"Us on the good your hotline shake or not. He is bart scott. And we're going to go to that. Good your because greg anthony turner sports. Nba analyst is joining us. Right now. good morning to you greg. Thanks for being with us. Let's start with honest and what the bucks were able to accomplish last night. How impressive was that performance from the greek freak. I saw good morning to you all eh spin and minute exactly. I said Last night it was it was the most impressive close game performance. I have ever witnessed. And and i don't know that there could be a better one and it's not just her perfectly. It's also when you factor in how dominant he was offensively You know he had five blocks in that game. he altered. Many other shots disrupted a lot of pain attacks by by booker at and paul and you know then the energy he had in the zone he was it going. Seventeen of nineteen from the free. Throw line you know and then you remember. This wasn't a game or offensively. The other two big done gave game a lot of health. I mean middleton was was solid you know in a game that was more defensive oriented but you look at he and holiday number they were. They were ten thirty two from the field so they more for body the same level of consistency offensively and it didn't matter jaanus was just not to be the night. I just had never seen him play that. Well you know we've seen him be dominant force But he was so efficient and he made all the big shots. You know there've been all this narrative in a lot of our friends in the well. You know who's batman. Who's robin robin on their team. As if there was ever any doubt as who the most dominant player was. And i like to equate jaanus with the app said this the friends janas is a modern day shot. He's he's he's not dominant in the paint. He just does it the way you have to do it today. You couldn't be shocked. The way shocked clay. You know twenty years ago you'd have to be able to do it in a devolved way. And that's why the honest is he's physically forced. He's so much faster and stronger than most people that size And his now. I q has grown ability to pass the basketball. You know his trust in his teammates. It was all on display last night in. He was just not to be denied. Nor was he gonna allow milwaukee to be denied from the glory of winning that championship after fifty years. You know greg. What happens when somebody wins the championship. A certain way you know kind of organically homegrown fracking takes place right. That means everybody else star saying okay. How did they do it. Let's break it down. Maybe we can emulate that right. And i listened to some comments. Dane dollar daimler out there in portland is maybe the blueprint for them to take of their great player. Push on a chips in and surround him with the the drew holidays or whatever that would equate to in portland. It can happen but in reality. This didn't happen overnight. I i don't think damian lewis going to have another six years before someone evolved into what we saw with chris. Militant right milton went from being a second round kicked guy who was playing in the developmentally to now being a world champion and all star and a potential Gold medalists in the olympics. As he's made that teeth so their journey has been organic in that regard but even in that regard they still have to make a mazda dealer. Go out and get into holiday while drew my not make it all. Nba teams. He just good as guard plane in terms of how you can impact the game and so they had to go out and make moves. They had to go out and get P. j. tucker who while he didn't score point last night he was incredible as he has been this entire series. You know so. You know i guess. Sometimes you just need something to talk about. But the reality is milwaukee had been a disappointment in the postseason. The last two years. They've had the best record in the league But it wasn't good enough bay still had to go out and now we make moves to make the right move and that's what they were able to do And you know you tip your hat to them. It is impressive that for young man who came into the league as a fifteen picks who by all accounts everyone thought was a project not only know one project him before. See him becoming a great player. There were a lot of people who didn't know if he would make you know. Not not just become a place. He would even last and league and and to see him turning to what he has testament to his greatness. more so than any organization All these teams in on every level at every sport. They provide the wherewithal for you to develop into something special. But it only happens if it's inside of you in and that's what's brilliant about honest and what he's been able to do and just like everybody when you win a championship. You need some good fortune right. Rims team was down two. Oh twice this postseason down one. Oh and another series had to face the beaming of team that beat him last year shocking in the mind the first round So they had to go through a lot to get to this point and they were deserving. I mean phoenix put up a great battle. And a lot of people talked about discounting phoenix. Now as if they weren't a great team chris paul played. I thought how terrific series this is a challenging series for them because they didn't have the athleticism you know Some matchup or the physicality matchup but that young group put forth a great effort. It was a great fight by them. honest and company were just too much and and as they built momentum and got more of a rhythm for how they had to play. It was just impressive to watch. And remember i and i said you know the honesty's younger to get to his first title than both lebron and michael jordan. When it the way he played last night people would complain. About how if he needs to make free throws and always said. I said god forbid he starts making free throws and luckily there's no answer for him maybe he can make free throws they got a seventeen in nineteen last night. That there's just nothing you can do what you honest. If it can become proficient at the free throw line fresh air. I greg anthony turner sports. Nba analysts. he joined us on the hotline. Thanks much for the insight. We really appreciate it. We'll talk to you soon. All right thank you good name. Yeah jaanus due in the most fifty points. Fourteen boards five blocks. Too much to overcome for the phoenix suns. That's for sure but this morning. He is celebrating. I don't know if you follow me on instagram. I don't but i saw it on twitter. So let me. I'm a business fan. I don't follow anybody's okay. Well let me tell us elaine. Okay this morning on. His counter in his kitchen hit his nice you know last trophy. Mvp trophies electric corn. out of the house. I it'd be great to watch them mature and watch like i remember when drew brees one is title and his kids was younger. Moon bill cower lost his title watch the kids grow up and see his kids five or six years and watch how they grow all right so the bucks that have shaken fifty year hiatus with their second title in franchise history last night. So the question is now..

"Decided the andre hotness the best receiver in the game. jj watch handle jones. I think they're going to be much improved. And i think san francisco's going to push the rams for that number one spot to win the division that leaves seattle without a seat and sierra will be out of the fish mark and she's going to be in a bigger market and that list russell hat he's gonna push it back to them and say. Hey it's time for me to go. I got the at least you said fish markets day. Yesterday he's sierra singing meat market in seattle like. I think you've got the wrongs anybody. At least we're in the fish market. That's good all right. James we got our next running backs. Derrick henry christian. Mccaffrey nick chubb. Saquon one's gotta go just for this. Go ahead you go first. I'm going to go with derek king. Henry denison i listen. We're going to this. Guy has the biggest body surface and they listened to the players. Have been chipping away. We always see a guy. Benchley fall off the cliff. And he's usually a big guy. He's a guy that's built like brandon jacobs. He's a better running back brandon jacobs but we watch brandon jacobs go from stepping on deuce chest to have an injuries right. Everybody's hitting those legs and eventually if you keep knocking and chopping wood adversely. The tree will fall. I think that saquon barclays coming back to try and get his money. Chris mccaffrey hurt you and so many different ways nick. Tub is the best complete out of that list. There doesn't catch the football. Well so the only way can hurt you inside the box and run between outside but disrespect you think that. Have you seen that man. You think any little chip and shop is going to hurt him isla. Have you ever seen the movie troy when when brad pitt till they do we want. I wouldn't fight wanna fight that giant said son. That's why nobody will ever remember your name. My husband could quote movies on a dime to. And i'm like i have no idea what you're saying anyway. The one i would remove his nick saban. I know you like nick shove. I know you think he's the most complete back but he also does share the carries. Let's keep it all the way. One hundred he shares them with kareem. Hunt those two are great ones. You punch cleveland. But in terms of one's gotta go. Nick chebkin go. The rest can stay because the rest are the feature back. Okay go ahead. We'll von j..

"Join us on the goodyear hotline. My name is shaker. Ninety s bart scott. We're filling in for the dudes this morning and the dallas cowboys are getting ready for that conditioning day because it is the start of training camp for them them in the pittsburgh steelers who will start. Tomorrow they'll be in the hall of fame game so they get to get underway early and there are a lot of things to look for if you are. A fan of the dallas cowboys would agree. Yes i'm excited man. You look at the prospects of them having a bounce back year you think about that prescott. We love redemption stories. Come off injury. You know trying to make his claim. He's finally got his money. When i say the boys got his own money to boy has got his own money and no longer has to be a story man. You guys zeke. You're steady like feet. My belly looked like he actually put his belly on a diet. He looks like he's ready and raring to go. You got You know quinn. It's exciting right. This could be the year. I know we always say this could be the year. But we say the same thing about the cleveland browns and you know sometimes like i say a broken clock is twice right twice a day. Yeah we get some modo your bank waiting footprints me right there. J. and he said quinn. I knew what you. Dan glenn new defensive coordinator. I got you by. Drink your coffee because it is the start of training camp least for one team in the nfl. We're gonna play a little game of one's gotta go Do you know how this goes do. Not let's do it all right. So james seal Is going to get on the mic for us. And he's going to basically lay out four to five players teams whatever it is and we need to figure out which ones gotta go Which one doesn't fit with the rest of the crew. So let's do showy ones gotta go. Nfl addition just for this season. Don't look ahead. Don't look behind. James what he got up just for this season. We're going to start. With the quarterbacks. I aaron rodgers patrick. Mahomes tom brady. Russell wilson. one's gonna go. I'm gonna go first. And i'm going to say russell wilson and that is no disrespect to russell wilson. Because i beat that drum for him. I can't believe the guy's never won an mvp okay. But i just think in terms of what the entire team also has to offer. Seattle seahawks had a little bit of a rough off season and so when we talk about aaron rogers arena. Mvp patrick mahomes. Who i think's gonna win the super bowl again for the chiefs. Tom brady was coming off a super bowl win. Russell wilson guy. Go to chez chez chez. I'd go with russell wilson as well like i said. Listen sometimes you gotta hit rock bottom. Listen they're going to be much better football team you look at you know picking up gabe jackson. They got him you know. They got russell wilson some more protection. But it's just bad timing as you know that. I believe the rams are gonna win the super bowl. I love what the cardinals did in the all season and bringing in. Aj green opposite..

"This thing. do ain't nobody out here playing me right now. I'm just trying to finish spreads. Get back into house. Let's get this thing over. That's what it's like today for the dallas cowboys. All that to say. And that's what's happening for the dallas cowboys. But we're going to talk about a team at jeff. Saturday did play for. And there's a lot of things going on with them and that would be the green bay packers because they report to camp in less than a week and yesterday adam. Schefter reported that Tom brady wrong. Guy your aaron rodgers. yeah turned down to your section and that basically solidified us. Obviously this is not about the money for aaron rodgers and so my question to you is what is going through his head right now. What is it that he wants. What do you think it is jeff. He wants out. You know what i mean. Listen when when you think about the one thing that stay consistent with aaron. He hasn't made a lot of comments about everything that's going on his only thing was. I don't wanna play in green bay. That was his. I'm frustrated with the front office. And i want to move on so i think from his perspective. He's just fine trying to find a way to negotiate that point. Green bay has all the leverage. Still right now so there's not a whole lot. He can do he. He's done everything he can do right. Just don't show up keep pushing it off you know. Keep keep the distractions coming in as much as being unsettled for that team as you possibly can make it. But his leverage really doesn't start until regular season games are being missed. So when i look at this thing aaron wants to find a way to shrink that three years to maybe just this year if he can't get out this year and then move on so i think that's the negotiating tactic. He's trying to us at this point but he's he's never mix words. I mean that was what he said. And i think he's staying true to that part but jeff man you've been around the block a little bit and we had our fair share of high stakes poker so to say when you talk about contract negotiations and when people in an average fan hero. Two year extension. They think oh. It's a five year guarantee deal. No that's a way to pro rate. The no the the money bring down his initial it so they can sign the atoms and then also kind of looks bad on their rogers that he's turned down five five year extension or being under contract for five years so we not not giving them five years. Because how can you give them. Five years named joint. Love is going to be done you. You're never going to see him play. And he's the first round draft pick that you moved up for from so i think that's like of control the narrative and maybe make aaron rodgers. Look like the bad guy because that's not the case. Two years is just a way to grow money so they can sign devante atoms. We not stupid yeah. Commonsense ain't common. I mean what you start thinking about. How the narrative that the packers have used is genius. He they're really trying to do and you know this and they do it in all negotiate the nfl. Spin machine is the greatest in the world. They're trying to put pressure from the fans on aaron rodgers. Right like they're trying to flip the script and they say oh well he's been offered to be the highest paid player. He's going to be a prima donna now. You know it's about this. It's about that we've all played for people and all that is true but the way they spin it is trying to put the pressure back on him. But i listen. I i know arab play with a for a year this guy's pretty steadfast in his conviction so if if this is something that he's willing to go i think he'll he'll continue to push it. I think the only way he plays is if they take the extra two years off. I think if they take the extra two years off. That's a decent compromise play seventeen games or if it's happened to the regular season which i'm thinking will however many games we got left and you and i both though it's still the best chance for him to win the super bowl. Not only for the packers and aaron rodgers. This is their best opportunity to win. So do it now and then let the final years take care of themselves. I'm outta green bay and moving onto to somewhere else to take. That would take tremendous trust right because you know those official official wink wink because they need the extension to sign devante out of what they don't want is to try. Okay aaron you can come in play one year. We'll let you go and then lose atoms because he's not signed because you know if they don't sign right and now they don't. They're stuck next year without any receivers on the contract for next year. Which would mean that. They're going in total rebuil- and if they don't win a championship it'll be they had. Maybe the greatest quarterback you know the last five to ten years and only one championship. Yeah and listen when you think about devante atoms. Not not just he but a number of guys on the team. Your locker room watches these type negotiations. You and i both know we all know. We're not the quarterback right. Like we understand that portion. There's always going to be differences in the way of quarterback gets treated and the rest of the normal guys right but everybody in that locker room has washed. How martin murphy's handled this good acoustics handlers. Like everybody's watching and paying attention to say. Hey man if i do everything right. What are they going to do. You don't think devante adams hadn't watched and he knows aaron rodgers not being there will affect his career rioting. He gets the numbers he gets. How good he is play right now. He also gets to your point. What does it really look like jordan. Love better ball out the packers better. That is they're saving grace. If jordan love plays well and gives atoms that type of that charging energy then things will calm down if he does. Not that is a scare fest and when you think about guys wanting to get out devante number one being probably the best receiver in the game and really the most pressure this year. Because he's been distracted with aaron rodgers. He hasn't had a chance to throw with aaron and jordan. Didn't do the otas like all this stuff for he for him at his position is a big deal. He really wants to see how this thing plays out for his long term future. So many marks in green bay. At least they're celebrating in milwaukee. Today i guess right they can hold on for that for ligo. Let's switch gears really quick before we let you go here and talk about the cowboys. We were joking about that opening up camps today and it being conditioning day believe is what you guys called it but nonetheless for dak prescott going forward obviously coming off that injury and so we'll look to training camp to kind of see how he's progressing. But what do you expect from the cowboys. I'm high on dak prescott. I got like. I really think he's gonna have a phenomenal year. I look at this offense this a top five office. Especially if the three offense if collins smith and martin comeback and stay healthy. This offense is ready to roll. They got three receivers with gallup lamb. Just lost a cooper amari. Cooper it with with zeke elliott and this whole like this offense is prompting ready.

"Join us on the goodyear hotline bart scott shake. Cornet here with you. It's a winning wednesday. In milwaukee talked a lot about what happened with the bucks last night as they win the finals and take care of the phoenix. John's but we gotta talk a little bit about training camp because the cowboys reports training camp today steelers report tomorrow. nfl unofficial start to the season. Feels like it's this week next week the rest of the league reports but as far as the cowboys. And what they're going to expect today just because you've been in this situation before well today look like for them for them. This is more of an administrative day as like the first day of college or school. Whatever you're doing when you have to show up and you gotta go through all all know. What did they report today you. This may be the most entertaining day in all. No because i love this could be the most entertaining day of training camp. The conditioning tests auto is the funniest thing. Ever to wash some big fatty. He's trying to run a conditioning tests. Cutting me make me make you know if you don't pass it if you don't pass the disney test you gotta run it again to you pass and you gotta go into the protocol all conditioning tests. I once saw a guy carried off. The dan wheelbarrow the funniest thing ever seen in my life. Because what happens. Is you train you train early in the morning and breast conditions and you show up and you come from place in this a heatwave guy with a full body crap get carried up in will barrel the funniest thing i've ever seen in my life. They're put his whole body. Oh oh this is the greatest day ever okay. Whoa maybe our next guest can speak to this too. I don't know 'cause. I certainly cannot jeff saturday. Espn nfl analyst. Joining us now on the goodyear hotline jeff. You've anything to add to that. I thought of words for love. It is still in the straight truth. I saw many amid carried off in the back of the in the back of a four side by side pictures just done. They got nothing They gave it all of the field man. They were pushing that last ten yards on across the line. You get turfed burns or grass. Get a creek route okay. You got everything they got to pass. That says nobody want to repeat the conditioning tests. Whatever you've got you better leave it out. You'd rather miss a day of practice. You can rest assured miserable. I know he's got all those go tomorrow to that point. What type of guy were you. Because i was a guy that didn't talk then. I was the guy that i was supposed to come in at fourteen. I didn't go so you had a guy that young bucks. They want us to our great shape. Dan they go too hard too fast. Now understand that it's a marathon not a sprint. And i was a guy that you look and you've been talking to hide that we can do it. I i hated those go. I wanted to smack now hasten shot. I'm no no no hype right here. I just wanted to get my. I was one of those guys like. I got run long distance and so for like a district test for me. I was good. It was that the sprint you had to get there. I could make all the time. So i was like you but no i ain't no hype guy. Do the height guys on conditioning day. Everybody wants to take them out to lean. Don't touch your knees keep your head up so your pride. You're like broad. he's trying to get through..

"Postal service priority. You he delivered those fifty points last night and he did it his way you know like he accomplished what he wanted to accomplish and i love how in there he said you know. I could have gone enjoying the super team. I could've done it easy way. We can we have an open production meeting on air. Because can we have a segment where we have our callers our listeners call in and fill in the blinks. Because i think he's only talking he can only possibly be talking to two stars they just so happened to be the first and second best players in the nba. And one is lebron james and others kevin durant because he can't be talking to anybody else he can't talk to coalisland. Tell me go. Wild later went to to the rafters because he was joining the super tale. He wasn't so would be another one right so right. So he's talking about well maybe arguably three top five guys because when you think about organically in recent history when you think about what the golden say worries did in their first two championships. No that was me out of order first championship. that was about a homegrown small market team. You know coming of age chemistry developing when you think about clay splash brothers you think about you know draymond green coming in. It wasn't until kevin durant came. That made him a super team practice. Also we've seen it done right. When lebron james went back he really was joining a super team. You i know brought kevin love in and join forces with kawai. So i mean listen. This is more than one way to skin a cat. And listen when you when you win the war. Or you're the winner. Then you can control the narrative but you know that was a little shade. I think unwarranted maybe back. Maybe i'm shay to what you know. Maybe was sad or not said by kevin durant about the comparisons. Here's what i'll say about janas and this. Look i said this during the summer. And i will say again. We were all speculating about where he was gonna go. I had no idea if he was going to go join another team. Mary's going to stay in milwaukee. The only thing i had heard about yonathan komo personally was that he was a very loyal guy. Family mattered to him being comfortable manner to him. He wasn't gonna follow on anyone's footsteps. And so that would lead one to believe that he was gonna stay in milwaukee but money talks. You never know what's going to happen. And so when he signs a supermax deal and he decided to stay in milwaukee with his guys you know with khris middleton. Someone played with for eight seasons now and they've truly built this thing from the ground up. I thought you know what this is really good for the nba. It's really good to see a player that was drafted by this team. Stay in that city and it might not be the biggest market in the world but he was loyal to that place loyal to that coach loyal to his guys and build it that way and now for to see it all come to for wishing again very good for the nba where we see all these super teams joining and it's like new york sally. What about what's in the middle and what's in between and then the minute. These super teams are joined. You figure that side of the aisle meaning. The east of the west is more loaded. It's more top-heavy like the east more top heavy because of the nets this year right now. finally you're seeing. That doesn't have to necessarily be the case. But i feel like this is the sweet kind of southern stubbornness of colombo coming into play and the way he's voicing enter projecting it as you like to say to everyone else. Right like comes over from greece. Determine doesn't play a you all these guys doesn't have that same kind of camaraderie builds it from the ground in his leg. Yeah he's like..

I got it so it's better yet talking about weird names. So i'm a doctor and i delivered babies. I gotta tell you the weirdest name of baby ever delivered. I'm picking the baby up and we're checking on her after delivered and i'm trying to get the name right so i'm looking at la la and i'm trying to figure out how to say the name because it's written on top of the best and that and then she looks at me and she says what's your problem doctor. Can't you read now. it's like what's going on. it's so it's basha. It's called it with an l. a. hyphen and then i. I actually have heard a similar story. and from dr interestingly enough. I've actually heard he's a story like that. Not not here not in. La definitely. but i've heard a similar thing that is that's an interesting name. I i have a friend who worked as a pediatric nurse. And thank you for the call. Dr who said that. She had a woman from one of the eastern european countries. I don't remember which one it was. But that she named her sons Lemond gelo and iran gelo and they asked wide says and they found out as a lot of lemon and orange jello when she live she was pregnant and she decided to go there. That would that. That's how she would neighbor twin boys. The neurone gelo back to the song lyrics by the way this is scary versus voices carry. That's pretty good. "Nineteen ninety-six documentary about seattle. Rock called hype compared the city at the time to the mall on christmas eve. Fifteen minutes before closing it's loaded with sub moronic idiots prancing around buying anything they can get their hands on for many. The nail in the coffin came when marc jacobs the creative director for perry ellis unveiled a grunge theme line of clothes for the fall of nineteen ninety-two jacobson models at christy. Turlington and kate moss down the runway wearing flannel shirts printed. Granny dresses doc. Martens and slow ci knit tooks. But they weren't close pulled a thrift shops in seattle. The flannels were actually made out of silk. And polyester dresses were reimagined in chiffon. The young marc jacobs was considered by the fashion industry as the future of america design but ended up losing his job and nearly killing his career with the now infamous grunge collection. It's often overlooked though that. Marc jacobs wasn't alone. Other designers like anna sui and christian francis roth had both shown similar collections that season but it was jacobs who has castigated by the press of killing the movement and lacking a true understanding of the industry courtney. Love has said that. Jacob sent her kurt cobaine. Perry ellis grunge collection. But here's a shocker. She didn't wear it. She decided instead to burn it. Though by twenty ten love was devastated that she had burned those items from that truly conic nineties collection as the seattle music scene went mainstream nirvana became successful. The man at the heart of it. All kirk cobain was struggling. He didn't want to become another guns. N roses metallica and the alternative world of music where cobain and nirvana began commercial. Success meant ruining your credibility in early on cobaine started doing things that he thought would shore up his credibility for example. He refused to perform at axl rose's thirtieth birthday party and turned down a spot on the metallica guns n. Roses summer tour. Axl rose had personally requested nirvana support on the nineteen ninety-two tour but cobain refused and called gen. Our talentless people who write crap music and cobaine even started saying in interviews that he was unhappy with never mind describing it as candy ass and comparing it to motley crue which was just about the worst thing he could have said beginning in early nineteen ninety-two cobaine also famously. Took six. months off from touring. Even though nirvana was the biggest band on the planet at time choosing instead to hang out in the los angeles area apartment he shared with his new wife courtney love cobaine complained that he was suffering from chronic stomach troubles but rumors continue to swirl that he was also struggling with a heroin addiction. Cobaine wasn't the only one finding the adjustment to sudden fame difficult nirvana bass player. Chris novus allege called it traumatic to go from an underground seattle band to the most famous musical group in the world. He said they all turn to different methods of escape for him. It was beer and wine for kurt. It was heroin nirvana's manager danny. "Location just outside of melbourne. It shows all three band members. But it's hard to focus on anyone else other than kurt cobaine. That's because in the photo. He's not only wearing his signature cardigan. He also has on a t shirt with the handwritten message. Corporate magazines still suck the story behind the t. Shirt is actually pretty funny. Apparently on the first day of the shoot combing showed up wearing a shirt with a handcrafted message that read the grateful. Dead still sucks legendary photographer. Mark seliger was in charge of the shoot and he told cobain not to wear a t shirt with writing on it because it would compete with the headlines. The next day cobaine showed up in a new t. Shirt that took a job directly at rolling stone magazine. Soldier has said that cobain refused to take off the shirt and also refused to take off his sunglasses rolling stone co founder and publisher jann winner not only kept message intact rather than photo shopping. It out. he also apparently loved the statements. The article that accompanied the cover photo focused quite a bit on. Kurt cobain in how he was handling the band's sudden success the story covered everything from his recent marriage. To courtney love they had just gotten married in a private ceremony in hawaii to the rumors that cobain may have a problem with drugs in particular with heroin. He denied using heroin. Saying he doesn't even drink anymore because it destroys his stomach adding that drugs are a waste of time because they destroy your memory. Self respect and self esteem. It's funny. The article doesn't once mentioned the word grunge referring to nirvana music as either punk underground or grassroots like some of the band's associated with grunge rolling stone appears to have been trying to avoid the label which by nineteen ninety-two had become a bad word in seattle. In fact stone gossard of pearl jam refused to use it and ben shepherd of soundgarden was quoted as saying grunge is a word used in tv commercials about scum on your shower curtains but it wasn't the case everywhere else in the world grunge is a style of music and attitude and a fashion trend was still on the ascent. There was even a grungy movie if you watch it now. Singles is a perfect time capsule about the music scene in seattle in the late. Eighties early nineties. That's because crow. Who was a music journalist with rolling stone before turning to filmmaking had moved to the city in the late eighties and knew the music. And the band's intimately the movie features a bunch of twentysomethings navigating love and life. Crowe said he was inspired to write the jenex romcom backdrop of the seattle grunge scene following the funeral for mother. Love bone singer andrew wood after the funeral pro. The new york times published an article in the fall of nineteen ninety-two that was meant to educate its readers about seattle's grunge rock scene. Unfortunately for the times the reporter assigned to the story fell for an extremely embarrassing practical joke. Let me explain the reporter rick. Martin had called. Jonathan hahnemann co owner of the indie record label sub pop but he was too exhausted to talk yet again to another out of town journalists about the seattle music scene so he flubbed the call off on a receptionist. Megan jasper was actually an ex receptionist. At sub pop she had just been laid off by the permanently broke record label but agreed to take the call anyway. The record was working on a story for the papers style. Section about the mainstreaming of grunge culture and he wanted to put together a grunge lexicon as a companion to the peace when jasper heard the idea. She laughed mainly because grunge slang didn't really exist. But it wasn't the first time this question came up about grunge having its own vocabulary in fact earlier that year the british magazine sky had aas jasper for a similar glossary so she made up a few fake nonsense words that ended up getting printed in the magazine members of the band mud. Honey read the article and took the joke a step further by using some of those fake words in an interview they they did with the uk publication melody maker now by the time. Rick martin of the new york times came around asking once again what jasper considered to be ridiculous question. She came up with a full list of fake grunge slang words and phrases. The reporter and the times fell hook line and sinker and printed the entire list. Here's how it read in the paper. All subculture speak in code. Grunge is exception. Megan jasper a twenty five year old in seattle provided this lexicon of grunge speak coming soon to a high school or mall near you. Wack slacks means old ripped jeans fuzz. Heavy wool sweaters swing on the flippity flop means hanging out bound and gagged staying home on friday or saturday night. Cobbler is a loser. Lame stain an uncool person. Now not to be a lame stain but as you can imagine just about everybody. Associated with early seattle music scene was getting a little tired of the mainstreaming of the so called grunge culture by nineteen ninety two. It was essentially just outsiders who used the term grunge charles crossed the editor of the seattle music monthly. The rocket said grunge wasn't over hyped. Inflated word that didn't have actual meaning in seattle he said it was more of a time marker than a description of music and in seattle a backlashes brewing according to jonathan pondimin from sub pop. All things grunge were treated with the utmost cynicism and amusement because the whole thing was a fabricated movement. The seattle band mud honey even wrote about it in the song overblown which was included.

"Please help me help them. Winter von took the stage for form on mtv unplugged in november nineteen ninety-three. They were the biggest band in the world but the sure didn't look it. Christova solid used a big borrowed base. Dave grohl was wearing a weird looking turtleneck and his hair was in a ponytail. And kurt cobaine had on a natty card again and his hair was greasy because he hadn't washed it in a week when they sat down and started to play. It was pure magic raw and personal a- totally intimate an unexpected experience captured on film in its entirety in a single take. And yet if you watch the performance closely. You'll see that like the vintage sweater worn by the band. Singer nirvana was beginning to fray kurt. Cobain was uncomfortable in his own skin and frustrated. He repeatedly spins around on his chair and glares at drummer. Dave grohl telling him on one song another time telling him to shut up you listen to his words and the songs cobaine pick to sing that night you might actually be able to recognize the signs that the end was near. I'm catholic in zora and this is history of the nineties. A podcast about a decade that changed the world on this episode. We continue our look at the rise and fall of grunge. Maybe you've heard the expression the moment you're born you start dying well. The same applies to grunge. We may not have known it. But the moment grunge made it into the mainstream in the fall of nineteen ninety-one. The clock was ticking toward a tragic. And in the meantime though the huge success of nirvana pearl jam and soundgarden led to a frenzy by record labels to sign other grunge type bands. Ed rosenblatt president of nirvana's label geffen records was quoted as saying. No one can get a seat on a plane to seattle or portland now. Every flight is booked by a in our people out to find the next nirvana joining me again. To talk about grunge is alan cross. He's an internationally known broadcaster interviewer writer consultant logger and speaker in his nearly forty years. In the broadcasting music business allen has interviewed the biggest names in rock in his also known for the long running radio show and podcast the ongoing history of new music. He says as the seattle area was picked clean of talent. The search began to extend beyond the pacific northwest following the success of never mind. We ended up with all these other bands that weren't from seattle. That were wrapped up in the whole grunstein. Emmy you think about creed stone temple pilots and any number of other bands that were brunch dish. But were not from. Seattle all lumped together in this whole seen. It happens all the time when the record labels find something that's hot. The herd mentality takes over the russian sign up everything that sounds like it's gonna or could be hit for all against the wall. Take the province where they can and then when they completely ring everything out of that scene that sound. They'd want the next thing. That's just the nature of music that unique three year period from roughly nineteen ninety two to nineteen ninety five is referred to as the grunge gold rush similar to the time when record label suits chase psychedelic rock bands in the wake of the grateful dead in the late sixties or when a in our scouts traveled the world for my sharona tight bands with skinny ties in the late. Seventies and record labels had money to burn to find the next nirvana. That's thanks to the combo of booming cd sales mtv and revenue generating pop megastars like michael jackson and whitney houston. Every major label sent platoons of anr scouts. All over the world armed with fat expense accounts to wine and dine every halfway decent banned in flannel shirts. Playing de tuned guitars you see what nirvana's nevermind and pearl jam's ten broke through. It wasn't just grunge that became mainstream. He was alternative music. In general allen cross says for years old music and mainstream rock traveled along parallel tracks not crossing over as a listener. You're either in one camp or the other but then grunge came along and punched a hole in the wall between the two camps and then wants that fall between the alternative universe in the mainstream universe was opened. All this stuff just flooded out from the alternative decide into the mainstream to the point. Where within two years alternative was the mainstream. So greenwich was the thing that lured ever buddy and it was kind of like alternative music with training. Wheels you got into grunge and like the attitude one.

"Dial the number pound 2 50 say the keyword money again dial pound 2 50 on your cell phone and say the key word money. Let's turn it back over to Jim and Dan Gym today, we're talking about common money mistakes, and I'm going to talk about and knew when a tax related one and this is deferring your IRA. Distributions until now, with a new law till you're 72. It's been talked about by so many advisors by so many CPS telling consumers you need to defer your IRAs as long as you possibly can, until you are required to take required minimum distributions out because that will reduce your taxes. Well, the only tax that's going to reduce is the tax you're paying. Now, until the time you start taking distributions. At that point, your taxes are pretty much guaranteed to be higher for many men. The reasons and there have been additional tax laws that have changed. So the IRS right now is saying. Oh, guess what? You don't have to take your money out when you're 70.5. We're going to allow you to wait until you're 72. They're going to give us two more years to defer. Well, all that means is now you're going to have more money inside the account. By the time you got to start taking distributions out, and you have higher percentages that you have to take out at older ages. And they're probably going to increase tax rates, which that does not now equate to lower taxes. That means higher taxes. In addition to that, you have to make sure you take into consideration the new laws for beneficiaries before you could defer the heck out of your money. Pass away. You leave it to your beneficiaries. They can take your IRA out over their entire lifetime. Now your beneficiaries non spouse beneficiaries. Have to take all your money out over no longer than a 10 Year time period, which now is going to significantly increase the amount of taxes that are paid on those iris. You know, Dan, this is so important and same thing with Social security. Very similar. The industry says delay delay delay taking Social Security and if you do, so, you're going to 8% bump each year until you're 70 which is all true. But if you're retired, and you're not having a paycheck come in. It's a better to take your own assets and use that for income or you should you should you use the government's asset. And the only way to know that is that you have to do the calculations and the math behind that. Obviously, we do that. For every client. We're going to tell you, mathematically ones the right time to take Social Security. Do you take it now? Or do you delay for two years? Or do you delay till 60 70 delay till 70, But we're not going to tell you emotionally because everybody else says the same thing. We're going to mathematically define one's a bit. Time to take it, And that's when we pull the trigger Dan very similar, though definitely, and it's all security. If you look at that, as a as a just a simple question when you call the Social Security hotline, you look on the social media website. It all says deferred two for two for you get 8% more. Well, When does the government ever tell you to do what's good for you? They just don't the government's telling you to defer because it's better for the government's better for the Social Security system that you don't take distributions out because distributions hurt the system. And it actually helps you so you have to take it with a grain of salt when they're saying that if you look at the the IRA question that I posed earlier why do advisors tell you to defer your ire as long as possible? Well, the simple reason is it retains assets inside of your account longer that they can charge higher and higher fees on because mathematically They can't prove that it's better to defer it. Mathematically, we can prove tax wise. That's better not to defer it. So they're doing that for their own good, Not for your own good. And if you can look at let's say you're 65. And you want to take distributions and your advisor says no. Go ahead and defer it to your 72. Can you use your money now now, But let's say you can start traveling again. Can you use your money better at 65, or can you use your money better at 72? What if your health fails? What if your spouse is gone? You don't know for sure that you're going to be able to use that money 72. So you better use the money for the things that you have planned to use the money on which is to spend it to increase your lifestyle and to become happy during retirement. Another reason to Daniel That's what advisers most often don't do. If they don't build a plan for a client, they just investor money, So they just as you mentioned, the more money you have in that account value If you defer the more money they are making off you, But if you put a plan together and you do the math behind it, and you you lay out all the objective declines trying to achieve and when they needed starting income, what aspects are going to use and how that income is going to help them throughout their lifetimes, and what they're going to leave to the beneficiaries. If you're looking at all those Opponent and you put together a comprehensive plan. It will show the client with great clarity wins the best time to turn on that income in social Security. And one is the best time to start taking money out of your IRA. And if you follow those rules with a plan in place, then you won't have this indecisiveness. If you think you may need some help, we're here. We have 50 plus years of combined experience, mostly.

A Shop Divided: Union Members Split Over Biden And Trump
"It's here and now Democratic nominee Joe Biden and met with the president of the United Steelworkers yesterday on a whistle stop tour through Pennsylvania and Ohio. Biden is trying to win back union working class voters in the Midwest that helped President Trump win the election in 2016. The president is making the pitch that he's saved American manufacturing, But there are 66,000 fewer manufacturing jobs in Michigan, compared to July 2019 and 48,000 fewer in Ohio. Let's check in with a few union voters. Now Tim Petrovsky is the president of the United Steelworkers. Local 1900, South Lyon, Michigan. Tim. Welcome here now. Thank you. Thanks for having me Joe Biden, clearly making an effort to reach unions and working class voters in this campaign. But do you think he has a chance to get back some of that support that Democrats lost four years ago? I think he has the opportunity. I think it's a tough climb, but I do believe it can happen. Early on 2016 the manufacturing here in Michigan Steel business. It took a pretty good boom. A lot of that was already building but you know, the credit was given that way. You know, one of the things now, obviously, with the mishandling of the Corona virus and everything, a lot of our shops were shut down. The steel is not what it was promised to be the opportunity to speak with Vice President Biden two weeks ago when he was in doing his tour of Detroit, he met with four of us US W workers in one of the things we talked about was the ways to bring manufacturing jobs back to Michigan, he seemed he had a good plan to bring back good paying union jobs, not just jobs. Like it. Our mill we sell Yusa made pipe in our steals bought here in America, and one of the things he promised was to spend government money on products made in America. Right, so if they're going to use steel, they're going to use our steel. But, you know, I remember one of the very early executive orders that President Trump issued was promised to do just that to use US steel in pipelines, for instance, and he's made a big show of supporting the steel industry. Over the years, President Trump has he's slapped tariffs on Chinese steel. He's blamed People like Joe Biden for supporting trade deals like NAFTA. That he says is outsourced American jobs. I mean, what do you make of the argument that President Trump has been good for the American steel industry? Listen, I'm not goingto sit here and say that I don't believe in the beginning that it It was good. You know, it's a released it appeared that way. You know 16 17 even on into 18. The steel was good. I mean, our shop definitely was on optics. We hired 100 people. So we went from 140 ish people, The 2 50. But here we are 2020 in October now And we're down over 100 people. We actually have less people working than we did during that that rise where we're seeing that union leaders are likely to stick with Democrats this election. Just like they did in 2016, But with the rank and file, Tim, what about that? What? You're hearing from the rank and file your coworkers. The guys you work next to Now that's where it's. It's different. Obviously, the higher ups at the U. S W A W Things like that They support Democratic candidates. But there's a lot of people in our shop 20 years ago, this place would have been 95% Democrats. And now it's really split that I'd probably have to say something like 60 40 Republican over Democrat now, So on a lot of that is because of the up flux we had over the last couple of years. They gave that credit there. But now that you know, we're not working as much with the Corona virus or whatever reason. You know they're not willing to associate the blame as well. Right? So it's a really It's a shop divided anymore with the rank and file. I'm curious when you got to work yesterday were people talking about Tuesday's presidential debate. What? What did you hear from folks? Oh, man, it's ah, you know, as the union president at our shop, knowing that our shop is divided I try to avoid the politics conversation honestly at work, but no, it was. It was the big talk. I mean, that that debate was it was something right. I mean, it was Ah. I think it It was not good on believe not good on both sides here at work, even though Trump supporters were not happy with the way he handled himself. And the Biden supporters here were not happy with the lack of message. So, yeah, I mean, it's it's really divided. Tim Petrosky, president of the United Steelworkers, Local 1900 in south Lie in Michigan. Tim, Thanks for taking time out of your day to speak with us. No problem.

So the benefit is this boat. These folks, They're you know, paying so much a month and they can consolidate down and Kind of streamlined what they're put down and it makes financial sense. Yeah, the cash out, we finance which is available. It may make sense at all that they got the equity and they've earned it. And it would put him in a unanswered position. Long term that that would yield better results. First, you know, probably I ask. I insist credit cards and it might be something they won't look into shore. So so lenders are doing cash out Reef eyes right now. I thought that they had kind of stop that. But maybe that's on a case by case basis. It's it's certain lenders are certain letters are but you know, and it made, for example, the normal out there, in most cases on a conventional owns 80% right now, they may have just uncertain situation scaled it back to 75%. What they call a loan to value maybe 70 so Certain products have a backseat next cash out availability and we might see a small reduction on that. But I say that that piece there is any based on that person certain scenario. And that's kind of going to be short lived, and we might share back to normal. "It's a few days to it I know, but the MVP votes should be at the end of the finals. Decide the actual MVP. Getting Right, but the finals MVP can be somebody completely out of the blue, like for example wasn't Chauncey billips finals? MVP, yeah, Andrea Dollar, too, but Chauncey billips wouldn't have one if it was for the entire season, and the playoffs woody no not even close anything. He finished in the top ten. So. I think the MVP should be in my world. The MVP should be for the entire season and the playoffs so you can see the way it all plays out if Lebron beach on us and the finals, then clearly, Lebron is the MVP. Janas wins clearly honest is the MVP the action? Network has just released NBA. Championship arts okay. Who Do you think is favored to win the NBA title according to the Action Network? The action network I'm going to go Milwaukee's favorite, correct plus two forty. WHO's next. Lakers correct plus two seventy. WHO's after that? Clippers correct plus three forty now. I think that's easy. The next one is hard and somewhat surprising in my opinion bugs one. Clippers three. WHO's surprising by a long out by the way by four landslide? I'll go. Houston correct I didn't see that I would have put Toronto or Boston. They they've got a lot of star power and they were coming hard at the break, but. Before both the Lakers and the clippers true there in the West so the Eastern Conference team. It'd be Toronto or Boston. I go Boston then. TORONTO THEN DENVER Miami Philadelphia Utah, but Bucks Lakers, clippers, rockets plus hundred. You know I don't think anybody should sleep on our original prediction. At the start of the year, we both thought it would be lakers, sixers, healthy embiid and healthy Ben Simmons. Coming off of a break, I think the sixers would be a great sleeper. That's a great vow. I've not to win it all, but to win. The East would be the great value in on I can give you their odds to win the east standby. Okay, they are well. They're the fifth favourite. It's Bucks Celtics Raptors heat. Sixers Gimme sixers. Plus nine hundred a little value on that plus plus nine hundred. Give me. Give me. Five thousand dollars. That's a serious serious money. BET, so that's forty five grand. If you win it, yeah, forty five grand. That's my sleeper pick. That's where the value is. That's excellent, excellent bed. So here is coming back next. I wanted to describe. The health protocols that the NBA is going to be using plus. News from college, Football. that. May mean we aren't going to see college football games in the fall. That's coming up next for you. Mason and Ireland seventeen ESPN. I continued to keep track of the protests across Los Angeles and across the country. Today was a memorial service for George. Floyd, in Minneapolis. The. The NBA is is coming back. and. We know now the structure of the way it's going to work. There could be as many five to six games played per day starting to live the thirty first not going to do about it is going to be an NBA Bonanza on that date. The remainder of the season will be completed in no more than seventy four days with a game seven of the NBA finals potentially on October the twelfth. The early games. The August Games are called seating game. Stay include. Teams Thirteen from the West and nine from the East now epidemiologists have said this is what the NBA needs, and in order to ensure the safest possible situation for everybody, it remains unclear. What kind of testing there's going to be the players. Union has previously indicated they'd prefer a testing method other than the nasal swab which is viewed as invasive and uncomfortable, there will be additional layers of protection in place. Social distancing temperature checks USA masks when appropriate and sanitizing. If one player test positive, they will be quarantined. It will be more problematic if multiple individuals from the same team test positive for Covid nineteen right and think all these sports were talking about whether it be college, football or NFL or the. NBA. I think we should have an understanding with the audience that. All of these are subject to the coronavirus, absolutely huge second wave of the coronavirus. It could kneecap all of these sports. Yup, like the. What was the one college football story you had that? There were five people and one team that already got so Alabama. has returned to campus. The players have for voluntary workouts and five of them have already tested positive for the coronal. Did. This brings up something I wanted to ask you. So, you know college football teams. You have a position coach Yup and you have for example. The NFL teams are like this. Do you have a quarterback's room so in college? You would have the whatever three or four quarterbacks you have on the team. Would all be in the same room with the quarterbacks coach and the offensive coordinator, okay. So you scheduled a play Alabama. In the season opener in the first week in September, it's supposed to be in Dallas. So? Let's say. You said five guys on the Alabama team got it today correct or it was announced today announced today yeah! Let's say one of the quarterbacks in the quarterback room. Is One of those five guys. We'll the guys. He's been hanging out with all week. Yup are the other three quarterbacks the quarterback coach. Do you almost have to have a? Setback Aruban Return, right a, you know how they'll like they don't let pilots all eat together before a flight. Sure, do you almost need? Do you almost need to have a separate room where you have an emergency quarterback? So in other words Keaton Slovenia's and Matt Thick would not be in the same room well, they can be in the same room, but maybe your emergency quarterback, whoever random purdue I think as the is third quarterback, a USA's out. Am I being overly protective here. WOULD THAT BE SMART? You know. We'll tell me. What. Fifty Alabama players show up the Banfield yesterday. Yeah, five of them have tested positive and everybody else has been exposed and subject to quarantine so ten percent you can live with ten out of the you say five out of the fifty right. Yes, so ten percent of them tested positive. The problem comes in even if all five of them were like Lineman. You you still have other linemen that you could use the problem with a quarterback is that's a very specific position I would think same thing with the kicker. Almost I would almost leave one quarterback and one kicker. Okay so this is a bad analogy, but. I'm big into into government and politics and stuff. Do you know that when the? President gives the state of the Union. Yes, they have to pick a guy. Do you know what that means? Yeah is the premise of that. Kiefer. Sutherland, show right He. It is designated survivor. Yeah, okay so. You, basically, when you pick a guy, you pick somebody from the Cabinet That doesn't go to the state of the Union. Frank Reich because God forbid something awful would happen. Do we need a designated quarterback? A designated kicker? Just in case something happens, or am I being Lindsey of being ridiculous, or is this smart? No, I. Get what you're saying. And when you make the analogy of the whole pilot situation I totally agree with you. It.
