"Won't use the SEC. They're the obvious deal breaker of a lot of this stuff right now, And I love the league. I love watching SEC football. It's the best Football league in the land bar. None. It's a great basketball league, etcetera, etcetera, But you know what? If If you want to just go go it alone, which I know that they don't really want to do that. They've got to find competition. I'm not interested in watching college football. If there's not going to be some alliances attached to Other universities giving you some competition. I'm just you know, I'll just like like you're talking about. I'll just go pro. Let's say if the did the same thing, and they said Okay, And they added, you know, eight other big 10 schools and sprinkling There's some big 12 schools or whatever the case may be, I'd be the same way. It's like I want to watch a C C. I want to watch sec I want to watch the big 10 and you want to see rivalries and all that stuff, so just they're about to blow this thing up. And they think that Oh, well, we're going to get all the money. We have the most eyeballs. Those eyeballs happened because of competition. Those eyeballs happened because, yes, there's still some outside influence. That you hope you get to play somebody else in that. Championship game, particularly when it comes to basketball. I mean, if the E, which used to be the best basketball league, it's not anymore, but you know, just said OK, we're going to take it and then add. You know another 68 teams and we're gonna have this power league or something like that. The United States wouldn't wouldn't watch that on a whole and both of them well, not football, but basketball. Is in significant drops in viewership the last several years. Yeah, Here's a little bit about what Herb ST had to say on the again that will be their world and the N C. Double way will be over here. I don't know That's what My concern is is not knowing what this will lead to and again. I just hate losing the tradition of the sport. I I just think I I've always been, I guess naive to it. I've always tried to be the guy that's like No, we're going to hold on to our traditions. People care about those traditions. They care about the rivalries. Clearly, the decision makers don't and we're now in an arms race, and it's about the money. He's exactly right. And I think that's he summed up everything I was thinking. So look, it's you know, you have to do what you have to do to survive because the SEC has already set the wheels in motion. And that's okay. And I don't fault these other conferences performing the alliance's. It's just kind of me and I'm only speaking to myself. I can't speak for anybody else, but I'm probably going to go. I mean, I'm still going to watch it. I'm still gonna and I'm gonna go to some games. Oh, yeah, I'm going to games, but I'm not going to be as dialed in as I was where I used to be gigged about Saturday mornings. Uh, yeah. Let's say that the SEC to your point, Scotty expanded. Right? Uh, even some more. Let's say that they took the best of the sea. They took Clemson. They took. Um uh, Miami and Florida State. Those are the three power schools and football, which they could Okay. At some point, you still only are going to have 30 teams. Let's say participating. In this, okay? All we have the best. The best players in America is 30 team that I don't wanna I don't watch it 13 College league. No, it's that makes any sense. So it does In what For me, At least what? What's changed from you know I used to. I told you, I've said on this show before that I stopped watching ESPN GameDay probably better part of five years ago. And I used to get up and used to love watching college game day and that's now been replaced. Now I get up on Sunday mornings, I get my cup of coffee. I'll say I do my draft kings and I love watching the NFL's Fantasy shows and I'll spend 23 hours in front of that before the game starts, so I've kind of shifted years. That doesn't mean that that's not the way the nation is going to go. I mean, SEC fans will continue to be dialed into their support. They love that so and again, you're going to have a generation of fans now that are coming up. This is all they're going to know when.

"Asked to sign a release and when you're asked to sign a release Later. If somebody is injured, they have an accident. Whatever these release has become important, And it's very, very complicated Law. You know You're right, Gary. It is very complicated line. It's something you have to worry about. Uh, you know, and you're asked to sign these release is the timing of when you're asked to sign. It can be very important and what the releases saying what the information says. You have competing interests to go on, and we're talking about agreements. They can be called Assumption of the risk agreements, contracts of adhesion, exculpatory agreements hold harmless agreements and emanate agreements, liability release forms. Free injury release release forms as somewhere along the right a waiver of rights waiver of liability somewhere along the line. You're probably going to be handed one of these things. As a matter of fact, when you go to some of the amusement parks. When you go to activities go into the All Star game going to different things. You're probably going to get some of these on the back of your ticket. When you when you look at your ticket to turn it over and read that fine print, which I think no one ever does, And yet they're going to be there And when they're they're they're going to have some significance. You can talk about the fact that Colorado will generally support waivers of liability connection with recreational activities. But at the same time, uh, it it that runs contrary to well established law in Colorado that agreements attempting to exculpate another parties or parties own negligence are disfavored. So how do you handle that way? You know, what are you doing it And what do you look at? What do you understand? Has to be there When you start talking about the potential responsibilities you have and you start talking about the potential rights you have. When you get hurt, you get hurt. I'll tell you what. Brad's probably gonna get mad at me but about this comment, and he doesn't like me to talk about his results, But he dedicated a few years back on a release, and they said they were going to pay a dime on the case. And the released was all encompassing. And so I kind of asked him joking between law partners. You know, I'm gonna win this one, and he did. And but there's a very complicated area law. So you know, it's summertime. You go to do these activities and Brad just was talking about some of these waivers. You're presented with a form. I mean, you're standing there with your family, Maybe your spouse, maybe your significant other Maybe your Children. They want to go on the ride. They want to go zip lining. They want to go. River rafting, right? You know, they want to go bungee jumping. They want to rent equipment. Rent a bicycle. Rent a motor scooter. They want to go hiking. Maybe jet skis, maybe organized activities. Maybe a boat ride. And it goes on and on and on. But then you're given a farm to sign. Are you going to read a nine page for him? A four page for him pre printed and you're going to understand it And you're not gonna go on the ride. You're not going to go in the activity unless you sign the form for you and your family. So there's all kinds of questions, you know, rock climbing accidents, but I think Brad One of the things people need to understand is there's a difference between recreational waivers and releases, recreational sports, recreational activities and commercial ones. And and that's a big difference because you know, and we're gonna try to get into in the show, but Uh, you know, do they? If they put a waiver on an airplane ride, you get an airplane That's not valid kind, And that's that's a different thing than a recreational. Um, right. So it's It's a big deal. But you got your family there. You're ready to go. And you know, Brad, you just mentioned something great about the All Star game. You know, mostly, tickets are digital these days, But in the old days, you had paper tickets. And if you turn them over, there's all these definitions. Your You know your They say, you're a licensee. Well, you're not. They say this. They say it's you release all your rights, but you just bought a ticket. So let's let's talk about this whole thing about it right, you know, and and the question is going to be whether or not when you bought the ticket and It's all that stuff you read terms of agreement or terms of cell or whatever. You'll have something on the digital cider, or I could said if you get a ticket is going to have something, But when you get it, there's always gonna be these these disclaimers in these terms. And, uh, for for the purchase churches that are going to apply, and when you do it you you when you buy the ticket, you've got to understand that you're waiving certain rights. You might have independent an injury, but whether or not you had those rights to begin With their still question because sometimes you're dealing with assumption of the risk when you go to a ball game. Are you assuming the risk that you can get hit, uh via a foul ball or buy a home run or ball that comes in the stands for some reason? Are you assuming the risk that you get hurt? Why somebody's diving for the ball or reaching for the ball and they reach over you? They reach around you or Are there running towards it in? And what risk? Are you waving? Where you when you signed the agreement to buy the ticket or when you signed the terms of agreement, and are those risks appropriate to be waived? Uh, you know, if you're what are their their 30 teams in baseball? I believe in there. But when you when you're dealing with the baseball and you go into 30 different stadiums, how far does the screen run off her foul ball lines? Are you protected from foul balls at all at certain stadiums are, you know do different stadiums have different screens and how far they run. And what's the standard in determining whether or not to begin with the ballpark or the ball team is is negligent in the way you put up screens in the way it's protected as people people Right? I think I think people need to understand what we see. A lot is people think that when they're going to in recreational activity with the family in the summer, whatever they think when they sign these releases. That they're kind of releasing things for an accident. But they think of the back of their minds because we've been through this many times that they're not releasing somebody for their negligence, injuring their family, injuring them. Member Dream members of the family. No, We just thought we were. We were releasing an accident with no fault. And then then the fight begins. Uh, so it's a complicated area, the area of the law, But you you can prevail but it is very detailed. And if you've been injured, you need to go through the details with attorneys. You know what they're doing? We got a break.

I mean, everybody, please replace everybody. How is nobody else getting tripped up on this? Because no one is 83 years old, and it's a guy again it and the play was difficult over the weekend, where he lost the ball. The play at the fans were fan reached over, but he was in the building for that, and still had no clue. So I mean anything's on the table. Sorry. I can't use age as a factor T war because al you got Al McCoy is calling the NBA Finals at 88. And Bob Bucher is calling a clean game, and he's in his mid to late eighties as well. So those guys are older than John, and they're calling crisp games. I don't know if we can use 83 years old to blame on on this anymore. What am I supposed to do? It's got. It's got to be in there a little bit, and I mean al McCoy, who is in the building and fairly close at this point. I don't even think he did road games that much during the regular season, probably for this reason specifically, but you've got to at least a little bit. Give John some sympathy here for being over 80 and even knowing what he's watching on any monitor in front of him, and, thankfully knew it was baseball here. Sorry, it's on the monitor. Here's what I give him credit for is that he still wants to do road games. Ugur is bailed out of road games. I don't know if Al McCoy this road games anymore, but most of these old guys say where I'm just going to do home games. John wants to do every game. "But he seemed to get it back and a very strong game. Eight strikeouts in what five and a third innings and this opened team if they score runs. This is A line and they're missing a couple of their key guys. Canha and Piscotty who are really are big time match against left handers in particular. And so maybe it was a good time to be out there. But as in general, they hit better against left handed pitching. So so I think that was a very good showing for him in that game, but also the the defense and they don't Make many mistakes. Maybe they don't have on the infield. Great range around the infield, but the the balls they get to they turn into outs. And and you can quantify this stuff now. With statcast. The Giants are turning ouch on balls on the ground on the infield into outs amongst the the best teams in baseball in that category, like fourth or fifth out of 30 teams in turning Ground balls into outs and the outfield. I saw numbers last night from sports info Solutions that they haven't a name for it, and it escapes me what the name is, but That 123 2nd period. Where the outfielder Gets a read on the ball and then really takes off after it. And you, Stransky and Duggar, in particular are very good at getting a quick read, and then they just covered tremendous ground. In going after a fly ball. And maybe that's one of the underappreciated things about just Rimsky is game. Maybe Giants fans know about it, and it's still kind of a secret for the rest of baseball. But Right now, when you look at if they have the sports info solutions has this thing. They'd defensive runs saved as a way of quantifying how good a guy is in the outfield, and Jastremski is right. In the top tier of all right fielders, So and Duggar the same thing out in center field, so and I think it's duggars and this is my own personal opinion. Hashtag. I m h O, uh, that the Duggar is right now, not just an outstanding often. I think he's better that his now that is hitting has gotten better. I think that one has gone with the other. We always have known that the defense is there for for Duggar, but I think that with that confidence in the bat There's increased confidence in the the field as well. Well, I'm a big advocate to move him up in the lineup. I think you should be hitting higher. I think he can handle it and do just what you said. Playing with a lot of confidence. Well, what you It's actually Tony is your mission statement? Go ahead. What is your take Briefly? Well, first of all, I'd like to shout out the Twitter account. Freezing cold takes, which is really a funny account to follow because they literally find the worst possible Tex and then post them on Twitter like, For instance, last night, the Sixers gagged big time They had a huge point, a huge like 18 point lead or The fourth quarter, and they found a video of the Sixers fan yelling into his own camera turned to his own phone. 18 points going into the fourth quarter. There's no way we're blowing this and he had a Mohawk and his face is painted. He's wearing a six years jersey Six months, baby. Yeah, just crazy. So why freezing cold Take is that I said Crawford is an average to below average hitter which I stand by. He's having a power surge this year, but it all started back in August of 2020 when um Crawford hit his 100th career home run. And Murph really was really, really exuberant and jubilant. And, uh, celebrant celebratory, um, for Crawford's milestone, and I'm sure it's a nice milestone, but I didn't think it was anything worth A huge celebration because I think me personally as a fan of baseball, I expect 10 home runs a year from from guys in the middle of my lineup. Um, so I was not surprised. You know, 100 home runs and I I applaud it, but no big thing to me. And then that turned into Oh, Tony hates Crawford Crawford the worst. Tony Crawford sucks, Tony. Miami Marlins Outbreak Wreaks Havoc on M.L.B. Schedule
"Major league baseball season got underway last week. But so far it's been rough. More than half of the act of Miami Marlins players and several coaches from the team have tested positive for the Corona virus. As a result, Marlins games have been postponed through at least Sunday. But despite concerns over additional outbreaks, Major League Baseball officials have so far balked at the idea of canceling this truncated season altogether. Here's MLB commissioner Rob Manfred discussing the Marlin situation on ESPN on Monday. I don't put this in the nightmare category. I mean, obviously, we don't want any player. To get exposed. It's not a positive thing, but I don't see it as a nightmare. We built the protocols to allow us to continue to play. That's why we have the expanded rosters. That's why we have the pool off additional players. And we think we can keep people safe and continue to play. I've got J. McManus with me. Now she's the director of the Maris Center for Sports Communication and a sports columnist for the New York Daily News, Jane Great to have you with us. Oh, thanks for having me it. The way that this developed was after a game in Sun on Sunday, where the Marlins were playing the Phillies before that game player had had tested positive for the Corona virus and the team of wanted to play that game anyway. And so I went ahead and played and of course, that Opens the door to exposure not just to the Marlins players, but also to the to the Phillies. And to anybody who's been working in that clubhouse. And so what you have, then is you know one test, turning into multiple tests in an outbreak and a team one of the 30 teams not being able to play going forward and quarantined in Philadelphia. Until they can figure out how to move this season forward

MLB's intake testing finds 58 players positive for coronavirus
"Major League baseball and the players unions. A 58 players and eight staff members tested positive for covert 19 through the final round of the intake screening process. That's a rate of 1.8%. MLB and the union announced the results as teams move closer to opening day July 23rd in the pandemic delayed season. They said 27 of the 30 teams had a person test positive. Players will now get tested every other day.
