Larry O'Connor: Stop Worrying About Who Sits in the White House

"And what we saw in Virginia with the election of glencoe in the first Republican elected statewide since 2009 was exactly the power and organization and political message that we need to spread far and wide between now and election day next year Stop worrying about who's sitting in the Oval Office Does it matter of course it matters But right now what matters more How do you win this country by changing the president and then everything gets fixed Come on You're smarter than that you know better You know your founders the founders didn't want that You'd think James Madison and Alexander Hamilton and George Washington and Thomas Jefferson wanted us to wring our hands and worry about who would sit in The White House every four years Our entire country was built on the premise of divesting power from the federal government in the nation's capital The most important decisions that happen in our lives should be made at the local level and there's nothing more local than school boards Fix your house fix your neighborhood fix your community fix your town fix your county fix your school district That's how you change a country I've got more to say about that coming up in a little bit But that's what we need to focus on right now

Democrats Assess Where They Went Wrong as a ‘Red Tsunami’ Takes Hold in New York

"The fault line is being exposed, the Democrats are doing an autopsy of why they lost in every possible direction from Edward durr to the Virginia governor's race to the lieutenant governor's race in Virginia. How bad was it actually? Well, I just want to. I want to hear, let's just local news report cut 87. This is in New York, Nassau county. Play cut 87 just so you understand what Democrats are dealing with. Even in New York play tape. The shock resonated from the New York suburbs down the eastern seaboard. People are saying there was a red wave, they're wrong. It was a red tsunami. Republican Bruce blakeman declaring victory in the Nassau executive race considered the biggest upset here since Edmund Ghana when seated Tom swazi in 2009. We had the right message. It was taxes. It was crime. People are fed up with a liberal, progressive policies of the other party. This isn't the party of John F. Kennedy anymore. It's the party of AOC and Bernie Sanders, and they're rejecting that. And Joe Biden, they're rejecting that. I said this yesterday to Connor, and I said this to Andrew, I said, if the Democrats continue with this, and if they are unable to inoculate themselves, and remove the tumor, that is woke ism from their party. It is not out of the conversation that if conservatives do their job, and they don't, they're not run by a bunch of feckless morons, which is so often the case, we could end up winning states like New Jersey and Connecticut. We could win 40 out of 50

Tuesday's Elections Are a 'Sonic Boom' Wake-up Call for Democrats

"First, I want to display a little bit of just the collapse. I want to just play a little bit of the video of the collapse of the Democrat regime in real time. I want to go to 56 and 57 in order, let's play cut 56 a little bit about the Virginia election results play cut 56. This is not going to go Republican. And this is a state that has not had a statewide Republican since 2009 about McDonald's governor at the Senate level at the gubernatorial level. The state was bright blue. Right. Yesterday. And now that's a next January state is going to be almost entirely in control of Republicans. And that's, you know, that's a bloodbath. And a state that Democrats are dominated, dominated for the past decade. And Republicans have taken control of the Virginia House of delegates 51 49 that no one saw coming. Cut 57, John Carl from ABC says this is a sonic boom of a wake-up call for Democrats, but they won't heed the wake-up call instead, you have Pelosi and Schumer say, oh, this is why we need to go spend these trillions of dollars we don't have on programs that are unpopular. Honestly, Democrats, I hope you guys try to implement CRT in every single school district across the country, not because it's good for the country, super damaging, but voters hate it so much that it's the greatest political gift to conservatives you could imagine. Play cut 57. George, this is a sonic boom of a wake-up call for Democrats. Biden won Virginia by ten points just a year ago. He won New Jersey by 16 points. And the big factor is the one you mentioned, Republicans vastly outperformed in the suburbs. That is precisely where the battle for control of Congress will be waged next year in the midterm election. And so all across the country, you are seeing this trend.

The Paradigm Shift From Science to Religion

"Stephen, you believe, and I also believe that we're at a we can call it a tipping point a paradigm shifting inflection point in western culture where over the decades, the arguments for God have become so strong that with books like yours and others, there's a shift going on. Now, you're really, you're in a world where you talk to actual scientists, do you find that scientists are out there are quietly saying yes, this seems clear, the arguments in your book return of the God hypothesis are compelling. What do you, what do you hear out there in that world? Yeah, I do think there's a shift going on. I was very pleasantly surprised that some of the endorsements that came back from for the book from scientists to whom the publisher had sent it. And very prominent people and Nobel laureate, you mentioned professor Jim tour at rice university. It was one of the top organic chemists in the world and nano and nanotechnology specialist. We've had them. Scientists recently who's come to affiliate with our work at discovery Institutes with top paleontologists in the world who sometime between 2009 and 2016 had a big rethink of the materialistic Darwinian perspective that he had long held and embrace the theory of intelligent design and eventually publicly announced that he had become a theist and indeed even a Christian and be Gunther Beckley a great German paleontologist. Where is he in Germany? He was at the Stuttgart museum of natural history, the largest Natural History Museum of curator there. It was made somewhat unwelcome after he announced that he supported intelligent design. Well, does this get to the idea though that you still have it's just fascinating to me that there are people that say, no, no, no, you can't talk about that. I just find this fascinating because look, we saw this in Galileo's day, right? Galileo says, hey, I've got some evidence here. He was a Christian. Anybody who wants to talk about that in my book, he was a profound Christian. And he says, look, look at the telescope here, the evidence, and they said then, no, no, no, we can't talk about that. That's unseemly, that's preposterous. It's offensive, it's blasphemous. The same thing is happening today. A guy like gunter Beckley tremendous credentials, tremendous credibility in that world. The moment he seems to side with you or people who are theists, suddenly the German scientific world says we don't like you anymore. And also Wikipedia. He was a great paleontologist until he announced this, and then his page was erased. But, you know, I'm really undeterred by that because this thing is catching on worldwide. And it's a bit immodest but for people who wonder, go to my web page, look at the book endorsement. It's amazing the breadth of scientific the breadth of the scientific opinions that have been lodged in favor of this idea that science is pointing

Why the Virginia Governors Race Is the Prelude to the Midterms

"News. Now Leland, the reason I wanted to talk to you is because I need to know how you are covering the Virginia governor's race. I'm spending a lot of time on it. I'm a Virginia voter. I've already voted for Gwen young and but I think it has a national significance. I think it's in very important bellwether of what's going on. What are you doing about the Virginia governor's race? Are you covering it closely? Everything we possibly can and it's fascinating and you brought this up is just yesterday we were talking about coming to Virginia to do the show in Virginia before election night and then on election night because it is so critical and you think about what's happening in Virginia, which was a Biden plus ten state and now is a toss up essentially between young and Terry mcauliffe and you have to turn the call off admitting what a problem Joe Biden's agenda is for him in Virginia. And then you think about what happened in 2009 when you had then president Obama, vice President Biden, and you had a Republican win the Virginia governor's race. What that sort of foreshadowed for the midterms I had a guy on, you know very well here, which is Larry sabado from the Virginia center of politics. And he said, for all the talk about the 2022 midterms, really what we need to be focused on is a 2021 midterm that occurs November 2nd in

"In this very house. And what happened? I lost my young boy's soul. Very promising. Very, very comforting. So basically she's turning this whole thing to her perspective because she's like, I need you to prove myself to this lamia. Yeah. And Christine should be feeling very uncomfortable right now because she's like, oh, I pay ten grand to go to a professional who can get rid of this demon, but she wasn't even successful. The one interaction she's had with this demon? Got it got it. Let's get this going. Well, also, and I was thinking about this, 'cause I'm like, what are the chances of her stumbling upon this fortune teller? That knows this lady that has met the lamia that has the exact same symptoms that she is dealing with right now. Must be a very close community. I don't know. What's there one street in that? Maybe recently there was like a psychic convention or some type of paranormal 6th sense type of Facebook group they're all maybe. And he's like, wait a second. I know this lady. I mean, Facebook Messenger. I feel like he knew her pretty well, though. Yeah. Because a very yeah. And it's the problem that I'm having with this whole part of the movie too is that the psychic fortune teller guy was kind of tongue Kristina, he didn't know a whole lot about the lamia. Right. But he knew all about this medica and your lady, and he seemed to, once this seance could get going, he knew a fuck ton of stuff. Yeah. So I'm thinking, how did he string her along for two days when he clearly knows a lot of information about any of these seances and stuff? I don't know. It doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't. Because he knew a lot. Yeah. Okay. Okay. All right. They all go into this ballroom looking room. And the doctor explains that her husband was a medium and that he chose this property to build their house on because there was like a portal that allowed spirits to kind of come and go. So they all sit down and they bring this goat in. And huge goat. Get an attach it to the table. Yeah. It's already yelling and it's scared the crap out of Christine. And they hook this poor go to the table between Christine and the medica lady and Christine was like freaking out about it and the fight bars the goats kinda like staring at her the whole time. It's like right next to her, just like staring at her and it was like, huh? Well, I guess she doesn't care. Guess not. So the doctor explains that when the lamia enters her, they're gonna all call this lamia and that she is going to have the lamby into her. And when it does, she's looking at Christina, she's saying this, that she wants her to put her hand on the goats. Yes. So then the labia will go into the ghost and then they need to take this machete thing that they have. Yes. And they need to kill a goat. Yes. That's really complicated. That's a lot of rules. So basically, Christine's job, get possessed, touch the goat. And then merica has this like assistant guy who's there who doesn't really say anything at this point. He just other to the table. Like I said his name was banana. I never really had no idea what it is. I said the other guy. Yes. I said assistant, whatever. She gives him the machete. So his one job one job is to just stab that go. And this is gonna come back. He's got one job. One job. Okay. Do you think he did it? No. No. He did not he failed. So they start this dance, they're all holding hands. The Medicare starts like chanting and humming and whatever. And nothing's happening because apparently Christine is not welcoming this spirit into her. My God. Body or soul or whatever. She looks over at the fortune teller. Yeah, and she's like, why don't I just do? She's like what side conversation with him? Like, as the Medicare is just kind of like saying her chance and stuff like that. She's like, what about in food after that? I know they're like, she's making a whole side of the conversation. I'm like a burger. I really like the crunchy fries. This is like some crunchy fries. This is making me starve. But he's like, you must allow the darkness in. You must invite the dead to coming with your spirit. What? So they're all chanting and then her Christine and the psychic are chanting the same thing about welcoming this spirit into her welcome the dead in to my soul. Which I felt like was risky for the psychic because that sounds like he's welcoming into his soul too, but whatever it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. But it doesn't really go according to plan, because all these other spirits, I mean, dozens of spirits, like, appear in this ballroom at their end and basically senora is like not you bitches. Get the fuck out of it and then all of the disappear. And I'm like, what is happening? I don't know. And then things start like rattling and we see things moving and candles are moving, which seem unsafe that they're having these candles and you're like all these tapestries in this ballroom, but whatever. And all this shit's moving and we hear sounds and see shadows and ever, and then this spirit charges the table the lamia and attacks and is possessing her, not Christine. Well, I think it was supposed to be going into her. Oh, I thought they were supposed to go to the scene. No, 'cause she would tell Christine that she needed to take her, like, the doctor was to possess the one that can do the chance. Got it. So she's now possessed and she look crazy. I bug out. Oh yeah. Black huge eyes. So she's like staring at Christine and all of a sudden the medica as a demon turns to Christine and in this crazy voice says. It. As she fell from the brain. Yeah. It was not a good voice. Well, when she was first taken over, she had like the white eyes. She looked at it when she looked back up. She had she had like black eyes, and then her teeth were different. They were sharp and pointed at pointy and like dirty. I was like, how did that happen? I could see that I think happening. But the teeth. I guess she would have this weird transformation thing. All new chompers? Okay, gross, but they want Christine. And then Christine grabs medica's hand and puts it on the goat. Yes. This is where shit starts getting weird for me. We're right now. Weirder. Okay, okay. So she puts the hand on the goat and immediately the goat is possessed. Right. But it looks like a cartoon goat. It does. Okay. And it's talking? Yeah. Here's a lot to say he's possessed. Okay, so then the assistant gets up with the machete, right. And he's like, and this is where he has. One job one job. Okay. Instead of just like stabbing the goat, yes. He takes a big swing and like basically cuts the rope. Tying the goat to the table. That's right. And then the goat in return bites, the assistant's hand. And now the assistant is possessed. Yes. I said, this is like a freaking game of hot potato. But demon style..

"There you go. That's accurate. And then she starts walking toward the door and I'm like, girl, stay away from the door. Call your boyfriend. Do something. I don't understand what we're doing here. I don't know. The guest to win burst inside the house. All kinds of things start moving around. The lights go out. The lights conveniently go out. She starts seeing shadows on the wall around her that look like a person. Yeah, that's creepy. And then, one of the shadows that turns, and it was a goat head. Yeah. Turns to her, flies right at her in the knocks her down. Yeah, and like, throws her kind of into this furniture piece Yang. And just made a mess of her house, gave her a fat lip and it was like bleeding. And it's like, okay, well now it's gone. The whole house is a wreck, too. It literally was like a wind tunnel in the house. It was like, things were just thrown everywhere. And then he threw her and then the goat was like, bye, and then left. Yeah. And it's like, okay, well that's rude. Okay. Can you at least clean up after yourself? Please forget to make a mess. I mean, shit. Oh my God. But the next scene is like Justin Long is back, and he's like, giving her like frozen peas to put on her lip and he wants to call the cops because he thinks that the crazy old lady that attacked her in the parking garage found their house. Attacked her in the house. And she's like, no. She's trying to tell him that it wasn't a person, but it was something, and he's like skeptical, so she's trying to like, I guess explain to him the best kind of way possible, but doesn't really do it. No. I don't know. Well, she is a going to bed. Yeah. Or like getting in bed or something. And then Clayton's up calling a doctor to come check her out. I guess it's weird, but okay. I know, whatever. So basically they explained it to her that she is reliving this experience. Yeah, she's basically trauma victims that can re experience things. Sure. And she feels like this is happening. When they both brush it off. Yeah. It was like, it was nothing now. Yeah. Okay, so let's downplay it a little bit. Sure. Okay. And I feel like she probably did that more because she embarrassed. Yes. And she knew that he wasn't going to understand what she was talking about, so she was like, you know what? He's right. Definitely PTSD. Let's go to bed. I'm like, okay. Okay. Okay. Well, he mentioned that they should take a weekend away. Yeah. And maybe at his parents cabinet. Yeah. Must be nice. Great. I've seen that cabinet's great. No, you haven't. You don't know that coordinate you. You have not seen that cabin. Because the cabin for one thing doesn't exist. I don't know that. I know the thing. Just as long as I know you. Again. Are you trying to hurt me? I'm trying to put you back in reality. Apparently it's not working. All right, so that night when they're both sleeping and I made a note that is extremely bright in that bedroom. Yes, it was. Okay, sometimes in some of these scenes. Yeah. No lights at all. Sure. Can't see a goddamn thing. And then in the bedroom scene, when everybody is supposed to be sleeping right, it's like daylight. You need a mask to put on leave a lamp on my God. I'm like, okay, rolls reverse here. So we hear the window creaking open over their bed and a fly comes in and that course. It lands on Christine's face. It goes up her nose out one nostril through the other. It goes into her mouth. But she wakes up confused, looks around the room and then she lies back down. All of a sudden this old lady jumps at her. Yeah, 'cause she was laying where Justin Long was laying. Yeah. 'cause when she jumps up, we see just along laying in bed next to her. And then when she lays down, it's not him. It's a crazy old witch. Show is. She like jumps on top of our opens her mouth and like all these maggots. But just start and maggots, dirt and maggots. But all over Christine's face in her mouth so gross. So nasty. When she wakes up, it's the morning. Yeah. So that obviously was a nightmare. Yeah. And then clay tells her, it's just a drink. Yeah. I couldn't wake up. Well, that has to mean something. How could you not? Okay, so clay drops her off at work because while she doesn't have a car now, it's been destroyed by the gummy witch. When she sits down, she can hear like fly's buzzing in her stomach and her stomach..

"Going to see a psychic. It's like, come on. But he's like a very nice supportive boyfriend in the entire thing, but he got joke. Courtney, you know he's my boyfriend. Okay. Well, he's not your boyfriend. He doesn't know who you are. Have you spoken to him? No. You don't know. No. There's my point. Okay. So we go in. And we're meeting this fortune teller. Yeah, we have to pay $60. And then we can go back and sit down and talk with him. Yes. And then place like, do you really need to do this? There's like a monkey head in the case. Okay, this is crazy. It's pretty funny, yeah. But I love you. If you wanna do this, let's go. Let's do it. Let's go into that weird backroom. Fine. Exactly. So he knows she works with money. Her fortune is being told now. Yeah. Because it's only her and the psychic thing on the table, and then just the longest singing this weird cot looking thing. Like behind her. Behind her. When he's talking, we can see her reaction and I'm like, him in the background, and he's making all these faces and she was basically because he thinks this psychic is full of shit. Correct. So he knows that there was a button that was taken from her. Like, yes, and in clays like, okay. Yeah, it's obvious on her jacket going to one button honestly. You're holding her arm where the button is missing. So the wind starts picking up and just start cracking the fortune teller focuses on her, and then all of a sudden there's like a demon flash from her. And he backs away. And he tells him that something is cursed her. Yeah, some type of dark spirit is over her. A dog's spirit has come upon you. What do you mean? You blasphemed the dead while it wasn't even a graveyard. Now, you play with the ouija board, or consort with those who practice the black art. All right, take it easy, man. Come on. No, no, I didn't. Perhaps someone has cursed you. And he tries to give them their money back, and he's like, no, no, no, it's whatever. And they were like, what does that mean? And he kind of just like brushes them. He's like, I don't want any of this. Yeah, bye. So they arrived back at their house and he leaves her there because he has to go be the toe guide to get her car from the parking garage. And as she's working because she brought this macpherson file home, she hears the wind pick up again and the food that she is cooking is done now. The fuck was she cooking? Isn't this giant loaf of something? I don't know. Huge. She must be hungry. She had a rough day. She can't judge her. I'm always hungry. I can't. You're like, what is that? I don't know what that is, but I want some. What did you make me any? Or can you tell me what's in it? 'cause I probably eat it, but I just wanna know. Justin bring me some leftovers. Oh my God. So after she takes this out, she hears creaking at the front door and on the roof, bangs creeks.

He says the hospital then demanded payments of $1500 a month. Right? Told them that can't happen. Can we go with something lower? And they said No. So I just stopped answering their calls. When he couldn't pay. The hospital sued him. Is this one of those things that it hits you in the gut? And you're like, Oh, boy. You know now, what do I do? Um You know, And why is it happening to me?

Milwaukee Brewers Acquire John Axford From Toronto to Join Big League Bullpen

"Park. This guy shine as a member of the Brewers out of the pen. John Axford. Remember him back in 2009 was great in 2011 came out of nowhere. Well, raise your hand if you expected the Brewers to sign John Axford to the 2021 Major league roster. Considering he started the season as a TV analyst for the Blue Jays. I can't imagine many people are raising their hands. But here's John Axford coming back to the Brewers. He'll wear number 59. The Brewers acquire him for cash considerations. What got him back on the radar? John is pitching for Team Canada and the Olympic qualifiers back in May. So he hit 98 on the radar gun, which is about what he hit when he was with the Brewers. Yeah, I mean, who knows where this goes? He had a great run with the Brewers for a short period of time, but would not have expected crazy him to be back with the Brewers on a contending team here in 2021 going to be fun, that's for sure. 3 17 at WTMJ. "I think people were wearing that. Did we elect a black president or did we elect a president you know. Is he going to be the president for all of us or just the president for some of us and a comment like that tipped white people saying oh he might be a black president a president. And you know yeah. I think we're painting a picture here. I think it's hard to overstate how much this was the turning point on race when basically a lot of white america snapped back and and gave up in a shows you kind of how long or how short the leash was that white. America was granting obama. And almost this idea. I think we very much see it now. I think it extends into now but if this idea of like well you know we convinced ourselves to vote for you. Isn't that enough you know and now you step one step over the line Race and boom. That's it you know your grace period is over. It does seem like one of those things. Where if he hadn't been this it would have been something. Yes that's what i'm trying to say. Wait a minute was waiting for the moment to snap back to pull that. Back yes agreed. So let's then move to this invitation to come over to the white house to have a beer between the two. Because i think also says a lot about obama and his sort of political instincts in his human instincts. But you know. I think at the time i kind of was like well. This is a nice gesture but this idea that like you're going to solve race relations over her. I don't know you know And so i don't know what are you nikki. How did that play at the time. And what do we see now as what it teaches us about how obama navigated this stuff yet sort of a precursor to starbucks conversations about race. I don't look you know it was. It was very obama esque right like let's all sit down and talk about this and come to a common meeting of the mind that if we can all just sit down in a room together we'll be able to work these things out and lower the temperature and Find common ground so in that sense. It was very much in keeping with how obama operated as a politician. And that doesn't actually go away. Like that is a mindset that he is going to bring to negotiations with republicans that he just brings again and again to his presidency By using the people were kind of like. You're gonna sit down over beers since all of this. I think that that was a common reaction. I mean look. It's kind of brushed off as the beer summit You know it's a photo op. In many ways. You have four guys. Sitting around drinking beers or joe biden's case a near beer doesn't drink alcohol but it has this. It has cultural impact almost in the way that the tansu does like people. Don't take it seriously We got a lot of buzz when it happened And i think that people largely stopped thinking about it after it happened except in the except in the way that it changed a lot of public opinion about obama like the incident summit itself maybe but this incident and obama daring to speak out. As we've been saying. I think has a big impact but yes i mean. Obama himself sort of at in real time tried to downplay the summit itself. Which i think he has courses..

"Because barack obama knows skip gates He gets a question about this incident in a press conference that he's doing about healthcare so he's laser focused on trying to pass the affordable care act and a reporter asks him about what happened to henry. Louis gates and obama. Says i think quite fairly that. The police officer acted stupidly in escalating the situation and putting gates under arrest. When it was a situation could very easily have been cleared up And that phrase acted stupidly triggers a backlash his his numbers with his approval numbers with white americans plummet at that point and they never recover like he just loses a big batch of white americans in this situation where he suggested that a white police officer who arrested a man on his porch Acted stupidly so can we linger actual in that exact moment that exact phrase because i do think that is the as you're describing the point at which this just completely turns I think i generally agree with you. That obama was offering a fairly straightforward assessment. That said is there any part of you. That feels like you're the president of the united states. You get this question you know you. You can watch some pitches you don't have to weigh in yeah or whatever and it's like honestly i almost feel like is saying this but like you know what are the things about trump was. He felt like he was still a guy who could comment on the news. And just sort of like be a guy who was just watching the world play out and offer his takes when it was like no. You're president now like you..

What Inspired Obama's 2009 Beer Summit?

"Will see over the course of this episode but i know that all of us think the beer summit is this sort of like sneaky really important moment in the obama presidency. I'm glad we're finally getting to it. kelly where do you start with the sort of incident itself crowley and gates on this doorstep. The neighbors calling the cops. What else do you feel like is important to know about that moment. And then we'll get to the obama white house invitation. Well henry louis gates. It said that he was returning from a major tip. He had just got back into the country from china. So i can imagine. He is jet lagged. He is weary and he has a lost or misplaced his keys so he's trying to get into his home And has has has his driver help him to try to break into his own house And in that process neighbor sees. What's going on. Look suspicious to her so she called the cops and when the cops show up. I think henry louis gates was a bit miffed. If you will that someone would be questioning him about breaking into his own home. I'm sure he said. Do you know who i am harvard for. I'm sure that was part of the exchange But it's also sort of interesting. Because henry louis gates junior also walks with the came. He has a physical disability. And so the idea that he would be breaking into a home himself just did not make sense. And i'm sure a cursory look into the home could also showed you pictures of himself in the house in which he lived. There were a lot of clues contact clones. That would have told you that maybe this is all a misunderstanding but before it could get to that place it escalated and here. We have the beer

"Dot com Mr Producer This goes back to April. 22nd 2009 and I dug this up. Birthday predictions of 1970. This may have been on Instapundit actually. The reason you shouldn't believe Earth Day predictions of 2000 and nine And they point out even back then, 12 years ago. For the next 24 hours. We're confident in saying that because they've always been wrong and always will be need proof. Here's some of the hilarious, spectacularly wrong predictions made on the occasion of Earth Day 1970. "And people need to be aware of what's going on and and uses the scifi a mask to make to to make it easier to tell those stories. I'll be interesting to see this tweet. Ten someone jesse you do. We think that there will ever be a district ten. So i just i just broke. I just found yourself so on the eighth of march bloomberg has said that he's writing a screenplay is being re shelter as well so the the main character shelter call plays plays like us. He's actually helping survived the screenplay this was on a this was february. Twenty six twenty twenty the oakland county at the out. I'm going to ask a question on that. Because i mean we're obviously are fans of the film and i like to think that we all liked to have a continuation of the story like yesterday. What i'm gonna. I'm gonna start i. The question is what do you guys expect. That would happen in the second movie. And i wanna go ahead and tell you From my perspective. I don't know that. I wanna see wicked. Turn into human i think He has a lot more valuable to the aliens Not because you know the typical scifi movie he invasion of earth no Because he can bring. it can be an advocate. He was human and he could be an advocate for you know human immune relations data. She's my thought that is my thought. So i'm kind of curious to see what you guys would want to see what you guys would expect from this movie. Well though i i. I think unfortunately we live in hollywood world. Where the the the. I thought you would have is that. They would make it an alien coming to take over the world because we've mistreated them so badly. This is that revenge coming down to take over. I would hope that they don't do that. And i think that bloom come from seeing his other films like the only other films that he's done said i don't think he will do that. I wouldn't want to say. I think ought to just see what she does but from what i know about this job. Expect the unexpected. Yes that's definitely jan carlos. When do you think. I mean what do you want. What do you expect you know. My brain goes to all the when. I started your for me that that this is it's gonna be closer story first off and few words now. What i think is gonna happen. Just like many other great skeleton stories throughout human history. They are going to have at some point to create opposition because not retaliating. It's not working so it's going to become a matter of. We're going to be exterminated here. We're going to have to start fighting for life's just like humans don many other times other humans different events bowling point. And it's gonna come to x. Boiling point is gonna be at global mois and is my be used actually to shelter against them to make him look global this threat which is just gonna make things more of proportion and and if they have the upper hand they got. I ended up teaching us that they could do better. You know that we could do at you. Might say look. We can kill you all but we're not doing that. It was a long untrue. Let's get let us go. You know being being the bigger person. That's that's my idea of what's going to happen. Which should be. i mean. He has a lady of our behavioral works at the same time. It has a nice ending with a moral message. Yeah so they could do something like what they did. With the rival the ending of a rival like coming together as a as a planet to find some common ground between different nations arrival. That those aliens like they didn't really care about human they had already picked. We're going to talk to well. Let me let me beg. You differ they kind of care about humans because they care about themselves because humans in three thousand years. We're going to help them so they wanted to help them now so they can get help when they need it so. Yeah yeah i get your point. I definitely get your point. We got another jesse. I like i like the idea of taking over but being benevolent and then shaming us. Yes very best course of action the course of actual ethically and morally if you think we deserve what we as a nation deserve exactly. I mean there's there's a. There's a word that the audience get confused with. There's a difference between attacking and retaliating dam and there will not be an attack at any given point at this point. There's gonna be just retaliation because we have done so much wrong that he's just like anything shows like isn't enough eyewear corner. Same thing's to happen today becomes. We took him to an instinctive state of mind because we were so brutal and inhuman with them. It's just actions. I think Thanks for that comment. i think I never thought about it. That way. But dow makes a lot of sense in that something that yeah i would. I would like to see that in the movie. And i think is something that we need to see as a message you know For for you know what's going on in this movie. It definitely plays into the message. Said i think this movie is trying to trying to tell. Yeah absolutely one of the things that we definitely. I think one of the things that we need to know so all this. I found that says that he was driving the flight. He said the him and the team would only do it. If they have the exact right reason to make. I think we have to look at what's happening. He will relate district ten the was happening in society right now so you only have to look at what's going on in the world. I think is how he will then play the foam around that because he'll walk to make people think about it if we say. The district nine is based upon what happened during the apartheid era. This next film will be about what's happening with cova this past year. What happened with the rise movement and how is constantly changing overpopulation. Spoken about the aliens. This is all happening in our in our world right now and he will relate to this hundred percent now. Let me ask something that. I always thought. typically oh historical historically Movies dead touched a tra- masks dramatic.

"The guys i think if i think sometimes you now she make you feel uncomfortable. Because he's so real. I mean you know. The aliens are rayleigh us in a way they talking about illegal aliens living in different countries and stuff really does make you kind of like take a hard look at society the way things are going and think will how can we make things as she could come in that. You said about his personal twitter. That said lead relied the movie that it was horrible and disgusting but this is what actually goes on in real life. I've seed shantytowns in townsville up seeing the kato. I know that this is exactly what goes on. And it's all about how different fraction factions longworth but different societies will living and intermingling with each and. How old works and just nationwide. When you watchos these phone because you can watch it from just enjoying felt the more you watch it you can the more you watch you understand about what the direct trauma say what character trump say and how this actually relates to life as well and you know john carlos might be a lot more familiar with With what. I'm about to say but i am. You know i always come out and say and my show that i ended up a person to likes movies would happy endings. Right and this movie dawson. Necessarily i guess is depending on. Your program has a happy ending his very very hard to watch even for me to watch But you may ask why you wanna do that to yourself why you wanna watch movie that makes you uncomfortable I first of all. I wanna say dimuro The movie is really good. And why i like watching will be is because of that reason why you talked about where this is a very first movie and i remember the first time that i watched it where i am looking at scifi but he it almost makes it feel true. It might as well. It's almost as if i could have the tv on and all. I'm watching his news because most of the topics are discussing. His movies are topics that we see on a day today. Basis if you if you watch the news every single time and this is the reason why i tend to limit my news time because of that negativity coming in but if you watch the news all the time this is what you're going to watch and that's why i feel so clever for a the director to to come up and also the writers to come up with a story like that will you can merge sifi in reality in such a way. And that's the reason why i like watching this. It's it's it's incredible. How they they managed to do that. So for all of you who have not watches. Moving The disney movie came out in august. Fourteen two thousand and nine I believe peter. Jackson gave this to kneel hobbled camp essay project. I can't remember how much how much money can remember if it was like thirty million dollars and he said go ahead and do whatever you want the thirty million budget and it grows two hundred ten million pow so right there. You can tell the d. by the movie industry Yardstick if you want to call it does it. It was a success. It made a lot more money than than what was budgeted for so they definitely made a project so this movie deals with it aliens coming to earth in right off the bat. I noticed something was different because when you talk about a movie where you have aliens coming to earth. You automatically imagine you know they're meeting they're attacking even if they're not attacking right away. They they eventually attack there Military involvement right away. And in in this movie i notice things immediately are different number one. Because you're looking at news reels from apparently this happened in nineteen eighty two and johannesburg south africa. So you're looking at. It apparently looks like old newsreels of this spaceship coming into earth and it's just stopped And you're wondering like okay. What's going on. Are they going to all of a sudden. You're going to see ships coming out and it's going to there's going to be a lot of explosions and nothing ever happened. And they sent crews over there and apparently they found the sheep to be broken. Somehow and as a reason why stopped Dave found tons of millions inside the ship Where they were an really poor conditions. you know the hunger. It was just all kinds of enhanced has observation. I given point. They show aggressive. They actually heard exactly exactly. But i i don i feel a do but i don't think this movie is about. It's of all sorts of psychology. Today i just very deeply into our behavior we'd each other and the aliens are just safer because it. When i see when i see that movie for example doesn't that i wanted to mention if you graph the scenes where you see that the airlines are being abused or lynched or mistreated. You can literally transfer to image over human doing that. One of the human throughout history and there's economic images and paintings that depict car all the time so it's it's and we talk about this and other alien alien movies are all about human behavior now the and this is why this is so brilliant is because one brings you closer so close to home that it makes it in a little uncomfortable and many many times when you watch some of the scenes because i to home. You know unless you don't like to be there are people that be. T's like mentally teeth others that they like their certain delegates topics that people don't feel comfortable talking about you and i were crazy man. We're talking about anything like anything. We don't care now discrimination. That i don't know i don't know you. Will i win okay. We don't care getting real like it is what it is. It's part of these. How you how you because you know. Sometimes you know there's so much stuff going on in the world you need direct this to kinda show you really what is going on in the world you know people can show you videos and stuff of what's happening and because you feel so far away from it you don't want to get involved in it but a film like base that does it. In a science fiction conaway you relate to it more for some strange reason. Terribly terribly back alias. If you if you noticed and make full on the aliens were humans. You wouldn't relate to it in the same way because they say an alien group you look at it and you go. Oh god the terrible doing bob but they certainly want you do the research and you see the actually as you say aliens ross. Then that's when you really think about shit. Oh fuck like this film is actually about our society or it makes a lotta sense that old joke that we have like people. Don't cry when human.

Really, we were talking about our parents who are in their eighties, and how they both still had landline phones at home, but it really rang. Hold me. The other night when I was sitting there after dinner and my smart phone rang, and I started talking about two minutes later, my wife's smart phone rang and she started talking and we were both is Charles Rock about 6:00 at night. And I thought to myself, remember the old days when we had just one phone line in our home, we had our last landline in Ohio and probably got rid of it and probably 2009. I would bet you've been gone a long time and I can't even imagine having just one phone line anymore. That matter. I can't imagine the old days when it was attached to a wall and you had that big long cord that goes along with it. It's kind of funny how technology does change but more importantly, how things just so commonplace back in the day aren't commonplace anymore. In fact, some kids have never even seen anything like a landline attached to a wall. The good old days, I don't know about that. But one phone line for a home, I can't even imagine that any more dead.

I'd wants to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 Per hour and an executive order for doing so could come in a matter of weeks. The U. S minimum wage has been at 7 25 an hour since 2009

The Most Popular Dog Breeds of 2020

"Year, they released their annual study of the most popular dog breeds. That's why it's called an annual study because it's every year. For the 30th year in a row. Do you think is the most popular dog breed in the world? Labrador? Yeah. Laboratory. It would be a Labrador retriever. Not 25 years, 30 years in a row. 10 through one number 10 dioxins. That's the only breed on this year's list. That was not unlatched year's list. They knock the wealth corgi out of the 10 spot. Obviously, people put out this list. Oh, no, Nene Doc sins. Okay? Yeah, well, Welsh corgi almost looks like one except that he's got hair on it. And I'm glad they knocked the Welsh corgi and nobody likes the wealth. Can you deal with the country that their national animal is a dragon? There are no dragons. I hate to let him know but number nine German shorthaired pointers. Big hunting dogs number eight Rottweilers. Like the way a Rottweiler looks, number seven beagles. Similar to Mr Teas come in on dioxins. Evidently, nobody on this list as Bill number six poodles. Number five is bull dogs, and we're going to jump to number two, which is French Bulldogs, which is up from fourth place last year. You know the difference between a bulldog and a French bulldog. The years, right? Do what is it? The ears basically their size, the size, you had land, and I find it interesting that both Bull dogs and French Bulldogs originally we're from England. You You had a bulldog that went a strays somehow. Yeah. Bulldogs at full growth or about £50. French Bulldogs air under 30. Number four golden retriever. Number three German shepherds, which again was number two and had been number two since 2009. That's a long time and has mentioned French Bulldogs moved in the number two and for the 30th year in a row. The most popular breed dog is the Labrador retriever. "That worked for a little while a hot Tub. And you should do right. He was he was in the heat soaking. Have you toned up lately yeah? That's totally irrelevant. Song for time actually migrate when I did tune it up the The Spurs were very Black Bracken crunchy. You like this problem. I do like that by still. Don't were black and credit when you headed tuned up now. I'm going to guess that perhaps you choke is not opening all the way. Yeah I guess. If the Schroeck weren't opening then at some point you would end up flooding. It she was right. What did she say when she first called? I think it's flooded out the battery or the or the other star motor. We made the mistake of saying just a foul. Here's what you need to do. I don't know why it's flooding. I suspect that the choke is not opening all the way. And that's why it's running to rich. That's why it's difficult to start when it's hot. You may have what's called a percolation problem maybe the For whatever reason that the The what Yuma who uses the The carburetor is inventing properly to the CHARCOAL CANISTER. I guess you have ninety or one hundred thousand miles on this. Okay so you may need to have more more than just a tune-up would you need to do is take it to the mechanic that you go to downtown. Santa Cruz now does if you can make do this price if you if you can make do this and you should drive it take it to him. Shut it off. And say hey. Let's try to start this and you tell me what's wrong with it? I tried that one. Or you're more than once didn't work perfectly. Oh of course that's why you have to try it more but having just checked a choke after it's all warmed up that you've driven for half an hour drive into the shop and say just check the choke and make sure it is open all the way that would be the first step. Yes that's it know. She knows what it is. That's good you see that way. We'll at least have another week so you go check that and if it still doesn't work you can call us next week and we'll we'll come up with something new and different. I think it's flooding. I think so too. But that's what that's what Ellen said when she called if you if you remember. Yeah I know that well it took a while to come their way of thinking. Ellen thanks for calling. Bye-bye didn't help her at all one. Eight eight eight car talk or one. Eight eight eight two seven eight two five five. Hello you're on car talk in high. This is David calling from Bellingham Washington. Hey David what's going on well my friend and I We have a little disagreement. Get back from a day of skiing and we want to get. The car warmed up as quickly as possible now. One of US thinks that we should turn off all the assessories. Turn off the lights off the fan and just let the car run and the idea is that that will be saving energy and they'll be diverted to the engine and we'll get warm quickly the OLIVERAS. You WanNa warm the engine as quickly as Barlow. You WanNa want me inside of the Kara. The second is correct but we don't care about Engine Very Colin Cranky and we want to get work. Okay so you WANNA know. Will the inside of the car get warmer faster with all? These accessories turned off or turned on. That's correct. I want somebody wants to turn them on. And what accessories are we talking about lights? Well anything we can. Oh I see so. Your theory is if you're sucking a lot of juice that will require that. The engine works harder works hotter and therefore gets warmer faster. That's my take on. I'm with you Dave and sold brother. I mean unfortunately I think it's only gonNA help a tiny tiny tiny bit. That's right you know the engine is is is going along and how much is it slowdown and how much extra work is being asked to do when you turn on the lights and all that stuff not much not much considering that the engine primarily designed to move with three or four thousand or more pound vehicle so it's really siphoning off a tiny tiny fraction of its power to run all this stuff and as such it is going to make the thing warm up faster because as we know an engine it's under load run hotter than one that's sitting there idling so that means then that if you look up the fastest get in the car and start driving up hills. Fact drive up. The ski slopes but theoretically you're if you're if you want to go on a theoretical basis. Yeah you are right. Well I'll tell you that both of us now. One of us is an engineer and the other is absolutely a mathematician. Also who's mathematician you on the mathematician? And he's the engineer. Shame on him. I I told him to. What is he? Well he's an electrical engineer. Stayed on know Diddley. What he he should. This is exactly what he should know. He didn't power electrical engineering. So who does he work for? Don't forget Wayne No. We're not to tell a story when when my wife and I were first married I was I was responsible for renting an apartment forest. She let you do that without seeing she was in New York you know and she was buying the dress and hiring the band and all that stuff find us an apartment in in our fair city Cambridge. So I I do in. This place was real bad but it was always could afford anyway. We will list the help of my dear friends with my brother to help paint the walls and ceilings and the people who had lived there before us were hippies and they had painted the walls black in the ceilings purple and the landlord said no matter. How many coats it takes. I'll buy the paint. Knuckleheads provide the Labor and we finally did so on Saturday afternoon. Ever others says hey guys want to help me. I got the paint. I got the role. Ism We all said sure pal and the day gets. Where's on. We finally get to the last room. Which is the deepest purple and imaginable? And what's hanging from? The ceiling is alight. But it isn't wired in one way. One pair of wires is attach and their two naked wires if you touch them together we'll make the light light up. There's no switch kind of light. That has a pull cord but we know the two wires coming out of the ceiling alive and now five guys who have gone to. Mit Three of intellect to two were electrical. Engineers debated this for about a half an hour whether or not it was one of those well just climbing a chair and hooked up the Suez all. I'M NOT GONNA go hook up those two as I'll get. I'll get electrocuted ground. Get electrocuted because you're only touching one wire and that doesn't mean anything and we say what if you jumped in the air while you were together and before you rip the whole fixture down from the ceiling if you manage to make the connection? Would this work. So we debated and debated and meanwhile it's getting docker docker and the fellow who lived next door. Wayne who I don't think went beyond eighth. Grade comes walking over and he he introduces himself and he says what the Hell. Are you guys doing painting the dark? And Without Breaking Stride. He gets up in the chair. Grabs the wires twists them together like on he gets off. The chair walks away. There's a lesson to be learned there. We won't divulge the name of the other participants. Stanley's One all. We even had a mathematician. Oh Yeah we we had the whole there. It was pretty sad and they will all wrong. I think we're all chickens. But but Wayne was no theory. He just knew he was running by the thought process. Anyway all right. Thanks for calling the answer C. High by well it's happened again. Maybe we shouldn't have mentioned his name and the subject of of the of his email was your damn puzzle. Tom And ray usually your infantile puzzles. Take me no more than fifteen minutes to conjure up the correct answer but last week's was driving me crazy and has caused unexpected problems. I'm in my kitchen last night. Which happens to have a double light switch. And I'm trying to figure out prisoners and the light switch puzzling as I go through the various scenarios I flip the switches testing. My different hypotheses soon is a policeman at the door asking me. If anything is wrong. He tells me that various they've is have seen my lights blinking in strain sets of twenty three and I was signaling a distress call. He asked if I would stop until I could tell my neighbors what I was doing so they wouldn't call nine one one anymore. I agreed but in two minutes after they left. My house is full of concern. Neighbors asking me what happened. I've got the same look from them as I did. The police officer they all left mumbling. I think it was something like swing a shame. He was so young. We always thought he was normal. You was though I mean. I'm sorry I mean the guy was trying to use the empirical approach and he's flipping switches. They have a hands on approach. Always works best for me. I have to say that this is one of the few puzzle is now that I think of it. That you didn't fuss gate or unclarified it and have was free. And that way out of the box free unclarified. You actually went out of your way to make it understandable. I thought I did. Yeah so unlike you. I know it is well. You'll see what happens today. I went to draw that day and the The emergency brake was frozen onto the cost. my question is what am I supposed to do to get it? I see well I mean you can wait for the spring thaw drive it. No even that's not going to do it. You know what what happens? Is the shoes the brakes when you put on the emergency. Brake handle This eighty-six civic has brake shoes in the rear. Which is the only breaks at the emergency? Brake acts on the rear brakes. And those shoes get pushed out by the tension on this cable. That you've tugged on against the against the drums and they have rusted in place If you tried to move it at all good underneath it with a hammer busted up yeah. That didn't work so we hit the gas tank hitting the brake shoes with hammers. Oh you did. Did you see the cables while you're under the I didn't know I didn't have the brains look for the Well you want to crawl under there again and find the cable shake them yeah correct grab onto it and just. Yank it but I'm going to suggest that that's not going to fix I. I agree because probably not because the shoes have in a sense welded themselves to the drums. We've had some warm days and if it were the cables that were frozen. They would have thought out by now. It's rust what we doing with this car that you could sit for all these months we well. What were you doing with it? I was trying to avoid at Meditation. Center out here in Berry. Yeah and Meditation for three months. It won't throat it in reverse tried to go backwards and hopefully you will free them up But when you can't you can't get onto that. Walk down to that gas station and boral their oxyacetylene torch. I have have them. Just tow it over and the and they're going to have they're going to have a devil of a time getting the drums off to And they're going to tell you that the next time you park it for the winter do not set the handbrake and don't forget if if nothing works you won't care breaks compared to Nevada.
