Dean, we're talking what, 3 .3 % year over year here, 0 .3 % on a month -to -month basis here, and that's relatively in line with where we've been now for the last couple of months. I'm not sure if those numbers get hit right on the nose, I'm not sure it really changes the narrative at all. All right, we're getting the closing bells here in New York on this Monday afternoon here, and once again, a low volume day leading to what is two relatively unchanged markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is in the green on the day, but only by about a tenth of a percent, higher by roughly 49 points and change as we wait for these numbers to settle. The S &P 500 lower by about 3 to 4 points, or about a tenth of a percent, while the NASDAQ composite is going to finish the day lower by roughly 30 points, or about two tenths of a percent. And the Russell 2000 really emblematic here of just how tepid the price action was, unchanged on the day at 17 ,000 and change. All right, so tepid on the price action, you look at the S &P a little changed here lower. If you dig a little bit deeper though, a little bit of a negative tone in terms of the individual names, 307 to the downside, losing some ground in the Monday trade. Katie, 194 to the downside, so a little bit of a, like I said, a negative slant to unchanged in today's trade. Yeah, and you take a look at some of the industry groups, there's a lot of green, a lot of red, so it all washes out to about neutral, but you take a look at what did well today, and it's the autos group, but we know a lot of that is coming from Tesla, but nonetheless, that group higher by about 3 .6 percent. Healthcare equipment and services also having a good day, so too is energy. So those are your bright spots. You take a look at the bottom of the list, what isn't doing too well today from an industry group perspective. You have retail, real estate, you have tech hardware, and you have utilities leading losses.

Visit LegacyPMInvestments .com. That's LegacyPMInvestments .com. Welcome to The Eric Metaxas Show. Did you ever see the movie The Blob starring Steve McQueen? The blood curdling threat of The Blob. Well, way back when, Eric had a small part in that film, but they had to cut his scene because The Blob was supposed to eat him. But he kept spitting him out. Oh, the whole thing was just a disaster. Anyway, here's the guy who's not always that easy to digest. Eric Metaxas! Welcome to the show, folks, in the year of our Lord, 2023. I am still in Dallas. I can't explain it. I live in New York, yet I find myself in Dallas. Very happy to be here and happy to have as my guest for this hour, our friend Roger Stone. Roger, welcome back. Eric, it is always great to be with you. You're fun to talk to. That's like my greatest compliment because we can talk about very substantive things we do, but it's also fun to talk to you. I don't know where to start. How about if we start mocking tonight's debate? Can we do that? I think that's an excellent place to start because the debates for president who have declared against President Trump are debate might be, I will be down the street with President Donald J. Trump at a gigantic rally in Hialeah, Florida, which promises to be one of his biggest rallies of all time. Recent polls show, of course, that he is routing the sitting governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, right here in the state that both men call home. I feel very strongly, Eric, that it's time to end this charade. Trump is not leading by 10 points or 20 points or 30 points. He is leading in some places by as much as 60 points among the rank and file Republican primary and caucus goers across the country. This is his party. This is his nomination. This is his destiny. And these other candidates, frankly, are wasting time. They're wasting resources. And in the case of Governor DeSantis, he is now creating and providing talking points for Joe Biden in his harsh attacks on the man who single handedly is responsible for making him governor, which seems to me to be extraordinarily ungrateful at a minimum. I just want to put my cards on the table as a serious journalist, which I am not, that I am. Most people know that I'm a I'm a Nikki. I'm a Nikki Haley guy. And if you're if you look at the camera right now, folks, you can see that I'm a big I'm a big Nikki Haley guy. I believe in foreign wars. I believe in the deep state. And I just want to say I'm not down with this crazy mega stuff. In seriousness, all this the GOP debate tonight, I you know, it's hard for me not to mock it only because Trump is so far ahead in the polls. But you realize that what the people involved, maybe not all of them, but most of those on that debate stage are going to say is wait till Iowa. Wait till Iowa. Iowa is going to be a game changer. Oh, you'll see. You'll see. That's really. And you realize, Roger, that that genuinely speaking, they're they're hoping that everything changes and that there's going to be momentum that, you know, probably Governor DeSantis thinks that he will win in Iowa or do something to kind of change the narrative. I don't even remember. When does Iowa happen? When is one of the Iowa caucuses exactly? Iowa happens very early next year. But look, this is a situation in 1980 when I was for Ronald Reagan had a point lead in Iowa, but he took that lead for granted. He only visited a couple of times. He gave big picture, big event speeches. He didn't do much.

Let's walk through the numbers real quickly here as we await some of those earnings across the wire. The Dow Jones Industrial Average in the green on the day, up by about two hundred points or six tenths of a percent as we wait for these numbers to settle down just a bit. But the S &P 500 is going to finish higher by about 30 points or seven tenths of a percent, while the Nasdaq composite higher by about one hundred twenty one points or nine tenths of a percent, while the Russell 2000 closing out the day with a gain of about eight tenths of a percent. All right. We await those earnings. Quick check on the S &P 500. Three hundred forty six names. Scarlett higher in today's session. One hundred fifty five to the downside to unchanged. Yeah. And looking at the sector breakdown overwhelmingly to the upside, telecom utilities and autos leading the way. Telecom, of course, getting a big, huge lift from Verizon that grew up almost six percent on the downside. Energy tracking lower with oil prices, transportation and commercial and professional services all down. All right. So let's get to it. I mentioned Chinese names, definitely not performer in today's session. And we do have Microsoft. I'm thinking we should go right there. Yeah, let's go right to Microsoft. Those earnings crossing the wire right now, the headline number coming in here with revenue for that fiscal first quarter. Fifty six point five billion dollars. A slight beat over street estimates of fifty four point five. EPS for the quarter coming in at two dollars and ninety nine cents. "That's what actually blows my mind about all this stuff, how they just let them get away with it. And this is obvious, right? It's funny when Bernie Madoff got busted, a lot of folks came, Oh, this person figured it out and that person figured it out. Let me tell you something that's not that hard to do. It's really not that hard to do. Alrighty, welcome back. Mike Lomas, Glen Wiggle Financial guys, Ron Ridenstine in the studio for Glen. Glen actually sneaking out, to go to a chiropractor. He's having some big issues. So, uh, that's important. Yeah. Yeah. So he was in some rough shape and, uh, the only time the chiropractor could fit him in is the time we had scheduled for this, but, uh, but he'll be back on Saturday. Maybe not Saturday. No. Saturday is Sparaza Hayflick. I'm looking at him, Sparaza Hayflick. So, uh, so that's awesome. He'll be back. Yeah, he'll be back. He'll be back. Like a Buffalo Bill injured reserve, but he'll be back. Let's hope that was, that was brutal by the way. All those bills getting hurt. What I don't understand is all the money they spend on that league and they're all playing on the crappiest of fields and they don't care. Yeah. Like, I mean, where's their, where's their union? Yeah. Where's their union to say, well, you do not want to play on, I mean, the way this turf is made, remember Astroturf back in the day, it was like an inch thick. Yeah. And I mean, you literally are playing on concrete and I mean, guys got injured. Yep. I don't know. I mean, I guess I'm going back in time, but it didn't seem as much of a rate as you're seeing right now. Yeah, no, no. And it's all these poles and tears and it's not, you know, you're going to get broken bones. I mean, that's going to happen. You're going to get hit and you're going to get hit hard, but not the tears and the twisting. And so, yeah. Well, I, I'm convinced that that somebody in the heavens does not like the Buffalo sports because between bills and sabers, well the season hasn't started yet with the sabers. That's not jinx it yet. There is nothing, I don't even believe in drinks as anymore. Like I've worn all the jerseys I've, I've sat in the same spot where we won and I like it. It's just, it's Buffalo. It's like, it's like, we just don't win. And every time we get a team together, I will say, like I think sad Sunday that I can blame it on the offensive coordinator. I think it was pitiful. I mean, there's just zero creativity in that office and an offense that has probably the best talent in the league. And I mean, there's nothing, no reverses, no sweeps, no, I mean nothing, nothing. I'm watching. If watch you like Kansas city, they are so creative. And this is not rocket science. I'm not asking them to build a nuclear bomb. I'm just asking them to be creative and not hand the ball off for the first five series on first intent. Like throw the ball once in a while, right? Or set up a screen or how about play action? Oh my God. Hey, cook up the middle law. There's a shocker. It's like, Oh, it's so frustrating. So frustrated. JV coach could have called that game. That's here. Here, Alan, the plays that we make, by the way, and he is exceptional is he scrambles like a fool and turn stuff into something. I just, I just can't help but think if we had somebody a little bit more creative that, that that game would be very different, right? Because first of all, we're holding the ball, they don't have the ball. Second of all, we're probably scoring an extra touchdown, which puts us over the mix. So I don't know. There's only so many businesses. There's only so many three and outs you're going to have before your defense is going to get gas. Yeah, for sure. Which they did. They did. And they did a good job actually. Should've should've been a no brainer to put up 30 points against them. But you know what? We can't run every business. I mean, I can't be, I can't be coach and run the financial guys and do all these podcasts and radios. Be a dad. I mean, all that stuff. So there's only so many hours in a day. Yeah. Uh, let's play a video here, by the way, a lot of activity, obviously overseas, what a shame, you know, another Muslim extremist terrorist group Hamas. Uh, and I, you know, I'm hearing all these, well, they've got to defend themselves. You know, uh, maybe I would believe a little bit of that if they targeted like a military base or something like that, not civilians, not civilian. And not only are they targeting civilians, you go into a music festival, you wipe up people. Now we're finding out that they actually cut the heads off of babies. I mean, these people are disgusting animals. They're animals and they need to be addressed. I mean, first of all, all the money and the resources that we waste around the world and we should be focused on the real problem, which is Muslim extremists in many of these, but it's amazing that all the policy follies over the last, I don't know, 70 decades in the middle East that we've made it a complete just shithole and yet they want to keep throwing money at it. And all these just losers in Washington, you know, when we role play this at Harvard, this is how it worked out when it was at Yale. Well, no, if we did it this way and that way, like they will control their oil. I mean, no, we'll give them democracy and everything's going to be solved. Well, to your point, and what I don't understand is that the easy way to fix a lot of this is through economic strength, right? I mean, first of all, we increase our oil supply immediately, immediately. We're making Iran rich or, you know, with a hundred dollars a barrel. We're making Russia rich. You know, they're selling the field of Europe. What do you mean there's sanctions in at work? Is Russia had a record amount of GDP or will have a record amount of GDP? Unbelievable how absolutely uneducated this, this Democrat party is. You almost got to say, ask yourself, I mean, are they doing it on purpose? Right? Is this because you can't be this stupid? You cannot be this dumb. No, communists aren't stupid. Right? Communists aren't stupid. They know what the hell they're doing. Yeah. It's just the rest of the people that follow behind them. Yeah. And they're like, what are you talking about? No, this stuff's going to work. Everything's great. Communism. You know, this one's different. I know that I'm spending twice at the supermarket, but it's all because of it's all because of Putin. Yeah, sure. Sure it is. Yeah. You know, all we need to do is increase oil supply. Watch our fuel go down to a buck, something in gallon, figure out ways to now sell it to Europe. And, and it solves much of these problems. The other thing too is now there's another pipeline that went out, you know, they've just happened to have some sabotage to yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. Unreal. Unreal. Let's play a video though. This is what Joe Biden and his team is worried about. That the United States has now involved in wars that are taking place in Europe and also in the Middle East. I want to play this soundbite for you. That is just last month in Vietnam and ask you if this still holds for the president. Watch.

And context changes everything. Go to Bloomberg .com to get context. Banks, but certainly when you get to the other names, you'll find out just how much inflation is biting and just how much they've been able to push back on it by passing on some of those things to consumers. Let's walk through the numbers here as we get the closing bells here on this Monday afternoon. A day that started with most of the major indices deep into the red, turning into a day where most of the major indices solidly in the green. A Dow Jones Industrial Average up of roughly 190 points, or about six tenths of a percent. An S &P 500 up almost 30 points, or about six tenths of a percent. The NASDAQ Composite higher by more than 50 points, or about four tenths of a percent. While the Russell 2000, putting in a pretty decent showing today, a six tenths of a percent gain here for the small cap index. All right, we're going to get into the major industry groups in just a moment. But looking at the S &P 500, most of the names in the index, 351 to be exact, higher for the Monday trade, 147 to the downside. And Scarlett, we've got about five unchanged here. Yeah, let's take a look at the sector performances as well. If you split the S &P 500 up into two dozen industry groups, energy stocks leading the way up three and a half percent with all members, all 23 big cap energy names in the green. Capital goods, Romain mentioned defense companies. Those are the defense companies that's pushing up that sub index. And telecom services up by one point seven percent. On the flip side, the decliners include household and personal products or traditional defensive groups and chip makers off by four tenths of a percent. But these are fairly small losses in contrast to the gains among the best performers. All right, guys, let's get to some of the individual gainers for the Monday trade. And certainly this has to do, I kind of did a split here. These are certainly names that are moving on that attack into Israel.

Romain One Point Monday Six Tenths Of A Percent More Than 50 Points Today Israel About Six Tenths Of A Percent About Four Tenths Of A Percent Two Dozen Industry Groups Bloomberg 147 Four Tenths Of A Percent Almost 30 Points Three And A Half Percent Nasdaq Composite 23 Big Cap Energy Names 351 Seven Percent This Monday Afternoon

I have Kyle Brandt coming on Monday's podcast. I'm just gonna tell you the movie now because it is gonna be the best moment of your weekend if you spent two hours watching this classic. We're doing Toy Soldiers. It really brings everything possible to the table. So if you wanna watch it ahead of time, there it is. That podcast is going up Monday night. If you wanna hear stuff about the debate, we have Tara Paul and Mary's podcast, Somebody's Gotta Win. That reacted to it as well as the press box with Brian Curtis and David Shoemaker. So there you go. Our debate coverage has been on point. Also, higher learning. Van and Rachel had Larry Elder on this weekend. It made a lot of noise, man. That podcast is great. I hope you check that out as well. Hope you're checking out theringer .com. And on this podcast, gonna talk about the dame trade at the top. We're gonna bring in Ben Thompson from the Techery newsletter, which he's been on this podcast I think four weeks ago. And he's a huge Bucks fan. He's gonna give the Bucks fan side of things. We're gonna do million dollar picks. And then old friend Seth Meyers talking about a whole bunch of stuff. So really good podcast. It's all next. First, our friends from Pro Jam. What's up? All right, I'm taping this on Thursday afternoon. Normally when there's a big MBA trade, I always do the emergency trade reaction right after the podcast. But we just put up a podcast on Tuesday. So I decided to play it a little differently this time. I wanted a little distance, I wanted to listen to stuff, read stuff, and try to form some big picture opinions coming out of this. So I have four smaller ones, then one big one. First one, I thought Portland did an incredible job with this trade. I really liked this trade, especially everyone was trying to bully them in June and July about, oh, you got to take Miami's offer. You just got to. It's where he wants to go. It's the only offer you're going to get. And guess what? They waited. They played it perfectly. They stared Miami down, and they got a much better deal. First of all, they get the Drew Holiday piece that they can flip into a bunch out of their stuff, which we'll talk about in one second. I love the DeAndre Ayton gamble. As you know, on this podcast, I am a big DeAndre Ayton guy. Not in the sense of I'm the biggest fan of his in the world, but I'm a fan of the asset. I just think I love the valued assets, no matter what it is. Whatever market we're talking about, DeAndre Ayton, 18 and 10 for his career, 60 % field goals percentage, 25 years old. He's played in 45 playoff games. He played four rounds in the 2021 finals. Last year, he got his ass kicked by Jokic. Oh, sorry. Like, that never happens. And Phoenix just sold on him, which I can't wait to talk about. But just from a Portland standpoint, they not only get Ayton in whatever they get for holiday, they get the 29 first, they get the two swaps, and they dump Nurkic. Nurkic hasn't had a healthy start to finish all the way through the playoffs here since 2018, which I'm positive was a long time ago. He's basically 12 and 8. He's, you know, a 50 % shooter. I made a list of the top 30 centers. I encourage you to do this at home, because what's more fun than making lists of NBA centers? I can't imagine anything. I made a list of who I thought were the best assets of the center position for talent, contract, everything. He was 29th on my list. The only person I had ahead of him who's technically a starter, unless you start talking about the Detroit or Charlotte guys, was Zubats on the Clippers. I thought he was the 29th best center asset in the league. And Phoenix, you know, just quickly to go to them, they're trying to win this year. They got worse. They turned Ayton's money into Nurkic and Grayson Allen and Nasir Little. Grayson Allen, we already know with him, he can't play in playoff series. We saw him 22. We saw it last year. I heard and read in some places like that, I got two rotation players. Did they? Is Nurkic a playoff rotation player? Is Grayson Allen a playoff rotation player? Because I'm positive he's not. So for the same money that they were spending on Ayton, they got three guys that I don't think are going to help them. In 25, the money comes down a little bit to 23 million just for Nurkic and Little, which is 7 million less than Ayton. And then in 26, that money goes up to 25 .5. But I don't understand what Phoenix was doing. Why not wait to see if Ayton clicks with Vogel? Vogel has such a good history with centers. He rejuvenated Dwight Howard on the 2020 Lakers. He basically created Roy Hibbert's career in 2013 with the defense verticality thing. I thought he was going to do a good job with Ayton. I'm stunned that they gave up on him. I'm almost waiting for one of those, now they tell us stories when, you know, that's where Brian Curtis calls them, where like a week after something happens, there's this kind of notebook dump where it's like, here's seven terrible DeAndre Ayton stories. So maybe that'll happen. But for Phoenix just to be like, cool, we locked this down, man. We got Nurkic. You're trying to win the title. You have KD and Booker and Beal. And like, what are you guys doing? Anyway, from Portland's standpoint, I love the Ayton thing. I love that they didn't get bullied. And I know they're going to turn Drew Holliday into something. So this to me was at least an A minus for them, for where they were two months ago, where Dave's like, I want to go to Miami. That's it. And if you don't trade me there, that's kind of fucked up. And they made this work as it got reported that, uh, I think in the athletic, that he expanded his list to Brooklyn and to Milwaukee in the last two weeks. And that's what Portland was waiting on. You know, they were banking on the fact that he's a competitive dude. He's one of the best 75 pairs ever. He wanted a situation settled. So, you know, you wait, you wait, you wait, they expand the list and then you go. Uh, there's a Drew Holliday piece to this. That's awesome. He becomes a contender prize. I wouldn't call this a Drew Holliday sweepstakes. I reserved sweepstakes for the superstars, but it's a mini sweepstakes. This is somebody that could have a huge impact on the playoff race. You know, not only the usual suspects, everybody's talking about Boston, ironically, Miami is a really good fit for him. And in some ways, um, I'm a little more scared of them with Miami than Dame in some ways, especially at a much cheaper contract with giving up less and keeping some of their assets. Philly, if they could pull it off, they have to be in there in Golden State, Minnesota. I think I have to mention Sacramento, I think is a team that if they could figure out how to get Drew without giving up their core, which is basically Keegan Murray and Sabonis and Fox, like that's, you know, could Davion Mitchell be in that trade with some, with a salary and some picks, who knows. The team that I love for Drew Holliday is OKC. I have OKC, you know, I started doing my MBA research for the over -under spot and I haven't landed on a number for them yet, but to me, they feel like a high forties team with Chet and with the growth of their young guys. And if you just like, let's say they traded Lou Dort and a bunch of their picks, maybe two firsts and two of their lesser picks or three firsts and a second, whatever it is. And they just say, fuck it. And they get Drew and you put him with Giddy and SGA and Jalen fucking awesome Williams and Chet Holmgren and all these other dudes they have, that might be a top three team in the West. I mean, that, that's starting to give me some early 2010s OKC vibes. So where he goes is going to be important. I just feel like there was so much Drew Holliday slander the last couple of days. You know, he's one of my favorite players. Even Haralabob, who was the chairman of the board of the Drew Holliday fan club for years and would have the benefit dinners there and, you know, just did a lot of yeoman's work on that front. And even he was like, yeah, yeah, Dame's better than Drew. That trade makes sense for Milwaukee. I was hurt, Haralabob. I was 100 % hurt by that. But you know, Drew got his ass kicked by Jimmy Butler in the playoffs last year. I get it. It happens. Jimmy was unbelievable. I feel like he would have kicked anybody's ass. By the way, why is Drew Holliday guarding Jimmy Butler? That speaks more to some of the issues with Milwaukee. He was never supposed to be a point guard and a creator. I think he was always better as an off -the -ball guy. We saw that with Rondo and New Orleans and just in general. I want to see him with a point guard. I want to see him just being unleashed, not having the ball a lot, just worrying about hitting threes, being an occasional, you know, make -shit -happen guy and being like the third or fourth best guy on a team without having the offensive responsibility to have. All their half court issues got blamed on him for the last couple of years. And I get it. They weren't like an awesome half -court team, even the other one in the finals, but I really value that dude. I had him, even I did the trade value list in August and I had him 37th and I had Dame 23rd. I think he's one of the best 30 players in the league still. He's 33 years old, which, you know, I'm going to talk in a second about when guards hit their mid -30s, but just in general, I think he's a real asset. If he goes to a team like the Celtics and they can keep Derek White and Tatum and Brown in the center, it's like, look out, man. So little mini sweepstakes, rarely do we get the trade, but then we still get another asset to talk about. Thank you for everyone involved in the trade. And then the fourth small point is just that, you know, not rocket science, Milwaukee bought some Giannis time here. They have one of the best 20 players of all time. They were staring down the barrel of a situation that was not good. I was talking about it on this podcast in late June and early July. I thought he was going to put them on the clock. I thought Mark Lasry selling his stake was a really bad sign for all of this because that dude is smart. As I laid out in June, that guy is really smart. And if he's feeling like, you know what, it's time for me to sell my buck stock, that makes me nervous. And then all the stuff that Giannis said and did, which I thought he did really fairly and really smartly. And I think that dude's about titles and that's it. And I know we say that about players, but I think in his case, I don't think he cares about, you know, what's my legacy, how do I compare against Dirk DeWhisky, any of that stuff. I just think he wants more rings. I mean, think about the guys who have won two rings out of the best 35 guys on my list of my pyramid. Those are all guys in my top 35 that won multiple wings. You go to the one -ring side, Jerry West, Oscar, Moses, Dirk, Jokic, Giannis, Pettit, Garnett, Kawhi, Rick Barry. That's the list he's on now. I certainly don't think he's looking at that list going, I got to get away from these guys, but it's a slightly different list. I think when you win multiple rings in multiple situations, it elevates you in a certain way. I think he fundamentally understands that at least a little bit. I want to be the best player since LeBron James. I think that's a thing that he wants. How am I going to do that? I need more rings. I need more finals trips. He knew from last year and maybe even the Boston series that they just weren't good enough. Whether this trade is going to be the thing that propels them, we'll find out, but he's been in the league 10 years, two MVPs, five first teams, two second teams, and now we have this little two -year window. Kawhi and the Raptors was a one -year window. This is a two -year window, I feel like. With Giannis, he's got two years left in his deals. So does Lopez. Middleton has two in a player option. Dame's got two, and then this crazy $120 million player option extension thingy that he has that just keeps going and going. It's probably two years. There's a world where this could go terribly this season, at least for what the expectations are, and then maybe it becomes Kawhi, Raptors. Maybe Giannis is like, you know what? That didn't work. Trade me. And the Bucks, who have no picks left and no future, they look at it next summer, and they go, all right. We tried it. Giannis, what can we get for you? Dame, what can we get? And they just do a reboot, rehaul. Remember, they won in 2021, which just takes so much pressure out of this. It's so much different than the Clippers situation, where they went all in on Kawhi and Paul George. They give up all those picks and SGA, and they've gotten nothing out of it. They haven't even made the finals. So it's got to happen. I think they at least probably have to make the finals. If they get bounced in round two, do I think Giannis is going to stay because they made this Dame -Mower trade? Probably not. So that leads to the big question, is how good of a trade was this? So there's a big picture angle on Dame, and it's going to sound negative, but I really don't want it to sound negative because I think Dame, I voted for him for NBA Top 75. I think he's been one of the best guards in the last 15 years. I think there's a ton of great things you can say, and there's a chance that he goes to Milwaukee, and this thing is fucking awesome. I know any Celtic fan I've talked to, including Isaiah, who's helping produce this podcast today, the Giannis -Dame pick and roll is just terrifying. Other than Jokic and Murray, it's going to be the single most unstoppable offensive play in the league. It is. We are conceding that point. The spot Dame is in right now, big picture -wise, it's weird. He's a superstar, but he's not, and we've seen guys like this before. I judge superstars by, do you have the resume statistically, and is your team succeeding consistently at a certain level? You can't totally say that about Dame. He's never been on a 55 -win team. He's missed the playoffs completely four times in 11 years. He said three first -round exits. He made the Final Four once in 2019, which was really lucky because Golden State and Houston were the two best teams, and then they got smoked. He's never been on a true contender ever. Instinctively, you go, well, that's not his fault. Who's he played with? Well, he played with LaMarcus Aldridge and CJ McCollum and a couple other guys, but not really anybody. The reason I'm putting this up is there's a success element that he has not had yet that for somebody with his resume is actually kind of unusual. I went and I looked up how many guards in the history of the league averaged 22 points a game for their career and played at least 700 games. I thought the list would be like 20. I didn't know. I didn't know what I was walking into. Only I think 75 guys have averaged 22 a game. So I went and I looked up the list, and it was 10 guys, 700 games, 22 a game for their career. There were some guys who came close like David Thompson, who I think is one of the best guards I've seen in the last 45 years, but had a short career and had some drug issues. He didn't make it. He didn't play enough games. Pete Maravich, 24 .2 points a game, but he didn't play enough games. Kyrie hasn't played enough games yet. Bradley Beale is five games away. I'm actually kind of glad the cutoff's at 700 so we don't have to talk about him. And then Mitchell and Trey Young aren't there yet. There's only 10 guys that made it, and the 10 guys are all fucking awesome. And again, I mentioned this in the context of Dame, who we think he is versus the success he's had. So the 10 guys, Michael Jordan, 30 .1, Jerry West, 27 .1, Allen Averson, 26 .7, George Gervin, 26 .2, Oscar Robertson, 25 .7, Kobe, 25 .0, Harden, 24 .7, Curry, 24 .6, Wade, 22, barely made it, and Russ, 22 .4, and then Dame is at 25 again. All right, what does he not have that those other guys have? Well, MJ, don't need to talk about him. Don't need to talk about Jerry West, who's the freaking logo. Allen Averson, pretty good comparison, right? Big stats, really memorable player, but not a ton of success. Here's the difference. Averson made the finals once. He won an MVP. Dame has done neither of those things. George Gervin was the best scoring guard of the 70s. He made two final fours. He had some bad luck. He really, in 79, really should have came close. And some of it's on him, right? He could have come through. Bobby Dandridge is the one that ended up coming through for the Bullets. They lose. But two final fours, he had four top five MVP finishes, five first teams, four second teams. He was just unassailably the best guard in the league until MJ. Oscar Robertson, don't need to go through him, but he won a ring and an MVP. Kobe, five rings and an MVP. Eleven first teams for Kobe, by the way. James Harden, three final fours, an MVP, six top five MVP finishes, six first team MBAs. And even though Harden has never made the finals as the best guy, he made it with OKC as the sixth man, you could build a contender around Harden. We saw it. We haven't really seen it with Dame. I think that's a fair thing to bring up. Curry, four rings, two MVPs, you know, the Curry thing. Dwayne Wade, three rings, two top five MVPs, two first teams, three second teams. He's more in the Dame waters a little bit, but he had the 2006 finals and he was the second best guy with LeBron on those heat teams. And then Westbrook, who you would say, well, Dame had a better career than Westbrook. Did he? Westbrook made the finals in 2012. He was second best guy on that team. Almost made the finals in 2016. He won an MVP. He had two first teams and five second teams. It's at least like a real argument. And I think when you look at Dame, he only had that one 2019 round three, got bounced. He's only had one top five MVP finish. He's only had one first team MBA and four second team MBAs. Really, really good top 75 career. But the piece that's missing is, have you been on a really good team? Have you made a real run at it? Which is why, you know, I think this Milwaukee trade is so much fun. This is his real chance. I get nervous about a couple things with this trade. One is that, you know, if you look at the 33 and older guards who average 22 points a game in a season. Jordan did it twice. Curry did it twice. Still going. Kobe did it three times. Jerry West twice. Sam Jones once. Hal Greer once. That's the entire list. Now the NBA is different. We have more three -pointers now. It's easier to score. Scoring is the easiest it's ever been. Guys can play at a longer age. So I'm not ruling out Dane being good for the next three years. But just pointing out, history is saying, be a little nervous. In general with guards, like Chris Paul, we saw from age 35 to 36 to 37, like it just dropped. But that's two years older than Dane. Maybe it's fine. I just worry about guards. We have not a lot of instances with guards in their mid -30s of them either peaking as players or being able to sustain whatever success they had during their prime. It always starts to go down with really no exceptions, except for Steph Curry. He's the only non -exception. So if your case is Dane's as good as Steph Curry, or Dane can be as potent as Steph Curry on a winning team, like, you know, Steph Curry is better than Dane, but I'm not going to argue that he couldn't do a lot of the stuff that Curry did in Golden State. The bigger issue for me, the age I'm definitely worried about. Dane has not been healthy the last couple of years, and we have not seen him play nine straight months at playoff basketball with a big bullseye on his back. Everybody coming after you, you're the best team. We haven't seen him do that ever, much less than the last couple of seasons. So can he stay up? Can he stay healthy? That's one thing. The defense with Dane just got kind of swept under the rug the last couple days, and I don't really understand it because there's five categories of defensive player I feel like. There's excellent, there's good, there's average, there's not so good, and then there's bad. And I think Dane's a bad defender. I think the stats back it up. Like, his defensive rating last year was 245 out of the guards. He's the 245th guard for defensive rating. You know, 117 .4 individual defensive rating is 483 overall. Portland's team's always defensively, it was the Achilles heel for them. Partly because of Dane, because he couldn't guard anybody. He's too small. And, you know, think about what we saw from the playoffs the last couple years. I think about the 2020 bubble Celtics playoffs, not infrequently, because I think that team had a chance to potentially win a title. What happened? Everyone hunted Kemba Walker. It was hunting season. It's like, where is he? Got to get a switch. Got to get Kemba Walker guarding somebody who's bigger, or got to beat him off the dribble, and it just became a hunt session with him. And basically, he got played out of the league. He's not in the league anymore. You know, we had this with Isaiah Thomas, too, in the mid -2010s. I think it's been an issue with Kyrie Irving. The Celtics certainly went at him in the playoff series with Brooklyn a couple years ago. Curry, you saw, who I think is a better defender than people give him credit for, but the And he's a much better defender than Dame is. Jordan Poole is somebody that got hunted in playoff series recently. Chris Paul, obviously, is a big one. Jalen Brunson, remember what the Heat did to him? Mitchell, when he was on Utah, this was a huge issue. And then Trae Young, obviously. My fear with Dame is he's a DH, and I think in Portland, part of the reasons he was able to put up the stats he did was because he wasn't playing defense, right? It was just, how many points can I score? My team isn't very good, and I'm just going to do my thing. He's an incredible offensive player. But how much of a trade -off is the defense, right? Well, you think, all right, well, Milwaukee, they're really good defensively. They'll be able to protect him. Here's the team. Giannis, Dame, Lopez, Portis, Middleton, Conaton, Beauchamp, Crowder. Who's guarding Trae Young on this team? Who's guarding Jason Tatum? Here's a partial list of guys that I don't think this team will be able to guard this season. Devin Booker, Tatum, Butler, Trae Young, Kyrie, Curry. Who's going to be chasing Curry around the screens? Dame lowered? Good luck. SGA, Luca, Mitchell, Murray, Edwards, Brunson, Ja, Garland, Fox, Halburn. Are they going to be able to cover Derek White? I don't know. The way this team is constructed, they are not going to have the ability to guard other guards at all, which means they're just going to have to be in a shooting match with them, right? It's going to be not much different than what's going to happen with Phoenix, where they're just literally going to have to outscore the other team. I've just watched too much playoff basketball over the last couple years, where it's like, if you have that weak link on defense, and you're playing a team that's smart enough, they're going to go after that weak link. Like, think about them against the Lakers, right? The Lakers figure their crunch time. Let's say they make the finals. It's Milwaukee and the Lakers, and Lakers crunch time. They're going to have LeBron and Davis and Austin Reeves and, I don't know, a shooter and a point guard, whatever. All they're going to be doing is trying to find where Dame is on the court and going after him. What about when they play Boston? Boston puts out White and Brogdon and Tatum and Brown and a center, and all they're going to be doing is trying to make sure Dame is covering somebody who has the ball who's now torturing him. I think it's a real problem for them. And what's funny is they gave up Drew's defense and, you know, they, what they gave up on defense, which is significant, and they gained an offense, it might end up just being a wash and they might just be a different version of the same team where they still have a huge flaw. It's just on the other end of the court. I'm just shocked that nobody brought up the defense. I agree he's an amazing offensive player and what's cool about this trade and what I'm excited about as a basketball fan is, can he go up a level? Right? A lot of these stats he put up, especially the last couple years. They didn't mean anything. They were, he was on bad teams. Like, who cares? Ultimately, Bradley Beal scored 30 points a game on the Wizards. Who cares? I think most really good offensive players, if they're on a bad team, can get between 25 and 30 a night. Can you do it nine months in a row? Can you do it when you're getting hunted on defense all over the place? How much can Milwaukee protect him? And what does he have in the tank at age 33 with 900 plus games on the O 'Dominor already? I'm still afraid of the Bucks, but people have, like, FanDuel had them as best odds in basketball and I think most people feel like they're the favorite now. I don't feel like there's a favorite. I think you can go through every team. Boston, I could, I'm scared of Porzingis. What's going to happen with Jalen Brown out there? He has contracts. Can Peyton Pritchard, all these different things. Philly, God only knows. Miami, they're unquestionably worse. Yeah, Milwaukee is going to be really good, but depending where Holiday lands and how this all plays out, I just think it's still wide open. And the other piece, so if you're just talking Boston, Miami, Tatum kills Milwaukee. I have no idea why. Boston is kind of built to at least stay with Dame and, you know, Derek White is about as good of a person you're going to have to try to keep Dame in check, at least. And Boston's done a really good job of guarding Giannis over the years. They don't have Grant Williams this year, but I just don't think, I think there's as many ways this goes wrong as it goes right, I guess would be my final thought on this because for what they gave up, especially with that 29 unprotected and the two swaps and, you know, they are all in on this team. And you know my theory, when you go all in on a team, you better think you can win. Not positive, but it's an awesome trade. It really is. It makes the league so much more fun. Dame and Giannis together. I'm going to enjoy watching Portland. I still have my eating stock. Watching Phoenix fans slowly realize that Derkiszna isn't the answer is going to be fun and then we'll see where Drew Holliday goes. So really fun trade. We're going to talk about it a little bit more with Die Hard Bucks fan, Ben Thompson in one second. Let's take a break.

"Vox is waiting, though, and the S &P 500 is much smaller. It's only about 310, so... Those are some familiar names that we see moving in the markets. Yeah, you've heard of Amazon, right? I've heard of Amazon. Apple's got this event tomorrow, and I guess Qualcomm chips are now going to be in the phones. Now, are you going to line up for the iPhone? What is it, Apple 15? iPhone 15, yeah. If I can get a chicken sandwich also. For two hours? What's the line for the Apple iPhone? Do people still line up for them? I don't know. No one... I don't think so. I don't know if that's still a thing. I don't know. I was going to make a disparaging comment, but no. Hopefully not there. No disrespect to anyone who would stand out in line for a telephone. All right, let's get the closing bells here. Your numbers here on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Green crosses green with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up more than 80 points, or about a quarter of a percent on the day. The S &P 500 higher by 30 points, or seven -tenths of a percent. The NASDAQ going to finish the day strong, up by about a percent. The S on the back of some pretty big gains by Tesla here on the day, and the Russell 2000 not to be left behind. It is the relative laggard, but still on the green by about two -tenths of a percent. Yeah, if we take a deeper look in the S &P 500, more than 300 stocks moving higher. 302 stocks advancing. Scarlet, 197 of them declining. So Tim, you were asking rhetorically, is it all just Tesla? And when you look at the sector performances, look at that line at the top. That's autos and components. It's got about five members. Three of them are down. Ford, Aptiv, and General Motors. And two of them are higher. Tesla, up by 10%. So that accounts for that group's 8 .3 % jump. All of a sudden, it seemed like a great idea. I remember talking to Jimmy about it and thinking, this is a great idea. This will never actually happen. They'll never actually do this. Well, they did it, and you can follow it on Spotify, Strike Force 5. You can get it wherever you get your podcasts. Can't wait to listen to this. Super excited. Those five guys all on a Zoom together, just cracking jokes. I'm ready. So there you go. On this podcast, it's the second annual My Guy Fantasy Draft. Craig Horlbeck, Danny Kelly, Danny Heifetz from The Ringer Fantasy Show. We're going to come on, and we're going to talk about all of our guys that we like, dislike, that we're afraid of in the fantasy football season, and then went to Cleveland to find Garrett Bush, who is kind of a big guy there. I got to say, he's kind of a guy. He's going to tell us what to expect from the Browns, who are the most confusing 2023 team. A lot of that has to do with Deshaun Watson, which Deshaun Watson, are we going to get? How do we feel about Deshaun Watson in 2023, just in general? And where is Cleveland Sports going? What's happened to them this century? All the good, all the bad. And he's going to lay all of it out for us. So this is a really good podcast. Can't wait. First, our friends from Pro Chip. All right, it's the second annual My Guy Fantasy Draft. Our Ringer Fantasy Show guys are here. Danny Kelly, Danny Heifetz, Craig Horlbeck, my rewatchables producer, always nice when he pops on the BS. So we did this last year. We didn't win any awards, but sometimes you don't need to win awards. Sometimes when something's great, when it works, you just kind of know it, and we're going to run it back. Heifetz, you want to explain what this gimmick is? Yeah, it's you text us a bunch of ridiculous categories and then we kind of build an entire show, right? No, it's fun, though. It's just like it's a draft, but it's not a draft. And then it's it's vibes. It's a vibes episode. Yeah, we can agree on this. The concept is like you go into a fantasy draft. We all have the same kind of guides, same kind of rankings, but it doesn't capture the love. It doesn't capture the irrational. I just believe in this guy. It doesn't capture Craig thinking that that Pickens is going to end up being Justin Jefferson this year. There's just some things he already is or fear PTSD from bad draft picks from the past. I actually listened to a lot of the pod we did last year, and it was pretty funny hearing some of the guys we were like completely enamored by that ended up being bust. And then there were some other ones that I was surprised by the accuracy of it. Danny Kelly, can you ever be right in a fantasy draft? Can you ever go perfect? One in a million. It's like picking stocks, you know, if you get one good one, then you're set. Last year, mine was Romandre. I listened to our show last year, too. Feel like I nailed that one. Didn't get some other ones right. So that's, you know, we don't have to re litigate those. But Romandre, I'm calling that one. The take I was proudest of last year was fearing Cooper Cup after the year that he had just not liking the scent of something. This is veteran experience. I've been doing fantasy, I think since like 1989, 1990, something like that. All right. So I'm going to rip through the categories here. And then we're going to go at them one at a time. This is not, it's a draft, but it's not a draft because if we all have the same guy for a category of two of us have it, it's fine. We're okay. Um, the categories are my one true love, the guy that we just liked the most, my crazy pills guy. Do you want to explain the crazy pills thing, Craig? Uh, I think it could go either way, right? It's either you feel like you're taking crazy pills because nobody else likes the guy you like, or it's the other way around where you feel like you're taking crazy pills because everybody likes this guy and you don't understand it at all. So there's a little variance on that one. You can go either way. There's the my I absolutely hate myself for doing this guy, which seems to happen over and over again in fantasy where you go in there, drive like, well, I'm not going to end up with Russell Wilson. Uh, that was the example I used last year. It could be the example you use again this year. I'm not even gonna spend a dollar for Russell Wilson. Then it gets to the 17th round. If you're in a booger eater draft or, you know, you have $5 left for five guys and it's like, ah, Russell Wilson, Sean Payton, and all of a sudden you have Russell Wilson and you have no idea how he ended up on your team. So that is the, my absolutely hate myself for doing this guy. Uh, there's the, I'm going to add this category. It's a little sub category. The I'm staying away from that whole team team. There's teams where you're just like, I'm out, I'm just blind out. I don't want one person from that team. I'll see, we'll see if we agree on that team. Then we have the, my shameless Homer pick guy. That's going to be really, I mean, Craig, you don't even have to go. Uh, although there could be their tickets like plus 500, but I think we know pick is going to be there. There's the, my, I wouldn't take him even if he was free guy. So you're putting them on your D and D do not draft list. I had McCaffrey as my guy for this last year, which looked brilliant for about six weeks. Then he got traded a machine of an offense. We have the, my, that 2022 booty call isn't happening again guy, which is a new category for this year. This is the, you stumbled into somebody in the free agent auction, maybe in November, you wrote them for a couple of weeks, some fond memories, but you know, as a one night stand or, you know, as a three week stand and you're not going back, then we have the, this is a classic one. The somebody's got to get points on that team guy. We just look at all the teams and like, well, I don't know. Everybody scores 300 someone's catching passes on that team. Someone's rushing for 970 yards. There is the, my sorry, I'm sorry. That's too rich for my blood guy where you look at the draft guide and you see some of the salaries next to the guys. Then you go wait at $47. So Najee Harris was my guy for this last year. And I was proud of that one. There's the, my $1 QB guy. You're not, he's not going to make it break a draft, but you're also kind of secretly stashing away in your head. And we all have our $1 QB. There is the, my I'd be afraid to look on Tuesday and see the red flag guy, which I've added this year. I didn't even tell you about this category. You take the guy and it's going great. Eloy Jimenez is the ultimate baseball example of this. It's going great. You're feeling awesome. And then you go on there on a Tuesday and there's the red flag with the yellow box that there's news. And you're just like, Oh no. Oh God, what happened? And there's certain guys who just, it happens every year. A cousin of that, the, my, I know there's a 99 % chance he's getting hurt again, but God damn, I can't resist this guy guy. Then we have the, my Cooper cup. It's a year after the year guy. So I named this category after Cooper cup. So who is it this year? They had their year last year. Don't do it again. Don't get sucked in five more. The my, I just want everyone on that offense. I don't care guy. The my it's a year too early, but fuck it guy. The my missionary position. We've all had him guy. The my, I fell for the preseason hype guy. And then finally the, my I'd never root for an injury, but he is one injury away. That guy. All right. So we're going to start with my one true love. We're going to go and we're going to go on one, two, three, four on the zoom. And then for the second round, then the second guy will go, Danny Kelly, you're up. All right. My one true love. Who is it? I got to go with Tony Pollard for the Cowboys. I'm irrationally in love with this guy. I've been saying it. I think there's nothing you can say. It convinced me that he's not the best player in the NFL. Like, like just pound for pound, the best player in the NFL. Um, you know, last year he finished as the RV seven this year. He's going to be playing, I think more snaps, getting way more opportunities. If he can get up to like the same level of opportunities as Ekeler and CMC, you know, cause he's in that style of runner. I think this guy could finish as a top three running back in the NFL. And so I am, I'm just like full as a gentleman said, full bloom in love with Tony Pollard. I just can't, I can't help it. So in the ringer fantasy guide, he's 13th right now and he's gone for $42 in auction. So you think that's low? Yeah, I would, I would, I actually had Pollard too. Wow. We all have Pollard. Wait, did you too, Krik? I'm scared now. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's, well, that's, that's, this is a sign that, yeah, this is a terrible sign, but I just, I mean, just to pile on to DK stats here, Zeke had 12 touchdowns last year and Nick and Tony Pollard was a top 10 running back. Like what else do you need to hear? Like every time Tony Pollard was on the field, he was the best running back in the league. And now Zeke's gone. Like I rest my case. This is the pregame show where they all pick the same team to win a football and then that team loses. So you should probably stay away from Tony Pollard. Wait. So all three of you had Tony Pollard for this? Yeah, I can give you some. We did not discuss this before coming on. I didn't expect that. Oh, my God. Talk about groups and Jesus. You know, it's, you know, what sucks about this is that means when I have my big auction draft in a week and all my friends are going to be listening to this. And when Tony Pollard comes up, I'm not going to get them because they're all going to bid them up for $57 if I want to get them. Well, Bill's like, oh my God. Well, here's the argument. Rich Rebar, who works for Warren Sharpe, he's at Sharpe Football Analysis and he is a really good comp, which is basically Melvin Gordon was playing ahead of Austin Eckler for years. And everyone's begging for Austin Eckler to get the job. And then Austin Eckler finally got the job and the charges got rid of Melvin Gordon. And then Austin Eckler still wasn't really a first round pick. And we talked ourselves out of it. We hemmed it on. This is Tony Pollard again. It's like Zeke is finally after five years out of Dallas. And we're like, yeah, any point you get Tony Pollard, that's actually crazy. Like, honestly, you could get him for forty five bucks. Austin Eckler is going to go for 60. Tony Pollard would probably just be better than Austin Eckler this year. I kind of genuinely mean this. Tony Pollard should maybe be the first pick in fantasy football. Right? You can convince me. Kind of genuinely. Well, he does have a great offensive line. There are going to be a couple of games against bad teams where he, you know, you have him on Thanksgiving or something and he puts up the four touchdown hundred and eighty yard game. I can see it. So I guess I'm up then because you guys all agreed. You can have anybody you want. My one true love this year, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, who I also like for MVP. So. Last year, he missed two games and they also blew out what what was a D .K. like seven, eight team, seven, eight games where they just like in the fourth quarter, they didn't even really have to play offense. They're just kind of running out of the string. Yeah, I don't think their defense is going to be as good this year. Sheila Kapadia on the on the NFL show has been talking about this. I think it's to be better than he thinks, but it won't be as good on it. And their schedule is tougher. But, you know, is it possible that he's like a four thousand one thousand guy with some sort of combination of 40 to D like everyone agrees they have the best offensive line in the league. Everyone agrees the one to A .J. Brown, Devonta Smith punch is way up there. And I'm saying like Schrager on TV this week was saying Devonta Smith, this is the year he jumps up to the chase class. So we have that with Dallas Goddard, who everybody thinks is the best all around tight end in the league, the guy who actually blocks and plays three downs, running backs, whatever. Put anyone behind there and they'll gain 80 yards. And then he's going to get a lot of the goal line carries. I think he's my top QB this year. I think I would take him before everybody else. So I don't even think it's that controversial. What do you think of that one? He is, I think you're right. I think the key point you have there is that he barely played in the fourth quarter last year. That's the key thing. He was already in a per game basis. He was the best quarterback in fantasy last year and he barely played the fourth quarter. Yeah. So you could argue he hasn't even reached the ceiling yet. He's our number one guy on the guide right now, I believe. Shameless plug for fantasyfootball .300 .com. He's our 21st player. We have like all our rankings there. And yeah, he has the highest floor and the highest ceiling. My favorite stat about Jalen Hurts, other than 18 rushing touchdowns in 18 games last year, Jalen Hurts had more games over 30 points than under 20. That's everything you want in a quarterback. Well, so he's number one in our guide, but I still feel like in a draft, Mahomes is going over him because of the Mahomes. It's just the most fun to have Mahomes. The R. And I actually think that's a little nuts this year. DK, Hurts is I think either 12 to 1 or 11 to 1 on FanDuel for MVP. And I think those odds are the most out of whack of all the MVP odds, because that's, if you're going to say the MVP is going to come from an awesome team, they're probably one of the five teams that has a chance to go 13 and 4, 14 and 3, something like that. He, they have the most talent on offense, I think, of any team that's going to be in the MVP conversation and we've seen him get better every year. So why is he 11 to 1, 12 to 1? Shouldn't he be like 6 to 1, 7 to 1? Shouldn't it be where Josh Allen is? I don't, is it just because of the previous like impressions that he was a, what was he a third round pick or second round pick and maybe hold on to that for too long? Or maybe it's just because he's surrounded by such a good team. I don't know. But yeah, like you said, he's improved pretty much every season he's been playing, even going back to college. You know, from everything that we've heard, he is maniacal about like working and leadership and just all the things, all the intangibles. And then, of course, you know, if he takes a jump as a passer this year, you know, that's going to be huge for him because he's already like one of the best running quarterbacks. He's double digit rushing touchdowns in the last two years. You know, everything about him screams just, you know, like the face of the franchise season. He's everything they want. And so I could see it like from a narrative point of view, for sure. It reminds me of what you used to have with Russell Wilson when he was alive.

Donald Trump's Mug Shot Boost With Rich Baris

"Barris is with us, Big Data Poll and People's Pundit. Rich Barris, is it fair to say, is it true that Donald Trump is stronger today than he was in 2020? Yes. And it's also fair to say that he was stronger now than he was in 2016 when he won. You know, we get this new poll coming out, Charlie, and I've been trying to beat this like a dead horse. And as always, thanks for having me on. It's just not 2020. It's not 2016. They're just totally different races. And he's doing so much better with E -Groups, which we can get into, than he was in either 16 or 20. And, I mean, you know, I'm not a lawyer, but as a pollster, I look at this and it's just very clear why they're trying to do what they're doing to him. What is it? Make it clear for our audience. Yeah, they can't beat him. You know, I mean, Charlie, when we look back at 2020, and I know a lot of people, especially Trump supporters, you know, think that he won 2020. And that's fine. And you know how I feel about that personally as well. But the truth is, he still could have done better with certain groups that would have made it even more difficult for them to pull something like that off. There are, you know, look at new voters, for instance. Biden won that by 30 points in 2020. And in September of 2021, that turned to a Trump plus two. Now in this poll, it's going to be roughly Trump plus eight. Massive shifts. New generation Xers and millennials that are men working, that are coming into the fold. Non -whites that are coming into the fold. It's a total and underclass voters. It's a total disaster for the Democrats. A total disaster. And we do poll other candidates. And I gotta make this clear. This is only Donald Trump. So if you are a crook DA or a crook prosecutor for the Justice Department, you're looking at this and you're trying to survive, Charlie. You don't want him to come back in, now a target of their prosecutorial misconduct and whatever else it is and have him clean hat. So if you're the Biden administration and you're hiding bribes, you're going to try to clean. You're going to try to make sure he cannot get on that ballot. You're going to try to make sure he doesn't have the money to campaign. He's going to be prosecuted. He's hurt by political prosecutions. And right now, that's just not happening.

"30 points" Discussed on Bloomberg Radio New York

"30 points. That's real. So now you go, yeah. So now you go from 5 90 to 6 20. Well, what happens to mister Jones self esteem? It goes up Her belief in the financial system. Her trust, her confidence, her sense of independence. So she now she's sitting there going, okay. What else can we do? So then we tackle the charge off on our credit bureau. Well, that is hers. She was divorced ten years ago. It was a $1000 phone bill, or ballooned $2000. They chased her. Couldn't find her. That was sold to a credit repair agency, a debt collection agency. For 5 years on the dollar, we know that is 50 bucks. What do they want? They want a 100% profit. They want a hundred bucks. Miss Jones, let's call them together. We have misses Jones here. We're looking for her. She's looking for you. We want to pay our debt. We want a hundred bucks. No, we're going to pay you 200 bucks. Why? Because we want your absolute attention to take this off our credit report after she set aside. Want him to fix it. And then when it shows back up on her credit report, because it's been there ten years, you're going to write another letter to the credit bureau to get it off again. They get a 200% profit. Right. She got an 80% discount. Fair exchange is no robbery. Her credit score goes up another 20, 30, 40 points. So now she's an example. Let's just say 6 56 60. She's now in striking distance of a 6 80 prime rate mortgage. We work on our budget. We work in a few other things. Right. And all of a sudden, she's a shiny penny. John, I am like, it is amazing what you do. And the thing is, you are all about financial literacy. And I think you and I have talked about. I wish kids were starting from kindergarten that they learned about it. You work on it from middle school through college, right? Now kindergarten by the way. You are doing. Kindergarten and public schools. I mean, and you're working with employee. I mean, you get you're making a difference, right? People are really learning about the financial system. So understanding how they can make it work for them. Yeah, so now we've told the major employers so Doug McMillan and the CEO of Walmart on co sharing financial literacy for all. Our mission is to get 80% of the Fortune 500 to embed financial literacy into their business plan. So this is not public affairs or community affairs. This is serious business. Right. We say this is what healthcare was 40 or 50 years ago. Financial well-being inside the workplace. So then Delta CEO comes to us and says

"AP sports I'm David Schuster, it's round two for both the NBA and NHL playoffs and Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. It was game two between New York and Miami and Tom Marion was there. The next show some heart when they needed it most to beat the heat one 11 one O 5 and game two to tie their Eastern Conference semifinal series at a game of peace. The Knicks already down a game where down 6 points of the heat with 7 minutes remaining, but outscored Miami 24 12 the rest of the way, as Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart combined for 20 points down the stretch. Jimmy Butler missed the game for the heat with an injured ankle, but Julius Randle returned from his ankle sprain to score 25 for the Knicks. Brunson let all scores with 30. Meanwhile, out in the Bay Area, Anthony Davis had 30 points at 23 rebounds. The Lakers taking game one against Golden State one 17 one 12. Over in the NHL, it was game one between Florida and Toronto and John leatherbee has the details. Part of her hanky scored the tie breaking and eventual game on a goal in the second period as Florida doubled up Toronto four two at Scotiabank arena for hanky took a breakaway pass beating Ilya Samsung for his third goal of the postseason. Nick cousin Sam Bennett and Brandon montour also scored for the peppers, while Matthew nyes with his first NHL goal and Michael bunting replied for the buns. Charlotte widow for four on the power play at Sergei bobrovsky made 34 stops for the win. Game two is Thursday night. And down in Dallas, Yanni gourde scored the game winner in overtime Seattle prevailing 5 four over the stars, turning the baseball, the Yankee snapped their four game losing streak forward to over Cleveland, Gary Cole, with another good outing. Should the GOP Even Have a Primary? Richard Baris Explains

"Us now is Richard barris from people's pundit and big data polls. Rich welcome to the program. I asked the question in the first hour, should we even have a primary? Let's just ask a question based on your polling analysis and your expertise. Is there any way that Trump could lose the primary conceivably at this point? At this point, Charlie, they know the answer is no. We've pulled it now 5 times of polling it again. And the reason why I say that is even before the indictment, Charlie, and thanks, by the way, for having me back on. Of course. Before the indictment, what we saw, even when his lead week in somewhat, you know, Ron DeSantis, about 30% him falling as low as 43 in our polling. But we saw was the Republican primary is not going to be dominated by educated white voters. All right, it will be at least 40 to 60% working class in these states and Trump's 30 point hold with these voters at least. Has to be broken for them to mathematically challenge him. Even when even when they were beating him down with a low 40s, he still was at a point where it would be very difficult to amass a plurality or even in a head to head, a bare majority against him. What we've seen since, and it's more than the indictment. It really is. It's Ron DeSantis blowing how the indictment was handled. It's Ron DeSantis flip flopping on Ukraine. See, it's so much more than what people are talking about in the media. Voters were giving them a look. And then they just didn't like what they were seeing. So now he's falling again and I don't know, people keep telling me, wait till he announces Charlie announcements result in temporary bumps and then the candidate is fully vetted. They either rise to the occasion, or they fall.

"And Katie what's a Friday without a look at Bloomberg pursuits This week's section takes a look at travel through the lens of our 5 senses Well first up let's get to the market drivers report And with us now in the Bloomberg interactive broker studios is creedy Gupta markets correspondent for Bloomberg Also joining us via phone from a White Plains New York is Vince Cigna ralli He's global macro strategist I want to start with you just to give us the lay of the land because we're off of lows We are off of Lowe's and just a quick market check here for the folks who are listening in the S&P 500 down 1.6% It was down just shy of 2% and it did hit that bear market It dropped a little bit further to literally a technical level 38 15 and did bounce back but didn't bounce back enough to very safely call it a rally just paired some of the losses The story here is trifold I guess a triple There are multiple takes here There's the fundamental drivers where you have an inflationary environment You have this idea of cashing out because of this shear wall of worry recession volatility all that jazz Then you have the idea of valuations and margins And that's really where you see Walmart target A lot of these big tech names that have kind of I want to say sidestepped a lot of the selling you've seen in the broader benchmark because of how successful they were in their supply chain due diligence et cetera that part plus the valuations is also driving the trade And then you just have sheer liquidity I mean look at the volatility and then look at the volume For the people that are saying perhaps you're not getting your spreads that's why options expiration today is so important because you're getting the spread $1.9 trillion It's huge And that's why today is so important because for the people who haven't been able to get the liquidity or the spreads that they want today's the day where they get that So it kind of makes sense And I think a lot of people were expecting this much of selling or at least a furious reaction in one direction or the other The question though is what happens that last 30 minutes of trading because that's when that window of liquidity opens up again Chills and I will say the point on volume is so important because I think you made this point yesterday the day before Volume really hasn't been here in this sell off So going to be the fascinating clothes But Vince I'm so happy to have you on the phone You know in your experience as a trader you watch all the different asset classes And there's a lot of volatility across all of them It feels like what do you have your eye on Well I mean watching the level pretty had mentioned that 38 15 and of course the 20% retracement We went just below that Fibonacci retrace mix of 38 ten on the S&P and a couple of traders telling me that there was a significant buy program covering shorts down there but it's really not listed at that aggressively off the lows We're only up about 20 to S&P points off the low So I think there's still going to be another opportunity to test that downside Again the interesting thing I find is what they're selling in that Y consumer discretionary is being sold off so aggressively If you think there's a recession coming on traditionally people hide in consumer discretionary stocks Smokes and cokes as we say on Wall Street And maybe it's because it's been the darling this year and that's why it's being sold off so aggressively but it doesn't jibe with what's going on If you if you think there's a recession you shouldn't be building in so much of an aggressive weight height cycle for the fed You shouldn't be selling consumer discretionary It all just doesn't really add up and it makes me wonder if we might be maybe nearing more of a bottom than anything else because there's just not a lot of sobriety in the market that I've seen right now Not a lot of sobriety So Vince what does it tell you that people are not necessarily jumping into consumer discretionary those smokes and cokes as you say I mean does it tell you that they're concerned about growth No Does it tell you that the fed's going to load that the fed's going to be more accommodative I think it's simply because it's one of those classic trades on the street is to cover your losses you sell your winners and I think that's what's going on And until we get this until the capitulation finally happens and you just reach that exhaustion where that has occurred Dana I think you can see a bounce because people will come back into those over sold stocks That frankly in a real sense shouldn't be sold right now but you need to in your hedge fund to cover the losses to cover any margin costs maybe you have So I think that's more of the case than anything else And that kind of tends to run its course after a while and then things revert And creedy the S&P 500 done 1.9% yields down dollars up what is the cross asset read here To me what's interesting is that you're seeing so much volatility in the equity market but take a look at the bond market and it's not as volatile I don't want to say it's not volatile but not as volatile as we've seen the past I mean put this into some perspective here 12 14 basis point moves in one day and today I think on the ten year old we're only down 5 basis pedestrian I know It's very uncool of the treasury market But it's interesting that on a day where you are seeing that bid into treasuries they kind of put their safe haven hat back on You're seeing the dollar stronger And that was a reversal that I think we saw in yesterday's session where the dollar weakened over 1% in my mind and Vince was probably the better judge of this But to catch up with the movie you saw in yields today the dollar stronger So there is an element of risk off safe haven Ness for lack of better term All right we're going to have to leave it there guys Create a Gupta markets correspondent for Bloomberg with us in the Bloomberg interactive broker studio Vince Cigna global macro strategist for Bloomberg news Joining us on the phone from White Plains New York Just another check the Dow down 1.6% the S&P 500 down 1.8% the NASDAQ composite down 2.5% When we go from New York City to Washington D.C..

"You may ask. They trailed two Oh, in the conference semis against the Nets, and they ended up winning in seven. We will see if the same thing pans out, especially after tonight's must win Game three for the Milwaukee Bucks. You're listening to the NBA insiders Finals Preview show here on ESPN Radio, the ESPN app. And Sirius XM Channel 80 alongside RIA Carter. I'm Alyssa Lang were brought to you by Goodyear helping you discover the road ahead. Goodyear more driven. We've been taking callers all afternoon talking about this game three. You can give us a call 1888 say ESPN. That's 18887293776 Trea also put out a call to action to fight her on why basketball is the best sport that in just a second, we will get there right now. Let's go out to Daniel, Who's in Arizona? Daniel, What do you think about tonight's Game three. Do you get that question? What are your thoughts going into tonight's Game three. Are I just have one. I just have one question for all sports fans, you know. Sure who? Who has any reason to believe that the Bucks are gonna win? Jonas had his best game of his career. They still lost. Yeah. Like Who's garden, Devin Booker. Nobody on the buck. Have a feeling Daniels, the Sun's fan, Can you confirm or deny this, Daniel? We have to have a big time done guy. Yeah. Yeah, I think I love wrong Passion, but do the sun's shoot as well as they did in those first two games at home Now that they're in Milwaukee, I I don't think that the Bucks win the series. But do I think the books can beat The sun's in a game. I do think they could You played this game drought. Um you played in the Southeastern Conference on a college level at one of the best programs in the country at Tennessee. How big of a factor is the game being back in Milwaukee? It's It's huge when you are on a roll and you're getting momentum and the fans get into it, and it's loud and they're cheering for you and they're pulling for. You know the opponents, they say, Oh, yeah, we just pretend they're cheering for us, or we use that energy for us. But it is different when you know that the fans are there for you and they are pulling for you. So I think the game being at home is huge. Now. The biggest thing is also when you get down, right, say the Sun's gonna run The fans still have to continue pulling for Milwaukee Quiet arena when things don't go the bucks way. If things don't go the bucks way, and the arena gets quiet that one. That's when it becomes a non factor because then the sons are like, Oh, yeah, they're silent in here. They're silent. We've got it. Let's go, and they kind of pulled together like it's just us that Chris Paul talks about. It's just them being on the road. So the fans they've got to stay loud, no matter what happens for the books and speaking of scoring, I know he talked about that for a moment. A stat here from Game to Yannis finished With 30 points in the second half on 83% shooting the first player over the last 25 seasons to score 30 points on 80% shooting and a half of a finals game. So if that's your honest just now heating up, and they're going back to Milwaukee backs against the wall, they don't want to go down 30 with a Game four on the line. I think tonight is the most interesting matchup that we have seen so far, because if this Milwaukee team shows up and shows out, we may go to seven games. Andrea, you and I have talked so much about wanting this series to go to seven. I mean, like forest Cool. The team is so dominant. You want too sweet, but it's the NBA Freaking finals. We want seven games, right? I want as much basketball as possible because, like I said, basketball in the NBA Finals, they are just The absolute best. There really is no debate, and I think we have someone if I could bring in Mr A. J from the Bronx. Is there a wrong opinion that you want to throw out here? As far as sports other than basketball? Maybe being better? I mean, are you guys doing? Um well, Basketball is okay. Basketball..

"Of last season. That's Weyland down for the Warriors last night to a beautiful 1 29 98 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Good morning to you happy Tuesday to you, Adam coping with you in the leadoff spot as we are every weekday five. 6 a.m., and I'll tell you. What about this game? It felt good to have the Warriors win a game that on paper, it looked like they should have won and that they won handily. Now part of this, and we're gonna get into some of the sound of early here with Draymond Green comes down to the Andre Drummond situation. So yesterday, Marcus Thompson and I were on filling in for Murphy back Murph in Baghdad today, they'll be in attack at six o'clock this morning taking you through the can be our morning show up till 10 o'clock. But yesterday we were in the middle of the show and we were discussing you know whether or not this game was gonna be a problem, and I felt like you know, on paper with the Warriors. There are teams this year. They should have beaten and their teams that maybe they should not have beaten and oftentimes they fared well in those back to back stretches against the same team like the sort of that home and home of the two games, Syria's the two games, said. There's another there Bob Fitzgerald line. He's been dropping all your honest. The two games set are the two Games series against one team. They feared where fared pretty well in those games, especially after losing one bouncing back again. They're the only team in the league without three consecutive wins or three consecutive losses this season. Yesterday. I was a little nervous coming into the game or when Marcus and I were discussing it yesterday. Just thinking about how this is one of the teams where, without having a center of the Warriors could really be bothered. Now. The Mavericks had an opportunity last weekend or two weekends ago, Tonto sort of tilt the scales on the warriors that way, go real big and they didn't and they split that two game set. If you have a guy like Andre Drummond and another guy like Jared Allen, two guys who are huge rim protectors, huge rebounders, the ability to protect the paint and make the warriors shoot from outside and say, yes, Steph can go off and have one of his incredible performances like he did in the first quarter yesterday, 16 Appointed 33 pointers was five or six from the field ended up making seven more threes in the game. He's up now to 30 points per game on the season at a 50% clip. Who would have thought that he was. I mean, that's really may be the most alarming part of this is not just that he's that he's shooting 50% that he's averaging. 30 points a game while doing that he's at the 50 40 90 Mark right now. 50% from the field. I think you said 43%. From the three point line. And he said 93% from the charity stripe. So is far is this game looked? It felt like it was a game. They should have one. However, there are 500 team, they'll come out. They'll get to you, uh, get something stuck in their craw. And I know they'll be off lack that will be out of rhythm, and they just won't be able to move the ball or knock down shots we saw from Steph the other night. It was quoting off shooting night for Steph against Brooklyn and he scored 27 points, right. We were calling it a quiet 27 Well, yesterday, they toyed with This this Cleveland defense, especially with the pick and roll. Stephan Bremen, like hit three minutes 16 assists. And, yes, Steph was shooting out of his mind. And generally if if Those two things are are working hand in hand. Those numbers are gonna be high as far as the assist totals for Dream on and after the game stuff, even joked that hey, would have liked to get him on his career high 17th assist, but I didn't get to play in the fourth. He was like, Put it on Steve Kerr that Steve Curse fall tonight. We didn't get him his 17th assist anyway, the game before it happens, kind of spins as far as a Strategic element goes because we find out that Andre Drummond this news breaks yesterday during the morning show warmer. Marcus Thompson and I were in that Andre Drummond was going to sit. This was per a dream. Oh, Janowski that the Cleveland Cavaliers. We're going to sit Drummond because they're trying to trade him. I didn't think much evidence that Yeah, Okay. We hear about this stuff all the time. The MBA maybe more than any sport or any league get into the tanking Deb Ocular. The tanking dispute her argument in the NFL. I feel like you never hear about a team. Tanking intentionally. Maybe it's because it's too hard to physically get up for these games. Your instincts kick in. Ah, little too quickly. Also jobs or it's such a premium in the NBA. Not Excuse me, the NFL. Not that they're not the MBA, but guys in the NFL just get their heads lopped off season after season. You can't afford to go 10 to season. I just don't think that instinctually. It happens that way in the NFL in the N B. A. It happens all the time, because generally if you're like outside of the what the top seven or eight picks You may not find value. You're kind of in that No man's land in lottery zone if you're close to 500. Obviously, the MBA is trying to prevent some of that now that they've expanded these playoffs, there are more teams that are in so there are fewer teams that will be trying to tank well, the fact that Andre Drummond was was told he was sitting out because the team has decided to trade him. Did not sit well with Raymond Greene and after the game That's really all he wanted to talk about, he said down for his postgame media session he spent about 3.5 minutes. They're answered a couple of questions, and then he went off on won't call it a tangent..

Jared Allen Raymond Greene Stephan Bremen Bob Fitzgerald Steve Kerr Marcus Thompson Draymond Green Andre Drummond 43% 27 points Tuesday 50% 93% Marcus yesterday two games Steph Drummond Deb Ocular two guys
