe I don't know. But it seems given old reference history and everything and what it means. I'm a bit surprised. Italy also bidding for Euros gav and also guess turkey, but it's time for 2032 to a turkey I've already put two back to back. Wow, okay. 42 years since you last hosted a big tournament. Of course, the World Cup in 1990. Which is why we have these wonderfully vintage stairs. So you did the fun thing to refurbish on this stage. Well, he was funny because Italy bid for 2012 in Poland Ukraine. And it was one of the worst bids in the world. They were so sure they were going to get it. Seriously, like the arrogance of the people running at the time, they said, oh, well, look, there's certainly not going to be Poland in Ukraine. And then of course it was. They lost that bid. And so that had to knock on effect where nobody spent money to refurbish stadiums because they said, oh, we'll get 2012. And then the government will pay for all of them. I hope that knowing they get in 2032 doesn't mean that other plans are going to be put on hold. So for example, Milan, one of the cities, they said, it may be the new sun seat or the new stadium that gets built somewhere. Yeah. Maybe one of the two new ones if you keep pretending, like they're going to go stay in too. But no, it's good. It's long overdue. 42 years. Come on. We went four world cups. New England women's team streak is over as they lose to Australia. Jules. 31 games. To be fair, I thought, against Brazil in the final simmer, the week before, they there were second best. I thought Brazil, especially in the second half for an amazing and should have won the game instead of the lady equalizer and then went to play in two pens. So I think it was, it was coming a little bit and Australia played well. And maybe it's not a bad thing. So close to the World Cup that this is like a warning sign, I think. So we know vigman said similar thing after the game. This is like, you know, do not rest on your lawyers. For example. The Premier League will stage 16 pre season tournament in the U.S. this summer. Money spinning tours rather than letting the clubs organize their own games and take all the money, let's do it with the league branding. It's a mix of clubs because you've got I was going to say, do we still count Chelsea is a big club? Yeah, come on. I'm going to go and order of how big I think their fan base in the years in the U.S.. I'll go Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Fulham, Brighton, and Brentford. I don't know how many American fans Brentford has. How many American owners, by the way? Villa villa. A Chelsea and Fulham. Yeah, they're going to play a bunch of games. I think it's the tweet is an experiment. They're not playing in gigantic states. So for example, games in New York are at the Red Bull arena. So on the east coast, isn't it? So on the east coast, I think this suits the clubs and let's see how it goes. The Jean Kevin augustin deal. It's amazing. We'll go down as one of the worst in the history of Leeds United. They lost one legal case, had to pay Leipzig €18 million, and now FIFA's dispute resolution chamber says they need to pay the player himself €27 million. I have no idea how they calculated that number. Jules. Remind us what this is all about. Yeah, so he's the 1920 season where Jean Kevin augustin, who used to be this one, the kids, when he was younger, PhD, kind of lost his way, but he's under contract. I Leipzig are Leipzig at the time. They loan him in January 2020 to lead who are in the championship at the time with bielsa. The loan in with an obligation to buy. Not an option to buy an obligation to buy for 18, I think at the time it was 21, 20 million Euros. It was €20 million. But not just an obligation to buy in case they get promoted. That's the way. So if you get promoted to the Premier League, you have to buy for 20 million and also in the contract is written that if they go up, they have to give Augusta a 5 year deal worth 90 K a week. Okay, the sign it, they agreed to it. They get promoted, albeit with the decision finishes later because of the pandemic with all of that. And let's say, look, the contract says June 30th. Yeah, I'm the season only actually ended in July 2020, right? Yeah, it was. Therefore, we don't have to pay you. In August and the only blade 48 minutes to us, we don't need you. So they're basically letting free and so we're not going to give you a new deal. We're not buying you to lifesaving life complaint augustan complains in our place for Basel. And they will have to pay so they've already paid, as we said, transfer, and they would have to pay. So

"For our best and worst of the weekend, Joker went for 35 20 and 11, his 27th triple double this season, but the nuggets lost to the nets and let's see James Harden. James Harden quietly has had a very good year. And he had 14 assists last night. So he said 31 games this season with at least ten assists in there. Quietly, had a good season there. Leading the league and assist. All right, fritzi just sent me a picture of Dylan dreyer. First submitted bracket in the celebrity bracket challenge Dylan dreyer first went in. What do you mean first one in? Of the celebrities that we invited to participate in filling out bracket sheets Dylan dreyer just in a little while. And she works NBC Today Show handles the weather does a number of other things, but mainly a meteorologist. You're very excited about it. I am actually very, very underrated and she's very sweet. It's very cool that she filled one out. How do you know she's sweet? I just get that impression. She gives up that vibe of being very common. No, she's a pretty woman. She's a professional professional broadcaster. Seems like she's a nice person. And she looks like she's sweet. And you know what? Maybe we're disparaging her right now, maybe she's probably. I've seen the people on it. I know, but Todd doesn't know she's sweet. I'm sure she's delightful. But there's people on air and reporters and stuff that give you that vibe of like I bet you that person up the air is a real pain there. Like who? I don't know because he wouldn't know some of these local people. But sometimes you see someone like, I don't know, I bet you that person is very difficult. Did you see Hugh Grant on the red carpet being interviewed? And first of all, I think they had one of those models Ashley Graham, she's a plus size model, swimsuit model, I guess. And she shouldn't be doing the interviews. Because it's difficult to be there and asking a couple of questions and trying to get in and out of this doing live TV. And he did not help her out at all. At all. And had an eye roll at the end of it. I'm like, come on, dude. You know? You can tell that she is nervous. She's struggling a little bit here. It could have helped her out a little bit. Let's see. Todd, best and worst of the weekend. All right, so the family started watching the beginning of the ACC title game between duke and Virginia Saturday night, went to a commercial. We flip around and we come across the 1982 movie tootsie with Dustin Hoffman. We end up my wife, my daughter and I end up watching it all the way through and had a lovely time watching it together. It was a nice Saturday night watching tootsie. I forgot what a cute movie that was. It's a great movie. That was my best of the weekend. Okay, and see how great my weekend was. And your worst. Friday night, the blazers had a 15 point lead in Philly. I watched almost all of this game. A nice road upset looks promising for game and company, wasted a 34 point effort by Anthony Simon's final score one 21 19 Philadelphia. See no Connor. I watched the movie with my it's not my best of the weekend though, but I watched a movie with my wife and son. Best in show. It's not my best on the weekend though, so sorry.

"They were missing for Charlie mcavoy. They were missing Brad marchand. They were missing Matt grizzly, Brandon Carlo was up for a while, and that span David creche was for a while in that span. You know, like injuries happen. You need to play what's put in front of you. The games that are in front of you. And I mean, how come Ottawa was able to beat Boston twice in the 31 games and almost everybody else couldn't beat them once. Right? So it's the games in front of you people. So we look at these 18 second set of beach and games and I put out at the start of it and said, would you be happy if the bruins went 12 6 and old in these next 18? And they're what 12 two and three or something like that, 13, two, and three. You know, so they're exactly where they were in the first 18 games minus three points. Depending on what happens today, I'm just wondering what excuse is going to be put up. And I'm not talking about fans. These are actual hockey media people that are talking putting some of this crap out there. So, you know, gold read the athletic or goal listen to the fan 5 90 in Toronto. When an actual fact, you should be listening to this podcast and get the real stuff. I was going to say, is it just the fact that the Canadians hate the bruins? Canadian, you know, media people just they hate the bruins, whether they going back to going back to Mike millbury or going back to Bobby Orr or I don't know, Steve. I really don't know because Jack Edwards. I honestly don't know what it is because the bruins actually have a very good following in Canada. You go to Atlanta, Canada, the bruins are huge, man. Yep. You know, I lived three years in Vancouver, British Columbia, and yeah, it's Vancouver country, but the number of bruins fans that are run into there. Unbelievable. I can tell you that the fans are spread throughout the country. So with the exception of leaf fans and canuck fans, it's not the fans that are saying it. It's the media. Even habs fans, you know, I respect Montreal Canadian fans, I have as much respect for them as anybody because they understand the game and whether they may not like it or not. They know that this bruins team is on a historical run and they're not going to put a crap out there about them because they're on it. They're going to respect them for it. That's right. Well, this has been a lot of fun, Mark. And DOM, it's great to finally have you on board and I find so fascinating and you're such a wealth of knowledge and information that has been so good to have you back. "Ringer. You can find them on the ringer gambling show there's a lot of basketball football stuff. Did pretty well on the ringer gambling show in the finals, better than I did. You were telling us under the last couple rounds. You were right. I mean the last couple games. You were right. That's what happens. Things get tight, sphincters get tight, the game plans get better, shot stop going in. Yeah, I mean, looking at both teams, they really struggled to score and a half court. And I think ultimately the difference was Steph Curry is the best player in the world right now. So, wait, did that result surprise you or did you leave game 6 thinking that was the right result? I think if they played their series over again, we'd probably get a 7 game series. I think game four was the deciding game. I mean, the Celtics up 91 86 score 6 points for the rest of the game. And I said to myself, I think I actually tweeted it out. I said this series is over. That's one of the series. Because I mean, I was actually on the Celtics. And I kind of got lucky because I planned on betting the Celtics to win this series, but you know my game 7 trend. It's held up so long. The self is one game one. So within winning game one, I couldn't come back on the south instead of better number. So that kind of saved me. So I was just betting game by game. But I just think game four just swung the series so much. And then you saw the Celtics bench really struggled. I mean, they had basically 5 guys. I mean, grant Williams, Derek white and Pritchard, they gave them nothing for the last three, four games of the season. Rahim, I just gotten over this. Why are you bringing this up to me? Oh wait, I brought it up. I'm sorry. Yeah, our bench died in Tatum died. And the red team won the words got better every game, and they just figured the Celtics out. And I'm still mad about it. We're going to talk about 2023 NBA. This is one of our burning questions because it's not just about the draft this week. We might see some trades, something might happen. The odds are out, was looking at FanDuel. And first of all, they've figured out the future odds. There's no value at all. Everybody's like 7 to one, 9 to one. And it just doesn't make sense. I don't think, especially in June, Tibet, like a team at 7 to one to win the finals. Do you agree with that or no? I think there's some value out there. Okay, tell me. For me, I'm looking at the Los Angeles Clippers. I mean, right now, when you look at this Los Angeles Clippers team, they're going to bring back Kawhi Leonard. This is a team who to meet a project to be top 5 offensively and defensively. Last year, Paul George only played 31 games. And they were still a top 5 defense. And when Paul George came back, the offense was rolling and then they also made some trades last year that I felt put them over the top. I mean, obviously made it deeper. Yeah, I mean, you got Robert Covington. You got Norman Powell. I mean, this is a wing factory. And what do you want in today's NBA? Other than your team, the Boston Celtics, there's nobody with better wins. So your brain Kawhi Leonard back to that. And I know it's tough to bank on a guy coming off of an ACL injury, but we've seen Kevin Durant. We seen Klay Thompson. I think koala will be fine. The one thing I don't like is I hear that they're thinking about trading for Kyrie Irving. I don't really like that because I think that's gonna mess up their depth. 7 50..

"Evan, we talked a lot. They needed to restock the special teams unit. They lost Brandon king. They lost Brandon bold at Nate ebner a couple years ago. Matthew slater is going to be on the way out soon. This guy, this is a guy that's going to fill that role. This guy's going to come in. I said that somebody last night. You saw the picture of what he looks like. He's got like the long hair and just the grizzly, this dude's going to cover the hell out of some kicks. Yeah, special team. Nate Abner ish, dare I say? A little bit of that in there. I think he's faster. I think he's more on the outside. Okay. He's somewhere between a gun or an interior player. I'm not exactly sure what his role will be. He might end up being gunner. Really interesting one. LeBron ray, Alabama, defensive lineman. Was he 6 5? Yeah, 6 5, two 82. Can play all along the defensive line, draftable talent. He just gets hurt too much. He played 31 games in 5 years of Alabama. He plays when he's on the field. If he stays healthy, they have a starting caliber player in the NFL. And if he doesn't stay healthy, easy or DFA, so be it. Yeah, heavy hands, two gap in defensive end, block out, shed, build a wall, right? Those are all the kind of cliches that I could use as a guy like LeBron ray and that's what they need. That's what they want. That's what they need at that position. And I think the one thing, look, the one part that I think in this draft in general, and this was going to kind of be my wrap up point. So maybe I'll hold off on it. All right, go ahead. Keep going with EDF is. Cody russie, center from Houston, transfer from Louisiana tech, 60 career starts in college, pretty much all at center. I think he started like two or three games at guard. Experienced offensive lineman. Love it. This dude's gonna be here back and forth from the practice squad in the roster for like ten years. Yeah, exactly. James ferrets love that. DeMarcus Mitchell defensive end from Purdue might be an outside linebacker. Really kind of wasn't on the radar till last year. I have the numbers here. 5 and a half years. Four and a half sacks. 45 sacks in 9 games. It's really all he's done. He does that much before that. He was a juco guy, but a player on the rise. I'll take that. That's a good look. How did you kind of watch him at all? I didn't get to say. Yeah, he's got a little bit of juice in the pass rush from what I've seen, right? I got a little bit of a first step. I think that, you know, they obviously feel pretty good about their linebacker group and their edge group, and that's why they didn't go their dress that in the draft. So maybe this guy is somebody that can bring some juice there in terms of upside. Liam Shanahan Marlboro mass native transferred from after three years at Harvard LSU 5 year starter. Again, versatility experience on.

"Like they're just bargain shopping. I do understand the Patriots. I do understand the patriot Sally cap. The Patriots salary cap is very much like the cash I have in my wallet. Like, oh, I have $20. I bought a coffee. That was $17. If I get two for sandwich, it's like, okay, now I'm done. There is no good news, everybody. We got tyron Matthew. And we were paying him $12 million a year. Like, oh, great. It just feels very, it feels very almost seems like it almost seems like the NFL salary cap is a credit card in college. That you can either go nuts with or be responsible with. And it seems like the Patriots are just super responsible. We don't want to do this. It could hurt us down the road. The part I don't get is, they have a quarterback on a rookie contract who's picked in the middle of the first round, which is the biggest asset you have. You have everybody else is like, Derek Carr. I don't know, $40 million a year extension, right? Every good team that they're competing against is paying somewhere between like 20 and 50 million for their quarterback. And the Pats have a quarterback probably making like three or four, and they're like. Two rich for our blood. I think I followed the salary cap guy on patriot Sally cap on Twitter. I like that one. And excellent. I think we're going to have a ton of money next year. Preseason. I don't like to be in the preseason talking about next year already. Two years. Back to the clippers. They didn't really from a salary standpoint, get crushed. The first two years. But this year's team, which went 42 and 40, Paul George played 31 games Kawhi played zero games. $166 million payroll. $83 million luxury tax bill. The team cost $249 million. I guess the bigger picture thing for the clippers, it wasn't just a gamble on winning the title. It was a gamble on trying to own basketball in LA. It was bombers belief that he could build an LA basketball team that could either rival or surpass the Lakers. Right down to the fact he's building this multi-billion dollar basketball arena in Inglewood because he doesn't want to be tied to Lakers in any way. He's going to, we're going to beat these guys. And they get Kawhi and they get Paul George, Kawhi made first team on VA last year. Paul George made 13. So two of the best 15 guys in the league. So I still think it's defensible. It's just kind of amazing how bad the luck was with the Kauai injury when it happened. To have somebody heard his ACL in round two of a playoff series that they're probably about to win. But then it's a 12 month injury and it brings it to the next so it's almost like you somehow lose two playoffs with the same injury, which is almost endeavor, I guess, has a little bit of this with Jamal Murray, but that to me, that gets into some weird clippers cursed shit, which I was writing about 2009 about pulling the team away from buffalo and all the weird shit that happened. This is among the weirdest thing that's happened to them. I love that you were a wonderful mix of in depth analysis and then just talking about curses..

"At the same time, they have a little bit of that vibe. Now where I'm like, is this because the calves are great and we've all loved watching them, or is there an element of this is another weird season, and this is like one of the consequences. I don't know. It's become I hate using this raise what I tweeted about this the other night. It's just disarray. It's chaos. They're like no conclusions to be drawn. I think, frankly, at this point, I'm just hoping all the teams are healthy in time for the playoffs because that's all that's going to matter. I mean, we go back to the heat, for example, like I was curious, like they put on a long road trip, they played 7 more road games than home games. And Jimmy bam and Kyle played at only 14 of their 31 games. And I just have no idea what to make of a team like that. None. Just none. It's impossible to draw a conclusion about that. And it's different for certain teams like the nets. There's like a level of continuity at least with their stars, the same with the box, like the bucks are incredible when Yanis Middleton and holiday play together. But so those teams are more confident in, but like the relatively tunings like Washington, Charlotte, Toronto, I have no idea what to make all those teams. Same with frankly, I think the Lakers a little bit now. Yeah man, it's upsetting because for the start of the season, I think the product was great. There was great parody in the league and it felt like we reached like a cool high marker of the regular season with that first kind of warrior suns game and it's been all downhill since then. Yeah, and. To your point, there's just so much talent in the NBA right now that the players who are absent are kind of an afterthought. Ben Simmons, Jamal Murray, Kawhi Leonard, Zion Williamson. These are some of the best players, most exciting players in recent NBA history, and them not being around. You'd still have a great time watching the league or watching leak past any given night and now it's just as you said, it's just very chaotic. It's hard to tell what is real and what is not as someone who is trying to figure these things out. I'll watch the bucks, how am I supposed to look at what the bucks net rating is as being impactful on how good or bad they actually are. I'll watch some of their games and I'm like, I literally don't know who just checked in to the game here for books. There was a player there's a player on the Lakers who I literally do not know his name. So I can't say it. I'm gonna be honest, I'm not even gonna look it up..

"It's going to be hard to play both Zack eaty together. If there's a big man tandem that I think can make it work, I wonder if it's them, even if it's not the ideal way that Purdue wants to play. Yeah, no, I get it. It all makes sense on paper to me. It's just what I look at that and it's kind of like, all right, I need to, I need to see Jade ivey. Go out there and be better than a 26% three point shooter, right? I need to go, I need to see Eric hunter be a guy that gets out there and is making the shots. And if they do it, trust me, I get it. I have them in my top ten. I know how good they are. It's just one of those things where it's like, if those shots aren't going down, all of a sudden that cork is really, really small, really, really quickly. Okay, number three, who is your national player of the year pick? I'll give a few more odds from our good friends at bet MGM. Drew Tam 6 to one palaban Kara 7 to 100 Dickinson 8 to one. Remmy Martin ate one, Chet holmgren 9 to one. Kofi coburn, ten to one. Oshea baji, Marcus car, calling Gillespie, Johnny juzang, 16 to one. JD Davison is 20 to one. Good lord. Jaden Gardner is 20 to one. Oh man, we're starting to get we're starting to get some aggressively bad numbers here, sorry, better than you guys. Can we talk about remmy Martin as the third favorite to be the national player? What are we doing here? Would you ever Remy Martin as a top 50 player in the country? I honestly like buying, I would not. I'm not a fan. Well, my answer is Robbie Martin playing is running Morton or his army Martin playing the way that it builds self point guard is going to be asked to play. And I think that those I don't think that those two things, like the Venn diagram of those two things are two separate circles, about 8 feet apart. So that's kind of where I'm at with it. I would not Remy Martin playing is remmy Martin is not a top 50 player in the country for me. He's going to put up numbers, but those are empty calories. He's lucky charms. I need a guy that's gonna be like a nice bowl of raisin bran or something. I don't know what that right there that reference is what happens when you have your kids by yourself all the entire weekend. Yeah, I was going to say that's a wild wild reference. I mean, look, I don't know where I was going with that. The easy pick here, I think is true to me. Like he's just gonna put up numbers. And they're gonna be good and they're gonna win 29 out of 31 games or whatever in the regular season..

Do you remember Denny McLain, by chance is high schooler. Yeah, he went to my caramel. He was a great great high school pitcher, And unfortunately, the white sacks instead of going with Danny McLean from Chicago, went with Bruce Howard, who had a mediocre career and Denny McLain, As you know, won 31 games in 1984, I think no, no 68 68 68. What am I saying? Yeah, 68 you know McLean. They made the World Series and won the World Series against the Cardinals, but we could have used them. Let's put it that way. "Like if I had an MVP ballot, I think he'd be, I think like around that four or five range like you know, Talk about philosophy and games played and stuff. But he's right there. And so Jonas has this reminds me of David Robinson. Doing greatest Peaks, where he had the momentum, he had the excitement. He didn't have a great team and yet at some point, once he hit a certain level scoring champ MVP, then the Olajuwon series happened and it's like poof David Robinson isn't that good anymore. Which, which I think is was kind of a crazy conclusion. Well, and in the case of Kauai to through his first 31 games, this year, he averaged twenty seven point five or six rebounds, five, assists in shot, 51-48 from the field. Like those first 31 games, he was probably one of the three best players in the league, like oh, certainly, like LeBron was there. Jokic was there. This was before Curry, like really caught fire this season. So I was right there with you early in the season. The problem is that the Clippers wage The pedal off the gas, right? Like in, that's normal like he didn't play. I want to say like he didn't play almost half of their last like, thirty thirty-five games wage and over that time the average like 20 to 7 and 5 and was similar in terms of shooting percentages, but it just didn't quite feel as impactful because in general, the boss took their foot off the gas, you know? Well we're here. There's one named. You didn't mention at the top, I'm curious about your take on him. Sometimes I say you mentioned sometimes not and then we can make our way back to yoga, Chicago speaks, but where are you on, Luca, and you mentioned Dame, Lillard, I think at fourth or fifth, on your ballot. But it seems to me that at least, at least instinctively or off at numbers. Luca, would be the guy there, instead of Dame for that. Kind of like, oh, if we're looking at this level of team and this level of player, where are you on? Luca? Yeah. You know I think them Happened with Luka. I was like, Oh, man, when this guy's gone, he he you know, he hoped he didn't leave anything behind cause he ever coming back, And now he's back. I'll say this. I liked his game now I made because I saw him against was a Kansas and the big in the Lead eight in the tourney have like some, like 13.11 Rebound, eight block game where you just was incredible. He's got huge town, but he's done some of the really the most. You know, questionable things on and off the floor. It seems like What do you What do you think? I mean, is this do you think they really give him a second chance? Or do you think this is just like as well? I mean, nothing. I don't know. But I look, everyone deserves a second chance. You everyone matures. Well, at least we tried to Um In. It's been a couple years now. So you know, maybe he has a new perspective on things. I think what happened with him? It was way too much way too quick, and he was not mature enough to handle it at all. He thought when they won their championship, and he was getting time. Yeah, I made it, baby. It's good in the end, Betsch am peon ships crushing Hennessy. And then just forgot to work have forgot to forget to do that you needed to do was work. Keep working and keep learning, and he stopped doing that. And maybe he's learned his lesson that damn I got smacked in the face pretty good there. I thought I had a good no 10 year career Coming more championships. We're good to go. Big contract. All kinds of stuff. Sugar plums and Oh, yes. Oh, damn. Diego forgot to work. And then all of a sudden, it just bump downhill, and I haven't really heard from sense. And now we've been bouncing around here there are catching on highly truck. So that's real Wizard's T wo s o, But you know what? Sometimes it takes a reality check, and it takes a few years for guys to get that reality check. So And let's be honest. I mean, it's not like they thought about getting him. Mid season. They're running short on players. So it's not like he Was first and foremost on their mind, right? It's like, okay, we're kind of getting desperate here through pre situation has him totally desperate right now. I mean, it's a big Who do we call? It was available. So who knows? I mean it look Is it a big deal? Not really. No, I don't. I don't think so. But mobile see what happens, But I will say I mean, he was he was. He was good Formerly. And then he was a mess. And but some guys, it takes him a little wilder. To figure things out. Some guys never figure things out and they're out of the league and you never hear from him again. Some guys, you know, kind of go through a little bit of a swollen and then they figure it out and they have the town to get him back in the league and give him a second chance. So If they do pick him up. We'll see if he's learned from his past mistakes. He thought it was gonna be easy. He didn't really face any adversity when he was that organ obviously didn't face in university when you left onto the warriors, and they were winning, and then with things got tough. He didn't have anywhere to go. And, you know, basically, they've got him. You know about surround with the dregs of the league. I wanted to flip over to Um what Jed York City. Larry mentioned it. Headlines that the Niners would be okay. If Lance set a year or two. That's the pull quote. Emphasis on The word too. You believe that? You believe they'd be okay if it took him two years. I believe it's I believe it's absolute. I believe Jed York has spoken out of turn many times, and I think this is not one of those times he this is the smart thing to say. Because to get compensation back for a player. You need to convince the other teams that you're going to keep Jimmy G. Not for them. Not for a minute. Not for a week, not for a month, not even for the year. If you really want to get something from him at some point on the trade market, it sounds like they do. You got to make people think that you're gonna keep him for the full two years, And I think also Jimmy's wants Every athlete just want the chance to compete. So like you gotta leave. Open the door that this guy Jimmy Garoppolo comes back, fired up in shape healthy and has a bang up year and the Niners go on and do great things in the playoffs. And then you know, then what you know, then, then, obviously you're gonna bring him back again or then you're gonna trade him so I think it's just a smart thing to say from the owner's perspective, anything other than we want to keep Jimmy for two years, I think is not doesn't go along with, you know, getting anything in compensation for the asset. Please break me from wrong doesn't this contract into the end of next year? He's got this year in one more year. There's one more year. Yeah, okay. You got two years left. They could get out of it, Rod Right now, Recent. Every talking about it now is because they could get out of all the guaranteed money is pretty much gone so they can get out of a fright. Two million or 2.4 million, like Josh catch at any point. Here's what you should be hoping is a 40 Niner fan muted hope. He never plays. We never played. That's kind of what I'm doing in Super Bowls every year, because that's the only way he wouldn't play. I mean, the only way he doesn't play is that they went Super Bowl. So if you have him for five years, and he never plays That means you just won five Super bowls in a row because as soon as they don't want to cripple, then he's gonna be your quarterback, either that year of the following year, But I mean, the great part about it is Hey, easier You're gonna have Lance. Or you're gonna win Super bowls..
