"We never been on ourselves. We never dealt with our trauma. We never developed a good enough relationship with ourselves to renegotiate and become confidence by keeping, you know, progressively larger and larger promises to ourselves. And eventually taking that risk to unlock what's possible are for ourselves. Are we more scared of that? Then we are of like, well, if I spend this money and it doesn't work out, I might have to have a hard conversation with my spouse and say, look, I took a gamble and we're going to need to downsize from 3000 ft² to 2000 ft². What the average person now, I mean, you talked about Maslow's hierarchy, and which is like, what is it? It's like, you know, first of all, you need like air and food and water. And then you need like shelter and so we're at that second level of like, I need shelter and a lot of people interpret that of like, I need a four bedroom house in the suburbs. If there have been a lot of other historical definitions of shelter, then like 3000 ft² with an $800 a month air conditioning Bill, you know? But like we've just gotten in our minds that like I can't, you know, I'm down there taking care of my needs when really I'm completely confused about the difference between a need and a want and a preference. Like I would prefer a four bedroom house in the suburbs, but I don't need it. And that could literally be the prison. The mortgage on that on that property and the fear that it surrounds it and the fear around even having the conversation with my spouse about reconsidering this choice for our lives, that could literally be the like glass coffin that surrounds you, your entire life and keeps you from every ever discovering what you could have done. And I see people reach their threshold because they're like, well, I don't want to risk this these belongings I have or what if I have to downsize in order to scale my business and we can talk all day about this, but you know one of my last thoughts is and you had we had talked about this on your podcast together is like I waited so long to scale up my lifestyle. I lived on such a small percentage of what our earnings were because I was always like, I'm putting this into growing skills, growing assets, growing my business, like playing the long game, and I do see people get very excited once the cash starts coming in and they want to immediately upgrade the lifestyle and what I notice is they get to that point where now they have to bring in enough money to accommodate their lifestyle and then they become very scarce with growing their business or investing in their business. And then they end up stalling out completely and they wonder why they're not growing anymore. It's like, well, glass ceiling. Here you go. You just created your own glass coffin. And by the way, I mean, I can only share from my experience. I'm not going to presume to know what other people are feeling. But I know for me that having my head down and making forward progress in my business is so fulfilling and so rewarding that my need for those external validations or trappings, it actually diminishes, like I

"Standing in was about 3000 ft² of turf. Not a sports field or a picnic area, just a decorative space dividing the parking lot. So molinari's department realized they could take the grass and its sprinklers out and no one would miss it. Which ultimately will result in approximately 330,000 gallons of water savings every year. These kinds of water saving opportunities across Scottsdale have helped the city's government cut water use 8% so far this year. The city announced water reduction goals about a year ago shortly after the federal government declared shortages on the Colorado River had gotten so bad. Southwest states would start facing cuts. The cuts don't affect Scottsdale's residential water supply yet, but Brian B smyer with Scottsdale's water department says the city wanted to act early. The condition on the Colorado is getting worse and it appears that it will get worse before it gets better. So we thought it was the right thing to do. These Myers department has asked individual users at homeowners associations to cut their use by 5%. So far, residential users are about halfway to that goal. But these my art wants the city to lead by example. They're upgrading faucets, in city buildings, and turning off some fountains around town, and Scottsdale is also looking at new options, like how the city manages its water mains. Sometimes water sits too long underground, and it needs to be flushed out to ensure what comes out of taps is clean. They'll typically go to a hydrant in the flesh thousands of gallons out of that vein to keep the water fresh and it just dumps on the ground. The city hired a New Mexico company to bring in a new technology that can filter that water and put it back. So far, beast mirror says that saved the city about 3 million gallons of water. That's a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the shortages in the Colorado rivers reservoirs. Still, Sarah Porter, director of the Kyle center for water policy at Arizona state university, says Scottsdale's 2.5% citywide reductions over the past several months are noteworthy. That's nothing to sneer at. But Porter points out only about 20% of Arizona's water goes to cities. We ought to be conserving, but we also need to keep in mind that the Colorado River issues go beyond turning the water off while we're brushing our teeth. She says cities are going to have to adapt in the years ahead. So while adjusting sprinklers or taking shorter showers won't end the drought, those actions can help local water managers. We're helping our city to stretch the water supplies the city has to cover more users. Beast Meyer says that was the idea behind activating Scottsdale's drought plan earlier than was absolutely necessary. We're hoping that by voluntary cutbacks now that alleviates the need for mandatory cutbacks in the future. Because for a city that relies on Colorado River water, the future looks a lot drier for NPR news, I'm Catherine Davis young in Scottsdale. Schools across the country nominated their athletes of the year last week. The University of Pennsylvania chose swimmer Leah Thomas for the NCAA woman of the year award. Thomas made headlines back in March when she became the first known transgender athlete to win an NCAA

No. Here he is from the landlady, the first deposit check written by Mark Zuckerberg for the lease of the house. Their rent was 5500 a month, so he gave him, he gave her two months rent. Nice handwriting, Mark. But she's got the autograph. I noticed she still has a check. That's good. Look at that. There's a beautiful sunroom at Casa de Facebook. Wow. Somehow, I don't think there was a lot of that going on to be honest with you. Look at that. Beautiful, beautiful home. There's the shower where Mark Zuckerberg bathed and first discovered shower shoes. That's good. There's a gazebo outback. That's fancy. Fancy house. Los altos are very nice area. And the movie there was a swimming pool. It doesn't look like there's actually one. Oh yeah, you're right. So much for the movie. See, I told you that movie was full of it. So yesterday I, uh I was the emcee of the scoring Chamber of Commerce, Hometown Heroes event And you know that they like you have everything you have silent auction prizes. Will somebody won a case of white claw and this kid? Be lines up to me with a marker. It says. Will you sign this? I said, Hell, yes. So I wrote Claude to your fall. Rocky Boy Woman. It was the best. It's just funny that anytime anybody sees white call, I got very good talking to Iraqis. Oh, man. Well, cheers. Cheers, My friend. Cheers to area and I'll toast you with my, uh, my Kool Aid over here. Oh, yeah, You're going. There you go. Delicious. Uh, so we're talking our topic de jure for movie Friday. Is, uh, documentaries. And I think this is a great one a year your call 749 7800 the big £1.700 on a T and T And I got this a an email from Greg Johnson in Maysville. My octopus teacher. Touching, beautiful. And inspiring. I never heard of it. But there sounds just weird enough where I'm intrigued. Yeah. Lot of octopuses garden, but not my octopuses teacher. So you want to start us out? You give one to give one of you. Okay? I got I got I already mentioned the Penelope is spirits thing. Right. So another good one is the documentary Grizzly man. Have you ever seen it? I know there was this guy named. What's his name? Jeff Tread, Um Timothy Treadwell, and he Goes on to Alaska every year, and he interacts with the bears. He's got hundreds and hundreds of hours of footage. And during the course of the documentary. It starts off like, okay, This is kind of a, you know a thing about the bears, but you quickly find out. This is a documentary about an insane person, And this guy has he's delusional that he thinks he's doing all these things to save these bears. And a lot of these Bears could give a damn if he's there or not, and spoiler alert. I was going to say at the end of the movie, it doesn't work out well for him. Okay, we've got to say I once what you mentioned that sort of thing about like. Hey, man, I remember hearing about this movie, It's It's not. The fascinate does not end well for grizzly man at all. Go figure not you're hanging out with grizzly bears Grizzly bears. Yeah, and again. It's not like they're like, appreciate of him and they're all this. They're just like kind of looking. I hit this annoying guy here and and one day I think they're got hungry and That was that. So that's a good one. And then free solo is on the better. Probably documents. I've watched it three times. That's when I was going to bring up if you've never seen this, this guy, Freehand climbs El Capitan. At Yosemite, and basically, that's a straight up rock. Cliff. I don't I forget how tall it is, but it's 3000 ft. It's pretty damn tall. I'm sure you've seen pictures of it. And he just does that with no ropes. No. Nothing. Hands feet up. Let's get on orders his name. Let's get to your calls. Let's talk to Joe and Sayler Park. Joe, What do you have? Hey, gentlemen. Good evening that the bear One is great Lord, forgive me. I remember one of the guys that they thought that their thought The guy was like crazy. The 75 man, Mike Dowd in early nineties is his cop of the New York and a bunch of cops in New York. We're getting indicted. Um, I don't want to spoil anything of it. I watched this documentary six times in the last three years. It's one of my little go to when I'm just border can't block it on something else, And that's the title of it. It's called the 75. What's unique about it is they talked to the drug dealers. They called to everybody that's involved in this and all of these people come clean. It's brilliant. You got to watch. It sucks You right in the guy's the man I'm looking at right now, man. That sounds really good. Yeah, Absolute maniac. Um, Enjoy your weekend, fellas. You know that Social dilemma One is pretty good, too. All right? Yes, I watch out. Thanks, buddy. Yeah, 75 looks pretty good. Well, what's that one about cause I remember hearing that I don't know. It's about social dilemma. I mean, our soldiers lonely. Yeah. That was about just how insane the Yeah, That was just one that just on recently or something. That was one network came out within the last year. The favorite. My favorite part about that is they talk to all these people who are the ones who invented all these apps on the stuff, and they're like, So do you Have your your kids using these? Although we would never let our our kids use these devices like okay, let's get this. Dan and Cheviot. What do you got? Dan? I like the men who built America. I've seen it on History Channel. Yeah, There's a bunch of those, right? Um, um, I've seen those two. Those are pretty good. Yeah, I like it. It it shows about like, you know, Vanderbilt and Carnegie and Chase and forward and all of them and how they like when they were young. They were like, Well, capitalism and you know, when they got old Dale got a little softer. You remind me of mayor growing up like My mom was a name and then my boy tells me all Grandma told me you shouldn't have been so mean. And I said, Hey, you don't remember You don't remember her. "What's it feel like when you're there from a terrain perspective, So it's very jagged. It's you know, anywhere in the Afghan east. You'll see great elevation things. They're very high up. But in Kunar nursed on, you see, just everything is very sharp, sharp angles sharp slopes in compared in comparison to kind of the more rolling plateaus you might see in some other parts of the East. Far farther south along the border. There is a there are very thin valley floors that are cultivated and this very lush green from the corn that people grow there on that's where a lot of the towns are. But then there are also towns that are really just clinging to the mountainside. In this very precarious looking way. As you go farther up the slopes and you'll see as you as you go up, you kind of passed through dry errand parts of the mountain side. And then you get up to these these huge forests with their enormous trees that have faced such a big role in the war. And what's the altitude of the peaks? They rise up toe 10 11 12,000 ft. The pesh Valley floor. Is that like 3000 ft. I'm not actually that high up. I mean, you don't sort of feel out of breath when you first Go up in the past the way you might in Paktika are some of the parts of the Afghan East. "Remember that magazine we used to get Ranger Rick? I'm that one. But it goes, it goes. That's the same people there on the wildlife and stuff, So it's kind of fun thing to do with it with your information. You know, kind of encouraged. Be part of that is so important, you know, pollinators. Um, natural pollinators like we'd like to talk about bees and wasps and hummingbirds. Digital flies count. Yep. Um, moth, you know, they 90% they do 90% of the pollinating. So if we don't have pollinators, we don't have food. So we need we need that. And then the caterpillars feed the birds, So I think sometimes we're our own worst enemies and where I was trying to kill everything off, Make everything clean. And you know, John Eisenhower is encouraging us to leave our yards natural that things grow lower. Um, you know, we don't have to annihilate everything and get rid of every last scrap a week of leaf drop, so we need to encourage those things. I don't know who decided flies count as a pollinator. I'm thinking the same. It's right here on this list. I was shocked when I saw that, actually. And I do agree. We You know, letting things and nature take its course in our yards and you know we could over control him, But I I'm not going to do anything to encourage more flies going by garbage container as he flies and I go pollinators must be because they hop around from thing to thing. And, you know, I don't think it's inning. I think they don't I think on the bottom of the totem pole for everything, including pollination. There's also a lot of resource is that you can go walk in public gardens, water use it wisely put together a list. I don't know this I got this printed and last December of locals here escaped guards that are open to the public. You can go walk through. And if you're looking and planning, you know a lot of things we try and go too fast. So we want it right now. It Z If you have a clean slate, or you're looking to completely redo your landscape. Ah, lot of times we picked plants based on how they look right now. Well. They look different each time of the year and it may not be something that we want our decided we don't like and going back and observing these natural gardens, you know, pick three or four local ones to you and go buy at the different critical times of the year. Maybe stop by once a month on your way home, and it was a last Friday of every month stop in and see. How they look at night. How they look during the day the different colors. What Insects What while life are in them. And started picking. Which one of these are your favorites? Because the list of native to Arizona plants isn't nearly as extensive as the list of desert adaptive plants, So there's you know, there's plenty of arid, I think, John says, one third off. And there's a number of varieties that you know come from all arid parts of the world that we have in our local botanical gardens. And these Zero types cape So You know what? What You see if you're just walking in different parts of the desert, you know there's a lot more variety to that and In the natural desert when you mean for whatever reason, as soon as you get to any kind of a slope, you start to see the plants immediately. Change you can be. You know the flat areas. You see a lot of creosote. You see a tree here. There. You see a subzero here there as soon as there's I mean, it could even be just a little tiny crop of rocks that naturally formed there. There's going to be something different growing on their well. We can make those same things grow in our yard. You can't bring in All types of things that naturally grow. My safety for seed head wound from a bad fall during the climb almost prevented her from completing it. There was a part of me that didn't want to Going, But there was this other part of me that just knew that I could do it and I deserved. I owed it to myself to try again. Carrington pushed through, making her way up nearly 3000 Ft of El Cap, one of the biggest, most iconic walls known the world over for its sheer size and difficulty. Harrington is only the fourth person ever to free climb the Golden Gate route in a single day. Using just her hands to grip ridges, sin his dimes and ropes only as a safety measure not to aid the climb. I feel like anybody could conceivably die on any given day Sport of rock climbing, made popular in the documentary Free Solo, which followed Alex Honnold as he successfully attempted the first free solo climb of El Capitan. Scaling the vertical rock face without any protection from a fall and scary honestly, a big part of the appeal is to be in this position that should be totally scary should be crazy, but to feel super comfortable. Honnold, a longtime friend and climbing partner of Harrington accompanied her on the first two thirds of her historic climb. Her fiance, Adrian Ballenger, joined her for the final section, climbing much of the sheer rock in the dark of the night, ultimately achieving what she calls an impossible dream, setting a new record and scaling her way to new Heights.
