Now the original MTV Cribs debuted more than 20 years ago. And in the original run, there were 113 episodes over 19 seasons. I I don't know if I like this. I wasn't a big fan of it to begin with. Hey, look at all the stuff I got you don't the, uh yeah. Lifestyles of the rich and famous, which I used to love that robin leaks used to crack me up. Uh huh. Does this guy makes more money in one minute and you're making your entire lifetime? Well, it's coming back and August 11th. If you're into it, it will be on MTV. I can't. I don't even know where MTV is on my dish. I don't think I have access to. Maybe I do. I don't I think I have it. I just never watch it. Because why they don't play music. They don't show videos anymore. Why would I watch it? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Uh, that's one of those things If you're into it, it's coming back on August 11 so you can serve your calendar. A lot can go wrong in three days. Not kidding. I mean, my bachelor party was me and my my best man, Ray and our friend Jimmy and we went tubing. And then we ended up a galaxy billiard playing Ping pong. Awesome. Yeah, it was a blast. And then we ended up in some place down in the river Walk Billy Marbles. You remember that? I don't know. It was a club down there. I did not want to go. But they drugged me there and I don't know what time it was, but I I just hope I said Look, you guys take me home. I'm gonna call Cindy to come Get me done. I'm through. I'm finished. That's you know, bread. Didn't want to have a bachelor party and like, Are you sure he said no, No, I don't want to do it because knowing my friends, they'll probably go the whole strip around. And that's just not me. And I'm like, no. This is going to make me look bad. You should have some kind of magic as I've already had My strippers. Come on. No, no, I I was at the Hill walking Tara Hill Country Resort. That's a good point. I have a batch reporting. Absolutely. They had some nice restaurants, she said. I got married in July. So tubing was just natural thing for us. We went on the short, right? We didn't want to spend all day out there. Good times. And then we played ping Pong at the galaxy billiard out there on parent Bible for probably about three hours. We had a tournament going on. "Coach of the men's basketball team at Georgetown. John Thompson built the program into a powerhouse when you arrived at the school teams record was three and 23. He changed that trajectory with a clear vision and plan. Thompson created Hoya paranoia with winning teams in the eighties. The lists of his many accomplishments is long and includes coaching 27 seasons of Georgetown, 20 seasons of which led to appearances in the NC, double a tournament. And John Thompson was the first black coach to win an NC double a title in 1984. When he himself was a young man applying to colleges. Thompson says he never even considered applying to Georgetown, whose own basketball team remained entirely white until the 1967. He attended Providence College on the recommendation of the Fame coach Red Auerback, who ultimately drafted Thompson to play for the Celtics. After two seasons with the team, Thompson decided to follow a different path, which ultimately led to his legendary coaching career. John Thompson's influence extended far beyond buckets. It went to education and policy and teaching his players to be confident and proud of themselves and their blackness. He recruited players like Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning to Kevin, with Jimbo and Allen Iverson. Ever seen credits Thompson for Saving his life, which he did once a hot property for college recruiters, Iverson was wrongly implicated in a brawl and jailed as a teenager. Thompson welcomed him when others shunned him. When John Thompson passed away in August 2020 a clip of Iverson at his 2016 Hall of Fame induction speech, explaining his love for Thompson went viral. "You either loved it or you loved to hate it. But after 20 seasons and 14 years, the reality TV show keeping up with the Kardashians will come to an end in 2021. If you are in the love to hate it Category, the show follows the lives of Kim Kardashian West, her mother, Kris Jenner, and an ever expanding cast of characters and its subjects. Became more famous and more well known as the show continued in a statement Kim Kardashian West posted to social media, she said, quote without keeping up with the Kardashians, I wouldn't be where I am today. Unquote. Well, we asked Julia Alexander of the verge to explain to us just where Kim Kardashian is today. Here's what keeping up with the Kardashians really did is led to a family monetizing themselves. They were the people that you were willing to watching. You wanted to watch, but then you are also buying their products You were signing up for meet and greets and the idea of With the Kardashians are able accomplish was born out of this concept of Web 2.0 of blog's and the tablets that came from blood on the rise of social media. They were able to dominate that market and turned themselves into a product even more. So in the show. The show just kind of acted as a vessel to get them toward. They are today. But what was it specifically about this family? Like, what was it about their relationships, their dynamics that kept sucking people in when the show first started, there was this beautiful Sisterhood with them all, And I think what I really claim to what I really came to was no matter what was happening in this show. In the early seasons, Kim and Kourtney and Khloe had each other and always came back to each other in their mom. And that was what their life was, as the show progressed, and as they became more influential as became bigger celebrities, the show became this really sorrowful. Strange kind of connection of people that there was no choice but to kind of watch because their lives were so dramatic and so public and in many ways very sad and I feel like we were so tuned into this family that we had this kind of para social relationship with which is a one way connection between us and then because we believe We knew who they were. Well, I am having trouble imagining the Kardashians suddenly disappearing after the show is over. So what do you think they're going to do next? The beauty of the Kardashians and this is what they inspired Entire culture of instrument. Looters and tic tac creators and even YouTubers to really understand is that they are in many ways bigger than their name. Even they are individually if their own brand so they can come out and go. I am Kim Kardashian. Kylie Jenner, and I don't need to have this show in order, Tio elevate my celebrity and using that slowly there no going to monetize every aspect of themselves. So what they're gonna do next is just be them. Well, if you had to sum up the legacy of this show, and I am surprised I am even using that word. But if you had to, What would that legacy B. This is going to sound outlandish, and I know it's going to sound that way. But there's a fascination to the family ethos of the Kardashian's. That is very Or reminds me I should say specifically and personally to me of my obsession with the Kennedys in a lot of ways, which is this family that is a form of American celebrity that you you just can't turn away from. "Let's talk about keeping up with the Kardashians, ending after 14 years on the air, so 20 seasons Hundreds of episodes. Numerous spinoff shows in the Kardashians say We're beyond grateful to all of you who've watched us for all this these years. It is kind of fascinating to think about how this empire has grown. Since that little show started because, remember, I mean, that show was just the only thing you knew was Kim Kardashian in a sex tape. You didn't know the rest of the Kardashians. I mean, you sort of knew that, you know that they're late Father was involved in the O. J trial, but it was still kind of hard to connect that because it was so much later on Bruce. Yes. I guess it was the family's decision. But, yeah, I mean, it might have. I think this was kind of inevitable. Frankly, I'm surprised it lasted this long. Because they haven't needed the show for a long time. And I mean it's been several years that we know what's happening on the show before the show comes out, and so I think Reading's really declined when you can.
