"That. What's name is shelling at the lot better, less Stella. Who the guy would Leo, better? Florida giant. That's what I'm trying to tell you, Tommy. La Stella is the guy you're thinking. Well, yeah, if they all come back, and we have all these new people come in here, and they're doing good. The management would have their hands full. Yeah, I'll tell you what, Ray. We've been talking about that yesterday and today it's a big problem to have because you're going to have to option some guys down. I don't think they'll d f a. Anybody they did that would talk man. I don't think they need to do that. I think there's enough players that have options where they don't lose them by setting them back to Triple A and it's a tough decision because there are some players that have been here all year. And it's going to come down to crunch time. Now. Of course, some guys could go on the I L. Another picture of the bullpen might be sent down. But these are things that the the front office gave cap arose. Coaches will sitting around table and discuss what's the best thing for each guy, And that's the decision they'll make and giant fans are just going to have to, you know, wait and see, because we all want to be that general manager and figure out what could they do here here? But we don't know. And I think the right people that are making their moves will make those decisions. That's what we're going to deal with. But you're coming back with some great players. You know, you always talk about looking at the back of a baseball card. And seeing how these guys played list. Stella really has not played well in a giant uniform, looking for him to come back with some life in that bad as well as some good defense at second Brandon Belt hits and streaks. He took a A few wins a good couple weeks in June, where he hit the ball real well looking for him to play some solid defense at first space, and I think that's the key. And, of course, Longoria is your key at third base. Gold Glove winner. Shoulders still bothered him a little bit, but it'd be great to see that in field that I just said Beltless. Stella Crawford, Longoria put Brian and left field and watch that line up. Score some runs, but Ray, good stuff, As always. I appreciate the call. Have a great week, and I'll talk to you next week, Ray Can I ask you one more question Real quick, Right Guy. Full board. Go ahead. This is about the fourth time the bomb belt had it going on deal. Uh, almost near the same injury. I hope when he comes back, he doesn't have the same problem here before. Well, let's hope Let's hope you know injuries happened there made up and injuries happen, of course, is near was flared up, so, so far so good. He's feeling better swinging a bat better and let's just see a healthy Brandon Belton. I think when they got Kris Bryant, I think a lot of these injuries got healed real fast, because they want to be part of it. And I think that's what we're going to see when this team gels together with a lot of the veteran players, But right, take care. We'll talk later. Let's go to Nate in Las Vegas. Nate. I know it's hot in Vegas, but I know this Giants team is hot. So tell me, what are they parallel? Are they doing both about to say whether and the Giants Oh, let's Alaska it is, uh um Michael, my question for you is this You don't want to go to the heat compared to the Giants, huh? No, I'd rather not. Alright, Alright, date. I'm waiting. I thought I'd throw a little curve ball to you. It's okay. But as a former picture What do you see? Like Canada? Be wrong with guardsmen because As you know, I look at him as a all sorts starter, potentially what she was Um, he's not doing what we carry. Would, um Going forward. So can you Can you shed some light on what's happening and then Also greats are below Logan Web today. Great, Great. Um Just just want to know. Like what? What do you think about? Well, I'll go to Logan Web real quick. Because when you look at Logan Web, the shoulder bother him. He went on the I l He really maneuvered well to strengthen it. He got a good when you look at Logan Web His last eight outings, and we're talking eight out because he had a couple of relief parts, and he's throwing 41 innings and struck out 40 and all he's given up 29 hits. So when you're looking at a healthy Logan Web, he's back. I mean, that's your future of the San Francisco Giants with the 1.7 earned run average. I think he's dialed, and now it's just being unstable in between starts. Getting his work on, continue to do strengthen a shoulder and he's locked in. He's one of your starters. On the other side. You look at Kevin Gausman. His last three starts, He struggled and most of it through the split finger into split fingers. A trick pitch it comes out of your fingers. It's not where you release the ball. It comes out of your your 2nd and 3rd finger and you push it up through your thumb. It's a release where he has to get that grip back. We saw it in the 2nd 3rd and 4th inning where he threw the ball well, but he has to throw it for strikes. If he doesn't have a low ball umpire. A lot of those pictures will be balls and that's what a lot of these teams are doing. That's why if you look at all three games, he struggled in the first inning because he can't get it over for a strike, so he's got to come back. And get confidence in that and throw and get more of it. He stopped the third game in Arizona, Zach Gallon who's his face? And so we'll see him Wednesday evening in Arizona. We'll see. The first inning is going to be really where I look at. I want to see where the releases with the split finger fastball is 94 95. That's not telling me he's got a sore arm or a dead arm. But the split finger or something that he's going to have to get a grip on and figure out where the hand and the movement of the ball's coming out of and how much it's going to dip into zone or out of the zone. And by saying that that's going to be on him. It's not mechanical. It's about release point, and I think the release point He's getting it back. It's a field pitch boy. He was brilliant for 18 starts that field pitch was there. The last three starts. He's starting to come back with it with that all Star break. Kind of messed them up a little bit. Of course, the family issues with his wife having a baby, um, that I don't think that messed him up physically more of stress, more exam anxiety. And now now the baseball mode is going to come back. I look for him throwing better and just got to get a couple good starts and get him back on the horse. Oh, get out. You can you can you tell us? Maybe who then the miners might be coming up pitching wise, um, for the Giants, maybe in September. Well, I can't get through September yet, but I'm looking for Miranda to come around. Reyes Meranti has thrown some rehab starts rehab innings I should say not starts. He is that he is the gem that we need in a bulb and the Giants need him an Apple pen. We saw how lights out He is with his fastball and slider, and he would fit in in that middle relief and that's where the Giants will look at. How can they strengthen the middle relief? As you see the starters going 56 innings? You have to have that bridge guy to go in at 67 and eighth inning to get to Rogers and McGee. I think that's why you have lots and Watson's another guy that can enable them like you say McGee got in the last two games. You might see Watson in her tomorrow in the ninth inning to get a say, because that's the kind of flavor that Washington bring. He can bring you that close our mentality, but at the same thing, I'm looking at Reyes Meron to if you're looking. If a starter goes down, you got Sammy long. It's going to get stretched out down there. Tyler Beatty is another one. That's throwing the ball a lot better after he had Tommy John. He's down there got a good release point throwing the ball hard. So there are options of something falters up here. But right now they're starting staff is starting to Joe with Johnny Cueto, and that was the guy that I had concerns with, and he threw a game against the Dodgers the other day. Mr Last king. You're the best. Thank you, sir. Piers, Nate. Thanks. Have a great night, man. Get in. Stay in that air conditioning will urinate. Yes, sir. Thank you. All right, let's go to Bob and Clovis. Where have you been? Bob? I've been looking for you. I was on with Mark Willard. We're talking about you. But no, Bob, Where the hell you been? Uh, keeping real busy. You know, my.

"For the Reds and the Brewers. Let's talk Baseball. From this standpoint, the major League Baseball draft is Sunday runs Sunday through Tuesday in Denver 20 rounds. Our next guest is a Miami RedHawks picture at junior who this past season had an earned run average of 1 18 in nearly 60 innings, allowing just 29 hits. He struck out 93 walked only 17. In those 59 2 3rd innings. He was first team All Mac back as a freshman. He was the Mac freshman pitcher of the year and he could become on Sunday, the first Miami baseball player to be selected in the first round of the major league baseball draft. For more on that, Let's go straight to the source and welcome in Sam Bachmann. Same Lance McAllister. How are you? Hey, what's going on? I'm I'm excited to talk with you. And I can't imagine how you're feeling right now. We're what 72 hours away from the start of the draft. What are your emotions like right now? Yeah, I'm starting to get a little anxious is because I know this is This is the start of my journey and you know what? It's what it's all done to me was a little kid trying to play in the big leagues and Stop trying to find out what comes for me. So I'm pretty prompt. What are you? What are you hearing? What are your expectations right now? Well, I really don't have any expectations. I'm just, you know, blessed autumn recognition and happened whatever team takes the opportunity to, you know, Take me and I Definitely 34 rooms that opportunity. What would it mean? I mentioned off the top that you would become if you're taking in the first round. As many projections have, you'd be you'd be the first Miami RedHawks to go in the first round in the history that that story baseball program. What would that mean to you? It would mean the world honestly, just because Staff of Miami and everything that they're about it. The high class um Organization there as far as the baseball side of things, and it would be awesome. Represent Miami because I know that they took me in and took a chance and you know, really developed me into the picture. I am today mentally and physically itself. It would definitely be an honor. Go back. Go back in time to maybe junior senior year. You're at Hamilton Southeastern High School. You're you're from fishers. Indiana. Maybe you're pitching Hamilton, Southeastern versus Mike Caramel greyhounds at the time. Were you thinking this was a path that your career was headed to be a first round draft pick? No, definitely concentrated on definitely having a strong college career and just thinking I wanted at the time and, you know, seeing where we end up. It's definitely not a crimson journey, and I'm you know, I'm glad it kind of ended up this way. And I got a credit about tomorrow. Disappointed, just hard work and just taking it one day at a time. It looks like this this past season. Your junior year was a really big breakout season for you. Why did it happen? Honestly, just bridging the gap between You know the physicality of baseball. A lot of guys throw hard or have really good stuff. But I think the mental game is just the icing on the cake that can allow guys to really, you know, state level had to do this process because I know some guys can't really get the spotlight off of them. And it's It can be difficult a lot of pressure and you know for me, it was really easy. Just having a really good mindset and taking each day at a time, which is concentrating on winning for my team. Sam Bachmann, checking in tonight might be Red Sox pitcher. He's going to be drafted on Sunday in the Major League Baseball draft. You mentioned the mental side of it. I would imagine it's impossible to take the mound and and ignore completely that there are 2030 scouts in the stands pointing a radar gun at you. What was that? Like, Um, game to game with scouts on hand watching you. Yeah, It was definitely a little crazy at first, but well, you start just cause there's this stuff. They're doing their job and just like any other fan that comes to the ball things they have their own. Their own judgment. And what they think about the guy on the mountains are just concentrating on had an executing the pit. Tell me Tell me and the listeners about your stuff when when scouts would talk about what you throw and how will you throw it? Give me a little scouting report. Um, I think the first thing that people like to talk about is, uh, the fastball from United 99 bumping at 101 101. I think the moving on it. It has some sinking action to it. So it's It's uh, velocity pitch with a lot of movement, and then you go to the slider. It's up to 91. It's a firm offering as well. It's got a lot of sweeping movement that Mrs barrels and then the change of this kind of, uh, the newest addition to the repertory. Um, I'm just excited to use it and at the next level and I think it's a good touch. A couple of weeks ago, Major league Baseball had really for the first time like a draft combine like a scouting combine. Were you at that? Yes. What was that? Like? It was a lot of fun. I got to talk to a lot of you know, ex players and yeah, I really like, question them and their brains a little bit on what? What the next level like and just learn from the best and then obviously there were a lot of talented. Please there, so I was able to touch base a lot of those guys and you know, really meet him for the first time, So it was really cool. And you know, they treat you like big leaguers. So it was. It was a fun experience for sure. Excellent. I've seen I read like every mock draft. I can get my hands on. I've seen your name. Tied to the Reds in a couple of those drafts. Do you have any sense or have any level of conversations with the Reds? Along the way? Um You know, it's really been a lot of conversations just throughout the whole process with with all the teams, so it's really hard to tell. And, you know, right now, things are quiet and You know, it's taking a day at a time and just waiting to see what happens under after I could talk to you about all your pitching stats. I've got to ask you about this stat. Your your grade point. Have 3.31 g p a Pre med micro biology major in pre medical studies Co major, That's a mouthful. How was it balancing all of that, along with playing baseball? Tom is definitely definitely tough at first, just because you're new to the college environment of how how independent things are, but it kind of does work out. Just you got classes early in the morning for those for that pre med route, So I was always up at eight a.m. and knocking classes out up until about 12 15. So after that, I could get my homework done and You know this was a field by two. And at that point I'm done with my homework. I'm ready to dominate the baseball side of my day. And then after that, I'm able to, you know, hang out with my roommates and really chill out and turn in for the night. So It definitely got user as I went on, But there was there was some long nights, you know, mixed in there for sure. Yeah. Um, two years ago that well, the covid season take me back to hell Difficult Was it dealing with a season like that, for everybody was obviously going through the pandemic, but Baseball wise. What did that become for you? Yeah, for me as soon as soon as we got the you know, the message passed the long he was playing a lot of the older guys and I felt for him and you know, just after that, I knew I couldn't take this for granted. And I touched in my, um my body will call a variety plays a can stay. And we got live at that set up every Friday at a facility that we work out at and we're pretty much on the same schedule as you work for for the season, So we were doing everything they would have done normally, just in a different environment, and so I really feel good. Have that on the on the backhand, and several one season was canceled. Everyone is kind of freaking out and no longer place trying to train so we were able to do that, and I was It was awesome. I mentioned you're from Fishers, Indiana. You graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School. I'm a colonel Greyhound class of 84. Would you have matched up against the caramel greyhounds during your high school years? We did a couple of times being out of conference. We had some midweek, but they're in our same sectional. So I got, uh, pitch against them from memory farms. Very nice. Very nice. Those are both both programs. Heck of baseball programs. Caramel and Hamilton Southeastern. Um what? Um, what will Sunday be like for you? Where will you be for the draft? I assume you'll be watching. What? What's your Sunday going to be like? Yeah. Miami's got something going on for me at the dog and Ice center, So we'll be back at school, and I got a lot of family, friends, teammates, coaches and mentors that have been for me and kind of Help me throughout this journey, so it'll be It'll be fun to share that with them for sure. Hey, I know you're busy. I know you're swamped with people wanting to.

"With you as we talk some ball this afternoon, Carrie Crowley. How are you? Another chamber of Commerce Day here in San Francisco. Marty, I'm doing well. How are you do it Fine. Looking forward to the game today. Let me ask you a quick question here. Would you rather be called Stuart facing Kevin Gausman or Joe Musgrove facing Jacob Diagram? I would rather be coal Stewart facing Kevin Gausman, Marty for As Good As Kevin Gausman has been this season. We are seeing a superhuman version of a pitcher in what Jacob deGrom has done. I believe 88 fastballs this year over 100 Miles an hour 93 94 Mile an hour slider bill. You tell me as a pitcher. Could you ever imagine going up? And seeing someone on your staff with a 93 mile an hour slider. I tell you what carry that is impressive right there when you just start throwing numbers like that for sliders and then 100 Mile an hour fastball, giving up less than four runs already this year. I mean, he's dynamite, but I tell you what I like Gausman just as well. When you start throwing his numbers, Marty was throwing numbers on earlier in the show, and they're legit. We've been watching it for 11 starts so I'm right there with you Carry out rather be called Stewart because I think I got a little better chance, but not much of a chance, Marty. Well, the ground can hit. He's nine for 19. Given the fifth slot in that order, I'm telling you he can hit so It's an interesting look. San Diego has the medicine diagram tonight. The Dodgers Kershaw, who's never lost to the Braves, and these five against the Braves, and Charlie Morton on that side of it, so It's an interesting, you know, day for pitching. What can I tell you? But this call Stewart. I know we chatted about him earlier, and Adam talked about him. 2019 last time he was in the big leagues. 29 hits 12 refer extra bases. Um, 129 minor league starts, He did come up. He's a number one pick out of Minnesota in 2013 Carry. What have you learned about Cole Stewart? Absolutely Nothing. Marty. Absolutely nothing far for the course It's okay. This is a few weeks ago, You asked one of my favorite questions on this show that we've had this season, Mark Sanchez was on the Giants were playing the Pirates and you ask mark about the depth and the Pirates bullpen, and I thought, if Mark answers this question if he pulls this off my wrist Back for him will skyrocket. And he did. He knew several pirates relievers. I mean, as a Giants beat reporter I I get to the ballpark each day, usually knowing nothing about who's in the opposing bullpen and very little about who's on the mound. If I haven't heard of the starter Coal Stewart certainly qualifies as one of those guys. You said it fourth overall pick back in 2013 for the Twins took a long time. To get to the big leagues. So maybe there's some Tyler Beatty in coal Stewart, where late bloomer potentially figuring it out this late in his career. I'll tell you one thing. Why Mark Sanchez knew that answer. The week before. I asked him about the starting pitcher for the other team, and he had no idea what I was like. I said, Like I said, It's just It's not something that is ever on my radar. I know that you're the master of pitching matchups. It's always been at the top of your show, Marty, but I like it. It's not. It's not on my radar. All right. What about BT, But what's going on with him? Kazmir gets released of all everyone says is at the ballpark. What's cooking here? Bill and I had a good discussion about Tyler Beatty earlier this week, and you know, this is someone who He's got the stuff. He has got the Giants confidence in him the belief that he can be an asset to this major league pitching staff. But right now coming back from Tommy John surgery, it is so tough to be consistent with your command. It is so difficult to throw your off speed pitches in the strike zone and the PCL eat you up alive. I really wouldn't be shocked in the future of guys coming back from Tommy John surgery would be better served going to Richmond and and just Getting the job done in a pitcher's league and then coming up to Triple a Sacramento to get the job done there, and you can't do that this year. I believe because of Covid protocols. You have to rehab it Triple A. But Tyler Beatty right now still finding it. The 30 Day rehab assignment will be extended Bill. You've learned a little bit about what's what's taking place with him at Sacramento, and you can shed some light on that. I think the biggest thing carry and Marty he's starting to get acclimated on the mound, where he can throw different pitches at different times. The spin rates are improving his fastball, but he doesn't have the command of the pitches and that's what he's working on. And when you come back from Tommy John, it's like you've got a new arm. You've got to test it out in all different types of scenarios, and that's what he's doing. And just like, Kerry said. They extended him a little bit more pitch counts coming up to 70 80 pitches. But both of you guys, I believe this guy could help the bull pit. I think he's that kind of guy in the middle innings that could come in for one or two, and he's your thoughts. Marty. Too wild. Just to wild that, Tommy. John, this is this is exactly what happens on the rehab. Is that what Kerry said. You have great great velocity, but you don't know where it's going, so I wouldn't push him. I I think bread be I'd bring up before him, But I have to ask you this father's Day is in a couple of weekends. Is Sam long a giant before Father's Day. That is a great question. We're having a press box debate last night. Marty, who throws a pitch for the 2021 San Francisco Giants first, Tyler Beatty, who's already a member of this 40 Man roster. Well, he's on the 60 Day. I l but they can add them right back or Sam Long, who's never thrown a major league pitch. And I think that the B riders are starting to lean towards Sam long because he has been lights out. Triple A sacrament. I want to throw out a quick comparison. The Cincinnati Reds have turned games over to T. J. Antone this year giant saw him earlier this year..

"But they keep it close and their defense of positioning a sublime. Every day. That's the one all the stupid graphics that we have in sports. TBS did this like 45 years ago. And I don't know why they don't do it anymore because I want to know. Don't you guys want to know where the defense is planned Events all over the board. It matters. Everything matters so much. I love that little number. They had that little graphic and they show you a little not no. Wood. Did anybody hate that? That was one that actually made sense to me? It's like, seriously, we can't sit back and see. Yeah, I didn't need that. When the defense was where they're supposed to be like I knew they were good. I didn't need to know. I know where the second baseman is. But now Guys, We're all over the map. I would like to know. So when a ball is hit, uncle Oh, or Oh, I just like to tell where the damn defense is is playing And when, when they're really this stupid graphics. I wouldn't think that would be too hard to do. I'm not asking for a lot here, but just let me know. Let you know where the defenders of plan could you please think I think that that was On the MLB network. Is that what it was so I workout was definitely MLB network. I don't remember it on TBS. They're crazy. Graphic was when they usually strike zone in the bottom right corner. And they would have ended and they would have basically all the pitches that was distracting. But the Thie, outfield Donut, the outfield, but the defensive positioning that was in the network and I don't know if that's a planetary, you know, technology or whatever. But I'm in a great especially now, with shifts being so crazy. Give it some brightness fly blind, right? I would. I would definitely like to know that. I think that would be a good use of graphics. The Rays listen, pitching and defense, which I know they're basically the same thing. But because the Rays defense is so good because they're so well positioned in there. Pitching is so good, especially their bullpen. And the way the starters I mean, they they could go six innings, but they don't need to. And if they don't you know if if if Snell only goes for the third that would hamstring a lot of teams, if not outright, kill him for the duration of the series. That's not gonna happen. To Tampa. You know, they're running the bullpen game today. The Astros were basically doing the same thing. But, yeah, I mean, yeah, they've they've They're doing analytics thing and the thing about their home run power. They don't have to do too much offensively. Tampa because they're pitching and defense is so good that keep it close. And today all you need is a walk. And in one guy to run into one, which is exactly what happened today. If if I'm not mistaken, I think the walk might lead to lead to the two runs. I know it did a couple of times. Last night, but back in the day, not me not too long ago, not even back in the day. If you wanted power, you had to get it in two ways either to come through your system or you had to go and buy it. Only a few teams would be willing and able to go out and buy it now, because about because the launch angle and because these balls around Twitter if the wound tighter, he tried to say Invent now power Kid's pretty much everybody's got it. Some team is sometimes have more than others. But now everybody rocket though the Cuban rocket rose Arena, but but everybody's swinging for the fences now. So power is that exclusive domain of the rich teams or the ones that have had the power, you know, bad come up through their system. So you look at Tampa? Yeah, You look at their lineup average wise, all base percentage wise. It's not necessarily impressing you, but they don't need to impress you. The Games. Go stay close, and all they got to do is have one guy. Mainly, it's been a rose arena, but it's been a couple of the guys just run into one. And if you're playing these games old school like its 32, now Astros Top seven. If you're playing these games tense and tight You know, the media's is up to bat right now. All he's got to do is get a fastball in the happy zone. This game is tied 33 and the Astros pressure just just just increase. So the Rays to answer your question, Tom, from my point of view, Yeah, man, they could do it. You know, I've had him since we started making our predictions and the ODS and I'm not gonna change now. They're built for this type of baseball right now. They're fundamentally sound. They don't make outs on the base passed. They walk Mohr than you walk. No, that's for sure. They catch the ball, their top three starting pitchers, air dynamic. Their bullpen is just totally lights. Don't get they don't give up home runs. You know, they do strike out a lot, and they don't have any big time stars. But may I mean, they're they're They're still doing it. And when you go out when you have 40 and 20, you're legit. You're legit, even though it was a short season, so I was shocked, though, that they have been able to turn off the Astros water offensively the way they have. That's a good pitching is I'm not I'm not at all. These guys are legitimate man on. I don't know. I'm not going to say it's sustainable. They're going to do it for years and years and years. But right now, you know in this crazy season Tap is the best right now. They look they look that way. 29 hits They have so far. Yeah, almost her five games. So it's Yeah. What's their staff? E? R. Ray? Do you have that picture disposal? It's gotta be. It's gotta be really good, since they've given up 1 to 2. And for their sake, get up nine runs in four games. And now let's call it nine and three quarters. They've grown up 12 runs so Yeah. I mean, they did against the Yankees to none against the Yankees. They dropped a seven and eight on Ah, They also lost 9235 to 1. And in the last game, they won 2 to 1. So I mean, they're capable occasionally of putting up some runs, but You know what It's a 32 games to one game. I would bet on them. I would bet on their salute or way more times and not the other. The other number that I always look for. I don't know where you guys look. When you're breaking down baseball postseason. I was look for who beat the good teams. And against teams over 500 or better this year in the regular season, they went 21 9. It was the best record in the big leagues by a good margin, so they beat good teams and You know, that's what you face in October more good teams. I can see that will come in quite close at the minute so where where we're kind of a couple of days of rejection a couple of setbacks that wolves that is quite what is really my peripheral vision minute so it's about now trying to tell him not into extending the road between us if that makes sense if those uh. That's also that metaphor when seconds off hit the wall if we use energy thought if you batteries interviews with global in Assam ability say you should be said. What can I use to smash readable. What have massive of mom stop the Guy. How starts to move you'll miss? It doesn't always circumstances. Maybe circumstantial you might think is blocks or whatever and you in creative active in your vow to try and find waltz next a nice and you can be some other solution. You've not tried. You have a wall because I think we have all also think about. I won't now I think there's I don't think I'm GonNa hit the wall. I think I'll find a way to get the data but on the flip side what you just said no everyone's on the perfect they should be so their destinies to hit aides to hit that wall metaphor is to the East is to come to a roadblock in guys.
